Amateurs, Weekend Warriors, and Beginners are welcome! We love the pros, and want their input always, but sometimes it's nice to have a quiet corner to share our small daily struggles and ask those honest, yet rookie questions. This subreddit is about the increasingly divergent field of DSLR filmmaking and how we deal with Small Screen Distribution.

2024.05.17 08:57 GamingHearts1 How Silent Hill f Can Revive The Survival-Horror Genre
| https://preview.redd.it/p233wa5wpx0d1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfbe8e5ab298545f36ea85a78dc1793b6a3cadda It seems like the 2020’s decade might end up being a revival period for the survival-horror genre of gaming especially considering the success of games like Alan Wake 2 along with the Resident Evil 4: Remake. Its no secret that the survival horror genre of gaming has been slowly rising in popularity since the mid 2010’s with games like Dead By Daylight from ’16 which reportedly reached at least 25 million players back in 2022. Also, Dying Light 2: Stay Human was without a doubt one of the most popular video games of 2022 a year that paled in comparison to 2023 in relation to high profile video game releases. Even though, the Silent Hill series had seemingly reached its peak in popularity back in 2000’s this new title Silent Hill f could has the potential to revive the franchise. Also, if Silent Hill f ends up being a masterpiece it has the potential to help the survival-horror genre back on the map since most casual gamers are already familiar with the legendary franchise. As it currently stands there has been no official gameplay trailer for Silent Hill f and we have no official release date for the game at the moment. However, the gaming world is looking forward to learn more about Silent Hill f sometime in 2024. The Return to Silent Hill movie is expected to be released in theaters sometime 2024 and the potential success or failure of the film could end up affecting the interest that people have in the franchise itself going forward. We do not have too many high profile psychological survival-horror games in this day and age that matches the likes of Silent Hill 2 from 2001. During the past several years it seems like action-adventure and action role-playing games have received more mainstream attention than any other genre. Silent Hill f along with the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake are most likely going to be “M” rated games that could help put the survival-horror genre on the map along with Capcom’s Resident Evil 9 which is expected to appear sometime around 2025. submitted by GamingHearts1 to u/GamingHearts1 [link] [comments] |

| Janhvi Kapoor has always kept her relationship with Shikhar Pahariya low-key, but in a recent interview promoting her upcoming film Mr and Mrs Mahi, she opened up about their bond. The actress described Shikhar as her “support system” and revealed that they’ve practically raised each other, sharing dreams and aspirations along the way. Janhvi Kapoor and Shikhar Pahariya have been dating each other for a few years now. During an interview with Mirchi Plus, Janhvi was asked about the people who have supported her in her career. She mentioned her parents, the late Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, and then spoke warmly about Shikhar. “He has been in my life since I was 15-16. I think my dreams have always been his dreams and his dreams have always been my dreams. We’ve been very close. We’ve been each other’s support system almost as if we’ve raised each other,” she said, smiling. The interviewer noted the resemblance to a real-life Mr and Mrs Mahi moment, referencing Janhvi's earlier mention of her 'Shikhoo' on Koffee with Karan. Janhvi admitted she hadn’t planned to speak about Shikhar but felt compelled in the moment. “Plan nahi tha (Wasn’t the plan) but I think I was just like in the feels about it a little bit,” she explained. Hints of Janhvi and Shikhar's relationship first surfaced when she appeared on Koffee with Karan with Sara Ali Khan. She later confirmed their bond during an appearance with her sister Khushi Kapoor, casually mentioning Shikhar. The couple is often seen together at various events, and Janhvi has been spotted wearing a necklace with Shikhar's name. Despite recent rumors speculating that the couple might get married at Tirupati temple, Janhvi quickly dismissed them, responding with a firm “Kuch bhi (What even!)” on Instagram. In a Zoom interview, her father Boney Kapoor expressed his affection for Shikhar, noting that even during their past breakup, the two remained good friends. Janhvi’s candid revelations highlight a deep and enduring connection with Shikhar, shedding light on a relationship built on mutual support and shared dreams. submitted by woomedia to u/woomedia [link] [comments] |

