I was promoted to a Recruitment Specialist role at my current company about a month ago. Before my promotion, I applied to an Organizational Development Coordinator role at a different company 1.5 hours away from where I live. Cons - In my hometown (I am looking to move out of the area basically as soon as I financially can - I hate it here) - I am not interested in HRBP/Labour Relations work, and there are no other further progression opportunities at this company for me unless I went that route - Although we are working on it, the processes at my current company really suck and I find this really overwhelming
ORG DEV COORDINATOR $73k per year
Pros - It’s a company I’ve always wanted to work for and is very reputable - More development opportunities (ie there are OD Consultants on the team I would be joining) - In a city that I really like - I really enjoy the training/organizational development side of HR, and know I want to get into this area of work eventually - Hybrid
Cons - I would need to move and rent, which would greatly impact my ability to save (I’m in my early 20s and not financially able to purchase a home yet)
Typing this out, it does seem clear to me that taking the new opportunity is deep down what I want to do. But the financial piece is honestly just so huge to me. I hate how that is the only thing holding me back, but it really is a super important factor. I keep saying that I wish this job came up a year from now when I’ve had more of a chance to save, but I also know that life rarely happens on an ideal timeframe.

This might be more of a personal issue than a PhD related issue. I am around 3years and a half into my PhD. I‘ve had extraordinarly hard time, not only with research, but with moving countries, racism issues, relationship abuse, rediscovering sexual and spiritual life alongside my thesis. My PI was always nice and supportive(work wise), but always demanding a publication of what Im doing (I wasn‘t ready or didn‘t fully know how long this takes, its my first time publishing). Long story short, recently we grew farther in communication, and he stopped requesting anything. I am finally in the writing mindset and he already reviewed an incomplete draft of mine. But in recent weeks, I‘ve noticed (someone else in the group brought my attention), to the fact that my PI, not only offered two students a postdoc, but also doesn‘t pressure them in any way. One of them started 5-6 months before me and he recently just gave a paper draft, have no progress meetings and is just very chill. He is going on vacationfor 3 weeks and PI tells him no stress in submitting .
I am under a lot of pressure, I have a lot of ideas and work that I have to write in a month and a half. The funny thing is that one of these people doesn‘t even wanna stay in academia and is a politics oriented person, but she took the postdoc position so she doesn‘t have to worry about extension. And said to someone she may quit it .. On top of that my residence is linked to me having a job and I suffered here a lot with my living situation. Note that all of them are Germans and Im a foreigner. My other friend in the group (who is more resentful/ actually I may be influenced by him) says PI just likes someone or not no matter what work they do. Somehow these postdocs just give a puppet like vibe..
Today I knew that a new Masters student is gonna work on the same project I am working on, and I don‘t want to be the person feeling I am being replaced, because I actually want to finally finish and start again more healthy and after more rest. But time is so tight rn, mind you PI rarely reply to messages and selectively only replies.. I dont know how to feel,its Maybe just a rant. And its so uncertain how will I manage to submit with only one draft being almost ready..
the worst thing is when I was showing him an outline of the thesis and what I plan to write, he said „ I cant see that happening (when I arrived at the last two chapters). Even though the complete story is there and I would need one or two more plots to express the idea. I should cut out and present an incomplete thesis while others get extension without even having anything deeply meaningful.. I didnt ask for extension but just the emotional weight of this, it makes it feel even harder to write a complete thesis of what I have in mind.

Hi, I will keep this short and brief.
I am London (UK, England) based and work for a large company. I believe I have been unfairly dismissed due to performance. I have been employed for over 2 years.
Key details:

• Not been put on a PIP
• No explicit performance warnings (they can argue for 1 warning if they wanted to - I read some internal policies where performance discussion results can be seen as a warning)
• No explicit support for improving performance such as setting targets
• No warning otherwise this was coming

I was not given a fair chance to defend myself. I was invited to a meeting by HR attended by HR and not any direct line managers and at the start was told I would be being dismissed and the reasons they outlined, I have very strong arguments for. I have overwhelmingly positive feedback from all my project engagements and managers. I also have evidence that there were lies being mentioned about my actions by others within the company that affected my performance discussion outcomes.
Could you please kindly advise how I should take this forward?

Wasn’t there a policy that came out a few years ago in response to the plant employee in Kansas who was electrocuted that stated nobody can work more than 6 days in a row? Hey guys, I started to work on the crow quest and I just want to check if I’m correctly understanding the way the code is supposed to look like. Up until now, we listed the mini quests’ functions and the codes below them on the cpp file. But as I’m reading through the outline, I understand that it’s a little different this quest compared to the other ones and instead of different mini quests on one file (like the other quests), now it’s different mini quests all relate to each other and you include all the different functions the professor provides us to kind of build it all together in one file. I don’t know if I explained myself good enough but if someone gets my point just confirm me so I don’t go says I’m not supposed to with this quest.

I would like to build a SFF PC (due to space constraints) in the Lian Li A4-H2O or similar case. The height clearance should be no more than 13 inches MAX. The PC will be hooked up to an OLED TV for playing games and movies, etc. I play almost all types of games and I'm fine with 1080p 60fps at Medium to High settings for demanding titles. Basically if I can build this to that games will look pretty much the same as they would on PS5 I will be more than content. This is more for couch gaming (console ports, indies) - I have a powerful gaming laptop that I travel with (frequently) that I use for mouse/keyboard titles.
This PC would replace a PS5, essentially. My motivation there is to keep all my games in the Steam/PC ecosystem so that I can play them from the couch, or laptop when traveling, or the Steam Deck (either streaming or natively if they run on it). I am tired of buying games for PS5 and want to consolidate my efforts within Steam/Windows.
I have a ton of experience building PCs so I am comfortable with complex builds and cable routing etc - I just have 2 small kids and no time to research the best value proposition for parts. I would be open to custom cables as well - that just sounds cool and I've never gotten them for a build before.

Rather than a maximum budget, I would prefer to not buy more PC than I will really need to take full advantage of an OLED TV at 120mhz maximum refresh rate. I also would like to err on the side of efficiency and modest heat generation as I live in a warm climate and this SFF PC will live in the entertainment center.
In terms of budget ethos - I prefer cost benefit over future proofing. If it's built on a platform that can be easily upgraded later that's cool, but I will focus on 1080p and efficiency for this build due to the above factors.
