Heart Attack

2024.05.19 05:50 Outrageous_Bet_1971 Heart Attack

Hello, my first time here. I had a heart attack recently and obviously among the list of things I need to change and improve is my diet, I live on my own and love food, this combination has led(along with laziness) to mean I’ve eaten takeaway foods and convenience stuff for too long and wanted some suggestions on cookbooks, while a simple google search throws up many options I wanted advice from you of the glorious Reddit to give me your best suggestions on books that you’ve personally tried and used to guide me on a new chapter of my life, so please, what are your favourite health based cook books?
To help me weed out those that I simply won’t be able to eat or enjoy I am Uk living, allergic to cheese so please no cheese recipes, I am also a keen meat eater so please no vegetarian books, I don’t mind books containing vegetarian recipes though. I would like suggestions for all meals, snacks, dinner’s breakfasts and lunches. I live alone and don’t mind batch cooking and freezing stuff but anything that is unsuitable for my circumstances won’t work. I would love to share my new found dishes with friends at times but I don’t have the funds to be cooking expensive meals that can’t be eaten a second time, frozen or be reheated, So with those parameters, What are your favourite healthy cooking cookbooks?

2024.05.19 03:42 take_my_lease2020 How to maintain a suburban yard without power tools?

Hello! I am new to renting a house in the suburbs -- in the northeast US, if geography is helpful. I am trying to maintain the lawn and shrubs using only manual tools (i.e., no gas/electric), to limit air and noise pollution as well as to limit the amount of maintenance I need to do for the tools themselves.
So far I've been doing alright with just a push mower we purchased, but this doesn't allow me to cut the areas by the fences, the weeds growing among the shrubs, or the grass growing around the trees.
I'd prefer not to purchase a standard weed eater if possible, but it's tough to tell if the alternatives that an internet search pulls up will do everything that I need them to do. I don't need a perfectly manicured lawn, but I worry that the landlord won't like it if the front yard gets too unruly.
Any other advice on more environmentally-conscious yard maintenance is also welcome (or redirects to better subreddits for this kind of thing). Thank you in advance!

2024.05.19 03:41 jus32par I cut grass for cheap 🌝

Figured I’d reach out to the Reddit Community with all of the rain we keep getting. I currently maintain about 10 client’s yards, and the occasional “my friend told me to call you”. My client’s appreciate my work (I think lol they keep telling me to come back). I’m a firefighter, so it’s just a side hobby that keeps me busy and off the couch on my days off.
My equipment is your standard setup; push mower, weed eater, blower, shovel/rake, 2 gloves and elbow grease. Since I treat it like a hobby, my prices can say low and affordable to all, also since I’m not in debt due to purchasing a $10k 720 degree 8 gear hot rod that also cuts grass 🤣 my push mower cuts clean and gets the job done.
If you’re interested shoot me an email - Dentontxlawncare@gmail.com (just made that email btw)
Also, if you have a neighbor or know of anyone struggling financially that can’t afford a service and in need of a good days work on their yard. I’m all for boosting spirits for those that would benefit from it. Send me an email and I’ll try to find a way to stop by the location and pay it forward.

2024.05.19 00:49 ItsPeachyBaby74 I feel hopeless and disgusted.

2 weeks out of residential and I messed up and feel worthless.
Today is 16 days out of residential. I’m a binge eater and I smoked weed yesterday and of course ate more than I needed last night and completely numbed out while doing it. I’m actually even still in PHP M-F and I’m so ashamed. It’s like the 5 weeks of amazing work I did is completely erased and I’m back to square one. I know this isn’t true and it was just one slip up but I feel miserable and have been in bed all day. I so scared I’ve started a spiral that I won’t be able to stop now. Shame and disgust are all I can think about now.

2024.05.18 18:49 atreeindisguise Easement questions

I have an easement attached my property for a non-exclusive appurtenant and right of way.
I'm a widowed disabled female with the nicest house and a former habitat professional. It seems to really bother the men who use this road. They keep cutting down my trees and weed eating my flowers. They use the road like a social hangout, which i wouldn't mind but they are intimidating. When I asked them to stop last year, I was pushed with the weed eater. Cops are not helpful in my area. They park their friend's cars through my property and on top of plantings. The road is paved and it is 16 foot wide. Nothing is impeding the roadway. I want to know if a lawyer could send a letter. I have serious health stuff and just trying to veer off the stress that will happen in a few weeks.
The language in the document says, The above described lot 1A is conveyed together with and subject to the benefits and burdens of and the grantor does hair by reserve for the benefit of its adjoining remaining lot 1B as shown on the plot a non-exclusive opportunate 20 ft wide easement and right away for ingress egress and regress over and upon the said lot 1A for the benefit of lot 1B said easement and right of way extending 20 ft south of the northern headline of lot 1A and running along the northern margin of said lot 1A.
I own both lot 1a and lot 1b and the easement is a farm road that led to the bottom of the property which is now a small development. From my understanding the non-exclusive language is all that grants them access to this road. Their homes touch Rose valley Lane. Do they have any rights beyond ingress and egress. Been dealing with issues for a while and don't have a lot of money. Wish I could just put up a sign with the law and the officers here would enforce it.

