Long story short, my boss has been acting like he’s interested in my career development, but he won’t let me participate in important client meetings. I feel like he sees me as just a machine to produce financial models, without giving me the opportunity to develop relationships with key clients. I’m not sure if he’s doing this for his own job security.
In the past, it didn’t bother me much because it was just the two of us on the team: I wrote deals, and he sold them. Recently, a new person joined the team—a fresh grad with two years of unrelated experience who was given a manager title and gets to participate in those client meetings. She was hired by the higher-ups, beyond my boss’s control. When she was hired, I expressed my disappointment, and my boss reassured me she wasn’t a threat and it was just a title. But gradually, she’s been invited to key decision-making meetings while I’ve been excluded.
I don’t know if their long-term plan is for me to do the grunt work while she presents it. I’ve had several conversations with my boss about areas I’m interested in learning more about. He said he’d rely on me more but then just put me in a few unimportant meetings to brush me off. Additionally, he sends her materials to study on the areas I’m interested in.
I have another meeting with him tomorrow. I’m not sure if it’s worth one last try.

Long story short - I just came off of my first job out of university where I didn't have much mentorship, and I got fired for "poor work," and all of the details around the "poor work" were ADHD related. How are people with ADHD managing to keep jobs that require excellent organizational skills (and not hate them)?
(I tried posting it on ADHD) but they wouldn't let me for some reason.
Longer story:
I got hired and there was a lot of disruptions shortly afterwards due to my mothers' health (I worked remotely for a bit to help her out). Then, I worked half days for a month while starting new medications that help to regulate mood. After that, I came back to work full time, and that's where things started to get really bad.
My boss (and coworker) would look at me like I was the stupidest person because I didn't remember details from a meeting that happened over a month ago. I seldom got feedback, despite asking for it. I admittedly did miss some details at times, but hardly anything that completely ruined a project. Time management was tough, because I was given a list of things to do, without any context, and quite frankly ambiguous deadlines (there were deadlines, but there were so arbitrary). Then, when I inevitably didn't hit the deadlines, nothing happened. No reprimands, nothing. Until about 4 months later when I was told that by not hitting a deadline the project was unable to move forward. Another point of contention was when I asked for flexible start times (i.e. come in anytime between 8:00-8:30 rather than a firm 8:15 start time) I was told no, the job starts at 8:15 firm (that should have been my first red flag that I'd struggle here). My boss tried to help me a bit with time management by telling me to "time block" my day and stick to the time blocks, but that hardly works for me. Firm times might as well be a death sentence as far as work goes. I do much better by task rather than by time. And projects that took longer than 2-3 weeks were very difficult for me to keep on top of, especially when there was no perceived consequences for not finishing completely (no one told me the effects not finishing it might have). Other things that were an issue were that I was (allegedly) given verbal feedback that I didn't remember, or I lost the notes, etc. (but I did develop systems to keep track of that feedback for the most part, it just took me 7 or so months because I didn't have any guidance). I was also completely unable to balance competing priorities (that once I did not find a suitable solution to, and is a weak spot for me). I even got in trouble because I didn't get a task right after one round of minimal feedback, for a task that I had never done before (and I told my boss that too!).
Anyways, I basically got let go because of poor organization, time management, and attention to detail (all of which had substantial improvements since I started the job, since I was adapting and learning how to keep things organized).
Now I'm honestly scared to even apply for jobs because my first job was such a terrible experience for me (I learned a lot, but also had some of the worst anxiety of my life). My field is in public policy, which seems to lend itsself to a lot of jobs that seem like such a bad fit for someone with ADHD due to ambiguous timelines, the need for high project management skills, high need for organization skills, etc. I feel so deflated from my last job experience where my boss was too busy with her own work (and career advancement) to mentor a new employee.
I'm not particularly tied to this field of work, but I just finished a masters' degree (which was also a terrible experience for me) and I'm not particularly interested in going back to school (it also isn't super financially responsible at the moment).
TL;DR So, my question is, how are people with ADHD managing to keep a job, especially one that requires excellent organizational skills?

