New Music Friday: May 11 - 18

2024.05.17 13:18 IamEseph New Music Friday: May 11 - 18

Here's everything I caught this week. If you landed on something that isn't listed; please post and let us know! Stuff tends to trickle in during the day, so if you see this early: check back in to see what else has been added.
If you're looking to see everything that's come out this year I keep playlists for albums and EPs regularly updated. And if you want the full scope of the year's releases check out u/gotsubverted ‘s yearly Spotify release playlist. A lot of what I find comes from them, and that playlist serves as my baseline for anything listed below as “Previously Missed” (either they've added it during the week, or it's something I landed on that isn't already on there).
And if you think I've got a style wrong, if there's a bad link, or if you know where a band is from and I don't have it listed; please let me know!

2024.05.17 09:14 NulloftheAbyss Characters that I deeply respect.

Characters that I deeply respect.
Endou Mamoru/Mark Evans: Endou has a highly admirable spirit and sense of resolve, down from the first episode of the anime up until his latest appearances, he never gives up no matter what the challenge ahead of him awaits, always motivating those around him and being a strong voice of support and motivation. Whenever you're down, doubting yourself, feeling as if you don't have this, Endou will be right there to pull you back up on your feet. He has strong charisma, everyone he's ever met has been influenced by this soccer freak one way or another, he has faith and belief in everyone, he wants the best out of everyone. Endou holds a spirit that I wish to have, he's the type of person I'd like to have around in my life, somebody that I wish I could be or even just meet one day.
Gouenji Shuuya/Axel Blaze: At one point when I was still fresh to this series, I sometimes would try to be 'different', I remember that I saw people saying this guy was overrated and all, I ended up finding myself trying to shy away from popular opinion and told myself he was ok, despite me always liking the guy. But, fortunately, I've grown out of this because Gouenji is incredible. Yes, he's a cool character and is an awesome player, but he's also an incredible brother. The moment you see his backstory and his reasoning for quitting soccer, you know right off the bat he'd do anything for Yuuka/Julia. He was going about it the wrong way, but he stopped playing soccer because he cared and loved her, what had happened to her due to him playing it traumatized him and he didn't want this to happen again. Then he later on realizes that she wouldn't want this, her becoming one of his main motivations to keep on playing. Gouenji then even stops when seeing that her life was in danger during S2, but he arises back stronger than even later on and his efforts were rewarded with her being in safe hands. Gouenji is a cool character and player, but he's just as good as a big brother as he is those.
Kidou Yuuto/Jude Sharp: Another character who's an amazing big brother. His whole life he spent it protecting Haruna/Celia and wanting to be there for her. From fighting off bullies to being motivated to win consecutively when they were separated just so they could be reunited. He cares so deeply for his sister and did a lot for her, the guy even plays the LITERAL DEVIL in Season 3 when she's kidnapped just so she wouldn't be used as a sacrifice, he lead a team to play ACTUAL DEMONS because he wasn't going to let them do anything horrible to his sister. That is an incredible sense of familial love and bond, you mess with his sister, you mess with the Genius Playmaker.
Tsunami Jousuke/Hurley Kane: He's a big brother of many without being of blood relation. I've always loved this character, from his design, to his thematics in hissatsu, interactions and even how he joined the team in S2, but one of his strongest traits to me is how much of a big brother he is to Tachimukai/Darren. Tsunami has such a lovable and fun personality, he's somebody that I'd really love to be around in real life, as well as a person I'd like to be in my life as well. Caring for others, always just being himself, fun to be around while having such a free yet kind spirit, never worrying about much, all things I want to be. And his interactions with Tachimukai is one of my favorites in the series, from S2 to S3 he's always had his back, always motivating him and helping him out, giving him his shoulder to lean on and helping him keep confident, Tsunami Jousuke is a role model.
Tsurugi Yuuichi/Vladimir Blade: My last character of the brotherly trope I seem to have going on. Yuuichi was a character I was fond of in GO1, even though he was there primarily to show what Kyousuke's motives were, I liked him on his own as a character. When he confronted his younger brother about how he was working off the Fifth Sector, angry at him for betraying the soccer they loved and making him humble himself, it was one of my favorite moments in GO1. Chrono Stone later on made me love the character more, even if it wasn't the Yuuichi we had previously saw. Not only did we get to see the guy play with the others AND pull out a Keshin (Along with Armed), he went out in a touching way. Yuuichi knew he was going to fade out of existence from this, but given that this was a timeline where his injures didn't happen, him and his brother had the opportunity to go play soccer abroad until their father says he could only afford it for one of them, making Kyousuke 'give up' soccer for his sake. Yuuichi wanted to give soccer back to Kyousuke, even if it meant that he no longer would exist, he met his end smiling, being happy as long as it meant that his brother kicked a ball again.
