I am a guy. Me & a girl who I have been cool with for around 3 years met at work. I stopped working there in 2022 but returned in 2023. We got closer again & started talking like before. At work we would talk for hours whenever we saw each other it was real good vibes. We wouldn’t walk by & not speak. For like a week I just started flirting with her to see where it would lead and she invited me over & we had sex. Everything still remained cool we still talked at work & outside of work. She invited me over 2 weeks later & made me food & we just chilled. But randomly two weeks later she just randomly changed. Now whenever I try to speak to her she keeps it short, kinda pushes me away & act like she doesn’t want to talk but she talks to everybody else with no problem. She didn’t check up on me when my grandma died nor did she wish me a happy birthday. I question myself why did she switch up on me like that out of nowhere?

For some context: - i am 20f and live with my mother - my gf (19f) and i have been together for 3 years - 2022 dec - 2023 jan i had lots of family visiting which made it hard to see my gf as regularly as i wanted to (once a week, maybe less) - 2023 march my mother and i went on a last minute trip to america as we thought my grandfather was going to pass. it was initially 2 weeks, but we extended 2 more weeks while we were there as he needed extra support - the 22/23 issue and this extension caused a great deal of stress and frustration on my gf - i went to japan for a week with my mum in november 2023 for her birthday. this also caused some frustration and anxiety for my gf, but much less than previous trips
There is still more layers to all of that, but am happy to clarify in replies.
I am going to america again this december for 3 weeks for christmas. This time around there is no problem, my mum and i are going to spend christmas with family and have a vacation. due to prior events, i have found it difficult to talk to my gf about this upcoming trip as i know it will cause lots of frustration and make her upset.
She gets anxious and upset, as we are apart for a long time. And she also feels anxiety that i may extend my trip again similar to the 2023 extension.
I dont know what to do anymore. I dont want the relationship to end, but i find it so difficult and frustrating to deal with. I sometimes dont really understand her frustration and sometimes it is quite unjustified. For example, while I was in Japan and we would call, we would have arguments and she would not really be happy speaking to me.
I understand that its hard when your s/o is far away and for a long period of time, but i am finding it harder and harder to help this. The obvious answer is to not go on trips, but i WANT to go. I want to see my family and I want to not spend another lonely christmas with just me and my mother, when i could spend it with my grandparents who dont have much time left.

I (33,f) was with my ex bf (33,m) for a year and half. We met on Okcupid, and were very alike in many ways and hit it off right away, 4 months later, we decided to go steady. He came off as someone who was very family oriented, someone who cared about building a legacy, and was marriage minded, and that I was his first girlfriend.
Being together with him felt like a dream, he accepted me as a whole, encouraged me to improve, didn't leave when i went through surgery early on in our relationship, he took me to all his company's annual dinners, brought me to see his parents a month into getting official and I brought him to see mine a little later, he took us out on our first trip when we got intimate for the first time. Things were mostly peaceful and we hardly fought, i took care of him in every way I could, cooked, cleaned, took care of him when he was sick. I have never cared a single bit that he was earning lesser than I was, and I shared the dating expenses. I was nothing but grateful and happy to have found someone like him after all the prior unlucky encounters.
At one point in our relationship, he was having issues at work where his probation was being extended, I comforted him and worked together to pass the extension, i passed his cv to all the headhunters in my contacts and hoping it would help him securing a job opportunity elsewhere, he eventually passed and we celebrated it by taking a trip together.
After the trip, I found out that he's always had dating apps installed on his phone, i was devastated when I first found out and confronted him over it. He cried and begged that it was because he thought i would leave him as he was on the verge of losing his job at the time, he promised that he didn't swipe nor cheat on me, I broke down and promised him that I would always be by his side. He uninstalled the dating app after i found out and promised that we'll work towards our future, so we began our house hunting, and he eventually bought his first apartment for us.
A few months later, i realized my period stopped because of the pills we discussed over it and agreed to stop the pills, and he'd be using condom moving forward. However, he was really undisciplined when it comes to contraception and i eventually got pregnant, i didn't want to abort the child at first and told him we should just get married, he said that he wasn't ready and talked me into having an abortion. I was sad, but I didn't want my child to live a life where the father didn't want him. He promised that we would have our children in the future when the time was right. And so we went with his decision, I was crying the whole night before the visit and cried in front of the doctor. It was beyond devastating for me.
Fast forward to 26th of December, I had a hunch that he was hiding something from me, so I went through his phone, turned out he had been cheating on me since day 1 with girls from dating apps, he had been taking them out on dates, attempting to sleep with them. He used all my favourite pictures that i took of him on dating apps, claimed that he was looking for long-term relationships. It killed me to know that he texted them on my birthday, flirted with them on Valentine's day, cheated on me even when I was helping him with job hunting while he lived a double life that I knew nothing of. I confronted him right away, and he claimed it was because his parents didn't like me, he begged me not to go, he claimed that he hadn't done anything physical with them and swore he will not cheat on me ever again, and we went for our first couple counselling on the same night. Life after that was hell, i couldn't trust him, i was fighting with my own self-respect, i fell into a deep depression. We tried our best at rebuilding the trust, and i acknowledged that he tried his best to reassure me and calmed me down whenever i was having a panic attack.
We decided to take a 3 week break after a month of trying to reconcile, the 3 weeks of no contact were brutal, i didn't know if he was cheating on me but I was so afraid of losing him at the same time. 3 weeks later, he came over to my house with gifts and broke up with me. I begged for him not to go, and that we can mend things. He wished me all the best and promised that i'll find my forever person one day and he then just left.
It's been 3 and a half months since the break up, and it still haunts me, i tried my best in that relationship, i gave in my all, i was a good girlfriend, i listened to him and was supportive. But this is what i'm being rewarded with, a very painful experience.

