2024.05.17 09:10 dont-touch-my-kokoro Regarding her situation and just explaining my opinion

Regarding her situation and just explaining my opinion
Firefly is a great character. She is 100% designed for Break for the upcoming Break Meta. The only problem she has is her team building, right? Right. Because right now she is VERY different to the other dps just because she is solely for Break. You can't put her on any team without HMC just because of her Kit revolving around Break Effect, that's the problem, HMC is the new support for the new mechanic and of the Break Meta, there is no one else like HMC yet so she is very limited to what Team she can be placed unlike the other DPS that are completely tied to Crit as their main damage, in the future I'm sure we'll see a new character that replaces HMC. She is the first Break DPS character so let her just be HER. She isn't like DHIL, JL, Kafka, FuA units that need certain characters that are already out and can be adjusted everytime, she only has HMC, let the game continue on evolving and giving us more options for damage not instantly just killing it just because 1 character doesn't use Crit as the main basis for damage. She might get changed this V3 but I'm pretty sure she'd stay a Break Character judging by the new SU blessings specifically meant for her, or she might get a Super Break on her own or even a 100% Crit rate and dmg to a Weakness Broken enemy just so she can be put on the existing teams.

2024.05.17 01:19 Chyaroscuro Episode 2.9 - Part 1 of Lady Mary Crawley being iconic for 45 minutes straight: when you've spent all season in repression mode and suddenly the system's broken

