2024.05.19 05:14 CerealNumbers regarding electric-assist bicycle and katashiki-nintei(型式認定) sticker

posted on another group, might as well post here since its more specific to Tokyo.
so i bought an electric assist bicycle last week online(they have a japanese website and an office in Tokyo). I have thoroughly checked the bicycle if its within the regulation(pedal only, assist will turn of at 24kph etc.) and seen some Japanese youtubers reviewing the product so i bought it. Problem is when i went to a bike shop to register for bouhan-touroku(防犯登録), they denied since there is no katashiki-nintei(型式認定) sticker and explained to me that since there is no sticker, it is regarded as gentsuki(原付) already. I dont know about this since its my first time buying an electric-assist one. As of now im trying to contact the manufacturer and plan to return the bicycle but i would like some opinions on the said matter since some says that katashiki-nintei(型式認定) is merely optional and as long as the assist power is within regulation then its fine.

2024.05.19 05:12 OppositeObject909 A GameFi gem that you might be missing out: FabWelt

While the idea of virtual cash in video games is not new, game makers can now construct blockchain technology by incorporating real-world international economics into their games. Players of cryptocurrency games can use their gains from winning games to get participant-owned digital assets, often known as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Exchanges of stablecoins for virtual tokens obtained through centralized or decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges are common. These digital assets can be quickly exchanged into fiat money or bought, sold, or traded on online exchanges.
The creation of unique cryptocurrency games is financed in part by the sale of premium in-game goods like skins, virtual worlds, or even specific weapons. The creators then encourage users to play the game longer by rewarding them with NFTs or bitcoin for finishing missions. These missions are typically real assignments that need some sort of player involvement, such gathering resources or eliminating a certain amount of enemies. This is the address where you can find Fabwelt Studios.
Fabwelt wants to promote innovation in the game business by uniting the nation-states of DeFi, Play and Earn, and NFTs. Fabwelt is creating a metaverse gaming platform with games spanning all genres by utilizing the blockchain age.We accomplish this by fusing the most cutting-edge blockchain technology with the best games and technologies now accessible in each respective area to create something truly extraordinary. The sports sector is already rather big and is just getting bigger.
Through the integration of blockchain technology into this industry, Fabwelt is able to provide distinct and unmatched game assessments. To provide both gamers and non-gamers a completely unique experience, we have blended the two worlds. Fabwelt demonstrates this by producing incredible video games, such as Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and Touch of Duty, that improve gameplay, enjoyment, and even the means of subsistence for professional players.
We embed Play to Earn, DeFi, and in-recreation NFT technology directly into those video games. New features in Play to Earn include NFTs serving as collectible-like tactical tools in recreation and DEFI features like in-game farming and staking chances. Fabwelt Studios is going to provide you with this.

2024.05.19 05:10 Puginator As Tesla layoffs continue, here are 600 jobs the company cut in California

As part of Tesla’s massive restructuring, the electric-vehicle maker notified the California Employment Development Department this week that it’s cutting approximately 600 more employees at its manufacturing facilities and engineering offices between Fremont and Palo Alto.
The latest round of layoffs eliminated roles across the board — from entry-level positions to directors — and hit an array of departments, impacting factory workers, software developers and robotics engineers.
The cuts were reported in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, Act filing that CNBC obtained through a public records request.
Facing both weakening demand for Tesla electric vehicles and increased competition, the company has been slashing its headcount since at least January. CEO Elon Musk told employees in a memo in April that the company would cut more than 10% of its global workforce, which totaled 140,473 employees at the end of 2023.
Previous filings revealed that Tesla would cut more than 6,300 jobs across California; Austin, Texas; and Buffalo, New York.
Musk said on Tesla’s quarterly earnings call on April 23 that the company had built up a 25% to 30% “inefficiency” over the past several years, implying the layoffs underway could impact tens of thousands more employees than the 10% number would suggest.
According to the WARN filing, the 378 job cuts in Fremont, home to Tesla’s first U.S. manufacturing plant, included people involved in staffing and running vehicle assembly. There were 65 cuts at the company’s Kato Rd. battery development center.
Tesla didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Among the highest-level roles eliminated in Fremont were two environmental health and safety directors, and a user experience design director.
In Palo Alto, home to the company’s engineering headquarters, 233 more employees, including two directors of technical programs, lost their jobs.
Tesla has also terminated a majority of employees involved in designing and improving apps made for customers and employees, according to two former employees directly familiar with the matter. The WARN filing shows that to be the case, with many cut from the team at Tesla’s Hanover Street location in Palo Alto.
Tesla faces reduced demand for cars it makes in Fremont, including its older Model S and X vehicles and Model 3 sedan. Total deliveries dropped in the first quarter from a year earlier, and Tesla reported its steepest year-over-year revenue decline since 2012.
An onslaught of competition, especially in China, has continued to pressure Tesla’s sales in the second quarter. Xiaomi and Nio have each launched new EV models, which undercut the price of Tesla’s most popular vehicles.
Tesla’s stock price has tumbled about 30% so far this year, while the S&P 500 is up 11%.
Musk has been trying to convince investors not to focus on vehicle sales and instead to back Tesla’s potential to finally deliver self-driving software, a robotaxi, and a “sentient” humanoid robot. Musk and Tesla have long promised customers self-driving software that would turn their existing EVs into robotaxis, but the company’s systems still require constant human supervision.
Other recent job cuts at Tesla included the team responsible for building out the Supercharger, or electric-vehicle fast-charging network, in the U.S.
Tesla disclosed plans in its annual filing for 2023 to grow and optimize its charging infrastructure “to ensure cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction.” Tesla said in the filing that it needed to expand its “network in order to ensure adequate availability to meet customer demands,” after other auto companies announced plans to adopt the North American Charging Standard.
Since cutting most of its Supercharger team, Tesla has reportedly started to rehire at least some members, a move reminiscent of the job cuts Musk made at Twitter after he bought the company and later rebranded it as X. Musk told CNBC’s David Faber last year that he wanted to rehire some of those he let go.

