2024.05.19 19:54 Commercial-Exit-6593 Promoted to Customer after 2 shifts.

I’ll start with a short background on myself. I am a contractor. I have plenty of work to do, but it is all outdoors, so if it’s raining, I’m not making money. If I get sick and need some rest, I’m not making money. I decided to apply for a Part-time position in retail sales at Lowe’s, with the idea that it would help supplement my income, and I could have some benefits. My first shift was scheduled 10:00-4:00. Myself and 2 other guys sat in front of computers for about 4 of those 5 hours. The other hour was spent getting a tour of the employee accessible areas. We were not offered a 15 minute break throughout the 5 hours we were there. I didn’t think much of it because we were essentially on break, sitting in front of a computer, watching endless videos and taking endless quizzes. Move on to the next day. I was scheduled to work 4:00pm-11:00pm in Building Materials and Lumber. I was told to watch videos and take quizzes from 4:00-6:00 and then go to Lumber and find my Mentor. At 6:00, someone sent an associate from Lumber to get me and tell me that we had to load cinder blocks and cap blocks on a trailer. This guy drives a forklift full of cinder blocks to the trailer, takes his seatbelt off, then I ask what he’s doing. He says we are going to hand load this trailer. I told him to just set the pallet down inside the trailer with his lift. He refused and we commence to hand load 50 cinder blocks and 20 cap blocks. After that was complete, he grabs a leaf blower and starts blowing Sheetrock dust that was about 6 inches deep, all over the outside bay area. (Pointless and dumb) So now I can’t breathe due to so much concrete and Sheetrock dust. By this point I’m beyond frustrated. I find my Mentor and ask when I’m allowed to take a break. He said when you finish the concrete isle. I spent the remainder of my shift restacking 80 pound bags of concrete. I asked for a break 5 times throughout my 7 hour shift and was not allowed to take one. The ASM was beside me when I clocked out. I laughed at the time clock asking if I was sure my time punch was correct. Then I had to explain to her what had happened. She tells me to not do that again and I must take breaks and mea breaks as well. I told her I was not happy about any of it. I was scheduled to work the following day, 11:00-6:00. I clocked in at 10:55. Went to Building materials and could not find anyone that I was supposed to be working with, so I go to the break room….nobody. I go back to building materials and lumber and still could not find anyone, so I sat in my truck for about 45 minutes, went back inside to see if I could find anyone….still, no one. So I left my name badge and safety knife on the HR reps desk, clocked out and left. They didn’t realize I was gone until 6:15. 15 minutes after my shift was supposed to end. If you’re considering working for Lowe’s; do yourself a favor and don’t. Stay on that customer level. You don’t want to know what it’s really like in that place. I would prefer to not know what I know about Lowe’s. Now I don’t even want to shop there.

Weekend Box Office (May 17th-19th)

The Last Frenzy back on top this weekend ending out the new release Hovering Blade which in turn edges of Twilight of the Warriors for 2nd.
Planet of the Apes records a solid 2nd weekend drop to land in 4th.
A slew of romance flicks litter the charts but none really making a significant impact.
Meanwhile The Fall Guy debuts with a dissastrous $0.71M. Below pretty much any other big budget Holywood movie in the last 2 years only really beating Madame Web which opened with $0.66M. It debuted below movies like M3GAN, Gran Turismo, TMNT:MM. Less than 1/3 of the opening weekends of flops like Indy and The Little Mermaid. Nowhere near stuff like Shazam 2 and Dungeons and Dragons.

Other stuff:

The next holywood releases currently scheduled The Fall Guy on May 17th, Civil War and Furiosa on June 7th, Inside Out 2 on June 21st and Despicable Me 4 on July 12th
Some rumors suggest Garfield could release around Childers Day on the 1st of June.
On the Japanese front Doraemon 43 is next on the list with a confirmed May 31st release which was expected as its right on the verge of Children's Day on June 1st.
Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump will release on the 15th June.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! The Movie will also release at some point.

Release Schedule:

A table including upcoming movies in the next month alongside trailers linked in the name of the movie, Want To See data from both Maoyan and Taopiaopiao alongside the Gender split and genre.
Remember Want To See is not pre-sales. Its just an anticipation metric. A checkbox of sorts saying your interested in an upcoming movie.
Not all movies are included since a lot are just too small to be worth covering.
Childrens Day(June 1st):
Childrens Day is more official with Children under 14 getting half a day off. It mostly sees the release of a few animated movies and this year should be no different with Doraemon releasing on the date alongside a local animation.
There will probably be atleast a few more movies scheduled for that weekend including potentialy Garfield.

Frank could have slept in the trailer, but he preferred being in the van under current circumstances. He could scare off anyone who got a bright idea to try and steal the vehicle, for one thing. And if something happened in the motel room, if Jenna and Mike needed help, he was closer.
Not that any of that seemed likely; this place seemed dead as hell.
The motel was a not-too-busted-down place. The town it sat at the edge of was a wide-spot-in-the-road type. An out-of-the-way hamlet, some might call it. To Frank's parents, the town would have seemed ideal. Small enough to seem homey and friendly — and Christian, of course — but large enough to have the basic amenities: a pool of suckers for Mama's MLM sales and other schemes, people looking for someone like Papa who could at least seem to fix anything for cheap, and an attitude that led people to mind their own business, even with new folks and strangers, leaving no one too inclined to call in Youth Services or the equivalent at every sign of a bruise or a scrape or bleeding backs or broken limbs.
They'd done a lot of midnight runners out of places where people showed some level of neighborly concern. Left a lot of things behind in rented houses and apartments.
The best time had been when Frank was between the ages of five and seven. They lived with Grampa and Gramma Schnedeker then, and all the kids who were old enough got to go to proper school for a while, like school-school. Grampa Schnedeker needed a lot of looking after, and Gramma wanted the kids out of the house at least a few hours a day so as not to disturb him too much.
Since they got to go to school, Frank and his siblings right on either side actually learned to properly read and do the beginnings of math and such. Mama said all they needed to read was the Bible, and Papa said math was only important as far as helping him measure and cut lumber and pipe for projects, but still, the kids learned. And when Grampa Schnedeker died and the family moved on, the kids who had got school for a while tried to keep up and to teach things to the little ones.
That got stopped pretty quick, and Mama took over the "lessons," which really just meant she handed the kids their little workbooks every morning after breakfast and left them to work — QUIETLY as she always demanded — while she went and schmoozed sales or whatever. All the boys stopped having any "lessons" after 10 years old. That was when they would start going to work with Papa.
All the boys besides Frank, anyway. But that was before anyone besides Frank even knew that Frank was a boy.
And boy, had that been Hell on Earth when he finally outright told them he was a boy. Mama went to scream-praying like she tended to, and Papa tried to beat Frank to death, and then he did other things that really almost did kill Frank, but luckily Susie called 911.
It was Hell after, too. All that time in the hospital, and the stuff was on the news, and then Frank was sent to foster parents practically across the country. Those first ones were okay, except they also didn't believe Frank was a boy. They just tried to send him to a conversion therapist, who somehow luckily realized that there was no converting Frank and tipped off the social workers. Frank got new foster parents who accepted him, helped him get a name change, and even let him stay with them after he aged out of the foster system, until he could get his GED and see about college.
And then there was college, with his new name and his new clothes and finally being himself, and then the year of college, he met Jenna, and everything since then had been almost golden.
He could not sleep, crunched up in the driver's seat of the van with his head full of memories, so instead he just let it all play, the good and the bad, until it was almost sunrise and he needed to piss like a racehorse.
Then he got out of the van and went to knock at the door of the motel room. After he peed, he would ask Jenna if she minded taking the first shift driving today.
Gotta be up early and get everything together. Danna hated cooking, so Derick made breakfast, got the kids settled, and carried a plate back to his wife, still ensconced in the big bed in the back of the RV.
God had said that the wife should be the one to tend to the home and children, had he not? And yet, if the wife was unable to do some part of that, surely the man, in his free moments, should try and help. Thus, Derick would cook and would see that the children had breakfast, since Danna had such trouble sleeping, and then had trouble waking in the morning, especially when she was pregnant.
And if Danna's mother had never taught her to cook, well, that was the sin of Peggy Lynn Sooks, not her daughter. God would punish Peggy for her failures as a wife and mother.
Other than the sleeping trouble and the aversion to some of the arts of housewifery, Danna was excellent. She was really smart, figuring out how to put together all the social media stuff. And she was always ready to go whenever God told Derick they needed to pick up and move on. She greeted each trip, long or short, with joy, and she treated her other wifely obligations with equal joy.
Perhaps too much joy, sometimes. Danna, for example, took great joy in the act of procreation. That was good, of course, for they were to be fruitful and multiply and spread their family over the Earth to carry the Truth of God's message.
But the act of procreation, sacred and holy as it might be, was never something Derick greatly enjoyed. He did not, as he knew some husbands did, press his wife to fulfill her duties every night. In fact, their marriage had not been conssumated for nearly two months after the wedding, simply because Derick was disinclined. It took Danna reminding him that God's holy word also said a husband should satisfy his wife, and then they finally joined fully in their union.
Still, they did not do it often, unless Danna pressed Derick. As the years went on, she did so more and more, and so he let her have her desire. It was his duty as a husband.
Today, they would stay here. God had said they would be here about a week. Danna seemed happy with that, and the children seemed pleased as well.
They always seemed happiest when the family stopped wandering a while.
Derick had tried to explain to the children why they moved around so much, and why they must keep doing so. He thought perhaps the oldest two boys were beginning to understand. The little ones were still far from such wisdom, but there was time yet.
There was time.