Me: Wouldn't it be fun to wait to post this in the summer so you can say happy Christmas in July for once? Also me: that's a terrible joke. Just publish the thing.
Apologies for publishing in 2 parts. I'm not trying to drag it out I'm just aware this is the length of 2 episodes, reddit will only allow me 20 pics per post, and there's just too much going on for our beloved idiot in this one, so. I'm pacing myself.
It's not Christmas in July, it's Christmas 1919 at Downton and I spent an embarrassing amount of time wondering if Mr Fellowes really wants me to believe that the Crawleys decorated the Goliath of Christmas trees themselves (they didn't, but I like that Mary was sipping her tea and offering her view on things. Queen👑 ).
Plus, the setup for this episode intro had an actual checklist:
Tree? Check
Family arriving? Check
Violet judging this year's Christmas cards and looking for the contenders for worst cards of the year (they judge them on both content, and actual card)? Check
https://preview.redd.it/ul3aegl7cv0d1.jpg?width=710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c86f2409e193f7f68461f9ca06c72c7c424af66
Anna gets a gold heart brooch from Mary and Mrs Hughes is as excited about it as she is. Also, I can see the inspo for the entire Anna/Mary tag on AO3 right here. And Mrs Hughes ships it.
Just kidding, Bates is in prison, and we're all very sad.
https://preview.redd.it/wxhn89x9cv0d1.jpg?width=710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04d813b9202a58a7c31f35d6b398bb6d53ced28b
Carlisle is wondering why the Crawleys are being kind to their servants by letting them have some time off at lunchtime on Christmas Day, and I'm wondering if anyone (namely, us, the viewers) is supposed to be surprised by his behaviour.
I mean, blackmailing Lavinia just because? Blackmailing Mary into an engagement with him? Trying to manipulate Anna and Carson? Being physically abusive to Mary, and trying to control her life and behaviour? Bringing Lavinia back to "sacrifice" her to a lifetime as Matthew's nurse, so Mary won't spend that much time with Matthew (not because there was something off about that, just that Carlisle didn't want her to)?
He is an asshole. He was an asshole. He will always be an asshole. Glad we're finally all on the same page.
https://preview.redd.it/9liw4xiffv0d1.jpg?width=599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c42f7ad05949a4b2d705057fa92af48030b7c46
Matthew and Mary are exchanging presents behind Robert's head in one scene and I'm very upset by it. Please, if anyone has any ideas, submit what you think they got each other for Christmas.
If you need any inspiration, here's what people would buy each other as presents in the 1920s according to the British Newspaper Archives:
Lots of cigarette paraphernalia Cocktails Banjos PENCILS Dance Frocks Shaving Kits Vacuum Cleaners
Keep that list in mind if you're disappointed with your presents next year.
https://preview.redd.it/9y1mgw5fcv0d1.jpg?width=996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc993eeff4617e298b7ab85b9c8266ac3f683942
Matthew got a telephone call telling him that Mr Swire is very ill, and he will got to London to visit him. Mary gives him some condolences and he says "I'm sorry if I'm casting a gloom". I have a feeling the poor man had been pretty depressed for quite long, probably perked up a bit for Christmas and thought he was bringing the mood down again, but Mary responds with compassion. Oh Matthew.
Carlisle saw Mary go after Matthew in the hall, to ask about Mr Swire, and literally took his newspaper with him and followed her out there because that's completely normal behaviour. Just picture the ridiculousness of it: Mary and Matthew talking about Mr Swire and Bates' trial, romantic themes that they are, and Carlisle is so annoyed by it he's standing there in the background. Reading a newspaper, just to make sure they know he's still around (who could forget, mate).
Also, Mary saying she'll attend Bates' trial to support Anna, and Matthew immediately going "Would you like me to go with you?". Because of course he wants to support Mary in all things.
And this is Matthew's first villainous act for the episode: He asks Carlisle "or will YOU do that?" as in, since you're here, will you be supporting Mary in this endeavour.
Of course he isn't. Carlisle could never understand the concept of being there as emotional support for a Servant. He can't even understand why one would give a servant a few hours off on Christmas Day.
And just like that, Matthew scores one point in showcasing that Carlisle is a waste of space.
Matthew's Villainy points so far: 1
https://preview.redd.it/m927qezhcv0d1.jpg?width=996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de05e12b244424e5fe126c6be6bab3597c83549b
Btw, Matthew has a few sets of looks reserved for Carlisle: Derision, derision, and more derision.
https://preview.redd.it/ujldjjrkcv0d1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a4e7e1312a82e1632254aff103056c775a33db4
They're playing charades (aka The Game), Mary is mimicking falling down, Matthew has a front row seat to it, and they're not playing on the same team so she can't rely on him to guess. Which means he can sit back and have the time of his life.
Carlisle complains about not liking the game and I'm left to wonder why he wanted that life so much since he could find nothing to enjoy in it.
https://preview.redd.it/kqzfvl2ncv0d1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7f333dbc8c9eed822751ed352061d4b13db1bdc
Mary IS still trying with him, however. He complains again on New Years Eve about the servants having some time off, and she reasons that it only happens twice a year, and he complains again that she doesn't understand because she didn't have to work for what she has.
Fellowes finally does the work on these two. I was having a conversation with another user recently, who was wondering why Mary picked Carlisle when she could have picked someone like Evelyn Napier.
Let's forget the Pamuk Scandal for a moment. Mary clearly wanted something more other than a traditional marriage. When we meet her, she's 21. She already has a husband in her pocket, if all she wanted was a position in society and a title, she'd have already been married to Patrick in 1912. But clearly, she wanted more out of life than to be someone's wife.
She wanted love, and she wanted to have something to do, whatever that was. She would have found both in Matthew, if things hadn't gone to complete shit, so why not consider Carlisle (back when he seemed normal)?
He was a working, self-made man, so he was interesting to her. He wasn't the run-of-the-mill rich boy she'd been exposed to her entire life, and if she married him she'd have a job in establishing him in London society and helping him build his empire. She'd Work, in short. She'd be allowed to use her brain.
But they don't match. At all. He offered her a marriage of convenience, and then was upset that she loved someone else, when Carlisle never offered her love in the first place. She wanted to be able to go about her life, he wanted her under his thumb to do his bidding. She was raised to have a certain respect for other people (e.g. the servants in the house), he thought that because he had money he could do whatever the fuck he wanted.
In short, they don't work together. Not even taking into account he was blackmailing her with a scandal, and Matthew was off stage left being Villainous (according to Carlisle. Villain, Perseus, it's all a matter of perspective.)
https://preview.redd.it/66o2xicrcv0d1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08b375552f410b51f6721f18e06c39fd7d96c2dc
I love how they contrast Carlisle's ruthlessness with Matthew's compassion (and look how she looks up to him). Because Matthew is also a working man, but he's kind. And even though he didn't have any connection to mr Swire anymore, he stood by him in his hour of need, to the bitter end.
