Some crazy bs went down between my mom and birth father when I was about 1, he had a bench warrant for grand theft auto or something like that. Mom wasn't thrilled about it and called off the marriage, they were 21, he had nowhere to go so he went back to his home country in South America. Mom then filed for paternal rights, and since he was on another continent, he didn't get the paperwork, and basically in the courts eyes abandoned me. He came back several months later to find me, and by that time both mine and my moms names had been changed and the family was hiding us from him.
By the time I was 4, my mom and dad became married, last name changed again because he had adopted me. I had a great childhood, they ended up having 4 kids together, and they stayed together until I was about 13. He worked his ass off to support us all. All all throughout my life I was happy and just didn't really have any urge to hunt down my father because I had everything I could want, I didn't feel like I was missing a father figure or anything like that.
Around age 24, I was a year in with my now wife, I got a message on IG from a guy claiming to be my father, come to find out it was, and we started talking and getting to know eachother. This was also the early stage on my dad slowly ish talking to me less amd less, started a little before I met my wife. No idea why, all I can think of is his new wife openly admitted to me and my 4 siblings that she "doesn't like kids"..... yeah, I don't get it either.
Anywho, my wife and I have been in almost daily constant contact with my birth father for the last 8-9 years, my dad has basically said nothing to us, maybe 2 or 3 merry Christmas', I got 2 happy birthdays, and 1 last minute invite to Christmas at his place. He's met our, currently 4 years old, twins 2 times, first time at a funeral when they were 1, and the 2nd time a couple months ago at my brother's wedding, which was also the first time he met our 1 year old.
So late last year, our roommate that was helping us pay for our home, ended up moving out, not paying for the month of rent, I was the only one making money and just could not afford the house anymore. We both hate it here in Florida, we're not happy here, we don't have help, even being surrounded by a lot of family members, we decided, let's make a major leap, chase our dreams of living in the mountains, live more rural, live simply, and go and finally meet my birth father, hell yeah dude! Well our friends love the Idea, some of our family has begun to show their true colors.
Back in March, my wife made a cute post about our cool ass, totally not ugly, baby boy turning 1, my dad replied to my birth fathers wife's comment (her comments have always been nothing but joyous, celebration of whatever is going on, truly a woman that just loves life) in Spanish so she could read it "su marido nunca pago por su hijo" which translates to "her husband never pays for his son". This has rubbed me the wrong way since. And he hasn't answered anything about it. Today, he replied to my wife's post asking for help from our group of friends to find a place I can store a special vehicle of mine that we don't want to sell or lose. His reply "birth father will pay for it, just like he paid child support.. not." ......... well guess what, my blood is boiling.
Dad adopted me, and from my understanding, you don't get child support when the kid is adopted. My dad was adopted, and recently found his birth family and has started a relationship with them as well as visited them. My younger brother heart reacted the comment, my wife made replied kindly asking "why the hostility? I don't understand" then the same brother laugh reacted her comment. Now I want to scorch the earth. I haven't said anything to either of them. I'm about to create a group chat with my siblings and and my dad telling them to get whatever they have against my family off their chest, because I am fed up with being talked about behind my back. I'm the only sibling with a different father. I've had nothing but great things to say about my family life, my parents, my siblings, and it seems like they've all turned on me for things like, not being social because I stopped drinking, became a homebody happy family man, and not chasing them down, learning their schedules, and having them come over to be apart of their niece and nephews lives, which we told everyone on multiple occasions "just come over, someone is almost always home".
Our twins were born during covid lockdowns, like 2 weeks in, before that my family was over the moon, hyping up how much time they're gonna spend with our kids, and all the typical things, reality ended up being beyond the opposite. 1 brother has come over twice, 1 sister came over once, the other brother that reacted to comments, he hasn't come over at all, not even asked, Noone has so much as checked on our family, showed any interest past wanting us to drive babies 2 hours for Thanksgiving and Christmas, then getting salty that we couldn't go for medical reasons for a few years.
I guess I need some guidance of how to handle this, we've since deleted my dad's most recent comment, my wife, the absolute Saint that she is, sent a couple voice recordings to reach out and see why he's saying these things. I'm in the boat of block them, it's been 4 years, and to me they've made it crystal clear to me that they aren't in the least bit interested in being apart of our lives, or our kids lives.
Am I the asshole? How should I proceed.
We are going to live with my father for at least 3 months, if we like it, we will come back briefly to finalize some things and become dual citizens. We are going, and soon.