If anyone is interested in the background of how I got pressed into using SuiteTax by NetSuite support, I'm happy to share. Otherwise, I'll just jump directly into the issue.
We have orders coming in from Shopify with properly VAT assessment as tax-inclusive. When they come in, we have to have SuiteTax reassess the taxes and our goal is to make them match up. (Again, why we have to do it this way is a long story).
I tried using a tax type that is " TAX INCLUDED IN NET AMOUNT " but this incorrectly assess the taxes.
VAT in Croatia is 25%
Tax-Inclusive pricing on 499 should render a VAT of 99.80. That's what it is in Shopify and that is correct. In NetSuite as currently set up, the taxes are llisted at 124.75. This means it's calculating the taxes on 499 instead of calculating what part would be tax and what part would be taxes. In proper tax inclusive pricing it should be 25% of 399.20, which gives you the amount of 99.80 which adds up to 499.
Correct tax inclusive pricing is calculated (total - price/(1+tax percentage))= tax amount. NetSuite is doing this .25*total = tax amount.
The question is, does anyone know how to correctly set up SuiteTax for tax inclusive pricing? I've asked NetSuite support and I'm not getting an answer from them.

Well, Clefable's votes were unsurprising. The vast majority of voters voted for Gen 6 OU, where Clefable first achieved Peak Clefable - although there were some people noting that it was arguably even more dominant in pre-home Gen 8 OU, where the limited metagame was incredibly kind to it. Clefable has joined Landorus-T in the Forever OU Gang...although, we thought Tyranitar and Garchomp belonged there too, and look how that went.

Moving along, though, we move to Ninetales, the elegant fire fox, which in most cases is a superior browser to Chrome. Aside its design, in most of its early history it was a fairly unremarkable Fire-type special attacker in a universe with many, many, many of those. In Generation 5, however, things began to change for it...

So let's get to it. The metagames in question:

Gen 1 UU: You'd think that Ninetales is solidly outclassed by Moltres in a tier that includes Moltres, with no abilities existing to help Ninetales along, and it seems that for a while, this was considered to be the case. However, the current VR tells a different story, with Moltres having fallen off an absolute cliff to the point where it's now tiered in NU, while Ninetales sits much more comfortably as a lead. The reason? Articuno. In Generation 1, Fire doesn't resist Ice, so Moltres (and Charizard)'s weakness to Ice makes their matchups with Articuno awful - and Moltres is the same speed as Articuno, too, making it even worse. Ninetales is faster than Articuno, threatens it with powerful Fire Blasts that have a solid chance to Burn and cripple physical attackers like Dragonite, and can use Body Slam to fish for paralysis on switch-ins. Dodrio moving up also helps, as it CANNOT switch into Ninetales at all. It's got a solid place in the lead metagame due to its truly bad matchup, Tentacruel, being a way too valuable mon to use as a lead (especially when Kadabra exists) and, even though it still has flaws, it really has enough going for it for the VR to place Ninetales in B- rank.

