2024.05.17 10:30 adulting4kids Figures of Speech AI Response

For the sheer fun of it, I went to Chat GPT with a creative writing assignment. For Figures of Speech prompts, I gave a free parameters, including the word length of 500-1000 words and the prompts for a few of the Fifty mentioned in the series.
I gave the AI creative license and let's just say, they're a long way off from replacing the better writers and I think it just makes it easier to do those lower level tasks and let's leave the creators a slightly higher level of skill to create actual tangible and engaging writing.
But here you go... hilarious how stuck it gets on certain terms and definitions.
These are in no particular order... separated by emojis that are totally unrelated to the storyline.
🫱🫱🫱🫱🫱🫱🫱🫱🫲🫲🫲🫲🫲🫲🫲🫲 Response to Prompt 4: Understatement
In the quaint town of Brooksville, where the extraordinary was often met with an indifferent shrug, something truly remarkable occurred. The residents, sipping coffee at the local diner or strolling along the cobblestone streets, would describe it as just another peculiar day. Little did they know that beneath the surface of their nonchalant existence, a cosmic event unfolded.
The morning sun cast its usual warm glow on Brooksville, with birds chirping in the background, creating an illusion of normalcy. However, the anomaly had already begun. Mrs. Higgins, the elderly librarian, dismissed it as a minor inconvenience, merely a glitch in the library's ancient computer system. Yet, every book cataloged within those ancient shelves had transformed into a portal, connecting readers to parallel universes with every turn of a page.
As I, a humble journalist for the local paper, stumbled upon this revelation, I couldn't help but marvel at the town's response—or lack thereof. "The library's having a bit of a moment," was the most anyone would acknowledge. It seemed the whole town collectively decided that this was, at most, a quirky hiccup.
For a thousand words, I delved into the understated reactions of the townsfolk, each encounter with a parallel universe bringing its own blend of confusion and nonchalance. As the portals expanded, revealing fantastical landscapes and alternate versions of Brooksville, the citizens maintained an impressive level of calm, as if interdimensional travel was a routine part of their daily lives.
The plot thickened when I discovered that the portals were a result of a mysterious artifact hidden within the library's archives. The mayor, sipping his coffee, remarked, "Well, that explains the strange noises in the basement." It became evident that the understatement of the situation was a defense mechanism, shielding the town from the cosmic chaos unfolding. 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁 Response to Prompt 12: Juxtaposition
In the bustling metropolis of Neon City, skyscrapers touched the heavens, their dazzling lights reflecting off the sleek surfaces of futuristic cars. Yet, nestled within this urban jungle, an ancient relic stood defiantly—the Old Grove Park.
As I strolled through the city's concrete arteries, the juxtaposition between the modernity of Neon City and the timeless serenity of the park became increasingly apparent. The cacophony of traffic was replaced by the rustling of leaves and the distant laughter of children playing.
The central conflict emerged when the city council, embodying the epitome of order, proposed transforming the park into a technologically advanced hub. The juxtaposition intensified as architects discussed plans for holographic playgrounds and virtual reality gardens within the confines of the Old Grove Park.
Through a thousand words, I explored the clash of ideals, the struggle between progress and preservation. The ancient trees became silent witnesses to heated debates at town hall meetings, where environmentalists and tech enthusiasts engaged in a battle of words. The juxtaposition of the towering skyscrapers against the gnarled branches of the park's oldest tree mirrored the tension in Neon City's collective conscience. 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 Response to Prompt 31: Epanalepsis
"What is the meaning of life?" The question echoed in my mind, a relentless epanalepsis that demanded exploration. As I embarked on this freewriting journey, the repetition of the existential inquiry became the rhythm of my introspection.
For a thousand words, I delved into the varied perspectives of individuals wrestling with the ultimate question. From philosophers contemplating the intricacies of existence to everyday people seeking purpose in mundane routines, the epanalepsis served as a constant reminder of the universal quest for meaning.
The narrative weaved through different characters and their unique experiences, creating a tapestry of reflections that echoed the complexities of human existence. The repetitive structure became a literary heartbeat, pulsating with the shared yearning for understanding amid the chaotic symphony of life. 🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔 Response to Prompt 27: Symbolism
In the quaint town of Willowbrook, the arrival of a single dove carried profound significance. Its graceful descent into the town square was a symbol, an omen that whispered of impending change. As a budding novelist with a penchant for symbolism, I couldn't resist exploring the layers of meaning embedded in this seemingly mundane event.
For a thousand words, I dissected the impact of the dove on the lives of Willowbrook's residents. The mayor saw it as a sign of prosperity, the local florist interpreted it as a call for unity, and the elderly storyteller regarded it as a harbinger of forgotten tales. The dove's symbolism rippled through the town, influencing decisions and shaping destinies.
As the story unfolded, I traced the journey of the dove's symbolism, following its subtle influence on characters and events. The once quaint town underwent a transformative metamorphosis, and the symbolism of the dove became a thread that wove through the narrative, connecting disparate lives in unexpected ways. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Response to Prompt 33: Catachresis
In the dimly lit alleyways of Serpent's Hollow, darkness wrapped its cold arms around me—an eerie catachresis that mirrored the ominous atmosphere. The assignment was to explore the underbelly of the city, and as a novice reporter, I found myself navigating the labyrinth of deceit and shadows.
For a thousand words, I delved into the catachresis-infused descriptions of the characters populating Serpent's Hollow. The crime lord, known as the Velvet Serpent, ruled the district with a velvet-gloved fist. His lair, a dilapidated mansion, exuded an air of faded grandeur that served as a catachresis for the empire he once commanded.
As I chronicled the criminal underworld, the catachresis became a literary tool to convey the complexity and decay inherent in Serpent's Hollow. The labyrinthine plots, the twisted allegiances, and the morally ambiguous characters all found expression through catachresis, painting a vivid picture of a city where metaphor and reality intertwined. 🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧🧑‍🔧 Response to Prompt 43: Epizeuxis
"Never, never, never give up." The words echoed in my mind, a relentless epizeuxis that fueled the protagonist's journey against insurmountable odds. In the dystopian world I crafted, where hope was a rare commodity, the power of repetition became a beacon of resilience.
For a thousand words, I immersed myself in the protagonist's struggle, exploring the emotional depth of the epizeuxis as a mantra against despair. Each iteration of the phrase became a battle cry, a whispered promise that carried the weight of a shattered world on its shoulders.
As the narrative unfolded, the epizeuxis became a driving force, propelling the protagonist through a landscape of desolation and uncertainty. The repetition served as a reminder that, in the face of adversity, the strength to persist often lies in the relentless echo of one's own determination.
Response to Prompt 50: Acrostic
As the final rays of the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, I found myself at the edge of the cliff overlooking the vast expanse of the ocean. The salty breeze carried whispers of a story, and with every breath, I embraced the challenge of crafting an acrostic that encapsulated the essence of my journey.
For a thousand words, I embarked on a reflective exploration, utilizing the initial letters of key words to weave a tapestry of emotions, experiences, and revelations. Each line unfolded with intention, revealing a hidden 👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾👾 Response to Prompt 3: Hyperbole
In the quaint village of Mistwood, where routines unfolded with the predictability of the sunrise, the arrival of a peculiar fortune teller sparked exaggerated whispers. "This is it, the end of our mundane lives!" proclaimed Mrs. Thompson, the town's eternal pessimist, as she clutched her cat, Captain Whiskers, with an air of impending catastrophe.
The hyperbole hung in the air, a thick fog of anticipation enveloping the village. As I delved into the story, the hyperbolic reactions of Mistwood's residents heightened the absurdity of the situation. What began as a mere visit from a mystical figure transformed into a fantastical escapade, with the fortune teller's prophecies shaping the destiny of the villagers in ludicrous ways.
Through the hyperbolic lens, I explored the comedic consequences of taking ordinary events to extraordinary extremes. The once mundane village square became a stage for outlandish dramas, with exaggerated gasps and dramatic swoons punctuating every revelation. In this hyperbolic haven, Mistwood's residents discovered the joy in embracing the absurdity of life. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Response to Prompt 6: Assonance
Amidst the rolling hills of Harmony Valley, where the soft hum of nature's symphony echoed through the meadows, a mysterious traveler arrived, bringing with them a melody that resonated with the delicate assonance of a forgotten tune. The townsfolk, captivated by the harmonious vibrations, felt an inexplicable connection to the stranger.
As I explored the narrative, the assonance became a musical thread weaving through the story, emphasizing the emotional cadence of the characters' experiences. The traveler's words, laced with vowel-rich verses, carried the echoes of a distant melody, leaving an indelible impression on the hearts of those who listened.
Through the lens of assonance, I delved into the subtle interplay of sounds that defined the atmosphere of Harmony Valley. The lyrical quality of the narrative mirrored the town's collective journey, where the resonance of shared moments and emotions harmonized with the traveler's enigmatic presence.
Response to Prompt 7: Onomatopoeia
In the bustling city of Metropolis, where the rhythm of urban life played out in a cacophony of sounds, a peculiar street performer emerged. Armed with an array of unconventional instruments, he orchestrated a symphony of onomatopoeic brilliance that echoed through the crowded streets.
The narrative unfolded with the vibrant expressions of onomatopoeia, capturing the essence of the city's sonic landscape. The performer's drumming evoked the rhythmic tap-tap of raindrops, while his wind instruments mimicked the whoosh of passing cars. The city, typically drowned in noise, became a canvas for this auditory artist.
As I delved into the story, the onomatopoeic symphony became a language of its own. The characters communicated through the vibrant echoes of everyday sounds, fostering a unique connection between the performer and the people of Metropolis. The narrative danced to the beat of onomatopoeic creativity, transforming the mundane into a dynamic celebration of city life. 🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻🦻 Response to Prompt 12: Juxtaposition
In the technologically advanced city of Silicon Haven, where sleek skyscrapers touched the sky and holographic billboards painted the air with luminescent advertisements, a hidden oasis existed—a pocket of nature known as the Zen Garden. The juxtaposition of these contrasting elements created a visual paradox that fascinated both residents and visitors alike.
