9.3/10 - Wow! This was a heavenly experience. I figured the peanut butter would be overpowering but I was wrong. I’ve never been big on peanut butter ice cream but this one was great. The base was a solid taste, the brownie chunks were great just like in yesterday’s flavor, the honeycomb pieces were sublime, and the peanut butter swirl reminded me of that Shell ice cream topping product. Each bite had a little bit of everything for the most part, and even when it was missing a certain ingredient, there was still plenty of flavor to be had. Each bite had a certain order of tastes (if that makes sense) which kept you guessing spoon after spoon. If you see this in the store, buy it immediately.

I have been playing a lot of No Return since it released, and I’ve gotten a lot better, over time, starting from Moderate difficulty and worked my way up through Survivor difficulty. I am having a lot of difficulty making the leap up to Grounded, though. I am not having trouble with the lack of a HUD nor the absence of “listen mode”. However, I am really struggling with Assaults and Captures versus human foes.
I understand the concept of being patient, using cover, using bottles & bricks.… but I’m having a LOT of trouble with aiming and enemy flanking. I am looking for advice on which areas of each map give the player the most advantage, specifically versus human foes, and specifically on Grounded. I do not mean for this next statement to sound snobby — many of the spots on these maps work very well on lower difficulties (for example, the guard tower on the Hospital map) but are significantly less safe on SurvivoGrounded.
I’ll write down my experience on each map; please feel free to comment or give advice on any or all of the maps.
Hardware Store — Great map vs. Infected but I really struggle vs. human foes here. The washedryer appliances corner and the corner with the “checkout” aisles just do not work. Too easy to get pinned down or flanked from long distance. I have tried the shopping cart near the center of the map; not great. The area with display cabinets is ok, but easy to get surrounded. This might be the map I need the most help on.
Hospital — The outdoor tent and nearby truck do not work. The guard tower is good for one Assault wave, but trying to do all three waves up there is going to leave you starved for supplies and/or ammo. Need some alternatives for this map. The large open indoor area (where Holdout occurs on this map) has too many sight-lines and glass walls; enemies will spot you and then aggressively flank you there. Ideas?
Jackson — This is probably the easiest map; there are numerous locations where the player can reduce the number of incoming sight-lines. Lots of practical cover, and useful chokepoints.
Logging Camp — If there are any other defensible locations besides the two second-story lofts, please tell me. I despise this map because the AI will often get “stuck” if your character is in one of the two lofts… but trying to fight from anywhere else will get you aggressively flanked and simultaneously shot at from long-range.
Forest — I feel like the uppermost level of the parking structure, near the small sedan, is the only reliably safe location. However, that’s problematic because the supply crates that spawn between waves have zero spawn points on the uppermost level. Sometimes the crate will spawn all the way down on the ground floor, up against a van near the stairwell. I have heard some players say that the forested outdoor area is good, but I do not buy that, at all. Enemies will throw firebombs and flank aggressively out there, and their firearms accuracy does not seem to be impeded by the dense foliage.
Resort — the outdoors upper area (with the BBQ grill, etc.) is very defensible, and gives your character advantageous sight-lines down into the pool house, across to the big building’s first floor dining area, and also into the chokepoints from the second-story bedrooms and the adjacent outdoor staircase. However... maybe it’s confirmation bias but I feel like Firebomb or Pustule Rain spawns as a modifier on this map A LOT. I would love to know which, if any, areas inside the main building are defensible.
Houses — decent amount of defensible locations, but most of those have reduced, or even very restricted, sight-lines for the player (shed/gazebo, first floobasement of the smaller two-story house, garage attached to the largest house, one-story small house with attached garage across the street). I feel like the second story of the largest house is a bait — it feels safe initially, but it really isn’t that safe. Would love to hear opinions about what the best (not just “good”) spots are on this map.
Gas Station — I hate this map because it feels like you almost HAVE to defend the little cafe adjacent to the bookstore. That’s fine for one or two Assault waves, but I would like to know some alternatives, especially using the gas station building, itself. Much like the second-story house on the Houses map, I feel like the gas station building & garage is a bait — but maybe I am playing it wrong.
Shipping Yard — probably the second easiest map… unless you get assigned the larger version of this map that has a huge mostly open grassy area that isn’t available on the “standard” version of this map. I’m looking for advice specifically on that alternate/large version of Shipping Yard.
TV Station — So many glass walls and crappy cover that can be flanked from multiple sides. This map is very manageable when 3 or 4 human foes spawn per wave of Assault, but when there’s 5+ foes per wave, I get dead almost 100% of the time. This is a map I need help on specifically for when TV Station is the site of Encounter 3, or later, during a No Return run.