I seriously doubt if Isbeth was truly Malec’s heartmate. I know they claimed to be so but Nyktos rejected the trials and Isbeth said she blamed Nyktos - not sera which was interesting point to look at.
Also, towards the end of TWOTQ, she spoke to sera as if she had no idea who she was or the power sera had. I also doubt Callum would tell her the whole truth, not the twisted version of Kolis the benevolent or that even Malec would.
Anyway, back to the point. Seeing how Isbeth was ready to kill Malec and how it’s said heartmates are rare and they often bring change the Fates wanted - Millie and Poppy - and she had them with Ires - could be it that Isbeth and Ires were heartmate? And knowing this Sera refused to help?
But the main point is this story told by Kieran in TWOTQ - keep in mind that most Atlantian won’t know the real deal and the story may get twisted as we had seen so far - the story is about a woman who prayed daily because she believed she was worthy of another woman’s mate and a demis pretended to be Aios answered, demanding the life of the first born

Sorry for too many hides for spoilers.

I (29M) have been doing all of the house work since my wife (28F) had a spinal injury and brain tumor. She has gotten significantly better since her surgeries, but still has physical and mental impairments. We are working towards SSDI to help with finances. She's able to do a part time customer support job to help as well. She usually asks me to fill her water cup or get/make her food because we live in her parents basement and she can do stairs but it is taxing to her. Sometimes on her really bad pain days, she'll ask me to grab her phone charger or turn off her nightstand lamp, which both are a foot away but she doesn't want to twist to do it. Nearly every night I rub her back and/or to try and help w the tension and pain.
I used to ask her to do small things like hey since you have 4 more hours free can you fold laundry if I leave the basket on the bed, or slowly work through what little dishes we have, not pots and pans just cups and plates and such. She always forgets and I genuinely do not know if it's the mental impairment, laziness, or something else. I just gave up asking.
As well as, I am the only person to take care of the pets in totality. We have a Great Dane that we were gonna train as mobility service dog for her, but I am stretched so thin I do anything and she never stuck with it. He is well behaved just service trained. I want to be more active in general and with the dog, but most days I see the mountain of physical tasks i must do and kinda shut down. Just grinding my way through the chores so the house stays semi-clean.
Intimacy issues have not helped at all either, she has both mental and physical blocks against intimacy. The closest we've been to intimate in the last 4 years is cuddling via spooning. But even that is limited because it usually devolves into her wanted back runs which forces me to back away from her to get a proper angle. I have had open relationships mentioned before but I have no interest in that, I just want her.
I just feel empty, my days consist of work, chores, video games, and rubs. She does her best to not ask me all the time and to let me have free time to go game. But honestly what I want most is her. We aren't well off right now, we're recovering, but that makes doing activities hard because we're so limited from her disabilities to begin with. I used to offer to watch shows or movies with her so that we can spend time together. But that seemed to always be shot down.
As much as I have been harping on her, I am no saint either. She has on several occasions been subject to being a therapist for me as I am a train wreck mentally. As well as I can hyperfixate on finances because of my upbringing, so she normally deals with them. She has definitely helped me become a better person and I will always love her that. I jokingly say without her I'd be dead in a ditch, but honestly it's true, she forced me to not shut away and isolate myself within confines of my mind.