Sonos has been more competitive in the Bluetooth game ever sense the roam. Obviously we all know the roam is a pretty crap portable speaker... but I got one for the line in and to just try it out.
Well it turns out while it's advertised as a BT speaker. You are actually required to have a wifi network with internet to actually use the device once you take it out of the box. Completely not advertised anywhere and has burned me twice in the past year when I'm at work for months on end and someone accidentally resets my speaker (the pairing is not intuitive). It then turns into a paper weight, like I'm not kidding. I use it to hold papers down so they don't blow away.
So will the sonos ace headphones work right out of the box? Will I be able to pair immediately? Every other device in that price range that's Bluetooth works without internet or an app.
If anyone knows what the process is gonna be let me know. I've been looking online and can't find anything.

This might have nothing to do with Addisons but maybe it does so I‘m posting anyway. The past couple of months I have had on and off nights were I wake up from a hot flash in the early morning hours. I have noticed that they sometimes go hand in hand with a tight feeling in my chest and the need to inhale deeply and steady my breathing. I remember having had episodes of this before my diagnosis. My doctor back then told me that it could be a vicious circle of me noticing my breathing and then changing my breathing pattern because I am hoping to get rid of the feeling; but instead it just makes it worse because you kind of hyperventilate. It feels a lot like anxiety, but during I‘m totally relaxed and don’t have any anxious thoughts.
Last night I had this and couldn’t fall back asleep because I kept having a sense of shortness of breath and wasn’t able to consciously relax my breathing. Eventually I did fall back asleep but only for an hour. This was all before taking my morning dose. Physically and mentally, I feel completely fine. Now it’s 2.5 hrs from taking my morning dose and I still have a slight tightness in my chest and a bit of a higher heart rate. What could this be? Should I try breathing into a paper bag?

After finally getting accepted into Law School, and even though I technically passed all.my classes for the semester.
Renewing my lease for next year and coming home to work in a law firm for the summer. I received an Email Friday telling me that I have flunked below the standards of the Law School. So effective immediately I have been dismissed from the school with no chance to review or appeal.
The policy that effects me is that I must not fall below a 2.0 gpa average and I fell to 1.986 due to the grading curve that the school has set for itself.
Now I have to tell my father that I have failed and face this fire. I just need to get this off my chest to someone else before I do.
I will take any questions and advice on how to tell them.
The only answer I can have is that I was a single letter grade not even a large difference from passing. And this class I would have passed with at least a D+ would have kept me above water. If I did slight better on a paper.
I only received 8/10 credit hours since technically 2 classes I had this year were clinical classes. So I just got Participation which does not affect my GPA.
The first semester I gotten all high Cs in with a D in two class this past spring. With a high C in the last.
Again this is not a post about poor me. But I rant on need advice to explain to my father the situation.

