2024.05.03 02:50 Alexandre_Moonwell They ought to do something about this power creeping we're seeing, especially in Fontaine

From what i understand, the only characters that were called "OP" before Fontaine were pretty varied, Xiao or Hu Tao from Liyue, Raiden Shogun from Inazuma, Al-Haytham from Sumeru, meaning that on average, all the regions seemed to bring characters that were on par which each others. Of course being a Cyno main i would have liked his ability as DPS to be at the same level as his hype, alas. Bust since the start of Fontaine, perhaps they decided it was better for sales to be releasing stronger and stronger characters, maybe because they were afraid of losing their playerbase out of of ennui or to other games, so they opened the gates of unbalance land and brought us, Lyney, Furina, Navia, Neuvillette, which it seemed caught a lot off guard by how powerful he was, but the droplet that made the vase overflow for me was the newest release, Arlecchino. The hype she has had since her first appearance was of course great, and i guess to answer for that, they designed her to be arguably the top hitting character. I feel metaphorically spat upon by MiHoYo, who have failed to live up to expectations more than once (think of Cyno but also a worse case, Zhongli, which was so underwhelming he needed a major rework), clearly stating that they wouldn't concede for hype, and then changing up their mind. She has a longer ult than Cyno, she hits mama mia harder than Cyno, she's more flexible than Cyno, she keeps her buffs and ult state after switching, and the drawback she gets ? She can't be healed ? Oh no, what a terrible thing, verily (sarcasm). I would indeed like my Egyptian twink to have such a treatment, at least having a countdown before losing his ult when switching, but that would put even more bias into the debate than there already is, so i do not value this argument. I'm saying that they need to find real drawbacks to keep the "meta" as tightly close and varied as possible, that is what keeps it healthy. They started really good, so what went wrong ?
Why do i write this here instead of a piece of paper that i'd burn in the chimney a few minutes afterwards ? Peer review of course. Are you happy about the state of characters like Neuvillette or Arlecchino ? Do you find it justified to have stronger and weaker characters (hence the inaction in the case of Dehya for example) ? Do you, as i do, feel disabused by the Fontaine power creep ?
TL;DR : Gnagnagna arlecchino Neuvillette and new characters too OP me not happy for older characters MiHoYo pls buff/nerf >:( do u agre ????

Keeping her store on Earth was supposed to keep her out of trouble, but when a human walks through her wards like they weren't there, Aloe finds herself with a mystery on her hands. Unfortunately for the human, her people love mysteries - and if she doesn't intervene, no one will. With old enemies sniffing around after her new charge, the clock is ticking to find their answers.
Rowen clacked his heels together, looking around the small room as calmly as he could.
He’d been ushered back here just as soon as Eswit could find someone to push him off onto. Any other day, he’d have said the place looked just like any average doctor’s office, just a narrow cubicle with plain white walls and a counter set opposite the bench he sat on. But this wasn’t any other day, and while the memories he could pluck from the haze were fleeting, the sight of it left him uneasy.
And there he waited, counting off the seconds. There wasn’t a clock or anything to look at. He didn’t even know if clocks existed down here. They had to, right? His waiting room just apparently didn’t warrant one. He wrapped his hands tight around each other, twiddling his thumbs. “Come on,” he whispered. “Let’s just get this over so-”
Footsteps cracked down the hallway outside. He jerked upright, lightning shooting through his veins. All of that confidence vanished in a moment.
The doorknob turned, though, and a pair of erelin men stepped through, murmuring to each other. One looked up, seeing Rowen looking back, and said something that…well, it kind of sounded like a greeting, so that was what he’d run with.
“H-Hey,” Rowen said, raising a hand.
The two didn’t acknowledge he’d spoken. The one over by the counter stooped low, digging beneath it for something. A steady stream of ereliit flowed from his lips, quiet and muttered. Rowen couldn’t make out a word.
The man closer to him reached out, grabbing Rowen by the chin.
“H-Hey!” He twisted, trying to pull away.
The man let him go, but stared at him, decidedly unamused. “Hold still,” he said in rough but passable English.
So the bastard could speak the language—he’d just decided not to. Anger welled up to replace Rowen’s confusion. These people were supposed to help him, not treat him like this.
They’re supposed to help you. The thought was enough to center Rowen again, however unhappily. He nodded once, flashing a look toward the man who’d grabbed him, and lifted his chin again.
“Eyes forward,” the man said. He took a rod of wood inlaid with pearl from his pocket, drawing a symbol through the air. Light ignited at its tip.
Rowen kept his gaze level as the man swept the wand closer, burning brighter and brighter until his eyes started to water. It really was just like being at the doctor, wasn’t it?
Except here, the two kept up their conversation unbroken, and they were still speaking their own language, not his. The nervousness in him eased not at all. They were both fully animated, waving their hands, and whatever they’d managed to glean from shining a light in his eyes, they seemed fascinated. The grabby one nodded to himself, starting to scrawl unreadable runes on a sheet of paper.
Rowen jumped as a clank rang through the room. The second man approached from the counter, holding a box of vials under his arm.
Whatever was going on here, it was setting off all his heebie-jeebies at this point. Rowen inched back as far as he could in his seat, fighting the urge to run. Every time one of the men glanced to him, it was like they were looking at…at some sort of bug. Not a person.
And what the hell else are you going to do? He ground his teeth together, balling his hands up against his legs. They needed answers—and Aloe had given him a temporary home, but she wasn’t a scholar. They needed outside help. If it wasn’t from these guys…where would he get it?
He just…He needed to endure. It was his only option.
The man looked down into the box of vials as he walked closer, muttering to himself. He pulled one free, holding it up to the light for a moment, then nodded and held it out toward Rowen. Another string of ereliit followed after.
Rowen took it, looking down at the liquid. It was blue. “Uh,” he managed. “What…What am I-”
“Drink it,” the first man said in heavily accented English, looking up from his notes. “Eh…Please,” he added, a bit flatly.
Drink it? This stuff? Rowen gave it another look. He was pretty sure you weren’t supposed to drink stuff that was that color, and he really wasn’t in the mood for whatever these two were testing.
At his hesitation the note-taking erelin started to scowl, though, his angular face turning even sharper. Rowen’s skin prickled. You don’t have time to hesitate. So he pulled the cork from the vial, giving the stuff one last look before gulping it down like a shot of vodka. As soon as the stuff hit his tongue he started to wish he had a chaser now too. It tasted like soot and char and…blueberries. The combination was not good.
Trying not to grimace too visibly, he put the cork back in, handing the emptied vial to the box-holding man. Both were watching him with rapt attention now, chattering back and forth to each other. He still couldn’t understand a bit of it.
“Was that supposed to do something?” Rowen said. Neither so much as looked his way. He frowned. “Hey. Could you just-”
“You feel…how?” Box-Holder said. His accent was thicker, almost swallowing the words.
So they’d talk to him as long as it got them something. Fantastic. “That tasted like shit,” Rowen said. His patience was reaching its limit, and politeness was coming to an end with it. “But I don’t feel anything. Like Aloe said. No magic. What was supposed to happen?”
Note-Taker leaned back over his pages, scrawling furiously as his companion spoke. When Box-Holder finished talking, Note-Taker nodded, saying something in response.
A sigh rippled from Rowen’s chest. “Great,” he mumbled. “This is going to be great.” This town was pretty big, right? It had a heartgate and everything. There had to be someone in the damn place who’d sell him an Ereliit-English primer. Maybe he’d ask Aloe about it when he got home, and-
Home? Something inside him rebelled at that. This wasn’t his home. His home was out there, with-
His thoughts were interrupted as Box-Holder turned back toward him, holding a second vial out. This one was clear. “Drink,” he said.
Rowen took the vial, scowling. “What, no please this time?” he mumbled, fiddling with the cork. He downed the new dose. “This one doesn’t taste like anything,” he said as he lowered the little glass bottle. His brow furrowed. “Was it supposed to-”
The world spun around him. The vial dropped from his senseless fingers, clattering against the tile floor. He followed it to the ground moments later.
And the two scholars erupted into excited conversation. Note-Taker’s pen flew across the sheet of paper.
Well, that got them going, Rowen thought to himself. His vision was going blurry around the edges, the stone cold against his cheek. Fear surged through him as the grey spread, but there was nothing he could do to hold it back.
As the two turned back to him, their voices fading into the ringing that filled his ears, Rowen blacked out.

