2024.05.17 00:12 FitAndHappyCompany I might be biased, but this is the shortest and most effective weight loss guide you will find on the internet.

Here is a brief outline on how to loose weight in a way that is sustainable, gets you long term results, and doesn’t make you miserable.
Before starting, here’s a few things to consider.
1) It doesn’t matter if you’re fit for 5 years, and unfit for 50. Weight management is a lifelong skill, you don’t just loose weight and that’s it, you want to manipulate your body to make you feel good over your short and miserable life ;) (I’m joking)
2) Weight loss is not complicated, in order to loose weight, you have to consume less calories then you burn.
3) Weight loss is not the hardest thing in the world. With a few tips that I will outline at the end of this post, it will make it 10 times easier to stick to a diet (yes this sounds crazy, but just listen)
Ok, so how do you loose weight? Here it goes…
There are two ways. The first one being the counting of calories way, and the second is more of an educated guessing game. I’ll talk about both, as the process is a bit different, with the latter being the inferior way (generally speaking, it’s not as easy on the motivation front, and might require more discipline)
Calorie counting way:
1) Go to google and look for a calorie calculator, enter your details and you will get a number. This calculator is not 100% accurate, but gives you a ballpark number.
2) Figure out how fast you want to loose weight. If you have been trying to loose weight for a while, but gain it all back, then consider loosing weight slowly (at a 300 calorie deficit) if not then it is up to you, you can start at a more aggressive diet (500 calorie deficit) for the first week, and if you feel like it’s draining on you, then eat at maintenance for a few days (3-7 days) and start dieting slowly again at a 300 calorie deficit.
Generally speaking: 300 calorie deficit = 0.3-0.5kg loss per week 500 calorie deficit = 0.5-0.7kg loss per week
It really depends on your body
Here is the juicy part that makes weight loss much easier, tips and tricks!
1) Eat a lot more protein. Protein helps you retain muscle whilst loosing weight, even if you don’t exercise. A good number to aim for is 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight. Less if your trying to gain weight (for my body builders reading this)
2) Eat foods that are satiating, Foods have different satiety levels, 200 calories of chicken will make you feel a heck of lot fuller then 400 calories of m&ms. Eat lean cuts of meat, white fish, egg whites, complex carbs, fruites, and veggies to make you feel full. Also opt for calorie friendly options of popular foods and drinks such as sodas, ketchup, ice cream, etc.
If you don’t believe me, try eating 1,000 calories of home cooked chicken without oil or sauces, and boiled potato. And then try eating 1,000 calories in McDonald’s. Your gonna feel like you just ate at a buffet after the chicken and potato, and your gonna crave more food and feel hungry after the McDonald’s.
3) Exercise, don’t do it. Let me explain, if you do intense cardio, you’re gonna be feeling a lot more tired, and wanting/craving food, your most likely better of siting on the couch all day and saying no to the 200 calorie snickers bar that you would have burned off doing 30 min of cardio.
Here’s what you do, you either don’t do it at all and try to get 10k steps per day, or you do something that you enjoy. This can be body building, calisthenics, or any sport that doesn’t feel like a chore. Playing football for an 1 hour is a lot easier then running on the treadmill for 30 minutes.
4) Leave space for snacks, eating 2,000 calories of ice cream vs 2,000 calories of salad will have the same result on your weight. Eliminating snacks will make you crave them, and eventually you will give in and binge. Leave a portion of your calories for a snack of your choice every day (I’d recommend 300 calories, but I love my snacks so I do a bit more)
5) Don’t take your day to day scale number personally, one day you could loose fat, but appear heavier on the scale because your body decided to retain more water that day. If you notice that on average the scale shows less on a weekly basis, you’re on the right track.
Non calorie counting way:
1) Eat at places that count calories for you, and take note of how much you ate. Eat at subway, chipotle, or other places that count calories. (Always ask for more protein, and go easy on the fats and carbs)
2) If you can’t, then when eating out, avoid sugary drinks, desserts, sauces, and tell whoever is taking your order to cook without oil or butter. Eat un-processed foods that are satiating such as steak with roasted potato’s.
3) You have to learn intuitive eating, avoid processed foods that make you crave more, stick to high quality food that make you feel satiated, and eat slowly. When you start feeling full, put the fork down and wait for 5 minutes. If you’re still hungry then continue eating slowly, if not then that’s it.
This was a pretty short guide, but I hope it has helped some of you.
If you have any questions, post them on this subreddit. I will reply to every question!