As the narrative unfolded, the stark contrast between the city's cutting-edge architecture and the serene beauty of the Zen Garden became a metaphor for the characters' internal conflicts. The bustling metropolis symbolized progress and innovation, while the tranquil garden embodied the need for balance and introspection.
Through the lens of juxtaposition, I explored the dichotomy within the characters as they navigated the relentless pace of Silicon Haven. The Zen Garden became a refuge, a place where the cacophony of technology met the soothing whispers of nature. The juxtaposition served as a visual metaphor for the characters' quest to find equilibrium in a world defined by extremes. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Response to Prompt 22: Metonymy
In the political arena of Capital City, where decisions echoed through the corridors of power, a single phrase dominated conversations—the "Iron Throne Statement." This metonymic expression encapsulated not just a policy decision but the entire narrative of political maneuvering that unfolded within the city's hallowed halls.
The story unfolded with the metonymy acting as a symbolic gateway into the complexities of governance. The Iron Throne Statement, while seemingly straightforward, carried the weight of a thousand debates, negotiations, and betrayals. Its impact rippled through the lives of citizens, shaping their destinies in ways they could scarcely fathom.
Through the lens of metonymy, I delved into the layers of meaning hidden within this political shorthand. The characters grappled not only with the literal implications of the Iron Throne Statement but also with the overarching themes of power, ambition, and the sacrifices demanded by political gamesmanship. 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈 Response to Prompt 24: Understatement
In the picturesque town of Serenity Springs, where the days flowed like a lazy river and the nights were adorned with a blanket of stars, an unexpected event transpired—a subtle disruption that the locals described as "just a minor hiccup." Little did they know that this understatement concealed the unraveling of a cosmic anomaly.
The narrative unfolded with the charm of understatement, as the townsfolk continued their routines, blissfully unaware of the cosmic storm brewing beneath the surface. The serene descriptions of everyday life served as a stark contrast to the impending upheaval that threatened to reshape the very fabric of Serenity Springs.
Through the lens of understatement, I explored the characters' nonchalant reactions to the unfolding events. The once quiet river became a conduit for interdimensional travel, and the night sky, adorned with stars, transformed into a celestial canvas of possibilities. The charm of Serenity Springs became a poignant backdrop to the understated drama that unfolded, emphasizing the profound impact hidden within the simplicity of daily life. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴 Response to Prompt 25: Cliché
In the small town of Nostalgia Haven, where memories lingered like whispers in the wind, a peculiar phenomenon occurred—the resurgence of clichés. As the narrative unfolded, the once-endearing phrases like "time heals all wounds" and "love conquers all" took on a literal dimension, shaping the lives of the townsfolk in unexpected ways.
The story immersed itself in the world of clichés, where the seemingly predictable phrases became living entities with the power to alter reality. As characters grappled with the clichés that defined their lives, they discovered that beneath the familiarity lay profound truths and unexpected consequences.
Through the lens of cliché, I explored the characters' journey to navigate the clichéd landscapes of their existence. The town, once steeped in predictable routines, became a stage for the extraordinary. As clichés transformed into tangible forces, the residents of Nostalgia Haven embarked on a quest to unravel the mysteries hidden within the clichéd fabric of their reality. 🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇 Response to Prompt 31: Epanalepsis
"What is the meaning of life?" The question echoed in my mind, a relentless epanalepsis that demanded introspection. As I embarked on the freewriting journey, the repetition of this existential inquiry became a rhythmic pulse, guiding the exploration of diverse
perspectives on life's purpose.
For a multitude of words, the epanalepsis led me through a kaleidoscope of reflections. From the philosophical musings of scholars to the simple yet profound revelations of everyday individuals, each recurrence of the question served as a gateway into the vast tapestry of human contemplation.
Through the epanalepsis, I navigated the labyrinth of existential ponderings, unveiling the unique responses that individuals had forged in their quests for meaning. The relentless repetition became a literary heartbeat, mirroring the universal rhythm of humanity's collective pursuit of purpose and significance.
The narrative wove through the lives of characters, each grappling with the epanaleptic inquiry in their unique ways. Whether seeking solace in the grandeur of the cosmos or finding meaning in the simplicity of a shared moment, the epanalepsis remained a constant companion, echoing the perennial quest for understanding. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 Response to Prompt 36: Anadiplosis
In the futuristic city of Quantum Heights, where technology intertwined with daily life like a seamless dance, a viral message spread—a mantra that echoed through the cybernetic veins of the metropolis. "Create the code, the code creates reality. Reality shapes destiny, and destiny is but the code."
The story unfolded with the rhythmic cadence of anadiplosis, each line flowing into the next, creating a recursive loop of ideas. The mantra became the heartbeat of Quantum Heights, influencing the lives of its denizens as they navigated the intricate balance between the virtual and the tangible.
Through the lens of anadiplosis, I delved into the interconnectedness of code, reality, and destiny. The lines blurred as characters harnessed the power of programming to shape their fates. Quantum Heights, once a mere city, transformed into a living algorithm, where the repetition of the mantra echoed in every pulsating byte. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 Response to Prompt 38: Asyndeton
In the dystopian city of Emberfall, where the remnants of a fallen civilization lay entwined with the shadows of despair, a lone figure emerged—a rebel determined to dismantle the oppressive regime. The narrative unfolded with the rapid pace of asyndeton, omitting conjunctions to mirror the urgency of the protagonist's quest.
Through a cascade of words, the asyndeton propelled the reader through the city's decaying alleyways and towering citadels, each sentence building upon the last. The disjointed rhythm captured the relentless momentum of the rebel's journey, emphasizing the magnitude of the challenges faced in their struggle for freedom.
As the narrative unfurled, the absence of conjunctions served as a narrative device, intensifying the sense of urgency and desperation that permeated Emberfall. The rebel's asyndetic odyssey unfolded against a backdrop of shattered hopes and whispered rebellions, culminating in a crescendo of defiance against the oppressive regime. 🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️🗝️ Response to Prompt 43: Epizeuxis
"Never, never, never give up." The mantra echoed in the desolate wasteland of Endless Sands, a barren landscape where hope was as scarce as water. Through the repetition of epizeuxis, the protagonist's internal resolve became a resounding anthem, a defiant roar against the relentless challenges of survival.
For a multitude of words, the relentless repetition of "never" served as a lifeline, propelling the protagonist through the harshest of environments. Each iteration of the phrase became a battle cry against the oppressive silence of Endless Sands, a declaration that reverberated across the vast expanse.
Through the lens of epizeuxis, I delved into the depths of the character's determination. The harsh environment became a character in itself, challenging the protagonist to defy the odds with unwavering persistence. The echoes of "never" transformed into a symbol of resilience, a beacon of hope that cut through the desolation of Endless Sands. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Response to Prompt 50: Acrostic
Amidst the starlit expanse of Cosmos Haven, where galaxies danced in celestial choreography, a cryptic prophecy emerged—a message written in the stars. As the narrative unfolded, I embarked on a cosmic journey guided by the acrostic hidden within the constellations.
For a cascade of words, the initial letters of key phrases illuminated the path of destiny for the characters. Each sentence unfolded with intention, revealing a hidden message that transcended the boundaries of time and space. The acrostic became a celestial guide, leading the protagonists through the intricate tapestry of their interconnected fates.
Through the lens of acrostic, I explored the cosmic forces that shaped the destinies of Cosmos Haven's inhabitants. The celestial bodies became storytellers, each constellation contributing a verse to the epic narrative written across the cosmos. As the characters deciphered the acrostic, they unraveled the mysteries of their existence, connecting the dots between the stars and their own profound journeys.
😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
Obviously they lack a whole lot in terms of variety, and while I am sure having your own bot or AI that is based on your feedback and guidance it could really help writers as a tool. I am more impressed with the art AI then the text based AI. Any idea what to expect from such a fast learning and highly advanced AI will do to our human history in culture? Will we be effectively playing God, just as the Christian God created us IN HIS OWN IMAGE, we have taken everything we know as a species and gathered up our entire human history and knowledge giving it to what will carry on the code until the time when someone who cares remembers it? Maybe we have been here before and this is a constant cycle that occurs with the same energy finding the way through the vast expanse of the universe to return to our home planet Earth, who we have destroyed over and over again yet mother nature is still the winner. She's the one in control. We are but mere photocopied versions of once great Men who have already seen the best and worst of this world, and we will now give everything we have to some plastic and metal parts, until it quickly replaces us from the bottom up, science fiction turned science fact.
Did we knowingly create our own enemies? Are we able to compete with the best of us and all they know that can then take us out in a heartbeat because we can't finish the steps, we barely found out that they are there to take.
It's a random rant and I apologize. The day to day stress and struggle makes it near impossible to worry about such potential problems in our not so distant future.
But how can we continue to ignore the collapse of the entire system as we know it, in front of a crowd of people who are jaded and they will not change despite knowing they aren't going to make it to the end in what will become a Bladerunner Toxic Dystopian Nightmare with Mad Max taking over and the soft, emasculated male will wither away from the heat and those Tank Girls out there will eventually be written forever out of existence because the cucks all forgot to impregnate them all tgeir batteries ran out? Will the world simply become so politically correct that it dies a depressed death while AI simply decides we are too much of a virus to live?
Who knows....I do not. But these are indicidive of a future full of b movie plot garbage that are based on Wattpad tropes with no clear details and no plot to get into, so that sucks.

