So with The Final Shape looming, it's got me thinking about storylines and stuff, and something occurred to me that I can't seem to resolve on my own. Hope ya'll can help me out.

A Loose Timeline

1. Traveler shows up in Sol
2. Humans travel to Mars to meet the Traveler
3. Traveler comes to Earth and bestows a Golden Age upon humanity
4. Near the close of the Golden Age, two prominent characters emerge, Clovis Bray and Maya Sundaresh
   1. Maya heads a research team for Ishtar Collective, primarily based on Venus, studying allegedly ancient Vex ruins and structures that seem to defy laws of time and space. Namely the Citadel, although they are also aware of the existence of the Vault of Glass
   2. Clovis is the namesake and head of the Clovis Bray corporation which is dedicated to pushing the limits of human potential at any cost. Often studies dangerous and unknown phenomena and artifacts found on the Moon and Europa, with little regard for the safety of his workers or test subjects. Clovis and his family created the Warmind Rasputin and the Exo’s.
5. On Venus, Maya and her team discover the scope of Vex simulation power through the simulations a small Vex is running about her and her team. With the help of Rasputin, they are able to “rescue” their simulated copies, and then disperse those into the Vex net to explore and study it.
   1. These copies are released into the Citadel, which is on Venus near the Vault of Glass
6. On Europa, Clovis discovers an ancient dark artifact that emits a power he calls “Clarity” which he uses to ultimately perfect the Exos by combining Clarity with Vex Mind Fluid and putting this inside the bodies of Exos.
   1. Vex mind fluid is harvested from a Vex world called Volantis, on the other side of the portal in the Glassway strike
7. Prior to this, Clovis’s corporation comes into possession of an item called the K1 Artifact. Found on the moon. It induces nightmares and insanity in people near it. It seems to be of the Darkness, possibly of the Witness or Nezerac, but it predates the arrival of either in Sol.
   1. But Clovis does recognize it and Clarity as being part of the same thing, the same network, etc.
8. Witness comes to Sol with the Veil to attempt to enact its Final Shape
   1. For some reason, the Veil is not with the Witness, but is with Nezerac aboard Nezerac’s Pyramid
9. Not sure of the exact order, but during this invasion the following things happen:
   1. Savathun defeats Nezerac, and takes the Veil from his ship to hide it away on Neptune
      1. (Why Neptune?)
   2. Mara Sov and the crew of her ship are caught in the crossfire and transported to a place that would become the Distributary
   3. Nezerac’s ship ends up on Luna
      1. (or was it always there?)
   4. The Witness seemingly abandoned its plans for some reason, and fled the system
   5. The Traveler released Ghosts out into the world who would raise Lightbearers
   6. At some point at or shortly after this failed invasion, the Witness attempts to recreate the Veil in the Black Garden.
      1. The Vex are involved but something doesn’t add up here.

Now For the Stuff That Doesn't Add Up

1. What is Clarity and what was the K1 artifact?
2. Both were in Sol seemingly LONG before the Collapse, which means long before the Traveler showed up, which means long before the Witness or any of it’s disciples would have visited Sol.
   1. The moon was formed when an asteroid collided with Earth. Is it possible that in Destiny’s universe, this collision contained things like K1?
   2. Why would Clarity be on Europa of all places, and why does Clarity breath when the other statues that resemble Clarity are still?
3. The Black Heart doesn’t make sense in this timeline even before the arrival of the Witness to the cannon.
4. Setting aside the Witness for a moment (just pretend it doesn’t exist for now)
   1. Going by D1 lore, it is the source of the Primeval Minds
   2. Primeval Minds were meant to bring forth the powers of the Vault of Glass
   3. The Vault of Glass may exist outside of time and space (is this true?), but even still, on Venus there are Ishtar records of it, as well as geo maps I believe that show it going down far underneath the surface of Venus.
   4. This means that it was there during the Golden Age, but we don’t know for how long
   5. If the Black Heart is what prevents the Traveler from healing, yet seemingly had no effect prior to that then that means one of two things:
   6. Either the heart was constructed after the Traveler went dormant
   7. Or the heart was inert or unable to affect the Traveler until after it went dormant
   8. Either way, the Traveler going dormant at a specific point in time was required for the relationship between the Primeval Minds and the Vault to become possible.
   9. If this was the plan all along, the Vex would have needed to be able to predict the actions and the intent of both the Traveler and the Black Fleet, which were both known to be paracausal forces
   10. If this wasn’t the plan, and was instead opportunistic action taken by the Vex, why did they add the Vault to Venus prior to any of this happening?
   11. This also does not provide insight into what the Black Garden is or why a Black Heart would grow there, or why Vex would be there.
5. If we bring the Witness back in, then some of this makes sense.
   1. The Witness seeking a copy of the Veil uses the Black Garden and apparently the Sol Divisive to construct it.
   2. This occurs after the Witness loses the Veil during the Collapse.
   3. But it does not answer where the Sol Divisive came from or what the Black Garden is.
   4. It also does not explain why the Witness would try to use the Vex to create the Heart, because a being this old and well traveled will have known the Vex limitations when it comes to paracausal simulation and construction.

