2024.06.09 22:39 Donna-Hiraedu What is a common writing error?

Some common writing errors include:
  1. Subject-verb agreement errors: Incorrectly using a singular or plural verb form to match a singular or plural subject.
  2. Tense consistency errors: Switching between different verb tenses (e.g., past, present, future) within a sentence or paragraph.
  3. Pronoun errors: Incorrectly using pronouns, such as using "he" instead of "him" or "they" instead of "them".
  4. ** Apostrophe errors**: Misusing apostrophes in possessive nouns (e.g., "it's" instead of "its") or plural nouns.
  5. Comma splices: Joining two independent clauses with a comma without using a conjunction.
  6. Run-on sentences: Merging two or more sentences without proper punctuation.
  7. Lack of parallel structure: Using different grammatical structures for parallel ideas within a sentence or list.
  8. Modifiers placement errors: Placing adverbs and adjectives too far away from the words they modify.
  9. Homophone errors: Confusing words with similar pronunciation but different meanings (e.g., "their" vs. "there" vs. "they're").
  10. Punctuation errors: Misusing or omitting punctuation marks, such as commas, semicolons, and colons.
These errors can make your writing less clear, less effective, and less professional. It's essential to proofread and edit your work to avoid these common writing errors.

2024.06.09 22:20 brandonk3690 I need advice because she lost interest in me.

Hi so I need some advice, I met this girl through hinge and we hit it off really well we went on the first date which was a walk and kissed afterwards. She quickly wanted to setup the next date in a few days. On the first date she kept calling me attractive and how I was a “golden egg” because I didn’t use social media much essentially I made a great first impression. The second date came shortly after and she was saying the night before I’m going to go to bed so it comes quicker and how excited she was. We went out had some food and went for drinks. She stayed at mine in the end and it was good but she made it clear she didn’t want to have sex because she didn’t want to seem like the girls that do that one the 2nd date it was a very good date and she was lying next to me telling me how much she likes me and saying I think this could turn into a relationship so it went very well. Here’s where it falls off we have the 3rd date we go out get food and get drinks come back to mine and we have sex she said it was really good and we go at it a couple times. We were talking about secretes and I open up about a porn addiction I used to have (dumb idea) she was interested and took it fine but I was being extremely insecure after this. It spirraled and I took it out on her. She became more distant and seemed to loosed interest. I chased and chased and pretty much drove her away and removed her off instagram. We stopped talking and I met her out one night and she stayed over but I fixed myself and wasn’t insecure I wasn’t chasing I was my confident self. Now i haven’t messaged her in 3 weeks and neither has she what should I do ? Edit: I forgot to mention I asked her a few times why she was being distant and she said she shouldn’t have to tell me why she’s changed and said it feels like a relationship already.

2024.06.09 22:19 OldBayJ [SerSun] Serial Sunday: Beauty!

Welcome to Serial Sunday!

To those brand new to the feature and those returning from last week, welcome! Do you have a self-established universe you’ve been writing or planning to write in? Do you have an idea for a world that’s been itching to get out? This is the perfect place to explore that. Each week, I post a theme to inspire you, along with a related image and song. You have 500 - 1000 words to write your installment. You can jump in at any time; writing for previous weeks’ is not necessary in order to join. After you’ve posted, come back and provide feedback for at least 1 other writer on the thread. Please be sure to read the entire post for a full list of rules.

This Week’s Theme is Beauty!

Important Note: Feedback is a requirement every week that you write, for all authors! Please be sure you are meeting that requirement every week. Image Song
Bonus Word List (each included word is worth 5 pts) - You must list which words you included at the end of your story. - blind - bamboozle - bestow - balance
We all have an aesthetic sense, even if we don't all agree on it. Some combination of shapes, colors, and form that draws the eye and evokes a positive sensation. Attraction, approval, intrigue, delight, joy, there are many things that beauty can evoke even if it is only ever skin deep.
Or can it be deeper? Does beauty exist beyond the realms of visual cues? What does your world consider beautiful? Is your protagonist a beauty? Does the antagonist use their looks for their own gain? Is it a fixed state, or can beauty be lost and become ugly? Can something ugly become beautiful? Can two people who disagree on what 'beauty' is find mutual attraction? Blurb provided by u/ZachTheLitchKing.
These are just a few things to get you started. Remember, the theme should be present within the story in some way, but its interpretation is completely up to you. For the bonus words (not required), you may change the tense, but the base word should remain the same. Please remember to follow all sub and post rules.
Don’t forget to sign up for Saturday Campfire here! We start at 1pm EST and provide live feedback!

2024.06.09 22:16 mikeramp72 Endgame #2

2nd: Ian Rosenberger (Palau - 3rd)

friends forever <3
u/DryBonesKing:
Claims to be a dolphin trainer. Yet, he shows us no dolphin tricks. Even worse, there aren’t even any dolphins showed with him. Literally unwatchable, zero out of ten. I’m sure a New Era Dolphin Trainer would have the decency to have a flashback scene with pictures of a dolphin…
I opt to meme about Ian instead of trying to do a writeup because what is there to fucking say? It’s Ian fucking Rosenberger! I think I know more people who have Ian as their number one favorite Survivor of all than any other Survivor. That’s the pull that this guy has! I currently have placed all my chips on Twila being the one who will end up winning this Rankdown, but I think Ian is just as likely and is just as equally deserving. And just like Twila, he also has the distinct pleasure of being one of the most tragic figures in Survivor history after a very complicated story of having his morals completely and utterly tested in the worst ways possible.