2024.05.19 13:33 KittyLove107 Should I accept this job offer?

Hi all,
I’m deciding whether to accept a job offer and need some advice. I've been an outside rep for my current employer for 3 years and loved it until my company made changes on Jan 1. I used to sell office trailers, a dynamic, relationship-based sale with lots of autonomy. Now, I only sell containers, which are very transactional, and I have little autonomy (in-office M-Th, approved road days only). Additionally, my new manager is a demoralizing micromanager with excessive focus on Salesforce activity.
The new offer is a packaging sales job at Lindenmeyr Munroe. Pros: autonomy over WFH/road days, a chill manager, and a similar base salary. Cons: it's 100% cold calling, and while I’m confident in my skills, I'm worried about market and product viability. I might inherit some accounts as reps retire, but it's not guaranteed.
Are there any packaging reps who can share their experiences? I’m ready for a change but wonder if it's best to stick with the current role. I’m in CT and would also be selling other solutions (paper, wide format, Jan San, etc.). Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

2024.05.19 08:25 EmojiOfAKeyboard Looking for advice on getting our first camper

We are looking to buy our first (used) camper sometime next winteearly spring & are in need of some advice before we go down the rabbit hole.
why a camper now?
wife dreamt of a camper for the last 3+ years, and we are ready to start the research process
why we think we are ready?
after owning a boat, i've learned a lot about maintenance and learned how to tackle something big and new to me. In addition, having the ability to know how to pull/back-up a trailer will make buying a camper MUCH easier than a complete newbie.
what are we pulling it with?
either an f150 or a subaru outback wilderness ("rated" for towing 3500lb)
the perfect camper can be pulled with the subaru as we prefer a smaller camper, and it frees up the truck to pull the boat for a weekend trip to the lake with both the camper & boat.
but i understand that may not be possible based on the below needs.
what size camper?
preferably < 8ft wide... and "small enough that an SUV can pull it"
what are MUST HAVES in a camper?
1) although many teardrop campers look perfect in their tiny size. We THINK that we are set on having wet bath. as the point of this camper is to be able to travel/work remotely. And if we need to stop at a campsite/hotel/etc. to shower, then it makes the whole process harder.
In addition, my wife will jump in a lake, camp in a tent... but absolutely hates most campsite showers. Being able to bathe in privacy makes this whole thing a lot more enticing for us do.
2) kitchen area + refrigerator for cooking
3) bed for 2 adults + room on floor for 35lb/12lb dogs
4) table to sit a laptop for work
5) AC/Heat
what are other considerations in a camper?
1) the camper is mainly for us, yet it would be nice to have some space for a blow up mattress in case someone else wanted to join... but that is not worth getting a huge camper for. smaller is better.
2) i think kitchen inside is better but idk

TLDR:

right now this is an example camper size/style that my brain tells me is what we should look for: Bushwhacker 17FD

2024.05.18 20:43 KentuckyBZ No HOA but my neighbor tells me to move my travel trailer from my drive way or send me to court

Hi all, first post here asking for some help. Thanks a lot in advance.
I live in northern Kentucky and in a neighborhood with 50 ish single family houses. There is no HOA. I have a 20 ft travel trailer that is parked right in front of my drive way completely on my lot. Because it is a pretty small trailer, I am able to park my SUV completely on my drive way between my trailer and the walk way. Before I started parking the trailer 3 years ago, I checked with my immediate neighbors just in case, it bothers them. All of them have no problems. This year, one of my neighbors 4 house away told me that I need to remove the trailer and some of neighbors are not happy me having my trailer on my own drive way. He also handed me a 4-page document saying that he can sent me to court. Below is the text from the first page of that document. In that document, it says no RV allowed more than 5 days.
My question is that, am I violating some law or regulation that I had to move my small trailer? I bought the house without HOA partially for the reason I can park my trailer. Thanks!!

2024.05.18 20:22 Initial-Mango4349 Onan v. Predator generator - RV

Thank you in advance for any advice.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this subject for me. We have a 30' travel trailer (first time) and are buying our first generator. We do not need one for the house, our city has really good power and no issues with climate; so dual purpose is not necessary. This is really just to power our air conditioner at night in the trailer, rarely a microwave (which we can just turn off the AC) or anything else.
I recently purchased an Onan P4500i Cummins on sale for $1200 (usually $1500) from a local dealer. Got the thing home, setup and the battery was dead (manual said it came fully charged), no big deal I'll just run it for a couple hours to charge; wrong, it was dead dead. Worst part was the thing was really loud, but it's advertised as Super Quiet 54db. I could run this thing out front of my house and hear it from the very back of the house really clearly, hardly quiet with no load. It's possible it's just an all around bad unit but from the reviews on Reddit I don't think so; they seem to just be reliable, but loud.
I started looking at a Honda 2200, since I have an in law that has that same one and it's worked great for their AC in their trailer. I looked up a conversion online and it looks like it is very under-spec'd for an AC unit though, it should be at least a 3500 to reliably run an AC; albeit I have never had issues with their 2200 overloading, I'm just going by the book.
Recently a brother of mine recommended Predator as it's nearly identical to Honda at a lower price. My father in law has a Predator 2200 (same experience as the Honda to run their AC, no overload) and it is as dead silent as the Honda. So I started looking at Harbor Freight for the 3500 and 5000.
I'm looking at the Predator 3500 for the price point, quietness, and the fact that it should reliably run the AC at night. However, it doesn't come with remote start/stop and that would be really nice, I know that runs a couple hundred dollars and for almost the same price I could get the 5000 (runs at around 3900, 5000 is peak) which comes with remote start/stop already on it, and can do dual fuel.
A few questions:
  1. Should I get the Predator 5000 (from Harbor Freight locally) since it seems to be the best deal with remote start and can reliably run my AC per the conversion, or should I be looking at something else?
  2. Is the Onan P4500i Cummins loud for anyone else or did I just get a dud and should be looking at getting another one (4500 is peak, runs around 3900)?
  3. Should I just get the Predator 3500 and add remote start instead of the 5000?
  4. If I were to get the Predator 5000, why does anyone use propane rather than just use gas?
Edit: I returned the Onan already.