Kakuma Keita/Chester Horse Jr: Kakuma is such an icon, the reason for why he's here is quite simple, his undying passion. No matter where Raimon went, who they played or what their situation was (Excluding the second half of the FF), he was ALWAYS there to commentate their matches and was their hype man. Kakuma is quite literally gives off ride or die energy to me and I love it, he commentated their matches when they were fighting off aliens, followed them around when they travelled around different regions of Japan. Hell, he was even there for matches for Inazuma Japan that happened within school grounds which were the selection match and Inazuma Japan vs Neo Japan. Even during graduation he did one last commentation. He wasn't a player, but Kakuma was part of the team and will always be a member in my eyes.
Tachimukai Yuuki/Darren LaChance: My third (Yes, my third, he isn't my first believe it or not, lol) favorite character in the entire franchise, a character who I always had a soft spot for and see great potential in. I respect and love Tachimukai because of his journey as a goalkeeper and a person. Going from this fan of the legendary Endou who mimicked what he did to becoming his own man and stepping out of his shadow, unveiling his own unique hissatsu with the help of friends who wanted to see the best out of HIS ability. Tachimukai has had moments where his confidence in himself was weakening, something I can identify with as I lose my confidence countless of times and can get overwhelmed when things don't go too good. But, no matter how many times he's been knocked down, he has people to help him get up and his resolve further strengthens. His growth in S2 was beautiful to me, becoming one of the strongest keepers in the season and being as good as his idol, while he didn't do much in S3, he stepped out of Endou's shadow, being hit the realization that he can't keep doing what he sees his inspiration do and has to go his own path eventually.
Fidio Aldena/Paolo Bianchi: The number one of all characters for me in Inazuma Eleven. Fidio, for me, had one of the best arcs in the franchise, I've said it numerous times but Inazuma Japan vs Orpheus is my favorite match of all time and is where I really began to favor Fidio due to it and the Mr. K arc in general. Seeing him grow interested in the man's hatred for soccer despite being so good at it, then after Nakata gave him the answer as to why, even though this was the same man who directly tried to sabotage his team prior, he trusted his commands and became motivated to complete Catenaccio Counter. This caused distrust from his own team and they wouldn't even listen to him during their match, but his resolve was enough to not only get them to gain their trust back, but to also revive the hissatsu tactic, bringing back Kageyama Tougo's plays from the ashes. He made Kageyama see the light with his resolve and trust in him, even getting his team to completely trust him and had Nakata call him a reliable leader. Fidio even had a cool rivalry with Kidou and even had similarities to him, both played soccer due to it reminding them of their fathers and even played similarly to the point that Kidou was needed to counter Catenaccio Counter. I respect Fidio similarly to why I respect Endou, his great influence and resolve that can change people, even those who are in the lowest of the darkness.
Amemiya Taiyou/Sol Daystar: Unfortunately, this character nowadays is treated like a joke due to his handling in Chrono Stone, while I do feel that it was lackluster compared to other characters, it does not take away from having incredible of a character he was in GO1, some of my reasoning for respect will even apply to CS as well. Taiyou had an illness that refrained him from playing soccer how he wanted, despite being said to be a genius that comes every decade, he was practically bounded away from the field. But, Taiyou never let that stop him, no matter what everyone around him told him, no matter how much they tried to get him to give up on his dream, he still wanted to play soccer and would keep motivated to make that happen. Not only did he have an amazing match with Raimon thanks to his resolve, but he continued to play to save soccer in Chrono Stone. Even in Orion, a younger him helped Nosaka/Heath not lose hope in being able to play soccer despite being told that he couldn't due to his brain surgery, being in a similar situation to him, he rekindled the resolve back into him. Taiyou is admirable because he refused to give up on his dream and desires despite having a limitation, I really love that about him.
Matatagi Hayato/Falco Flashman: Lastly, we got our speedy falcon, Matatagi. This one may be a bit of a surprise compared to the others given what I said about them, but he's just relatable to me. Matatagi had a bad time trusting people due to how others treated him as a kid, the others kids not being interested for who he was and only what he had, then he took the blame for indirect trouble that his younger brothers caused, making people lose trust in him in return. While my trust issues aren't as strong as his, I don't have much trust in many people as well, I'm wary of others out there because that's just how this world is and I've had times in my life where I was betrayed or regretted trusting somebody. Matatagi never opened up to anybody on the team, not even considering them his teammates and was hiding his true self from them all, another aspect of him I can relate to because I keep a lot of myself concealed in real life most of the time, most of it is due to shyness and lack of socialness, but also thanks to me not always feeling like I can be who I am around people. Matatagi had such a nice character arc, Tenma/Arion bringing out the real Matatagi and showing genuine desire to befriend the real him was touching, it also made me like Tenma more as a character in turn. Seeing him now just being who he is without trying to satisfy everyone is something that I just want to do one day, consistently.

