Hi everyone ! I wanted to share my experience with the GMAT FE and ask a question as well. I received a score of 705 which is close to 99 percentile. This was something I wasn't expecting honestly from all the mocks I did
Here is my preparation journey:
GMAT day Experience (Quant, Verbal then DI):
Score Breakdown
My question to the GMAT Experts in this forum is that I wanted to target schools such as MIT, Stanford, Kellogg, Wharton, Harvard. Given the imbalance in the percentile, should I retake the exam ??? For little background, I am a Data Scientist with Masters from M10 school.

2024.05.19 06:28 ArkRecovered2030 [The Fast and the Furious] - Dom and Brian's Relationship Was A Prophetic Allegory

The original "The Fast and the Furious" released in 2001, contains a biblical subplot. This isn't as farfetched as it seems, considering that this film was re-written before its release by David Ayer, who is considered "...one of the five most prominent Christians in Hollywood." The original screenplay was written by Gary Scott Thompson. His vision for the film was for an all Italian cast racing through the streets of New York City. David Ayer, rendered some rewrites that made the film what has become these 20-something years later. One of his changes sets the film in Los Angeles instead of New York. Scripturally, angels are messengers and there surely is a message in this film, which is a re-telling of Revelation 13 using the analogy of cars and street racing.
To sum up the message of Revelation 13 is this: The Roman Catholic Church represented by "the sea beast" (Revelation 13:1) unites with America represented by "the earth beast" (Revelation 13:11) to issue the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16-18). Scripture supplies the most in-depth literature known to man and this film has become a pop-culture gem because of it. Let's look at some of the symbolism.
Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is an allegory of the Roman Catholic Church. The name Dominic is derived from the Latin Dominicus and is a name given to boys born on Sunday. It is the root word for "Domingo" which is Spanish for Sunday. Contrary to the 7th Day Sabbath of the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:8), Catholics instituted their own day of worship, which is Sunday. Priest Brady, in an address, reported in the Elizabeth, NJ ‘News’ on March 18, 1903, stated, "It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and all other Christians, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in their observance of Sunday. Sunday is an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and those who observe the day observe a commandment of the Catholic Church." Their are many pontifical orders in the Catholic Church and one of them is the "Dom-inican" Order. Pope Pius V was of the Dominican Order and he instituted the Inquisition. The Dominican monks are known for brewing beer and in the movie, Dom is constantly advertising "Corona Beer." Dominic Toretto drives a 1993 Mazda RX-7 FD. At the core of this car is a turbocharged Wankel motor, driven by rotors instead of pistons. The rotors are Releaux triangles and were prominent features on gothic style Catholic Churches. The Releaux triangle is also the basic shape for the triquetra which a symbol for the Trinity. The Trinity is never mentioned in Scripture as a name for God which is important. The Trinity is a Catholic invention. The Roman Catholic Church is named as such because it absorbed practices and traditions from the Roman Empire. It was Constantine that issued the first Sunday Law; an attempt to make Sunday holy. They used to hold races in the Coliseum to honor the Roman trinity known as the Captoline Triad or the Archaic Triad. The name Trinity was coined by Tertullian, a staunch Romanist. This is why Dominic uses three Honda Civics to pull of the heists, because Trinitarians believe the Holy Spirit is another being form that sits on the Throne of God; three on the throne. In reality, there are only two being forms, the Father and the Son, on the throne, with their Spirit being inherently there. Dominic's RX-7 has a Veilside body kit. The "veil" (Hebrews 10:20) is symbolic of Jesus Christ and the pope believes that He is an additional incarnation of Christ. In the beginning of Fast X, Dominic is portrayed as a defender of the Vatican and St. Peters. Dominic Toretto is the Roman Catholic Church.
Brian Spilner [O'Conner] (Paul Walker) is an allegory of American Protestantism. The name Brian means "noble" and nobility is defined as having "high morals standards and ideals." Brian is also a police officer or a keeper of the law. America was established as a Protestant Christian nation with the intent of upholding the Law of God. Most Protestants today have forsaken the Sabbath command and uphold the Catholic Sunday. Brian is also on the "wine of Babylon" and is seen drinking and distributing alcohol throughout the film. Protestant denominations now also believe in the Trinity, significantly compromising the strength of the Protest. Is this reflected in Brian's ride? Yes. Brian drives a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Mitsubishi symbol is a trinity of diamonds or rhombuses. At the heart of the Eclipse is a PentaStar 4G63 built by Chrysler. Chrysler secured a $75 million war contract to aid in producing J. Robert Oppenheimers "Little Boy"; the atomic bomb dropped on, of all places, Japan. The codename for the first atomic bomb test was "Trinity", named for the Catholic triune god. The American symbolism for Brian's car doesn't stop there. The American rebadged version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, is the Eagle Talon. There is also an abstract blue and white eagle on the side of Brian's car; the eagle being a prominent symbol for America. Brian's surname "O'Connor" is of Irish origin. Catholics have slandered the name of St. Patrick claiming that he used the shamrock to preach the Trinity, but in reality he was vehemently against, or protested, the Catholic doctrine or the Trinity. Revelation 13:11 says that America sprang up like a Lamb (a symbol of Jesus Christ) but began to speak as a dragon (a symbol for Satan.) This denotes compromise. Brian is seen sitting with Dominic many times drinking alcohol, a sure fire way to lower your inhibitions and compromise your integrity. Brian has illicit relations with Mia, Dominic's sister [who openly displays her devotion to the Catholic Church in the film], which seals his compromise. Brian then ends up lying to his superiors after sleeping with Dom's sister. Brian is an Apostate (Lawless) Protestant Church.
Brian loses his car to Dom in a street race, which transfers ownership of the American-powered Eclipse to Dominic. Eventually, America will be owned by the Roman Catholic Church and will "build an image to the beast" and issue the Mark of the Beast on their behalf. The Eclipse is destroyed. Is not America in such a a state of declension, that the calling of a moral leader seems like the only way to save this country? Remember, Pope Francis came to America in 2015 and addressed not only the nation from the White House, but also an active session of Congress. We are a constitutionally church and state separate nation. What was the Pope doing there? Dom and Brian start working on another car to replace the destroyed Eclipse; a 1994 Toyota Supra. Before 1990, there was no official symbol for Toyota. On October 2, 1989, the official logo was released. The symbol is a "T" comprised of a trinity of ellipses. The code name for a 1994-1998 Supra is the Mark IV(4). So the Toyota Supra contains as mark and a trinity.
So what is the Mark of the Beast? Sunday observance and worship enforced by law. Dominic's name associates him with Sunday and Brian, being a police officer, associates him with the law. When they united to build the Supra together, it symbolized a National Sunday Law aka The Mark of the Beast. Their union also is symbolic of the formation of church and state in America: the "image to the beast." By the way, all graphics for the cars in the film were supplied by "Modern Image." When this forms, we are in "Barney Rubble Trouble." We are a country built on ecclesiastical liberty, but when a Sunday Law is put into motion, those who accept the law, will lose their "Liberty of Conscience." No good. This is why when Pope Francis addressed an active session of Congress, where we pass laws, was not a good sign. In fact, Pope Francis chose a Fiat 500 to ride in when he came to America. The word "fiat" translates to "law." This was not a coincidence.
How does this movie end? After one final race, Dominic flips his car, receiving a "deadly wound" (Revelation 13:3). Dominic (the pope, the outlaw) is not captured and brought up on charges as he should. Instead, Brian (America, the law, the Image to the Beast) hands over the keys to the Supra, giving Dominic complete power and ownership. Scripture says that the Roman Catholic Church will come to an end and that God's true people need to "come out of her...lest ye be partakers of her plagues..."
The promotion of Sunday, the exaltation of the Trinity, the apocalyptic formation of the Image of the Beast (Church and State) and the fraudulent retelling of prophecy is all contained in a little movie about street racing released almost 23 years ago. The sequels, attractions, and merchandise have never ceased to roll off the assembly line. Sequels that point to Dominic as a Catholic Champion. Even in "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift", the first song to play is "Six Days" by DJ Shadow. [Refer to Exodus -11] This song puts Monday as the first day of the week making Sunday the Seventh Day, giving Sunday the appearance that it is the Sabbath of the Lord. Yes. The Fast and the Furious is arrayed against the Law of God. The sobering fact is, Revelation 13 is already being played out right in front of our eyes. This film, which could arguably be called "The Last Great Film Before 9/11", portrayed the various steps and phases that America, nay the world, was about to go through, with the audience unaware. Sadly, Paul Walker has passed, but the message lives on today, with the OG Fast and Furious still being the greatest effort in the series.
Thank you for your time and consideration. 🙏🏾🙏🏽
Please watch the video Swift to Mischief: A Prophetic Exposition of "The Fast and the Furious" for greater detail.

