Hey everyone,
A bit about me: I grew up in a toxic household with an alcoholic abusive single mother. She had anywhere from 15-20 stray cats in our home that she spoiled and loved more than me. She sure made that clear! My father left me and my mother when I was two years old and he never came back. I was put into the California foster care system at age 13 due to my mother being reported multiple times by my junior high school counselor. From there I went to several mental hospitals, lockdown facilities and group homes up to my 18th birthday. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder back in my adolescent years. I haven’t been evaluated as an adult but I’m sure I would be diagnosed with MDD if I were.
I have spent almost my entire adult life doing nothing with myself. I spent a lot of time early on sleeping in my car and showering at my friends houses. My grandma in Arizona helped me out a great deal and let me stay with her and find work, and I was proud of myself although I was working a menial janitorial job at a casino. I’m pretty tech savvy and skilled with automotive repair but I never pursued further education. When my grandma passed away in 2007 I got severely depressed but I managed to get a place to live with roommates and held down a full time job, again at a casino doing janitorial work. Developed a gambling addiction and an alcohol addiction. Got a DUI in 2008 and that started my legal troubles. Lost my place and lost my job.
I slept in my car and worked at casinos doing menial work again. Met a woman at one of the jobs and got married April 2010. She had a few kids with a bunch of baby daddy drama, and I couldn’t deal with it so I just walked away and the divorce was finalized by the end of the year. I stopped drinking after that. From there I kept working until 2011, when I decided to quit my job, take my old Subaru XT and hit the road. Went all over the southwest US sleeping in the car and exploring, got a few tickets for no insurance, got my license suspended for said tickets and also for not paying my payments on the DUI. I got to Albuquerque NM and my car finally croaked on me. Transmission failure. Slept in it for a week or so in a mini-mall parking lot until the cops were called on me and unsurprisingly took my car. I was officially a street person at age 26.
I spent several years hitchhiking, panhandling, dumpster diving, hopping freight trains and finding spots to sleep or camp wherever I could. I was so depressed that I didn’t take very good care of myself and had no desire whatsoever to try to better myself and dig out of the hole I got myself into. I used to call myself an urban survivalist. I remained in this state of mind until late 2022 when dental problems nearly killed me. I finally found a place to stay in Nevada with a lady I called a foster mother but I had a very hard time getting used to being housed. I got all my teeth yanked and a set of dentures thanks to Nevada Medicaid. I got a job at a car wash for six months but gave up the job due to stress at home and workplace nepotism. I even got a few credit cards and got my score up to 719! Anyhow, foster mother was an alcoholic, she started to remind me of my biological mother and I couldn’t stand it anymore. I had a few thousand dollars saved up and moved back to Arizona a couple of months ago.
I am currently at a weekly motel and have been attempting to find any work I can. Managed to get interviews for dishwasher jobs, housekeeping jobs, janitorial jobs and night crew at a grocery store. Haven’t heard back from any of them though. I have half of my savings left and it seems inevitable that I’ll run out of money pretty soon.
I have a good feeling that the ridiculously long gap of employment looks terrible on my resume and that may be a reason I’m not getting anything. I mean, what do I tell the interviewer, that I was a damn bum?
I like to think I’m pretty smart. I was disassembling and reassembling IBM PC’s before I hit puberty. I was the computer technician for my high school back in the Windows XP era. Once I started driving I began teaching myself automotive repair with Chilton and Haynes manuals along with plenty of trial and error. It blew people’s minds when I, a dirty bum, helped get their car back on the road if I noticed they needed assistance. I helped a man I met at a park and did an engine swap on his Nissan Xterra over a couple weekends in exchange for new camping gear.
I can’t get work as a mechanic or do any driving related jobs unless I get my license back and it would take a LOT of money to get it back. On top of that I have to have an ignition interlock in any vehicle I drive. I wouldn’t mind getting into computer repair but I don’t have the certification to do so, and I’ve been out of the loop for a long time. I have a MacBook Air M1 and wish I could learn a way to make money with it like some sort of remote job but that seems impossible to me at this point.
For the record, I still don’t drink and I’ve never done a hard drug in my life. I haven’t smoked weed in months so I am able to pass a drug test if I were hired somewhere. Also, I have no felonies whatsoever on my record. Some people like to be stereotypical so I figured I’d throw that out there.
I guess what I’m asking is what should I do at this point? What path would you take if you were in my shoes? I won’t lie, suicide has been on my mind a lot lately. I don’t have many friends and I don’t have any family to talk to. I don’t like being a burden on anyone. Should I just accept that I’m gonna probably be homeless again, possibly for the rest of my life? Is there anywhere in the US that I could possibly get back on my feet with some sort of labor work and a place to sleep? I’d move anywhere if I knew I had a shot. Am I a lost cause at age 38? I’d love to hear some ideas!