| Any tips? Settings, sunny 16, things to avoid? I will be taking pics at all times of the day in sunny, rainy, night time, indoors etc conditions. The film is portra 400. I’ve been having issues underexposing my Makina67, and it’s made me a bit apprehensive on taking my next pictures. Swipe to see those pictures. I’ve followed the light meter, but I think it may be off, or it’s my issue. Also, the color on those feels weird. The film on those pics was Kodak Gold iso200 Thanks for everything guys. 2024.05.17 06:25 Afraid_Salamander713 So this is kinda an unpopular opinion but I really dislike it when the gang is either sexualized or shipped together, particularly Dally/Johnny
So this has been on my mind for a while now comming across these fandoms , and I don't mean for this post to come off as offensive to some or those who do ship the characters but I just really wanted to get my opinion across. I truly hope I'm not the only one who genuinely has a problem with the way male friendships are being reduced to romance or how the characters are sexualized in this fandom or fiction in general. The amount of posts that I see not only on Tumblr but on Pinterest of Dallas either shirtless or Ponyboy just being in a completely normal photo and people in the comments talking about how they want to do "dirty things" to pony, how they wanna sit on him, or just sexualizing poor Matt Dillion and the whole gang in general. Some of these photos aren't even sexual to begin with but these fangirls will always find a way to make this inappropriate, like yea we get it you find Soda attractive but sis he's still only 16! Like yes I've seen the posts and edits of that shower scene with the towel and it's gross. Like it's one thing to find a particular actor or character attractive and have a crush on them but these thirst traps and, just downright creepy comments, and edits comming from these GROWN WOMAN are insane. I mean even if they are just "fictional characters" I still feel like you should have far more respect and class than this. Some of the actors were still minors and others just barley legal teenagers when filming so it's still wrong either way. Now in regards to shipping the gang together I also have my fair share of opinions. Pinterest is in general a pretty weird and toxic place, like you can find a post for example with Johnny and Pony just standing next to each other and the comments are flooded with " they were roomates", or "they should've made out", "Johnny got cake" like you see where I'm going with this! Johnny is a child bro he literally looks like he's 10 years old wdym "he got that cake" should I put you on a watch list sir?? And not to mention the fanfiction especially on tumblr and Ao3 is pretty disgusting, they will literally write an extremely sexualized story of the whole friend group banging each other (and yes that included the three brothers) and ponyboy not to mention he's 14 shipping him with two-bit who's like 18. People nowadays will ship anything and everything, you could have two characters who virtually never interacted or otherwise just made eye contact for like 15 seconds and you already got the shippers flooding the fandoms ready to write love stories. It seems as though people just can't enjoy things for what they are instead of always trying to change plots and characters, and make every platonic male relashionship romantic or gay. People bring up how Pony and Johnny cuddled in the church and "friends don't do that" well it sounds more like you don't do that but some people are natrually more affectionate than others. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just that you can't base every assumption just becuase of what you see. Some who ship Dally and Johnny will being up the part in the book where Dally admits to Johnny being the only thing he ever loved and how he wanted to die for him. I'm sorry but I know plenty of guys who will take a bullet for their friends and say I love you it's no big deal and it's not gay either. Like do people really think that telling someone you love them equals to romantic attraction now? Like what about your family is it gay for a son to tell his father I love you?? Like I seriously don't understand some people's logic. I feel like these chronically online Tumblr fangirls are just a bunch of straight woman who have either never witnessed a positive male friendship or just find the idea of two good looking guys in a relationship. Either way it's pretty messed up if the only thought that comes to mind whenever two characters express emotion with each other is that they are dating. I mean I can't tell others what to ship but man are these fanfic writers weird.

2024.05.17 06:05 _aesahaettr_ Recommendations!
