2024.05.19 06:37 MrBackBreaker586 šŸš€ HYPE POST: GameStop (GME) to the Moon! šŸš€

Hey Apes! šŸ¦šŸ’ŽšŸ™Œ
Itā€™s time to get hyped about whatā€™s coming for GameStop (GME)! Hereā€™s why weā€™re gearing up for an epic journey to the moon:

1. New Share Authorization

GameStop has recently authorized the issuance of up to 45 million new shares. This strategic move can provide the company with significant capital if timed correctly. Unlike in 2021, when GME couldnā€™t sell shares during the squeeze due to regulatory constraints, they are now better prepared with timely disclosures. This could mean massive funds for GMEā€™s transformation!

2. Ryan Cohen's Moves

Our fearless leader, Ryan Cohen, has been making waves in the financial world. Remember his significant stake in Bed Bath & Beyond in 2022? Although he exited quickly, this move showed his strategic brilliance. Now, heā€™s all in on GME, and his recent acquisition of additional shares indicates strong confidence. Cohenā€™s vision and leadership are pivotal for GMEā€™s future.

3. Upcoming Catalysts

4. High Short Interest

With 64.37 million shares shorted, we are primed for a potential short squeeze. The adjusted float, after accounting for DRS, institutional, and insider holdings, is approximately 45.213 million shares. This means the short interest is around 142.3% of the adjusted float! If buying pressure increases, shorts will scramble to cover, sending the stock soaring.

5. Technical Analysis

6. Regulatory Compliance

The SEC is cracking down on naked short selling with new rules coming into effect on January 2, 2025. This will increase market transparency and could significantly impact short interest reporting. This added regulatory oversight is good news for us!

7. The Power of the Apes

Weā€™ve seen it before, and we can see it again. The power of retail investors banding together can create unprecedented market movements. Hold the line, buy the dips, and stay informed. Our collective strength can drive GME to new heights!

LET'S GO TO THE MOON! šŸš€šŸŒ•

This is more than a stock; itā€™s a movement. Weā€™re in this together, and weā€™re stronger than ever. With strategic moves, high short interest, and upcoming catalysts, the stage is set for something monumental. Letā€™s make history again!
Stay strong, Apes! TO THE MOON! šŸš€šŸ¦šŸ’ŽšŸ™Œ

2024.05.19 06:37 Wonderful-Photo-9938 Mavs Core is still under Contract in 2026

The mavs core jus reach the WCF.
And they also have a relative young core.
Luka, Kyrie, PJ, Gafford, Lively, Green, Powell can still be there next year and 2 years from now. Unless they trade someone which I doubt.
I am not sure if they will extend Hardaway Jr after next year. But probably. Not familiar with their future salary cap and apron.
We talked about OKC in the prev thread for their bright future
But Mavs actually have one too.
And except for Kyrie. The core are all in their early to Mid 20s. They have a very bright future.
OKC/Mavs Might be the next in line after Joker and Nuggets regress. (And ofc Minny too with Ant)
Mavs and Luka Fans are finally happy management was able to give Luka a proper help and support. Luka's part now to win with these given help.
Hoping fo his success. Luka seems a nice guy.

2024.05.19 06:36 Adventurous6962 US investors shift to long-term bonds amid interest rate cut anticipations šŸ“ˆšŸ’°

Article: https://www.useyourbrainforex.com/post/us-investors-flock-to-long-term-bonds-amid-rate-cut-bets
In a significant move, US investors are aggressively shifting their money into long-term bonds, betting that this often overlooked asset class will benefit from future interest rate cuts. šŸ“‰šŸ’ø
Research by JPMorgan Chase & Co. indicates that the top 20 mutual fund managers in the US have increased their duration over the past two months as yields climbed. Investors are favoring high-grade corporate bonds over government debt to avoid negative carry, according to Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, a global market strategist at the bank.
This shift comes as long-term corporate bonds regain popularity, driven by recent data showing a decline in US inflation for the first time in six months. Markets are now pricing in two rate cuts this year, reigniting interest in these bonds.
Gershon Distenfeld from AllianceBernstein Holding LP notes that yields typically rally three to four months before the Federal Reserve starts cutting rates. He recently extended the duration in his $23 billion American Income Portfolio, preparing for potential rate cuts that could happen anytime from now until 2025.
Bank of America Corp. strategists also suggest that the "anything but bonds" trade may have peaked, predicting a comeback for long-duration debt in the second half of the year. Fund managers have already increased their bond allocation by an average of 7 percentage points from April, while cash levels dropped to their lowest in nearly three years.
In response to this demand, companies like Merck & Co. Inc. are issuing long-term bonds, taking advantage of low prevailing credit spreads and locking in risk premiums. Merck's recent 30-year bond is the longest-dated euro corporate bond since 2021, contributing to an increase in the average maturity of corporate bonds issued this month.
Luca Bottiglione from Zurich Insurance Group AG and Althea Spinozzi from Saxo Bank AS highlight that companies are finding a sweet spot in the markets. They can secure the lowest yields on the yield curve while investors, eager for an aggressive rate-cutting cycle, are willing to extend duration.
Join the discussion on how these strategic shifts might impact the market and your investments! šŸ’¬

