f you are new to the world of e-triking and considering your first purchase, the advantages vs disadvantages of e-trikes is an important topic. What disadvantages will be experienced if I choose to get an e-trike rather than a “”normal” trike? The positives are many…more efficient exercise, hill-climbing power, plus great speed for crossing busy intersections. And don’t forget ease of use for people who suffer with arthritic knees, sore backs, degrading hips, etc. But what about the negatives e-trike ownership?
Advantages vs Disadvantages of E-trikes
Most e-trike riders are enthusiastic about the advantages of their electric vehicles. It’s also important to be aware of the disadvantages. Let’s take a closer look at those few disadvantages worth mentioning: weight, price, range, and maintenance.
Weight They are big and beautiful, and in general, e-trikes are heavier than conventional tricycles of the same size. A 20″ e-trike similar to the Mooncool TK1 Fat Tire pictured above can weigh upwards of 90 pounds. If handling that much weight is difficult for you, then you might have to get creative with some details of e-triking. For example, if you expect to transport the trike, make sure you have a plan for loading it onto a vehicle.
Be wary of e-trikes that weigh less than 80 pounds. Unfortunately, this type of e-trike normally has much less motor power and a less capable battery. Also, it is often more expensive.
Mooncool e-trikes provide greater stability, traction, power, range, and comfort. That additional comfort, power, and safety means greater weight is a necessity. You can’t have the combination of a sturdy frame, powerful motor, and long-lasting battery without the accompanying weight.
Price The ancient adage “you get what you pay for” can certainly be applied to e-trikes. To get all the advantages that come with a high-powered motor, strong battery, and comfortable fat tires — well, we have to dig a little deeper into the wallet. The very things that we love the most about e-trikes, including the amazing fuel economy, are the same things that add substantially to the price!
The Big Bucks Components Motor Battery Brakes
These three items account for a significant portion of the increase in price as compared to buying a conventional tricycle. The electric motor, preferably at least 500 watts, ads $350 – $500 to the price you pay for your e-trike. A decent battery adds $500-$900 — varying with size, quality, volts and amp hours.
The heavier weight of an e-trike makes disk brakes very advisable…either mechanical or hydraulic. And that will add another $50 – $250 to the cost of your e-trike.
A little quick addition tells you an e-trike can easily cost $1000 more than a conventional tricycle of similar quality. But what a difference! That $1000 expense makes cycling possible for many people who thought they would never ride again. This would not be possible without the assistance of a motorized tricycle.
Range Naturally, everyone wants an e-trike that can handle a long ride. Technology will eventually catch up with demand. Sadly, at the moment, we must be satisfied with lesser ranges. It is possible to configure your e-trike for carrying two batteries (also more expensive). Without 2 batteries, you can forget about riding more than 40-50 miles on a single battery charge.
If you are not content with a 40-50 mile range, then range must be considered a disadvantage. On the positive side, many riders find that they rarely have the need or desire to travel more than 20-30 miles on one ride. On average, with light-to-medium pedaling, most e-trikes can achieve a range of at least 30-50 miles. Also of real importance, range varies from person to person. It is vastly affected by terrain, wind, tire pressure, and rider weight plus gear weight.
If you are a commuter, an e-trike may well be a great solution to rising fuel prices. A 30-mile round trip could cost you $3-$6 in gasoline. The same trip will require only 4 cents in electrical costs for riding your e-trike. Every time you make a quick trip to the local grocer, that’s another $2-$3 saved in fuel expense. Over time, it adds up to a substantial savings!
Maintenance Owning an e-trike is a significant investment in better health, exercise, and enjoyment. Certainly, it follows that good maintenance is important. As noted above, motors can be expensive, and so can motor repair. Tires, battery, chain, frame, brakes…it all requires good maintenance habits.
Indeed, an annual trip to a local bike shop is a good idea, just to ensure you haven’t overlooked anything. Perhaps the most important consideration for your e-trike is safety–your personal safety as a rider. Of course, that makes regular and careful maintenance a priority for every e-trike owner.