Speaking of contrasting Carlisle's assholery to Matthew:
https://preview.redd.it/knzqdmuscv0d1.jpg?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b460bc357599894b0e91b83ecac22c8c099cc4e8
Rosamund's WhatsHisFace of a suitor points out there's only three women following the shoot, and they should divide their time between the men taking part in said shoot (God forbid women are not around to entertain these assholes gents). Carlisle immediately rebuffs him before Mary can get a word in, saying "Lady Mary will stand by ME". Mary is about to, very politely, put him in his place, when Matthew comes in for his second act of Villainy so far, saying "I thought you said you'd stand by me for the first shoot, isn't that what you said?"
He doesn't push her to go with him, he's just giving her an exit plan. So that Mary doesn't have to bring herself in an awkward position in front of all those people, to defend her right to an opinion. And Mary takes it. Of course she does. She can show Carlisle he doesn't get to dictate what she does, and do so in a way that doesn't create gossip.
Matthew's Villainy points so far: 2
https://preview.redd.it/ww46vti4dv0d1.jpg?width=676&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5eb3675bcc56f627c425424bf43ece5f994e4ae5
Look how he looks at her. He's so happy she took him up on it. Whatever else happened beyond this, they were friends. He cared for her, and she cared for him. And he has her back here, and she accepted it, so easily. And that made him happy (and so, so smug. A true Villain).
https://preview.redd.it/1fzkc8n5dv0d1.jpg?width=560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96c18b3b6203ddaebccedf3173fa4d0bb7c87619
She loves how un-selfconscious he is. She's always loved it, all those years ago at the flower show when he'd mock himself for her benefit, to make her laugh. He does it here still but now she's not surprised by it, just endlessly fond. Dozens of men spent years showing off their (probably mediocre) skills, to win her favour, and of course she'd fall for the guy who was just being honest. Mary likes honesty, she never got much of it. Her world is a show of mirrors where nothing is what it seems, and it must have been so refreshing to be with someone who was exactly what he showed the world. It's only sad that it took her so long to realise that just as she loved him for who he was, he'd do the same. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
"He does rather beg to be teased" - this asshole has been deliberately messing with Carlisle for ages, hasn't he. I've only counted 2 Villainy points, but I bet he earned himself dozens before. Whenever he'd get pissed off at something Carlisle said he'd just whisk Mary away, just to show him that he could. Even if Carlisle was the fiance, Matthew was still an important person in her life, and he'd always be, and he made sure Carlisle knew that (and took great, great enjoyment in it).
Mary: The awful truth is, he’s starting to get on my nerves. Still, you’re not the person to burden with that.
Matthew: You’re still going to marry him, though.
Mary: Of course. Why wouldn’t I.
Matthew is not happy about this. He appears to not understand it, and I wish I could give him a a nice shake. Regardless of the information he doesn't have, Matthew, mate, it's not like she hasn't met other men. Like it or not, most of your lot back in the day belonged in the bin.
And Mary, as a high-society woman, didn't have a lot of options. She had to get married. And at least Carlisle wanted to buy Haxby, she'd be near her family, spend time in London. Before she'd have hoped to actually get some work done, within the capacity her marriage would allow her, but with things being as they are with Carlisle I think she's now hoping he'd be busy with his work and she could get on with her days and maybe not see much of him, as most couples of their class did. And that's not taking into account the actual reason why Mary thinks she absolutely Must marry Carlisle.
https://preview.redd.it/5u0162z7dv0d1.jpg?width=560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=792e7b9d4ab2bad74d90c90aea70b51766e0eb66
Also, Matthew, let's not pretend you'd like any man she brought home. So either take a deep breath and confess some things, or get on with it.
Carlisle asks Mary why she and Matthew were laughing together. He asks "Am I never to be free of him?" and her answer is, of course not. Because, of course not.
First of all, sorry to say Richard, but, they're a package deal. I can't see either one of them giving up the other willingly, not after all this. But of course, the main thing is the aristocracy thing. He's the head of the family, you'll see A Lot of Matthew, if you and Mary get married. And Matthew has spent almost every minute of the episode so far making sure Richard knows this. One would say, he's trying to push him out (like a villain), through his sheer presence in Mary's life.
"I might understand if you let me think for a solitary minute that you preferred my company to his."
Here's another problem: He should know, this wasn't part of their terms. Of course, he's not an aristocrat, so he's not aware of how loveless marriages of convenience work, but since it WAS a loveless marriage of convenience he was offering, I wonder why THE FUCK, he demands her attention now.
Mary would perform her duty to him. She'd be the best hostess London ever saw. She'd be the pretty wife on his arm, and she'd charm his contacts, and she'd be the stepping stone for him to be accepted in aristocratic circles, and she'd give him children and hold his house. And yes, she'd love spending time with her family, and that included Matthew.
Richard is just being a petty, controlling, fuck. Because he wants more than she's willing to offer, and he wants more than what he'd originally asked. So he, can shove it.
https://preview.redd.it/4gr6ycqldv0d1.jpg?width=854&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eeb0c9806c1b0fc1830c35c63510ee879ce480eb
Richard: I’ve done everything I can to please you.
Mary: Do you mean you bought a large and rather vulgar house?
Richard: You cannot talk to me like that! What have I done to deserve it? What?!
Would you like a list of your crimes, Richard? I've posted it a bit further above.
Also, Mary. She was hoping he'd offer her an interesting life (before he turned out to be an asshole). But all he's offered so far is the same old bullshit she's been offered all her life: A big empty (emotionless) house. A demanding husband. A life full of constraints and limitations, set to her by a husband who expects to dictate everything she does.
It's at this point that Matthew, clearly the villain of the story, shows up because he hears Richard yelling at Mary and that just won't do.
My beloved idiot covers for Richard here. And she does it because of something she said to Matthew before "He's starting to get on my nerves, but you're not the person to burden with that."
She doesn't want Matthew to feel like he has to come to her rescue. She heard him, when he told her they can't be together (many times) in the previous episodes. And she loves him, so she's let him be. She knows he's got his own troubles, that he's been through a lot, and that shows with how she watches him walk away with a fair bit of worry in her eyes. Plus, she doesn't want him to do anything for her out of obligation. She just wants them to be friends, and friends don't solve your marital (or, in this case, pre-marital) problems. They can provide comedic relief, and support, but that's about it.
And as we said, Matthew is clearly the villain of this story.
Speaking of which, Matthew interrupted Richard's yelling at Mary so, I guess that means - Matthew's Villainy points so far: 3