Guess how much $10k invested in Nvidia IPO is now worth ? You will be shocked !
Hi everyone! It's my second attempt to repeat this exercise that I did with Home Depot!
Our second case is now Nvidia! 10 k invested in Nvidia IPO's in 1999 is now worth a staggering $24,3 million with dividend reinvested. These underdog company that started by building graphic card is a company worth a trillion dollars and made many investors millionaires.
Calculation : I researched the stock price during its IPO day in 1999 . By including spliting shares, I calculated that it traded at $0,4 each shares. I made the exercise when the stock price closed at $960. Its recent high ! I included the little dividend of $0,039 or give a yield of 0,017% . dividing $960 by 0,4 = 2400 It's mean that your capital would have been multiplied by a factor of 2400 . It would have given $24,000,000 without the dividend reinvested with time !
Why I do this ? I am a momentum investor and trader and I study and analyze 100 baggers stocks. I am a canslim adept and I am convinced that a good breakout or trend following strategy would have allowed an investor to capture a big portion of the move . It would have changed the investor's financial life . When these stocks rise, it's create good opportunity for breakout traders. Another advantage of this strategy is that it's allowed the trader to buy the stock when it's trending!
I am still continuing my research and analysis.i am developing a system to detect these kind of stocks and their future explosive moves that can make someone rich !
When I will be ready ,I will share my system with the community!
Please be respectful and thanks for your comprehension!
Happy weekend!

2024.05.19 06:36 Definition_Novel Antanas Bimba Jr. - An American Lithuanian Revolutionary.

