2024.05.19 11:52 Acrobatic_Primary962 31F lover of cozy looking for snail mail penpal!

Hi! I'm 31F from Slovenija. As a kid, I enjoyed sending letters back and forth with my cousin, so I'd like to start doing it again.
My current top 3 hobbies are reading (an all time favourite, actually), crochet, and balcony gardening. I'm chronically ill and live in a small flat that I'm slowly trying to transform into a cozy cottage, mostly with thrifted and gifted used items, although I am occasionally tempted by an item in a store. I like to live an environmentally friendly life, and am also vegan. If I could be anything, I'd choose to be the grandma who always makes everyone feel warm and welcome in her home.
I enjoy slow living and on warm days, you'll find me on my balcony, lovingly tending to my veggies or napping in the sun. I also enjoy other "homesteady" things, like making my own vinegar and sauerkraut. I'm currently soaking elderflowers to make syrup.
I've been in a committed relationship for almost a decade. We have an elderly doggo, adopted from a shelter. No kids. One of my best friends is over 90 years old.
If you'd like to be penpals, please drop me a message or a comment. Looking forward to hearing from you!

2024.05.19 11:51 Ilijin I was offer a post to build application around General Ledger using XML, XSLT, CSV and SQL, is it worth it knowing AI might tackle those task in the near future?

Here is the link to the post. It's one of the big company in Mauritius, they pay well but you work very odd hours. For this job its from 5pm to 2am so that I can work with American and Canadian.
So a bit of context, I'm familiar with XML and SQL as I'm work as a SAPUI5 developer and build DB for side projects. I have like 2 years of experience in it and wanted a career change in the Software development World as SAPUI5 is pretty a dead end in my country.
I going to be interviewed this Monday for the above post but I'm a bit perplexed about the opportunity as from what the recruiter said, I will just build application to read their general ledger and do outputs as per client requirement which from what the department I'm currently working with, they are planning to train model to do basically similar thing.
Another thing that puzzled me, is the job was posted since January this year and they still ask me to interview for it.
Let say I ace the interview and got the job (still a big if at this point), is it worth it? I'm basically need a job for the next two years to come before moving to France.

2024.05.19 11:50 stragomccloud Ever wonder what the story of the game would be like if all the DLC and anime were integrated into the game? Well I made an edit that does that!

So... I love Final Fantasy XV, but it was obviously not without its flaws. Too much of the story was segmented Across various DLC and media. I was curious thinking about what it would be like if all the DLC was integrated into the game's main story and the perspective shifted throughout for pacing reasons. Well, I am very late to post in here, but I decided I might as well share it(5 years after making this lol). I spent two months recording and editing content from the PC version of the game, and created a game movie by remixing a lot of the content back into the game. Even taking some credit scenes and overlaying them into the game when appropriate.
I switched out certain segments of alternate scenes from episode ignus in order to give better performances in some scenes. The pre prep work for this took a couple weeks and the recording and all of the editing took me about 2 months of work, but I'm pretty happy with my results.
Note that obviously for copyright reasons I don't have the anime episodes directly in the videos, and have instead just created a playlist with the official videos as part of the list. Now, for my own personal copy, I actually did in fact wreck the Blu Rays and did some editing to make the flow work and I actually have made versions with the Anime included, though I won't be sharing those online.
In any case, if anyone wants to watch a movie version of FFXV with ALL content integrated, here is my work! Though.... please be aware that with some scenes where I added text, I may not have left it on the screen long enough to read completely at times. haha

2024.05.19 11:49 Idontknowhatsmyname My ex dumped me for his ex. Need some insight.

