2024.05.29 02:47 Longjumping_Bag4666 Review: Bratty TEEN RUNS AWAY From Home, What Happens Next Is Shocking

Welcome back to my weekly Dhar Mann video review series. I was bored and decided to do this week's review earlier than usual. The video I will be tackling today is Bratty TEEN RUNS AWAY From Home, What Happens Next Is Shocking. This was last year's Mother's Day special and is one that I've thought would be an interesting review for a little while now. I even posted a clip from this video the other day. Anyways, let's get the review started.
The video begins with the titular bratty teen Chloe(Logan Roe) getting her makeup ready while the doorbell rings, and she yells at her mom to get it. Mom(Katherine Norland) answers the door and a girl(Sara Kamine) is there to give Chloe a spray tan. Mom is confused and goes into Brat's room while she is dying her hair. Mom tells Brat she is too young to be dying her hair, which is kind of silly if you ask me. This girl looks old enough to be making decisions about her hair color. Mom then confronts her about the spray tan she plans on getting while she is texting a rapper named Lil Pop who she is going on a date with. Apparently, Lil Pop also flunked out of high school. I'm pretty sure Lil Pop is supposed to be a parody of Lil Pump. Now I'm starting to think I should make a video titled "Gucci Gang but every time he says Gucci Gang a cringy Dhar Mann clip is played". Mom informs Brat that she is not allowed to go out with Lil Pop and even if she was, it's Mother's Day and they have the whole day planned. Brat and Mom argue a bit more and Brat calls Mom's rules dumb. Mom says they are not dumb but important. I'm not liking where this is going because last time Dhar preached "rules are important" was the video where Regina got Jay kidnapped. Mom then complains to her husband(Chris Ready), who suggests letting her go on the date. Husband suggests to let Brat go on the date and face her own consequences. He's the only reasonable one here so far. Brat comes down saying she is leaving. Okay, now I'm starting to side with the mom a bit, your mom doesn't let you go out one time and you're running away from her right before Mother's Day? I'm as against strict parents as the next guy, but that seems VERY rash. Mom listen's to Dad's suggestion and doesn't even try to stop her from leaving.
The next scene shows Brat at her friend's house complaining about her mom. Friend(Angelina Koerner) says "you don't want to be with your mom for Mother's Day?". Brat says she is done with her mom and asks Friend if she can get a spray tan and dye her hair, wo which Friend reluctantly agrees. We then cue a shitty music montage of Brat getting a spray tan and dying her hair in preparation for her date. Brat wakes up the next morning only to realize her makeover was a disaster and she looks like what she describes as "an old lady carrot". Her and Friend go to get more hair dye. Then we cut to Brat's parent's house, where Mom is all worried about her since she didn't come home. Then we cut back to Brat trying to re-makeover herself. Then Mom is at Dharla's Diner all by herself waiting for Brat hoping she'll arrive, but she doesn't. We cut to Brat and Friend again, and Brat's hair somehow looks even worse after her re-makeover. Her hair looks like Marge Simpson's and only a small amount of spray tan came off. Lil Pop texts brat saying he wants to meet 30 minutes earlier and she is panicking. I'm a dude, so I don't really have a say in this, but this is the point where I would just back out of my date personally. We then cut home, where Mom is still worried about Brat, but dad insists that they can't stop her from going on her date. I know I said the dad was reasonable earlier, but I feel like at this point, they should at least make sure she's okay.
Now we get to the so bad it's good part of the video. Brat is going on her date and we are finally introduced to Lil Pop(Tate Doppler) and he asks her why she's dressed so poorly. Brat shows her her bad hair and spotty spray tan and says it's horrible, and Lil Pop, who speaks in a stupidly funny, hard to understand voice, agrees that it's not good. A waitress comes over with two menus and because Lil Pop is in a rush, he orders his meal. He orders a steak, and wants it so rare he says "like, blood pouring out of it when you cut it". Brat is about to order, but Lil Pop orders the chicken for her and Brat says she is a vegetarian. Lil Pop laughs and says "for real like you only eat plants and stuff". This reminds me of the football video where the bully says "maybe if you ate meat instead of that banana, you wouldn't be so scrawny". Lil Pop orders for Brat what he describes as "that one salad named after that dude". Why am I finding this character hilarious? Waitress asks if he means the Caesar Salad, and he says that's the one. Lil Pop says he is in a rush because he has plans with his mom later. Wow, even this deadbeat rapper is making time for his mom on Mother's Day(or is he?). Chloe really is a brat. At home, Mom finally caves and says she is going to Friend's house to get Brat to come home. Back with Brat and Lil Pop, they get their dinner and Lil Pop tells waitress to bring the check. We then see Lil Pop cutting his blue rare steak saying it's just how he likes it, and they shows closeups of him chewing the steak. Which is pretty gross. Lil Pop says "you got to eat your food Becca". Brat is offended and says her name's not Becca. Now she is starting to regret going on this date. Brat sees a mom and her daughter at another table eating Fettuccine Alfredo, which Brat was supposed to make for her mom, and she is starting to regret running away from her mom. Then a random girl(Alexa Cate) walks in and calls Lil Pop babe and is confused when she sees Brat with him. She informs her that her name is Becca and she is Lil Pop's date. Apparently, Lil Pop didn't have plans with his mom after all. Brat is hurt because of what she had to go through for the date. Lil Pop insults her saying she looks like an Oompa Loompa and she should go back to Wonka's factory. Brat calls Lil Pop a trashy wannabe rapper, throws her "salad named after that dude" at her, and leaves.
We then cut to Friend's house where Friend tells her mom(Maricella Ibarra) that she will do the dishes because it's Mother's Day. Brat's mom is knocking at the door looking for Brat, but Friend's Mom tells her she is on her date with Lil Pop. Friend's mom invites her inside, but she decides to go home. We then cut home where Brat has returned and has made Fettucine Alfredo for her and her mom. Brat tells her she was right about everything and she realizes rules are important. I'll give credit where credit is due, this video sent that message MUCH better than Jay's kidnapping video. Mom tells Brat she will take her to a salon tomorrow to get her Oompa Loompa makeover fixed, but Brat wants to go to school. Mom says that it's a very special case however and she will let her skip school. Dad walks by and is happy to see that Mom and Brat have made up and love each other again. And that's the end.
Conclusion
I didn't like this video when I first saw it and if you asked me even about a month ago, I would've called Lil Pop Tate's worst character. But after rewatching this, I realized Lil Pop is actually kind of hilarious(maybe not intentionally, but still). But Logan's character is bland as always, and she was acting like a real brat even if the mom was being a little strict at first. 5/10 but only because Lil Pop gives it some so bad it's good points. See you next review.
Tropes Used:
Restaurant named Dharla's, pasta dish, message of the video repeated multiple times, vegetarian stigmatized for not eating meat(not really talked about, but this is actually a fairly common trope), typecasting, shitty music montage.

