Intraconazol

Valley Fever; Fluconazole and Itraconazole

2024.04.18 18:44 osified Valley Fever; Fluconazole and Itraconazole

Hello I have a 2yo spayed Female dog with all the symptoms of valley fever although no positive diagnosis yet. She was on Fluconazole in December with no improvement. We switched her to Itraconazole after she had a seizure. Within 2 weeks she was doing better and back to her old self. Fast forward to now and she is sick again. With a cough, weakness, lameness, fecal incontinence but no seizures yet. I read the intraconazole does not penetrate the CSF. My ask is if we can give her a half dose of intraconazole and a half does of Fluconazole to have the best of both worlds?

2024.02.20 15:30 olavodogyaboi Is it possible to cure candida with just organic diet and probiotics?

Still sick 3-4 years later. Brain fog so bad i have slurred speech, dry hair and hair loss, terrible anxiety, fungal skin rashes eczema psoriasis and anal itching.
I tried everything recommended here. Nothing worked. I starved myself on off for 2 years on candida diet making me so sick.
Ive been eating just organic meat and organic fruit past 2 months. Symptoms are not going away but its not getting worse.
I tried: Nystatin, fluconazole, intraconazole, low carb. Zero carb, probiotics (megaspore etc), sf722, i looked into heavy metals and tried chelation for abit also.
I also tried other stuff but i cant remember it.
Any help here? Any pointers?

2024.01.19 01:07 olavodogyaboi Whats working for me

Hi. Many prob recognize my name. Been posting here for years now.
Dont want to say this is a cure. But it is working for me and my brain is starting to come back online, my fungal rashes are going away, and my anxiety/depression also reduced alot.
  1. candida is a symptom of a underlying cause. Its not the root cause. So dont kill or starve candida it wont work…… it will make u sick and hate ur life doing candida diet. Ive tried flucoanzole nystatin intraconazole, carnivore candida diet everything. Doesnt work. It doesnt fix underlying root cause.
  2. find the underlying root cause; for me im quite sure (not 100%) that my candida is present due to heavy metals.
^ i have began chelation 8 days ago after a recommendation from another redditor who saw her candida go away by getting rid of heavy metals.
I an eating meat and fruit, low innflamatory foods. I am having over 150g carbs a day. Before i had 0 carbs,
Now i feel a bazillion times better allready.
Long story short; i dont beleve in common treatment of candida like its the devil. Its there to help you. Its a normal organism in your gut. Maybe its only present to buffer the heavy metals and not have ur body shut down since they are so toxic.
Hope this helps. Again as allways i will report back if i keep improving. I am almost able to communicate properly again after being almost autistic behaviour for 2 yrs which really makes me happy

I have been put on intraconazol for a yeast infection that came and never went away for 9 months. It's been 8 days and I still have symptoms. My doctor said I should know if it's going to work or not by 2 weeks in. But I'm so anxious it's not working if Im still seeing symptoms at this point. Anyone out there that has had success with intraconazol for vaginal yeast infection? And how long did it take for things to start working?

2023.12.08 00:07 Herenowcow safe to take intraconazole while having fluconazole in my system?

I’m struggling with a vaginal yeast infection. I have taken two doses of fluconazole three days apart (the last one was taken two days ago). While there’s been improvement, I’m still irritated and have a bit of white and clumpy discharge.
I went to check up at the gynecologist’s office and saw the nurse practitioner today. She prescribed intraconazole (one day— two 100mg in the morning and two at night) because I’ve taken diflucan some 4-5 times in the past 2 and half months (we mistaked my ureaplasma for a yeast infection and then later I took more while on antibiotics to treat it. I’ve tested negative for ureaplasma since.)
Does anyone know if it’s safe to take intraconazole while there is still fluconazole in my system? Will side effects be worse? I have a third fluconazole pill, should I take that instead?