Hi guys, I wanted some insight from you guys because maybe you men could understand what he was thinking when this happened.
So I was dating my now ex for 2 years. I was going to meet up with him this Tuesday because we were going to go to a festival, and then I was going to sleep over at his house. I know he had been in contact with his ex for a while but he told me not to worry, and that he was going to break off all contact with her. When he got home from work on Tuesday, he texted me that his ex-girlfriend had suddenly shown up unexpectedly and unannounced at his place as a "surprise". Some hours later I received a text from him saying "I am leaving you, I am sorry" and since then we haven´t talked.
I am so confused about everything! How did he change his mind so fast and why? Will he regret this in the future?
Thanks for reading and thank you in advance.

2024.05.19 11:49 AdSad7184 Cow Milk Beauty Soap

Hey guys! Just wanted to share this beauty soap I recently started using over 2 weeks ago. For some reason I cannot share the image here but if you look up Cow Milk Beauty Soap from Japan, you'll see a red soap box with a cow on it, that's what's helped with my eczema issue. I've been dealing with eczema on my fingers for almost 2 years. Cortisone helped temporarily but I'm not consistent with it so my eczema will just dry up, skin will Crack when I make a fist and gets all itchy again. Omg! I honestly thought nothing of the soap. My husband saw it and wanted to try it out so that's what my family and I have been using at home. Today was when I realized that my skin was not dry at all. My cracks on my fingers have healed and when I read up on the soap just a few minutes ago, it said " that it may be helpful to sufferers of skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, and dry skin". You guys!!!! I'm so happy that my husband bought this. I am not going to use any other soap brands anymore. This Cow Milk Beauty Soap is the shit!!!! Give it a try!

2024.05.19 11:49 Own-Month-5263 Advice on masculinity

I quit my job 3 weeks ago as a software analyst. I did so due to a toxic manager that I believe was trying to get me fired for bullshit. So I decided to just leave. I’ve been driving Uber about 50hrs a week and the money is good. I’m going to be downsizing my life to drive less, but for the time being my schedule is killing me. I primarily left to have the freedom to study without stress. However, I already feel the intense exhaustion of adjusting to this new life.
10a-2p: wake up and study 2p-4p: exercise 4p-6p: rest/eat 6p-2a/4a: ride share
This is everyday, 7 days a week. I’m going about this aggressively not to get the job I want and be more attractive, I’m on a strict diet. But rather to get these things to attract and have a relationship with a beautiful woman.
This is the point where it becomes complicated.
From everything I’ve read and experienced about attracting women, my job and physique is partial to my overall attitude. I can be funny, flirtatious, whitty, and supportive, but I find that I get by on these elements for only so long before the women I’m with find me to be a soy boy. A man that lacks masculinity.
Because the sole purpose and goal of my life is to have a family, I find that this grind is making me more humble. This happens to add to the inherent problem of unleashing the unabashed, confident man that women generally want.
Is this even correct? I’m positive if a woman responds to this, I’ll hear the exact opposite and even be chastised for suggesting a generality of this kind. So this question is for the men.
How do I learn how to be the bad boy that can get any girl, even if I don’t have the 100k+ a year job, six pack, and flashy shit? How do I really craft this skill set when I’m so used to being who I am?
I no longer trust who I am because pushes women away, but at the same moment, do I go against my inner nature, almost suppress it, in order to fit this masculine archetype?
I don’t understand how to navigate this and improve on my own masculinity.

