Car leasign tax efficiency

Please give me your opinion.

2024.05.19 07:03 supersparta66 Please give me your opinion.

I have been through a personal finance class but after separating from my ex, hotel living for a time, making poor choices too, and having several automobile issues I racked up roughly 18k in cc debt.
Currently making ~$3200/month (sometimes $3500 with OT) Rent $1625 (looking to decrease this to $1525 by dropping my gated parking) Internet $75 Car payment $198 (~$9000 left owed, through my Job) Debt federal hardship loan through Symple Lending $399 (thing I am most curious if anyone has experience on. I had such a low tolerance for more stress, I made the choice to go through them instead of handling it myself. Still happy with that. Already was 3 months behind on payments had no cash to catch up and minimum payments for both were more than this) Electric bill ~$120 Groceries are hard to budget, I have celiac disease and have been kinda barely eating (with two autoimmune disorders I’m losing weight, hoping to get more money into groceries) Gas ~$250 Daycare ~$200 Prescriptions ~$80
Bare minimum roughly ~$220 leeway for food? but has not been that way. Sons mother, ex, tore meniscus and had surgery so had been supporting what was needed for solely for kid. Most of my food is for kiddo.
Obviously trying to increase income, promotion waiting but no guaranteed timeline. Have had a few job interviews for same pay jobs but closer to kiddo and home for less gas money. Also looking for a part time evening second job the 3 nights I am free had tax refund help + some money from my parents to help buffer over last 2-3 months.
Advice? Thoughts?

2024.05.19 06:56 mitchiii First time in LA, overnight parking in Hollywood?

Hey LA locals,
Spending 11 days in LA in a few weeks time and struggling to figure out where to park a rental car overnight.
I'm staying at the Kimpton Everly in Hollywood on Argyle Ave, which charge $60/night + tax... what? I'm not paying nearly a thousand USD just to park a car.
Anybody know better options? I'm from Australia where its free parking everywhere, so this is incredibly confusing and frustrating.
Any help would be much appreciated.

As a reviewer who has had the opportunity to use this 10 ft. x 20 ft. White Party Wedding Tent Canopy with 4 Sidewalls and 2 Doors, I can confidently say that it's been an exceptional choice for our events. The ease of assembly is one of the key features that stood out for me. With its smart workmanship and high-class cloth top and iron tubes, setting it up took no time at all.
Another brilliant feature that I absolutely loved is its large space. It comfortably accommodated many people and stuffs, making it perfect for big gatherings like weddings or parties. The outstanding waterproof performance also makes it suitable for outdoor usage, which is a bonus.
One minor issue I encountered was a slight instability during windy days. However, the spiral interface between the tubes in its design has made the overall frame more stable, providing a secure environment even during unpredictable weather conditions.
All in all, this tent is a great addition to any event, whether it be a wedding, camping, parking, or a simple party. It's the assembled tent that comes with necessary accessories, making it convenient to carry around on a daily basis.
In summary, this 10 ft. x 20 ft. White Party Wedding Tent Canopy is a versatile, space-efficient, and easy-to-assemble option that doesn't compromise on elegance.

🔗10 ft. x 20 ft. Heavy-Duty Canopy Event Tent Outdoor White Gazebo Party Wedding Tent with 4 Removable Sidewalls

Oh, you know when you're planning that big BBQ party in your backyard and you want your guests to feel as comfortable as possible? Or maybe you need a waterproof shelter for those unexpected rain showers during a camping trip? Well, I just had the chance to try out this 10 ft. x 20 ft. white gazebo party tent, and let me tell you, it's perfect for both!
The first thing that caught my eye was its high-grade PE cloth top and iron tubes. The smart workmanship and reasonable design make it not only incredibly stylish but also incredibly easy to put together. You know how some tents can be a real hassle to assemble? Not this one! It only took me a few minutes, and I was good to go! It's like having your own little pop-up fortress.
One thing I definitely appreciated was the spacious room it provides. I had plenty of space to add a few tables and chairs for my guests, and it didn't feel cramped at all. And speaking of guests, the tent's high-grade materials make sure that everyone stays comfortable, no matter what the weather's like outside. It's like your own personal oasis, except instead of palm trees, you've got a sleek, white tent!
Of course, no product is perfect, and this one is no exception. One small issue I encountered was that the tent can be a bit challenging to take down on your own, especially if you're in a hurry. I also found that the sidewalls can be a bit difficult to remove and reattach, so make sure you give yourself ample time when disassembling the tent.
Overall, I would highly recommend this 10 ft. x 20 ft. white gazebo party tent, especially for anyone who's looking for a stylish, high-quality outdoor shelter that's easy to assemble and provides plenty of room for guests. Just make sure you've got a buddy to help you with the take-down process!

I recently purchased a Costway 10'x20' Canopy Tent for a backyard party, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The tent was easy to set up with the help of my family and friends, and it provided ample shade from the summer sun. The highlight of this tent is its rust-resistant steel frame and durable waterproof polyethylene fabric, which make it perfect for withstanding various weather conditions.
One of the standout features for me was the ease of installation. We were able to have it up and ready within a short period, ensuring that our guests were protected from the elements. The canopy also provided a nice wind block, which came in handy during occasional gusts.
In terms of aesthetics, the canopy tent is quite appealing, with a sleek design that adds a touch of elegance to any event. The quality of the sewing is meticulous, contributing to the overall durability of the tent. Additionally, the tent comes with a carrying bag, making it easy to transport and store when not in use.
However, there are some cons to consider. Some users reported issues with the durability of the tent, with signs of wear and tear after a few uses. There were also concerns about the product's weather resistance, as it may not withstand stronger gusts of wind or heavy rainfall.
In conclusion, the Costway 10'x20' Canopy Tent is a great choice for those looking for a sturdy and stylish shelter for their outdoor events. While some users have reported durability concerns, overall, the tent has received positive reviews from many satisfied customers. I would definitely recommend it for commercial or recreational use, such as parties, weddings, flea markets, and backyard events.

