2024.05.18 22:42 Sebby19 List of every error/mistake/contradiction in the 5-6 Player Extensions (March 2024 update)

Since new rulebooks dropped, it was only a matter of time before I went with a magnifying glass over these! Since I previously covered these errors in my larger list a couple years ago (Compilation of every erromistake/contradiction/etc., that I can find in the 'current' rulebooks. ), I will also compare and see what was fixed (in strikethrough), what is still there, and what is new (in bold). If there is an old error I missed the first time, there will be a * in front of it.
Base Game's 5-6 Player:
5-6 Seafarers
  1. For Scenario 2, regular Seafarers says to put the Robber on the 12 Token. However, in the extension, there are two to choose from (12-Fields and 12-Pasture). Which one? Apparently, the 2-Pasture hex
  2. For Scenario 3, regular Seafarers says to put the Robber on the 12 Token. However, in the extension, the Desert is reintroduced. So should the Robber go there instead? Or 12-Mountain/12-Hills hex? Robber is on the Desert.
  3. For Scenario 4 and 8, I suppose it doesn't matter which Desert the Robber starts on. Just odd there is no marker here, but there IS a Robber marked for Scenario 5. Inconsistent.
  1. Adding up all the tokens equals 40, when the total below says 39. Since there will be 39 resource producing hexes, there is an extra # token in the count above.
  2. However, the Base Game's 5-6 extension only has 28 tokens, while Seafarers adds 10 more (total 38). This implies a # token should be taken from the Base Game, so the rulebook should make that clear
  3. Related to that, it says there should be 5 copies of the 5-9 tokens. This is impossible, since Base 5-6 + SF should have 3 copies of 2 and 12, 4 of everything else. Again, implying more tokens from the Base Game need to be taken, but it never states this.
5-6 Cities & Knights: No mistakes! It is STILL clean!!!
5-6 Traders & Barbarians
  1. '6-1'>'1-2'>'2-2'>'2-3'>'3-3'>'3-4'>'4-5'>'5-5'>'5-6'>'6-6'>; page 3 instead displays (from top-left, clockwise):
  2. '6-1'>'2-2'>'1-2'>'3-3'>'3-4'>'2-3'>'6-6'>'4-5'>'5-5'>'5-6'>. If this is supposed to be intentional, the rulebook should either state this (or be more specific), or make the image bigger, since I had to squint to see the different layout.
  3. Also, if the different frame setup is intentional, why not show T&B's version of the '5-6' frame piece (with the missing coast)?
5-6 Explorers & Pirates
  1. The terrain hexes from regular E&P should show 2 Fields hexes, and 1 of everything else. Instead its showing 2 Mountain hexes (which is only correct for the Green Moon side)
  2. The terrain hexes from E&P's extension should be Mountain-Pasture-Hills. Instead its showing Mountain-Forest-Fields (again, only correct for the Green Moon side)
So to summarize:
  1. Base Game Extension: Originally 2 errors, 1 was fixed, 1 was added
  2. Seafarers Extensions: Originally 12 errors. 9 were fixed, 2 were added
  3. C&K Extension: Never had errors, none were added :)
  4. T&B Extension: Originally 9 errors. 1 was fixed, and 1 was added >:(
  5. E&P Extension: Originally 3 errors. 1 was fixed, 1 was added.
In the end, I'm a little disappointed. The only extension rulebook that saw any real improvement was SF. I wasn't planning on buying any Extensions until the rules were updated with the new Paired Players system. But... maybe I'll just have to wait for the 6th Edition, in 2030. :(
I shouldn't be so hard on them, as I missed several errors myself the first time around. Even some of my own errors in my original list (fixed now). But I'm just some bored shmuck doing this in my free time. I'd expect more from a corporation.

2024.05.18 20:41 LeornToCodeLOL 2 Different Distros Both Having Graphics problems after updating kernel. Why?

TLDR: 2 different machines (Kubuntu 22.04 and Debian 11) both had nvidia graphics problems when updating the kernel recently. I'm guessing this is not a coincidence. I'm wondering why Nvidia drivers on both machines broke more or less at the same time, and advice on how to troubleshoot. Thanks!
I have 2 machines, both with Nvidia graphics cards and drivers. A couple weeks ago, Kubuntu 22.04 updated kernel during routine apt update && apt upgrade. For me to get any GUI or graphics at all, I have to use the grub menu to load to an old kernel, and even then CUDA does not anymore work. I am intending to purge everything Nvidia from that machine and reinstall when I get around to it.
But then last night, I did routine updates on a Debian Bullseye machine, also with Nvidia grahphic drivers. It will still load to the Gnome desktop, but at a very low resolution. If I use the grub menu to load the prior kernel, then the Debian machine works fine. Here are some error messages that I saved when runing apt upgrade on this machine:

So this past Tuesday I had my first fatal accident. 3 adults 3, 1 pediatric(child). 1 car traveling between 100-120mph, pulled out to pass a car and hit head on into another car knocking the engine and exhaust out of the other car while making the speeding car flip and catch on fire. I was in the mist of everything and held every victim in my arms and hands as I layed them in body bags. Including the little girl. I feel bad for the victims but that’s about it. Is it normal for me to not be torn up inside about because after the scene I was completely fine and went about my day. Somebody tell me sum.

Nurse Love Syndrome is a Japanese yuri VN developed by Kogado Studio (probably most famous for Symphonic Rain). It’s available in English on Steam, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch. It takes around 30 hours to read every route and see all the endings.
PREMISE:
It’s been Kaori’s dream to be a nurse since she got in a near-fatal accident when she was 10 years old. Her life was saved thanks to good medical care. She can’t remember much about her accident apart from that, though. The game starts on her first day as a nurse after graduating from nursing school. The VN largely focuses on her first few months working in the internal medicine ward at a hospital. The game’s central story is about her adapting to life as a nurse and finding love, with a multi-route mystery that uncovers the details of her accident as well as her mysterious ability to sometimes heal people using only her touch.
ART:
The game has excellent art across the board. The sprites are great and highly expressive, the character designs are adorable, the CGs are beautiful, and the backgrounds are highly detailed and very well done. Overall, the game has a very kawaii art-style, one that might trick you into thinking the game is 100% wholesome, but don’t be fooled.
SOUND:
The sound is really great for the most part, especially the VA which is top-notch. You can tell the cast went all out, and the emotionality in their voices is always exactly where it should be. Kaori and Sayuri’s VA were the ones who stood out the most, but everyone did a great job.
The game makes heavy use of sound effects, which I actually like. Lots of doors opening, people walking, medical devices making sounds, and so forth. It’s good for immersion.
The music is probably the weakest link when it comes to sounds, but it isn’t because it’s bad. It’s just less good than the other stuff. Only the three main heroines have themes, which is a bit of a let down, and the game has a relatively small number of tracks (18) for a VN that takes 30 hours to read. So, some of them get pretty repetitive when you’re on the back half of the game.
ROUTE STRUCTURE:
There’s a common route that lasts about six chapters before you end up on a romance route. You’ll meet most of the heroines over the course of the common route. The common route does a great job of presenting the various challenges that nurses encounter on the job and it doesn't sugar coat things. You’re likely to come out of it with more medical knowledge than you had before and newfound respect for nurses. There were actual nurses involved in the writing, and it shows. The parts of the game that focus on medical care and specific patients were a highlight for me. It was easy to get immersed.
There are six heroines. Three of them are “side heroines” with shorter routes. These three didn't actually have routes in the original game, but only got them in the remaster. The other three have more substantial routes and reveal more of the game’s mysteries.
All six have a good ending and a bad ending. For the most part, I don’t like how they executed the bad endings. Most of them don’t tell a good story and just seem to be going for shock value, and the things that they have the characters do in these bad endings often feel very out of character for who they actually are. I don't have a problem with bad endings when they are well-written and thought provoking. Most of these aren't.
There is an enforced route order. You have to complete the game’s “normal end” first, which takes you through the common route and into the first couple chapters of Hatsumi’s route. Then, you can gain access to most of the other routes – but not Hatsumi’s actual good and bad endings, which you can only reach after seeing the good endings for Sayuri and Nagisa. In other words, you pretty much have to read her route last, and they do it that way because her route reveals the most.
CHARACTERS/STORY:
Sawai Kaori
Kaori can be pretty frustrating, especially in the common route. She’s got to be the most incompetent nurse who ever lived. And, while it’s understandable she would encounter problems being a full-fledged nurse for the first time, they go a little too hard on having her struggle. For example, she doesn’t know what PT stands for, doesn’t know how to stop a bloody nose, and can’t draw blood. Those are only the most egregious examples of her medical failings early on in the story, and they were bad enough that I was dreading having to put up with this MC for almost 30 hours of reading.
However, I will say that she gets better as the story progresses, and her desire to work to get better is a large part of her story. Except in Nagisa’s route, where she continues to be incompetent for much longer than in the other routes.
In the end, I do think she’s a likable MC that you can empathize with, but it does take awhile for you to feel that way. It doesn’t hurt that her character design is downright adorable, and her VA does an excellent job too. Her backstory is really interesting and well-executed as a multi-route mystery, too.
Now, let’s talk about the heroines, who I’m also discussing in my recommended route order. This is the best order for gradually revealing the game’s mysteries.
Asadi Ami
Ami is a 16-year-old patient with nephrotic syndrome. She’s a musician who missed a ton of school in the hospital’s internal medicine ward. She comes off as a super sweet girl, despite all of her hardships. She very clearly has a crush on Kaori from the beginning. Her route is one of the shorter side routes, and it’s solid, but nothing special. If you’re a Symphonic Rain fan, her route does have several references to it that are pretty fun.
Yamanouchi Yasuko
Yamanouchi is a nurse in her late 20s who is a mentor to both Kaori and Nagisa. She’s wacky and likes giving everyone a hard time, often in a very flirty way. But she cares deeply about her patients and their well-being. Hers is another one of the side routes. Like Ami’s, I’d say it’s solid but nothing special. She is hilarious and fun in everyone's routes, though.
Sakai Sayuri
Sayuri is a 20-year-old patient who is suffering from aplastic anemia. At first she’s incredibly cruel to Kaori because of how incompetent she is (and who can blame her?). She’s a textbook tsundere. For me, Sayuri’s route is the best, and it isn’t particularly close. In fact, her route is one of the best routes I’ve read in any visual novel, and a route I know I’ll come back to. Her bad ending is the only one that I would describe as “well-written” in the entire VN, and her good ending is also excellent. You will find yourself very much invested in her as a character, and in her relationship with Kaori.