2024.05.19 06:19 Rainyfriedtofu Clover Assistant vs Epic and the tale of Peter Part 1.

Hello Fellow Apes,
In my recent posts, there were discussions regarding how Clover Assistant will compete with Epic EHEMR in the future, and someone asked about how CA can make EMR better. To understand this thesis, we're going to start by looking at the two offering in a table. It's going to be a long one.
Clover Assistant Epic
Clover Assistant is a clinical support tool designed by Clover Health, a health insurance company. It aims to help physicians make more informed decisions by providing them with actionable insights at the point of care. The tool integrates data from various sources to present a comprehensive view of a patient's health, aiming to improve outcomes and streamline care delivery. At the moment, CA has the capacity to integrate with Epic. CA is primarily focuses on enhancing clinical decision-making by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis. It is designed to complement existing EHR. However, in the future I think CA will break away from this, and we will go into more detail when we look at the history of Epic. Epic Systems Corporation provides one of the most widely used electronic health record (EHR) systems in the United States and globally. Epic EHR is a comprehensive platform that covers various aspects of healthcare management, including patient records, scheduling, billing, and clinical workflows. Epic is a full-fledged EHR system that manages all aspects of patient care and hospital administration. It includes modules for clinical workflows, patient scheduling, billing, and etc. CA isn't at this level yet.
CA is designed to integrate with various EHR systems, providing a layer of intelligence on top of existing workflows. Its goal is to enhance the data already present in the EHRs with additional insights. It does so by aggregating data from multiple sources, including claims data, lab results, and patient-reported information. It uses this data to offer real-time recommendations and insights to physicians. Additionally, it offers insights in a concise, actionable format to help physicians quickly make informed decisions. We don't know what the cost of CA implementation will be, but I know 100% it will be cheaper than Epic, and in the future it will have the same features as Epic. Epic is known for its interoperability through the use of standards like HL7 and FHIR, allowing it to connect with other systems and share data across different healthcare providers and organizations. It collects and stores a wide range of clinical and administrative data. While it offers decision support tools, its primary function is data management and workflow facilitation. However, there are a lot of manual work involved for those who use this because it is an older system. While functional, Epic is often criticized for its complexity and steep learning curve. However, it is also praised for its extensive customization options, allowing organizations to tailor the system to their specific needs. The biggest problem with Epic is it is known for its high implementation costs and resource-intensive deployment process. However, it advertises itself as a comprehensive solution that can manage all aspects of healthcare operations.
With the comparison between Epic and Clover Assistant clarified, let's delve into the history of Epic Systems Corporation. Founded in 1979 by Judith R. Faulkner, Epic started as a small company focused on developing database management systems for healthcare. Initially, it faced several challenges, but these obstacles helped shape its pivotal role in the healthcare industry.
Epic's first product was Chronicles, a clinical database management system designed to handle patient records and clinical data. This foundational product set the stage for the more comprehensive EHR systems Epic would later develop. Notably, Epic adopted a client-server architecture early on, which was advanced for its time. This technology allowed multiple users to access and update patient records simultaneously, significantly improving efficiency and collaboration in healthcare settings.
In its early years, Epic primarily catered to small to mid-sized healthcare organizations, including hospitals and clinics. The potential to streamline operations and improve patient care through better data management attracted these early adopters. Epic's readiness to customize its software to meet the specific needs of each client helped build strong relationships and loyalty among its early customers.
One significant challenge Epic faced was integrating its systems with the existing healthcare infrastructure. Many healthcare providers operated disparate systems that did not easily communicate with each other. Epic addressed this by evolving into one of the leading providers of EHR systems, gradually expanding into almost every healthcare system. As Epic's client base grew, the company had to ensure its systems could scale to handle larger volumes of data and more complex operations.
From the outset, Epic focused on designing systems that were user-friendly and tailored to the workflows of healthcare professionals. This emphasis on usability set it apart from competitors. The company also invested heavily in developing standards for data exchange and interoperability, which later became crucial as the healthcare industry moved towards more integrated and connected systems.
Epic's success stories from early clients built a strong reputation in the healthcare industry, helping to attract new customers. The company formed partnerships with academic medical centers, which drove innovation and provided a platform for testing and refining new features. Epic continuously reinvested in research and development, ensuring its products remained at the cutting edge of technology and met the evolving needs of healthcare providers. The robust customer support system, including extensive training programs for users, was vital for successful implementations and fostering long-term customer relationships.
Epic played a significant role in setting standards for electronic health records and healthcare IT. Its systems helped drive the adoption of standardized practices across the industry. Early implementations of Epic's systems demonstrated significant improvements in operational efficiency, reducing administrative burdens and allowing healthcare providers to focus more on patient care.
Moving forward, the healthcare industry recognizes that the new frontier is based on a strong foundation of social determinants of health and preventative medicine. With that said, it is evident that Epic has built a comprehensive platform that covers various aspects of healthcare management. Starting as merely an EHR company, Epic has added numerous features, setting a precedent that newer entrants like Clover Assistant are following. Clover Assistant, an AI clinical support tool, aims to modernize EHR usage by helping physicians process data with speed and accuracy not possible by a normal human. In the future, just like Epic, Clover Assistant is expected to add more features. The key differentiators moving forward will likely be cost, compliance with evolving standards like CMS-HCC V28, and adaptability to policy changes.
Currently, the estimated cost for implementing Epic is:
Andrew mentioned that Clover Assistant (CA) plans to adopt a Software as a Service (SaaS) revenue model, charging on a per member per month basis. This pricing strategy aims to provide a steady, recurring income and is designed to be affordable and scalable, particularly for small businesses. For example, the hypothetical cost could be around $5 per patient per month (I'm pulling these numbers out of my ass because I don't have Clov's data). This pricing structure makes it feasible for private practices to adopt the system and have a positive experience with it. The goal is to replicate the success of systems like Epic by providing a cost-effective and manageable solution for healthcare providers. The person who will be leading this charge will be none other than Peter Kuipers.
Peter Kuipers is a seasoned financial executive with over 25 years of experience in technology leadership. He has held senior financial roles in various prominent companies, including Omnicell, Quantcast Corporation, The Weather Company, Yahoo!, Altera Corporation, General Electric, and Akzo Nobel. Before joining Clov, Peter served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Omnicell, a healthcare technology company focused on medication and supply management solutions. He joined Omnicell in August 2015 and played a crucial role in the company's financial and strategic development. During his tenure at Omnicell, Kuipers contributed significantly to the company's growth, helping to increase its revenue from $485 million to $1.3 billion. His responsibilities extended beyond the traditional CFO role, as he also oversaw global supply chain and manufacturing, information technology, international business, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions. His efforts were pivotal in transforming Omnicell into a leader in cloud-based platforms and SaaS/Tech-Enabled Services for the healthcare industry. He also oversaw various strategic initiatives, including international business expansion and mergers and acquisitions, contributing to Omnicell's global reach and market leadership.
I became aware of Peter Kuipers and Omnicell because Upsetweekend's company, along with many others, shifted from using Pyxis Oncology to Omnicell. Initially, Pyxis Oncology offered superior tools and services. However, during Peter's tenure at Omnicell, not only did the company offer more cost-effective solutions, but it also began to provide superior services. Securing Peter as a CFO for Clover was quite a coup, and it's impressive that they managed to attract such a seasoned executive to a smaller, less established company. Given his extensive experience and track record, Peter is well-equipped to strategically price and market Clover Assistant (CA). His expertise will likely be pivotal in attracting early adopters and expanding the company's operations. Just look at Omincell's stock price during his tenure.
https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/NASDAQ-OMCL/
At their core, both Clover Assistant (CA) and Epic are tools designed for electronic health record (EHR) management. They facilitate the presentation of data to physicians, enabling them to devise accurate treatment plans. However, there are notable differences between the two systems, primarily driven by their technological foundations and target functionalities.
Clover Assistant: This is a relatively new tool that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) to process EHR data, aiming to simplify and enhance the efficiency of physicians' work. The use of AI allows Clover Assistant to offer advanced data analysis, potentially providing more insightful recommendations and support for clinical decisions.
Epic: As an older and more established EHR system, Epic has a broad user base and is deeply integrated into many healthcare institutions' workflows. While it is built on an older technological framework, it is robust and extensively supports various healthcare operations from patient records management to billing.
The analogy of video game development is apt for comparing these systems. Imagine Epic as a game built on an earlier version of the Unreal Engine, while Clover Assistant is akin to a game developed on Unreal Engine 5. The newer engine (or in this case, the newer AI-driven platform of Clover Assistant) offers enhanced capabilities, such as better processing power and more advanced features, which may not be as optimized in the older system used by Epic.
As Clover Assistant gains traction and proves its efficacy and cost-efficiency, it could start to compete more directly with Epic, especially if it continues to attract positive feedback from early adopters. This competition could push both platforms to continuously innovate and improve, potentially leading to better EHR management tools available to healthcare providers.
In summary, while both tools serve the fundamental purpose of managing health records and aiding treatment planning, their underlying technologies and approaches to handling data greatly influence their capabilities and potential impact on the healthcare industry.
*Update* I forgot to delete the title, but there will not be a part 2. I'm tired ^_^