Help learn me something b4 Offering for sale 1996 Allison 20’ Mercury 225HP
Looking to sell this 1996 Allison 20 ft single axel Trailer for a relative. Boat stayed in shop and he unexpectedly passed away and i believe he had just got it ready for the summer but I don’t know, have most of the receipts for parts but it’s almost like there’s 2 different setups here and then what looks like the story of a bad day Prop broke and all the used parts. Beautiful boat I almost couldn’t believe it when I seen registration have it a 1996 bc it appeared flawless to me. I believe he was prolly an always not fast enough sorta thinker and Engine I believe is Modded and Tuned. It’s a boat that was very well cared for and had no plans of going anywhere. Kinda a ideal scenario for someone in the market for a used boat Already getting a lot of messages about boat and it will be going for sale but want to take to Proffesional Boat Mechanic first to tell me what all everything is and the specifics, run it.

2024.05.18 19:45 USA_Anti_stalking YouTuber stopped and destroyed by law enforcement receives 24 mandatory years in prison on false charges.

My sister Rebecca Bumgardner was a youtube journalist who was exposing police corruption in Lowndes County Mississippi on her youtube channel "Lowndes County Accountability" https://youtube.com/@mississippiqueenaudits?si=HJa17BTgc7LZgv_3. She began her activism back in 2020 due to her being arrested for "talking" by Lowndes County sheriff's department. Please refer to her channel to watch the body cam footage as well as her own video footage of the same event titled "TYRANT ALERT!!! HELP!!!!! ARRESTED FOR TALKING!!!". She filed and personally delivered a formal complaint regarding this incident directly to sheriff Eddie Hawkins. She also video documented this particular event as well. Please also refer to her channel and see video footage titled "REBECCA HANDS COMPLAINT FORMS DIRECTLY TO SHERIFF EDDIE HAWKINS". To all of our (the family) knowledge there wasn't any investigation done into the matter nor was Rebecca ever contacted regarding an investigation to her complaints she had indeed filed with the department. She has documented denials of FOIA requests with the sheriff's department concerning this matter as well as other matters of even greater importance. Shortly after filing these complaints and continuing in her activism against police corruption my sister started noticing being followed by local sheriff's deputy vehicles. She was eventually pulled over for speeding which immediately turned into an illegal k9 search situation resulting in no drugs being found but Rebecca receiving minor traffic tickets. She also video documented that incident as well. Please refer to her channel and see video footage titled "K9, stupid cop ID refusal, 🤩🙂UPDATE: 5/10/2022 💥ALL CHARGES DISMISSED💥 LAWSUIT INCOMING". It wasn't long after that Sheriff Eddie Hawkins came to her residence, exited his personal vehicle and seemingly made a mental visual outlay of the place then attempted to leave without saying a word to anyone! I remember this in detail because she called me moments after he left to tell me how she went outside her home and introduced herself and got him to shake her hand before he left! Extremely odd behavior of a sheriff to appear at a little old trailer park for no reason we both thought until the unimaginable happened. On July 6th 2022 the Lowndes County sheriff's department staged a drug raid on my sister's home with no valid warrant and arrested her without an arrest warrant and charged her with sale of methamphetamine. Please refer to her channel to see the home surveillance footage and her account of that day. It is titled "RAID Footage 💥Lance Luckey, SHERIFF EDDIE HAWKINS is PACKET PHOTO editor🤣". My sister eventually was able to make bond on these false charges and she continued in her activism along with video documentation of all her encounters with any law enforcement as well as with anyone affiliated or employed by any local government offices she had to come in contact with to attempt to obtain all information on her new charges as well as information needed for her intended lawsuit against several local officials including the Lowndes County sheriff's department. Please refer to her channel to watch all the material as all of the video footage is relative to this story. While out on bond Rebecca continued to be harassed by local deputies and even falsely arrested again by the sting unit for failure to obey. She was video documenting this particular incident but her phone was stolen by deputies! She was able to obtain the body cam footage of only one certain officer via FOIA request once she bonded out but was never able to get her personal cell phone back. Please refer to her channel and see video footage titled "Illegally arrested for FTO by STING LCSO 662-328-6788". There is so much more to this story in between but I intended to make a short story out of a long ordeal. Look ya'll my sister was by no means perfect but she never sold methamphetamine. On May 26th 2023 my sister Rebecca Bumgardner was maliciously prosecuted and falsely convicted on not only one but three false counts of sale of methamphetamine and sentenced to 24 mandatory years in prison! She didn't receive a fair trial nor did she have adequate representation. Had she had either of those she would have beat those charges. I am currently working on obtaining other means of proving my sister has been falsely convicted and praying I don't end up there with her because of it! Please consider her story so we can help this not happen to the next person if nothing else. Thank u for ur time in reading this material.

'The Garfield Movie' - possible early signs of a hit
After hearing how well it has done overseas, and after seeing (and laughing at) the trailers, feel that the 'Garfield' movie will be a hit. But it is too early to know for sure. Open caption (on-screen subtitles) screenings pre-sales are how we determine if a movie will be a hit. Why: most open caption screenings are at less popular times, and the majority of screenings do not have open captions. Therefore, when open caption screenings do pre-sell, that's an indication that people are actively seeking out the open caption screening and want to see the movie badly enough that they don't mind going at a less popular time. It also means people are planning way ahead to see the movie, with open captions when there are plenty of non-captioned screenings to choose from.
Right now, the overall numbers are lousy. The tickets sold/number of screen times ratio is terrible, less than 1 percent, for 45 tickets total pre-sold and 47 screentimes. However, there are glimmers here and there of a possible hit.
If there is enough interest, we can do another post with a table with all the data, updating it as the time gets closer. For now, including a screenshot of the current data (still adding dates/screentimes to spreadsheet - it is time-consuming work).
Otherwise, we will not be posting about 'The Garfield Movie' again until, and unless, the ticket/screentime ratio reaches 5 percent or higher. In our book, a movie does not achieve hit status until that ticket/screentime ratio is 5 percent or more.
We personally want to see the Garfield movie when it comes out and will be seeing an open caption screening of it. Have read and enjoyed the comic strip for years.

2024.05.18 19:10 Prior_Piano9940 SE only marketed Rebirth to existing fans and that was a huge mistake

I know everyone wants to attribute the sales disappointment to exclusivity, it being a sequel, etc. but I think marketing might have been the biggest downfall to its success.
Some anecdotes:
It being a sequel is not as significant of a problem. Casual audiences don’t care about that. I have a friend who I saw Hobbit 2 with despite her not seeing the first hobbit. For some reason the marketing got through to her and she showed interest. I know people who jumped into game of thrones in the later seasons and then went back to catch up. There are so many anecdotes. Some people started mass effect with the second game. Etc etc.
Now onto marketing, very anecdotal I know since it’s a sample size of 1 but I showed my gf the first 2 or 3 trailers and she was like no way. I knew she’d love it but the trailers did nothing for her. In fact, they made her actively disinterested. Me on the other hand, was like omg it’s this or that over and over again. To me, seeing red in a soldier uniform is amazing. To her it’s stupid and confusing. Here’s the sad part though…
She ended up watching large parts of the game sitting next to me while doing homework or paid work and even sometimes not doing anything at all. She was really into it, to the point where the next time she watched, I would catch her up to what happened and she would listen intently. And that red 13 soldier scene? She loved it.