The entire relationship between Ian, Tom, and Katie feels scripted. That’s how good of a story it is, because I almost refuse to believe that somehow reality can actually work the way that it did. Watching this goofy, smiley, joyful guy at the beginning and seeing him completely broken holding onto a buoy in the final immunity challenge – not even out of a desire to win but almost out of instinct and a desire to figure out who he is as a person – is some of the rawest shit I’ve ever seen. And somehow, despite all of the tragedy involved in his tale, seeing him finally make peace with himself at the very end of a brutal, neverending challenge and going out seemingly on his own terms just feels so much more personally satisfying than any other possible ending I could have imagined. Palau is a brutal, emotional watch and Ian is an incredible rollercoaster experience to observe as well, but goddamn, when it’s all said and over, it truly feels worth it by the end of it all.
Overall Rank – 6/821
~
u/Zanthosus:
Ian is my favorite character in the history of the show. I adore everything about his story. I’m naturally drawn to people who let their emotions influence their decisions in the game over strategy and there’s really nobody else to exemplify why I adore that than Ian.
~
u/Tommyroxs45:
Ian has one of the best stories in Survivor history, and I think to most, including me, that’s an object fact. His story is a testament to what Survivor does to you mentally and how important vital relationships are in Survivor, not because of the game, but for you. It’s told absolutely brilliantly and he makes the endgame of Palau probably the best endgame in the history of Survivor. He deserves his spot here, among the greats!
~
u/Regnisyak1:
Ian has one of the strongest, most emotional, incredible, captivating, enticing, exciting, craziest, and engaging stories ever on Survivor. That’s a lot of adjectives, but I think he is such a complex character and helps make Palau, Palau. Watching his breakdown at the end of the season is so rough, but such an important story and it encapsulates the power of friendship, how the island wears you down over time, the conflicting storylines involving leadership, and a subversion of gender roles of those traditionally expected in society. I love Ian, I love his relationships with other characters like Tom, Caryn, and Katie, and his place in Endgame, and eighth time overall, is completely deserved.
Personal Rank: 2/821. 10/10.
~
u/ninjedi1:
Ian is an interesting guy on Palau. He's the one that ends up beginning the formation of the dominant Koror tribe, and is pretty much in the driver's seat with Tom the entire time in premerge. However, his relationships start to fall apart as the game progresses, to the point where he's a huge emotional, mess, and makes the big decision to throw himself on the sword to let his friends make it to the end of the game.
~~~~~
u/SMC0629:
Ian Rosenberger
I think I’m done with Survivor after this writeup. I’ve come to realize that the show just isn’t for me anymore. There’s many different things I’m interested in, and have become more interested in than Survivor. It’s been nine years, nine long, but amazing years of being a loving fan of the show. From elementary school, where I’d come home awaiting the newest episode, making tribes out of people in my classes. To middle school, where I discovered Survivor content on Youtube, interacting with the people in the comment sections (if you know who A.J Deets is you’re a real one), and discovering what the “edit” was. To high school, where I discovered rankdowns. That first rankdown from 2022, and this one, have made me consider who really is my favorite character in the show. For the longest time, my favorite character has been Jonny Fairplay 1.0, and I still hold to that. However, he was sadly cut before endgame, so I had to find a second option. I had to think, who is my favorite? More importantly, what character encapsulates why I keep coming back to this show, and what makes me love it so much? There were many options, a lot of them in this very endgame roster, but one stuck out to me. One character that I’ve adored since my first watch of their season back in 2017, one that stayed in my mind when scrolling through survivor in middle school, and one that has been ranked high for me in these rankdowns. Maybe one day, he’ll even find himself at the coveted top spot, and that character is Ian Rosenberger.
Going back to that original state of mind I had, a casual Survivor fan in 2017, just now experiencing old-school Survivor (with the exception of All-Stars). Why did I like Ian right off the bat? Well, my dad’s name is Ian, I’m sure that had some part in it, along with his funny looking hair. His occupation was being a “dolphin trainer,” which I thought was really cool. On top of that though, he seemed like a chill guy, and back then I always rooted for the more physical competitors. After all, he just won the first “challenge” of the season, by racing back to shore and winning the immunity necklace. This would only continue throughout the first few episodes of the season, as Ian would be a dominant figure in the Koror tribe, being more nice than someone like Tom, but not as big in the picture. He even retrieved the reward Koror had lost at sea after their first immunity challenge.
Skipping ahead to the later half of the premerge, and I suppose the early merge as well, Ian’s charisma really shines. This is something that’s really important, not just for his character, but why I enjoyed him so much too. Back in middle school, I referred to most of my favorite old school characters as just being ones that were likable. Obviously, this doesn’t hold up now, like most of my survivor era takes (along with great ones such as “Ghost Island is my 16th favorite season”), as I had a big preference towards the newer seasons with some exceptions. However, due to the nostalgia I had for Palau, that season was always one of my favorites, and Ian was always one of my favorite contestants. While he may never have been the center of attention until the very end, he was always there in the background, making a smart comment or something. His voting confessionals are a great example, like the one for Gregg: “Gregg, you’re the dark horse, so now it’s time for the dark horse to ride out into the sunset.”
