Hello, I am writing a Pokemon fanfic and I am likely putting way too much behind it, but hey, Gotta love the storytelling hobby.
Pokemon Urban Black is a cyberpunk semi-realism take on Pokemon as a concept overall. The book has mature themes (not NSFW but certainly an older age range) and asks several questions about the nature of a pokemon world.
Anyway, I'm looking for a few voice actors who can help with snippets from the story. There will be no full-fledged chapter reading and even the most prominent roles will have snippets that last less than 1:30, if that.
This is a fun fan project. I am paying but I am not making profits off this. Below I am going to list roles from most to least prominent, along with two lines you can read if you so choose (not required before contact). Please let me know what roles you're considering when you reach out.

TL;DR for Part I: After 3+ years of working in near silence, Gamestop has dropped a reverse uno time-bomb nuke on shorts, and I don't believe we have fully comprehended just how big and effective of a nuke it will be. They finally released their plans to end the abusive short-selling once and for all... I believe the details in the filings have the answers. Need more eyes. We just need to HODL and let RC & Team work their magic. This was precisely timed and will be executed precisely. I believe they are about to throw the whole kitchen sink at em. Shorts r truly fuk. To be continued.
TL;DR for Part II: Although you should really read through this to get super jacked...Predicition: Gamestop will lay down the reverse uno... the company will protect its shareholders through a slew of new, private, non-dilutive security offerings that we get first dibs on, and that are backed by our current/future holdings. Cash/non-cash dividends from the proceeds of the sale of those securities (units) are on the table. Thus, forcing shorts to either pay or close. MOASS is inevitable.
Many Apes have stepped up to begin analyzing these filings. Thank you! The goal with my analysis is to continue to educate Apes on what all this jargon means, shine more light on the specificities of the filings and to speculate (for fun) as to what I think Gamestop is going to do based on the specificities. In the first part, I discussed Book Entry Securities issued via the DTC (the stock we all know and love), Preferred Stock (the juicy and scare new stock on the block), and the mysterious "Preferred Stock Depositary" (PSD) and its proposed role in the issuance and management of Gamestop's preferred stock to Apes worldwide, keeping it away from abusive short sellers and directly in the hands of Apes.
In my first part, I speculated that the unnamed PSD would likely be computershare. But the more I think about it, the more I am unsure of that. And maybe that is why it is unnamed as of yet. Many Apes from different parts of the world have been unable to DRS, so that means they have been unable to access/use Computershare to hold/manage their shares and the DTC shit the bed one too many times when they committed international securities fraud on the splividend. So, I am thinking its possible that Gamestop secures another entity with more accessibility worldwide, or perhaps is even in the process of creating their own depositary for their newly-issued securities (dare I say, units?), to manage their "Global Securities" (a term they use in the filings).

Sounds a lot like "series of securities that differ from the terms described here", doesn't it? I left off with a couple teasers and I look to close the tinfoil loop on those here.

BOOK ENTRY SECURITIES: Gamestop gives holders the exclusive rights and first dibs to purchase a shitload more Class A Common stock through new "Units". The units house the subscription contracts, warrants, and underlying stock. But there's only 45,000,000 more slated to be offered (so far). They give us the OPTION to purchase more later on until a certain date. The subscriptions give apes the opportunity to prevent dilution of their positions through scooping up the new stock before anyone else can. The Warrants allow us to add more at a given price (buying at a fixed price on the way up anyone?) This raises a TON of capital (potentially billions) for the company.
SUBSCRIPTION RIGHTS AND UNITS: Apes jump at the opportunity to scoop up more class A shares and this allows them the opportunity to then "purchase" a greater number of fractionalized preferred stock (depositary shares) than they could have before (with only 5,000,000 whole shares available). All preferred stocks (whether whole or fractional) are backed by the chosen depositary's receipts (the official ledger, NOT managed by the corrupt DTC). The preferred stocks (somehow) become part of the Units where all securities are held with the Unit agent (the depositary). Proceeds from the preferred stock sales go toward the company capital, to be used for general company purposes. What are those, you might ask?

I'm sitting here thinking...what if, as a "thank you" to loyal shareholders, they invest it back into shareholder accounts through an immediate cash dividend? You just spent $ buying preferred stock, why not delight investors by giving some right back? Awh but that would be expensive for the company! Nope. It would be expensive for the SHORTS who are responsible for paying that dividend!

Gamestop's ELI5: In the event that we issue a non-cash dividend, the PSD (depositary) will distribute the PROPERTY received by it TO the record holders of the depositary (preferred) shares entitled there to, IN PROPORTION to the number of depositiary shares owned by those holders. UNESS...the PSD determines that it somehow cannot be done...THEN the PSD may take that PROPERTY...and sell it publically or privately, and then the proceeds from that public/private sale will go directly to holder of the preferred stock.
Tinfoil? They're gonna try and issue/distribute the Wu-Tang Album or some other non-fungible property via a non-cash dividend. If that can't be done for whatever reason, they will sell the album/property at auction...all proceeds go back to preferred stock holders. No matter what, holders of the preferred stock win.
My last bit of tinfoil sounds crazy but, again, in part I, I spoke about filings saying the stock can be issued permanently, or even temporarily.
Gamestop sucks back up a ton of their class A common stock through buy backs. They may already be beginning to do that while the price is cheap, eventually leaving only a small amount of shares, or even just preferred stock available, privately held in the names holders. Non-diluted, scarcem valuable, and unable to be fucked with. GME becomes its own bank. Shareholders get the protection they deserve. MOASS happens through one of many ways...
I understand this is NOT proof that they are buying back...just speculation.
Once Gamestop has the shorts off their back finally, and the capital they want/need...they then go about what they really want to continue to GROW the company...mergers/acquisitions?
Also, some other Apes have said that its possible the Gamestop is offering the shorts a way out. And while personally do not think this is fair or likely, I think its possible and would not surprise me. But what if Apes/longs suck up all the shares at these offerings before shorts even get a chance? Then they're still fucked. Still needed our shares and they're now EVEN HARDER to get.

2024.05.20 01:58 FurryFriendXYZ7 Spending money, racing thoughts, binge eating…but sleeping *TOO MUCH* and neglecting hygiene and housework

I’m not quite sure what is going on or what caused it, and how to stop.
I haven’t cleaned my apartment for a while. Dishes are caught up, but my bathroom is kinda gross, and my floors haven’t been vacuumed or mopped in a while. I also bagged up some garbage and just set it aside and haven’t taken it out to the dumpster.
I have only showered twice this past week, when I had to go to appointments.
I had signed up to volunteer at the animal shelter this morning at 10:00…but didn’t roll out of bed until after 11:00am. I had trouble falling asleep but was in bed around 11:00pm.
So…all of ^{this^} makes me think I’m depressed.
But…I spent all my weekly money in one day, without buying any groceries. (I have a Representative Payee who handles my bills and sends me spending money weekly. It’s supposed to cover gas, groceries, and anything else I need).
I’m obsessing about food even more than usual (I have a binge/restrict eating disorder.
And my thoughts are racing to the point I can’t sit and watch a movie or read a book.
And I’m not sure if I’m hypersexual…I’m now in a long-distance relationship with a former boyfriend, so we tease a lot on the phone, so I don’t feel the need to look elsewhere like in my past.
My meds haven’t changed recently:

Lithium
Zyprexa/olanzapine
Klonopin/clonazepam (only as needed)

I just started with a new therapist…but all this has been going on prior to our appointment.

