2024.05.18 20:41 nik_stojanovski How I gained 1,100 subscribers in 14 days without spending a dime, and a 53% open rate

Hi everyone – I’ve recently been building a weekly business newsletter called Pulse of Progress and got my first 1,100 subscribers in just 14 days!
The best part? I used zero paid ads. All of my subs were completely free!
Here’s how I did it.
But first, let me provide some context…
For the last 6 months, I’ve been testing out different side hustle / business ideas. I have a running list of ideas that I test on forums like Reddit and Indie Hacker to get a pulse on what the public thinks. In my opinion, this is one of the best ways to validate an idea before investing any money or serious time into it. If it gets some traction or interest in the first few days, you know you have something. If not, its time to move on.
I start by generating some interest on social platforms and freelance websites (side note – I’ve come up with a method that helps me do this and get tangible results. So, if this is something you want to learn more about, let me know. I’ll make a post around this too). It’s an approach I’ve developed and tested over the last year with other ideas, so I just do the same with all other ideas I want to test / validate in the future. I want to see results fast, not waste time on non-value add activities.
Here are some of the business ideas I’ve tested:
1. Newsletter sponsorship marketplace – created a platform connecting newsletter businesses with potential advertisers. The marketplace allows the businesses to post their content and advertisers to find and book ad slots
2. AI based email marketing optimization tool – developed an AI tool that analyzes email marketing campaigns and provides optimization suggestions to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions
3. Remote language exchange facilitation – pair individuals looking to learn each other’s languages and facilitate their language exchange sessions online
I shut all of these down. I couldn’t get the momentum I wanted or hoped for to consider them a success. The AI based email marketing optimization tool went viral on Hacker News and Indie Hacker, but it was because I was able to generate some hype around it for a short period of time. But the hype faded fast…real fast. I had about 100 people sign up for the service. As for my other businesses, I had a few signups here and there but nothing worth keeping the business alive and investing more of my time into it.
Something I want to call out at this point: all of the businesses I tried starting in the past were bootstrapped. I never used money I made from the sale of my other businesses. I sold one business (a virtual event planning business that took off during the pandemic. We organized and managed virtual events, think webinars / workshops / conferences, for specific interest groups and professional communities). I never touched the proceeds from that sale to start the company I currently run. The reason I bring this up is because I think your business, regardless of what it is, needs to stand on its own. If it couldn’t, I knew it was time to move on. I didn’t want to give myself a false sense of hope that it would work by continuously throwing money at it.
The reason I started a business newsletter…
A newsletter was perfect. It was easy to start and required no money to get it up and running. The purpose behind the newsletter was centered around the idea of creating something that informed and educated people but was entertaining to read. Reading in general, news or not, can sometimes feel like a chore (at least for me). This was the opposite. This was something you genuinely looked forward to reading, the things that influence your world and the decisions you make on a daily basis.
The biggest issue I had with everything else out there was that the content was around things I didn’t care about. Not to mention it put me to sleep half the time. And that’s when it hit me – create a platform that genuinely helped people stay ahead in this information heavy world. Filter out the nonsense, deliver on high-value content.
The test phase…
I spent a couple hours looking up any Facebook group that was related to starting side hustles, escaping the 9-5 grind, online businesses etc. Once I came up with a small list of about 8-10 groups, I spent the next few days posting about the newsletter. One caveat for me when looking for which groups to post in: they needed to have more than 50K users. I wanted my posts to have some reach and didn’t want to waste my time in groups that were smaller and were barely active. I also designed some GIFs (I drew inspiration from the early Milk Road days when they posted funny GIFs / memes about their newsletter all over social media) but that didn’t work. Like at all. So, I shifted gears.
The first day, I posted about the newsletter in 8 different groups and got about 45 subscribers the next day. Over the next two weeks, I spent a couple of hours each day making similar posts within these groups and tried finding other groups I can post in. This proved to be successful. Making consistent posts got people engaged and subscribing to the newsletter. It was starting to gain some steam. And this is what lead to my first 1,100 subscribers in the first 14 days.
Why this worked…
1. Value creation: The best ideas appeal to what people want, and more importantly, need. It helps solve a problem. And in this case, people want high quality content that helps them make informed decisions, educates them along the way and is a joy to read.
2. Helps identify trends before they happen: Understanding emerging trends and market dynamics is crucial for staying ahead. This knowledge allows people to adapt quickly, innovate effectively, and capitalize on new market opportunities.
3. Sparks innovation and creativity: Exposure to different perspectives and new information sparks innovation and creative thinking. Staying informed about global trends, tech advancements, and industry breakthroughs inspires new ideas and approaches.
Things to keep in mind…
What I’ve realized is that you want your ideas to generate a “natural pull” from the world. It shouldn’t be something you “push” onto people. Trying to convince people they need something that doesn’t help improve their lives or satisfy a need is a waste of time. Listen to what people want. And build from there.
I’ve had multiple profitable businesses and the common theme between them all is that they cost me less than $100 to start and get product / market fit. I won’t lie, sometimes I let my ego get in the way when I put an idea out there and it got rejected. And trust me when I tell you, that’s happened more often than I’d like to admit. I spent way too much time and money putting something together even when I knew it wasn’t worth pursuing.
How does that saying go…the one about Thomas Edison and his attempt at building the first light bulb after trying and failing 1000 times. “I haven’t failed. I just found 1000 different ways how not to build a lightbulb.” And that’s just it…who cares if the idea didn’t work. Hate to break it to you, but most will. Instead, focus on the skills you’ve picked up and learned along the way while building this business and apply it to the next.
Anyways, I hope this post helps at least one person grow their business, subs count, social media presence. Now that I’ve grown my audience to over 10K subscribers organically, I’m looking into using paid ads to grow even more from here. The problem is I have no idea how to do that! So, if anyone has any tips or tricks, I’d love to hear them.
Good luck my friends.