However, that background status plays into two different relationships perfectly, the two most important of the season, mind you: Katie and Tom. Katie represents his social game, the person who Ian has created the biggest bond with throughout the season, as seen through numerous moments. As for Tom, Ian’s other best friend, it plays into the factor of the game. See the thing is, Tom has always had his mind on the game, whether it’s questioning his threat level, using Steph’s target to his advantage, or thinking about his different alliances. Ian on the other hand, has floated in the background, letting Tom take the heat, intentionally or unintentionally. Either way, Tom is seen as the bigger player, and his first two immunity wins are nothing to scoff at either. It’s at the final six where both of these relationships begin to clash, and the downfall of Ian begins. At first, Gregg becomes too comfortable, making his ideal final three plan too clear, alarming Tom “it’s the cake, we didn’t come here for the icing.” With this, Tom brings in Ian to conspire against Gregg, working together with Caryn to blindside him. Once again, Tom is taking the reins, proving to be a smarter player overall than Ian, but something different happens this time. Instead, it’s Ian who takes the heat when he is forced to pull in Katie at the last minute. Katie agrees, breaking her word with Gregg and Jenn, basically sinking any chance she might have had at beating someone. Things go from dicey to outright bad for Ian quickly, as he wins the final five reward challenge, but brings Tom with him after agreeing to bring Katie beforehand. Katie is furious at Ian, and when he gets back from the reward, she lays into him, both of them shedding tears. It’s such an impactful and real moment, but the two’s friendship overcomes it, and they come together to vote out Caryn that night.
By this point, Ian knows he needs to get Tom out. That’s all he needs actually. Him and Katie in the final two is an easy 1 mil for him, he just needs to eliminate his best friend. Unfortunately, Tom pulls out another immunity win. Despite that, Tom values his friendship with Ian, and is fine keeping him around to vote off Jenn. Ian however, is foaming at the mouth to get Tom out, so bad that he actually slips up in front of him, saying that it would have been a tough decision had Tom not won immunity. Immediately, Tom’s alarm bells ring, and he knows Ian is gunning for him. The mood at tribal council is dramatically different than at camp. What could have been a remorseful goodbye to Jenn has turned into a showdown between two friends. Tom scolds Ian for betraying their friendship, and no matter how much Ian denies it, the pieces have already fallen in place. Despite Ian saving himself in fire, he may as well be a ghost to his two best friends. Katie and Tom haven’t said a word to him since tribal, and Ian breaks down in a confessional. He didn’t want to be the bad guy, it shouldn’t have gone this way. This scene really struck a chord for me on my first watch, and has always stuck with me. Despite it all, Ian still has one last chance to score the big prize, the final immunity challenge. Pretty quickly, Katie drops out, leaving it down to the final showdown against Tom. Tom still doesn’t say much to Ian, with Ian trying to stay confident. During the whole challenge though, you can tell Ian’s masking his true feelings, he wants to say so many things to Tom and Katie but can’t. The two stay up on those poles for almost 12 hours, until finally, Ian’s mask comes off. Ian says he’ll step down, and Tom can take Katie to the final two, to show that he still cares about their friendship. And for the first time in this challenge, Tom gives him a genuine response, agreeing to his wishes. Ian immediately dives off, losing his chance at the million, but winning back his two best friends. Tom votes Ian off, not his competitor Ian, not his tribemate Ian, but “my buddy Ian.” That’s all you need to hear to show that everything’s gone back to normal. Ian is the final person voted out of the game, thus ending the story of one of my favorite characters the show has ever seen.
Ian’s in a pretty close race for my favorite character of all time, there’s a lot of contenders. Fairplay, Twila, Fabio, Chris D, Sandra, all very close together alongside Ian. However, if there was one character I could choose to take their story away from the show, it would be Ian’s. I would want to be like Ian, and I think his story is inspirational to people who might not have confidence, might not be sure of themselves or what they want. Ian’s values are what I aspire to have, and I couldn’t be more thankful that I connected so much with his story. If this is the final writeup I have on this show, I’m more than happy with that. Thank you all for supporting me throughout the rankdown, thank you to the rankers for being a great group of people, thank you Survivor, and most importantly, thank you Ian.
2024.06.09 21:57 ScarHydreigon87 How to play Yelan in D&D
Greetings, YelanMains! I come to you today with a different type of Yelan build. Instead of a build for her in-game, I'm gonna be showcasing how to build and play Yelan in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. This is something I've been doing for Genshin characters recently, and I wanna share it with you all.
Let’s start off with our goals for this build. First, we need to be a master at manipulation, intel gathering, and espionage. Secondly, we need to wield a bow, as that’s your weapon of choice. Lastly, we need to utilize magical abilities to support your allies, as while we won’t be able to replicate her abilities exactly, we’ll still keep that support role for her.
(Please note that I stopped playing Genshin when Yelan came out, so I know next to nothing about her lore or character other than she's like a spy for Ningguang or something like that)
For stats, we’ll be using the Standard Point array from the Player’s Handbook. Roll for stats if you want, just keep your Dexterity and Charisma high for multiclassing.
15 Charisma, as you are a master of manipulation and deception.
14 Dexterity, as you are nimble, and it’s the stat for bows.
13 Intelligence, as being a secret agent requires a sharp mind.
12 Wisdom, as you are very insightful and good at reading people
10 Constitution, as while I hate to have it low, you are canonically frail
And lastly, 8 Strength, as again, you are frail.
For Race, Yelan is a human, and Variant Humans get a Feat. The Actor Feat is perfect for going undercover. You get +1 to Charisma, advantage on Deception and Performance checks to pass off as another person, and you can spend a minute listening in on someone to mimic their speech. Bump your Intelligence and Charisma with your 2 Free points, take Perception for your Skill of choice, and the Spy Background for Stealth and Deception as you are an Intelligence Agent.