“KULRs financial position is the strongest it’s been in over a year. KULR has over $3M in the bank, and the prepaid advance note has been fully repaid” Shawn Canter, CFO.
In the Q1 discussion we’ve learned that KULR has over $3M in the bank. After FY23 reporting cash on hand at about $1M (which scared many investors) this shows vast improvement in a relatively short time.
Total customers rose from 2023Q1 to 2024 Q1 - Total Customers 15 < 34 - Service Customers 5 < 14 - Product Customers 13 < 25
EPS rose 33% from -.06 to -.04
Overall, a couple of hiccups caused earnings to flatline y/y due to reasonable causes:

one large OEM customer did not order this quarter that had ordered in Q1 ‘23, although due to the sticky nature of KULR products being certified into their products, they are expected to continue business later this year and beyond.
there was a delay in receiving special permits that are now currently active. ‘I suspect these were the two DOT related SafeCASE permits in March that led to the recent UPS shipping approval in May.’

KULR ONE:
The KULR One design solutions achieved 769% Y/Y growth. This includes their Guardian, Space and Custom design systems. The KULR One designs also has experience across the regulatory spectrum to include the DOD, EASA, FAA & NASA.

Tesla - the largest automotive OEM by market cap
Volkswagen - the largest automotive OEM by sales

US Market share as of Jan 2024 Tesla controls 4.2% and VW controls 4.1%. Prior to January, VW had the higher market share. Tesla is responsible for 50% of US EV sales, and is the world’s second largest EV company.

Maybe I'm missing something (absolutely can be) but this price seems way off unless they're planning a massive price hike for the MK 8.5 GTI.
This is straight from VW stating that the preorders have begun and the GTI starts at 44,505 euro which seems high. Now it does say this includes a 19% VAT, but even then, the 2024 base seems like it's considerably less.
Really hoping I just suck and I'm looking at the numbers wrong so I wanted to post to see what's up.

Hi everyone! First time posting, but I could really use some help. I recently got laid off and my car got totaled so I’m looking for a bike/trike to get around for the time being. Hoping to land a job soon, but this job market makes me nervous… in any case, does anyone have a cheap bike or trike for sale, or know of non-scammy places to source one? I am in the west providence neighborhood, so anywhere within a couple of miles would work (I can certainly walk just about anywhere, but I thankfully have friends to get me to Pawtucket/Warwick/etc if necessary). I saw a few on OfferUp, but they don’t have many reviews which makes me a bit worried. I was looking at one that had a basket, but figured I would post here as I’ve gotten lots of great recommendations and sources in the past (secondary of course, as I said first time posting). Hello!
I am looking to buy a Lancer which is currently on sale but have questions about it and want to hear your opinions.
How good/reliable is the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 DID INSTYLE? It has a Volkswagen 2.0 turbo diesel engine with 140bhp. The owner told me he removed the DPF filter 10 years ago as it was causing the DPF filter light to go on. (Unsure how it goes through annual inspection).
It has 280k kilometers on it. Has new springs(?) and shock absorbers, new brakes front and back, new front brake calipers. At 270k he said he did general maintenance on the engine.
It has 18 inch rims with tyres for 1 more season 16 inch rims with winter tyres are included but are also only good for 1 season
Price is 5000€ but will likely go down as I don't want the roof rack and box he is providing with it and generally haggling is expected at a good 4000€.

China's passenger NEVs sold 674,000 units at retail in April, up 28.3 percent from a year ago but down 5.7 percent from March, CPCA data released yesterday showed.
Tesla's retail sales in China in April were 31,421 units, down 21.4 percent from a year ago, and ranked No. 5 with a 4.6 percent share.
In the CPCA's March retail sales rankings of NEVs released last month, Tesla was No. 2 with an 8.8 percent share, behind BYD's 36.6 percent.
It's worth noting that in China, NEVs include battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel-cell vehicles. BYD produces PHEVs and BEVs, while Tesla only produces BEVs.
Tesla sold 62,167 China-made vehicles in April, including 30,746 exported, according to CPCA data released yesterday.

