2024.05.18 11:48 Safe_You1124 Acrylic ink vs enamel ink

I was wondering what the differences were between acrylic and enamel inks. Can I use them for the same purposes?

2024.05.18 04:45 rottinginbedrn New retainer and I don’t think it fits?

When I got my braces off years ago, I was given a clear retainer. I haven’t taken care of it properly, and its beyond repair. So I went to an orthodontist (I moved so it’s a different one than my original) and they are heavy pushers on the traditional acrylic retainer. They said they were both the same price and told me all the benefits and I agreed to the traditional retainer. First night I was in immense pain could not sleep bc it was putting such pressure on my teeth. Went back in and got it loosened. I told him I still felt pressure but he said if he loosened anymore it wouldn’t hold my teeth well. Ever since, I’ve felt my teeth shifting and some pressure. If I swipe my tongue across my teeth, I can feel my teeth not being completely straight. I do not understand how this retainer is doing this to my teeth if it was made based off a mold of my mouth?? Has anyone else experienced this?? I just want to go back to my Invisalign…Also, I saved my old retainer and am currently wearing it and I feel the pressure back on the tooth that I felt had shifted. I shouldn’t feel pain going from one retainer to the other. I feel so much more confident in my clear retainer than my acrylic bc it’s a literal mold of my teeth holding them in place.

2024.05.18 03:58 14Papa19 Paint for concrete garden decor

We got some old garden decor at an auction and would like to freshen them up. Mushroom with a red top and white dots, a basketball player, and a turtle. Acrylic enamel, or oil based enamel? Spray clear over all? I could be persuaded to post before and after pictures

Hi, I’m newer to selling my art and I’m trying to figure out how to reasonably price my art so it’ll sell while also not pricing it too low. I would like some input/thoughts on how to price my work.
For example: I have a 36 x 48 inch acrylic painting (shown above). It took about a month to paint working around my current work schedule. For the few pieces I have sold I’ve charged $1 per square inch and added shipping cost on top of that amount.

I purchased and received this around a week ago. $89.99 on Amazon. I made a quick non-scripted youtube vid I will link below that will discuss a few things and show you some gameplay examples, but here are my thoughts in text for your preference.
-device has a nice size and weight for lap play that reminds me of using a Madcatz TE1. Similar in shape to the TES that didn't have side panels. Metal panels on the bottom and beneath the acryllic top give it some weight for stability.
-24mm buttons with just one 30mm jump/up button give it a Hitbox feel. Keeps my hands from needing to spread as much in comparison to recent flatboxes using all 30mm.
-stock generic/in-house buttons are similar in feel to Sanwa, but a bit more mushy due to less sensitivity and a slight further actuation distance. I also notice a bit of squeaky noise when pressed near the edges instead of near the center. Aside from that, the buttons function fine. I added a couple minutes of gameplay demo in my vid to show consistency in my inputs, and I use leverless maybe 20% of the time compared to lever. So if my execution is consistent on this device, then it should be for anyone else's too, imo. Clone buttons never last as long as sanwa, but should be good for a while and just swap when that time comes. No need to rush out and swap buttons on Day 1 unless it's for preference.
-SOCD changes are simple. All are documented in the manual. I do one swap in vid as an example.
-for PS5, I was able to get it working with both the Brook Wingman FGC converter and the Magicboots ps4 adapter. It did not work with a tethered wired 1st party ps5 pad. For Xbox Series X, I was able to use a tethered wired 1st party Series X controller. I did not have other Xbox adapters to test. I did not experience any timeouts, nor did I need to do any updates on the Mayflash (not surprising since it's newly launched).
-the extra L3 and R3 buttons are in favorable positions for easy access. Personally, I am not typically a button-binder using a dozen attack buttons, but I do show in the video how I found myself using them for training mode purposes and drills.
-overall, I liked the F500 Flat a lot. For anyone that was looking for a Haute42-priced equivalent of a larger Hitbox-style device, the F500 Flat is 100% that product. I have seen the Mayflash rep on this sub mentioning future products like an F700 Flat and I am wondering if they would do an F500 Flat Elite, but I think this current product is advantaged in that it is a low price point and you can choose whether or not to mod. No point in buying an Elite for sanwa buttons, only to then mod again because you decide you want different colors. May as well buy the basic to save up front and customize later.