What is so important about Sol for the Vex?

They can build a planet sized computer literally anywhere, out of anything. So why build their sensitive prediction engines near the Traveler and the Vanguard? For my purposes, we're going to skip the obvious gameplay related needs and focus on story reasons. Why is this happening in the story?

1. There are only three places where we see Vex that the Traveler has not also touched
2. Europa - They came through Clovis's portal and largely went dormant after the war there.
3. Neptune - They are apparently there for the Veil and later for Soteria
4. The Moon - They come through the Garden Portal when we complete the Shadowkeep campaign
   1. There are some Vex structures around the portal, but otherwise their influence on the Moon seems limited to small physical patrols of Sol Divisive Vex
5. Additionally there are four I know of that are not available or contaminated by Vex in game, but that we have accounts of
   1. Oryx's Throne World - Much like Europa, the Vex were only there because Crota opened a door too their space and let them in
   2. Volantis - The place Clovis's portal opens to
      1. Possibly the same place Crota accessed?
   3. The Leviathan -
      1. A mind that supposedly ran the Nessus planet computer was sucked into the Leviathan (so much for it's predictive powers...
      2. The Menagerie had Vex as well, but I don't remember if they came from Nessus with the Eater of Worlds boss, or if they were captured by Calus prioafter that.
   4. The Dreaming City - Season of the Wish they are in the city, in the tunnels created by Riven
6. What's interesting is that, of the places the Traveler HAS NOT touched, and where they are still present, Neptune is the only one where they are doing much of anything that isn't wholly reactive to other beings disturbing their stuff.
7. All other locations where we encounter the Vex, the Traveler also touched first
   1. Mercury
   2. Venus
   3. Earth
   4. Mars
   5. Io
   6. Nessus
8. So the Vex seem to have a pattern of showing strong interest in converting worlds the Traveler has also altered. They also seem very interested in the Veil.
   1. Oryx’s Throne World is also a place that keenly interested them, when Crota let them in. And it is also a paracausal location filled with beings that utilize paracausal power.
   2. Despite Clarity being present on Europa, and having a known interaction with Vex Mind Fluid, the Vex there are still mostly asleep.
   3. Same in terms of the Moon where there are known Darkness artifacts as well as a whole Pyramid, an entrance to Crota’s Throne World, and a number of Hive running around. But they are not active there in force anymore
9. And even though they seem to end up in other types of places, they don’t seem to do much there unless provoked.
10. The Vex have known the location of the Veil for some time, yet the Witness doesn’t. This means that either the Sol Divisive doesn’t know either, or they withheld that information somehow for some reason.
11. We don’t know what the Black Garden is yet.
    1. D1 frames it around the Black Heart, but as we can see that doesn’t even make sense by D1’s timeline
    2. D2 expands the framing through GoS and season of Undying. The Garden is it’s own thing, and the heart was added and removed later.
    3. Regardless, the Vex pattern of strong interest in converting things the Traveler has also altered, suggests to me that the Garden was probably also altered by the Traveler at some point
12. So it seems like the Vex are either obsessed with the Traveler, or they are obsessed with things the Traveler has converted for some reason. And that seems to be why we find they're big dangerous computation engines and stuff like that here in Sol, and why they don't just build them literally anywhere else.
    1. And while yes they do seem to build stuff elsewhere, those things just don't seem to do much. And we can tell because they haven't just built an infinite forest off in the Andromeda Galaxy somewhere where NOTHING could ever disrupt it and they could compute endlessly. Even the Valut of Glass, the seat of their most arcane and powerful frames, is close to the current location of the Traveler.