2024.05.17 00:10 Academic-Customer284 Why did he use me??

I feel like I’m going crazy!! Did I do something wrong? Why me?
Feel crazy! I am not horrible am I??
I was friends with this dude and all through my friendship with him, he constantly lied about everything, talked crap about his friends, spat and peed in public when I told him it was gross and made me uncomfortable, always rubbed in the fact he had more friends than me apparently, constantly forced me to go places or try to because he wanted to go when I told him I can’t because I’m broke or because I’m a veggie and I can’t eat meat, made comments about insecurity’s I have, constantly made me go with him to places but then would ditch me for others he sees who he didn’t even know and and forgets I exist to later come back to me at the end of the night, walked a million miles ahead of me and in dangerous situations with creeps, constantly left me on delivered for months on end and come back like it was nothing after blanking and ignoring me, I even confronted him about this and he denied it and said I was avoiding him and made up a whole situation about how I was avoiding him and told him to get lost. I had enough after the last outing I had with him and blocked him. Then he gets like 5 people to ask me to unblock him and I did because I didn’t think he would bother me and I could air him. Then he started saying I had something to tell him and I was like so confused, he started telling me I was jealous because he was talking to others and that’s why I blocked him. He then called me and told me he thinks I’m jealous because he was talking to others and I’m in love with him. I said wtf, we just mates and how I blocked him because he spat right by me which was disgusting and he claimed he didn’t care less, how I didn’t care less who he spoke to but it’s horrible to be left alone in a event we have gone too when I dunno anyone and I’m in a middle of nowhere, how I was sick of him just using me when he fancied a night out and told him to go with someone else. Then he started saying but night outs are fun for me and no one else will come with me, so why can’t I use you because all my friends are broke or busy. Then he told me that I should be grateful that he spends time with me in a horrible tone of voice over the phone. Denied ditching me and told me I’m just a jealous control freak who’s in love with him and think we are together so now I’m trying to control him like he’s my own. He kept screaming at me to say I had a nice time with him and I am jealous because I fancy him.I’ve never said anything, I’ve told him I was just sick of being ditched, told him many of times we are just mates and I know nothing is going on with us. Then he started saying I think we are together and I want him, which I was like what? Then he said nothing and try to change the subject! Then I told him I had enough and sick of him just using me and I don’t trust him either because he talks crap constantly about his friends. He told me to give him an example and I did and he completely denied it or knowing that person. Then he was like fine, we shouldn’t speak again and called me crazy and hung up the phone and blocked me! I feel like I’m going insane!!!! Everything I said he twists, he doesn’t listen to anything I say, he constantly believes everyone is in love with him and even admitted to using me and expects me to still wanna bother with him. It’s just killed my self esteem, made me feel like I’m worthless or something! Like if I looked better, was better personality or something, he won’t be so awful to me! What made him not wanna actually be friends with me?? And just use me?? I mean he has other girl mates ( non romantic) and he cares about them more and doesn’t just use them!!

2024.05.16 21:57 Adventurous-Bet9747 [36/M] England - Meeting people on reddit? What's the worst that can happen?