The market hits ¥112M/$15.5M which is up +106% versus yesterday and up +24% versus last week.
The Fall Guy continues to massively underperform rising just +12% versus yesterday after evening bussiness collapses. It also already lost over 60% of its screenings from yesterday. 2 day total stands at just $0.53M matching Madame Web's 2 day total. Well below the 2 day totals of Argyle($1M), TLM($1.66M), Dial of Destiny($1.69M), Napoleon($2.04M), Wish($2.88M). Also bellow TMNT:MM($0.60M).
Weekend is looking like it will barelly limp past $0.70M. One of the most shockingly poor openings for a big budget holywood movie i can remember. This transends Holywood declining in China. Its just a straight up complete rejection of a movie.

Childrens Day(June 1st):
Childrens Day is more official with Children under 14 getting half a day off. It mostly sees the release of a few animated movies and this year should be no different with Doraemon releasing on the date alongside a local animation.
There will probably be atleast a few more movies scheduled for that weekend including potentialy Garfield.

2024.05.18 18:04 throwaway60827 Will a buyer's agent become my seller's agent if I don't have an agent?

We're selling our home (in Wisconsin). Our preference would be for a private sale, and we've been in touch with some folks who are interested and coming to see it next weekend. They have just expressed that they would like to bring a realtor. When we bought our first house a decade ago we went to see a house without having a realtor and then because the seller's agent showed it to us they automatically became our agent. Will this happen in reverse? If they bring their realtor to see our house next weekend, and we are not represented by our own, will that agent become our agent if we proceed with selling to them? If they are interested, we will involve a realtor we have used previously, but once we do that it eliminates the option for a future private sale if this party is not interested. Thanks for your help.

2024.05.18 18:02 Dirly 1 month into Early Access Postmortem solo dev.

Hey all, so I'm just gonna get this outa the way... my grammar is atrocious so please excuse any stuff.

About Me:

I've been doing prototypes and working with unity for the past 7 years(off and on), never released anything prior to this so before I turned 41 I wanted to get something out there. I spent 1.25 year (hobbyist approach) on this title. Got laid off in the last 5 months of development so was able to put a little bit more time to polish prior to release (but the honey due list really sidetracked what I thought I could allocate to it).

Numbers:

  • Out of pocket costs: $800
  • Units sold: ~4500
  • Reviews: 96% positive 117 user reviews (not counting keys)
  • Wishlists into EA: 4.5k
  • Wishlists Outstanding 1 month into EA release: 14k
  • Conversion 10.9%
  • Return rate: 7.9%

Development

I saw a trend in games which were taking retro mechanics and pairing them with modern roguelites, such as dome keeper (digdug and missle command), peglin, and of course the survivor likes. So I decided to mash up a Brickbreaker, Galaga, Roguelite, called Against Great Darkness.
I picked a minimalistic pixel art style to cater to rapid development, and avoid my weakness (shading). I also made strict art guidelines to follow a duotone color pallet so everything was much simpler to develop and looked consistent. The art was probably the most positive feedback I got, though the simplified pallet had caused a need for me to make accessibility changes once people started to play the demo.
Coding was pretty straightforward but I will admit I absolutely over engineered some systems that I shouldn't have. Granted its easier for me to make content now that its where it is... I really could have just banged it out much quicker. My original thought was this would only take me a handful of months and here we are 1.2 years later.
Sound was probably the hardest for me. I found out that duelysts went opensource and scraped through their SFX files. Majority of the audio within my game is modified from there. For the music I luckily stumbled upon a fantastic composer that really helped out. I offered minimal direction and some samples, and he just made something that fit it perfectly.

Marketing

Steam page was up pretty early, launched without a trailer which I think took a lot away from it. From the get go I was only gaining roughly 5 wishlists a day.
First break came from getting a demo up and running on itch.io. I was able to get to the front page of itch for a little bit, which helped get noticed by alpha beta gamer, who wrote a small article about the game. That gained a few hundred wishlists. Itch absolutely helped refine the game more as well.
I streamed development on twitch. This was a major dumb luck thing which helped. I only had a handful of people watching but one day Piratesoftware just showed up in my stream and kind of took me in under his wings. He would occasionally raid my channel, netting in a couple hundred wishlists each time. He also offered for me to bundle my game with his on Steam which has helped out tremendously. He also helped during launch by streaming the game, and getting AdmiralBahroo to stream it as well.
Twitter helped quite a bit as well not for large likes but I was able to gain interest in my title with content creators. So wanderbots picked up on it. He actually played the demo prior to nextfest and gave a pretty good vid on the game, which made me really fix up my accessibility. He also did a vid just prior to launch. Esty8nine also helped and saw the game through twitter he provided some valuable takeaways that helped me refine my game much more. ClemmyGames also picked it up and listed it in the top ten for shmup fest as well as during my launch week as the hidden indie gem of the week. I did pay for one promotional tweet @SteamGamesPC after the game launched I think it netted a few hundred in sales. Was very cheap only like $10 and a steam key.
Reddit... oh boy did a bunch of reddit posts here and there. probably in total netted 1k wishlists. I focused on indiegaming, webgames, pixelart, and the sunday post at games. None of them really took off to much was on gaming at the top for like 2 hours then got permabanned.
Festivals these were big. Nextfest I did in october and that gained me probably 1k wishlists. I somehow got featured in steams promo reel for that nextrfest but it didn't really help that much. It did cause a few gaming news outlets to list my game in the upcoming nextfest articles but all it was a link. It did get some of the more prominent indiedev content creators to take a look and promote my game however. Outside of Nextfest was Shmupfest which also gained some interest with content creators in that genre. Gaining about 800 wishlists. There were 2 other festivals but they didn't provide a lot of traction.
I sent out keys roughly 40, got a handful of videos made from them so seemed like a success. Retromantic was probably the biggest one.
Other things I tried:
  • Tried tiktok... game wasn't tiktokable.
  • imgur did a few posts dont think it netted me much.
  • Also made posts in forums which focused on SHMUPs, don't think that gained me much.
  • Did the usual discord its fairly small but has decent participation.
  • Prologue, the game was too short for this in hindsight.
Overall I think I could have done more.

Publishers

I was courted by a bunch of publishers roughly 9. I didn't actively seek them out, was just through emails and them joining my discord. Ultimately since I didn't need funding I decided against it. In hindsight I may have been better off with taking up one of them.

Conclusion

I think for a first time game a lot of things went my way that I don't feel most get. It did make me realize how hard it is to get stuff noticed on steam even with all the things going my way. But I feel like for an EA title it is doing pretty well. I sell roughly 20 to 30 units a day now, and gain roughly 100 wishlists per day after releasing into EA. I don't want to be in EA for a long time, I feel like a lot of those wishlists will be converted once I release into 1.0. So I feel like just adding content and getting it to a larger content pool for a roguelite is what I really need to focus on. The median play time isn't to fantastic and would like to fix that. As well as spend some of the earnings on localization. In the meantime though I do need to find an actual job as the pocket change it is making isn't enough for me and my family to justify it being a full time gig for myself. But I will continue the hustle on the side, as its always been my dream to make games.

'The Garfield Movie': Possible early signs of a hit

2024.05.18 12:24 starrtech2000 Smaller wheels/tires for garage clearance with teardrop ?