2024.05.19 11:49 TotalScykoh Approached by 2 girls at hongik university station

I was just approached by two Korean girls, who started by asking me if I lived/studied here and knew any good places to eat. They were from a neighbouring city.
After I told her I was just travelling she kept asking questions; like where I have been, what I’d like to do here. She also asked questions about if I have traveled before and where; this opened a story of me going on an exchange program.
Most of these questions I answered and threw back at her, to give the quick rundown about her:
This whole conversation took 45 minutes+ everything felt very genuine.
Eventually she starts reading my feelings about who I am, and starts asking difficult questions like; how do you experience life, and what I would like to change about it. There were so many more questions but due to the accent and the crowded streets I found it difficult to understand every 100% correctly.
Alarm bells were already ringing at this point; because of the questions she was asking and the fact one of the two girls hasn’t said a word yet, we were talking for about an hour at this point.
Eventually I state that life just is really flat to me, and don’t experience and ups and downs anymore; she asks why I think that is, and what the last time was that I did.
I give basically no answers because I honestly don’t know.
She then begins to tell about traditional korean ceremony, where they think about their ancestors, write down a wish on a piece of paper, and burn it. (She gave a more in depth and descriptive version of what I said here)
It just happened to that one of those ceremonies one was taking place in about 30-ish minutes and was 30 minutes away by subway.
I declined, after some prodding as to way i decline, I said it was instinct, not wanting them to feel bad, more making it look like I didn’t trust them.
She uses more psychological powers in order to convince me, but I denied again.
She then felt sorry for me that I denied, and asked me that if i were given the option again I would say yes, I promised her I would do so, and went of.
Was this an elaborate scam or did I just deny myself a cool experience?
PS I have experienced being accidentally indoctrinated by a Japanese cult thing
PSS: I hope my lackluster storytelling is understandable.

2024.05.19 11:49 Helpful_Seat_8697 Auditory Feedback Headphones vs Professional Stereo Headphones

My sister asked me to buy this headphone for my nephew who recently underwent a brain surgery.
https://www.amazon.com/VOXii-Auditory-Feedback-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B0CC33CKB7
The product has not many reviews, and i couldn't find any information on the company and brand itself. Searching more on "auditory feedback" headphones, i ended up reading about stereo headphone like Sony MDR7506 and Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT, but i couldn't find any information on their use for improving auditory and sensory processing or brain training. One other product that i found is https://www.forbrain.com/, which also claims to do similar work as the Voxii with an added credibility of having its own dedicated website. I want to buy her an established product.
  1. Is the VOXii product (or the forbrain) same as a stereo headphones, but marketing to a different customer base?
  2. Could a standard and proven stereo headphone serve the same purpose?
  3. The stereo headphones come in a few variations - open air, closed back, open back etc. Is any of these more suitable for my nephew's purpose?

2024.05.19 11:49 OnlyYowie Books you recommend the audiobook over the book?

Saw a post about audiobooks to avoid, and just wanted to flip it around. Ever since Spotify has introduced some free audio books, I’ve been devouring Lord of the Rings, read by Andy Serkis. I had always wanted to read them but the age of the book has been quite to me daunting to me personally. However Serkis’ performance is (to no surprise) absolutely phenomenal. What other books do you feel the reader has gone above and beyond for the audiobook?

2024.05.19 11:49 mister-sushi Hoi allemaal

Hoi allemaal
Hoi verliezers,
I overgrown Duolingo many years ago. I knew how to say “horse eats cheese” and similar nonsense, but this knowledge didn’t help me to understand a news article or a letter from gemeente. So, I created this platform to help me use Dutch in the wild. It is so easy, unobtrusive, and safe that I don’t see a reason not to use it. My wife, friends, and hundreds of people agree with me and find it helpful.
I won’t bullshit you; I’m a dedicated Dutch learner: once a week, I have a 50-minute call with a teacher who explains grammar to me, and we practice talking in Dutch. He types new words in chat, and I add them to my vocably. It takes seconds to create a flashcard, so I don’t get distracted.
The toilet is my primary learning zone. I sit there every morning and swipe my flashcards left and right.
It’s been two years since I started using Vocably. Here are some of my achievements:
  • I’m able to read and understand almost any news article
  • I applied for a passport and handled all of the transactions in Dutch
  • I dealt with a flood problem in my basement with VvE (I called them multiple times and sent numerous emails) - all in Dutch
I’d be happy if you tried Vocably and let me know how it feels and where it needs improvement.
However, Vocably is not for everyone. If you don’t have a clear language goal like reading news, watching videos, or speaking with people in Dutch, then Vocably is not for you, and that’s okay.
Please don’t give me too much shit for this post. I’m too sensitive.

