Tires
Walmart, I know. But it's always funny to me when I buy tires for my vehicles, and I'm told they don't fit. These are the same size and brand that the truck is currently sitting on, with oem height.

Looking to buy a set of Dextero A/T tires. Should I buy it?
I’m looking to buy a new set of A/T tires for my 2001 Chevy Blazer. Tire size is 235/75/15r.
I’ve been looking around all over the place for some affordable A/T tires that meets my 235/75/15r size requirement. Dextero A/T at Walmart really seems like a great deal.
I can’t find too many information on these tires, and it seems only Walmart sells these, and they unfortunately don’t tell much about these Dextero tires.
I don’t plan on doing much off-roading, if I do off-road it will be a couple times a year on “unpaved” roads. I just want A/T tires for the looks.
Here are the questions I have:
  • How many miles can I expect out of these tires on 99% on-road driving conditions?
  • Are these tires noisy at highway speeds compared to all season regular car tires?
  • Do these tires ride harsh? How well do these soak up bumps compared to an all season regular tire?
Thanks in advance!

1987 300zx z31
Well I have the z31 and I have put what I could afford in it. Air filter, oil&filter, plugs, wires , distributor cap, button, cleaned throttle body and tps, clutch slave cylinder, headlights with heavy duty plug, Dexteros tires, windshield wipers, new antenna mast. Well I saw a small leak on passenger side hose from engine and I thought the clamp was loose, so I tightened it and thought it was fine. Well a couple days later, it was fine, then bam, hot between normal and pegged. I ordered the head bolts, gotta get gasket kit, timing belt, water pump, tensioner kit, hose and thermostat. Hopefully the head isn't warped.
Any advice? Also I was having trouble getting it to idle correctly. TIA

2023.01.21 15:38 usseal59 Dextero All Terrains (DAT1)

Figured I’d make a post as a follow up to a tire recommendation post I made awhile back. I ended up purchasing a set of Dextero All Terrains (DAT1). I’ve only had the tires for about 1000 miles but out of all the tires I’ve run on my trucks, these are so far some of the best ones for the price. They are awesome in snow, mud and everything in between. I was skeptical because of the price and that they were only sold at Walmart. But to anyone wondering about a decent all terrain. Check these out. Out the door price of $703, mount and balance included. I was previously having to run my truck in 4wd a lot on any messy road conditions. With these new tires driving in 2wd hasn’t been an issue. Granted time and mileage will reveal more about these tires. But at $700 for tires with a 50k mile warranty, I’ll take my chances.

2022.09.17 22:41 fitafter40 Any info on Dextero tires?

I need to get my tires changed on my truck this weekend. I have very limited places to buy them. The easiest place for me to get tires only has one tire that will fit. Dextero 265/60 R18. I have never heard of them.

2022.08.18 10:14 Dreads_in_your_bed Anyone heard of or use these tires?

My buddy recommended some tires he got from Walmart called Dextero Dat1’s. I took a look on the Walmart site and they look pretty aggressive. I wanted to know if anyone has ever seen these or heard anything about them, I can’t find a decent review video anywhere, the closest thing I’ve read to compare them too is the Ironman all terrain tires. I wanna maybe give ‘em a try for the price and warranty, there was one review on the Walmart site by a 4Runner driver, said that he likes em and ran them on his 04. He couldn’t get the image post though. Any insight?

2022.07.15 17:45 petecha697 Dextero DTR1 vs Kuhmo KU27 Tires ?

I need to buy a set of budget tires for my kid's car. I am down to choosing Dextero DTR1 Touring or Kuhmo K27 tires from Walmart due to convenience and price. They have the Dextero tires in stock and the Kuhmo ties are 3 day special order. Is one of these better than the other ? - Thanks

Got my tires today, I think I made a good choice
Got my new tires on today. They are Dextero, it a fairly new company out of South Carolina. They were only $97 each at Walmart (245/65/17). The reviews I could find were all positive. My son had a set of the exact same tire on his 4x4 Ranger and could go through some mud. So I bought them myself. I'll let you know how they perform for me as soon as I have a chance to try them out. I do know they look goood on my truck, especially like from the back where you can see the tread. The sides of the tires are very aggressive, with the raised tread blocks.
Then I have a picture, I came out of Auto Zone a few days ago, and there was another GC parked next to me. So I snapped a picture. As I backed out I realized I had looked at that truck. It has been rode hard and put up wet, there are 6 minor dents on the sides, and a major dent in the rear gate, the interior was shot. The carpet unraveling, seats with multiple tears, plus it has about 70,000 miles more than mine, and cost about $3000 more than mine. Mine is the better looking one on the left.