Hi, forgive my ignorance with this question… We’re looking at some slightly taller teardrop campers like the Bean Mean Bean and we only do minimal off-roading and nothing like what those things are designed to handle. Is there any reason we couldn’t use tires that are a few inches smaller to get the extra couple of inches we need for our rather low garage door height? Assuming the tires are rated for the weight of course. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
The Bean Trailers Mean Bean runs on large off-road tires and has a ton of ground clearance, neither of which are things we require. It’s not like a typical teardrop with small wheels and tires. (Side note, If there was another camper that had the build quality and interior height of the Mean Bean, we’d be looking at it but I can’t seem to find anything comparable. The Colorado Teardrops Mt. Massive would have been a good option but they are out of business)
The goal is to have a convenient way to store the trailer each week without having to change wheels or deflate and pump up the tires, which takes away from some of the quick convenience of a small trailer.

2024.05.18 05:30 adavis1999 Question about 2013 Ram 1500 4.7 L

Question about 2013 Ram 1500 4.7 L
I am looking to buy my first Ram and have heard a multitude of problems about Ram in general but mainly about the 4.7 motor and transmission. I found a 2013 Ram 1500 for sale for a decent price. It has the 4.7 motor, 6 speed transmission. I am wondering everyone's thoughts and opinions on this year of this truck and about the transmission and motor. I have owned Ford and GM in the past. However, I want to switch it up and I have always liked the Ram look and wanted to get one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions are appreciated as well.
I am looking to daily drive the truck, haul things from time to time. I do not need a ton of power or anything crazy towing wise. Decent gas mileage is always a plus but who buys a truck for it to be good on gas. I will only tow a small trailer sometimes but rarely. Will mainly use the bed for hunting supplies, furniture, dead deer, etc.
I have attached photos and information about this truck to get a better opinion and understanding to those who will respond to this posting.

2024.05.18 05:26 lombardoz Roof repair debate

Travel trailer gurus. We are in a tough spot with our trailer and looking for advice/suggestions. Currently have a 2016 coachmen clipper in what we thought was decent condition. Tried to keep the roof sealed but found two soft spots on the roof, one in the front and one in the back. Curtis trailers are telling me the roof needs to be fully replaced ($9k estimate which is more than the value of the trailer). The trailer is small for us now and we’ve been thinking of upsizing but don’t know what to do with the roof situation. I’m not excited about paying that much to repair a roof but don’t know what a trade in will get us knowing the roof has pretty significant damage now. Also, not sure about selling this privately.
So…what would you do? Replace the roof then sell privately and maybe get $10k if we are lucky? Junk it? Private sale for a few grand? Please share your wisdom!

2024.05.18 01:40 Leather_Focus_6535 The currently 105 inmates executed by Florida since the 1970s and their crimes (warning, graphic content, please read at your own risk) [part 1, cases 1 to 52]