🔗10x20 Pop-Up Event Tent with Removable Mesh Sidewalls

https://preview.redd.it/98kx8twwdb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da42dffedc4224e222006bc73dddbc411538c5de
In my recent outdoor event, I had the pleasure of using the Outsunny Canopy Tent Gazebo. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to set up. The rust-resistant steel frame held its own against some gusty wind, providing a safe and spacious shelter for my guests.
One of the standout features was the 4 removable mesh walls. They allowed for an open-air feel while also offering protection from bugs and wind. The water-resistant roof provided great coverage and helped reflect UV rays, keeping everyone cool and safe from the sun.
However, this tent isn't perfect. It can be a pain to take down, especially on windy days when the mesh walls flap around. Additionally, it's not very weather-resistant in heavy rain or strong winds. I learned this the hard way when a sudden downpour brought the party to an abrupt end as the tent collapsed.
Overall, the Outsunny Canopy Tent Gazebo is great for casual events or gatherings. Its ease of setup and breathable mesh walls make it a comfortable choice. However, its lack of durability and poor weather resistance might be a deal-breaker for those planning more intense outdoor events or using it in unpredictable weather conditions.
I hope my experience gives you a better understanding of this product. If you have any questions or need more information, please don't hesitate to ask.

As a reviewer who has been using the Winado 10 ft x 20 ft White Party Wedding Tent Canopy with 4 Sidewall and 2 Doors for several events, I can definitely say it's been a game-changer. The high-grade cloth top and iron tubes provide a robust structure that has withstood countless storms and windy days, ensuring my guests remain comfortable and dry.
One of the standout features is its ease of assembly. Even with limited experience, I could quickly set up this tent. The spiral interface between the tubes adds additional stability to the overall frame. Plus, the large space it provides is perfect for accommodating many people and their belongings.
However, there were some cons to consider. The lack of waterproof rating could be an issue in heavy rainfall. And while it's suitable for various occasions, the weight of the tent can be a bit cumbersome for solo setups.
In conclusion, the Winado Tent Canopy has been a reliable addition to my event planning toolkit. It boasts a sturdy structure, spacious interior, and easy assembly. Despite the cons, I'd recommend it for anyone in need of a reliable tent for their next gathering.

I had the opportunity to use this beautiful 10 ft. x 30 ft. White Party Wedding Tent Canopy for my cousin's wedding, and it was an absolute game-changer! Its elegant design and spacious interior provided the perfect setting for our guests to dance the night away. The ease of setup and breakdown was a major plus, allowing us to focus on the more important aspects of the event.
One thing that really stood out was the sturdiness of the structure, with its high-grade PE cloth top and iron tubes. Even on a slightly breezy day, it held up surprisingly well. However, I must say that it's not the best choice for super windy or rainy conditions, so make sure to secure it properly.
The sidewall and two doors were also an excellent touch, providing that extra layer of privacy and protection from the elements. Plus, the fact that it can accommodate up to 300 square feet of space means you won't have to worry about cramming everyone inside!
In summary, this Wedding Tent Canopy was a fantastic addition to our event, transforming a simple backyard into a magical, elegant space. While it may not be ideal for windy or rainy situations, its overall quality and spacious design make it a great choice for those looking to elevate their next outdoor gathering.

I recently purchased the Winado 10 ft. x 30 ft. White Party Wedding Tent Canopy with 5 Sidewalls for an outdoor event.
The tent was surprisingly easy to set up following the instructions, and it looked elegant draped in white. I was also impressed by how spacious the interior was, providing ample space for guests.
However, on a slightly windy day, the stability of the tent became a concern as the structure wasn't as sturdy as I'd hoped. Despite this, the tent did offer protection from light rain. Overall, while the Winado Wedding Tent Canopy is beautiful and functional for various occasions, it may not be the best choice for events held in windy conditions.

🔗Outdoor White Metal Party Tent with Zippered Windows

https://preview.redd.it/cbiq1peydb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a51e9f073ceb73738099048cfd989182c03c3ac
As an avid party planner, I must say that the Outdoor Metal White Party Tent with Windows - 13 x 26 has been a game-changer for my events. It's a multi-functional shelter that provides both shade and protection from the elements, making it perfect for commercial and recreational use. From weddings and graduations to picnics and backyard parties, this tent truly is a versatile choice.
One of the standout features of this tent is its high-quality, heavy-duty white powder-coated steel structure. It's rust and corrosion-resistant and delivers strong support with its 1.5-inch steel tube diameter and 1.66-inch metal connector diameter. Additionally, the thick base offers immense stability and durability for outdoor activities.
The 100% waterproof top uses a 140g PE cloth that keeps guests dry in case of rain. Meanwhile, the removable sidewalls with zippers allow for great cross-ventilation on hot summer days. These sidewalls also block 99% of harmful UV rays, making them perfect for sunny afternoons. The 160-gram PVC windows provide more brightness and a modern look to the tent.
Storing and reusing this tent is hassle-free, thanks to the extra durable 3 x 600D Oxford fabric storage bags included. For added stability on different surfaces, both ground nails and expansion screws are provided. However, it's essential to take preventative measures when wind speeds reach 25 mph or higher.
A few safety reminders include never leaving the tent up overnight or in bad weather conditions. Also, note that the polyethylene fabric is non-fireproof, so always keep it away from sources of fire. To ensure the best experience, safety measures and professional installation are highly recommended.
While the Outdoor Metal White Party Tent with Windows - 13 x 26 has been a wonderful addition to my event planning toolkit, it does have a few drawbacks. The initial setup can be time-consuming, and the weight of the components may make it difficult for one person to handle alone. Additionally, the requirement for additional support structures in windy conditions adds to the complexity of using the tent.
Overall, this tent offers great value and functionality for a variety of outdoor events. Its weather resistance, durability, and versatility make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to enhance their event experience.