Just grabbed an X-T5, I’m making the swap from shooting Sony since 2018. Before that it was Nikon for almost a decade (death grip contract at work, just got used to it).
I’ve got the kit lens (16-80mm f/4 ~ yes, I’ve read about it… anyone have any good feedback? lol) and I grabbed the 35mm f/2 WR.
I’m trying to take it slow before I go jumping off the cliff and getting lenses but, I’d love some recommendations!
And some feedback on (if anyone has any):
- Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 (looking to swap this out for the kit lens. I have just read so much about the kit lens not being great)
- Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di (versus the above listed Sigma)
- XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR
- XF 50mm f/2 WR
- Sigma 16mm f/1.4 Contemporary
- Viltrox Pro 75mm f/1.2
And really any other recs, film recipe wise / shooting wise. This is a new eco system for me and it’s a little bit of a stumble but I’m loving it so far.
😅🙏

2024.05.17 05:43 gympandabear Seronegative RA or something else?
Hello, I am a 27F who was previously very athletic and into heavy weightlifting. Symptoms started in 2021 and fast forward to now and I can’t weight lift, can barely do my work so relying mainly on my partner, and basically feeling like I’m falling apart.
Family history
- Grandmother has severe RA
Medicines:
- Norethindrone birth control, imitrex/sumatriptan, Allegra, just started taking quercetin, tumeric, vitamin D + K, and magnesium. Was on 40mg of prednisone for about a month and recently finished a fast taper last week.
Prior to 2021
- Always had some form of feeling sick when stressed, grandma with RA said she faced similar symptoms when she was younger
- Dealt with radiating pain in right leg (pinched nerve feeling), low back pain here and there which I thought was due to weak erector spinae and imbalance due to scoliosis because once I started weight training back aching went away
2021
- May: Overworked at job and developed severe debilating joint pain. Couldn’t even lift 10lbs and starting limping because knee was hurting so badly. Saw a primary care who ran blood tests (C reactive, RF, and anti-ccp) all came back normal so the doc brushed it off thinking it was just my body’s response to stress and because I’m young I’m probably fine. Quit my job and 3 months later went back to feeling normal. Took x-rays of knees, hips and shoulders. Sports medicine doc said knees showed some wear and tear, shoulder showed more wear and tear from overuse injury and called it osteoarthritis in the shoulders, hips were slightly uneven but nothing too remarkable
- Nov: got COVID that resulted in lost of smell and taste, hair loss, pretty bad brain fog, etc.
2022
- July: Covid again, but mild and still have memory issues
- August: Joint pain and feeling of overtraining without working out started appearing (would appear in cycles/phases where I would suddenly not be able to workout and then be fine for a month then back to not feeling well for the rest of 2022)
- Sudden major mood swings (which later found out linked to high cortisol levels), migraines becoming more frequent but still manageable, increased heart rate randomly while at rest, frequent dizzy spells (I would need to sit down sometimes) but always felt like in some form of lightheaded or dizzy state and just learned to adjust as my new “normal”
- Nov- Jan (’23) Severe unknown respiratory virus that lead to bell’s palsy (recovered now), found enlarged pituitary on MRI when looking at the bells palsy as well as herniated disc with nerve compression in neck (which now explained the constant pain in shoulders on top of overuse injury)
- Sometime in 2022 I started having some back pain but it was different than what I’d previously experienced. Pain in shoulders started flaring again as well
2023
- Jan-March: Tested high on cortisol multiple times and high ACTH once, looked into Cushing’s diagnosis from here until Feb 2024
- May: Covid pretty bad for a third time. I had a high fever, severe body aches, etc. Saw Endoniologist but was moving so they advised I continued care at my next location
- June/July: started to feel better and hoped it was just my body recovering from the 4 viruses
- September: symptoms appeared again, migraine frequency now increasing to a couple times a month
- Oct: overtraining feeling getting worse, at this point I was not working out as often due to the previous times I wasn’t feeling good I adjusted my training to only a few times a week if that.