2024.05.18 20:39 elringo_ Hard Rock Hotel Follow Up

Hard Rock Hotel Follow Up
Normally I don't do follow up posts when it comes to these things but a lot of information has since come out in regards to the Hard Rock Hotel incident. Before I continue, I would like to preface that a lot of articles within recent have been getting taken down so I'm doing my best to archive what I can from these sites as a result.
Of all the sites to be taken down, the REHAB performers list was taken down with the last couple of days. On the list itself, it included several notable names like Kendrick, Diddy & J Cole.
Looks like It was freshly removed... - https://lasvegasweekly.com/nightlife/2014/ma05/rehab-expand-two-days-hard-rock-talent-lineup/
However, I kept a screenshot of the list. This can also be found on Wayback Machine:
Diddy - Sunday, May 25 - Memorial Day Weekend
With the recent camera footage of Diddy abusing Cassie that was publicized Yesterday, it's safe to say we can officially roll out Diddy as abusive & being at the hotel at the time of the reported Kendrick Article.
Alamy Photo @ REHAB 1
Alamy Photo @ REHAB 2
Alamy Photo @ REHAB 3
Another thing I noticed was a screenshot of a website article publicized on TwitteX that removes the abuse victim being Whitney completely. It reported that it was a girl working for a legal Nevada Brothel named "The Love Ranch." This brothel shut down August 2018.
The Love Ranch - https://www.rhymeswithsnitch.com/2014/09/did-kendrick-lamar-beat-up-hooker.html#more
Now this is purely just based off my assessment of Kendrick's character just from being a fan of his music (& interviews) but he really does not strike me as the person to go to a brothel. Diddy, however, has a notable history with sex workers with now recent ties for abuse. Of course these things lingered already because of his existing lawsuit. All I'm saying is it looks very suspicious the links stop working when surveillance videos start being aired.
It also gives more information on the interview video as it comes from an entire livestream. The interview would've started at 57:10.
Now third and final addition starts off with the question: So, where was Kendrick on Memorial Day? It's confirmed that he was still in Las Vegas at the time BUT performing at the Haze Nightclub. With both photos & video to corroborate this.
Haze Night Club 1
Haze Night Club 2
Haze Nightclub Video Article about Performance
Haze Nightclub is also located inside of the Aria Hotel which Kendrick previously stayed at on May 3rd. No bruises were seen on his hands either.
I decided to look into May 3 as well out of curiosity and found a picture of Whitney & Kendrick from that night.
May 3rd - VIP Pre Fight
It's also important to note all articles about the alleged abuse were published in September 2014 and NOT May. Not a single article. Pretty much only after the Interview / Livestream appeared on the internet.
My theory is Diddy had seven rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel, ended up getting a sex worker from The Love Ranch after his performance at REHAB, some situation that took place where he then ended up fleeing. It's really hard for this to not have been a bigger situation considering she was found in one of the seven rooms. That is... unless she was threatened to drop charges or paid off. The Kendrick name was thrown around as a rumor just to get the heat off. Because why was there never anything that came to fruition? A court case? Security footage of the incident? Las Vegas has a shit ton of surveillance (I know, I've been there personally). Hell, even NOW someone coming out? The security guard in the video even mentioned she never personally saw Kendrick and only heard from someone some time later. The only thing she personally saw was an entourage.
I would suggest looking into the court cases of P. Diddy & Kendrick just to see how much is tied to their name. I'm not entirely sure how to go about that myself but maybe there's something there to look into as well.

Seek out properties for sale nearby that correspond to your criteria, encompassing the quantity of land, the type of property, and the location. Websites like Zillow, Realtor.com, and Trulia are exceptional resources for discovering homes with land for sale in your vicinity.Furthermore to online listings, contemplate collaborating with a local real estate agent who holds expertise in properties featuring land. An informed agent can furnish valuable insights into the market, assist you in identifying potential properties, and guide you through the purchasing process. While researching the local market, consider the subsequent aspects:• Property Prices: What is the average cost of homes with land in your desired locality? • Property Taxes: What are the property tax rates in the area, and how might these affect your budget? • Zoning Laws: Are there any limitations on how the land can be utilized, such as agricultural zoning or conservation easements? • Local Amenities: What amenities are accessible in the area, such as schools, shopping, and recreational facilities?By meticulously investigating the local market, you can amass a better understanding of the available choices and make an informed decision when procuring a house with land.Getting Pre-Approved for a MortgageBefore you commence shopping for a house with land, it's essential to obtain pre-approval for a mortgage. Your real estate agent can aid you in identifying potential residences that match your criteria and scheduling showings so you can tour the properties in person. While searching for the right property with land, contemplate the subsequent aspects:• Location: Is the property in a sought-after area? What amenities are nearby, and what is the overall quality of life in the neighborhood? • Land Size: Does the property possess the quantity of land you desire, and is the land suitable for your intended use? • Property Features: What is the condition of the home and any outbuildings on the property? Are there any unique features or amenities that make the property stand out? • Zoning and Restrictions: Are there any zoning laws or restrictions that may impact how you can utilize the land? While touring potential properties, take note of any features or issues that catch your attention. Pay attention to the condition of the home, the quality of the land, and any potential maintenance or improvement needs. Retain an open mind and be patient as you hunt for the right property, as discovering the perfect home with land may take time.Negotiating the Purchase AgreementOnce you have pinpointed a property with land that you are interested in acquiring, the next step is to negotiate a purchase agreement with the seller. Your real estate agent can render valuable assistance in this process, aiding you in determining a fair offer price, incorporating any contingencies, and bargaining with the seller on your behalf. While negotiating the purchase agreement for a house with land, contemplate the subsequent aspects:• Offer Price: What is a fair price to offer for the property, based on the local market and the condition of the home and land? • Contingencies: Are there any contingencies you would like to include in the purchase agreement, such as a home inspection or appraisal? • Closing Date: When would you like to close on the property, and do you need to consider any specific timing aspects?Your property specialist can assist you in drafting and submitting the purchase agreement to the seller's representative. If the seller agrees to your proposal, the purchase agreement becomes a legally binding contract, outlining the terms and conditions of the sale.Conducting Thorough InvestigationOnce the purchase agreement is accepted, it's time to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the property. A thorough investigation involves a detailed inspection of the home and land, reviewing relevant documents, and ensuring that there are no issues that would impact your decision to purchase the property. As part of the investigation process, consider the following actions:• Home Examination: Enlist a certified home examiner to conduct a thorough inspection of the property, including the home and any additional structures. The examiner will identify any potential issues with the property, such as structural deficiencies, plumbing problems, or electrical issues. • Land Mapping: Consider hiring a surveyor to perform a survey of the property and verify the boundaries and acreage of the land. This will ensure that the property lines are accurate, and you are informed of any trespasses or easements. • Title Investigation: Initiate a title investigation to ensure the property has a clear title and that there are no pending liens or other issues that could affect the sale. • Zoning and Permits: Research local zoning regulations and permits to ensure the property can be utilized for your intended purposes and that there are no outstanding infractions or issues.By conducting a thorough investigation of the property, you can identify any potential issues that may influence your decision to proceed with the purchase. If any issues are identified, your property specialist can assist you in negotiating with the seller to address them or potentially recalibrate the terms of the purchase agreement.Managing the Closing ProcedureOnce you have completed the investigation of the property and are content with the results, it's time to manage the closing procedure. The closing procedure involves concluding the sale of the property, signing the necessary legal documents, and transferring ownership from the seller to you, the buyer. The closing procedure typically includes the following steps:• Finalizing Financing: Provide any required documentation to your lender to finalize the mortgage approval process and secure the necessary financing for the purchase. • Reviewing Closing Papers: Collaborate with your property specialist and legal counsel to review all closing documents, including the settlement statement, purchase agreement, and any other legal documents related to the sale. • Completing Final Inspections: Undertake a final walk-through of the property to ensure that any repairs or agreed-upon improvements have been completed to your satisfaction. • Signing Documents: Attend the closing appointment and sign all necessary legal documents, including the mortgage loan documents and the deed of trust. • Transferring Ownership: Once all documents are signed and any required payments have been made, the property ownership will be transferred from the seller to you, and you will receive the keys to your new home with land.Following the completion of the closing procedure, the property is officially yours, and you can initiate the process of moving in and personalizing the property as you desire.Property Ownership with LandCongratulations! You have successfully acquired a residence with land near you. Now that the purchasing process is finalized, you can commence enjoying your new property and customizing it to your preferences. Whether you intend to start a garden, raise livestock, or simply relish the additional space, owning a home with land presents numerous opportunities for enjoyment and satisfaction. As a property owner, it's crucial to stay informed about ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the property. Regular maintenance of the home and land, including mowing, landscaping, and repairs, will help ensure that the property retains its value and remains a source of pride and enjoyment for years to come.If you have any inquiries or concerns about owning a property with land, consider contacting local resources, such as gardening clubs, agricultural extension services, or land management organizations. I run [[Sidar, Jabari of Zhalfir]]
(PRECON): https://www.moxfield.com/decks/xRhGvgZS5kS4MrShfJ1VpQ
I am looking for card upgrades. I’ve already upgraded mine some, but more upgrades would be appreciated! I’m also looking for cards that would make my commander unblockable, since that’s definitely a problem in this deck.
Any and all recommendations are welcome. Like I said, likely there will be recommendations that I already have in there which is totally fine since I don’t have a decklist for what my deck is currently. Here’s a list of some cards I have in mind already, however: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/2_aAcVQMPkC6h5pAhnr9NQ

Someone sent me a $300 necklace and I have no idea who.
I recently received a package in the mail addressed to me. I was expecting some packages but it definitely wasn’t this. I went to their website to see how much it was and I couldn’t believe the $289 price tag. Obviously I panicked and thought “holy shit I drunk purchased this” but no record from my bank and no credit cards have been opened. Also, this is not even remotely close to my style (or lack thereof) and I definitely wouldn’t spend nearly $300 on jewelry for myself. Only accessories I wear is a watch and glasses. I can’t imagine any of my friends would send me something like this or lie to me when asked, no SO, no mistress, and no clue what’s going on. Tf do I do?
I’ll post what I received, the website listing, and a picture of it on my dog for shits.