But why? Why do they follow it? Why do they care what it does? Why do they build their stuff near it? I still don't know...

5’10 i weigh about 140lbs on average. i’m not terribly out of shape but i definitely haven’t been very active over the last year. i mainly want to lose my belly fat and gain some muscle/ become a bit more lean. i don’t have a strict diet at all but i do try to stay away from super fatty foods and fast food and i try to watch my calories but i have no idea what i’m doing lol. i really need advice on how to eat a bit better and lose fat/gain muscle with at home workouts. i do have a treadmill i can use but nothing other than that. any and all advice appreciated thank you ! :)

I’m just curious if anyone else has ever dealt with this?
I was diagnosed with complicated diverticulitis with a perforated colon in January. After years of what I know now was undiagnosed flares, I started to have a familiar pain in fall of 2023. My stomach was swelling but I wrote it off as weight gain and wrote the pain off as just another joy of being a woman who is beginning to age.
In early January after a visit to my parents where I couldn’t sleep at all due to this pelvic pain, I did a frantic telehealth urgent care appointment at 3am for what I thought was a bad UTI. After a few days of meds it was clear to myself and my husband that I needed to go to ER. I was hospitalized for 4 days on iv antibiotics for infection and the beginning stages of septic shock. Due to the location of the hole, they were unable to operate because it would have make a bad situation worse.
I was sent home on 10 days of antibiotics only to come back again 2 weeks later again in early stages of septic shock, now with an abscess. Another 4/5 days in the hospital on iv antibiotics and unable to operate because of the location. It was clear then that I would without a doubt need surgery so I found an excellent surgeron after meeting with a few and got on his schedule.
After two additional hospitalizations and a few months of healing enough to have surgery, I am now three weeks post op and with a foot less of my Colon. Slowly healing and feel grateful to be alive but there is so much guilt that consumes me. Not about any one thing in particular but just everything.
For example, my husband and I had tickets to two concerts we wanted to see this year and We missed out both because of my illness.
My grandma called and I didn’t want to talk and wanted to get her off the phone.
My cousin is having a party tonight and I usually feel worse in the afternoon so I said no and we have said no a lot of other times so now I feel terrible.
My friend helped with my dog but we haven’t hung out alot lately while I was healing and I feel like that’s not fair even though I watch her dog all the time.
I should be working even tho I have approved short term disability but ugh, I feel okay enough to sit out in the sun, I should be good enough to work.
My garden looks bad, my hair looks bad, my husband and I haven’t be touchy feely lately because of my Soreness.
Everything I make for food is centered around what I can eat, what about my husband.
My dog needs daily walks and my husband works 50-60 hours a week so I usually do it but I can’t right now so I feel terrible that he’s not getting the exercise he deserves
I’m working on my MBA in a self paced plan but I’m On my last class and moving SO slow. I want to be done by June but I doubt I will be.
The worst part is, no one is making me feel like this. It’s just me and my brain. But I so worry I am burden to everyone around me and it just feels awful.
I am safe, I have no plans or desired to harm myself but the guilt and depression from the last few months is just hitting me so hard lately and really, I was quite positive through the whole experience so I don’t know why I’m Feeling this now?
Anyways, I would love to know if others have experienced this..thank you all so much.