Nagisa is Kaori’s high school senpai. They were in student council together, but the two have lost touch for the last several years. Kaori’s first day at the hospital is the first time they’ve seen each other since graduation. But, they immediately pick up where they left off. I think Nagisa and her route are the weakest part of the game. I didn’t find her likable at all. She doesn’t have an especially distinctive personality and kind of gets lost around more expressive, mysterious, or entertaining characters. The path they take her down in both of her endings is one that made me like her even less. I had a hard time understanding why Kaori would even want to be with her, which is never what you want in a romance route.
Wakamoto Mayuki
Mayuki is a young girl who is described as an “incredibly difficult patient,” so much so that Kaori is instructed to stay away from her. Despite hers being a shorter side-route, you do learn some important things about Kaori here. Despite having some important story elements in it, I think it’s the weakest of the three side routes. This is largely because you don’t see Mayuki at all if you aren’t on her route. So, you have very little time to make you care about her story or how Kaori gets along with her. One notable thing about her for yuri fans - her VA is Sakura Ayane (Erika in the Flowers series).
Ootsuka Hatsumi
Hatsumi is in her early 30s and is the chief nurse in the internal medicine ward. She’s a stern no-nonsense type but is somehow very nurturing at the same time. Making sure the nurses in her ward are the best they can be is her entire focus in life. She’s definitely got some serious mommy energy. While I don’t think her route is as good as Sayuri’s, I think it’s pretty easily the second best route in the game. Her route is the one you have to finish the game on because of the enforced route order, and her good ending is a great way to end the game.
SUMMARY:
Pros:
The game has beautiful art and sound
Hatsumi and Sayuri’s routes are excellent, especially Sayuri’s.
The multi-route mystery is well-executed and compelling.
Cons:
The MC is incredibly frustrating, especially during the common route.
Nagisa is a net negative to the game.
The “shock value” bad endings often feel out of place and out of character.
OVERALL GRADE: 7.5/10 (In between “Good” and “Very Good”)
This VN isn't perfect, but it's definitely a good read and lots of good stories and cute moments await you. Just be expected for some hard times and some heart break, too. Especially if you read the bad endings.

Example Louis Slotin Demon Core accident it lasted under one second before he flipped upper beryllium hemisphere to floor and ended reaction. Under second he received 10 Gy neutron + 1,14 Gy of gamma. I don't know this neutron Gy:s to sieverts conversion because it's not 1:1. If calculated by one second irridation time, what is the dose rate ?

I've been a fast and furious fan ever since 2013 when i first saw "Fast Five" on my fathers old laptop. It was perfect. Everything a child with a hot wheels obsession could ask for. Of course I was too young to understand the plot of the movie back then but the action was absolutely amazing. After rewatching the series I have come to the conclusion that the franchise has lost a lot of what it stands for. It went from being about street racing to Heisting (no complains there) then to being a detective style expendables wannabe and finally to literal science fiction. Another problem that the franchise faces is its obsession with bringing people back from the dead. Considering how invincible the characters already are it just seems overkill (Almost all of them having had survived accidents that would otherwise be fatal). Bringing back Letty was one thing but then bringing back every character that died after her was just plane stupid. I mean Look at how many people came back to life- Shaw, Han, Gisele and Letty. That in addition with two characters that were supposedly a part of the story from a long time ago is just obnoxious. The whole story of Jakob Toretto was simply uninspired and forced. Furthermore, the lack of originality with Dante Reyes(Jason Momoa) put the final nail in the coffin for my anticipation of the next movie. Dante Reyes was not only unoriginal but also trying to follow this "Wannabe Joker From Dark knight" archetype. And what was worse still was the casting choice of Jason Momoa. This is not to insult his acting skills at all, its just that this character (A poorly written one) just doesn't match him very well. Coming back to my rant about the story itself. The amount of science fiction elements in the movies has increased stupendously and it is hurting the franchise. Like, Tej and Roman literally got to space, that too in a bloody car. I understand that the movie is supposed to be exciting and absurd but at this point it just seems disappointing and the plot seems braindead. Unfortunately as much as I love this franchise, I am definitely not excited for fast X part 2.

Removed videos:
the first removed video I will talk about was one called “nyanners singing meme” which is of an anime character dancing then it cuts to a quick beheading in the top corner before cutting back to the anime character. I actually got to see the video before it was removed by youtube and in my opinion it really wasn’t that bad. Another video that got removed which I also got to have the opportunity of seeing before it’s removal was a video called ventas rumba and it shows a clip of the venta waterfall in Latvia before cutting to a beheading in a pink colored tint and cutting back to the waterfall. In my opinion that video was worse than the first beheading but still not the worst I’ve seen. Another removed video was called anime meme and it began with an anime character with a chainsaw before cutting to the infamous cartel murder video 2 guys 1 chainsaw (never heard of it but wanna learn more without watching it? Another removed video is a video called SpongeBob’s naughty tv show and it shows SpongeBob watching tv then cuts to a man masturbating with a mcchicken sandwich. Another removed video and probably the least disturbing removed video because it doesn’t have actual gore or gross content was called ducktales molestar psa and supposedly it was just the ducktales characters saying inappropriate racist things in a song but I never got to see it and can’t find any further details on it. The last of the removed videos and probably the most disturbing of the removed videos is one called tourist trolled in Mexico and it’s the infamous el patron or 1 man 5 bullets video and it shows the murder of a man named Leonardo Alexander Caripe Brito. I also wanted to say that the video wasn’t even from Mexico and the murder actually took place in Peru so the name of the video was wrong. In the video Brito is sitting on steps near a building and a man named Frank Anthony Lopez Quiroz approaches him yelling “tu dile el patron” which means “you told the boss” and before Brito says anything Quiroz pulls out a gun and begins shooting him in the face and in the video Brito’s eyeball pops out after being shot and his nose pours out blood as he collapses bleeding out and then the video ends. I saw the video before (not on bunbunmaru tho) and it was so bad that I would consider it to be about as bad as some cartel videos I’ve seen and maybe even worse than some of them. Unfortunately Brito was only 34 and he left behind a wife and 3 young kids. Quiroz was also arrested prior to killing Brito for murdering 2 people and was connected to 8 other murders and went by the nickname“mata por gusto” which translates to “kills for pleasure” so he is obviously a piece of work. Rest in peace Leonardo Brito
Videos that are still up: I am currently watching some of the videos that are still up to help write this post and I won’t lie I am watching them out of curiosity too. The first video that is still up and I believe I watched it when I first found out about the channel about 6 months ago but I don’t feel like watching it again because it was really gross. It’s called “wtf gumball watchin” and it supposedlyshows gumball from the amazing world of gumball walking in on banana Joe (another character from the show) watching a video on his computer and the video shows multiple other pictures and videos with 2 being of scat porn, one being a dead animal with “fuck (n words) on it”, 2 characters from a show called ongezellig, and the nazi swastika symbol. From what I remember luckily the videos and photos were super small and hard to tell what they are but again I don’t feel like seeing anything related to scat so I won’t be watching that again. The next video which I actually just watched now 5 seconds ago and it really isn’t that bad is called “hodomoe cat mp6” and it shows a cat dancing with multiple gore images that are so small that you can barely tell what they are and the one looked like a guy missing his face and according to screamer wiki the one picture is of a motorcycle accident but the pictures are so small that you can barely see them. The next video which I’ve also opted out of watching I already talked about and it is called “Pearl fish’s gross hiding spot”. The next video which I watched about an hour ago right before I began writing this post (yes these posts take me a while to write) is called “decipher this song” and it shows an all black screen with a song playing and at the very end it shows a very quick clip of a decomposing body. There are also 2 very mild videos on the channel called cat bbc and sound 100% koin which are just bait and switch videos that cut to Jeff the killer. The channel also uploaded a few other videos that screamer wiki hasn’t written about yet and I am taking breaks from writing to watch them and returning to writing right after I finish watching each. The one I just watched is called “I like touhou” and it’s another highly disturbing video that begins some anime character and then shows an isis beheading and a picture of a very decomposed body who’s face is completely blue. The next one I just watched is called fainal rickroll and it is just a video that cuts to Jeff the killer with a rickroll at the end nothing crazy. The last one is called oh pretttty Roman and it shows a series of gore images with one being the guy missing his face from hodomoe cat and a picture of the infamous shock image “tubgirl” where a girl is in a bathtub with her own diarrhea shooting on her face and a few memes and more gore pictures with one being a person missing a hand and another decomposing body then a picture of Jeff the killer. After the disturbing images the video cuts to a color changing screen that is probably a seizure warning for some people so don’t watch that if you have issues with flashing lights. If the channel posts more in the future then I might make another post talking about it as well but based on past similar youtube channels they probably won’t be up too long because people report that type of content. I don't know if y'all have noticed, but Gua Musang is always on the headlines for fatal or serious incidents in national news.
Earlier this year (or late last year, sorry don't remember exactly when), there were attacks of tiger on human causing serious injury and death to orang asli, and then it made headline again when the said tiger was caught (I still remember the video of that tiger people shared on Facebook, it was so fierce and aggressive and it's eye were greenish in colour, even in the cage it was still scary af!)
Just few weeks ago (or last week) there was a Bangladeshi worker who died from being trampled by elephant. Lo and behold, earlier this week there was a fatal accident of 3 orang asli men who lost control on the cement lorry they were driving and plunged into a revine. Also just two days ago, there was another fatal accident involving the death of a Malay woman reported as well.
Why is it that so many people die prematurely in Gua Musang? Is it really just purely a lack of development on their infrastructure? Or is this just confirmation bias on my end? Does anyone else feel the same?