Hello everyone,
I'm having a fairly common issue with my mower (sat for a long time, nownit won't run). It's powered by Briggs and Stratton series 450 125cc 4-stroke.
Long story short I've gotten a mower from my Pop's, who had it sitting in the shed for 2 years (it's been cleaned, emptied of gas, lubricated with oil, all that).
I've cleaned it, put in new sparkplug, filled it with fresh gas, put some oil through the spark plug hole (so it wouldn't run dry, cranked it a couple of times so it would get covere) all that.
I've primed the carb via the manual pump ( plenty of gas under the float, float works, gas collects in the reservoir under the carb), but it doesn't get to the carb.
Engine turns, runs fine while I manually pump, dies imidiately after I stop (the usual white mist out of the muffler). A bit of oil coming out of the second air hose (this carb has two air lines).
I've tried running it with the air filter (it has the sponge type) and without. Nothing changes.
Now fpr the interesting thing. After pumping manually it runs, for 2-3 seconds till it dies. Unless I keep pumping, then it gpes on.
I needed the mower ASAP, so what I did was pour gas on the air filter, soak it,put it all together and it ran jist fine, for 2-3 minutes till the gas evaporates. I had to fill it up every 2-3 minutes, managed to do most of the plot but that ain't the way to do it so I'm looking for solutions how to fix it.
Engine works fine (as the gas in the sponge filter proves) so it has to be an issue with the carb.
I've taken it apart, cleaned everything inside (including all pf the tiny plastic pipes and such). As far as I can tell it sucks in gas from the reservoir below the carb based on the venturi effect since there is no pump. Lines are clean since the manual pump pulls gas through the same hole. Somehow, gas gets to the reservoir (float works) it gets to the carb air inlet if I pump manually, but it doesn't go through when I stop pumping.
At this point I'm put of ideas, I've cleaned everything that came to mind, everything seemingly works, with the slight issue that it doesn't sustain itself.
Every bit helps so if anyone has any ideas, please share.