2024.05.29 02:30 dunsdidthehare Seinfeld influenced by old sitcom Dobie Gillis?

Just wanted to see if anyone else sees the parallels or if Jerry/Larry have commented on any influence the sitcom 'The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" (1959-1963) might have had on Seinfeld, I love both shows and they have eerily similar tone/ensemble dynamics imo.
The main gang:
Dobie Gillis Very close amalgam of Jerry/George, alternates between bemused mostly reasonable everyman and anxious, conniving schemer and flatterer depending on the situation, constant stream of dates/crushes that end in failure. A high schooler at the start of the show, he goes through college and the army by the last season
Has his own 'Lloyd Braun' in the form of Milton Armitage, played by Warren Beatty.
Maynard G. Krebs Dobie's best friend, bad/good influence, as close to Kramer as I've seen in pop media, an OG 'hipster doofus' complete with killer record collection, allergic to steady work, lives by his own rhythms, with a sort of roundabout wisdom and wholesomeness. Played brilliantly by Bob Denver, wish he was more known for this than playing 'Gilligan' although I love GI too.
Zelda Gilroy The woman, and smartest of the bunch; Not completely like Elaine, for instance more overtly in love with Dobie but (like Elaine) enjoys sitting back and pointing out the ways his latest pursuits are dumb and doomed to fail. She's way too good to him tbh
I could go on, Dobie's mom and dad are more regular characters than Morty and Helen but very similar, alas there's no Frank/Estelle that I can remember but Dobie's teachers and authority figures are pretty funny too and the show overall is as cynical/acerbic as one could probably get away with for that time period.
Very underrated, afaik it never got syndicated widely like many lesser shows from the era, I only ever saw it on Nick and Nite in the late 80's. Just getting all this off my chest feels good lol

2024.05.29 02:17 No1Important1127 A lot of Indie Animated Shows aren’t very good.

Now before you nail me to a cross for the heresy I’ve committed, let me explain my self. Indie Animation is extremely impressive. The fact that people are becoming so confident and passionate that they are able to make full on shows with only the support from fans is definitely impressive, and just shows how much big studios are out of touch. I have nothing but respect for the people who work on Indie Animation Projects, both the animators and creators. That being said, a lot of them aren’t good. I would use Hazbin Hotel as an example, but that isn’t exactly “Indie” anymore, so I’ll use Helluva Boss and an example. Now I started off really liking the show. It was funny, nicely animated, and the voice actors gave it their all. But as the series when on I started to lose what made it appealing. It became a shitty romantic comedy drama. The characters that either become daddy issues incarnate are just cardboard cutouts of what their meant to be (or both), and I lost all of what made it funny for the sack of unnecessary drama. Another one I don’t really like is Murder Drones. It tries to both an episodic show while also trying to tell a consistent story, and it just ends up being confusing. I gave up on watching it around episode 2 or 3 because I didn’t know what the fuck was happening anymore. Now, to end this off with a positive note, there is one that I actually like. The Amazing Digital Circus is by far the best Indie Animated Series so far. There are only two episodes, but in my opinion it’s better then the other two I’ve listed. I really like it, and I pray to the lord above that it doesn’t end up being another Helluva Boss

I'm re-watching all seasons and curious if there is anything to look for. Specific scenes, links between seasons (if any?), certain characters, funny moments, etc. I have adhd and sometimes miss important details or scenes on shows/movies.