For starting I wanna say that my english is not good so sorry if I make some mistakes.
Everything started ins sptember 2023 wnhen I comeback to school and there was this girl, lets call her Sarah, that I met in the past year and I already liked her and, this year, I wanted to talk more to her and try to go out with her. Sarah had a friend, I'm gonna call him Joe.Joe and Sarah were friends for like 3/4 years, just friends I thought. They swore to me they had nothing.
I started to talk more to Sarah and consequently to Joe. We started to go out several and we had so much fun together... Althought I was there for Sarah, I really started to like being with Joe and I can say he became my bestfriend during this time (sometimes there was another friend of them, a girl, that was there to but she is kinda irrelevant for this story. Please don't tell me to date her. The things were going great, I was talking to Sarah almost everyday, in school and at home, and I thought she was starting to like me and I understood that I really loved her like I've never loved someone before. Until january of 2024. From here the things started to get very strange between us. They stopped call me to go out with them (I didnt know if they were going without me or not or maybe with that other friend I talked about early) and they didn't call me to stay with them at school anymore. So the tinghs between us were very strange and I didn't know why. I started to think I made something wrong but I've never had the courage to ask what was going on, I thought so much about that but couldn't ask them.
I started to notice that they were becoming each time more closer and I started to think that they could have something but I was afraid I was just being jealous. Once they told there was another friend of them that liked her to and he had jealous of their relationship but Sarah and Joe exlained them they had notting. So maybe I was just being jealous to, I thought. So I blamed myself for what was going on all the time
Until yesterday when Joe told that he has been dating Sarah for 5 months now and he told me that despite he had told me he didn't like her, he liked her since the day he met her. I had never told him that I liked her but that they I told him. He said that there was notting he could do and I understand his position, in his place I would have done the same thing so I cant blame him. I just wished they had told me sooner.
I was in a group of three people and two of them are dating now so I have nobody to talk to. I will respect their relationship but I still love her and that wont change so I don't know if can be with them anymore. The idea of them dating makes me sick. I've been suspecting about that for a long time but I couldn't believe, I didn't want to believe. In the moment he told me they were dating I stopped breading. In my country are 9 am right now and i've been trying to sleep since I came home yesterday at 11 pm and I can't, every I put my head on my pillow, the idea of them kissing comes to my head and that disgust me. There are 2 questions in this year's advanced where the answer given is incorrect or unfair and I have raised a query for them and I request all of you to do the same. I will be providing detailed reasoning for both the questions and you can copy paste the reasoning in your query's too.
The first question is in Paper 1 - Chemistry - Q11 :

They have given the answer as 3 probably by considering effective atomic number for central metal atom in the complexes rather than the actual electrons in the total complex which is the iupac definition for "isoelectronic". Answer should either be changed to 1 or they should add 1 and keep 3 as the answer. The logic and challenge image I have submitted are as follows :
Comment - The answer of the above question is given 3 but that is not the number of species isoelectronic with Ni(CO)₄ and rather, the central metal atom has the same effective atomic number as that of Ni (Fe in Fe(CO)₅, Co in [Co(CO)₃]³⁻ and Cr in [Cr(CO)₄]⁴⁻). Isoelectronic would mean total number of electrons same as Ni(CO)₄ in the whole molecule (official iupac definition attached in image) and that is only true in the case of [Cr(CO)₄]⁴⁻ so the answer should be 1 (or there should be 2 answers, 1 for the correct iupac definition and 3 for the people who wrongly considered it to be the effective atomic number of the central metal atom in the complex).

They have given a huge range for this answer (135-151) but that does not change the fact that we were not given prior notice as to round off the answers to nearest integers if we had gotten a decimal value, neither in the sections instructions and nor in the question. This has also never before happened in "non negative integer" section in Advanced and it is unfair for the students who have attempted the question, spent time approximating the answer to 2-3 decimal places and not attempted it because they did not get an integral answer. The logic and image for challenge (solution for the given question) image I have submitted are as follows :
This questions answer has been given a range of 135-151. But this is a non negative integer answer and the instructions for the section or the particular question never said we had to approximate the answer to an integer if we get a decimal answer. The exact answer for this comes out to be 45ln(936/103)/ln(2) (solution has been attached in the image for challenge) and only the value for ln(2) has been provided as 0.693 and ln(936/103) has not been given a value, but approximately taking it to be ln(9) we get the answer to be 143.304 which is not an integral value. Since so many students got an answer with non calculable natural logarithms and even after approximation got a non integral value, they left the question to check again if they got time. But to give an answer and not give this question as bonus is thoroughly incorrect considering there has never been a question with a non integral value being approximated to the nearest integer in this section in advanced papers before. The range is quite big but it does not consider the fact that many exam givers have actually spent a lot of time in calculating all these values till 3 decimal values to get an exact answer and not attempted it because they did not get an integral answer. We all kindly request you to drop this question and give bonus marks to all students.