When times were good, they invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into courses, masterminds (so they could get selfies with ppl like Russell Brunson and Dan Kennedy), company retreats, hiring a bunch of new employees so they could get on the INC 5000 fastest growing companies list…
And they even dropped over 100k making a documentary about their company, and the doc did NOT generate ONE SALE.
It’s like they were high off all the schmoozing and marketing assets that propped them up as “industry leaders”
The team would be scrambling trying to finish one project at bare minimum quality, and then the bosses would be like “hey we’re gonna start another podcast” and it’s like BRO let us work on actually IMPROVING the service rather than feed your narcissistic shiny object syndrome!!
And then when the economy took a dive all the shortcomings in their business came to light and clients started dropping like flies.
The bosses blamed it all on the recession, but the truth is, they were so shortsighted they thought their business was recession proof
Turns out a lot of their initial success was due to luck and confidence, not actually providing a valuable service to clients.
So the layoffs started. I survived round 1. They actually gave me a raise shortly after, and then did temporary pay reductions 2 months after my raise lol. (They basically gave me a raise and then took it away.)
I worked my ass off trying to do my part to keep the company afloat but it was a sinking ship. There were several more layoffs after that, so I wasn’t surprised when my time was up. But get this:
During the call, I asked them “Ok, what do I need to know for off boarding?”
And they had no answer. They’d laid off dozens of people at this point and didn’t have the decency to write some bullet points on a google doc to go over next steps. Fucking unprofessional losers.
They literally said, “We hadn’t really thought about it, but what would be very helpful for US is if you could send over any information you have that could help us take over your assignments”
I responded, “No. I need to put my energy into finding a job, not teaching you how to replace me”
So yeah, these two narcissistic douche bags who ran their company into the ground and kept bragging about how they landed on the INC 5000 fastest growing companies list are now facing bankruptcy, and had to layoff their entire US team, except for two or three people.
Here are some more grievances I want to rant about:
They once threw a company retreat with the sole intention of making a documentary and use us as props to hype themselves up. They hired a videographer to record us for their documentary and got everyone on the team to give testimonial interviews talking about how amazing our bosses are. It was incredibly emotionally manipulative. The video is still on YouTube and they ended up laying off all but 2 employees in that video.
they would always say “we’re like a family here” and I begged them to stop saying that bc it’s a massive red flag to new hires but of course they didn’t listen or care.
One of my bosses thought he was a sales Psychology god and charged $500 an hour for his consulting.
(he always bragged about how he was once so poor he had to sell plasma to pay the light bill. He portrayed himself as a self-made man. Well turns out his dad actually wrote him a big check so he could start his first business lol.)
This douche nozzle used to always say: “Money is like a good woman. If you don’t treat her right, she will leave you and find someone else who will.” well, guess what his girlfriend left him and now he’s facing bankruptcy lol.
About a year into my employment, I lost a lot of weight and it was noticeable on a zoom call and my other boss said I had gotten a lot “sexier.” Fucking creep
That same creep once moved into a penthouse apartment in Chicago, and gave the team a virtual tour bragging about how he had “made it” Meanwhile, nobody on that call was making enough money to afford basic expenses.
Anyways, I’m just excited to be out of that industry. The whole “grindset marketing podcast bro” phenomenon needs to fucking die once and for all

Hello fellow bmet's. I have to test insulation resistance with 500 VDC of a class 1 type B device to complete it's PM, according to its preventive maintenance guidelines (PMG). The equipment has a full metal body and no applied parts.
I have a Fluke ESA612. I understand that to carry this test the DUT must be switched on and the ESA disconnects it from the mains, to apply 500 VDC between the line/neutral and PE. The thing is that this is a life support equipment, and if it's switched on and disconnected from the mains, it will run on battery. There's no way to turn it's main switch and keep it off, it autostarts on battery.
So, wont applying 500 VDC with the device running on batteries damage something? It's a pretty complex device with lot's of electronics. Does testing insulation resistance with the device switched off make any sense? I understand I will only test the insulation resistance of the main switch.
The manual of the device is pretty vague about this electrical safety tests.

Today is 16 days out of residential. I’m a binge eater and I smoked weed yesterday and of course ate more than I needed last night and completely numbed out while doing it. I’m actually even still in PHP M-F and I’m so ashamed. It’s like the 5 weeks of amazing work I did is completely erased and I’m back to square one. I know this isn’t true and it was just one slip up but I feel miserable and have been in bed all day. I so scared I’ve started a spiral that I won’t be able to stop now. Shame and disgust are all I can think about now.

Full disclosure: I am a pretty run of the mill American center-left liberal. I absolutely love the books (I’ve read them all) and I truly don’t mind, and even enjoy reading conservative works, but I just was wondering if anyone else felt the same way about the series.
Does anyone else notice the very strong conservative themes in Sun Eater? I am mostly talking about ‘small c’ conservatism and not our current political issues of the day. It is very striking/different IMO, and it isn’t something I have really seen discussed a lot.
‘Human’ progress (or attempts at it) are almost exclusively portrayed in a highly negative light. Anyone attempting to improve the human condition through technology also happens to be a genocidal maniac with no regard for human life. Any genetic manipulation that doesn’t conform to strict traditional human sensibilities is portrayed as deviant/abhorrent (including gender fluidity).
An extremely conservative and feudalistic empire is explicitly conveyed as the ‘best of all alternatives’ form of human government. All other attempts at democracy or a classless society are pure evil. Even the Demarchists which are the closest thing to a non-evil democracy, greatly restrict individual freedom and try to jail/murder Valka for seemingly no reason. The Lothrians are an extremely horrific instance of communism (which we do at least have examples of in our world). Calen Herodentes is promising true progress and equality for all and it turns out to be all a big lie that he uses for selfish gain.
The future histories of our current democracies also end up tragically. America (which on the scale I am discussing is liberal not conservative) leads to extreme technological progress, populism, and the eventual enslavement of all mankind by the technology it creates. Humanity is only saved by literally reverting back to our old European feudal lords!
And then finally getting to the Pale, there comes pretty much the central theme of the entire book. Some groups of “other” are so fundamentally different that any attempts to make a peaceful connection with them are doomed. Some groups are fundamentally different and irreconcilable with our way of life. In the context of the book this is obviously true, but this is an extremely conservative (and in my opinion bad) philosophy, that is dedicatedly not applicable to anything that has ever happened in human history!