2024.05.29 02:00 Quentin_R94 Rants from a 200 hours beta player

After spending more than 200 hours on the beta, i played 4 hours of the release.
My opinion ? Revert ALL GAMEPLAY CHANGES or at least makes the game TWICE AS FAST (and that's the bare minimum)
It's HORRIBLY SLOW and feels so bad to play now. Characters are way too big, stages feels so little.
Why did they change the core mechanics ? Why did they change the thing that made this game incredible and special ?
They COMPLETELY destroyed the speed of the game. The game feels horribly slow and every characters feels like playing as a truck. I mained Arya and Harley and now they are slower than the Superman of the beta. Great.
Because the game is so slow you now cannot react anymore to ennemy mistakes the way you could before which makes you whiff even more hits, than still won't be punished anyway because your opponent also won't be able to react, which makes the neutral game a joke.
But the punish game is even worse because you cannot combo most of the time except if the opponent decides to unplug his controller. And even then good luck.
Edgeguards were probably some of the funniest shenanigans of the game and are now basically the least fun part of the game because it's just way too slow. Ladder combos are the only working ones, and even then it works barely. As i said i played Arya which main gameplay ARE ladder combos, and even then they works like 50% of the time.
The zoom makes 1v1 kinda better but makes 2v2 absolutly horrible, which is bad when the whole point of the game is 2v2.
Every projectile characters are unplayable because of the zoom (Tom and Jerry became litterally unplayable because you cannot see Jerry after throwing it, you cannot see most of Lebron balls bouncing against walls anymore....)
This feels more than a beta than the beta.
For none core mechanics issues :
The ONLY good thing about this game currently is that new stages are good, and new characters also. But i still just cannot get around those new mechanics and i just feel like those stages and characters would have been even better during the beta.
It's a shame cause this game was fantastic, and i only waited for it's release to be incredibly angry at seeing what they did to what possibly was my favorite platform-fighting game of all time (i found it better and funnier than smash bros even) They should revert every changes gameplay wise. Also the new economic system is a joke and not a funny one.
TLDR : You destroyed your game. I genuinely hope you'll revert it. If you will, i'll probably come back to it and even never leave it. But as it is now, it's not worth it. Would'nt recommend, for veterans and newcomers even.

2024.05.29 01:58 Gallantpride Writing for superhero fandoms is its own special sort of complex

Most other media either have only one writer or they stay mostly consistent despite their various writers. DC and Marvel in particular have basically no consistency. DC and Marvel comics are an almost unique medium unto themselves in that everything varies so much all the time. Not even adaptations are one-to-one. The most "accurate" adaptations are still barely like the concurrent comics.
Characters are constantly changing personalities, character dynamics, relationships, and even designs. Most of these characters are 40+ years old and only barely resemble what they originally did.
I don't know much about Marvel. But, I am pretty sure a large portion of the DC fandom (especially Batman fans) basically don't read the comics. The few that do pick and choose. A lot of fans nowadays won't touch anything made prior to 2000, or even 2011.
The amount of people taking from other fanworks or from adaptations leads to really wonky misconceptions. I've seen enough Tumblr posts trying to debunk common fanon misconceptions.
I write certain character as a villain/anti-villain as he was years ago but a lot of his fans prefer his newer, softer characterization. Other writers have been told they write him OOC and "too mean" when that was literally his characterization in the past.
Warning for referring to sexual assault.
But I was reading this one fic where a character was assaulted by a villain. A fan of his said it was OOC... but it's basically canon. The text never confirmed it but it's heavily implied there was assault. The character in question has a lot of fans because he's "cool" and "funny", plus the comics have tried really hard to ignore this one scene and has all-but retconnned it, so some of his newer fans don't even remember it. The extra weird thing is that the guy is basically a serial killer. Torturing people is fine but rape is too far?
With my fanfics, I mainly stick to a pre-2010s era. I feel a bit weird not including some of the new characters that people love so much, but then again I don't care for them myself. I always make sure to tag my fic so people know it's based on so-and-so era of comics.

I did it! I finally did it! 5 months later...
And I've finally completed my first playthrough. What an incredible experience. I chose "give-in" Durge route. It was riotously funny. I've finally completed the main story's campaign. What an experience. Playing bg3 taught me SO much about character interactions, environments, and storytelling.
I feel like I've finally checked off the bucket list for a DnD campaign. While it may not have been the tabletop experience, I consider this a true DnD experience. And an audio-visual one, too! How awesome.