No one yet knew how long we lived, but still did they prepare me for a life-long journey. Cheeses and fruits fresh-picked did Our Mother gather to sustain me, and Our Father stowed in woven sacks grain to keep my strength, heaving and strapping barley on our beast's broad back. I looked outwards at the sun setting in its westerly nape, weak in th'numbness of heavy sentence new-laid, when a force struck at my thighs and grasped around my waist. My stomach was in th'dirt, my mouth fined with dust. Above me I saw looming our first father, rock in ready hand, pinning me to th'ground as he raised up his arm to Heaven in twisted invocation, something sick and wicked crinkling in his eyes. Waiting for tight- held stone to shatter my brow, the seconds stretched as centuries, but death stood still. Looking up, the stone and arm that held it sat limp on Adam’s knee as he rose with heavy breath. He reached down his hand, as though to help me rise up to my feet. I held doubts.
"I won't kill you, boy,"
he softly said. after a moment, I took his hand and he then hoisted me upwards. As he spoke he started dusting blotches of earth from my robe.
"No, I won't kill you. It's not a father's place to inherit from the son. I'll let you wander. Let the world do its bloody office. Pity your brother, that he bleeds the fields. Pity your mother, that she mourns two sons,"
his gaze finally meeting mine,
"the better one and you. Don't pity me. As man you bear my shape and name, but you're no son of mine."
His piece then said, he went toward where worm-food Abel lay interred. Ever watchful was Eve. A look half-mad lingered about her eyes as she stood in grief-mute stupor. Maybe by Abel's blood was she made deaf. No matter. I grabbed the halter, starting on my lonesome, weary way. Cresting the hill that would forever stand as sentry between me and home, I couldn't help but look back. There were th'fields from youth I'd tilled. I saw the altar where we made offerings to th'Potter, th'olive tree I had watered with brother's blood. In the midst of it all I saw Our Mother, still where I left her, looking at me. I waved meekly, my arm meeting my side almost as soon as I raised it. She was unmoved. With wavering breath, I turned toward my portion. East had He bid me. East would I then go.

I had an idea a few weeks ago for a poem about Cain after he kills Abel, so that's what this is. I'm a four books into what I think is going to be a five book piece. Just wanted to gauge folk's interest, and would definitely appreciate any constructive criticism. Thanks in advance for reading this monstrosity.

So I (30f) and my best friend for years (26M) let's call him John. So John and I have been best friends for many many years, about 3 years ago he moved about 2 hours away from me. We still talked every day or played video games together every night, that was our thing. Well about 6 months ago he started dating this girl (25f) let's call her Mary. Well Mary has a 1 yr old daughter, after only 2 months he moved her into his house. That didn't bother me I tried to be Mary's friend I sent Christmas gifts for her and her daughter, we had no issues until about a month ago. John stopped calling me or answering my calls or getting on Xbox or anything. For context I have never let anyone come in between our friendship ever, well Mary was ok with us being friends until I lost my job and could no longer send money to help them with bills or gifts, I used to even order instacart with groceries for them and baby food and anything else they needed. For context they do both work, I was just trying to help them out since I used to make more than enough to pay my bills and have some extra, now my boyfriend is the one paying the bills and we can't afford to do a lot of extra stuff. Back to John and Mary...... One day I just stopped getting phone calls, messages or video calls and he would ignore my calls and messages in return. I finally got a call about 3 weeks ago and I said "oh wow haven't heard from you, are you guys ok? How is Mary and the baby doing? I hope all is well" he responded with "yeah Mary went to the store so I can call you" Inside my head I'm thinking in my best Charlotte impression "I beg your finest pardon?" Then he had the audacity to ask me for money. I am only a friend as long as I'm doing for them, as soon as I couldn't afford to help them I'm a no body. Might I add they both currently work full time each. I was only helping because I am that kind of friend. I stopped hearing from them again for weeks, I'm guessing he could only talk to me with her not around. Anyway, fast forward to May 5th 2024, it is my 30th birthday. I didn't do anything that day but I the following weekend I had family over and we had hamburgers and played music and enjoyed each other's company. I heard nothing from John or Mary. I waited to see if I would at least get a text. I didn't ask anyone for anything but I figured I could at least get a text saying happy birthday. I didn't think that was too much to ask it takes 5 seconds and it would have meant a lot to me. Well I still haven't heard anything from either of them. So I sent John a text saying all I asked was to be acknowledged for one day, he didn't have to get me anything all I wanted was a text or a call just saying happy birthday. He read the message and did not reply. In fact he messaged my boyfriend let's call him Tom (31M) he told Tom that I was bothering him and that Mary was getting suspicious and thought him and I were sleeping together behind her back since I was no longer paying her bills for her there had to be something going on behind her back. First of all, it was ok when I was buying stuff for them and her daughter but now that I can't all of a sudden I'm sleeping with him. She had no issues with our friendship when I was sending money. So I sent John one last message and told him if he wanted to be with her that's fine whatever but I will no longer send them money or associate with her in any way shape or form. I am not an ATM and I will not be used as such. John had never asked me for money at any point in our friendship I helped because I wanted to. But, I told him if I didn't matter to him enough to send a two word text then I must not matter enough to receive my money and I would have nothing to do with them until they get their priorities straight. I have heard nothing from them but John has messaged Tom many times asking if I would answer my phone so he could ask me for help. No, nope, nata, no sir, not, nothing and not going to happen. I put my foot down and I've stood by it. Tom tells me I'm being petty and should talk to him and see if John and I can work things out. I told him I would work things out with John if he stopped asking for money and allowing Mary to come in between our friendship. I don't know if I'm just being overly petty or if I'm not being petty enough haha. Please reddit help me out, am I over reacting just because he didn't message me on my birthday or should I cave and help them again?

