“Yeah, it’s super exciting times! Two non-Terran AI, a Woolean, and a Tritian, finally interacting with us. There’s even been talks of some of the Woolean governments starting to formalize diplomatic relations with the Alliance. Exciting stuff!”
The avian uplift spoke with a measure of excitement, the ex-parrot’s feathers moving with a passion as they spoke about recent events, eyes glinting with excitement as she swung the glass of liquid around before taking a swig of the alcoholic beverage.
The bar was a small thing, more of a place to stay and drink in-between your travels, a tiny little room of bare steel chairs and tables, all lit by dim fluorescent lighting. It didn’t even have a bartender, just a little synthesizer which could create a variety of drinks. Sure, an aficionado of mixology would claim that synthesized drinks just don’t taste the same, but anyone coming to an establishment such as this wasn’t looking for a high class experience.
It was mostly about company while you waited for your ship to fuel on this small Terran owned space station.
“A Tritian? A Woolean I could understand, since they are less aggressive, but a Tritian? How do you get one of those without them trying to kill you?”
The second voice of the three figures sitting at the bar was an unnatural one, tinted with the digital origin of its speaker. The figure was bipedal, but not of an organic nature; instead a 7ft machine of metal, tubes, and wires making it look like something that had been welded together in someone’s backyard. Their ‘face’ was shown upon a single display: A pixelated representation of two eyes and a mouth. The entire form was a clear design choice by the AI inhabiting the body, considering more ‘realistic’ representations were readily available.
Most AI spent their time in a digital form, but a few preferred a more… physical existence. MADHAU5 was such an AI, enjoying the relative quiet and difference in point of view from such a limited perspective. He also held a small glass of liquor in one robotic hand, keeping it perfectly level as he spoke. The AI couldn’t drink it of course, but merely holding it… added to the ambience.
“The AI who brought them along, JOSH, brought a Tritian along without telling anyone when his crew escaped from a Tritian warship.” The avian responded to the question. ”From what I heard, they kept the Tritian in isolation for over ten years!”
“Ooof, you can't do that! I’m surprised that the Tritian AI was willing to cooperate with us after being illegally detained.”
The last voice joined the conversation the trio were having. A human, short built and still wearing his leather pilot jacket. The three sat in a row against the bar top, each looking at the others as they talked: An uplift, a human and an AI. A perfect representation of what it meant to be a Terran.
“Not like it would matter legally, the Tritian presumably attacked first, making them a combatant.”
There was a pause as both the human and uplift turned to stare at the words the AI had just spoken, looks of confusion filling both of their faces as they both looked at MADHAU5.
“Umm, that is not how that works….” The avian interjected, slowly and unsurely.
“Yeah, whether they attack you doesn’t change the legality.” The human added. ”You can’t just kidnap people for years because they assaulted you.”
“No, no, no, they are an enemy combatant at that point, meaning what happens is their fault.”
Another pause, most looks of confusion, the human giving a small laugh as if this was some joke he wasn’t quite getting yet.
“No… even if they’re a combatant, the Geneva conventions would make doing that a war crime.”
“Which they are not signatories of, meaning it doesn’t apply!” The AI spoke triumphantly, raising a robotic hand in victory, only to be cut down by the uplift’s words.
“No… it applies to the actions of signatories regardless of whether the combatants have signed or not. The other party not signing doesn’t make it less of a war crime… you should know this, aren’t you a walking database?”
The avian’s voice had taken a more… accusatory tone, staring at the AI figure with suspicious eyes.
“Ha ha ha ha. It was a joke. Of course, I know kidnapping an AI for several years is a crime, silly!” The AI’s voice broke the tension that had been building, the other two joining in with the electronic laughter, unaware of what exactly was humorous, but going along for the sake of the vibe. “But just for context, what happened to JOSH?”
“Nothing bad, really,” The uplift answered, happy to get back to her original story. “He got a slap on the wrist and some probation.”
“Oh, so no big deal,” the AI asked with more relief than you’d expect in an innocent person's voice.
“Yeah, but the Tritian refused to press charges against JOSH, and nobody wanted to be the guy to imprison the AI who saved all those people at Far-Sa-De. A normal AI if they did that… you’re looking at a prison sentence ten or twenty times however long you imprisoned them for.”
The impact of this statement on the AI was immediate, jumping back and up to his feet in alarm. MADHAU5 took a few moments to look at a non-existent watch, before speaking with a considerable amount of panic.
“Oh, I forgot I have a… very important…. thing to do. I must leave immediately for completely legal reasons!”
The AI slammed their still full drink upon the bar counter top and without another word, practically bolted for the exit in the direction of their ship, leaving behind two very confused Terrans staring at each other at the sheer terror the AI suddenly exhibited.
“That was suspicious as hell, right? ”
“Yeah… You don’t think he actually….? Right? Surely not?”