Hi all,
My GF and I both use BFF and I thought to share some contrasts I found interesting in our experience using the app over the last 12 months or so. Just sharing for the sake of sharing if anyone was curious about what the other side looks like. I'm wondering if anyone has found some similarities in theirs?
The male's (my) experience:

Less matches overall. I think men are just less open to the nature of meeting complete strangers in this way and the number of guys on here is much slimmer. In contrast to my GF's experience, I've found that the ghosting (lots of it) is usually in conversation stage. This is strange on it's own. Free flowing conversation will suddenly come to an absolute halt rather than a fizzle out over time. If a meetup in person does happen, it usually results in some sort of friendship even it's very casual.
A lot of gay guys, usually looking for more than friendship. Self explanatory, I would say on average most dudes on the app are gay. Obviously no dramas with that, just personally not the dynamic I am looking for. However, most of them are not looking for friends and 2 dudes have straight up admitted to me they have a conversion fetish. I've made some friends from the app who have had some real horro funny stories.
The artificial nature of the connection. Messaging and trying to find common interests is tough, especially for guys. It's a very un-natural way for guys to make connections, so it can be pretty difficult to keep a chat going. You have to be ready to step out of your comfort zone and be prepared to really "give it a go". Women are way better at forming early connections and bridging gaps in awkwardness in my opinion.

The female's (my GF's) experience:

Many more matches but a LOT of ghosting. She has met many more people IRL than I have, by a substantial factor. However, she might hang out with a girl once or half a dozen times, then they disappear. I think the ghosting or fizzle out rate on the app is probably about the same but women do seem to get more matches.
Lack of effort. Seems to be a common thread from what I have already seen on this subreddit. My GF has said that most girls expect her to do the heavy lifting with conversation. They often don't reciprocate interest or effort in messaging which can be very draining and defeats the purpose. It seems like many girls are on there to cure boredom, get more shiny notifications on their phones or have terrible anxiety and like the idea of it but can't get further than that.

General thoughts:
The app has recently brought out the "Plans" feature which I think is great. It's a great way to break the ice with activity based meetups or navigate the awkwardness of 1:1 meetups. However, it faces a similar problem meetup.com does, the flake out rate. Arguably it is worse. There is no RSVP function, so with events, people have to confirm or pull out in the chat. When someone does pull out in the chat, it is a domino effect and you can watch the entire attendance rate disappear in 20 minutes. It's quite remarkable actually. A mate I met on here calls it the BFF syndrome. I think it's an anxiety thing, and an RSVP function would help. That way people can see who's going from the start ("Are there any other girls going", "safety in numbers" etc). The plans feature could use a bit more serviceability overall.
I've noticed people looking for alternatives to BFF on the subreddit which is interesting. Obviously this is due to how slack people can be on here, the ghosting etc. This is a people problem rather than an issue with the platform. I think at lot people just like the idea of making friends than actually putting themselves out there and being uncomfortable. It is what it is I guess. It's a numbers game, and the more you put out, the more you get back. I guy that I originally found quite weird on a plans meetup turned out to be someone I look forward to seeing. He told me struggles with terrible social anxiety and forces himself to go to meetups, put more interest into other people and generally leave his comfort zone. It's something I have really come to respect and admire about him.

Lately I've been really ontiplatiting the control over my life during these times of meaningless bullshi. For the past 2 years I've been drowning my self in alcohol, weed and any else I've gotten my hands on. It's sucks to truly admit I'm addicted to substances even when I've gained to the courage to not do them. Currently I'm in a relationship with my girl "Ash". I love her dearly even if I don't show it much, but the truth is I care enough to not reveal who I can be. Maybe I'm just scared of myself or what's to come. Anyways to summarize this all I'm battling depression and my biggest opponent is myself right now. Perhaps I've always been my biggest opponent....
My request to the world is to continue playing my songs and share my content (JemustonXII) Would've never imagined myself expressing my last messages through reddit, but to each his own in this tormented reality. I'd suggest to people between the ages of 14-25 plz consider yourself more than worthy I'm sorry if life is kicking your ass just like mine, but the truth of the matter is no one is willing to save you enough more than you are willing to. In this Lifetime my submission of thought concludes pain, anger and loneliness. At the moment I feel "empty as fuck". Even when individuals notice I'm not okaii they normalize my sarcasm and exaggerated speech. They take it and chew the flavorful "Cry for Help" only to spit it out somewhere unwanted. I carry my days wondering how much more will this last and how much more can I endure this everlasting suffering on this planet. In the past 8 months I've gained much weight. Just last summer I was 180lbs, but now I'm a staggering 270lbs+. It doesn't feel very good since I lost all this weight in 2019 yet it's back just like my fears.
Initially beginning my message/goodbye for when this repurposes I just wanted to be loved by people. It's getting harder to breathe and stranger to talk with people I know much more than myself. I miss my mom. My childhood and my happiness.

How to fix clash royale To make this a little easier for me, I will refer to Clash Royale as CR and Supercell as SC.
I will admit that SC has been pretty generous. Giving us an evolution for under 100 gems, a free tower troop, Lucky Drops, and other stuff. In order to fix the game, you need to add things, change things, and delete things. I could say get rid of dagger dutches. Ban Mega Knight. Make E-Giant Nine Elixir. But that would not fix the game. I would make it 250 gems to change your name. This is a small change, but it would go a long way. Next is the way you get elite wild cards. I think that it should be easier to get. Here are my ideas.

Let’s say you have 800/800 common cards and get 200 from a lucky drop. You have the choice of 1000/800 or 200 elite wild cards.
You have a trader where you can trade cards for elite wild cards.

The second option will only be available when you have a level 14 card. This is an idea that should have been added a while ago: trading trade tokens.
You should be able to trade tokens with clanmates. You give them a legendary trade token and get two rare trade tokens.

Shop offers
Add six emotes to the daily shop.
Add this new feature where you can get an emote that’s not in the shop for 300 gems. This doesn’t include limited emotes or the goblin crying emote.
and get rid of the 10x value.
Challenges Make the challenge: retry 50 gems, not 100. If it’s 50 gems, more people are likely to buy it twice or at least once.
Give new players two wild shards.
Finally, MAKE IT SO YOU CAN TRADE EVOLUTION Shards.

2024.05.20 01:53 Aromatic-Yoghurt-578 I am 14, (will be 15 in a month) and i'm very confused in life.

Hey there. Like the title says, I am 14m. Also, the title basically resembles everything that I have been thinking about during probably the last year or so. Since I was 13, I have found myself looking at the ceiling to no avail because my mind likes to play with me and it starts telling me "If you don't do anything now then you'll be a failure!", which I don't like. But, you see, I do have some pretty nice things going towards my directions. I am pretty tall, (182 cm) have a rather decent voice (people tell me i'm good at singing, even though I don't believe them) and English isn't even my native language, as I am Colombian. But I play way too much video games and I am getting pretty concerned for myself. That being said, I do have a rather decent GPA, (standing at a 2.86.) It used to be just over 3 just like a month ago, I think 3.02 to be exact, but it took a little hit. (I missed school for 4 days because I caught something very nasty last Friday, maybe that's why.)
Either way, If I keep going like this i'm sure I will be able to pass this year with no worries. But still, I don't know what i'm going to do when I grow up. I don't want to go to college when I graduate because I think paying that much will get me nowhere, and I would much rather be making some sort of money at 18 rather than have the chance of being in debt at that age. I can still invest in some banks to make money off of interest when I get a job early on. Trade School is also an option, but I am still a little confused on what that is. Either way, I just want to live a comfortable life. I don't even know how to apply for a job, but I understand that because I am just 14. I just don't want to be telling myself the same thing when I am older. (By the way, I also don't want to join the military. I would hate to travel so far away from my home, and I wouldn't be comfortable holding a gun.)