Debating on gas or battery weed eater. I have always had gas but on the edge of getting battery. I was about to pull trigger on ego but have read that customer service is bad and batteries aren’t as good as they once were. Not looking to spend more than $250. 5000 sqft yard

2024.05.18 15:14 zahebm I worked and now they want their money back saying that I stole

A lady hired me and 4 friends for a yard work job. For this job it was agreed that we would all get paid $20 an hour to take trash out of her yard, and to rototill and seed her back yard.
We had worked that entire Sunday very hard and made a significant difference to the yard. We rototilled the yard in it's entirety, cleaned up 1400 lbs of garbage (the weight receipts I have from the dump), and we overall did what we were asked.
The lady was extremely happy that we did the work. She refuses to check the job we did even though I really wanted her to. I am a college student that did more work doing demo and trash removal in my life and I'm new to landscaping. In my opinion we did end up doing a good job. The area was fully filled and seeded with hay to cover the seed. The only job the lady had was to properly water the grass seed for two weeks (ish) for the grass to properly take seed and grow. The soil was quite dry though so I would imagine that this would take lots of water l. And I warned her about this saying that it would be best to water early in the morning or late at night to reduce waste due to evaporation.
The original pay was going to be $640 for the labor for 4 people at $20/hr for 8 hours not counting an hour lunch break we did to get more string for our weed eater and $100 extra for the dump fees and gas that ended up fully going into the job. However, during this job she kept wanting to give us more money. To this I wasn't sure what to say so I agreed because I have never had a person want to give me extra money.
The lady wanted to pay me $30 and hour for being some kind of foreman type person, and gave us all tips of $40. This added up to her being out $980.
This is all fine and well at first, but then the next day she checks all of the work we did, and is very dissatisfied with our work. She sends pictures of things and issues that we did not agree on. That being weeding her garden and parts that weren't her exact area that I said I would work. That being her back yard and the pool around her yard. The other thing that we did not do was clean out her goat area she had on a concrete slab because it was all rotten hay and shit. This area I could have done, but I did not have the time that day or a mask that I would have liked to have worn for it.
The lady goes on to start saying that I scammed her and did not take any of the calls I sent or texts and only was saying that I scammed her and that I did absolutely no work there. She then says she is going to move on with her life and block me forever and be the bigger person. I had tried to get control of the situation over text, but she kept saying that I did not do my full job.
A week has gone by since then, and now a random guy is texting me and threatening to sue me now. I want to send the entire text chain, but this sub reddit does not allow videos. The main claims that I must return the money because I did not do my work. He claims that I tampered with her cameras around her house and stolen items as well. He said that he will go to my college and tell whoever is important that I had done this and will try and get me kicked out. He also said I took illegal photos of the house. I did not steal or tamper with any cameras. I honestly didn't take any pictures even though I really wish I did. The man is threatening to call my school and try and get me in trouble which is very worrying to me.
I am willing to return the extra money that she gave me, but I am not willing to make my friends cough up money for her and this mystery man. To make this pay as much as my friends (25 and hour technically with the tip), I would give $80. My fear is that they will say that I did not do this or that this is not enough money.
What should I do? This money is a life saver for all of us and especially me because I am coming to the end of my college year and am not going to be able to afford rent if I give her all of the money I had made. If it truly is the right thing to do, and I am breaking a real law that would require me to stay at this town for some law suite, I will be happy to fork over the money to avoid that. Yet this feels like I'm being bullied for the money.
What do I do?
(I can post the texts if that is wanted)
Edit:
I decided I'm going to file a police report on Monday when the police station is open at about 8 am before my classes. I have not responded to the guy or the lady since Monday of last week. I have the receipts of the dumping costs and amounts, and I have all the screenshots/screen recordings I can take. The one photo I took (cus I'm a dummy) is of my truck filled with material and the house in the background. I texted all my homies that worked with me and we're not spending that cash just in case.
I really appreciate all of the responses and opinions. It is a really big relief to know that I am not crazy and that my stance on this is sound (or since it's reddit it means I am some kind of radical). I'll do another edit if anything happens that's worth talking about

2024.05.17 21:23 responds-with-tealc sedge, or something else?

sedge, or something else?
Edit: on second though, seems like it isn't sedge. I do have something sedge-like elsewhere though.
I'm new to caring about this stuff; moved in to a new place last summer that has some decent lawns, and im aiming to keep it that way. These pics are a hair under ~2 weeks since the last mow, and areas where something slightly different is growing are almost all spots that got trimmed fairly low with the weed eater.
Im in the southeast usa. Most of the turf is one kind of zoysia or another I think, its mixed varieties from who knows how many sod patches after trenching for coax/sprinklers/etc... at this point.
It doesn't look bad, or anything, just trying to see what it is so I can figure out how/if I need to control it.