2024.05.19 06:04 Heliumorchid Hate the iOS typing experience. Am I alone? Any solutions?

I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 15, AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch and an iPad. I actually love all of these products except for my iPhone. Specifically the typing experience. I have been using an android phone since I ditched the iPhone 5s 10 years or so ago.
The android keyboard makes so much more sense and is exceptionally functional and rich with practical features that are so handy.
The most irritating thing about the ios keyboard is how often I hear “you’ll get used to it” from others who use the iPhone. I’ve heard that from Apple tech support and other dumb Apple fan folks who got an iPhone for flaunt value.
I specifically got the iPhone because of my MacBook and Apple Watch. I just wanted to have a more seamless integration with the MacBook and watch.
But everyday I have to fight against this sh*tty keyboard as it automatically uncorrects my texts, I have to go into submenus just to add a period or @ on an email field. And I suddenly find that the return button is replaced with # at certain layers of the keyboard. And why tf can’t I have a dedicated number row and why must I sacrifice the suggestions row if I install a third party keyboard with dedicated number row?
I’ve watched the keyboard shortcut tutorials and I use the double space to add a period but, what about a comma?
I’m tired of apple fans telling me that Apple is about simplicity and that I just don’t get it. Simplicity in looks and complicated usage doesn’t particularly count as simplicity imo. I find the android keyboard a lot more intimidating to look at, at first glance but it just makes typing a lot simpler. It automatically gives me the last few items that were copied to the clipboard. And when I copy a whole lot of text it shows me the links within the text and the numbers separately in the suggestion box as I go to paste it somewhere. This way if I copy an SMS with an otp code it automatically lets me paste just the otp instead of me having to paste the whole thing and then manually delete the remaining stuff. On ios I can’t even find a “select all” option on large pieces of text. For example if I have to select this whole post as I’m typing it here I have to manually move the starting and end points of the selection to fill the entire page. What if I have a 40 page document that I must copy the text of?
And why is it impossible to get a third party app that circumvents all this nonsense? Even the google keyboard on iOS is severely restricted.
I sometimes wonder if Apple has a highly paid dedicated team specifically tasked with making the ios keyboard as sh*tty as it is. Because a trillion dollar company cannot make a software product this stupid and dysfunctional if it isn’t deliberately trying to do just that.
Please tell me I’m not alone in being this frustrated with the typing experience on the iPhone. If you believe there is nothing wrong with the ios keyboard also let me know if you’ve never used an android keyboard.
I want to know if I’m missing something or if it really is as sh*tty for everyone else and we are all pretending it’s ok.
Important questions:-
  1. Am I alone in finding the ios typing experience this frustrating?
  2. If you felt this way and did something that changes it, what did you do to improve it? (Other than getting used to it)

2024.05.19 05:25 Time-is-relative Duolingo's boring

Like I said in the tittle, I find duolingo to be an absolute bore. I have a 622 day streak as of today, and at this point I'm just slogging through it to keep the number. There are 6 activies
Read in target language and translate to your own Read in your own language and translate to your target language Listen in target language and write out Speaking Word match Stories
I used to be able to actually pick and choose the things I could learn about, but now it's all gone. I understand the path was a good change, but now I can't even try and engage in interesting topics. Im forced to read kiddie stories about Lily being nervous to show off her art. I have Duolingo Super and that's the only thing that makes the practice hub useful, but I'd have to pay even more to get their AI chat feature which isn't even that much.
I'm just bored of the slog. Every practice feels the same, and I wish there was some actual variation in the learning pattern. Or at least more personal freedom.