Hello!
I'm here because I've had success with forming a meaningful friendship from this subreddit before- and while it didn't work out in the long run, it's shown me that it is absolutely possible to find that spark here.
In an effort to not waste your time nor mine, I'm not here seeking a casual chat- I want to get to know someone beyond just a few exchanges. I'm here for a genuine connection and conversation.
So, why message me? Good question! I'm rather shy, and modest- so trying to talk myself up is honestly really difficult. Instead, here are some random things about me and if any of it interests you, strikes a chord, or makes you smile, then I probably can, too!
  • I live in the south of England but I have lived around Europe previously. I lived for around a year in Lithuania and about 6 months in Austria, and further time living in Scotland
  • I have a degree in chemistry and a further Master's in Drug Design and Biomedical science
  • I currently work as an analytical chemist, which sounds more interesting than it actually is with me spending most of my time in a windowless lab testing random chemicals
  • I've always been a voracious reader. Bookstores make my heart happy. I'll read anything with a good plot. I am currently reading a lot of books on history, but I will pick up whatever random fiction book looks interesting, which tends to be random depressing books!
  • I will happily eat anything that is highly spicy!
  • I have travelled quite a bit over the last couple of years with trips to Denmark, Spain, Germany (twice), Austria and Czechia! I am also into photography, mainly architecture and I have put some of the better ones here!
  • Empire is the best Star War
  • Last Crusade is the best Indiana Jones.
So what now? Introduce yourself, share a photo to I can put a face to the words, tell me 5 random things about you, or 5 things on your bucket list, or the first 5 things you'd do if you won the lotto- or anything at all you'd like to share. Have animals? Show me pics!
Lastly, I know it's hard to take the time to write a thoughtful message on the chance that it may go unanswered. I'm not here for a lot of messages- I'm here for just one, and I know the kind of message that I'm hoping to receive. I don't want to waste anyone's time, so if I don't reply then know that I'm rooting for you to find the person you're hoping for, too!

2024.05.16 21:37 Kirin1212San Can post nasal drip lead to or cause an infection? And do allergists easily prescribe antibiotics?

I’ve been having issues with the area under my jaw being swollen for a couple of weeks. No pain in the beginning, just varying degrees of discomfort. At its worst it felt like someone was always lightly choking me/applying pressure to the area. And the swelling sometimes felt like it went up to my ears.
I did see my allergies for it and was told it’s post nasal drip and I should use the Neilmed sinus rinse more than once a day and to gargle with salt water. And also take more allergy medication since I was only take one Allegra a day.
Swelling and discomfort didn’t improve so the allergist has prescribed me prednisone.
There were times where it was hard to swallow and hard to pass food down, but that was only for a couple of days.
The swelling always gets worse when I eat, but my allergist says I shouldn’t be having an allergic reaction to food since I only has OAS and the anti histamines and prednisone would prevent any food related reaction. Then refered me to a gastroenterologist for possible EoE.
Long story short, I did see a gastroenterologist and it’s not a gastro issue.
It’s been a couple of weeks and I’m now tapering down on the prednisone.
As I’m tapering down I’m starting to feel more like how I felt before I started taking the prednisone. So I’m sort of regressing.
Now I’m starting to think I have an infection. More specifically a salivary gland infection. Which is why I’m swelling even more almost immediately after starting to eat.
New symptoms which started 2 days ago include dull head pressure/ headache and also a sore throat.
I did have a sinus infection and concretion in the cheek area last year and it took going to see my doctor and then an ENT and a CT scan for them to give me antibiotics.
I’m seeing my allergist in a couple of days for a follow up appointment and hoping they can diagnose and prescribe me antibiotics if I am correct.
However my experience last year leads me to believe it might not be so easy. I really think going to an ENT again is overkill so I would like to avoid that.
Basically how easily does an allergist prescribe antibiotics?

2024.05.16 20:02 Opposite-Ant-4403 No matter how hard I try to learn math, nothing is working and I just cant figure out things by myself, i just search it.