Speaking of friends: Matthew will be there, for Mary (and Anna) at Bates' trial, and Mary asks to be there when he brings back Mr Swire's ashes, since the man wanted to be buried next to his daughter (who had to be buried at Downton, and not near her home in London, for maximum guilt-trip points I guess).
I love how those two care, and support each other in difficult times. It IS what friends do. Of course, Carlisle is not happy about that either. And listen, if he was in love with Mary, I'd be very understanding. I'd be telling him to cut his losses and run. I'd be empathising. But I'm like, you've been an absolute tool for years now mate, how am I supposed to see your POV, when you're basically worrying that if those two, at some point, get their heads out of their asses and realise they make a great couple, you'll lose your trophy wife you've trapped in a marriage, through sheer luck (on your end).
https://preview.redd.it/p22mkkf2ev0d1.jpg?width=1014&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11b4ff6babc4055d8848aa1ac476cb316b895aea
Carlisle, after that entire day of watching Mary and Matthew having a nice time out with the family, pressures Mary to set a wedding date. Mary wants to wait, I guess she hopes for some godly intervention because she definitely doesn't see any other way out of her current situation, and he goes so far as to literally grab her, and in front of her family too.
I'm finally not the only one who wants to shoot him dead. Of course, Robert won't do anything about it because when has Robert ever done anything for Mary (so far), but Matthew looks tempted.
(I had to cut out poor Carson because there's too many people on this frame as it is, but shout out to him for also worriedly watching in the background).
https://preview.redd.it/fqbegn84ev0d1.jpg?width=616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5a0cd6028ee2a087f7b928f4fe2f99e9288e350
Matthew: Mary. Can I help?
Mary: After today, I won’t insult you by asking what you mean.
Matthew: You don’t have to marry him, you know. You don’t have to marry anyone. You’ll always have a home here as long as I’m alive.
First of all, I LOVE, that his reaction was to ignore Carlisle, run after Mary, and ask her if he can help. He's not offering to be a saviour. Mary doesn't need one of those (she does need to find that steel in her spine though). But he's offering to support her, and he says it in a way that implies he'd do pretty much anything she asked (Do you want to poison him? I'll help carry him to the pigs pen).
Second of all, Matthew, you absolute Idiot.
Mary supporting you in your grief, you supporting her with Bates' trial, that's normal friend behaviour.
You telling her she can LIVE with you forever, and so she doesn't have to Marry Any Man, is so, so dumb.
What is she going to live with you as, Matthew? Your cousin again? Where is the cousinl-y behaviour line drawn? Private dinners? Maybe with some candles and soft music? Holidays in Europe together?
Also, where is that imaginary limit you've put to your happiness with her for the sake of Lavinia's (very real, according to canon) ghost, mate?
You clearly seem happy enough to spend time with Mary, support her, laugh with her. Is it just the romance that's killing your mood?
Is it that that's the harshest punishment Matthew could imagine, spending his life next to Mary without actually spending his life WITH her, or is it that in spite of how much he wanted to suffer for his mistake, he just couldn't bring himself to cut ties entirely? Or is it that her happiness was more important than his self-imposed martyrdom, so he couldn't keep himself away and let her throw away her life for God knows what (her own mistake, is the answer, because they both like making themselves suffer for past sins. They've got A LOT in common).
https://preview.redd.it/wj0h1638ev0d1.jpg?width=616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c44b9cd8749c955e7306d70f0995589bc9d940c2
Mary: Didn’t the war teach you never to make promises? And anyway, you’re wrong. I do have to marry him.
Matthew: But why? Not to prove you’ve broken with me, surely? We know where we stand. We’ve no need for...gestures.
Mary: If I told you the reason, you’d despise me, and that I really couldn’t bear.
She makes me so sad. She's so certain she'll be ruined and kicked out of her house if the scandal ever came out.
And I get it. It was how she'd been raised. And all she's heard so far is how she's "a slut" and "damaged goods" and Mary's self-image is in tatters. She doesn't view herself as anyone worth fighting for, she doesn't want anyone else to fight for her, and she won't even fight for herself, and to me that's the saddest part of all.
She's entirely defeated, has been for a long time. This entire season. She's taken every blow and hasn't dodged them at all. Welcoming Lavinia, accepting Matthew as a friend and nothing more. Being by his side when he got injured, taking care of him and accepting his rejection without a peep. Listening to him announce his wedding and helping Lavinia plan it. Baring herself to Carlisle, giving him "the tools to destroy her", willingly, to salvage the family name, and to help Bates. And later letting Matthew call her, and himself "cursed", and walking away from it, somehow. Probably because she believes it.
https://preview.redd.it/qit578gnev0d1.jpg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=051641f1ae8d012e74d70975b12d71852fa2cfbe
She told Carson, after Pamuk died, that "she knows what it means to be happy, but she knows she herself will never be happy" and she has proved to have embraced that sentiment, fully. Her despair back then is reflected here. Mary is not looking for happiness. She's just looking for cover. Some place where she can be sure she won't be hurt anymore.
She didn't believe that would be in a marriage with Matthew, and Matthew's strict morals so far, and his own self-hatred, have only further proven to her that she had been correct. She thinks that if Matthew can't excuse himself a kiss with a woman he loved, he won't ever excuse her having sex with a man she didn't love. And for all the unhappiness, all the cold comfort she sees in her future, she at least has his friendship. And how could she ever risk losing that? What would she be left with? Who else is there in the world, that supports her like he has? Her mother, who brought back Lavinia to push her away from Matthew? Her father? Who values the family above all else? Nothing. And no one. Just Matthew.
So she can bear Carlisle's cruelty, his moods and his demands. And she can bear the thought of living life on his arm to be paraded around London society for his benefit. But she can't bear the thought of Matthew thinking ill of her. Can't bear having him look at her the way her mother, or her sister did. And she's so honest here in her pain. She hasn't shown any of it, of the backloads of it, to anyone other than Anna, all season. But she can't keep it in now, after all that, in front of Matthew.
My poor broken child 💔
https://preview.redd.it/ml433re9ev0d1.jpg?width=802&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5f5814e774f11d8fcacc5f3490403708a95937e
She hears Cora yell her name and there's despair in her eyes. Even now she has family obligations to fulfil, so whatever emotional breakthrough she could have made, gets interrupted because heaven forbid she's not there for the Crawleys to play card games with.
Before I forget, Matthew goes after Mary, hoping to help her in her hour of need therefore, Matthew's Villainy points so far: 4
Matthew directs that accusatory look to Cora and I'm so proud of him for that. Cora's involvement in Mary's life has been nothing short of catastrophic. With her only saving grace being the fact that she wasn't actually willing to throw her daughter out of her house. I don't know how she gets to be so worried about the situation now, considering it's, largely, of her own making.
This whole season has been about pain and loss, in its various forms. And Mary's has been largely contained, because that's who she is, she keeps everything close to her heart, especially the things that hurt her. But it's all spilling out in this episode. There's so many things she can't contain, like Carlisle's jealousy, her own grief, at this point, after so many years. And for all those who look, it's the most obvious thing in the world, that Mary is suffering.
Well. Almost all.
https://preview.redd.it/qtclhsraev0d1.jpg?width=658&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29ef93c7e1a1cfaa5f298ab4ef36be075861574f
Robert calls Carlisle grabbing Mary in front of her family "an awkward moment", and calls Mary "tired" of Carlisle.
Yes, Robert. Of all the things Mary is feeling at the moment, tiredness is one of them. Not sure if it's the most obvious one, but with you I've learned to bring a small basket.
He also, unlike Matthew, doesn't respect Mary enough to go up to her and ask her if she needs anything from, idk, her father. Some help, some advice. He asks his wife to tell him if he's overlooked anything, and how is the answer to that not "Pretty much everything that's ever happened in this house".
And at this point, I will leave you, because we're half way through and I've already hit both my word, and my image limit. The first one is self-imposed, for the second one, send your grievances @ reddit.