Antanas Bimba Jr. - An American Lithuanian Revolutionary.
In July of 1913, the newly-arrived to America Antanas Bimba Jr., a then 19-year old Catholic ethnic Lithuanian immigrant, would later become one of the most important political figures of the Communist movement in the United States.
Antanas Bimba Jr. was born in Lithuania in the village of ValeikiÅ”kis, in the RokiÅ”kis district of Lithuania near the Latvian border, on January 22nd, 1894. His father, Antanas Bimba Sr., was a blacksmith and peasant farmer. Antanas Jr was one of six surviving children of his fatherā€™s second wife. The Bimba family were proud Lithuanians and devout Catholics, something that annoyed much of the Czarist government whom sought to impose Russian Orthodoxy and Russian language on Lithuania. This drove many Lithuanians, including the Bimbas, to immigrate to the United States and other countries in search of a better life.
During the summer of 1913, at age 19, Antanas arrived in Burlington, New Jersey on a steamship with an older brother. He and his brother were then employed at a steel mill for only $7 a week and worked 60 hours weekly. Due to unbearable working conditions, Antanas and his family relocated, and he and his brother took up another job in Rumford, Maine at a pulp mill. Although conditions there were marginally better than the steel mill job, Antanas became sick from chest pains due to inhalation of toxic fumes, and was forced to leave the job and seek yet another one. This experience of being an immigrant and being exploited for his labor had a profound effect on Bimba, and it drove his interest in Marxism.
After leaving the milling industry, he got his next job as a truck driver, becoming acquainted with Lithuanian American socialists in the process. His first revolutionary achievement was helping in making a co-operative bakery for rye bread, a staple food of the Lithuanian community. In becoming a socialist, he abandoned Catholicism, preferring agnosticism, what he called ā€œreligious freethinkingā€, not wishing to tie himself to organized religion. He later became an atheist as he got older in age.
In May of 1916, Antanas attended college at Valparaiso University, a small private college that became popular in attendance with members of the Lithuanian immigrant community in Valparaiso, Indiana. He attended there until 1919, earning a degree in history and sociology, and was able to pay for his classes by tending to a Lithuanian owned library in the town. In the summers he worked in a wire factory and machine shop in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bimba than became active in the Lithuanian Socialist Federation (LSF) , which served as a branch organization of the Socialist Party of America, with the LSF catering to Lithuanian immigrant populations (both primarily ethnic Lithuanian Catholics, as well as Litvak Jews.) He spent his time in the LSF writing numerous Lithuanian-language publications for them, as well as traveling to Lithuanian immigrant communities in cities in the US delivering Marxist political lectures amongst Lithuanian laborers in steel manufacturing cities like Gary, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois.
His first brush against the capitalist legal system came in 1918. It is not fully clear as to whether Bimba was arrested for his trade unionist and socialist beliefs, or his objection to World War One at the time. However, Lithuanian-American historians generally contend his arrest was a result of expressing all of those opinions publicly. Eventually he was released and charges were dropped.
In summer 1919, he got a job as editor of ā€œDarbasā€ (ENG: ā€œLaborā€) the Lithuanian newspaper of the ACWA (Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America).
On September 1st 1919, the Socialist Party of America fractured into rival organizations, mainly amongst Social Democrat vs Marxist lines. The Marxist faction became the early iteration of the Communist Party of America, which the LSF backed, and Bimba was quick to support the CPUSA as a result. Bimba later became the editor of another Lithuanian American Marxist newspaper, this time ā€œKovaā€ (ENG: ā€œStruggleā€) for the newly formed LCF (Lithuanian Communist Federation).
Following the Palmer Raids by the US government which seized communist publications and shut down their press, Bimba then published the LCF underground newspaper ā€œKomunistasā€ (ENG:ā€Communistā€).
In 1922, Bimba became editor of the Brooklyn, New York communist Lithuanian newspaper Laisvė (ENG: ā€œLibertyā€) and remained its editor until 1928.
In November 1922, along with 6 other Lithuanians, he founded and held a committee meeting for a workers trade union called the United Toilers of America (UTA). The UTA also had numerous branch organizations, mainly serving immigrant communities, which operated notably with the help of Bimba and the rest of the 6 man committee.
The organizations of the UTA were as follows:
The Workersā€™ Defense Conference of New England
Alliance of Polish Workers of America
The Ukrainian Association
Lettish (Latvian) Publishing Association
The Polish Publishing Association
The Lithuanian Workersā€™ Association
Womanā€™s Progressive Alliance.
Since most of these organizations served Eastern European immigrants, it can be argued that Bimba is perhaps the first person of a Soviet nationality who developed a ā€œdiaspora Soviet/Eastern Bloc consciousnessā€ driven ideology, aimed at unifying different Soviet and Eastern Bloc people in the diaspora under socialism for the benefits of their labor. A true visionary Bimba was.
The UTA later became an organization absorbed officially into the Communist Party of the United States. The UTA eventually fell apart after raids by the government during the Bridgman Convention meetings of the UTA, in which its high profile leaders of William Z. Foster and C.E. Ruthenberg were arrested. After this, the UTA was disbanded.
But it was on January 26th, 1926 that Bimba truly made his biggest mark on Marxist history in the United States. He had traveled to Brockton, Massachusetts to address the Lithuanian community there at the Lithuanian National Hall. At the meeting he championed socialism, encouraged unionizing in the Lithuanian immigrant community, and criticized the Catholic Church.
He said in critique of the church as an institution:
ā€œPeople have built churches for the last 2,000 years, and we have sweated under Christian rule for 2,000 years. And what have we got? The government is in control of the priests and bishops, clerics and capitalists. They tell us there is a God. Where is he?ā€
When he received pushback from religious individuals in the crowd who ridiculed his disbelief in God and Jesus Christ, he said:
ā€œThere is no such thing. Who can prove it? There are still fools enough who believe in God. The priests tell us there is a soul. Why, I have a soul, but that sole is on my shoe. Referring to Christ, the priests also tell us he is a god. Why, he is no more a god than you or I. He was just a plain man.ā€
After an individual complained to police, he was arrested and put on trial under Salem Witch Trial era blasphemy laws.
In addition to being charged with blasphemy, he was also charged under anti-communist political sedition laws, based on the following statement he made at the same meeting:
ā€œWe do not believe in the ballot. We do not believe in any form of government but the Soviet form and we shall establish the Soviet form of government here. The red flag will fly on the Capitol in Washington and there will also be one on the Lithuanian Hall in Brockton.ā€
With the legal and financial support of the local Workerā€™s Communist party, the International Labor Defense organization, and the American Civil Liberties Union, he was able to widen public support for himself.
The trial began on February 24th, 1926; six days later, on March 1st, 1926 he was found not guilty of blasphemy but guilty of sedition and ordered to pay a $100 fine. He was then released.
Opponents attempted to get him back in jail on more similar charges, but in a rare twist of events, the lead prosecutor dropped his case, simply saying it wasnā€™t worth pursuing.
As a result of the high profile trial of Bimbaā€™s case, courts later ruled the blasphemy laws unconstitutional. As such, Bimba fighting such corrupt laws, causing them to be thrown out, is his crowning achievement.
In 1928, Bimba ran for NY State Assembly on the Communist Party ticket in the 13th Assembly District of Brooklyn, NYC.
Bimba also produced 2 important leftist American works, both originally in Lithuanian; A survey of labor history called ā€œThe History of the American Working Classā€ (1927), and an account of government repressions of Pennsylvania coal miners in ā€œThe Molly Maguiresā€ (1932). Both books were published by International Publishers, a publishing arm of the Communist Party of The United States.
Bimba was an editor of a Marxist magazine for the final time in 1936, writing for the Lithuanian language publication ā€œÅ viesaā€ (ENG: ā€œLightā€).
In 1962, Bimba was awarded his honorary doctorate in history from Vilnius University in the capital of Lithuania.
Bimba was persecuted by the American capitalist legal system yet again in 1963, when the so-called ā€œDepartment of Justiceā€ tried to deport him on grounds of sedition while un-naturalized, on the grounds that, since he was not yet a citizen when brought to trial in 1926 (he didnt become a citizen until 1927) the court argued he should be deported due to pro-Communist activism prior to his naturalization. Historians generally agree the targeting of Bimba to be deported to Soviet Lithuania was politically motivated revenge, in that the DOJ was upset that Bimba refused to testify against other communists in the political witch hunts of the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1957 earlier.
Bimba appealed against the government until 1967, arguing to be allowed to stay in America, as he was politically committed to building socialism in the USA despite that he respected the USSR.
Miraculously, in July of 1967, Attorney General Ramsey Clark dropped his case, viewing it as a form of political intimidation.
Bimba later died in NYC on September 30th, 1982, at age 88. He left his mark on the movement for socialism in America, and made himself a hero for Lithuanian Americans and all diaspora Lithuanians.
In conclusion, donā€™t be like reactionary Lithuanians. Be like Antanas Bimba. Be revolutionary. May his accomplishments forever be acknowledged.