ROTI Characters Worst to Best
Previous posts: TDI, TDA, WT
Note (will delete later): I'm really tired rn and want to do some other stuff, so I'll respond to more comments later
ROTI Character Ranking
13: Staci (My Great Great Grandpa Invented Better First Boots) - Out of all my least favorites throughout each season, Staci is the least offensive as a character designed to be an annoying throwaway first boot, which speaks volumes about the rest of this cast. But it doesn't mean I have to like her. On top of having a grating voice, I find her to be a very lazy character. And the existence of Island Ezekiel proves that Total Drama is capable of creating more nuanced and three-dimensional first boots. She did provide some funny reactions from others though
12: Anne Maria (Heart Beneath the Tan) - Anne Maria is a character I found annoying in hindsight but has grown on me since. Despite having some of the same flaws that I really look down on Justin for, Anne Maria’s flaws are made far more tolerable and utilized better with her rivalry with Jo. She has some pretty funny moments and has a surprisingly more likable personality than what it initially seems. But I wish she got expanded on a bit more outside of her role in the Mike and Zoey love triangle. While not bad, the plot didn't do her a ton of favors for me and even brought out her less likable qualities. She acted very petty towards Zoey, and I don't think canon portrayed her any better or worse than what was warranted. Her elimination was unfortunate though
11: Mike (Multiple Personality Traits) - For how controversial he is, he was pretty good this season. Putting aside the questionable premise behind him ignoring his doctor's orders, his MPD was handled better this season and treated more as a legitimately serious issue for him. And while I don’t find him the most entertaining, he is definitely far from bland. He served as a surprisingly good catalyst for drama, and his flaws actually got utilized in an interesting way. And while he is probably the most in the wrong during the Love Triangle, you can easily sympathize with his motivations. Zoke was actually wholesome and healthy here. And it was nice seeing Mike get accepted for his disorder and learn from his mistakes. He also has some surprisingly good one-liners and was quick to sus out Scott. Plus you gotta appreciate all the times he saves Zoey
10: Jo (The Cutthroat Tomboy) - At her best she’s great, fantastic even. From her general demeanor coupled with her array of zingers, her juicy rivalries, and even some occasions of big-braining the challenges, Jo’s a fun character with a lot to like. She also had some nice depth with her secret girly side, even yielding some funny moments. However, there were two episodes that showed her to be a complete dumbass, from her performance in episode 4 (not-to-mention her hypocrisy towards Brick), to betraying her only ally for no reason (episode 9). While stupidity is not always a bad thing, it felt contradictory to Jo’s character and just didn’t do her any favors for me. All things considered, she’s a good but flawed character
9: Lightning (Maximum Physical, Minimum Brain Power) - He's pretty entertaining with some especially hilarious moments. But there's not a ton that appeals to me beyond that. While his physical prowess is really good, he didn't really have an exceptional challenge performance to back it up. I also think Jo would've been a better finalist than him. But his placement was pretty harmless, all things considered. With that said, I think he's better off losing since winning would reward his dad's behavior. Speaking of which, I really would've liked to see his background with his dad get expanded on
8: Dawn (The Cute Psychic) - At one point, I criticized Dawn for having unexplained unrealistic abilities that didn’t fit in with the Total Drama universe. But looking back, I don’t actually care about that. Despite only lasting for five episodes, Dawn left a pretty great impression on me. She has a nice and very likable personality. Her gimmick is unique, served as a great plot device to flesh out other characters, and even provided some surprisingly funny moments. Though it's not like she's too perfect either. Not only did she creep others out multiple times, but her tendency to just see the good in others prevented her from sussing out Scott earlier. And as for utilization, she helped B communicate his ideas to the team, which played a part in them winning. And she served as a good catalyst for Scott's run as a villain. Overall, Dawn is a great pre-merge boot, and people need to calm down about her being "overrated" or "underrated"
7: B (The Man of Swag) - Sure the dude doesn't talk. But he pulled some of the coolest feats in challenges, all the while exuding a cool and confident aura. Similar to Dawn, he was another great early boot, and Scott getting him out early was a good move as he would've steam-rolled the competition otherwise. His scream at the end was also funny, and you gotta give him plus points for his drip
6: Sam (The Pro Gamer) - While I don’t find him the most charming, he makes for a great underdog character with a great personality to back it up. He is very self-aware and humble, which makes him both funny and likable. He took things slow with Dakota and stayed true to his authentic self around her, which eventually won over her love and appreciation. Speaking of which, Samkota is also a very well-done relationship with great build-up and great jokes. And while I'm not the biggest fan of Dakota's turn into a monster, it carries some amusing irony in that it changes who the bigger and smaller person in the relationship is
5: Dakota (The Biggest Thing Ever) - Dakota is a character I slept on at first. I found her rather whiny and annoying with her lack of participation in challenges. But overtime, she really grew on me. On top of having a unique reason to join the competition, she has one of the most complex personalities in the cast with some great development to back it up. And like I said with Sam, Samkota is a great relationship that complements her development well. Dakotazoid was very unfortunate and unneeded, and seeing her in a dumbed down state was just hard to watch. But even then, she had some very badass moments and saved others from mutant creatures multiple times
4: Scott (The Scheming Dirtbag) - Another one of the better villains in the series, this guy is a fantastic blend of comedic and threatening. He had a versatile set of humor, whether it was his ruthless and cunning demeanor, his various quips towards others, or his confessionals that utilized pain-magnet humor in a far more creative way during his plotting. Coupled with this, he had a surprisingly effective strategy that got rid of some of the big threats early, all the while knowing how to exploit people's flaws. And can I just say, his strategy was not stupid. Being a part of a losing team was a great way to make himself not come off as a threat in the merge. And even if he didn't totally succeed in having a lot of influence by then, he was still able to adapt in other ways. This was shown no better than how he exploited the friendship trio, from gaining Zoey’s trust, to taking advantage of Cameron and Mike’s flaws. Unfortunately, some of his schemes weren't without missteps in execution. And from a personal standpoint, his episode 9 iteration made him villainous in a way that was far more aggravating than fun to watch. Though I think his schemes made sense conceptually, with most of his missteps being hiccups rather than character-ruining moments, akin to making a careless mistake on a math problem you otherwise knew how to do. The dude was also crafty and knew how to utilize his newfound shark-tooth. On that topic, his rivalry with Fang was really fun on his end. I found his karma pretty over-the-top, but it doesn't make me like him any less and just made me feel bad for him to a degree. While he isn’t without flaws and doesn’t quite reach the same highs as Alejandro for me, he still remained one of the most entertaining characters of the season and is a fantastic villain in his own right
3: Brick (I Salute You) - From top-notch humor, fantastic interactions (most notably Jo), to his general work-ethic, Brick is simply a chad and fills all the boxes in what makes a character good. But best yet, he's a true hero and an all-around admirable person. He also has depth and subversive elements to his character, most notably his goofy side which you don’t usually expect in someone with his background. He even sacrificed his position in the game to save the friendship trio, rightfully earning their salutes. And above all, he's just a blast to have on screen. Despite not making it too far, not a single moment of screen-time was wasted with Brick. While he may not be my personal favorite, he rightfully earns his spot as a universally-liked character
2: Cameron (From a Bubble Boy to an Elite Badass) - While he has a rough start and has a couple of cheesy moments, I thoroughly enjoy Cameron's run in his debut season. Despite having the physical strength of a fly, the dude proved himself indispensable to the team multiple times, pulling a handful of big-brain strats to help complete challenges more efficiently. He was also the first one to figure Mike's MPD out and help him with it, making for an excellent friendship. On that topic, he had a pretty good social game and did a great job of staying under the radar, but also knew when allies were worth keeping or not. This all culminated in his legendary performance in the finale, which was both impressive and even solidified him as a true hero. Despite entertainment-value not being his strongest suit, he has other endearing qualities to him, from his fascination with everything he sees and experiences for the first time in the outside world, to his friendships and rivalries with various people (my personal favorite being his friendship with Zoey). Bottom-line, Cameron is simply a feel-good character with a lot of really cool moments and an incredibly satisfying arc, making for one of the most deserving finalists in the series and one of my personal favorite protagonists
1: Zoey (The Girl Next Door) - It isn’t until after Mike’s elimination that she peaks. And when she does, she has some of the best moments in the series. But even before, I found her highly endearing. Her passive tendencies are relatable and have a lot of comedic moments surrounding them. She is a good blend of being kind all-the-while not being too perfect. Despite this, she was never straight-up unlikable. She is also easy to feel bad for with how much she goes through, from the love triangle mess to her kindness being taken advantage of by multiple people. This all culminated in her becoming more bitter and vengeful in the later episodes, leading to Commando Zoey. While rather corny at times, Commando Zoey is such a cool and badass climax to her being pushed around throughout the season. Plus, her arc comes in full-circle with a very satisfying and wholesome resolution. Her friendship with Cameron and her rivalry with Scott are both some of my personal favorite interactions in the series, and I think a good chunk of the merge episodes really exemplify why (especially episode 10). I also really like Zoke this season. On Zoey’s end, it was nice seeing her accept Mike for his disorder. And even putting aside my opinion on her, I’d argue she acted the most reasonably out of the three during the Love Triangle and did the most to actually try to fix the situation. It’s also worth noting, the friendship trio all share common ground in growing up isolated, which makes the three of them bonding all the sweeter. Same deal as Cameron, while I wouldn’t call her the most deep or well-written, Zoey is just such a feel-good character backed with a satisfying arc with a fantastic resolution. She also had some surprisingly nuanced lines and good quips here and there (mainly towards people who actually deserved it). And above all else, she’s absolutely adorable. For all these reasons and more, Zoey is the best part of this season for me. Though with this lineup, you can make a case for almost any of the characters