“Come on, roll over,” Aloe murmured, tapping the zurmot with the end of her brush.
The thick-furred little critter only shimmied in place, its paddle-tail thumping happily. It made no move to roll over to let her get at its belly—and even missing one of its enormous sets of hook-like claws, Aloe knew from harsh experience that the creature could cling straight to the floorboards if she tried to make it do something it didn’t want.
She groaned instead, setting the brush down, and started scritching behind the bony ridges of its ear-holes. “Can’t you just cooperate for once?”
A hastily-muffled snort split the quiet alongside her. Aloe glanced up. One of the customers standing at the shelves suddenly became passionately interested in picking out her perfect sunbird feather.
Aloe chuckled to herself, giving the creature one last, great pat. That was one thing running a menagerie had going for it—having the animals around meant no one ever got bored. Not her, and definitely not the customers.
Before she could say something to the woman at the feathers, the doorbells clanged. Bright light streamed through the doorway as it opened.
“Welcome!” Aloe called, half-raising herself from the zurmot. “I’ll be-”
She stopped. A smile spread across her face.
The woman inching through the doorway froze, too—then crossed the rest of the way through, a smile stretching across her face. Her eyes were wide-set and ruby-red, her skin black and marked with the bone ridges of her scant kaskalin heritage.
“You are here,” she said, clasping her hands behind her. The door swung shut. “That is you, right, Mistress Miraten?”
“Lissandra,” Aloe said. She was starting to grin. Rising, she crossed to meet the other woman, taking her arms. “I thought you’d’ve moved on for sure. You’re still here?”
“House Dilmat’s still got work to do,” Lissandra said—her dear friend from that distant summer, one of the maids in the Dilmat estate. She smiled shyly up at Aloe, stepping away. “I heard one of the girls say you were here in some shop filled with animals. I didn’t quite believe it, truth be told.”
She glanced to Aloe—and the white-furred shape that peered angrily out from under her hair. “I believe she might have been right, though,” she said, starting to chuckle.
“Oh, it’s me,” Aloe said. She reached up, giving the pollam a good scritch behind the ears. “D’you want to come out and say hi, Rat?”
The creature hissed, burrowing deeper under her scarf.
Lissandra laughed, covering her mouth with one hand. “I don’t think he likes me.”
“Rat doesn’t like anyone,” Aloe said. “Don’t take it personal.”
Her friend’s laughter grew—but as the seconds ticked on, it faded. The other customers bustled by around them, poking in shelves and boxes.
Finally, Lissandra looked up. “What I don’t know is why you’re here,” she said, rather more quietly. “I’m glad to see you, but…you were bound for Windscour, weren’t you? I heard Miraten turned down Eswit’s offer of Davius, and-”
“Yeah,” Aloe mumbled, ducking her head lower. Davius had been a nice enough guy, too—a little younger than her, and a little shy, but sweet and earnest. She’d never found anything more than a friendly companionship with him. Maybe that could’ve been enough.
But Davian was Eswit’s third child, and Kyran was Lord. The math added up to a very clear answer, and Emerald Hills hadn’t been it. They’d never know if that might’ve gone better.
“Windscour…didn’t work out,” Aloe said, lifting her gaze back to Lissandra’s. “I wasn’t going to wait around for Uncle to try and send me back there, so I left. A friend set me up with the shop.” She reached out, rapping her knuckles against the wooden wall of the Dragon. “Mostly I’m up at the surface.”
“Understandable,” Lissandra whispered, a tiny smile on her lips. “Well, I’m quite pleased you made it this far down.”
“Yeah,” Aloe said with a chuckle. The furry little zurmot wriggled at her feet, begging for another scritch. She locked her eyes back on Lissandra instead. “I’m a little impressed word spread so fast, to be honest.”
“Lord Dilmat’s changed the whole schedule around,” Lissandra said. “He’s got a new project, and all he would tell me was that the Lady Miraten brought him a gift.” The corners of her lips quirked up. “I had to look around, naturally.”
Aloe nodded, finally stooping for a moment to give the clawless creature a good scratch across its bony spine. “That makes sense,” she murmured.
“And do I even want to know what you brought him?”
“Oh, please don’t start,” Aloe said with a groan as she stood. “It’s just- a lot, and if I tell you one part you’re going to want me to tell you everything and-”
“I understand,” Lissandra said gently. “Then think no more of it.”
“Rain check,” Aloe said, flashing a wry grin her way. “Just sometime not today.”
“Of course,” Lissandra said. “I’m merely happy you’re well. That’s all.”
The older woman paused, though, brushing her blue-black hair behind her ears. The sharp ridges that lined her facial structure caught the light from the braziers, reflecting dully. “And you enjoy this work?” she said, meeting Aloe’s gaze again. “You’re happy with your life as a…” She glanced to the dens lining the walls, the racks of merchandise. “Merchant?”
“It’s not so bad,” Aloe said. “I like it. The critters and I get along just fine.”
“I did worry about that as well,” Lissandra said. “Shards, Aloisia. One of the Raffeler boys said you had a knurl in here. The stories he told!”
“Oh, that’s Daisy,” Aloe said, gesturing to the counter. A green, sleeping lump was half-visible behind the wooden bar. “They tired her out pretty good, I think. Hell, I’d pay ‘em to do it again.”
Lissandra let out the tiniest squeak, her eyes snapping wide. Her hands rose to cover her mouth. “That’s a-”
“I did say so,” Aloe said.
She watched the maid collect herself, the careful way she smoothed her skirt. Lissandra had been there the whole summer she’d stayed at Emerald Hills, as well as long before and, apparently, after. There weren’t many people allowed in the Lord’s private wings, either, so she’d been on nighttime dream-watch duty too. There were only so many times you could wake up with a raw throat and someone’s terrified face staring back down at you before they either developed an attachment or found a new job. Aloe was pretty used to the second. Liss had surprised her with the first.
Lissandra finally nodded, looking up, but her smile was sad. “As long as you’re sure,” she said. “I don’t know how you manage out there. Our little Aloisia, walking among monsters.”
“Please, Liss,” Aloe said, shaking her head. “You really don’t need to worry about me. I might not be able to Speak anymore, but I still have my magic.” She patted the kalimba that hung from her belt. “I can hypnotize most anything that comes my way, and once they’re softened up, it’s a lot easier to communicate things peaceably with them.” Her lips curled up. “I’m not in the habit of fighting anything, much less a beast that could be an actual threat.”
“That does make me feel better,” Lissandra said, her expression turning relieved. A heartbeat later, her eyes widened, her lips parting. “Oh. I wonder…if…”
When she trailed off, pressing a hand to her mouth again, Aloe shifted from foot to foot. “Is something wrong?”
“Well, you’ve just got me considering some things,” Lissandra murmured. She looked up again, letting her hands fall. “There’s a bit of a trouble in town. A unicorn has started wandering the plains west of Lanioch. It seems to have taken the territory for its own.”
“Oh, dear,” Aloe said. She could already see where this was headed.
Lissandra grimaced. “We believe it’s a stallion, from the way it’s pursued any travelers with equine mounts. And recently, it’s begun protecting its claim from even the Children themselves.”
Aloe’s heart sank. That could be a real danger to anyone in the region—and in a situation where lives were threatened, a town wouldn’t have many options. “Has a bounty been placed?” she said softly.
Sure enough, Lissandra nodded, looking away. “It was posted earlier this week,” she said. “Crown’s orders. I’ve heard there’s a hunting crew that voiced interest in the job, but they’re from Karson’s Reach.”
Her gaze flicked back to Aloe’s, intensifying. “It’ll take them a few days more to even get here. Mistress, it may be too forward, but if you’ve got even a shred left of the magic you had back then, I know you can help. And the magistrate’ll hand the purse over as long as the problem is dealt with, I know she will. It doesn’t need to end in bloodshed.” The energy seeped to slip away, and she drooped. “I don’t want a stain on Lanioch’s fields,” she finished quietly.
Aloe nodded, buying herself time as she parsed through the information. It wasn’t an idle concern—a unicorn’s blood was intensely magical, and so were the Deeproads. It was a nasty combination, and the creatures had all the stubborn spite of their terrestrial siblings. Killing one could earn a clan a lasting curse on the chunk of deeproads they called home.
A unicorn was within her strength to sway, though, and a purse from the crown would go a long way toward easing her money woes. So Aloe nodded, offering Lissandra a smile. “I’d be happy to help however I can.”
Lissandra beamed over at her, clasping Aloe’s hands in her own. “Oh, that’s wonderful. I’ll have to tell-”
The doorbell clanged. She stopped. Both of them glanced over.
At the sight of a trio of dhumir women peeking through the door, Aloe chuckled. No rest for the weary, is there?
“Just a moment,” she murmured, laying a hand on Liss’s arm. Glancing up, she offered the newcomers a smile, crossing the floor toward them.
“Welcome to the Dancing Dragon!”

