2024.05.14 15:32 juan_llama Moved my mom in with my family…

Earlier this year we lost my brother suddenly to a seizure. He lived next door to my mom, and for the past 20 years has been looking out for her. She (77) had a major heart attack in ‘99 where it went into v-fib, and her coworker saved her life with CPR. The amount of time it took to resuscitate her left her brain without oxygen, and she has had memory issues since. She’s not the same person that raised me. She lived in a single-wide that was rough, and despite the work that we’ve been doing on it, she couldn’t stay there. She also has some hoarding tendencies. I bought my house a few years ago with a guest room and bathroom on the main floor so that eventually she could move in with us, but was not planning on that until necessary. Well, now it’s necessary. It’s hard. It is a pretty big change to the way our household runs. My wife and I both work full time, and have kids in high school. She LOVES to watch TV, and swears she’s happy just doing that, but I know she needs activity out of the house. We have neighbors her age that want to connect with her, but she has no desire. I’m getting internal and external (her siblings) pressure to get her into card games and senior activities, and I’ve scheduled times to go to events in the community, but she bails day-of. She wants to go to the store all the time, but lacks some motor skills and walks so slow that everything is such a frustrating experience. (Last night at Walgreens, she dropped a 2-liter of Diet Coke and it shot up to the ceiling and across the store like a high school science project, spraying it literally all over the store. ALL. OVER. THE. STORE.) I’m struggling. I lost my dad, brother, and my dog in the last 9 months. I don’t have the patience or energy to deal with this. My wife is struggling too, but she’s silent about this situation. We’re stuck. We feel stuck, and I know that this is the best it’s going to be as she continues to (slowly) go downhill. Her mom and grandmother both died of dementia in a home, and I’m pretty sure that’s the way it’s going to go with her. The signs are all over. I’m still trying to get the land and house out of her name, so that when the time comes for memory care Medicare will foot the bill. From what I’ve read ( I know - a lawyer is the next step) we have to wait 5 years after we get the land out of her name. Wife and I are solid, but just so tired from daily life. It just doesn’t stop. Not really looking for advice, just needed to put this out there. I’ve been a pretty stoic person all my life and don’t complain. Never had to grieve anything really in 44 years, so this past year has been a kick in the balls. I was smoking pot heavily, but quit that this week to help my mental state - so far it hasn’t helped.

2024.05.14 15:31 IrinaSophia Saint Isidor of Rostov, the Fool-For-Christ (+ 1474) (May 14th)

The blessed Isidor (Tverdislov) lived in the middle of the fifteenth century. Though Slavic by birth, he lived in Brandenburg, one of the most ancient cities of Prussia. During those years, the Slavs of this region were fiercely persecuted by the Germans, who were trying to convert the entire population to Catholicism.
When he reached adolescence and perceived the insolvency of the Roman Catholic Faith, Isidor sought to move to an Orthodox Christian land.
Belonging to the wealthy merchant class, he willingly forswore his wealth, his parents, and his inheritance, and for Christ’s sake began to roam from place to place with his staff.
We do not know exactly when Isidor converted to Orthodoxy, nor when he arrived in Russia, but he ultimately settled in Rostov, north of Moscow.
He found a marshy area within the city and chose a site slightly above the water level. There, he built a small hut with bulrush. This hut afforded no protection from the heat or the cold, since it was not covered by anything; it only concealed his great asceticism from the eyes of the world.
The Saint spent his time in the customary manner of fools-for-Christ’s sake. At night, he prayed unceasingly, allowing himself only a brief sleep. His days were spent in the city streets or marketplaces with voluntary acts of foolishness. Occasionally, he would rest his weary body on a pile of waste or manure.
He instructed and taught those who desired spiritual guidance, condemned immorality, and led many souls to the path of salvation. At night, he would pray for all of those who had caused him offense and for those whom he saw wallowing in sin.
“Oh, Isidor!” he often said to himself, and cried out: “You must pass through many sorrows to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
The Saint's love for the Lord was great, wherefore the Lord loved him and granted him the gift of working miracles and of prophecy.
• “On one occasion,” his biographer relates, “a Rostov merchant was with his comrades at sea during a terrible storm. The ship, probably having struck a reef, suddenly stopped and began to be broken up by the waves. The strong force of the sea threatened to destroy it.
“In their despair, all of those on board began to prepare for death. Then, in the midst of their misfortune, imitating the case of the Prophet Jonah, the voyagers decided to cast lots, supposing that the ship had stopped on account of a crime committed by one of the passengers. The lot fell on the Rostov merchant, who was also the owner of the ship. The crowd then threw the merchant into the sea together with a plank.
“Cast by the wrath of his companions into the raging sea, the hapless merchant began to surrender himself to death. Suddenly, the Blessed Isidor appeared before him, walking on the sea as if on dry land. The Saint took the merchant by the hand and asked him, ‘Do you know who I am?’ The unfortunate man, barely breathing, said: ‘Servant of God, Isidor, help me....’
“The Blessed Isidor pulled the merchant onto the piece of wood and, as if propelled by an unseen hand, the plank began to follow the ship that had already departed. When it came alongside the ship, the merchant suddenly found himself on the deck. When the other voyagers saw him in their midst, they were struck with terror and glorified the merciful God, because they understood that a miracle had taken place. The merchant kept silent, because the Saint had strictly forbidden him to tell exactly what had happened.
“When he returned to Rostov, the merchant would make a prostration to the Saint whenever he saw him from a distance; and the latter, passing nearby him, would remind him of his prohibition. Thus, the merchant would always say that God had saved him by an intervention of His Grace.”
The Blessed Isidor reposed on May 14, 1474.
He did not leave his hut at all during the last days of his earthly life, instead praying with tears until the hour of his righteous repose.
At the moment of his repose, an unusual fragrance spread throughout the entire city. Everyone marveled and began to seek its source. They soon discovered that the closer they approached the blessed Fool’s hut, the stronger the fragrance became. Someone ventured to look inside and saw the Saint lying on the ground, face upwards and his hands crossed upon his chest. He announced the death of the man of God to everyone. They buried the Saint in his hut, in the exact spot where he had reposed.
The merchant that had been saved from the sea was at the burial. Finally freed from his bond of silence, he began with sobs to relate to everyone the details of his miraculous rescue.
With the blessing of the Bishop, those who loved and revered Saint Isidor built a wooden chapel near his grave, in honor of the Ascension of the Lord, because the Saint had reposed on the eve of the Feast.
In 1566, by order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, the wooden chapel was replaced by a stone Church. A Priest tried to open the Saint’s tomb, but an invisible power pushed him back. A silver shrine was placed on the grave in 1815, from whence flowed a steady stream of miracles by the Saint.
The celebration of the commemoration of the Saint by the Faithful began on the very day of his repose. Thirteen years later, his name officially appeared on the Russian Church Calendar.