2024.05.17 01:05 READMYSHIT Is it fairly straightforward to get planning permission for a big garage?

I've half an acre where my house is, have always wanted a big garage, bit of a workshop, somewhere to park the cars etc. I live in the middle of nowhere, neighbours wouldn't mind.
Anyone gotten planning for a big shed and is it straightforward or will councils try prevent it the same way they do for one off houses?
Main points if they matter - won't be liveable, will have water and electricity, single storey, probably 50-100sqm.
I'm sure if I just built it no one would ever know or care, but obviously want to avoid any future annoyances if I were ever to sell.

2024.05.16 19:01 The-Good-Murloc How would you adapt Neighbor’s Triggers into Border?

This question has been probably asked a million times but I can’t seem to find it using Reddit’s search bar.
Given the Neighbor triggers we’ve seen on screen, how would you adapt them for use in Border.
Pretty much all of Border’s triggers have been taken from the Neighborhood and adapted for their use. And since they have the capability of developing triggers like Scorpion and Raygust, it’s definitely possible for them to develop triggers based off of the enemies they’ve fought. Obviously you can’t 1-to-1 a lot of these as there are Black Triggers, Triggers enhanced by horns, etc.
EDIT: I guess some of you didn’t read this last paragraph. Look BTs are BTs. We’re in a hypothetical realm of discussion where Border can see a trigger and recreate it albeit downgraded. If you were to take a BT and downgrade it so that a Border agent could realistically use. How would you do that?
Just going off the Wiki, here’s a refresher.
Cape: Minor armor that resists Gunner bullets. Can be shed to remove Lead Bullet and regenerates.
Chelidon: Ranbanein can morph it into Gatling Gun. High rate of fire with heavy damage. It can also be fired like a shooter with Viper properties. Or it can turn into a jetpack that can regenerate.
Lampryis: Hyuse’s magnets. Literally does everything. Shields, Railguns, Camouflage, you name it.
Alektor: Summon Trion animals that turn Trion into Trion cubes on contact. Can restore the user’s Trion with said cubes.
Organon: Orbital blades
Speirasika: Portals. Can also summon spikes.
Vorvoros: Liquify the user’s Trion body enabling them to freely change states of matter and the position of their core.
Tokens: Now we don’t know a lot about these. Obviously they are used to summon most of Galopoula’s triggers. Does it store their Trion beforehand? Do they have to spend their own Trion AND the token to summon things. You can interpret this as you want but I’m in the camp of storing your Trion beforehand and then you can use that to summon Galo-type triggers which then use your Trion while actively using them.
Despinis: 16 controllable blade rings that can combine for a big one.
Nikokyra: Controllable slime that can shield and coat objects to reduce friction.
Servitora: Little flying objects that reflect the user’s image.
Thugater: Spike whip tail thing.
Vasilissa: Tough Doc Ock arms that are replaced with a shield once cut.
Cannon: Big blammo. High damage and speed with an even higher cooldown period.
Disguise: Mimic the appearance of another person or Trion object. Can be used with Servitora to flip your own image to make it even more confusing.
Smoke Screen: Yep
Summon: Does that too
Tunnel: Tunnel perpendicularly through surfaces
Here’s a few I’d like to see.
Cheildon: C’mon who doesn’t want a jetpack. The rest of the kit is already in Border.
Alektor: Maybe a new bullet type? You can make a second trigger Vacuum that sucks up nearby Trion leakage for yourself. Maybe not restore damage but your total Trion is taken restored. Maybe it can catch your own leaking Trion meaning while active, only death blows can kill. If Osamu is up against a leaking enemy, his defensive style just got a touch of vampirism.
Cannon’s a new gun type. Give that to Chika and call it a day.
Wen So’s whole package is a bunch of mind games. Would love to see Osamu have a smoke and wire room with real and illusory wires.