Gen 2 NU: I don't know why Game Freak decided to look at Ninetales and thought 'this thing needs to be nerfed', bringing its Special Attack down from 100 to 80, but they did, and Ninetales is forever cursing the day this happened, dropping it into GSC NU. However, it's a decent mon there. Its high special bulk lets it take on Xatu, Magmar, and Weezing very well while threatening Weezing especially back with Flamethrower (preferred over Fire Blast due to Ninetales's more defensive role), and access to Sunny Day allows it to gain some power back despite the nerf. It also gets Roar to take advantage of Pineco's Spikes, and its defensive profile with limited coverage gives it solid case as a RestTalker. There's just one problem - one of the best Pokemon in the tier is Water-type Octillery, and Dewgong is a solid threat too. Ninetales can't make any real progress against Octillery, and being so hard countered by one of NU's best mons is tough for it. Still, the VR places Ninetales in B+ rank, a very respectable showing.

Gen 3 UU: And due to the addition of the new great Status-inducing Will-o-Wisp, Ninetales got moved back up to UU in ADV!! Where it's...kind of terrible. Unfortunately for Ninetales, in the most recent tier shift, Arcanine entered the tier. Arcanine completely outclasses Ninetales in almost every way, and has the great ability Intimidate, AND higher Special Attack! There is, quite honestly, literally no reason to use Ninetales in the current Gen 3 UU, unless you REALLY want a Fire-type Will-o-Wisp user. The current VR places Ninetales in C- rank, barely above completely useless. Gen 3 UU will be excluded from the poll.

Gen 4 NU: They decided to throw Ninetales a bit of a bone this generation, giving it access to an actual coverage move in Energy Ball and a powerful setup move in Nasty Plot. What's more, its ability in Flash Fire allows it to switch into expected Fire-type attacks from mons like Charizard and threaten them back with boosted moves - and DPP NU is a tier with a number of strong Fire-types! It can also effectively run Choice Specs, or Hypnosis to nail pokemon on the switch. That said, it's stuck using the mediocre Hidden Power Rock to hit opposing Fire-types, and other Flash Fire mons like Houndoom can exploit it quite well. Bulky Waters that don't take too much from Energy Ball, too, can deal with it, especially Mantine. Overall, it's solid, if not amazing, with the VR placing Ninetales in B rank.

Gen 5 OU: It's time for Ninetales's big moment in the sun (ha ha.). As the only non-legendary in Generation 5 with the ability Drought, Ninetales is absolutely essential on Sun teams. That sounds great, yes, but...First off, Sun's big tools against Rain and Sand used to be its powerful Grass-type Chlorophyll mons, specifically Venusaur. That's banned, now, and while Rain and Sand were able to get along without their Swift Swim and Sand Rush, Sun was absolutely crippled. As Ninetales is useless on non-Sun teams, its ability to work is shaky at best, and its weakness to Stealth Rock makes it even harder to use. Unfortunately for Ninetales, its big moment of the sun was before the weather speed abilities ban, and it's just not good enough anymore. The VR places Ninetales in C rank. As unfortunate as it is, I have to exclude Ninetales's sole OU placement from the VR.

Gen 6 PU: And to add insult to injury, Ninetales no longer has exclusive access to Drought, with Torkoal being considered a better Sun setter in most cases, forcing it to lower tiers. These lower tiers have Drought banned, forcing it to the inferior Flash Fire. Gen 6 saw Ninetales fall all the way down to PU, where it's, as is often the case for Ninetales, okay if nothing flashy. Its Nasty Plot and Fire Blast are as strong as ever, which in the era of power creep and Mega Evolution, lands it in a solid niche in a low, low tier. It's still decent (although earlier on in the gen it was considered the premier fire type of ORAS PU), with its ability to force out some mons, however there are just faster mons in lower tiers now, meaning there is plenty that revenges it, like Floatzel, Ursaring, and Simipour. That said, however, Ninetales can absolutely demolish Quagsire with its interesting coverage option in Energy Ball, allowing it to setup break stall without getting walled by Quagsire - a very powerful niche! While Ninetales might struggle against fast frail Water-types, against slower bulkier mons, Ninetales is very much in its element! The VR currently places Ninetales in B rank.