Here is my list of Florida's post Furman execution roster that I wrote for my personal death penalty project. To be clear, the dates given here are a loose timeframe of an offender's first known criminal activities (including misdemeanors and delinquent activities) to their executions, and not at all their years on death row. In a large number of death penalty cases, the offenders were committing high level felonies, even other murders in extreme cases like Ted Bundy, well before the murders that condemned them. I wanted to encapsulate the earlier known or suspected offenses in order to express the scope and scale of their crimes.
As a warning, due how the death penalty is utilized in the United States, many of the surveyed crimes are extremely graphic by nature. Please read at your own risk. On a different note, Florida is the last currently completed list. I'm still working on Texas, and as of now finished 484 entries out of the state's 587 cases to date.
As with my lists for Missouri, Virginia, and Oklahoma, reddit's character limitations forced me to split Florida's roster into two parts. Here is the link to part 2.
The currently 105 executed offenders, cases 1 to 52:
1. John Spenkelink (~1972-1979, electric chair): While on the run after escaping from a Californian prison, Spenkelink picked up 45 year old Joseph Szymankiewicz while he was hitchhiking. Like Spenkelink, Szymankiewicz was a career criminal, and had a conviction for murdering a owner of a furniture store during a robbery. They went on a nationwide crime spree together, but Spenkelink shot Szymankiewicz and disemboweled him with a hatchet while he was asleep in a hotel room. He claimed that the killing was done to protect himself from a sexual assault and being forced to play Russian Roulette, but this was rejected by the courts. Spenkelink had several previous convictions of armed robberies, some of which he was serving when he escaped from California.
2. Robert Sullivan (1973-1983, electric chair): Sullivan and his accomplice abducted 38 year old Donald Schmidt from a Howard Johnson's he managed. They bound Schmidt's hands behind his back, and drove him to a remote swamp in the Everglades. He was beaten with a tire iron and shot four times in the head. The pair then took Schmdit's watch and his credit cards from his body.
3. Anthony Antone (~1970s-1984, electric chair): Antone, a high ranking mobster, was hired by a crime boss to arrange the murder of Richard Cloud, a 33 year old private detective. He arranged for two of his associates to gun down Cloud on his own front porch. Although he wasn't directly present at the crime itself, Antone bore the harshest penalties due to his employer and one of his triggermen committing suicide in custody and the surviving triggerman agreeing to testify against him.
4. Arthur Goode III (~1960s-1984, electric chair): Goode lured 9 year old Jason VerDow into a forest, and raped and strangled him to death. The next day, he abducted Billy Arthe, a 10 year old Guatemalan immigrant, and took him on a journey to Washington D.C. On their way through Virginia, Goode kidnapped 11 year old Kenny Dawson. Both boys were sexually abused, and he strangled Dawson to death with a belt in front of Arthe. Arthe was rescued when a passing woman recognized him from the news coverages. Good was notorious for being a shameless pedophile who openly flaunted and defended his predations of young boys to any listening ears. When he acted as his own attorney during the proceedings for VerDow's murder, Goode's defense entirely hinged on pedophila apologetics and advocacy. He started victimizing younger boys in his early teens, and dealt with several accusations of sexual assault throughout high school. His execution was somewhat controversial, as Goode was cognitively disabled and had the mentality of a young child.
5. James Adams (~1962-1984, electric chair): During a burglary of a ranch, Adams beat the owner, 61 year old Edgar Brown, to death with a firepoker stick. Several of the undisclosed items Adams stole in the robbery were discovered in his wife's car. Prior to the murder, Adams had a rape conviction that gave him a 99 year sentence, but he managed to escape from prison.
6. Carl Shriner (~1962-1984, electric chair): Shriner shot and killed Judith Carter, a 32 year old clerk, while robbing a convenience store. He was involved with petty crimes since he was 8 years old, and Shriner was on parole for armed robbery at the time of the murder.
7. David Washington (1976-1984, electric chair): Washington started his crime spree by fatally stabbing a minister, 69 year old Daniel Pridgen, during a robbery of his home. A few days later, he broke into a home that had 64 year old Katrina Birk and her 3 sister in laws inside. He tied up all four women, and stabbed and shot them. Birk was killed, but her sister in laws survived with crippling injuries. The day after Birk's murder, Washington and his accomplices kidnapped 20 year old Frank Meli from a university, tied him to a bed, and tried extorting a ransom from his family. When that failed, he stabbed his captive to death. In his 10 day long murder and robbery spree, Washington stole jewelry, a car, an undisclosed amount of some money from Pridgen, and $8 from Birk and her sister in laws.
8. Ernest Dobbert Jr. (1972-1984, electric chair): Dobbert routinely tortured his children with beatings, poking their eyes with his fingers, dunking their heads in bathtubs, and burnings with cigarette lighters. Two of them, 9 year old Kelly and 7 year old Ryder, were strangled to death during one of his daily beatings and torture sessions.
9. James Henry (~1965-1984, electric chair): Henry invaded the home of Zellie Riley, a 81 year old Civil Rights activist. He tied up and gagged Riley, slit his throat with a razor blade, and stole $64. A few days later, Henry shot and wounded detective Ronald Ferguson in a confrontation. He previously shot and injured a man in one incident and non fatally stabbed a man in another, and alleged in both cases that the circumstances were self defense. However, the apparent victims made identical claims that Henry was trying to rob them.
10. Timothy Palmes (1976-1984, electric chair): Palmes used his girlfriend to lure her employer, a 41 year old furniture store owner named James Stone, to her apartment and knocked him unconscious with a hammer. Palmes and his other accomplice, Ronald Straight, bound him with wire and locked Stone in a wooden box they specifically made for him. They tortured their captive by slowly cutting his fingers off, and stabbed him 18 times with a machete and knife. The trio dumped Stone's body (which was still trapped in the box) into a river and stole his watch, car, and $2,800 from his store. Palmes tried to blame the killing entirely on his girlfriend, but she was granted immunity in exchange for testifying against him and Straight.
11. James Raulerson (1975-1985, electric chair): Raulerson and his accomplice robbed a restaurant at gunpoint, and raped one of the female employees. When the responding officers arrived at the scene, the pair engaged in a shootout with them. Both Raulerson's accomplice and a policeman, 23 year old Michael Stewart, were killed in the skirmish.
12. Johnny Witt (1973-1985, electric chair): Witt and his accomplice frequently stalked random people they could in the woods, as they were thrilled by the prospect of hunting other human beings. On a whim, the pair ambushed 11 year old Jonathan Kushner while he was riding his bike. They incapacitated Kushner by hitting him in the head with a drill star bit and gagged him. After they tossed him in the back of their truck, Kushner suffocated on the gag. Witt and his accomplice then cut the boy's stomach open to prevent bloating, engaged in intercourse with his body, and buried Kushner in a shallow grave.
13. Marvin Francois (1977-1985, electric chair): During what is now called the "Carol City massacre", Francois and two other men, Beauford White and John Ferguson, forced their way into a drug house. They tied up the 8 men and women inside (who were all between 24-45 years old), and shot them all in the head. Only two of the victims, 45 year old Johnnie Hall and 24 year old Margaret Wooden, survived. A total of $800 was stolen in the attack. Accomplice Ferguson (who was executed in 2013) also committed a series of unrelated murders that Francois wasn't involved with. These crimes are discussed in depth under Ferguson’s section (case 78) in Part 2 of this list.
14. Daniel Thomas (1976-1986, electric chair): Thomas and his accomplices, dubbed the "Ski Mask Gang" by the media, went on a rampage that involved the burglaries of 16 homes and the rapes of 5 women. The husband of one of those women, 49 year old Charles Anderson, was shot dead in an attempt to protect her. Other murders attributed to the Gas Mask Gang include 20 year old Henry Kersey (shot to death while trying to defend his wife, who was then tossed off a bridge) and 70 year old Tessie Henderson (succumbed to injuries received in a beating). Another woman was blinded after members of the Ski Mask Gang poured liquid plumber into her eyes.
15. David Funchess (1973-1986, electric chair): Fuchess was fired from a liquor store due to the owners suspecting him of stealing money. A year later, he assaulted his former workplace with a knife. He stabbed two employees, 62 year old Bertha McLeod and 52 year old Anna Waldrop, and a customer, 56 year old Clayton Ragan. Waldrop and Ragan were killed at the scene, while McLeod died from complications relating to her injuries two years after the attack. Fuchess left the store with several canceled checks that total around $6,000. He had several misdemeanors and minor felonies on his previous record that included theft, loitering, obstructing traffic, public intoxication, and disturbing the peace. Fuchess also attracted some public sympathy due to him being a Vietnam combat veteran that was diagnosed with PTSD.
16. John Straight (1976-1986, electric chair): As mentioned in Timothy Palmes' section, Straight took part in the torture murder of David Stone, and the robbery of his furniture store.
17. Beauford White (~1963-1987, electric chair): White was another participant in the "Carol City massacre" that the previously mentioned Marvin Francois was involved in. He had a lengthy criminal history dating back to the 1960s, and one of his past convictions was related to an attempted rape.
18. Willie Darden (~1970s-1988, electric chair): Darden was convicted of the shooting death of 54 year old James Turman and the non fatal shooting of a 16 year old neighbor while robbing Turman's Furniture Store. Turman's wife was also raped in the robbery. Some supporters had citied that he was tried by an all white jury, and used it to push a narrative that Darden, a black man, was condemned out of racism. He had several previous convictions, which included assault, forgery, theft, and the attempted rape of a 70 year old woman. Darden was on furlough for the latter conviction during the time of Turman's murder.
19. Jeffrey Daugherty (1976-1988, electric chair): While on a road trip with his uncle and girlfriend, Daugherty murdered at least 4 women and one man, 68 year old Carmen Abrams, 50 year old Betty Campbell, 49 year old Lavonne Sailer, 28 year old Elizabeth Shank, and 18 year old George Karns. The victims were slain through either shootings or stabbings at grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants they worked at, but Sailer was attacked while hitchhiking. Daugherty mostly murdered for personal enjoyment, but he often stole coins, clothes, and watches from the victims.
20. Theodore Bundy (~1970s(?)-1989, electric chair): Across multiple states, Bundy kidnapped, raped, and murdered a bare minimum of ~20-36 females between the ages of 12-26. Although his true body count is uncertain and heavily disputed, most experts agree that it well exceeds official estimates. Bundy's abduction tactics were diverse, and ranged from grabbing targets by force, pretending to be a cripple in need of help, posing as emergency workers, seduction, and luring them in through hitchhiking. On some occasions, Bundy broke into the residences of victims, and assaulted them in their bedrooms. After an abduction, the victims were bound with handcuffs, raped while they were alive, and he engaged in acts of necrophila with their bodies. Most of his killing methods were strangulations with cords or beatings with tire irons and other blunt instruments. Several victims were also decapitated, and he kept their heads as trophies. Bundy disposed of corpses by dumping them in deserts, mountains, swamps, and other remote wilderness environments accessible to him.
21. Aubrey Adams Jr. (1978-1989, electric chair): Adams lured 8 year old Trisa Thomley into his car by offering her a ride home from school. He tied the girl up and dragged her to a remote forest. She was then raped and suffocated with a plastic bag.
22. Jesse Tafero (~1960s-1990, electric chair): A pair of patrolmen, 39 year old Phillip Black and 39 year old Donald Irwin (who was also a Canadian constable), found Tafero sleeping in his car with his wife, their children (which consisted of a 9 year old son and a 10 month old daughter), and a friend. What exactly occurred next is heavily disputed, but Tafero or his friend shot both officers dead, after they noticed a gun on the dashboard and asked the group to climb out. The group then fled in a police car, disposed of it, and kidnapped a man to carjack him. Tafero's execution was controversial, as his head caught on fire during the electrocution, and his supporters cited evidence of his friend (who was sentenced to life, but was released in 1994 on good behavior) being the triggerman in the shootings. He also had a long history of armed robbery, rape, and sodomy. Tafero's wife was initially condemned for the murder, but her sentence was reduced to 25 years to life on appeal in 1981, and was released with an Alford Plea in 1992.
23. Anthony Bertolotti (1983-1990, electric chair): Bertolotti enticed 46 year old Carol Ward into his home with the promise of helping her make a phone call. He held Ward at knife point, demanded money, and raped her. She was stabbed to death during the assault, and Bertolotti drove away with her car. In the trial, Bertolotti alleged that Ward offered him sex in exchange for stopping the robbery, and used it to claim that his angry girlfriend made him kill her for it.
24. James Hamblen (1984-1990, electric chair): Hamblen shot and killed 34 year old Laureen Edwards during a robbery of her store. Despite forcing Edwards to disrobe, Hamblen left he unmolested. He then fled to Texas and quickly started a relationship with 20 year old Debbie Abbott. A month later, Hamblen shot Abbott dead during a heated argument.