2024.05.16 17:45 Zagaroth [No Need For A Core?] - CH 188: Sounding Out The Swamp

Cover Art <<Previous Start Next >>
GLOSSARY This links to a post on the free section of my Patreon. Note: "Book 1" is chapters 1-59, "Book 2" is chapters 60-133, "Book 3", is 134-193, "Book 4" is CH 194-(ongoing)
Fuyuko, Derek, and Shizoku spent most of a day dealing with their accumulated gains and preparing for their first day of exploration. Shizoku spent a fair amount of that evening's time communing with Bip, her slime familiar. She needed to adjust what spells she had at the ready for dealing with a wetlands environment.
While she was studying her grimoire, Derek and Fuyuko were preparing more physical means of dealing with the wetlands. Most of their work had been dealt with by trading the boat for three pairs of proper swamp boots, but the footwear needed a little adjusting and resizing for each of them.
The over boots were a combination of different techniques for dealing with different sorts of mud, with the base being a raised wooden sole that 'winged' out to resist sinking further into soft mud that was deeper than the ridges raised the sole. These were attached to oiled leather over boots that were useful for wading. The wooden soles were detachable for prolonged wading where they would provide a hindrance.
Derek could reshape the wooden portion to match their feet exactly, and reshape metal fittings if needed, but leather and cloth needed manual adjustment. Given how long they were planning on using these for, it was important to make them fit as perfectly as possible to prevent blisters and sores, even with their normal footwear underneath the boots.
They began their exploration by using the mapping tools they had won in the library to learn the layout of the swamp near the town. It didn't take them long to realize that some of the islands moved very slowly, and Derek was able to use his elemental talents to investigate, leading to the disturbing realization that under the right conditions, mud could have currents and flows.
Shizoku's magic wasn't quite as effective as she would have liked, for most of it was designed to work in other environments. Magic designed to hide your tracks and traces didn't prevent you from making them in the first place, and so did not keep you from sinking into mud. She did have a spell designed to make traversal through any terrain safe and easy, but it didn't last very long and was best reserved for crossing smaller sections of really bad terrain.
Spells used for manipulating and altering plants could also provide small bridges, but these were limited by the strength of the nearby plants. Generally speaking, they were better for clearing plants out of the way.
These difficulties were inspiring ideas of future spells to research, but that required more time than just the little bit of rest they got each day.
Derek's powers were more consistent and easier to use repeatedly or for long periods, but the effects tended to not be as dramatic as the witch's spells. He could make the mud firmer or softer to a degree, but he couldn't create a solid path out of flowing silt for even a few minutes.
Fuyuko found that her long limbs and greater strength allowed her to move easier through the swamp then her friends could, just by virtue of being able to apply more force and leverage. This was why she was leading the way, Derek found it difficult to monitor the details of the mud around them while also working to firm it up constantly, and it was easiest for Fuyuko to cope with any sudden changes that Derek wasn't able to compensate for.
Their outward journey each day was mostly limited by Derek's stamina, and when he was approaching his limits they would use a combination of their maps and Shizoku's divination magics to find the best route back. Such spells required some precision in defining a destination, so they were not very useful when you didn't have a concrete destination in mind.
Because the trio were taking their time to be thorough and to explore all possibilities, it didn't take long for them to begin finding all the bounties that the swamp held in store for them. Shizoku was able to find plants with medical and alchemical uses, though she had to consult the tomes that she had stored in Bip's memories as wetland plants were not very familiar to her. Once she had identified any specific plant, she could give it to Fuyuko as a sample and the luponi could use her better senses to find more of that plant.
Fuyuko also caught the scent of some mud that was strangely familiar, and after she and Derek dug out some of the intensely colored clay, Shizoku was able to recognize it was a valuable type of clay used for making prized teapots and other pottery. This explained why the scent had been familiar to Fuyuko, as Kazue had been excited to introduce her to Cimbu and the fourteen-year-old had been fascinated by the ability to make the little clay dragon spit water without any magic involved and sometimes made some tea just to have an excuse to play with the tea pet and make him spit. Well, once she'd been shown how; tea wasn't something she'd had much experience with before.
Claiming the clay was more problematic. However much they might be able to claim in their explorations and bring back to town, there were only so many other explorers they could trade with as everyone had a limit to how much stuff they could physically haul out. In the end they decided on a single large sack of clay that would be stored in Fuyuko's spatially expanded backpack.
Derek did most of the work of 'mining' the clay, during which they made another discovery: Opals. There weren't an outrageous number of them, but they were decent-sized and high quality. These became a higher priority target than the clay itself, though they kept that too.
The teens didn't forget the lessons they'd been given about the previous level and wanted to fish here too. However, the water was murky in the places it was deep enough to possibly have fish, making it more difficult to know where the fish were.
It was only after they talked with people back at the town that they learned about fish traps, and set about making those. Specifically, eel traps. The eels were prized for both their skin and their flesh. Their skin was both durable and supple and came in a wide variety of colors and patterns, and their flesh was sweeter than most varieties found out in the world. As soon as they learned how to make and set eel traps, those were added to their routine during their explorations.
Their travels throughout the swamp also brought them to many of the scattered 'monster homes' throughout the swamp, including the time that Fuyuko nearly stepped on a kobold enjoying a nice relaxing mud bath. It was a shock for all three of them as none knew about the relatively recent acquisition of the small, scaled race.
Shizoku was fine with the kobold after she got over her shock, but she did less well when they met the crabbit, who was so kind as to sing for them. Not that any of them found the sight of the interior of the 'mouth' to be less than disturbing, but the effect on the little kitsune was profound as she tightened her lips into a forced smile despite the panic showing clearly in the lines and tension around her eyes. She did well enough to keep her reaction under control that the inhabitants chose to ignore it rather than call her out on it, which would have knocked down their standing in the witch's evaluation.
After about a week, they decided that their mapping and exploration of the swamp was about as good as it was going to get. It was time to approach the witch's hut that they'd avoided previously. The Fairy Witch was in a strange, almost manic mood and the trio quickly found out she was obsessed with creating new musical sounds.
"Alright kids," Carmilla said, "you want to pass my swamp? You have to help me out here. Look, the bards I've gotten my hands on have been great and all, even pretty damn creative. But I think I need something from people who don't know as much about music. Here's my workshop, I don't care if it's a new instrument or a new way of playing an old instrument, a different sort of harmony, or whatever. Gimme something new, and you can use anything you want here, the good stuff is in another building. Bah, this lot." She glared at a group of distant figures. "They're boring, won't even respond to me flirting with them, and not a musical bone in their bodies. Well, time to play the part. Have fun in there, but I don't really want to see you again until you got something for me."
The only one of them with any musical training at all was Shizoku, but it had never been something she'd pursued on her own. That left them somewhat aimlessly poking around the workshop and messing around with instruments they found, many of which were obviously experiments that were only finished enough to test.
That did eventually prove to be enough for inspiration. A large lute was laying on top of a narrow table, and Derek frowned thoughtfully at it. "I think I remember seeing something once that looked a little like that, but smaller. Like, it had a long board with a bunch of strings, way more than the lute, but the strings were on the top sort of like the lute, and it had a folding stand so that it sat on the ground. The lady who played it was set up in the square and taking tips, I guess to help pay her way? I don't know where she was traveling to or from, I only saw her once. I remember it being nice, but I don't remember what it sounded like exactly."
That was enough to start the ball rolling. "I think I know that one," Shizoku said, "Gran Gran has one tucked away. I don't think I've seen her play it though. Hmm. Well, she wants something new to her, and I don't think it's portable enough that most people are going to lug one down here, so maybe we can do that. I don't know how to tune without a tuning fork. Wait, Fuyuko, you have sharp ears, think you can figure out proper notes and a scale? "
Fuyuko looked at her blankly. "Um? I don't know, what does it involve?"
Shizoku gave her a quick rundown of how notes relate to each other with harmonies and gave an example by singing a few notes that were close to each other. "So like that, but cleaner. Only, we are supposed to be creative, and I know that there are different scales." She chewed on the idea for a little while more, thinking out loud while the others asked questions.
They agreed that the first step was going to be having a sounding box for the body, once Shizoku explained that was how the instrument amplified sound. Though that meant figuring out the size. Derek suggested that he try to make it as big as Carmilla could play. She wasn't as tall as Fuyuko, but she was pretty tall and had long arms and fingers.
The table seemed like a perfect frame to start with, even if they were going to destroy it, and the three of them set about scavenging the other instruments for parts. They snacked on strips of dried eel when they needed to take a break, and by evening they had a crude sound box built into what had once been the table. Even with Derek's wood-shaping skills, they were having trouble getting the salvaged parts to fit smoothly together into a single box with enough resonance.
Udup, the witch's shadow drake familiar, came out to check on them, and after getting a report on their progress offered to fetch them some food if they wanted to camp out here instead of trekking to town and back. The teens agreed that was the better idea, and it allowed them to tinker with ideas until they turned in for the night.

Hey y’all. So this may be a dumb question, but I am looking into buying some property pretty soon in Georgia. And I was wondering how many cattle could I fit on it? The property isn’t quite all flat land, there are some hills on it. But just one section of it I’d say 2 acres are for the house, workshop, shed etc. How would you recommend that I fence it? Also this property is fed by a well. Is that a positive or a negative? Should the cattle be a bad idea, what would you recommend?

2024.05.16 12:34 Forsaken-Marketing79 High humidity in the workshop

Hello I am in the middle of building my own speargun but the workshop is have access to is basically a glorified garden shed and i cutted my teak wood board into the 5 strips i will be using for my blank But i talked with the guys about the humidity and noticed it was at 95 %(higher than outside) that day and it only rained a little bit and they said that the humidity s a big problem there and that it is a lot of times higher than 80% wehen it is cold but its fine in Summer So is it bad if i let my strips rest in this environment? To be safe i took them home to my apartment