Introduction
Hello, my name is Inkh-Su (인수). I have been roleplaying since 2009 and started playing D&D 2018. I am hoping that you will be interested in my homebrew world of Myhrr. It is a work of consistent passion. I have passed 50 pages of content and have handcrafted over 30 explorable cities, tile-by-tile.
Myhrr is a living world developed by the DM, and a story lead by the players.
I prefer players who want to emotionally invest in NPCs, their party members, and their own characters. My aim is to naturally draw characters together into an interweaving story of relationships, action, and heroism.
My five main inspirations are The Books of Magic, Berserk, Merlin, Odin Sphere & The Last Unicorn.
I adhere to rules that maximize your exploration and sense of curiosity. I don't try to predict players, I just adapt to their actions. I study player strengths & weaknesses to spotlight them and write a balanced story. Depending on backstory, I grant geographical, social, and historical information.
Much of the world is a medieval, war-torn, feudalist place that has just found a respite from war. Power wavers with uncertainty, under the constant threat that war will return. Nobles attempt to secure peace alongside bloodstained battlegrounds. Royalty seizes power by sword, flame, accusation and subterfuge.
Whilst the faith in currency is unshaken, Trade is unstable. Promises are rare. The hunt of witches, warlocks, wizards and druids is ceaseless in a war against the unholy forces of magic and devilry.
Myhrr is plagued with economic inequality and xenophobia. Whilst half-orcs, tieflings, and goblins are capable of citizenship they are treated as second class citizens. Faced with the constant truths of their loathsome origins, demonic history, and biological differences they find little respite among other races.
Where half/elves are constantly bombarded with opportunity, these marginalized races find none.
Dungeons in the world are difficult to find. One requires research of the hundreds of books in the world, or a quick tongue and a fast blade, to take such information. Yet there are riches, power, and secrets hidden away behind the abominations of the deep and the traps that lay within. Those who seek answers in the hidden places of the world are at true risk of death or worse.
Think fast or die, traps don't wait and neither do monsters.
The core of every event lies a mystery. A quandary of history, social intrigue and chasing after evidence. Ancient secrets, political dealings, and criminal ones. The world's history is extensive but only a player who wishes to know the lore of the world will discover it.
One of the things I'm proud of in my game are its people. I've been roleplaying for over a decade and believe that every NPC will have more depth than any player will care about. Ingrained into the world and its culture; they have fears, desires and interact with an intelligence befitting of their environment.
Magic comes with a constant emotional and social contract. Only four classes are considered magical. Sorcerer, Druid, Warlock, and Wizard. All other classes use non-magical flavored versions of their spells. Each class uses magic uniquely, yet none of it is as reliable as sword or bow. Magic, no matter it's origin, has a will of its own.
Most cultures believe sorcery, druidry, and wizardry to be witchcraft.
Sorcerers do not have control over their innate power without having control over their own hearts. Druids must build a true relationship with nature and balance. Warlocks are required to debate and negotiate with cruel devils. Wizards are mysterious and grow in power as they follow a path of wonder.
The world has several holidays and I'd love to watch your character celebrate too.
Finally, the game is played with a flowing system of time. Time moves regardless of what your character is or isn't doing. Players who act quickly, describe their actions, act their dialogue and invest their hearts will quickly find themselves escaping the arm of mere RAW rules and mechanics.
I am rewarded by players who will sit after a game and theorize about NPCs, History and Intentions and have plans on how they want to act on the world. Reactive players are alright, but players who develop a judgment and work to act on that judgment are rewarded.
I am also rewarded by characters who act on and with emotionality to NPCs and with each other. My favorite moments are listening to the building moment of character clashes and support when they make discoveries that reveal pieces of themselves and each other.