Thank you AskNOLA for all your help and suggestions, this trip would have been less eventful without you all!
Stayed at Omni Royal Orleans and loved it, great staff.
Day 1: Starving so I stopped the nearest open place, Oceana Grill. Had the taste of New Orleans, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, sausage, red beans and rice. I liked it.
Day 2: Cafe Beignet for breakfast and had the crawfish grits, decent. For lunch I went to Croquettes. This was the best food of my trip. Roasted oysters were so tasty I licked the shells after. Also ate the dry-aged duck breast, so good!
Day 3: Swamp tour with Cajun Encounters. The swamp was so beautiful, and the warm air felt great when we were going fast on the pontoon. Saw more gators than I thought I would and also racoons, wild pigs, turtles and the poison plant hemlock. He broke off a piece for us to smell.
Day 4: Breakfast at a different Cafe Beignet for the beignets and cafe au lait, decent but not very memorable. Shopping on Magazine Street and stopped at the Balcony Bar for drinks. $3 cocktails! For lunch I went to Drago's and had chargrilled oysters, fish topped w/ crawfish stuffing, crawfish mac n cheese, and a crustless cheesecake. All was very tasty. Croquette oysters were tastier.
Day 5: FTBF voodoo tour, I did not enjoy our guide because his presentation was more like shock humor sprinkled in with some facts. Lunch I just had a club sandwich from the Rib Room. Partied on Bourbon Street and Frenchman Street for the night. The Dragon's Den near Frenchman Street was always lively.
Day 6: Neyow's Creole Cafe for lunch, had the fried porkchop, red beans and rice. Had a huge cocktail called the Bow Wow with like 8 shots of two kinds of rum and fruit punch, tasty. My second favorite meal of the trip! Visited the NOMA and the sculpture garden. Ceasar's Palace Casino for some poker and roulette = +$100!
Day 7: Breakfast at Parkway Bakery for the James Brown po-boy, bbq roast beef and fried shrimp. So messy I had to finish with a fork, decent. Back to the NOMA for more pictures. Lunch I went to Mr. Ed's for the fried catfish and jambalaya, pretty good.
Most nights I ate dinner at Wille's chicken shack because I eat late. Took the streetcar to a lot of places around town which saved some money. Went into a bunch of art galleries and antique shops in the FQ. Visited Voodoo Authentica for some souvenirs. I visited Bourbon Street most nights but always grabbed a cab to Frenchman Street for the cocktails because the ones on Bourbon are all on tap, yuck. Double yuck for the smell, but the street performers make it a spectacle to see. All around a great time had by this first-time solo traveler and I owe a huge part of that to this sub! Would love to visit again.

I lost my cat last Friday and been having a hard time. So I wanted to share his story plus some pictures. Sorry it’s a little long.
TL;DR: Ollie was cool. Pet your cat and give them a treat for Ollie.
Ollie and his sister came with the house. We observed them from windows for the first few months and, eventually, at strategically placed food bowls around the outside of the house. Ollie was the first to eat from them, the first one not to run from us, the first one to let us touch him, and the first one inside. He didn’t want to stay inside but he was curious. Afterall, he was a street cat and he enjoyed prowling around at night no matter how much I wish he didn’t.
We got to know him over nearly four years as a feisty, older street cat. He was likely four to six years old in 2019 and still had lots of energy. He liked to patrol his domain (our house) and we frequently caught him on camera walking around outside late at night. There were also fights we had to break up. Despite being territorial, he still wanted attention and would never pass up an opportunity to roll around at my feet or even jump into my lap for pets. Inside the house, he didn’t bother the cats and kept to himself. That is until he discovered the bed and wanted to lie on my chest all night. We called him a sack of potatoes since he would pass out.
Being an outside cat, I knew his life was more dangerous than I hoped. During our second winter, we lost power for three days and had to leave. I worried about him and even stopped by to feed them, but they were gone. When we finally got power again and returned home, he was on the roof and he calmly strutted down. A year later, he disappeared during the summer for three days. I thought he was gone; he was an outdoor cat, but I still searched for him and posted online. One night, he returned for dinner like nothing happened. Other dangers include a few puncture, a cough the vet said he would beat, and even a somewhat recent rip to his ear from some cat battle.
Still, Ollie was our outdoor street cat, and he slowed down into retirement. I stopped finding him in fields across the street and most of the time he was in our backyard or the vacant lot next door. During the winter, he came into the house at night. Every night he got wet food and snacks. He followed me around during yard work and while barbequing outside. He rolled on my feet and let me rub his belly. I even named my grill after him and his sister. He was always around and often rolling in the shade. He especially loved cold nights when he could sleep in bed with us. He also loved a felt cat toy we had indoors.
Last Thursday, he did not show up for breakfast. I searched for him again. I hoped he would return like before. He returned Friday night, but not like nothing happened. He was sick and could hardly move. The vet later told me it was blockage in his urethra and his kidneys would not be able to recover. I took him in and fulfilled my promise that I would let him go when he was in too much pain. They wrapped him in a blanket and let me hold my sack of potatoes one last time. He stretched like he did in my lap and went to sleep.
I miss him more than I realized. I thought I would see him sitting on our back porch watching or I would see him running over to get wet food with his sister. She is still around and I wish she would stay inside, but she mostly spends her time outside on our back porch. I hope Ollie is sitting in the shade somewhere on a warm day and rolling in dirt or concrete. He was loved and is still loved.

Hey does anyone need an apartment for 24/25 school year? I need to find a relet ASAP. I live at 5025 apartments which is down the street from SDSU. It's a great space with a shuttle bus that goes straight to the school daily. Currently l'm occupying a private space in a unit with 5 other girls. You'd get your own bathroom and honestly it's pretty spacious. It would be $1250 a month if you take my spot which is $50 off the normal price. Monthly for amenities is included in that. Please message if you're interested. In order to relet you need to be girl as it is an all girls unit.

Personal opinions of the unit: It's honestly really nice and I’m not just saying that. I've never used the pool but they do have events every other week in the clubhouse which is really fun as well. It's similar to living in a dorm but much more spacious and you become great friends with your roommates while having private time in your own room. Maintenance is quick and easy to schedule and there's always a security guard patrolling at night so I always feel safe. You also need a key fob or app to get into the building. I'd live here again but I'm studying abroad next semester so l can't stay. Please message me if you're interested I'll get back to you as soon as I can and share more details!

2024.05.16 21:32 DonkeyKongChestThump Need help/advice on No Return Assaults vs. human adversaries on Grounded

I have been playing a lot of No Return since it released, and I’ve gotten a lot better, over time, starting from Moderate difficulty and worked my way up through Survivor difficulty. I am having a lot of difficulty making the leap up to Grounded, though. I am not having trouble with the lack of a HUD nor the absence of “listen mode”. However, I am really struggling with Assaults and Captures versus human foes.
I understand the concept of being patient, using cover, using bottles & bricks.… but I’m having a LOT of trouble with aiming and enemy flanking. I am looking for advice on which areas of each map give the player the most advantage, specifically versus human foes, and specifically on Grounded. I do not mean for this next statement to sound snobby — many of the spots on these maps work very well on lower difficulties (for example, the guard tower on the Hospital map) but are significantly less safe on SurvivoGrounded.
I’ll write down my experience on each map; please feel free to comment or give advice on any or all of the maps.
Hardware Store — Great map vs. Infected but I really struggle vs. human foes here. The washedryer appliances corner and the corner with the “checkout” aisles just do not work. Too easy to get pinned down or flanked from long distance. I have tried the shopping cart near the center of the map; not great. The area with display cabinets is ok, but easy to get surrounded. This might be the map I need the most help on.
Hospital — The outdoor tent and nearby truck do not work. The guard tower is good for one Assault wave, but trying to do all three waves up there is going to leave you starved for supplies and/or ammo. Need some alternatives for this map. The large open indoor area (where Holdout occurs on this map) has too many sight-lines and glass walls; enemies will spot you and then aggressively flank you there. Ideas?
Jackson — This is probably the easiest map; there are numerous locations where the player can reduce the number of incoming sight-lines. Lots of practical cover, and useful chokepoints.
Logging Camp — If there are any other defensible locations besides the two second-story lofts, please tell me. I despise this map because the AI will often get “stuck” if your character is in one of the two lofts… but trying to fight from anywhere else will get you aggressively flanked and simultaneously shot at from long-range.
Forest — I feel like the uppermost level of the parking structure, near the small sedan, is the only reliably safe location. However, that’s problematic because the supply crates that spawn between waves have zero spawn points on the uppermost level. Sometimes the crate will spawn all the way down on the ground floor, up against a van near the stairwell. I have heard some players say that the forested outdoor area is good, but I do not buy that, at all. Enemies will throw firebombs and flank aggressively out there, and their firearms accuracy does not seem to be impeded by the dense foliage.
Resort — the outdoors upper area (with the BBQ grill, etc.) is very defensible, and gives your character advantageous sight-lines down into the pool house, across to the big building’s first floor dining area, and also into the chokepoints from the second-story bedrooms and the adjacent outdoor staircase. However... maybe it’s confirmation bias but I feel like Firebomb or Pustule Rain spawns as a modifier on this map A LOT. I would love to know which, if any, areas inside the main building are defensible.
Houses — decent amount of defensible locations, but most of those have reduced, or even very restricted, sight-lines for the player (shed/gazebo, first floobasement of the smaller two-story house, garage attached to the largest house, one-story small house with attached garage across the street). I feel like the second story of the largest house is a bait — it feels safe initially, but it really isn’t that safe. Would love to hear opinions about what the best (not just “good”) spots are on this map.
Gas Station — I hate this map because it feels like you almost HAVE to defend the little cafe adjacent to the bookstore. That’s fine for one or two Assault waves, but I would like to know some alternatives, especially using the gas station building, itself. Much like the second-story house on the Houses map, I feel like the gas station building & garage is a bait — but maybe I am playing it wrong.
Shipping Yard — probably the second easiest map… unless you get assigned the larger version of this map that has a huge mostly open grassy area that isn’t available on the “standard” version of this map. I’m looking for advice specifically on that alternate/large version of Shipping Yard.
TV Station — So many glass walls and crappy cover that can be flanked from multiple sides. This map is very manageable when 3 or 4 human foes spawn per wave of Assault, but when there’s 5+ foes per wave, I get dead almost 100% of the time. This is a map I need help on specifically for when TV Station is the site of Encounter 3, or later, during a No Return run.

