[routine help] I'm not exactly sure what my problem is, but I sure do want to fix it.
Hi everyone. I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to skincare but I'd like to learn. I consulted the guide, but the problem is (a) some of the guides are 10+ years old now and lots of comments have been deleted. And (b) I'm not sure where to look because I'm not sure what my problem is. I thought I might have hyperpigmentation on my nose, but it doesn't really fit anything on the guide (picture 1). I know I have big-looking pores and sebaceous filament problems but this is a different issue.
My skin is also red and splotchy, with a bumpy, uneven texture in some places. I have KP on my arms and legs, idk if it can affect your face as well? And of course, despite being almost 30, I still struggle with acne.
I'm not sure what my skin type is. If I shower and don't put any product on, it feels extremely dry immediately, then within an hour or two it's oily/greasy. My skin is both oily and flaky at the same time. I'm guessing maybe my moisture barrier has been damaged?
My skin looks worse IRL than it does in the pictures.
Dark spots on nose
Bumpy, splotchy red skin
I don't really have a "routine" as of right now. Morning or night, this is what I do:
  • Wash face - either CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser or Clearasil Rapid Rescue Deep Treatment.
  • If I have acne spots - treat with Clearasil Rapid Rescue Deep Treatment Pads and/or CVS Advanced Acne Spot Treatment
  • Moisturize - usually use Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer, sometimes use Gold Bond Pure Moisture Daily Body and Face Lotion.
  • No sunscreen - I know, bad bad bad. Sunscreen is #1 on my list right now.
I realize the products I'm using are not great. I cannot stand the feeling of moisturizesunscreen sitting on my skin, being slimy or oily. I have discarded other moisturizing products because of this, including Ponds Dry Skin Cream. That stupid Clean & Clear is the only thing I've tried that feels like it actually gets absorbed. But sometimes it feels like it absorbs and doesn't do anything, so I end up putting on multiple layers of it.
Anyway, if you made it this far, thanks so much. I'd like to throw together both an AM and PM routine with a cleanser (and I'm open to double cleansing), actives, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Its hard to tell what actives would help and which would hurt. Which work together, and which are no-nos to use together.
I'm going to Ulta today and would love any product recommendations!
TYSMIA!

2024.05.16 15:11 DiscountNo1829 Should i tell my dr i illegally took a medication to try it out and it worked?

I have had pcos for years. at 14 my dr told me it was prediabetes and multiple cysts on my ovaries and put me on birthcontrol without actually diagnosing it as pcos. Painful cysts my whole life and im 30 now. My neck armpits and bikini area have always been like 10 shades darker than my skin tone. Its bad. Pooched belly for years, thick hair growing on my chin area I had trouble getting pregnant with my 2nd. MY face and hands have recently swelled up big time and im just tired of it all. I got routine bloodowkr at my primary and my glucose levels were fine. I shouldn't have to deal with these things.
My husband is on zepbound and he had an extra starting dose pen a week ago he let me have it to see how it would make me feel. (no moral judgement please for giving me one of his pens he was upped a dose anyway)
My swelling immediately went away. Nothing else but im sure those other things would take time to go away. I felt normal for the first time in years.
Anyways i have been researching and i want to ask my dr for metformin. Ive heard its the first line treatment for pcos. However...besides the physical symptoms she can clearly see if i get bloodwork done its going to show normal levels of whatever shes looking for because i have the zepbound still in my system.
Should i be honest and tell her i self medicated to try it out and felt so much better?. Im not looking for a zepbound RX i want metformin because i know it will help.
My appt is next week with my OBGYN

2024.05.16 13:05 masterbetty92 Ultrasound Question

Is this worth following up on? I recently had an IUD placed to help with heavy bleeding. Last period, I almost had to go to the ER because I was on the verge of passing out from the amount of blood I was losing. Doctor’s office messed up my ultrasound and ended up doing it a month after the IUD was placed instead of before. They found multiple follicles and cysts, and the doctor said maybe PCOS but with the amount of pain I’ve been having maybe endometriosis. I’ve had really sharp pain in my lower abdomen, back and pelvis for the last few years during and after sex, during ovulation, and sometimes just randomly. I was diagnosed with IBS and GERD after colonoscopy and endoscopy came back clear. She did say both my ovaries are around 14 cm when they should be under 10 and my uterus is tilted. She doesn’t seem concerned since the cysts are so small. I would not be concerned except during the ultrasound I was in tears because it was so painful. It was like a lightbulb went off and I finally realized what was causing all my pain. She seems to want to wait and see if the IUD will help but she told me during my appointment that it’s not going to help with cysts at all. She also said I could try hormonal treatment but the whole reason I got the IUD was because of adverse reactions to hormonal birth control previously. I’m just feeling a little lost and I’m not sure if I should just let it go and wait it out and see what happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.16 11:02 sb1914 STI anxiety

Long story short - developed an itch 48 hours after intercourse. Also came on my period. The sex was very dry.
Tested negative on full STI panel 2 weeks after contact. Also completed 1 week of doxycycline as a precaution. Developed some light white watery discharge which cleared after fluconazole.
Itch has gone - I did take a second fluconazole after finishing the antibiotics.
Would my tests be considered accurate now since I waited until the 2 week window period for bacterial infections (I know others take longer) or should I test for chlamydia/gonorrhea again in a few weeks? I probably will for peace of mind.
Could the doxycycline give a false negative? I tested the day after completing the course of treatment.
NOTE - I started to experience pelvic pain intermittently (still have it now) after completing antibiotics but no obvious discharge or other UTI symptoms. I do have PCOS so could be cyst pain just unfortunate timing.
Advice appreciated TIA x

2024.05.16 10:36 No-Customer-9172 What conditions can be treated by a Laparoscopic Surgeon?

Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, can be used to treat a variety of conditions across different medical specialties. Some common conditions that can be treated by a laparoscopic surgeon include:
  1. Gallbladder diseases, such as gallstones or inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis).
  2. Appendicitis, where the appendix becomes inflamed and requires removal.
  3. Hernias, including inguinal, umbilical, and hiatal hernias.
  4. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), often treated with laparoscopic fundoplication.
  5. Endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
  6. Ovarian cysts or tumors.
  7. Uterine fibroids, noncancerous growths in the uterus.
  8. Ectopic pregnancies, where the embryo implants outside the uterus.
  9. Colon conditions such as diverticulitis or colorectal cancer.
  10. Kidney conditions, including kidney stones or tumors.
  11. Pancreatic conditions, such as pancreatitis or pancreatic cysts.
  12. Obesity, through procedures like laparoscopic gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.
  13. Liver conditions, such as cysts or tumors.
  14. Splenic conditions, such as splenomegaly (enlarged spleen) or splenic cysts.
These are just some examples, and the range of conditions that can be treated with laparoscopic surgery continues to expand as technology advances and surgeons gain more experience with minimally invasive techniques. Always consult with a medical professional for specific information and advice regarding your condition and treatment options.