2024.05.19 06:28 gh0stm3n My Mom is psychotic, and nobody cares.

My (18m) mom is psychotic, but for whatever reason nobody in my family gives a shit. She has always been a little crazy (she believes in every conspiracy theory in the book), but she didnā€™t really go off the deep end until my dad divorced her when I was 4. Since then, she has gotten progressively crazier to an unmanageable level. I could write an epic just filled with everything sheā€™s done thatā€™s crazy, but I will just hit the highlights.
I live with my dad, and since we moved to St. Louis from fl 5 years ago, I have not seen my mom that much (thankfully). The problem is, all my close family are pushing me to be nice and accept my mom for who she is. My dad and brother both think I am overreacting when I say I donā€™t want to see her. This means I am effectively permanently stuck with being friendly with my mom, as I do not want to alienate my other family members. I hate that someone can do so much shit to you and get off scot free.

2024.05.19 06:07 throwaway_cloud_nw Relative Strength of Components and Index, Who Moves Who?

So one thing in day trading I've followed is monitoring say NQ futures, and then certain big constituents of it like AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, AMZN, etc. The theory is if the NQ as a whole takes a big downward dip, but a corresponding company that is part of it does not make the same exact movement, this demonstrates Relative Strength (RS) at that point. However I'm confused on some things on who exactly is moving who. Is the dog wagging the tail or vice versa or mix of both.
1 - Is it that a large institution(s) are selling the NQ index as a whole (i.e. NQ futures), or selling down the big components of it that causes NQ to tank? Or it's a mix?
2 - In the case of RS, if the NQ index as a whole moves down, but say AMZN doesn't move down as much, shouldn't one see in that slice of time a bigger volume spike on AMZN of some buying going on in it to maintain it "flatter" while the index overall moves down?

2024.05.19 06:06 salut_tout_le_monde_ How to deal with my workplace?

My boss recently put out a no overtime rule because he thinks everything can be done in 40 hours or less. This simply cannot be done, not for me or anyone else who works there. In fact, Iā€™ve had to constantly move hours every week to the next week, so that each week I only put 40 hours on my timesheet. But it ends up being a cycle of transferring hours to the next weeks.
I also made a mistake of saying yes to everything in the beginning and now I feel like they just ask me to do stuff beyond my capacity (like working on my weekends, and transferring hours even though I work more than 40 hours in a week). And now I feel like I set a high standard for me thatā€™s just unsustainable.
We have a manager who is my bossā€™ right hand person and Iā€™ve talked to her so many times but nothingā€™s happening/changing no matter how apologetic she is all the time. They wonā€™t stop.
I feel trapped. Iā€™m too scared to quit because iā€™ve only been at this job 4 months and Im scared future employers will see that job and that Iā€™m not serious. Itā€™s not about the money at all, itā€™s about building my career. I wanna quit but Iā€™d feel like a failure even though part of me knows im not and they all say I do an amazing job.
Please help, any advice will do as I dont know what to do and im just so sad all the time.

I (25f) have been seeing my now boyfriend (27m), who will call Joe, for about six months now. We made it official three months into dating so I like to say heā€™s only officially been my boyfriend for three months.
My best friend, who weā€™ll call Anne, is getting married next month. Iā€™m one of her bridesmaids. Itā€™s a small destination wedding, only about forty close friends and family. The bridal party is set to arrive about four days before the actual wedding to do bachelobachelorette stuff.
The issue came up yesterday morning when my boyfriend started asking what time my flight was for the wedding week. I didnā€™t think much of it and told him. He came back about ten minutes later and said heā€™d have to go on a different flight because he couldnā€™t find one on the same airline or at the same time.
I didnā€™t understand why he was looking at flights. I asked him if he was planning on going on a solo or guys trip while I was gone since I wouldnā€™t be around.
He looked confused and then said he was looking for flights for the wedding.
I then proceeded to tell him, trying to be as gentle as possible, that I wasnā€™t planning on a plus one and the guest list was already finalized. He has only ever met Anne over face time since she lives in a different state from us.
After telling him, he exploded at me. Honestly it was a total 180 from his usual behavior. He said it was insensitive of me to not ask for a plus one because weā€™d been together for so long now. That I was purposefully excluding him and trying to keep him a secret. He ranted and talked in a circle and I just sat there in shock. What snapped me out of the daze was when he insinuated that I would likely cheat with one of the groomsmen.
Thats when I got up, got my shit, and started walking out of his place. He freaked out even more and said we needed to talk about this and I couldnā€™t walk out on him. He tried to grab me twice but I shoved him off.
Since I last night, I havenā€™t spoken to him. heā€™s been blowing up my phone with calls and texts that I donā€™t reply to. Even put him on do not disturb because it was so annoying. I was pretty solid in believing I wasnā€™t TA but one of his best friends got my number and texted me I was being petty and a female dog about everything. That I lead Joe on for six months.
I havenā€™t talked to anyone about this since I wanted to cool down before I got a second opinion. But now that his friend is texting men, I feel like I handled it all poorly. I know I need space right now but I donā€™t want to ghost Joe, which his friend implied Iā€™m now doing.
So Iā€™ve come here to get some unbiased opinions. Fellow redditors, I asked you now if i am TA for not having my boyfriend be a plus one to my best friends wedding.
posting this is the other aita sub too
edit: to clarify. we donā€™t live together. i just spend the night at his place sometimes
edit 2: in our last conversation last night i texted him that i needed some space to breathe to which he then just kept calling and texting
edit 3 because people keep acting like joe is a secret: he has met my other friends. he hasnā€™t met anne in person because she lives in a different state. across the country to be exact. theyā€™ve only met through face time. iā€™ve met his parents and friends. he hasnā€™t met mine because they moved back to mexico two years ago. he has met them over face time.
edit 4: his friend saying lead him on was ā€œleading him to believe he was invitedā€