2024.05.29 01:16 PowerWisdomCourage07 Bunnie Rabbot was the best thing the old comics did and Sally Acorn was a mistake.

Bunnie Rabbot is the best Sonic character in the old comics. I wish they'd bring her back. She's a good character idea.
Antoine is a boring meme character. He is a wuss unless the writers decide he isn't. Rotor is boring and everything he invents detracts from Tails's role as the inventor. Nobody is impressed with the skunk self insert or guy Sally. None of the other Knothole characters have anything interesting going on. Sally's role as the grounded down to earth one is boring, we have seen this a million times in other cartoons already, Sonic doesn't need someone in his ear telling him to think things through. Sonic doesn't rebel against injustice because he wants to restore some "rightful" heir to the throne with a pool of magic orange juice, Sonic rebels against injustice because he is a hero and that's what heroes do.
Look at these Archie comics. They're a mess. I loved going through the Sonic Mega Collection Plus covers as a kid and wondering what stories might hide within them. Turns out they're bad fanfiction. Even when you ignore all the ken penders stuff. They had so long to invent new villains after Eggman died. And they couldn't do it. This franchise is more obsessed with Eggman than the Batman franchise is obsessed with Joker. It can only invent memorable villains when they're evil Sonics or evil Eggmans or evil Eggman minions. Or rarely, evil Echidnas. The IDW staff deserve praise for not repeating this comic's mistakes. I wish they waited a few more years to do the Zombot story. Was a bit too early for something so big.
Bunnie Rabbot is so cool. She has a unique way of talking. This helps her stand out. Her cool mechanical limbs also stand out. Her cool mechanical limbs also stand. Haha, comedy. She works for action stories. She works for emotional moments. She can be written to be fearless and invincible or vulnerable and emotional and it works. She can have a nightmare about her robot limbs. She can talk to someone about it afterwards. She can help the story explore dark concepts without drifting into self parody like Shadow the Edgehog who watched the ATF gun down his sickly adopted little sister with AIDS on the Eggman family's first Death Star of THREE. Seriously, Eggman, watch another scifi film, have you considered Terminators or Sandworms? Bunnie Rabbot is the coolest. She can punch someone from really really far away. I am not attracted to characters with the proportions of looney toons characters but her personality is very appealing. She's awesome, man. They should bring her back. They probably can't but they should do it anyway. What is sega going to do, sue itself?
They should also bring back that little round Eggman fangirl on the grounds that she's funny. What was she, a Chinchilla?

THE CASE FOR OMEGA-3 SUPPLEMENTATION TO LOWER AGGRESSION

People who regularly eat fish or take fish oil supplements are getting omega-3 fatty acids, which play a critical role in brain function. Research has long shown a basis in the brain for aggressive and violent behavior, and that poor nutrition is a risk factor for behavior problems. Penn neurocriminologist Adrian Raine has for years been studying whether omega-3 supplementation could therefore reduce aggressive behavior, publishing five randomized controlled trials from different countries. He found significant effects but wanted to know whether these findings extended beyond his laboratory.

