Finding Shills - Similar Characteristics and Observations.
I am happy to share some tips and tricks for finding the dominant traits of some shills. This post contains common characteristics that they share.
About 4 months ago, I decided to start an independent research book on all actions revolving around AMC/APE. Basically, it's a DD educational tool that will greatly help out those who own AMC/APE like myself. This story simply has to be told. It is an knowledge and awareness piece that will include everything I have observed over the past 2+ years involving the illegal aspects of markets and how they affected AMC and its stock price. It will be free PDF to those in this community. This book will have an independent section on the bots and shills put into these subreddits and other social media. I am pre-emptively giving some of those observations on here because it adds value right now and because shills are out in full force.
I went through about 200 highly comented posts on here dealing with DD and business changes and found an astonishing amount of similarities in what I believe are shill accounts.
Posts went through - 200sh Commentors profiles investigated - 1,600+ Total Time frame investigating - 4 months @ a couple hours a day. Profile time ranges.
Before I begin. These are CORRELATIONS for shills. Having one of these does not equal shill. But they are highly correlated among shills and the more they have, the exponential chance of being a shill.
Let's get to it!
So, you think you are talking to a shill?
1) How much Karma do they have? The low or no karma profiles are becoming abundant because people were finding the high karma shills. There's also more of them, and everyone starts out low/no karma. Karma is built up over time due to good quality. So it is a measurable tool in this observation.
2) What Karma type do they have? Is it post karma or comment? Shills tend to have large amounts of COMMENT karma because that's their job! To spread FUD by comments. Shills tend to have low POST karma, and it is usually a generic, recycled meme that gets some updoots or it is a 1 to 3 word title with a write up containing all fat and no meat. Just a weightless balloon for a post history and fake credit.
3) What is the nature of their comment history? They tend to have 0 updoots for a massive portion of their comments, many have large negative downvotes, and only a couple are positive in updoots. Shills tend to attract dominantly to posts that are tangible - require decisions or lead to action so they can manipulate those decisions or actions. They almost never comment on intrinsic comments because there's no value to them. They can't change the way people feel, but they can change how they make decisions because most people do not know what to do, or what the best decision is. But people are dead set on how they feel. Their comments/FUD doesn't show up in feel-good posts or funny memes, memorabilia pictures, movie pictures, etc. because it's a lost fight and they can't gain value from people there. The shills are abundant in threads requiring decisions that affect those who are paying them.
4) What terminology do they use? The shills try to segment a group. They often use offensive words to try and oust those who are a part of that group. For example sake, whether it is true or not, let's say you are self-contious due to being overweight. Lets say you are the biggest person in a friend group. Now let's say one of the group memebers constantly uses words that bash big people... and no one corrects them? how would it make you feel? Like the group doesn't want you! It would make you feel like you should leave that group because you have been segmented out emotionally.
That's what they do with terminology that is offensive to disabled people, LGBTQ+, People of Color, Women, etc. They want the divided house to collapse. If you see this, defend those communities and tell the poster to smarten up. All People Equal - APEs. Everyone has every right to own and benefit from AMC as anyone else. The shill playbook involves terminology that segments groups so they can create a hierarchy to tear down internally.
5) What are their AMC Post/Comment time frames? Do they only appear in times where there's business decisions? Do they only appear in times of major stock movements and market uncertanty? Now we all know that people cannot sit on here all the time, but the amount of aggresive profiles I believe to be shills beyond reasonable belief had overwhelming amounts of their history activity in Feb 2021, June 2021, the APE dividend, the recent Christmas Run-up and the reverse split and conversion. Not a coincidence that they only appear at those times to be negative. They are shills.
6) deleted because shill is in middle of my trap about this.
7) Do they participate in group trend-marketing? The shills tend to attempt a trend of people 'needing to sell'. A chunk of the profiles of Shills I found had posts saying they love the community and have to sell for -sick child/partner -life event expense -Divorse. A real APE wouldn't market this. Especially if they have a history of zero posts, they wouldn't show up for a post to say they are selling. The shills realize people on here are from all walks of life, and they may have issues that require them to sell. They also know a massive chunk of AMC owners are younger generations that are more likely to succumb to trends online. So their playbook is to announce them selling in hopes of real APEs following suit.