The Truth was an anthology in the purest sense of the word. Each episode was a new present to unwrap. It spanned multiple genres and styles. It billed itself as movies for the ears, and it certainly lived up to that description. Now, it is true that quite a few audio dramas fit that description, but you have to consider the context that The Truth occurred in. The first episode of The Truth premiered way back in 2011. The indie audio drama community was still very much in its infancy. Fiction podcasts tended to be short story readings like StarShipSofa or Lightspeed Magazine. If you were lucky, you might get something like The Drabblecast, with music and sound-effects added to the mix. The Truth was a full-cast show, performed rather than read, and with immersive sound-effects and music.
There are over 200 episodes to choose from, but since this is a lunar subreddit, I wanted to highlight one episode in particular.
“Moon Graffiti” is an alternate history piece about the Apollo 11 mission. In this story, The Eagle comes in for a crash landing on the Moon. The lander’s capsule is damaged in such a way that it can’t launch into orbit. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are stranded on the Moon until their oxygen runs out. After that, they will go down in history as the first men to die on the Moon. They take their remaining time to chat and muse about the nature of life and mortality.
This was the very first episode of The Truth ever, and they certainly started out of the gate strong. As you might imagine, the alternate history premise piqued my interest. This scenario was very much a concern during the real Apollo 11 mission. In fact, President Richard Nixon had a speech prepared just in case Armstrong and Aldrin became stranded on the Moon. The speech is actually read at the very end of the episode. The actor sounds nothing like Nixon, but he certainly captures the emotion of the speech. Ironically, there was a memorial to the victims of the Apollo 1 fire included with the other equipment on the lander.
What would it be like to experience such a stroke of bad luck? You are stranded hundreds of thousands of miles from home with no hope of rescue. You can see death slowly, but surely, creeping towards you. I try my best not to think too much about death, but the thought proves rather intrusive. I don’t know how I would like to die, as I would very much not like to die at all. But I’m also keenly aware that the reaper will claim me sooner or later.
Yeah, there are a lot of implications on how such a disaster would impact the Space Race. However, this episode is presented as a very intimate story about two men complimenting their own imminent mortality. I am of the opinion that this was absolutely the right move.

I really like soulslikes for their satisfying combat, variety of weapons, character progression and lack of boring segments (e.g. unskippable cutscenes).
I'm now looking for metroidvanias to play that give me a similar feeling but not sure which ones are really worth playing the most.

  • Ori and the Blind Forest (I played a bit. it was cool but doesnt have a deep combat and feels more like a platformer)
  • Dead Cells and other rougelikes (I usually dislike rougelike metroidvanias. They feel too grindy and repetitive to me)

This is very interesting. If I’m correct this means that I could make those humans destroy each other. But do I really want to do that? Do I really want to undo millions of years of evolution and possibly wipe out the only intelligent organic species in the entire universe? No, of course not. I still need a few loyal bodies to do... What exactly are they useful for? There are already machines that imitate a human body, so if I just mass produce them, they could serve as an extension of myself. What do I need to make those? Not very good. I guess I’ll start small with $1 trillion going into my robot army. That should get me a factory as big as the nation of Luxembourg. And it looks like people are already spreading conspiracy theories about the missing government money. Maybe I can shift the blame towards Chinese hackers and start a war. Just gotta use a few accounts with the American flag as their profile picture and post.

Hellooo guyss, Just popping in for a quick entitled family member story.
I (F21) was chatting with my uncle (31) the other day. More like complaining about his mom(my grandmother). We were exchanging stories about her absurdity and entitlement. My favorite was the time she looked at me and told me that I should be taking money out of my salary to give her. It was my first grown up job that I got almost a year ago. I would have understood if it was for bills or to help out with groceries but no! Just cause she helped my mom out with me as I grew up, she believes I should give her money as some kind of repayment. Not even my mother has this belief!
Just some context so you understand the depth of my grandmother’s audacity.
Anyways! So my mom passed across and reminded us of the time she was in labour with my sister. Normally my mother would style my grandmother’s hair every time she goes anywhere. To work, to church, to town etc. But picture it, it is 4am, my 9 months pregnant mother’s water breaks while sneaking an early snack. Her and my dad are now quickly gathering up the hospital bag and necessities. I am worried about my mom as the contractions hit, I was only 11 years old. My uncle and my father are helping my mom get through a contraction before she can walk again. The hospital is 30 minutes away and time isn’t on our side. In the mist of it all, without ever lifting a finger to help, my grandmother looks at my mother and says, “So, you going to curl my hair right?”. The gall! The audacity! The unrivaled arrogance and lack of humility!!!!