Screaming, Demands, Orders. Those are the sorts of things you expect when you have a weapon pointed in your face, but out here, in the void of space, and with no contact with the one pointing this weapon, we simply stared at each other in silence. I slowly raised my hands to shoulder height, palms out, in an attempt to show that I meant no harm. In silence we waited, as the second being inside of the ship crawled out of the airlock. They seemed panicked, and once outside, they looked around, before also pointing their weapon in my direction. Then they began... to drift. I saw them panic for a moment, which made things worse, and they were soon tumbling backwords, albeit slowly, away from both vessels, still held in place by the mining drones. With a slow wave of my hand, I gestured to the first... Alien? Person? That their colleague was slowling escaping them. They glanced over their should and began to panic as well, but kept their weapon trained on me. With very slow movements, I brought one hand to my wrist and used the interface on my suit to task a drone to retrieve the distressed being, now flailing slightly as they floated away. Despite the gun still pointed my way, I couldn't help but chuckle a little. The ship had Point defense turrets for breaking up small debris, and I know Aerie wouldn't leave me hanging. Glancing over their shoulder, the first person, i'll stick with person, seemed to let go a sigh of relief as they saw the drone brining their companion back to us. With that, they tentatively lowered their weapon, giving me some sort of nod or bow, it was difficult to tell.
As the drone deposited the second person back near the airlock, they wheeled their weapon up at me once more, only to have the first one reach over and place their arm across theirs, lowering them. With that, I gestured towards my ship with the open airlock. "Hey Aerie," I asked, "Could you please tap into their comms, if possible? Try to decypher their language, and if you can, put something on the display in the ship to communicate the atmosphere contents inside? Something they may be able to understand."
"Understood, the graphs are displayed now, and their communications, at least in those suits, are laughably basic, I've been taking language samples since before they left the ship." Aerie replied, and with that, I began moving towards my airlock, and the two creatures followed, after seeming to discuss for a moment. Once inside the ship, I relaxed. I gestured to a display showing a simple numbers chart using dots, a periodic table, and lastly a graph referring to Oxygen and Nitrogen on the table, signifying percentages. I know for a fact I would never be able to pick this stuff up, but it seems that after review and discussing it for a bit, they seemed to understand, because the one that managed to not drift into space hesitantly reached up and began to remove their helmet.
As the helmet came off, to say I was shocked would be an understatement. I already assumed I was dealing with some sort of alien, or at least a long lost human colony, due to how similar the anatomy seemed within their suits, but what I was looking at was a real life alien! If human facial structure was anything to go by, then this one was female. She was tall, with a light green skin that seemed extremely smooth. They would look like a bad accident with powder paint if it wasn't for the lack of hair, which was instead replaced with rows of fins that traced around her head and ended down at her nape. She turned to me after her helmet was off, and seemed to realize something, as her head cocked to the side, and all of the fins, or frills, on her head raised at once, pointing straight out on the back of her head, and the ones on the top of her head angling slighty upwards, rather than laying flat. I describe all of this objectively, but it's not absurd to say that I found this woman absolutely stunning. A deep breath later, and she turned and said something in her language while gesturing to hear companion. Their tongue sounded like a mix of high pitched trilling combined with the standard throat and tongue sounds of typical human speech, almost like a bird was singing alongside someone speaking a foreign language.
If the first Alien was beautiful, words will not do justice to the second. As they removed their helmet, I was greeted by a second alien, with similar frills and soft looking skin, but theirs was a lighter green color, and they had eyes that were as blue as a clear summer sky. They burned with an intensity as she breathed deeply, and examined me still inside of my suit, her eyes seemed to crawl up and down my frame, examining every detail. She was smaller, with less sharp features on her face, but she was the first to smile at me after a moment, and give a bow.
I was completely dumbstruck. I had no idea what to do in the face of a situation like this. I ended up returning the bow as my head swam. Not because they were cute, you animals, but because of the situation. This was first contact! To my knowledge, humanity has not yet met another race, and here I am, 86 jumps from Terran space, face to face with two real life aliens!
"Uh.. Aerie? Any word on those translations?" I asked. I was given my answer when the previous display was wiped, and a graphic showing two people talking was shown. I gestured to the two, and pointed at the display. Even if they didn't understand what was intended, it at least got them speaking more, which I believe is what Aerie had wanted. They gesticulated at the display and talked amonst themselves while I watched. They were both still armed, and I wasn't keen on getting comfortable just yet.
After about 10 minutes of me observing them, I heard a ping in my helmet, followed by Aerie, "I am pretty sure I have enough samples to have dissected the language, please give it a try."
Clearing my throat, I called out, "Uhm.. hello? Can you guys understand me?" They both wheeled around to face me, shock on their faces, and as they spoke, I heard their words translated through my helmet.
The tall, larger one spoke first. "Hello, I am shocked, you seem to have translated our language extremely quickly. I am Yorlia," She said, giving a bow. "and this my Liege, Countess Varien of house Gostak."
At this, the smaller alien spoke up while giving a bow. "Thank you for coming to our rescue, please call me Varien. If I may ask, why do you still wear your armor, and of which race are you? Your features seem to elude to you also being a Filorian, yet we have never seen a ship of your make, nor of such power to dispatch our pursuers in a single shot."
"I still wear my armor because you are still armed." I replied. "And no, I am not uh... Filorian. I am Human. You are Humanity's first contact among the stars." At this, they both glanced at each other, seeming to be a little suprised. Slowly, they both placed their weapon on the floor.
"We apologize," Said Varien, "We have had a rough day. Once again, thank you for our rescue, and welcome to the stars. May we have the pleasure now of looking the being who has saved us in the eyes?"
Slowly, I unclasped the latched on my helmet, hearing the familiar hiss of air escaping at I slid the clunky thing off. After placing the helmet under one arm against my hip, both of the Filorians let out a slight gasp, and, too fast for her apparent bodyguard to stop her, Countess Varien strode past her and reached to touch my face. Unsure of how to respond, I ended up standing there as a glove was removed, and Varien was suddenly poking and prodding at my cheeks, and giving my disty brown hair a slight tug.
"Yor, Yor! They look just like us! Just like us but fuzzy! Do all of your kind have fur on your head? Are all of you so lightly colored? Why do you look like us? Do you also have a love for the water? Yor you must touch his fur, you must!" Varien was practically bouncing, and if not for the shock of first contact still running through my system, I'm sure I would have been laughing out loud.
I let out a breath I had been holding. "Let me at least get out of my armor. I can tell this will take awhile."
Without my helmet, my comment fell on deaf ears.