Side note: to the younger generations, you are awesome! I have never seen such devotion to success in my life. Thank you.
8) What do they have for culture development? Now, a lot of shill accounts have cheap memes recycled for some karma, but they dont have anything original or cultural. They don't have a home-taken picture of their AMC coffee mug, or a picture of their food/drinks at the movies, or a ticket stub, or a neck-down picture of their AMC jacket. Their objective is the opposite of culture development, so they won't use those for karma growth because it is counter productive to them. They stick to somewhat neutral pictures and memes.
9) Do they often comment about AA? When normal accounts disagree with a decision by AA, they do not even mention him. They focus on the decision. Shills tend to focus on AA directly. This is becuase he is laying foundation to completely crush the shorts positions. Recently, there was the GNS CEO and others who acknowledged Naked short selling. They showed a list, and AA has been following that list before it was made. A reverse split and conversion are both on that list for combating short sellers. Those are what AA is getting flack for from shills at the moment. They want to vilify him so people go against his company desires. Remember, AA saved AMC before we got there. He made it through all of 2020 without us. He has AMCs best interests at heart, and ours. It's OK if you don't like him, but the real people who don't like him attack some of (but not all) of his decisions... not him. Shills jump on 100% and go after AA directly. An investment for seeds of doubt against future business decisions.
AA accepted crypto for payment, made a dividend, added us on Twitter just to communicate, added an NFT for us, added memorabilia/movie items because we asked, made an investor connect, counter-attacks FUD for all to see, goes to movies to interact with us, etc etc etc... Now, he can't say he thinks they're fake shares, but it is unfortunate his pants fell down on the Webcam with Trey back in the day. Actions are proving he has our best interest. You can disagree with him on here for sure if you believe that, but there is a clear nature difference in how Apes disagree with his decisions and how shills attack him and everything he has ever done. This was a hard find, but I found it by the whole "It's not what they say, but how they say it". Shills will hate on AA in a way that appears abnormal.
If they are meeting resistance against AAs decisions, they immediately go after other board members. If you can't take out the general, go after the officers. The shills love to highlight that board members sold and "know more". Yea... lol they can't sell in a squeeze and know that's going to happen! Lol right now is the next best time! They CAN however, buy after a squeeze back in... so they get liquidity now to buy after the rocket returns and drops before stabilizing.
10) How is their Buzzword rate? Does it feel like their posts are nothing but buzzwords and recycled statements? They probably are.
11) Did they plant seeds for other stocks before they got dumped? Jim Cramers little minions! These shills have a history of suggestions like Clove, Roblox, etc that got pumped and dumped. A classic distraction, but it did work on a lot of people. A decent amount of older shill accounts had heavily pushed these and then stopped talking about it. If you jumped on a trend and wanted people to make money on it, you would want to prove you were right and post how you bought more AMC because of it. These posters did not do that. They pushed the stock, it got dumped, they shut up. The ones I am talking about did it for multiple pump and dumps.
12) Was there a clear motivation posting/commenting transition for them? I found that many of the shills were highly active in pushing crypto before it collapsed. These had a day and night change into AMC where they immediately became highly active pushing FUD.
13) How many posts of there's are [removed] or [deleted] ? This is the easiest identifying feature of a shill. They leave the title and the post, but the post is deleted or gone. Some of my findings had 9/9 posts removed or deleted.
14) How do they argue with others? I found that a massive amount of them want proof of everything... because it takes time away from you to find what you already know and if left unanswered, it makes you appear incompetant or lying. Let's say you read an article that said Avatar 2 could be the 3rd highest grossing film of all time, and say that in a comment 2 days later. They jump on that and ask for proof! You look and look but there's so much online you can't find it. Other readers see you don't answer and it discredits you. This is their playbook. It makes you feel like not sharing future information because you were made to appear incorrect or lying. They are going off the idea that 'I don't have to prove me right, I just have to prove you wrong'.
15) How diverse is their activity? I find it funny that someone belongs to all these subreddits, but they only comment on AMC and its only negative or FUD. Almost of the shill accounts appear to be 'Business Only'. They belong to other subreddits but don't comment or post to them. Not even once.