Gen 7 RU: In a nice turn of events, Ninetales is able to end up in a tier where it doesn't have to compete with Torkoal, but Sun is legal. Nasty Plot and Choice Specs remain solid options with its high power, and having the ability to actually use Solar Beam means that Water-types are no longer a huge issue for it, especially slow bulky ones. The addition of Z-crystals is a major positive for a setup mon like Ninetales, as +2 Inferno Overdrive in Sun will obliterate most things that aren't Snorlax or enemy Flash Fire users. What's more, Virizion and Metagross are two of the best mons in the metagame, and Ninetales loves that - even if Salazzle gives it a bit of pause. While it still has its issues of being a bit frail, and being weak to Stealth Rocks, and letting in certain walls like Goodra and Snorlax pretty easily, it's still a very good mon for aggressive or balanced teams when it can come in. The VR places Ninetales in A rank.

Gen 8 ZU: Unfortunately, Ninetales is dropped from the the Drought-legal tiers again, and forced back into its inferior ability. It still has some solid play here, with its ability as a Nasty Plot sweeper being especially threatening in such a low power tier, but it has competition in fellow Gen 1 fire type Rapidash, whose physical ability and Play Rough access to threaten Dragon-types like Altaria gives it purchase. It's still decent enough, but it's a bit of a matchup fish (in part because people tend to prepare more for Rapidash, sometimes ending up with teams that are weak to Ninetales, as they are very different counterplay despite both being faster Fire Types.). The VR currently places Ninetales in B- rank.

I hate posting this for many reasons. Because a lot of the other Mother’s Day posts are much worse, and because I really do love my husband and he’s a great person.
But he really fumbled this past Sunday. And usually I get over these things pretty quickly but I still feel so hurt. I’m trying to move on but I can’t seem to. So I’m venting here I guess and looking for advice on how to get past this.
I don’t ever expect a parade on Mothers Day, even though I’ve been a “bonus mom” for a decade. And while most of those years have been met with no flowers or anything, he still at least says “happy Mother’s Day” to me. Apparently that had been enough for me to feel fine. This year was nothing. From him or SD (she’s a kid, I don’t fault her - usually her mom takes her to pick me something out, but she has her hands wrapped up this year.)
It doesn’t help that I work 6 days a week and spend my free time with SD. Or that on Saturday I woke up super early to finish my work, then rush to target to pick out a Mother’s Day gift for SD(13) to gift her mom, and then rush back home to start making a cake from scratch for SD’s birthday before people come over to celebrate.
It also doesn’t help that on Sunday my husband showed me the happy Mother’s Day text he sent to his mom and reminded me not to forget to wish my good friend a happy Mother’s Day as she is a new mom. All of that consideration and none for me? And at a week after I paid almost $2k for SD’s school trip that neither him or bio mom could afford.
The lack of acknowledgment has hurt me so much that I’m passively adding things up in my head against my will. Have I really planned, purchased or made every single: birthday gift, cake, party, Christmas present, family trip, extracurricular activity? Did I not get her ready for all of her ballet recitals? Who did she hug after her mom was arrested? Who’s childhood room is she sleeping in? Have I paid a third of the cost for every pair of glasses, and retainer?

World of tanks blitz was created a while ago and I Wanted to have an early celebration for them so happy early birthday

With Sunday and the Dreammaster's plan being your classic Lotus-Eater Machine plan, with Ena's Dream of Order being the forced paradise onto everyone type of deal, I was wondering how people thought it compares to similar schemes in media. Now that we had a little time to digest it.
It's a pretty common trope these days, but I will say I was surprised Honkai Star Rail pulled this one off so early in its plotline. Usually these kind of schemes are THE end goal that concludes the entire storyline of a series, rather than it being a singular arc.
For some examples in other series I can think of off the top of my head:

• Naruto with the Infinite Tsukuyomi (probably what most people here would be familiar with)
• Negima with Cosmo Entellecheia (probably one of the best long term executions of the idea imo)
• Code Geass with the Ragnarok Connection
• Honkai Impact 3rd's multiple variations of the idea
• Persona 5 had two different angles of it
• Madoka Rebellion
• Final Fantasy Tactics Advance had this as the central plot conflict
• And countless other examples across all sorts of media.