Is there anywhere where we can find documentation on how certain mechanics work? I've tried the wiki, but it's a fucking mess that mostly refers to the main PC series (BTD 1 through 6) and there's nearly nothing about BTDB, especially mobile.
I'm asking because lately I've been noticing lots of inconsistencies with certain aspects of the game. For example, sometimes in round 1 you'll get your base income 3 times before round 2 hits. Sometimes the third income will hit the exact moment round 2 starts, which messes up the money gain with Cobra farms.
Sometimes for whatever reason I end up with either $5 more or $5 less by round two, which again messes some strategies which rely on having the specific and exact amount of money needed for certain things by round two. $5 less sounds like nothing, but it slows said strategies down quite a bit.
I can't make sense of any of it and I can't find any resource that explains how income works, why sometimes it's higher, why sometimes it's slower / faster.

2024.05.20 01:47 kingschwap Depop banned me after they took my money

This past week I sent TWO shoes out through depop shipping. The mail lady took both pairs like it was nothing. Then come the following day the shoes got sent back to my house because shipping label I chose through depop was >2 and the shoes exceeded that. Quickly told the buyer imma take care of that asap and I did!! I appropriated the shipping myself and paid the difference for the label. Told the buyer I just got that out and sent him the tracking via depop messages. WRONG. Because I used depop shipping it technically stated it got redelivered on depops end so what did depop do the following day? THEY REFUNDED THE BUYER AFTER I ALREADY SENT OUT THE SHOES. After I saw the email I instantly blew depop up and the told them what happened and I provided the receipts as well as tracking all the evidence I needed to show and I was demanding a reversal of the refund due to him having both items, depop followed up with “oh we see it got delivered back your house so just repost them and have the buyer rebuy them because it wouldn’t be FAIR if you had both money and shoes” and at this point I flipped and I let loose on depop I was blowing them up telling them how could they do this what were you thinking etc etc depop generically told me to have the buyer repay for them and all will be well or if not to hit them up and I told them that there wasn’t resolution because the buyer was telling me “oh I’ll pay for them when they get here” I was begging and pleading to depop the hours before they got delivered that I was getting scammed and they wouldn’t have it. The shoes got delivered and the kid said he was gonna pay and he actually gave me hope as well until he didn’t, the kid started playing dumb and said “I never got the shoes” but I have him saying “I’ll send in a little bit” I have been going back and forth with this kid as well as depop and depop is giving my me 0 help I’ve contacted them on their socials and was telling them to check my shit but they would send me the automated emails and ignore me but then tell me they weren’t??? Bruh I have had other claims where I email depop they ask for the evidence I send and instantly moneys reversed back with emails and all that so I know how it goes!! I did the exact same thing and depop did nothing but say they’re looking into and that it’s escalated to the proper team, but nothing was changing they were not doing anything for 3 days!! They kept just stringing me a long. On top of that I’m in a message war trying to get my money and this kid is reporting me for but he is scamming me? Depop is taking so long for anything and telling me they don’t like the way they are being spoken to? and I’m going crazy because of how much money it is and how little help depop is giving me, I am literally telling and asking what they’re doing and thinking. I would send one messsge and wait 24 hours for the next. Even now it’s the 4th but now depop has banned me because they “don’t appreciate the way I’ve spoken to them” they have banned with the scammer having my money my shoes and his account in tact. I’m left with no shoes no money and this kid has found my instagram and hes making accounts to troll me and I’m sitting here like WHY WAS I BANNED. They said I’m going to get paid out my money but they told me the balance without the money I’m owed then I told what about that and they said it with a different team being handles??? Why the fuck is it like this why am I not getting answers I know why I was banned I for sure hurt their feelings but why was I banned and not him? I have the screenshots that he acknowledged he recieved and the ones where he retracts and starts saying how he never got them etc. I was relatively new to the game but I just past my 50th sale I had 22 5 star reviews, this kid had half that and when I left review that he was a scammer depop took his side and took that away?! I’m at a loss for words because depop was my side hustle and now I have to find a new one. I don’t fucking understand why they’re doing this I wish I would’ve just had the guy rebuy them instead of me resending them myself thinking I was doing the the good thing. I’m so hurt right now

Hello. I am a fairly long time SWGOH player who loves to collect and complete stuff. I play this game in a completely inefficient but fun way. I like to complete my collections rather than just gear up to min requirements and move on to better farms.
Because of this, and the nature of SWGOH, I tend to take a decent time on stuff I should already have. (I have only recently unlocked GL Rey 3 years after her release.) I also have trouble staying focused on tasks for extreme periods. So I made a spreadsheet to showcase progress and guide me to what's next. And then I made another. And another....and another....And now I'm on the 8th sheet and it's just been completed.
My goal was to make a complete list of every character in order that they should be farmed, starting as though I'm a brand new level 85 with access to everything.

I come here to share this list for anyone like me who wants to find a new farming path, and to open up discussion to other players.
This is the rule set I used in my list, and in my farming process in general ever since day 1:

Get a team that gets me crystals. A good Fleet, a good GAC batch, TB and TW teams, ect.
1. Start with Hoth TB Empire/Rebel, then Goe TB Sep/Rep, then finally get into ROTE.
  1. This does not take into account the bunker requirements in ROTE, because if it did everyone would have to be relic 9 because it's constantly updated.
2. This assumes I have access to and 3 star'd every node at this point.
3. This assumes I will not spend money (on shards). Obviously I could farm anything if money was no object.
If I'm going to farm a ship, farm the pilot(s) first.
1. At the same time, if possible.
Early teams should not be reliant on Zetas until I get a dark side fleet, and assume omicrons are not active unless that's all the character can do.
1. I can skip Zetas and Omicrons until I get to a point where I have extra resources that no one else needs.
2. Pretend Datacrons don't exist. Sure Kit Fisto or First Order SF TIE Pilot might have a game breaking datacron, but that isn't permanent and thus I will not drop everything to get it. It will also not factor into my farm order.
Relic targets are based on the stats we get from the relic, event requirements, and where the character would be used.
1. Tanks almost always go to relic 9, and good pilots go higher than the character probably should
2. Relic targets can be skipped on a necessary basis. I do not need to push to the target relic immediately, but eventually I will come back to them when it becomes more reasonable to do so.
  1. Spending money on high relics is allowed but discouraged.
Event Requirements must obviously be farmed up first, preferably but not always to their completed target.
1. This rule is in effect even if the character is already unlocked. Have to be complete.
2. I can skip characters that are impossible to gear or farm at the moment, such as marquee event characters not on a node yet, or ships that require high relics.
Once I have an event character, go back and give the requirements a home if possible.
1. Prioritize the event character's team, such as Padme's GRs or CLS's Rebels, before going back.
Take a break between GL farms to gather resources if possible. Multiple GLs in a row drains everything, including willpower.