·CORCEL GT (1969): Launched in 1969 and aimed at a younger audience, the Corcel GT was only available in a two-door coupe version. It had details such as a vinyl roof with the GT logo on the C-pillar, stripes on the sides, black paint on the hood and rear, fog lights, and claws with a rubberized finish on the bumpers. THE FORD DEL REY: The Del Rey was a Ford luxury sedan launched in the early 1980s and discontinued ten years later, having been replaced by the Versailles. It is a medium sedan, with three well-defined volumes, a choice of two or four doors and robust engines. The model was derived from the Corcel and in its line there was also the station wagon version, called Del Rey Scala and the Pampa pickup truck.
·BEFORE LAUNCH: Ford had a big problem to face in the late 1970s. With the new decade, Ford began to remodel its cars with modern designs coming from North America so as not to lose sales to more modern models. As the market was in crisis, it was not possible to invest well in a new model, an option taken in the 1970s when they brought the Ford Maverick to the American market, an option revealed to be wrong later, as the initial project was to bring the Ford Taunus. The solution was to call for the creation of a new model, but with an existing platform on the national market. The options were to create a car based on the four-door Maverick, increasing its rear space, which was the model's biggest problem, or to create a product based on the Corcel II platform, launched two years earlier.
In a clinic, two models were displayed to test consumer opinion, and the one chosen was the one that resembled the final design of the Ford Del Rey. A medium sedan, with three well-defined volumes, the option of two or four doors and an economical engine. , being the alternative to avoid higher costs. The model was based on the Ford Granada MKII models, a large model from English Ford manufactured at the same time, and the Ford Taunus, also from European Ford, but from Germany. ·FIRST GENERATION (1981 - 1984): The Ford Del Rey debuted in mid-1981 and could be found in Gold and basic versions (popularly called "Silver"). It was a car with a refined finish, reminiscent of its older brother, the Ford Corcel under construction, but at the same time reminiscent of the good old Galaxie/Landau. The most complete version came as standard with items that were not common even in cars of its category, such as light alloy wheels, electric windows, electric door locks, rear view mirrors with internal control, velvet seats, fog lights, digital clock located on the central rear view mirror, among other things. The model received an automatic transmission as an option in 1983, and in 1984 it received the CHT engine, a revision of the old 1.6 engine of Renault origin that equipped the Corcel GT, and which was revised to equip the recently arrived Ford Escort. The engine did a lot of good for the model which, despite being economical, suffered during accelerations and restarts, and was the target of criticism from its owners, always losing in comparisons with the main competitors of its time, such as Chevrolet Opala, Volkswagen Santana and after 1985 , the Chevrolet Monza.
SECOND GENERATION (1985 - 1991): In 1985 Ford made some changes to the model, which would remain practically intact until the end of its life in mid-1991. The already tired sedan gained a new front, similar to that of the Ford Corcel, with a “grille” aerodynamics and a spoiler that served as a frame for the fog lights. The model began to have other names. The Silver and Gold were discontinued and the GL entered as a basic version, GLX as an intermediate and the Ghia as a top-of-the-line version. It lost the refinement of alloy wheels, but gained new items. The rim increased to 14 inches and was the first non-sports car in Brazil to use a 60 profile. The 1987 model featured electric rear-view mirrors. With the Ford Corcel leaving the line the previous year, Ford created the L version, with a more stripped-down finish, to fill the gap between the Escort and the Del Rey. In 1988 the model had no relevant changes.
With the merger of Volkswagen and Ford in 1987, Autolatina was created, a large company that came to dominate the market and almost cannibalized Ford of Brazil. The Del Rey was one of the few models that profited from this merger, as it gained the more modern AP 1.8 engine (which was equipped with the Volkswagen Santana). With a small performance gain, its top speed rose from 146 km/h to around 156 km/h, and its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h went from 16.50 in the 1986 GLX version to around 13.88 seconds, due to the new gear reduction and small increase in power. The Del Rey received some mechanical changes, recalibrated springs at the rear to improve the “anti-dive” effect when accelerating and “anti-squat” when braking. The exterior mirror received a modified base in 1989. The last really notable difference between the models with the 1.6 and 1.8 engines was the consumption, which had increased slightly.