OOP: i accepted the wedding invite long before we met. this wedding invite didnā€™t just recently happen. + main reason for why i never asked for a plus one is because joe and i had only just started seeing each other when the wedding was being planned. a lot went into it because itā€™s a destination wedding in europe + iā€™m not meaning to dismiss it. iā€™m pointing out thatā€™s why iā€™m not having a plus one unlike the other groomsmen and bridesmaids. they have been with their partners for years and personally know anne. joe has only ever met her over face time + also thereā€™s a lot more then just buying a ticket. i said earlier that this wedding was planned months before we met. anne planned a lot of things for this wedding that are catered to the fact thereā€™s a limited guest list. again. i would have been fine to explain all this but again. i never got a chance to + this wedding wasnā€™t a secret. he was even aware of it when we first started seeing each other because iā€™d just done dress shopping. again. this wedding was very planned out because it is indeed, very small and private in france. heā€™s also met anne and her fiance over face time, not in person because sheā€™s in a different state. heā€™s met my other friends as well. he hasnā€™t met my parents because they live in a different country.

Update: May 11, 2024
The general consensus was that I wasnā€™t TA. Unfortunately the original post got taken down on the main aita sub but is still up on the other. Still posting the update on both though.
Some of yā€™all had some stuff to say about me saying I need help communicating because I shouldnā€™t have walked out. Have your opinions, but never let someone scream at you and just sit there and take it. Im realizing thats emotional abuse.
About why I never pushed to have a plus one. When the wedding planning was starting, Joe and I had not met. By the time we met and made things official, the wedding planning was finalized. I never hid the wedding from Joe or the fact it was very small. Someone said ā€œmost normal peopleā€ plan on bringing their s/o to a wedding. Maybe thats true. But never automatically assume that since your s/o is invited to something, youā€™ll be going too.
The wedding was heavily pre-planned because again, itā€™s a destination wedding. Anne is originally from France and primary reason why itā€™s a destination wedding.
I talked to Anne about this shortly after posting and she agreed that Iā€™m not TA. She said if the roles were reversed, sheā€™d never expect her so of less than a year be invited to an important event.
So, on Friday, I texted Joe asking to meet up Saturday morning to have a discussion about everything.
This morning he tried to get us to meet at my place, but instead, I got him to agree to meet at a local cafe. A lot of you brought up how he tried to grab me and thatā€™s a big sign that he could get more physical in the future. I didnā€™t want anything to be left to chance.
He got there early and tried to hug me, which I didnā€™t allow. I got the ick at the thought of him hugging me.
We did a bit of small talk but got pretty much to the point once we sat down.
He did apologize for blowing up but in the same breath said I shouldnā€™t have left. I countered that he shouldnā€™t have tried to physically stop me from leaving, twice. He said what else was he supposed to do. That set the tone for the whole conversation.
He went on to say that me just walking away was a ā€œclear indication that I didnā€™t respect himā€. I then pointed out that he was not letting me explain why he wasnā€™t invited.
This is when we started talking in circles. I told him how the wedding was being planned long before we met. How by the time we mutually agreed to be exclusive, they had everything finalized, especially the guest list. He said I shouldā€™ve asked for Anne to change it anyway. I asked him if I ever gave him the impression heā€™d be attending. He was silent for a while and then admitted he just assumed that since he was now my boyfriend, I would have told Anne to invite me. I told him then wouldnā€™t I have said something if he was invited in the past three months?
I realized that we werenā€™t getting anywhere. I told him I wanted to break up. To paraphrase, I said something along the lines of.
ā€œI understand you were hurt that I didnā€™t invite you. I am sorry that we didnā€™t have a clearer conversation. I do wish that we could have had a calmer conversation. However, I donā€™t feel safe in this relationship because of how you reacted. I donā€™t think this relationship is good for either of us if you feel betrayed and I feel unsafe.ā€
He didnā€™t take that well.
Joeā€™s response was if we broke up, I wasnā€™t getting my stuff back. I told him I didnā€™t care. Because honestly? If he wants to keep some of my underwear and used toothbrush, okay.
I then asked him to not have his friends text me too. He then went from pleading to have another chance to accusing me of never wanting him. I just stood up, told him I wished him the best, and left.
Ended up going for a two hour run when I got home because I still felt stressed. Blocked his number, his friends, blocked his instagram, deleted the pictures of us on my feed. Changed my Facebook status to single. Had a cry and have been watching Netflix since.
Something I learned from this your first fight with your partner tells you everything about them. Our first fight told me Joe was explosive. Maybe if he hadnā€™t blown up, we would still be together. Not gonna dwell on it though. I know itā€™s good I got out while you can because as a lot of you pointed out, the fact he kept trying to overpower me twice says a lot.
Iā€™m honestly glad I broke it off. As some of you said, it took him six months to show his true colors. Canā€™t imagine if he did come and then a year later, I find out heā€™s like this and have to look at wedding photos with a guy who is fine blowing up.
Iā€™m going to stay single for awhile now. I have a wedding to look forward to. My focus is on supporting Anne and making sure she has the best wedding ever. I may update when the wedding happens to let you guys know how it goes and if Joe tried anything else.
Thank you again to everyone for their opinions.