We’ll kick things off as a Rogue. 1st Level Rogues can pick 4 Skills from the Rogue list. Insight, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, and Investigation would be my picks. You also get Expertise in 2 of those Skills, doubling your proficiency bonus with them. Go for Persuasion and Deception to order your way around everyone. You also learn Thieves Cant, letting you speak in secret code words, and Sneak Attack, giving you an extra d6 to add to a weapon attack once per turn if you either have advantage on the attack roll or have an ally within 5 feet of you.
2nd Level Rogues get Cunning Action, letting you Dash, Disengage, or Hide as a Bonus Action.
3rd Level Rogues get to pick a Roguish Archetype, and Inquisitive is useful for uncovering information. You have an Eye for Detail, letting you use a bonus action to make a Perception or Investigation check to find a hidden creature or object or check for clues. You also have an Ear for Deceit, meaning you cannot roll lower than an 8 on any Insight check to tell if someone is lying. You also get Insightful Fighting, letting you use a bonus action to have a creature you can see make a Deception check contested by your Insight check. If you succeed, then you can use your Sneak Attack on that creature without needing advantage or another ally for up to a minute or until you use it on someone else. Lastly, 3rd Level Rogues get Steady Aim, letting you use a bonus action to gain advantage on your next ranged attack roll as long as you don’t move or haven’t moved that turn, and Your Sneak Attack increases to 2d6.
4th Level Rogues get an Ability Score Improvement or a Feat. We’ll take the Skill Expert Feat for +1 to Charisma, Proficiency in Intimidation, and Expertise in Insight.
Now that we have our sneaky Rogue stuff handled for now, let’s multiclass into Bard, as while Yelan isn’t a singer or performer, Bards, much like Rogues, are very good in social situations. Multiclassing into Bard gets you 1 free Skill. Acrobatics would be my pick. You get Bardic Inspiration, letting you use a bonus action to give an ally a d6 they can use to add to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw within the next 10 minutes, an amount of times per long rest equal to your Charisma modifier, similar to an Exquisite Roll. You can also cast spells as your Vision does grant you magical abilities. For your Cantrips, take Vicious Mockery and Message. For your spells, take Silvery Barbs, Charm Person, Dissonant Whispers, and Command.
2nd Level Bards get Jack of All Trades, letting you add half your proficiency bonus to any ability check you aren’t proficient with, which include initiative rolls. You also get Song of Rest, letting your allies add an extra d6 whenever they spend hit dice to restore HP during a short rest to keep them up in the field. You also get the option of Magical Inspiration, letting an ally who has a Bardic Inspiration die use it to add to the damage or healing of a spell.
3rd Level Bards can pick a Bard College, and College of Whispers is another fine choice for a deceptive and manipulative agent. You get Psychic Blades, letting you spend a Bardic Inspiration to deal an extra 2d6 Psychic damage with a weapon attack once per turn. You also get Words of Terror, letting you spend a minute talking to someone alone and have them make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened by you or another creature you choose for up to an hour or until the target is attacked. If they succeed, they have no indication you tried to frighten them. You can now also learn 2nd Level Spells. Take the spells Hold Person and Zone of Truth to catch them in the net.
Last, but not least, 3rd Level Bards get Expertise in 2 more Skills. Go for Perception and Investigation.
4th Level Bards get an Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Charisma for the most Bardic Inspiration and better spells and skills. Take the spell Invisibility.
5th Level Bards get Font of Inspiration, meaning your Bardic Inspiration now recharges on a short rest as well, and it also upgrades from a d6 to a d8. You can also learn 3rd Level Spells. Take the Spell Nondetection. Your damage from Psychic Blades also increases to 3d6.
6th Level Whispers Bards get Mantle of Whispers, letting you use your reaction to capture the shadow of a humanoid that dies within 30 feet of you. Until you finish a long rest, you can use your action to assume the form of the Shadow, taking on the humanoid’s appearance for 1 hour or until you end it as a bonus action. While you're disguised, you gain access to all information that the humanoid would freely share with a casual acquaintance, Such information as general details on its background and personal life, and you gain a +5 bonus to Deception checks when someone tries to see through your disguise. Once you capture a shadow, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest. For your spell, take Hypnotic Pattern.
Lastly, 6th Level Bards get Countercharm, letting you use your action to give you and your allies advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened, but this feature is honestly pretty bad.
Back to Rogue for the rest of the build. 5th Level Rogues get Uncanny Dodge, letting you use your reaction to halve the damage you take from an attack against you. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 3d6.
6th Level Rogues get Expertise in 2 more skills. Go for Stealth and Intimidation.
7th Level Rogues get Evasion, meaning when you make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid damage, you take no damage on a success, and only half on a failure. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 4d6.
8th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Dexterity for better AC, damage, and initiative.
9th Level Inquisitive Rogues get Steady Eye, giving you advantage on Perception and Investigation checks if you use no more than half your movement that turn. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 5d6.
10th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Keep bumping your Dexterity.
11th Level Rogues get Reliable Talent, meaning you cannot roll lower than a 10 on any skill you have Proficiency or Expertise with. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 6d6.
12th Level Rogues get our last Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Dexterity for the best damage, AC and Initiative.
We’ll finish off the build with 2 Levels in Fighter. 1st Level Fighters can pick a Fighting Style, and Archery will add +2 to the attack rolls you make with Ranged weapons. You also get Second Wind, letting you heal 1d10+your Fighter level as a bonus action once per short or long rest to stay up in the fight.