2024.05.16 09:33 megE24 Post birth control struggles: need advice!!

Apologies in advance for the long post:
After being on birth control for 13 years, I decided to stop due to some negative side effects I started to have. I had 2 periods afterwards that were "on time" with the "cycle" I was having while on HBC. After that, my periods have been few and far between (I went 12 wks without having a period). My gyno wanted to do a pelvic ultrasound, to see if there were any abnormalities with my uterine lining. We found 2 things: a dermoid cyst on the left ovary that needs to be removed, and the right ovary was covered in cysts; she suspected PCOS and wanted me to get lab work. I also saw an endocrinologist to see if there was additional labs that needed to be drawn. My results indicate I have PCOS (high testosterone and DHEA-S.. cortisol & insulin levels were normal). The endocrinologist says my treatment options include: a carb controlled diet w/ a focus on protein intake and fiber (I need more info on this), metformin, spironolactone, and/or birth control. I definitely don't want to get back on birth control unless absolutely necessary. I've taken Spiro before for acne and had pretty significant vertigo with it on higher doses. I've done some research and keep seeing supplements such as Inositol and Berberine popping up. I think I'd rather try supplementation and diet changes prior to going on medication.
Symptoms I've been having: increased abdominal weight, acne, (maybe) increased hair growth on my chin and belly?, and obviously the irregular periods.
Anyone have any advice?? I am feeling defeated with this diagnosis and I'm not sure where to go from here.

2024.05.16 07:12 drchitra What are the benefits of choosing a laparoscopic gynecologist for gynecological procedures?

Selecting a laparoscopic gynecologist can have a number of advantages for gynecological procedures:
1. Minimally Invasive : Compared to open surgery, laparoscopic techniques require fewer incisions. This causes the body to experience less trauma, less pain, and faster healing periods.
2. Less Time Spent in the Hospital: Less time spent in the hospital and a quicker return to normal activities are two benefits of laparoscopic surgeries for patients. Some patients may even be treated as outpatients.
4. Quicker Recuperation: Compared to open surgeries, laparoscopic procedures frequently result in quicker recovery times and allow patients to resume their regular activities sooner.
5. Less Pain : Compared to open surgeries, laparoscopic procedures are associated with less postoperative pain, which improves patient comfort during the healing phase.
6. Decreased Complication Risk : Compared to open surgeries, laparoscopic procedures typically have lower rates of complications including infection and blood loss, making them safer choices for many patients.
7. Improved Visualization : During laparoscopic procedures, surgeons can see the surgical site more clearly and precisely thanks to magnified, high-definition images.
8. Adaptability : Numerous gynecological treatments, such as hysterectomy, ovarian cyst removal, endometriosis treatment, and tubal ligation, can be performed using laparoscopic techniques.
9. Improving Results : Research indicates that as compared to open surgeries, laparoscopic gynecological procedures can yield comparable or even better results, such as reduced rates of complications and quicker recovery periods.
All things considered, individuals seeking gynecological care might benefit greatly from selecting a laparoscopic gynecologist, including less pain, quicker recovery, and better surgical results.

2024.05.16 06:05 53797361646D696E Synovial cyst

Has anyone here he a synovial cyst in their lumbar spine? If so, what was your pain pattern? What was your treatment?
Im waiting MRI results but essentially I have leg and foot pain/tingling that lets up when I sit down.
2 x previous MRI show facet arthritis at l4/5 with a disc bulge to the left with disc osteophytes narrowing the left recess and foramin but not clearly compromising the nerve, and a prior herniation at l5/s1 with mild facet arthritis.
Had facet injections last year which worked wonders and took my lower back pain away.
6 months after that last MRI and facet injection, I have calf pain and tightness and foot tingling, which I would describe as neurogenic claudication as it goes away when I sit. Any literature I had read on this said spinal stenosis mainly 60 years and older. Until today when I read about synovial cysts causing stenosis and neurogenic claudication.
I’m a mid 30s active male with a young family so activity modification to restrict anything upright is ridiculous.
I’m wondering given the history of some spinal degeneration with facet arthritis, if a synovial cyst could be to blame here since the symptoms came on a week or 2 after a mass pain flare up that I suspect could have been a facet sprain.

2024.05.16 00:53 dirtysalmon69 Has anyone gotten Botox injected directly into the nerve, instead of their muscles?

I do not get very good results from nerve blocks. It takes about a week or so to experience the relief. But as soon as that relief wears off (after about 7-10 days) my skin reacts horribly. Terrible facial flushing, big painful acne cysts all over my face (around pressure points notably), and skin gets dry and flaky. And it's like this for MONTHS after the fact. My insurance doesn't even cover this so I really don't think it's worth my time/money/appearance.
I read a study where people with ON got Botox injected directly into the occipital nerves and got great results. Outside of the medical literature I haven't heard of people getting this treatment though and neither has my pain management doctor. Has anyone here done this, and can share their experience?