2024.05.18 20:10 vegetablecompound Is scouting a crapshoot? A preliminary investigation

Those of us who follow the Jays know that the club doesn't have a lot in the farm system at present. A question that arises: does Atkins and/or his scouting director deserve blame for this, or is this random chance?
For some time, I've believed that scouting is random chance. But I had some time this long weekend, so I set out to try to gather data. Here's what I did:
This is an imperfect solution. For one thing, there will be more 10+ WAR players in the earlier drafts than in the later drafts. But it's a start; here's what I found.
First off, the number of players with 10+ WAR per draft year, drafted in the first five rounds:
When you consider that over 150 players are drafted every year in the first five rounds of the draft, the totals here aren't very large. (They also show that international scouting and development are very important.) In the.earlier draft years, fewer than one in seven drafted players have had a decent career. In the 2017 draft year, only one player drafted in the early rounds has had a noticeable career: step right up, Daulton Varsho!
Inspection of the data also indicates that the first five picks in each draft have a slightly better than 50% chance of having a good career.
When I sorted the above numbers by team, nobody really stood out as being better than the rest (listed in groups of three to keep this article from being longer than it already is):
From this, it might be possible to conclude that the Astros, Cards, and A's (hello there, Billy Beane) might be a bit better at scouting than other teams, and that the Reds and Royals might be worse. But these numbers might well be within the realm of chance (I'm not a statistician, so I can't crunch them to find out). That's certainly what I believe.
Comments and feedback welcome - feel free to point me at more detailed studies of this issue if you know of them.

2024.05.18 20:08 TIMSANSFW Calling out the Bluetooth_speakers conspiracy

Longtime lurker - here always checking the advancements of Bluetooth speaker tech.
One thing I've noticed over the years is the user u/obvious-bird-3588 posting hundreds, if not, thousands of times to his Ranking Bluetooth Speakers list
Which, is fine. Except...
His list is a gateway to his website which is just an affiliate link mine.
Go check their comment history - literally thousands of posts linking to his website.
To add to that, I think their rankings kind of suck
First, they only have proof of owning a few of these speakers. How the heck can you make a definitive list of 300+ speakers and own less than a dozen types??
They even created their own subreddit to act as a link farm to their website, again, to cash in on those $$ juicy Amazon commissions
Notice how their links ONLY go to Amazon, and not the manufacturers website?
Clearly, as a web developer and affiliate marketer myself, I very evidently see the obvious motivation for placing thousands of links. NONE of their info is on Reddit, they make you go to their website and click their links so they make $$ affiliate revenue.
At least make your rankings in plaintext on Reddit for everyone to see for free and no reward behind it...
Even then, as a massive audiophile with over a hundred speakers owned in the last decade, I strongly disagree with MANY of these positions and rankings.
How the HECK can someone claim to be the master of all the speakers, when they don't even own a fraction of what they speak of, and use YouTube comparisons as reference?
Honestly, it's kind of genius - use public info from Youtube, Rtings, and other top lists, compile it to a website, spread your links across thousands of posts, and earn $$ thousands per month. I wonder if they'll disclose their affiliate relationship & earnings to us.. I think some affiliate linking is fine for spending a long time compiling a free public list, but this is just insane.
Anyways, just wanted to chime in and ping the mod u/SeaJelly17 to investigate this a little bit. I see the $$ cash flow incentive of the u/obvious-bird-3588 postings, and think affiliate linking to this degree is egregious.

  • Each video marketed the app as "Audible for Ao3". Unlike Audible, which uses voice actors and gains full rights and permission from authors, Lore.fm used AI generated voices (created with voice actors who consented to their voices being used for AI) and did not ask for any permission.
  • The way the app was intended to work according to the Apple Store was that users could add any link they wanted and the app would generate an audiobook with the voice they selected. This data would be stored both locally and on Lore.fm's servers.
  • On TikTok, unravel.me.now was saying that eventually the app would have even more capabilities. Eventually the app developers wanted a "Spotify Wrapped" experience. They wanted a top charts list with most listened to fics on the platform.
  • In Lore.fm's TOS it explicitly bans using the app to circulate and disseminate various things like scams, solicitations, etc. This implies the app was always intended NOT to be only a personal library.
  • May 16 2024 officially launches in the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. It uses Archive of Our Own's urls in it's demo pictures. According to the opening paragraphs of the TOS there was no data scraping for AI learning nor was there any third party selling of data. According to Privacy Policy they work with third-party partners and services to obtain data about their users.
  • May 16 2024 The Privacy Policy on lore.fm confirmed that despite conflicting comments by unravel.me.now on TikTok, the app WOULD store a copy on the users device and on lore.fm's servers. Their policies stated that it was the users granting them permission, despite knowing for a fact their users would not be uploading material with a clear copyright in their name. "Information submitted to lore.fm will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. When you use the Software on your computing device, User Content you save will be stored locally on that device and synced with our servers. If you post or transfer any Information to or through our App, Software, and/or Services, you are agreeing to such Information, including Personal Data and User Content, being hosted and accessed in the United States."
  • May 16 2024 u/totallymandy posts a reddit thread titled "Audible for Ao3 :/" which brings attention to this app from people who do not use TikTok.
  • Redditors find one of the rare times unravel.me.now answers a question, confirming that lore.fm cannot access locked fanfiction (fanfiction on Archive of Our Own that has been set to be viewable only by people who are logged into an AO3 account). See screenshot section below.
  • This quickly spirals into multiple threads all over Ao3, Tumblr, and Twitter. There were posts on Tumblr prior to this one, but the post that ended up traveling wildly through Tumblr was posted by creativitycache on May 16th
  • May 16-17 Authors begin massively flooding into the [team@lore.fm](mailto:team@lore.fm) email inbox to Opt Out. The team is unprepared for this, and begins responding with wildly unprofessional and guilt tripping responses. Eventually as the flood continued the responses became standardized. Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3
  • May 17 It became clear the lore.fm team is monitoring both Tumblr and Reddit, as they are linking directly to reddit threads in their replies and are addressing Tumblr posts in response to private dms. rivkae-winters on Tumblr got some of the first replies showing they were actively reading threads on other websites. It was just as unprofessional as you'd expect.
  • May 16 Users became aware that previously the team that worked on lore.fm produced a story-generating AI app that has gotten terrible reviews. This deepens the distrust that data uploaded to Lore.fm will not be later used for furthering AI stories, despite the current TOS. Redditors, Tumblrites, and whatever Twitter users call themselves now all began to speculate just how the app was planning on running. Where were they getting the funds? Where were funds projected to come from in the future?
  • May 17 A TikTok is posted by unravel.me.now stating they are pausing release of Lore.fm. This TikTok does NOT state they are shutting down entirely, but that they are considering it and are opening a discussion. They continue to delete any critical comments on their TikToks. Other users pointed out that this TikTok contains language accusing any detractors of ableism, not mentioning the main reasons people are upset/not actually addressing the concerns people have, calling other screen readers poor products, and using auto-generated captions that were not edited and have multiple errors in them despite touting themselves as an accessibility company.
  • May 18 lore.fm is finally pulled from the app stores. The main website remains online, as does their TikTok account.