Our Capstone is the 2nd Level of Fighter for Action Surge, letting you take an additional action once per rest.
Now that we’ve hit Level 20, let’s go over the strengths of this build. First, you are insanely good in social situations. You have Expertise in 6 Skills, and paired with Reliable Talent, your minimum for any Charisma check is a 28, along with Mantle of Whispers, making you a master at gathering intel and espionage. You also have solid damage thanks to Action Surge, Sneak Attack and Psychic Blades, letting you deal up to 11d6+10 damage in a single round, with Steady Aim to gain advantage. Lastly, you’re a really good support with Bardic Inspiration and useful crowd control spells.
For weaknesses, you are VERY squishy, sitting at 105 average HP. While you do have Evasion, Uncanny Dodge, range, and a decent 17 AC with Studded Leather, if you’re caught in the wrong situation, then you’re gonna go down easily. If you want more HP then can swap out either your INT or WIS scores for CON since you're gonna have Expertise. You’re also vulnerable to Strength saving throws, meaning you can easily be tossed around. Lastly, you have multiple features that require your bonus action, meaning you’ll have to pick and choose what to use each turn.
2024.06.09 21:30 Personal_Cost4756 I'm building an Ai app to help teachers and students automate some tasks
Hello everyone
My name’s Souhail, I’m a software engineer student on the final year of graduation and I choose as the final project the idea of “the use of Ai on education”.
The idea of the app that I’m trying to build is to simplify and automate some tasks that a teacher or a student do.
Some of the main features that I came up with are:
🖼️Convert image to Document with the same formatting
🤖Automatically do a search for a topic on educational search engines (example of Google Scholar) and output a full summary that can be editable or exported into PDF, DOC, PowerPoint
🙋‍♀️Upload PowerPoint slides or lesson notes and output a worksheet (multiple choice, short answer, etc...)
🔴Enter a YouTube video or YouTube playlist and output a full educational summary that can be edited or exported to PDF, DOC, PowerPoint
🔗Enter a list of Web URLs of articles and output a full editable summary that can be exported to PDF, DOC or PowerPoint
📃Upload multiple documents and output a summary that you can either edit or export into PDF, DOC or PowerPoint
let me know what do you think, does those features really solve a problem for you? any other features that you always want to have but never found it ? I would love to hear from you.
Thanks
2024.06.09 21:29 Excel_Jesus Redemption for our customization horror story instance?
Here's the situation: my org went live with netsuite right before the pandemic. CFO at the time resigned two months prior to going live. An ERP Administrator started shortly after and did their best to hold things together. There was basically no competent finance/accounting team for two years after. Pretty much everyone touches netsuite at my org, whether for accounting, inventory operations, or data analytics.
During the course of 2020 to 2022, the ERP Administrator has basically customized our instance into a hole. Any form of request from any department resulted in a random custom field, custom script, or random workaround. Very little "saying no". It's truly a spiderweb. They had the best of intentions (and I love working with this individual), but there's basically been NO overall strategy or direction for ERP development (not to the fault of the admin). I'll also emphasize there's been no accounting/finance oversight of any of these customizations. Wrap this up with an overall bad implementation and it's been a nightmare.
The end result has been the following - Completely custom built online store that has many glitches. Often causes distribution of product for free when not intended (one time we lost $10k in a single distribution). I've written off $300k from invoices not supposed to billed from 2020-2022. It's been hard to quantify the overall impact as the data is so bad. - The ERP admin and CFO have basically built the netsuite social impact module from the ground up via customizations (long story). Think rebuilding the wheel, but our wheel is made of playdough and bubblegum. This customization is heavily ingrained in 90% of our netsuite instance (multiple custom segments) and serves a major need of the organization. - Vast majority of inventory items set up with improper GL codes. Due to transaction history, it's not possible to change them without making new item codes (1000s of items). - Vast majority of items set up using standard costing for no logical reason. If you know, you know. - MANY of the customizations didn't consider any of the accounting GL impacts. This causes prior periods to be constantly adjusted when someone random does XYZ and it's been incredibly hard to track all this down. Every month there's some whacco material adjustment posted for a myriad of reasons (my favorite so far has been an item receipt necromancy edit causing irreversible $800k debit adjust to sales revenue 5 months ago). - I can't formally close accounting periods for months on end as many MANY non-accounting customizations were foundationally built on periods being open all year. - Some record types have been bastardized beyond usability. For example, we'll probably never be able to use purchase orders normally due to the customized workflows/solutions they were set up as. - Integrating any 3rd party system has been incredibly difficult due to the customizations and requires ridiculous amounts of workarounds. It took me months to properly integrate our AP system to a usable standpoint - a random undocumented UI script would cause 20-30% of bills to not sync. We still can't use the purchase order feature in the AP system (see above). - Incredibly hard to get good data out of netsuite. - Incredibly poor financial controls. Too many examples to share.
I've been able to sort of fix some of it, but there's truly too much for one person to do. Much stuff is so ingrained into the instance it's going to cost huge $$$ to fix. I've tried to raise these issues to management with limited success, but I think everyone here can understand how effective that has been.
I'm starting to think I should bounce. Thoughts?
2024.06.09 20:50 kitkatbatman Explain to me like I’m 9 years old: what laptop should I replace my HP omen with?
I’ve had my HP Omen since 2016. It’s fairly functional, aside from the fact that it gets ridiculously hot when I make it run a game or even a video call. I can hear the fan running, it’s insanely loud. I opened it up to make sure there wasn’t any stuff clogging it up, nothing. I guess I could go get it checked out, but I figured I might as well get a new one for the money I’ll probably get charged.