2024.05.17 15:15 secret-spice-girl how much would you pay for this?

how much would you pay for this?
hey y’all, i took off my acrylics for a month or two after two years to see how my nails were doing (spoiler alert, not great lol)
i went to the same place i used to go to today to get them redone and my regular lady was busy so i had someone else doing my nails and i told her like 7 times to please be careful because she was drilling my skin and when i went to wash my hands, i noticed i was literally bleeding??
normally i would’ve said something but i had a terrible day at work and was already holding back tears so i just let her finish and i’m not mad with how they turned out but would you have paid full price for this??
(to clarify, i did pay full price 😂 just want to know if someone braver than me would’ve said something)

2024.05.17 14:48 pankajSharma86 Acrylic Laminate: The Modern Solution for Interior Designers

Acrylic laminate has emerged as a preferred material for interior designers seeking to create stunning, contemporary spaces. With its high-gloss finish and versatile applications, acrylic laminate offers both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits. This article aims to provide interior designers with a comprehensive understanding of acrylic laminate, showcasing its potential to transform various interior environments.

Understanding Acrylic Laminate

Acrylic laminate is a decorative surfacing material characterized by a glossy, mirror-like finish. It is made by applying a thin layer of acrylic to a substrate, typically medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or particleboard. This process results in a durable and vibrant surface that stands out for its clarity and brightness. Unlike other laminates, acrylic laminate is known for its premium quality and exceptional visual appeal.

Aesthetic Appeal

One of the primary reasons for the growing popularity of acrylic laminate is its stunning aesthetic. Available in a wide array of colors and finishes, from bold solids to subtle metallics, acrylic laminate allows designers to achieve a variety of looks. Its high-gloss surface reflects light, creating a spacious and luxurious ambiance in any room. Customization options are extensive, enabling designers to incorporate unique patterns and textures. Real-world examples include high-end kitchen designs, sleek office spaces, and modern living areas where acrylic laminate plays a pivotal role in enhancing visual appeal.

Functional Benefits

Acrylic laminate is not just about looks; it offers several practical benefits that make it a smart choice for interior applications. It is highly durable and resistant to scratches, making it suitable for high-traffic areas and homes with children or pets. The laminate is easy to clean, requiring only a damp cloth to maintain its pristine appearance. Additionally, it is UV resistant, ensuring that the colors remain vibrant and do not fade over time. Its moisture resistance makes it ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, where exposure to water and humidity is common.

Application in Interior Design

The versatility of acrylic laminate makes it an excellent choice for a variety of interior design applications. In kitchens, it is often used for cabinetry, providing a sleek and hygienic surface that is easy to maintain. Bathrooms benefit from its moisture-resistant properties and modern look. Living rooms and offices can utilize acrylic laminate for furniture pieces, wall panels, and decorative elements, creating a cohesive and sophisticated design. Combining acrylic laminate with other materials such as wood or metal can result in innovative and contemporary designs that stand out.

Environmental and Health Considerations

Today’s consumers are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact and health safety of the materials used in their homes. Acrylic laminate is manufactured using eco-friendly processes that minimize harmful emissions. It is non-toxic and safe for indoor environments, making it a suitable choice for homes with children and individuals with allergies. Many acrylic laminate products come with sustainability certifications, attesting to their low environmental footprint and responsible manufacturing practices.

Cost and Value Proposition

While the initial investment in acrylic laminate may be higher compared to other materials, its long-term benefits and durability offer excellent value for money. When compared to high-gloss paint or real glass, acrylic laminate provides a high-end look at a more affordable price. Its durability and ease of maintenance translate into lower long-term costs, as it requires minimal upkeep and rarely needs replacement. Budget-friendly options are available, ensuring that designers can find solutions that fit within their project budgets without compromising on quality or aesthetics.

Tips for Interior Designers

When selecting acrylic laminate for a project, it’s important to consider factors such as color scheme, finish, and the specific application area. For example, darker shades may be better suited for low-traffic areas to minimize the appearance of fingerprints, while lighter shades can enhance the brightness of a room. Professional installation is recommended to ensure seamless results and avoid potential damage. Regular maintenance involves simple cleaning techniques to preserve the laminate’s glossy finish. Collaborating with reputable manufacturers and suppliers can provide custom solutions tailored to specific project needs.

Case Studies and Testimonials

Real-life case studies and testimonials can provide valuable insights into the practical applications and benefits of acrylic laminate. For instance, a modern kitchen renovation using acrylic laminate for cabinetry and countertops can showcase the material’s impact on both aesthetics and functionality. Testimonials from satisfied clients and interior designers highlight the transformative power of acrylic laminate, emphasizing its ease of use, durability, and stunning appearance. Before-and-after visuals can vividly illustrate the dramatic improvements achieved through the use of acrylic laminate.