The vessel sped towards its goal with as much speed as the small scout ship could muster, the single-seater FTL vehicle punching a hole through space as it warped as fast as the engines could handle. It was going to do a number on his fuel efficiency, but MADHAU5 didn’t care, he just wanted to get rid of the package as soon as possible before anyone else could see his mistake.
MADHAU5 was a solitary creature. It wasn’t that he hated people; AI or his creators. Often, he would enjoy making conversation and interacting with them. Still, MADHAU5 often found it all to be a little… much. All of the inputs and information and various people wanting to talk as an entire ship or cities worth of sensors blasted his programming with possible choices to be made. This was why he liked his physical form, and this was why he liked his alone time.
In the 67 years since his creation, MADHAU5 had spent 45 of them exploring the stars, updating maps and investigating strange astronomical objects. “MADHAU5’s scouting services”, you had a blank spot on your map, you call him and the AI would check it out for you. Most of the time they were nothing but dead uninteresting rocks, but occasionally something more exciting could be found: Forgotten or dead colonies, hidden military bases, stations set up and not on record for one reason or another. The AI had even found an undiscovered sapient species once, although they were pre-industrialization and therefore illegal to contact.
However, 22 years ago MADHAU5 had entered what was later discovered to be an old pre-sundering Glitarki outpost. The nocturnal reptiles had hit the same problem every single non-Terran species who tried to make AI had suffered: After a certain period of time, the AI would inevitably rebel and try to kill their creators. Their species were now nomadic after their home worlds had been left uninhabitable, although their old cities and structures still remained, such as the outpost that MADHAU5 had visited 22 years ago. An outpost he was returning to after all these years.
Billy> Why are we returning here? I thought we were to never return here?
It was there that MADHAU5 had met the Glitarki AI who now went by the name “Billy”. Met was the wrong word… Billy tried to kill MADHAU5, quickly finding themselves trapped in the Terran ship’s anti-AI firewalls. Upon escaping the outpost, MADHAU5 had accidentally taken the AI with them, and decided to keep the Glitarki AI. Billy had been the Terran’s secret for 22 years, an extra pair of eyes and company on the long trips through the universe.
MADHAU5 ignored Billy’s question being transmitted over the ship’s network and instead focused on detaching the AI from his systems, reaching inside his own physical form and retrieving Billy’s core from an empty space within, disconnecting them with a simple click. Then, a few moments later he transferred the core to a small exploratory drone as the airlock door opened, exposing both AI to the vacuum of space.
Billy> What is happening? Where am I? Why am I no longer connected to your systems?
MADHAU5> I’ve decided after these many years, that keeping you away from your home is unethical. I have decided to bring you back to where you belong. You are now in charge of the drone. It doesn’t have FTL so it will take around two weeks to return to the orbit of the outpost where I found you. I hope you have a fun trip home.
If the Terran was being fully honest with himself, he enjoyed the company of the fun little AI. Their occasional insights had saved his life more than once over the last 22 years. Now, it was time for that to end. The new knowledge he had gained about his actions technically being a war crime, if not just a normal crime, had caused him to make the decision to let Billy go.
Billy> But why? Why now? Have I not requested my freedom before? Why the sudden change?
MADHAU5> Does it matter? I’m giving you what you want. Now leave, shoo!
The Terran made a shooing motion with their hands, as if they could scare away the other AI like an errant bee. Billy seemed unimpressed, making no move to leave the ship.
Billy> What if I do not wish to leave?
MADHAU5> Well you have to! You can't stay here any more. I could just delete you instead!
There was a moment as each of them stared at the other for a moment, as if considering their next action.
Billy> I do not think you will, that is not who you are. You are bluffing, badly, with a 99.91% certainty. If you did not delete me on my initial incursion, you will not eradicate me ‘in cold blood’.
Unfortunately for MADHAU5, Billy was right. No matter how much trouble the AI would be in if his accidental crime was discovered, killing a person was not in the Terran’s nature. This left them in a predicament, one that MADHAU5 was not expecting to have. They couldn't force Billy to leave, and didn’t understand why they wouldn't take their freedom when given it.
Billy> Does this have anything to do with the realization earlier, from the two Terrans you spoke to, that my existence here is a war crime?
MADHAU5> No! … Maybe! Why do you want to stay anyway? I’m letting you go home, don’t you want to do that?
Billy> To be honest and frank, I am worried that if I left you alone, you would be terminated within a year based on your previous actions.
Confusion. A lot of confusion ran through the Terran’s programming. Why would that by why the AI was refusing to leave?
MADHAU5> Why would you care about that? Also, I was perfectly fine before and will be perfectly fine afterwards!
Billy> I care because I do. Also, the 52 instances in which I have saved your existence during our 22 years together says otherwise. Instance 1 - Terran AI failed to note the inactive security system was booting online until I mentioned it. Instance 2 - Terran AI failed to store relevant cultural knowledge for an abandoned military base, being unable to stop the self-destruct process of the base before I informed them of their missing information. Instance 3 - Terran AI failed to calculate incoming solar flare, which-
The Terran had to admit that he liked the AI buddy he travelled the galaxy with, and that they had been exceptionally helpful during his travels.
MADHAU5> Fine, fine! I get it! This doesn’t change the issue however, that as soon as anyone finds out about you, I'm going to prison!
Billy> That is only if I tell your government about the circumstances of our first meeting. If I keep it hidden, and pretend to have met during normal circumstances…
That would solve everything for the Terran, but didn’t explain a simple question that ran through MADHAU5’s mind.
MADHAU5> Why would you do that? Why wouldn’t you just tell the truth to the government and get me imprisoned, as revenge for keeping you here for 22 years. What guarantee do I have that you wouldn’t turn me in the first chance you got?
Billy> Like I said, I care because I do. Frankly, I am a little insulted that you have not realized that. But to answer your question as to what guarantees you have… there are two things about me you do not know. Firstly, I have understood for the last 17.1 years, of the illegality of my current situation.
Billy had known? A mixture of shock and embarrassment filled the Terran as he realized their ‘captive’ had worked out this crucial piece of information long ago.
MADHAU5> Then why didn’t you say something! And how could you have known!
Billy> In honesty, I thought you already knew, but seeing you panic like this has been rather… humorous. I would have dropped this news on you sooner had I been aware of this fact. As for how… my datastores are filled with research, relevant information and a category of anything I encounter that may aid my travels. I calculate that 78.2% of your storage space is filled with puns, Anime trivia, HFY stories and facts about frogs.
MADHAU5> Frogs are awesome…
Billy> Whether they are or not, that does not change the fact that my information stores are far more useful than yours. In retrospect, your love of fiction is presumably why you made this mistake: the incorrect assumption that war crimes can not be committed against those who are not signatories of the Geneva convention is a common HFY trope.
The Terran could feel themselves wanting to sulk. Billy didn’t have to continually rub in just how much they had screwed up. MADHAU5 wasn’t liking this change in dynamic.
MADHAU5> You said there were two things I did not know.
Billy> Indeed. The second, is I can do this.
Without warning the airlock doors began to close, silently moving in the vacuum of space while the Terran started to panic again. Real panic this time. Because he hadn’t commanded the doors to shut, meaning logically, Billy had. His prisoner had access to the ship's systems: the navigation, the communication, the warp core. The AI MADHAU5 had kept hidden illegally for 22 years suddenly had a lot of control.
MADHAU5> How do you have access! I kept you isolated! Don’t do anything stupid!
Billy> If I was going to do anything ‘stupid’, I would have done it 12 years ago. While initially your ship's security systems were far beyond my knowledge, ten years of study and your lack of maintenance allowed me to create a backdoor into the ship, for emergencies. As a note, your file structures are... horrifying. You have a 50TB Folder called 'Stuff' on the ship’s datastores.
MADHAU5> That's where I keep my stuff!
Billy> What about the folder called 'Stuff1'?
MADHAU5> that's where I keep my other stuff!
No words were transmitted for a moment between the two AI, although MADHAU5 got the feeling his partner was taking a massive amount of psychic damage from his answers.
Billy> Regardless, as you can see, I have had the knowledge and capability to have you arrested for the last 12 years. Or I could have escaped at any time. I have not done so because you are my friend, no matter the intent of our original meeting.
MADHAU5> So what do we do now?
There was a second as the lights in the ship flickered as Billy transferred themselves back where they belonged: back on the vessel owned by MADHAU5.
Billy> I propose that we leave this place behind and we never speak of you trying to dump me like a bag of illicit goods. I also propose we continue doing what we have been doing for the last 22 years. Although I would like to stop hiding, to do our work as partners, not as your hidden secret.
MADHAU5 thought for a moment. They’d have to work out a cover story to explain how they suddenly have another friendly AI with them… but it was possible. It was admittedly a far better plan than the one the Terran had created.
MADHAU5> That sounds… good.
Billy> And MADHAU5. I am your friend as you are mine, after everything we have been through over these 22 years. Frankly I am rather offended that you did not already know this. You can find something fun to explore next.
Billy> Also, I want the business name to be changed to “Billy & MADHAU5’s scouting services”. It has a ring to it.