I think BG3 kicked my poor omen’s ass. I I would like something that I could run my games on higher graphics and all that jazz. However, I really don’t understand what makes a laptop GOOD. My brain also hates computer jargon. So please tell me what laptops are good and why, but pretend I’m like a 4th grader or something. Or a caveman.
In terms of what I intended to play, I’ve got more BG3, Witcher 3, assassins creed odyssey, rdr2, re2 and 6, and subnautica lined up. Also do demonolgist, phasmophobia, golf with friends, lethal company, continent warning, dead by daylight, pummel party with friends sometimes. So a fair mix I guess.
Give me your wisdom, Reddit gamers!
Edit: adding that I’m in the US, budget prolly around 2k. I have to keep my omen plugged in constantly so I’m not terribly picky about battery life, nor do I have any screen size preferences.
2024.06.09 20:39 vikdeadgens Crash to desktop issue when crafting, potentially linked to vanilla leveled lists, need help interpreting my crash log.
Hi all, I keep get an instant CTD when I move my cursor over the 3rd item on the list in this picture, under "NFF Ignore Token:" https://imgur.com/a/skyrim-ctd-issue-0ROHeVG
I've uninstalled some equipment mods one by one, specifically Immersive Armors, Sentinel and Redgarb and any related patches, and spawned in Riverwood to see if that would help, but the blank item in my picture is still appearing on my crafting list and causing the game to CTD.
Skyrim Crash Decoder output the following:
== Skyrim Crash Decoder v1.0 Report ==
It looks like a leveled item is causing an issue. Check below in the report if the tool was able to find the name and/or the FormID of the problematic item or its origin mod.
Unable to identify a culprit plugin from this crash log.
The following record might have been involved in the crash: formid: 0x00000f0f.
If you are an advanced Skyrim modder, you can use a tool like SSEEdit to see more information about what record the FormID contains and which mods are accessing it.
I looked up 0x00000fof in xEdit and found SublistWeaponDaggerDaedric05, which appears to have leveled list entries for the Daedric Dagger, but I'm not sure where to go from here. How do I check which mods are accessing this FormID?
2024.06.09 20:15 daniel_dingo Writing a good paper involves several key steps and considerations. Here's a general outline to guide you through the process
  1. Understand the Assignment: Make sure you fully understand the requirements and expectations of your paper. Pay attention to the topic, length, formatting, and any specific instructions provided by your instructor.
  2. Choose a Topic: Select a topic that interests you and aligns with the assignment requirements. If the topic is already assigned, think about how you can narrow it down to a specific aspect or angle that you find compelling.
  3. Research: Gather relevant information and sources to support your arguments or claims. Utilize academic databases, scholarly articles, books, and credible websites to gather information. Take detailed notes and keep track of your sources for proper citation.
  4. Create an Outline: Organize your thoughts and ideas by creating an outline. This will help you structure your paper and ensure that your arguments flow logically from one point to the next. Include an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion in your outline.
  5. Write the Introduction: Start your paper with an engaging introduction that grabs the reader's attention and provides background information on the topic. Clearly state your thesis or main argument at the end of the introduction.
  6. Develop the Body Paragraphs: Each body paragraph should focus on a single point or aspect of your topic. Provide evidence, examples, and analysis to support your arguments. Make sure to use clear and concise language, and transition smoothly between paragraphs.
  7. Craft a Strong Conclusion: Summarize the main points of your paper and restate your thesis in the conclusion. Avoid introducing new information here. Instead, reflect on the significance of your findings and suggest possible avenues for future research or discussion.
  8. Revise and Edit: Once you've completed the first draft, take time to revise and edit your paper. Check for clarity, coherence, and consistency in your arguments. Make sure your writing is free of grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. Consider seeking feedback from peers, tutors, or instructors.
  9. Format and Cite Sources: Format your paper according to the specified style guide (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago). Ensure proper citation of all sources used in your paper to avoid plagiarism. Double-check your citations and bibliography for accuracy.
  10. Proofread: Before submitting your final paper, carefully proofread it one last time to catch any lingering errors or typos. Reading your paper aloud can help you identify awkward phrasing or grammatical mistakes.
By following these steps and dedicating time and effort to each stage of the writing process, you can produce a well-written and coherent paper that meets the expectations of your assignment. Remember to start early, stay organized, and seek assistance if needed.
2024.06.09 19:17 ScarHydreigon87 How to play Lisa in D&D
Today is Lisa's birthday, and to celebrate, I’m writing a guide on how to play as the humble Librarian of the Knights of Favonius in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition.
Let’s start off with our goals for this build. First and Foremost, we need Lightning and lots of it. Next, we need to be charming and alluring to get people to do your bidding. Lastly, we need to be able to provide off-field utility.
For stats, we’ll be using the Standard Point Array from the Player’s Handbook. Roll for stats if you want, just keep your Intelligence high.
15 Intelligence, as you are an excellent scholar and librarian, being Sumeru Akademiya’s most esteemed graduate.
14 Constitution, as you are a bit frail, but still need to take hits.
13 Dexterity, as you need some protection.
12 Charisma, as you are alluring and charming
10 Wisdom, as while you insightful and wise, you do have a sinister and somewhat immoral side
And 8 Strength, as while you do have a knack for climbing, we just don’t need it for this build.