2024.05.17 21:07 Cpttoasty M18 weed eater

About to pull the trigger and get one. Any warnings against? Have seen a few posts but they’ve been more of a mixed bag of reviews and not very helpful.
Edit: Thank you all for the input. Spent the extra 50$ for the combo with the 8ah and rapid charger.
Honest first time review it was amazing. Light enough I’m not sore or tired from carrying it. Didn’t even feel the vibration everyone had complained about in other posts, especially compared to my gas weedeater. Grass was extremely high and thick around my entire fence since my gas one had died, ended up going through (5) 5ah batteries and the 8ah high output. Definitely noticed an increase in power with the 8ah battery.
Machine is perfectly balance and easy to carry. Has a two speed variable motor and even on low speed it cut through the brush better than any gas weed eater I’ve ever had.
Out the box review and three hours use, I have absolutely zero regrets buying this set up and look forward to buying more of the quick lok attachments.

2024.05.17 10:43 Human-Nebula-8079 I could use some motivational words or encouragement. Messed up big time.

Short background: Male, 24, 5”11, currently back up to 297 lbs. I’m a binge eater. I’ve used food in a bad way my entire life. I’m also a marijuana addict and it makes the binge eating and impulse control so much worse.
Long story short after being sober from weed for two entire years I discovered a weak spot in my sobriety and relapsed for the last month straight. I’ve been totally out of control with the weed usage and thus I’ve been totally out of control with my diet.
I had lost 60 pounds in the last 6 months eating anywhere from 1,500-2,000 calories a day and within a single month I gain a whopping 30 pounds. When I say I’ve been binge eating I mean extreme extreme binging to the point of almost being sick. 30 fucking pounds. I’m devastated. I worked so hard. 30 pounds I gained in one month… that’s three months of an intense caloric deficit.
I’m getting the weed addiction taken care of, don’t worry. I’m going to get back on track with caloric deficit as well but I’m just really struggling with the idea that I have to work another three months to get off what I already lost. Someone please offer me some words of encouragement.

2024.05.17 01:03 Rare_Alternative9800 Looking for a Reliable Battery-Powered Weed Wacker

Anyone have recommendations for a decent battery-powered weed eatewacker? I know Li-Ion batteries probably won't last forever, but I'm hoping to avoid a complete dud.
If you've had a battery-powered weed wacker that's served you well for a few years, I'd love to hear the brand and model! Knowing what features you like (and dislike) would be helpful too.

2024.05.16 21:01 PoundAcademic3983 Tool to cut weeds and high grass on 1/2 acre with hill

Tool to cut weeds and high grass on 1/2 acre with hill
What is the best tool to cut all the weeds and long grass? Total land is about 1/2 acre with about half of that on a hill (not too steep) and the rest pretty flat (see pictures).
I’ve been using a weed wackeeater but it takes A LONG time. Seeing there is a better way. Could I use a lawn mower and just put the deck up to the highest setting? At least do that for the top? I figure I’ll need to use the weed wacker for the hardest to reach areas or roughest terrain, but wanted to find an easier method for the hill section and especially the top.
Thanks!

2024.05.16 14:01 GABETHEBEAN69 Payback to the neighbors ( pls read description )

My neighbors called the police on me the other day because the said my 80 cc bike was to loud which pissed me off because she has about 15 dogs that never stop barking the worlds loudest goats and a bunch of chickens so I decided to weed eat the entire 2 acre lawn today with this wonderful machine which took about an hour and a half and when I was done I just put the original exhaust back on but left it a little loose to make it seem believable and since my neighbor is an idiot she never thought to take a video or picture of the weed eater so when she obviously called the police again they just told me to fix the muffler so now whenever she decides to be an ass I just loosen some bolts and mow the lawn. TLDR my neighbor is a bitch

I just bought a brand new FS38 and it just won't stay running. It fires up (takes several attempts with lots of sputtering and dying out). 2024.05.16 00:28 Proof_Bathroom_3902 I had just got home when suddenly

I had got home from a 12 hour day and was just laying down in bed with my phone to grab a nap, when I got a Facebook alert, someone In the local group posted free scrap at the driveway first come takes all. Threw on pants and sandals, grabbed the truck keys and ran over to the address. Within 12 minutes of posting I tied for first. The other guy backed into the drive but i parked on the road Grabbed a push mower and a weed eater. Went to work on a big snow blower. The other guy had a trailer and said he wanted the Snapper rider mower for parts to fix his. Since the motor was seized tight I helped him load it and he helped me load the snow blower and some wheels and brake rotors in my truck. Two minutes later it was all gone. When they light the pack rat beacon we all come crawling out for the promise of free scrap.