Hey all, I'm looking to downsize my collection, so I can upsize it with the new hotness. Prices are negotiable. Would prefer a trade on the RAT and Corgi just because the cost of shipping would really eat into the cost of the knife. I like button and crossbar locks, just make sure it's capable of ambi-carry. If you have any questions or trades in mind let me know. Thanks for your time and interest!
Collective Time Stamp
(I just saw that the collective timestamp had the 6400 of my user name covered, but each knife has it's own timestamp as well)

2024.05.17 06:32 ilovewacha3 Search by words in video names doesn't return results

Every video I upload contains one of the following words in its name (not caption), but when I search using the words, nothing shows in the results. This also happens with other words (esp. sex related words) not included in the following list. Anyone know why?
I uploaded videos with those words to Google photos, most of them are the same videos, but I also used 4 different videos with different names to test if Google Photos ignores duplicate videos with different names.
I also varied names slightly, such as "xvideos", "x-vid", "vidx", "vid-x", "xv"; only "vid-x" worked partially.

Questions from the comments:

why is plushie Pat's head huge? Jumbo Pat plushie needs a jumbo Pat head!
What was life like before the Bloons? What happened during the first Bloon invasion? Was the cave monkey part of it? A peaceful world with no battles, the monkeys quickly adapted and figured out how to thrive while also keeping the Bloons at bay. There may have been a couple of cave monkeys around at that time!
Is DJ Benjamin’ interested on doing remixes of Bloons songs that haven’t been given the remix treatment yet? It is definitely on his list! Once he finds time between all the bookings for parties, events and fighting the Bloons he will give it a Jamm!
Time to turn the tables. What burning question does the monkey heroes have for us?
https://preview.redd.it/mjqb40lm6w0d1.png?width=414&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb13aa00ee5adeb14ccb566d5f29e8c5e6b1c0d3
I really just want some kind of clue on the ps4/5 release.. We are still working through the submission process, with fixes still required to make sure all features work correctly across both PS4 and PS5. The process is slow, and we so appreciate your patience, as it may be another month or more before PlayStation is released. The good news is that we have been able to make progress on a content patch for both Xbox and PlayStation, which we hope to release as soon as possible after PlayStation launch.
Why don’t the monkeys experience the radiation from the Energizer? Thankfully the engineers and scientists have created an eco-safe effect from the Energizer! Deadly to Bloons only!
Does Ezili ever try to sneak a peek at Corvus' spellbook? She never tries to sneak a peek, she politely asks! Corvus is happy to show off his incantations to a fellow practitioner if the book lets him!
Is the jetpack hero gonna be like the ace monkey or different? She’s been training completely differently! It is a whole different style of piloting when the engine is strapped to your back!
Do Monkey Bank Accounts exist? Of course! Gotta keep that monkey money somewhere!
Which one of the heroes drops the deepest quotes? Brickell said something about 20,000 leagues under the sea one time! Does that count? :P
Is the Pat Plush big enough to hug a Plush MOAB? He could definitely give it a good squeeze!
Do the monkeys prefer being commanded by a certain hero or do they have no preference? They love all the different styles and strategies the heroes bring to the table, keeps it fresh!
does Pat love painting, and does he have a job? Pat is an expert turkey hand painter! While fighting the Bloons is his primary job he loves to help out and volunteer whenever he can!
How do monkeys react to seeing the regrow camo fortified red, the most terrifying bloon of all time? Monkeys be shooketh!
how do the glue gunners fell when someone just starts drawing with them, and how do the other monkeys on the battlefield fell then? They are happy to be included! If the other monkeys need some inspiration in the form of a Glue Monkey flash mob, then that is what they will do!