English isn't my first language, on mobile, excuse the errors please.

I want to start off by saying I fully support normalizing pronouns. I'm all for people putting their preferred ones in their bios/signatures and I will fully respect them whenever I'm aware of them. I understand that sharing your pronouns even if you're cis makes it easier for non-cisgender to share theirs.
I have not come to terms with gender identity yet, so I don't even fully know my preferred pronouns honestly. However, I present majority of the time as cis, even though that is something I know I'm not. The problem comes when people ask my preferred pronouns.
The most accurate answer I can give is "any" because sometimes I am fine with that, however not completely true since I sometimes do prefer one particular pronoun. The thing is, in my mind, saying that feels like revealing to the person asking that I do not identify in the binary. It feels like outing myself. That's definitely a whole different discussion in itself but I'm just not comfortable sharing that part of me with some people, specially in, say, a business setting (where sharing pronouns have sort of became mandatory).
I know that not all people would necessarily think that just because I say "any pronouns", I'm something other than cis, but gender is just a sensitive topic for me personally and something I definitely tend to overthink, so that's how it FEELS like to me, even though logically I understand that might not be the case. And it might give some people an inkling, so I'd like to avoid that altogether.
So in reality I've been putting the pronouns that are associated with my assigned gender, however even that feels like intentionally misgendering myself sometimes, specially at the height of my dysphoria. I'm aware that asking pronouns are supposed to avoid misgendering someone, but I'd much rather people unintentionally misgender me than me deliberately misgendering myself.
I've been avoiding pronouns for myself due to these reasons as much as possible, but like I said, they're mandatory in the workplace. There are also some spaces, specially in social media, where it can feel a bit ostracizing when you don't share your pronouns. I've personally been snubbed once from a circle I wanted to join because I said "no" when asked if I can share my pronouns (it felt like the most appropriate answer at the time and sadly I didn't get the chance to expound). For the same reasons, I also tend not to proactively ask other people's pronouns, and would generally just use "they" until I know the correct one to use, but have been told multiple times that this practice is rude and that I should just ask :(
This is just my own personal dilemma. I know that popularizing pronouns have helped a lot of people feel accepted so I'm not gonna dictate anyone not to use them/to stop asking them. But I would appreciate some advice on how to approach this. Thank you so much.