🔗15' x 15' Canopy Tent Blockout Sidewall Kit

Imagine the disappointment of having your perfectly planned backyard event ruined by sudden rain or unpredictable wind. Our 15' x 15' Premium Blockout Sidewall Kit is here to save the day, designed to help you weather the unexpected and keep your guests comfortable in any situation.
Constructed from 16oz premium blockout PVC vinyl, these sidewalls boast impressive UV resistance and 100% waterproofing. They come in your choice of cathedral or window sidewalls, allowing you to control not only the elements but also the level of privacy and visibility you desire.
One unique feature of our sidewalls is the strapping for staking and securing to the ground, ensuring they stay in place regardless of the weather conditions outside. However, it's important to note that these sidewalls are not recommended for staking during heavy winds, as this could potentially damage your event equipment.
In summary, our 15' x 15' Premium Blockout Sidewall Kit is a reliable and versatile solution for creating a comfortable and private space at your next outdoor event. While they offer excellent protection from the sun and rain, it's crucial to take extra care during heavy winds to ensure their longevity and effectiveness.

🔗10'x10' Canopy Wedding Party Tent Gazebo with 4 Side Walls

https://preview.redd.it/p4l0h0azdb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10464a780775e35a1f7cb1bccd3bdb199ac7e634
I recently used the Segawe 10'x10' Canopy Party Tent for a backyard wedding, and it was quite an experience. The first thing that caught my eye was the elegant design with four side walls, giving our event a private and elegant touch. However, the build quality wasn't as sturdy as I expected. The metal poles didn't feel very strong, which was a bit concerning.
To my relief, the canopy itself is made of high-quality 90G/M2 PE material, providing excellent shelter from the sun and rain. The 4 side walls came in handy for added privacy during our intimate gathering, but they didn't offer much in terms of stability. It would have been even better if the structure had some kind of locking mechanism to make it sturdier.
Despite its flaws, this gazebo pavilion did its job for our one-off event. And considering the affordable price, it might be worth considering if you're in need of a temporary shelter with side walls for your next gathering. Just keep in mind that you might need to reinforce the structure yourself to ensure it doesn't collapse in strong winds.

Once upon a time, I decided to throw a beach-themed party in my backyard. I wanted to create the perfect atmosphere for my guests, so I opted for a Canopy Tent with Sides to provide shade and protection from the elements. As I began setting it up, I was struck by how easy it was to assemble - no tools required! The structure felt sturdy and reliable, which instantly put my concerns about wind or rain at bay.
One feature that stood out was the adjustable height. It allowed me to accommodate taller guests comfortably while still providing ample space beneath the canopy. The white color of the tent not only matched my nautical theme perfectly but also helped reflect sunlight, keeping the area cooler on a hot summer day.
However, there were some cons that need addressing. Firstly, the lack of a storage bag meant I had to find extra storage space for all the parts when the party was over. Additionally, despite the waterproof top cover, there wasn't enough ventilation, making it quite stuffy inside during the peak afternoon sun.
In conclusion, while the Canopy Tent with Sides proved to be an excellent addition to my outdoor event, some improvements could enhance its appeal further. I'd recommend adding a storage bag and improving airflow for those sweltering summer days.

I recently used the Outsunny Pop Up Canopy Tent for a family gathering in our garden, and it certainly proved to be a lifesaver. The sturdy construction and large size provided ample shade and shelter during the hot summer day, while the sidewalls and doors ensured that we were well protected from any wind gusts. The assembly process was quite smooth, taking just a few minutes with the help of a friend, and the included wheels made it easy to maneuver and set up in different locations.
One standout feature of this tent is its durability. After weeks of use, it still looks brand new, and I'm confident that it'll continue to provide reliable protection from the elements for many more gatherings to come. However, one issue that I encountered with the tent is that it can be a bit heavy when it's time to pack up and move it to another location. Overall, the Outsunny Pop Up Canopy Tent has been an excellent addition to our outdoor entertaining repertoire, offering both style and substance for a wide range of occasions.

As a frequent party planner, I recently stumbled upon this 10x30' Party Canopy Tent and it has been a game-changer. The heavy-duty steel frame is not only sturdy but also lightweight, ensuring longevity and easy transport. The high-quality polyethylene roof and sidewalls are tear-resistant, waterproof, and offer UV protection. I appreciate the additional ropes and stakes provided for added stability during those windy days.
The large interior space can comfortably accommodate around 50 people, making it perfect for various occasions like weddings, birthday parties, or family gatherings. The eight removable sidewalls with windows provide ample shade and privacy. It's also incredibly versatile - great for picnics, barbecues, or even as a temporary shelter for your car.
While the assembly instructions are quite straightforward and can be completed in about 15 minutes, it does require some patience and steady hands to ensure the frame is steady before placing the cover. Overall, this Party Canopy Tent has definitely become a staple in my event planning toolkit.