2023.12.02 09:58 Medical_Reindeer_817 Ringworm nightmare…please help

I adopted my long haired Birman cat about 6 months ago, from what I very soon came to learn, was an extremely shitty shelter. She was supposed to be an ESA animal for me, and to her credit, she is a very sweet cat. But poor girl had a myriad of issues that required lots of stressful vet visits in the first few months. Ear mites, conjunctivitis, and the absolute worst being ringworm.
She had severe ringworm that we treated with intraconazole and at first saw great results in her. However, after a while I started noticing new scaly patches on her again. Around the same time, I was being treated orally and topically for my ringworm.
Basically, the worm got better, but then it came back. I cleaned and disinfected the apartment to the best of my abilities, so this came as an extremely huge disappointment.
I took her to the vet yesterday, and the vet told me she had chronic ringworm. She said that some cats are just carriers of ringworm and apparently fluffy is one of them. I didn’t even know this was a thing. I kept trying to ask what I could do to best eliminate the worm, but she basically kept shutting me down and dashing my efforts. She gave me three treatment options, intraconazole, another oral med, and medicated shampoo. But she wanted to stress to me that even with all those treatments there are no guarantees it would get rid of her fungal infection.
I’m just a college kid living in a small shitty apartment, and I’m doing my best for fluffy, i really am, but I feel like I’m left with so few options at this point. Either I can go through months of hell again to try and get rid of this, or I can give her up.
This absolutely breaks me to say. We’ve been through so much bullshit together it feels so wrong to give her up after everything, but I feel like this is what it’s coming down to.
This especially hurts because fluff has had such a difficult time adjusting to her new home with me. Today was the first day that she wanted to be around me and be petted and loved by me. I’ve been waiting 6 months for her to warm up like this, this KILLS me.
I’m stressed, I’m depressed, and I generally have no idea what to even do at this point. I just want someone to tell me what to do, because this ringworm is truly breaking me. I don’t want to give up fluffy, but I emotionally cannot handle chronic ringworm if that’s even a thing.

2023.08.01 19:02 fellaure Recurrent yeast infection support needed

Title says it all. I've tried diflucan, clotrimazole suppositories, intraconazole. I am deathly allergic to creams (very swollen and gives me UTIs from all the swelling).
I have an appointment tomorrow to test for what kind of yeast it is (previously I did a test to see what was causing my burning sensation), cost me a LOT of money to tell me it's yeast (and not albicans... so which is it???). The medication they gave as mentioned above didn't work. I am also lactose intolerant so yogurt gives me insane diarrhoea that also makes me at risk for UTIs. Antibiotics for a UTI started this whole mess for me.
While realising my yeast infection did not go away, but has gotten worse (just realised my discharge is now cottage cheese like, lumpy and white), I am now panicking at 1am. I bought Boric acid suppositories in hopes it'll solve everything in the mean time while I wait for my swab results to come back (takes 5-6 days), but I'm worried it's Candida Glabrata (which scares me a lot since I know it's very resistant).
I am a poor struggling university student who's running low on money and is desperate. I would love some reassurance that boric acid is probably going to help, and if there's any success stories for boric acid working on glabrata.

2023.07.21 06:36 fellaure Yeast infection but minimal symptoms?

Recently took cipro for a UTI and on my last day of treatment I did a vaginal swab and they found candida. unfortunately the test wasn't able to say what strain it was except that it was NOT albicans.
The only symptom I have is occasional urgency to pee and slight sting when I pee. I tested negative for a UTI, ureaplasma, mycoplasma, etc. Only a Yeast infection came up that was "light growth".
Since the swab was done 2 weeks ago, my symptoms have largely subsided but are still somewhat present. my gynae gave me 2 clotrimazole pessaries and a one day course of intraconazole (2 tablets twice a day).
I'm worried it's some strain thats hard to beat (glabrata). Apparently the gynaes where I'm at can't tell me what strain it is specifically and I'd need to go to a hospital to do that. But if I get a referral it'll take me ages to get tested and I'm near broke.
Wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal for mild yeast infections after antibiotics to go away? Is it even worth to try and resolve it? I don't have a lot of money so my decisions matter a lot and idk if I have the money to trial and error and hope for the best when my symptoms are mild and I can't tell if it's gone or not
I tested negative for diabetes and have never had a Yeast infection. My discharge is usually white and silky even before any yeast.