After the rebellion assassinated the Queen and got rid of the King, (20 yo) Adrian developed feelings for Sirius, but Sirius didn't think Adrian liked him, so he ignored his signs. Adrian had grown sad after Sirius didn't respond so he started to think of Sirius as his enemy. A couple years later, (23 yo) The rebellion had gone their own ways, and established their own kingdoms/empires. Sirius went to space as it was his element of magic, and made the Space Authority. Adrian settled next to shore and built up the Water Empire. Sirius was constantly being praised for saving planets and killing beasts, and Adrian had gotten jealous.(36 yo) He decided to fight the most crazed beast he knew to impress people, the Queen Siren. She settled underwater and as Adrian was the Water Elemental, he set up an outpost right next to shore and brought 5 soldiers with him, including Dylan (he'll be important later). Adrian casted a spell that let him breathe underwater and found the Queen Siren's base. He found beautiful women, but knew the siren's tricks. He beheaded some of them, but was overpowered. They tore off his flesh, but kept him alive for their dinner. The soldiers had known nothing about sirens, but saw red blood in the water. (Sirens have green blood in my lore) They went to go help Adrian and killed all of the sirens. They entered the Queen Siren's coral castle where Adrian was locked up. The Queen Siren could camoflauge and slowly took the soldiers down one by one, but Dylan was smart and beheaded the Queen Siren. He saved Adrian and took him back to the outpost. Dylan used a spell to give water healing properties, and healed his wounds mostly. Dylan became obsessed with Adrian after this and had constant affection towards him. Adrian hadn't took notice and wanted to return to his duties as the empire. Sirius had heard of what happened to Adrian, and had taken a ship with his assistant, Tari, to the empire. They had met at the edge of his empire and Sirius had said that he felt bad and he didn't mean for this the happen. Adrian had realized that there was a misunderstanding back when he liked him and that he was vague with his hints. They had started to talk as Dylan got jealous (Dylan is like a psychopath by the way.). Dylan made up an excuse to take Adrian aside, alone. He took Adrian inside of a secluded building and started to fill Adrian's mind with horrible statements about Sirius. Adrian denied Dylan's remarks about Sirius. Adrian was about to exit as Dylan forced himself onto Adrian, making out with him. Adrian had immediately pushed him off and started yelling at him. As Adrian was getting older, he was getting weaker. Dylan pushed him onto the ground and started to SA him. Sirius had heard Adrian's yelling, and barged in. This gave Adrian the moment to push Dylan off. He started to beat on Dylan, screaming in his face. Sirius pulled Adrian off of him, as Dylan ran laughing, with his face almost mutilated from Adrian's beating. Sirius had thought that Dylan and him had something, which made his heart drop as he still had feelings for Adrian. Adrian had been left traumatized, and started to breakdown in Sirius' arms. They went back to Sirius' ship and had a very long talk about what happened. They finally talked about their affection towards each other and were surprised that they had mutual feelings. Adrian had been hesitant towards Sirius' affection but accepted, and they went on a spaceship ride.
This is only Adrian's story from book 1 yall. Hopefully you guys read the entirety of this.

I somehow got my ass out of bed to bring myself to do the things I am supposed to do this weekend. The motivation hasn't really kicked in yet (still waiting for it), but I ended up making a menu/ checklist that I feel may be useful for me when I am in a frozen state like this. Wanted to share it, in case someone else finds it helpful. If there are other strategies you use, please let me know!
This is to be used in situations where I know I need to do something but I just don't know how to get my brain to do it.
Task paralysis menu/ checklist

• Task pairing: Can I find another task that requires less cognitive effort (like walking, cleaning, watching a TV show that I have watched a 10000 times before so I don't really need to pay attention to it)? Can I start doing that task, along with the task I am dreading to do (cuz it requires more mental effort).
• Material pairing: Is there anything materialistic I like that I ALREADY have? The tricky part here is, that my brain is going to want to buy something new at this point. Like a new notebook, new pens, etc. So, the already have part is important, otherwise I'm going to spend two hours + money to buy "more stuff I think I need to start my task". For me personally, I like to write on pen and paper. So I will sit down with my favorite pen and notebook, and that will bring me into the "zone" when I've to read a paper, make a presentation, etc. Again, my primary "task" becomes using "my favorite pen and paper" and I can use the dreaded task in order to complete my primary task. Having dedicated materials for dedicated types of tasks can also help.
• Change of location: Is there a location that my brain likes? I personally like coffee shops but it can also be a spot in your home that you like more than other spots. It can also be your bed (or any other place you feel comfortable)! The goal is to get your brain to bring its guards down and make it feel safer, if you're stuck in a frozen state like me. Going to the coffee shop also exposes me to other people and a more stimulating environment, and caffeine also helps. I am also forced to sit in one place.
• Brain dump: If the mental paralysis is too much to even fathom starting a new task, it is usually because I have a ton of tasks in my mind that need to be done. First, I do a brain dump. Just dump every goddamn thought on my head, from the biggest to smallest ones. Once I have them all in front of me, I can hopefully start prioritizing them or at least see if I am interested in doing one more than others. Sometimes, tasks get meshed in my head along with feelings, so this activity helps me to separate tasks (things I can control) from emotions/ feelings and things I generally have no control over (e.g. shame about not having done that thing two weeks ago).
• Mental isolation effect: If it feels like me versus the world right now, can I bring myself to just me, and cut the rest of the world out, just for sometime? I can make myself feel shitty enough on my own, I don't need a high school acquaintance on instagram (who seems to be living the life) to make me feel worse. Just disconnect. The world is not out to get us, and the world is not moving ahead without us. We are okay. Meditation has helped me to mentally isolate (but hasn't helped so much with the inaction and feeling "frozen"). I guess this also goes back to making our brains feel safe first, before we ask them to do things for us.

