Hi everyone,
I was let go from my graphic design position today, I had to call my boss because she called me on my off hours. She was very enthusiastic when I started interviewing and working with her and her lead designer. My boss wasn’t the lead designer she was the business owner but I was to report to lead designer.
Before I got hired I was asked to do a β€œcreative evaluation β€œ and I had to make promotional materials for some event coming up. First red flag for me.
When I was hired she was letting me know that she really enjoyed my work but then she started asking me to design the front of house area. Not like flyer or promotional material, like the fixtures in the bakery. She was confusing at times, and the lead designer and I were talking and the lead designer said that she doesn’t think that the business owner knows what she’s looking for or what she wants
My last day was yesterday and I was asked to provide my templates I’d made. The last designer was there apparently a month, I asked the cake decorators why he left and they said β€œcreative differences” but yeah.
Now I’m hurt but I’m trying to figure out what I do now in terms of looking at design jobs. I don’t have a degree in design but I’m trying to finish my degree so I’ve been taking on multiple jobs.
How have y’all dealt with clients who might not know what they want? What are some of the red flags to look for in job postings? I feel like most places seem so good on paper and they’re not. How long did it take for y’all to find a job you enjoy?

Hello,
Basically the title. I have educational inventor subscription and I have been using inventor both professionally and academically for nearly 10 years.
This is the first time I am having such problem. Whenever trying to open or creating a new file the app crashes immediately and it wants to send a crash report.
Here is what I tried
The interesting thing is it was actually working the first couple of days I have been using it. The problem started after 2-3 days. But I don't remember doing anything specific that would cause this.
I am using avast antivirus.
I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas to fix that.

Thanks for hanging in there through the 3 patch releases trying to fix the new Kern import feature. There were more edge cases than anticipated. In v2.2.0, we also added additional font import test coverage, so hopefully we'll be able to better catch these issues in the future!

That's the big news for version 2.2.0. There isn't any new or changed UI features, but this back-end improvement will really help all of you working with SVG (which, to be honest, is like most of you). This new capability is built off a recent improvement by our sister project, SVG to Bezier, which is what we use to (you guessed it) convert SVG tags into generic path outlines. For the past, oh, 14 years of Glyphr Studio history, importing SVG tags was limited to just the basic tag data itself, ignoring the transform attribute. For the most part this was okay, not many graphic design editors (like Adobe Illustrator) export their SVG with transform attributes. But, they would show up now and then, and they would cause imported shapes in Glyphr Studio to fail or not look like they were intended.
Specifically, we now support both the transform and the transform-origin attribute tags. The transform attribute has many options for transformation commands, and we now support all of these different types of transformations: matrix, translate, scale, rotate, skewX, skewY.
Along with these new transform capabilities, we grew our set of test SVG files to try to ensure all single cases and combinations of transformations result in shapes that are as expected. 2024.05.16 12:17 _Katu What is the cheapest way to get out of this bottleneck situation?

Hiyo. I bought my computer ages ago and back then it was able to run all the games I wanted (assassin's creed odyssey ran just fine). I broke the video card (thats on me) and bought a new, higher performance one. I also bought new SSD.
Nowadays even 15 year old games have weird lags, Not video lags, but more like.. sometimes it feels like the PC has to calculate too many things at once and craps itself . AC Odyssey doesnt even run anymore and even League of Legends is unplayable because it just doesnt responds to my inputs for half a second every 3 seconds.
Task manager shows the CPU is at nearly 100% usage which concerned me. I talked to multiple people and they all said my CPU is "bottlenecking" my PC . I had no idea what it meant. I assumed it is because the video card is a better one but I dont really understand how it is real that i buy a better video card and suddenly games just shit themselves.
Anyway , obviously I'd like to run some games since half of my PC is definitely capable. I dont mind turning the graphic settings down (already did). I am afraid I'm gonna have to buy another CPU and perhaps an SSD as well since it is almost full and I heard that can be a bottlenecking problem also
so here are my specs:
MB: ASRock H81M-VG4 (2 DIMM slots) CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3101 Mhz Ram: 16 (2x8) GB DDR3 @ 1333 Mhz VGU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti ssd: one 112 GB as a boot and one 466 gb for the games (this is a 128 and an 500 gb I assume) power : Corsair VS550 -550W
The PC was assembled by me so I might have made mistakes during it, but all I can think of is applying thermal paste wrong which I assume can lead to the processor shitting itself over time. The Pc worked for years just fine however. Once I had to disassemble it for transport and during it the video card broke, but as I said the new one outlined above should be better. I do not remember which model was the old one. The problems started a few months after I put in the new video card.
I should note that non-intensive tasks such as watching YouTube or Netflix or typing this post, or just 25 year old games like diablo 2 work just fine.
So what do I do now, do I just buy a bigger SSD and a better CPU? or is there a cheaper way? Perhaps buy a worse video card? or something else? The goal is run AC Odyssey, LEague of Legends, and Path of Exile without any fuss (and as I said, dont care which graphic settings)