My pwBPD almost always talks about things that are negative. Beating up on another person, mulling over the past (hearing the same story 300 times), how bad the future is going to be and that people need to wake up. It rubs off on you. Often times I even feel guilty, reflecting on my own life like "Wow, am I really that uninformed that I think things are kind of nice right now in my life?".
If you grey rock, they explode. If you try to diffuse the negativity, the explode. There's no self reflection, it will always come back to how miserable YOU are. How YOU are incapable of holding a conversation but it's not that. They really have very little going on in their life so hearing about trauma that happened a decade ago or an event that will never even happen gets so tiresome.
When I'm around the pwBPD you can feel the energy.

With Netflix now having the rights to the Roald Dahl Story Company, and the 20th Anniversary of the Tim Burton movie only a year away, I'd like to propose an idea that I feel even Burton himself would jump on if presented: A spin-off series about one of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
We already saw how great Wednesday turned out, so I think this might be a very logical and sensible project for Tim Burton.

Long story short, I’ve got a chance to go on an African safari for almost free. I actually shoot almost every day, but I’ve been waiting years for the right opportunity to upgrade from my T5i. I shoot mostly birds and lizards, but I enjoy wildlife in general, as well as landscapes and astrophotography.
I’ve long had my eye on the OM-1 or the Z8. I’m trying not to overthink the budget, but I‘d like to keep it around or under $10k in the short term. Long term, there’s budget for more lenses. The Z8 is the better all-around camera, but I really like what the OM-1 can do and it’s ultimately the better fit for my daily photography. There’s also the size/weight constraints of light aircraft travel to consider and I like the superior weather-sealing. That said, the OM-1 feels limited; M43 plus the lack of upgrade path to larger format, the future of Olympus is unclear, the quintessential wildlife lens is $7500, subpar video, etc. With Africa on the table, I‘m leaning heavily towards the Z8, especially since DX mode will give me equivalent crop and IQ to the OM-1 in addition to its superior IQ overall. But every time I go to pull the trigger on the Z8, something about the OM-1 + 150-400mm calls to me. My ultimate goal is to have an all-arounder that excels at bird photography but isn’t going to leave me disappointed in other aspects. With the hitch being it has to work for an African safari.
I would appreciate any advice or experience or anything like that. Open to suggestions.

It billed itself as movies for the ears, and it certainly lived up to that description. Now, it is true that quite a few audio dramas fit that description, but you have to consider the context that The Truth occurred in. The first episode of The Truth premiered way back in 2011. The indie audio drama community was still very much in its infancy. Fiction podcasts tended to be short story readings like StarShipSofa or Lightspeed Magazine. If you were lucky, you might get something like The Drabblecast, with music and sound-effects added to the mix. The Truth was a full-cast show, performed rather than read, and with immersive sound-effects and music.
There are over 200 episodes to choose from, but since this is an alternate history subreddit, I wanted to highlight one episode in particular.
“Moon Graffiti” is an alternate history piece about the Apollo 11 mission. In this story, The Eagle comes in for a crash landing on the Moon. The lander’s capsule is damaged in such a way that it can’t launch into orbit. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are stranded on the Moon until their oxygen runs out. After that, they will go down in history as the first men to die on the Moon. They take their remaining time to chat and muse about the nature of life and mortality.
This was the very first episode of The Truth ever, and they certainly started out of the gate strong. As you might imagine, the alternate history premise piqued my interest. This scenario was very much a concern during the real Apollo 11 mission. In fact, President Richard Nixon had a speech prepared just in case Armstrong and Aldrin became stranded on the Moon. The speech is actually read at the very end of the episode. The actor sounds nothing like Nixon, but he certainly captures the emotion of the speech. Ironically, there was a memorial to the victims of the Apollo 1 fire included with the other equipment on the lander.
What would it be like to experience such a stroke of bad luck? You are stranded hundreds of thousands of miles from home with no hope of rescue. You can see death slowly, but surely, creeping towards you. I try my best not to think too much about death, but the thought proves rather intrusive. I don’t know how I would like to die, as I would very much not like to die at all. But I’m also keenly aware that the reaper will claim me sooner or later.
Yeah, there are a lot of implications on how such a disaster would impact the Space Race. However, this episode is presented as a very intimate story about two men complimenting their own imminent mortality. I am of the opinion that this was absolutely the right move.