I am currently doing a hard-core binge on conky clocks. For the past two days I have been finding and discarding clocks written between 2009-2013 that don't seem to want to function even after having the conky conversion lua script applied to them. I have found far more non-working clocks than good ones.
I have gathered working copies of:

Mizar
Conky08
Infinity
MIUI Grey/Orange
MIUI Multi Neon
I have been able to repair some of these that had visible boarder outlines by launching them from different clock conf files, and I downloaded what I thought was an entire clock but was only a outer clock face ring with a glow effect. I kept it, brought it into GIMP made matching glowing hands for it, and added it to my collection as "Blue-Neon".
Deviant art especially has featured some beautiful but obsolete clocks.
Has anyone got any cool older clocks you have restored to working condition that you could share the files of? Anyone have anything current you don't see on the list? I am sure I would like to experiment with any clocks I can get my hands on!

anyone got past year question papers of company law or smth? (sem 2)

So this is a situation I never imagined. My wife and I received a call from our daughter in law "D" late in the evening, asking to talk to us and stating that she did not feel safe. My stepson "R" was not at the house with her. We got there as quickly as we could. I stayed outside in case R came home, assuming it had to do with him.
D told my wife that R has been having multiple affairs using Tinder, and that one of the girls has been taunting her about it through Instagram. R became physically abusive, shoving her when confronted, but admitted to the affairs and stating that he would beat her up if she kept complaining about It. He has made these threats in front of our granddaughter, and she is scared of him. R has been coming home drunk from the casino at night when not sleeping at hotels with other women and continues the verbal abuse.
D has a 2.5 year old daughter and is currently 8 months pregnant with another. She is from South america and barely speaks any english. R has refused to teach her to drive, isolating her in the house. She has no access to any of R's money. He told her he is leaving and expects her to go back to her home country and will not pay child support. He intends to default on the house and said he doesn't care what she does after that.
As of today, he packed his bags to move in with another woman he met at work. He refuses to tell D where he will be living.
We are basically trying to figure out the best way to help her. We intend to move her and our grandchildren in with us. The main steps we intend to take are:

1. File for emergency custody
2. File for restraining order
3. Divorce paperwork requesting child support and spousal support.
4. Sign her up for financial aid (WIC, food stamps, TANF, section 8 housing) whatever she can qualify for.

After that, we can focus on learning English, getting a drivers license and so on. My main question for anyone who knows the legal process in Virginia would be if there is a certain order in which we should do these things. Also, if anyone can think of anything else or a better way to do these.
We do know his work address so we can have papers served there. Also, D is not a citizen, but she is a permanent resident. I'm not sure how much that will change things.

I’m from Lebanon. I move to America when I was 19. Moved to New York. It’s very different from home but I got used to it now. It’s super expensive for a really small apartment. The good news is they have a lot of halal and middle eastern cuisine here. I still try to wear my culture clothing but get fallen into wearing the casual things here like t shirt and jeans. Not allow usually but hard to stay away from.
I try to be more discipline especially when Eid and fasting start. I have a few tattoos which is also not allow but I keep that hidden easy since it is on my arm. My goal for the remaining of 2024 is to donate all my clothing besides my traditional one to help me be more discipline but maybe keep 1-3 outfits. I have to decide.
I been to Brazil a total of 12 times now. I enjoy Brazil. The private beach and private sauna there is really good. I go there often because with my job, I earn paid for trip there. I work at the airport and do customer service.
I think my English is pretty decent but it’s my second language, I speak Arabic. Does anyone have a printer they want to use right now to print random picture of me to decorate their room? It is my excuse so I can ask to see it because I want to see how it will turn out on printing paper vs Polaroid before I choose to buy one of them.