2024.05.15 17:42 Nocturnal_Knitter My fussy acne-prone skin loves this routine! [Acne]

I'm 44 F going through some skin changes (dryness and increased breakouts incl. cystic). I had struggled with acne and oily skin since I was a teen. I was using Differin for a few months recently. At first it was great, my skin never looked better. But after a couple months my skin reacted very badly to all of the skincare I was using on top of the Differin (scrubs, etc - I know, BAD). Also I believe the Differin was causing my skin to be thinner and was actually destroying my nails! I tested this by wearing gloves to apply it (and using less often), and sure enough my nails grew back and my fingertips healed. Also my lips oddly looked thinner and less plump, the skin on my eyelids was extremely dry, and my eyebrows were thinning while using Differin despite me avoiding those areas and using eye cream/lip balm. All of this horrified me so I never went back to using it. Since quitting, all of these areas have healed.
I went through a period of letting my skin heal - using minimal gentle products and no actives. At first my skin looked incredible, clear, plump, and moisturized. Then my pores started to get congested, especially on my nose. Then bad breakouts started happening. And then I went to youtube and came here looking for answers and found a lot of interesting advice. I experimented with gentle cleansers, Korean brands, etc. After lots of trial and error, here is the routine that finally is working for me.
Disclaimer: I know everyone's skin is different and tolerates different things. Mine happens to love a particular brand which seems to get a lot of criticism here - Mario Badescu. I've been a long time fan, and regret straying from them. I know they are scented, and that may cause irritation for some, but my skin loves their formulas.
AM
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser
- Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
- Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum
- Mario Badescu Collagen Moisturizer SPF 15 (the BEST daytime moisturizer I've found, and preps skin for makeup really well)
PM
- Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser (to remove makeup)
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser
- Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
- Curology custom treatment cream (Tretinoin 0.01%, Clindamycin phosphate 1%, Azelaic acid 4%) - starting with a gentle/low dose of Tretinoin
- La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Night Moisturizer
Once a week/as needed:
- In the morning I cleanse first with La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, and then Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant OR
- Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
- In the evening I do a mask with Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask
THANK YOU to this community for suggesting Curology. I did not want to go to a dermatologist again (they've been hit or miss for me). It's definitely working. But to note, I was previously using some Korean skincare products along with Curology during the first month that were NOT helping. Once I cut those out and started this routine, skin completely cleared up.
Products that I believe were breaking me out/not working (I subbed all of these with the MB products):
- SKIN1004 Centella Toning Toner
- GOODAL Green Tangerine Vitamin C Serum
- La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer SPF 30
- MISSHA Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule 5X (Still on the fence about this one. It feels nice and I might try incorporating it again at some point, but for now there's no need.)
Product that was actually working before replacing with Curology:
- StriVectin Advanced Retinol Nightly Renewal Moisturizer (you can find this discounted online)
Personal tips:
- Hormonal birth control can help minimize acne.
- Quit consuming dairy.
- Use a dedicated towel to dry your face, and change it at least once a week.
- Don't touch your face throughout the day. For me, wearing makeup actually helps this because I don't want to mess up my makeup. :)
- Don't lean your chin/jaw on your hand if you're sitting at a desk. A good dermatologist clued me in on this one, and it's definitely a bad habit for me which can cause cysts along the jawline. Any kind of pressure combined with germs can cause breakouts.
- My skin doesn't shed on its own very well, and pores get congested easily. Cleaning with a gentle SA cleanser twice a day is KEY for me. Once daily was not enough. LRP Effaclar was life-changing for me after years of using Neutrogena Acne Wash (recommended by a derm) which stripped my skin.
Sorry this is so lengthy. Hope this helps someone!

2024.05.15 15:33 night_sparrow_ What are the different types of asthma?

What are the different types of asthma?
I've been struggling with shortness of breath, dry coughing, and a host of other symptoms for the past 10 to 15 years. Back then I was in my late 20s, never smoked, and underweight.
I had my first PFT done 10 years ago, see image. I could be interpreting it wrong but it says I have severe obstruction. I'm not sure how accurate this test is. I also had a clear chest X-ray and when they read my O2 on my finger it is usually 98%. My CT scan was also good, except it said I have a nasal mucus cyst or polyp. Anyway, the pulmonologist said I may have reactive airway syndrome. I took this to mean asthma. I was put on Advair 250/50 mcg and Albuterol 90 mcg hfa for 2 weeks and had no relief. Along with nasal spray and singular.
The pulmonologist then put me on budesonide 0.25 mg nebulizer and proair 90 mcg hfa for 2 weeks and I saw no relief.
The last thing they tried was trellogy for 2 weeks and I got no relief.
So I have been suffering all these years with no medication. I had to quit my job a few years ago because I was having such a hard time breathing. The resting really helped me so I went back to work the following year. Then my symptoms started right up which prompted me back to the pulmonologist who started down the same path as before. I believe my PFT was normal or close to it this time.
This prompted me to reach out to a respiratory therapist friend and ask if there were different classes of asthma medication and he said there were 3, smooth muscle, inflammatory, and mucus suppression. He also told me the FeNO test is helpful in looking for inflammation in asthmatics.
So are there different types of asthma? If so, what is the best way to test for each of them?
I should also mention that my Anti-SSA 52kb is positive (found on the interstitial lung disease and myositis panels) and I know I carry the delf508 variant for CF. I need to get further testing there. I'm not sure if those are a factor in how I present and respond to treatment.
Any insight into how I could better advocate for myself would be helpful.

2024.05.15 14:02 drchitra What are the most common types of gynecologist surgeries?

Gynecologists perform various surgical procedures to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of gynecological conditions. Some of the most common types of gynecological surgeries include:
1. Hysterectomy : This surgical procedure involves the removal of the uterus. It may be performed for various reasons including uterine fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, or certain types of cancer.
2. Oophorectomy : An oophorectomy is the surgical removal of one or both ovaries. It may be performed as part of a hysterectomy or as a standalone procedure to treat conditions such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, or ovarian cancer.
3. Salpingectomy : This surgical procedure involves the removal of one or both fallopian tubes. It may be performed to treat conditions such as ectopic pregnancy, tubal ligation for permanent contraception, or to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
4. Myomectomy : A myomectomy is the surgical removal of uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus. It is often performed for women who wish to retain their fertility or who prefer not to undergo a hysterectomy.
5. Endometrial Ablation : Endometrial ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the destruction or removal of the endometrial lining of the uterus. It is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women who do not plan to have children in the future.
6. Cervical Conization : Also known as a cone biopsy, cervical conization involves the removal of a cone-shaped piece of tissue from the cervix. It may be performed to diagnose or treat cervical dysplasia or cervical cancer.
7. Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery : Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic organs, such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum, bulge into the vaginal canal due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. Surgical procedures such as pelvic reconstructive surgery or vaginal mesh placement may be performed to repair the pelvic floor and support the organs.
8. Laparoscopic Surgery : Laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery involves the use of small incisions and specialized instruments to perform surgical procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, or treatment of endometriosis.
9. Tubal Ligation : Also known as "tying the tubes," tubal ligation is a surgical procedure for permanent contraception in women. It involves blocking, sealing, or cutting the fallopian tubes to prevent eggs from traveling from the ovaries to the uterus.
These are just a few examples of the many gynecological surgeries that may be performed by gynecologists to address various reproductive health issues. The specific type of surgery recommended will depend on the individual's condition, medical history, and treatment goals.