Personally I thought given the limitations they had to work with, it was pretty well-done for the most part. The end goal was something a lot of folks called the moment Penacony was revealed as a dreamscape. Since that sort of setting is just prime material for this sort of thing. But I think what sets out Star Rail's version of this is the way it tied in with "heart" of the protagonists so to speak. That they centered everything so well with the ethos of Trailblazing through Mikhail and the Astral Express crew to clash with the vision of Order turned what could have easily been a pretty standard "No bad guy, people shouldn't stay in dreams, they need to live in reality!" hero debate into something genuinely compelling with themes particular to this game.
It also helps that they did a pretty damn good job of fleshing out Sunday as a character, and his voicelines in the final boss fight (particularly his spin on the Book of Genesis in the final phase) really put some other antagonists (not necessarily villains mind, there's a difference) to shame. And I really liked all the more subtle elements they used to convey this narrative, like Sunday appearing as a Conductor that guides people to his idea of happiness, while Mikhail and the Trailblaze was represntted via a clock/compass that just nudged people in the right direction, rather than dictate where they must go. I always appreciate a story that doesn't insult the audiences' intelligence and lets folks read between the lines. Despite some bugbears I have here and there, I think everything was tied together pretty nicely overall.
So I'd say it's better than a good number of other attempts, but not quite up there with say Cosmo Entellecheia from Negima. But that's with the caveat that we're comparing a manga that had literal years to build up to that plotpoint, while Honkai Star Rail had maybe 18ish hours to sell it to the player. So I think you have to give them credit for what they had to work with.
So what do you guys think of Star Rail's execution of it? Enjoyed it, didn't enjoy it? What do you think was done well, and what do you think could have been improved?

A few weeks ago, my dad and I adopted a puppy while visiting a local shelter to take home to the rest of the family. We named her Bailey. Bailey is about 14 or 15 weeks old as I type this. She's a mutt, but we're almost positive she has a lot of boxer in her. We took her home to meet my family as well as our other dog, Harley. Harley is an 11 year old newfoundland (so she's quite the old lady.) She's incredibly sweet, patient, and docile, and she perks right up around other dogs so we thought bringing a new one home would make her happy (especially since she used to have two older brothers.) I guess we didn't realize that bringing home a puppy was a little too much of an age gap
When they were first introduced, the meeting went decently. They sniffed each other, Bailey got excited, but Harley grew tired with her energy quickly. That's fine. She's an old girl so she's not nearly as energetic as they used to be. I assumed that in the next week or so Harley would warm up to Bailey and they'd be super close, especially since Harley has been known to be best friends with anything that breathes no matter what species
Instead their relationship just got worse
Bailey loves Harley. She follows her around everywhere and always wants to play or get close to her. Harley, on the other hand, can't stand it. She'll run off into another room, jump up on a high piece of furniture, or bark at Bailey until she leaves. Now it's gotten to the point where Harely growls and snarls which she has NEVER done before
I don't know how I can get Bailey to understand that Harley gets overwhelmed by her energy and having her personal space invaded. Even when Harley's growling, Bailey will continue to be all over her. Sometimes Harley is at fault though. Bailey could be minding her own business not even looking at Harley and she'll still bark at her. So really, Bailey needs to understand boundaries and Harley needs to understand that Bailey is a part of the family now
It's so disheartening seeing their relationship like this. I feel really guilty for making Harley so miserable, but unfortunately for her, my family and I have absolutely no plans to return Bailey since we've grown attached and she's not a danger