16) Do they have obvious and apparent karma farming before a history of FUD? They just needed enough karma and time to get into our subreddit to attack us. They go hard on the karma farming subreddit. Another large variety of them had nothing but dog/cat pictures on animal subreddits and participated hard on Askreddit. Note that the second they got to AMC, these other subreddits were abandoned. Someone who lives and breathes animals doesn't ditch that love the second they hit a karma requirement, but they did. It wasn't loving pets, it was getting to a quota... ulterior motives.
17) How would/do they respond to this :
"What do you think we should do and why?"
Imagine you know nothing about stocks and markets, but you are getting paid now to bash AMC/APE/AA. You can pull out insults and come up with really creative ways to make people question everything. However, what do you do when you get asked about possible outcomes and their benefits...? You freeze or redirect. I saw so many shill comments criticizing business decisions, that when asked "Ok, what should we do then and why?" They said they didnt know and tried redirecting. The real accounts with real Apes explained their opinion and what they think. Shills freeze and flee or put up a wall... they are a low knowledge slave-driven peanut gallery and those comments are outside their authoritative range and abilities.
18) How do their posts/comments/nature make you feel? Its amazing how well the brain is developed at finding out who is part of our tribe, and who isn't! It's a primitive survival component, the 'Gut Feeling' about something is the result of a long path of evolution that shills can't get away from. Poor intentions while trying to maintain status is hard because it is a brick resting on the pointy side of a toothpick. One miniscule wrong move and everything falls. Without realizing it, you get red flags from some people. Trust these feelings. They are spider senses telling you something is up. You could find contrary evidence, or you could be proven right and lead up to a shill.
19) Is there account needlessly NSFW? This was highly correlated to my shill findings. The mere act of having to change settings stops some people from looking at a profile. They utilize this fact. About 65% of accounts I found to be shills had NSFW settings, despite having nothing in sight that was NSFW. It's a little wall that stops some from investigating them.
20) Do they have something odd that stands out? I found a shill who was posting characters for am AMC movie for post-squeeze. Cool idea. I'd like to think it should be called 'The Bad Short'. Anyway, they had only posted once or twice and now they were posting in massive amounts? So they posted in excess amounts pictures of the possible actors/actresses for everyone involved in this AMC gong show. They were clearly flooding the thread because something important was going on and they didn't want posts showing up. Well... that night there was a lot of great DD posts about order execution, the gamestop trial, brokers that went PFOF, verifying you have a cash account and not margin, turning off share-lending, etc. They just wanted to flood the thread so that you stopped scrolling.
21) Are they aggresively hyping up dates for events they are sure of? In nearly all occurances I found this, there was dissapointment. They want to build people up and watch them fall so they lose hope and sell or lose interest. Keep mind that there's a big difference between being vocal and excited for something you think could happen (normal Apes sharing thoughts on important dates) and being certain of an occasion sending stock prices to the moon!!!!!!! (Shills). These are rampant in the T-dates and triple witching occurances. No one knows when it'll squeeze. Those who are 'certain', pushing things hard are either obviously inexperienced in this stocks nature, or they are Shills.
That's what I got for now. It's written a little rusty but remember I wanted it out there ASAP. Apologies for spelling errors or awkward language.
To add to this write up, I am currently doing an experiment on four shills right now that could potentially play into an easy trap. I can't say much because it will spoil the experiment/bait, but I can say I am fucking stoked to do a post with pictures and screen captures and everything.
The shit that happened with Robbing the Hood was criminal. I lost the potential at making a good amount of money i actually wanted to be selfless with. I wanted to go to the cancer center and donate enough money to get on the plaque for both myself and my family members name (whom they were kind and amazing with until the end). That's what I wanted! They costed me the financial oppourtunity to help the people/center that helped someone I loved very much. Now, I am going to cost them and make more than I would have doing it.
Everything I am doing is in the best interest of Apes. When I finish writing my research book, it will be available to download for free to those of this community. It will be every major and minor notable event occuring to AMC since Jan 2021, a list of the crime and how it was executed and neglected, and everything DD along the way. It is designed to be a resource for sharing with others about what's really going on here.
This post will naturally bring out shills. I have a future experiment based on those that come here with motives. This post could double as bait I guess you could say.
Love you Apes. Have a great weekend! Go to the movies at AMC and enjoy buttety popcorn, Candy, soda, and some food. Support OUR business. Buy and Hold. Not Financial Advice.