(BIG NOTE: There's gonna be a lot of spoilers mentioned, including the ARG and VHS footage on Mob's YouTube channel! also, this is going to be very long....)
Hi, hello- I'm not exactly new to Poppy Playtime, but recently, I've gotten really interested because of Chapter 3's release. So I decided to do a deeper dive sorta study on the entire game, and I wanted to point out some things as well as address some of the questions I had. I know I'm gonna sound nitpicky and I am completely and obviously aware that the game isn't finished yet, and I might be taking it a bit too seriously (lOL), but I've been wondering this for a while now, and I was hoping some of you guys would like to discuss with me about this!
So first off, despite what I say, I genuinely do enjoy Poppy Playtime. The production value Mob's taken has been phenomenal, and there are clearly a lot of majorly talented people on staff. I adore how far the graphics have gotten, and the animations on the characters are only one of the reasons why the game can set itself apart from others of the mascot horror genre. I also really enjoy the game mechanics; the grabpack and how we solve puzzles not only enhance world-building but also give the game a unique identity. While I believe there are a lot of flaws, Poppy Playtime does deserve every bit of praise it has gotten.
Now, about the questions I have.....
I wanna start with the main character. Specifically, who we play as. I'm fully aware we're an ex-employee of the factory who has taken part in the human-to-toy experimentation (Mob really loves shoving that in our faces and nothing else about us apparently). And we're meant to be an actual in-universe character (Rich, for example) or just a sorta vessel that we insert ourselves in; but either way, I don't feel like we're actually a character. A lot of people have pointed out that we've come back to the factory to either repent for our sins or bury the evidence of our wrongdoings. If we're a person truly guilty of the crimes we've committed, why did we wait 10 years to finally face what we've done? More importantly, why did we believe this mysterious note that was just left in our mail saying how our coworkers disappeared? In any case, why didn't we turn ourselves in to the police after the factory shut down? Now, in regards to all this, I do believe we've turned away from our crimes since The Hour of Joy because we probably just wanted nothing to do with the factory anymore. Like when someone does something horrible, it might be easier for them to bury away their past and never face it again due to the sheer amount of impact that will devastate them. That can explain why we've been away for so long. With the note, while I still don't think anyone could willingly march back into the factory after just reading it (especially with the misspellings), I can see it as us realizing that we need to undo our actions and maybe go to the factory to gather evidence on what we did, then submitting it to the police. But we.. don't really do that, we just show up right away putting all our faith into this one note and thinking we're going to see our coworkers again. And right after the Huggy Wuggy chase, we just willingly free Poppy, no questions asked, and then after that, we decided to get out. Although, I guess you could say that Poppy could be the evidence we need for the child experimentation, so that might be why we're willing to risk our lives to the point where we'd need to save her? If so, that would probably debunk the whole "destroying the evidence and bury our crimes" theory, because our clear motive for chapter 2 is getting out the factory; that only changed because Poppy sabotaged the train. However, even in Chapter 3, we're supposedly willing to work with Poppy to kill The Prototype (well, maybe not willing, since we basically implied to have no choice). At that point, our main objective would to kill The Prototype, at least that is what the game's implying.
The reason I'm stating all this is because, well, I'm confused obviously. Our objectives flip-flop until Chapter 3, but even then, what's stopping us from getting out of Playcare? Why did we choose to believe the note in the first place? Why do we never actually question anything inside the game? My main problem is that we just do whatever the characters tell us to do. Poppy says we're leaving? We'll follow her, no questions asked. A random "kid" (who I actually believe is just The Prototype) named Ollie suddenly appears and tells us what to do? Sure, why not? It feels less like a silent, mysterious protagonist and more like some mindless thing, just following whatever the game's script wants them to do. I don't feel a distinct personality, and I can't really insert any personality into that protagonist because, well, the game's not choice-driven, there's no unique action to do that'll deviate from what the characters expect you to do. I can't see us as anyone established in-universe because most characters Mob focused on had these colorful personalities I don't see through the main character. Throughout the game, mostly in Chapter 3, the most Mob gives us is that we caused a lot of these toys' suffering, but that's just about it. There should've been much more expansion on that in the latest chapter because we already knew that in the previous one. The characters themselves don't really react to our supposed apprehension and they don't really do anything to convince us to be on their side, there's just a short explanation and we're off to do whatever they want us to do. I just wish there was more flexibility, and maybe even have this game be completely choice-driven, giving us options on what to say, what to do, and even who to save. But I don't know, maybe Mob has an explanation as to why we're doing what we're doing and maybe we'll cause a surprise twist in the end. Although, even so, I do just wonder why it took us 10 years to do it until a note summons us to start the game. I feel like the game should've started maybe just a week or two after The Hour of Joy; a lot more enemies, maybe a couple of survivors, both toy and still-human, to team up with, things like that.
And since The Hour of Joy was 10 years ago, and so many people are confirmed to be dead, why hasn't there been an uproar about it? Maybe Playtime Co.'s experimentation was funded by the government, police force, and the FBI or something was told to guard its secrets and everything? But even that reasoning is flawed because Rowen, an I.T. guy for Playtime Co., tried to tell his mother to give information about the factory's secrets to the police, and Playtime Co. was QUICK to shut him up, so that would imply that the government/police don't know anything about this. So why hasn't anyone, like the families and loved ones of those people, contacted the police about this? There should have been a HUGE uprising about these mass disappearances, instead of it just being a rumor (with the note saying "Everyone thinks the staff disappeared 10 years ago.") So... did those peoples' families just go, "Oh no, they disappeared...anyway, you guys wanna get something to eat?" (Digital Circus ref lol). I HIGHLY doubt that especially since Playtime Co. was a beloved company that had appearances in the media (chapter 3 introduction).
I really think that right after The Hour of Joy, there's this whole containment of the factory with dozens of soldiers guarding the place and some going inside to investigate. But the toys manage to beat them back, so the government has no choice but to bomb the place or something. That's where we come in. We're still an ex-employee of Playtime Co., a scientist who discovered the horrors of the factory (much like the biologist) and wanted to report to the police, but after knowing what they'd do to us, we were forced to keep quiet. After each experiment, we're haunted with massive amounts of guilt every day, until one day we just couldn't show up to work. That's when the news erupts about the mass disappearances and the discovery of living toys in the factory trying to escape. There's news about the place being destroyed by a nuke, and we then think about the children's lives all cooped in there, waiting for freedom. So, we sneak by the forces and into the factory, determined to free our victims before the bomb goes off.
I dunno, just a thought. But maybe Mob will explain this as the game moves forward. That's why can't say these are my "locked-in" opinions about our character yet; they're completely temporary. Who knows, maybe the world is set in the apocalypse era, and that's why the government hasn't completely destroyed the place. The game isn't finished, so I'm more than willing to give the benefit of the doubt.
However, I can't say that for what I think about CatNap and the rest of chapter 3.
Now, I LOVE CatNap. His design is so well done and his characterization in Home Sweet Home was nearly flawless. Right off the bat, we know that he's someone who will use our minds and guilt against us. He's studying us to know how to break us (although it's hard to tell what actually affects us in this game because we literally do not react to anything). Furthermore, we see him stalking us a few times as we try to get out of Home Sweet Home, and that would imply that he knows what tools we use to keep ourselves safe (our gas mask and the grabpack - let me further emphasize grabpack because that is going to be very important for a point I'm gonna make later on). A literal predator hunting prey.
But I do think he was very underutilized after this. I do disagree with the fact that CatNap had to appear more often; however, I do think what would have made this up is his presence being more impactful throughout the game. This leads me to The Red Smoke - it doesn't make too much sense to me. It's used to put people to sleep, give them nightmares, and make them hallucinate, which is again established in Home Sweet Home. But after that, in smaller sections of the game, we just die if we inhale the smoke for too long. We were doused in for quite a while during the final fight, why wasn't that used to kill us then? Why didn't we instead hallucinate a path that completely lead us off track and into CatNap's claws? In fact, we don't get to see it very often throughout the chapter either; it should've been a main focal point. When I was dropped into Playcare, I saw this red light entrance that reminded me of the red smoke, I thought that could be an indicator that this environment would be filled to the brim with it and we can't ever tell what's real or not. Throughout all of it, flickers of our past would show up, making us more panicked and anxious. The chapter could've been all about paranoia and how to overcome it, trusting yourself to fight back against what's being brought upon you. But nah, we just die from it after Home Sweet Home. A major missed opportunity if you ask me...
With CatNap being underutilized, he doesn't do much after this. There could've been a few sequences where he'd use his red smoke to help the smaller antagonists, putting in more hints of who we are and even making the antagonists look more nightmarish. Maybe there could've been bigger toys that are the devoted followers of CatNap and ultimately The Prototype, giving this a more cult-like feel. More "heretics" like DogDay could be strung up in the prisons, with most of them either dead and in the process of being eaten or just have completely lost their mind, with DogDay being the only one who has some amount of sanity left. And because of this, we could even be given a chance to save him, just like we did with Poppy. If we drop down to the prisons, CatNap could find that we're intruding upon his home and send everyone, the mad heretics, and devoted followers, after us. If we do it quickly enough, we could free DogDay from his prison; although this would come with the price of carrying him and us being slower because of it. If we fail, then he becomes possessed by the miniature ruined critters, lost in the crowd of hunters. This event could show how CatNap runs the entire place.
But now for what I dislike most about this entire chapter...CatNap's big final fight. And no, my problem isn't that "it's too hard" or anything. I did feel that they explained it poorly, but that's not my main issue.
The issue is that it breaks CatNap's character.
Let me explain. After we get out of the Playhouse, Ollie calls us to rant about CatNap, explaining how there was an accident, The Prototype saved him, which then lead him to become a devout follower of The Prototype. Then he states this: "He'll take away anything you have to defend yourself."
...No he doesn't. He doesn't. Well, he takes away our gas mask, but that's it. Why didn't he take away our grabpack? What was stopping him from doing that? ESPECIALLY our green hand?
In the ARG, it was discovered that CatNap used to be a boy named Theodore, who was friends with The Prototype. One day, he took a grabpack upon The Prototype's request and used it to try to free him and the children. But being a literal novice, he accidentally shocks himself with the electric green hand and is brought to the brink of death, only to be revived by The Prototype and the scientists who turned him into CatNap. It's a small detail, but it has a huge impact on his background; you'd think such an event would cause him a lot of trauma, especially surrounding any sort of electricity and even grabpacks overall.
So why did he let us keep it???
He has very, very seen us not only with the green hand but also actively use it to complete puzzles and dive further into Playcare. Why would he let us utilize the weapon that almost killed him back when he was human? I don't believe he forgot about it, because remember the Huggy Wuggy YouTube video Mob put out? About the one where Huggy escapes and, at the end, is seen standing outside of a house? That implies that the toys have some sort of recollection of their past events. With something this big and traumatic happening to Theodore, I'm pretty sure he'd have no trouble remembering this, especially with him knowing and stating that The Prototype saved him, as said in the trailer for Chapter 3.
So I ask again. W h y did he let us use the grabpack??? And even more so, why did he follow us into a room that he knew had a bunch of green electricity? And I say 'knew' because it's canon that these characters have been wandering around the factory for 10 years. CatNap has resided in Playcare for 10 years, even including the years he spent with the orphans. So HO W did he not know this room was there???? It very clearly screams, "HEY SOMEONE CAN USE A GREEN HAND TO DEFEND THEMSELVES HERE." Also- the room itself doesn't make sense. Why does Playcare need a room that generates so much electricity just to emit some steam??
I haven't seen anyone point this out. I'd understand if the whole Theodore dying incident was forgotten because a lot of people did forget that we killed Huggy- but still, Mob should've known about this. They're the ones who wrote him to be this way!
Even removing this incident entirely, CatNap is still shown to be very incompetent for this because if you were hunting down someone and wanted to be this slow-burn kill kinda thing, why would you let them keep the VERY THING that is OBVIOUSLY the ONLY REASON why we're even doing anything in the factory, to begin with. We used it against Huggy Wuggy, we used it against Mommy Long Legs, the chapter could've been a bit more unique and taking the grabpack away from us so it can catch us off guard and make us feel powerless, but then we would learn that we don't need to depend on it.
Here's what I think should've happened: After the Playhouse, we're completely alone. No Ollie, no nobody. It's just us. We go back down underneath the statue and see that a big ol' blue battery and key's been sent our way, which then leads us to the Councilor's Office. We go inside, solve a few puzzles, get some chances to learn more lore (because let's be honest, the established lore of Poppy Playtime was just repeated in this chapter, just in a very gruesome way; we get it, we caused this, oh n o o, the children were used as experiments - thanks for telling us that The Prototype can mimic voices, that's actually very cool, but please just give us a little more than that, Mob). And then, all of a sudden, CatNap jumpscares us. When we wake up (there's no message from him telling us to get out of Playcare; love the chilling voice, but the line itself is pretty corny and we just end up not listening to him, also he should know that his god just kills anyone who tries to leave anyway, so this line serves 0 purpose), there's red smoke everywhere, and we find out that we're without our gas mask. All of the exits are boarded up, so we take the blue battery, activate the lift, and take it up to, not a steam room, but a monitor room. This room is absolutely destroyed, with claw marks ravishing the TVs and control systems, especially on the green electric outlets (or maybe there are none, hinting at CatNap's ultimate weakness). With more of our memories plaguing us, we're then led to the underground caverns, where CatNap is waiting to toy with his defenseless prey before the final strike.
.....Also, I just think the final fight's just incredibly lame. It serves very little connection to CatNap's character (apart from us launching our hand toward him and him freaking out over electricity, which again, is basically HIS OWN FAULT TO BEGIN WITH), and just overall so underwhelming. I did love how The Prototype carried him up into the light to show more religious undertones, it was awesome.
But, yeah, these are basically my thoughts. Chapter 3 was a huge step up from chapter 2 in terms of atmosphere, but there should've been more progression in the lore. Like they're just restating a bunch of stuff we already know but in a much more polished and horrific way. I'm glad they're not shying away from hiding events away from us, I did love how they just straight-up showed us The Hour of Joy tape, but underneath all the amazing animations and atmosphere, what did we learn in this chapter aside from The Prototype mimicking voices? We did get new characters, The Smiling Critters, Mrs. Delight, and Ollie, but all of the Smiling Critters and Mrs. Delight ended up dying anyway without really contributing much to the overall story. Aside from DogDay, who hinted at how absolutely insane this whole place and CatNap had become, but he and CatNap died anyway, so I felt like even that didn't serve too much of a purpose. And I hate to say that because DogDay and CatNap were my absolute favorites in this chapter. And Ollie just sorta told us what to do, we don't know anything about him and we're never given a chance to ask. Again, we're just following whatever the characters tell us to do.
Plus, didn’t mention this before but- a lot of the puzzles in chapter 3 did feel like they were just used to pad out time. In the words of Markiplier, “Just build stairs!!”
Overall, I do love Poppy Playtime, it has some really strong talent, but the writing does have some holes that feel quite easy to iron out. Maybe a lot of my temporary questions will be answered in later chapters, but for right now, I'd like to hear some of your guys' thoughts about this!