I’ve loved sugar my whole life, my dad loved sugar, both my grandparents loved sugar. I’ve probably eaten candy or sweets of some kind every day for over a year. No I’m not horribly out of shape, although I am trying to lose a few pounds.
Mostly I just hate craving sugar all of the time. For me it’s mostly candy, but I’ll find myself trying to stop and I controllably eating it. I’ve tried going cold turkey, I’ve tried slowly scaling back, I’ve tried not having any in the home, or only having stuff I have to bake but none of it seems to work. I feel so ashamed and stuck. I’ve never been addicted to anything, not nicotine, alcohol nothing, except sugar which I can’t seem to kick or let alone find some control over. Even if I was just eating it once a week I would feel more confident but right now I just don’t feel like I have any willpower whatsoever.
I feel like if I can’t get this under control then I’m never going to be able to meet and maintain my weight loss goals let alone live a happy and healthy lifestyle. I’ve taken steps to be eating organic Whole Foods thinking that would help but it really hasn’t, my cravings are still as prevalent as ever and no matter how hard I tell myself no, I just find myself binging later.
Any tips or tricks would be so appreciated. I hate feeling this uncontrollable urge and need to eat sugar. I wish I could just be one of those people that easily prioritizes health and not the incessant cravings 😭

I started at Walmart last year and I’ve never been happier at a job. I went from part-time associate to CSXF DM ASAP. I thought I was hot shit.
WRONG. I’m realizing after a year as a DM that I got the promotion because no one has a god damn brain, and everyone who does, is already a DM. Now that we switched to the GM/Consumables roles, I’m one of several DM’s for my team. Which you’d think is great, except half of them are brain dead. One is old and slow enough that I’m sure she’s going to croak on shift (if she ever actually shows up to one!!!!), another flipped off a customer recently so I’m sure she’ll be terminated (which sucks cuz she’s the one who inspired me to be a DM), another acts like she’s the fucking Lead (which doesn’t exist at my store), so when I come back from lunch, she’ll ask me what “Tim” and “Jim” and “Steve” have done, and I’ll say “I don’t know, I just came back from lunch!” And she’ll go “Hmph. Okay.” AS IF SHE WASNT THERE THE WHOLE HOUR EITHER!!! Go fucking check for yourself lady!!
For a long time my store only did the Purples. We did ALL the blues, for GM and Top 6, on a Thursday. Yes, the same day. Except it was shit every week because we only have 6 people at a fucking time!!!! Make that 5 because someone is in Electronics! So 5 fucking people doing Blues for EVERY department on a single day.
We changed it now so we do the Blues/Purps for GM every day, which starts as a 1 person job, and then whoever finishes their Top 6 first goes to help. We do Blues and Purps for Top 6 every day at 7am, and Pets or HBA is usually the smallest, so the associate for HBA is double assigned to Infants. PapeChem and Foods usually have 3 or 4 RC’s a day, just from the morning alone, with one associate working on it all day.
AND NOW!!!!! Now, my ASM is saying we’re going to do the Blue/Purps for PapeChem and Pets at 7am, 1pm, AND 7PM. BY 7PM WE HAVE TWO PEOPLE!!!!!! There’s the safety sweeps, the temp checks, break coverage, oh did I mention we all have to share OMNI responsibilities? So we have that to keep in check too, add in photo lab because we’re all on call for that too!!! Don’t forget Dairy and Produce, because the morning ASM will publicly scold the closing DM if they don’t fill Every. Single. Spot. In the milk coolers.
And on top of that, we aren’t hiring anyone else for my team. But we can hire all the CSMs as their ASM wants! And of course the two CSMs who are fucking (while married to other people!!!) get the exact same shifts together, so all the cashiers have to stand there and watch them flirt and touch each other the whole time!!!
Garden Centre employees? Yeah, fuck that! We aren’t hiring anyone. So now out of my 5 !!!! available associates, I have to assign one to the Garden Centre. “Oh well watering should only take 2 hours” Shut the fuck up!!! 2 hours for the entire Garden Centre, but you can’t use the heavy duty spray settings, and make sure the ones in the middle are saturated too?? Okay sure ASM who hasn’t touched a hose in three years, I’d love to see you do that, while ALSO making sure the hose doesn’t get tangled, and your hands and clothes are soaked because our hose is broken, OH and don’t forget all the old ass customers who are stopping us to ask if we have that tree or this flower, and we should really take all the plants in at night (all 15 racks????), and “oh you’re finally watering them huh!!!!!”
OH, and as DM’s, we have to “follow up more”. So now instead of actually helping my team work Vizpicks, or covering breaks, or doing Photo Lab, or any actual fucking work that makes everyone’s day a little bit easier, I have to spend my whole shift walking around and asking people, “Are you done yet? Are you done yet? What are you doing now? Why are you talking? What are you working on now?” Which is REALLY going to improve morale when there’s 2 DM’s walking around nagging the 3 fucking associates who are doing everything!!!
Most days I love my job, but oh my GOD. I need a workplace where people don’t have their heads buried so far up their ass all they spew is SHIT.