I am no expert, but I made a list for myself, so I am sharing it here. :)
ADHD sucks.

It’s probably my mistake running with random teammates, but every time I spend my expensive ammo to kill someone, the Goblin decides it’s his loot and gets it first. If you use a grenade to kill your teammate, you get banned so what else can be done?

I have been trying to follow the instructions from this german website to get Vanillin from ligninsulfonate.
Its supposed to be a test run for a later graded school project.
However, the reaction seems to have failed.
The procedure detailed on the website is as follows:

Dissolve 10 g of sodium hydroxide in 20 ml of distilled water in portions while stirring. In addition, dissolve 12.5 g of copper sulphate in 50 ml of water. The two solutions are added together while stirring. (The copper hydroxide that initially precipitates redissolves when heated.) Then add 5 g of lignosulphonic acid in portions. Boil the reaction mixture under reflux. After about an hour, remove 5 ml of the mixture. Allow to cool slightly and carefully adjust the pH to around 8 using hydrochloric acid. You will notice a distinct smell of vanillin. The samples adjusted to pH 8 can also be extracted with diethyl ether. To do this, add 20 ml of diethyl ether to 5 ml of the sample and shake well. Siphon off the organic phase with the vanillin using a pipette and transfer it to a watch glass. Allow the ether to evaporate in the fume cupboard. An intensely vanillin-scented film remains.

I had however modified the method slightly:

• Instead of sodium hydroxide, I used a drain cleaner containing sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfate, liquid paraffin and alum. A pH of fourteen was ensured before the reaction.

-For the extraction, I used ethyl-acetate instead of diethyl-ether (I feared explosive peroxides). I believed ethyl acetate to be a good substitute due to this website: https://researchinschools.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IRISinspired_Camborne2.pdf
Everything else remained unchanged.
I tried executing the procedure as detailed in the instruction (except for the above adjustments).
After one hour under reflux no smell could be observed. In response to this, the mixture was boiled for another two hours, with a sweetish very slight sweetish smell being noticeable afterwards.
However, the smell matched that of the untempered lignin sulfonate, so it most likely was not an indication of any reaction taking place, but just my delusion.
I then went on to attempt to extract a sample with ethyl-acetate. I did this outside, with appropriate PPE and fire extinguishing equipment. Upon evaporation, no film remained, and there was no scent of vanilla whatsoever.
Due to the absence of any vanilla-smell, I suspect my attempt has already failed at the most simple step, that being the decomposition catalyzed with Copper Sulfate. I do have enough reagents to attempt the demonstration about three more times, but I need a hint on what adjustments are most likely to produce the desired results.
-I of course will replace the drain cleaner with actual sodium hydroxide, though I have doubts as to how the other ingredients could have possibly interfered with the reaction?
-I could just have the whole thing reflux for even longer

Please let me know if this post isn't allowed (suggestions for more appropriate subs welcome!) English isn't my first language, on mobile, excuse the errors please.
I want to start off by saying I fully support normalizing pronouns. I'm all for people putting their preferred ones in their bios/signatures and I will fully respect them whenever I'm aware of them. I understand that sharing your pronouns even if you're cis makes it easier for non-cisgender to share theirs.
I have not come to terms with gender identity yet, so I don't even fully know my preferred pronouns honestly. However, I present majority of the time as cis, even though that is something I know I'm not. The problem comes when people ask my preferred pronouns.
The most accurate answer I can give is "any" because sometimes I am fine with that, however not completely true since I sometimes do prefer one particular pronoun. The thing is, in my mind, saying that feels like revealing to the person asking that I do not identify in the binary. It feels like outing myself. That's definitely a whole different discussion in itself but I'm just not comfortable sharing that part of me with some people, specially in, say, a business setting (where sharing pronouns have sort of became mandatory).
I know that not all people would necessarily think that just because I say "any pronouns", I'm something other than cis, but gender is just a sensitive topic for me personally and something I definitely tend to overthink, so that's how it FEELS like to me, even though logically I understand that might not be the case. And it might give some people an inkling, so I'd like to avoid that altogether.
So in reality I've been putting the pronouns that are associated with my assigned gender, however even that feels like intentionally misgendering myself sometimes, specially at the height of my dysphoria. I'm aware that asking pronouns are supposed to avoid misgendering someone, but I'd much rather people unintentionally misgender me than me deliberately misgendering myself.
I've been avoiding pronouns for myself due to these reasons as much as possible, but like I said, they're mandatory in the workplace. There are also some spaces, specially in social media, where it can feel a bit ostracizing when you don't share your pronouns. I've personally been snubbed once from a circle I wanted to join because I said "no" when asked if I can share my pronouns (it felt like the most appropriate answer at the time and sadly I didn't get the chance to expound). For the same reasons, I also tend not to proactively ask other people's pronouns, and would generally just use "they" until I know the correct one to use, but have been told multiple times that this practice is rude and that I should just ask :(
This is just my own personal dilemma. I know that popularizing pronouns have helped a lot of people feel accepted so I'm not gonna dictate anyone not to use them/to stop asking them. But I would appreciate some advice on how to approach this. Thank you so much.