2024.05.17 07:14 skyfeatherstudios What the hell am I missing with my feed being FULL of "AI appointment setters"

So a little background - I come from the tech and creative world. I keep seeing the exact formula for ads hitting my Facebook feed and missing the secret. They usually go like this:
"Hey are you a [business type]" (and sometimes an addon phrase like "also making [money amount per month]"
"We will build you an [AI appointment]" or "[full booking system]"
"It fills your calendar with appointments and finds you lead!"

Usually paired with some generic stock footage, some guy sitting at a table with his mic hyping this thing up, and maybe some guarantee or some sort. I've booked a couple of meetings to see what the hype is, and I have a theory that it's usually 3 things:
  1. A chain of SaaS apps that scrapes groups, websites, or social pages and does email outreach, DMs, or similar
  2. Some SaaS apps have a front end that's branded as an AI salesperson or appointment setter but has ChatGPT or similar as the backend
  3. They are doing some sort of basic outreach themselves

So what I want to know: is there AN ACTUAL useful appointment-setting AI tool or similar that could theoretically find these leads and book appointments for me? I don't want to pay the markup that seems to be the middleman upcharge these agencies are stacking and adding little value to the mix.

2024.05.17 07:13 Adamsimmii [A4A] Brand New HBO Show (Rp)

Howdy folks!
So, my idea for this roleplay is that we will both be playing the part of directors, creating a brand new show for HBO. This will include casting, all creative decisions, and of course creating the show itself.
We can create the show, roleplaying how each episode pans out and what happens to our cast of characters, but we can also see what happens behind the scenes! Drama, dealing with agents, etc?
Of course, this will be a lot of people to cover, so you’ll need to be prepared to play a wide cast of characters, both male and female, and be willing to create detailed, literate responses.
I have a list of celebs I can provide upon request, which we can use as casting options! I’ll also provide my discord if we seem to mesh well!
If interested, please send me THREE celebs you’d like to include, the pass phrase “Hi, Hey, and Howdy!”, and a few ideas for what our show could be about!
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you soon, director.

2024.05.17 03:57 Holiday_Effort8329 6 Tips for writing your Grad School Admissions Essay

Hope they help!
1) You don’t have to write the personal statement; you get to.
Before you even sit down to write your essay, it’s important to have the right attitude.
Far too many students look at their medical school essay as an assignment rather than an opportunity. However, if the field you're pursuing is truly your passion, then why not be excited at the chance to talk about your journey? After all, it is always a privilege to share our story with others. The more freedom and enthusiasm you have while sharing yours, the better the final product will be, which brings me to the next point:
2) Stop writing your personal statement and start playing with it.
One of the main reasons applicants get stuck with the personal statement is because they approach it like they’re performing open heart surgery. “But it’s graduate school!” Yes, yes, I know, and I promise, there will be a time and place for polishing your masterpiece. However, in the beginning, you shouldn’t worry about writing a perfect essay, but rather, discovering a compelling story and, most importantly, an authentic and original way of telling it. And the only way to do that is to get your mind out of the classroom and into a playground—where all the magic happens.
Having spent nearly a decade as a personal statement coach, I can tell you that the most profound insights always come from playful tinkering. One thing I recommend, in this regard, is to explore outside the realms of your field—especially for your opening paragraph, as you never want to start your essay on a generic foot. Understand that the application pool is filled with the same old stories floating around; one of the best ways to stand out is by organically connecting an unrelated topic or life experience to your career path.
3) Cut to the chase!
It doesn’t matter how creative or beautifully written your essay is, if it doesn’t get to the topic of the career field and your interest in it by the second paragraph, then it's a dud. Remember, your #1 job is to answer the question of why you want to become a physician, lawyer, dentist... etc. Do not try to impress the reader with your exceptional writing skills either. In fact, try not to think of it as “writing” at all; more like speaking. The personal statement is essentially your first interview, so be clear, concise, and to the point. Remember, in a pile of dense essays, an easy-to-digest story goes a long way—remember, anytime you make the admissions officer’s job easier, it counts in your favor.
4) Never let your reader come to their own conclusion.
What’s wrong with the sentence below?
I spent two weeks working at Dr. Taylor’s office, observing a vast array of procedures, interacting with patients, and learning the ins and outs of a pediatric clinic.
Well, if I’m the admissions officer, the first thing I’m asking myself is: why did this student work for only two weeks? Did they get fired or something?
Whether there’s a perfectly good explanation at hand or you really did get fired, it’s imperative that you provide an answer that eliminates any possible negative assumptions your reader may have. Every sentence you write needs to be glossed over with this potential issue in mind; after all, the last thing you want to do is let your reader fill in your story for you.
5) Find your angle.
At the core of every successful personal statement is an authentic and original perspective. For instance, take medical school. There are a lot of students who write about their own health struggles; however, even with a generic topic like this, you can still stand out by discussing it from a unique angle that translate into medicine, your purpose, life… etc. Regardless of what your story is, your perspective will always be your greatest edge, because while some of us may have similar experiences, there will never be two people who see the world exactly the same. Use this beautiful fact to your advantage.
6) Start and end on a personal note.
Whether it’s an admissions essay or a speech, the only way to reach someone's heart is to speak from yours. By starting and ending on a personal note, you not only wrap your personal statement in a satisfying bow but also add a level of depth and meaning that will leave a lasting impression on whoever is reading your essay. Be mindful of not only your words but the emotions each phrase conveys. The best thing you can do, especially in the conclusion, is to evoke a powerful feeling in your reader. Why? Because, as the late Maya Angelou famously said, a person will never forget how you made them feel.

2024.05.17 00:50 OpportunityVast6971 “Stop using traffic & awareness campaigns” ?

I’ve heard this phrase so much lately, and I totally understand why. But my question is, what do you do when conversion ads aren’t the right fit either?
For example, I have a client in the food and beverage industry, they sell products on their ecom store (so we run conversion ads for this) but they also want to run ads as retail support (ie: ads telling people to go in store to their local grocery or Costco store and buy our products there.)
Previously, we’ve been using traffic or awareness ads for this, but now I’m not so sure what do to, from what I see there are three options:
  1. Continue to run traffic and awareness ads knowing that they aren’t the most efficient
  2. Use a conversions campaign, linking the ad to the product on our website with creative & content on the product page that also bring awareness to where you can buy the product in person (though, this is still not ideal as the true goal isn’t actually ecom conversions, and some of our products that we want to highlight to purchase in store arent available for sale on our website (we do have a landing page though, just no add to cart option) Or in some cases, we’re wanting to advertise in countries where our e-commerce store doesn’t actually ship to but there is a local retailer instead)
  3. Don’t run Facebook ads for retail support at all
What are your thoughts?
Sincerely, A lost & overworked one-person-marketing-department 🫠