Basically I've been practicing my time tables the most basic ones everyday, I even made my own song and yet somehow I don't retain any of it. I can't remember my sixes no matter how hard I try. I can't remember any time table apart from twos, fives, tens and I hate that my brain wont just retain information I mean even simple 3 times tables go over my head, I have to use my fingers to count. I can't do division at all, I can do addition but only on paper same with subtraction. I can sort of do time. I can't do measurements, I can't do money, I can't do algebra, I cant do fractions or percentages or decimals.
Just then I was enrolling into my college course, theres no math in it however you have to do a numeracy test regardless, and I didn't want my teacher to think I was stupid so I just cheated my whole way through every single math question even the most simple ones. I feel ashamed by doing this, but genuinely I couldn't understand any of them, the way they are worded confuses me, the ones about fractions and stuff and measurements went over my head. The only one I managed to do by myself was the mean, mode, median question because thats the one thing that school actually taught me sicne they never taught me any other math. I feel horrible. I was getting a bad headache during the test, just comprehending numbers hurts, the test was also timed which didn't help. I really didn't want to just google all the answers or use a calculator the whole way through it but I don't think I would have ever figured out those questions. I hate my brain. I have to google basic measurement videos like I didn't even know 1000 grams equaled 1kg, I was never taught that. I didn't even know the little lines in between kg scales represented grams... I don't know anything, and the test just further showed me that I know not even elementary school math. Like when people say they don't know math to a school, the teacher will think the person means general and advanced math, but when I say it, I mean elementary school math and higher. I just wish there was some way to retain it, and just count without using my fingers or drawing it out on paper.

2024.05.16 18:20 JustDescription1631 AITA for telling my ex of 4 years to move on?

I (19m) have been with my ex, (19F) since we were in secondary school together, and recently have fallen out of love with her. We’ve always had trouble together, our small fights, little break ups and get togethers, but ever since I finished college a year ago, have I truly began to see how I really feel about her…. The moment I finished, I began losing friends, I lost family and have fallen into depression (I’ve been taking my medication and attending therapy) and saw her differently.
I initially pushed the feeling aside and kept acting as normal, but I only ever felt love toward her after we had moments alone… It got so bad I never responded to her, I never messaged, I always was angry until after we had done something. Eventually I broke up with her and left for a weekend with my friend, I’ll call him Tyler, (20m) whilst away, my ex decided to do the deed with her university friend, continuing to use my family and friends into guilting me, saying she loves and misses me…
Alone and with nobody helping me, I went back to her and explained my depression, my feelings only being physical… Despite my words we got close and I felt ashamed and dirty after, unable to look at myself for doing it, and broke up a few days afterward, much to everyone’s anger…
My ex, still desperately trying to get me to come back to her, kept using my family to guilt me which had a toll on my further health, feeling more alone than ever. Breaking down and smashing things, I cried and cried with nobody understanding me and my views…
Now desperate for my family, and the torment to end, I went back again and felt peace, but also a feeling of anger and manipulation as she looks at me with a crazed sense of love, despite my many protests of only physical attraction… Further broken, I met a woman, I’ll call her Kali (22f) and immediately felt an attraction I hadn’t for a long time..
I messed up, and had done… Well, I’m sure you can guess with Kali, and felt guilt and shame for doing it to my ex, and as such, broke up immediately, revealing the truth and wishing her the best… She’s since told me “If I want to give her another shot, she’s a call away” but I don’t trust she or her family will stay away.
I’m now at an impasse, deciding whether to pursue a relationship with Kali, or to focus on myself and my relationships with friends and family..
So tell me, am I the asshole?

2024.05.16 17:57 Choice-Chemical7809 Was I at fault?