2024.05.19 04:29 MegoPrime (USA) Looking for a financed car

I'll be 18 in October. Until then I'm saving up at least $600 a month for a down payment, then I'll get a loan later blah blah anyways (20k - 30kish)

I'm 6ft 2in and I'm all about being comfortable I really like SUVs as well but I'm also worried about gas mileage. I don't want to go back to back to the gas station.
I won't be doing any off roading, but it will be a lot of daily highway/city driving (everyday) and long roadtrips sometimes that needs to fit around 4-5 ppl with decent trunk space
Random thoughts: 1. I love the way captain seats look 2. Im a bass head so I would rather the sound system come with the car before I have to replace it. I rather great quality sound without rattling 3. Would be great if backseats went all the way down to fit more in trunk (or a mattress 😅) 4. Toyota, Honda, or Nissan otherwise my family will give me the evilest side eyes 5. I'd rather keep maintenance at home 5a. I plan to keep this for a long time, I don't want to go back and forth buying new cars, or in the shop 6. Ambient lighting would be dope inside the car
Please ask questions because this is my first car, right now I'm practicing with a class E license and I don't know everything "feature" wise inside a car
I'll be in the comments, thanks in advance

2024.05.19 04:17 No-Ride-6979 The Price Gap explosion

Many years ago, Casio was world-renowned for making quality products at a low price, in the 80s casio watches was the bane of many a teacher( many you can still buy today ) teachers would take our Casio calculator watches off us in school.
It wasn't long before the idea of premium was released worldwide, although they featured premium materials, titanium, and such like, yet they were able to keep the pricing within a reasonable amount, the MTG line and the MRG line, still can be found today at a fraction of the cost of today's premium gshocks albeit with fewer features but with better or at least similar metals.
But at some point, Casio started to over-inflate the prices of these steel and titanium models, I shudder to think of the price of a Titanium Gshock in today's market. I'm well aware that many people don't mind paying an unproportionate price for doing so, myself included to some degree, and that's fine, I mean if it's what you want, go for it, as long as you're happy, that's what Gshocks are about, something that doesn't take itself too serious, something fun and cool to look at...yet it still has to be said, Casio inflated their premium features giving the customer less for their money proportionately speaking. Since the early 80s steel was in an economic slump, meaning more value for the customer, since 2008 this swung the other way and I doubt it's ever going to swing back, Casio knows people will spend as they will so I don't think they'll be dropping their prices for metals even if metals did drop in price, they know the free market is a boon for their product, people want them and will pay what they think something is worth.
Consider the dw5000c, a G at a great value and they're making a profit off them. Yet they can add some steel to it and the price goes roughly 1000 % more..
What I'm starting to wonder is that there is the same amount of fun to be had from the basic ground roots fun of a Casio, It was there in the beginning and what made Casios fun to wear..somewhere along the way I forgot this, and became a G watch snob, paying too much for something I could have enjoyed equally at much lower prices, I got caught up in the rabbit hole and lost what was also beautiful, the cheapest side of Casios art.
I applaud everyone for everything they own, every Casio, every Gshock, every Edifice, and everything in between, being happy is what this is all about, but for myself, I'm wondering now..is less more..the free market decides, I think that's why there will always be a $20 Casio and a $4000 Casio, just saying there used to be a time when an it was more of a proportionate cost for a premium edition..but that's just me talking, it's worth exactly what you or I decide to pay for it...seems a fair practice.
Casio got smart..welcome to the free market.
I don't mean to upset any owners, just wondering if there are others that would agree or disagree and why?

2024.05.19 04:05 Realzyzy_YT Hypixel Bedwars

Hypixel BedWars is a popular multiplayer game mode within the Minecraft server Hypixel. In BedWars, players are divided into teams and placed on islands with beds. The objective is to protect your team's bed while attempting to destroy the beds of other teams. Once a team's bed is destroyed, they can no longer respawn when they die. The last team with their bed intact wins the game. Players can collect resources from generators on their island, use them to purchase weapons, armor, and blocks, and strategize to outmaneuver and defeat their opponents. It's a fast-paced and strategic game mode that requires teamwork, resource management, and PvP (player versus player) skills
  1. Maps: BedWars features a variety of maps, each with its own unique layout and challenges. Some maps may have different island configurations, varying resource generators, or obstacles that players must navigate.
  2. Upgrades: Players can use resources collected from generators to upgrade their gear, such as improving their weapons and armor, fortifying their base defenses, or upgrading their resource generators to produce resources at a faster rate.
  3. Teamwork: Successful teamwork is crucial in BedWars. Players must communicate effectively with their teammates to coordinate strategies, defend their bed, launch coordinated attacks on other teams, and assist each other in battles.
  4. Strategies: BedWars offers a wide range of strategic possibilities. Teams can choose to play defensively, focusing on fortifying their own base and protecting their bed, or they can adopt aggressive tactics, launching early attacks on other teams to eliminate them quickly.
  5. Solo and Team Modes: BedWars can be played in both solo and team modes. In solo mode, each player competes individually against other solo players or teams. In team modes, players form teams of two, three, or four members to compete against other teams.
  6. Events and Tournaments: Hypixel frequently hosts events and tournaments for BedWars, allowing players to compete for prizes and recognition. These events may feature special game modes, unique maps, or modified gameplay rules.
  7. Community: BedWars has a large and active community of players who create content, share strategies, and participate in discussions on forums, social media, and streaming platforms.
Overall, Hypixel BedWars offers a dynamic and engaging multiplayer experience within the Minecraft universe, combining elements of strategy, teamwork, and PvP combat.
Economy: Managing resources effectively is key to success in BedWars. Players must decide how to allocate their resources between upgrading their gear, purchasing defensive blocks for their base, and buying weapons and tools for attacking other teams.
  1. Bridging: Bridging is a crucial skill in BedWars. Players often need to quickly build bridges to reach other islands, either for gathering resources from generators or launching attacks on enemy teams. Different bridging techniques, such as speed bridging or diagonal bridging, can give players an advantage in maneuverability.
  2. Combat Mechanics: BedWars features fast-paced PvP combat, where players engage in battles using swords, bows, and other weapons. Mastering combat mechanics, such as timing your attacks, strafing to dodge enemy hits, and aiming accurately with bows, can greatly improve your chances of success in battles.
  3. Map Control: Controlling key areas of the map can provide strategic advantages in BedWars. Some maps feature central islands with powerful resources or advantages, which teams may compete to control. Securing these central islands can give a team an edge over their opponents.
  4. Updates and Balance Changes: The Hypixel team regularly updates BedWars with new content, features, and balance changes to keep the gameplay fresh and balanced. These updates may introduce new maps, items, or gameplay mechanics, or adjust the stats and costs of existing items to ensure fair and enjoyable gameplay for all players.
  5. Community Features: Hypixel BedWars includes various community features, such as leaderboards, achievements, and in-game chat, which allow players to connect, compete, and socialize with each other. Community-created content, such as custom maps and resource packs, further enhances the gaming experience.
  6. Learning Curve: While BedWars is easy to pick up and play, mastering its intricacies and strategies can take time and practice. New players may initially struggle with basic skills such as bridging and PvP combat, but with perseverance and experience, they can improve and become formidable competitors.
  7. Customization: Players can customize their gameplay experience in BedWars by choosing different kits, which provide unique abilities and advantages during matches. Additionally, cosmetic items such as skins, particles, and victory dances allow players to personalize their in-game appearance and express their individuality.
Overall, Hypixel BedWars offers a rich and immersive multiplayer experience with a depth of gameplay mechanics, strategic depth, and community engagement that keeps players coming back for more.

The original beauty, the teachers not looking fun side of Casio, the data banks fun., no solar, no multi-band, no Bluetooth, gimme a Casio.