TLDR: 1) How much Karma do they have? 2) What Karma type do they have? 3) What is the nature of their comment history? 4) What terminology do they use? 5) What are their AMC post/Comment time-frames? 6) I deleted this one because a shill is in the middle of a trap about this one. 7) Do they participate in group trend-marketting? 8) What do they have for culture development? 9) Do they often comment about AA? 10) How is their Buzzword rate? 11) Did they plant seeds for other stocks before they got dumped? 12) Was there a clear motivation posting/commenting transition for them? 13) How many posts of theirs are [removed] or [deleted] ? 14) How do they argue with others? 15) How diverse is their activity? 16) Do they have obvious and apparent karma farming before a history of FUD? 17) How would/do they respond to this : "What do you think we should do and why?" 18) How do their posts/comments/nature make you feel? 19) Is there account needlessly NSFW? 20) Do they have something odd that stands out? 21) Are they aggressively hyping up dates for events they are sure of?

2023.01.29 18:06 comeflywithme2tm Finding Shills - Similar Characteristics and Observations.

2022.12.16 00:54 MeaningFearless5240 I called my friend stupid for not getting a second opinion that could save her 90k, she hasnt replied and im glad.

So about 3 years ago i met "Jane" in a budget group, helped her understand what sinking funds mean, and she asked if she could message me for questions, sure fine no worries. I hear from her every few months (though i recently found out despite asking me questions she doesnt actually follow through with any of it, she always starts the conversatons). Jane has a partner "John" with 2 young kids, im not sure they know i exist tbh. We are really more acquaintances. (australia for refrence as well)
About 1.5yrs ago i know Jane signed up for one of those "build your own home from 5k" ads. These are a lot more indepth than that, and i recently did a similar thing. Through pure luck, we got the same sales guy, which is how i find out they never did the savings required through the scheme to save a deposit, and because they wouldnt sell her a block she quit. I had to explain to her that no... you still need a deposit. These programs help you save and give you incentives (upgrades to ceaser stone bench etc,) no one is giving you a block of land for 5k (which she didnt have then anyway).
Fast forward to late nov 22, she messages me they are signing on a house, yay awesome. But because John had to move for his job and has just started full time, they have $0 in savings. Jane tells me they have a package for 540k, with $15k first home owner grant and a $20k gift from the broker (turns out they need a personal loan to pay that back). I have a look online and tell her, is she sure this is a good idea, there are other exisitng homes (still newish) in the same area for 350k. No, this build is there ONLY chance to buy cause they cant POSSIBLY save the deposit. Right. I look at the builders site and find almost an identical home and land package for 450k. I ask her why she doesnt do this and save 90k, she says she is doing that, and im like ok awesome, but she actually isnt...
Over this month i have suggested on MULTIPLE occassions that they get a second opinon from another broker or their bank. See a different solictor (the one they have works for the broker). Nope. Wont do it. Cant ruin this chance. There are at least 5 homes for 450k ish on the builders site.... Like im so done with this stupidity. She didnt even know what settlement was and she wont make ONE PHONE CALL to ensure this is all legit or even to save 90k (wont call the builder either, i also doubt she knows what site costs are and if thats an added expense or included). Knowing all her details (she overshares like crazy) every bank calculator ive looked at wont loan them enough for the 540k build (and the valuation on it has come back at 520k anyway TWICE). Im holding out cause i honestly think this will all fall through as its insanity and i wanna know what happens lol. But man.... she really annoys the absolute crap out of me, i just dont wanna be rude (though i did lose my cool yesterday and bluntly told her i no longer care and if she wants to be this effin stupid thats on her, so might have lost the oppourtunity haha).
If it works out awesome... but i honestly doubt it. So much of it hinges on John doing ot constantly, and the "budget" she sent me doesnt include rent.... Ive said a few times, you know you pay rent + mortgage interest + this loan right, but she just says "it will be fine, john said so". If they can do that they can save a deposit..... Ive also told her this loan she told me about, the broker specifically said you should try pay it off in 2 yrs... and im like does this start from when the mortgage does or when does this 2 yr interest only thing start on the mortgage, does it include construction etc.... she cant tell me. I highly doubt they earn enough to pay 15k a year on this loan PLUS rent PLUS the mortgage interest. Especially as build times right now are so unpredictiable (i've seen builds right now taking only a few months and some people are at well over 8months with only a frame). I say this about affording cause there combined gross income is 95k (maybe 105k with ot)... i make 108k and im also paying rent+motgage+loan from an earlier consolidation and i have no kids and my mortgage is 485k, theres after this loan and gift is looking about 495k, and our loans would be almost the same payment (mortgage and personal).