hello! I always like to be listening to something so I am looking for some headphones that are pretty solid all around general use. I am currently using 3 different headphones for different use cases and would like to just get 1 nice one to downsize the amount of clutter I have (they are also all starting to crap out). They would be used for gaming, music prod, enjoying music, watching media. my priorities are gaming and music prod though. I also would like to prioritize comfort, and wireless would be super super nice too (understandable if not tho)
Budget - 200$ usd but can go a bit more if the increase is pretty justifiable
Source/Amp - just into my pcs motherboard or the direct monitor thing on the focusrite solo and bonus points If I can use it with my phone (usb-c and will need to get an adapter thingy if wired). my pc has Bluetooth but unsure about latency and the codec thing.
How the gear will be used - playing games (fps/story), music production (amateucasual), enjoying music during long commutes I practically have headphones or earbuds on ALL the time so I tend to run through gear pretty quickly, I also wear glasses if that's important! I don't care about active noise cancelling but if it has it I will use it.
Preferred tonal balance - I don't have a preference, what ever is objectively good for gaming and music prod (even though it's hard to do both, I understand) I am unsure if I prefer closed or open back, I think I've only tried semi-open and closed?
Preferred music genre(s) - I listen to a lot of stuff that is not really mixed properly I'm not even gonna lie so this part might not matter as much but, I'm into bedroom bop indie stuff, hyperpop and breakcore and mathrock and EDM. I enjoy picking through drums, guitar, sub-bass and synths. I also enjoy clear cutting vocals.
Past gear experience - (kind of long, maybe annoying so feel free to skip) massdrop akg white m220 - I don't super like the stock muffs, they get pretty hot for me after long use and are in general are a bit too big for my head since the I can't adjust the band any shorter, sound pretty flat and want something a bit more fun but these are the main headphones I use when I do any music prod. I don't like the wire, it's kinda rubbery and gets tangled easily. also the muffs r like super tough and stuff which doesn't feel that good.
hyperx cloud flight - I reallyyy liked the comfort on these headphones as they didn't really have much clamping force but the audio itself had a lot left to be desired in terms of bass punch and didn't really sound good for music listening. these were my favorite though simply coz I could use them forever w out fatigue. liked that it was wireless but was USB dongled so couldn't use wireless with my phone. the battery only lasts for 30 mins after charging and almost has no padding anymore so they don't get much use anymore.
razer black shark (V2?) - comfy but gets hotter than the hyperx ones, I think the bass is better than it too but still wasn't my favorite for listening. also only lasts for 30 mins after charging. also wireless which was nice but still USB dongle.
astro a40 - these sound the nicest to me for gaming but Jesus I get so much fatigue from wearing them and hate the wire sm. it's also kinda rubbery like the m220 and gets really tangled against other cables. currently using these but really not happy w them.
30$ IEM that has an anime girl on the box I forget but a lot of rhythem game players recommend. this is the worse offender of cable tangle and I just rather not deal with them most of the time. prefer headphones to in ears too because they can get hot/sweaty over long periods. they sound very nice tho but they r the only IEMs ive tried so far.
pixel bud-A - I like these a lot but also not ideal for long period of times. I enjoy how seemless they connect to my phone/pc but these r abyssmal for gaming and I use them solely for music during commute. I like the audio but am missing a lot of the mids.
Sony wxm4 - these are soo nice but I am only borrowing them and have to return them soon but I really enjoy the comfort and lightness. However I think the noise cancelling is too aggressive and only really use for listening to music during commute. also I don't really think they sound that great when I also consider the 350$ price tag.
TLDR: using akg m220 for music prod, astro a40s for gaming, pixel bud-A/Sony wxm4 for music listening during commute but kinda hate all of them and just want 1 pair of all arounders.
RN, considering the ath-m50xBTv2 but hear it's not that comfy (which is a high priority for me) also mixed opinions on sound quality and the massdrop senhesier hd58x but unsure if they would be usable during commute and not wireless (which is less of a priority but still) would love to hear input still as I am really inexperienced with this kind of stuff. Some users seems to subtly excuse or act as apologists of the toxic behaviors of individuals with BPD, which concerns me. This space is intended for survivors of abuse to share their stories and support each other, so it's unacceptable for anyone to seek sympathy for abusers here. I want to mention a specific user, who often contributes comments and posts with a lot of "positivity/big person energy". While I appreciate positivity, some of the narratives they bring might inadvertently normalize or romanticize abuse, which isn't helpful for those already grappling with the effects of manipulative BPD tactics and abuse.
I will give some examples of things they brought here:

"They are lost and afraid. They are broken. Nothing broken is fixed by leaving it on the ground where you found it."
"We got to get out of all this crap that being angry at someone for a mental illness yeah they hurt you man up if you love them stick around try helping me a better person if you don't walk away it's that simple."
"My son or my daughter could walk in my house shoot me in the stomach and steal my money and I would bleed out on the floor thinking about the first time I saw either one of them walk or smile. That type of Love is based in the soul."
"Being angry will just feed their head and they will be off to the next to start the game over. Love, true love. MAY be the push they need to want to change."

I have the sentiment that these statements don't seem constructive. It's hard to see how they could offer real support or guidance to someone navigating difficult situations with a person with BPD. In fact, they might only add to the confusion and self-blame already experienced by many in such situations.
Moreover, it's insensitive to diminish the pain of others by telling them to "man up" or act as "medics," implying they should continue to extend efforts and care for their abusers despite enduring significant abuse.
In one comment, they attempted to gather sympathy from someone who had been abused and cheated on by their partner with BPD, suggesting they should consider the abuser as the "little girl she once was," implying that the abuser is only a perpetual victim. This narrative perpetuates the fallacy that individuals with BPD are always victims, which is far from reality.
Aside from this particular user (Who I just believe to be only a codependent ex-partner of a pwBPD), I've observed some accounts in this subreddit that appear to be created by individuals with BPD who attempt to infiltrate this safe space. Their aim seems to replicate these tactics, promoting apologetic narratives and perpetuating fallacies that romanticize abusers.
I hope this serves as a reminder to stay vigilant against these dangers. Your feelings of anger and frustration are completely valid, and it's crucial not to compromise your well-being by aligning with anything that undermines you (do not make peace with anything that might anihilate you). Remain aware of abusive tactics and continue to prioritize your own safety and healing. This post is very long. This first section, before the first triple-line-break, is the summary. Details follow that.

So, I was very much looking forward to Legendary Tales for a while now after hearing so many great things.
I bought it on sale a couple days ago and played the first hour or so, completing the tutorial and entering the main hub. Then I uninstalled and refunded it.
This is not a 'hate post' and I hope that this post will not only help people understand some of the issues of this game, and what this game is NOT, but also help people understand what this game is and why you might love it. I talked about my criticisms with others who love the game to help me approach this and hopefully deliver some useful thoughts. It's worth noting that I got lots of agreement about my criticisms from the people I talked to - who still love the game.
In short,
People love this game for the combat development in the context of a 40+ hour adventure. All the depth to the skill trees, which of course in my hour I didn't touch. The creativity of building the mechanics of a character RPG style - except you get to physically battle in VR. The reward of unlocking that cool skill you've been excited to try out, or finding a legendary that's a blast to use. Even in my short time with the game I could feel the beginnings of this with the parry system. I did have fun fighting skeletons with a simple sword and no skills, and felt the challenge as I had to aim my sword deflections well and time my counterstrikes. There is an effective mechanic preventing waggle-fest and I can begin to imagine all the room to develop your combat mechanics in a way that is, fun and rewarding, and uniquely VR.
Sounds great right? To some it truly is.
But to me, not so much. Why? Because everything else is lacking to a degree I did not expect.
I've been playing a lot of The Light Brigade lately. And although these two games are totally different, it's a useful game to bring up because The Light Brigade excels in all the ways that Legendary Tales significantly falls short.
Atmosphere - music and sound, lighting and colours, art design, character and enemy models
Interfacing - Onboarding and intuitive learning, UI design and fluidity, control mapping, options, grabbing/interacting with objects, general polish
Storytelling - Plot, lore, world building, characters, character and enemy expressiveness, writing
For many people who play games, combat is at the forefront of their interests. For me, it always takes a backseat priority - if its present at all - to the above three aspects. The combat in Bloodborne is great, but it is because it excels in those 3 aspects that it's one of my favourite games. I also love lengthy games like Pentiment, Disco Elysium, Planescape Torment, and Pathologic 2, which have minimal or no combat and lots of reading!
Legendary Tales is simply mediocre in those three bolded aspects and for me that's a hard pass. If these aspects were serviceable to me - done well enough to facilitate the combat - I might have kept going. But I don't use the world 'mediocre' lightly. This is the appropriate word to me, and because of that, I did not want to spend 40+ hours in this world.