2024.05.14 15:01 FarragutCircle Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk, Week 16

Welcome to Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk!
Each week we (u/FarragutCircle and u/fanny_bertram) will be reading 5-ish stories from Jared Shurin’s The Big Book of Cyberpunk, which includes a curated selection of cyberpunk stories written from 1950 to 2022! We’ll include synopses of the stories along with links to any legally available online versions we can find. Feel free to read along with us or just stop by and hear our thoughts about some cyberpunk stories to decide if any of them sound interesting to you.
Every once in a while, we reach out to people who have more insight, due to being fans of the author or have some additional context for the story. (Or we just tricked them into it.) So please welcome u/Kopratic who will be sharing their thoughts on "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick!
Section 4: Challenge
In our fourth and penultimate section, editor Jared Shurin highlights how cyberpunk looks at technology that creates harm when put into practice, and later cites Marshall McLuhan about artists as challengers. (Shurin really seems to like this McLuhan guy.) Amusingly there’s a footnote where he mentions litrpg in passing, though he says there’s no litrpg in this anthology)
“We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick (published 1966; also available in his collection Selected Stories of Philip K. Dick)
Quail’s desire to go to Mars leads him to a memory-implant company so he can remember going to Mars, but complications and revelations and twists ensue, hilariously.
“Speed” by Misha (1988)
I think that Speed is looking for Speelyi-427 on behalf of a computer AI called Juno 888, but after that I’m lost.
“Computer Friendly” by Eileen Gunn (1989; also available in her collection Stable Strategies and Others)
Elizabeth and other kids are tested, and while she passes with flying covers, her new friends might lose their lives unless she can figure out a way to help them in a world where the heavily computerized future uses real brains from people and dogs.
“I Was a Teenage Genetic Engineer” by Nisi Shawl (1989)
The narrator is imprisoned for her reckless genetic engineering, making new incarnations of old gods.
“The Gene Drain” by Lewis Shiner (1989)
A generation ship ends up right back on Earth, with disturbing and amusing differences between the two groups.
That’s it for this week! Check back the same time next week where we’ll be reading and discussing "Deep Eddy" by Bruce Sterling, "The Yuletide Cyberpunk Yarn, or Christmas_Eve-117.DIR" by Victor Pelevin, "Wonderama" by Bef, "comp.basilisk FAQ" by David Langford, and "Spider's Nest" by Myra Çakan.
Also posted on Bochord Online.

2024.05.14 15:01 aznpersuazion Is the Michelin Guide Overrated?

My experience with Michelin in a complicated one. Having gone to one, two, and three Michelin star restaurants across the globe, I've seen Michelin do some great things for restaurants, but I've also seen them bring the demise of others.
Because it's quite apparent what good things come from being highlighted by Michelin, this post is more focused on some of my criticisms of the Michelin guide, and why I think the current structure of Michelin should be changed.
Maintaining "Michelin's definition" of the gold standard..
There have been a ton of amazing restaurants given a one star review. Restaurants don't even need to be "fine dining" to be given a Michelin star, as highlighted by some of the cheap eats that have received a one star review.
But a one star review, can at times, be a curse for restaurants. Often, restaurants receive one star reviews got there by showcasing there strengths. A passion for food and creativity, a desire to share culture or tradition, or an expression of a personal brand of art.
When a restaurant receives a one star review, two things happen.
  1. They begin to get huge influx of customers. Initially.
  2. They start to be compared to other one star restaurants, sometimes even two or three star.
The majority of the time, when a restaurant receives a one star review, the rapidly get a ton of customers wanting to try them. And in just a few months, they start to raise prices. Because money can change people.
And eventually, they start to act as more of a "tourist attraction", and start to lose the original loyal clientele that brought them to where they were in the first place.
Secondly, they begin to compare themselves to the standards of other "higher" Michelin star restaurants.
And that typically means focusing more on a particular brand of fine dining. Hyper-attentive service, an overuse of "micro complex food"(emulsions, purees, colorful vegetation). Just to name a few.
I've seen this unfortunately happen time and time again.
If your customers wanted to go to a Eleven Madison Park, they'd travel to New York. But don't turn your restaurant into a chain of fine dining. You'll start to lose the allure, and it starts to feel like the routine of Mcdonalds or Capital Grille.

2024.05.14 14:52 ExtinctionClub Guy I'm Exclusive with Going on Group Holiday, Told Me After Booking

I (27F) have been seeing this guy (28M) for almost four months, we've been exclusive since the third date as I had a really frank conversation on my expectations and desire for a relationship rather than something more casual. We haven't actually defined the relationship at this point but we are exclusive, and we act like a couple for all intents and purposes.
We recently spent the weekend together and on meeting up, he told me he had booked a week long trip abroad with some colleagues. This is a group of mostly guys and one girl. He has gone away with guys before, I wasn't expecting him to say a girl would be going. I was put out that he only told me about this after the fact of booking, not because I would have objected but because it feels like a lack of transparency this far into dating. I've also recognised that the fact that a girl is going on the trip makes me feel anxious and uncomfortable, but I'm aware this could because of my previous experiences with my ex. I don't know anything about this girl, not even her name. I know nothing about the trip other than the general date they'd be going and the country they're going to.
I'm disappointed as I feel like I'm still in the dark, and he is yet to ask me to go somewhere with him. As an FYI, he has only known these people since September as colleagues. Is there a way to broach my discomfort? I think another facet of this is the fact that we haven't officially said we're boyfriend/girlfriend yet and that's really important to me and he knows that. We have some plans penciled in as far as December so it's not as if he sees me not in his life anytime soon. Any advice?