So last year I (23) met this guy (31) at work. At first I wasn’t interested at all nor was I attracted to him (even though he is a very good looking guy) (FYI I would consider myself as very attractive. Since I get a lot of attention and compliments from guys). He chased me at the beginning and I showed no interest at all. But he kept talking to me. One day he asked me for social media (I thought nothing of it) and started texting me. He often told me that I’m beautiful etc. (FYI he is kind of shy even thought he is good looking) He also told me that he asked for my social media, because he was afraid he would never see me again (since he is quitting that job to start a bigger job). So now he is working at his job and I’m still working in that old job. He texted me lesser and lesser but still liked every single of my story. One day I asked him out since I thought he was too shy/nervous to ask me out. He agreed and texted how excited he was to see me. On that day we were to meet up, but he texted me in the morning that he didn’t feel well. I was like okay maybe he really got sick. He also apologised but mind you he didn’t reschedule. So I was kinda pissed. It’s been over 3 month and he still likes my stories. A few month ago, I decided to text him asking how he is doing. He starts flirting and I assume he is still interested. I give him hints to ask me out. He kind of does but when I recommend a date when I have time (it was in that same week we texted) he ignores the message. He then texts me 3 days later that he is struggling with life and works too much. Which I totally understand, but why does he lead me on then (he asked me when I have time that week, then says that he can’t meet). So I text him that why does he flirt when he knows exactly that it won’t work out and gives me false hope. He didn’t respond and I’ve been ghosted for now 2 month. He still likes every single of my story.
  1. Why won’t he meet up with me?
  2. Is it because he is struggling with life?
  3. And if so, does he want me to wait?

2024.05.16 17:05 TimmyTurnersDad6 Hi, my name is *truck drives by* but everyone just calls me dad.

Note please don't call me dad.
But yes! Hello it's my first time on reddit! A little-lot about me:
  1. I first used reddit as of posting this about 2-ish weeks ago but I've shadowed Reddit for much longer. I never wanted to make an account due to shyness, confusing rules, and the dreaded censorship that seems to plague every platform. (Plz don't ban me reddit, I beg.) However due to my introvertedness taking over more and more, now seemed like a good a time as any!
  2. Yep! The name comes from a Nickelodeon cartoon, and if I have to explain from: ¹ how dare you. ² we can't be friends!
  3. I browsed over hundreds of subreddits, always thinking if I ever did join - where would I start? I had ideas of where, but not-so-much when...And given said strict rules, I always thought I had a knit and knack for sentence structure, spelling and grammar as I've been complimented on my penmanship and organization skills...yet, reddit I'm sure will truly test me on that. I've been out of an English class for many, many years now. So forgive me in advance I'll try my best!
  4. Speaking of many, many years - I'm not so young and not so old either! It's a mystery. And as per reddit guidelines to not share sensitive information - I suppose I will keep it that way. You'll just have to think of me as an enigmatic mr. magoo-like shape; formless in the hands of it's users, but an organized cut figure in staunch of his allies. Think of Inspector gadget except more mysterious. (And who trips on his own shoelaces.) So...basically Timmy's dad!
  5. I'm a gamer, hobbiest writer and photographer, and a perspective teacher (in my former years) and I plan on adding a bit of each into their respective subreddit categories in some form of time. I write amateur poetry from time to time, stemming from natural & creative to erotic prose gasp! and when I feel like it - short stories. I tend to also gravitate towards shapeable wordless songs and giving them my own spin (like ost's), as well as coming up with songs lyrics of my own. I went to a magnet school in my younger years for all of the above forms of writing as well as screenwriting and playwriting. All of this is fun to me and that's the extent of it. Nothing more. If you stumble upon any of my former pieces searching for an answer as to why I wrote some of the things I said, or why I said them...it comes down to just whatever floats into my peripheral vision in that given moment; sometimes it's music that inspires me, and othertimes it's just what needs to be said. And hey, sometimes I'm blindsided by my blindspots. And other, other, some times I stop using the word "time" so often! Grrr!
  6. As for games, I'm a replayer of not-so-old games that are not so timeless, but not-so new anymore eiGarrett! This is mainly due to financial tightness and that older games charm I can't forget. Games such as:
(There are others, but these are some games I hold dear that come off the top of my head.)
I've found games sometimes help shape and induce flow-like states to help us ease into transitions of moment-to-moment actions defining our playable characters, some. Or in other cases, defining ourselves most when we need to caught between a rock and a hard place...like in a gunfight...(I'm looking you Apex Legends, Uncharted, and Destiny.) But yes, in those instances - I've found that what help shape me along with some of the game's life-lessons taught to our characters, did indeed help shape me into the person I am today. (Inb4 someone says I identify as Harumo-chan the master of hoe-jitsu), lol no I'm saying the best parts about our characters can help shape us sometimes without us even knowing it. (But Harumo-chan did help shape me Timmy, why can't you see that?) More power to you then. The best parts for some and the worser parts for others i suppose. :P
6½. What i mean to the last point is, part of my strength I've found is from when I draw strength from other strong characters I've seen and what they've been through; (or put you through and thus you're going through the sh*t-show together.) Characters that have really inspired me are probably namely Sora, Riku & Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Sonic, and Yusei from Yugioh 5d's. I know, very adult of me right? Mm, I am interested however where others draw their strength from? Which form of medium do they choose, why did they choose it and who do they draw strength from if not in a show or game?
I could talk about why I choose these individual characters but I believe that's best suited for another thread/post. P.s. as for tv shows though? A huge inspiration i draw from is Rick, from the walking dead. I don't watch many new shows anymore. (As for why that is, maybe that's also best suited for another post.)
  1. Speaking of shows - I don't really have time to watch anime all that much but some influential ones I've grown to be very fond of are:
There are others, and I've seen all series of Yugioh and DragonBall alike, but these in particular stood out to me. For DragonBall Super mostly due to the absolute insanity the tournament of power was and that last fight. I've seen other animes or stopped, started and stopped again as I couldn't get invested into them. That's why Golden Time really took me by surprise. Same with Yugioh 5d's and S1 of Sword Art Online. I am interested to see what other subreddits with differing views on what sorts of animes other people prefer or recommend I watch.
Same with games, music or movies.
To wrap up,
Tldr; you can call me Timmy (Timmm-aH!) For short, or even shorter than short - dad, just don't get weird with it, (unless?...no I'm joking, unless?...) and I'm here like anyone else to peruse reddit on useful or entertaining things!
Anything else I'll either edit this big jumbo post or add on later!
Sincerely,
Dad.