2024.05.15 06:43 No-Customer-9172 PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome): Symptoms & Treatment

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome): Symptoms & Treatment
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects people with ovaries during their reproductive years. It's characterized by a combination of symptoms, including irregular periods, excess androgen levels, and polycystic ovaries.
Symptoms:
  1. Irregular periods: PCOS can cause infrequent, irregular, or prolonged menstrual cycles. Some individuals may experience heavy bleeding during menstruation.
  2. Excess androgen: Elevated levels of androgen hormones, such as testosterone, can lead to symptoms like acne, excess facial and body hair (hirsutism), and male-pattern baldness.
  3. Polycystic ovaries: The ovaries may become enlarged and contain numerous small fluid-filled sacs (follicles) which surround the eggs. Despite the name, not all individuals with PCOS have cysts.
  4. Weight gain: Many individuals with PCOS experience weight gain or have difficulty losing weight. This can exacerbate other symptoms and increase the risk of complications like diabetes and heart disease.
  5. Skin problems: In addition to acne, PCOS can cause skin tags, darkening of the skin (acanthosis nigricans), and patches of thickened, velvety skin (acrochordons).
  6. Infertility: PCOS is a common cause of infertility due to irregular ovulation or failure to ovulate.
Treatment:
  1. Lifestyle changes: Adopting a healthy lifestyle can help manage PCOS symptoms and reduce the risk of complications. This includes maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, and managing stress levels.
  2. Medications:
  • Birth control pills: Oral contraceptives can help regulate menstrual cycles and reduce androgen levels, improving symptoms like acne and hirsutism.
  • Anti-androgen medications: Spironolactone or finasteride may be prescribed to reduce excess hair growth and acne.
  • Metformin: This medication is commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes but can also help improve insulin resistance and regulate menstrual cycles in individuals with PCOS.
  • Fertility medications: If fertility is a concern, medications such as clomiphene or letrozole may be prescribed to induce ovulation.
  1. Surgery: In some cases, surgery may be recommended to remove ovarian cysts or to perform ovarian drilling to stimulate ovulation.
  2. Psychological support: Living with PCOS can be challenging, so seeking support from healthcare providers, support groups, or therapists can be beneficial in managing the emotional impact of the condition.
It's important for individuals with PCOS to work closely with their healthcare providers to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their specific symptoms and needs. Early diagnosis and intervention can help prevent long-term complications and improve overall quality of life.