I have a small level business consulting business with 3 clients. Two of which are great, easy-going, respect my opinions and pay well.
I have a third client who’s a very rich housewife (pays me the least) to do marketing for her insanely niche business.
She’s a relatively mean hearted person, i have seen her put down her cleaning staff, gardener, her husband etc. She has zero technology literacy and has even asked me to leave 1 star reviews from her account on places she doesn’t like to eat at.
When i first met her she drilled me with some of the most intrusive questions I’ve ever heard to verify that i do live in the same area. She asked me my parents names, schools, years of enrolment, proof i was not lying about the full-time office job I have, asked me to search my parents on LinkedIn.
One time i showed up 5 minutes late to one of our 50+ in person meetings (in 6 months) and she told me i look like i just woke up then had a 5 minute moment of telling me how i should fulfil my promises. For reference i would answer to her within minutes 15-16 hours a day
This is just her personality, working with her is a NIGHTMARE. She will tell me, I want this, i deliver. She then goes i spoke to my friend in marketing and they think we should do this. “Can you get it done tonight”, as she changes the entire project at 7:30PM on a Friday.
This goes on SO MANY times. I’ve done EXACTLY what she asks every fucking time and it makes me wanna pull my hair out.
She’ll tell me she will send me some things to edit for example and send it at 6PM asking for 3-4 hours of work to be done then. If i don’t reply to an email within 4-6 hours she will follow up via text or email.
She pays me 23 hourly (including our meeting times in that) and every week is different hours. She is also insanely cheap in the sense that she won’t want to spend any money on things that may help her, then a month later says “my friend recommends we get this service” WHICH IS WHAT I INITIALLY SUGGESTED.
Her pros - she’s connected to some of the richest people I’ve seen. Her network is ALL CEOs, COOs, VPs. She has promised me a referral, which I’m hoping for but i hate doing her work so much. Any advice?

Personal assistant
Each newly awoken guest, then hears a knock ✊ at the door 🚪, at which point they each meet their own personal resort ”assistant“, who explains why they are here, how they got here, and answers all the questions they have, states that they will procure any and needs they may require, throughout the course of the event, and gives them a holo-phone (hologram phone), and says that all they have to do is to speak 🗣️, in their native language, into this device and it will answer any further questions you have: [N1]

Regarding “invitations” it might be wise to only give out exactly 1,000 party invitations? Meaning that 1,610+ will be invited, but only 1,000 are invited to the “main” event party, whereas those left out are allowed to go to the “after-party” or side-parties.

2024.05.03 02:26 SpiderMonkey6l [FO4] Not taking and environmental radiation damage in my current save. Is there anyway to fix this without starting anew?

So for some reason I’m not taking any environmental damage. I can walk naked in the glowing sea and be fine which is starting to ruin my immersion.
I’m not 100% sure what it’s causing it. Could be a vanilla bug, workshop plus’ god mode being weird or some weird setting in survival options/configuration menu which I can’t remove. I tried disabling all of them as well any other mod which isn’t necessary to launch my current game and nothing. I also tried downloading a respecter mod (in case I somehow had the ghoul perk or something) and a radiation increase mod and nothing.
I then tried starting a new character who did take radiation damage normally. So I thought that if I resettled my current character that would work. So I tried show looks menu, reset actor and turning them into a ghoul then back into a human.
I’m out of ideas now and was curious if you guys had any.
Edit: forgot to add that I tried going in and out of workshop mode and power armor as some other posts recommended.

Tentative Emerald Beyond NG+ and Battle Rank Outline, Guide, and Discussion
As many are noticing, Emerald Beyond allows and defaults to a level of NG+ Carry Over that is atypical of the franchise, with features available on the first NG+ that formerly required beating all four campaigns in SSG.
I'm usually not a fan of NG+ in RPGs, and I liked the mechanics that were present in the original Minstrel Song or Scarlet Grace Ambitions. I tend to like early game SaGa with growth and glimmers, and I dislike being pushed towards using same party members. I like it when my party and load outs are rapidly developing. Everybody has their own interests in what makes for a good replay of an RPG, and the SaGa team has accounted for that with relatively granular control over the experience.

The game is using the system save to track the "highest value" you've ever had for character stats, techs, ranks, roles, etc., so you no longer have to worry about making a master save fil. This is a huge improvement that opens up a lot of freedom on a run-by-run basis rather than having to plot out way in advance.
Now that people are finishing their first runs, people are contending with the new NG+ list. A lot of intuition about what to expect from Emerald Beyond in NG+ ends up being wrong due to the elaborate changes to how Battle Rank work. Battle Rank is more granular and dynamic, with some absolutely key differences from how it has worked in the past.
  • Battle Rank increases faster when you performing well. "fewer people falling" is stated, but there may be more.
  • Battle Rank increases faster when you are "more powerful".
  • Your stats can increase more per battle. This is vague, but look at them stat growths in the attached images. A brutal fight late Siugnas, or literally the first Easy fight of a B&F run that carried over BR, has greatly increased growths, including +3 to multiple stats in a single fight.
  • Battle Rank is more gradual (not 1:1 with skill levels as it was in SSG). This means that it may be incrementing in distinct chunks based on performance rather than accruing some hidden meter like it has in previous SaGa games.
  • I strongly suspect that a bunch of limits on how fast or how high it grows are loosened for NG+, or based on how high Battle Rank got in previous runs.
Carry Over for NG+ has many of the same features that we've seen before, but with different recommendations. It recommends carrying over inventory and skill ranks and HP while leaving Battle Rank not carried over. The worry is that this will make your party too powerful and just steamroll things. But if you carry over Battle Rank, you might be in a position where your party is too weak at the start. Isn't that a problem?
The answer to all of this is that most of these nuances just kind of wash out due to new dynamic aspects of Battle Rank. If you're carrying stuff over, you're going to have some combination of "being more powerful" and doing well in battle, so Battle Rank is going to rise faster to match.
The reason why it is recommended to NOT carry over Battle Rank is the major trap of doing Battle Rank but not having the same party members, which could lead to a bricked state. Even with reliable access to easy fights, a new party with good gear might not be able to win any battles against a Battle Rank that has been growing for 40 issues. This is exacerbated by a bug:
Part of the text says you will start stronger when BR carry over is enabled, which you can even see on NG. When a character joins your party, they are scaled up based on BR. It turns out that this ONLY applies to characters that trigger a "Your Retine Has Grown" message. All of the protagonists will NOT trigger the increased starting stats due to a higher Battle Rank, unless you both had them in a previous run and have chosen to carry over stats. So you're supposed to get a running start for your protagonists and core team that does not exist, like Bonnie and Formina may be 100% unable to beat their very first encounter, but if you succeed you will get the cats that have hundreds more HP because they are properly scaling to your previous max BR. B&F will have 100 HP and level 3 skills, while their cats will have hundreds of HP, and maybe 15-20 skill levels.