- December: Migraine has increased to once a week, did not experience any period of feeling better like I did in 2022 where I had phases of feeling better.
- Saw a new sports medicine doctor for radiating leg pain. Also noted I was feeling spine pain (not muscle but pain in my spine). X-ray didn’t show much so they ordered an MRI and found “L5-S1 mild degenerative disc diseases with small left suarticular zone/foraminal disc protrusion without nerve root compression” even though it stated no nerve compression the doc believed it was still most likely the cause of my leg pain and did a steroid injection in the SI joint which helped for a month but couldn’t explain some of the spine pain I was having. MRI also found “mild joint arthropathy” in L3-L4, “mild hypertrophic facet joint arthropathy” in L4-L5, “left subarticular zone disc protrusion with left foramina extension superimposed on mild diffuse disc bulge. Mild narrowing of the left lateral recess. Mild facet joint arthropathy” in L5-S1.
2024
- Jan: Migraines increase to 2-3 times a week so started on triptans as doc thought it was the same migraines not fully going away. First triptan didn’t really work so started a second one (sumatriptan) and migraine would still last for 2 days (took one pill first day and would help but next day still lingered so would take a second dose and then it would go away). Working out has now changed to be bare minimum (light weight machines)
- Feb: Tested high cortisol again on blood (42, end limit 19), and one salivary cortisol came back high, low vitamin D and increased A1C from October. Referred to endocrinologist again. Endocrinologist PA said severity of symptoms wouldn’t be cushings. Did a dexamethasone test which came back normal and suggested I see Rheumatologist for possible seronegative RA (I didn’t tell the endocrinologist about my previous RA check so when they mentioned if I had heard of RA and I told them I tried testing and it came back negative they then told me about seronegative RA)
- March: Joint symptoms and feeling of overtraining severely increased. Stopped being able to lift weights including machines. Tried to still play volleyball but can barely play. Joint pain now prominent in fingers, wrist and elbows, on top of knees and shoulder pain. Low spine very noticeably in pain. (Not muscular pain, literally pain on the spine). Morning stiffness has increased, back would sometimes feel “stuck” and fingers would ache pretty bad. Weather was also very cold and snowing while randomly switching to 70s and back to snowing which did not help. Migraines calmed down to 2 times a month.
- April: Saw NP at rheumatology who ordered tests and leaning towards RA or AS, more so AS. Placed on high dose of prednisone. Started with 20mg but didn’t help so increased to 40mg which helped (not completely but did notice a difference). On prednisone for about a month (into May). NP took x-rays of hands, hip and feet and said they looked normal. Ordered blood tests which got delayed a month (just received them will note below)
- May/now: Just finished prednisone (was a fast taper from 40 to 30, 20,10,5,5,5) and feeling the pain in my back come back as well as my fingers, elbows, etc. Migraine also came back a lot worse, had a three day long strong migraine that didn’t respond to sumatriptan and had to go to urgent care for a shot. The shot got rid of the migraine for a few days but feeling another one coming back less than a week later.
- Got MRI with contrast of the pelvic and found “mild pubic symphyseal arthritis with osteophytic ridging and mild degenerative marrow signal change” and again the L5-S1 spondylosis
- Due to the messed up labs, I had to get my blood drawn for these test while on 40mg on predinose. These were the notable results: High white blood cell count (11.8 x10 3/UL, reference range 3.8-10.8 x 10 3/UL), Low neutrophils (32%, reference range 42-75%), High lymphocytes (65%, reference range 16-52%), High lympocytes (7.7 x 10 3/UL, reference range 1.2-3.4 x 10 3/UL), Low Carbon Dioxide level (23 nmol/L, reference range 24-33 nmol/L). Rheumatoid factor was normal ( <9 IU/ml, reference range 0-12 IU/ml), C-reactive protein extended range was normal (<0.03 mg/dL, reference range 0-0.5 mg/dL). Erythrocyte sedimentation rate normal (4 mm/Hr, reference range 0-19 mm/Hr). Anti-CCP normal (<16 units, reference range <20 negative). My anti-ccp in 2021 was 3 so while it’s still within normal range it did increase. Hep A antibody abnormal (reactive, however I’m pretty sure I received the Hep A vaccine)
- I feel like having my tests done while on 40mg of prednisone affected my results in a negative way but I’m not sure if it actually affects them or not
Any insights are greatly appreciated as my symptoms are getting noticeably worse with no answers.