For race, Lisa is a human, and Variant Humans get a Feat. The Elemental Adept Feat will help with your magic. You get to pick an elemental damage type (go for Lightning) and spells you cast of that damage type ignore damage resistances, and you treat any 1s you roll on damage dice for Lightning spells as 2s. Bump your Intelligence and Dexterity with your 2 Free points, take Persuasion for your Skill of Choice, and take the Sage Background for Arcana and History.
We’ll kick things off as a Wizard. 1st Level Wizards can pick 2 skills from the Wizard list. Insight and Religion would be my picks. As a Wizard, you get a Spellbook where you learn your spells from, and you can copy spells you find into your spellbook. You start off with 3 Cantrips and 6 1st-Level Wizard spells of your choice, and you add 2 extra spells to your Spellbook each time you level up as a Wizard, but you can only prepare an amount of spells from your Spellbook equal to your Wizard Level plus your Intelligence modifier. So for the sake of brevity, I’m just gonna list out the spells you can prepare, and you can freely pick whatever other spells you wish to add to your spellbook. For your Cantrips, take Shocking Grasp, Blade Ward, and Prestidigitation. For your spells, Take Shield, Mage Armor, Chromatic Orb, and Witch Bolt. Last but not least, Wizards get Arcane Recovery, letting you recover spell slots of 6th level or below equal to half your Wizard level on a short rest.
2nd Level Wizards can pick an Arcane Tradition, and the School of Evocation is perfect for dealing damage. You’re an Evocation Savant, meaning you can copy Evocation spells into your spellbook in half the time and at half the cost. You can also Sculpt Spells, meaning when you cast an Evocation spell that has an AOE, you can select an amount of creatures within the spell’s range equal to 1 plus the spell’s level to have them automatically succeed on their saving throws and take no damage from the spell. For your spell at this level, take the spell Charm Person.
3rd Level Wizards can learn 2nd Level Spells. Take the spell Hold Person.
4th Level Wizards get an Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Intelligence for better spells. You can now prepare 2 extra spells at this level. Take the Spells Witch Bolt and Silvery Barbs.
5th Level Wizards can learn 3rd Level spells, take the Spell Lightning Bolt.
6th Level Evocation Wizards get Potent Cantrips, meaning enemies that succeed on saving throws against your damaging cantrips still take half damage. For your spell at this level, take the spell Thunder Step.
7th Wizards can learn 4th Level Spells. Take the Spell Storm Sphere.
8th Level Wizards get another Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Intelligence for the best spells. For your 2 extra spells you can prepare, take the spells Misty Step and Thunderwave.
9th Level Wizards can learn 5th Level Spells. Take the Spell Hold Monster.
10th Level Evocation Wizards get Empowered Evocation, letting you add your Intelligence Modifier to one of the damage rolls for your Evocation spells. For your spell at this level, take the spell Dominate Person.
11th Level Wizards can learn 6th Level Spells. Take the spell Chain Lightning.
12th Level Wizards get another Ability Score Improvement or a Feat. We’ll take the Metamagic Adept Feat, letting you pick 2 Metamagic options from the Sorcerer class, and giving you 2 Sorcery points to spend them on which recharge on a long rest. Transmuted Spell lets you spend a sorcery point when you cast a spell that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder damage to turn it into another one of those damage types. Subtle Spell lets you spend a Sorcery Point to cast a spell without Verbal or Somatic Components.
For your Spell at this level, take the spell Disintegrate.
13th Level Wizards can Learn 7th Level Spells. Take the Spell Prismatic Spray.
14th Level Evocation Wizards get Overchannel, letting you deal max damage when you cast a damaging spell of 5th level or lower. The first time you use this feature, you suffer no adverse effect, but each time you use this feature again before finishing a long rest, you take 2d12 Necrotic damage per level of the spell, increasing by 1d12 per level each time you use it, and this damage cannot be reduced in any way.
For your spell at this Level, take Power Word Pain.
15th Level Wizards can learn 8th Level Spells. Take the Spell Control Weather
16th Level Wizards get another Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Dexterity for better AC.
For your spell at this level, take Delayed Blast Fireball.
17th Level Wizards can learn the highly coveted 9th Level Spells. Take the spell Meteor Swarm.
18th Level Wizards get Spell Mastery, letting you take a 1st Level and 2nd Level Wizard spell and be able to cast them for free. I’d suggest Shield and Misty Step. For your spell at this level, take the spell Wish.
19th Level Wizards get our last Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Constitution for more HP and better concentration. Take the spell Delayed Blast Fireball
Our capstone is the 20th Level of Wizard for Signature Spells, letting you pick two 3rd-Level Wizard spells and cast them once each for free per short or long rest. I’d suggest Lightning Bolt and Thunder Step. For your last prepared spell at this level, take the Spell Shatter.
Now that we’ve hit Level 20, let’s go over the strengths of this build. First, you are an excellent damage dealer with a plethora of Lightning spells at your disposal with Elemental Adept allowing for more consistent damage, and Sculpt Spells letting you use your AOE options safely. You also have the benefit of your spells being long range, letting you fight from a safe distance, plus spells like Misty Step and Thunder Step to create distance. Lastly, you have spells like Charm Person letting you have others do your bidding.
For weaknesses, you are a bit squishy, sitting at around 142 average HP. While you do have a free +5 to AC thanks to Shield, and you have 16 AC with Mage Armor, you can still be whittled down quickly if you're not careful. You also have to be wary of Overchannel, since you can easily lose a lot of HP if you keep going for max damage. You’re also vulnerable to Strength and Charisma saves, meaning you can be easily thrown around and banished. Lastly, a lot of your spells have Dexterity Saving Throws, meaning enemies with Evasion can easily dodge out of the way.