A counterpoint to all of this is the semi-gender equality that exists in the Empire (weirdly enough it almost seems like after the first book the author regrets this and much more traditional gender norms exist from that point onward). There is also the fact that the Chantry is portrayed pretty negatively. That being said, even Hadrian comes to agree that the Chantry is justified b/c of how horrible the alternative is. Also the few Christians that appear are regarded in a very positive light. And oh yeah, Hadrian is pretty straightforwardly Jesus (double Jesus in fact).
I am loving the books and part of it is just how very different it is to most modern books (most don’t dare to be this conservative) but I just wanted to discuss!

I’d like to get a whole house generator, but not really interested in shelling out $10 to $15 K. I’m thinking about trying to go a much cheaper route by buying a portable natural gas generator and having manual transfer switch installed that would power one of my two central air units, along with the mater bedroom, living room and kitchen (excluding the electric oven) and one garage refrigerator.
It wouldn’t be automatic and wouldn’t be much help for brief outages, but it would help out in the case of a prolonged outage due to a hurricane (we’re located on the Texas Gulf Coast).
Cost for a 12,500 watt generator looks to be around $1,500 and maybe $300 for transfer switch. No idea on cost to install the switch. But, the whole package would certainly be a lot cheaper than a whole house system.
I already have a higher capacity gas meter (425 CFH) installed for my 400,000 btu pool heater, and have a 1-1/4” tee available where I could hook up the generator. Just need to install a valve and the appropriate connector for the natural gas supply hose.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions on this plan?

I'm playing on the island, and I heard somewhere that they replace carno spawns sometimes, so I've looked around for carno's, I've looked basically everywhere in the map, and have only found carno's. Do I just have bad luck, or do I need to do some sort of manual Update?

Thought I'd share my rules for Universe Mode in case anyone needs some inspiration
The Draft:

• Start by Choosing your brand and Rival Brand. Then choose your Roster Pool and begin a draft. 15 wrestlers per Brand. (I like to keep my roster small, increase this if you want.)
• Wrestlers with a rating of 89 or more are considered ‘Top Stars’ and you can only draw 4 in a draft, and 10 lower ranking stars. You can either do this draft randomly, or manually. I like to select my own wrestlers for my brand and random for my Rival.
• A Few legends are placed in their own pool called 'Part-Timers' (Because I use some legends in the normal draft) Randomly select one to join your roster.
• New Draft every year after WrestleMania. Add the Roster of Free Agents, the lowest 3 superstars on each show, 1 Part-Timer and 1 of the top 3 wrestlers on the power ranking on each brand. Champions are immune.
• Part-Timers are temporary (duh), only one per show, and will only stay for 3 PLEs Only, unless they become a champion or injured. Add one from the pool at random for Royal Rumble.

Rules:

• After each PLE, draw a random event from this site: https://perchance.org/universemoderandomevents
• During a Final Rival match, if the loser has a red damage icon, I also use the site above to roll for the injury to see how long they might be out of action for.
• The WWE Champion appears on both Brands and takes turns having a rivalry with someone from each show.
• Survivor Series is all about Brand vs Brand Matches. The Brand with the most victories will win a Part-timer.
• Using a Super Finisher will always result in the opponent getting an injury.

Other Info:

• I Keep track of Wins, losses and injuries on a spreadsheet. I Also use this to keep track of how long I have a part-timer for. Really useful to see the stats when its time for a draft.
• I write down notes on rivalries and storylines so i can pick right back up after not playing for a while. For example, i drew a random event for Batista, that gave him the story he intends to retire if he can’t capture gold soon. Now I can look at his stats and let him try to climb the rankings before the next PLE or risk losing him on my roster.
• If you ever have less than 15 Wrestlers on your Roster (Injury or Part-timers leaving for example) then randomly draw someone new from the free agents pool.