WHAT ARE ALTERNATIVES TO OZEMPIC AND WEGOVY AND ARE THEY SAFE?

With summer around the corner, telehealth outlets and medical spas are going into hyperdrive advertising the sale of semaglutide, the active ingredient in popular weight-loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy. Recent shortages of the brand-name drugs have opened the door to copycat versions that, while legal, also raise some concerns for consumers, says Kelly Ann Barnes, Northeastern professor of pharmacy law. The copycat drugs are made by specialized pharmacies known as compounding pharmacies, which are allowed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make off-label

I get times where I'm pressing wasd keys and it will play them for multiple seconds at a time after ive pulled my hands away. at times i can press keys in succession and pause as if i lagged it will reply all keys until completion no matter the combo. Just delayed Can't quite record it but believe me when I say it's like it's glitching or lagging. it's almost as if a ghosts typing for me seconds later at time. I've tried 3 keyboards same issue, I've reset drivers, reinstalled... I've held the power button on pc to reset ...ive reset pc a few times and i still come across this issue. the video bellow is unlisted, but it shows me quickly pressing a and then d key over and over video shows character taking multiple steps instead of just one
ive also switched usb ports.. i see no increase in my cpu or gpu latency, no visual stutter. Just keyboard seems to cut out from time to time and my character moves around like im losing internet connection (confirmed in 5 games , and 3 keyboards)

2024.05.29 00:47 Legitimate_Test_8488 Funny superhero kid graphic novel type book

Im looking for this book!! It's definitely this old graphic novelish chapter book. The main character is named Funny or Funnypants, he wears blue striped pjs and a groucho mask/disguise mask. The cover of the book has these people shaving his head down the middle in a funny style. The plot of the book had the main character looking at the stars and seeing an alien space ship, then he was told to go to bed or something like that. The antagonists are the Space Girls (play on Spice Girls) and they were aliens from space. I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure the Space Girls were actually men that were dentists or barbershop workers. The main character goes and fights the Space Girls/Barbershop men and they tie him up and shave his head down the middle. I hope you can help!! I've searched for it and can't find the book. I also think I've lost the book for it.