Here is my list of Florida's post Furman execution roster that I wrote for my personal death penalty project. To be clear, the dates given here are a loose timeframe of an offender's first known criminal activities (including misdemeanors and delinquent activities) to their executions, and not at all their years on death row. In a large number of death penalty cases, the offenders were committing high level felonies, even other murders in extreme cases like Ted Bundy, well before the murders that condemned them. I wanted to encapsulate the earlier known or suspected offenses in order to express the scope and scale of their crimes.
As a warning, due how the death penalty is utilized in the United States, many of the surveyed crimes are extremely graphic by nature. Please read at your own risk. On a different note, Florida is the last currently completed list. I'm still working on Texas, and as of now finished 484 entries out of the state's 587 cases to date.
As with my lists for Missouri, Virginia, and Oklahoma, reddit's character limitations forced me to split Florida's roster into two parts. Here is the link to part 2.
The currently 105 executed offenders, cases 1 to 52:
1. John Spenkelink (~1972-1979, electric chair): While on the run after escaping from a Californian prison, Spenkelink picked up 45 year old Joseph Szymankiewicz while he was hitchhiking. Like Spenkelink, Szymankiewicz was a career criminal, and had a conviction for murdering a owner of a furniture store during a robbery. They went on a nationwide crime spree together, but Spenkelink shot Szymankiewicz and disemboweled him with a hatchet while he was asleep in a hotel room. He claimed that the killing was done to protect himself from a sexual assault and being forced to play Russian Roulette, but this was rejected by the courts. Spenkelink had several previous convictions of armed robberies, some of which he was serving when he escaped from California.
2. Robert Sullivan (1973-1983, electric chair): Sullivan and his accomplice abducted 38 year old Donald Schmidt from a Howard Johnson's he managed. They bound Schmidt's hands behind his back, and drove him to a remote swamp in the Everglades. He was beaten with a tire iron and shot four times in the head. The pair then took Schmdit's watch and his credit cards from his body.
3. Anthony Antone (~1970s-1984, electric chair): Antone, a high ranking mobster, was hired by a crime boss to arrange the murder of Richard Cloud, a 33 year old private detective. He arranged for two of his associates to gun down Cloud on his own front porch. Although he wasn't directly present at the crime itself, Antone bore the harshest penalties due to his employer and one of his triggermen committing suicide in custody and the surviving triggerman agreeing to testify against him.
4. Arthur Goode III (~1960s-1984, electric chair): Goode lured 9 year old Jason VerDow into a forest, and raped and strangled him to death. The next day, he abducted Billy Arthe, a 10 year old Guatemalan immigrant, and took him on a journey to Washington D.C. On their way through Virginia, Goode kidnapped 11 year old Kenny Dawson. Both boys were sexually abused, and he strangled Dawson to death with a belt in front of Arthe. Arthe was rescued when a passing woman recognized him from the news coverages. Good was notorious for being a shameless pedophile who openly flaunted and defended his predations of young boys to any listening ears. When he acted as his own attorney during the proceedings for VerDow's murder, Goode's defense entirely hinged on pedophila apologetics and advocacy. He started victimizing younger boys in his early teens, and dealt with several accusations of sexual assault throughout high school. His execution was somewhat controversial, as Goode was cognitively disabled and had the mentality of a young child.
5. James Adams (~1962-1984, electric chair): During a burglary of a ranch, Adams beat the owner, 61 year old Edgar Brown, to death with a firepoker stick. Several of the undisclosed items Adams stole in the robbery were discovered in his wife's car. Prior to the murder, Adams had a rape conviction that gave him a 99 year sentence, but he managed to escape from prison.
6. Carl Shriner (~1962-1984, electric chair): Shriner shot and killed Judith Carter, a 32 year old clerk, while robbing a convenience store. He was involved with petty crimes since he was 8 years old, and Shriner was on parole for armed robbery at the time of the murder.
7. David Washington (1976-1984, electric chair): Washington started his crime spree by fatally stabbing a minister, 69 year old Daniel Pridgen, during a robbery of his home. A few days later, he broke into a home that had 64 year old Katrina Birk and her 3 sister in laws inside. He tied up all four women, and stabbed and shot them. Birk was killed, but her sister in laws survived with crippling injuries. The day after Birk's murder, Washington and his accomplices kidnapped 20 year old Frank Meli from a university, tied him to a bed, and tried extorting a ransom from his family. When that failed, he stabbed his captive to death. In his 10 day long murder and robbery spree, Washington stole jewelry, a car, an undisclosed amount of some money from Pridgen, and $8 from Birk and her sister in laws.
8. Ernest Dobbert Jr. (1972-1984, electric chair): Dobbert routinely tortured his children with beatings, poking their eyes with his fingers, dunking their heads in bathtubs, and burnings with cigarette lighters. Two of them, 9 year old Kelly and 7 year old Ryder, were strangled to death during one of his daily beatings and torture sessions.
9. James Henry (~1965-1984, electric chair): Henry invaded the home of Zellie Riley, a 81 year old Civil Rights activist. He tied up and gagged Riley, slit his throat with a razor blade, and stole $64. A few days later, Henry shot and wounded detective Ronald Ferguson in a confrontation. He previously shot and injured a man in one incident and non fatally stabbed a man in another, and alleged in both cases that the circumstances were self defense. However, the apparent victims made identical claims that Henry was trying to rob them.
10. Timothy Palmes (1976-1984, electric chair): Palmes used his girlfriend to lure her employer, a 41 year old furniture store owner named James Stone, to her apartment and knocked him unconscious with a hammer. Palmes and his other accomplice, Ronald Straight, bound him with wire and locked Stone in a wooden box they specifically made for him. They tortured their captive by slowly cutting his fingers off, and stabbed him 18 times with a machete and knife. The trio dumped Stone's body (which was still trapped in the box) into a river and stole his watch, car, and $2,800 from his store. Palmes tried to blame the killing entirely on his girlfriend, but she was granted immunity in exchange for testifying against him and Straight.
11. James Raulerson (1975-1985, electric chair): Raulerson and his accomplice robbed a restaurant at gunpoint, and raped one of the female employees. When the responding officers arrived at the scene, the pair engaged in a shootout with them. Both Raulerson's accomplice and a policeman, 23 year old Michael Stewart, were killed in the skirmish.
12. Johnny Witt (1973-1985, electric chair): Witt and his accomplice frequently stalked random people they could in the woods, as they were thrilled by the prospect of hunting other human beings. On a whim, the pair ambushed 11 year old Jonathan Kushner while he was riding his bike. They incapacitated Kushner by hitting him in the head with a drill star bit and gagged him. After they tossed him in the back of their truck, Kushner suffocated on the gag. Witt and his accomplice then cut the boy's stomach open to prevent bloating, engaged in intercourse with his body, and buried Kushner in a shallow grave.
13. Marvin Francois (1977-1985, electric chair): During what is now called the "Carol City massacre", Francois and two other men, Beauford White and John Ferguson, forced their way into a drug house. They tied up the 8 men and women inside (who were all between 24-45 years old), and shot them all in the head. Only two of the victims, 45 year old Johnnie Hall and 24 year old Margaret Wooden, survived. A total of $800 was stolen in the attack. Accomplice Ferguson (who was executed in 2013) also committed a series of unrelated murders that Francois wasn't involved with. These crimes are discussed in depth under Ferguson’s section (case 78) in Part 2 of this list.
14. Daniel Thomas (1976-1986, electric chair): Thomas and his accomplices, dubbed the "Ski Mask Gang" by the media, went on a rampage that involved the burglaries of 16 homes and the rapes of 5 women. The husband of one of those women, 49 year old Charles Anderson, was shot dead in an attempt to protect her. Other murders attributed to the Gas Mask Gang include 20 year old Henry Kersey (shot to death while trying to defend his wife, who was then tossed off a bridge) and 70 year old Tessie Henderson (succumbed to injuries received in a beating). Another woman was blinded after members of the Ski Mask Gang poured liquid plumber into her eyes.
15. David Funchess (1973-1986, electric chair): Fuchess was fired from a liquor store due to the owners suspecting him of stealing money. A year later, he assaulted his former workplace with a knife. He stabbed two employees, 62 year old Bertha McLeod and 52 year old Anna Waldrop, and a customer, 56 year old Clayton Ragan. Waldrop and Ragan were killed at the scene, while McLeod died from complications relating to her injuries two years after the attack. Fuchess left the store with several canceled checks that total around $6,000. He had several misdemeanors and minor felonies on his previous record that included theft, loitering, obstructing traffic, public intoxication, and disturbing the peace. Fuchess also attracted some public sympathy due to him being a Vietnam combat veteran that was diagnosed with PTSD.
16. John Straight (1976-1986, electric chair): As mentioned in Timothy Palmes' section, Straight took part in the torture murder of David Stone, and the robbery of his furniture store.
17. Beauford White (~1963-1987, electric chair): White was another participant in the "Carol City massacre" that the previously mentioned Marvin Francois was involved in. He had a lengthy criminal history dating back to the 1960s, and one of his past convictions was related to an attempted rape.
18. Willie Darden (~1970s-1988, electric chair): Darden was convicted of the shooting death of 54 year old James Turman and the non fatal shooting of a 16 year old neighbor while robbing Turman's Furniture Store. Turman's wife was also raped in the robbery. Some supporters had citied that he was tried by an all white jury, and used it to push a narrative that Darden, a black man, was condemned out of racism. He had several previous convictions, which included assault, forgery, theft, and the attempted rape of a 70 year old woman. Darden was on furlough for the latter conviction during the time of Turman's murder.
19. Jeffrey Daugherty (1976-1988, electric chair): While on a road trip with his uncle and girlfriend, Daugherty murdered at least 4 women and one man, 68 year old Carmen Abrams, 50 year old Betty Campbell, 49 year old Lavonne Sailer, 28 year old Elizabeth Shank, and 18 year old George Karns. The victims were slain through either shootings or stabbings at grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants they worked at, but Sailer was attacked while hitchhiking. Daugherty mostly murdered for personal enjoyment, but he often stole coins, clothes, and watches from the victims.
20. Theodore Bundy (~1970s(?)-1989, electric chair): Across multiple states, Bundy kidnapped, raped, and murdered a bare minimum of ~20-36 females between the ages of 12-26. Although his true body count is uncertain and heavily disputed, most experts agree that it well exceeds official estimates. Bundy's abduction tactics were diverse, and ranged from grabbing targets by force, pretending to be a cripple in need of help, posing as emergency workers, seduction, and luring them in through hitchhiking. On some occasions, Bundy broke into the residences of victims, and assaulted them in their bedrooms. After an abduction, the victims were bound with handcuffs, raped while they were alive, and he engaged in acts of necrophila with their bodies. Most of his killing methods were strangulations with cords or beatings with tire irons and other blunt instruments. Several victims were also decapitated, and he kept their heads as trophies. Bundy disposed of corpses by dumping them in deserts, mountains, swamps, and other remote wilderness environments accessible to him.
21. Aubrey Adams Jr. (1978-1989, electric chair): Adams lured 8 year old Trisa Thomley into his car by offering her a ride home from school. He tied the girl up and dragged her to a remote forest. She was then raped and suffocated with a plastic bag.
22. Jesse Tafero (~1960s-1990, electric chair): A pair of patrolmen, 39 year old Phillip Black and 39 year old Donald Irwin (who was also a Canadian constable), found Tafero sleeping in his car with his wife, their children (which consisted of a 9 year old son and a 10 month old daughter), and a friend. What exactly occurred next is heavily disputed, but Tafero or his friend shot both officers dead, after they noticed a gun on the dashboard and asked the group to climb out. The group then fled in a police car, disposed of it, and kidnapped a man to carjack him. Tafero's execution was controversial, as his head caught on fire during the electrocution, and his supporters cited evidence of his friend (who was sentenced to life, but was released in 1994 on good behavior) being the triggerman in the shootings. He also had a long history of armed robbery, rape, and sodomy. Tafero's wife was initially condemned for the murder, but her sentence was reduced to 25 years to life on appeal in 1981, and was released with an Alford Plea in 1992.
23. Anthony Bertolotti (1983-1990, electric chair): Bertolotti enticed 46 year old Carol Ward into his home with the promise of helping her make a phone call. He held Ward at knife point, demanded money, and raped her. She was stabbed to death during the assault, and Bertolotti drove away with her car. In the trial, Bertolotti alleged that Ward offered him sex in exchange for stopping the robbery, and used it to claim that his angry girlfriend made him kill her for it.
24. James Hamblen (1984-1990, electric chair): Hamblen shot and killed 34 year old Laureen Edwards during a robbery of her store. Despite forcing Edwards to disrobe, Hamblen left he unmolested. He then fled to Texas and quickly started a relationship with 20 year old Debbie Abbott. A month later, Hamblen shot Abbott dead during a heated argument.