In your response, consider the following:
  1. Character and World Building:
    • Describe the protagonist's background, their assigned role, and their initial perception of the oppressive world they inhabit.
    • Develop the hidden underground community, including its purpose, structure, and the means through which it safeguards personal stories.

    • Outline the protagonist's journey of discovery, including their initial skepticism, the influential encounters they have within the underground community, and the personal sacrifices they make to preserve their identity.
    • Explore the challenges and conflicts faced by the protagonist, both externally (e.g., encounters with government authorities) and internally (e.g., the struggle to confront their identity).
  3. Deep Introspection:
    • Prompt the protagonist to reflect deeply on the uncomfortable subjects that the government's erasure of personal narratives seeks to suppress. These could include topics such as individuality, memory, trauma, and the power of storytelling as a tool for empathy and resistance.
    • Encourage the protagonist to evolve their thoughts and perceptions throughout the narrative, considering the consequences of silence and the potential for personal growth through self-expression and sharing.
  4. Requirements for Responses:
    • Conduct research to explore real-world examples of societies that suppress personal narratives or attempt to erase collective memory.

The survivors are forced to live in isolated communities, each with its own set of strict rules and customs. Write a short story or reflective essay exploring the life of a character who questions the existing order and embarks on a journey to unite these fragmented communities. Consider the role of unity, diversity, and collaboration in rebuilding a shattered world.
  6. Prompt: Set in a future where advanced AI technology has permeated every aspect of society, write a story or reflective essay following a protagonist who begins to question the boundaries between human and machine. Delve into the ethical implications of human-AI relationships, the erosion of human emotions, and the potential consequences of blurring the line between artificial and genuine experiences.
  7. Prompt: Imagine a world where climate change and environmental degradation have irreversibly altered the planet. Write a story or reflective essay from the perspective of a character who is part of a group striving to restore balance and heal the damaged Earth. Explore the connections between personal responsibility, collective action, and the intersections of social and environmental justice.
  8. Prompt: Transport yourself to a society where strict social hierarchies are based on a person's genetic makeup. Write a short story or reflective essay following a character who challenges this system and advocates for equality and inclusivity. Examine the role of genetic determinism, discrimination, and the power of individual agency in reshaping social structures.
  9. Prompt: Imagine a world where art and creativity are considered illegal, seen as tools of subversion and chaos. 2024.05.19 05:59 Definition_Novel Antanas Bimba Jr.

2024.05.19 05:59 fatiguepaintbrush Asking for Neofriends publicly with your UN exposed may be a future security risk under the new "sensitive account" verification policy, especially if you are returning to a pre-2013 account.

I have more to share about my larger concerns with how things are currently operating with Neopets Support and TNT, and this will be part of another post I make. However, I decided this was important enough to share now as its own thread and get everyone's thoughts.
I see a lot of returning players asking publicly for Neofriends, both here and on the Neoboards. On the Neoboards, your UN is visible anyway. On such posts, kind players will reply (UNs exposed, more often than not) that they have sent you a NF request, would be happy to accept yours, etc. The problem is, this can hand cheaters a large list of Neofriends that can be stored and used against the player in the future.
How? Well, providing a list of Neofriends is sometimes used as a test for the "final attempt" in verifying original account ownership to Neopets Support under Account Access Appeals, particularly in the event that the ticket-maker lacks access to the original account creation email.
What's stopping a cheater from gathering a list of Neofriends you solicited in public, then in 6 months contacting Support to claim they have 1.) recently been compromised, 2.) are on a new device, and 3.) has their old list of Neofriends as proof? Yes, this would be a very weak claim on newer accounts where the rightful owner still has OG email access. However, a cheater's case becomes much stronger with a NF list if the targeted account was made pre-2013, where the breach information (birthday, original email, at least one old password, IP, etc.) remains available today and can be used to pad a false ticket.
Support has proven that it is now incredibly limited in the scope of evidence they can use to return and verify accounts, likely due to lack of staff and time. They cannot be reliably asked to interpret IP activity, login sessions, screenshots, IDs, detailed billing information, and other advanced onsite context that rightful account owners can provide. Support can basically only operate when they are shown birthdays, OG email, and OG email access. In emergency/appeal cases, they will accept NC transactions/trades and a list of Neofriends, and we cannot know whether Support can see or care about how recently said Neofriends were added.
As the state of Support stands, I don't think pooling Neofriends should be a part of your public life on or off-Neopets, especially if your UN is exposed. Make the post, but don't put your UN in it. I also don't think players should immediately be sharing every new NC item they buy on Reddit when their UN is exposed. If someone wants to build a case against your account, don't provide them a bevy of information on your Reddit. I don't want to scare people, I just want to help better this community in light of losing two accounts in the last month. Thanks for listening.