2024.05.17 03:34 444degrees [H]Iron Warriors Army (Huge, Pro-painted), CSM, Exiting Hobby [W] $$$, Non-Warhammer Trades [Loc] Midwest USA

I am leaving the hobby and moving, so I am selling my entire collection of Iron Warriors as well as other miscellaneous chaos models.
Selling total Iron Warriors army as a whole, I am not splitting this lot. I have spent countless hours building and meticulously painting this army over multiple years and want it to go to someone who will appreciate it rather than a dealer to be parted out. I have put the NOS value next to each item for reference only.

I would value this army at at least $2500 because the paint/basing job is well done and there are many custom models. However, I would consider selling it for considerably less if it goes to a collector who will appreciate all the hard work that has went into this army. Send me a reasonable offer, I may be open to trades for non-Warhammer items, open to hearing things. This is crossposted on multiple platforms.
I will give the painting and basing recipe to the buyer. Painted with all Citadel paints and sealed with Mr. Super Clear matte finish.
All models and are authentic GW and/or Forge World excluding a single Chosen model that has a 3D printed torso and legs.

2024.05.17 02:54 alphariusomega123 Explaining false comic book outliers (long post)

Explaining false comic book outliers (long post)
In all fiction there are situations in which writers deliberately change the level of power that a character normally displayed, either for the benefit of the story, due to different interpretations of said character's power, or simply due to plot demands. We call these moments outliers, and they are considered invalid when used in a vs. These moments exist, and they need to be acknowledged to make a coherent assessment of a character's power.
The problem is that with the popularization of the term in recent years, it has been used in an increasingly indiscriminate way; almost always against comic book characters to accuse them of always being inconsistent, with clearly malicious intentions to nerf and make said characters lose in comparisons against characters from other fictions.
This misuse of the term has especially affected Marvel, although DC and Vertigo are also a frequent target of this malpractice. This usually consists of establishing a fixed and immutable level for the comic character in question and classifying as outlier (and therefore invalid) any feat shown by the character above said level, without giving further explanations. Of course, this way of using the term is totally incorrect and leads us to the question...
HOW TO RECOGNIZE A TRUE OUTLIER?:
For a feat to be considered a true outlier, it must simultaneously meet these 3 requirements:
  1. The jump (or descent) in power is considerable: We cannot consider it an outlier that a character who has proven to destroy planets destroys a star. An outlier is always an extreme case that completely falls outside the scales shown by the character.
  2. There is no explanation for it: We can only consider as outlier something for which the writer has not provided any justification for such a jump or descent in power; If the writer took the trouble to tell us why this happens, we cannot consider it outlier.
  3. It is a unique moment: Outliers are always situations that occur exceptionally and are rarely repeated. If a feat considered an outlier is repeated twice, it is very possible that it is not an outlier. If it is repeated 3 times, it is extremely unlikely that it is an outlier and we will have to look for another explanation.
COMIC SCENES CONSIDERED OUTLIERS WHICH ARE NOT IN FACT:
Now that we have made clear the correct way to define an outlier, we are going to explain various scenes from Marvel and DC comics usually taken out of context by people who did not read the comics where they took place, and which are usually used as weapons against them. (either to accuse them of being inconsistent or to try to degrade their characters).
SPIDER-MAN BLITZES HULK:
This happened in Spider-Man (1990) #26...except it never really happened. In this scene, Peter is talking to Mary Jane about how her spider sense works and uses the emerald giant as an example of her great reflexes, but at no point is he alluding to actual combat or anything that happened previously. The scan was cropped for convenience and spread over the internet without its original context.
https://imgur.com/a/OSmUNGD
https://imgur.com/a/FzZr7GQ
A similar situation seemed to occur in Peter Parker: Spider-Man #14, but we soon discovered that the Hulk was letting himself get beat up upon hearing that Peter believed his wife was dead.
https://imgur.com/a/hTBpda1
https://imgur.com/a/vkIHzhk
BATMAN KICKS THE SPECTER:
This occurred in Tales of the Unexpected #4. As we can see in the next scene, Batman himself is surprised that he was able to kick the Spectre, as he did not believe that he could achieve such a feat. To which the Specter himself clarifies immediately afterwards that he allowed Batman to hit him because he thought it would make Batman feel better, and that Crispus Allen, his houseguest, is restricting him too much. This is not surprising, since Crispus himself said moments before that he was not going to allow the Specter to kill the criminal he was trying to take down.
https://imgur.com/a/6WXiwZC
https://imgur.com/a/YgKRftv
BLACK PANTHER TRAPS AND STRUGGLES WITH THE SILVER SURFER:
This occurred in Fantastic Four #545. Black Panther was able to catch the Surfer not with his own speed, but by using his own board (which as we all know is extremely fast), using it to reach the Surfer and make a prey on him. Once the hold was applied, Black Panther counted on Silver Surfer's immensely superior strength to be of no use against his grip and threatened to break his arm. However, all this would turn out to be a bluff by the Silver Surfer, who was pretending to be subdued by Black Panther because he wanted to hear him tell him about his plan.