2024.05.19 06:52 Proof_Count_771 first car for a recent graduate with 170k in student loans but high income

i'm in around 170k debt from student loans, but i'm fortunate to take home ~250k a year (165k base salary, 20kish bonus, and rest equity in privately held tech company). this equates to about 10k take home post-tax, giving me 8.9k after maxing 401k.
in bay area. i currently pay 2.2k for rent, 2.8k for student loan repayment (trying to pay off in next 6 years or so), and food is about 750 a month, leaving me at around 3.25k a month.
i have literally never driven before (currently taking driving lessons lmfao), and don't want a "luxury" car, especially given that i'm accident prone and it's most likely not a great financial decision at this point.
my budget is somewhere between 15k-60k. i'd like a compact suv (think crosstrek, outback, macan, rav4, crv, etc.). i'm only looking for used cars from 2020 onwards.
are there any particular model/year combos i should look for? i just know from spending time in other hobbies that there is generally a "sweet spot" zone, where paying this amount will get you a lot, but anything above gets you diminishing returns. is there any of these "sweet spot" cars i should look for in my budget range?
thanks in advance :)

2024.05.19 06:44 Ok_Accountant1541 Proposition: A Pioneering Move for Faraday Future - A Call to Attempt Privatization

To the Visionary Investors of Faraday Future:
Today, I propose an unprecedented step for Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. (FFIE) and its community of investors: to consider attempting something historically significant by transitioning from a public company to a private entity. This ambitious endeavor isn’t just about changing our business structure; it’s about pioneering a new path in the electric vehicle industry and potentially setting a new benchmark for how companies and shareholders can interact in an increasingly volatile market.
The Vision:
We stand at the threshold of possibly creating a model for controlled, shareholder-driven privatization, aiming to stabilize our operations and enable focused, long-term growth away from the public eye and the inherent instabilities of the stock market.
The Proposal:
1. Collective Shareholder Initiative: Every shareholder’s vote counts in this monumental decision, regardless of the number of shares held. We can attempt to make history together through a collective affirmation of this path. 2. Strategic Advantages: • Steady Growth: As a private company, FFIE would be free to pursue ambitious goals over the long term without the short-term pressures of public market performance metrics. • Operational Stability: Eliminating the public trading of our shares can insulate us from market volatility, allowing for a more stable financial and operational environment. • Investment Opportunities: Going private can open doors to significant private investments, which are often more patient and aligned with our strategic goals than public investments. 3. Historical Impact: • Innovating Corporate Practices: Our successful transition could inspire other companies, showing a viable method for achieving stability and growth through privatization supported by a united shareholder base. • Empowering Investors: This initiative could stand as a testament to the power of shareholder democracy, proving that investors can decisively influence the future direction of a company. 4. Long-Term Vision:
This proposal is about constructing a legacy of innovation and sustainable growth. We aim to establish FFIE as a leader in the electric vehicle industry, adopting a business model that sets us apart and could be emulated by others.
Your Participation:
This historic move requires your active participation. We need a majority to agree to this transformative step, ideally achieving a supermajority to demonstrate overwhelming support for this initiative.
Upvote if you want to attempt to redefine what is possible for FFIE and its stakeholders. Together, we can break new ground, setting a precedent not only for this company but for the industry and corporate governance as a whole. Let’s seize this moment to shape a future where FFIE leads the way in innovation and stability in the electric vehicle sector.
Consider this call to action as more than a vote—it is an opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking chapter in corporate and industry history in my opinion.
The possibility of taking Faraday Future (FFIE) private through collective shareholder action is rooted in several practical considerations and precedents in corporate finance and governance:
1. Shareholder Unity and Influence: The fundamental requirement for such a transition is the unity and agreement among shareholders. If a significant majority of FFIE’s shareholders, particularly those holding a large portion of the public float, agree to the proposal, their combined voting power can initiate the process of going private. This unity can effectively influence the company’s strategic direction. 2. Financial Feasibility: The financial aspect involves assessing whether there is sufficient capital either among the shareholder base or through external financing to buy out the public shares. Private equity firms, venture capitalists, or even a consortium of investors could provide the necessary funding, attracted by the potential long-term growth and profitability of the company away from the public markets. 3. Legal and Regulatory Framework: The legal process of going private is well-established. It typically involves a tender offer, where shareholders are offered a specific price to sell their shares, followed by a shareholder vote. The transaction must comply with securities laws and regulations, including fair disclosure and fair price provisions, to protect shareholders’ interests. 4. Strategic Advantages: Privatization can shield the company from the volatility of public markets, allowing management to focus on long-term goals without the pressure of quarterly earnings reports. This can be particularly beneficial for companies like FFIE, which are in the capital-intensive early stages of growth in the technology and automotive industries. 5. Precedents: There are numerous precedents of public companies going private successfully, demonstrating that with the right conditions—such as a clear strategic rationale, shareholder support, and adequate financing—such transitions can be achieved. These examples provide a roadmap and can instill confidence in shareholders considering such a move. 6. Long-Term Value Creation: Going private might allow FFIE to undertake restructuring or strategic shifts that are difficult under the scrutiny of public markets. This can lead to enhanced value creation that benefits all stakeholders, especially if the company can later re-emerge as a public entity at a higher valuation.
The combination of these factors makes it feasible for FFIE shareholders to consider and potentially succeed in taking the company private, provided there is a clear understanding of the benefits, the risks are well-managed, and there is robust support from a majority of the shareholders.