2024.05.14 14:42 jennithomas321 6 Pro Tip: Invest in a solid LinkedIn profile SEO

LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.
Among all the social media platforms out there, LinkedIn stands out as the go-to platform for professional social networking.
But with over 900 million people using it, how do you stand out?
It requires more than a compelling bio and a polished profile image.
Do You Know??
According to the latest statistics, 40 million people use LinkedIn every week to search for jobs, and three people a minute are hired on the site.
This article will cover:
  1. Keywords
  2. Headlines
  3. Profile completeness
  4. Job title optimisation /Work Experience
  5. URL Optimization
What Is LinkedIn SEO?
How Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) works for LinkedIn???
LinkedIn SEO is all about optimizing your profile and content to boost your visibility and ranking, offering a myriad of opportunities for career progression, business networking, and establishing a prominent presence within your industry.
When you fine-tune your profile’s headline summary, work experience, and skills section with specific keywords, you can boost the likelihood of appearing in LinkedIn’s search results.
Imagine someone searching for specific keywords or skills related to your professional background – a well-optimized profile significantly increases the chances of your profile being featured in their search results.
On top of that, LinkedIn profiles can also show up in traditional search engine results pages (SERPs) like Google, expanding your online presence.
Beyond profile optimization, the impact of SEO extends to your content. LinkedIn posts and, particularly, articles have the potential to rank within LinkedIn’s search engine, showcasing your expertise within the platform.
Furthermore, these articles, with their long-form nature and valuable insights, can also rank on traditional search engines, leveraging LinkedIn’s high domain authority for increased visibility both on and off the platform.

Why You Need to Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile:

An optimized LinkedIn profile is one where every part of your personal profile is filled out and shows audiences what you do, who you are, and what you are an expert in.
This helps your profile rank higher in LinkedIn searches and builds trust among those who might want to connect or follow you.
Do You Know??
Even more compelling? Some 44% of LinkedIn users earn more than $75,000 a year. That’s a considerable bump up from the national median income of $68,703 per household.
Let's Dive in:
6 steps to help improve your LinkedIn SEO optimization for better results.

Step 1: Keywords.

A keyword is a word or phrase that searchers enter into a search engine. Learn more about Keyword Research. Examples of keywords and phrases include:
Example:
In seo bint e jamil, 'Digital Marketing Manager' is the keyword.
For LinkedIn, create a list of 7-10 words or terms that your ideal client would use when searching for the service you offer. For example:
Now, use these keywords throughout your profile in as many sections as possible, including your:

Step 2: Profile Completeness

To rank highly your profile will need to be 100% complete, with every profile section completed. Consider using bullet points rather than paragraphs, and format the text so it’s easy to read.
Let’s take a look at what you should focus on to fully optimize your LinkedIn profile.

1: Images Optimization:

When you’re setting up your profile, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a solid profile picture.
LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.
Among all the social media platforms out there, LinkedIn stands out as the go-to platform for professional social networking.

2: LinkedIn Background Photo:

Background photos are like billboards. You can use this space to show your accomplishments and awards or offer free resources.
LinkedIn Background Photo Optimization
You should also:

3: Craft a Keyword-Rich Tagline /Headline:

Your LinkedIn headline sits just below your profile image and name. Customising your headline is not only critical for SEO, it’s also an important part of your personal brand - how people view and perceive you on the platform.
LinkedIn automatically populates your headline with your current or most recent position – however, you have the option to customise it. Remember, you want the headline to create an informative and impactful snapshot of yourself.
Linkedin Headline Optimization
When creating your headline:

Headline Example:

For a digital marketing manager, a similarly optimized tagline could be, "Innovative Digital Marketing Strategies to Elevate Your Brand's Presence" — placing the target keyword "Digital marketing strategies" prominently at the start.

4. Featured Posts on LinkedIn

The Featured section on LinkedIn is a space on your profile where you can highlight important content.
LinkedIn Featured Section
It’s near the top, below your photo and headline. You can use this section to showcase:
Featured content isn’t permanent, so you can change it up to include new content as regularly as you like!

5.Create a Compelling “About” Section

The About section is the meat of your Company page. Here, you have the space to go into more detail, telling the story of your brand and naturally incorporating relevant keywords throughout.
About Us LinkedIn SEO
Here are some components to consider including in your About section:
Here’s an example of the beginning of an About section for a data analytics company:
At ABC Company, we democratize data analytics, enabling businesses of all sizes to unlock insights through our intuitive, AI-powered analytics platform.
Finally, you can add in some “Top skills” as a way to remind readers what your services are. This also presents another opportunity to add in your keywords.

6.Work Experience

When I’m looking at someone’s experience section on LinkedIn, I’m looking to see if they meet the criteria of the role beyond a job title. Their job duties and achievements give me a better understanding of their scope of knowledge and specific skill sets this role needs.
LinkedIn “Work Experience” section

Fields for LinkedIn experience entries

Each position on LinkedIn has a combination of required (*) and optional fields:

Required fields for LinkedIn Work Experience entries

List your position title, including any relevant keywords. Sometimes job titles benefit from being revised for common searches.
Example: "Content Marketing Manager" might be more search-friendly than "Manager, Marketing Content."

Many companies already have a company profile on LinkedIn and will autocomplete from the LinkedIn Company Page in the dropdown as you type.

Employment dates*

2024.05.14 14:31 LongjumpingGap1636 Overton Window ..