DETAILS

For those interested, or for the developers, I will continue with a breakdown of these aspects I am criticizing, trying to go through everything I felt about them in the first hour or so of playing.
Main menu was my favourite part. I liked the scene + music together. Nice. I was looking forward to playing and this had me feeling fuzzy and ready to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, it was not to be.
The very first issue I noticed was that the game felt washed out. Even in that main menu I liked, I was feeling like it was a bit washed out. So I tried adjusting brightness down... then the darker areas felt better, but the light areas felt off. The more I played and tried to adjust to find the right equilibrium, the more I realized the lighting and contrast is just not good and adjusting brightness can't save that.
The second issue I noticed was the menu cursor to select things. It felt like an early VR game that hadn't quite figured out VR menus yet. It's useable but not fluid and pleasing.
The third issue I noticed was the unintuitive controls. I thought that this was the kind of game, kind of like a Souls game, where you aren't taught everything but learn things as you go in an organic manner. Maybe some of that exists in this game, but mostly it's simply bad control design and a bad tutorial. It's the difference between having barriers that have purpose, purposeful friction, and feel good when discovered vs barriers that feel pointless and just build frustration without purpose. The controls feel like a mess and while it's apparent that people can get used to them as they play more, it's not in a justified sense.
Along with this are interfacing issues. For example, grabbing items feels very awkward. The motions are clunky, for example the way a weapon will slowly glide into place in your hands. There's so many interfacing issues. The interface to see weapon/item stats on weapons that are laying about is clunky, the interface to switch weapons is clunky, the magic interface is clunky, dialogue boxes feel clunky,... all of these things feel clunky both in terms of feel and also aesthetic.
A very straightforward and obvious example is dialogue. Character dialogue is presented in a large bland text on a page. To progress through the dialogue, there's no obvious place to click or button to push. In fact, you have to click a particular area of the page, which feels totally arbitrary and unintuitive. Sure, once you learn, you can do it fine, but it's just bad interface design.
To go back to The Light Brigade, think about the difference in both feel and aesthetic to opening a chest or breaking a pot. Grabbing a gun and how it arrives to your hand. The attractive dialogue boxes. Watching a reward pop out of a chest, picking a tarot card. Putting objects into your waist pouch or taking them out. These interactions are all comfortable, beautiful, fluid, and intuitive.
The next thing on my mind was sound.
As I played the tutorial, the soundscape was barren. There was a wind loop, which didn't loop correctly leaving a solid second of space between the end and beginning. Sounds didn't feel like they were placed quite right in 3D space. Point-based sounds (like the crackling of a campfire, that comes from a specific point in space) had too small of a zone (the sound should be heard from further away). In general the soundscape was very barebones. And when I encountered the first character, not only did the character look totally goofy and out of place, but they made no sounds when 'speaking', not even grunts or gibberish sound.
To skip ahead for a moment, I also felt the music did not match the environments enough. The music was quite pretty - that's not the problem. It just didn't feel like the environments were quite synergized with the music.
Again for both music and sound, think of the gun sounds, the ability sounds, the sound of the enemies as they spot you, the sound of the environment, the footsteps and dash, the grunts of characters when the speak, the music... not only does it all sound great, but it all feels like expressions of the unique world of The Light Brigade. This is excellent sound and music design, that truly bring the world to life.
Although a minor complaint, I also noticed lots of grammar and spelling errors. Although I understand the team is in South Korea, and I appreciate the challenges of translation, just like with everything else I was just expecting... more polish. I thought it would feel like a full package, at indie scale. But it feels very much like a partial package.
And that segues into the writing...
There are games with simple and/or unmemorable story, where the story is still servicing and facilitating the gameplay.
And then there is just plain bad writing.
This is very much the latter.
Maybe a bit of this goes back to translation but I am doubtful that it fares much better in original Korean in essence.
The writing is goofy, juvenile, poorly structured, and generic.
I was also seriously turned off by a couple lines in particular, that I'm sure affect me more than most but I will mention anyways. One was something like "valuable gem missing. And a hot girl". Like... There's nothing inherent about calling a woman (or a man) hot that I don't like. Yes gamers, you are allowed to find women attractive, relax. But it's the way its written,... I'm not going to turn this into an essay about male gaze but the way its written simply services a particular male audience that casually objectifies women.
Even worse was the final line I read, a quest line. Paraphrasing, but the primary descriptive words are all exact: "Go kill 10 kill peasants in a refugee camp". I don't think I need to elaborate, people who are on a similar page to me will understand why this was just an incredibly gross line.
I know the above two dialogue criticisms will not be shared by everyone and not affect everyone the same way. I am expressing them as part of what I felt, my personal criticisms and experience, just like the rest of what I'm sharing.
Again to compare to The Light Brigade... every line feels thoughtful and builds character and develops the lore. Whether its the forlorn lines of NPC members of The Light Brigade, or the scenes that appear between runs, and other bits and pieces you get. The Light Brigade develops so much world with few words, it's quite impressive and again a beacon that Urban Wolf Games can learn from.
The final issue I'll discuss was something that struck me earlier on. That is, player character model and lack of customization.
First of all - again an issue that the majority here probably won't be affected by - I could not pick my character model until after completing the tutorial. Specifically, I was forced to do calibration as a male character model, and then had to play the tutorial as this character. Minor complaint but again just another polish issue.
Both male and female models are just... boring designs, and the female model is again very juvenile, obviously serving a primarily male audience, whether intentionally or not.
But more importantly, there's no character customization. Not even the tiniest bit. Even the ability to change just skin colour and hair only would go a long way. Especially in a lengthy adventure like this, I need to be able to identify with my character. Especially with multiplayer it seems essential to me, but even if it were single player, and as someone who plays primarily in single player, character customization is hugely impactful to me.
This does not really have a contrast in The Light Brigade - there's no character customization in The Light Brigade either, although the kind of game it is, it's not as relevant. That said, I do think it would be a nice touch if there WAS some minor character customization in The Light Brigade, and especially if you could play as a woman instead of man if you so choose. Although maybe lore-wise it is intended that all members are male except for 'Mother'. This hasn't been established with any good reason though. So on this point I would lightly criticize The Light Brigade as well.

ENDING THOUGHTS

Ultimately, Legendary Tales is quite simply a very indie game that probably had a very small team and limited funds. I don't know for sure, but probably there *wasn't* a dedicated writer, a dedicated UI and interface designer, etc.
However, these things are still failings of the game and its design. The greatest indie games to me are ones that successfully recognize their scope limitations and develop something complete within that scope. Whether it's the roguelike world of The Light Brigade, or the very short and stylish Tiger Blade, or Jeff Minter's trippy games like Akka Arrh and Polybius, or the retro Silent Hill aesthetic of Organ Quarter, or the suspenseful hotel of Propagation Paradise Hotel... all these games are made by small teams but successfully navigate their limited funds to deliver a full package within an appropriately limited scope.
On the one hand, I really value and support BJ's push for indie games to be respected and for that respect to reflect in the price consumers are prepared to pay. But after being totally on board with the price of Legendary Tales based on what I read from BJ and reviewers and many regular players too, I have to disagree with this game's pricing. This game is not polished enough, and is not a full package. That the game sucked out so much funds is an error of scope.
Maybe I will be in the minority, and Legendary Tales has been a success so it seems that I am, and so good on them for knowing the value of their game to the demographic they targeted I guess. And regardless, even if the pricing and attempted scope of the game are an error on the dev's part, I'm glad for the dev to earn back as much as they can, or even turn a profit hopefully.
But to me, reflecting back to the question the devs put forward: "Do you want to see deep combat development like this in VR for a 40+ hour adventure from indie devs?" The answer is no, I don't. I do consider the scope of this game an error on the part of the developers. It sounds like they did not even turn a profit enough to allow them to expand their team (but maybe I'm misunderstanding). I hope that they do continue with VR development, but instead focus on a much smaller scope game. Deliver a polished, complete package within a smaller scope, implementing a much tighter budget that will allow for potential turning of profit with an appropriately lighter sale price (maybe targeting a $30 game?).
If that is successful, do it again, and again, until they can expand and eventually work toward their dream adventure RPG, hiring actual writers and UI designers and sound designers etc. For me personally, this is simply not the kind of game you can half-bake. It should be attempted again when, and only when, they feel they have budget to do this in a truly full and polished manner.
I had the pleasure of meeting BJ briefly at PAX East. He struck me as friendly, kind, totally genuine, and incredibly passionate as a game developer and a VR game developer in particular.
I do wish this team good luck and despite my own harsh criticism I am glad so many ARE enjoying this game, and also feel the price point is justified. I want devs to earn money, including Urban Wolf Games. And I hope that they will continue to develop and bring more VR to the world.
I hope that my criticism is constructive and useful toward these same goals.