Problems With The App

  • Copyright laws are a nightmare, and I'm not touching the legalese breakdown here. Just in general, that. AO3 doesn't have an official app for deliberate reasons, due to the app store's policies.
  • Using AO3 as a content-generator for an app. If it were a screen reader, or one of the other various apps that read things in a pleasant voice for accessibility reasons, there would be no problem. But this was a separate app that did not link back to AO3 or allow its users to give AO3 writers any interaction/feedback. This app essentially billed itself as a way to package free fan work provided to AO3 as content it controlled.
  • Suspicion of intent. How were the developers going to recoup their costs? Why wasn't the data encrypted? Why were they marketing this as specifically for AO3 instead of a general accessibility tool? Why were they not addressing any concerns brought to them before or after launch? Why were they marketing this as a small personal project that implied it was a fan-created app, instead of putting their company name big and bold on it? What were their intentions regarding their other story AI app?
  • Opt Out/Consent Since this app was in a legal quagmire, clearly not designed primarily as an accessibility tool, and was hiding all criticism, authors did not feel comfortable with their work being used for this app. They were especially furious that they had to reach out to the lore.fm team and ask to be taken off- they had nothing to do with this project and yet were being told it was their responsibility to refuse instead of lore.fm's responsibility to ask. Authors were also upset on behalf of all the works marked Anonymous, Orphaned Worked, works where the Author's didn't have a way of even hearing about this app's existence, and deceased Authors who never could have predicted an app like this.
Let me know if I missed anything!

2024.05.18 19:58 etsucky snoopslimes may box review!

snoopslimes may box review!
excuse the mess in the background & my sorta dimly lit setup ahaaa. this is my first time reviewing slime! but i have been buying from snoopslimes for a while, so i figured i'd throw my thoughts out on this box.
when i ordered this box sometime mid-april, i didn't receive a confirmation email at all, but i did get charged on my card, so i ended up shooting support a message and they very quickly got back to me with the confirmation! everything was thankfully on track!
the box contains 3 slimes: slimey pop, snoop frank, and y2k glitch. it also comes with a spray bottle of activator - this is much appreciated, i'm not sure if it's dependent on type of order or just a change they made within recent months to go with the spray but it used to be just a packet of dry borax and like i was never as good at using that ahaa. luckily though, none of these slimes needed any activator upon arrival.
first up: slimey pop. this consisted of a red jelly-texture base, a vaguely ring pop shaped clay, and a green ring that has a little bump on the end that you can stick into the clay to pretend that it's a ring pop before you mix it in.
the scent is a strong artificial cherry - it's described as a "cherry slushie" scent but reminds me more of cherry medicine. at first i wasn't sure if i liked it, but i think i actually do. it makes me a little nostalgic, and i think that once it mellows out a tad it'll be at the perfect level. the scent being strong now just means it'll last longer!
the texture of the base itself is really nice, and i think it's probably one of my favorite textures i've touched so far. i'm a big candy fan and it makes me want to eat candy. since i liked the base so much, and the clay comes in its own slime container, i decided to split the base in half and only mix the clay in with half of it. the mixed slime of the second half was nice too, the color and texture reminded me of sour brite gummies, but i'm glad i decided to split the base up. now it's like having 2 slimes in one!
score for slimey pop: 8.5/10 😁
next - snoop frank. i heard lisa frank was pretty tough with guarding their copyrights, so i hope snoopslimes doesn't get in trouble for this?
anyways, this is like a dense and crunchy slime with pony beads, bingsu beads, star-shaped sequins, and some various other charms packed in a clear base.
i think it's unscented - weirdly, the website and info card included with the slimes don't list what scents these slimes are meant to have (except for the cherry one) and the only place i saw where this and y2k glitch's scents were listed were a random instagram promo post - but i think they got the description backwards, because the promo post says this slime is like rainbow sherbet scented or something while saying that y2k glitch is unscented but i think it's the other way around. i think it's odd that they don't list the scents on the website for these subscription boxes because they do for every individually sold slime.
i do kind of wish this slime was scented, too, and was kind of disappointed that it wasn't, but i do recognize that some people are sensitive to scents and not everyone likes every slime to have a scent, and that's okay.
anyway, this is my first experience with a crunchy slime like this and the first thing i noticed taking this out of its container was just how heavy and dense it was! no shortage of charms, and though some of the pony beads tried to escape, there wasn't really any fallout which surprised me.
while the slime wasn't sticky, this is not a beginner texture at all! the recommended way to play with this (according to the info card) is by stretching it slowly and then crunching it together to get bubble pops, and i agree that it is much more satisfactory that way. trying to play with it like any other slime was like, rippy and hurting my hands because of the poky edges on the star sequins. honestly, this slime could have done without the star sequins, but they look nice i guess.
i don't see myself playing with this slime that much just because of the extra effort and because it's unscented. but maybe every now and then, why not.
snoop frank score - 6/10.
lastly: y2k glitch. this slime is advertised as like a black holographic clear slime.
first off, the texture is nice. smooth. thick. glossy. stretches well. nothing crazy, i have no issues with the texture, but nothing especially to say about it either.
the scent is interesting... in the sense that it feels familiar, but i can't quite place it and it's driving me wild. if i'm going off that one instagram post and assuming this is supposed to be the rainbow sherbet, i'm a little confused because it doesn't exactly give me that vibe, but i don't know WHAT i'm smelling. it reminds me of some kind of soda, like redbull but also not, and it also reminds me of those flavored toothpastes from the dentist, and a whole bunch of other things. i don't hate this scent but i really can't describe it and it's killing me.
next, what's meant to be the focal point of this slime: the glitter and color. the color is like, a greyish purple. i couldn't tell that there were sparkles in it unless i was using the flash, since the glitter is so fine. i held the slime to my window and even then i could barely see the glitter. so, i was kind of hoping it would be MORE glittery, but maybe i should also just use it in a brighter location, ha.
y2k glitch score: 7/10.
overall, i liked this box. my one nitpick that i always have with snoopslimes is the fact that they pack the slimes all the way to the tops of the containers, and so when you play with them and they inflate, you have to put some of the extra into a separate container otherwise the lids won't close properly. maybe it's not necessarily a bad thing since you know you aren't getting cheaped out on slime, and they will start to deflate more eventually, but sometimes i don't really have a good container to put them in and end up going for like a ziploc or mixing the extras into older less favored slimes. this time i decided to take the extras from all 3 and layer them into a ziploc, so later when i feel like it i can see what sort of slime smoothie that turns into.
if you guys have thoughts on snoopslimes or on this box i'd be curious to hear about it!!

