2023.06.16 06:33 StephOnStardoll Change Your User Flair to Your Stardoll Username

Hello! I just received some feedback from u/Roseelesbian letting me know I should allow for custom User Flairs in this subreddit so we can recognize each other by our Stardoll usernames when making posts and comments.
If you're unfamiliar with how to do this here are the steps:
If you're on mobile this can be done by entering this subreddits front page and clicking the three dots in the top right corner.
  1. Select "Change user flair"
  2. Select "Stardoll Username"
  3. Make sure "Show my user flair on this community" is toggled on
  4. Then press "APPLY"
  5. After this if there isn't already, re-enter the User Flair page and there will be an "Edit" button in the top right corner
  6. Click the arrow next to "Stardoll Username" and enter your actual Stardoll username
  7. Don't forget to save, then click done.
After this any posts or comments you leave should have your Stardoll username next to your Reddit username.
If you're on Reddit.com navigate to the front page of the Stardoll subreddit and on the right hand side there is a box titled "About Community". Underneath "Create Post" there will be a pencil symbol across from "Preview". Click this and repeat the steps mentioned for mobile users starting at #3
I hope these instructions are helpful!

2022.05.19 23:19 chunkymangaartist [iOS/iPad][early-mid 2010s] Dress-Up app where you could work certain careers to earn money for fashion

Hello lovely redditors! I recently had a little nostalgia moment and I'm desperately trying to find the name of this app I loved back in elementary/middle school. It's most likely defunct now, like a lot of apps from the early 2010s that didn't update, but I just want to find the name so that I can be sure I didn't just imagine it lol.
Platform(s): iOS, specifically iPad (specific gen unknown/unsure, but it was older)
Genre: Dress-Up Game
Estimated year of release: early-mid 2010s
Graphics/art style: From what I remember, it was your typical glam and glitz style for dress up games of that era with bright colors and accentuated shines. The only difference is that a lot of dress up games were semi-realistic in a barbie looking way, but this one wasn't. The artstyle was 2D and semi-realistic (rendered with shadows/highlights), but was more anime-like than barbie-like. The key thing that makes me think that was the girl you got to dress up had bigger, more detailed eyes than a barbie-esque dress up game would have. I believe she was pose with her left leg sticking out and her left arm either resting by her side or her forearm lifted up so her wrist was by her shoulders. Her right arm was either by her side or on her hip. Y'know the typical digital fashion doll pose.
Notable gameplay mechanics: The main thing I remember is the mechanic to be able to work a variety of jobs for money. You would work menial labor jobs to earn money (I think you started out as a waitress?), then you buy more outfits and unlock higher paying jobs for nicer, more expensive outfits, makeup, and accessories. The most specific job I can remember was a zoologist because I think that was the last job I was on before I stopped playing. You started from like cage cleaner, to something a little higher that I can't remember, to I think a dolphin trainer, to a zoo nurse and then to zoologist. I believe that once you picked the highest level of whatever career you pursued, that was your career path for good or something like that because I remember a little pop up that said something along the lines of "Are you sure you want to become *job title*" because that would bar you from trying other jobs. I also think there was a day/night feature?? I think you could go to the mall at night after work and you would go in to see a lot of the stores with their mall doors down. Speaking of the mall, the mall feature was a side scroller that you could view all of the shops in. Actually I think the whole city had a side scrolling feature, now that I think about it. The mall was a cream color on the inside and each shop had an advertisement poster between them. You had an apartment that you could go to to change your clothes and a salon to change your . I think clothes impacted your jobs? Like you had to buy certain outfits in order to increase your level. It was either that or the job unlocked certain outfits, I can't remember which. There might have been studying too, so that you could gain stats to go to your preferred job. I could be getting my wires crossed here with some similar games that I've played, but I remember the general job mechanic the most clearly and it's 100% in the app.
Other details: I don't know why but I was convinced that the devs that made Stardoll made this app, but each time I checked different dev pages to see what apps they made, it wasn't there. I think that's because Stardoll had made an app where you could manufacture clothes and grow your business (Fashion Inc.) and the app I'm looking for was recommended to me underneath it in the recommended app sections. However, I could have sworn it had a little star in the corner of the app thumbnail like all the other Stardoll apps did. I explicitly remember putting that app with the other Stardoll apps in an app folder called "Stardoll stuff". I know that because "*app theme* stuff" folders are how I've organized my apps for years.
Any help is greatly appreciated! This is all I can remember semi-clearly about the app, but if anything else pops up I'll update the post. Thank you for your time!

2021.02.14 02:33 yogirlcat What happened to Underneath Stardoll?

I’ve joined Stardoll in 2009 and have played on and off throughout the years, as I’ve managed to spend my own money into the game and relive my childhood. Until 2016, my main reason for continuing to visit the website was the community around the Underneath Stardoll blog, even though I rarely participated in any discussions.
After a long break, I returned to the website in 2019 to find that that blog, just like Stardoll, died for no apparent reason. Without that community commenting on each (lack of) new thing, I felt alone playing the game (specially because I was already “too old” to play the game, by Stardoll’s standards).
I just wanted to know if any of you know what happened or were part of that blog.
And even though the website is dying, I’m happy I’ve found this subreddit and people that still care about this.