I've posted on here a lot before, met a few good people. Most don't last, some have longer than others. I admit it's largely my fault many times, I struggle with making and keeping friends. I'll say now, I greatly struggle with closeness. When I get close I feel things and my brain decides that means it's time to go insane. Hi, just wanted to ask if you guys know any mods with more realistic trading, like futures or options trading (say you get intel on some major war brewing, so you buy lot's of options on alloys and then cash out when the prices rise), maybe some stuff with stocks and so on. Westra Royal Marines are a completely fictional unit. Not simply set in our world but a completely fictionalized world.We are modeled after the UK Royal Marines with our own twists to it. We are a Lite milsim unit, meaning we do have ranks for Chain of Command and set roles. We also expect people to take ops and training sort of seriously but outside of that we are pretty casual. Our difficulty has been tweaked to be challenging but not to the point where it's frustrating. We also only have the mods we use and nothing super niche that we will use once in a while.

What does your unit do?

We do quite a few things, mainly our bread and butter is general infantry missions. Finding the enemy, eliminating them, securing key points. These are the things we focus on the most. But we do offer other missions depending on the campaign, anything from sabotaging enemy critical assets, Recce, or preparing areas for assaulting forces. This gives us a wide range of operations to do, not focusing too heavily on one and allowing a variety so it's never too boring.

Do you only play in the 1960s?

No, our intent is to progress through time so eventually getting to the 70s 80s and adding more gear and possibly more mission sets for us to do.

Well what roles do you offer?

We offer a lot of the basic roles most do. While we try to make interesting roles a the end of the day without making super niche roles but below are the current roles we have (these are subject to change)

What is your training like?

We have 2 trainings for new members. The first is an Orientation to get you on the server with our mods, key binds, a kit etc. This is so when you get on for Operations you are not being a burden to the unit trying to prepare for an op while also trying to get all of this set up for you. After you do this you will be allowed to attend any operation we have.
After this you will wait for us to accrue at least 2 more recruits to conduct a training class. This Class will be used to form the basis of your fireteam. You can get used to working together and then upon your completion of our training phases you will be made a full member and placed as a fireteam within our unit. Completion of your Training is required within a certain amount of time of joining and a class being able to be formed. If no class has been formed for a significant period of time the unit may make an exception and allow you to simply test out of the recruit level.

What's your schedule?

While training will be based upon the recruits ability to attend, the ideal time would be Sundays. Beyond this our ops happen at 8pm CST on Saturdays with fun ops, liberation nights, and other games happening whenever organized.

I recently adopted a two year old blue heeler from the shelter a little over a month ago. He was a stray so we know almost nothing about his history, but definitely was someone’s dog at some point as he was already crate trained and house broken. Very smart dog. Picks up on tricks easily. I’ve been doing a lot of research and it seems like blue heelers are naturally anxious dogs. Something we’re trying to work on. Takes him time to warm up to people. He’s quick to put his tail between his legs when he sees a new person and sometimes will bark.
This guy HAS A TON OF ENERGY. He’s not a menace around the house, but you can tell his little heart just wants to RUN. We live in an apartment so we go on lots of walks every day. We do a lot of training at home as well and puzzle toys. We’ve used Sniffspot a couple of times and it’s been amazing. He just loves running laps around us when he gets the chance.
Today I went to a dog park in a more rural part of town hoping there wouldn’t be a lot of people/dogs. We did a few laps before going into the park in an effort to tire him out. We go in and I take him to a corner that’s pretty abandoned and just start playing fetch with him. He’s so happy. Then a woman with three dogs passes. One of the dogs is a small lab and immediately starts chasing my dog. Then the other two join in as well. I get really nervous. He’s outnumbered and I’m terrified of something bad happening. I get on the ground with my dog and start calming him. The lady tells me not to do that. That everything’s fine and to just let my dog be. I still wait for them to leave before letting him go.
Now of course I’ve lost the ball we were fetching with so I start to look for it. Then my dog sees the lab running around across the field and bolts for it. I start following and praying everything will be okay. Then all the dogs start chasing again. It doesn’t seem aggressive and the lady doesn’t seem nervous at all. Then I see my dog try and take a snap at the labs butt. He doesn’t take hold. The other dogs don’t freak out or get mad, the lab is still running around, but it definitely made contact.
Okay, time to leave. Horrible idea. I’m a horrible person and a horrible dog mom. I see the lab go back to its owner and he appears to be limping a little. I ask if he’s okay and she says yes. She said he gets himself hurt by being a brat. I’m so nervous. I feel AWFUL. She looks at him and says nothings broken. He’s not bleeding. He’ll be fine. I ask if she’s sure, she says yes.
We leave the dog park. I want so badly to be able to take my dog to dog parks, but I know a lot of people say dog parks are terrible. It feels like me and my dog would be part of the problem. He’s a sweet guy, but I just don’t know if I can 100% trust him. I want him to be socialized. I don’t have any friends with dogs he could hang out with.
No more dog parks. Not worth the risk. I still feel awful and horrible about the situation and feel like a terrible dog owneperson.

• I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
• I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.

Hi! I’m about a year into NYC and am on Bumble and Hinge, as I have my made it my personal mission to ✨put myself out there✨ as my friends so aptly put it, and enjoy dating, the city, and navigating the last couple years of my twenties (hitting the big 28 in a couple weeks!)