2024.05.19 03:06 House_of_Lij Lij's Drag Race Recasted: CVSTW EP4 "Comedy Queens" Lip-Sync

The "Comedy Quens" Stand-Up Challenge results are in!
DURING THE EPISODE...
Monét X Change has won the "Cameo-Style Filmed Videos" Mini Challenge!

── ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ 🇨🇦 ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖──

ON THE MAINSTAGE...
The tops and bottoms of the week step forward to hear their critiques...
Adore Delano receives negative critiques from the judges. Brad told her that the main problem with her performance this week was that she started well and did well overall, but she let them see she was sweating too much. She kept dropping the f-bomb every 5 seconds and dropped her cards when she knew they were out of order. She didn't let it flow as much as needed. She was allowed structure like every other queen, but she relied on the structure instead of being her naturally funny self. Her runway this week, though, is gorgeous. She blended her rebel aesthetic into this gorgeous elevated punk look.
Angeria Paris VanMichaels receives positive critiques from the judges. Brooke told Angeria that her performance this week was just a fantastic level. She came out and told them the funniest story on the planet, and even though they didn't believe it was 100% true in hindsight, the way she said it had them hooked every second. Facial expressions, voices, body movements; she put everything into that performance to make them laugh, and it worked. This week, her runway also disappointed them; loving how she made this southern belle mixed with this plaid aesthetic but noticed minor clashes.
Eva Le Queen receives positive critiques from the judges. The judges say that she's one of those queens who don't know what she'll do next because this comedic performance was fantastic. She blended stories from her childhood into this funny stand-up set, even working with the crowd to make them laugh and make herself relatable. That's what she did best as a comedienne, making herself relatable to the crowd and making sure they felt comfortable laughing at every joke she made, no matter how wild. Her runway was gorgeous and different for her, but just because it's plaid doesn't mean it's Vivienne Westwood.
Monét X Change receives positive critiques from the judges. Traci says she had the best performance of the entire night. She made an intelligent decision by putting herself last because she warmed them up again with one final excellent performance. She told these fantastic stories, complete with crowd work and whole-body movements where she dove across the stage and made them laugh. She had no holds barred with this challenge because she put her everything, clearly so hungry for a win. Even though her runway this week isn't their favorite, they love how she blended the plaid into this dragged-up lumberjack.
Plastique Tiara receives negative critiques from the judges. The judges say that she is more than just a pretty face; she had to prove that when it came to comedy. It wasn't that she wasn't funny; it was just that she performed it as more of a roast than a stand-up. She came out and started telling them stories about the competition and making fun of the other girls. It was funny at some points but oddly unrelatable for others since she was saying things that would only be funny if the audience had been there. Her runway, though? It was a superb Heathers-inspired ensemble with a funny death reveal.
Shannel receives negative critiques from the judges. Brooke says that the main thing they have to say about Shannel is that she left them more to be desired this week. She had to start the whole thing since she wanted to be first so severely, but she didn't do what was required of her. She is a drag professional by the way she handled the scene. Still, she seemed to be monologuing consistently and needed to make more effort to interject the comedy into a speech. This week's runway also disappoints them since this is her 6th time wearing a gown, and she needs to switch it up.
Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Monét X Change, Condragulations! You are the Top Two All Stars of the week!
Plastique Tiara, Shannel...I'm sorry, my Dears. You are both up for elimination.

DURING UNTUCKED...

── ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ 🇨🇦 ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖──

AFTER DELIBERATION...
Angeria Paris VanMichaels and Plastique Tiara make their lipstick choices and walk back to the stage, where the other Queens are waiting for them...
TOP2: Angeria Paris VanMichaels / Monét X Change
HIGH: Eva Le Queen
LOW: Adore Delano
BTM2: Plastique Tiara / Shannel
The Top Two Queens will Lip-Sync for their Legacy to "Your Daddy Don't Know" by Toronto. This is your chance to impress me, win the challenge prize, and gain the power to give one of the Bottom Queens the chop. Good Luck, and Don't Fuck It Up!