2024.05.16 16:40 whoreforjesuschrist_ I got told I was being involuntarily hospitalized by my therapist.. but I found out that’s not legal?

Does anyone have anything similar they have gone through? I work 2 jobs, about 6-7 days a week just depending on scheduling. One is an office job at a finance firm, the other serving and bartending. I have anorexia. I’ve been in decline for awhile, but I have no external family support, and I cannot afford taking leaves of absence at this time without risking complete financial ruin. There is no family to help me. My therapist last Friday called me to her office in person (first time meeting ever face to face) and told me I had 7 days to check into an inpatient facility, or she would be involuntarily hospitalizing me, citing mental and physical issues. Obviously I’m depressed and anxious, but I’m not suicidal. I’m not in immediate danger. I’m not even UW. I have had some stomach issues and recent emergency room trips, but those were unrelated to my ED, but definitely not made any better by my ED. These are the “physical issues” she is citing. Come to find out after fighting for my life these last 5 days to not have to go on a leave, I find out through other providers AND the eating disorder IOP program I am in right now in my state, you cannot involuntarily hospitalize an adult for an eating disorder. I’m spinning in circles. I feel like my therapist lied to me to make it seem like I had to do what she said or else. This was her way of almost “tricking” me into treatment on “my own volition.” I couldn’t even look her in the eyes last session. I get she was doing what she thought was best, but what she did and implied to me was NOT LEGAL. I feel extremely uncomfortable and I have lost all trust with her. I don’t want to therapy hop, it’s exhausting to start all the way over again with someone new. And I really liked her up to this point. I never had any complaints ever. I’m just very lost and hurt. Has anyone - or any therapists out here, have anything they can give me advice on? Much appreciated :)