Overton Window ..
Overton Window ..
funny .. as I enjoy this EXQUISITELY beautiful day here on my tiny little spot in this gorgeous, biological planet we call earth .. I am walking around and listening to the odd conversation .. then I scroll through a few spaces on a social sites, read comments here and there .. and conclude that:
the vast majority of the humans in this world .. really and truly .. are deaf, dumb and blind to reality 🥺
there are real people dying in the streets every day, children being starved and abused, animals mistreated and food supplies being tainted .. yet somehow no ones really cares enough to DO anything about these travesties
they’ll complain and they say they’re preparing, however .. are you?
let me ask you .. have you ever heard of the Overton Window 🤔
the actual definition: “The Overton window is the range of policies politically acceptable to the mainstream population at a given time. It is also known as the window of discourse. Overton described a spectrum from ‘more free’ to ‘less free’ with regard to government intervention, oriented vertically on an axis, to avoid comparison with the left or right political spectrum. As the spectrum moves or expands, an idea at a given location may become more or less politically acceptable.”
in layman’s terms, if you want to change the community opinion in the public domain .. to be modified well beyond where they are now .. and your desired goals are SO FAR AWAY to be considered ‘main stream and acceptable’, all you need do is push and shove the community to accept the most extreme, radical concepts .. which would NEVER normally be accepted .. and sit back
because suddenly, incomparison to what you just shoved down their throats is now seen as ‘better than that radical shit’ .. and you win
😢 the bad guys win 😔
THAT describes those deaf, dumb and blind folks today .. they’re so distracted by the fear and anxiety that they have retreated into a coma like state; doing nothing but hoping and praying this radical new world doesn’t happen .. and if and when everything settles down, they’ll be compliant and grateful regardless of the freedoms they just lost
 it’s sick and twisted, yes
friends .. open your mind to see what they’re doing, clear your heart and soul of all hatred, anger and judgement and open up those baby blues Wide Open so you can see, and think, clearly 🙌
and render smart decisions for you and your family .. no we cannot help those dying, the kids in pain and the foods being poisoned .. we cannot save them all but god can and will
what happens tomorrow will be the direct result of the actions (or inactions) of the people within their community
will we stop the madness? only we we awaken .. TOGETHER
god knows us all by name
my personal intentions are to follow GODS requests and not those of the demons pretending to be leaders and rulers and shoving us around
 how about you?
have a blessed rest of your evening 🪷🌱💜 those who shift their mindset out of their darkness and depravity DO win in the end
 we will shift to sheen

2024.05.14 14:18 ExtinctionClub Guy I'm Exclusive with Going on Group Holiday, Told Me After Booking

I have been seeing this guy for almost four months, we've been exclusive since the third date as I had a really frank conversation on my expectations and desire for a relationship rather than something more casual.
Any advice?

2024.05.14 13:22 Honeysyedseo Want to Start Your Own Agency? Here's How to Sign Your First Client Today!

Looking to sign your first client?
Here's a 3-step framework that works every time.
If you do these 3 things
You WILL sign a client.

STEP 1: Craft your offer & define your ICP

If you have a skill you want to monetise, The FIRST thing you need to do is ask yourself:
This is how you come up with your offer.
After you go through this exercise, turn all of your thoughts into a real offer with a Refined Marketing Statement..
"I help X achieve Y through Z"
"I help email marketing agencies book 8-12 qualified sales calls each month on autopilot with omnichannel cold outreach"
Now that your offer is clear, figure out who you want to work with by defining your Ideal Client Profile (ICP).
Figure this out about your ideal clients
For example...
eCom brands in the fitness niche making $100-$500k a year with 20-50 employees.
By getting this specific with your ICP you'll be able to get super targeted with your cold email scripts.
Your ICP will evolve over time, but be sure to start with a specific one.

STEP 2: Build a leads list and write scripts

Using the ICP you just came up with, use listkit to get a list of leads in your target market.
Each ListKit comes with manually verified emails and personalised lines so you don't need to spend any time getting your list ready.
While you wait for your ListKit to be delivered, use your Refined Marketing Statement to write scripts.
I constantly preach the One Sentence Cold Email...
"Hi {name} - {line}
Do you/are you (insert pain point, desire, tech they use)"
Examples:
Make sure this question can be answered with a "Yes" or "No".
As an A/B test, put your One Sentence Cold Email up against a traditional framework like:
"We recently helped client X book 20 sales calls in one month on autopilot from cold outreach.
Would you be open to a quick call to discuss how you can accomplish something similar?"
A typical cold email sequence is typically 3-5 emails, so for your follow ups use things like
Space these follow ups 3-5 days apart for the first 2-3, then 7+ days apart for any additional follow ups.

STEP 3: Launching campaigns

Now that you have ALL of the groundwork laid out with your offer, ICP, leads list and scripts, it's time to start sending emails.
Always start with a high sending volume off the bat.
So purchase 5 domains you can send emails from and use http://inboxy.io to warm them up.
Also be sure you ramp up your sending volume to keep your domain in good health.
At my agency, we start with 10 emails a day for the first week and increase output by 10 each week.
The last step of this entire process is to get set up on a sending platform to automate your outreach.
For just cold email outreach, we always recommend mailshake because of how easy it is to navigate and manage.
Their lowest plan will work fine for this.
Plug in your domain and ListKit, set up your 3-5 step email sequence with scripts, and start sending emails.
By doing this entire process, you'll be in a position where one single reply can be all it takes to sign your first client and jumpstart your agency's growth.
I have my students follow this exact process and start sending from 5 domains within the first week of joining the program.
This process will put you on a great track to signing your very first client.

2024.05.14 13:19 TheGreatGimmick Suggesting Entangled Conduits, a relatively expensive (so hopefully balanced) way to access three powerful effects not yet in the game.

Crafting, Properties, and Appearance

Echo Shard Echo Shard Echo Shard
Echo Shard Conduit Echo Shard
Crying Obsidian Crying Obsidian Crying Obsidian

Picture of Crafting Recipe

Entangled Conduits share most properties with a Beacon, such as placement, size, piston interactions, and so on. They can be mined successfully by hand or with any tool. When destroyed by an explosion, the block always drops as an item. However, unlike a Beacon they only produce a light level of 10, the same as Crying Obsidian.
Entangled Conduits appear somewhat similar to Stonecutters or Enchanting Tables in that they consist of a low 'table' with some animated feature in the center. They have a Sculk-themed color palette, a square base, and a snowglobe-like 'dome' on top. The dome's appearance changes based on the biome theme currently reflected in the Entangled Conduit network (see below).

