Buying some of my own finishes?

2023.02.07 14:18 anoldradical Buying some of my own finishes?

I have final drawings in hand and I'm ready to get quotes from GCs on an addition for a master suite. I found some great deals on materials and finishes, so I pulled the trigger, but now I'm wondering if I opened a can of worms.
If it matters, I saved around 7k from retail on 2 bathroom vanities by buying from the Kraftmaid Outlet, bought a freestanding vessel tub from some dark warehouse in Cleveland, and picked up 4 historical windows to match what I have currently. Bought some other stuff like faucets and a couple doors too.
Is this going to be a problem with GCs?
Also, I am learning how this works in real time. If this is an ignorant question, I apologize. I'm just a homeowner who thought I could save a little bit of money by finding some good deals.

2023.02.03 16:38 ZenCindy How do I remove this side panel?

It’s on a Kraftmaid cabinet I bought at the outlet and I’m going to screw three cabinets together to make a bathroom vanity unit so I need this panel gone. I don’t want to structurally damage the cabinet by removing it but it’s going to be screwed into another cabinet.

2019.11.17 03:02 biccy10 Is it worth keeping expensive vanity during bathroom remodel?

So recently bought a house and the master bath looked great and nothing came up on inspection, 1st shower my husband notices the floor is 'spongy' and now 5 months down the line replacing the shower base has turned into replacing whole bathroom. Basically previous owners remodelled 5ish years ago using great materials (granite tiles, jacuzzi tub, etc) but it looks like they did the work themselves (or had a really crappy contractor). Jacuzzi tub has seemingly never been cleaned, no tiles are straight, back of the upper cabinet has been hacked into for wonky outlets, and the worst part is they installed it all on rotten subfloor (floor is dry but can be taken apart by hand, there's evidence of a patched up leak in on garage ceiling). We weren't planning on remodelling this quickly and want to save money as much as possible, I want to keep the nice Kraftmaid vanity (maybe paint it) but my husband says we should just tear everything out and start from scratch. Is it worth it?
TLDR; bathroom needs entirely re-tiling and we're also replacing bath/shower, should we keep nice expensive vanity?

2019.05.16 05:30 Sqwalker1 Cabinet comparisons

Tl;dr: have 4 cabinet options, need opinions. Granite/quartz counters.
The wife and I are trying to compare cabinets. We aren’t going expensive at all since we are redoing 80% of the house, and funds are somewhat limited. Here’s what we have so far in no particular order:
A) GHI cabinets (RTA) from Bargain Outlet. Roughly $91 per Lineal Foot. Soft close drawers. I would have Bargain Outlet assemble which is another $30/cabinet. Seem somewhat solid from what I saw. Cost around $3300 + 330 for assembly.
B) Shenandoah (Lowe’s). Already assembled, soft close drawers, seemed decent mid-tier quality. Good selection. Like $ 136/Lineal Foot, Roughly $4200.
C) KraftMaid (Lowe’s). Already assembled, NO soft close, decent mid-tier quality. Good selection. 131/ Lineal Foot, Roughly $3500.
D) Diamond Now (Lowe’s stock). Already assembled, NO soft close, lower quality, not a great selection. 85/Lineal Foot, Roughly $1700.
Thoughts on these? We want decent cabinets that will last us a long time, so we are thinking of not doing the stock cabinets. We also will be doing granite or quartz counter tops.
Open to other comparisons in that range as well. Thanks everyone!