2024.05.29 00:45 zerooskul Your Idea is NOT Your Story

Every time you write do it to be a better writer than you were the last time.
Every time you write a story, write an ending and know how the main conflict will get resolved.
Your idea or the basic synopsis of an outline or pitch is not the story.
I often see folks asking about the quality of their general story idea.
When people ask others if their idea is good they do it like a trailer... but there is no product beyond the trailer.
Or, worse, they'll share their basic notes and ask if they are worth pursuing, as though character attributes is what makes a good story.
Does it matter if others like or dislike the basic idea that hasn't even been outlined or plotted?
No, it does not.
Lord of the Rings can basically be reduced to: a small guy has to throw away a piece of trash and it is really difficult.
Would you want to read that if somebody asked you if that was a good idea for a story?
Luckily JRR Tolkein did write it despite the almost ridiculous simplicity of the idea it is built from.
The film The Gods Must Be Crazy also builds a great adventure out of that basic plot.
Whatever you want to write about that interests you is probably the best thing you can write about.
If it truly moves you, it will probably move others.
If it surprises you, it will probably surprise others.
If it scares you, it will probably scare others.
If you genuinely find it funny others probably will, too.
But don't just write something about some subject that intetests others unless it actually interests you, too.
If you like vampires, write your vampire story.
If you like the uncertainty and weirdness of first dates, write a first date adventure.
If you like cruise ship mysteries, write a cruise ship mystery.
Write what you know, and enjoy writing it.
If you don't know the subject and/or find the researching and writing joyless or even pointless, then (unless it's for school or some necessary report or blog or whatever for work) it probably isn't worth your time to write it.
But it's NOT what the story is about that makes it good, it is the way it is written.
So I love this idea because it is very ingenious, it is not mine:
Scientists on Earth are developing a new weapon which would explode light and that scares Aliens and they come to warn us and threaten us and stop us.
If we would explode light, that could cause a chain reaction that would effect all light, everywhere in the Universe, at the rate of quantum tunneling, and that would destroy the Universe.
Humans ignore the warnings and continue with scientific progress toward the Solaranite Bomb, and so the Aliens use electromagnetic manipulation to reanimate the recently deceased to attack Humans, instead of direct confrontation from the Aliens.
This almost leads to a worldwide zombie panic.
It just ends there; this is the basic breakdown of Edward D Wood, jr.'s Plan Nine From Outer Space long and wide considered by many to be the worst movie they have ever seen.
The final bit that I left out is:
Instead of a worldwide panic, an alien spaceship catches fire and blows up... but it is just one of the many alien ships... and then it just ends.
Ed Wood was long considered the worst director and screenwriter who ever lived, though, nowadays thanks to direct comparison with movies like "The Room" and "Vampire Men Of The Lost Planet" readily available at the touch of a finger, we can see that he wasn't all that bad--but was bad--but also had a few glimmers of obvious genius in his work.
What to do with your idea:
A story goes: situation leads to conflict leads to resolution which becomes a new situation or resolves the entire story.
When the primary conflict is resolved, the story ends.
Scene is long and drawn out like a setup and sequel is abrupt like a punchline and it either leads into a new scene or concludes a chapter or ends the whole story.
Your primary conflict and what it leads to could be anything at all but I want to illustrate with this classic exercise:
Get a man up a tree and have him realize he is afraid of heights. Now get him down.
Situation: Man climbs tree. Primary Conflict: Man is scared of heights and cannot get down. Resolution to Primary Conflict: Man gets down.
When the primary conflict is resolved, the story is over
Scene is his climb and sequel is the realization he is afraid to climb down which leads to scene he ponders a way down leads to sequel it won't work OR sequel he gets down.
If it's sequel it won't work and he is still up the tree then that leads to scene he must try something else. Perhaps a stranger will come by and he can ask them to help him down which leads to sequel the stranger climbs up the tree to help or runs away to get help or throws a rock at the man causing him to fall and he is down.
If it is sequel the person climbs up the tree to help, that leads to scene you now have two people stuck up a tree tying to figure out how to get down.
If it is sequel the person runs away to get help then that leads to scene the man wonders what kind of help will come which leads to sequel the person returns with a tool to help the man get down or the person returns with more people.
If it is sequel the person returns with a tool that leads to scene setting it up and sequel the man gets down.
If it is sequel the person returns with an axe and/or a saw that leads to scene cutting down tree or cutting limb from tree which leads to sequel man is down.
If it is sequel person returns with another person that can lead to scene two people help each other climb up the tree and sequel all three are stuck.
Or that can lead to throwing rocks at the man or forming a human ladder or getting the fire department or stopping traffic to get a ladder off a work truck or confusion about the nature of the emergency bringing a poison control unit out to the tree and they park their truck next to the branch so the man can climb down and just before he reaches the ground they grab him and strap him to a gurney and then they go through all standard poisoning emergency activities like feeding him ipecac and pumping his stomach or maybe the army gets called in and there's a miscommunication about troop movements leading to a huge war or maybe a portal to parallel universe opens and the man walks through it and he becomes the tree and then he finds another portal and it comes out two feet above the branch he was already stuck on so he goes back through and no portals open again anywhere ever or maybe anything you can imagine.
But when the primary conflict is resolved, when the man gets down, however he gets down, the story is over.
The hero may get the girl (or guy) and the gold (or fame or power) but as soon as the primary conflict is resolved--as soon as the plans are transported, delivered, and acted on, the story is over.
Consider the plans from Star Wars IV: A New Hope, the recovery of which were Darth Vader's initial reason for overtaking Princess Leia Organa's Corellian Corvette The Tantive IV, those were the plans which she input into Artoodeetoo that "he" has to get to Obi-Wan, plans that Obi-Wan Kenobi has to get to The Rebels, and it is in an attempt to deliver the plans to the Rebels that, along with Han, Luke, Chewie, Artoodeetoo, and Ceethripio, He discovers the remains of Alderaan as an asteroid field, and when Han Solo decides to pilot The Millennium Falcon over to a small moon, to recalibrate the obviously malfunctioning--or is it?--hyperdrive, they all together discover that it's not a moon, it's a space station, but that's impossible because it is over 2,000 km across, and then they have the opportunity to rescue Princess Leia, who they do rescue and who knows how to extract the data from Artoodeetoo and she knows the way to the secret Rebel stronghold hideout where they need to deliver the plans to, Yavin IV, making Obi-Wan redundant, so Darth Vader kills him, which raises the stakes for Luke, who saw Obi-Wan fall, and to whom the stakes are now as high as they already were for Leia, who saw her home planet destroyed; and so, she told Han how to pilot The Millennium Falcon to the Rebel stronghold hideout where Luke would become a Rebel pilot, and, there, she implemented the plans for their initially intended ends which culminates in Luke's destroying The Death Star, which was the space station they had already been aboard, you'll recall, where Luke had seen Obi-Wan fall; and so, Luke got his revenge; and so, Princess Leia got her revenge, since that was the space station that destroyed her world; and so, Darth Vader's dreams were dashed because Han showed himself to brave enough to go into battle and good enough a pilot to shoot him down; and so, the plans, from the very start of the movie, no longer matter because they were Death Star destroying plans and they had been used to destroy The Death Star, in a way that tied-off a bunch of loose-ends at once in a satisfying climax, and the story is over; and the medal-giving scene seems to just be there because John William wrote a heroes' march and they had a bunch of extras standing around, and unused dressier costumes as opposed to the uniforms and casual-wear costumes worn elsewhere throughout the movie, and so, George Lucas opted to include the medal-giving scene, but the story really ended when The Death Star blew up.
The preceding story description will only really make sense to someone who has both watched Star Wars and read the official novelisation.
Your writing will only get anywhere if you rewrite your story so that it can make sense to someone who doesn't have your personal frame-of-reference and cannot imagine through your mind.
A sentence is a noun and a verb: a thing and an action.
A story is a series of statements about characters and/or things doing things with other characters and/or things with other characters and/or things and/or for other characters and/or things and/or to other characters and or things and/or against other characters and/or things generally for the benefit of themselves or to aid or injure some other character and/or thing, or for some greater ideal than themselves in heroic self-sacrifice for faith that this act will help others survive.
Do this for every character in every new scene:
Who? Do this for every character and every action and every perspective.
What? Do this for every character and for every object mentioned and for every specialized location.
When? Do this with every sentence. Maintain a chronology as a fluidly ordered sequence-of-events and actions, and make sure the reader knows the time of day.
Where? Do this for every location, every character, and every object.
How? Do this for every action and for every sequel and for every situation and for every conflict and for every resolution.
Why? This is unimportant unless you really want to spend the time psychoanalyzing your idea of your character and maybe plotting an entire life history, and perhaps even going so far as inventing a whole history and prehistory for your entire world.
Some do.
Consider the chronology of these examples:
The shot that made [EXAMPLE VILLAIN]'s head explode like a snowball thrown hard at a brick wall was fired after [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] picked up the explodiola gun from the table. [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] had leaned forward to grab it by extending their arm across to it, and then they cocked the hammer back whlie they were turning around. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] called [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] a weenie and, then [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] said "Hasta mañanas, Poopsie!" and finally put their finger to the trigger and then squeezed it back. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] had been performing [STOCK "EVIL ACT"] and wouldn't stop.
Versus:
[CHARACTER EXAMPLE] leaned forward and extended their arm as they reached their hand across the table and then grabbed the explodiola gun. Then they spun around, cocking back the hammer, and then faced [EXAMPLE VILLAIN] performing [STOCK "EVIL ACT"], and they wouldn't stop, they had, in fact, called [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] a weenie; so [CHARACTER EXAMPLE] said, "Hasta mañanas, Poopsie!", stuck their finger to the trigger and squeezed it back. [EXAMPLE VILLAIN]'s head exploded like a snowball thrown hard at a brick wall.