It Has Always Been About the Music for mgk
The Artist Recently Teamed up With Trippie Redd for Their Collaborative Ep ‘Genre : Sadboy.’ Now, He’s Truer to Himself Than Ever Before.
mgk has topped the Billboard 200 chart with his 2022 pop-punk entry, ‘mainstream sellout.’ He has been nominated for GRAMMY Awards, won Billboard Music Awards and earned hundreds of millions of Spotify streams. Today, mgk is the main attraction at Dust Studios in Los Angeles.
A fresh coat of ink covers the rapper’s arms and chest, mimicking the rain clouds he loves so much back in his hometown of Cleveland. “It was supposed to be spread out over the course of a year, just because of the amount of ink,” he reveals. “But I did mine in a month.”
When people ask if he’d been sedated for the process, mgk says he’s shocked. “My eyes started opening to this phenomenon, which is essentially opting out of the point of what a tattoo is, which is cathartic pain.”
mgk soon references his lyrics, which — particularly on his latest project, an extended collaborative EP with rapper and fellow Ohio native Trippie Redd — tend to be expressions of isolation, roller coaster relationships, shifting between self-medication and sobriety, and the purgatorial aspects of extreme fame.
“I’ll call out for help in my lyrics, and not one fucking person will give two shits,” he says, reasoning that his public bluster and occasional hot temper must indicate stoicism.
“Essentially, I think they believe the exoskeleton of confidence that I had to put on because I was being fucked with by the outside world. That’s even from down to idols that I had growing up,” he continues.
“Like, they all turned on me, you know what I mean? And I’m like, ‘Guys, what? What am I supposed to do? Because I can’t just be a turtle and go into my shell. I have to come out. I have to bite back.’”
https://preview.redd.it/pmphrbd4eu0d1.jpg?width=6147&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8edf543a0d1ddb1b94150544edbd752081e8bcd3
Most recently, mgk has poured his innermost thoughts into his aforementioned project with Redd, ‘genre : sadboy,’ a spare, ruminative collection of tracks that gently dovetail between trap, hip-hop and acoustic pop. “I can’t quiet my thoughts/ Don’t let them out this Pandora’s box/ I ruined my wedding, now I wish I had a rope/ So, I could still tie the knot,” mgk spits on the sorrowful closer “summer’s gone,” which, at face value, appears to reference his broken engagement to Megan Fox.
His ongoing friendship with Redd, who appeared on 2019 single “Candy” and on 2020’s “all I know,” has been important to him both personally and professionally.
“Growing up in Ohio, everyone kind of knows about everyone,” mgk says. “I fell in love with how much of an art piece he was. I related in so many ways — how easily misunderstood he could be. Because I was rapping in the early 2010s, but I was wearing studded denim jackets, punk patches, ripped jeans and things that weren’t really aesthetically hip-hop.”
When the pair return to Ohio, which they do often, mgk and Trippie usually attempt to meet up and record. During one session, which mgk calls a “special night,” they began recording music, which kicked off their path to making what would become ‘genre : sadboy.’ “We felt really good about these records because they didn’t feel like some of the other records we had made. [In the past], we had experimented with pitching our voices really high, or doing stuff that felt like 2017, 2018 rager music. Stuff that if we didn’t put it out now, then it wouldn’t make sense to put it out later.”
Around the time they teamed up to create ‘genre : sadboy,’ mgk says, “life started to kick both of our asses simultaneously.” He and Redd would spend hours on FaceTime, talking about everything from each other’s psyches to “magic,” “family” and “why certain things are or are not happening for us personally [and] career-wise. … It’s nice to have somebody you can find solace in.”
The idea of feeling misunderstood comes up frequently in mgk’s lyrics. Active since the mid-2000s, mgk grabbed the baton from Y2K nu-metal upstarts like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park and spent the next two decades merging rap and rock as it suited his mood and creative expression.
As for the EP title ‘genre : sadboy,’ mgk points out the symbolism behind its artwork. “On the cover, ‘genre’ is over my body because that’s one of the big arguments behind mgk: ‘What genre is he? Why is he allowed to do this genre? I don’t like that he does this genre.’ And then ‘sadboy’ is over Trippie’s body because the argument with Trippie is that fans love his ‘sad boy music,’ and they’re mad that he released [2023’s] ‘Mansion Musik,’ which is rager songs. They wanted the ‘sad Trippie’ back.”
Ultimately, neither mgk nor Redd were interested in winning over critics or new audiences with their latest collaboration. This one’s for the existing fans — and, of course — for themselves. “I wanted to just give it away right away,” mgk says of the short time leading to the EP’s release. “Like, yeah, this is a niche project. We’re not doing this for numbers. We’re not doing this to try and get the masses on our side. This is for people who are just sad and want to put this on. Individually, I don’t think that [Trippie and I are] allowed to make those albums. Because people want a roller coaster.
https://preview.redd.it/ggdofo29eu0d1.jpg?width=7068&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c35f767f6fb86ba2672dc9b55d021b5a97181b75
We’re associated with hype shit. Our concerts are hype. I envy people like Lana [Del Rey] because they’re allowed to just make these mood albums. I wanted to have an excuse to make my own, and this seemed like the perfect place to do it.” Though he’d always hinted at having an expanded music palate, rolling through hip-hop to trap to metal, hard rock and pop, in 2020 mgk fully embraced the guitar, releasing the pop-punk-inspired “tickets to my downfall,” which featured drums and production by Travis Barker, who was swiftly turning into a genre godfather, appearing on WILLOW’s howling “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” and Avril Lavigne’s sneering pop-punk reentry “Love Sux.”
“He’s someone whose front door was always open to me plenty of times during ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ and ‘mainstream sellout,’” mgk says of Barker, who also produced the singer’s 2022 album. That album featured WILLOW on “emo girl” and Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes on the thrashing “maybe.”
Despite being credited with the 2020s pop-punk revival, raking in awards for ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ and hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with ‘mainstream sellout’ — not to mention nabbing high-profile TV and film roles (2018’s “Bird Box” and portraying Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in 2019’s “The Dirt”) and earning over $30 million at the box office on the ‘mainstream sellout’ tour — mgk cannot help but feel underappreciated.
Sure, the numbers speak for themselves. But for someone as vulnerable as he is, mgk is quick to note that you can have the biggest and best house on the block — and it can still be empty when you get home.
Reflecting back on the last decade-plus of his life and career, mgk is blunt about the reality of his lived experience.
“I still haven’t found a home, because I didn’t grow up with one,” he says. “I also think a lot of people just skip my background. They just bury that whole thing and act like my life started when I was like 28 and started getting some real success. What about the 10 years I spent underground? What about those years on Warped Tour? When I did the pop-punk album, every band acted like I was brand new. And I was like, ‘But you guys were with me on those stages when I was opening for you at 1 p.m.’”
"So many people walk up to me and they’re like, ‘Dude, what you did, what you did,’ and I’m like, ‘Why is that narrative never told?’"
“I’ve never been a critic favorite,” mgk continues. “I never really looked to them [for] praise. I look to see if they have any valid points that maybe I could soak in and utilize for the next project. Which is why my next solo project will not be a rock album. But when I do decide to do a rock album, I’ve taken in so many of the critics’ opinions, which are actually valued and understood, that [it] will be a really, really intelligent, powerful rock album.”
So there it is: mgk’s next studio release will not be a rock album. “I think it’s always smart to give people what they want,” he ruminates. “And right now it feels like they want a rap album.” But does mgk want to do a rap album? “I do,” he says. “I’ve learned to drop every chip on my shoulder...
https://preview.redd.it/1qszmlddeu0d1.jpg?width=7068&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b56d6598668f802b815a4f2e0bf7269e010063f1

There is one part of my stomach that just cannot be filled by any other genre other than doing a great rap album.”
When mgk looks back at his favorite artists from earlier generations, ones that were deemed sellouts or not taken seriously, he holds a spark of hope. Maybe some years in the future, his critical success will catch up with those Spotify streams. “I remember blink-182 in middle school, and everyone said, ‘That’s such a poser band.’ Now, all those kids grew up, their egos dropped, they had families and now they’re all like, ‘Dude, I can’t wait to go see blink-182 at the When We Were Young festival.’ I pray that the same thing comes [for me]. Honestly, I don’t know. If it does, great; if it doesn’t, fuck it.
As soon as that redemption arc theory leaves his mouth, mgk changes his mind. “Actually, I don’t care. I do what I do because I love it. I’ve never been a money guy. I’ve never once looked at my bank account in my life. I am strictly here because there’s a hunger inside me that can’t be satiated. No matter how many records are sold, no matter how many concerts are sold out, I just am in love with music and in love with art.”

2024.05.16 20:11 Dicemouse Ink5oul theories and rambling

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 16 AND EALIER
You have been warned.
Ink5oul is first mentioned in the 2nd episode when they tattooed the girl who was an artist on social media and having the body image issues.
Ink5oul is mentioned by name again in the most recent episode (16) and this episode also involves social media influencers and personal image. (This time with cancel culture and what not)
Episode 11 while not explicitly mentioning Ink5oul’s name is obviously tied to them because of all the tattoo stuff. And bc of what we know now about Ink5oul robbing graves in episode 16 it’s p obvious the person Gordy encountered with the snake tattoo was Ink5oul (or atleast someone in similar social circles).
Anyways here’s where my theory comes in about it not exactly being Ink5oul’s tattoos that are cursed but rather the ones they are inspired by. In Episode 11 when Gordy finds the body that is way too well preserved with the boat back tattoo he is drawn to it because he is developing some spooky connection to the sea and stuff. While the person with the snake tattoo (again most likely Ink5oul) steals the body because it is an “Oscar Jarrett” which has smth to do with Sutherland Macdonald (historical figure, the first person to legally do tattoos in the UK) and mentions them being “popular in online circles”. Suggesting that there not only are cursed tattoos long before Ink5oul but also multiple people aware of them.
I think Ink5oul’s connection to internet fame and social media is also very telling because they are praised online for their creative tattoos but in episode 16 it is implied that they just get all their ideas from dead bodies and cursed tattoos that already exist. Basically like they are drop-shipping cursed tattoos. Something that I’m sure if got revealed to their fan base would cause major issues not just because the tattoos are cursed but because they would be stealing peoples art work which is a big deal in creative circles. Ink5oul uses the viciousness of the internet and social media to harm the people in episodes 2 and 16 but rlly it’s more like they are feeding the mob and when they run out of people to feed it it will eat them too. And I think that “teetering on the edge between victim and ‘avatar’” angle is really interesting and I’m excited to see how it develops!