When Ana asked us to bring a blanket and a cap to keep the baby warm since she was barely one week old and was lightly dressed, Day responded to the request faster than I did; however, I could tell she was faking a smile and was very angry.
A few hours later, Day came to the kitchen area to do something, and Ana asked her to go and rest and told me to fulfill any tasks she needed. Ana also told Day that she could send her on any errands she wanted. Day went inside, and a few hours later, she called me to complain about Ana.Her complaint was that Ana was commanding her in her own house, asking her to bring the cap and blanket and also asking her to go get some rest.
Even though I know Ana means well, I empathize with Day and sided with her. I then went to Ana right after the complaints to discuss the situation with her and asked her to not interfere if Day does anything around the house. I also told her to politely ask Day for anything by saying, "Can you please".
Ana obliged without any complaints and even apologized, stating she didn't mean to offend her.It is worth noting that Ana also brought with her some native East African clothes as gifts for Day and the baby, which Day did not appreciate. I later lied to Ana, stating Day loved the clothes and was thankful for them.After that incident, there was some calm even though I noticed Day was always with our daughter in the bedroom and rarely came out.
When I realized for days she was always with the baby, I proposed we go out on dates to give her a break, while Ana watched over the baby. Day somewhat resisted and wanted the baby to come with us but later gave in and left the baby with grandma.
During this period, Ana would ask Day daily what she wanted to eat so she could cook it. I was helping with feeding the baby and changing diapers, alongside helping organize things in the house since we just moved to a new place. For about five days, there was some level of peace until my MIL visited.
As a matter of fact, a day before my MIL arrived, Day and I dropped the baby with Ana so we could go on a date. While we were heading to our destination, I overheard my MIL asking Day on the phone what we were doing, and she told her we were heading to the mall. MIL was upset when she told her we left the baby with Ana. Day kept saying, "Don't worry about it," multiple times. I didn't ask Day what was said, as that was a conversation with her mom, but I was concerned about what would happen once she started living with us.
It is worth noting that my MIL and my mom had never spoken to each other or met before or after we got married, so there is no bad blood between them.
The next day, when I returned from work in the evening, I found Day, Ana, and my MIL in the living room watching a show, which initially made me happy, thinking everyone was getting along. My wife even mentioned that she asked Ana to teach her Swahili, and my MIL expressed her plans to teach Ana crochet and said she would be buying the accessories needed. Ana was delighted to be around them despite her limited English.
However, I soon learned that Day and her mother were upset with Ana.While eating dinner that night, Day told me, "Ana needs to back off." I was taken aback and asked her what was wrong. She explained that while they were sitting in the living room, the baby began to cry in the bassinet, and Ana stood up and carried the baby, then asked her to make baby food.
Day was upset because she felt Ana had disrespected her and her mother by picking up the baby without permission and commanding her to prepare food. Another instance that bothered Day was when Ana stood over her while she was changing the baby's diaper, applying Vaseline.
I empathized with her and told her I would speak to Ana about it. After finishing my food, I talked to Ana about the allegations. Ana was shocked but apologized, explaining it was just a cultural norm in Africa for the community to help raise a child. I asked her to get permission from Day before carrying the baby, even though it felt strange to do so, and to refrain from interfering when Day was changing the baby. My mom said she wouldn't beg to carry her grandchild and decided she would avoid sitting with Day and my MIL to prevent any further offense.
The next day, Day came to me, visibly upset, stating her mother had cried because of the disrespect from Ana. I was alarmed, thinking this was a new incident, but it turned out to be the same issue from the previous day. Day began using profanity and stated that as long as Ana lived in the house, she would not find peace nor be allowed to carry the baby.
She even threatened to call the police if Ana made her mother cry again. I tried to calm the situation by stating that her mother was being manipulative and that she was being influenced by her, which upset Day even more.
For the next three days, Ana did not touch the baby but remained polite to my MIL and Day. Yesterday morning, I was holding the baby and needed to do a few chores around the house since Day was resting after watching the baby during the first shift. I took the baby to Ana upstairs to allow her some time with her granddaughter while I worked.
When Day realized I wasn't holding the baby, she was very upset, but she didn't say anything. Once I finished what I was doing, which took less than an hour, I went upstairs and took the baby from Ana, asked my MIL if she would like to hold her. She declined, so I took the baby to Day.
Today, I was trying to wash feeding bottles and asked my mom to help me hold the baby. She obliged, and once the baby started fussing, she asked me to bring her food. I did, and she began to feed her. When Day saw Ana feeding the baby, she was upset again and asked me if we hadn't gone to church yet. I told her no, as I was trying to finish washing the bottles. She proceeded to take the baby out of Ana's hands. Ana asked her if she could just finish feeding the baby, but Day didn't respond and just dragged the baby out of her hands.
I felt ashamed watching this play out in front of my eyes. I didn't say a word. I drove Ana to church and felt stunned and ashamed that I somehow played a role in all that had happened. Interestingly, Ana didn't even talk about the incident; instead, she talked about something completely unrelated to take our minds off the situation.I feel like my MIL is somewhat responsible for Day's behavior.
She will be leaving next week, but I'm already sick of having her close to me and my family. It is worth noting that my MIL has four siblings, and the three sisters among them have cut her off as well as Day due to her dramatic nature. My brother-in-law has been married twice and on both occasions did not inform my MIL and wife about it until three months after the fact.
Also, our wedding was quite unconventional as it was during COVID-19, and my family couldn't attend to meet my in-laws, and Day and my mother-in-law fought during that period which led to no contact between them for a year.
I have excused Day's behavior as postpartum stress, but this is wearing me out. I have lost about 10 pounds in the last three weeks.This cultural difference was something I was warned about by friends, but I didn't listen and thought love conquers all. Foolish me.As much as I love Day, I really can't stand her disrespect my mom and also preventing her from holding my child.
I fear this may lead to the worst happening to our relationship if this issue persists.I am already thinking of going for counseling with her, even though I know she might decline.
People of Reddit, how do you suggest I approach this issue?