2024.05.19 05:07 starscream258 Cost of 3rd party figures

Cost of 3rd party figures
Plastic figures should not cost an arm or leg. I understand the company who put in the effort for their design/3D renders etc should be appropriately remunerated for their work.
But consumers like you and I should not overpay.
Simple example: look at the figure about. Special version of ss3 goku black by kong. The typical price is 70-80. At AliExpress or other platform that rips off customers, it’s $100-120.
I got it for 53 usd with no shipping. And I included the ss1 ss2 hair as well. (Refer to pic 2)
No I am not bragging about my purchase. My point is that if it can be sold at that price point and profit is really made at that price point, $70-80 is kinda expensive isn’t it? Worse if u see it at above $100.
I would say for typical figures, 60-65 is a good price and the makers can be paid for each sale for their efforts. But $80 and higher?
I would like to praise 5k toys for pricing their broly/ fernir reasonably well. Iirc it’s about 80 for each version of broly. Given its size, I think it’s a good price.
Lastly, we vote with our wallets. If u think a figure is too expensive, make noise like how u guys let the devs know about the spiky hair broly needed to change.

2024.05.19 04:48 DefiantFlamingo8940 Traveling with a cardboard bike box, Montreal Airport - Air Canada

I recently traveled with a cardboard bike box through Montreal Airport (YUL) with Air Canada. It was my first time doing so and I had a few doubts beforehand. So I thought I'd share my experience here in case it could help others looking for information, as I've seen people discussing this subject here.
Where to get the box?
Any bike shop: -possibly the cheapest but also the most unreliable and time consuming -might need to call multiple shops, sometimes inconveniently located
CL Cycle (35$) -two bike shops in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, both about 1km away from a metro station -apparently sell cardboard bike boxes for 35$, sometimes show as out of stock online
Gare d’autocars de Montréal (17.25$) -Montreal’s bus station, situated downtown at Berri-UQAM metro station (easily reached by bike from central neighborhoods or by metro which accepts bikes outside of weekdays peak hours) -the option I went for as it's both affordable and convenient -sells bike boxes for 17.25$ through Expedibus shipping service -just ask for a bike box at the main bus ticket counter, no need to reserve in advance, they should pretty much always have them in stock, they also provide tape -I couldn't measure the box but it was not super long, I removed the front wheel and handlebar of my rigid 29er MTB (with an admittedly long wheelbase) and it just barely fit, some people may need to remove both wheels -there is one hole on each side to use as handle, but they're fragile, using them to lift the bike caused as significant tear in the cardboard that I had to patch -there’s usually plenty of space inside the bus station to work on your bike and pack it -while there are often colorful characters hanging around the bus station, Montreal is a safe place, but still keep an eye on your valuables -from the bus station there are regular city buses going to the airport (STM 747 line) which accept bikes and cost 11$
Montreal Airport - Safe Bag (70$) -two kiosks at the airport, opening hours from early morning to evening -over the phone they told me they sold cardboard bike boxes for 70$ each (which seems outrageous), and that they always have some available (no surprise) -while the airport is easily reachable by bike, it's a much longer bike ride than to the Gare d’autocars for people staying or living closer to downtown, a long bike ride that you might want to avoid before a long flight if the weather is rainy or super hot
How to get to the airport?
747 bus from the Gare d’autocars to the airport (11$) -costs 11$ which you can buy in person at the bus station counter when you buy your bike box, can also be bought anywhere else that sells STM tickets including the apps Chrono and Transit, can buy it as L’Occasionnelle which works as 24h day pass for public transit on Montreal Island including the airport bus -can pay cash in the bus with coins only and the bus driver does not provide change -the bus line runs 24h/7, multiple times per hour during the day and at least every hour at night -leaves directly from gate 15 inside the Gare d’autocars, and then makes a few stops downtown before taking the highway to the airport -should take 50min to an hour to get the airport depending on traffic, construction, and, more importantly, confused passengers not knowing how to pay their ticket -the bus accepts boxed bikes as explicitly cited by their website, but the racks are too small, you'll have to keep your box upright along the folding seats of the area reserved for handicapped people :( -see STM website for more up-to-date info