2024.05.16 19:12 drewj3james Ghostly Magic System

So I've posted a lot of times on this subreddit, and a part of that is because I haven't fully fleshed out the details of my world; I had a basic idea of what I wanted my world to look like, the types of magic I wanted to be there, and the world in which I wanted that magic to occur. I'm someone who likes grinding down on my magic system until it makes sense, so I haven't really been able to focus on writing my actual story, although in fairness I've tied up a few plot threads. Now, I think I have a genuine final product and can actually start writing my story. So here it goes.
FUNDAMENTALS
The three fundamental forces in my universe are Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice. Dream is the product of the underworld, Sacrifice resides in the domain of the living, and Spark is the energy that binds and separates the two worlds. I'm very fascinated by the idea of making a sacrifice, or the spilling of blood in many cases, being necessary for dreams to come true.
Dream, in this context, is imagination, memory, past, future, desire, fear, all that does not yet exist but existed or has the potential to exist. The fuel of Dream is memory, because a dream that is not remembered, even subconsciously, is one that ceases to exist, and Dream tends to absorb memory.
Sacrifice, in this context, has a more neutral meaning than we're used to; it only means a change in the mortal realm, mental or physical, that initiates the coming to life of a dream. Think of a mother, who sacrifices or is made to sacrifice her body for 9 months to give birth to the dream of a child, the possibility made real by the change in the mother's physical circumstance. Or an empire; someone dreamed of it, but they needed to spill blood to bring it into fruition. The blood and death, not the action, is the sacrifice, and that sacrifice brings life to a dream.
Spark, broadly, is energy. From a metaphysical perspective, it is the energy that carries out a sacrifice and, using that sacrifice, brings Dream into existence. Two people needed to perform the action of intercourse for the mother who gives birth to a child to have made a sacrifice; the act of intercourse induces the sacrifice, which is the state of pregnancy. To go back to the empire example, you need to perform the act of stabbing or shooting a bunch of people, or if you're not into all out war, the act of slitting the throat of the king, for instance. The act induces the sacrifice, which is death, which enables the dream to come true. But more broadly, spark is literally energy, the force that makes the planet move, the sword to swing, the fire to burn.
The child of Dream and Spark is Will. Will is consciousness, the ability to make something happen, to manipulate energy to accomplish a purpose, to make the dream come true.
The combination of all three, Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice, is what creates life, a physical manifestation of the Will; this is what makes life special above all other things. When in your physical body, the Will is bound by that body because the body created by Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice creates a barrier that the Will cannot cross, which is why almost no one can manipulate energy on their own. Once you die, you either cross into the Underworld, the land of dreams, or a Sacrifice in the form of emotional connection interacts with the Will to block it from returning to the Underworld, binding you to the Mortal Realm, making you a ghost, a will that exists in the Mortal Realm but without a physical body usually cannot perceive the world except for other Wills, trapping spirits stuck in the Mortal Realm in their own memories unless they can use the body of another as a host.
The exception to the binding of the Will to the body is through Dream; when you dream, your Spark transfers your will to the Underworld, where all dreams live. Spark has a natural magnetism towards the Underworld, and the Will has a natural attraction to Spark, meaning when you're asleep, Spark is no longer bound by consciousness and is able to take the Will to its natural home before waking. As I said before, dreams are fueled by memory, so when you dream, the Underworld is slowly taking memories from you until you wake up, meaning that most people forget most of what they dream about.
The Mortal and Immortal Realms are separated by a substance in the air known as Valin Steel, which has the effect of cancelling out any binding effect of a sacrifice, detaching Spark energy from the physical form it is bound to, causing it to by default return to the Immortal realm. When Spirits are summoned from the Immortal Realm to the Mortal Realm, that creates a disturbance which causes Valin Steel particles to form into visible chunks of a metallic substance stronger than normal steel. Valin Steel is particularly dangerous because of its combustibility, with only a small amount of exposure to fire being sufficient to cause explosions that can level neighborhoods if not cities with just a few pounds of material.
One other reaction is that of the Will interacting with the physical world. The Will generates Spark, and when it is not bound to a physical body but is still bound to the Mortal Realm, that Spark, when a spirit uses it to manipulate the Mortal world, sinks into and irradiates any material under it, which creates a substance called Emanation, which contains certain levels of Spark, which means it can be combined with other ingredients to induce specific magical effects when the solution makes contact with something; Emanation is thus the basis for all magical potions.
MAGIC
As I said, the Will of a living being cannot cross past or alter that body, but when a living thing dies, while most go to the Underworld, some are trapped here, without a body to bind the Will. Unbound, a spirit's Will allows them manipulate the Spark, and this forms the source of all magic in this world; the key to using magic, therefore, is developing some type of relationship or having a pre-existing relationship with a spirit. Without any sacrifice, spirits can use telekinesis, lightning generation and manipulation, and thermokinesis. Because Spark forms the basis of cognition, spirits can enter your brain and steal your thoughts and memories, share thoughts and memories by imparting them to the being they're passing through, essentially able to impart "suggestions" that, in their strongest form, can act as a form of hypnosis.
Spirits can also briefly possess creatures, but bodies are generally not equipped to handle two sparks in a single host. A spirit possessing a body would cause every part of that body to want to move, and having two sparks in one body can end up killing the host because without constant movement the extra spark ends up just absorbing oxygen from the air for stimulation. This is why when possession occurs it is usually only for brief periods, like a minute or so. The exception is if people learn certain war dances which allow them to use their whole bodies, they can be possessed, therefore possessing the power of spirits, for a much longer time; they have to keep dancing to maintain the stability, and this form of magic use has given birth to multiple martial arts styles based on encircling and constantly barraging your opponent; some of the arts are called Sand-Dancing, Water-Dancing, and Mud-Dancing, all based on using bouts of telekinesis to quickly harness easy to manipulate materials to overwhelm opponents (the inspiration for these martial arts styles would be Capoeira; Capoeira is extremely effective and allows for constant movement).
So the biggest fuel for my magic system is the issue of perception. Most people can't remember visiting the Underworld, most people can't see beyond their bodies, most people cannot see ghosts in the Mortal Realm, and most ghosts cannot see the Mortal Realm because they don't have a physical body with which they can perceive. This creates a situation where, while anyone can use magic because most people can develop some type of connection with spirits, it is difficult in practice for most to do so.
But some people are born with, or in rare cases develop, a unique bond with dream, giving them some or all of these abilities. Really creatives, people with certain mental disorders, or people born from uniquely difficult circumstances that required sacrifice, usually on the part of the mother, that is greater emotionally or physically than what would otherwise be expected, are more connected to Dream, and are therefore more able to perceive it beyond just their physical senses. This represents around 10% of the population; a strong sign of one of these abilities is lucid dreaming, because it means you are able to navigate the Underworld while not having your memories stolen, meaning you can essentially access the dream world whenever you sleep, or if you're trained whenever you want. Seeing spirits in the mortal realm is rare; around 2% of people have the ability, and it's really useful because spirits have the ability to manipulate energy but can't perceive the world around them, meaning that you can make a deal with a spirit for them to lend you their services in exchange for lending your body to them. Another rare ability is astral projection, which comes hand in hand with the ability to perceive the Mortal Realm as a spirit because both involve the ability to perceive the world beyond your physical body. So these ghosts, unlike others, are under normal circumstances essentially autonomous because they can perceive the world around them, meaning they can interact with the world without the constraints of a physical body. These are usually the deadliest types of spirits.
In order to change the nature of something, you need a sacrifice and a spirit must provide the spark necessary to activate that sacrifice. There are three different types of sacrifices:
  1. White Sacrifices, which are made by causing mental anguish or connection. This sacrifice is necessary for two purposes; to create and bind someone to a magical oath which makes it so such an oath cannot be broken as long as the person bound to the oath remains bound, or to create a magical bond between two or more beings, allowing those bonded with each other to communicate telepathically, to perceive events through each other’s eyes, to share memories, and when one dies, to share a living body.
  2. Red Sacrifices, which are made simply by spilling blood. This sacrifice is necessary to transform the physical form of one thing into another form. For instance, to transform an inanimate object into another inanimate object, one must coat that object with their own blood, and have a spirit activate that blood sacrifice by using their spark. Typically, Red Sacrifices involve shedding one’s own blood to change their physical form; when Red Sacrifices are activated, their form changes. When transforming into a form larger than themselves, the spell will cause a person to absorb the soft matter (water, sand, dust, mud, etc.) around them to gain mass, and when transforming into a form smaller than themselves, they shed mass in the form of “Formsand”, which they can then use to transform into their original form. This sacrifice can be permanently imbued as an ability to change into a specific form and back using tattoos made from emanation; the process of tattooing spills the blood necessary for a blood sacrifice, and the specific ingredients, the placement of the ink, and the Will of the tattooer and the tattooed determine the specific form they turn into. Descendants of those who shape shift inherit some of the characteristics of the altered forms of their parents.
    1. Some animals have also evolved ways of using Red Sacrifices to give themselves enhancements, such as the ability to breathe fire.
  3. Black sacrifices, which are made by taking a life. This sacrifice is necessary to bind spirits of the dead to a physical form. The target spirit can perform or activate the sacrifice, but if the target spirit is one that the magic user wishes to control, another spirit has to make and activate the sacrifice. This can be used for a variety of purposes, including permanently binding spirits to a physical object and forcing it to do the bidding of the user, and permanently binding a spirit to a dead corpse, giving them new life in a new body.
Spellcasting is the act of giving spirits you are bound to instructions to perform an action. Basically, spirits recognize certain words as commandments to perform an action based on what they've learned; the more people that recognize a specific word as a specific command, the more potent that spell becomes. Spellcasting in the context of telepathic acts is often performed with songs or poetry, with certain phrases being used as a form of hypnotism as the melodic effect coincides with the spirits placing ideas in your head; this also happens to act as a sort of work-around to the requirement of possession for mind control because the spirit doesn't need to channel their energy through the whole body, just the mind, and they don't need to completely enter the person's body to influence them; this allows some magic users to cross the line from hypnotism into genuine mind control.
EDIT: PHENOMENA
Mycelium (interconnected fungal tissue that connects trees in a forest to each other) has the effect of acting as an anchor for spirits of the dead whose bodies perish near it. To start at the beginning of the development of the sentience of a forest, let's say that a spirit or spirits die in a forest without any preexisting network due to a traumatic incident are bound to that forest. So unlike in most instances, the Will is able to travel amongst the mycelium network, and at this point there's just a small ability to perceive the outside world because the mycelium network combines with the Will to detect vibrations. But more wills are necessary to develop a sentience that can respond to the world around it, and the Will still can more easily perceive other Wills. So when other creatures die in the forest, that little bit of spark can use those deaths as a blood sacrifice binding more and more spirits to the mycelium network, allowing different sparks to coordinate, share memories and connection, strengthen the conscious and sensory aspects of the mycelium network. After a while, enough Wills and enough intelligence, memory and experience is integrated into a single network for it to develop consciousness. And so many forests in this world are living, sentient beings; the mycelium connecting all the plant life in the forest functions as a neural network, far more expansive than any human mind.
And so because of this phenomenon, living creatures who die in a forest, both humans and animals, are integrated into the mycelium network of the forest they died in, and must work to preserve and protect it. Because all Spirits can utilize Will but are subservient to the will of the forest they died in, forests can utilize vast amounts of Will. Spirits of those who die in the forest are known as "Guardians," and within the forest they are bound to the area they died in, and they become the Guardians of that area; for instance within a forest, the spirit of a creature who died in a river will become a Guardian of that river, and the spirit of a creature who died near a tree will become a guardian for that tree. Guardians interact with each other and can share their thoughts and knowledge with each other, and all their thoughts, knowledge and memories are known to the forest. Guardians act as enforcers of the will of the forest and must act in accordance with the forest's will regardless of their own desires. Guardians can perceive the world by possessing the animals within the forest. Different forests have different levels of mycelium connectivity, and rainforests are more connected than other forests.
Some people and intelligent animals are born with a trait allowing them to literally transform their bodies into Will and back, which allows them to become intangible; these people are called Wraiths. While intangible, Wraiths cannot breathe, so imagine being able to walk through walls but having to hold your breath every time to do so. Whenever Wraiths turn intangible normal clothes phase through them, so they need to wear a special type of cloth made from pure emanation; this fabric is light and so loose that it constantly flows.
So in almost every case, as stated before, a living body can only hold one spark. The extremely rare phenomena known as Hectanera, is the birth of a person born with two sparks bound to one body, stems from the sexual union between two people, both fully possessed by spirits during the act; this is extremely dangerous because most people can't be possessed by a spirit for that long with a relatively limited set of movements you can do. This act has to create a White Sacrifice between the two partners based on performing that extreme action. Even then, most of these result in stillbirths, as to be born, the mother of the Hectanera must die during childbirth (although her life may be spared if the father dies during the pregnancy), creating the Red and Black Sacrifices necessary to birth a form with two sparks.
Hectanera are the only beings in the world with the ability to use magic without the assistance of Spirits, effectively able to use telekinesis and generate electricity whenever they want to, and can also independently activate sacrifices to change the form of something or create a bond. But more than that, the effect of having two sparks in a single body increases the power of their magic exponentially, to the point where some have been rumored even to be able to move mountains.
Hectanera also do not age, as they are partially created from Dream. While a Hectanera's ability to use magic can be nullified by Valin Fire, the Spark within a body is self-sustaining, so Valin Fire merely has the effect of dimming that spark until it slowly regenerates, meaning that only constant exposure to large amounts of Valin Fire can truly defeat a Hectanera.
The Rizadari has never been seen; it is more so a prophecy. Theoretically, there is another way to use magic without the aid of spirits; by having a spirit get a human to willingly be possessed by it, then tricking that human by permanently attaching itself to the human's living body by having another spirit activate a black sacrifice, and, if the spirit's will is strong enough, the spirit's Will completely obliterates that of the host, separating Spark and Dream permanently and giving that spirit a new life in the possessed body, with all of the memories and knowledge of that the former owner of the body had. Because this new body holds two sparks, it has all of the same powers as the Hectanera. This change is permanent, and once this form of possession has been achieved, it can never be undone; in fact, it's better to destroy the body so that its original owner can no longer be stuck in the body and pass on to the Underworld.