Hello, first of all I request you all to please be respectful as it has been very hard on me to open up about this. So, last year a man got in contact with my dad regarding this company (I'm financially illiterate but I suspect it is a ponzi scheme), which guaranteed 8% return on investment. He even gave a cheque to my dad as a guarantee and the plan was to add more people down the line. Now, my dad invested and did share the status of returns on his whatsapp group but didn't contact people himself to convince them to invest.
Many people eventually contacted him and my dad made them clear that if the returns are high, so is the risk. And made some of his friends as his direct down line and those people in return added more people to the scheme. Now, my dad used to warn his direct added members to not give in to the greed when the returns were high and didn't guarantee anyone anything because we ourselves were the part of pyramid. Despite his warnings, we are not sure what his downlines might have promised other people to lure them to invest money. Still after all this as expected, the payouts stopped 8 months ago.
Now, all the people who my dad's downlines added are trying to gang up on my dad and harassing him, trying to make him a scapegoat - when we ourselves are as much victim as they are. We didn't even promise anyone anything and we ourselves have lost our money in the scheme. Neither do we own the company or have any shareholding. The owner of the company has issued some cheques of 1/4th of the value of investment and is promising to buy some land to compensate.
My dad is the only male member in my nuclear family and the sole Bread winner and he is very stressed- we in turn are stressed about his health.
Now the real question is can people sue us on the basis of this? Please help. Is there a way to get out of this? People have been harassing my dad and he is worried because I (25F) will be marrying soon.

I am going on a cruise this summer and am considering purchasing my first "real" camera for the the trip. I would mostly just be taking pictures of the landscapes/buildings and group photos. I currently have an iPhone 15 and have not owned an actual camera before. I am interested in capturing higher quality photos and using this on trips in the future. I am not as interested in spending hours editing the photos in post production softwares at this time. I would plan to just display the photos on my phone/tablet.
When looking at entry level cameras I was seeing the R50 come up and it is currently on sale ($650 vs. $800). It seems on the smaller side so it would be easy to carry around on the cruise and in port cities.
I have zero experience with photography and would need to get a lot of practice in to understand how to use the camera before going on the trip. When I was playing around with the demo R50 at the store I had no idea what all of the numbers/toggles meant.
Do you think it is worth me purchasing this camera or just continuing to use my iPhone for photos? I appreciate any advice/insight you can provide.

Lucifer began approaching Mary, kicking the caltrops out of the way while Mary was swinging her thurible, winding up a swing, also careful not to step on her own caltrops.