2024.05.16 11:56 CodFun5056 Regalia OC Revelation: Shaving Routine Breakthrough

Regalia OC Revelation: Shaving Routine Breakthrough
Shaving Hour: 7:00 PM
Took a shower and washed my face with Himalaya Lemon Face Wash
Pre Shave: Pink Woolf Oud & Sandal wood ( nice).
Razor: Romer 7 Regalia Open Comb and Close Comb.
Blade : Silvermax Super Platinum ( 1st day of use)
RazoBlade Combination: Silvermax Super Platinum blades are both sharp and smooth. This is the first time I have ever used it (thanks to u/okiedokie_cool for sending me this goodie). Paired with this razor,it was an outstanding combination!
Brush: Wahl Boar brush (probably 20mm knot).Yesterday, it shed 5/6 bristles unexpectedly, even though I've had it for many days.
Lather: Pink Woolf's Oud and Sandalwood soap ( consistently great)
First Pass: WTG with open comb
Second Pass: ATG with closed comb
Open Comb Experience: My first open comb razor was the Pearl L- 55, and it was a terrible experience I will never forget. The tremendous bites and razor burn almost brought tears to my eyes. From that day on, I always maintained a distance from open comb razors and never thought about using one again.
After discussing with u/okiedokie_cool and trying out the Regliia OC base plate (I already have the Regalia Closed Comb), which he sent me as part of the welcome kit, it has turned out to be a turning point. I had such a smooth shave with it, without any bite or razor burn! Though there was a definite blade feel, but in terms aggression, it felt mild to balanced to me.
My beard was two days old, and I achieved a nearly BBS (baby bottom smooth) shave with just two passes - the first with the OC and the second with the CC.
Post Shave: Alum block (no burn, just some usual stings), I followed up with Oud and Sandalwood ASL(nice moisturizing content)and Mr. Jordan Ice Touch ASL(nice cooling) and had a typical old-school scent, almost identical to Old Spice Original but with a barbershop touch. Loved it!

[Blue Archive x Project Moon Assignment Post] #01: Associations and Offices
https://preview.redd.it/sjsb8z54tp0d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0932ceeaafe8f62865625bfe4cd1c0803f33742d
This post will begin with a preface: Blue Archive's Kivotos is just a sugar-coated, moe-induced version of Project Moon's City... for the most parts. If you take the characters of BA and make them City residents, it won't make too much difference (aside from the gun restriction). And so, this series would just be me assigning various City organizations to be suited for the BA casts and clubs. Today's part is rather easy because Fixers are the most common and well-known group in PM-verse
1. General Student Council Hana Association Pretty self-explanatory, since they fit the role of an overseer towards the many subsidiaries (Students for BA's case, and Fixers for PM's). Some may argue that GSC is more like the Head, but I disagree since at the end of the day, GSC still has the willingness to uphold order unlike whatever the Head is doing for their City.
2. KSPD Zwei Association This one is also a no-brainer, because both of them serve as the peacekeepers and enforcers of the law.
3. Knowledge Liberation Front Tres Association This is more of an odd choice since not much details are known about Tres. However, we do know that they are responsible for researching and grading Workshop products, so it safe to say that the Knowledge Liberation Front can serve that purpose + imposing their own agenda (as in, trying to get as much Workshop as possible to be legal since they believe that Workshops shouldn't be too limited by the rules). Side note: I also want them to be the Technological Liberation Alliance from Limbus, but... that spot is reserved for a certain group of terrorists.
4. Ninjutsu Research Club Shi Association Now, hear me out: the original purpose of ninjas was supposed to conduct discreet missions that included assassinations, right? And since Shi is all about killing people from the shadows, it's not too far fetched to connect two-and-two together, but instead of using the normal standardized Shi weaponry, the Ninjutsu Club members would carry out their assassinations using their self-developed techniques.
5. After School Sweets Cinq Association The original idea for this is courtesy of @/xiazhenqwq on Twitter, but I really like their idea of Kazusa and Reisa being duelist Fixers, especially with Reisa's personality.
6. Black Tortoise Promenade Liu Association Not much can be said about this one, other than them being an Association that takes aggressive approaches in their missions (or direct confrontations), and them having some connection with food. Although, if we just want to see from the “funny Burn status” perspective, I guess the Hot Spring Department can be included here.
7. Abydos Foreclosure Task Force Seven Association I’m a little biased about this one since Abydos is my favorite school and Seven is also my favorite group in Limbus. But still, the idea of Seven is all about gathering intel and reconnaissance; two of the things we see the Foreclosure Team often do (minus paying their debts and, y’know… robbing a bank). Besides, a Section 6 Office with only five members in the edge of the district with no funding whatsoever from the higher sections makes for a good story.
8. Highlander Devyat Association Just like Tres, not much details are known about Devyat aside from its role of managing transportation and delivery, so we can move on from here.
9. Sisterhood Dieci Association This one is very easy because, come on, Dieci’s aesthetic screams Catholic. Additional points to the fact that the Sisterhood has access to an antique library and holds records of Trinity’s oldest history. Also… the mental image of Mari punching people with her bare hand is just hilarious.
10. Justice Task Force Öufi Association Being the upholder of justice, the JTC job includes maintaining a high-degree of order and handling the breach of said order, which is similar to Oufi’s job, but the latter is limited to just affairs related to contracts and deal making.
Also, I did not include Eight Association here because we literally don’t have a single shed of information other than the name.
BONUS: INDEPENDENT OFFICES
Problem Solver 68 I don’t care what anyone else says, I believe PS68 should have their own Fixer Office; just a bunch of ragtag Fixers from various backgrounds under the leadership of their (questionably) competent leader and are always in a state of debt + will do anything just to get money. Hell, I even already have an idea for a fanfic about them!
Well, that took longer than expected. Feel free to share your own opinions about this (Yes, I’m talking to you Project Moon sleeper agents)

2024.05.16 04:45 CalliopeUrias Air Conditioner Issues (FL)

We had to move for my husband's job, and began renting a house at the beginning of April. The last tenant apparently did a number on the house, and the repairs were ongoing pretty much until the day we moved in. One of those repairs involved ripping out the AC system that cooled the two ground floor bedrooms and the front hall. When we moved in, the property manager said that the AC was being repaired and would be reinstalled. Then, a month later, she said that they were getting quotes on replacing the system from a few local companies, and would I be able to schedule a day where the dudes could come and do an estimate.
A week after that, the property manager says that the owner of the house has decided that replacing the AC system is too expensive, and he's bought window units that will be delivered to the house.
Fine, whatever, it's getting hot and we just need something.
Except when the units finally arrived yesterday, it turns out that they're not true window units, they're these weird boxes that sit on the floor and connect to the window via plastic duct tubing. (Something kind of like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Portable-Air-Conditioner-8000-BTU-Conditioners-Room-15-x20-ft-3-in-1-Compact-Indoor-Floor-AC-Unit-Dehumidify-Fan-Window-Installation-Kit-Remote-Cont2752455911)
The problem (aside from the fact that they're ugly as all get out) is that these two rooms are my kids' rooms, two of whom are 5 year old boys. These things are a massive tripping hazard, they're super light and easy to tip over, and the ducting isn't all that sturdy. Someone is going to break something.
I wrote an email to the property manager explaining that these units are a safety hazard, because they can't be anchored to a wall or to the floor, and someone is going to knock them over, but her response is basically that she'll pass my email along to the owner, but it's a me-problem, not a them-problem.
Aside from tossing these stupid things in the shed and getting my own real window units that I can anchor into the window and that the kids won't trip on, is there anything I can do?

2024.05.16 03:47 Fenrir___ Which course of action for a refund of materials/services?

Hi all,
This is a long one so I do apologise, but I've edited in a TL;DR at the bottom.
Let's start off with some context. Some 6 months ago I signed with a registered builder to install my shed (as is required under our council regulations based on the price of the shed). Upon signing, we were advised once the team arrived on site, it would be a 2 - 3 day job to completion.
We waited some 3 months where we were told that they were flat out at the moment and that the team assigned to us was just finishing off another job. By mid-Feb we finally met our 'team'. The building company were so flat out that they'd started using subcontractors to keep up with their workload.
The team we got was a man named Bill (let's say). Throughout the course of our shed 6 also brought in 3 other guys at different times for varying lengths of time. It all seemed very adhoc. This brings us to the last few weeks. 3 months on since installation began, and the shed still wasn't finished. It got to the point where Bill was ducking the calls of the registered builder and being very non-committal with us--we could never lock down dates to get it completed and there was always a new problem that cropped up. The registered builder showed up at our place yesterday with 2 other guys, and they went over the entire shed top to bottom and fixed so much. Replaced damaged sheets, replaced a damaged PA door and frame, added missing bolts, and re-layered the roof sheets to make it waterproof proof--what should have been done the first time. The builder has been nothing but apologetic and has been incredibly embarrassed by the work of Bill. We're now happy with the state of the shed itself.
This brings us to what I really wanted to ask about. At the start of March, I was talking with Bill while he was on site and I had mentioned in passing that we'd need to sort out windows at some point as they weren't included in our shed kit (nothing to do with the registered builder, we engaged them for installation only). Bill said he'd be happy to order them in and install them for us (note: this was between him and I, separate from the registered builder). He later got back to us saying the windows had a 6 week lead time on them, but that he had to pay for them in full when ordering them, and so issued us with an invoice. I know, I know. We've already learnt our lesson, but we were just so excited at the prospect of the shed finally going up, and we believed him when it was presented that he was giving us a good deal.
We were issued with two invoices: invoice 1 had the order of the windows, plus delivery, plus some $100 worth of gutter hardware pieces, and came to $1,700, and invoice 2 just had a $400 installation fee. We paid invoice 1 via bank transfer. But that wasn't even the problem at the time. Over the next 8 weeks, I followed up with him a few times for the ETA of the windows and I never got much out of him, until he texted me at the beginning of May saying that they'd been stolen off the back of his truck, and that re-ordering them was going to be another 12 weeks. By now, we're well and truly fed up.
I texted him requesting a refund on invoice 1 and a cancellation of services because waiting 20 weeks for windows to be installed is not what we paid for, and we do not deem that reasonable. We're so demoralised by the poor quality of Bill's work on the rest of the shed that we just want to wipe our hands of him. The registered builder even offered to order the windows (only a 6 week lead time, mind you) and install them free of charge because he's embarrassed for having engaged Bill to do the works. Upon my request for a refund, he never responded to my request and instead skirted it by saying that he'll advise when the windows arrive and we can pick them up and end our dealings with him. Except we've also found out when the registered builder ordered the windows that they only cost $950. So we're still not satisfied with having paid $1,700--for what?? I also requested copies of the invoices he paid to the manufacturer to order the windows (both times), and he has refused, so we don't have evidence that they were even ordered the first time.
So I ask, where can I take this from here? Almost all of our communication with him (especially relating to the windows) has been via text, and so I have it all documented. We want a refund on invoice 1 and a cancellation of all further services from him. Do we lodge a Consumer Protection Complaint? Contact a small claims lawyer? Never had to resort to any of these options before.
Thanks for your time if you've made it this far, if I've missed anything out or if any further information would be beneficial, please ask. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: TL;DR - Having shed installed by registered builder who engaged a subcontractor to actually complete the works. I engaged subcontractor to order and install windows, paid $1,700 to subcontractor for ordering. Advised at this time of 4 - 6 week lead time. After waiting 8 weeks, subcontractor says that the windows were stolen off the back of his truck, another 12 week wait for new ones to come in. I have requested a refund, subcontractor has refused. What route do I take to get this sorted?

2024.05.16 01:45 TheCoffeeGuy77 Did Joanne from the PTA commit a crime?

Wife and I were talking about criminal villains on the show: Chase Kaminski's insurance fraud, Jack Conway's meat fraud, various attempted murders by the Fisches, and I wondered - Did Joanne break the law? Stealing from the PTA supplies is one thing, and Colleen Caviello implied that she'd been taking money from the budget/spending on personal items. Buying the expensive science kits from her own company is a hugely shady conflict of interest, but is it a crime?

2024.05.16 01:00 Spare-Magazine6223 Loving the Legend- Character descriptions

This is about {Loving the Legend by Kit Grey}
I really loved this book, but I feel like there was a lack of character descriptions. Maybe I'm missing something but usually when i read romance the other person describes the person they are talking about, their hair texture, crooked, teeth, eye color, etc with those descriptions I, as the reader also form a picture in my head of the person and see the appeal of the love interest. But it is really bugging me, at the end of the book i felt like there were not a lot of physical character descriptions to indicate anything about what the other looked like. Are these men mixed, black, white etc. Can anyone else shed some light? maybe I missed something.