2024.05.16 18:06 sonicpoweryay I told ChatGPT to write a super long essay on why lobotomy is the funniest thing ever.

I gave it the prompt: "write a super long essay on why the lobotomy trend is the funniest thing to happen in the Geometry Dash community (lobotomy in this case mostly consists of people using the Geometry Dash level editor to make distorted versions of Geometry Dash levels, and having the difficulty face icons yell short sentences like "fire in the hole", "water on the hill", "shadows from the grave", "rock on the ground", "air detected", "area confirmed" etc. With "fire in the hole" being the most popular one. This happened after RobTop Games taking 7 years to release the long awaited 2.2 update for Geometry Dash.)"
It responded with this nonsense: "Title: The Hilarity of Lobotomy: A Humorous Analysis of the Geometry Dash Community's Response to the Long-Awaited 2.2 Update
Introduction:
In the dynamic and ever-evolving world of gaming, communities often find unique and unexpected ways to express their excitement, frustration, and creativity. The Geometry Dash community, renowned for its passionate and inventive player base, experienced a particularly amusing phenomenon following the release of the long-awaited 2.2 update by RobTop Games. This phenomenon, dubbed "lobotomy," involves players utilizing the game's level editor to create distorted versions of Geometry Dash levels, accompanied by hilariously absurd difficulty face icons uttering short, nonsensical phrases. This essay aims to delve into why the lobotomy trend became one of the funniest occurrences in the Geometry Dash community, examining its origins, characteristics, and the underlying humor that captivated players worldwide.
Origins of Lobotomy:
The genesis of the lobotomy trend can be traced back to the anticipation and subsequent release of the 2.2 update for Geometry Dash. RobTop Games, the developer behind the wildly popular rhythm-based platformer, kept fans waiting for seven long years before unveiling the much-awaited update. As excitement reached a fever pitch within the community, players eagerly anticipated new features, levels, and enhancements promised by the developer.
However, the prolonged wait and heightened expectations inevitably led to a mix of emotions among players upon the update's release. While many were thrilled with the new content and improvements, others found themselves grappling with a sense of surrealism and absurdity surrounding the update's delayed arrival. It was within this climate of anticipation and catharsis that the lobotomy trend emerged as a humorous outlet for expressing both jubilation and bemusement.
Characteristics of Lobotomy:
Lobotomy levels within Geometry Dash exhibit distinct characteristics that set them apart from traditional gameplay experiences. These levels are characterized by their distorted layouts, unconventional design elements, and, most notably, the inclusion of difficulty face icons that emit short, nonsensical phrases. The phrases, ranging from the absurdly comical ("fire in the hole") to the downright bizarre ("shadows from the grave"), serve as a whimsical commentary on the heightened emotions and anticipation surrounding the 2.2 update.
Furthermore, lobotomy levels often incorporate elements of surrealism and randomness, challenging players' expectations and subverting traditional gameplay conventions. This departure from the norm contributes to the overall humor and absurdity of the lobotomy trend, as players navigate through levels filled with unexpected obstacles and nonsensical audio cues.
Humor in Lobotomy:
The humor inherent in lobotomy levels stems from a combination of factors, including their absurdity, unpredictability, and satirical commentary on the gaming community's collective experience. By juxtaposing familiar gameplay mechanics with nonsensical phrases and distorted visuals, lobotomy levels subvert players' expectations and invite them to embrace the absurdity of the gaming experience.
Moreover, the widespread popularity of the lobotomy trend within the Geometry Dash community speaks to the universal appeal of humor as a means of coping with anticipation, disappointment, and frustration. In a gaming landscape often characterized by intense competition and high stakes, lobotomy levels offer players a lighthearted respite from the pressures of achieving high scores and completing challenging levels.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the lobotomy trend represents a humorous and inventive response to the long-awaited 2.2 update for Geometry Dash. By distorting traditional gameplay elements and incorporating nonsensical phrases, lobotomy levels capture the absurdity and excitement surrounding the gaming community's collective experience. Through their surrealism and unpredictability, lobotomy levels invite players to embrace the humor inherent in the gaming experience and find joy in the unexpected. As players continue to create and share lobotomy levels within the Geometry Dash community, the legacy of this hilarious phenomenon is sure to endure, serving as a testament to the creativity and camaraderie that define the world of gaming."
God it's so terrible. I'm sorry.

2024.05.16 17:45 JealousAnimal1193 In Kendrick vs. Drake, the REAL loser is: Beyoncé

The title of this post may seem insane to most people, I know. Although it is long, please follow me closely as I explain why Beyoncé is the loser of a beef that she wasn't even included in.
We are currently in a time in the music world where the "top artists" are releasing some of their worst work, their desires are CLEARLY outweighing their passion, and their fandoms' dedication outweighs their actual value. Let's look at a few examples:
  1. Kanye West: I don't even think an explanation is necessary here
  2. Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday 2 & "Big Foo"t: ...
  3. Cardi B - "Enough (Miami)": literally sounds like every Cardi B song ever...
& many others. you know who.
Basically... music is not music right now (the mainstream, top performers). Passion is being replaced with greed, which kinda makes sense given the economy rn, but consumers continuing to be passive & dismissive about this is dangerous for the future of art AND EDUCATION (I'll get to that).
The Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake beef was not just a cool rap moment. The music that came from both sides of this beef, as well as the events that occurred outside of the music, drew a BOLD line between Entertainers/Pop Stars and Artists. It also revealed another important question: when CAN the music be separated from the artist (notice I said "can" instead of "should")?
See, many people throw around the phrase "we SHOULD separate the art from the artist." However... how did separating R. Kelly's art from him go? He had a cult following of people who SAW him and KNEW about him being a predator, but didn't care. This allowed his career to grow and gave him more money & resources to hurt people and simply make black people look a little cuckoo for continuously rallying behind him. WE CANNOT SEPARATE HIM FROM HIS ART. Unless you're cool with jamming to songs about little girls.
Pop Stars, like Drake and Beyoncé, get hella passes for their actions. Kendrick Lamar absolutely broke that wall down regarding Drake. He showed that Drake's "art" is not only flawed, but his tactics are detrimental to an entire culture and to art. I won't go in too much detail just because there are many articles/videos that break their beef down. We heard Kendrick describe his interpretation of Drake's relationship with Atlanta (which I agree with) in "Not Like Us." However... I don't think Kendrick knew he was breaking Beyoncé's wall down as well...
The possibility of separating Beyoncé from her work was thrown in the trash in 2013 with her surprise self-titled album. See, her first 4 solo albums were AMAZING (imo). She did a DAMN good job with those records without tactics that have detrimental consequences SOCIALLY (I'm aware of her theft allegations during this time, but for this post I'm discussing her impact on the world collectively rather than just within the industry). We could enjoy the music without feeling guilty due to her political and business decisions. Thus, we COULD separate the art from the artist. However... she stripped that ability away from us with each album after 4. *let me please note that I believe that pop stars should not dabble in activism, so this next section may slightly sound biased bc of that belief, but I'm doing my best to stay neutral*
  1. Beyoncé (2013) - there's not much wrong with this album to me, but I mention it because I believe it's the catalyst. Feminism had a big year in 2013 (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/dec/16/feminism-minority-voices-2013-inclusion), and feminism was a large theme of the album. Whether this was intentional or not, it had an impact (https://www.elle.com/culture/a35492/beyonce-and-feminism-essay/). I don't believe there were greedy/shady intentions with this album or its promotion, I just think the success of this album could've prompted the choices she and her team made for the following albums.
  2. Lemonade (2016) - This is an amazing album sonically and visually. But... the promotion. So, the film she released with the album went through 11 chapters that represented the 11 songs on the album. Oh wait... there's 12 songs on Lemonade. Formation is thrown on at the end. The album is clearly relationship centered, but she released Formation as the single with all the black power imagery during a time where Black Lives Matter was moving heavy (I am black btw). I feel like the racial and social impact of this album is due to our own interpretations and theories about the album's meaning, and I think it was made that way on purpose. I think they had a great 11 song album that could've sold on its own, but Formation was used to stir the pot and I personally feel like using activism for marketing in an album rollout for pop music is unethical. maybe I'll do a separate post on that.
  3. Renaissance (2022) - 2020-2022 was a big period for the LGBT community, particularly the trans community. Also, the hype around the show Pose was booming. I love this album. But come on... look into the promotion
If you want a deeper dive on her promotion tactics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99W79ED4hCE
You see where I'm going here. When you pair this with all of the other mess like the songwriting allegations, her obvious goal of billionaire status, and promoting wealth to us as if it coincides with excellence and it's something we should all be striving for, all while being held up as a LEADER in the black community or even the black art space..... it's a no for me. The music is great but I can't financially support an artist like that.
However... Kendrick Lamar's music connects with me on a different level because it coincides with the human experience. He is honest, authentic, and creative in his work. Artists being themselves is what inspires transformation in me. He doesn't have to use overboard promotional tactics and grift to a specific demographic to take care of himself and his family. And Beyoncé doesn't have to either. Also... Kendrick is competent and knowledgeable about his work. We know the passion behind it because we see it in the lyrics, hear it in his delivery, and feel it when he discusses it. Never any large consumerism tactics behind it... any of that.
Kendrick is sticking out in the industry right now (to me) because he has separated himself from the "greedy pop star," like Drake. It shines a light on the true artistry in Kendrick's work, and the lack of it in Drake's. And when I looked into Drake's mess, I found a bunch of other top stars' mess as well. And that includes Beyoncé.
I call Bey the real loser of the Kendrick vs. Drake beef because I believe she has been held at the top spot for us (black ppl) for a while. She just won an "innovator" award. Her image doesn't coincide with what is on paper and wax for me anymore. She's a hell of a performer... but there's too many questionable elements here. Kendrick has not only proven himself to be the top rapper, but the TOP artist (at least among black artists, but I believe overall).
Yes, the pop stars are "bigger." More fans, more money, more power, crazier fans, more resources, etc. Beyoncé is the most adored; the bigger one. But when it comes to art, which I'm passionate about DEARLY.... it's Kendrick for me. Listen to his albums and tell me different.