Taking Faraday Future (FFIE) private could offer several monetary advantages for the company and its shareholders. These financial benefits stem from the different operational and strategic flexibilities that private companies enjoy compared to public ones. Here are some of the key monetary advantages:
1. Cost Savings on Compliance and Reporting: Public companies are subject to rigorous financial reporting requirements and regulatory compliance that can be both costly and time-consuming. Going private eliminates the need for frequent public disclosures and compliance with complex securities regulations, which can save the company significant amounts of money in auditing fees, legal costs, and administrative expenses. 2. Avoidance of Short-Term Market Pressures: Public companies often face pressure from shareholders and analysts to meet quarterly earnings estimates, which can lead to short-term decision-making at the expense of long-term value. By going private, FFIE can focus on long-term strategic investments without the distraction of short-term market expectations. This can lead to better allocation of resources towards projects that enhance sustainable growth and profitability. 3. Improved Capital Allocation: Without the pressures of public market expectations, private companies can redirect funds that would have been used for dividends or stock buybacks into more productive uses like research and development, expanding operational capacities, or pursuing strategic acquisitions. This more flexible capital allocation can lead to higher returns on investment. 4. Potential for Higher Returns Upon Re-Listing or Sale: If FFIE can use the period of private ownership to streamline operations, enhance profitability, or innovate in its product offerings, it could potentially re-list on a stock exchange at a higher valuation or be sold to a larger entity at a premium. This scenario could yield significant financial gains for the stakeholders who maintained their investment during the private phase. 5. Exclusive Financial Backing: As a private entity, FFIE might attract private equity investors or venture capitalists who can provide not only funds but also strategic guidance and industry connections. These relationships can be crucial in navigating market challenges and seizing new business opportunities, potentially leading to greater financial stability and growth. 6. Tax Advantages: Structuring deals and finances as a private company can sometimes offer more favorable tax considerations, depending on the nature of the investments and business operations. Private companies often have greater leeway in utilizing tax-efficient structures that might not be feasible under the scrutiny of public markets.
These monetary advantages highlight why going private might be an attractive option for FFIE, especially if the leadership believes that the company can achieve more in a less restrictive financial and operational environment.
If Faraday Future (FFIE) goes private, investors can realize returns through several mechanisms, tailored to the longer-term and potentially less liquid nature of private investments compared to public equity. Here’s how returns can be generated in such a scenario:
1. Dividend Payments: While private companies are not known for regular dividend distributions, depending on the company’s profitability and cash flow situation, it might decide to distribute dividends to its shareholders. This would be a direct way for investors to realize returns on their investments. 2. Increased Equity Value: The primary goal of taking a company private is often to restructure it away from public market pressures, streamline operations, enhance profitability, and drive growth in a less scrutinized environment. These improvements can significantly increase the company’s equity value. Investors can realize these gains when the company is eventually sold or goes public again through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), often at a higher valuation than when it went private. 3. Sale or Merger: If the private company performs well, it might become an attractive acquisition target for larger companies in the same industry or private equity firms looking to expand their portfolio. A sale or merger can provide substantial returns to the shareholders of the private company, depending on the terms of the deal. 4. Special Distributions: In some cases, if the private company generates significant cash flow and doesn’t require extensive reinvestment, it might make special distributions to its shareholders. These can be similar to dividends but occur on a less regular basis and can vary significantly in amount. 5. Secondary Sales: Even in private markets, shares can sometimes be sold to other private investors or through secondary market platforms. While less liquid than public markets, these sales can provide an exit strategy for investors looking to realize gains before the company goes public again or is sold. 6. Management Buyouts (MBOs): In some scenarios, the management of the company or a group of investors might decide to buy out the existing shareholders at a premium to the original investment, especially if they believe the company has substantial unrealized value. 7. Private Equity and Venture Capital Exits: If private equity or venture capital investors are involved, they typically have well-defined exit strategies that could include selling their stake back to the company, selling to another private investor, or pushing the company to re-enter public markets.
For investors in FFIE, going private could thus represent a shift towards longer-term, strategic investments that might yield higher returns, albeit with different risks and liquidity profiles compared to public stock investments. The key for investors would be to closely monitor the company’s performance and management’s ability to execute on strategic initiatives post-privatization.
The potential financial gain from taking a company private and then re-listing it on the public market within 1-2 years can be substantial, depending on several key factors. If successful operational improvements and strategic investments are made during the private phase, and the market conditions at the time of the initial public offering (IPO) are favorable, the company could see a significant increase in valuation.
For example, if a company is taken private at a valuation of $500 million and during the private period, strategic and operational enhancements lead to improved financial performance, the company could potentially be re-listed with a valuation of $1 billion or more. This would represent a doubling of the initial valuation, offering a substantial return to the investors involved in the privatization and subsequent public offering.
The exact gain would depend on the degree of improvement in the company’s fundamentals, the economic and market conditions at the time of the IPO, and investor sentiment towards the industry and the company specifically. Such a strategy requires precise execution and favorable market dynamics to achieve these levels of return. That’s not the only option though.
Everybody better blow this tf up. 😤💎