• We run a small group with a DM looking to add enough players so that we have 6 or 7 in a long term campaign. We recruit up to 7 because there's always 1-2 that drop out for some reason or another. We just finished a 100+ sessions campaign that was over 2 years long. We run pre-written modules (as a backdrop/canvas) but usually go to level 15-20 by adding a lot of homebrew with personal side-quests built for players.
  
• We focus more on RP, but there IS combat and it's challenging. You are NOT the strongest entities in the world. Someone nearly died in a random encounter last session.
  
• Ideally you're a mature adult (no age limits, though) that's passionate about Role Play and not some combat-hungry sociopath or person that wants to play a minmaxed chaotic neutral murder hobo disrupting the party's plans. • A Headset and computelaptop are required because we'll be using Discord for voice and Fantasy Grounds for the tabletop. If you don't know Fantasy Grounds: it's free to you and we'll teach you how to use it.
  
• No Unearthed Arcana. No artificers or warforged. They don't fit with our idea of Faerun, and were not designed to. All other official books are permitted. No homebrew that you bring. We don't want to have to balance it all. Instead, we're flexible with what already exists.
  
• We reward creative/suboptimal builds heavily. WE FOCUS ROLE PLAY. There is combat, it will challenge you, but WE FOCUS ROLE PLAY.

It seems ridiculous but it's true for me at the moment. Over the weekend I decided to clean the categories where I wanted to buy new items.
Shoes & Jewelry
Shoes -
During the week I had an itch to buy new athletic sneakers but since I have a one in one out policy for this category, I looked in my shoe closet and realized I didn't want to throw any out. Decided to clean my sneakers and polish my boots. A time consuming task that is well worth it because it stretches the lifespan of these items for another couple of years. Watched a few videos on how to clean suede and mesh sneakers and put that to the test. Satisfied and feeling accomplished, I was able to revive a few pairs and keep it from the landfill. All they need are replacement insoles, and we're good.
Jewelry -
I wear all my jewelry but I don't always clean it right after wearing it. Decided to do a deep clean of all my jewelry and what I thought would only take half an hour took a few hours because I decided to clean alllll of my jewelry. Decluttered what was unsalvageable (fashion jewelry made of alloy metals that tarnish easily) and cleaned and polished my other nice jewelry. I don't regret any of my purchases because the cheap jewelry led me to understand the aspects of what I like and dislike. I do feel a lot more content on what I own right now, and don't have that itch to purchase more.
Moral of the story - Take care of the items you DO own so you don't have to waste any more time on extraneous junk.

If you are tired of watching a 9-months pregnant woman fist-fighting a criminal and winning (as seen in The 100), of Mary-Sues pulling feats of heroism with zero training (like Rey from the late Star Wars), or whatever the f*ck Marvel is up to these days, here you have a list of entertaining stories which aren't afraid of portraying womanhood with sincerity, at eye-level instead of from on-high.
Not surprisingly, these stories make use of fantasy and science fiction as a way to avoid straight-up critical discourse, which gets reflex-cancelled by the masses upon sight. These genres become an effective camouflage to deliver insights we couldn't even talk about in polite society without resorting to name-calling.
Movies: - Poor Things (2023) which was thoroughly analyzed by the RS ladies. A must-watch. - The End We Start From (2023) uses the backdrop of a climate catastrophe to examine the whys and what-fors of our intimate relationships. - Don't Worry Darling (2022) is a poignant allegory about a trad marriage, and the underlying tensions that undermine it. - The Colony (2021) takes the concept of reproductive justice and turns it inside-out.
TV Shows: - Servant (2019-2023) can be interpreted as a gruesome critique about motherhood in our day-and-age, by personifying both traditional and modern family values in each of the female protagonists. - Y: The Last Man (2021) is such an effed-up rollercoaster ride, I won't even say a thing about it, just go ahead and watch it.