2024.05.19 02:21 Chonk_Lord98 Chonk_Lord48's C5S2 Comprehensive Tier List

To whom it may concern,
Shalom. Introductions aside, just know that I am a hardcore gamer who has pristine observation skills. I wanted to take it upon myself to give a comprehensive Tier List of the entirety of Chapter 5, Season 2 weapons.
This is not a spreadsheet, no specific mathematical mumbo jumbo needed.
In other words, take my word for it and debate me if you disagree with my tier list for this season.
Additionally, mythic boss weapons are excluded because I judge the weapon classes they belong to holistically. Although mythic weapons do more damage than legendary variants, they are restricted from being customized to preference, thus making the legendary variant of each mythic far superior.
Lastly, there are two honorable mention tiers and this is far from the typical tier list.
Chonk_Lord48's Observations:
Atrocity - Waterbending
S Tier - Thunder Burst SMG, Gatekeeper Shotgun, Ranger Pistol, Cluster Clingers
A Tier - Nemesis AR, Huntress DMR, Hand Cannon, Chain of Hades
B Tier - Warforged AR, Drum Gun, Earthbending
C Tier - Hammer Pump Shotgun, Tactical AR, Airbending, Reaper Sniper Rifle
D Tier - Thunderbolt of Zeus, Firebending
F Tier - Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Chewie's Bowcaster, Darth Vader's Lightsaber
Absurdity - Harbinger SMG, E-11
Reasoning Section
Atrocity - Waterbending is an all encompassing infinite range (it travels past render range) infinite ammo, instant reload super power that will drop any enemy of most skill ranges in exactly two shots. This two shot kill problem is especially a factor when your enemy is using an untraceable form of Zen or Aimbot. Gamers who rely on this atrocious thing to kill or get wins are either inept at the game OR fighting water with water. Thought I would NEVER hear that phrase... Yet it is LITERAL. This weapon should have started and ended with the Avatar: The Last Airbender mini event. This is the second worst decision Epic has ever made, right next to... Well, that's a banned name isn't it... that pleb pleaser from Season X. Waterbending is so broken that it just removes the enjoyment from the game entirely. Even though it is labeled as a mythic rarity item it is far more common than bandages and perhaps more common than most common rarity weapons. Horrendous, absolutely horrendous decision.
S Tier - The Thunder Burst SMG is a phenomenal skill-based weapon that requires precision accuracy to observe the sheer powerhouse of a weapon it is. It has one of the lowest Time To Kill (TTK) in the game due to It's powerful damage output, accuracy, and headshot multiplier (1.76x). It can be used for mid-range combat as well with a modest damage reduction.
The Gatekeeper Shotgun is by far the BEST shotgun ever released in Fortnite History, surpassing the Charge Shotgun class except its Mythic variant. This shotgun excels in point blank range and the TTK is less than two seconds. It has a great spread which provides the opportunity for some guaranteed hits when firing from the hip. When it is aimed down, the spread becomes more precise. Most shotguns do this, yet the Gatekeeper stands out because the choke is not pinpoint accurate (like other failures of a shotgun) and its crosshair fits so nicely around an enemy's head.
The Ranger Pistol has a fast TTK and is damn near the perfection of the Thunder Burst SMG. The two are so similar in damage output, firerate, reload time and range that honestly a player can use either and perform well. When compared to the Warforged AR, it is more accurate, has a higher headshot multiplier, and reloads much faster.
Cluster Clingers were literally the only throwable explosives that did enough damage required to kill. A lethal weapon in the hands of a skilled player. This specific item will forever hold its place as the 'only' explosive throwable item. Be honest, the rest were just gimmicks that were terrible and practically useless. This was the ONLY grenade that actually put enemies back to the lobby. Why it was removed is beyond nonsensical. Anyone who could dare complain about the first (only) grenade that did grenading is... I will say it, part of the Little Timmy community (plebs) that Epic LOVES to humor (I remember Season X well).
Each of these weapons are truly a masterpiece in their class and stand out as among the greatest weapons to ever touch the surface of the game. They do not require attachments to be good. These weapons can be deadly in the hands of players from all skill ranges. From common to legendary or mythic these weapons take the cake as this season's best.
A Tier - The Huntress DMR is the BEST DMR to date. All other DMRs pale in comparison to this one (Looking at you Cobra) because it actually hits targets when you aim and shoot directly at them. This would have been S-Tier but since it requires a specific set of attachments each game to be superior, it cannot be placed there. This weapon shoots the farthest and has little to no bullet drop whatsoever. It is superior to the once great Reaper Sniper rifle and takes the cake as the best long-range choice this season.
Note: Perhaps with the fresh new ballistics system, the Cobra DMR can make a return and actually function properly instead of being exclusive to function on PC.
The Hand Cannon is a re-imagining of one of Chapter 1's best weapons. It is superior to other slow firing, semi-automatic weapons due to its damage output and buffed headshot multiplier. This weapon is exclusive for highly accurate and skilled players which is precisely why it remains in A Tier. It is not universally great (S-Tier), yet it still rewards those with precise aim. The fun with this weapon is that it doubles as a close range defender or a sniper rifle depending on attachment preference. When modded to be a long-range weapon it should be noted that it has less bullet drop than the Reaper Sniper Rifle. The other optimization is the classic one which can be done with an optic attached or not. When used in this classic form, it outclasses the Hammer Pump Shotgun entirely. It does more headshot damage and less body shot damage, sure, but at least significant damage is guaranteed since spread is not a factor.
The Nemesis AR is a powerhouse of a weapon as well which is surprisingly accurate for its high damage output and adequate headshot multiplier. It has a fast TTK and requires little investment to be superior to other weapons in its class.
The Chain of Hades is not an an atrocity. It is very much required to counter and punish enemies who think they are tough guys fleeing from a fight using shockwaves or the wings of Icarus, or even a motorbike. It is fun to use, when it works. This item is prevented from being S-Tier due to the FACT it does not work properly. This weapon has a sweeping animation and must be paired with area of effect damage. The center of the crosshair is NOT the only area of damage. This can be tested and proven by opening a door, aiming in the middle of the doorway, and swinging. You will notice the it does indeed deal damage to the left and right of the crosshair. Sadly, and unsurprisingly, this AOE melee weapon seems to exclusively function properly on PC. When used on PC, this chain causes a stagger that prevents a weapon from firing in a minute instances. That is, each hit when swung, causes an interruption of a weapon firing. This feature is nonexistent on consoles and seems intentional. As for the chain pull, that attack causes stagger universally, which is good.
B Tier - The Warforged AR is decent at best. Even with a legendary properly modded variant, it pales in comparison to the Nemesis AR, which requires little investment to no investment. This weapon had much potential but Epic clealry refuses to allow an S-Tier assault rifle to exist again.
The Drum Gun is yet another re-imagining of one of the greatest weapons to enter the META first debuted in Chapter 1. This version, regardless of attachments, fails to be what it once was. It is about as accurate as the Warforged and also lacks recoil control even with the attachments meant to reduce it.
Earthbending was a failed opportunity for Epic to allow players to have fun with the game. I would have preferred summoning armor on my character (like Toph does in the show) paired with the ability to bull charge into an enemy which would deal an atrocious amount of damage to be equally unfair as Waterbending. Maybe 150 damage or simply an instant KO. Heck if I care you cannot shoot the armor off quick enough to cancel the attack. As for Earthbebding as it was made, the cover provided was stronger than metal, and more reliable than porta bunkers. Long before the time it would take to break the cover, the ability to form another wall is primed and ready. Hurling large, fine cut rock slabs at enemies should have caused a KO in two hits to counter that atrocity not worth my breath anymore.
C Tier - The Hammer Pump Shotgun is just a joke but can still be deadly when paired with an appropriate backup weapon. This weapon could be A-Tier at best when paired with a Thunder Burst SMG or F-Tier at worst when used alone. By that logic, it averages to the middle of the tier list. Oh I miss the days when it just took one skilled shot to send them back to the lobby with the original Pump Shotgun re-imagined in Chapter 1 Season 5. This was arguably the most balanced period in Fortnite's history especially for both SMGs and ARs.
The Tactical AR is yet another re-imagining of one of the greatest weapons. This too pales in comparison to it's predecessor. Even with all necessary attachments on it, it is not the same as before. Period. It does not do enough damage and high a slow TTK. It pales in comparison to both the Thunder Burst SMG and other assault rifles. It fails to be both SMG and AR when it is meant to be a combination of both.
The Reaper Sniper has once graced players inventories as the BEST sniper rifle in Fortnite's history. Once an S-Tier weapon, this powerful sniper rifle has fallen from that status due to Epic's tendency to humor plebeians in the community. It has caused this weapon to become absolutey useless for what it was made for. It does not make any sense at all for this weapon's bullets to have bullet drop before 20m. The projectory of the bullet is flaccid, like to an ED extent. Absolutely an ABSURD choice for long range encounters, period. However, this weapon can surpass even the Hand Cannon as a replacement for a shot gun, slap the proper attachments on play pretend that it is the KSG-12 or a slug round shotgun, then you got yourself an S-Tier shotgun that drops players in ONE shot.
Airbending is not a weapon per se, however it can be used as one to cause a death due to gravity or to prevent vehicles from traveling. It was amazing. I miss it. It was the best movement option that was ever released in the game.
D Tier - Thunderbolt of Zeus had potential to be amazing. It was pathetic compared to cluster clingers and its splash damage seems to be so random that it is unreliable. It is supposed to hit for 40, 40, then 140. Yet my final hit is hitting for 80. I do not understand. Prep time alone makes this weapon a death wish.
Firebending also lack a passive ability and Epic has failed to make this combat-based bending effective. Unless you are staying perfectly still, you will jump around like a maniac and miss all projectiles. Period. Upon release, it dealt barely any damage and Epic did not bother buffing the damage until near the event's conclusion. I should, according to the same broken logic, be able to bend lightning with extreme precision to deal 300+ damage, thus instantly knocking out anyone.
F Tier - The Frenzy Auto Shotgun was once an atrocity and at first got respectfully nerfed. Then Epic nerfed it again to be effective exclusively at less than point-blank range. Any further than 10 meters then you are surely dealing between 10-20 damage IF you are lucky.
The Bowcaster is a failure of what could have been a fun limited time weapon to use. Firstly it animates an AoE per shot regardless of charge and does NOT do splash damage when shot. When charged fully it deals decent damage but then the splash damage is negligible. I am a first hand witness to this bs weapon having splash damage be effective exclusively on PC. I was damaged from about a tile and a half away from the point of impact when at the Dumpen Haussen reboot van. I find it unnerving that some weapons have no polish on console. The Bowcaster when shot semiautomatic is not only supposed to have splash damage but it also fails to deal damage in general. This weapon suffers the Cobra DMR curse where if you aim directly at an enemy and HIT them, it does no damage or just goes right through them or it is just rubber bullets or blanks. As for the bowcaster, it is as if the laser goes directly through the enemy causing no damage whatsoever. This does not happen on PC. To my knowledge, Epic intentionally caters to this SMALL percentage of the community.
Darth Vader's lightsaber is just bad compared to the chain. The chain is in an entirely different class. The lightsaber lacks damage output and is trash at blocking waterbending. The guard is easily broken. Without a pool of lightsabers to choose from that have powers per color. The other powers would have been perfect counters to the chain of hades. Push em off or pull them down or towards. Amazing, is what it would have been.
Absurdity Tier - The E-11 is canonically accurate, how ironic. Nuff said. No wonder the Storm Troopers could never hit their shots.
The Harbinger SMG was supposed to fix Epic's failure last season, the Hyper SMG. Both are absurdities and should NEVER be picked up in any circumstance. You would fair better throwing grass at your enemies. The Harbinger SMG is outclassed in DPS by EVERY other light ammo weapon option, EVER, not just this season. It is BEYOND a failure which is why it takes its rightful place here. It is to NEVER be relied on. You will surely die faster by any other weapon in the game. Even at legendary rarity optimized for hipfire or ADS the gun is inaccurate regardless of the player using it. Both the E-11 and the Harbinger SMG are universally repulsive and fail to be a weapon (by definition) in the hands of any player.
Conclusion
These are my expert observations on what is, can be, and is not effective in the current META. Please feel free to debate these claims, if you can.
Thanks and God bless you all,