Conclusion

Acrylic laminate offers a unique combination of aesthetic brilliance and functional benefits, making it an ideal choice for interior designers. Its wide range of applications, from kitchens to living rooms, underscores its versatility and value. As the demand for stylish, durable, and eco-friendly materials grows, acrylic laminate provides a solution that meets these needs while delivering exceptional design outcomes. Embrace the potential of acrylic laminate in your upcoming projects and experience the difference it can make in creating stunning, modern spaces.

2024.05.17 08:13 yugoslavfarken Does no sanding primer actually work over enamel?

As title states, I have some acrylic primer that claims it can adhere to enamel surfaces without sanding. Does this stuff actually work?
I've read I can also use a green scourer to scuff up the surface instead of sanding.

2024.05.17 05:56 Vegetable-Street Bathroom disaster

This is a long post, so I apologize. I have a situation and I’m really not sure what the best route to go is. I’m overwhelmed and stressed, and that’s putting it mildly. I’ll start with a little backstory.
We bought our home almost 7 years ago. It was built almost 8 years ago and the previous owners (young couple with a newborn and toddler) lived here for 7-9 months before the husbands job moved the across the country.
The home has 3 bathrooms - 1 upstairs with showetub combo, 1 upstairs with shower, and 1 downstairs with shower.
This Monday I took a bath. After the bath we heard a dripping noise downstairs but couldn’t find it. The next morning (Tuesday) we woke up to 3 small water spots on the kitchen ceiling. I immediately called and found a wonderful plumber who was here within an hour.
Long story short (or as short as I can) he had to cut into the drywall in the ceiling and then in a wall upstairs. Initially it was thought to be a leaking pipe. However, it turns out that my bathtub cracked. The plumber pointed out multiple areas on the tub that had been damaged, patched, and I guess painted/glazed over. At one point a few years ago I was cleaning the tub and some of the finish came off revealing a brighter white spot underneath. I thought I had damaged it with cleaner somehow, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case after all. From what we can tell, one of those patched spots weakened and cracked around it causing it to leak into the ceiling.
Thankfully we caught it quickly and very little damage was done, but now I need a new bathtub and walls around the tub, and of course drywall work in 2 rooms. To add to this disaster I have guests coming from out of state in 3 weeks, that cannot be changed/cancelled at this point. A few of those guests are staying at our home, but we are having a get together with about 20 people total. The timing could not be better. /s
We spent the day looking at tub/wall options and now I am kind of frustrated and feeling overwhelmed. None of the options are my ideal solution (nice tub with beautiful tiled walls), but that’s ok. These are our options:
  1. A nice tub (American standard I believe) with a “utile system” wall kit. It’s not subway tile, but it looks and feels like it. It doesn’t look or feel cheap. It bolts to the wall studs. The tub is available within days, but the wall kit won’t be here until around 5/29 which creates a very tight timeline that may mean it’s not fixed before guests arrive. This option is in the middle cost wise. I still need to check with the plumber and see if this timeline is pushing it too much.
The benefits of this option are that it looks nice and professional. I would save a little money compared to option 2. The downside is the timeline. It might be done in time, but if there is any type of a delay, I will have guests checking a hole in my kitchen ceiling.
  1. A nice kohler tub with a wall system by Swanstone. It is a nicer faux tile look system. This would be in carrera marble patterned solid sheets that look like subway tile. The tub can be delivered Monday and the walls within a week. This is the most expensive option (about $500 more than option 1). It is also the nicest tub and most professional and expensive looking option. The timeline is pretty safe though.
The benefits to this option are that it looks the best. It has the nicest bathtub. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty, and I likely won’t have to do anything to this showetub for years to come. It can also be done within the desired timeline (probably around the 2 week mark or slightly less). The downside is the price.
  1. I can buy the nice kohler tub and have it delivered, and then go to Lowe’s and buy a cheaper ($700) Allen & Roth brand fake tile wall kit that is in stock locally. This option is the cheapest at about $1000-1500 less than the other options, maybe more). However, this wall kit is obviously fake tile. It looks better than the standard $200 acrylic wall kits, but it certainly does not look expensive or anything like real tile or stone.
The benefits to this option is that it can be done very quickly, in fact I would probably have use of my bathroom back in a week, and I would save money. The downsides - the look of it, and I would assume it’s not as durable and will need to be redone in a few years.
I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with these wall kits and what that experience was like. I’d also log advice on what you would do in my situation, and any additional suggestions on options. Thank you for reading through this and thank you for the advice.