https://imgur.com/a/JulN1qv
SOLOMON GRUNDY HARMS SUPERMAN:
This occurred in Superman #676. Clarify that Solomon Grundy has very variable intelligence and power depending on his resurrection. This was one of the strongest, capable of defeating Alan Scott. Superman allowed himself to be hit by Grundy at the beginning of the fight with the aim of intimidating him, but discovered that Grundy was stronger than he thought, deciding to change his strategy. Still, Superman was holding back a lot during the course of the battle to not hurt Grundy too much, something typical of the Man of Steel. As irrefutable proof of this, when Superman decided to get halfway serious, he left Grundy on the verge of death with a single blow.

BATMAN ENDURES A BEATING FROM DARKSEID:
This occurred in Superman/Batman #12. Not only is this not an outlier...it wasn't even that way. It is an invention of a certain despicable and disturbing YouTuber mixing several scans taken out of context. Batman gained access to the codes to the fire pits of Apokolips and threatened Darkseid to activate them all at once (which would destroy the planet) if he did not free Supergirl. The "beating" in question consisted of Darkseid delivering three gentle blows to Batman as torture for his personal enjoyment. Sure, soft for Darkseid. Fortunately, Batman obtained the armor of a royal guard from Darkseid, allowing him to withstand the torture of the new god of Apokolips. It wouldn't take long for Darkseid to give in and recognize Batman's cunning.