25. Raymond Clark (~1964-1990, electric chair): In 1964, Clark beat Marshell Taylor, his landlord's 14 year old son that he groomed and abused, to death with a pipe. After his parole at an undisclosed date in the 70s, Clark groomed another 14 year old boy into an illicit relationship. He recruited him in the abduction of David Drake, a 49 year scrap dealer. With the boy's help, he kidnapped their victim at gunpoint with the intentions of ransoming him back to his family. The pair forced Drake to write them a $5,000 check, and shot him in the head. When he wasn't able to cash in the check, Clark dropped his accomplice off at his home to avoid being charged with the boy's kidnapping, fled to California, and tried to trick Drake's family into paying his ransom. However, a series of calls was traced to his accomplice, and he implicated Clark to the police.
26. Roy Harich (1981-1991, electric chair): Harich kidnapped two teenage girls, 18 year old Carlene Kelly and 17 year old Deborah Miller, after luring them into his van from a beach. The pair were then both sexually assaulted. He shot Kelly dead, slit Miller's throat, and dumped them on a highway. Miller survived the attack and dragged herself to safety.
27. Bobby Francis (~1970s-1991, electric chair): Suspecting him of being a police informant against his drug trafficking enterprise, Francis abducted 35 year old Titus Walters. He tied him up and forcibly injected drano and battery acid into his body for a span of two hours. Despite Walters' pleas for his life, Francis shot him in the head and heart.
28. Nollie Martin (1977-1992, electric chair): Martin and his accomplice robbed a convenience store at knifepoint, stole $90, and kidnapped the clerk, 19 year old Patricia Greenfield. She was then raped and stabbed to death by her captors.
29. Edward Kennedy (~1977-1992, electric chair): In 1977, Kennedy and some partners shot and killed 33 year old Robert Brown, during a robbery of a motel. He was given a life sentence for the murder. Four years later, Kennedy escaped from prison. While on the run, he broke into a house in hopes of stealing money and guns. The homeowner, 32 year old Floyd Cone Jr. returned home with his cousin, 35 year old Robert McDermon (who worked as a state trooper), and unwittingly intercepted Kennedy. He shot them both dead, fled to a neighboring home, and took a 21 year old woman and her 4 month old son hostage. After a hour long standoff, Kennedy released his captives and surrendered himself to the police.
30. Robert Henderson (~1964-1998, electric chair): In December of 1982, Henderson went on a month long rampage across 6 states. He raped, robbed, and murdered a total of 12 people between the ages of 11-79 through shootings. Three of the victims where his wife's parents, 61 year old Ivan and 57 year old Marie Barnett, and her 11 year old brother Clifford. A few other victims were women, like 50 year old Dorothy Wilkinson, 37 year old Cheryl McDonald, 30 year old Jerilyn Stanfield, and 21 year old Lucinda Russell, that were kidnapped from their workplaces and homes and raped. A couple more were men, such as 79 year old Murray Ferderbe and 61 year old Sam Corrent, that he killed while robbing their homes and businesses. Henderson's last remaining murders were a trio of hitchhikers, 27 year old Vernon Odom, 23 year old Frances Dickey, and 18 year old Robert Dawson, that he killed together. Last but not least, Henderson bound an unidentified woman and her 12 year old daughter at gunpoint during a break in of their home. After Henderson raped the mother, he tried to do the same to her daughter. The mother then broke free from her restraints, and chased him away from her home. Contemporary media reports noted that the mother "fought harder for her daughter then she did for herself." Henderson had prior convictions of growing marijuana, assaulting officers, and stealing license plates.
31. Larry Johnson (1979-1993, electric chair): During the robbery of a gas station, Johnson shot and killed the clerk, 67 year old James Hadden. Like David Funchess, Johnson enjoyed a considerable amount of public sympathy due to him being a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
32. Michael Durocher (1983-1993, electric chair): In 1983, Durocher made an agreement with his girlfriend, 31 year old Grace Reed, to conduct a murder-suicide pact involving her 5 year old daughter Candace and their 6 month old son Joshua. Although he shot and stabbed them all to death, Durocher backed out of his end of the pact. He later shot dead 27 year old Thomas Underwood while robbing a decorating story in 1986, and beat his roommate, 38 year old Edward Childers, to death during an argument in 1988.
33. Roy Stewart (1978-1994, electric chair): 77 year old Margaret Haizlip invited Stewart into her home. When she caught Stewart stealing a gold watch from her medicine drawer, Haizlip tried to evict him. In the confrontation, Stewart raped and strangled her to death with an electrical cord. Her body was found with 8 broken ribs, a fractured larynx, bite marks on her thighs and breasts, several contusions, and a torn vagina.
34. Bernard Bolender (~1970s-1995, electric chair): In a drug deal gone wrong, Bolender and two accomplices abducted their dealers, 39 year old John Merino, 38 year old Rudy Ayan, 33 year old Nicomedes Hernandez, and 25 year old Scott Bennett, at gunpoint, and robbed them of their jewelry. All four men were beaten with baseball bats, stabbed, and burned with heated knifes to extort an additional source of cocaine from them. Most of the hostages died in the 2 hour long torture session, but Merino was still alive when Bolender burned him and the other hostages' bodies in a car. Although most of his criminal history is murky, Bolender was heavily involved in the drug trade during the 1970s at the bare minimum.
35. Jerry White (~1962-1995, electric chair): White robbed a grocery store, and held the owner, 53 year old Alex Alexander, and a trio of customers (which consisted of 34 year old James Melson, an unidentified man, and the man's 12 year old daughter) at gunpoint. He shot and killed Melson, wounded Alexander, and tried forcing the father and daughter into a freezer. When the pair refused, White tried to shot them, but his gun misfired. The man and his daughter were able to flee with their lives and called the police, while White ran off with $338. White had 9 previous convictions, which included attempted murder, armed robbery, theft, and burglary, and was first arrested at the age of 14.
36. Phillip Atkins (1981-1995, electric chair): Atkins kidnapped 6 year old Antonio Castillo and molested him in a forest. When Castillo threatened to tell his parents about the abuse, Atkins bludgeoned him to death with a pipe.
37. John Bush (~1970s-1996, electric chair): Bush and three other men kidnapped 18 year old Frances Slater from a gas station she worked as a clerk at. They stabbed her to death and stole $100 from the register. Slater's murder attracted national attention due to her being the granddaughter and heiress of renowned singer Frances Langford and the outboard motor mongrel Ralph Evinrude. Bush's previous convictions include rape and robbery.
38. John Mills Jr. (1982-1996, electric chair): Mills and his accomplice tied up and abducted 30 year old Les Lawhon after ransacking his trailer for any valuables. They took him to a nearby abandoned airport to hideout. Lawhon then was beaten with a tire iron and shot in the head execution style.
39. Pedro Medina (1982-1997, electric chair): Medina tied up and gagged 52 year old Dorothy James in her home. He stabbed her to death and stole her car, which he was captured sleeping in by investigating police officers. His execution was a source of controversy, as Medina's head burst into flames as he was electrocuted on the chair. Medina's case and similar incidents led to Florida gradually phasing out of the electric chair in favor of lethal injection.
40. Gerald Stano (~1960s-1998, electric chair): Stano was convicted of murdering 22 women and girls between the ages of 12-35, though he admitted to 41, and is suspected of a total of 88 killings. His victims were all lured with promises of rides, payment for sexual favors, or abducted through force. The methods he used were diverse, and included drownings, shootings, stabbings, and strangulations. Most of the sources noted that none of his victims were raped, and that Stano seemed to have murdered out of an enjoyment for killing. As a child, Stano was charged with fasley pulling fire alarms at school and throwing rocks at cars. He was also fired for stealing from coworkers in one of his jobs.
41. Leo Jones (1981-1998, electric chair): Supposedly out of revenge for being brutalized by policemen, Jones was convicted of killing Thomas Szafranski, a 28 year old officer, in a sniper attack. Szafranski was driving his patrol car when he was ambushed and murdered. His execution was contested, as Jones claimed that he was coerced into confessing by investigators through beatings, and one of the apparent witnesses allegedly recounted his testimony.
42. Judy Buenoano (~1957-1998, electric chair): Over the course of 11 years, Buenoano poisoned her husband, 32 year old James Goodyear, her son, 19 year old Michael, and her boyfriend, 39 year old Bobby Morris with arsenic to collect their life insurance policies. She also made an attempt to poison another boyfriend after he was injured in a suspicious explosion, but was foiled by a police investigation. As a young girl, Buenoano assaulted her father, stepmother, and stepbrothers, and served a two month sentence for it.
43. Daniel Remeta (1985-1998, electric chair): Remeta and his accomplices shot and killed 5 people, 60 year old Mehrle Reeder, 55 year old Glenn Moore, 42 year old Linda Marvin, 29 year old John Schroeder, and 27 year old Larry McFarland, across Kansas, Arkansas, and Florida. The victims were all murdered in convenience store, restaurant, and gas station robberies.
44. Allen Davis (~1970s-1999, electric chair): Davis broke into a home with the intentions of raping 9 year old Kristina Weiler. Although no sexual assault occurred, Davis tied Kristina up and shot her in the head. He also struck her pregnant mother, 37 year old Nancy, 25 times on her head and face with his pistol, and left the body "bruised beyond recognition." When Kristina's sister, 5 year old Katherine, tried to escape, Davis shot and bludgeoned her to death. He then sacked the home for any belongings. Davis was a long time felon, and had several previous convictions of burglary, child molestation, and involuntary manslaughter. His execution caused significant controversy, as his nose bled all over his body during the fatal shocks, and he suffered burns to his legs, head, and groin. The backlash, combined with other botched incidents like Pedroa Medina and Jesse Tafero, resulted in Florida replacing the electric chair with lethal injection.
45. Terry Sims (1977-2000, lethal injection): George Pfeil, a 57 year old deputy and WW2 veteran, walked into a pharmacy that Sims and his 3 accomplices were robbing, to pick up a prescription. Upon seeing what was happening, Pfeil pulled out his gun and engaged the robbers, but was killed by them in the shootout. Although Sims was injured, he managed to escape the scene, and was captured a month later while trying to carry out another robbery in California.
46. Anthony Bryan (1983-2000, lethal injection): Bryan and his accomplice kidnapped a night watchman, 60 year old George Wilson, and used his keys to rob a bank he guarded. They drove Wilson to a remote forest and shot him in the head. The pair dumped his body in a creek and drove their car into a lake to destroy any evidence.
47. Bennie Demps (~1971-2000, lethal injection): Demps received his first death sentence in 1971 when he shot and killed a real estate agent, 54 year old Robert Brinkworth, and his client, 64 year old Celia Puhlick, while the victims were trying to engage in a house sale. He also wounded Celia's husband, 62 year old Nicholas, and stole a safe from the house. However, his first death sentence was lifted from the brief nationwide capital punishment ban from the Furman decision. Two years after his first death sentence was commuted, Demps was given a second death sentence when he fatally stabbed another inmate, 23 year old Alfred Sturgis, on the behalf of the Perjury Incorporated prison gang. Sturgis was in prison for murder, and he was targeted due to Perjury Incorporated's suspicions of him of being an informant.
48. Thomas Provenzano (1984-2000, lethal injection): In retaliation for being charged for disorderly conduct months earlier, Provenzano stormed a courthouse, and shot and killed Arnold Wilkerson, a 60 year old deputy that was a veteran of WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, on the scene. Two more policemen, 53 year old Harry Dalton Jr. and 19 year old Mark Parker, were also hit by gunfire, and they both died from complications relating to their injuries years after the attack.
49. Dan Hauser (1995-2000, lethal injection): Out of a desire to kill somebody, Huser enticed a stripper, 21 year old Melanie Rodrigues, into a motel room with the promise of payment for sexual services. After they had intercourse, he strangled her to death. Hauser was also caught stealing a truck months before the murder.
50. Edward Castro (1986-2000, lethal injection): Castro lured three homosexual men, 57 year old Austin Scott, 50 year old George Hill, and 46 year old Claude Henderson, from gay bars. The victims were all tied up and stabbed to death in their homes. After each killing, Castro left with valuables such as cars, watches, rings, money, and wallets.
51. Robert Glock II (1983-2001, lethal injection): Glock kidnapped 34 year old Sharilyn Ritchie from a mall parking lot and forced her to withdraw $100 from an ATM. He then drove Ritchie to a forest 60 miles away and shot her in the head. Ritchie's wedding ring and purse was also stolen in the attack.
52. Rigoberto Sanchez-Velasco (1986-2002, lethal injection): Sanchez-Velasco raped and fatally strangled Katixa Ecenarro, his girlfriend's 11 year old daughter. While awaiting execution for Ecenarro's murder, Sanchez-Velasco got into a fight with fellow condemned inmates, 41 year old Charles Street and 30 year old Edwin Kaprat, and stabbed them both to death. Kaprat received a death sentence for the sexual abuse and torture-killings of 4 elderly women, while Street was sentenced to death for the shooting murders of two police officers.