By raking and cleaning the dead leaves out of the garden of my mind, I can shape it to be conducive to what I want

I used to love my parents relationship and want to be like them so bad but now they’re the reason I don’t ever want to be with anyone romantically. My dad is always making a mess and my mum just cleans it up with no problem with it even though I can tell she’s so frustrated with everything. This one time I was setting the table for dinner and he kept using stuff and not putting it back , I kept putting it back he spilt some juice and didn’t even bother trying to stop the bottle from falling and he just looked at me and waited for me to clean it up. Knowing if I didn’t my mom would have to I just did it.
He then came with his tools and stuff and started working on something on the table I just set and it got dirty then I had to change the table cloth. I was just fed up and told him “when you use things please put them back” and my mum came in upset and started yelling at me saying I’m too young to be telling him that which just made me laugh because what does she even mean by that.
Today I made food and told him he can dish the food when it’s time for dinner as I had assignment do and my mums at work. And I come back to the kitchen in such a mess and he used A GARDEN TROWEL to scoop out the rice from the pot it also had some soup on it.the site of the kitchen just made me exhausted but I couldn’t help but tell my mum . I sent her a picture of the kitchen and the garden trowel with food on it and she said “oh no let him know that’s a garden trowel for gardening” mind you this man has a GARDEN AND ORDCHARD the trowel is his there’s no way he didn’t know that. I’m so tired of my mum treating him like a baby her response to the garden trowel thing is what actually ruined my day she has this “he’s just a man🥹” mentality it’s sickening.
And when I don’t clean up after him she gets so upset and yells at me and these days I’ve been refusing and telling her to tell him which I agree seems disrespectful but I really don’t know what else to do

To be more precise, it’s the roadside pickup. Here’s my very recent experience a few days ago. I ordered to go from Olive Garden, arrived on time, parked at the designated area, and followed the instruction to text….etc. It was after my eye exam and my pupils were dilated so that’s why I preferred not to go out bc it was way too sunny for my eyes then. Waited, nothing. After 10 min I texted again. Nothing. When it was close to 20 minutes, I received an email thank you for your business, rate us.
WTF?! I walked inside. The well packed brown bag was sitting on the counter.
I would like to give them all reasons and excuses for not bringing my food out, but when I saw the check stapled on the bag, I can’t help but suspect - no one wants to bring it out because I didn’t tip when I checked out?
This is what I always do (maybe it will become “did”?); I tip cash to the person who brings me the to-go order from the roadside. It’s like tipping the porter who helps with my bags, right? However, This recent “event” with OG makes me wonder:

1. If I tip while checking out online, does the tip have to be split with others, like the hostess….etc whom doesn’t have anything to do with this order
2. If I tip while checking out, the server can see how much tipping that is from the check stapled on the brown bag, would it be an “encouragement” for one to consider bringing it out?
   