Throwaway for obvious reasons.
My (17F) stepmother "Jane" is a wonderful, wonderful woman. She and my father got married when I was 4, and she's been a rock in my life ever since. My mother was always my primary caregiver, but up until that point her relationship with my father was acrimonious and I basically never saw him. Jane was the reason they developed a stable co-parenting relationship, she encouraged everyone having a good relationship with each other and was always there to support me and my mom when things got rough.
Jane was always a really hard worker. When she met my dad, he was living out of a hotel and my mother was doing everything in her power to keep me away from him because she was petty and angry that their relationship didn't work out. Meanwhile Jane had a great job, a nice house, helped my dad get back on his feet, negotiated a visitation schedule with my mom (who hated her for a long time), and made sure my dad sent us money every week because neither one of them could afford an attorney to negotiate child support payments. Jane had no reason to do any of these things but as I got older she made it clear that she loved me as much as she loved my (half) brothers who were born a few years later. I even have my own room in her house because at the time we lived with my grandparents / various boyfriends of my mom and Jane felt that I needed a more stable environment than that. She's like the opposite of the evil stepmom.
When I was 15, Jane won a big lawsuit against an airline company and got awarded upwards of a million dollars. She used the money to build sizable trust funds for me and my brothers so that we would be taken care of later in life. Despite having a lot more money she still wanted to live a fairly modest life, so she paid off the house she has and has been living there ever since with my dad. Sure she bought a new car and they went on a few nice vacations but she didn't blow all her money on stupid things, which I respected.
About a year ago, things started getting really weird. Whenever I saw Jane she seemed to look sicker and sicker, but no one would tell me or my brothers why even though I know they knew. All we knew is that she was at the hospital a lot. Around the same time, my mom has been coming around my dad a lot more and acting really strange, basically like she was trying to romance him. Whenever Jane was in the hospital my mother would insist on spending the night at their house and playing mom to my brothers, which was so weird to me because she never liked them or Jane. She'd be the perfect little housewife and my mom is NOT like that at all. It was super fake.
Worst of all, my dad started falling for it. I'm not stupid - I'm pretty sure they were sleeping together. I tried to shield my brothers from it but they're not dumb either. I tried talking to my dad too but he insisted it wasn't like that.
Then a few weeks ago, my mom started talking about all the places she'd like to visit, how she wanted a new car and was looking to invest... which is weird because my mom has been a bartender her whole life and has lived paycheck to paycheck since before I was born. She was acting like she was about to get a lot of money, which started to make me really suspicious. Between Jane being sick and my mom acting all nouveau riche, I had a lot of questions.
Finally I decided to visit Jane in the hospital and ask her about my trust fund. I found out that if anything happened to her, that my dad would inherit all the money including full control of the trusts for me and my brothers. She asked me why I was so interested in the trust fund so I told her what's going on with my parents and how my mom has been acting with my dad. I didn't want to but after everything she did for me, she deserved the truth. It really hurt me to break her heart like that, especially once I found out that she was basically in hospice at this point because of irreversible kidney failure. She's only got a few more months. We both cried so much.
Then, two days ago everything came to a head. My mom stormed in furious and started arguing with my dad. Apparently Jane met with her lawyer and changed the trust so that my dad would get nothing and all of the trusts would be controlled by my step-aunt. She demanded to know how Jane found out about their relationship and I came out and told them that I told Jane everything. I told them that if they wanted to play stupid games they would win stupid prizes and that I wasn't going to let them screw Jane over after all the help she gave my family when she didn't have to.
My mom slapped me and my dad just looked so defeated. Then my mom told my dad that she didn't really love him, that she was just pretending to so he would marry her and she could get all of the money. The worst part about it is that my brothers witnessed the whole thing and now on top of their mom dying they have to deal with a cheating dad and his vindictive ex. Our whole family is in ruins and I feel like it's my fault even though I know it's not.
Yesterday I visited Jane again and told her about the fallout. She apologized and said that she had to dissolve my trust fund to make sure my mother didn't get a hold of the money, but that as "her oldest" I will inherit the house/property after she is gone and that's worth more than the other two trust funds combined. My father won't get anything because she's going to divorce him before she dies, and honestly I'm happy for her. She made me promise to take care of my brothers and told me that once I turn 18 this summer I can kick my dad out of the house if I want to. And I FULLY plan to do that btw.
I haven't talked to my dad since and I can't even look at my mom. I can't believe they would conspire to do this to Jane after all this time. Just proof that they deserve each other and I'm embarrassed that they're my parents. Once I turn 18 I'm going to cut my dad out as much as I can and cut my mom out completely. I hope she rots. Meanwhile I'm going to try and be at the hospital as much as I can until Jane passes away.
Anyways. I just needed to vent. I'm really messed up about the whole thing and I feel super betrayed, although I can't even begin to imagine how Jane feels. I'm gonna be so f-ed up when she dies. I can't even think about that right now. But at least she's not surrounded by people who just want to bring her down.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: Some people are asking a lot of the same stuff so I'll just clarify here --
My brothers - My plan is to use some of the estate money fight for guardianship for my twin brothers so that they can live in the house while I kick my dad out. If I can't get guardianship then I will have to let my dad stay in the house. However once I turn 18 I will technically be an adult so even if my dad leaves I'm still legally able to be responsible for them. The only thing I won't be able to do is stop him from taking them if he leaves. But they will be 18 in six years so even if they do have to leave they will always be able to come back whenever they want. In a perfect world my dad would just leave and let my brothers stay with me which I'm sure my bio-mom would be very supportive of because right now she hates all of us and I doubt that will change anytime soon.
The trust - from what I understand, my brothers will inherit 1/3 each of the estate and the remaining 1/3 will be used to keep the house running until they turn 18. After that it will be up to me if I want to keep the house or sell it. At that point my brothers will still have money left in the trust so they can branch out or do whatever they want, otherwise I will not sell the house and just pass it on to them or keep it and maintain it myself and they can just stay with me as long as they need to.
(Edit to the edit) So I just spoke to Jane and she told me that the reason she dissolved the trust is because originally it was going to be split 3x between us kids and my dad would inherit the house. She dissolved my 3rd and switched it over to make it to take care of the house maintenance, and instead put the house in my name so my dad wouldn't get it. Plus by doing that at least financially I would be getting a much bigger share (the house is worth about 1.5x the amount of my brothers trusts) I just wouldn't be able to do anything with it until my brothers are 18, which I'm totally cool with. Sorry if I don't have a better answer but I'm just trying to translate what she told me.
My parents - The big fight happened on Sunday and I haven't spoken to either of my parents since, I think they're both at my mom's place right now but that's fine with us because we're all still mad at them so they can stay gone for all we care. I know technically that's not legal to just leave us alone but I've been taking care of my brothers for over a year I can handle a few days while he gets his shit together. Screw both of them.
Hope that clears some stuff up.
TLDR; My bio parents tried to screw my terminally ill stepmother out of trust fund money, but she caught on and now no one on my side of the family gets anything.
Additional Information from OOP on her parents, stepmom’s health, trust funds
OOP: (Why isn't Jane on dialysis) - I don't remember the exact details but Jane has a genetic condition where she gets cysts on her kidney. She already had a transplant a few years ago but now she developed problems with her arteries or something in her legs so she doesn't qualify for dialysis. She could get another transplant but she doesn't want to because the last time was so traumatic (rejections, etc). So she decided to just let herself go onto maintenance medications to prolong her death until she gets her affairs in order. She has a few other health problems that make the typical treatments really dangerous and according to her she'd rather die surrounded by loved ones than on an operating table.
(Dissolving the trust fund) - Jane told me she didn't technically have to do it, but she didn't trust my bio parents not to do something shady and get a hold of the money before I turn 18. Even if my aunt controlled the fund my dad would still be able to collect if something happened to Jane before I turn 18. Her lawyer suggested it's better safe than sorry and I agreed that it was the best option. I'm not an expert tho I don't know the details.
(How my mom knew) - Like I said before I'm pretty sure Jane told my dad, who then told my mom and that's how the argument started. I can't think of any other way and I didn't really care enough to ask.
(Jane's thoughts on my mom) - she didn't know my mom was doing all of that. My mom has her own place and would only come over whenever Jane was in the hospital for a few days at a time. I've been living with my dad for a little over a year so he probably told Jane that my mom was there to spend time with me, if he told her at all. Besides she didn't "move in" until a few months ago, which I guess is when they started hatching their plan. Jane never outright banned my mom from visiting so there really wasn't anything she could do.
Hope that helps.
Edit for the last part: The remainder of the money belonging to the estate that hasn't been put into trusts for my brothers is going to be used to maintain the house (utilities, taxes, etc) until my brothers are 18 and then I can either choose to sell the house or keep it and maintain it myself if I'm able to. I plan to go to school in that time and get a better job with the goal of keeping the house, but if I can't then I have the option to sell it. Not that I will but that's how it was explained to me.
OOP on her stepmom and their relationship, provides thoughts on her bio mom
OOP: Honestly it's because she's more of a "real" mom than my actual mom.
My bio mom is kind of ambiguous about my existence but Jane was always extra involved, sending me to sports teams and paying for dance classes and just showing interest in my hobbies as I got older. Plus as the only girl I think we bonded on a level she can't with my brothers so she always made sure to let me know I was on equal terms with them. When I was younger we would watch movies and have girl time where it was just us 1:1 and those are some of my best memories with her.
Jane is also really mature and someone I wanna be like when I get older whereas it feels like my mom is a teenager in an adult's body. She was constantly picking fights with my dad about dumb things and Jane was always there to smooth things over and keep my best interest at heart over her own feelings. I know my mom made Jane's life really difficult for a long time but Jane never complained or said anything to me about it whereas my mom CONSTANTLY complained about Jane. As I got older I just always felt more at peace when I was around Jane than when I was around my mom.
If you want your step kids to love you just be there for them and treat them like your own. Ignore whatever drama you have with your husbands ex and just love your kids. Trust me if you really care about them they will know.