2024.05.18 19:51 gohome2020youredrunk Video today on CNN

While this is not directly related to 90DF (mods feel free to delete, but hopefully not, it's an important discussion), there have been so many instances of domestic violence on the program, that it does bear some connectivity.
If you have a strong stomach go watch the P-Diddy assault cctv clip (I watched it on CNN).
That video is going to haunt my dreams. Even now, an hour later, when I think of it, tears begin.
I have never been a victim of partner abuse but I am aware of how complicated it can be, with victims returning to abusers, despite their desire to flee.
If you are in this type of relationship, know that it's not normal. You don't deserve this. You did nothing to deserve this. You can escape and learn to live a healthier life. It's possible, you just need to get beyond the fear that keeps you paralyzed.
There are services out there that will help you. It starts with your town's social service/welfare department, but here's a list of national programs that can get you on your own path to freedom:
Domestic/partner violence is the great leveler. It impacts the affluent, the middle class and the poor. You don't need to be of any particular demographic to use these services. Just know they are there.
(PLEASE NOTE: Always read these sites with two web pages open ... one on celebrity gossip or the news or just an innocuous Google search and then any of the links below. That way if you are surprised by your abuser suddenly appearing, you can X out of the website page quickly. 2024.05.18 19:43 Mogglez234 Jenna2021 vs DHGate for replicas of the new jerseys: A review.

Jenna2021 vs DHGate for replicas of the new jerseys: A review.
So, with some posters showing off their DHGate hauls (very good hauls fellas!) I figured I would post my recent jersey purchase review from another source since it appears that most people don’t feel like feeding fanatics $350 for a stitched product that we, as fans, used to get for ~$125.
I usually went to DHGate for my replica jerseys, but I recently decided to give a merchant known as Jenna2021 a try, as she used to be THE seller for jerseys on DHGate before she broke off to open her own website &, based on some reviews I found online, the quality she used to have has only improved since she broke off of there to open her own shop.
I received my first jersey last week &, in my opinion, it is fantastic. I’ll be very transparent: I did have a few concerns based on some QC pictures she had sent me, via email, but that was early on in the order process so I decided to proceed with the hopes that the pictures were just off & now I can safely say that whatever she initially emailed me was either a.) not mine or b.) not truly representative of the final product. To be more specific, I had some concerns regarding number thickness & size but, while it certainly is not perfect, the problems I noticed are not even remotely close to being as egregious as I felt after those QC pictures were sent. The fit (XL) is absolutely immaculate. The colors, jersey template (Vapor F.U.S.E Elite), stitching quality, as well as sleeve length are fantastic &, for $36 (now $22 on her site), I could not be happier with what I received.
Overall, this was the best experience I have ever had purchasing a replica and, even better, the white legacy variants I now have on the way (#5 Garrett Wilson & #1 Sauce Gardner) will probably be even better in their quality since I presume that any very minor flaws I noticed with this particular order are likely related to the green and black variants of the Jets new uniforms just being released (my order was placed 2 days after they were revealed.) The white versions have been around for around a year now & from what I’ve seen on her site & reviews, her replicas of these variants are nearly 1:1 in their quality. If I had to put numbers to everything, this would be my scoring:
Ease of ordering: 7/10. I’ll be honest, I don’t really love her “Order on the site & pay, via PayPal’ ‘Friends/Family’ option, after I email you” process. I can easily see this turning off first time buyers who, unlike me, don’t have any experience ordering from her, or reps in general, & don’t want to take the chance. That being said, her communication (expanded upon below) put my concerns to rest.
Communication: 10/10. Jenna will accommodate just about any request & has never taken more than 30 minutes to answer me. Ex: If requested, she will send you photos of your order before they are shipped and if there are any, and I mean any, concerns you have with the quality, she will refund you or let you apply the credit to another jersey.
Delivery length: 8/10. It’s a tad slower to go through her than DHGate, but not enough for me to really complain. This was technically a “custom” jersey at the time of purchase, as there were no player specific options on her site (again, I ordered this the same week the Jets revealed the uniforms), which adds on a week to shipping. To give a more specific timeline, I placed my order on April 17th & today is the 11th of May, so it took just a little bit under a month to arrive. My 2nd order is 2 player specific listings (#5 Garrett Wilson #1 Sauce Gardner), not custom, so I’m hoping those two arrive quicker.
Fit: 10/10. I have received authentic jerseys as gifts & this replica is identical to that fit. I am an XL in authentics & there are no differences to the real thing. There’s a significant difference in fit when comparing this to my DHGate jerseys, and it’s a positive.
Stitching: 9/10. There are some loose threads that need to be trimmed and, again, the numbers are thicker than the the real thing but, most importantly, the corners inside the 8 are cut properly, unlike most other replicas so, overall, she nailed it.
Overall process: 9/10. Don’t really love the ordering process. Absolutely love the price & quality.
Overall jersey quality: 9.5/10. Very minor flaws (as mentioned above, the numbers are not 100% accurate in their thickness) that I expect to get resolved a few months from now when the real things have been out for a longer period of time but, other than that, I’m thrilled with my purchase & can’t wait to see the other jerseys I ordered. I usually know better when it comes to purchasing new jersey designs, but I wanted to see for myself what it was going to look like when you purchase early batches of those, so I’m not going to ding her shop too hard for the little things that I could have avoided by me being more patient. All-in-all, Jenna is probably going to be my “go-to” once again.