This is long so thanks to all who reads this. My boyfriend and I have been together for 10 years and we have had a ton of ups and downs. As I mentioned he is a school counselor, he has even had inappropriate relations with another teacher at one of the schools he worked at and that was a whole thing. So I’m very insecure bc he has a history of texting and flirting with other girls. So this school year he’s at a new school settling into his role. He’s a young handsome man and he tells me all the time how he can’t get students out of his office, and for some time I could understand bc it’s rare for black students to see a young black counselor especially having a similar disadvantaged upbringing as them. So here is where my problem started. All these girls would come to him and cry about their relationship issues (something I didn’t do in high school) and say they think their pregnant etc and all these teenage sob stories. So a pregnant student invited him to her baby shower and he was dead set on going because he supported her a lot and we had a VERY LONG conversation about OPTICS and how we never want things ever look a certain way. When I told a family member we were going to said students baby shower I was given the response “why? That’s weird.” So there’s the optics. So fast forward, I’m going through his phone and he texted a female student at 5:30 AM (we were at the gym together I was doing RDLs in front of him) “happy birthday 🎈🎊”. At 5:30??!! He said that the previous day she kept reminding him and her mom has cancer and he feels bad so that’s just when he remembered. So then the student texts later “wya with my chipotle” and he responds “driving back”. He said that he buys students lunch on their birthdays. I continue going through the phone and I see multiple students numbers saved male and female but I’m more concerned about the females asking “can you call me down 5th period”. For example.
Now I do not think he is a groomer bc these messages are largely about graduation dates and deadlines and he does not communicate with students after school hours BUT after we already had the conversation about optics and I’ve already voiced my insecurities he’s continued to show he has blurred boundaries. I don’t plan to stick around when the accusations come rolling in. When I confronted him I felt gaslit and when I said I was going to post the screenshot to social media he almost got physical because I’m putting his character and job in jeopardy but I believe other people would agree with me that his behavior is weird. • D tier are my trashy cheapies, made from reclaimed components. I don't feel right asking a lot for reclaimed components. I value them in the $40 - $50 range, not really picky about what I trade for. I might even take dirt pedals for these. Only got one left, trying to phase out this tier.
• C tier are the cheapies made with new components. I value these in the $50 - $60 range, not very picky here either.
• B tier are my average builds, I will trade for pedals in the $65-$90 value range, depending on the complexity of the build. A little pickier, but still pretty open.
• A tier are my happy happy builds, usually more complex or just nicer quality. I will be picky about trades for these. (But still not Boutique prices; I have no delusions). It's probably less about value here and more about how much I actually want the thing you have. Think in the $90 - $130 range.

Creature from the planet Chyowngg	B	PIC Demo	Prototype of a unique fuzz I've been developing that I call the Chyowngg fuzz. It's a 2-stage octaver that gives a bright synthy tone with a distinctive envelope (hence the name). You can toggle each stage from octave to non-octave mode for a variety of interesting timbres. Also has a tone control, but the tone control is before the octave stages so it results in interesting behaviors depending on the switch settings. It's in a tin meant to be painted like an alien, though some say it looks more like a triceratops.
Dumbo's Bazzrite Fussrite	C	PIC Demo	A bazz-fussified mosrite fuzzrite circuit I cobbled together in point-to-point wiring style. Housed in a little Dumbo puzzle tin with GLITTER! Controls are for balance (kind of tone-cum-gain) and volume.
Wiff Spwinkles on Top	C	PIC Demo	This point-to-point fuzz lives in the same neighborhood as the Harmonic Percolator, but has a few differences. I altered the way the gain knob works, and added a switch to toggle bass cut. It's housed in an ice-creamity welly tin.

Let's say, there is a person you know, who is facing a major decision. This decision would have a big influence on their happiness, with no information that would favour either choice. They could choose to pursue their desire and get a possible positive outcome, but with high stakes and the risk of making everything worse. Otherwise, they could choose not to pursue and leave everything at status quo. Nothing would change, everything stays as it was and no one would hurt, except for the person making the decision. (From their point of view at least)
If possible, I'd also be happy if you could include if your answer would be different, depending on, if they are more masculine or feminine representing. Of course there will be no judging of you or your answer. This is for research purposes only.

I've since played and just finished Stormblood as a Dancer
I'm looking for experienced players 80+ to suggest which class would be best for the type of player I am.
I am a casual player I play on PC and Console I stay away from Tanking and Healing in general I am happy to melee DPS or Ranged DPS I prefer DPS that don't need constant positionals but happily include them in rotation when needed I have all expansions unlocked so have access to most classes at the moment or eventually all I prefer a simpler rotation but nothing too braindead it makes me bored I play solo and don't use FC (although I'm happy with NN atm)
Does anyone know the 'perfect' class for the above?
I like all themes, transmogs, playstyles etc of most of the jobs which is why I'm finding it difficult. Normally it's just play what you enjoy or what takes an interest but they all do lol