I was just reading a very good smut fic and everything was going well until the writer referred to a dick as a "Wintery meat". I've heard lots of bad words for cock before but this is probably the most bizarre.
It even tops that one time an author referred to a penis as a "corporation". Couldn't even finish that fic because they just kept doing it

2024.05.19 11:48 Nancy48236 Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review

Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review
Ordering a scooter online is a bit of a risky adventure, especially when you review the terms and conditions and the return policy. But, you have to agree to it in able to place the order. Less risky is buying at a dealer, but you pay a significant premium for the product. I've read horror stories online about folks receiving junk and even non-operating scooters. That is a possiblity, and with the terms to which you agree, very risky.
We were lucky, though, with Family Go Carts (FGK) and the Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters.
I ordered, online, two Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters from FGK - one for me, one for my husband - on May 1,2024. We received the scooters on 5/18/2024. Considering US shipping demand, that is a reasonable time to delivery. The lady at FGK who called me to coordinate the delivery was kind, and gave instructions on how to receive and prepare for the first run (ie. Change oil - upon arrival, the engine has shipping oil in it).
Shipping: "Free", but you have to pay access fee and lift-gate fee. Not too bad considering how shipping rates have skyrocketed in the last few years.
She asked for our second choice in colors. Thankfully, we got our first choice - light blue and white for me and black and white for my husband.
Unpackaging: Remove cardboard (there's no bottom to the cardboard). Just cut down the cardboard at any one of the corners, then walk around the steel skeleton shipping cage. Then you'll take off the top of the steel shipping skeleton. Undo all bolts and nuts on the bottom. You'll a;sp have to undo the two bolts on the top that attack the steering column fork to the steel cage. Then, just tip off the cage on one end, and continue tipping it off to the other end.
Assembly: No instructions for it. Some assembly is a no-brainer, but the handlebars and front wheel require explanation. Thankfully, someone posted a video on the assembly of Trailmaster Milano: https://youtu.be/rMyJEkH3b4U?si=VRcDlm2-jIvNNGfC , I couldn't have done it without that video.
Handlebar assembly: First, just get the bolt in - front to back, with the curvey part of the washer against the column and between the column and the bolt head. Notice you can't get to the nut on the backside (unless you have 6" fingers of a contortionist). Don't worry like I did. Get the bolt in, assemble the front wheel, then come back the the handlebar column. Turn the bars far to one side. Now you can reach the backside of the bolt and add the nut. We added blue Loctite to the axle and the steering column/handlebar threads for the nuts.
Make sure you connect the blinkers. Trial and error to get left blinker coordinating with left blinker connector. Two trials if unlucky - not too bad.
You'll still have one bod-based connector without a mate. Again, don't worry like I did - that's for the headlight. You'll assemble that later.
Front wheel assembly: The front wheel assembly is best with two people. First goal is to get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton and on flat ground so you can support the scooter on its center stand.
Get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton. This will require some muscle and two persons. Remove the front axle bolt that holds the scooter to the bottom part of the steel shipping skeleton. One straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up)shaking up and down) while the other removes the bolt axle. Once the bolt axle is removed, with muscles, one straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up and carefully walking through the steel cage bottom while the other person pushes from behind. Then, get the scooter center stand down so the scooter rests on that on flat, solid ground. We ended up balancing the frame of the scooter on a block of wood, then putting the center stand down.
Now, work on the front wheel. Slip the silver, stainless axle bolt spacer into the wheel's disc side. It's frustrating getting the wheel on because you have to get the brake disc lined up with the brake pads (remove the pad spacer put in for shipping and toss it) and the speedometer on the other side correctly lined up with the wheel and fork, ALL that simultaneously while getting it lined up to insert the axle. Fun times! You may end up with assembly partners snapping at each other and swearing - a lot. Persistence and patience and it will get done. Add blue Loctite for final tightening on the axle nut.