2024.05.18 19:39 dkapur17 Rollercoaster Prep - 170Q 164V Unofficial Score

Hey folks!
Finally done with my GRE! Since this subreddit was such great help for me during prep, I wanted to pay it forward by sharing my experience too and hopefully helping some of the folks currently preparing for the GRE.
I am currently a full time employee and so I can't really dedicate the entire day to studying for the GRE. On the plus side though, I didn't really have a hard deadline for when I needed to take the GRE by. As such, I decided to go with GregMat's 1 Month Study Plan and pace it to best suit my schedule.
I began my GRE preparation in early January 2024, initially completing one day of the Study Plan every two days. For Quant, I preferred Prepswift over GregMat's longer videos. Since I have a STEM background, I used these videos to familiarize myself with GRE topics rather than actually building a foundation from scratch. However, I did find some new information and watched the Prepswift videos at 2x speed. For Verbal I stuck with the videos in the plan and watched them at 2x speed.
For Vocab, not sure why, but I decided to go with the Magoosh Flashcards app over GregMat's vocab mountain. I was initially quite regular with my vocab practice and got the first 2 decks (100 words) in the first week, but this soon fell off (more on this later).
At the end of the First Week, the plan says to take a Diagnostic Test to see where you are at. So by this point the plan had covered the fundamentals of Arithmetic, and so I felt like the diagnostic test would be biased and show me that I did well on the Arithmetic questions and not as well on the others. With this "self-diagnosis", I decided against giving the diagnostic test in the first week and decided to give the test after I had done my first full round of prep. After that I could identify my weak spots and work on those again.
And from here, everything went down, in terms of regularity. I would go days without opening GregMat, or even the Magoosh Flashcards app. Some days I would feel extremely guilt ridden and so sit and grind a few days worth of study in a single sitting, and then again get out of touch for about a week or so. I had fallen into this rut, wherein I didn't study regularly for the GRE, but if I started working on any kind of hobby/side project I would be ridden with guilt that I should be studying instead.
This went on for a few months until by mid April I decided enough was enough and the only way for me to get this over with would be to decide on a test date. So I decided on a "soft" deadline, sometime during mid to end of May. Mid April I started prepping regularly again, trying my best to stick to the one-month plan. I also did 2 more decks from the Magoosh app (now a total of 200 words), but this is where things slowed down again on the vocabulary front.
I started to feel quite confident with my prep - I knew I had strong fundamentals in Quant as I did well on all the mixed practice sets and topic wise sets too, barring a few silly errors (and by silly I mean as silly as they can possibly get). For Verbal, GregMat's strategies were a gold mine. With this confidence, on 4th of May (I said May the Force Be With Me and) I booked the test for the 16th of May - just 12 days away.
I finished all of the available official material (Main Book, Verbal Guide and Quant Guide), except for the official practice tests by the 10th of May. At this point, I had still only memorized the 200 words from the Magoosh Flash Cards, and I had not given any practice test yet. I decided to give my first practice test on 11th, the PP1. I woke up early in the morning and gave the test with a fresh mind and got a 328 (168Q 160V). My goal was to score a 330+ (170Q and 160+V) in the real exam and this came pretty close, so I was somewhat happy. Analysis of my mistakes showed that I had made (yet again) a single silly mistake in the Quant Section that made me lose 2 points there, and missing a negation before a blank in one of the text completions that ended up changing my answer. Other than that, most of the mistakes were simply because I didn't understand what the words meant. That 200 word inventory was not nearly enough.
From this test I took away that my Quant was solid, but I needed to focus extra hard on not making silly mistakes, but my Vocab was in the gutter. I decided to focus the remaining few days on learning vocabulary and improving my reading strategies, since I was still struggling a bit in that area. I took to the vocab mountain and I made an excel sheet in which I only wrote down the words from the first 11 vocab groups that I didn't know. I was pleasantly surprised that for most groups, I only didn't know about half the words to begin with - this was quite the motivator. I also completed the remaining 2 Common Words decks from Magoosh bringing my word count from there to 300. I had also made another list of words that I had seen show up in the official material that I didn't find in words I had covered so far. As the test day drew nearer, I felt a little regretful not starting to memorize vocabulary sooner, but it was too late for that now. I just rinsed and repeated the words I had learnt so far. By my estimate, on test day I had about 500-600 words down (from the new ones I learnt and the ones I already knew).
On the 13th, I gave the Practice Test 1 on the GregMat website. While I found the quant to be slightly harder than the one in PP1, I managed to get a 334 (I don't remember the exact breakdown, but I remember making yet another silly mistake in the quant and missing the 170Q because of that, probably a 168Q 166V or 169Q 165V). Was quite happy with this but the silly mistake in the quant was quite frustrating again.
On the 14th, I grinded all the Quant sections from the practice tests in the official book (four 40 minute sections), consistently making a single silly mistake in each one. At this point I was super annoyed with myself for making such trivial mistakes. There was not a single problem I didn't know how to solve, but some step in the solution, or while reporting the final answer, I would end up blundering. I decided to concede and called it a day.
The day before the test 15th: I had read everywhere just to relax, not learn anything new, and if you really want, just do a light revision of what you already know. But by no means should you take a practice test at this point - nothing good can come out of it. If you identify some gaps you have no time to fill them, and if you do poorly it would be a massive hit to your confidence. Yet, despite my better judgement I decided to give the PP2. I guess I thought it would be stupid to waste an official test and I was quite confident in my prep - if I get a good score it will only raise my confidence. Seems like a good plan, right?
So I sit down first thing in the morning to give the test. I breeze past the first verbal and quant sections. I felt pretty good on the second verbal section too. In the second quant section, I had a small issue with time management and had to rush solving a few questions, but I felt satisfied with the way I handled the section. Time's up - I wait for the results to show up, feeling confident. A 324 - 165Q 159V. My heart sinks. What on earth happened?!
Almost with my heart in my throat, I go through the analysis and see that I had made a lot of mistakes in the sentence equivalence questions in the first verbal section - because I fell in love with one answer and then forced a pair, rather than pairing first and trying to solve the question after. A few more errors in reading. And my second quant section had 3 mistakes, each of which were very easily avoidable, but I didn't have a chance to do well because of poor time management. Boom! In a single swoop all the confidence I had gained over the weeks in my prep just shattered into pieces.
I kept thinking I should not have taken the test like everyone said. I hopped onto this subreddit to find some solace and see if anyone had posted something about a situation similar to mine. I found a few posts and fortunately most of them had an optimistic ending. Feeling better, I took a deeper look at what went wrong and wrote down the exact mistakes I had made. I came to realize that most of the mistakes I had made were not knowledge based errors, but rather strategical errors. I wrote these errors down clearly and made a very strong mental note about avoiding these in the actual test. This helped me calm down a lot and I started to gain a little bit of my confidence again. I called it an early night and hit the sack.
The next day I woke up feeling fresh and confident, telling myself that yesterday's test result was caused by negligence and not under-preparedness. Just don't pull yesterday's shenanigans today. I was ready! Went in and gave the test. I kept an extremely strong focus on good time management and not getting hung up on questions, making sure I finished the first pass over the quant sections with about 8-10 minutes to spare to go back and do the questions I missed and recheck my work. The quant seemed slightly harder than what I had done in the practice tests, although not by a huge margin (it could just be the nerves that made me think even easy questions have some kind of trap behind them). I was super careful not to make a single error, since I was targeting a perfect quant score. The verbal was about the same as all the prep that I had done before, so that didn't throw me off at all. I took a 1 minute break before the start of each section where I closed my eyes and just focused on my breathing. Overall the entire test went smoothly, and when I got my final score of 334 (170Q 164V), I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders.
Takeaway - Should've just been regular with the prep and more serious with the vocabular memorization. Perhaps booking the test date sooner would've helped me be more organized in my prep.
TL;DR:
  • Targeting a 330+ (170Q 160+V)
  • Spread GregMat's 1 Month Study Plan over 4 months in an extremely sporadic fashion (don't do this).
  • Didn't focus nearly enough on Vocab building - 200 words learnt (also don't do this).
  • Gave first diagnostic test PP1 5 days before exam - 328 (168Q 160V) - realize I make silly mistakes in quant and don't have nearly enough vocab knowledge
  • Spend next 3 days grinding vocab (200 -> 600 words) and improving reading strategy.
  • Gave GregMat Practice Test 1 3 days before exam - 334 (168Q 166V) - still making silly mistakes in quant, vocab is definitely improving.
  • Make big dum-dum move and give PP2 1 day before exam - 324 (165Q 159V) - confidence absolutely shattered (if there is one thing you take away from this post, 100% DO NOT do this).
  • Analysing mistakes helped identify flaws in test taking strategy that caused this poor score. Made a mental note to avoid these at all cost during the test.
  • Test day, super smooth experience with good time management. Final score 334 (170Q 164V).

A long term review of the NIU KQi3 Sport after 2 years, what I like and dislike about it, why I am abandoning it and what's next.
This is my NIU KQi3 Sport on the evening of July 2nd 2022 on its Maiden Voyage
Taken on a Samsung Galaxy S21+
And this is the same KQi3 Sport on the night of May 17th 2024 after almost 2 years of use and over a mile of total mileage.
Taken on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
And this is is my review of the ugly Middle Child of the 1st Gen KQi family that always stood in the shadows of the affordable KQi2 Pro and the perfromant KQi3 Pro.

Backstory - How did I even get here? What even is a KQi3 Sport?