This and other problems could be alleviated if you could choose which previous Battle Rank to use, but, no, if you carry over BR it will use the highest you had ever reached in a previous campign.
Also new to Emerald Beyond is that the game is meant to be played in NG+. Like, subsequent playthroughs have substantially new content, including plot continuation, and likely different final boss forms and extremely like True Final Boss that is yet to be found. However, we have no idea whether there are any challenges that do not scale with Battle Rank. To date, everything I've seen looks like it will be Battle Rank appropriate.
CONCLUSION:
  • A whole ton of relevant history and campaign/quest progression is stored in the hidden system save file, which you have no access to. Any runs you do are inherently going to be NG+ in ways not yet documented.
  • Dynamic Battle Rank is a suitable replacement for the proper Hard mode that was in SSG. Yes, it does a good job of remaining interesting and challenging, and will make repeat playthroughs extremely satisfying.
  • Always select to carry over Trade and Trial Rank. These are multi-campaign mechanics like stuff scene in SSG or Minstrel Song, and the power boost that they offer is fine.
  • When you bring power-level stuff over, your increased power level and performance is going to make NG+ catch up... eventually.
  • Anything works in terms of power-level carry over. You do you. I like the early/mid-game of SSG and this more than late game, so I go lite.
  • Be careful with Battle Rank carry over. I recommend turning it on only when you are continuing with a protagonist you have already beaten before.
  • Due to the system save and Highest Value stuff, you don't need to worry about building up a super save file. Stuff is going to be there waiting for your next run even if you don't activate it for carry over in this run.
Thoughts on each campaign:
  • Mido: This makes the most sense to do a full carry over, including Battle Rank if you've already cleared a version of his scenario at least once. Souls are also of value to bring over, especially if you are going heavy with the puppets.
  • Diva: This is a full-length campaign that can be pretty hard near the end. She gets mechs, and mechs benefit more inventory carry over and relatively less from the stat/tech carry over.
  • Bonnie and Formina: Her trio of cats joining you as Kaiju-level monsters after your first encounter makes this a lot more realistic to do with Battle Rank carry over, but you may need to luck your way through their First easy encounter (via Formina showstoppers?) and their third encounter (Hard) before it stabilizes.
  • Siugnas: Knight status does not carry over. Becoming a Knight disables the ability to use Custom Techs in that specific playthrough, but the character will have access of them when you continue into NG+ with them.
  • Ameya: Magic can be irritating to relearn, but her party is pretty well balanced. Nobody is quite clear on her meta-structure yet.
The game needs a lot of patches for the UI stuff, but better Battle Rank options would be appreciated, too.

It honestly sucks ass because now a whole new batch of graduates is about to be unleashed into the market and make it more competitive than ever :/ But oh well. It just sucks because I just want to start my career and start working towards something. I have no problem getting interviews and on average maybe get 1 new company interested in me every week, and have also been successful in making it to the second or 3rd round, but why is it so hard to get that offer?

How many polygons the characters have and can it be changed for example by mods?
Great question! So the polycount changes depending on the character, their clothing, their hair, etc. The normal count for a character would be in the 10Ks range but you can add your own mods to increase the count (and, as with all things, it will impact the game's performance depending on how many humans/how high the polycount).
What lifestages will exist at the launch of Early Access?
At the start of Early Access you will have access to Teenagers, Adults, and Seniors-- we plan on rolling out Children/Babies during Early Access, as well as collect your feedback for any other life stages you'd like to see 🙂
Today's building video mentioned that two lots could be placed on top of each other. Would it be possible to create pseudo multi-purpose lots by doing this? Basically layering lots on top of each other with each lot having a different purpose.
You can add lots on top of each other, but, of course, would add that in order for both lots to be accessible you may need to play with the placement a bit. We are still looking into multiple structures per lot, that way a person's house/shed/what-have-you are all together. We don't have a current ETA on that, but it is on our list!
I'd like to know how much will we be able to edit the world? Can we move, remove, add to, or build our own roads? Reshape or extended Land? Recolor the terrain?
Willem is actually going over some basic region editing in the video next week! Roads, paths, and terrain are more complex, so we will likely cover those during Early Access as we work to make the modding process more accessible.
We saw an ATV driving off road... Can other vehicles (cars in particular) also do this in direct control?
Currently cars cannot! However, as we continue to look into Driveways (we've noted the request), we hope to have a solution for folks who want to do this during Early Access 😄
Can we put windows on roofing?
Currently windows are limited to walls, but please do add the suggestion in ⁠requests !
How will restaurants work at the beginning of EA? Is it still sort of a kiosk type setup where your character clicks the register and a menu UI pops up, then the food appears in the inventory or will there be actual wait staff taking food orders and bringing them to the table?
Currently it is a kiosk situation! We have noted feedback on hoping for some more interactivity, and please drop any suggestions in the ⁠requests channel as well! (I know you're good at adding those already, but a reminder never hurts :D)
Can we change display items like the cakes in the display based on what we want to put in there?
We have a few different display items, and the items within are baked into the model. However we are always open to requests on other models you'd like to see!
Can adult characters be parents to other adult characters?

Will schools be fully functional?
Our early concepts of schools had activities similar to jobs for teachers and students-- So our first pass will be something like that! How detailed we make the school gameplay is something we will determine with your feedback during Early Access 🙂
What will residents do on their own without our character interacting? Will they get married, divorced, have kids, get promoted or fired, etc?
Yes! Residents will change jobs, develop relationships, have kids, etc. This is part of the overall town sim we are continuing to develop during Early Access, but much of it will already be in place for June 4th!
Will modders be able to create custom windows, doors, molding trim, and friezes when Early Access comes out?
Great question! Currently these are in a separate pipeline from the other object models, however they are absolutely things we would love to look into. Our intent is to made as many objects as moddable as possible, so if you find that anything is missing once you get your hands on the game, please let us know 😄
We learned that "dying of old age" is the only death for EA launch (with others added later), can you tell us more about how the dying process works? I'm specifically wondering if we can create graveyards and place headstones in them
For sure! So what happens currently is that, upon death, a character turns into an urn. We do have a gravestone (attached for you), which you can mod to add a text bubble to like the plaques have around town 🙂 And, of course, we will continue to add to the death experience during Early Access!

Seaside Haven is our first Early Access world, but it will not be our only Early Access world. 🙂
Is there a hint to when our characters are pregnant or will they have to take a pregnancy test?
Great question! We are still refining the specifics of pregnancy, which will go out with a future family gameplay update. As of right now, it's designed so you decide to have a child with your partner and try for a baby. This is absolutely being designed to leave room for updates though, so excited to continue to grow the feature during Early Access!
What types of architectural styles for build tools, is the team looking forward to adding?
I got a very enthusiastic answer from the engineer who has leading the build mode efforts, Amanda, and I thought you all might appreciate it!
I'm personally looking forward to so much, since I've been having so much fun building on my own!
At the moment we've been getting in samplings of assets (both architectural and decor) for CottageCore, Japandi, Industrial, Victorian/Colonial, and a bit of Mid-Century Modern. The hope with getting some of each is to enable additional creative takes, even if we don't have a complete selection (yet!) for these styles. Almost every new piece I've noticed dropping has inspired me to try to build a house around it.
On the tech side I'm excited about improving support very soon for the flourishes and decorations that make some of the historical styles really fun to build--because we can freely scale any of the dimensions of the house, we need to make sure that things like columns easily scale to match any wall height, and ornate bargeboards that go along eaves need to snap in and match the eave length while still looking great.
And more roof types. Next on my list (not necessarily tied to a particularly architectural style) are a gambrel roof, half-hip, half-mansard. But the list will probably grow as quickly as I reduce the size.