I just ended a 4 year relationship (again) because she overstepped my boundaries. We have broken up multiple times in the time we were together for many reasons but the biggest recurring one was that her lack of self love lead to self destructive behaviors and I became the emotional caregiver very quickly. We would break up for a week and feel like everything is better now so we might as well get back together. Well last week was my last straw.
For context she was upset because we were talking about how her lack of self love shows up in the type of people she involves herself with and we talked about that for 3 hours (at work btw) . I told her that I am getting exhausted now from talking and was going to go home to shower. As I leave she says “well why is it weird now?” and i’m like “um i’m not sure I don’t feel weird why do you ?” and she says “okay” .. then i leave.
She then called my phone back to back 3 times as i’m pulling out the parking lot. This argument (?) dragged out the whole day and when we go home later that night it exploded.
Long story short, I tell her i’m going to go sit outside to regulate and she repeatedly invades my space. Even going so far as staring at me through the window in the door to watch me outside. She keeps opening the door yelling “what did i do to you!?!” “so you just have nothing to say!?!” “ do i really make you that uncomfortable!? (we had been arguing all day i’ve said plenty). She’s slamming doors and says she’s leaving the house since i want my space and I can have the house. I explain to her that it’s okay if she wants to go but I was planning to be outside anyways so she would just be leaving for her own reasons.
She repeatedly yells that she doesn’t know what to do with herself and is asking me how she’s supposed to get this feeling she has out of her body.. This whole time she cant tell me one thing I did wrong. She’s mad at herself.
It got to the point where i had to take a 45 minute shower because she wouldn’t leave me alone for a second otherwise. Even as i am falling asleep she’s repeatedly calling my name and getting aggravated that i’m not responding (i’m asleep..
(P.s. this is on the more normal side of her behavior, it was A LOT worse in the beginning of our relationship)
I guess i just want some validation that this behavior is not healthy and my decision is justified. I feel guilty because I feel like she will implode on herself without me but i’m so tired of that being my responsibility. We still live together so it’s been hard to not fantasize about if we just got past this.

Ok so I’m going to use real names because I could care less if they see this, but I genuinely want to know if I was in the wrong.
My (19 F) best friend, Taylor, of 4 years, had been talking crap about our mutual friend, (18 F) Peyton. Her and Peyton had been friends for 14 years, and Taylor would tell me about how abusive Peyton was and it was a conversation we had, and talked about for multiple hours, every time we hung out. However, it would seriously make me mad about what I was hearing and I wanted to call Peyton out on what she was doing, but Taylor made me promise to never say anything to Peyton cuz she was afraid she would try to hurt her.
Here’s a backstory on me, Peyton, and Taylor. I met Taylor through Peyton and became best friends with her not long after. But Taylor started to make me hate Peyton. Taylor had a horrible home life and faced homelessness 2x. She dropped out in 3rd grade, never got her GED, doesn’t have a drivers license, and can’t hold down a job. Knowing this, I paid for everything every time we hung out, but it was all worth it to me to know that I was helping her out and making her life “better” her words. In this time I spent around $7-8K on her.
Back to the story, I started dating this one guy who was bad news and that’s around the time things started changing for the worst. Taylor started role playing S/A, with her being the victim, on Red Dead Redemption, for hours with me in the room, knowing how extremely triggering that was for me. She would fake getting her paycheck and then ask us to go out, then I ended up paying for it with the money I don’t have. She also started telling me about stuff that Peyton was saying about me, regarding my recent trauma and mental illness, but what caught my attention is that I never told Peyton about that stuff, which made me super confused. I asked her to stop telling me about what Peyton was saying about me on multiple occasions, but she persisted in telling me every little detail about how “I’m borderline, which means I’m abusive and manipulative and I will hurt her.” Around then I actually had a pretty good grip on my mental state and rarely ever got mad(Taylor was never there, and I hadn’t had an episode in over 3 years).
I got tired of hearing about it so I texted Peyton, for the first time in almost 2 years as we had drifted apart after the stuff Taylor was saying about her. I asked her to stop talking bad about me to Taylor, or to at least loosen up a bit about it, and then she told me the most guy wrenching truth.
She told me that Taylor was telling her I tried to kill her, used her for money, mentally and emotionally abused her, and a bunch more of stuff. I was completely heartbroken. So I told what she was saying about Peyton, and what she was saying about her was pretty much the same thing she was telling Peyton about me. But Peyton completely disregarded what I was saying and told me she hoped I succumbed to my mental illness and died.
Next thing I did was text Taylor, I just wanted to have a talk with her, since the stuff she was saying about me was pretty recent, as she had never talked about me before this time, I thought that maybe she was going thru something. But she basically accused me of trying to ruin her friendship with Peyton and how bad of a friend I am. She called me a cold hearted wh*re and I realized I wasn’t going to get thru to her so I told her we shouldn’t be friends anymore and blocked her. It’s been over a year and it still bothers me, did I do the right thing? AITAH?

As of the mention of my mental issues, the first and only time I ever raged, or got aggressive, around Taylor was when she was getting sexually assaulted right in front of me by an older guy, maybe in his 50s, in their apartment pool. I broke his nose and I grabbed her and ran as fast as I could. This was 2 hours after she was roleplaying rape in front of me in a video game. What I didn’t know is she was intentionally staying in the pool after I asked her multiple times if she wanted to get out while he was trying to touch her, which he progressively got worse every attempt. After the fact she told me she was staying just so she could see if I would get mad.