mattdvs1979: My only advice is make sure you work with a lawyer once she passes so you get your inheritance and your parents can’t try to intervene, and then you keep your promise to use that money for you and your brothers’ welfare.
OOP: Oh absolutely, Jane already gave me the lawyer's info and between him and my step-aunt I'm sure I will be able to do what I need to do for them. I don't even care about the money, most people don't have trust funds and turn out just fine. I'm actually more glad that she gave me the house because you can be damn sure it's going to be a safe space for my brothers whether I end up getting custody of them or not. My brothers are basically Jane's legacy so my goal is to give them the life and guidance that I got from her, and that they won't get because she'll be gone.
OOP on the relationship between her father and her stepmom before they got exposed
OOP: Honestly it hurts a lot because before Jane got sick they seemed to have the perfect relationship. Until my birthgiver (I like that) came in and fucked everything up with her toxic personality. Honestly in a perfect world my mom will end up broke and alone and in a shitty nursing home with bed sores. And when she calls me and begs me for a relationship (because she needs the attention) it'll feel so good to hang up on her over and over again.
OOP on Jane (stepmom)’s health and if Jane is mentally okay on the whole situation
OOP: I think so. Apparently it's a genetic disease so she always knew she was going to get sick she just didn't know when so mentally I think she was prepared for it. I just hope that she can find peace knowing the truth and knowing that I'll be there to make sure her sons don't grow up all fucked up.
OOP on her brothers getting therapy to deal with their mom/step-mom’s health and her imminent death
OOP: Yeah. I've already sat them down and talked to them about what's going on, they seem to understand but they're understandably really sad about the whole thing. I told them that when they go to school they should ask about a grief counselor and I'm trying to get their health insurance info from Jane so I can find them a therapist for kids. As much as all of this sucks I think it's brought the three of us a lot closer together.
Thanks a lot. I really love my brothers and I know it's my job to take care of them properly now that they won't have a mom around. Jane did so much to raise me and my brothers won't have the opportunity so it's only right that I help them.
Since finding all of this out my plan has always been to have my brothers live with me, I'm already in charge of taking care of them and the house for the most part the only thing my dad does is help pay the bills. Unfortunately I won't be able to kick my dad out as long as he's their legal guardian which is why I'm trying to find some other solution to that. But if/when that gets resolved he can live under a bridge for all I care.

Update: May 8, 2024 (3 months later)
Please check my profile for my previous post. :)
Hi guys it’s me again, a lot of you asked me for an update on my situation with Jane and my family so I’ve come back with a few things that have happened since I initially posted. I will try to organize this in a way that addresses the major points of last time.
Jane is still alive and doing surprisingly well considering the circumstances. She’s always been a fighter and although her disease has been progressing she’s keeping a positive attitude with everything that is going on. She says she’s grateful that she was able to see everyone’s true colors before she passed so she could go into the next life knowing the truth. We have become so unbelievably close in the past few months and it’s getting harder and harder to know that she’s getting close to the end. She doesn’t ever talk about it though and I know it’s because she doesn’t want to hurt me but we both know the situation so we’re just making the best of our time. I'm also not being completely transparent about all of the drama at home but tbh I don't think she needs to hear all of that.
We did end up having that surprise celebration of life that I planned, a lot more people showed up than I thought but they all got an airbnb near the hospital where Jane is and we were able to take her out and spend some time at the lake near the facility. It was super lowkey which I know Jane preferred and I was even able to get her old college friend to come after I found him on Linkedin lol. We had food and there was music and we played games and it was overall a really great time, except Jane started crying at the end but she promised me it was just because she was grateful.
My brothers are also doing okay, my aunt (Jane's sister) is currently paying for them to go to therapy and they've become a lot more open about talking about the situation. They just turned 13 but a lot of the time it feels like I'm talking to actual adults lol. They've become really independent lately (in a good way) and aside from me driving them places I don't really have to do much for them anymore. Their grades aren't super great but they're not failing and considering the circumstances it could be a lot worse. They still hang out with friends and I'm keeping an eye out for like depression symptoms and stuff.
The situation with my mom is as funny as it is embarrassing tbh. She spent a few weeks ignoring us and then she tried to crawl back into my life basically begging me to let her move in because her lease is about to expire and she has nowhere to go. That convo went about as well as you'd think and she ended up calling me an ungrateful b**** and that I couldn't just ignore her because she's my mom. I told her to get out of the house before I call the cops and to go back to my dad (who at that point was only coming home every few days to "check on us" and grab some clothes.)
After that she tried coming by a few times and when I wouldn't open the door she would lose her mind and start yelling through the neighborhood. After three instances of this I finally called the cops but because I'm 17 they told me there's a possibility that I would have to go home with her since technically I'm a minor and need to be with the custodial parent. I told them no way because I was the only one watching my brothers atm. That led to a whole thing where after a few hours my dad basically showed up and I was allowed to stay there because there was finally an adult present and I'd basically lived there for over a year.
After that the cops firmly told my mom that if she keeps showing up and causing drama (my neighbors confirmed that she'd been there a few times screaming) that they would arrest her for trespassing since technically it was Jane's house and not hers. She left and hasn't tried coming to the house anymore but for a while she would call me constantly telling me I owed her and all kinds of stuff. She's now blocked on everything and anything she needs to say to me gets filtered through my dad.
As for my dad... well, since he's basically required to be here for another 2 months until I turn 18 we've basically just avoided each other. It's not too bad though because I've been heavily relying on guilting him for everything to get my way. For example he was going to contest the divorce but I threatened to kick him out when I turn 18 if he does that so he just signed all the paperwork for a "quickie divorce" and is basically doing whatever Jane tells him to do. I don't openly disrespect him or anything (he's still my dad) but I've made it clear that I have no intentions on doing anything he says ever again and he doesn't fight me on it. Most of the time he's just in his room and sometimes he'll go back to my mom's but only for a day or two before they argue and she kicks him out again lol. I haven't decided whether or not I'll kick him out yet and we haven't talked about it either so I'm kind of playing it by ear.
As for me, I'm handling everything as good as I can. I found a new job where I make a little more money so I've been focusing on saving as much as I can and just being there for my brothers. Between working and school and visiting Jane I've been so busy I haven't really had time to really stop and think about everything, but I know it'll come. One of my friends has really stepped up and helped me manage everything and I'm super grateful to him for being there for me and my brothers so we'll see how that goes.
Anyways I wish I had something more exciting to share but that's what's happened since my last post :) Thanks again for all the support on my last post.