Gotham was a sad and dirty place, the criminal's run the streets living in fear not of the GCPD but of the Batman. Arkham City had fallen, a cesspit of crime and corruption led to the demise of the City leaving Arkham Asylum the last front against the worst of the worst. The joker had been quite too quiet for a long time, then his usual a huge big heist, bombs, batman and arrests. The clown Prince himself disappeared into the night but they got the next best thing, his princess.
In the transport van it was noted Harley was exceptionally compliant with guards, the biggest red flag if there was one, then when the scuffle at the processing desk and the young new recruite panicked and floored the clown princess her screams of "I'm pregnant, stop, please, I'm pregnant". Echoed through the halls of Arkham.
With the meeting called the next day, with officials and doctors and the health board. Arkham wanted nothing to do with her, blackgate couldn't accommodate her, they couldn't release her to the public. Arkham agreed to keep her if the child was terminated, until Arkham's biggest benefactor stepped in and offered to care for the woman, give her a home, food, medical care and supervision.
That was a few weeks ago and there was an uneasy alliance between Bruce Wayne and Harley Quinn, she knew if she had any chance of keeping her child it was with Bruce Wayne. Could the pair become friends? Or will the clown princess return to her master? With Harley living in Wayne manner and Alfred lining up a job for her at Wayne tech the roumour Mill tabloids were losing their minds.

It’s been one year since my (partial) Disney Adventure with my boyfriend and I’m getting sad from the reminders lol! I want to go back! We did two days at Disney – Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, with a day at Disney Springs. (Two days were at Universal Studios).
Day 1, Monday May 15
Magic Kingdom
Made it to the Magic Kingdom just before it opened. Started off with Jungle Cruise for our first ride, then Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, and Haunted Mansion. Didn't want to buy anything just yet but found some cool stuff to purchase later. Had some food (hotdogs and potato barrels aka tater tots lol) after Winnie the Pooh (which had a super long line) and Princess Carousel. Met Cinderella and another princess that I didn’t know. Did Buzz Lightyear, Carousel of Progress, and PeopleMover (that was broken down so we had to wait on that ride for a bit). Really cool when it was up and running and we saw the behind the scenes of Space Mountain (which was down for most of the day so we never rode). Hit up Mad Hatters Tea Party, Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pans Flight and It's a Small World, then Riverboat before dinner at Crystal Palace with the Winnie the Pooh gang. Did some shopping as we made our way to Main Street and got ready for fireworks. If I didn't take pictures, I never would have thought the day happened.
Day 2, Tuesday May 16
Hollywood Studios
Began the day with Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway, which was fun then Tower of Terror. Never again. Scary galore lol. The guy beside me kept grabbing my leg until I showed him the handle lol. Then we went to Toy Story Land and did the Alien saucers and Toy Story Mania (forearms grew that day). Had lunch at Woody's Toybox and had a brisket grilled cheese, it was really good (and more potato barrels). Took in the Indiana stunt show and then went to Star Tours, MuppetVision before making our way to Star Wars land for the two rides there. If I was Star Wars fan, I'd have lost my mind. I was so impressed with the production value and the scenery. Really really great stuff, very super impressed. Had some drinks and eats at the Cantina and it was "authentic" stuff so it looked weird but tasted normal lol and closed out with Beauty and the Beast and then dinner at Mickey and Minnies restaurant and met all of them.
Day 3, Wednesday May 17
Went to Disney springs and bought some Lego sets (first ones ever, I got the Cinderella Castle lol) and had some chicken at the Guy Fieri quick service restaurant. Pretty chill day.
And that’s about it! I regret not buying the Anniversary LoungeFly backpack that I saw everywhere and kept saying I wanted it but my boyfriend said I didn’t need it (which is true) and that it doesn’t hold anything except a toothpick (which is kinda true). Bought a bunch of other cool things though so I guess it’s alright lol! Miss it a lot and can’t wait to go back (already abstractly planning things out). Thanks for reading!