Feel Free to skip this part but some people might be interested on why I even got this particular model.
First of all back when NIU first entered the eScooter business they started with only 3 models, the KQi2 Pro for 599$, the KQi3 Sport for 699$ and the KQi3 Pro for 799$. The KQi2 Pro got lots and lots of praise for being an excellent budget scooter, while the KQi3 Pro got lots of praise for its performance. But the KQi3 Sport? It got next to no coverage whatsoever. So what is it? Well it is a KQi2 Pro in a KQi3 Pro body. a single-motor 300W RWD scooter with 9.5" wheels, with the only benefits being a higher climbing strength and 120kg/265lb of max rider weight vs 100kg/220lb on the KQi2 Pro. (HOWEVER, this was changed, originally even the KQi3 Sport was listed as 100kg/220lb max rider weight). Technically there is 0 reason to get this scooter, you pay 100$ extra so you can have a KQi2 Pro in a larger, heavier less practical shell. So why did I even choose this model? Well, I didn't. I originally ordered a white KQi2 Pro for 450€ and was sent a KQi3 Sport instead. Given that this is a higher end model I called NIU about it and the extremely friendly NIU team told me to enjoy my free upgrade, my honesty about the matter apparently even made it all the way to their Reddit team, because when I posted about it everyone told me to just run away with it instead of telling them.
https://preview.redd.it/8khoo2sl081d1.png?width=946&format=png&auto=webp&s=b539550345fa9b9638fa550a6c1506d13e043a38

The Scooter itself

As said, this thing is a KQi2 Pro in a KQi3 Pro body, assuming that NIU did only change some numbers of the website, you get 20kg/45lb of extra rider capacity, great for me as with my equipment I weigh more than 100kg. However because I bought this scooter before the numbers were changed, if they actually did modify something on later batches, I am left with pretty much no advantages. Other than that the build quality is jaw droppingly solid. the Kqi3 frame is heavy yet sturdy. I had quite a few accidents with this scooter and it still works without issue. the most vulnerable parts are the rear wheel reflectors which I managed to shatter both of, the rear fender, which fractured but didn't fall off after I got rear ended by a shopping cart and the front light and reflector - more on that later. What I also love is the wide deck, yes this scooter is so big that it is technically too large for me to take into public transit with me (at least from a policy standpoint) the wide deck especially makes it all worth it, this thing is extremely comfortable on the feet in that regard. However, this isn't exclusive to the KQi3 Sport as the Pro and Max models offer the exact same qualities.
The worst part about this scooter is of course the performance to weight ratio, with only 300W of power on a body that with the battery weighs a whole 18.4kg/40.6lb, this scooter is incredibly underpowered. NIU calls this "The SUV of scooters" but SUVs should be fitted with according engines, this is like an SUV fitted with the engine of a Tata Nano. Here in Austria, scooters are locked to a maximum of 25kph/15mph, anything above that requires registration and thus also a drivers license, which I do not possess, these external limitations make the scooter bearable as the theoretical max speed is barely any higher, standing at only 28kph/17.4mph. In the USA where scooter speeds are not limited, this thing would get smoked by every other scooter out there, especially in this price bracket.

Ride quality

The ride quality of the KQi3 Sport is about what you would expect for a scooter with no suspension. While my central European hometown is rather advanced in terms of being bike friendly (remember, in Austria eScooters with a max speed of 25kph and <600W motors are legally considered bicycles) a lot of the bike lanes are shared with the actual road. this makes the ride often bumpy and uncomfortable, the large deck is a bit of a saving grace here, I can imagine it being way worse of suspensionless scooters with smaller decks and worse, solid tires. This is where the vulnerability of the headlight comes in. This thing is annoying to ride at night. While having an amazingly strong headlight, because of the lack of suspension the bumpy roads keep making it face down, meaning the slightest bump makes even a somewhat decently lit road look like a black hole. Every attempt at tightening the headlight to remedy this has failed, it just is too loose. you basically have to readjust the headlight at the very best every 2-5 minutes. However if you are on smooth roads you can ride it for long periods of time without any fatigue.
Here's also where the scooter's underpowered motor becomes apparent, it accelerates very slowly and decelerates a lot when climbing, and because I am so heavy sometimes the scooter just doesn't make the 15% climbs, this is usually when the battery is low as the scooter loses lots of power when this happens. I once made a climb with only 2 of 5 dots and not only did the scooter barely make it, it gave me an overheating warning too!

Then vs now

So here comes the long term part, this scooter has endured a lot, minor and major accidents, one of them even hospitalizing me, and this did leave the scooter with scratches and shattered rear side reflectors and a broken charge port cover but otherwise this thing functions just like day 1, battery degradation is next to nonexistent. as someone who is pretty heavy I NEVER got more than 20km/12.4miles but then again NIU is very honest about how they took their range measurements (at least I read somewhere that the range is measured with 70kg/154.3lb at 15kph/9.3mph.) so this was to be expected. After 2 years it feels like the scooter is still capable of that, maybe I have not driven it far enough but so far I am pretty satisfied. The fact that NIU's 2 year warranty also covers battery shows that they really care a lot about the quality of their batteries and it shows too. Overall it still drives like day one if it wasn't for the fact that about a year of use my rear tire blew. I found a replacement but let me tell you replacing it was a nightmare of a process, NIU gets an absolute 0 in terms of self repairability here. However the rear tire blowing was a result of my negligence and not NIU's so I gotta mention that.

Pros & Cons

I will make a list here
Pros:
  1. The Deck is really easy on the feet and not fatiguing
  2. The headlight is bright, no aftermarket solution needed.
  3. Amazing screen
  4. Durable
  5. Water resistance works amazingly.
  6. 120kg/265lb max rider weight.
  7. NIU has excellent support, most of my issues with the scooter were solved with a no-questions-asked approach.
  8. Great companion app with an electrical lock
As you can see, absolutely NONE of the Pros are something exclusive to the KQi3 Sport in particular. However, all my cons are.
Cons:
  1. UNDERPOWERED, thus slow and acceleration takes really long, climbing not as good as advertised.
  2. No suspension
  3. No blinkers (this is more of a 2024 problem, back in 2022 finding blinkers on scooters was an exception rather than the norm. But now lots of scooters, even from NIU itself have them. It is a must have as hand signals are dangerous on scooters and other traffic participants won't interpret foot signaling correctly either, this is also why in my country, rental scooters are now mandated to have blinkers).
  4. Expensive for what it offers, still at 699$.
  5. Unstable headlight and front reflector, constantly needs readjustment
  6. I haven't mentioned this but this week I found out that my unit is totally miscalibrated and thus even SLOWER. It started from the very beginning when my scooter said 25kph but my phone only said 23. I disregarded it as my phone being wrong but over time I noticed lots of people overtaking me with their scooters, given all scooters are locked down to 25kph, I thought maybe they flashed a US firmware on theirs. But this week I drove past a speed trap with my scooter and it too, like my phone said 23kph. Given that this scooter is already slow and takes long to accelerate this is yet another low blow and I have no idea how to fix this issue, what to tell NIU customer service and what they could to to remedy this. I doubt that after 2 years they would replace this scooter.

Why I am abandoning it

I am not abandoning this scooter per se, I won't just drive it somewhere and leave it there, but instead my current plan is buying a new scooter once my next paycheck arrives and then hand this one down to my parents and sis who all live together. My dad especially loves this scooter despite all its flaws so him just getting one like that would surely make him happy. But why am I leaving it? Well the number 1 reason is actually not because of the flaws but because of the scooter's weight and footprint. Ever since I moved out of my parents I moved into a ground floor apartment that doesn't have an elevator. Meaning I have to constantly pull up and down my scooter across a small set of stairs. Given that I need my scooter multiple times a day and I wear out the battery rather fast due to the fact that I am an overweight idiot, this just becomes fatiguing. My apartment is also small so the blessing that is the wide deck became a curse. I also would love to have a scooter with blinkers, it was borderline impossible for me to find a set of compatible aftermarket ones. and of course, a scooter with a suspension.

What's next

I need a scooter with suspension, blinkers, more power and a smaller footprint and it also should have an electric lock with my budget being around 600€. having combed through the market, this leaves me with only 2 options. the Ninebot F2 Pro and the NIU KQi300P. I am tending more towards the Ninebot though because the issue with the NIU is that it is even wider and heavier than the KQi3 Sport. However it is a NIU and I really trust the brand as far as Customer Service and Experience goes. But the Ninebot F2 Pro just seems to be the better fit of the two over all. The KQi300P is also technically out of my budget but it is on sale right now, so it is sub 600€ here. If anyone has either of the two scooters PLEASE share your thoughts on them in the comments.

Conclusion

Buy a NIU but do not buy a NIU KQi3 Sport. It is just a waste of money and their worst product. There is a huge reason NIU's EU shop puts it at the very bottom of their page.
https://preview.redd.it/eid98nd1181d1.png?width=1059&format=png&auto=webp&s=53cbdec76f248017c205bca3c5f00199123bc62d
I would either save the money and go for a KQi2 Pro or save up and go with the far more reasonable KQi300P, for only 100 bucks more you get a more powerful motor, blinkers, a disk brake for both the front and rear wheel, front suspension and longer range as well as better water resistance. NIU should discontinue the KQi3 Sport and offer the KQi300P for the same price as it. The last words I have are what someone else said. the YouTuber Ordinary things said in his video about eScooters that they'd only last for 2 years. And yes while they can technically last way longer, scooters in this sense are pretty much like phones and replacing it every 2 years might be something I will have to do if things keep going like this. Thanks for reading.

Is there another Limbus Company wiki other than Fandom?
Correct me if I'm wrong, it seems that currently the only well-established wiki is the Fandom one based on my google search result.
Frequent wiki users will know that Fandom is an absolutely awful website to visit. The layout of its pages with tons of ads is atrocious. It always autoplays ad videos, which can easily crash your browsers on PC or mobile. Many communities have decided to migrate to other wiki website (e.g. wiki.gg) or have already completed their migration, such as Fallout, Runescape, Minecraft, Satisfactory... etc.
Fandom's ads layout is highly stroke-inducing
The Fandom wiki for Limbus Company has been prominent for a while, so it would probably be difficult to establish a competitor wiki. But the content of Limbus Company is still growing in a healthy and promising pace, so maybe migration is not entirely impossible.
Is there any existing alternative wiki for Limbus Company right now? Or, is anyone currently working on an alternative wiki, such as Miraheze or MediaWiki? I'm more than happy to contribute to expanding any alternative wiki, as this may increase the possibility (even just a tiny little bit) of moving away from Fandom. I'm sure many people here are eager to help as well.
Also, I'm curious about what you guys/gals thought regarding Fandom in general. Personally I truly dislike Fandom. It's such a pain when I have to keep it open during a mirror dungeon session. But maybe it's not that bad from others' perspective?
Edit: Here's a list of existing alternatives suggested in the comment section:
  1. Project Moon wiki https://projectmoon.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
  2. Limbus Kusoge https://limbus.kusoge.xyz/
  3. Prydwen https://www.prydwen.gg/limbus-company/
  4. BreezeWiki https://antifandom.com/limbuscompany/wiki/Limbus_Company_Wiki (BreezeWiki removes Fandom's ads and makes it clean and readable, but you cannot create or edit Fandom's wiki pages while using BreezeWiki. See its website for more details.)

2024.05.18 19:32 bloo-karoof Airport Security stopped entry to gate. Losing $1200 on roundtrip. How do I recover this loss?

Hi all. Let me provide some context.
My wife and I planned a trip to Brazil. I'm a US passport holder flying out from the US and she's a Moroccan passport holder flying out from Morocco. Her flight was departing 6 hours before mine. She had 1 layover in Madrid, Spain and a 2nd in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
When we initially planned for this trip, we checked to make sure my wife wouldn't need a transit visa to get thru Spain. We came across this Spanish govt website regarding airport transit visas and Moroccan passport holders are not one of the nationals listed.
https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/malabo/en/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/ConsulaVisado-de-transito-aeroportuario.aspx
So we thought we were in the okay to continue our booking. The day of her flight, my wife went to the airport and was able to successfully check in and get her luggage checked in as well. One her way to the gate, she was stopped by Moroccan airport security and they said she was not allowed to board her flight without a transit visa for Spain. She tried to protest it and went thru many other airport security officers and none of them budged. Apparently her needing a transit visa as a Moroccan is common knowledge-- that was the general vibe received from all of the airport staff. But we couldn't find anywhere where her needing a visa is explicitly mentioned. We tried to consider other options (layover in France or Turkey) and exhausted all of our options. Nothing was going to work. She tried to cite the policy/exclusion we saw on the Spanish govt website, and finally one officer responded and said she was right-- that she wouldn't need a transit visa for Spain and not even France, but that Moroccan airport security required her to have it anyways.
So now we are at a loss. I booked her flight through Capital One Travel using my Cap One Venture points. There was several airlines involved in her itinerary. Royal Air Maroc, LATAM, and Iberia Airlines. According to Cap One, the tickets were provided by LATAM. I called Capital One and both LATAM to try to get refunds. They bounced me back and forth like a tennis ball, neither parties wanting to get involved and refund me. LATAM accusing of a no-show. Cap One saying we checked in and therefore its in the hands of the airlines. I get it. Neither parties did anything wrong here. My wife couldn't board the flight because of airport security. We thought we did our due diligence.
After that whole debacle, my wife called up the Spanish embassy in Morocco to inquire about the transit visa situation. The embassy rep there told her that if she booked thru Iberia (all the way thru and back) she would have been in the clear. The issue here was that it was booked thru multiple airlines and she would have needed to recheck her bags in Spain. They also mentioned that even if she applied for a transit visa, she would not be issued one as the embassy stopped issuing transit visas due to rampant illegal immigration.
It seems we were set for failure from the moment we booked this trip. There's a very slim chance we would have known that niche bit of info about booking thru Iberia up front.
I somehow was able to get a full refund for my roundtrip back to my card. We ended up canceling my trip before it was time for me to go to the airport. Is there any way I can recover the $1200 I paid for my wife's roundtrip?

2024.05.18 19:16 CyberbulliedByAdmin What's the deal with overpriced professional vendors that never have a sale (ebay etc.)?

Hi all,
I keep stumbling across pro vendors of 2nd hand photo gear with insanely inflated prices - 200+% above the average. Whether on ebay or independent websites.
But the twist on ebay is, when you click on "sold", they have virtually no sales. Like, 100k of stock, 100$ sold last month. And they're not going away either (I just found a lens again that I had seen for sale in 2021 - same guy, same lens, same price).
Who wins? How?
They can't all be rich collectors just listing stuff on the off-chance of a dumbbell buying (it clearly does not happen)? They can't all be money laundering schemes (how to launder if there's no business happening)? And they can't all be fictitious either, or people would notice and report if too many orders got cancelled, because the item never actually existed? (that said, I dealt with a slightly more reasonably priced guy a decade ago, and he cancelled two out of my three orders within about a year...!)
Any ideas? What am I missing?

2024.05.18 19:14 mofunnymoproblems Anyone remember the “Guide to being a Biscuit head?”

Does anyone remember the website that was the “guide to being a biscuit head”? I can’t find it anywhere anymore and I’d love to read over it again (maybe the way back machine?).
It had a glossary of biscuit slang (ie tractorbeam, the untz and “hotey”), guides for clothing (ball cap and black or blue biscuit t-shirt with black biscuit hoodie) and appropriate other bands to like (Electron, Conspirator, Lotus, Tribe… end of list), etc. It was all just text on a single page in the old html style.