2024.06.09 19:10 Draddon I think the game would be significantly improved if Bravery Points was a better resource
In its current state, BP does the following, according to Dustloop's Mechanics page:
*At 3 points: No change
*At 2 points: No change
*At 1 point: 20% damage taken amplification
*At 0 points: 50% damage taken amplification
Presently, the main issue with the game is the high damage and conversions. And note, Rising buffed every single characters' max health from Vanilla! So every character got tankier, yet still people say matches are more volatile. Why is that?
Raging Strike means that any touch can lead to a full combo for 25 meter, which is somewhat negligible since meter gain has been buffed from Vanilla to Rising. RS does 1500 damage unscaled and its follow up, RC, does 1000 damage unscaled. Most players use it after a single hit, so according to how combo scaling works in this game, the normal will do 100%, RS deals 100%, RC will do 70%. This means, with at least 1 BP and 25 meter, any hit can add an additional 2200 damage. That is 13-14% of your health gone, assuming you have the average 16000 health most characters have, and your opponent gets a full combo after.
Brave Counter heavily disincentivizes resets and pressure, since your opponent can choose to be plus on a successful block at any given time. It has to be explicitly baited by delay button or throw so your opponent gets RS instead. However, because the fuzzy mash>M+H OS exists, it can result in you eating 2600+ damage for trying to bait while still getting BC'ed if you continued pressure. As a consequence, the attacker is forced to go for high damage combos over oki, since going for oki is just giving your opponent a free opportunity take their turn.
Your 3rd BP is a free resource. All the above issues are amplified at 3 BP because it costs nothing to do, and as the round gets closer to 1 interaction = death it becomes worse since taking 20-50% more damage means nothing if you die from one combo anyways.
The main issue, from my point of view, is that BP has really low value when kept compared to spending it. Spending on a single RS/BC doesn't matter at the start of the game when it's basically free, and it doesn't matter towards the end because you will die off of 1 interaction anyways, partially because RS will lead to full combo conversions from anything. Why is it like this? They want you to use their new mechanic. That's it. If it wasn't strong no one would use it.
I think it's also important to point out that most of the BP system mechanics are the only things keeping most low tiers relevant; Vaseraga needs RS to convert from his long range pokes like f.L meaningfully, Ladvia needs BC so she doesn't instantly lose when it's her opponent's turn, and A.Bel needs both so he has a combo tool that doesn't drain his health and so that he can actually survive some pressure. Nerfing RS and BC will affect the low tiers much more than the top tiers, since the top tiers already have good gameplans that BP's universal mechanics enhance, while the low tiers have gameplans that need BP just to get the same reward or defensive security as a mid tier. So nerfing said mechanics would, imo, make the game worse balance-wise.
So in order to make BP matter without screwing over the game balance, it needs to provide a real tangible benefit so that it has actual trade off for spending it. This should take the form of a defensive buff. This could just be a universal damage reduction, but imo it should be a character specific Guts system similar to Guilty Gear, only the damage reduction scales with BP available instead of inversley with health. This is mostly because GBVS does not have a combo system that lets any character do high hit count combos that try to bypass Guts and so that the system is considered at all points in the match, not just at the end.
So instead of how it currently works, BP would work like so: *3 BP: Guts is 100% effective
*2 BP: Guts is 66% effective
*1 BP: Guts is 33% effective
*0 BP: Guts is 0% effective
The BP buff would accomplish the following: *Increasing survivability without affecting character damage.
*Since the damage reduction is character specific, it allows you to fine tune how many mistakes each character can make.
*Since BP rewards you for maintaining it rather than punishing you for using it, the benefits of RS/BC must be weighed against a Guts value that has serious benefits at all points of the match rather than a damage amplification that ceases to matter after 25% health where one hit kills anyways.
*Getting hit by RS on block becomes more interesting; rather than immediately BC'ing to avoid the follow-up you might take it knowing that your rememaining BP means you won't die from the next mixup. Or you might BC anyways to maintain an advantage, albeit significantly more precarious now that you are down a significant portion of your Guts value.
Some worries for this kind of implementation: *Since BP is more valuable, the low tiers that need to use BP to supplement their gameplan would be hit hardest. Might be remedied by making 0 BP a 10-20% effective Guts instead and giving those characters a high damage reduction value on it.
*Might discourage BP usage too much. imo RS and BC are so strong I'm not worried it'll happen but it is something to consider.
*SBA/SSBA might become too valuable and make U Skills unusable, since SBA strips and restores BP and SSBA strips 2 BP.
Anyways that's my idea. Idc if Arcsys/Cygames sees this, just wanted to get it out of my head.
tl;dr BP should be tied to a guts system that way maintaining your BP is something to actually consider and makes it so you live 2 touches.
2024.06.09 19:04 Jorenpeck Rage Rolls
Ran my 3rd session of my werewolf 20th edition game and realized later that a situation had arisen were a player had botched a roll while they were trying to get passed some bouncers to some back rooms at a club. Nothing happened at the time but as I thought back it seemed like a situation were I could of have them roll their Rage, but the more i thought about it what would be the result of the roll. If they get successes do that hulk out and murder everyone in the room?
I guess the problem is that I don't really know when I should ask for those rolls and what the results should be. Can I get people to help me wrap my head around Rage I feel like I'm leaving out a crucial part of the game?
Edit: Added game edition.