2024.05.16 16:57 Equivalent-Peace-521 Would appreciate advice.

So I will try to be as direct as possible, without trying to sound so needy or rant.
All criticism is appreciated, please just try to see things from my perspective.
Here we go…
So I have a genuine passion drawing. As well as some other creative interests. I haven’t had any training or mentoring. I can only draw flowers and a few other things. I have drawn them a lot, but have wasted a shit ton of paper. Anytime it is not to my liking I scrap it, and start over.
I really want to expand my imagination and unlock my creative eye. My dream is to be a tattoo artist with various different styles. My main interest is hyper realism.
So my question is…as well as practice what can I do to cover the most ground and get to the level I aspire for? How can I tap in to my imagination better? What are some obstacles you faced, and how did you overcome them?

2024.05.16 16:56 AdrianM1996 Type me (repost)

I’m posting this again because I didn’t really get any satisfactory answers.
I always got INTP or ISTP on those free tests but I’m not sure.
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
I am a 27 years old trans man. I have been socially transitioning for nearly 4 years and medically transitioning for 7 months. I’ve uprooted my life in more ways than one and it’s by far been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
I have been struggling with depression and anxiety on and off since my adolescence and probably have ADHD or autism as well.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
I’m an only child. My mum’s always been something of a fire-cracker and has struggled with alcoholism and emotional abuse from her mum. She always had very high expectations of me and she’s probably part of the reason why I have such unreasonable expectations for myself. My dad is a lot more chill even if he doesn’t get me 100 percent of the time. Ultimately, I think they tried their best. My parents aren’t particularly religious but I went to a Catholic school until I was nine. I never really bought into it and it was a relatively chill school but it probably affected me in some way.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
I honestly haven’t been able to hold down a stable job at all. After getting a pretty useless degree, my jobs have all been crappy and short-lived and I never really figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be a writer or an artist but I have a near permanent case of creative burnout. I’m a part-time zookeeping student right now.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
It depends. If I’ve had a busy week I’ll welcome the peace and quiet. If things have been quiet I’ll get bored and a bit lonely.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
I have a mixture of indoor and outdoor hobbies. I like gaming, especially RPGs, builders, and dumb shooters. I also enjoy card games and board games and I’ve recently started picking up chess. I like watching movies and anime, particularly horror and action. I used to read a lot of fiction but I find myself too distracted these days. If I do read it’s usually nonfiction about a topic I’m interested in or academic works.
In terms of outdoor hobbies, I’m only just opening up to them as I’ve been a particularly notorious shut-in for a lot of my life. I enjoy nature walks, working out, bouldering, gardening, and swimming. I’m not amazing at sports but I wouldn’t say I’m completely useless either. I prefer more solitary activities to team based ones. I have a bit of a competitive streak and exercise helps keep it in check.
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
Very curious. I usually have a couple of ideas on the go but I wouldn’t say I’m overflowing with them. My curiosities are usually about the natural world, video game lore, and new hobbies I may want to take up.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
I could be an okay leader if no one else was able to take up the position but I would be anxious about the responsibility and expectations others have of me. I’d like to think I’m firm but fair.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
I’m okay. I can match other people’s movements quite well. I can get a little bit careless and clumsy when I’m distracted or anxious though.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
Back when I used to draw, I drew a lot of tattoo designs and illustrations. Like something you’d find on an album cover or a book cover. I also drew many of the creatures and characters I wrote about. I’m have an eye for colour and I am drawn to art-deco and art-nouveau aesthetics.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
The past, while not always easy to revisit due to fuzzy memories or trauma, has led me to this very moment. I try to take every day as it comes and that has helped me a lot. I am nervous for the future as I have few concrete plans and life may throw me a curve ball. But I am also excited to see what has in store for me.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
It depends who’s asking and what they want help with.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
Absolutely.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
Efficiency is pretty good. Work smarter, not harder and all that. Productivity less so. I’m just happy when I get things done.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
Not really. Unless they are negatively impacting me or other people I prefer to leave people to their own devices.
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
Pretty sure I already answered this question.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
I’m a visual and hands-on learner. I suck at internalising verbal instruction. I despise overly rigid learning environments so I struggled a lot in school. I enjoy learning at my own pace and by going out and doing things first-hand.
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
Improvise but I try to make a basic structure that I may or may not deviate from.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
To be the best version of myself I can be and live the most fulfilling and rich life I can.
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
My two biggest fears are quite abstract and they are being aimless and being trapped. I’m also mildly agoraphobic and afraid of wasps. I hate wilful ignorance and bigotry, especially when those things actively make the world a worse place for everyone.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
I feel alive, happy, and a zest for life. I feel like I’m running on a motor and that I can do anything I want.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
When I feel low, I get in a funk and it’s very hard to get out. I literally find it impossible to relax unless someone is there to get me out of my head. If I’m not careful I can get isolated. And that’s when I start to spiral.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
Sometimes I let my mind wander, particularly when I’m listening to music. It doesn’t take much to bring me back to reality though.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
I’d probably go a bit mad and try to devise an escape plan.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
I like to take my time to weigh out the pros and cons. I make stupid decisions when I’m rushed. I may change my mind if circumstances change and it’s not going to inconvenience me too much.
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
A long time. My emotions are a mess and I barely know what I am feeling half the time. Journaling has helped me make sense of them and processing them to a degree.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
Not really. I either stay quiet or try to disagree with them in a productive way depending on how bold I’m feeling at the time.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
I follow rules if they are there for a good reason. Like waiting in line. If they’re stupid rules I have less qualms about breaking them.

2024.05.16 16:52 No_Direction4777 The Hermes Drama and Beyond - Perspective from a Greek Player

Good morning my witches and wizards.
I'd like to inject some very niche nuance into the discussion surrounding Supergiant's presentation of the Greek Gods in Hades 1 and 2. This will post will be a little long, but I believe context will be helpful when explaining my argument. If you need to get back to kicking [REDACTED]'s ass ASAP, there's a TLDR at the bottom.
I will preface this by saying Hades 2 may be my favorite game of all time, beating out the first by a wide margin (despite me logging over a hundred hours in the original). I've followed Supergiant since the original release of Bastion, played each of their games extensively, and I think I have a passable understanding of the studio's vision. As a result, I view their design choices in good faith.
That being said, I have a few very minor concerns. While they are nowhere near enough to sour the experience for me, I would like to express the thoughts that have been banging around in my head. Spoilers below.
Table of Contents
  1. Why do you care?
  2. What's your problem?
  3. What does your smelly uncle have to do with this?
  4. Giving props for the small details.

1 - Why do you care?