2024.05.03 02:04 fabscarrillo 2024 Coast Guard DEPOT Recap & Breakdown

Sharing a DEPOT recap since there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information on DEPOT and often people commenting on DEPOT who never went to DEPOT. Plus, I figured I’ll pay it forward for those who offered me advice prior to leaving for DEPOT on January 2024. For those curious, I graduated as an E6 / First Class, went through with a bonus, came in as civilian to be a reservist, and happy to provide details on my rate determination package.
To start off, DEPOT is bootcamp. It’s simply an accelerated bootcamp that last three weeks that is comprised of either prior service or civilians who are entering the Coast Guard as active-duty or reservists. Everyone in your class will probably range from late 20’s to early 40’s, unlike the eight-week class which is comprised of mostly teenagers just starting life. Those in your class are coming in years of experiences (e.g., executives at companies looking to be reservists, prior service returning either as active-duty or reservists, or those who are active-duty in another branch and joining the Coast Guard), hence qualifying for DEPOT. My class was a size of 29.
~Week 1~:
You arrive on a Sunday night and that’s when shit gets real. Your CCs will get on the bus yelling at you, telling you to move fast, to sound off, etc. You essentially will get checked in on Sunday, take a shower, and go to bed. Note, the clothes you arrive in are the clothes you sleep in the first night. If you arrive in the winter time, dress in warm clothes, if you arrive in the summer, dress appropriately as well.
~Monday – Tuesday~:
Essentially a lot of admin, from getting your uniforms, going to medical, starting your classes, and everything in between. During this time, CCs will be yelling at you in between all this.
~Wednesday – Thursday~
These days are when you’ll do your PT. On Wednesday you’ll do your swim, followed by Thursday doing your sit-ups, push-ups, and run. For the swim, you’ll go in groups of four, jump off a platform that is probably around ~5ish feet high (the pool is ~14ft deep from recollection), and swim 100m (essentially a lap around the pool). The instructor will ask if anyone is worried, or is a slow swimmer, or simply not super confident. Don’t be afraid to raise your hand. All that will happen is that they’ll group you with others on your level and have the advanced swimmers go together. Your swim will also not be timed, so don’t stress needing to hit a time quota. You just need to do 100m unassisted. After everyone does the 100m, your class will be divided into groups (mine was in two) and you’ll get back in the water and tread for five minutes.
Come Thursday, you’ll be asked to write your information down on a piece paper (e.g., age, name, roster number), pair up with a shipmate, and then switch papers with each other. Your partner will count how many push-ups and sit-ups you do in one minute and write it down on your paper. At the end, the paper is turned in to the instructor. (NOTE: If you hit the number of reps per your age group within the minute, that doesn’t mean you stop – you continue until the minute is over. So pace yourself! If you stop at the rep number for your age group at let’s say 45 seconds and you decide to relax and fully stop, you will be disqualified. There are instructors walking around making sure no one is cheating and following proper form.)
After you do your sit-ups and push-ups, you’ll have a water break, a chance to stretch, and you’ll be taken outside and do your 1.5mi run. It will be six laps around the track, with the faster runners in the front and slower in the back.
~Thursday – Saturday~:
More classes, you’ll meet your company mentors and yeomen, but more importantly, Thursday is the start of “indoc weekend.” This is when your CCs take it up 100 fold and the smoke sessions will begin, from barging into the squad bay at 5:30am and having you do push-ups, leg lifts, bicycle kicks, to smoking you after lunch by having you hold a heavy rope above your head, holding your canteen above your head, holding your piece (plastic riffle) in place for prolong periods of time (and if the CC’s feel like it, holding an actual riffle), and for those who (un)lucky, holding a mattress above your head. This is when they will also do rack inspections and throw your shit on the floor, inspect your bed and make sure you have hospital corners (a pain for those who are not familiar with them), and if not, throw your sheets on the floor. They will be looking for everything single detail to call out and smoke you.
~Week 2~
~Sunday – Monday night:~
“Indoc weekend” continues. Same activities as the week before continue. Note, that the CG smoke sessions are not necessarily meant to tire you up, but they focus on pain points and are psychologically driven. Sure you’ll get tired, but the pain and soreness is what will get to you. Your shoulders will be burning from holding a rope and canteen about your head, your lower back will burning when holding your piece for a prolong period of time and so forth.
~Tuesday – Friday~:
Depending on your CCs, this is when they will debrief and they start talking to you like normal people. In other words, they won’t be yelling at you anymore pretty much. You’ll learn about your CCs’ backstory, why they joined their Coast Guard, a look inside their personal life, etc. Aside from this, you’ll still be taking classes, visiting the computer lab to set up your email accounts, contact your units, etc.
~Saturday~:
Second Saturday flies by as this is when you get your day of liberty. You’ll wake up, attend a few classes, get a chance to visit the Exchange to purchase snacks, be given your phone, and walk over to what only can be described as a sports bar on base to be on your own for about 6-7 hours. You can call your family, go on social media, check emails, etc.
~Week 3~:
~Sunday – Thursday~:
These days may seem a bit slow because your classes are slowing down, you’re having a final uniform check, your CCs are working with you on how to wear your uniform (i.e., you’re trying on your uniform and they’re inspecting you), you have a pizza party with your CCs and company commanders, finalize your orders, attend graduation practice, and just simply prepare for graduation.
~Friday~:
You simply wake up, have breakfast at the galley, get back, pack all your belongings, get in uniform, and graduate. Graduation is from 11am to 12pm. If you have family attending, you can leave with them while in uniform. If you don’t have family with you, you’ll have to change out of uniform and into your civilian clothes and take the shuttle back to the airport with those who didn’t have family attend.
~Few miscellaneous notes~:
· You’ll probably get sick and if you get sick, you’re more than happy to visit the medical doctor for medicine. However, if you’re deemed too sick to continue, you’re given the option to be reverted to an eight-week company or may be sent home. Double edged swords, but it’s up to you.
· Bring enough toiletries for three weeks. You’ll have a chance to visit the Exchange and purchase additional toiletries, but if everyone is purchasing mouthwash, deodorant, toothpaste, etc., supplies will be wiped out at the Exchange.
· The galley will be hell all three weeks. Even if your CC’s debrief, while they may not yell at you at the galley anymore, you’re fair game for the other CC’s up to your very last day. You’ll be expect to not talk, not interact with any companies, and just eat and drink. You’ll be given essentially 15min to consume your breakfast, lunch, and dinner each time you visit. If anything, galley food is not that bad, but plan accordingly that if you’re in indoc weekend, don’t eat heavy knowing you’ll be smoked afterwards.
· It's said that DEPOT doesn’t do watch, but my class did watch in groups of 2-3. So that can be hit or miss depending on your class. Someone in your class will be assigned a watch coordinator who creates a schedule that gets posted each day.
· If you can work under pressure and will be okay to be yelled out, by all means volunteer to be your company yeomen and squad leader. There will be two squad leaders, for men and women, and two yeomens (man and woman). These individuals are responsible for daily muster, checking in your class at the galley, ensuring everyone is in order and reporting any issues (e.g., sickness, injuries, concerns, etc.).
· Showers are from 9pm – 9:15pm, with lights out at 9:30pm. CC’s leave you alone at this time unless your class is acting up. Wake up time is a 5:30am and if your CC has not debriefed yet, expect to them to barge into your squad bay yelling and causing chaos.
· If you’re a guy that has to shave multiple times a day, many will either wake up around 5:15am to wash their face and shave ahead of time, that way many are able to make the time objectives given by your CC’s in the morning (often 10-15min). If you suffer from razor burn, bring a moisturizer or toner to easy any discomfort as you’re meant to shave 3x a day.
· Invest in a digital watch from Amazon to set up an alarm for 5:15am or so, that way you can mentally prepare yourself to the yelling and screaming that will occur at 5:30am. After your CC’s debrief, waking up is not as chaotic and things ease up.
· You’ll get sporadic access to your phone towards the final week of DEPOT to contact your unit, call family that may be attending your graduation, check business emails, etc.
· In terms of cash, while you can bring cash (recruiters say ~$200-$300), you’ll be fine with just your debit/credit card. If anything, notify your bank you’ll be in New Jersey so that your card doesn’t get locked. If anything, bring some spare cash to pay for your company challenge coin and any company sweatshirt and shirt (probably ~$50 if you get one of each).