Oil change: Drain out all the shipping oil. There's a lot in there. After draining, we added about two cups of 15W40.
Headlight and front cowl assembly: Connect the headlight to the body's headlight connector. Use the included zip ties to secure all the wires out of the way and neatly, without putting too much strain on any connections. Make sure you put the U-shaped, color matched plastic cover (in horizontal plane) separating the handlebars speedometer instruments from the front cowl. Snap it into the tabs. THEN, attach the front headlight cowl to the body. Don't do like I did - get the headlight front cowl section on then try to snap in the cover. I had to remove the headlight front cowl, snap in the color-matched cover, then re-attach the front headlight cowl.
Topcase/trunk: Best with two persons, but can be done with one. Big enough for a half helmet, gloves, goggles, wallet, and other little things. Looks good on the scooter, too.
Battery installation: This can be tricky. You have to have a sqare nut below the terminal screw. If you put the battery in the scooter and try to get those nuts under the terminal, you won't be able to do it. If you just try to balance the square nuts on the battery while dropping the batter into the scooter's battery compartment, the square nuts fall off. We then secured the nuts to the batter with the terminal screw only half-turned. Then drop the battery in and complete connections. First, connect the black, then connect the red. The batteries we received were fully charged.
Moment of truth: Put premium gas in the tank. Since the carburetor is empty, you'll have to let the starter work a bit to get gas flowing into the engine. Didn't even take three minutes. Started right up. Whew. Let it run for a while.
One sees many horror stories about buying Chinese scooters online from dealers. And, those stories are bad. As I said above, you have to agree to the terms and conditions before you can buy. Those terms and conditions put all the risk on the buyer, not the dealer. So, know what you're getting into.
But, thankfully, FGK did well. We received both Trailmaster Milano N 50 scooters in a timely manner, without damage, and the scooters fired up right away. Good idle speed and it sounds like the aifuel mix is spot on.
Finally, registration of your scooter in your state: My state, Virginia, requires registration of 50cc scooters so you can display a license tag on the back. To register, you need a title. You don't get a title from this dealer. But, you get enough documentation from the dealer (manufacturer's transper document, invoice, bill of lading) where you can fill out an easy affidavit for title. Get it notarized and submit with your title application and registration. Pretty easy and far easier and quicker than waiting for the dealer to do it for you, IF the dealer is willing to do it for you, that is. I didn't even ask FGK for a title transfer document, so I can't comment on their responsiveness to such a request. I did the easy work-around at the DMV.
So far, so good. I've gotten it up to 32 MPH (speedo reading, not GPS-confirmed), and that wasn't at full throttle. I'm still being careful with getting to full throttle until the engine has a bit of time to break in.
I am aware that we will have to wrench these scooters from time to time. Thanks to so many videos available online about how to work on the 139QMB GY6 50cc engines, I think we can do this.

2024.05.19 11:48 confusedmostdays Urgent Help Needed: Facing Eviction After Family Losses

Hi everyone,
I'm in a tough spot right now and could really use some help. I recently lost two family members, and it's been incredibly difficult to cope with their passing. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work as much as I normally would, and as a result, I'm struggling to pay my rent and other bills.
If I don't come up with the money soon, I'll be facing eviction, which is the last thing I need right now. I hate to ask for assistance, but I'm running out of options. If anyone is able to help with even a small contribution towards my rent, it would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any support or advice would be greatly appreciated.

So, I just launched Medieval 2 Total War: Americas for the first time in years and for some reason, the Maya in that game have a unit that throws beehives at the enemy. It's pretty useless.
This can't be historically accurate!
I just can not imagine anyone ever doing that. If getting stung by bees is effective enough in battle to sow chaos in enemy ranks, then whoever carries the beehive around would have a very similar issue. Especially if you get hit by arrows (which most certainly outrange beehive throwers) and someone drops the bees.
But people have tried a lot of silly things in war. I just can't shake the suspicion someone, somewhere actually did that and then a dev over at CA read about and found it funny enough to put in the game.