Set between the end and the imminent post-war Godzilla represented the horrors of this. A war that persists, the catastrophes it entails are alive among the people. There are many beautiful images of destroyed Tokyo and its progressive reconstruction, moving forward, trying to start again but the protagonist Koichi is unable to do so because he lives with ghosts and torments, he has not fulfilled his """"duty"""" of kamikaze, he fled, just as he hesitates and trembles before the first appearance of Godzilla. The human sector is one of the film's strong points, especially because in films of this type it is often its weak point, the war has never ended for Koichi so he is unable to fully enjoy the opportunity of a new life with Noriko to little Akiku. These dynamics could perhaps have been more in-depth, Koichi's internal torment is often told more, however nothing serious especially for a film of this type. There is a lot of Spielberg in Yamazaki's direction, Godzilla's first appearance is reminiscent of Jurassic Park, subjectively I would have liked more construction in Big G's appearance but the effect is to show him directly; in the end the references to Jaws are evident. The destruction of Tokyo by Godzilla works very well with well-constructed dynamics and shots, the one of the train very good as well as the preparation and launch of the kaiju's atomic ray with the subsequent effects. For the budget available the work is very good, the performance of Godzilla is exemplary, the military vehicles may not have a not so perfect performance but never anything so bad for the eyes, the work on the effects is in fact very spot on. As in Honda's film, in Minus One Godzilla embodies desperation and his attacks are aimed at signs of human progress, both technological and lifestyle, such as the iconic train, the theater and the radio station. However, the kaiju will have no qualms about destroying everything. In the mythology not only of Godzillian but also of Japanese, water is very important and it is from here that everything is born, the film in fact begins with water and the color blue is almost always present, the photography always inserts objects or elements that recall the aquatic color even in the interiors of houses and exteriors. Even moments of rain are therefore significant. The destruction of Tokyo and the resulting effects, which are very human and personal for the protagonist, just when he had just laid himself bare with Noriko, therefore perhaps accepting to really live, is the turning point towards a personal revenge against the kaiju. Even though Koichi and Noriko are ashamed of it, they are two survivors of the war, the film emphasizes how orders from above cause death, planes without the possibility of evacuation, kamikazes, war is something imposed from above , by governments. Minus One, unlike many other films about Godzilla, does not show the government's choices in the foreground, the citizens suffer them, the anti-Godzilla cry is in fact a free voluntary action of the population. The logic of dying for the country is rejected but instead one must live and survive to build the future. Therefore the point of view of the story is framed by Koichi and the citizens who have recently seen the war and relive those horrors through Godzilla, there are no torments of Yamane or Serizawa from Honda's film, no one questions whether Godzilla could be studied, there isn't even a scientific etymology of the kaiju, the population is interested in moving forward and the volunteers want to kill the monster for this. The film is very square and also linear, so in the ending, instead of aiming for presumed twists, it would have been better to focus on Koichi's character, involving the viewer in the moment of the definitive choice that completes his narrative arc. In fact, Koichi is dragged into an existence of war, the dream of a possible life with Noriko and Akiku opposed by his revenge and torments. Certainly with a bigger budget the ship sequence in the finale would have been more impactful, but Godzilla works great in the film, his moments are effective both in the destruction of Tokyo and in the sequences at sea. So even the clash at the end with the iconic soundtrack is very good. There is clearly a strong reference to Dunkirk both purely scenic but also for the spirit of free action of citizens, becoming volunteers, it is a film that focuses on the concept of spontaneous organization without the need for government bodies which instead brought death and war .Yamazaki, in addition to Spielberg, also mentions Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah from 2021, the director himself made it explicit, the underwater scenario and Koichi's action in the finale are examples. Most likely Minus One will be the progenitor for a new Japanese saga, I am very happy about it, in conclusion, the film has a well-described human aspect, yes, at times perhaps more told than experienced but in any case the drama is very present as is the destruction and the desperation that war brings, also represented by Godzilla himself; the kaiju works great, his presence is well exploited if in a Godzilla film, this works the film is spot on and successful. Beautiful.

For context my husband and I have been together 10 years and we have 2 kids age 6&3. I don’t expect anything for any occasion, not Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas or even my birthday.
