What would you choose? Both cars are manual. I know they’re both very different. But I’m just curious about everyone’s opinions. This would be a second car by the way. My main is a 2020 Tacoma.

2024.05.15 08:39 KrazyKazz 2020 Subaru Impreza Back to Back Oil Leak

Hello All, I am in process of taking my premium trim, which is the mid level of Impreza back to the dealer for another oil leak. First one was an lower oil pan, last one was just 3 weeks ago for an upper oil pan leak. Now it may be the rear main, or failed upper oil pan seal. Our warranty ends next year April and now worried I have a lemon as it only has 30 k on it. I think its too late for lemon law as we paid off the vehicle. Should I pressure the dealer, and our calling corporate to throw in a free extended warranty as I dont have faith this will hold up from further leaks in the future. Anyone having issues of oil leaking on their own couple year old ride?

2024.05.15 06:35 cocodeathstrike Cam Case Leak

I have a 2017 Subaru Impreza 58,000 miles. Today the dealership told me I have a cam case leak and it would be a little over $2,000 to fix. I was reading that this seems to be a slightly common issue.
Is this something that needs to be fixed right away? Also is it horrible I’m ready to say forget it and trade it in for something new. I feel like this is so early on to be having these issues!
Any thoughts are always appreciated! 🚘

2024.05.15 06:18 Western_Selection154 Buy the 2020 wrx or lease a new one

Hello guys,
I need some advice.
  1. To either buy back my 2020 subaru Wrx that I leased for 21,500 CAD taxes in. I have about 50,000 km on it. I did not abused the car. Purchased ceramic coating, extended warranty for 100k km or 7 years. If I keep it I need to replace the brakes and do the 50k maintenance that is about 800$.
  2. Lease a brand new ew 2024 subaru wrx from the dealer. They will give me 3,000$ for giving them my car on the price of the new one. The new one is about 41,000 CAD and it comes to around 200$ bi weekly for 30 months with a 30,000 buy back at the end.

2024.05.15 05:54 hot-hills-near-you Random pop/click/clunk noise when accelerating and letting off the gas (2003 Subaru Impreza Outback AT)

Hey all: Have a little bit of a perplexing issue going on. Whenever I accelerate or let off the gas, there is a loud pop or clunk noise somewhere in the drivetrain. It seems to happen in random locations. Also, at certain rpm’s and at idle (foot on the break, in drive) there is a heat shield rattle. And, at about 70 mph and above, when I take my foot off the gas there is a clicking noise. It is inconsistent with rpm and only happens with my foot off the gas.
Could my heat shield be moving around and hitting my driveshaft? In my Subaru they sit parallel with eachother.
My other thought is CV axel but the boots are intact.
Anyone ever deal with something like this? Again, this is a noise that is different than the typical heat shield rattle that comes with owning a Subaru.
Thanks!

2024.05.15 05:29 swayztrain What is this?

What is this?
Probably a dumb question, but I just picked up a used 2010 Subaru Impreza. Is this thing in the upper right windshield part of the car from factory? Antenna? Or some aftermarket thing? Any ideas? It’s kind of annoyingly in the view of the passenger but I don’t want to rip it out if it’s part of the stock car. Many thanks!

Looking at this as an option for my son heading to college. I think the history looks ok, its a Subaru so I'm thinking it will go 200-300K+ miles with proper maintenance. Any thoughts or insight? Would this be a good buy? Thanks for any input!

2024.05.15 00:07 These-Faithlessness1 Car accident made a domino effect

TLDR: Car accident led to my uncle’s toe getting amputated, and family wants me to lawyer up.
I and a passenger (My uncle) were in a four car accident 4/23/24. While at a light just seconds, if that, of stopping at a red light I was rear ended by F-150 King Ranch. I was in my 2017 Subaru Impreza, the impact forced me into a Rav4, and then into another Subaru. My car was totaled, and the F-150 was undriveable. Dashcam has saved me from a lot of trouble thankfully.
But I and my passenger went to the ER as my left shoulder dislocated and popped back in moments after. The arm still has pain but I’m hoping it clears up. Passengers left leg hit the dash to the point he believed he broke it, X-rays proved otherwise. We got discharged that evening with some bruises and small cuts from the rear windshield exploding during impact. Over the next week and a half-ish his leg and foot swelled greatly, he had to force a shoe on, of which caused a blister around his pinky toe. On 5/10/24 an infection had set in and I took him to the ER, since he has been admitted, the pinky toe was amputated Sunday, and a revision done today.
I have family all on my case to lawyer up and I’m not sure what to do. My insurance has been great, the F-150’s can’t even get in contact with the driver. Is there even a case here or just a mess of circumstances?