Back in the pre-2010's, my uncle was a professional artist who worked with a number of different companies. Every Christmas he would give me something from a company he worked with, which led to me having hundreds of Maplestory cards but also like 4 books from this cool series for young girls. The premise was that each book revolved around one main character, a preteen girl, and all four of these girls knew eachother. The unifying feature was a superpower of some sort that they discover in themselves by accident. Unfortunately I don't remember what any of those powers were. It was definitely more "slice of life" than fantasy, and it wasn't a graphic novel or comic book. They had normal preteen girl lives and the events were things like, having a crush on a boy and going to school and stuff like that. I remember the first two main characters being a girl with Asian-American heritage and a white girl with red or brown hair I believe but I don't remember who was the first MC in the series. There might have been something like a magical item involved but I can't recall that either. I do not have the option of contacting my uncle. It's just been driving me crazy because I loved those books. TIA!

I was watching a playthrough of 2018 a couple of months ago (watching others play is a good way of seeing the story through the eyes of other people, and gaining perspective into details you might have missed) and I had a thought concerning the timeline of events that spun into trying to fill in the gaps of the Norse Timeline.
I've been trying to figure out when exactly Jörmungandr arrived in the Lake of Nine. We know that as soon as the younger Serpent arrived in the Lake, Asgard sensed its arrival and Thor attacked. However, as of this point, Thor wasn't strong enough to beat Jörmungandr outright, and the battle ended in a stalemate. We know that this had to be after Thor recieved Mjölnir, which was officially 199 years BF (Before Fimbulwinter), because in order to fight the serpent Thor would need the ability to fly above the Lake like we saw in Ragnarök.
The player passed by the statue of Thor (before going to Alfheim for the first time), and that brought a question to mind: "would the World Serpent have really just sat there and watched while it was being built?" It'd be the equivalent of you just watching supporters of the murderer who killed your family erect a statue of their likeness in your front yard.
Now, why is the statue itself important? It could have just been built before Jörmungandr arrived in the past, and that would solve this issue. Remember the purpose of the statue. Ostensibly, Odin had it built specifically to contain Mimir's left eye after he felt he'd been betrayed, which happened 109 years BF. Mimir speaks of the statue as if he was free and present for its creation, though admittedly it could also be that Odin was just giving him updates here and there. And, of course we know that Jörmungandr had to have been around before Mimir was imprisoned because he implies that they've talked several times, and he knew how to use the horn.
Beyond that, could Jörmungandr have sat still and watched while an army of Aesir attacked Týr's temple in the Lake of Nine, in 139 BF? This is where the Raven Keeper comes in handy, because she leaves a note saying that such an action was ill-advised, specifically because Jörmungandr was around, but that they also wouldn't need to destroy the temple itself because the snake's presence and growth had submerged it. This tells us that Jörmungandr had to have come to the Lake of Nine after the Aesir (likley including Thor) attacked the Temple and imprisoned Týr, 139 years BF.
You see my dilemma. Jörmungandr could have arrived in Midgard anywhere between 139 BF and 109 BF, and his arrival is strangely missing from the official timeline even though Mimir would have been there to see it. I've managed to narrow it down to a span of 30 years, but if anyone has any other details they've found (or ideas to discuss that disprove my theory entirely, I'm not picky) I'd really appreciate the help.
One idea I had, which I'm not sold on, is that Thor's statue could have been built after Brok and Sindri split, and before Mimir was imprisoned. Brok and Sindri imply that Odin visited them separately, which could imply that they had already had their fight. This gives a span of two years, between the time the Huldra Brothers separated in 111 BF, and the time Mimir was imprisoned in 109 BF. Odin could have decided a couple of years in advance that he wanted to take Mimir's eye, and had the statue made in 111 BF. Jörmungandr could have appeared in 110 BF, and had his fight with Thor, giving time for he and Mimir to speak a few times and have the Horn installed on the Temple. Then in 109 BF, Mimir would have been imprisoned and had his eye removed. It's not a clean explanation, but it at least explains why Jörmungandr didn't stop the statue from being built.

Another less important question that may be answered if they release a new lorebook for Ragnarök, concerns the ages of Freya, Freyr, and Týr.
We don't have an exact year for when the Long War started (only that it was "a really long time ago" according to the timeline and that it went on for "centuries"), however Freya and Freyr were likely at least in their late teens when it started, as by that time they were already propped up as leaders of the Vanir, and we know that they were being made to lead while they were young. Realistically, I feel they were probably in their 20's or 30's when the war officially began, because Freyr had his Sabbatical in Alfheim to quell their tensions and came back when the war was about to begin, and more importantly because Freya claimed that Freyr was the most important person to her for "half" of her life. Baldur, clearly, was the other half, and he was alive for 144 years. If the two are roughly in, say, their early to mid 300s, that could account for these details.
What does that say about Týr, though? While he's often seen as a son of Odin (along with Thor, Baldur, and Heimdall), and I typically call him as such out of habit, it's actually unconfirmed if this is the case in GoW and I'm inclined to believe it isn't. We don't have any parentage to suggest anything definitive. We do know, however, that Týr's Temple has been around for a long time. Since some time before the Long War, and before distrust and fear separated the Realms and led them to this lasting conflict. In order to ensure the cooperation of all realms, Týr's reputation had to have already been established as someone trustworthy who would fight for peace. Beyond that, though, I'm lacking details.
I've been in the lore of this series for years, and there's still stuff I miss. So I was wondering if anyone noticed some context I didn't that could give some more clarity.