2024.05.19 05:57 lbeckizgoat To the Free People of r/teenagers

A little under an hour ago, I made a post encouraging the sub members to democratically enact sanctions against a user for reasons we won't quite delve into, but were very much legit and very much a threat to our fellow sub members, whom we all hold dear.
The honorable sub-dwellers responded accordingly, standing entirely in agreement, and casting their ballots so that more may see this call to action. The mods, upon feasting their hungry eyes upon this noble act of democracy, saw fit to strike down this proposal, citing rule #1. Under any other circumstance, I would see this as a just, and valid decision, but the opposing redditor's comments, which provoked the entire conflict, WERE NOT removed under THEIR respective broken rules, and remain on air as I write this post.
Teenagers of Reddit, we are not oblidged to stay idol during acts of tyranny. It is our right, it is our responsibility, as the posterity upon which the future of the world lies, to protest against these unjust authorities whenever we see fit. Hence, I urge you, dear comrades, to bear witness to this incident, and plead this case against these so-called moderators of teenagers, so that our rights and respective powers as the mighty populace of this sub, 3 million strong, may not permit the invalidation of our opinion to ever again lay foot in this sub where we reside! šŸ’„āœŠšŸ½šŸ’„

2024.05.19 05:56 halospiritOG [Online][Monday 5pm PDT][PF1e][VTT] Looking for 1 player for a every other week campaign

Disclaimer: I am not the DM but a player recruiting on the DM's behalf and with their express permission.
This campaign, called Jade Chronicles, takes place in the continent of Durra, a land that has spent millennia covered in a deadly Miasma, long enough for most histories to be lost and rewritten anew a mix the struggle to survive, Over time, those living there have learn to adapt, using a combination of jade and myrrh to ward villages, towns and cities from the Miasma and having little interest to leave the safety and relative normality of settlements. Despite( or due to) a reluctance to leave the safety of settlements, trade and commerce, both legal and illegal, is in great demand. This has led to the advent of individuals known as Wanderers, adventurers with a willingness, or lack of alternatives, to travel through the Miasma in caravans, a fact that has them looked down upon by townsfolk, who assume the worst of most Wanderers and treat them as a tolerated part of life in Durra. You'll be playing as a Wanderer, traveling the roads for any variety of reasons.
Jade Chronicles is a homebrew campaign taking place in an homebrew version of Golarion featuring a number of house rules, official optional systems and setting relevant changes. The most relevant are:
A wiki containing all house rules, necessary lore, changes and explanations for some decisions can be found on this wiki https://jadechronicles.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page .
The campaign is set to run on Mondays in the evenings at 5 pm PDT. We plan to meet on the May 20nd to have Session 3, we'll be doing a non-cannon dungeon crawl to give everyone a chance to get to know each other and to playtest the rules we'll be playing by before we start the proper campaign. The intended group size is 5, so currently we have 4 players. Though subject to change, we currently have a fighter, oracle, wizard and inquisitor.
Anyone interested or having questions, message me here on reddit, direct message or chat is fine. I'm typically available in the evenings so please be patient if I don't reply immediate.

2024.05.19 05:55 Shortugae Having a hard time finding new series to read. Character driven books similar to Brandon Sanderson?