2024.05.19 06:42 Think_Age_8316 2013 Honda Civic LX Sedan @ 123k miles & 9k$

So I'm in kind of a tough spot right now, really can't do with a car and really need to find that car soon. I found this Civic from a private seller and from blue book, it looks like 9k is gonna be right in the middle for that specific car, which would be 8900. I'm not buying a car I haven't gotten inspected and he's getting that done for me, so the total cost works out (aside from taxes, which I expect to be about 600$. The car looks like great condition aside from some light wear on buttons, a couple very small marks on the hood, and some minor dry rot on the plastic around the passenger windows. Assuming I get clean results from the auto shop, I'm basically sold on this car, but I wanna get a couple other opinions before it's a completely done deal. So - good deal, or should I try to buy myself some time to find a better one?

2024.05.19 06:41 albert1165 Only 5% of Vietnamese people know the truth about Vinfast ...

due to Vuong Pham's complete control of the Vietnamese media. He censored all the bad news so what appear to the clueless general Vietnamese public is a shinny VF3 and other Vinfast cars as if they are normal cars from a normal car company. Not.
Here are the list of things Vuong Pham censored in Vietnam i.e. no official media is reporting these newsworthy facts and truth:
1/ Vinfast is not a normal car company: it is a company teetering on the verge of bankruptcy with an astronomical debt, $9.3B total and $5.8 short term, huge yearly loss of $2.4B, and only miminal real sale (about $450M in 2023) where 80% of total sale are stuffing to GSM.
2/ Vinfast cars are not normal. They are very buggy with 15 cases of VF8 with broken front wheels. With the low number of cars on the road, the rate is very high, highest among all car brands.
3/ Numerous battery dead problems.
4/ The news of the Pleasanton crash killing 4 people in a burning VF8.
5/ The real world's range of VF3 is only about 120-140km, where the fake range 210 is the unrealistic NEDC standard.
6/ The news of Vinfast did not pay rent to Stanford Mall for a year.
7/ The news of the two ongoing lawsuits: class action lawsuit and the steel lawsuit.
8/ Vuong Pham sold cars in Vietnam at a much higher price than in oversea market, despite only 3% special tax and no import tax for full cars (only minor tax for parts), effectively milking Vietnamese to subsidize oversea customers.
Vuong Pham is all out attack with a media blizt on the VF3 right now and is pumping stock VFS / VIC / VHM full force, hoping that the Vietnamese public is still under his spell due to complete media control that no bad truth can reach the public. North Korean style. The tiny VF3 brouhaha is his last attempt, the swan song of Vuong Pham. News about new plant in Indonesia, expansion to Malaysia, the Phillipines etc... will continue to churn out to keep the media from being dried, but of course, with no substance because Vuong Pham does not have the money and the cars are not competitive anywhere else.
Well, many of these Vietnamese people are just clueless, not their fault but due to Vuong Pham's censorship, and the number of people who buy a Vinfast car will be much less if they know the truth, that Vinfast is a technically bankrupt company selling a buggy car.
Poor Vietnamese living in a communist country with propaganda and censorship.
Well, in this sub, we know the truth, a tiny population of only about 3900 people vs 100M Vietnamese + 400M American out there.
Good to know the truth.
Mean while, time will do their force when it is due: Vinfast will crumble under the weight of ever increasing debts and loss.
Just a matter of time.

2024.05.19 06:37 Illustrious-Ocelot80 Should COE for EVs be longer than 10yrs?

LTA says that one of the reason for a 10yrs COE is older ICE cars are more pollutive as the engine parts degrade and become less efficient. With that logic, it doesn't apply to EVs.
Thus when in the future, no new ICE cars can be sold in SG, should COE be longer than 10yrs from a true sustainability practice? Why scrap and lose the huge embodied carbon in building an EV if LTA wants to decarbonise our transport system.
Will be interesting to see what LTA does in the future.

2024.05.19 06:32 Impressive_Tea_9085 What would you do? Buy or no?

My partner and I (late 20’s) currently live in townhome we own and purchased before covid. We were able to refinance during low interest rates and have a 3% interest rate, however we do have a high HOA. We currently pay $1300 in mortgage and $350 HOA per month.
We have gained about $150k in equity for townhome but our HOA has been known to randomly raise costs significantly in a short amount of time.
We live in an area where land is sparse and the population is growing significantly. There is very little land left in our county and costs are continuing to rise.
My question is, should we sell and purchase a larger home? We eventually want to start a family and live near our current location but there is not a lot of options and worried of being “house poor”. However, our current home is very small.
My partner and I make 120k before taxes and have $0 debt aside from our current mortgage. We put 15% into 401k and both cars are paid off. We spend $400 in insurance, phones, and subscriptions per month.
Should we stay where we currently are and risk the HOA increasing? Or should we purchase a new home and avoid the possibility of prices increasing?
A single family home starts at about $550k now in our county and has good schools so we wouldn’t need to move if we have kids. The costs in 2020 and before for the same home were around $300k but have only gone up. Thank for the advice in advance.

Got a quote today! 2024 GHL Hybrid XLE
Here’s the breakdown of the price from the dealer:
• Base MSRP: $46,620 • Port Installed Packages & Accessories: $1,760 • Delivery Processing & Handling: $1,395
Total: $49,775
I plan to sell my current car, a 2017 Hyundai Tucson, to a different dealer as the trade-in value offered was quite low.
Do you think this price is fair given the current market, or should I aim for a lower figure? If so, what would be a reasonable amount to negotiate down to? Any tips or strategies for negotiating with the dealer would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

When I went into the actual Hertz website, I was quoted for $700 for the exact same selection. Going to a different state to pick up and dropping it off at that same state after 5 days.
When I went into the capital one travel portal, it quoted me over $3500 for the exact same 5 day trip? Why is the travel portal so much more?

2024.05.19 05:01 techfl12 14700 65w TDP Build for CS grad

Posting for my daughter who recently graduated from university and she wants to build her first pc. Up until now she's been using mobile tablet/laptop device with 3060 GPU. She's not a big gamer but does enjoy Minecraft and mods and wants to move to a desktop. Her specific mods work best with Nvidia GPU so that is a core requirement.
Beyond gaming on this build she will be doing some coding/compiling, maybe some 3D modeling/rendering stuff, etc. Her preferences are quiet (doesn't need to be "Silent" but aiming for not noisy, and prefer not to hear fans ramping up/down all the time). I'd prefer it not to be a power hog, efficiency is a preference of mine nothing extreme but leaning on quiet vs noisy and willing to spend a little extra to that end. Water cooling is something I do NOT want to mess with at this time. We will probably pair the build with 2x 27" QHD 144Hz monitors but they do not need to be spec'd out here.
Budget is ~$16xx all core elements (CPU, MB, RAM, Storage, GPU, Case, PSU, etc). We don't need to budget the peripherals, OS License, nor monitors. I prefer no-rebates in the budget. Budget is flexible within reason. We live in USA but nowhere near a Microcenter (maybe one coming later this year but not an option otherwise).
I am agnostic on AMD vs Intel, I personally run AMD but she's been using Intel for a few years so my first pass I've gone that route. 14700 Build
---Why I made some choices---
CPU: Picked Intel 14700 since it's 65W TDP and 20cores for $399. I figure it'll be fine for all above and should run a little more efficiently than the 14700K but perhaps that's simply a bios option in the K series to make it run at 65W TDP instead of 125W (I need to research)?
Motherboard: Picked MSI because I've had good luck lately with them. I'm open to other options but definitely want latest chipset for DDR5 and 4 memory slots for expansion later if desired. Don't need tons of fancy stuff, don't need many PCIe slots. Having more than one NVME is desired. Wifi is preferred but we'll run 1Gb ethernet to her room for this project.
GPU: Went with 4070 for extra RAM and approx price point. Otherwise could be swayed to go +/- depending on folks input here. Again, AMD series GPU's are not an option for this build.
Case: I picked one with RGB / Glass Panel and an optional Optical Disc drive spot. She wants to fool around with some old games we have on CDROM and while I can connect a USB Drive I figure having the option for an internal one will make her happy. I like a case that's easy to work in/on, doesn't feel flimsy, and cools efficiently. Otherwise I'm flexible here.
Storage: Definitely an NVME Drive, 2TB preferred. I prefer one with DRAM/onboard cache. Prefer reputable brand and reliability, but recognize that changes so open to options here. Might add a second NVME down the road. I've had good luck with samsung and AData but recognize both have had some models with issues in the past.
PSU: Prefer 80+ Gold and Quality here. Name brands/reliability preferred over saving a few bucks. Don't imagine we'll be upgrading to an 80 or 90 series GPU so don't think we'll need more power now. I like the modular ones.
--- Thanks for any feedback!!! ---