Some other notes that may be worth discussing:
• The captain of the Hel-Walkers we put to rest around the lake after the water drops claims that their ship was torn apart in the midst of a storm. The captain believes it was Thor's judgement, but it could have just been a regular storm. Even if it was Thor's doing, I doubt he even realized they were there. But, what if it was Thor? This happened before Jörmungandr grew to the point that the waters flooded the entire lake, and we know that after he appeared, Thor arrived and clashed with him in a battle that was felt throughout the realms. What if this specific battle was the storm that tore the crew apart? At this point in time, Thor was unable to beat Jörmungandr and instead ended their fight in a stalemate. This has major implications for the timeline as the crew returned as Hel-Walkers, something that only plagued Midgard after the beginning of the Desolation, which started between 119 years BF when Odin put the Valkyries into physical form, after Freya tried to leave Asgard and was banished to Midgard, and 19 years BF when Hel was officially full up and someone (probably Hræsvelgr) had the doors shut. Which, incidentally, is the main issue keeping me from being more sure about this. Unless we assume Freya tried to communicate with Jörmungandr, she seems a bit too well-informed about his nature (though admittedly, she never mentioned that he was from the future like Mimir does later, and claims not to know where he came from). Another note is that the Captain's ambition was to find a path to Jötunheim. Realm travel to Jötunheim from the Temple was disabled by Týr 169 years BF, and the giants disabled the last bridge on the mountain 112 years BF. If the Captain's ambition was to search, that implies realm travel was already locked. I feel that there are a few crucial pieces to narrow this down that I'm still missing. For instance, I doubt that Jörmungandr grew enough in 19 years for the water he displaced to cover up all of those shipwrecks.
• Mimir claims that the massacre of the Jötun took place over "the better part of 60 winters," which lines up pretty neatly with the timeline from Lore and Legends, which states that Thor started 174 years BF and the giants left 112 years BF, with two years missing after Kratos arrived in the Northlands and the two-year winter began which caused Odin to have the Aesir cease their operations in the other realms.
• When did Gröa die? Mimir speaks about her as if he'd known her and was there to see Odin kill her, and it's implied that this was the trigger for the Jötun genocide because Odin found out about the prophecy of Ragnarök. If this is true, and Thor started his rampage around 174 years BF (25 years after receiving the hammer) it can be assumed that Gröa was killed between 199 and 174 years BF.
• When did the Vanir retreat from Midgard? As far as we know, the Vanir were still active in Midgard and supporting the Jötun for some time after Freya's banishment. We know this based on the lore recording how Magni and Modi killed Nerthus (who, potentially, was the mother of Freya and Freyr as she has heavy association with their father Njörd, or she could just be a second name of Njörd, the myth is unclear) in the mountain, witnessed by the last giants shortly before their battered retreat to Jötunheim in 112 BF. We can assume that at this point, the brothers were roughly in their early-to-mid teens, based on Sif's claim that they were already on their path by the time they were Thrúd's age. - actually, upon further research, it's likely that Nerthus and the other Vanir in Midgard simply couldn't retreat and were trapped. The Raven Keeper left another note claiming that Odin sealed travel to and from Vanaheim before the massacre of the Midgard giants was complete. Sealed, at least, from all but Odin's own forces. It's then possible that these Vanir stragglers weren't especially concerned with defending the giants, but sought shelter with them instead. Travel to and from Vanaheim would have needed to be sealed after Freya was banished to Midgard, because she was trying to abandon Asgard and return home when she was caught, so during or after 119 BF. I would say after as Freyr never claimed that he couldn't travel the other realms in search of Freya after she was banished when she believed she was abandoned, while Freyr himself decided to stay in Vanaheim to fight Aesir occupation under the assumption that Freya was dead.
• How old is Thor? Originally, I assumed him to be around the same age as Freya and Freyr if not a bit older, but after a conversation with another redditor I had to do a complete reevaluation of my assumptions based on two things: - There is a lore marker that implies that Thor's mother, the giantess Fjörgyn, actually died during childbirth. - Mimir speaks of Odin and Fjörgyn as if he was both around to see them happy in their relationship, and Odin's terrible loneliness after her death. Mimir also claims that he doesn't know how Fjörgyn died, but that some blamed Thor for the event, which could also provide more context for Odin's treatment of Thor. At that rate, Mimir also claims that the abusive way Magni and Modi were raised by Thor and Sif was a mirror of the abusive way Thor was raised by Odin, which implies that he was around to watch Thor grow up. These details together imply that Thor is actually significantly younger than Freya and Freyr, and was born after the beginning of the Long War. The Timeline isn't specific about how long it was between the start of the War and when Mimir arrived in the Northlands, or between Mimir's arrival and when Mjölnir was created, only that it was a "a long time ago" and "a really long time ago." If we assume that these gaps are roughly 50 years (under the assumption that Freya and Freyr are less than 350 years old), we could safely place Thor in a 250 to 215 range. I think that before obtaining Mjölnir he would need to be in his early to mid teens at least, based on Thrud, Magni and Modi getting started in combat around that same age.
• When did the current regime begin? We don't have anything concrete for how long the Aesir, and Odin specifically, have been in power. We know that the Northlands, and Hel specifically, have been in place for at least 100,000 years, based on Mimir's claim that Máttugr Helson kept the living out of Hel's inner sanctum for "1,000 mortal lifetimes." However, that doesn't mean that Odin, Asgard, or other realms were in place the same way they are now. I hypothesize that at the very least, Ymir was killed roughly 1,019 years BF. In Atreus' recording of the timeline, he claims that for 1,000 years before Hel was at capacity, every soul that didn't die a glorious death was conscripted into Hel's army, which could imply that the current Valhalla system is relatively recent, assuredly starting since the creation of Asgard and Valhalla itself by extension. We know that potentially several realms, but only Asgard and Midgard for certain, were fashioned from Ymir's corpse after he was slain by Odin using Gungnir (which confirms the existence of Ivaldi and the other Dwarves by extension, potentially before Nidavellir and the realm existed). Is this when Odin began to control death? When exactly did the Valkyrie system come into place? Assumedly, it was first headed by Vanir gods and mortals while working under Freya, who was in turn working under Odin at the time. But then, what preceeded that arrangement? For the roughly 880 years prior, who was sorting those souls? More clues I'm missing.
• When Freya spoke of Freyr's first to Alfheim, she claims it was during the beginning of Realm Travel. To this, Mimir is surprised and says that means it was a "bit" before his time in the Northlands. Mimir found his way to the Northlands over 200 years BF, but after the beginning of the Long War which has an unspecified date. The Long War began sometime after Freyr tried to teach agriculture magic to the Aesir as a peace offering, and a mob of lesser Aesir set him on fire when they messed it up, under the assumption of sabotage. This means that the giant Gerð arrived in Vanaheim and shared the secrets of Realm Travel before the construction of Týr's Temple. Otherwise Freyr couldn't have reached Asgard on purpose, since he only reached Alfheim by accident while trying to find the hitherto unknown source of Bifrost Light (which also implies that no one knew of Alfheim's existence prior to this event). If we take Freya literally, and she and Freyr are in their early to mid 300's, this could mean that Týr's Temple and convenient Realm Travel as a whole are both very recent, between 200-300 years BF. Which brings me to...
• When did Týr obtain the Unity Stone? In order for him to have enough trust from all Realms to create the Temple, he must have been traveling to and from quite frequently. Or, is it just that after the other Realms began to figure out their own methods of traveling, and inevitably fighting with each other, that he was a consistent force for peace? His goodwill had to have began at some point, and narrowing that down can help us figure out when the Temple was built, when Týr was traveling to other lands, and maybe even how old he is.
• Determining when the Temple was built can also help us narrow down the deaths of other important characters, specifically Buri, the first of the Aesir and Odin's grandfather. If we recall, while traveling the Lake of Nine, we can come across an island known as "Buri's Storeroom" (the island with the broken water wheel that Kratos needs to turn in order to open the gate and complete a bell puzzle). This implies that, at the very least, Buri was still alive during the creation of Týr's Temple, because the other races have outposts in the Lake similar to this one, sometimes even small towns inhabited by representatives in another show of unity. This also implies that Buri, and likely Odin's father and two brothers (Borr, Vili and Vé respectively), were all around for long after the death of Ymir, and past the time when Týr united the realms. Mimir never speaks of them, which could imply that he never met them, but I'm not ready to commit to that idea. It's possible that they're still alive somewhere, but I doubt that they wouldn't have participated in Ragnarök as the Aesir's oldest warriors. Is it then more likely that they died during the Long War with the Vanir? It was stated that prior to encountering the Vanir as enemies, wars for the Aesir were easily won. However, with the forces of Vanaheim being their equal, the Aesir may have suffered heavy losses such as the oldest of their ranks. Perhaps these losses could explain why Odin himself no longer enjoys war (note: Odin claims that war was something he never enjoyed, but I find that hard to believe considering Mimir says that as the Long War dragged on, the Aesir stopped having fun. I believe that it was only during this war, and perhaps after the discovery of Gröa's prophecy, that Odin wanted to set aside the Aesir's traditional war-like games so he could focus on his new obsession, Ragnarök and what comes after).
• Finally, what do we know about Fólkvangr? For reference, Fólkvangr is the Vanaheim equivalent of Valhalla, at least in the myth, where half of those slain in battle would go to one, and half to the other. I can only recall the Vanaheim spirits mentioning it once or twice, so I was wondering if there were any notes that I've just overlooked that may have more details about it. Given the massive importance of Valhalla to the story, it's possible that Fólkvangr just doesn't actually exist, and the spirits just believe it does. We have clear and repeated distinctions for where gods, humans and the other creatures go when they die, which doesn't leave much room for an afterlife exclusive to residents of Vanaheim. Or, perhaps, are Fólkvangr and Valhalla one and the same similar to Freya and Frigg? Insights, observations and theories are all appreciated.
Oh, and of course, these are just the pieces of the timeline that particularly stuck out to me. If there are other parts that you're curious about, please feel free to call them out, every little bit helps us close in on more likely answers.

Hello again!

This week on the "CMP", Chernobyl Mapping Project, we are talking about the forgotten, yet important Gas Circuit Operating Rooms, 427/1 and 427/2, and stories of the operators working in them.

Quick recap of where these rooms are. 427s are found on the "Eastwall" and "Westwall" of the Chernobyl phase 2. There is very little footage of them, which is a big shame.
Each of the gas circuit rooms had (probably) 2 operators, an operator of the gas circuit and a senior operator of the gas circuit. In total, 4 operators in Unit 3 and 4. Despite all of the experiments and tests, the atmosphere in there was relaxed.

It is 26th of April, midnight. 3rd shift ends and the 5th shift begins. This shift, two operators:
  1. Operator of the Gas Circuit, SEMIKOPOV, Vladimir.
  2. Senior Operator of the Gas Circuit, SIMONENKO, Igor Viktorovich.
...were working in the Unit 4 Gas Circuit. Of course, as was the tradition, they started talking, gossiping, about their life. They were joined by one other worker:
  1. Electrician, BABIN, Aleksandr Valeryevich.
Their casual discussion lasted until 1:23 AM. 2 explosions and a loud bang (caused by a water hammer in one of the pumps) were heard. Located next to the pump hall, 2 floors below the 601/2 corridor where Shashenok sustained his fatal injuries, they were spared of the worst. Semikopov now runs out of their small room. He sees water dripping down the facade, down towards the ground. He doesn't know it, but the same water he is seeing will contribute in pain, skin damage and death of multiple of his friends, colleagues.
As fate would have it, Anatoly Kharlampiyovich Kurguz and Oleg Ivanovich Genrikh, two reactor hall operators, on level +35.5, were blasted by radioactive steam. Both of them sustained horrible burns. They managed to descend 25 meters down a stairwell, blinded by smoke, steam and their paths being blocked by debris at multiple places. (A more detailed account of them, and the reactor hall staff of Units 3, 4 will be published in a couple weeks!)
Simonenko and Semikopov decide to leave the now radioactive corridor (401/2), from which they were watching the drama unfold from. They leave Babin behind. While they are walking in the "Golden Corridor" they bump into Genrikh and Kurguz, they started talking about what they saw. Their short discussion is interrupted by Anatoly Stepanovich Dyatlov, who was about to go inspect the outside of Unit 4. He tells them to get Kurguz to the medical ward in the ABK-2 (Administration Building 2).
And so, the 4 of them go to the first exit they can think of. On level (floor) 0, there are multiple doors leading to the outside. Except they are all locked. At this time Kurguz's adrenaline starts to decline, immense pain will follow. Simonenko already knowing that this is a major accident, he breaks a window. One window won't hurt in such a catastrophe. They jump 1.2 meters down. And they start running...


On Unit 3 meanwhile, the 2 Gas Circuit operators are probably the least affected operators. Their work continues as usual. The two operators:
  1. Senior Operator of the Gas Circuit, MIRONOV, Viktor Alekseevich.
  2. Operator of the Gas Circuit, NAME UNKNOWN.
...are waiting for orders. This little oasis in a calamity is broken up by a call. Its Donosarov...
Mironov: -Mironov.
Donosarov: -Mironov, send your operator, here to Control Room 3!
(Talking with others: Whose group stayed there... there... right-)
Mironov: -Understood!

What happened to the Gas Circuit operators of Unit 3 is unclear. They were probably evacuated to a safer place like Control Room 3.

FATE

I will not spoil how the whole saga of Kurguz, Genrikh, Simonenko and Semikopov ended, tho I think that this story was said here many, many times.
Simonenko, Babin and Semikopov (very likely) all ended up in hospital 6.
Simonenko had the worst symptoms, he survived severe ARS II. Through luck, he ended up on a ward with Genrikh. Also with him and Genrikh were: Agulov (whom I mentioned in my previous post) and Kosarev (one of the two victims of the "bridge of death"). Simonenko was the case 86. He is one of the few, along with Akimov, that has his dose data lost. His dose was probably in the range of 150-250 REM. Simonenko died in May 2018. I hope this makes his story more known. Rest in Peace!
Babin and Semikopov are still alive. Semikopov gave a detailed interview on Lyudmila Bogun's channel. Recommend checking her out.
As for Unit 3 operators, there isn't much information known about them. Mironov seems to have been a long timer in the 5th shift, he had appeared in the "Agulov and the gang on the state farm" series of photos (that you can find on the Chernobyl museum site).