2024.05.16 16:00 NondualTool Reaching out to old friends

So around 2.5 years ago I went down a roughly 3-month manic spiral and alienated pretty much most of my closest friends—people I’d known since hs for 15+ years.
In November I tried reaching out to one of my friends as I was visiting his state at the time. He never responded, so considering I might have been blocked, a mutual friend reached out for me. Apparently, he wasn’t ready to reconnect yet… 2 years after the incident.
As many of you can unfortunately relate, I said some super messed up things to the people I considered my closest friends, so I get their position. But at the same time, I resent them for not understanding that I wasn’t well. I was completely out of character during that time. I just feel like if any of them had been in my situation, I would have forgiven them. Probably easier for me to say since I was the one that messed up, but I genuinely believe I could forgive them and move on if they acknowledged what they did was wrong and showed genuine remorse.
To be fair, I haven’t reached out to the rest of them so I can’t really speak to where they stand with me, but I feel like a bad person even considering reaching out.
So is it worth the effort reaching out? Can anyone share similar experiences? How did things turn out after reaching back out?

2024.05.16 15:54 tz9bkf1 Is there anything I can do right now?

So, I (m25) started talking to this girl (f22) in February and the vibe was really great. Because we were both busy with exams we waited until the middle of March for the first date but texted almost daily (it was mostly voice notes) and had a phone call in the evening for like an hour. The date itself was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the attraction was mutual. She also wanted to say like good morning and good night texts, but I was a bit hesitant to follow along because I felt it was a bit too early and I also told her so. Later on, I followed along more, and she did as well. We continued to have 2 following dates in the next 2 weeks, and everything went great. Had our first kiss on the third date. After that she continued to text a lot until like a week after it became less and less.
She was busy again for 4 weeks for the other half of exams, but I was complete chill. She still sends a good night voice message late in the evening where she said how busy she was and that she has some mental breakdowns because she thinks she’s not going to make it. On the other hand, she still had time to go for a walk with some friends but when I said I’d come over for a 30min walk she declined and said I didn’t have to come over just for that. We still had phone calls. She still complimented my insta pictures, liked my stories and so on. Then after the last exam was over, we had a phone call again. Not that long this time where she told me about her plans for the week. She had something planned for every single day of the week. So, I asked her when we’re going to meet then. She said that she already asked that herself and said maybe during the week in the morning or on Sunday but an old male friend from uni wanted to meet her as well a few weeks ago and she told him she’d get back to him after the exams are over which would be now. We agreed on Monday next week. During the week I only heard from her twice. In one voice note she told me that she needs time for herself because there was so much going on lately.
On Sunday, I texted her about what time we’d meet on Monday. Later that evening she texted a very long paragraph where she stated that she realized she can’t do the whole thing justice now and she thought it would get better after the exams, but she realized she still needs time for herself because she kind of neglected herself. She still thinks I’m super nice and always enjoyed the time spend with me and felt very comfortable. She also felt bad because she had so little time during the exam phase and concluded that she won’t have that more time or head space right now either. But she doesn’t want to be unfair and it’s not about me but about her and her feeling that she needs to take time for herself and that she’s really sorry and been thinking about this the last few days. I actually responded that it’s okay, I think it’s a pity but I’m going to respect her choice of course and she can text me when she’s feeling better and we can see what the situation is like then to which she responded that it’s very kind and understanding of me and she’ll happily get back in touch to see where we both stand.

So that was 2,5 weeks ago and I haven’t heard from her since. Basically, how do I continue? Thank you for your help and reading

2024.05.16 15:46 Hoonyigan86 So my 14 week lab was amazing in his crate no matter what. But recently he’s only good in the crate at night or just when my wife is home.