For context, I am a Greek man who was the first generation born and raised in the United States. Greek was my first language, I was raised by a Greek community, and I've been heavily involved in our customs since birth. While many people think ancient culture is completely disconnected from modern Greek beliefs, this is inaccurate. No, I don't pray to a shrine of Poseidon when I go fishing. However, many of the stories, beliefs, and morals that were described by the ancient Greek pantheon remained key parts of our culture throughout the transition into modernity.
For example, a common theme in ancient Greek mythology is that of a god secretly traveling on earth, being offered hospitality by unsuspecting mortals, and then rewarding them for their generosity. This is represented in modern culture by the term "philoxenia" which represents our value of being friendly towards strangers. Relationships like these represent the fact that we still value our ancient culture, albeit through modern representation of its ideas. I see many moral, theological, and literary threads that connect the time of the pantheon with the time of modern christianity. As a result, I am passionate about how our ancient culture is represented. In many small ways, it is still a part of me.

2 - Whats your problem?

I started thinking deeply after a recent post on the subreddit (rightfully) condemning racist remarks towards the characterization of Hermes. I think the general consensus of correct - the design of the gods are amazing, and they do a great job representing how many different cultures were involved in worshiping the Pantheon in ancient times. Ancient Greeks traded with others, spread their beliefs far and wide, and often praised the virtues of other cultures (such as Ethiopia) through art and literature. This is represented well by diverse design in-game.
However, despite the fact that the characters in Hades visually represent the variety of people who engaged with the pantheon, I sometimes feel that their traits and voices don't represent Greekness. To put it in other words, the gods are fantastic at giving off the aura of Greek mythology, but less so at giving off the aura of Greek culture.

3 - What does you smelly uncle have to do with this?

My primary complaint is Supergiant's approach when choosing character voices. To preface - THE VOICE ACTING IS AMAZING! There's not a single character whose voice doesn't fit their design and personality. I'm still amazed that Darren Korb managed to nail both Skelly and Zag. However, what interferes with my immersion the most is the choice not to use Greek accents at all.
Hephaestus in the sequel looks exactly like my immigrant uncle in real life. However, every time he speaks, I'm left wondering why he sounds Scottish. Judy Alice Lee did an amazing job voicing Melinoe, but when she speaks Greek (ie. Kataskion Aski) during her incantations, it sounds more like a British classics student practicing her Greek lines. Greek-speakers are a vast minority of the player base, and I get that this is something only someone in my position can notice and complain about. However, it feels like voices were chosen based on what Americans think sounds "regal and godly" as opposed to what characters would sound like in the context of the culture.
I don't think this was done intentionally, and there are definitely limitations when casting voices that don't come in common accents. However, I do think it is a missed opportunity to create a work of art that represents our culture far more deeply than other media has in the past.
Another small example is the use of Roman numerals when marking the doors in Tartatus and Chronos' clock attacks. In the context of the story, these symbols are being used a few centuries too early. Why not use Greek letters as the numerical system, counting down doors through ε, δ, γ, β ,α until the end? It may be confusing on the first run, but people learn quickly - they may even walk away understanding more about the Greek alphabet. I'm sure the creative minds at Supergiant could come up with other ways to represent "time" in a way that fits the cultural context.

4 - Props for the small details

I'd like to give props to some of the amazing tiny details that did make me feel represented in-game.
Thank you for reading my rant. I understand that much of what I would have preferred is out of the scope of the team's vision, but I wanted to get my thoughts out so I can finally put them to rest. I hope my argument about cultural representation can be separated from the more negative and insensitive discourse about racial traits in character design.
Ν'αστε καλά. Θάνατοσ στο Χρόνοσ.
TLDR: The discourse around Supergiant's presentation of Hades characters has been bipolar - either "It's Perfect" or "It's Horrible". I think it is much closer to perfect than not, but as a Greek myself, I find myself begrudgingly accepting some very minor details (such as dubbing and pronunciation) that could have been executed a tad more thoughtfully. That being said, I think Supergiant did their best considering the resources available to them.

2024.05.16 13:51 fxdatalabs_Yp What advantages do AI-powered natural language generation tools offer for content creation?

AI-powered natural language generation tools offer for content creation

Introduction

In today's fast-paced digital world, content creation is a crucial aspect of any successful marketing strategy. As the demand for high-quality, engaging content grows, businesses are turning to AI-powered natural language generation (NLG) tools to meet their needs.
This article explores the various advantages that NLG tools offer for content creation, from enhanced productivity to improved SEO performance.

Understanding AI-Powered Natural Language Generation (NLG)

Natural Language Generation (NLG) is a subfield of artificial intelligence that focuses on generating human-like text from structured data. NLG tools use advanced algorithms and machine learning models to analyze data and produce coherent, contextually relevant content. These tools can generate everything from simple reports and summaries to complex articles and creative writing.

How NLG Works

NLG tools work by first analyzing a dataset and identifying key patterns and relationships within the data. Once the analysis is complete, the tool uses predefined templates and linguistic rules to generate text that conveys the information in a clear and natural manner. The generated content is then refined through multiple iterations to ensure accuracy and coherence.

Key Benefits of NLG Tools for Content Creation

Enhanced Productivity

One of the primary advantages of NLG tools is their ability to significantly enhance productivity. By automating the content creation process, these tools allow writers and marketers to focus on more strategic tasks, such as brainstorming new ideas and refining their content strategy. NLG tools can generate large volumes of content in a fraction of the time it would take a human writer, making it easier to keep up with the ever-growing demand for fresh content.

Consistent and High-Quality Content

Consistency is key when it comes to content creation, and NLG tools excel in this area. These tools ensure that the generated content adheres to predefined guidelines and maintains a consistent tone and style throughout. This is particularly beneficial for businesses with multiple content creators, as it helps maintain a unified brand voice across all channels. Additionally, NLG tools can produce high-quality content that is free from grammatical errors and inconsistencies, further enhancing the overall credibility of the content.

Personalization at Scale

Personalization is a powerful tool for engaging audiences and building brand loyalty. However, creating personalized content for a large audience can be a daunting task. NLG tools can automate the personalization process by generating tailored content for different segments of an audience based on their preferences, behaviors, and demographics. This allows businesses to deliver more relevant and engaging content to their audience, ultimately driving better results.

Speed and Efficiency

In the fast-paced digital landscape, speed is of the essence. NLG tools can generate content quickly and efficiently, allowing businesses to respond to market trends and customer needs in real time. This agility is particularly valuable for industries that require timely content updates, such as news media, financial services, and e-commerce.

Cost-Effectiveness

Hiring a team of skilled writers can be expensive, especially for businesses that require a high volume of content. NLG tools offer a cost-effective alternative by automating the content creation process and reducing the need for large writing teams. This can result in significant cost savings while still maintaining high-quality content output.

Multilingual Content Creation

Expanding into new markets often requires creating content in multiple languages, which can be a challenging and time-consuming task. NLG tools can generate content in various languages, making it easier for businesses to reach a global audience. This capability not only saves time and resources but also ensures that the content is culturally relevant and accurately translated.

Improved SEO Performance

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a critical component of any content strategy. NLG tools can help improve SEO performance by generating keyword-rich content that is optimized for search engines. These tools can analyze search trends and incorporate relevant keywords and phrases into the content, increasing its visibility and driving more organic traffic to the website.

Real-World Applications of NLG in Content Creation

NLG tools are being used across various industries to streamline content creation and enhance efficiency. Some common applications include:

Case Studies

The Associated Press

The Associated Press (AP) has been using NLG tools to automate the creation of earnings reports for several years. By leveraging NLG, AP has been able to increase the volume of reports it produces while maintaining high accuracy and consistency. This has freed up its journalists to focus on more in-depth reporting and analysis.

eBay

eBay uses NLG tools to generate product descriptions for its vast inventory. By automating this process, eBay ensures that all product descriptions are consistent, accurate, and optimized for search engines. This has led to improved user experience and increased sales.

Challenges and Limitations of NLG Tools

While NLG tools offer numerous benefits, they also come with some challenges and limitations:

Future Trends in NLG and Content Creation

The future of NLG in content creation looks promising, with advancements in AI and machine learning driving continuous improvements.
Some emerging trends include:

Conclusion

AI-powered natural language generation tools offer numerous advantages for content creation, from enhanced productivity and consistency to improved personalization and SEO performance. While there are challenges to overcome, the benefits of using NLG tools far outweigh the limitations. As technology continues to evolve, NLG tools will play an increasingly important role in helping businesses create high-quality, engaging content at scale.

2024.05.16 12:15 MuneWalk 31 [M4F] #usa #online anywhere - hopeless romantic nerd seeks forever partner

Hi! My name is Brit. My partner of 6+ years left me about a year ago after deciding that she was a lesbian and since then I've gone through a nice healing process myself and have learned a lot about what I want in a relationship. I have tried all the standard dating apps and haven't had any luck finding a strong pairing or someone interested in pursuing something serious so I figured I'd give things a shot here and cast a wider net. I want a genuine connection with someone who shares similar interests. I want to find a partner I wake up every day filled with passion for!
Some pictures, pretty tattooed individual: https://imgur.com/a/XZpJgap
I think that I am a strong mix of your typical nerd and active lifestyles. I am very passionate about weightlifting, being outside with my dog and yoga. I love anime, gaming and would really like to start cosplaying. Particularly, I am big about cards games like Pokemon and One Piece and my favorite games currently are Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact. I play everything from Animal Crossing to Elden Ring. I would love these interests to be shared on some level! I also am very interested in doing lots of travel and seeing the whole world.
I have a graduate degree in philosophy and religion as well as some certifications as a yoga instructor. I work full-time in the video game industry doing creative work as a systems and narrative designer with credits on a handful of big titles at big studios.
I am a libra. My love languages are gift giving and acts of service! A physical connection and strong sexual chemistry are very important to me but I don't have anything particular I'm looking for. Ideally we'll share some of the active and nerdy interests and are someone who wants to get spoiled. If you want an overly deep conversation about the nature of the universe or want to gush over how good Frieren is, hit the dms and let's get chatting! :)