I'm a diagnostic radiology resident in the US, and I have developed a website to provide free educational and practical tools for radiology trainees and practicing radiologists. It's called Rad At Hand, and currently, it hosts call resources and multiple interactive calculators such as O-RADS (with a report generator), LI-RADS, PI-RADS, CAD-RADS, trauma scoring, etc. I would highly appreciate your feedback! However, RadAtHand and its calculators are not the main focus here. I'm writing this post to ask for your help and advice on another related project called Radiology CaseBank (radiologycasebank.com or radathand.com/radiology-casebank/). For over a year, I've been working on this educational project to provide free and interactive radiology cases for trainees worldwide, aiming to simulate the dynamic environment of real-life scenarios with a PACS station. The platform shows images in DICOM format and has all basic functions of a PACS workstation (window/leveling, panning/zooming, measurements, annotations, and even MPR). During the past few years, I've learned that reading a plethora of cases is crucial for radiology training, and the Radiology CaseBank project aims to address that and enhance trainees’ radiological interpretation skills through practical, engaging, and accessible learning experiences.
Radiology CaseBank has the potential to offer a vast variety of case banks based on various categories such as training level, subspecialty, modality, pathology, etc. Each case is presented with a brief history, including age, sex, and the indication (i.e. reason for exam) mentioned on the exam order. The case display includes all sequences or projections, along with an answer comprising findings and impressions of the radiology report, with direct links to articles about the main diagnosis of the case on reputable sources such as Radiopaedia, RadioGraphics, and RadiologyAssistant. Short explanation video clips may also be added to guide trainees through the exam's findings.
Following is a summary of Radiology CaseBank's features:
  • Active learning: Unlike traditional educational resources such as books and journals, where we usually get a snapshot of the main finding, in real life, we encounter hundreds or even thousands of slices in each cross-sectional exam. And unlike educational videos on platforms like YouTube, Radiology CaseBank users will be actively engaged with the case.
  • Granting access to rare and complex cases that might be challenging to encounter in everyday practice.
  • Keeping trainees updated with the latest cutting-edge technology, ensuring they stay at the forefront of the field, regardless of whether their training institutions have access to such technology (e.g., Photon counting CT, Dual-energy CT, 7-Tesla MRI, etc.).
  • Radiology CaseBank can also feature quizzes, which educators and institutions can use to evaluate their trainees (e.g. their readiness for independent calls).
  • Each case bank has an "Author," and credits for the provided cases can go to the providers (unless they prefer to remain anonymous). Of course, the cases should be properly anonymized, as patient privacy is the number one priority.
  • I am committed to keeping this educational tool accessible and open to all, and 100% free for trainees. My passion for providing this tool for free to every radiology trainee worldwide is the main driving reason behind this project.

He always wants more, more, more when you say NoNoNo. The smokey leather of his entry level civic combine with a generous splash of musk (gotta get the ladies!!) will turn even the strongest of stomachs! -10/10
LOVE FREQUENCY 🌹: I am a huge rose snob so I won’t go easy. Who doesn’t love the smell of cheap, synthetic roses? Especially when blended with a nose-hair burning cashmere? At first it smells like wine (probably the alcohol used because this projects like a beast!) and I was worried I would be left with an instant hangover. A perfectly simple two-note punch. CONCLUSION: Nothing new! Charlotte hoped she was being unique but failed. The concept is like something you would hear a drunk girl in the bar loo tell you about. “I have the BEST MOST UNIQUE IDEA! Perfume! That … affects your MOOD!”
These are synthetic, generic two/three note smells that shouldn’t cost most than $15.00. Anthropologie has beautifully blended scents for the same price if you want something nice and budget friendly. I wish people would just stay in their lane when it comes to product manufacturing and I really hope that I don’t start smelling any of these everywhere just because of the name.

Will be doubling the size of the tank for my two angelfish this weekend, but read that I need to cycle the new tank to make sure that the ph levels are appropriate for the fish. I've read some articles online, but can anyone sum up the process in simpler terms? Does anyone have a routine that has worked for them in the past? I'm still very new to this and appreciate the help! Edit: Do not know if it's relevant or not, but the angelfish were not put in a cycled tank when my mother got them a year ago.

A year ago, a knock at my door started a short series of events that has gone, to this day, left with accountability for the actions of the officers involved met with zero effort to be achieved. So, here it is, for all to see and hopefully, shine a light on the actions of a Parole Officer a Trooper and others that were with them the day they came to my home.
The first knock was on Monday, May 8th, by a female Probation Officer who was looking for XXXRedactedXXX, who apparently lived here at some point, likely the most recent before I took ownership of the property. This conversation was actually very polite on both ends, with me explaining that while I know the name due to recent mail deliveries and the fact that he may be related to one of my neighbors friend, he does not live here, has not lived here for at least the last 19 months since I started doing renovation on the home, and that the previous owners were removed from the property roughly 6 months prior to that, making this now at least 2 years since anyone other than me and my girlfriend has lived here.
I provided proof to this fact, as well. After a short exchange and an apology from her and her partner, who stayed on the street while she and I chatted, they left. The end.
Until 2 weeks later. This time, while I am sitting in a Zoom waiting room to meet a new client and the rest of her team, my dog begins tracking something down the house. I pull a curtain back to see a complete stranger in a black vest (from the back, unmarked) walking along the back side of my house and looking in windows, and then a knock at my door. Same female Probation Officer, this time with someone else standing on my porch, and 2 cars parked on the street with other officers walking around my house. I answer and I’m immediately and obviously agitated, yet at this point I am still polite (No, not as in “Well, polite but…”, polite as there are ACTUALLY people hearing this happening…) she begins asking me once again about XXXRedactedXXX, to which I explain to them both once again that I do not know him, have no association with him and, as I was about to tell them that I MIGHT actually know where he is, she says “Well, we’re coming in to take a look.”....
Me: “Do you have a warrant to search the property?”
Her: “No, but we don’t need one…” Me: “No, you do, and since you don’t I am going to resume my work day by meeting my client who is currently sitting in wait for me on a Zoom call” and proceed to close the door.
Her: Puts her foot in my door…….
Here’s where I began to become impolite, first by kicking the corner of my front door into her foot, then pulling it open and firmly explaining to her that this would NOT be happening today, and not to me. Now her and her partner are “bargaining” with me to let them in after she pulls this stunt, and I 100% denied, then closed my door and then, not knowing what to expect next, asked my NEW client to reschedule for later or the next day. We agreed to meet about 2 hours later, giving me time to clear my unwelcome guests from my presence and calm down.
This took some time, as they not only refused to leave, but another car load arrived and made a small show of force outside my house, while the female officer produced a printout from the State website of a MUGSHOT of XXXRedactedXXX. I immediately dismissed this as useless and after some back and forth, I went inside, printed the exact same sheet off the website, then handed it to her and asked if that was a warrant. “No…” with some gibberish I interrupted by crumpling the paper up and tossing it off, then walked back inside, stood at the window, flipped them off and closed the blinds.
Should have figured that it wasn’t over, but roughly an hour later, 5 or 6 cars pulled up, each with plain clothed State Troopers, led by this Sgt. XXXRedactedXXX. (Interestingly, it was the County Police Dispatcher that gave me this information, I love him for this!).
What happened over the next roughly 45 minutes was a volley of screaming, both from me and from them, with XXXRedactedXXX doing his level best to make sure I knew he was who he thought was in charge. This also included a younger officer deriding my status as a Marine Corps Veteran several times over, with phrases like “Most veterans can be scum” and “You must have gone military because you’re too dumb for college”, along with threats that if they came back with a warrant, he would absolutely NOT knock. (This was in response to my repeated insistence that at this point the only way they would enter would be with a warrant, and an assurance that if they attempted to do so without, that I would treat them as any trespasser).
I was repeatedly threatened by XXXRedactedXXX and mostly this young officer, while the rest just stood around and tried to look intimidating. (They weren’t)
Threats of jail, threats of property damage, several lies regarding jurisdiction, civil rights and property owner rights, prevailing laws surrounding marijuana and how if they came back with a warrant, anything they find would be used to throw me in jail.. (Exact words: “Throw you in jail just for making this hard on us”)
Eventually I did pick out two officers to come in for a fast look, and with my hovering presence as I did not wish them to be there to begin with, and to which one did attempt to go beyond a “reasonable” look for a human… (Sir, why did you feel like you had to open my girlfriend's panty drawer?).
Instead of a “Thank you” and any form of an apology for the inconvenience, instead, they left by whelping their sirens and mocking my over the PA speaker as if it was a parade and they were local heroes for what they just did.
Up to this point, all I wanted was an apology and a recognition that what happened that day was not only wrong, but never should have happened again. But now it’s a year later and despite several attempts to reach out to Lawler directly, his supervisor and others within the State Police leadership, nothing has come of it, less than nothing.
The recent actions of the officers involved raise serious concerns about their fitness to serve in a role where public safety hinges on responsible decision-making. Their conduct constitutes a clear violation of not only my rights, but potentially the rights of every citizen they interact with. Therefore, I urge a full investigation and their permanent removal from law enforcement. Monetary compensation is not the answer. The safety of our community demands the strongest possible action.