How to fly with a bike with Air Canada
Fixed 50$ fee no matter the destination -you do NOT need to have a checked baggage included in your fare (for example, you can buy the cheapest economy fare type without any checked baggage, you will only have to pay 50$ for the bike, and not 50$ + whatever is the price for one checked baggage) -before buying your flight you can call this number to see if there is room available for your bike box on a specific flight: 18882472262 -after buying your ticket, call the same number to tell them to reserve a place for your bike, if by bad luck there's no room you can always get a refund within 24h of buying your ticket -do your online check-in, available the day before your flight, indicate that you will be traveling with one bike and pay the 50$ fee -once at the airport go to an Air Canada self check-in kiosk, click on the baggage options (I think it was called “modify baggage” even if you won't be modifying it), it should show you’re traveling with a bike, click to continue and it’ll print stickers for your bike box -go to the oversized luggage area, they’ll ask you to open the box for them to check it and then they'll give you tape to close it
Open to hearing your experiences.
*All prices in Canadian dollars
TLDR: Simplest reliable and affordable way to travel with a cardboard bike box to YUL is imo: -bike/metro to Gare d’autocars -buy 17.25$ bike box there -take 11$ 747 bus to YUL -pay airline specific bike fee (50$ with Air Canada, no extra fee)

There aren't any mainstream custom servers for LBP3 on current-gen, as far as I am aware. Is anyone actively working on making one?

I've always been a Dirt Bike guy, but now I'm looking at getting a utility ATV for practical use for work on land (the fun comes with it obviously). I've never purchased an ATV before, even though I have plenty of experience riding them. I see prices online for used are decent, but I'm very anal about how the previous owner took care of it. I've never bought a new vehicle, but could a new ATV from a dealer be a good exception? I look at it as it'll be used for as many years as I possibly can.

2024.05.19 04:21 Fearless_Dingo_6294 Question about finding prints

Hello — I’m sorry if this is a stupid question or the wrong sub.
I’m a huge fan of art of all styles and media. I have a long list of art (mostly paintings and drawings) that I’ve come across in museums and online that I’d love to have copies of to hang in my home. I obviously can’t afford to buy originals.
However, my problem is that the vast majority of the art that I want doesn’t seem to be available for purchase in print copies. Is there a way around this? I would of course love to pay the artist where applicable, although some of the art I want is hundreds of years old. Is it wrong/illegal to just custom order a printout of the paintings I want? Any other suggestions? Or do I just live without them?

2024.05.19 04:14 StitchnDish Early for the Full Moon crowd

So today was a sh!¥ show,… people were straight up bat crap crazy! So crazy in fact that I checked my moon phase app to see if it was a full moon!
BOPIS: 1 item shorted, customer insisted that she was charged. I explained it (3 times) that once the pick up with the shorted item hit the system, she’ll be credited. She left but she came back several hours later and went to look for the shorted item.
Mind you,… we had staff stocking and putting out items all morning. She comes to the register and waves it in my face, asking why her online order didn’t have this when she found it right there?
I explained that it was fulfilled when the item was out and that the item was likely restocked after her order was filled. She didn’t like that, and kept pressing the issue as to why it wasn’t added to her order AND that she should get that one free since she already paid for it.
Finally, this was 1 troll too many for me today, so I stopped, turned around and said “Well, people are human - AND, let’s face it - we’re not doing surgery here so,…”
That wasn’t even the worst today but good grief people. We’re understaffed, juggling multiple tasks and doing the best we can. Get OVER yourselves.
Here’s another thought: since you want to sashay back to that aisle and point out that we didn’t add something to your BOPIS order,… maybe do your own shopping. I mean, if you’re going to stomp back there and bring things up to the register to argue with me - same expenditure of energy but with more efficiency and less aggravation, right!?!