25. Raymond Clark (~1964-1990, electric chair): In 1964, Clark beat Marshell Taylor, his landlord's 14 year old son that he groomed and abused, to death with a pipe. After his parole at an undisclosed date in the 70s, Clark groomed another 14 year old boy into an illicit relationship. He recruited him in the abduction of David Drake, a 49 year scrap dealer. With the boy's help, he kidnapped their victim at gunpoint with the intentions of ransoming him back to his family. The pair forced Drake to write them a $5,000 check, and shot him in the head. When he wasn't able to cash in the check, Clark dropped his accomplice off at his home to avoid being charged with the boy's kidnapping, fled to California, and tried to trick Drake's family into paying his ransom. However, a series of calls was traced to his accomplice, and he implicated Clark to the police.
26. Roy Harich (1981-1991, electric chair): Harich kidnapped two teenage girls, 18 year old Carlene Kelly and 17 year old Deborah Miller, after luring them into his van from a beach. The pair were then both sexually assaulted. He shot Kelly dead, slit Miller's throat, and dumped them on a highway. Miller survived the attack and dragged herself to safety.
27. Bobby Francis (~1970s-1991, electric chair): Suspecting him of being a police informant against his drug trafficking enterprise, Francis abducted 35 year old Titus Walters. He tied him up and forcibly injected drano and battery acid into his body for a span of two hours. Despite Walters' pleas for his life, Francis shot him in the head and heart.
28. Nollie Martin (1977-1992, electric chair): Martin and his accomplice robbed a convenience store at knifepoint, stole $90, and kidnapped the clerk, 19 year old Patricia Greenfield. She was then raped and stabbed to death by her captors.
29. Edward Kennedy (~1977-1992, electric chair): In 1977, Kennedy and some partners shot and killed 33 year old Robert Brown, during a robbery of a motel. He was given a life sentence for the murder. Four years later, Kennedy escaped from prison. While on the run, he broke into a house in hopes of stealing money and guns. The homeowner, 32 year old Floyd Cone Jr. returned home with his cousin, 35 year old Robert McDermon (who worked as a state trooper), and unwittingly intercepted Kennedy. He shot them both dead, fled to a neighboring home, and took a 21 year old woman and her 4 month old son hostage. After a hour long standoff, Kennedy released his captives and surrendered himself to the police.
30. Robert Henderson (~1964-1998, electric chair): In December of 1982, Henderson went on a month long rampage across 6 states. He raped, robbed, and murdered a total of 12 people between the ages of 11-79 through shootings. Three of the victims where his wife's parents, 61 year old Ivan and 57 year old Marie Barnett, and her 11 year old brother Clifford. A few other victims were women, like 50 year old Dorothy Wilkinson, 37 year old Cheryl McDonald, 30 year old Jerilyn Stanfield, and 21 year old Lucinda Russell, that were kidnapped from their workplaces and homes and raped. A couple more were men, such as 79 year old Murray Ferderbe and 61 year old Sam Corrent, that he killed while robbing their homes and businesses. Henderson's last remaining murders were a trio of hitchhikers, 27 year old Vernon Odom, 23 year old Frances Dickey, and 18 year old Robert Dawson, that he killed together. Last but not least, Henderson bound an unidentified woman and her 12 year old daughter at gunpoint during a break in of their home. After Henderson raped the mother, he tried to do the same to her daughter. The mother then broke free from her restraints, and chased him away from her home. Contemporary media reports noted that the mother "fought harder for her daughter then she did for herself." Henderson had prior convictions of growing marijuana, assaulting officers, and stealing license plates.
31. Larry Johnson (1979-1993, electric chair): During the robbery of a gas station, Johnson shot and killed the clerk, 67 year old James Hadden. Like David Funchess, Johnson enjoyed a considerable amount of public sympathy due to him being a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
32. Michael Durocher (1983-1993, electric chair): In 1983, Durocher made an agreement with his girlfriend, 31 year old Grace Reed, to conduct a murder-suicide pact involving her 5 year old daughter Candace and their 6 month old son Joshua. Although he shot and stabbed them all to death, Durocher backed out of his end of the pact. He later shot dead 27 year old Thomas Underwood while robbing a decorating story in 1986, and beat his roommate, 38 year old Edward Childers, to death during an argument in 1988.
33. Roy Stewart (1978-1994, electric chair): 77 year old Margaret Haizlip invited Stewart into her home. When she caught Stewart stealing a gold watch from her medicine drawer, Haizlip tried to evict him. In the confrontation, Stewart raped and strangled her to death with an electrical cord. Her body was found with 8 broken ribs, a fractured larynx, bite marks on her thighs and breasts, several contusions, and a torn vagina.
34. Bernard Bolender (~1970s-1995, electric chair): In a drug deal gone wrong, Bolender and two accomplices abducted their dealers, 39 year old John Merino, 38 year old Rudy Ayan, 33 year old Nicomedes Hernandez, and 25 year old Scott Bennett, at gunpoint, and robbed them of their jewelry. All four men were beaten with baseball bats, stabbed, and burned with heated knifes to extort an additional source of cocaine from them. Most of the hostages died in the 2 hour long torture session, but Merino was still alive when Bolender burned him and the other hostages' bodies in a car. Although most of his criminal history is murky, Bolender was heavily involved in the drug trade during the 1970s at the bare minimum.
35. Jerry White (~1962-1995, electric chair): White robbed a grocery store, and held the owner, 53 year old Alex Alexander, and a trio of customers (which consisted of 34 year old James Melson, an unidentified man, and the man's 12 year old daughter) at gunpoint. He shot and killed Melson, wounded Alexander, and tried forcing the father and daughter into a freezer. When the pair refused, White tried to shot them, but his gun misfired. The man and his daughter were able to flee with their lives and called the police, while White ran off with $338. White had 9 previous convictions, which included attempted murder, armed robbery, theft, and burglary, and was first arrested at the age of 14.
36. Phillip Atkins (1981-1995, electric chair): Atkins kidnapped 6 year old Antonio Castillo and molested him in a forest. When Castillo threatened to tell his parents about the abuse, Atkins bludgeoned him to death with a pipe.
37. John Bush (~1970s-1996, electric chair): Bush and three other men kidnapped 18 year old Frances Slater from a gas station she worked as a clerk at. They stabbed her to death and stole $100 from the register. Slater's murder attracted national attention due to her being the granddaughter and heiress of renowned singer Frances Langford and the outboard motor mongrel Ralph Evinrude. Bush's previous convictions include rape and robbery.
38. John Mills Jr. (1982-1996, electric chair): Mills and his accomplice tied up and abducted 30 year old Les Lawhon after ransacking his trailer for any valuables. They took him to a nearby abandoned airport to hideout. Lawhon then was beaten with a tire iron and shot in the head execution style.
39. Pedro Medina (1982-1997, electric chair): Medina tied up and gagged 52 year old Dorothy James in her home. He stabbed her to death and stole her car, which he was captured sleeping in by investigating police officers. His execution was a source of controversy, as Medina's head burst into flames as he was electrocuted on the chair. Medina's case and similar incidents led to Florida gradually phasing out of the electric chair in favor of lethal injection.
40. Gerald Stano (~1960s-1998, electric chair): Stano was convicted of murdering 22 women and girls between the ages of 12-35, though he admitted to 41, and is suspected of a total of 88 killings. His victims were all lured with promises of rides, payment for sexual favors, or abducted through force. The methods he used were diverse, and included drownings, shootings, stabbings, and strangulations. Most of the sources noted that none of his victims were raped, and that Stano seemed to have murdered out of an enjoyment for killing. As a child, Stano was charged with fasley pulling fire alarms at school and throwing rocks at cars. He was also fired for stealing from coworkers in one of his jobs.
41. Leo Jones (1981-1998, electric chair): Supposedly out of revenge for being brutalized by policemen, Jones was convicted of killing Thomas Szafranski, a 28 year old officer, in a sniper attack. Szafranski was driving his patrol car when he was ambushed and murdered. His execution was contested, as Jones claimed that he was coerced into confessing by investigators through beatings, and one of the apparent witnesses allegedly recounted his testimony.
42. Judy Buenoano (~1957-1998, electric chair): Over the course of 11 years, Buenoano poisoned her husband, 32 year old James Goodyear, her son, 19 year old Michael, and her boyfriend, 39 year old Bobby Morris with arsenic to collect their life insurance policies. She also made an attempt to poison another boyfriend after he was injured in a suspicious explosion, but was foiled by a police investigation. As a young girl, Buenoano assaulted her father, stepmother, and stepbrothers, and served a two month sentence for it.
43. Daniel Remeta (1985-1998, electric chair): Remeta and his accomplices shot and killed 5 people, 60 year old Mehrle Reeder, 55 year old Glenn Moore, 42 year old Linda Marvin, 29 year old John Schroeder, and 27 year old Larry McFarland, across Kansas, Arkansas, and Florida. The victims were all murdered in convenience store, restaurant, and gas station robberies.
44. Allen Davis (~1970s-1999, electric chair): Davis broke into a home with the intentions of raping 9 year old Kristina Weiler. Although no sexual assault occurred, Davis tied Kristina up and shot her in the head. He also struck her pregnant mother, 37 year old Nancy, 25 times on her head and face with his pistol, and left the body "bruised beyond recognition." When Kristina's sister, 5 year old Katherine, tried to escape, Davis shot and bludgeoned her to death. He then sacked the home for any belongings. Davis was a long time felon, and had several previous convictions of burglary, child molestation, and involuntary manslaughter. His execution caused significant controversy, as his nose bled all over his body during the fatal shocks, and he suffered burns to his legs, head, and groin. The backlash, combined with other botched incidents like Pedroa Medina and Jesse Tafero, resulted in Florida replacing the electric chair with lethal injection.
45. Terry Sims (1977-2000, lethal injection): George Pfeil, a 57 year old deputy and WW2 veteran, walked into a pharmacy that Sims and his 3 accomplices were robbing, to pick up a prescription. Upon seeing what was happening, Pfeil pulled out his gun and engaged the robbers, but was killed by them in the shootout. Although Sims was injured, he managed to escape the scene, and was captured a month later while trying to carry out another robbery in California.
46. Anthony Bryan (1983-2000, lethal injection): Bryan and his accomplice kidnapped a night watchman, 60 year old George Wilson, and used his keys to rob a bank he guarded. They drove Wilson to a remote forest and shot him in the head. The pair dumped his body in a creek and drove their car into a lake to destroy any evidence.
47. Bennie Demps (~1971-2000, lethal injection): Demps received his first death sentence in 1971 when he shot and killed a real estate agent, 54 year old Robert Brinkworth, and his client, 64 year old Celia Puhlick, while the victims were trying to engage in a house sale. He also wounded Celia's husband, 62 year old Nicholas, and stole a safe from the house. However, his first death sentence was lifted from the brief nationwide capital punishment ban from the Furman decision. Two years after his first death sentence was commuted, Demps was given a second death sentence when he fatally stabbed another inmate, 23 year old Alfred Sturgis, on the behalf of the Perjury Incorporated prison gang. Sturgis was in prison for murder, and he was targeted due to Perjury Incorporated's suspicions of him of being an informant.
48. Thomas Provenzano (1984-2000, lethal injection): In retaliation for being charged for disorderly conduct months earlier, Provenzano stormed a courthouse, and shot and killed Arnold Wilkerson, a 60 year old deputy that was a veteran of WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, on the scene. Two more policemen, 53 year old Harry Dalton Jr. and 19 year old Mark Parker, were also hit by gunfire, and they both died from complications relating to their injuries years after the attack.
49. Dan Hauser (1995-2000, lethal injection): Out of a desire to kill somebody, Huser enticed a stripper, 21 year old Melanie Rodrigues, into a motel room with the promise of payment for sexual services. After they had intercourse, he strangled her to death. Hauser was also caught stealing a truck months before the murder.
50. Edward Castro (1986-2000, lethal injection): Castro lured three homosexual men, 57 year old Austin Scott, 50 year old George Hill, and 46 year old Claude Henderson, from gay bars. The victims were all tied up and stabbed to death in their homes. After each killing, Castro left with valuables such as cars, watches, rings, money, and wallets.
51. Robert Glock II (1983-2001, lethal injection): Glock kidnapped 34 year old Sharilyn Ritchie from a mall parking lot and forced her to withdraw $100 from an ATM. He then drove Ritchie to a forest 60 miles away and shot her in the head. Ritchie's wedding ring and purse was also stolen in the attack.
52. Rigoberto Sanchez-Velasco (1986-2002, lethal injection): Sanchez-Velasco raped and fatally strangled Katixa Ecenarro, his girlfriend's 11 year old daughter. While awaiting execution for Ecenarro's murder, Sanchez-Velasco got into a fight with fellow condemned inmates, 41 year old Charles Street and 30 year old Edwin Kaprat, and stabbed them both to death. Kaprat received a death sentence for the sexual abuse and torture-killings of 4 elderly women, while Street was sentenced to death for the shooting murders of two police officers.