2021.03.05 06:46 the_real_Spudnut2000 Anyone else getting poor gas mileage from the 2.4L?

I know this sounds like a loaded question, but my '15 SXT with the 2.4L is getting some crappy gas mileage. It's roughly around 220 miles on almost a full tank. That being said, I drive the crap out of this car, I have a 40-mile round trip to work every single day, but I do keep up with oil changes/etc. (One thing it definitely needs is better tires, right now I'm just running the cheap Walmart dextero brand because that's all I could afford)
Edit: It also idles pretty rough, I know that's common with these cars. I just changed my air filter, and I have already replaced the spark plugs when I did my last oil change. I assume it could be the injectors or the fuel filter as she has about 115k miles on her and those have never been serviced to my knowledge.

2020.08.11 03:18 LtNuke Dextero Tires

I recently found some Dextero ATs that are very cheaply priced at Walmart. Its impossible to find good reviews if any at all online. Is this a reputable brand? According to their website, they are owned by GITI tires. They seem okay its just the low price is what is throwing me off.

2020.01.15 02:21 TheAmazingCyb3rst0rm Is what my mechanics quoting me reasonable/is the truck worth the investment?

My mechanics quoting me $825 for the following:
I'm providing all parts. I also need a new windshield, a new front lights mounting backplate thing, and my hood straightened out. Someone hit a deer with it and sold it to and junkyard who sold it to me. I replaced the lights, then realized it leaks a quart of oil every 2 to 3 days. And then I found out it has a busted shock. Oh and now it randomly starts running like shit after long drives (3+ hours/1.5 of me driving like I'm in a race car movie). And sometimes it dies right after being started.... I think I need new plugs/coils/wires which I'm not looking forward to because I've been told you basically have to break your arm to get to the plugs. Oh and it get horrible front end shaking between 30 and 35 and 65 and 70 (and ONLY between those speeds). So its getting a new front tire (already replaced one, helped a bit) and an alignment because it tries to drive off to the left and its annihilating the inside of the tires. Also the coolant temperature gauge never moved above 20 percent up so I need a sensor of some sort.
So really I also need:
So all said and done I'm looking at like $1900 in parts and labour for this truck. Is it worth it? Its a 1995 Ranger Extended Cab 4.0 that is not on its original drive train (body has 272k). I mean the truck only KBBs at 3000 in perfect condition.
Any input anyone? I feel like I'd almost be better off buying another 2nd gen ranger for $1200 somewhere and selling this pile to some high schooler that will either kill themself with its not existent braking power or blow the motor up running it out of oil.

2019.11.01 22:05 v0ltag3 Looking for thoughts and input on tires for my work van!

Hey guys and gals,
My names v0lt & Like the title of my post says - I am currently in need of some new shoes for my work van, and I was hoping for a few of my fellow miracle workers to “enlighten” me on what they prefer to run on their trusty steeds...
I live in New England and have to deal with my fair share of snow/ice, but I’d prefer to get some decent all season tires rather than have to spring for a set of studded//winter tires and then a separate set for the rest of the year. I’ve got several quotes for x4 tires - Walmart has 2 different brands = Goodyear wrangler authority ($600+ before taxes) and dextero dh2 ($546 before taxes) & Town Fair tire has some comparable tires for about $130/ea...
Have any of you actually had either of those brand tires on your vans? I’m definitely looking for any and all recommendations for tires and want to hear how they’ve worked out so far. Also, if anyone has any other tire places they’d recommend,(I’m in CT),I’m all ears!
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies! Time for the weekend - Woohoo!!!