I have an exceptionally difficult time really getting into books (as well as movies and video games). Thereā€™s lots of books i can read and be like ā€œthat was fineā€ but itā€™s hard to find a book or series where Iā€™m like, excited to read it every day. I tend to go back and re-read the same stuff over and over again because there are books Iā€™ve found that really resonate with me, and itā€™s easier to read those over and over again rather than go through the effort of finding something new and going through the slog of suffering through it until it grows on me enough that I feel invested. I think Iā€™m extremely picky about what I do and donā€™t like, but I have no idea how to articulate what that is. Despite my difficulties in finding new stuff to read, I would really like to read a lot more, but Iā€™m not sure where to start.
I think the best way I can explain what Iā€™m looking for is by giving examples of what I like and donā€™t like. What I like:
Brandon Sanderson is easily my favourite author because (aside from his prose which I know is generally not great) he manages to have this complex high fantasy that feels grounded and engaging because of the way the characters are written. His stories are fundamentally about interesting and relatable characters existing within worlds that are so much bigger than them.
Since starting them at the age of 7 I think Iā€™ve read the Harry Potter books in their entirety like 15 times. Theyā€™re awesome. I donā€™t think I need to explain why I like them. They probably strike some of the same balances that Brandon Sanderson hits as I explained above.
I read a lot of YA stuff growing up. The Percy Jackson books and the Eragon series are probably the main books from my youth that I still read and find compelling, though Iā€™m not necessarily looking for stuff similar to them. The writing is really juvenile in both examples. Nostalgia is probably an element of my enjoyment, though I think I do find the characters in those books pretty compelling. The other ā€œbigā€ YA stuff I read when I was younger Iā€™m really NOT a fan of (Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent (holy shit I hate that series so much)). I think I really hate books that are like, edgy and cool for the sake of being edgy and cool (which is probably most YA).
For stuff Iā€™ve tried to get into but couldnā€™t, or even books I did read and enjoy but am not really looking for more of:
I read Dune. Took me a couple of tries but eventually managed to finish it and overall I enjoyed it. Definitely NOT looking for more books like it. (both because Frank Herbert writes really weird, and also because it sort of feels like the opposite of Brandon Sanderson, where the characters exist within this big cool world, except theyā€™re not even remotely relatable or compelling).
I know many people will recommend I read Wheel of Time after saying I like Brandon Sanderson. Iā€™ll probably give it another try in the future, but on my first attempt I just could NOT get into it at all. I donā€™t know what was wrong with it or me. The series is incredibly long (which is totally fine with me), but I hear it fluctuates quite a bit in terms of quality/engagement, which Iā€™m not a fan of.
I read Enders Game and actually really enjoyed it, but Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s quite what Iā€™m looking for.
I swear Iā€™m gonna finish it one day, but holy moly Iā€™m really struggling to get into Lord of the Rings.
I read most of the Witcher books and wasnā€™t really a fan, but I love the world and vibe of the Witcher.
This is very different, but I recently read fifteen dogs by Andre Alexis, at the behest of a friend. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Iā€™m not opposed to books that have more complexity in their themes/messages.
I hope thatā€™s some help. Iā€™m looking for books that I canā€™t put down because Iā€™m just so invested in them. I think the characters, including their design and how theyā€™re written is a big element of my enjoyment. I enjoy fantasy and cool world building, but thatā€™s not necessarily a rule, especially since a lot of fantasy feels extremely derivative which I donā€™t like. The books donā€™t have to be fantasy at all, it could be (some form of) sci-fi or even realism (or whatever youā€™d call it).

2024.05.19 05:51 Appropriate_Door_547 Tough love time: You lose the right to be picky about where you work when you lost your last job.

Warning: this is tough love and is gonna come across as harsh. Really harsh. But I say it from a place of love and not wanting to see you all be unemployed for many years holding out for something that will never come.
I see so many posts on Reddit anymore about people who are unemployed over a year, after 1000+ applications, and just canā€™t get a job. The common denominator is many of these people have non-negotiables like remote work or a certain salary level.
Tough love time: if you are unemployed, you donā€™t get to have non-negotiables or be choosy about where you work. Non-negotiables are for people with leverage. Seems many people on here have forgotten an incredibly important business rule: beggars canā€™t be choosers. Unfortunately, hiring decisions are made mostly based on optics & perception, and fair or not, the perception of an unemployed candidate is that of ā€œdamaged goods.ā€ It is assumed there is a reason you are not employed. Nobody said this is fair, just, or right, but itā€™s just the way it is. Very few employers are going to take that risk by hiring you, when every single job has 1000+ applicants, many of which are already employed.
So how do you break the cycle and rebuild your credibility and reputation as a professional? How do you regain the trust of the working world? Simple: you need to be willing to take the jobs nobody else wants.
This almost 100% means going to an office 5 days a week. Perhaps more. You will probably even have to take a pay cut, maybe as high as 20-50%. You might even have to take a step back in title, or pivot to a different field entirely. Construction is one that is known to give people second chances, but youā€™ll have to work harder than youā€™ve ever worked in your life.
It seems like the only places hiring new employees are weird/toxic startups and small businesses, so stop focusing on household ā€œname brandā€ employers. Learn to love working for toxic small businesses with omnipresent owners. Learn to be okay with micromanagers. Cushy corporate jobs are gone forever if you donā€™t already have one.
Your career progression doesnā€™t mean much of anything at this point. You need to make money right now even if it means hindering your future career prospects. Think of it like incurring ā€œcareer debt.ā€
Before you downvote, I took my own advice. I was flying high in a cushy F500 job. When that all came crashing down, I committed to myself that I would take the very first offer, no matter how bad it was. And I did. And Iā€™ve been miserable ever since. But after losing my job, I learned my place QUICKLY. You learn very fast how much American society values the unemployed (hint: not very much). I took a long look in the mirror and realized I was worth a lot less than I was a month prior, and I settled. But because I did this, I was employed again within the month. Companies similar to the one I previously worked for wonā€™t take me seriously anymore, and I canā€™t leave anyways (lest I be branded a job hopper), but I was realistic and started earning a paycheck again.
Donā€™t listen to those telling you ā€œdonā€™t settle.ā€ That will likely be the very thing you need to do. Lose the entitlement. I realize this may come across as harsh, but stop holding out for a unicorn and really be realistic with yourself here. This will be the key to rejoining the workforce.