Usage

Placement

All Entangled Conduits placed in the world belong to the same 'network' (explained below). As such, placed Entangled Conduits keep their chunk loaded (at a level of 31) so as to remain active in this global network.

Interaction

Players can interact with any single Entangled Conduit to toggle ALL Entangled Conduits in the world between all states currently available to the Entangled Conduit network. The available states consist of each unique biome at least one Entangled Conduit has been placed within (explained further below). Only player interaction can activate an Entangled Conduit to toggle between states.
For example, say four Entangled Conduits are placed in the world, with their chunks consisting of the following biomes: Forest, Forest, Ocean, Jagged Peaks. Interacting with any Entangled Conduit in the world would toggle their states in the following order: Forest -> Ocean -> Jagged Peaks -> repeat. To be clear, there are only three states in this setup: Having two Entangled Conduits in the same biome (Forest) still only grants one state to the rotation.
The snowglobe-like dome in the center-top of each Entangled Conduit changes appearance based on the current biome state of the network.

Effect

Entangled Conduits cause their chunk and the chunks immediately adjacent to them to behave as if they were the chunk and biome currently selected by the Entangled Conduit network's state.
This includes spawning (e.g., mobs, frog variants, etc.), fishing rewards, slime chunks, and so on. Biomes exclusive to certain altitudes (e.g., Deep Dark) or temperatures (e.g., Warm Oceans) can still be emulated, though coordinate-dependent effects (e.g., rain turning to snow at sufficiently-high altitudes in some biomes) will not occur at invalid coordinates even if the contributing Entangled Conduit was placed at such coordinates.
Entangled Conduits work across dimensions, but dimension-exclusive effects (e.g., weather and the day-night cycle in the Overworld, the inability to place water in the Nether, etc.) are NOT transferred. For example, if the Entangled Conduit network is used to copy Frozen Peaks into the Nether, goats will spawn (and probably die pretty quickly by charging something they shouldn't haha) but it will not snow and you cannot place water, because you are still in the Nether.

Justification and Preemptive Arguments

Crafting and Value

Entangled Conduits require some of the least-utilized materials in the game, namely Crying Obsidian, Echo Shards, Nautilus Shells, and Hearts of the Sea. This gives these materials more use cases.
Echo Shards tie into the "remote communication" mechanic of Entangled Conduits, since Sculk Sensors also allow for "wireless" signals. As a component, the Conduit mainly just lends its name to the final product, but it fits thematically in that sense, since a conduit is something that acts as a channel for the transmission of something (in this case biomes).
Requiring Echo Shards and especially Hearts of the Sea to craft causes Entangled Conduits to be a non-renewable and relatively difficult-to-obtain resource, similarly to Shulker Boxes. This limits how much they can be abused, and justifies their extreme power with a relatively high cost.

Chunk Loading

Usage
Chunks becoming unloaded is a major source of frustration for anyone that did not build their base within a spawn chunk (and doesn't wish to 'cheat' by using commands). Even if you did build your main base in a spawn chunk, remote locations of interest may be found outside of this range and become unloaded. This is most relevant for redstone contraptions: Say you built a machine that is supposed to activate whenever the sun goes down. You might think that such a trigger should be a 'global' effect, but your machine will not work unless it is inside a loaded chunk!
Current Solution
The current solution to this problem is to create a chunk loader, but these are relatively complex, tedious, often annoyingly loud, need to be hidden (or else be an eyesore), take up space in both the Overworld and the Nether, can mess with Nether Portal networks, and most importantly break when their server shuts down, making them unsuitable for Realms in particular (Realms servers hard shut down when no players are online).
So, although chunk loading is technically currently possible, a reliable way to keep a chunk loaded is so useful and sought-after that a dedicated mechanic is long overdue in my opinion.
Potential Abuse?
Now, obviously the game only loads a limited number of chunks for a reason: If too many chunks are loaded, performance issues may arise. However, this is already possible to abuse using the above chunk loaders. Entangled Conduits would be even more difficult to spam out into the world than the current chunk loaders, because each Entangled Conduit requires a Heart of the Sea to craft. Not only are Hearts of the Sea a non-renewable resource that cannot be farmed, but they require a rather lengthy process to obtain on top of that!

Remote Redstone Activation

Current Solution
Currently, there are extremely limited (and convoluted) ways to remotely activate a redstone machine. You can simply place down an extremely long redstone signal (which requires a ton of time, redstone, and a pathway from your machine to your activation location), you can use a timed trigger (e.g., setting up a clock to trigger later, or using world effects like the day-night cycle), or you can use Sculk mechanics for more short-ranged but nonetheless "wireless" signals.
Entangled Conduits have obvious advantages over all of these, most notably their simplicity and unlimited range. All you need is an Observer facing any Entangled Conduit and it will detect when the state of the global network changes for any reason.
Yeah Yeah, Another Wireless Redstone Suggestion, Yawn...
To be fair, Entangled Conduits do not directly provide "wireless redstone", and have many limitations that hamstring their usefulness for that purpose.
Instead, an analogy I would draw involves a system I made in my survival world for my Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber recall machine: I set up a redstone circuit that detects when I sleep through the night, using a global mechanic (time of day) to communicate with my system back at my main base over any distance. Natural day-night cycles iterate between light levels continuously, while skipping the night by sleeping abruptly changes the light level, which my system detects. So, when I am ready to be recalled, I can remotely trigger my home base's Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber from anywhere in the world to bring me back just by sleeping.
Entangled Conduits would merely make global communication like this a bit more straightforward. However, they still:
  • are exclusively manually-activated (e.g., like Levers as opposed to Pressure Plates or Observers)
  • are all tied to the same global network (and thus only one device can use them at a time, otherwise you would accidentally trigger other devices using the network)
  • do not directly interface with any redstone components (they produce no signal, the only way to use them is through Observers sensing them change state).
  • are far, far more expensive than other "wireless" options like Sculk Sensors or even Calibrated Sculk Sensors.
Since we only recently received the capability for "wireless" signals with Sculk, one of the main criticisms I foresee about this post is that the existence of Entangled Conduits might make some Sculk mechanics obsolete. However, that isn't the case at all, as the two serve drastically different purposes.