2024.05.19 04:56 WishWitch How do I (23NB) stay away from my partner's (23M) family without forcing him to cut them off?

TLDR; My partners family hates me and treat him horribly and I just want to keep myself away from them. I want to stay as far away from them as possible, but don't want to force my partner to as well, or leave him with all the backlash. How do I do it?
First I want to give a little background on the situation. Me (23NB) and my partner (23M) have been together since middle school. We just started dating and never stopped, and it's been great as far as just the two of us go-- we've graduated college, moved in together, plan on getting married when we can afford it, etc. I am extremely different from his family. They are very traditional; catholic, everyone has lots of kids, no one has moved more than an hour away without being shamed, everyone is married by late 20's, women stay home to care for the kids, etc. They're also very rich, with a huge house, paid foare paying for all their kids to go to college, that kind of thing. I'm not religious, child free, planning on moving to a different region when I can, raised by a single mother and low contact with my dad, difunctional/not close extended family for the most part, nonbinary, autistic. We were always surviving but frugal, got things like free school lunches, first cars were beaters or from family friends, that kind of thing. Most of my partners introduction to things like not affording vacations, normal sized houses, how to grocery shop efficiently/with a budget etc. were through me since he just hadn't experienced those things before.
For a long time those facts weren't really a problem, often glossed over or not mentioned. I now realize it's because his mother (And my extent his whole family) figured we'd break up during/after college and he would find someone more to their tastes (Outright said to my partner when I wasn't present). I always had the feeling she didn't like me, but it was always brushed off as my misinterpretation since she was so nice to my face. Again, I now realize this is just what she does, she is nice to my face and then complains to my partner after the fact. That is the majority of my problem. As mentioned before, I'm autistic, and I need direct communication to understand if they want something. My partner and I communicate amazingly, and we've both been on the look out for things I do that might be considered rude, but we never spot any, yet she always has some small thing I've said or done to complain over. In addition, I came out to his parents after much anxiety and deliberation. His mom talked through the whole thing, I didn't get to mention most of the talking points I wanted, she said I should "get therapy" and did everything but say directly that I'm a trans man who's confused and when I come out for real my partner will break up with me (As in she heavily implied with things like "Well, if this happened..."). They've proceeded to not tell any of the rest of the family (Which I feel nervous to do myself considering their reaction), have never used my proper pronouns, criticize the more androgenous parts of me such as my clothes and hair, and have generally just ignored that fact about me.
The straw that really broke the camels back is this last family vacation. I've only been to three of their vacations, but they go on at least three a year with the family (Mom, Dad, my partner, his three siblings, grandma, and sometimes the sisters boyfriends), and no less than five a year with less than that (So just the parents, parents and one kid, etc.) depending on who's available. These have always been rather hellish for my partner. He's one of the middle children and draws the short straw on everything. I saw it a little the first two times I came along, but really saw it this time. Ignoring his suggestions while listening to his siblings, ignoring problems that only effect him/us and telling him/us to deal with it (Ex. only our shower didn't work on this latest vacation, that problem was ignored while similarly annoying problems for others had to be fixed immediately), "If you want to do that, you can pay for it" comments while paying for literally everything else the other siblings wanted, being told he should be more grateful and positive when he simply removed himself from situations to avoid being upset. There was not a single event or day that went by without his whole family turning on him for every little thing. And, from as nonbiased a perspective as I can give, he never actually did anything to deserve the treatment. He just wanted to occasionally do his own thing, make suggestions, or remove himself.
That's where I need advice. After one last incident right as we got home of one of his siblings crying to my partner about how I'd been so rude and done so many "microagressions" (I'm using their words, the examples given were when I joked about a situation and when I asked them to open something for me I couldn't get), I never want to be around his family for extended periods again. They can't tell me to my face they don't like me, our lifestyles are apparently not compatible, I never know what I do wrong until after the fact, etc. But just because I don't ever want to see them again, doesn't give me the right to tell my partner he can't ever see them again, I feel. He absolutely wants to distance himself from them, but his mom's overbearing and insistent nature makes it extremely hard which I am understanding of, and holds out hope they'll chill out with time. Breaking up, telling him to just suck it up and block their numbers, or giving ultimatums are not things I'm willing to consider. The last thing I want to do is build resentment or let his family tear apart this very functioning, very loving relationship.