2024.05.18 01:23 christophe-caron Laser trailer

I have found a laser for sale at a great price looks all good and in a good state, I want to buy it and it would be my first time I buy one myself. I have sailed lasers but never owned one. Anyways, I want to buy it but I lack the trailer, I tried looking for second-hand or any-hand laser trailers and haven’t found any. I will probably buy a new one. Do you guys know which trailer would have the best price/quality ratio while still staying as low as possible as I’m still a student. And if by magic another trailer made for another boat that would be less expensive also works with the lasers, please tell me as I have looked a lot and found nothing. Thank you very much for your help.

I finally got paid this month and now trying to buy a piece of land to park my camp trailer on and get a tiny house built good plan. So I contact Zillow.com about 5 acres for $25k and I want to pay cash. Their agent replied happy to help i tell her my plans and Instead of sending me the info on the lot she sent me and listing for exactly what I am planning already done but $189k I got the down and my credit is still good so I applied for a mortgage on the place and get approved for $150k on my income and I say buy it. Sorry sir but it seems that property is not available so here's a couple of houses for sale. I don't want a house I want land. I don't want a mortgage and be buried in debt barely able to get by. No sir you need to be buried in debt and if you don't buy what I am offering to sell then go look somewhere else. Still homeless parked on the side of the street and suffering from oppressive corporations trying to take advantage of the desperate homeless population.