OOP on the possibility of her stepmom being poisoned from her parents to get Jane’s money
OOP: Hi there,
A few people have mentioned this and yes we are absolutely certain she is not being poisoned, it’s a genetic disease causing her kidney failure and we have known about it for a long time but she shielded us from the worst of it hence why her “sudden” decline in health was such a shock to us, we thought she had more time.
My brothers have also been screened for this disease and thankfully neither of them have it.
Edit to add: I’m turning 18 in a few weeks so I don’t need to get emancipated and my dad has already agreed that my brothers will stay in the house with me because they have nowhere else to go.
OOP on Jane making video clips for her brothers
OOP: Yes actually a few people suggested this on my last post and we have been doing this for a few weeks now. Jane has a little digital recorder that she’s been putting her thoughts down on and she’s also written a few letters to us for major milestones. My brothers do not know about this as we want to surprise them but that said they have been coming to the hospital more now that they’re in therapy and able to deal with it. I know they do not want to have any regrets even though it’s a difficult situation.
OOP on her father after being exposed and her bio mom trying to manipulate him
OOP: I do think he’s remorseful, he hasn’t said it but the way he’s acting is telling me that, he’s being really passive when normally he gets a little belligerent if he really feels like he didn’t do anything wrong. Also I know I have every reason to kick him out but he’s still my dad even tho what he did to Jane was terrible. He’s just kind of a weak minded person and my bio mom really manipulated the crap out of him and continues to manipulate him but I can tell he’s getting tired of her BS because he’s spending less time with her.
He didn’t know she was showing up at the house and when he found out he was super pissed at her, they’ve been fighting nonstop and I can tell he’s not as much under her spell anymore because he’s at home more but who knows.

2024.05.15 04:50 Creative_Job_4370 few questions

so I just have a few questions for some people if it’s possible you can relate please chime in, so my pathology came back inclusive, teratoma vs a benign type of ovarian cyst tumor? I can’t find almost anything on it tbh, only a few cases.
But the only reason it was inconclusive is because it tested negative for GCINS which makes me think… is it burnt out? The doc thinks i’m more on the benign side now but I don’t want to assume so quickly. i’ve been misdiagnosed before because a doc likes to throw around words, i’m not too symptomatic just have pains here and there that drive me nuts but nothing crazy I still feel very normal.
My bloods 100% normal, my tumor was kinda small (1.2cm) no LVI no signs of spread in testis only thing now is my CT scan which is gonna get done soon with my doctor visit next week. Just very confused because I have been in a whirlwind of emotions for the past month. it’s hard to get clarity when docs still don’t even know what’s my condition. feel free to chime in if you can, I hope all is improving/going well with your treatments!

2024.05.15 02:35 Extension_Lemon9062 Diagnosis

Is there a reason why Drs don’t want to give you a formal diagnosis? I have struggled with very heavy, painful and irregular periods since I started having periods. I have tried birth control but I always bleed nonstop with it and end up going off of it within a year. I have done two ultrasounds and one showed a complex cyst. My latest NP said I possibly have endo but she didn’t want to recommend doing the surgery to confirm. I just came home from the ED this week because the pain was so bad (they couldn’t find anything wrong) and then my period started two days later so I can’t help but think they are related. I am now scheduled to see a GI dr again on Friday. I would like confirmation so I can know what causes the pain but it’s been so hard to find anyone who recommends any further treatment or tests beyond birth control.

Understanding Men’s Skin Types: How It Works and What You Need to Know
Discover your skin type and unlock your skincare potential!
Navigating the world of skincare can be a maze, especially with the variety of products and advice available. A crucial step in optimizing your skincare routine is understanding your skin type. Each type has its own characteristics and needs different care to stay healthy and look its best. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you identify and care for your skin type.

  1. Oily Skin: The Shine Factor
How It Works:
  • Production: Oily skin is the result of overactive sebaceous glands producing excess sebum, a natural skin oil.
  • Characteristics: You’ll notice a shiny or greasy appearance, particularly in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin).
  • Pores: These are often enlarged, and the skin is prone to blackheads and acne breakouts due to the buildup of oil and dead skin cells.
Care Tips:
  • Cleanse Regularly: Use a gentle, oil-free cleanser twice a day to control excess oil without overdrying your skin.
  • Matte-finish Products: Look for moisturizers and sunscreens that provide a matte finish to reduce shine.
  • Exfoliate Weekly: This helps to remove excess oil and dead skin cells, preventing clogged pores.
  1. Dry Skin: The Tightening Tale
How It Works:
  • Production: Dry skin produces less sebum than normal skin, lacking the lipids it needs to retain moisture and form a protective shield against external factors.
  • Characteristics: Skin feels tight, especially after cleansing, and may show flakes or scales with a rough texture.
  • Sensitivity: Prone to red patches and less elasticity, which can lead to visible lines and wrinkles.
Care Tips:
  • Hydrating Cleanser: Use a hydrating, soap-free cleanser that doesn’t strip moisture from the skin.
  • Rich Moisturizers: Look for creams with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides to help maintain and attract moisture.
  • Avoid Hot Water: Use lukewarm water when cleansing as hot water can further dry out your skin.
  1. Combination Skin: The Dual Dynamics
How It Works:
  • Production: Combination skin features two or more different skin types on the face, typically oily in the T-zone and dry or normal on other areas.
  • Characteristics: You might find some parts of your face are shiny, while others are either perfectly normal or dry.
  • Balance: The key challenge is managing both oily and dry areas without aggravating either.
Care Tips:
  • Balancing Act: Use a gentle cleanser that removes oil without overdrying the skin.
  • Targeted Treatment: Apply a mattifying moisturizer or primer on oily areas and a hydrating one on dry spots.
  • Gentle Exfoliation: Regularly exfoliate to balance the skin texture but be gentle to not irritate dry areas.
  1. Sensitive Skin: The Reactive Reality
How It Works:
  • Reactivity: Sensitive skin reacts more to irritants, allergens, and environmental changes, leading to redness, itching, and burning sensations.
  • Characteristics: It can show signs of redness, dryness, itching, and often feels tight and uncomfortable.
  • Triggers: Common triggers include certain skincare ingredients, fragrances, and harsh weather.
Care Tips:
  • Patch Test Products: Always patch test new products to check for reactions.
  • Fragrance-Free Formulas: Opt for skincare items that are free from fragrances, alcohol, and other potential irritants.
  • Soothing Ingredients: Look for products with aloe vera, chamomile, and other calming components.
5. Normal Skin: The Balanced Baseline
How It Works:
  • Balance: Normal skin has well-balanced sebum production and good circulation.
  • Characteristics: It’s neither too oily nor too dry, and has few blemishes, with a smooth texture and a clear, bright complexion.
  • Maintenance: This skin type is the least problematic, but it still benefits from a balanced skincare routine.
Care Tips:
  • Gentle Care: Use a gentle cleanser and a lightweight moisturizer to maintain skin’s natural balance.
  • Regular Routine: Stick with a basic skincare routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection.
  • Seasonal Adjustments: Adjust your skincare products according to the changing seasons to maintain your skin’s perfect balance.
Identifying your skin type is the first step towards a tailored skincare routine that can withstand the rigors of a busy lifestyle. By understanding and addressing the specific needs of your skin, you enhance your appearance and fortify your skin’s health, ensuring you’re always ready to face the day with confidence.