2024.05.19 04:53 shoshana20 I am 25 (26 on Tuesday!), make $80,000 in New York City, and spent $1955.99 in my first six months of cat ownership

We haven’t had a lot of reddit money diaries lately and I was curious about how much I spent on her in the first 6 months, so I did this to tally up! I’ve done MD before so I’m just going to do a very quick summary here: I have a masters degree, in workforce last 2 years, I was making $100,000 til a layoff in late April. I have roughly $12k in retirement, $16k in checking, and $27k in savings. No debt. I adopted Cordelia 11/11/2023 and the bulk of expenses, though not all of them, are split with my sisteroommate. If not otherwise noted, assume the total was split 50/50 between us. In the interest of tracking full costs, I will only be noting the totals.
Upfront Costs/Adoption Story
I came in knowing I wanted an adult cat and that special needs wasn’t a dealbreaker, and it was truly love at first sight when I met Cordelia (nee Socks). She was 6 years old and recently re-surrendered to the shelter after her owner, an elderly Eastern European woman, moved back to her home country. She had a rough backstory, grew up in a hoarder home and was found and brought to the shelter when the home caught fire and firefighters found literally over a hundred cats in cages. In addition to being less appealing to potential adopters because of age, she was suffering from dandruff mostly due to being overweight and was/is on a prescription diet for proteinuria. Nevertheless, she is a gentle, loving, total couch potato of a cat who adores being brushed and touched by humans.
The shelter is pay what you wish, and I made a $100 donation to the shelter (not split). Additionally, I had no cat supplies, so before I brought her home I went to my local pet store. I had a $100 gift card that I won in a raffle to benefit a pitbull rescue, but still paid $44.99 out of pocket for a haul that included a litter box, 20 lb bag of litter, a cat condo (that she never even touched, naturally), Litter Genie, and a bag of Litter Genie refills. I did not need to pay for a carrier at this point because the shelter provided one.
Category Total: $144.99
Pet Insurance
$25/month, through Healthy Paws, not much to say.
Category Total: $150
Toys and Accessories
Other than the cat condo previously noted, I spent $51 at PetSmart (not split) on a harness and some random toys. As usual, she does not like any of these toys and only wants to play with my dirty socks. This purchase also included a slicker brush because she loves the brushie. For $2 at TJ Maxx I got her a scratch pad that she loved and scratched to death and I replaced for another $2 later on. At one point she scratched my doorframe so I got a scratching post with a built-in brush at the base and also got more Litter Genie bags for a $50 pet store visit. In January I returned to the pet store yet again and bought a water fountain for $30, which was another dud. Last month I bought her a set of raised food/water bowls for $20 and pleased to say they actually increased her water intake! I also bought a Furminator for $20 as the season change has made her quite scrunkly. Finally, I’ve spent $110 on alternative carriers because the one from the shelter is pretty awkward and heavy. I got a backpack carrier for vet visits and today I ordered a rolling carrier to try and bring her on public transit to my parents’ house.
This total does not include things my parents bought for their grandkitty, such as a cat bed that looks like a present box, or random small toys that I paid for in cash. This stuff is also not split because it was all me being silly and extra.
Category Total: $258
Food
This is also sort of a recurring cost, but as I mentioned, she is on prescription urinary food. Though maybe not for much longer because she had a bladder test Friday! Every 48 days, I pay $122 for two 24 packs of her wet food. She eats a can a day and also gets a tiny bit of prescription dry food so she doesn’t spend all night bugging me. The shelter did send me home with what they had of her prescription. The total spent on her food thus far is slightly higher than the recurring cost because I had to replace the dry food once.
Category Total: $545
Vet Visits
As part of her pet insurance coverage, I needed to bring her in for a comprehensive physical exam within 30 days of adoption. I brought her to a local vet and paid $217 for a physical exam. The vet found that she had ear mites, presumably from the shelter environment, so this total includes an ear cleaning and preventative mite treatment. This also includes a fecal analysis. Two weeks later, we decided to get Cordelia microchipped, which was $295 including the actual procedure and the registration fee with Pettrac.
This past Friday, Cordelia had another vet visit. This was primarily because she’s due for a rabies vaccine in May, but we also opted to do her annual physical so both those appointments would be on the same schedule and she won’t need to go in every 6 months for routine stuff. The total here was $346, of which $125 was the urinalysis. In addition to the urinalysis, physical, and rabies shot, I also got her a gabapentin prescription to hopefully avoid peeing/pooping/vomiting on car rides.
Category Total: $858
Grand Total: $1955.99
Reflections
Sorry not sorry for being a crazy cat lady. I have some photos in my post history of Cordelia, she truly lights up my life and my/my sister’s apartment. There’s a new coziness and warmth that wasn’t there before she came home. As I type this MD, she’s next to me on my bed making biscuits. Also, she's down nearly 1.5 lbs since I brought her home! She still has a bit to go to get to a healthy weight but she's noticeably improved at grooming herself.

2024.05.19 04:49 Time-Turnip-2961 Should I get a 2020 Corolla or keep searching for older car?

My old civic was totaled in an accident and I’ve been searching for another car for 2-3 weeks. The market is still really rough out there. At first I was looking for 2013 and under, but low amount of decent ones local that aren’t overpriced.
I really enjoyed my 2023 Corolla rental so I decided to check out Corollas. Test drove a 2020 LE near me at a dealership with one owner, regular maintenance, good condition. The windshield looks like a fishbowl/distorted to me and the rear window is small but otherwise it’s a good car. It’s $19,000 fixed price. My original budget was more like $14,000, but I do have enough cash to pay for it (am paying cash). It will cut down my emergency fund by $8,700 including doc fees, taxes, etc.
Should I get it or keep on searching for an older car? The car search has been really stressing me out honestly, and my insurance on my old car is being renewed in June, I don’t want to have a lapse in insurance, so I’ll have to keep paying for it until I find another car. However, my insurance will probably be higher if I get a newer car (it will already change because of the accident).