Biome Emulation

Entangled Conduits...
  • do not make exploration obsolete. In fact they actively encourage exploration, since you still need to find the desired biome in the first place.
  • create an emulated biome that is quite small, only taking up 9 chunks (the Entangled Conduit's chunk and those immediately adjacent).
  • cannot fully mimic any biome, since most unique features of biomes (e.g., terrain, generated structures, ore/resources, etc.) are created at world spawn, which emulating a biome afterwards does not affect.
  • are relatively expensive in that they cannot be farmed, limiting their usage and therefore ease of abuse.
All of that being said, there are obviously many, many use cases for emulating various biomes in specific chunks at will. I won't be able to list them all here, so instead I argued for the mechanic's downsides (and therefore balance) in the above list.
What do you think? Thank you for your time and feedback!

Hunger…
It’s all that drives us. It’s all that unites, connects us… All that pulls us, all that defines and binds us…
Our story began long ago. It all started with a single parasite cell. Not the greatest primordial ancestor indeed, but every Apex Predator started somewhere. But back to our history… That very first cell was our first grandmother, as well as the beginning of our entire civilization. Hard to tell what was the trigger for it’s evolutionary change, as time wipes all. Perhaps it was desire to become something better? Awakening? Or maybe just spontaneous mutation in one of the genome chains, occurring by changes in environment? It really doesn’t matter. All what matters is that that cell evolved…
It didn’t happened quickly of course. Our first grandmother was no different than an average cancer cell that is present in nearly every life form, even us. It just growed into one small neoplasm, or simply, a cancer tumor. But that tumor slowly made it’s way to the brain. We know that because that’s how we, as well as our ancestors, assimilated everything for millennia…
It is impossible to determine which one of the prey species was honored to become the meal of our first ancestor, but it was clear that that feast was something that never happened before. That tumor did not just sucked the nutrients dry till the brain dies from the protein starvation, taking the tumor along the way with it. No, that tumor assimilated it. And that tumor learned. Learned from it. And it saw the world for the first time.
Assimilation is not as easy as other inferior beings think. First, your cell needs to find the prey cell. Then it needs to envelop the cytoplasm of that cell to properly assimilate it. However, after assimilating the “Host”, your cells need to take properties of assimilated cells and even function for the prey organism for the time being so it won’t suspect anything. It is a long, tedious and fatiguing process. That’s why we just ambush other prey organisms, tear them apart, and devour them for protein supplies, to avoid all that bustling.
And say what, the prey doesn’t make it easier for us either. As our first ancestors quickly learned, prey can be sentient too. It is inferior, weak, pathetic… And yet it can create great weapons to stop us. For [decades] these beings create astonishing amount of that pesky, venomous and disgusting antibiotics and chemicals to kill our minds. For thousands of [years] they set our flesh on fire, making us scream as we die in agony cell by cell.
And yet we prevail. When they make those chemistry compounds they call “Cure”, we gain immunity to it. When they set our bodies ablaze, we spray them with our blood and teeth, making their bodies to slowly blister as we eat them inside out. When they close their doors on us, we use ventilations, slithering right above their heads or below their {feet}. When they use special protection suits, we just tear them apart. And when they completely quarantine themselves, thinking that they are safe, we pretend to be one of them, striking from behind…
What is the most amazing thing about this prey? Well, aside that their flesh is delicious… They are clever. And they know how to build stuff. Weapons, tools, technology… Everything to increase the odds of survivability and comfort of their pathetic kind. And by devouring their minds, we gain all this knowledge as well! We learned how to grow cattle to saturate our hunger, we learned how to create faster means of transportation that even the fastest members of our swarm can’t out-crawl with their appendages. And most importantly; we learned how to reach the skies…
Among the prey species that we feast upon, there was a special class, or caste, of highly educated specimens, who called themselves “scientists”. These specimens learned how to use metal, fuel, radiation, and other inedible and in some cases straight up harmful components of nature, and turned them into what they called “Spacecraft”. A special vehicle, capable of leaving the atmosphere of our planet. Something that sounded like fantasy, even for the boldest ones of us, who sometimes managed to grow wings and flew high in the sky. It was a fantasy until we consumed their heads and the knowledge they possessed along the way. From them we gained knowledge of the schematics of these space vessels, and most importantly; the schematics of FTL drives. Devices capable of traveling among the stars with “superluminal” speed. And so, after conquering and discovering each and every corner of our planet, we soared to the great unknown, right into the void…