I am looking for remote work, but I genuinely don't know where to start.
I've tried all the sites, indeed, linkedin, ziprecruiter, etc., but everything I've found is a job I have no clue what it is, or I'm not qualified for the job. A bit of context, I'm looking to move to Mexico from the US in a year or so to be with my significant other, as they do not have a visa to move to me, so a remote job from the US is an absolute necessity. Not only would it afford us to live without worrying about money, but I cannot get a job in Mexico, on account of myself being a filthy monolingual, as I currently only speak English. I am working with a personal language tutor to learn Spanish, but until I can fluently speak and understand the native language, a job in Mexico would be off the table for me. And with the rate of pay in Mexico being what it is, we would be struggling, and it would be damn near impossible to live in Mexico by ourselves on what my partner makes. He cannot be the only one working.
I came here looking for help. Any recommendations for easy jobs that I could apply for? Advice or links to companies or job offers? Genuinely anything would be helpful. I'm worried about finding a remote job that I'll be able to do, as I am not the most tech savvy, so anything like IT would not be a good fit for me. And most jobs I've been researching, it's a lot of technical work I unfortunately wouldn't be able to do.
Please, any and all help is extremely appreciated. I'm very new to the remote world, and I desperately need to find something.

When I said I didn't know where to start, that was the truth, so thank you to those in the comments for making me aware that I need to just search for the jobs I want and filter as remote, and that I need to provide my education and experience in order to get further assistance. One would think that I should know that, but again, this is a new concept of vocation for me. The tips about preliminary steps are appreciated.
I suppose a question I would have is, what kinds of entry level type jobs are there that are in abundance? I've heard customer service and sales representative. Are there any others people would recommend?
And to explain, I'm not tech savvy in the "I can code a website or help remotely fix someone's router." But I'm proficient in data entry, attention to detail type roles. I can use Office products, excel, word, you know, all those kinds of things. Not a lot that I have experience with on the technical aspect of things, but I'm able to learn.
As far as education and experience goes:
Experience: I've mostly worked in the pet care industry. Taking care of people's animals at boarding and daycare centers while their owners are away in a managerial position, and largely tending to the needs of the animals directly. I've also worked as a pharmacy technician at multiple different major retail grocery stores.
Education: I have a BFA in 2D animation. I'm an artistic type, not a technical type. I can do design work, like designing the look and aesthetics of a website, the flow and functionality of it, but not the coding aspect. Logos mockups and design, character design and animation, BG design, illustration, storyboarding, cleanup work, colourist work, etc.
I am proficient with a range of Adobe suite products: Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Illustrator, Acrobat, Animate, etc. As well as Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro.

Hi everyone
I just upgraded my 1Gbps to 2Gbps (as of yesterday), and today, I got my Unifi Dream Machine Special Edition - wahoo! I unplugged my Ubiquiti Alien Router (1Gbps), booted up my new DMSE, and plugged in the WAN connection.
2Gbps shows up in the onboard speed test - great!
Here's where it gets weird.
I figured I would just plug in the Alien Router to an ethernet port and switch to bridging mode: no dice. I spent a while doinking around with the configuration on the Amplifi side: no dice.
In the end, I figured I'd do some more research and go back to the original configuration while I do that (since my WiFi isn't working and my phone hot spot sucks).
I put everything back as it was: no dice. This time, it's not getting an IP from Ziply.
I looked on this subreddit and found a post about the lease allocation of IPs from the Ziply DHCP server being 2 per day. I contacted Ziply support, told them what I'd been up to, and they "rebuilt" something on their side. I asked if it was indeed the IP address lease allocation but couldn't get a straight answer so figured I would ask here.
The reason I'm asking for help isn't the Unifi/Ubiquiti question (although if someone knows what I'm doing wrong, I'd take any help gratefully!), but so I can plan for any potential "no IP address" issues when I swap things back again, and how best to expedite a resolution.
Thanks so much for reading and any help would be most appreciated! Even if you say "what you're doing won't work - go and buy a better wireless router!"

I'm new to this, but the recent update a couple weeks ago has different points values than the newly released ork codex. So the pdf points are the correct and the codex is already obsolete? Or vice versa?

2024.05.03 01:26 FabulousPoo ESAT with no regular GP, rejected medical cert

Hi, I'm about to exhaust the time allowed for medical certificates, and I'm worried what will happen next. I have multiple long term health issues that mean I can't work full time, and currently can't work at all. They're not severe enough for the DSP though.
Can anyone tell me if the steps below are correct? And help with any answers to steps 3 -5? Thank you!
  1. Submit another medical certificate. It'll almost certainly be rejected, due to the length of time I've been on medical certificates (over 2 years already, for multiple illnesses). Every single time for the past year they've tried to reject the med cert, and I reckon this time they'll succeed.
  2. When it's rejected, they'll book an ESAT for me. It might take months for the appointment to happen.
  3. In that period while I'm waiting for the ESAT, are my mutual obligations on pause? Because surely if a doctor is saying I can't work at all, surely Centrelink can't override that without their own assessment?
  4. My previous GP retired recently, I haven't settled on a new GP yet. Am I screwed if I don't have strong medical evidence to provide at the ESAT?
  5. The ESAT happens, and let's say they find me capable of working 10 hours a week. Maybe I can do that on an occasional very good week. But what happens on a bad week, which are far more common? Obviously Centrelink don't care - but how do I manage this on a practical level?

2024.05.03 01:05 WayToTheDawn63 Reviewing the Rising Tide from a player who was a little more mixed on the base game, and has S-ranked Kairos. Probably a bit of word vomit.

Rating DLC is hard. It's usually only played by people that already really like the game, so those with notable criticisms don't buy it. Therefore a DLC that reflects the main game can be reviewed more positively. I thought 16 was a solid game, but had my issues. It's still a good game.
I think the DLC was pretty bang average. It was more of the same. Whatever your thoughts are on FF16, are probably your thoughts on the DLC. I won't speak much on Kairos gate, my other thread covers a lot of opinions on that.
The story is whatever to me, and I don't particular care for the characters in the DLC. I don't dislike them, I just felt nothing, sorry. Some trickery to explain why Leviathan has been missing but can be found now, and why Mysidia is able to exist but look dead outside. Whatever lack of change the DLC has on the ending means nothing to me, as my interest in the story largely waned at Cid's death/Ultima's introduction. Mysidia is pretty, and I loved the location, but it was a lot smaller than expected, with much of the playtime in the area being padded out by forcing repeat trips through the same zone.