THOR IS KNOWN BY A HAND GUN:
This occurred in Black Panther (1998) #8. The gun (and its bullet) was Wakandan technology, which as we all know is based on vibranium, one of the few existing magical metals capable of harming Thor. Additionally, Monica was wearing a vibranium exoskeleton that greatly increased her physical capabilities. We are later told that the bullet barely passed through the skin of Thor's forehead, and he momentarily passed out from the impact. once explained it doesn't sound as horrible as it first seemed, right?
https://imgur.com/a/6HjZFsm
https://imgur.com/a/eAPXsUj
https://imgur.com/a/ZEMSvaG
HULK IS INJURED BY GORILLAS:
This occurred in Savage Wolverine #5. I think the fact that those gorillas hit Hulk hard enough to break stone structures says a lot about whether they are normal gorillas. In any case, those gorillas are so strong because from birth they were imbued with Man-Thing's sap and were linked to him, and Man-Thing's strength is comparable to that of the Hulk (at least at his base). . To this we must add that Hulk was in a relatively calm state when he was attacked by the gorillas.
https://imgur.com/a/Vdr3Xez
https://imgur.com/a/KAjRBsJ
SUPERMAN DEFEATS DOMINUS:
This occurred across several issues of Action Comics and Man of Steel, although Dominus' final defeat was in Superman: King of the World. Although Dominus is very powerful, he possesses a great weakness: he is very dependent on his reality warping, to which Superman became too resistant after mastering the mental discipline of Torquasm-Vo. Without his reality-warping abilities, Dominus is forced to rely exclusively on physical combat to fight Superman, where he had the advantage due to his regeneration and the mental exhaustion it takes for Superman to fight extensively while he maintains this state of mind.
https://imgur.com/a/LSnVcC5
https://imgur.com/a/qrYqH8D
WOLVERINE IS FASTER THAN THOR:
This happened in Wolverine vs. Thor #2. Firstly, clarify that Wolverine had been tricked by Loki into believing that Thor was Sabretooth, so Wolverine was attacking with everything, while Thor was very restrained because he was trying to reason with his friend. Many interpret Thor's line "he is faster than I--" as Thor admitting that Wolverine is faster than him ("he is faster than me"). However, the phrase is accompanied by a double "-", which is used to express interruption in a dialogue. Thor was probably going to say "he is faster than I thought / expected." Once Thor got even remotely serious, he had no trouble putting Wolverine out of action. Plus, that comic isn't even canon. It is an exclusive digital comic, which does not belong to the official continuity, as well as a non-canonical complement to the comic Wolverine: Wendigo! #1.

SUPERMAN PRIME TORTURES MR MXYZPTLK:
This occurred in Countdown to Final Crisis #23. I already talked about this in my Prime post, but I will repeat it here. Mxyzptlk was in a deplorable state when he was trapped by Prime, having lost most (or all) of his powers, and this is something he reaffirms on two occasions. It is also stated that Mxyzptlk would have annihilated Prime if he were at the peak of his strength, waiting for Prime to run out of the power gained by the Guardian of the Universe.
https://imgur.com/a/M1nap8a
https://imgur.com/a/4K4LLoO
THE THING KNOCKS GALACTUS:
This occurred in Fantastic Four #243 and is probably one of the most taken out of context scenes in comics history. Immediately after this occurred, we learned that Ben did not knock anyone out, but that Galactus's mind completely shut down before receiving the blow to avoid falling into madness, as Doctor Strange had attacked himself with the powerful Imagery spell. by Ikronn. The most important thing about this is that Galactus was dying and below his absolute minimum, evidenced by his shrinking size and confirmed moments later by Reed.
https://imgur.com/a/MgXYpmq
https://imgur.com/a/gvO6at5
https://imgur.com/a/FoTQ1Jj
BATMAN SHOOTS AND "DEFEATS" DARKSEID:
This occurred in Final Crisis #6. Darkseid was occupying Dan Turpin's body and dying from his wounds from his fight against Orion. For his part, Batman shot Darkseid with the same bullet he had previously used to kill Orion; Said bullet was full of radion, a toxic substance for the new gods. However, Batman only shot Darkseid in the shoulder, thus keeping his oath not to kill. Darkseid on his part was not so compassionate and "murdered" Batman (not really) immediately afterwards.
https://imgur.com/a/U3pSTTW
https://imgur.com/a/McoeriT
https://imgur.com/a/aI6sTQe
THE AVENGERS KILL TWO BEYONDERS:
This occurred in New Avengers (2013) #32. In the same comic we are told that the beyonders the Avengers are fighting were manifestations, solid states that contained their essence. Or in short, avatars. This is supported by the strange robot-like appearance that these two beyonders have, to which many more are later added, despite the fact that at the beginning of that same instance the beyonders are shown to us with their typical appearance. So while the Avengers fought against true beyonders, they did not use their true forms in the fight, and therefore, their powers were much more limited.
https://imgur.com/a/Cg9lPBu
https://imgur.com/a/OWaXq93
https://imgur.com/a/zfLomE3
To further support my points with certain characters it is even explained why they do not use their real power such as:
Hulk:
Contrary to what many believe, Hulk is not an irrational monster who always fights with everything. As with Thor, Hulk is always holding back when he fights in populated areas or with innocents nearby. This is logical, since Hulk is limited by Banner's psyche from harming the planet. Amadeus Cho has come to theorize that Bruce Banner's subconscious restricts his maximum potential by calculating all external variables so that the Hulk can never hurt anyone. So the emerald giant rarely fights at his full capabilities or reaches his highest peaks of fury.
https://imgur.com/a/NkftBXM
https://imgur.com/a/nW32qBK
https://imgur.com/a/U1lcEcI
Thor:
Thor's best feats and/or the level of power that should be attributed to him are often questioned under the excuse that much less powerful opponents tend to hit him, dodge his attacks, resist his blows, etc. "Coincidentally", these fights are always on Earth and against beings much weaker than Thor, while his best feats are almost always off-planet and against cosmic-level adversaries. This is no coincidence: Thor greatly restricts his strength when he fights on Earth for fear of killing his opponents and damaging the planet.
https://imgur.com/a/GwCb7kj
No matter how powerful a mortal is, Thor will always use only a fraction of his power against him, even if it means losing the fight. The fear of murdering his opponents has led Thor to lose on many occasions, even though he could easily defeat them if he really wanted to. So when the writers make Thor look "bad" against mortal opponents and "good" against cosmic threats, they are simply being consistent with what was previously established about the character.
https://imgur.com/a/KZEMGnx
https://imgur.com/a/saKyn70
Superman:
To begin with, we must take into account that Superman always has a strong instinct to restrain himself, with the sole exception of Doomsday; So many of his "weaker" feats can be explained as Superman holding back too much. This impulse is not a simple plot device: in the prelude to "Our Worlds at War" we learned that, due to his fear of killing, Superman has a mental limiter that prevents him from using his full potential in combat.