2024.05.15 00:05 Immediate-Repeat2832 How do people find good doctors offices?????

Okay so I have the WORST luck finding good doctors in my area. My first doctor when I moved here had me tested for tuberculosis. This was for a daycare job I was trying to get. AND I LITERALLY TESTED POSITIVE. Instead of..idk, calling someone and getting imaging, she literally PRAYED for me in the room and sent me on my way. (She was since fired from the clinic-not for the TB issue but because she brought her religion into her practices). So I went to a different doctor in the same clinic. He tested me, I tested positive, and he just asked “what symptoms do you have?” And I said “I dont know I cough a lot but I have asthma”. So he said he would send a referral to a local hospital for imaging. He said to go there right after the appointment and just say I need imaging for TB and hand them a piece of paper. So my happy ahh drives all the way to this hospital, I hand them the paper, and the receptionist says there is no referral for me and the paper he handed me was literally just an Appointment Summary. I call the office, the nurse says that he will send it now, and nope. Never sent it. So I go about my life, not knowing what to do about this because no one ever explained it to me and I didnt bother doing resesrch to know how bad it actually is. Finally find a new doctor who actually takes it seriously. She actually sends a referral and I don’t have active tuberculosis!!! Yay I wont die or kill anyone else in the process!!! But then SHE fcks up! She refers me to a psychiatrist in the clinic because I needed a proper ADHD diagnosis. (News Flash: he was not a psychiatrist and he was just an RN. No, not a specialist RN who is educated in psychology and licensed. No, just an RN). He decides to diagnose me with bipolar disorder instead of ADHD, all within a 30 minute appointment. Prescribes me Latuda (WHICH IS AN ANTIPSYCHOTIC) and sends me on my way. Heres the kicker, I start taking Latuda and WOW. SHOCKER. I start having manic episodes!!! Something I hadn’t had before! So I go back to him and tell him this, and say “I think I just need ADHD treatment and to be providing coping mechanisms for my ADHD”. He says (in essence) “Well that sucks, keep taking Latuda to see if it works eventually.” I listened to him and kept taking it until I got pregnant. But this SAME doctor before I got pregnant tried to take out a benign tumor on my rib cage IN OFFICE. She literally tried to put the numbing sht in the area of my ribs, which btw hurts like a mofo. I literally almost punched the nurse, so they both decide to HOLD. ME. DOWN. IN. THE. CHAIR. I started sobbing and having a panic because-surprise again! I HAVE PTSD. She ends uo trying to rip this cyst or whatever out but cant, and at this point I am screaming and crying in pain. So she says “Yeah I guess I cant take it out. You might need to be put under for this. I will send a referral.” (She did not).
Anyway so last Wednesday I go to a whole new doctors office. Its small. I needed lab work done before my doctor saw me, so the only nurse in this clinic grabs me and he is sweating like a sinner in church and looks on the verge of tears. This man goes into a room with me and starts ranting about his job, his boss, how he wants to quit, etc. He is SHAKING because he is so angry. So I try to talk him down. I am usually really good at this. But while he is prepping my arm to poke me, he takes off one of his gloves AND STARTS POKING THE AREA WITH HIS BARE HANDS AFTER HE SANITIZED IT. He doesn’t sanitize it again. He also never washed his hands when he entered the room or put hand sanitizer on. HE THEN STARTS TOUCHING ALL OVER THE NEEDLE WITH HSI BARE HANDS. I am literally too anxious to say anything that might send him over the edge. Is this my fault? Fkcing absolutely. I should have said something. He pokes me, he misses my vein. He moves to my other arm AND DOES THE SAME SHT. So then moves to my hand, and this time finally hits a good vein. BUT THEN IS SWEATING ALL OVER THE NEEDLE AND THE HOLE IN MY SKIN. AND THEN GETS MAD AT ME WHEN I PANIC AND MOVE MY HAND. He NEVER sanitized after he touched me with his bare hand. Never cleaned it after he sweat all over my hand. And at this point I finally tell him to stop and that I need to go home.
I am now waiting for lab work to come back after that to see if I somehow got anything (as recommended by my insurance nurse line when I reported the incident).
How do I even go about finding a good doctors office? What do I look for when I search for one??

Need recommendations
Just turned 41 and have dealt with a combination of rosacea (type 2) and seb derm for the last 15 years. Each condition waxes and wanes and goes through periods of flareups followed by relatively calm periods. My skin is incredibly reactive too, and I’ve spent a small fortune testing out products. Currently, I follow this routine:
AM: spritz with distilled water, apply Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station moisturizer, and then apply Cotz sensitive mineral sunscreen
PM: wash over sunscreen with MCT oil, gently cleanse with Geek & Gorgeous Jelly Joker, apply Soolantra, apply Hydration Station moisturizer
I’ll sometimes spot treat a whitehead or small pustule with salicylic acid. My skin can’t tolerate full application of actives, and I’m not sure it even likes the mineral sunscreen (or the act of removing it).
My concern is that my face is a combination of hyperpigmentation, background redness, and dullness. I also have sebaceous hyperplasia on my cheeks and forehead. Besides the skin, I think my undereye area is dark and puffy, and my left side is starting to see a more pronounced nasolabial fold.
I’d like to get some thoughts or recommendations on what type of laser procedure would help, with an eye on the fact that my reactive skin may not be able to tolerate heavy-duty treatments. I’m also curious if there is something I should look into for my eyes and nasolabial fold. Would filler be an option?