  3. Side quests that take you back through the region multiple times
The main 'stage' of the DLC was nothing ground-breaking. It was pretty, had some good fights, but was just another straight run through a series of easy encounters and then some fun bosses I'll talk more on later.
I think the side-quests were as mixed as the main-game. A couple of hunt-like quests that were alright and should've been available BEFORE Leviathan, given their lack of difficulty (and to pump up the levels of those struggling with it's damage check), but some really bad quests like fetch flowers in town and that's it. A quest like that is more excusable as part of many in the base game, but as part of 11? quests in a paid DLC is insulting. As part of 3, some of the quests just took you to dead ends you already explored that had a mediocre material chest you don't need to fight an elite you already killed to collect some arbitrary item. Some of the quests also just involved fighting a simple repeat or minor variation on a DLC enemy like the Leviathan Egi's. They're not really substantial beyond the idea of "here's some time to kill." Whatever lore or world building they might've provided, I just don't care if the playable content isn't justifying its inclusion.
The Leviathan abilities for Clive, weren't for me. I liked Tsunami as a replacement to Flames of Rebirth, but the rest weren't categories I enjoyed using. Deluge is a flare breath type that leaves you vulnerable and does its damage slowly. Cross swell is a redundant move. It groups enemies together, but with so many moves that wave clear on their own, the need to group them is basically useless. Abyssal Tear is alright, but, the set and let it build type isn't for me. Good at clearing waves, which is redundant, but often inconvenient against bosses and staggers. You can't have it come off cooldown during a stagger for example and have it be immediately useful like a Wind up, it needs to charge. As for the Eikonic feat, as a dodge, feat, it was never going to be able to compete with the sheer strength of permafrost from Shiva for me. I think everyone has their 'main feat' they spend most of their time on, where their lower cooldown abilities are, and it never stood a chance for me. The relevance of these moves might change when it comes to arcade or kairos point scoring, but criticism of those systems have been done to death. I frankly didn't bother using much of ultima's abilities. You get it right at the end of the DLC to use in Kairos and I didn't feel like learning a new moveset while trying to S-rank something.
This is another part of the DLC that for better and worse, reflects the main game pretty well. The regular enemies are push overs that offer little to nothing to the combat, and the enemies across the main map of Mysidia were much the same as the main game. Minor visual variations, but the same punching bags. Tonberries might as well have been reskinned goblins.
The big fights were mostly good though, but felt far too few, with similar issues to the main game where there'd be minor variations on existing types. Large tonberry bosses/elites I no damaged all on first attempt. A big lizard variant that had maybe 1 difficult to avoid move.
Time Keeper is great though, and imo is the best fight of the DLC. No complaints honestly. A really good fight, unique mechanics with the way it freezes you, and no excessive cutscenes that make refighting it for no damage (despite no medal) hassle. The cutscenes are short and sweet. Every attack, including its big desperation moves are flashy with incredibly reasonable tells. A great fight all around.
Leviathan is a solid fight, but I have problems with it. The difficulty is fine though, hits hard when doing it first time on FF though! I'll get a personal gripe that isn't the fight itself out of the way. I go for no damage and medals of valour, so the fact I couldn't save closer to the beginning of the boss was annoying. Each attempt unless I wanted to let myself die, required walking through the part where it's firing orbs at Clive. Very time consuming to restart each attempt.
The fight itself immediately started off disappointing with the falling segment similar to titan lost part 3. I don't like how these sections work. The way Ifrit moves in the air, imo, creates depth perception problems and hitbox shenanigans where you can easily be missing swings during openings, and your moveset is much more limited than regular Ifrit. The design of Leviathan's moveset during this phase is PERFECTLY FINE though. Everything is fair, dodgeable and has ample tells.
The main portion of the fight is a lot better, and honestly, it felt like a much better version of Elden Beast from Elden Ring. A LOT of similarities IMO. Not without criticism though. There's still a lot of waiting around waiting for Leviathan to come back to you, and I think a couple of moves are problematic, namely maelstrom and riptide. They're easy to handle with the brimstone trick though. Maelstrom starts extremely quickly and I think is too large. The logical answer is to jump and dash out, but that often gets you caught on the outer edges. The 'tell' to dodge through it 3 times in a row is only there if you know to look for the THIN ring that expands out in inside the start up, dodging when it reaches the perimeter. I no damage the fight and didn't know about the tell until watching someone else. Riptide is easier to dodge than it looks, even without brimstone hover, but it's absolutely sensory overload. I don't know how I would change this move. It's just hard to know which ring you're dodging first when they overlap so much. The DPS check I didn't think was a problem. If you're underleveled not using attack accessories or bad at backdrafting, that's just something to overcome. I think it's completely manageable. Other than that, everything else about the fight is absolutely great to me.
Incredibly disappointing. A ton of accessories I don't see a purpose for, the obligatory equivalents for Leviathan/Ultima abilities that lose all relevance by endgame anyway. There are some weapons in Kairos gate that are so far below what you'd be using I don't understand their point, especially when Kairos is like the final challenge of the game. What is radiant X eikon weapon at 500 damage doing for me me I have the best weapon in the game??? Some extra defensive armours I guess, but that's just numbers. Tonberry weapon might've been interesting if there was anywhere to use it. It should have been an accessory so it's useable in arcade. -X attack for +X will damage as an accessory. You can't change weapons or armour in arcade or kairos, so it's unusable on anything you might still have to do. Major mistep.
Reiterating the intro, it's a DLC that very much reflects the good and bad of the main game. Echoes of the Fallen has it beat out in enemy design (barring maybe time keeper) and new accessories (mm assailment bit.) I don't really want to throw a number out, as 'more of the same' really just speaks to everyone, whether you loved or hated 16, or were somewhere in the middle.

Hi! I didn't expect to do an update here but honestly I just want to evacuat everything that happened today.
Original : I (25M) met this guy "J" (25M) through my roommate. We hit it off, and after a couple of weeks, I asked him out. We started going on dates and eventually began dating.
Fast forward five months, he was going to visit his parents and invited me along. When we arrived, his mom asked if I was his boyfriend. He cut her off and referred to me as his "friend." I was confused and greeted her anyway. He did the same thing with his dad and sister.
During the ride back, our conversation went approximately like this:
Me: Are we just friends with benefits to you?
J: No.
Me: Then why did you tell your family I'm just a friend?
J: Because we're not a couple.
Me: Then what are we?
J: ...
He remained silent for the rest of the ride. The next day, he acted like nothing had happened. I tried to discuss it with him multiple times, but he brushed it off.
I had to move out of my apartment for unrelated reasons and didn't tell J or my ex-roommate my new address. I stopped talking to him and replying to his messages. Now, three weeks later, he showed up at my door. He told me, he contacted my brother to get my address. He called me an asshole for ghosting him, accused me of cheating on him (he saw me hanging out with a girl he doesn't like). I told him I can hang out with whomever I want, especially since he said we're not a couple. He cursed at me a bit before saying I should have just broken up with him. Again, I thought we weren't a couple. He ended up leaving,a dn crying.
Even though I believe I did the right thing, my friends told me I might have been a little harsh on him. So to prove the point, I am writing this and letting the internet judge.
AITA for ghosting my boyfriend after he said we weren't a couple?
Edit : Yes, he is out. His family knows, during dinner they even asked him if he add any news about his ex-bf

Edit 2 : I looked at the comments with my friends and I understand what I did was childish, but I stick to it. My main problem was that he did not give me an answer. Not FwB, not a couple. I was his friend I guess? I let the internet judge.
Update: Two days after J showed up at my apartment, I was playing video games at my friend’s house when I heard my phone ringing. I picked up without looking at the number. It was one of J’s friends. He told me that for the past two days, J has been drinking non-stop . Saying that he was gonna KHM. He then asked me if I could meet with him to “cool him down” because he was not listening to any of his friends/family. I honestly did not want to see nor talk to him, but I did not want this situation to go that far. So I agreed to meet him.
I met J this morning in a public place. He was already there when I arrived. We talked for about an hour and a half. He told me about his relationship with his ex. It is a long story, but to make it short: The guy would be sweet, then mocking him in front of friends, cheating on him with a girl, begging for forgiveness. And the cycle repeats, it went on for 4 years. He also confessed lying to me about how long they were separated. When we met he told me that they broke up a year ago, they broke up 3 months before we met. He told me that he was that way with me because I apparently have the same profile as his ex (white, tall, bi). And because he could never make him feel like he did to him. He got it on me instead. Saying that he wanted to “feel powerful” for once in a relationship.
I asked about the cheating. He started crying and said that even though he never slept with anyone, he did some sexual stuff with one of his friends twice (the one that called me). J then told me that he is thinking about getting into therapy so we can “start over on healthy bases) because he “loves me”.
Tbh I did feel sorry for him about how his ex treated him. But the “I love you” thing made me feel weird, and uncortable. I told him that I did no want any kind of relationship with him, but that regardless he still should go to therapy. J started crying again, aked me if I was dating someone esle and if it was a women. I said that it is not of his business. He apologised multiple times. I paid the bill and left. I blocked the number of his friends and social media (he was already blocked, but they were unfollowed).
I don’t know really how to fell about that. I just feel weird