3. If I do not tip while checking out, do servers automatically think this ahole is a cheap crap so just let his food go rotten or he can choose to crawl inside himself?
   
4. I did see people tip cash from their windows, quite a lot of times. But that makes me wonder, is the window cash the second tip? First they tip on the check, then they give more (bravo)?
   

I know each restaurant has a different policy about keeping cash tips, but I really think the person who does the work deserves the appreciation, that’s why I do cash tips. Well, tell me that time is passed??

First, please don't respond with "you're choosing to work there". No. I don't choose to require food and shelter to survive, andI can't afford to spend several months being picky with job offers.
I recently was hired as a chef for a national restaurant. I won't say the name, but it's a bit classier than Olive Garden and the name rhythms with Sona.
Anyways, I signed 18 documents before being given my schedule. 18. These contractual documents sign away my right to file a wage dispute with the department of labor, sue the company for harassment or discrimination, and also requires servers to waive their right to minimum wage if they earn at least 30 dollars a month in tips. That's right. In the United States of America, this company is allowed to pay servers $2.75 an hour, plus $30 in tips, or under $500 a month for full-time hours.
Why is this allowed? Why don't workers have any damned leverage in this country?

Title. So for some context, we live in a pretty small apartment, 740 sqft.
Let me give a lay of the land: living area, dining area, kitchen are all technically in the same (biggest) room. Living area fits loveseat, sofa, TV facing. Small fridge in the corner. Dining area adjacent to sofa, seats 4. Cutaway "bar top" wall separates, dining and kitchen. Bedroom about 120 sqft.
Now for the stuff:
Loveseat cannot be used, entirely filled with items to greater than the backrest height. Half the dining table is filled with stuff. Two of the dining chairs are filled with stuff and clothes slung over them. The entire bar top (L shape that you go around and leads to kitchen) has stuff on top. Pretty much nearly every surface we could use in the kitchen is in use / has stuff. All of our cupboards are pretty much filled up. The small ottomans have stuff inside them. I open stuff atop the range or the sink because of no space. In our room, my half (third now) has a few clothes on the floor that I pick up and do laundry, 75% of her "half" of the rooms carpet has stuff or stacks of clothes. Our bedroom closet can be opened halfway because of stuff. 1/3 of the content in there is mine (including "shared" items like the vacuum)
Anyways, now for justifications.
She has long days at work in the restaurant, often 12+ hours. A lot of the BS and negativity gets absorbed with her and she tries her very best to not bring it home. But a decent amount of it spills into. So she has a habit of bringing home some cheap knick knack, or snack, or something to make her feel better as to not go crazy. Problem is, this stuff collects after a while , as you can probably tell above. She is very particular about knowing exactly where everything is and me not touching anything while she is gone. When she is home usually she pushes back. If I bring up the idea of cleaning up. She needs to be in the right headspace. This usually comes maybe once a year or biennially. Aside from that, develops strong attachments to the things she gets. Including expired food, if there was some some form of memory attached to it.
We've had many arguments and long talks over time about this , and she feels that the world is a place where everyone takes (particularly stemming from the entitlement from guests and servers she manages) and she needs a means to give something to herself. I am adding to this feeling of "people taking from her" when I propose cleaning up.
Now for my own preferences. I am relatively minimalist and get very uncomfortable when there's too much stuff around, I feel like my space is closing in on me. It's quite hard for me to move around the house, I always have to move something over if I want to eat or fix something up to eat , or sit at the couch, etc. I get very self-conscious about inviting people over (I generally just don't these days) because of Just how messy everything is. Literally our space can accommodate perhaps one guest- they could sit at couch while I'll sit at the dinner table and we can watch something or talk to each other like that. I also just generally feel like your living space is a reflection of yourself and when it's all cluttered like this It can affect your mental space.
Tl;Dr: our place is a mess. I want to clean up, but she has attachments to the things that I want to throw out. Arguments -usually- lead to putting it off another month, another year. The stuff builds.