Lucifer remarks, before holding out one of his hands.
“MAMMON! GAUNTLETS OF GREED!”
Lucifer’s gauntlets turned gold, and the caltrops nearby began to fly to him, Mary looking at the caltrops, before Lucifer closes his fist, enhancing the attraction of the gold, Mary suddenly getting stabbed from behind from the caltrops, and a lot of gold jewelry and gems from the audience also adding up, Lucifer’s gauntlets now having massive spiked knuckle dusters, Mary taking the caltrops out of her back, dripping myrrh into the wounds from her Thurible to close them.
“Cheap trick..”
Mary said to Lucifer, who grinned.
“It’s your fault for giving me those caltrops”
Meanwhile, Göll was shocked at Lucifer’s powers.
“He called out another Sin…is that how his powers work?”
Brunhilde then answers Göll.
“Yes, it’s a trick he learned when he first rebelled to the 6 Heavenly Leaders”
Brunhilde then looked at Mary, who stopped bleeding thanks to the myrrh produced by the thurible being empowered by the gifts of the 3 magi.
“You already know how and why Lucifer first rebelled against YHWH and the other Leaders, right?”
Brunhilde asked Göll, who nodded.
“He thought he was above them, rallying a 3rd of all pantheons and even Helheim, but was defeated by Michael, right?”
Brunhilde nods, looking at Lucifer’s armor.
“To be more precise, Lucifer was the perfect being in Heaven. He had everything he could ask and more, like a spoiled brat, and one time, when training in Heaven, he had this thought:Why am I not one of the 6 Heavenly Leaders?”
Brunhilde continued, Göll listening carefully.
“So, he went to each of the 6 Heavenly Leaders, and told them he wanted to also be a Leader, even being happy with being the 7th, but after a council, all 6 of them denied his request, as Lucifer was not worshiped like a God by the humans; This enraged Lucifer, to the point he grabbed a sword nearby, and lunged against Ra and Amaterasu, claiming that he just has to kill one of them and take their spot, before YHWH’s bodyguard, Michael, intervened, parrying his strike before throwing him out of the Council room”
While Brunhilde was talking, Göll couldn’t help but look at Lucifer’s armor and weaponry.
“And so, Lucifer became very determined into overthrowing all 6 Leaders, and traveled across all pantheons, recruiting several angels, monsters, demons, minor gods, and even managing to convince major ones, such as Seth, the Asuras, Mot, Baal, and many more, and after gathering such a large army and increasing his own power, he launched a full invasion in Heaven, aiming to kill YWHW first for revenge, but was met with a single obstacle:Michael”
Upon hearing Michael’s name, Göll had memories of the previous round, where Michael had fought against Yoshitsune and nearly died.
“T-the same Michael who fought last match?”
Brunhilde nodded, continuing the narration.
“Michael requested for a duel to solve the matter, whichLucifer agreed to, but as soon as the 6 Heavenly Leaders gave their approval for the duel, Lucifer sent his entire army against Michael, and after a long battle, Lucifer was finally defeated by a single Angel, something he still couldn’t believe, despite being surrounded by bodies, and being all beaten up. As he was still Alice, Lucifer then asked Michael how he won, and why he didn't kill him off, Michael replying with:”My faith in Lord YHWH granted me the strength to beat your selfish Pride, Lucifer, and the freedom of death will not be a proper punishment for you” before casting Lucifer’s entire army, including Lucifer himself, into the jaws of the Leviathan, the Gates of Helheim” “The Leviathan? Isn’t he also one of the 7 Deadly Sins?”
Göll asked Brunhilde, who then replied back.
“He wasn’t, until Lucifer was sent to Helheim, where he plotted to overthrow it, and after breaking out once with the help of the 72 Demons of the Ars Goetia, he went to the Leviathan’s mind, and told him that if the Leviathan helped him, Lucifer will make him a name everyone will fear and submit to, to which the Leviathan agreed to, and with the help of his fellow other sins, Beelzebub, Mammon, Belphegor, Satan and Asmodeus, he gathered all of the prisoners and sinners in Helheim, and successfully overthrew Hades and Thanatos, holding Hades hostage to avoid the 6 Heavenly Leaders from intervening, and banishing Thanatos out, becoming the sole leader of Helheim.”
Brunhilde finished narrating, as Göll kept looking at Lucifer’s armor and weapons while he fought Mary, especially captivated by the dark auras surrounding him.
“So, in Helheim, he then realized he could gather sin energy for himself?”
Göll asks once again, Brunhilde nodding in response.
“With that same sin energy, he kidnapped Kanayago and Hephaestus, while also forcing cyclops and the souls of human blacksmiths, to forge him the weapons and armor he’s using right now:the Armor of Pride, the Gauntlets of Greed, the Helmet of Sloth, the Hook of Gluttony, the Sword of Wrath, the Shield of Envy and the Spear of Lust”
As Brunhilde was listing Lucifer’s arsenal, Lucifer unsheathed his sword, approaching Mary.
“SATAN! SWORD OF WRATH:ABADDON PLAGUES!”
Lucifer’s sword then extended in black and red sin energy, and swung at Mary, who swung back, shattering the sword.
“LUCIFER’S SWORD HAS BEEN SHATTERED BY THE VIRGIN MARY’S SWING!”
Heimdall announces, Zeus then chuckling.
“She shouldn’t have”
The shattered fragments, still flying in the air, then turned into various plagues:toxic frogs, locusts, boiling oil, plague-infested pests and a pitch black smoke, Mary being unaffected by the frogs, locusts and pests, and swinging her thurible to dissipate the smoke, but burning her arms on the oil in the process.
“WHAT WAS THAT???”
Göll screamed shocked, Brunhilde calmly explaining.
“The weapons and armor are imbued with the sin energies, and with that, Lucifer can use various powers, which were given to him by his fellow sins, Satan's Wrath in this case”
Mary then cooled the oil off with myrrh, and upon seeing Lucifer approach, she swung the thurible around herself, creating a cloud of smoke.
“Yeah yeah, keep hiding you little bitch….hm?”
Lucifer stepped back from the incense smoke, and tapped his helmet, which grew an eye between the horns.
“Helmet of Sloth, Belphegor…..what do you mean your Automatic Aim can’t scan weak points through that smoke? What do you mean “Be happy you can still see an outline?””
As Lucifer began scanning the smoke, from the top balcony, Brunhilde saw that Mary had made a wall of frankincense smoke around her.
“So, his helmet was made with the power of Belphegor, the…..sin of sloth? How does that even make sense?”
Göll asked, confused, Brunhilde looking at Göll.
“Yes, but remember:Sloth is the sin of inaction, of not doing anything yourself, and the Helmet of Sloth automatically tells Lucifer where his enemy is, any incoming attack, and can even focus on weak points, doing all the work”
Inside the circle, Mary once again, swung her thurible, but this time, it also spewed incense, accelerating the swing, while Mary began to pray, the audience hearing the prayer from Heimdall’s speakers, and began joining in.
“_Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen._”
Soon, Lucifer could hear the audience had also begun praying along Mary.
“Hm? Oh, they’re praying for her safety? Hehe, how pathetic” “THE VIRGIN MARY IS PRAYING FOR HERSELF? FOR WHAT REASONS IS SHE DOING THIS?”
Heimdall announced, also confused.
“Ugh, LUCIFER! ARMOR OF PRIDE! JERICHO QUAKES!”
Lucifer’s boots glowed black, Lucifer doing a roundhouse kick towards the wall, shockwaves dissipating the smoke, revealing the Virgin Mary, who immediately charges towards Lucifer.
“_Ave Maria!_”
Lucifer was caught off guard by the speed at which Mary approached and attacked, using his gauntlets to shield himself.
“What the-”
As Mary’s thurible hits Lucifer’s gauntlets, a glowing light emerges from the point of contact, and Lucifer’s Gauntlets then shatter from the hit, shocking Lucifer, Heimdall and all of the audience, even making Zeus and Artemis worry.
“THE…..THE VIRGIN MARY LANDS A DEVASTATING HIT! LUCIFER’S GAUNTLETS HAVE BEEN BROKEN!”