I currently own the Civic but have a line on the Subaru. Is it worth the hassle to buy the Subaru? Anyone know more about cars than I do who can chime in? The Honda is my first car that wasn't a hand me down beater, so I'm a bit lost.

2024.05.14 23:04 Tylerthegrey WRX 2022 premium low oil light on

So I have recently purchased a 2022 WRX premium at 7500 miles and I got a low oil light on around 3000-4000 miles later (marks today), I checked the oil and it almost didn’t look like very much oil was in my vehicle, I replaced 3 quarts of oil but it seems like I can’t get a good reading on the dipstick and the light is still on. I have seen zero oil leaks or puddles or drips and don’t smell oil, Could this be something with software? It felt like the car needed oil but I’m unsure, Subaru Grayson maintenance advisor said to try to top it off and then come in if the problem persisted, I am still under powertrain warranty as well. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Coolant! (2011 Impreza 2.5i hatch)
Hi everyone! I have successfully made it 25,000 miles with my Subaru Impreza since purchasing it early last February. As everyone here has recommended, I had the timing belts, water pump and corresponding parts all replaced, and also had the pleasure of blowing my A/C compressor.
One last question, however: what is the best coolant available that I should be using for this car? I’ve noticed it’s been EATING through it these last few weeks with the warm weather starting here in Michigan. Thank you all once again, and safe cruising!
Photo of when I blew my compressor and got trailered home from college 😭

2024.05.14 21:12 scubadoo25 Fitment of Enkei T6R's on a 2009 WRX Hatchback

I have a 2009 Impreza WRX Hatchback that currently has stock wheels on it. I plan on purchasing a set of four Enkei T6R's in gunmetal grey (5x100 bolt pattern, 17x8 size on Yokohama Avid Ascent GT tires). If anyone has any fitment advice/or if any adjustments need to be made/spacers installed, let me know👍🏻 I did my research and I should be purchasing these wheels from Fitment Industries.
PS: I just made another post about what coilovers people recommend for GR body Impreza WRX's/WRX STI's. If you have some knowledge on this topic, I'd appreciate your input.

2024.05.14 20:48 MoriarTyrannosaurus Advice: AC repair, Subaru Impreza wagon sport, automatic

Hi- first time posting here, please let me know if you need more info or details.
I am currently on my third major repair for the AC on my 2013 Subaru Impreza wagon in a year and am hoping someone can help me out. I'm not saying my mechanic is sketchy or trying to trick me but I feel completely out of my depth. I mainly would like to validate my paying so much money or advice if there is a more extreme action that might save me money down the road. I understand ACs are very expensive to repair and fully plan to pay the costs- AC is a luxury but with my commute, it's one I'm not willing to give up at this point. Are there other possible future issues I might run into with what little information I've provided?
May 2023 - I purchased the car in March of 2023, the car had been sitting for a while but was running and operating well. Took the car into get the AC repaired after it stopped working two months after purchase.
Note from mechanic (copied and pasted): Compressor high pressure side fitting leaks. remove fitting and found oring worn out . I replaced seal and performed vacuum system test (passed) I recharge with .450grams and check for more leaks but no others found. Verify fan operation and vents temp output, now is blowing 55-60 degrees.
Cost of the repair: $470
May 2024- The AC stopped working again after working well for a year-
Note from mechanic: Expansion valve is leaking. Replacement will be needed. A/c service required to replace expansion valve High pressure line o-ring is also leaking. Replacement needed. Advised replacing the low pressure o-ring as well since it's likely just as old. This is the initial repair - other leaks may come up, but we need to be able to seal this hole first.
Cost of the repair: $855
Worked for a day but then stopped, took it back and this is the current finding:
Note from mechanic: A/C service was completed last week, with replacement of the expansion valve. Recovered 0lbs from A/C system. Found multiple leaks from lower side of condenser. This is not surprising, as it is very common to have to replace one leak to be able to find any other leaks. We picked the lowest hanging fruit previously, now we are moving up to the next more visible items.
Cost to replace the condenser: $500
Background: I also own a 03 Camry- the AC went out on that car a couple of years ago. We replaced the compressor which failed within two years and was repaired by the mechanic last year under the part warranty. I don't think this is relevant but thought I would include it.