2024.05.17 04:17 Moonchildbeast Updates in The Stand
Who else gets completely annoyed with the updated references in The Stand? I don’t know if, or how many times, this has been discussed here but I have no one else to talk about it with.
For reference, I’ve only read the uncut version, which came out in 1990 when I was 16. Obviously the original was too adult for me, having been released in the late 70s.
I’ve tried to think about it, like if I had a body of work that was great, how would I update it? And he added some things that were appropriate, like the AIDS epidemic. But the whole book is so steeped in 70s….everything, that it’s impossible to believe that Madonna was on the radio when “Boogie” was a common phrase, and was actually also in several song titles. “Boogie Fever” At least 5 references to “Boogie” something or other were mentioned all over the book. Sorry but that was NOT 1990. Disco wasn’t just over, we barely even knew what it was.
Frannie was supposedly born in 69 but her high school references are American International bike films (?) and AC/DC Fly on the Wall. “Things to remember” included the Kool Aid “Ohhh YEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!” I remember that too, from when I was about 4.
Even when we meet Stu, they’re talking about a recession. Ok there was also a recession in 1990, but it just didn’t feel like the one on 1980. To be fair I can’t even remember it, but all the references to someone having a color television as if they’re privileged really brings me back to being a little kid. That’s when we had a black and white tv. Lots of people had one stashed somewhere, and it wasn’t weird but it also wasn’t the usual.
It’s Stephen King’s work and he can do what he wants with it of course, but I wish he’d have kept everything like that as it was. Part of why I love all of his work is that I can picture the time period it was written. Like if he went back and rewrote the stories in Night Shift to include computers and IPads and Netflix I really wouldn’t like it as much. He’s so great at creating a mood, and I think his updates destroy that a bit.
I honestly just ignore it as much as possible, since it’s a fictional world and anything is possible, but still. Ok rant over.

Im aiming for a 4k setup and as this is my first build I am still a bit hesitant on my selections. Any thoughts on the components I have eyed up?
I am also searching for any way I might be able to cut costs down a bit or keep cost similar if I am able to make the physical footprint smaller as I don't have a ton of space. Ideally I would like to get closer to the 2k-2.2k range.

2024.05.17 04:10 keijikage Short Exempts - Part 4 - Market structure seems to be breaking.