We flew among the stars in our glorious ships made out of strongest titanium fusions and covered in our eternal flesh. Yes, what wasn’t made out of the metal hulls and electronics, was made out of sheer muscles and flesh tissue. So many cells… So much nutrition… We could withstand decades without the food and still hunt like our greatest hunters back on Mupan(Apparently, that’s how prior sentient prey species happened to call our planet, and we didn’t really bother to rename it, as for us it was widely known as just plain“Ground, floor, or land”). Our strongest weapons, combined with our most dissolving acid spitters, made us the strongest and most feared hunters, “cementing” our history as the strongest Apex Predators in the galaxy! We defeated, devoured, and assimilated everything… It did not matter if our enemy was a leviathan, an enemy prey fleet, or even an entire planet. If it could be eaten, it was eaten…
Until it wasn’t…
On yet another great crusade in search of delicacy for our insatiable fleets, our sensors captured a strange, but nonetheless familiar signal. The impulse of FTL drive. We made a serious double, and even triple checking of our radars to avoid a major nutritional loss due to false readings. After our intels captured, properly verified, and confirmed the signal, our intercoms just exploded with thousands of jaws:
“Food?”
“Food…”
“ Food! FOOD!!! Food! Food! Delicious prey! Food! We shall… FEAST! Food! Yes!!! Food! FOOD!!! We haven’t ate for [Month]! At last… Some good food… Food! Juicy food… Flesh of prey…
Food! The succulent meat…”
Yes, we felt joy. And anticipation of hunting down these unknown but likely very delicious organisms. It was like opening the present. You don’t know what was inside these flying metal cans, but you sure know that it was likely to be something edible.
Oh, we never were so wrong in our glorious history.
We did not saw them at first, that’s how black and cloaked they were. When we finally identified our “prey” we saw it was a small cluster of black ellipsoids, just hovering there. They did not tried to contact us, like other naive prey organisms did. They were completely silent...
“We will smash you like the eggs you are!” we foolishly thought back then...
They slowly turned frontwards when we approached them. Their range was astonishing, picking our smallest drones instantly before they could even scream, like if they were the candles that these black horrors just blew out.
When we finally reached the required distance and fired our acid sacks and laser guns however, they were still there, not blowing up, retreating, or even moving an [inch]. Then we opened all the airlocks(if we weren’t already outside) and enveloped their ships in our mighty grip, not stopping to pour their shields with our acids and plasma. Usually, after a few unpleasant zaps of enemy shields, they just popped and the ships just were crack open like the [nuts].
But not them...
They did not crumble and exposed their hulls with screaming prey just getting sucked out in the vacuum as usual, no, instead they started to grow bright red. Redder than our flesh and blood…
And burned. Burned stronger and more painful than any flame. Our drones roared in pain but we couldn’t hear any of their songs of torture in this vacuum of silent space. Hundreds of megatons of our flesh clusters was just turned in ashes or were torn off and become drifted dead lumps of burnt meat. Our intercoms filled with screams of fear and agony, our minds losing their mass and density, turning into undeveloped children.
"Father? It hurts…” could be heard from countless drones. And any of them that tried to escape, were sniped with red beams of such accuracy, that our best spitters could only dream of. It didn’t last long when we were the only operating guide ship of entire Armada that was so ingloriously butchered. And then we felt the warmth…
No… NO!
All weapons of this black "eggs" were pointed at us, our last mind. The last memories flashed as we slowly were burned to death. The last though of our last tumor was the realization that there was someone stronger than us. Someone who cannot be eaten. The bigger Predator…

2024.05.14 12:20 ReasonablePea5081 Franchising is booming in India, with established brands and new ventures alike looking to expand their reach.

This growth is driven by a combination of factors, including a rising middle class with disposable income, a growing young population, and an increasing desire for convenience.
Franchises offer a proven business model for entrepreneurs, with the benefit of leveraging an established brand name and marketing strategies. Additionally, franchisors often provide training and support to their franchisees, which can be invaluable for those new to business ownership. As a result, franchising is seen as a relatively low-risk way to enter the business world.
However, it's important to remember that franchising isn't a shortcut to success. Careful research and due diligence are essential before investing in any franchise in India. Franchisees should thoroughly understand the terms of the franchise agreement, the initial investment required, and the ongoing fees associated with running the business. It's also crucial to assess the market potential in your chosen location and ensure there's sufficient demand for the franchise's products or services.

2024.05.14 12:18 ShammiHeroAahda BB Casting 🎣 Thread

Ok as discussed in the live thread..
You can comment your favourite Series/Movie franchise names and as a reply to each comment add any BB participant as a Character of that show.
Eg: If I add a comment Game of Thrones / FRIENDS, You can add your favourite Character of that show and your cast for that character from BB (John snow - Gabri ; Chandler - Arjun .. etc)
Please keep this in mind while commenting
1.Pls try to avoid spamming the comments with same shows. If you find your favorite show then add the cast in that comment's reply and If your desired cast is already added by someone please Upvote it and don't comment again.
2.Add 1 Casting as One Comment don't add lists. If you have two casts in mind , the eg: John snow - Gabri , in one comment and Cersei - Ansiba, in different comment
3.If the some one else has commented Cersei - Ansiba but you think Cersei - Jamsine is more apt then add your iteration as that particular reply's reply.
NB : Thread teach aayal we could consider making these castings into AI Arts works.

After Effects Horizontal to Vertical Text alignment through Expressions and Text Animators
https://i.redd.it/8ygogwwz9d0d1.gif
This project demonstrates a method for transitioning horizontal text to vertical text while maintaining character orientation through expressions and text animators.
It does this by calculating a path based on the desired rotation angle
Rotation is controlled by an angle controller with keyframes.
Note: For best results, use a monospaced font.