Hi everyone! I need some help with my game. I've been playing Starfield on Xbox Series X. I'm at level 56, with roughly 200 hours on my first playthrough. The issue I'm facing is that every time I try to go to The Den or the Stroud-Eklund Staryard, I get spawned around 8,500 km away from them. I've researched this problem and found out that I'm not the only one experiencing it. However, the solutions I've come across online haven't been effective. Reloading saves from before the problem began or performing a hard restart hasn't resolved the issue. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or should I await a patch? Am I out of luck? Thanks for your help!

shows up as a 60hz display with my 3090 gaming PC.
i have the EDID set to 4K 120hz.
i'm using all brand new HDMI 2.1 48gbps cables.
xbox series x and other devices push 120hz to the Epson no problem.
the PC pushes 120hz to any display except the Epson, which it sees as a 60hz display.
If anyone can help i'm literally losing my mind.
Things i've already tried:
-full fresh re-install of Windows 10 -full fresh re-install of Windows 11 -forcing to 120hz or anything above 60hz in nvidia control panel or display settings (doesn't work, loses picture). -using DDU to uninstall and reinstall all Nvidia drivers -manually updating the firmware of the Epson LS11000 to the latest january update -all drivers for everything are up to date -tried 5 different hdmi 2.1, all work perfectly with everything except this one specific use case -tried getting an HD Fury VRROOM which confirms it's reading the display as a 4K 120hz display, PC hooked up through this same device sees it as 60hz -updating PC drivers for LS11000 (there aren't any, only that one January firmware update which i already installed)

hello! so, I had a sudden onset of my health issues this January, so I am still learning how to deal with everything.
My family has a trip planned to Spain in July. We are going to be in Barcelona for 6 days and then on a cruise for about a week (to Portugal and Morocco). I have been very lucky and have traveled a lot in my life, but this will be the first time traveling since my health issues started. I've been super excited, but I am very worried about how my symptoms will impact traveling.
The symptoms I expect to interfere the most are muscle pain, stiffness, and weakness in addition to occasional joint pain (if I walk a lot or am more active). I also don't have a diagnosis of anything yet except for myalgia, however, I likely have Hashimoto's (if not something else as well, since it doesn't seem to account for all of my symptoms).
My main issue is that I know that Europe is very walk-heavy and obviously being on a cruise also consists of a lot of walking. I can usually walk short distances (maybe 5-10 minutes) without too much of an issue, depending on the day. However, even if it is multiple short distances throughout a day, it adds up and then my pain gets a lot worse. If I am active over multiple days, it is more difficult to walk in the following days. I don't need it every day, but I use a cane often and there are some days I can barely walk at all.
My mom was thinking about renting a mobility scooter however she said they're about $50 a day and would end up costing the same as just buying one new. I don't think I would be able to use a manual wheelchair myself since my muscle weakness occurs all over my body, including my arms/shoulders/etc. My family probably would be willing to push a wheelchair for me if necessary, but would probably add difficulty. I am planning on bringing my cane, but sometimes when my muscle weakness is bad, my cane can actually make it worse because my arm gets tired using it.
I am also worried about the flights. I think we will be on a ~5 hour flight, a layover, and then a ~7 hour flight (and opposite on the way back). My body already gets very stiff if I sit still for over an hour. There's a fine line between not moving enough and moving too much, and I still don't know where that line is.
One other thing is that I use weed+CBD for pain management, but obviously I can't bring that with me internationally, so I am worried I am going to be in a lot of severe pain with no way to manage it.
I am also trying to prepare for the mental/emotional part of potentially not being able to participate in some of the activities. For example, if I'm having a really bad pain day on one of the port days, I may not be able to leave the boat if I have to walk around a lot so I might not be able to see some of the things we have planned.
Does anyone have any tips/suggestions on what kind of mobility device might be able to help me participate in traveling and where I could get it? And any general tips about traveling with chronic illness/disability would also be helpful.