2024.05.29 00:40 Juunlar Arya was indirectly nerfed, and that alone convinces me that the chances of more Game of Thrones representation are effectively dead

I've played a few dozen games, and I'm just heartbroken. :(
The game's new speed also plays much better to characters with projectiles, or who aren't forced to engage. Characters like Superman and Jason who also have armor or large hitboxes are given more leeway. Finn is generating waaay more money; Diana's whip is usable at all lengths; You can't dodge into Jab anymore, so Jake's Punch has no natural way to out play him; Batman's hitboxes are still an affront to god.
Arya received no new direct perks, and her moves from the previous iterations of the game that had fewer usecases than the rest of the cast's (standA, utilt, dtilt) all got demonstrably less usable.
Oh, and don't forget her dash attack. Great kill move, it they don't fall out of it! I can't fathom how they can create this character who has received the most complaints about people falling out of her attacks, and were just like "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if we did it again ahahaha"
It doesn't feel like her moveset was considered at all during these changes, and that the moves themselves are just pasted over without giving time to establish an understand of how she would be impacted. With three of her attacks generally being worse, and her Jab1 no longer as accessible (due to the addition of the Dash Attack), she's in a significantly worse position for neutral, and a worse position for her 50/50 game off of her non-true strings, and a slightly worse position for comboing.
Nothing in melee flows well, and her only projectile is horrid. The fact is, to me, she's no longer fun to play. I am Jack's incredible sorrow.
And what's weird, is that Arya was fairly ever-present during all iterations of the game's lifespan in competition. She was popular enough that you wouldn't wait long before running into her. And yet, even after all this time, she's an afterthought. She has the fewest (I think) collectables in the game. That being avatars, skins, emotes, etc. She has received the fewest amount of direct changes coming into this game, and there's no evidence to support a furtherance of inclusion from GoT/HotD from the trailer, recent marketing, or even (tmk) the datamining.
In fact, recent skins listed show she's not getting a thing:
As well as multiple skins for pride month, which didn't include Arya. In fact, Arya hasn't received a skin since... well, ever? She came with two extra costumes in beta, one got removed, and was replaced with... a Christmas sweater tacked onto her base avatar lol For reference, Banana Guard launched with 1, Jason launched with an "Uber Skin", Joker received 2, and Marvin has 3 (with another on the way)! There's not even any voice lines in the datamining that suggests any GoT characters. The pipeline is empty, tmk. And with HOTD Season 2 coming next, month, there's little chance there will be a better opportunity to drop it. Maybe towards the season finale in August?
Still, Arya feels like relic. A character lost to a time that's past. It's hard to not take offense to the state of the character, when she was the sole reason I wanted to play the game... The game is just so awkward and slow now, and Arya's place in it seems to be so drastically limited that I can't imagine I'll be playing for much longer.
PS: They even took out Arya's ability to change form to taunt at the end of the game. Hardest nerf of all.

2024.05.29 00:33 Correct_Broccoli_350 Anyone relate to Amy Farrah Fowler from the Big Bang Theory TV Show?

God, she reminds me of myself. Studying psychology, but never quite getting it. Able to relate to really logical characters like Sheldon, while also doing her best to be socially aware. I just watched an episode where she wasn't invited with two other characters to go bridal dress shopping and she was extremely hurt and basically thought they were shunning her like people have done to her her whole life. It was so sad and hit a nerve with me but there was like a laugh track for it being a funny TV show. It just hurt to see.... Anyone else relate to her?

2024.05.29 00:32 Suitable-Mud-3690 I thought the Blazing Blade player character was secretly the leader of the Black Fang

So I'm playing my first Fire Emblem game, the Blazing Blade on Switch Online and I named my character Brendan, since it's my name. Then later in the game I heard that a guy named Brendan was the leader of the Black Fang so I kept expecting a reveal where your PC was secretly their leader. Obviously didn't happen, I thought it was funny and wanted to share how the game bamboozled me haha

2024.05.29 00:28 TangerineMammoth9811 Unimportant & Random Questions/Comments About Bridgerton to Lighten the Mood

Several random questions have popped into my head while watching Bridgerton over the years. They are ridiculously unimportant, but if anyone knows, I'd love if you'd take a crack at it:
Can't wait to hear your answers! Does anyone else have anything like this? Please share if so. I don't know why, but I get joy out of these silly little things.