2022.12.16 17:50 Minute_Vanilla3415 Preference on prescription medications

Hey guys,
I have access to Voriconizole and Intraconazole from my doctor - I also have some Fluconzaole on hand.
I just took one Fluconzaole tablet on an empty stomach this morning, and about two hours later I had to run to the bathroom —
I passed the craziest bio film (I’ve never seen anything like this)
In your suggestion, would you continue on the week worth of Fluconzaole that I have left and see where I’m at, or has anyone had better results with Sporonox for yeast / mold
Thank you

2021.06.10 18:06 umbucaja How does one measure progress of antifungal therapy?

I'm asking for advice, but I'm not planning to use it as a substitute for actually going to a vet. I want to measure how my cat has been responding to intraconazole, probably by doing some exam. Definitely no lab will get her tested unless I have some papers signed by a vet, so I cannot skip that, even if I wanted to.
I just want to know what is the optimal exam I should tell my vet I want to do. I've had a really hard time diagnosing her. She went through three exams, none of which were a fungal culture, which is the golden standard for diagnosing a fungal infection. If I knew the name of this exam before I could've asked specifically for that and maybe the vet would do it, but I didn't know and waste a lot of precious time.
Now that my cat is taking intraconazole her symptoms got much better and that is the only positive diagnose we have. She still has the classical lump in the nose but it got really smaller, and her respiratory symptoms disappeared. However, she is losing her appetite, which seems to be a colateral effect of intraconazole, so I'm starting to worry when it's time to stop the treatment, or if we should switch to another antifungal, such as fluconazal, to get more efficient results.
In other words, I need to know what the next step should be. I'm assuming that a fungal culture is the exam I should do and I'm going to ask for it but I wanted to hear opinions. I don't really have a vet that I trust and I don't know how to find one. I can only go to a clinic and pay for advice, and I've received a lot of conflicting and confusing information. It seems that I need to make my own decisions regarding treatment, which I plan to, but I need help to really access what the options are.

2021.06.08 02:54 wauwy Ringworm + carpet?

I know you guys get a ton of posts asking about ringworm, but mine is about a sort of specific topic (carpeting), so I hope someone can help me out.
So, the "scrape" on my new 5-month-old kitten's nose is the dreaded ringworm. She's got another tiny patch on her paw, too. She's begun treatment on 10 mg/ml oral Intraconazole and topical Miconazole 1%.
I know we have to keep her quarantined as well, especially since I have another cat (indoor 5-7 y/o neutered Russian Blue mix). The problem is, the four of us live in a small townhouse and keeping her in the only cleanable bathroom is not an option. We do have a tiny study/office, but it has wall-to-wall carpeting, which I know is not ideal. Right now our plan is to wash her two folded blankets every other day and deep-clean the study every week by vacuuming, disposing of the vacuum bag, and then spraying Lysol on the carpet for 10 min, in addition to wiping down the few hard surfaces in there with a bleach mixture.
Is this sufficient? Should we purchase Rescue/generic Rescue spray and wipes instead? Rent a steam cleaner? So much of what I've read contradicts other stuff. Again, it's only two small spots on her, but she's been everywhere and on everything in the house. We plan to deep-clean everything starting Wednesday, when we learn whether my other cat has it (which I doubt, though they have been in contact for a few days); does this plan make sense?
As I'm sure you know, the info out there is overwhelming (and reeeeeeally wants you to limit the affected cat to a bathroom). I'm vascillating between "this is too much" and "this is not enough or soon enough" and my head is spinning.
Thanks for any help in advance. 😿

Just in case:
