I (24F) am having issues with my friend group over the man (31M) that I picked. I’ll have to provide the long background story for context.
My friend group consists of several individuals. The specific few I will talk about I will refer to as “J” “M” and “A.” They are all (24F). J and M are a couple. These girls seem to have the strongest opinion about the ordeal. I met my friends in middle/high school. We didn’t become close until our college years. I love these people and we’ve gone on many trips and shared many experiences together.
In early 2023, I was asked out by a guy who frequented my place of work. He had apparently noticed me for some time. It is quite rare for me to “date,” but something about him gave me the sense I could trust him. He gave off good vibes overall. We went on a date a few days later and discovered we have everything in common. EVERYTHING. From our morals, values, hobbies, childhood upbringing, family dilemmas, favorite foods, love for traveling, etc. we are the same person in two separate bodies. The date was such a success and I knew then in my gut that he was going to be someone special.
Unfortunately, our beginning took a turn. We initiated dates back and forth that fell through due to valid reasons dealing with weather, conflicting schedules, etc. During this break between dates, he took the time to think if he was ready to start a new relationship. Although he liked me a lot, he was a little unsure unbeknownst to me. He’d been in several relationships before and they ended with him getting hurt whether they ended on good or bad terms. He was getting cold feet and didn’t know how to communicate that to me. He didn’t want to officially end it and he also didn’t want to lead me on so he said nothing for awhile. Although it wasn’t necessarily thought out, he was buying himself time until he knew how he felt (I learned all this later on). Then came about a month with no contact. During this time, he was dealing with family drama and I was becoming anemic. I eventually did need a blood transfusion. I mention this because that month apart went by fast and we didn’t have much time to linger over the thought of each other. I did notice he hadn’t reached out though. I’m certain now that he wouldn’t have ignored my messages had I sent any, but I was honestly waiting for him to reach out first. I was a little hurt to think that he had changed his mind and didn’t have the guts to tell me.
Sometime in that next month, when I returned to work after my hospital stay, I saw him at my job. I thought he saw me. He left and said nothing. I was actually devastated. He had been so kind and I didn’t know why he had a change of heart. At least he should’ve told me about it anyway. I decided that I was going to text him that night. I mentioned I had seen him at work, thanked him for the initial first date, apologized for not reaching out on my end, and I sort of wished him farewell under the assumption he wasn’t interested. It was very professional and I let him know that there were no hard feelings had he changed his mind. I was expecting some lame, typical excuse response if I even got one. He sent back this long text message apologizing, explaining himself, and asking me questions. He explained his fears and asked if we could start a “friendship” of sorts to keep a slow pace. There was chemistry of course, but he was afraid of me and now I was afraid of him. There was enough there to where we wanted to spend time together, but I needed to be sure I could trust him with my feelings and he also needed to be sure he could trust me with his heart. To this, I agreed to see him again.
We spent time going on casual dates and talking a lot. He became my friend. We talked a lot about what happened with the break over the following months. I told him how hurt I was and how communication is important to me. He understands the impact of going no contact abruptly. It has been entirely resolved and I also take responsibility in my part of not reaching out to him either. Ever since the break, he became consistent. We’ve talked every single day since. He was patient with me and I was patient with him. We earned each other’s trust and are now madly in love. It happened slowly and quietly. I have never met such a soft, kind, understanding, sensitive man. I am more myself with him than I ever have been before. If soulmates are real, then he is mine.
Now to the tea. Of course, my friends knew (most) all of this. I told them about the big events as they were happening. They were excited for me on my first date, they sympathized with me when he no longer reached out, etc. They were surely surprised when I decided to spend time with him again. I asked them to trust me. I didn’t think he was a bad guy. What happened was a mistake. As my man and I spent more time, my friend J would reach out asking me questions about him. I told only her about my concerns in the beginning. Back then, I was guarded and nervous to proceed, but it was something I knew I had to do. I had to find out for sure what kind of person he was.
Now, J, she’s a fireball. I love that girl, but I’ll admit she’s one to hold a grudge, keep score, and quietly judge. She’d never admit it. I made a mistake in choosing her as my confidant in those early days. I was looking for advice when speaking to her because I do value her opinion. She then went and told the other friends in my group, M and A included, about my man—what a bad person he seems to be, using her words, which frankly, are very different from mine. What makes me mad is she got to tell them about him, not me. Not even any of the positives either. This was all before they had even met him and they already didn’t like him. They had no problem scolding me for being with him.
Months down the road, I arranged a meeting for everyone. My friends thought a bar would be a great place. Still not sure about that. It was awkward. Nobody talked more than a few words. My man was shy and my friends didn’t really do anything to make him feel welcome. I was the only one babbling all night it seems like. You’d think that as time goes on, it’d be different. More meetings will help everyone be comfortable. Nope. Every time after was awkward. They haven’t spoken more than a few words to him at a time. It’s very “surface level” talk even now—a year later.
My last birthday had come around and J, M, and A took me out for drinks. It turned into a lecture session about how I seriously need to break up with him. They scolded me on “allowing a man to waste my time.” They criticized his career choice, our age difference, his “character,” etc. Mind you, this is based off of this one mistake and a few other things that I mentioned to J in private that were no longer an issue. I cried myself to sleep that night thinking I was going to have to break up with him to please them.
Of course, I couldn’t. They still invite him to events and friend functions out of politeness, but it’s always the same. They don’t acknowledge him. It makes me especially sad when my man makes comments like, “I’ve never seen so many shy people in one room” (He thinks my friends are just shy when they’re really just ignoring him). He’s printed out their pictures for our scrapbook and labeled them as “new friends.” I haven’t told him the truth and I probably never will.
A few months ago, J, M, me, and my man had plans to go to this local indie concert. Tickets are free. The concert was on a Friday. The next day, Saturday, was scheduled for my man’s nephew’s 2nd Birthday Party. His brother’s family would be traveling from out of town to celebrate their son. Well, things didn’t go according to plan. The brother decided to come a day early, the day of the concert. I should have cancelled the concert date then when I learned this news, but I told J and M we were still coming because my man still wanted to go. We figured we’d be able to sneak away since the brother had come by himself and wanted to come over and take a nap since he works odd hours. Well, my man’s dad dropped by and the brother didn’t take his nap as he’d planned. Now, having company over with expectations, I made the difficult decision to cancel with my friends last minute. I realize it is rude, but something came up. I didn’t see how we could go anymore.
My friends let me have it. J and M were so angry. They told me how rude we were and how disrespectful it was to their time to opt out of the concert which was free and in town by the way. There was also the two of them and they could have easily gone on a date. I think it would’ve been equally rude to leave our company or rush them out the door. I picked my battle. I should have gave them more notice, but I didn’t know we weren’t going until the last minute. It couldn’t have happened any other way. We fought over text for awhile. She accused me of being so different now, saying and doing things out of the ordinary for me. The truth is, I’m just growing up. J ended the conversation saying, “Well, we’re just going to stay mad.” She claimed to understand my circumstance, but she didn’t. We didn’t talk for weeks after.
I eventually got invited to a breakfast date to which I declined. I have been avoiding all of them for awhile. I keep getting “I miss yous” from J. She keeps asking when we’re gonna hang out next. It’s also true that J and M are now moving 4 hours away at the end of the month. My problem may solve itself. That does sound awful though. I feel like an asshole. I have not been a good or present friend lately. I’m so busy, tired, and I have no room for petty drama. I’m not giving up my friends yet, but I will gladly choose this boy over them. He’s given me more peace in one year than they have in five years.
My boy and I are now engaged. I told my friends the news. They said some nice things I guess. J texted to let me know “If I’m really happy, she’ll support me.” This would be nicer if it was coming from a concerned friend. To me, this whole situation feels controlling. It’s more than concern. There’s venom behind it. They don’t care about the wedding either. They don’t ask me fun questions or get excited when it comes up. When I eventually explained how he proposed, they seemed disinterested. I could tell they were judging the experience. When I finally showed J the engagement ring in person all she said was, “Take it off” in a snippy tone so she could try it on.
I’m so disappointed in my friends. I always wanted a big friend group and especially to share this big milestone with. I haven’t even gotten excited about wedding planning because I’m dreading going over the bridesmaids list. Anyway, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for listening. I definitely need to get this off my chest and outta my life. I can’t believe I’m losing my friends over a boy.

Hello everyone! I'm usually lurking, but I have to vent a little bit about a guest we had.
Yesterday at work our system and Internet went down, which isn't great. We couldn't really do anything, so we used pen and paper to check people out, and luckily only one of the guests hadn't paid, but they would come back later (which they did, because they left luggage with us).
So it's almost 11am, checkout hasn't ended yet, and this old man (OM) shows up.
OM: Hello, I want to check in. Me: Hello, unfortunately our system is down right now, so we can't check which room you have or if your room is done yet. Check in is at 3pm, you may leave your bag here for now if you want to. :) OM: But I called yesterday, and you said I could check in early. Me (I really doubt that, because we never guarantee an early check in, we only say that it might be possible, but no guarantee) : Okay, unfortunately we can never guarantee an early check in, and right now our system is down, so there is nothing we can do, again, we really apologise for the inconvenience. OM: But I want to check in? Me: Okay, I understand that, but right now we have no access to our system, so we cannot see your room type, and we can't make any keys. OM: Okay, but I was told I could check in?
This was repeated a few times, and at this point I'm not sure he understands what it means that a system is down and not working. I'm really losing my patience, because he just keeps repeating that he wants to check in. We explain to him that he can get his keys later, and if he doesn't arrive before we close (we're not a 24/7 hotel), he will receive information about how to access his keys on his own via SMS. He, ONCE AGAIN, states that he wants to check in, and at this point my boss takes over and explains to him how he will get his keys later. Like, my guy, you are four hours early, you cannot grasp what it means that a system isn't working, please just leave your bag and come back later.
Through some miracle my amazing colleague manage to figure out his room type through some printed papers from yesterday, remember that one of those rooms is actually clean, lord knows how she managed to make keys (probably black magic), but we solved it, and my boss showed him to his room. Part of me wanted to just send him away and text him the information later, because I was so done, and part of me was very happy that we managed to just get him a room, because that meant we didn't have to deal with him anymore.

Rewatching the episodes where the rift between Meredith and Cristina starts building with Cristina asking Meredith to scrub out because she didn't finish reading an article really important to the surgery and have Bailey assist instead. That whole painful conversation outside the OR with Cristina's "you became the thing we used to laugh at." In Cristina's defense she did try to act normal after that but Mer was bruised more than anticipated.
Cut to Cristina and Shane taking her incomplete liver model out of the 3D Printer for printing something important for a kid's surgery (I understand the urgency but really Cristina that would have sucked).
Both of them were wrong at multiple points but can I just point out- this man child known as Shane Ross was probably the worsening factor in all of these points. Man had too much audacity for too little reason. Cristina let him get away with way too much, perhaps because she saw herself in him. I feel like I was watching a rerun of Cristina-Burke except for the sensitivity and that it was much more crass and annoying.

Marked series Spoilers just in case some one really cares about little details about the Cohort and the fact Gideon's Sword is in places for plot reasons.
Ok, so this may seem like a nitpick, because it is, but how Gideon smuggles her sword to Canaan House has always bothered me. I understand why that sword needed to be in Canaan for everything that happens to happen, but the method just seemed... Unrealistic.
As anyone who has engaged with TLT knows Gideon prefers to wield her two hander, as the books call it. Muir later clarified that it was meant as a German Zweihander (literally just translates to two hander). My problem is how the hell is Gideon's luggage big enough to conceal the blade.
The first major problem is that the classification of swords is a mess and most terms we have to day for historical blades really just translates to "sword". As well how most people think of swords is just off. So when refering to Gideon's Sword as a two hander or really a Zweihander gives us little to no information on how big exactly Gideon's luggage must be since Two handed swords can reach anywhere from 100cm (3ft 2in) to well over 183cm or 6ft in length and still be viable for combat. This variation is mostly due to the fact that swords were so important and expensive that they were made to fit the user and their style of combat. A sword closer to 100cm would be made with point control in mind and for one on one combat where as blades that are commonly thought of as Zweihanders are ment for larger people who are focused on multiple enemies as the sword works more like a flail or a spear when it comes to need for velocity and ability to keep space respectfully. This considered, we do not need to acertain Gideon's hight as the sword is Cohort standard issue, meaning that if it is available in more than one size, it is extremely limited in variation as we see the disposable nature of Cohort cavaliers. This means on the battlefield another soldier would need to be able to pick up and use the blade if trained. However, I would believe that there would be several options of blades and that a Zweihander would simply be for those few Corn fed troops that can handle the weight. All this to say my secondary question isn't how big is a sword Gideon should be wielding but instead how big is a Cohort standard issue Zweihander?
Most Zweihanders are at least 1.4 meters or 4 ft 7in from point to pommel. However, there have been Zweihanders made up to 7 feet or 2.1 meters long that weight in at 6.8 Kg or 15 lbs. The biggest sword ment for battle, and not ceremonial use, could not way more than 8.8 lbs. or about 4 Kg due to the energy consumption to effectively use such a heavy sword. One heavy example of a useable Zweihander is 3.6Kg (7.9lbs) in weight and 197cm (6ft 5in) length. This however would not be viable as a standard issue weapon since this blade would be on the larger side and not exactly fit for one size fits all. A more resonable length would be around the minimum length of 1.4 meters however this works out to be around the maximum of a longsword and i don't believe Muir would have specified a Zweihander if a particularly big longsword was intended. Therefor, I will go with the length of about 170 cm or 5ft 7in as that is about the average hight of a man world wide. This is because most Greatswords, and there for Zweihanders as we call them today, should be about the hight of the wielder.
So, now that we have the length of the sword it is time for the luggage. The sword was smuggled using a false bottom, this means to find the minimum length of the box we'd need to operate in two dimension rather than three. I.e. the sword needs to lay flat on the bottom. To do this I will use the Pythagorean theorem (C=√A²+B²) but to find leg A rather than the hypotenuse. This will give us the dimensions of the box only issue is to find leg B first.
Ok, here's the thing I have zero clue what kind of luggage they have in the Houses. I'm assuming some kind of futuristic container pod or maybe like a chest or a trunk since, y'know, Ninth House. It is for sure not modern luggage as that size would be ridiculous and I do not think it would be any kind of big storage container as it must reasonably fit in their room. The final requirement is that it must also contain the necessary items that belong to Gideon, it is not much but I can imagine the there would still be a good amount of personal effects as to warrant a large box to hide the sword. Amazon boxes that seem big enough for all criteria are about 50cm (20in) in depth and so we will use that as our leg B.
Finally, it is box time. Using the modified Pythagorean theorem that is used to find the length of leg A (A=√C²-B²) we get (A=√170²-50²) for a total of 162.48cm (5ft 3in). This is not as absurd of a number as I thought but I do think it is a bit ridiculous size for an individual piece of luggage. Mind you, this is double the length of an average foot locker. For Gideon to get away with sneaking this sword to Canaan House it would just be a normal piece of luggage and while I understand that they do not know how long they we be there, cannot imagine Gideon needs 40 gallons (150L) of storage space as I cannot imagine Gideon would be allowed to fill the damn thing with dirty mags.
TLDR: While not absurd, Gideon was given a Harrow sized box and nobody thought it weird.
P.S. This was not a Lack of Alecto™ fugue state. I just finally had time to answer this weird little gripe I've had this whole time.

The mother was committed to her volunteer work in the church, and when she told the pastor who supervised that ministry area that her child was transgender, the pastor said: “That’s fine. We love everybody here. But it’s still a sin.”
“Blah, blah, blah, but….” Whatever comes after the “but” always negates whatever nice things were said in the first part of the sentence. Beware of the “but.”
Some would look kindly on the suburban pastor’s response because, after all, the pastor didn’t kick the family out of the church or condemn the teenager straight to hell. But.
Even among Christians who appear kind or progressive, too often the existence of someone who identifies as transgender gets chalked up to “sin.” No doubt that’s the root reason so many Christians happily pile on against transgender persons and their family members about bathrooms and schools, because in their heart of hearts, they don’t understand transgender identity and simply default to thinking it is a sinful lifestyle choice.
I think we all can agree that a “sin” is something we do that we shouldn’t do, something we have a choice about. If I eat an entire half-gallon of ice cream, I am likely guilty of the sin of gluttony. I didn’t have to eat the ice cream. If I fixate on why other people are more athletic and agile than me in my mid-life body, I probably am guilty of the sin of envy. There is a way for me to redirect my thoughts to avoid envy.
The same is not true of transgender identity. Emphatically and conclusively, this is not a choice. It is who a person is. Did you choose to have red hair? Did you choose to be tall or short? Did you choose to have the genetic markers you have? Of course not. Transgender persons are simply acknowledging that the gender identity assigned to them at birth because of physical anatomy does not match the brain, biochemical and genetic gender identity they know inside.
Since writing a column two years ago about understanding transgender identity – an opinion article that has been read more than 1 million times and led to giving a TED Talk on the same subject – I have conversed with hundreds of transgender persons and family members of transgender persons. That’s not just ministerially speaking. It really has been hundreds. Every one of those transgender persons has told me that they knew from their earliest awareness – from the time they were 4, 5 or 6 years old – that the gender anatomy they showed on the outside did not match who they knew they were on the inside.
There is an increasing body of scientific evidence to back up this assertion. For example, a 2008 study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that female fetuses with increased prenatal exposure to androgens are more likely to have gender nonconforming behaviors. Researchers – including some theologically conservative ones – point to environmental factors that may be responsible for what appears to be an increase in transgender identity through endocrine disruption beginning in the 20th century. This is linked to industrialization, development of new chemicals and medicines.
But these environmental factors only explain an increase, not the presence of transgender identity, which has been documented for centuries. The American Academy of Pediatrics (not to be confused with a small association of conservative pediatricians often cited by critics of transgender rights) recently released a new policy statement explaining that variation in gender identity is a normal part of human diversity. For an excellent, lay-friendly description of the emerging science of transgender identity, look to this report from Harvard University.
I could quote chapter and verse for study after study, and that would not change the minds of some people who are determined to label as sinful anything they do not understand, usually because “the Bible says so.” In these cases, I ask people to tell me where in the Bible being transgender is condemned as sinful. The only answer usually offered is Deuteronomy 22:5, which says: “A woman shall not wear a man’s apparel, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for whoever does such things is abhorrent to the Lord your God.”
Here’s the problem with even a literal reading of that passage: Transgender persons will tell you they are not “men” putting on “women’s” clothing or “women” putting on “men’s” clothing. Instead, they are declaring an identity much deeper than clothing; they are saying that they are dressing outwardly to match who they know they are on the inside. This is not cross-dressing, which is not the subject of this column. Cross-dressing is about finding pleasure in wearing certain clothes. Being transgender is about finding mental and spiritual peace by aligning outward presentation with inner being.
Occasionally, people will point to Genesis 1:27 as a condemnation of transgender identity: “male and female he created them.” Most transgender persons will tell you they believe God has, in fact, created them as either male or female; the problem is how they have been labeled by others who are not God.
Some people today identify as “gender fluid,” meaning they find in themselves bits of both male and female identity and cannot definitely say they are one or the other. While this may sound unsettling to some of us on first hearing, a return to Genesis might help. There we also learn that God created both “night” and “day” and that God separated “land” from “sea.” Yet we have no problem understanding the existence of dawn and dusk or marshes and everglades. Also, the point of Genesis 1 is inclusion, not exclusion. The ancient text tells us that God created everything: “and,” not “or.”
The other lesson we need to keep learning from Genesis is that all humanity is created “in the image of God.” Everybody. Without exception. When we look at others who are different than us and try to see in them the image of God, we gain new understanding and empathy.
Sometimes well-meaning Christians get this part but still can’t get over the “sin” label. So they will say things like, “All of us are sinners in God’s eyes, and it’s just that my sin is different than your sin.” That’s another way of saying, “I love you, but….”

ich bin hier seit 2 Tagen am Verzweifeln. Ich versuche einen Etikettendrucker "SATO WS408" an einem Windows-Client (Windows 7) innerhalb einer Domäne zum Laufen zu bringen.
Die Installation des Druckers hat mit den Treibern von Sato soweit funktioniert. Der Drucker wird mir als Online und Verfügbar angezeigt. Die Verbindung erfolgt per USB. Aber egal was ich versuche aus Windows heraus zu drucken, er druckt es einfach nicht. Nicht mal die Testseite und auch egal ob ich mich mit einem Domain-Admin oder Domain-Nutzer Konto anmelde. Ich erhalte auch keine Fehlermeldung. In der Druckerwarteschleife steht einfach der Druckauftrag mit dem Status "Wird gedruckt".
Ich habe mir dann testweise noch den "Sato WS4 Printer Utility" heruntergeladen. Mit diesem Programm kann man Einstellungen am Drucker vornehmen. Wenn ich in diesem die Funktion "Print Testpage" nutze, druckt der Drucker die entsprechende Testseite aus. Auch andere Befehle die ich über dieses Tool sende, werden vom Drucker verarbeitet. Wie z.B. der Neustart des Druckers. Es besteht hardwareseitig demnach ganz offensichtlich eine Verbindung. Bedeutet das Problem muss irgendwo bei Windows liegen?!

- Die Windows-Testseite als Admin zu drucken

- Am Client die entsprechenden Rechte unter den Druckerservereigenschaften zu setzen

I have been losing interest and fun on a day to day basis ever since we have decided to grow a bit more and focus on bigger clients. However it's not the big clients that make me lose interest, love the pressure, love the challenges, love most of it. It's dealing with the absolute shitload of horrible ERP/CRM/whatever the BLEEP resellers/software companies and the greed that comes with them.
Getting told that you will have to install SQL 2016 in 2024 because currently they don't support 2019 or 2022 is disgusting. Not only because it is a waste of time for us but the exorbitant amount of money they charge for the migration from 2012 to 2016 only to do it all over again in a year (or two) when 2016 is EOL is pissing me off more than it should. It's not my money, we don't have to do much and in the end I probably end up with a fatter wallet because of it. But good lord I feel dirty even though I'm not the one pushing this. Sick and tired of having to sit in meetings where I hear a company talk about the system requirements for their software being stupendous only to then get told that their software is 32-bits and all of their system requirements are bullshit.
Right now we have a client who is basically looking at an upgrade from SQL 2012 to SQL 2016 which is going to set them back a whopping 58k, only a tiny sliver of that is our work but the ERP in question basically has a monopoly for this industry and know it. Realistically they will have to take another 58k (or more) in 2 years when 2016 is done for. This client literally has no choice but to just sign on the dotted line and take it on the chin because there is no decent alternative. Then there's the company that has well over 20 unresolved tickets for a company that has less than 10 people using their software, but because their software is complete dogshit and because they have been just plugging holes instead of updating/fixing the base, no normal fix works and they don't know how to fix anything. Can the client move on? No. Will the software company grant any kind of goodwill when another "tech" spent 3 full days fixing a print button? Nope, here's a 4k invoice.
After speaking with several CEO's/CTO's about this in an advisory role they all basically say the same. They accept the insane greed and money grubbing because switching software will probably kill efficiency so taking the L here is actually the way to go. It's disgusting.
And now I don't want to sound like that old bitter man shaking his fist to the heavens but where have the times gone when the software space wasn't as disgusting. Where have the times gone where you could call a helpdesk and not sit through 20 options in a menu only to still get forwarded to an outsourced receptionist who says a technician will call back as soon as humanly possible. My bloodpressure spikes even thinking about hearing another technician read up a script or a KB for a problem that has already been escalated twice only to get told that they will have to send this "even further up the chain" because appearantly the first THREE lines of defence for the software company don't know how to deal with non-standard errors.
Don't get me wrong, I love my work and I am proud for how far I have come but my goodness I am so done of seeing my staff sigh and moan after having to deal with the same shit over and over again.

I'm genuinely feeling encouraged and wanted to share something positive on this sub. This is long but, I don't know, maybe it'll spur something in someone else the way I was feeling spurred...
Have you ever just felt a building up of feelings where it feels like God or the universe is telling you "Now is the time to change."? I've been feeling this for many weeks now. I don't really know how to describe it but, daily, I was just overcome with thoughts and feelings that I need to change. I felt like I couldn't lose these feelings. Whether it's God, the vibes of the universe, what my friend tells me was something to do with planets and stars, or just a feeling from within that I needed to change or I would lose the person I love and also that I would die if I didn't change... I took hold and went with the flow.
It definitely hasn't been just all rainbows and sunshine of course. But I do feel a deep seed of change in me. My partner, in his frustration over my health/weight, asked me to do three things: eat a can of beans daily, and walk for 30min, and to track my time wasted and keep it to less than an hour.
I did that for two months. The most beneficial of the 3 was tracking my time wasted. It's easy for me to get sucked into things like Insta, Youtube, Buzzfeed, and Reddit for far too long. I also have this horrible habit of wasting time when I park my car and just sit on my phone. This was eye opening and it made me think introspectively. I looked back on my life to a time ten years ago when I used to not watch much tv, I listened to more music, I exercised more, I read more, and was all around more happy. I binged, but was overall happier. In short, I realized that with things online being so much more accessible, I shifted my time and attention to those things. Now, other things also contributed like a change in jobs from high energy retail to a slow office, a loved one with serious health issues, a vitamin D deficiency that went undiagnosed for years, etc. I can't blame it all on the internet and smart phones and social media. But when you're unhappy in life, those things are so much easier to turn to. And you know what pairs well with depression and mindless tv/scrolling? Delicious fucking food.
I could get into a super long thing about how I started bingeing as a teen, things got worse after I became more sedentary and depressed. But I know long posts tend to bore people. So I'll just try to focus more on what I've been doing.
I continued with the goals from my partner and I added some myself. For me, I've felt better focusing on adding positive things rather than just saying "I'm not going to binge anymore!".
My original goals:
Now I want to be honest. When I first started my original goals I was bingeing. But I was also forcing myself to eat those freaking beans, too. I was miserable! I hate admitting this but if anyone will understand it's hopefully some of you, but I literally ate beans and potato chips. I once put the beans on a pizza that I ordered! It sounds so disgusting and crazy. My partner found out and he was so disappointed in me. He basically told me I need to show him with my actions that I can change because he can't trust my words anymore; which really hurt.
I did binge about a week into my new goals. I haven't binged since. I know it hasn't been a long time since the last binge but I personally think that as long as I'm working towards my goals consistently, a single binge will not knock me off. In fact, I am expecting to binge. But bingeing once every few weeks is far better than daily. I'm striving to do better, not be perfect.
Another thing that has helped is taking my vitamins daily. A while back I found out that due to having jobs for so long where I went into work before the sun came up and left as it was going down, I had an extremely low level of Vitamin D. I kid you not, I was falling asleep within 5min of just sitting down anywhere. This also kicked off my habit of buying mochas/lattes.
Right now, I'm working on eliminating fried foods from my diet. I mean like deep fried foods like fries. Man, the chokehold any fried potato has on me is stupidly embarrassing! I have an air fryer at home and that's totally fine to use for when I want something crispy. Today I found myself in a position where I had just gotten out of work, had long drive, and was hungry aka was feeling that itch to binge or just eat something extremely fatty and I really wanted fried potatoes of some kind. I suddenly recalled that Wendys sells baked potatoes. I got their chive and sour cream baked potato and a medium chocolate Frosty. Is that the best thing? No. Is it far better than bingeing or eating deep fried fatty foods? Yep!
I always read how you shouldn't restrict when it comes to binge eating. My attitude right now is that I'm not at a place where I can reintroduce potato chips right now. I don't have the mentality that I'll NEVER have them again. I told myself that after the 75 of following my goals, I can re-evaluate if I am ready to reintroduce chips and how that will look.
I have also just been working on my mental health. In a perfect world I would see a therapist and have a dietician/nutritionist, and a personal trainer. But I can't afford that so I have me and my broke ass. I have a pinterest board where I save (and actually use!) things that inspire me to be the person I want to be. Going through these goals has inspired other goals. I printed out a photo of the character Richie from the show The Bear because his character is really going through it in the beginning of the show but he goes through so much character development I literally sobbed because I was so happy for this fictional character. So I have a photo of Richie in his suit being his best self. I tell myself to "Be a Richie".
I used to paint my nails all the time but at some point I just stopped because I stopped caring about myself. This weekend I felt, for the first time in a long time, that I really wanted to paint my nails and feel good. I painted them bright pink. And today I actually put on some mascara for work.
I'm just feeling positive and hopeful for the first time in a long time.

- Eat a can of beans/equivalent amount of tofu daily. (I'm a vegetarian)
- The purpose of this is to get more protein. I have found that doing this made me really have to think through my meals ahead of time.
- Walk 30min daily.
- I just walk around my studio apartment. Some days I feel like shit and literally just walk in place while playing a video game. Putting on a show that I only watch while walking has been nice as well. Gives me something to focus on other than the actual walking.
- Tracking my time wasted and keeping it to less than 1hr.
- This has been hard. But so eye-opening. Basically, if I'm supposed to be doing something and I'm not, I'm wasting time. I've been keeping my social media/online/streaming consumption down by combining it with other things. I can watch something while I eat a designated meal because I can do both at the same time. I look at Insta while I have breaks at work or I'm waiting on something (waiting in line, in a waiting room, got to work 10min early and can't clock in, etc). When tracking this wasted time, I would look at the time and then I would indulge. I would then try to guess how much time I had wasted before actually checking the clock. I found that I was WAY underestimating how much time here and there I was wasting. What I would think was only 10min could easily be 34min in reality.
- Follow a "diet"
- (I do my beans/tofu as my "diet"). But part of this is also that I plan my meals, I get a lot of protein, I do NOT allow chips in my home because they are my biggest binge food by far, and I aim for high protein in the mornings.
- Other than chips, no food is off limits but I am slowly weaning myself off from some of my most unhealthy food choices that I indulge in far too often. I freaking love iced mochas/lattes but caffeine often triggers binges for me. I am also far more likely to get added things like pastries. It's just a lot of sugar and fat to start the day. So what I did was stop going to coffee shops. I told myself that if I truly needed caffeine I would drink the shitty coffee at work or could have tea.
- High protein and volume eating veggies and fruit have been the winners for me. I feel so full all day that it all but kills the urge to binge. I also do not restrict not binge foods. I don't binge on chocolate so I have been treating myself to nice quality chocolate each week. And I ALWAYS make sure I eat it when I want it.
- Exercise for 45min a day
- This has included a 30min walk plus whatever else I want to do. But today I did all bodyweight exercises. I only care that I'm doing something to move my body.
- Drink a minimum 64oz of water daily
- I bought some True Lemon water enhancing packets and a bunch of flavored seltzers. This helps fill me up.
- Take a progress photo daily
- This one isn't so important to me but it did force me to really look at myself from all angles. And it will be nice to see my progress throughout this time.
- Read 10pgs of a book daily.
- This helps because it is a goal that is not diet/exercise/binge related. It also helps me not waste my time. I used to love reading and I read several books a year. I hate that I haven't finished a book in years. I'm 2 weeks into this challenge and I've already finished one book and started another.

I saw recently that newer printings (around 2020ish) of the 3-in-1s have gotten rid of some of the censorship that was prevalent in old printings, specifically Android 17 shooting the man with a gun. Does anyone have any similarly recent printings of the Vizbigs or single volumes that would be able to tell me if those volumes are changed at all?
I'm mostly interested in the Vizbigs, as I prefer the larger art, but I'm curious about the singles of Dragonball and "Z" as well. I know that Popo's lips probably aren't going to be changed, but I'm more concerned about the standard censored things like middle fingers and swearing.