The limiter is subconscious, not conscious. Superman can't choose when to stop using it.

Only until his training with Mongul II was he able to break said limiter and use his strength to the fullest. Superman himself states that up until that point he had always been holding back and had not had the opportunity to break through his mental barriers. This is especially true on Earth, where Superman never uses his full strength or speed to prevent further damage to the environment, especially in highly populated areas.

Silver surfer:
the Surfer almost always holds back. This is because Norrin is a consummate pacifist who appreciates all forms of life and does not like to resort to violence. Because of this, Norrin holds back a lot of his attacks and often allows herself to be hit, or even refuses to attack at all, for fear of killing his opponents.

The only exception to this is when he is faced with beings that are not actually alive or that he considers aberrations that should not exist, such as the inhabitants of the cancerverse. This is not limited to individual opponents, but also to the environment. Norrin frequently restrains the scale of his attacks to avoid collateral damage and destruction that could affect innocent civilians, especially when he fights on Earth.

CONCLUSIONS:
As we have seen, all these supposed outliers are nothing more than scenes taken from their original context (in many cases by people who read the instances where they happened, other times deliberately) to cause an impact on those who do not read comics and thus discredit Marvel/DC's writing and reaffirm their particular confirmation biases.
That said, I want to make it clear that I am not claiming that the comics do not have inconsistencies or moments that can be considered true outliers. I only ask everyone who is reading this to rethink their positions when deciding what is outlier and what is not, and from now on be more careful when examining the context of each situation. and more so when analyzing a comic character where, as in these cases, people are often intentionally made to believe a reality that is not the case or they even ignore the explanations about the characters when they are also important but you will never see them expose that kind of information because they are clearly nervous that it would mean that their favorite fictional monkey doesn't come out well and they want to give preference to their favorite verse.
Anyway, have a good day/afternoon/night or when you read this, and please read the post and stop taking things out of context or any phrase just because you don't like the truth.

2024.05.17 02:40 hramanna Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points vs Aeromexico MR

Amex currently has a 30% bonus when transferring MR points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. It also has a 20% bonus when transferring MR points to Aeromexico.
I have about 150k Amex points that I want to use towards a honeymoon. Would like to go somewhere warm like Hawaii or Mexico and are flexible with dates. We are based out of Boston if that matters.
Which of the two is the better MR transfer? Or should I wait and transfer to a different partner?