I lost all my collections after the new software update. Amazon CS is a joke No one speaks English so frustrating. I can't download anything I reset my kindle numerous times to no avail

Hello, to preface this post, I am not very familiar with Reddit and am using a throwaway account as to keep this anonymous. I will likely try posting this in other subreddits to try and hear thoughts from a wider range of users. I apologize in advance if this post doesn't match exactly to how people normally use this forum.
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about some experiences I had during my life from my childhood until now (I am 20). I never really questioned most of this stuff and just assumed that the things I would experience were common and ones that everyone else around me could relate to. It wasn't until more recently when most friends I spoke to about any of this stuff thought this was somewhat abnormal or they couldn't exactly understand what I was trying to describe. So, under this paragraph, I am going to outline some mental phenomena I used to (or still do) experience. If anyone can relate to or have some better understanding for what these things are, I would really appreciate a response.
I regularly experienced vivid night terrors as a young child, some that I still remember well to this day. I would sometimes wake up screaming in my sleep or roll off my bed. I would often sleep walk throughout my home in the night, and would also have nights where I would experience a half-asleep half-awake state of consciousness in which I would pace around in circles in my bedroom or living room while imagining that my dreams were connected to real life. As an example: The night after watching the movie Gravity in theaters (I was 9 years old), I sleep walked into the living room. I then woke into this trance-like state where I paced around in circles with anxiety for what felt like hours and hours as I was convinced that I was being sent to space and that I would die. Just to note- I also experienced sleep paralysis a couple times in which I would awake with a completely numb body, unable to move, with a shadowy figure standing in my doorway. These night terrors eventually went away, and they stopped around middle school. Around that time, I began experiencing very common and easy to achieve lucid dreams, both on purpose and accident.
Very often, after looking at an object for long enough, I would begin to feel that the object was either much smaller than it really was, or that it was a large object further away than it really was. By this, I don't mean that objects were literally larger or smaller in my vision. Rather that they were distorting in size while also distorting in distance from my eyes in order to maintain the same amount of space in my field of view. This would often happen in school while staring at boards, papers, or teachers. It was often very disorientating and dizzying. I could only usually make my perception return to normal after closing my eyes for long enough. Otherwise, my vision would distort more, and everything would feel strangely far away. This is something that I experienced more as a kid, but still occasionally feel even today.
In a similar vein to these visual distortions, I also occasionally experienced mild time distortions. (This is difficult to describe, so bear with me.) Also as a kid, hearing and focusing in on a particular tempo visually and auditorily (like tapping my finger at a constant interval) would cause time to feel as if it was moving significantly faster. It feels like the tapping is happening really slowly while the world around me moved faster, making me feel really anxious. This didn't happen very often, and would usually correlate to the night terrors I would have (feeling much longer than they actually were). This is something I do not experience anymore and haven't since middle school.
I also experienced a couple rare episodes of dissociation growing up. They felt pretty severe to me, feeling like I wasn't in control of my body or mind, like I was watching from far away, and everything felt cloudy and fuzzy. One in particular was very intense, and just lasted for one day- ending with me becoming severely ill and throwing up all over the place.
Nowadays I don't experience much of these things. The only real mental struggles I feel now are high social anxiety, often avoiding places and people so that I don't have to interact. College friends regularly mention to me that they walk past me and that I see them but never say hi, and I almost never realize that I had stared straight at people I know. I often feel like I walk around everyday without recognizing or even seeing people's faces, even ones close to me.
There are a couple other habits I had as a kid that might warrant looking into, but they are things I didn't want to really get into here. If anyone has any insight or shares these experiences, please comment, I'd love to hear! Looking back at all this stuff is strange and a little worrying at times, so any thoughts are appreciated!