So my wife works from home and our lab is good in his crate all day. With reinforced naps. But when I come home from work I’ll take him out and we play burn some energy. Then when it’s time for a reinforced nap he is just not having it if he can see me. But if just my wife is here he falls asleep like nothing. Any tips on how to get past this? We’ve tried even going back to day one crate training, doesn’t seem to help much. But at night time he sleeps like an angel when he’s in the bedroom in his crate. I don’t understand lol.

2024.05.16 14:58 WaterBaby226 Rewiring the brain

So I’ve experienced quite a handful of traumatic events in my life. I have experienced night terrors for 3 years, become really socially isolated, emotional detachment, unwanted thoughts, you name it.. lately I’ve realized my ability to speak is a little off. I speak extremely slow and have a hard time relaying information in a way that’s clear and concise. I don’t really know how else to describe it. Sometimes when I am talking I can tell people are zoning out because of how long it’s taking me to tell a story or I miss details. I have not always been like this and it’s probably one of the most upsetting parts about this for me. It has definitely played a part in the social isolation. Is there any way I can help combat this..? It makes me feel stupid and my self esteem has plummeted because of it. I don’t know what to do.

2024.05.16 13:42 Equivalent_Visit_447 Please help me support my girlfriend's mental health

First time poster, please give me any advice you can as I really don't know what to do.
I have been with my girlfriend for 6 years and I love her to bits. The problem is that her mental health issues are becoming more severe and more frequent. She suffers with anxiety and ADHD (undiagnosed but has all the classic symptoms), and it is getting to the point where it is really affecting her personal and professional life. At work she really struggles with criticism, and quite often is convinced that people do not like her, and are treating her badly because they don't like her. She has worked at 5 different companies since I have known her, at each she has had a problem with her manager, or the wider management team. Often she spends a lot of time analysing their motives and actions, convinced that flaws in their character (arrogance, misogyny, poor communication, general bad management etc) are the root cause of her being unhappy at work. Two of her last three job changes have been directly to get away from her manager. She also really struggles with the kind of office environment BS that most people face (others not doing what they should, people claiming credit, office politics etc), taking this things far too personally in my opinion.
This all leads not only to her feeling down and anxious, but also chronically tired and lethargic, brain fog and difficulty communicating. I have tried to be as supportive as I can, listening, trying to understand, offering love and support and advice where I can. However it all seems to be getting worse, and I don't know what to do. Every work day is an ordeal for her. I regularly message her through the day to see how she is doing, and talk to her about it every evening. It's always negative, it's always a bad day, someone has always treated her badly. I sympathise, empathise let her know how much I love her and that I'll do anything to help, but I don't think that anything I do is actually helping.
Counseling didn't really help her, although I have suggested trying again. Doctors just prescribe anti-depressants, which just seem to numb her without any real benefits.
I am quite different from her, which I worry is preventing me helping her, or even perhaps making her worse. I'm generally confident, not too bothered whether people like me in a work setting and the kind of person that just gets on with it. This can make it hard to relate to her problems at times, as she sometimes reaches conclusions which make little sense to me. For example if someone doesn't complete something I need from them, I would think "they are a poor employee", whereas she would think "they deliberately didn't do this because they don't like me or want me to look bad". I do try to be very sensitive in these situations, but it can be difficult. I don't say this to her, but at times it feels she's creating her own problems.
Obviously all this impacts our relationship, but I'm not going to go into that. I know if I can help her and make her happy(er) then I will also be happy.
If anyone has any advice please share. I don't know what more to do and am scared I'm making her worse. Thanks

Before your appointment, make sure to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to check-in and fill out any paperwork. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and refrain from wearing jewelry, as you'll be asked to remove it.
Once you are in the treatment room, you may be asked to undress depending on the type of treatment. Your therapist will provide you with a robe and leave the room to give you privacy.
To get the most out of your spa experience, be sure to speak up if you have any discomfort. Whether it's the pressure of the massage, the temperature of the room, or anything else, your therapist will be more than happy to accommodate.
Additionally, take your time and really savor the moment. Enjoy the relaxation and let go of any worries or stress.