hi, i am 42 and i feel all i have in my life is my job and my parents of whom i live with.
i have no children or family or my own, and this failing has been eating away at me. tried to do something about it but nothing availed (career? string of dead end jobs. women? never reply or can ever get close to on a personal level). after my grandmum died a few weeks ago i really do begin to feel the clock ticking and this anxiety and worry, i dont know if thats a midlife crisis.
all i know, this is not just an episode of being 'down in the dumps'. its been something i feel its been growing inside me for years - not in my head, but feeling it from my gut. i'm starting to feel it interrupting my job. my get up and go has got up has gone. i just dont feel like working even though the rational part of me forces myself to just do it. i dont know if i have depression but lately i am in this state where i just dont feel like doing anything and i am just unhappy.
i used to be a gamer in my 30s as a hobby, but i havent even touched my ps5 for over 6 months. i've sold all my games. i just lost the will to play.
i have been seeing a counsellor for 11 years in trying to 'get help' (as everyone keeps saying) but i feel its done hardly anything for me. she has aspired me to do travelling to get out my comfort zone and meet people, which i have done. but thats it. even travelling is becoming meaningless now because i am constantly in this state of preoccupation. i know after a big holiday i'll never see those people again even if they add me on facebook or not (and when they don't, it hurts).
people say talk to friends and family. i have no real friends. never have. when i was a little boy in school, i was bullied. in secondary school i got focused on my studies thinking that eventually, a degree would unlock a life of fabulous riches. but i eventually learned the hard way with years of unemployment that it wasnt, back then. i tried reaching out to people, online via a facebook group, but it descended to insults and hurtful remarks that left me banned and made me punched the wall. my family doesnt know about my feelings, becaise from what i have seen, mental health is seen as taboo. they'll just admonish me, shout me down, tell me to get a grip. i cant really talk to them because they're going to deny theres a problem. and i dont want to break their hearts, especially my parents. i rather soak the pain than bring them in it. i love them too much to see them feel hurt for me.
social groups - when going out, if its not work or a family function, i largely have social anxiety. i so badly want to meet women and get a girlfriend, who hopefully becomes my wife and eventual mother to my kids and form my new family, but i just seem incapable of it. i just cant get close to a woman at that personal and intimate level. if i try, it results in failure and embarassment. at the rare times i did try, it just doesnt come out right. i once went to salsa dancing class in a big city nearby, trying to talk to women, but the anxiety was so overwhelming, i couldnt breathe, and thought i was going to have a heart attack, i had to get out of there. i never been back since. i dont even go to pubs. i think about women more and more - even women i wasnt attracted to at first, drives me crazy now. i remember when leaving a job to move to another, a lady colleague i worked alot with hugged me, and it felt unlike anything i felt before. it was amazing. the softness, the warmth, the care...its as if i was missing that my whole life. i was close to crying. i want to experience true closeness, and intimacy.
thats not to say i'm a virgin. i lost my virginity at 30 to an escort; that was a unsatisfying experience as even then i had anxiety and couldnt perform properly - i did it because i didnt wanted to be the '30 year old virgin'. i just cant seem to get close with women. i tend to obsess about them. my instagram feed is full of attractive women. seeing beautiful ones on tv, even if its just the weather girl or news reader, it drives me nuts. in my job, i work with journalists, and theres many women there. i can talk to them confidently and easily, IF ITS ABOUT WORK. the instances i tried to talk about life in trying to get to know them and get close to them, the barrier goes up. i can tell because they wont add me on fb or whatever. i just cant seem to hack it with women. no woman = no wife = no mother to my children = no family of my own = no legacy.
i appreciate some might say not having family should not mean one is a failure. however, as much as i tried to ignore it, i come from a culture whereby family trumps everything else - money, career, hobbies, everything. i been ignoring it for years. trying to chase a career, which ended up as a string of dead end temporary jobs. losing 15 years of my life to this, living from temp job to temp job, and going to over 200 job interviews in getting secure employment, enduring hundreds of devastating rejections. but, years later, i now have at least job security, which is most important, but am beginning to feel the limit of my pay. trying to chase a career, spending nights throughout the 2010s playing video games and enjoying my gaming career in that, playing adventure games...but now i have reached a point where i've 'run out' of games to play and nothing (except maybe gta6) will interest me in picking up a controller again. i've grown out of it, it seems. i even been travelling more too - i travel far, and so big holidays. from usa, to africa, to europe, to india, and soon to be going to australia... doing all sorts of holidays from cruises, ranch holidays, safari, hiking, group road trips, wildlife conservation volunteering, sailing the mediterrarian - grand, amazing experiences that does suspend my worries... but in the end, i keep coming back to them, this feeling of emptiness.
my big fear is seeing my parents get older and dying from a broken heart caused by me. my dad worked in construction but is retired and now freelances, and he tends to hurt himself in accidents as he gets clumsy. my mother works in a school. i have always lived with my family except during the years i was at university. i feel my mum and dad are my 'best friends' - sad as it sounds -and the thought of them both going to die somepoint in the future, fills me with dread. because i feel i have failed them, in not continuing the family line. failing to secure a legacy for us. to keep us all going, surviving through the next generation. when i think about it deeply, our bloodline has been passed down for thousands of years, surviving through all sorts such as wars, plagues, and revolutions. i feel compelled to continue it, as if its a duty, and i dont want my parents to die with their last thoughts being disappointment. i can see it in my dads eyes already, the sadness. he wants to play with his grandchildren, but he has none, and all his friends shows off their grandkids. similarly with me, i see people i went to school with, and ex-colleagues i used to work with...they all have kids and a house of their own and a car. i have none of that. i stand NO chance buying a house of my own as i simply can't afford it, and renting will be throwing my money away living on other peoples crap. i said to my parents i want to inherit this home when they go, because my memories are here. my history. our family memories. my happy childhood memories, growing up, the birthdays, playing with my brother, my parents, the fun times growing up, coming back from school, doing homework, watching football together on the TV in the 90s, our first pc, all of it. all of these amazing experiences back then, i love to go through again, but this time with my own kids, seeing them grow up, playing with toys, drawing, having a first pet, etc...to navigate life with them as a father, and teaching them what i believe is required to be a good person.
before you say it, i'm not just doing it for my parents. i want a family for myself. i feel if i failed to have children, failed to find someone who loves me, failed to have any friends, failed to have had any influence or imprint on the world nomatter how small - i actually feel i'm not part of this world. to quote ellie from the last of us, my life would not have 'fkn mattered'. its as if i am a 'watcher', if that makes sense, not part of the fabric of this world and civilisation. watching it all from a window. that'll lead me to questions like why i am i here, leading to a probable, and painful, full-on existential crisis. when its my parents' time, when they grow old and die, and if i'm left all alone, i dont think i'd want to live anymore. i'm praying to find something. of course, i know i have to DO something, but my mind draws a blank. i cant ignore what my body is telling me anymore. but then, i step outside the house, and i dont know what to do, socially. when i approach someone, i get anxiety attacks. in my town, people are aggressive - its also possible if i approach a woman here i might end up getting assaulted, shouted at or shamed. sometimes theres no place to really go as i live in a small town. and as you get older, its harder to make friends, as people already have their established circles. i even remember my ex-manager talking to colleagues about this when we had a drink once and she asked 'how do you meet people' even though shes in her 50s and has established family and friends - indeed. how, for those who do not.
for coping, some people elsewhere suggested exercising. this is something i tend to do, but perhaps not enough of. i like to go on walks. theres a public park where i go and feed the ducks. seeing animals makes me happy. when the baby ducks swim to me wanting the kibble food it makes me feel wanted. i love animals. from dogs, cats and ducks - to even wild animals like the tigers i saw in india. i also did some hiking holidays, including going through some american national parks like yosemite, where i saw a family of bears at a distance. travelling is something i like to do too - in fact, i have more 'big' holidays coming up in usa again (alaska this summer), then australia, europe (croatia), the canadian rockies and maybe south america. i do these trips to get that out-of-body, 'blown away' feeling, of being thrilled, alive, and enjoying and experiencing life. it does help. but travelling is expensive. i'm not made of money.
all i want, is my own family..

So recently my relationship has felt very cold and quiet. Ive been with my girlfriend for about a year now and the past month or two things have just been mundane and lackluster. At first everything was great, she was cool, holds down a job, helps me with my house, very loyal, great intimacy, everything I wanted in a women. She had some traumatic things happen to her in her childhood that kinda makes her hate most men. Because of these traumatic things our intimacy has gone completely nonexistent over the last 2 months. I don't hold this against her nor is it a deal breaker for me, however, more recently she's also become cold and distant toward me. We don't have those warm conversations or spend much quality time together anymore. We started living together more prematurely than what most people but from the beginning we had a good balance. I've owned my home for a couple years now and its far larger than I need for just me so when she started moving in after only a month or two, it didn't really bother me. I was happy not to be alone in this house anymore. I cover all the bills for the house, food expenses, and basically all of our life needs. She does most of the housework but I still try and do my fair share although it is less than her. Being the financial backbone doesn't bother me, I'm blessed to live as comfortably as I do. and, I'd rather her put her income into her bills like her Car, phone, and Insurance expenses as well as her lavish purchases. Basically I say all this just to give the dynamic of our relationship to you readers as best as I can.
Recently, we've just been disconnected from each other. I've tried to talk about this with her but she really just gets defensive and shuts down on me. She also hasn't really felt comfortable with me touching her in any endearing way like a hug. Which is understandable considering her tragic past. The only conversations that seem to mean anything to her is when she asks me for money for a bill she's behind on, or gas money, or money for a vape. Not only is there a clear lack of communication and intimacy, We also have very different religious beliefs. I'm a devout follower of Christ and she's more agnostic. Again that's not a deal breaker for me, I don't demand her worship to Christ just as she doesn't impose her spiritual beliefs on me, however, I believe my religion has in some way caused her to lose respect for me which I don't understand.
I would be lying if at times I didn't feel as though I was being used for my home and comfortable financial situation. Part of me believes that she's with me because she loves me, and the other part believes that she's scared to leave me because she financially cant.
To the point I've made earlier about how she hates most men, I feel like I've become another man who she looks at with distain simply because I'm a man. So what I'm asking are a few things, Am I going to get anywhere trying? Is it better for the both of us to go our separate ways? Is there an alternative that Im not seeing? Any advice or comment I would appreciate greatly. Thank You