| Obligatory reference to the original theory - the concepts are here https://www.reddit.com/Superstonk/comments/1crlabt/short_exempt_why_volume_churns_endlessly_cf Today was a very interesting day - We got a dump kind of as expected since the short exempt rolling into today was not that big (~239k), meaning that there would be less pressure on the lending pool. Considering that a bunch of options would have been pushed out of the money or cut their losses, this more or less makes sense. Price action for May 15th, 2024 A lot of short exempts today - 1,808,411 on 72 million volume, or roughly 2.5% Shares on Loan went down from 98.91million to 90.85 million - roughly back to the May 7th levels. Interestingly yesterday there was a very large set of options trades deep in the money that did not show up in the open interest today. I would agree with the interpretation that these were exercised immediately in order to pass the obligation to find the shares onto the options market maker (4million shares). Since these were contracts on options with low volume/open interest, the trading party would actually know who would be assigned. Most likely these shares will need to show up by next Wednesday or Thursday. Lots of options that didn't really make sense got traded in a block at 3.03pm through the BOX exchange. These didn't show up in the open interest so they were exercised immediately. Whether or not this falls under the sham close out would be whether or not the MM believes they can fill it later. From the tone of their hit pieces, I imagine that they do. ( https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2013-151) On Loan decreased for 5/15, but this makes sense given the price movement and large block of options exercised immediately - these shares are still waiting settlement from a market maker so they don't have to be borrowed. The short exempt on 5/16 is still relatively elevated. Luckily, we had movement in a number of tickers today that didn't really make any sense. No names. It's too late to get this one now, but the data below is really interesting In a way, you can see the short exempt volume rolling over into the on-loan quantity. I wouldn't recommend you buy this one either, but the data is also very interesting. The volume today is 7 times the shares outstanding. How does that work? Last one I will do - there are a few more. Similarly, you can see the short exempt volume rolling over into the on-loan quantities. The volume today for this one is 56 times the shares outstanding. I am very excited to see what happens next week. I'm going to have to contact my doctor soon. PS. I don't have an options scanner so if there's any funny stuff give me a heads up. PPS. Just because they are illegal doesn't mean they can't do reset transactions. No yolos. submitted by keijikage to Superstonk [link] [comments] |
2024.05.17 04:10 newwobblywheeler Thursday May 16 Trading Facts
Today's trading facts: The total volume traded pre-market, post- market and regular trading hours was about~12 M shares of which 2,982,469 shares were shorted and so if they were covered 2X (~6M) by end of day with VWAP at $3.1. The shares on the dark pool was 5,414,99 ...so in reality how many shares were taken off retail hands is the big question. As it is evident that even from the early posting of 13F that institutions are buying in..the VWAP for 120 days is $3 except for the last four days.
Retail hold on to your shares from predatory hands...lock them up for sale price so brokerages cannot borrow them for shorting...reduce the liquidity for shorting. In addition, do not put stops and do not buy shares on margin as below $3...the shares were scooped by the brokerages. You may ask how do the big boys pick off the shares...they use a third or fourth decimal to the bid in the dark pool and the lit pool cannot see it but Citadel and Virtu who are the gatekeepers see and act accordingly.
Kindly retail look the short interest numbers from April 30 for NYSE (42,586,717) and TSX(17,816,044) = ~60.4M which is down from 61.5M from Apr 15. From April 16-30 on NYSE 54M shares traded between $2.64-2.98 with VWAP of $2.80 and only 1.6M shares were covered while on TSX 33.8M traded between $3.66-4.00 with VWAP of $3.85 while further 543,138 shares were shorted.
The present SI is well above the NYSE(43,485,405)+TSX(12,538,405)= 57,023,447 shares in Jan 2021 during the meme run!
CNBC is saying that the meme run is over but in reality I am not certain.
The SEC rule to be implemented is in works and the basis of the meme rally which is a lot broader this time as numerous short positions have been held with SWAPs, synthetic shares and naked shorting and this is why Roaring Kitty alerted retail but it is measured and controlled by the MM but with 60.4M shares short. If you read my report yesterday 94M shares traded on NYSE but how many shorts really covered is the question...no many shares were available to short but today there is larger volume to create a bear trap...the meme rally will continue with ebb and flow for the month until:
finra.org/rules-guidance/gu... Next, It is believed that the SWAPS big time on BB happened with the last meme run and because there was a 60M debenture as free shares for shorting the shorts and SWAPS felt that by deliberately compressing the price of the stock either PW will convert and provide further liquidity or BB would do a money raise with shares as AMC did today and provided share liquidity to the shorts! However, because BB did a note raise which was oversubscribed and restricted in share conversion for the past three months the MM have constrained the stock to allow covering but reality is the SI remains high at 60.4M it is possible the SWAPS may have been covered but additional shares requires liquidity and so the meme run initiation but controlled to harvest shares but at a low price. The new SEC rule added a further complication so you may have seen Ken Griffin doing interview which one could see through...ah business secrets...really! Citadel and Virtu are the gatekeepers of flow and manipulation.