TLDR - friend wont get a second opinion to possibly save 90k on her mortgage, i lose my temper and tell her thats stupid, and that i dont care what she does.

2016.02.19 05:36 GaiaT My Canadian Investing Ideas for the year - 2016!

One of my goals for this year is to make $50k in addition to my income. Having a goal is nice, but like most people if you don’t have a plan you are not going to get there.
There is only two ways I believe that I can get there. Starting a company or investing. I believe I don’t have enough passion to start a company. After spending some time understanding entrepreneurs and what drives them to start companies I don’t have what it takes. I don’t want to solve anyone’s problem, there isn’t an idea I passionately believe in. I simply want to make money and prove to myself that I can. That is probably my passion.
Keeping that in mind and keeping in mind that already a month has passed in the current year , I decided to get started on my investing goals.
I am lucky enough to have access to research material on stocks, macro-economic trends, investing ideas etc. One such document had a list of 30 stocks that it highlighted as good ideas for the year. I read through the document and picked stocks that I believe will do well for the year given my understanding of the world economy and the Canadian economy.
A large percentage of my investing capital is currently in Canadian Currency. As such I don’t want to pick a stock that only trades on the US exchange. I simply don’t want to convert my CAD to $ at the current exchange rate.As such my picks are stocks that trades on a CAD exchange.
There are 6 Canadian companies recommended in the report I read.
Alimentation Couche – Tard Inc (TSX:ALD.B)
“Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. operates convenience stores. The Company is engaged in the sale of goods for immediate consumption, road transportation fuel and other products through corporate stores and franchise operations. “
The analyst has a price target of 69$ . Current price is $60.98 . That is a gain of 13% if it is able to reach that price.
Personally, I am not interested in the convenience store market. So this stock is a no for me. Also I am not too sure if this sector will fair will if our economy struggles.
For this stock I placed an order for $5000 at market price in my TMX simulator so I can keep an eye on this stock. Based on how this stock does this year, I would know how valuable this analyst’s recommendations are.
Canadian National Railway Company (TSX:CNR)
“Canadian National Railway Company is engaged in the rail and related transportation business. It transports goods for business sectors, ranging from resource products to manufactured products to consumer goods. “
I have a soft place in my heart for CN. Our final year MBA project was on CN. This is an 8 month project that looks at the industry the company operates in, the suppliers, customers, the upcoming trends that will impact the company, the competition, and the internal financials and culture of the company. All this analyses is to help determine the future strategy for the company. Our group did a presentation to the senior management team of CN, including the CEO.
Based on the current price of CN stock and the target price of the analyst of $82 the return on this investment would be around 7%.
One of the things that is always highlighted about CN is its efficiency ratio. It has the best efficiency ratio in North America. This is an important ratio for railroads. It helps track how much a rail road is utilizing its assets. The better this ratio is the lower the cost of operating for a rail road. This will be helpful in tough economic times when it is a struggle to increase top line growth.
CN’s revenue is dependent on the money it makes transporting various goods such as oil, commodities, automobiles, lumber etc. When different industries are struggling such as oil there will be a reduction in CN’s business. Based on review of last year’s financial numbers CN was able to do well regardless of the struggles from Oil because it had an increase in business from other sectors such as automobiles.
For this year I believe there will be challenges because of dropping oil prices, decrease in demand for commodities from emerging markets , but I also believe it may be able to offset the drops from increase in demand for automobiles ( US Economy is expected to do well) , and increase in lumber from the housing industry in the US.
I also believe CN is a good stock to hold for long term, and is a stable stock. Its return is about 7%, good to hold in a portfolio if you have other more volatile stocks.
I am going to buy some for my RRSP and leave it in for now.
Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB)
“Enbridge is an energy transportation and distribution company. Enbridge conducts its business through five business segments: Liquids Pipelines; Gas Distribution; Gas Pipelines, Processing and Energy Services; Sponsored Investments and Corporate.”
From the research list Enbridge has the highest forecasted increase in the Canadian company categories. It is expected to increase 30% within the next year.
I am not familiar with the energy sector. I found the projected return profitable, so I did some research.
Here are my findings:
The Good
Enbridge owns the pipelines which Oil flow through. It has set contracts with Oil companies, regardless of Oil Volume. As long as a specific company has some traffic it will get paid. However, if Oil prices are depressed for a long time, new contracts will be at risk. Enbridge does a good job acquiring other companies to expand its growth. Recent acquisition of Tupper Main and Tupper West gas plants is one such example. My personal believe is that Oil will move backup near the $50 per barrel toward the end of the year. Enbridge will benefit from rising oil price. Will be sharing my analysis on Oil prices in a future post. Enbridge has a history of paying dividends and Canadians looking for income producing stock typically purchases Enbridge. A good portion of its return will be from dividends.
The Risks
One of the complaints about Enbridge is that it raises dividends while going out to the equity market for more funding for growth. Companies normally have three sources to invest, either use the income they have earned, go to the debt or equity markets. Using the income they have earned is the cheapest source of investing. It can also be argued that paying out dividends forces a company to return cash that it does not have a good use for. As a result when it finds a good oppourtunity it may not have enough cash on hand, and may need to go to the capital markets.
Based on my findings I purchased 103 shares at the start of February 2016 at a price of $46.54 per share. My goal is to keep this till end of 2016 and reassess at that point. I may re-evaluate my stock holdings if any major events occur.
The Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD)
“The Toronto-Dominion Bank and its subsidiaries provide Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking, U.S. Personal and Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance and Wholesale Banking. “
TD has been recommended by the analyst among the big Banks in Canada for the following reasons: Less exposure to Oil in comparison to its peers Less exposure to Western Canada 25% of its earnings coming from the US retail business, which will benefit from US rising interest rate. Risks: Td has a law suit pending from the Stanford Ponzi Scheme Mortgage loan risks in Canada, which will affect every bank in Canada Overall economy deterioration, which will affect most stocks
The expected return from TD is approximately 14%. For now, I am not going to invest in TD or any of the big banks. I may reconsider, but at the moment it is a no. I worry that if the Canadian Economy struggles due to weak Oil Prices and falling currency the effects may be seen by the bank stocks. I have placed an order for $5000 worth of TD stocks in my TMX Simulation program to monitor the stock.
Intact Financial Corporation (TSX:IFC)
“Intact Financial Corporation is the largest provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada. Intact offers home, auto and business insurance through Intact Insurance, belairdirect, Grey Power, BrokerLink and Jevco. “
I will purchase some IFC shares as a defensive measure against upcoming challenging macro-economic climate. General theory of portfolio management dictates that you hold a balanced portfolio to minimize risks. It is considered a defensive buy because insurance industry premium growth is not related to economic growth, this stock will not suffer from a bad economy like a bank or other financial stocks, and it has a long track record of growth and profitability.
The stock has an average volume of about 200k which is smaller than the trade volume of companies I normally trade on. I am not too worried, since this company is Canada’s largest property and casualty insurer.
Based on the analyst estimate of a price possibility of $104, if I set a market order to buy shares tomorrow morning (Feb 2nd, 2016) at a price of around $83.43, I stand to gain around 17% to 19% if the price target is met.
I have also added this stock to my TMX simulator to monitor its performance.
Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE)
“Cenovus Energy Inc. and its subsidiaries, are in the business of the development, production and marketing of crude oil, natural gas liquids (“NGLs”) and natural gas in Canada with refining operations in the United States. “
The last company on the top pick list is an oil company with a very strong balance sheet. This company has a price target of $23 with its current price it will yield over 27% in return if it is able to reach its price target. I believe Oil prices will be getting better toward the end of this year, however it may drop more before it gets there. As such I will monitor this stock by buying it in my TMX simulator.
Based on the 6 recommendations, I have invested in two of the companies, and is targeting to invest in CN Rail in the near future. I will post updates as I readjust my portfolio and move some other cash holdings into securities. Good luck with your investing.