2024.05.19 02:20 John_Graham_Doe 90% Durable Reduction Is a Bit Too Extreme. How About 75%?

I get that the weak points on enemies like Chargers and Bile Spewers aren't meant to be too squishy, seeing as that would make heavy weapons like rocket obsolete.
But 90% damage reduction on non-explosive damage just feels too extreme, to the point that shooting those "weak points" is practically pointless. It may as well not be a feature. It's cute on difficulty 4 to have the full team dump 3-4 mags into the charger butt as a unit when you have a single charger every 4-5 minutes, but on higher difficulty that's just never practical.
I think something like 75% reduction to damage would still be harsh, but not make it feel like a complete waste of time to shoot at Terminid weak points with primaries.
Thoughts?

Slack confirms it is training some of its AI-powered features, but not its generative AI tool, on user content and uploads, with all users opted-in by default
  • Slack is using its users' data, including messages, data, and files, to train its machine learning features to enhance in-app functionalities like channel recommendations and search results.
  • By default, all Slack users are opted into this data usage policy, which has raised concerns among privacy advocates and the platform's users regarding the lack of direct notification and an easier opt-out process.
  • Workspace administrators, not individual users, have the capability to request their data be excluded from the machine learning model training, adding a layer of complexity for those seeking to protect their privacy.
  • Other tech platforms, like Squarespace, also subscribe to similar practices of using user data by default for AI training, indicating a wider trend in the tech industry toward leveraging user data for machine learning without explicit user consent.
  • Slack asserts that its machine learning models are designed in such a way that they do not retain, memorize, or reproduce customer data, aiming to mitigate concerns over privacy and data misuse.
Corey Quinn, from DuckBill Group, expressed shock on discovering Slack's use of user data for AI training with his outburst on social media, sparking a wider conversation about data privacy concerns linked to machine learning practices in major platforms.
"I'm sorry Slack, you're doing fucking WHAT with user DMs, messages, files, etc?" - Corey Quinn
Despite Slack's assertion on their AI page that "Your data is your data. We don't use it to train Slack AI," the company indeed uses user data to train some of its machine learning models. This contradiction highlights the complexity and potential confusion around tech companies' policies on user data and privacy.

2024.05.19 01:41 Fredrickthyme Karlheinz Stockhausen: An In-Depth Analysis

Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) is one of the most influential composers of the 20th century, known for his pioneering work in electronic music, aleatoric processes, and spatial music. His innovative approach has left a lasting impact on contemporary music and sound art. Below is an in-depth analysis of his music, focusing on harmonic texture, popular forms, and his contributions to the music industry.

Harmonic Texture

Stockhausen's approach to harmony evolved throughout his career, reflecting his explorations in various musical dimensions:
  1. Serialism: In his early works, Stockhausen embraced serialism, a technique involving the use of series of pitches, rhythms, dynamics, timbres, or other musical elements. Notable works include "Kontra-Punkte" (1952-53), which uses pointillistic textures and twelve-tone rows to create complex harmonic structures.
  2. Electronic Music: Stockhausen's electronic compositions often feature innovative harmonic textures created through the manipulation of sine waves, noise, and other sound sources. "Gesang der Jünglinge" (1955-56) combines the human voice with electronic sounds, blurring the lines between harmony and timbre.
  3. Spatial Music: His interest in the spatial distribution of sound led to works like "Gruppen" (1955-57), which uses three orchestras placed around the audience. The resulting spatial effects create unique harmonic textures that change depending on the listener's position.
  4. Intuitive Music: In pieces like "Aus den sieben Tagen" (1968), Stockhausen explored "intuitive music," where performers are given textual instructions rather than specific notes, leading to unpredictable harmonic textures.

Popular Forms

Stockhausen's works often defy traditional forms, but several key types can be identified:
  1. Electronic and Tape Music: Pioneering pieces like "Studie I" (1953) and "Studie II" (1954) are among the first examples of purely electronic music. "Kontakte" (1958-60) integrates live instrumental performance with electronic sounds, creating a form that bridges fixed media and live performance.
  2. Moment Form: Stockhausen developed the concept of "moment form," where musical sections are self-contained and can be experienced independently. "Momente" (1962-64/1969) exemplifies this approach, with sections that can be reordered or omitted without disrupting the overall structure.
  3. Operatic and Theatrical Works: His seven-opera cycle "Licht" (1977-2003) represents a monumental exploration of musical form and interdisciplinary art. Each opera is dedicated to a day of the week, combining music, stage design, and ritualistic elements.
  4. Electronic Opera: "Mittwoch aus Licht" (1995-97) includes the famous "Helicopter String Quartet," where musicians perform in helicopters, integrating live performance with aviation sounds.

Innovations in the Music Industry

Stockhausen's contributions extend beyond composition, influencing various aspects of music production and theory:
  1. Electronic Music Studios: He was instrumental in establishing the WDR Studio for Electronic Music in Cologne, one of the first facilities dedicated to electronic music production. His work here set the stage for future electronic music studios worldwide.
  2. Spatial Audio: Stockhausen's exploration of spatial music anticipated contemporary practices in surround sound and immersive audio. His ideas influenced the development of spatial audio technology used in modern performance venues and sound installations.
  3. Aleatoric Techniques: By incorporating elements of chance into his compositions, Stockhausen influenced subsequent generations of composers and performers, encouraging a more flexible and dynamic approach to music-making.
  4. Extended Techniques: His work often required musicians to employ extended techniques, expanding the vocabulary of instrumental performance. This has had a lasting impact on contemporary classical music and improvisation.
  5. Interdisciplinary Art: Through works like "Licht," Stockhausen demonstrated the potential for integrating music with other art forms, inspiring countless interdisciplinary collaborations in contemporary arts.

Conclusion

Karlheinz Stockhausen's contributions to music are vast and multifaceted. His innovations in harmonic texture, form, and the integration of new technologies have had a profound impact on the music industry and contemporary composition. From his pioneering electronic works to his expansive operatic projects, Stockhausen's legacy continues to inspire and challenge musicians and composers around the world.

