2024.05.17 02:57 thesadcoffeecup Reuse fabric in too small dress for new project?
I bought this vintage dress as it's the exact same as my mother's wedding reception dress. In real life the silk is beautiful and slightly irridesant and I got this for about £20 which is quite good for 100% silk. I am graduating this autumn and wanted to wear something that is a nod to my mother, however her copy of the dress is a little too small and I don't want to risk destroying the seams. This dress is 2 sizes to small. submitted by thesadcoffeecup to sewing [link] [comments] I know I will not be able to just let out the seams enough to compensate for this but was thinking of cannibalizing the fabric for a completely new dress? If I took quite a bit of the length of I would have more fabric to recut a bodice. Maybe something sleeveless? Short skirt just above the knee. Any advice or warnings would be appreciated as I've never tried to repurpose fabric like this, only large pieces like curtains or sheets. Thank you! |