2018.06.23 17:59 Arrofalcon Valve stem failure

I bought 4 new tires from my local shop 3 months ago after having a blowout on my way to work (2001 GMC Sierra 1500 with original tires, 60k miles so I knew it was coming eventually). I figured "might as well just do all 4 now. I wanted the same firestones I had but the shop didn't have any and I needed tires that day, so I ended up settling for some Dexteros against my better judgement. Fast forward to last week, I was in Missouri on business so my girlfriend had my truck, and she ended up getting a complete flat on her way to work. She called me and I was infuriated because I just put new tires on and they had less than 1000 miles on them. Thankfully a friend of mine was around to help her get the tire off and back to the shop. I asked her what the tire looked like and she said it was just flat, no damage to the tire walls or the tread, so naturally I thought "ok it's either a bad valve stem or the beading is crap". I asked her to put some fix a flat in it just to see where the tire was leaking, sure enough the valve stem was the culprit. She took the tire back to the shop (still under warranty) and they replaced the valve stem for free.
Now I'm not bashing my shop or jumping to conclusions, but I can't help but think they either torqued the valve stem wrong, or even worse they didn't put a new one in when they replaced that tire. I've personally never had a valve fail on me.
So, my question is, should I take the truck back to the shop and ask them to replace the other 3 stems, or is this just a random occurrence and not worth the coordination? If it's shoddy workmanship on their part then I have no problem demanding replacements (and asking to keep the 3 since I know they changed them). I don't want to be in a situation where another valve stem fails and I'm 200 or 300 or 1000 miles away and new a wrecker.

2017.07.17 20:22 wanderer247 Got a quote for new tires...is this good?

I got a quote for tires, 265/70/16 is what I needed. They have a Dextero right now, which is what I had before. 428 for tires, valve stem 12.00, and lifetime balance is 36. What is this lifetime balance and do I need this? Well, with the sale tax, plus my discount I think is looking good. I just don't know how much they charge to take my old tires.

First And formost, not afraid of digging into the engine compartments and aware of the usual's.
Picked up a 97' GMC Sierra SLE, for 1.1k, Had 202.4k miles on the block/frame, but documented full Rebuild @ 197k. (Purchased from Family mechanic, only reason the price wasn't too bonkers).
Not much issues with it, but Curious questions. (proboly going to be a pavement queen).
Whats usually everyones go-to Tires? as its going to be a daily driver and none of the whole, I got a 5.0 so, must go fast either.
(was going to go for General Grabber STX's, but wanted a second opinion, DEFINATLLY NOT PUTTING wallyworld Dextero's on it)
And Outside of some scratches, and 1 dent in the box. how did i do? Planning on eventually going from the Emerald Green to something a bit darker. Not about to do anything silly like a lift kit/knobby wheels, but Would proboly do a Rim swap, as the Stock rims are Corroded. No issues with the Transmission either (yet).
Just got tired of hugging the road in a 00' pontiac Grand am.

2016.10.15 23:16 Threedawg Check your tires! NHTSA Recall

Two tire recalls just got emailed to me from a friend. How often does this stuff show up?
NHTSA Campaign ID Number : 16T016 Synopsis : Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (Continental) is recalling certain Crosscontact LX20 tires, size P275/55R20 111S, manufactured May 3, 2015, to May 9, 2015. The tires, sold as replacement tires as well as original equipment on certain General Motors full size trucks and SUVs, may have insufficient adhesion within the belt package, resulting in tread wear, vibration, noise, or bulging areas on the tire. The insufficient adhesion can cause partial or full tread/belt loss, increasing the risk of a crash. Continental will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Continental customer service at 1-888-799-2168.
NHTSA Campaign ID Number : 16T017 Synopsis : GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. (GITI) is recalling certain Primewell Valera Touring II tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V and 225/50R18 95T, GT Radial Champiro Touring A/S tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V and 225/50R18 95T, and Dextero Touring DTR1 tires, sizes 205/50R17 93V XL, 215/50R17 95V XL, 225/50R17 94V. The affected replacement passenger car tires may develop cracks in the lower sidewall, potentially resulting in a loss of air. A loss of air pressure may result in sudden tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. GITI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October 2016. Owners may contact GITI customer service at 1-877-342-0882.