2024.05.19 01:40 Arno_QS Easing into a new gamepad type (Steam Controller)?

TLDR: Looking for twin-thumbstick games that are well-suited to helping my friends see if they want to make the jump to a Steam Controller (i.e., easy inputs)
I'm hoping this one might be off-the-wall enough that it can attract answers from a bunch of different genres. :) Anyway, here's the deal: my love affair with the Steam Controller and its dual trackpads has become known in my friend group and a couple of them are interested in trying it out. I'm excited to share the experience with them but I remember how the learning curve (coming from traditional twin-thumbstick gamepads like the major consoles use) was less of a curve and more of a brick wall into which I smashed my face for a few weeks. Ideally I'd like to spare my friends as much of that as possible, so my question is:
What are some games that are:
  1. ...primarily intended to be played with a twin-thumbstick gamepad, and
  2. ...do not rely on high-speed input dexterity?
I originally said "precise input" for #2, but it occurs to me that precision by itself is fine, as long as they don't have to hit a precise target quickly. In fact, small targets (little UI buttons, etc.) may actually be a good thing from a practice standpoint.
Ideally I'm looking for games that use both thumbsticks in tandem...for example, the obvious baby step here is a visual novel but that's mostly one thumb at a time.
A few points to narrow down the potential list (these aren't hard requirements, though):
I feel like this post is already long enough to scare off 95% of Reddit, but if anybody wants further clarification on anything feel free to ask in the comments. :)

2024.05.19 01:39 Cushlawn Understanding the PMP Question structures- DRAFT (Feedback required)

I want to create a playbook on 'Understanding the PMP Question structures' for the PMP community here
Below is section one DRAFT. I think I've managed to use the PMP GPT simulator to align to its knowledge bank of questions and answers.
Feedback would be welcome before I look to develop the other sections - A) would it be helpful? b) Too much detail it may hinder or mislead ?
Othr sections would include 'decoding key phrases and terminology' eg risk indicators, issue indicators ...

1. Understanding Question Types

The PMP exam features various types of questions designed to assess your knowledge and understanding of project management principles, processes, and best practices. Recognizing and understanding these question types is crucial for approaching them effectively and maximizing your chances of success. Here are the main question types you can expect to encounter:

1.1 Action Questions

Action questions require you to identify the most appropriate action or next step to take in a given project scenario. These questions typically begin with phrases like "What should the project manager do?" or "What action should the project manager take next?" Examples include:
These questions test your ability to apply project management knowledge and best practices to determine the most appropriate course of action in a given context. They often require you to consider various factors, such as project constraints, stakeholder needs, and potential impacts on scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
Example: "During the execution phase of a construction project, a major safety incident occurred on-site, resulting in injuries to several workers. What should the project manager do first?"
a) Immediately stop all work and secure the site to prevent further incidents. b) Conduct an investigation to determine the root cause of the incident. c) Update the risk register and develop a mitigation plan. d) Consult with the project sponsor and senior management.
Explanation and Breakdown: - Type: "Do First" Question - Immediate Priority: The question specifies "first," indicating a need to prioritize the immediate actions. - Options Analysis: - Option (a) addresses immediate safety by stopping work and securing the site. - Option (b) focuses on understanding the cause, which is secondary. - Option (c) deals with documentation and planning, which is not immediate. - Option (d) involves communication with management, which comes after ensuring safety. - Correct Answer: (a) - Stopping work and securing the site prevents further incidents and ensures immediate safety, which is the highest priority in project management. Addressing safety concerns immediately is crucial to prevent further harm and to comply with safety regulations. Once the site is secure, further steps such as investigation and communication can be taken.

1.2 Assessment Questions

Assessment questions evaluate your ability to analyze and assess past actions or decisions made in a project scenario. These questions often require you to identify what should have been done differently or what action or step was missed or overlooked. Examples include:
These questions test your understanding of project management best practices and your ability to critically evaluate decisions and actions taken in a project. They may require you to recognize deviations from established processes, missed opportunities, or potential consequences of the actions described in the scenario.
Example: "During the planning phase of a software development project, the project manager failed to engage key stakeholders in defining the project scope and requirements. As a result, the project encountered significant scope creep and rework during execution. What should the project manager have done differently?"
a) Strictly enforced the defined project scope and rejected any scope changes. b) Obtained approval from the project sponsor before allowing scope changes. c) Involved key stakeholders in defining and validating the project scope and requirements. d) Consulted with the project team to prioritize the requested features within the existing scope.
Explanation and Breakdown: - Type: "Should Have Done" Question - Problem Identification: The scenario specifies the failure to engage key stakeholders, leading to scope creep and rework. - Options Analysis: - Option (a) suggests enforcement without stakeholder engagement, which is impractical and could lead to conflict. - Option (b) involves approval but does not prevent the initial issue of scope creep. - Option (c) addresses the root cause by involving stakeholders early on, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met. - Option (d) focuses on internal prioritization without addressing stakeholder input. - Correct Answer: (c) - Involving key stakeholders in defining and validating the project scope is essential for preventing scope creep and ensuring all requirements are understood and agreed upon from the start. This approach ensures that stakeholder expectations are managed and aligned with the project goals, reducing the likelihood of changes later in the project. Engaging stakeholders early also fosters a sense of ownership and collaboration, which is critical for project success.

1.3 Reactive Questions

Reactive questions test your ability to respond to project situations or challenges by identifying the most appropriate or inappropriate action or decision. These questions typically use phrases like "most likely" or "least likely" to assess your understanding of project management best practices. Examples include:
These questions evaluate your ability to make sound judgments and prioritize appropriate responses based on the given project context. They may involve assessing the likelihood and potential impacts of different actions or decisions, as well as considering factors such as project constraints, stakeholder needs, and best practices.
Example: "A project is running behind schedule. The project manager decides to fast-track the project. Which of the following is least likely to be a consequence of this decision?"
a) Increased risk of rework. b) Improved stakeholder satisfaction. c) Increased project costs. d) Potential conflicts in resource allocation.
Explanation and Breakdown: - Type: "Least Likely" Question - Context Understanding: The project manager decides to fast-track the project to recover schedule delays. - Options Analysis: - Option (a) mentions increased risk of rework, a common outcome of fast-tracking due to overlapping tasks and potential errors. - Option (b) suggests improved stakeholder satisfaction, which is less likely as fast-tracking typically introduces more risks and issues. - Option (c) refers to increased costs due to additional resources or overtime required to accelerate the schedule. - Option (d) mentions potential conflicts in resource allocation, a typical risk of compressing schedules where resources are stretched thin. - Correct Answer: (b) - Fast-tracking typically leads to increased risks, costs, and resource conflicts. Stakeholder satisfaction is least likely to improve because the additional stress and potential quality issues that arise from fast-tracking can cause dissatisfaction. This answer reflects an understanding of the negative impacts of compressing project schedules and the trade-offs involved in such decisions.

1.4 Other Question Types

In addition to the above question types, you may encounter variations or combinations of these formats, such as:
Understanding and recognizing these different question types is essential for approaching each question effectively and providing the most appropriate response.
By familiarizing yourself with these question types and practicing with relevant examples, you can enhance your ability to tackle the PMP exam confidently and successfully.