In 1991 the Del Rey was taken out of production. It is a model well remembered for the modernity it had in its time, as its bigger brother (Ford Landau) did not have many modern features (such as electric windows, electric locks and electric mirrors). Its replacement, the Ford Versailles, was not as successful due to its lack of charisma.
THE FORD BELINA: During the development of the M project (later named Corcel) in partnership with Renault, Willys-Overland do Brasil was studying the project of a station wagon/van to occupy the market niche left by the end of DKW-Vemag Vemaguet in 1967 At the same Volkswagen do Brasil was working on a similar project for a while, the Variant station wagon. After the purchase of Willys do Brasil by Ford, the M project continued to be developed. On August 26, 1968, the M project was presented at Clube Pinheiros in São Paulo during the Ford-Willys dealer convention. Named Corcel, the new vehicle was being launched on the market to compete with the VW Beetle. At the same event, Ford presented the prototype of a Corcel station wagon in September 1968. The first prototype of the Corcel station wagon was seen circulating around the factory in São Bernardo do Campo undergoing tests.
Ford even transported a prototype station wagon to its stand at the VI São Paulo Motor Show, with its management undecided about showing the model. In the end, the station wagon ended up not being shown. Instead of launching, Ford chose to carry out further tests of two models: two and four doors (never adopted for series production). The tests were carried out throughout 1969 on Estrada Velha de Santos.
The Ford Belina was launched on the market on March 3, 1970, approximately three months after the Volkswagen Variant.[6] After the launch of Variant and Belina, VW and Ford began an “advertising war” in the station wagon market, with each factory praising its product and criticizing its competitor. In the end, the German automaker prevailed with the argument of the simple and robust mechanics of the air engine (the same as the Volkswagen Beetle). Thus, the Variant's production was around six times greater than that of the Belina.
In one of the first tests carried out by the press, unusual wear was noticed on the Belina's front tires. An error was later discovered in the adjustment of the front suspension of the Corcel-Belina line, which forced Ford to call on all owners of Corcel-Belina line vehicles manufactured between 1969 and 1970 to come to Ford dealerships to have the suspension readjusted. Despite not requiring replacement of parts, this was considered the first recall in Brazil.
The bad reputation brought about by the problem affected Belina production, which went from 7831 (1970) to 5306 (1971) vehicles. The drop in production forced Ford to invest in the relaunch of the Corcel-Belina line in 1972. The main change for the Belina was the adoption of the 75 HP XP engine, replacing the original 68 HP. The production of mixed-use trucks (including station wagons) was encouraged by market acceptance. Between the first quarter of 1973 and 1975 there was a 26% growth in the production of mixed-use trucks (including station wagons) while car production in the country fell 3.9%.
In 1973 production reached almost thirteen thousand copies. The Belina went through a period of growth in production that did not change even with the launch of the Chevrolet Caravan on the market in 1975. Derived from the Opala, the Caravan station wagon began to compete with the Belina for the market. Thus, Ford adopted a second restyling of the Belina in 1975, with changes to the front and improvements in the design and the adoption of a gas shock absorber to support the trunk lid instead of the obsolete spring shock absorber it used. The arrival of the Caravan and the launch of the remodeled Belina put pressure on the Variant, which began to lose market share until it was discontinued in 1977. At the same time, the Belina project, derived from the Corcel, was feeling the weight of age (given that it was from the 1960) and needed replacement.

THE DEL REY SCALA: Derived from the Del Rey, the Scala was launched in 1983, being an evolution of the Belina. Available in a single version: Gold. With a superior finish, it introduced new equipment to the category: electric locks and windows, a ceiling console with a digital clock, reading lights and a panel that even had an oil pressure gauge. Air conditioning was optional. Initially, power steering was not offered, not even as an option. It was equipped with a 1.6 engine with 69 hp. In 1984 it received ventilated disc brakes at the front and its power increased slightly: 73 hp.
In 1985 it received a facelift, with a new front and interior changes. It was now offered in two versions: GLX and Ghia. In 1986 it received power steering and a CHT E-Max engine.
There was also a 4X4 version, launched in 1985 and discontinued in 1987, due to the high incidence of mechanical failures in the system.
In 1987, she was called Belina again. Its production lasted until 1991, when it was discontinued to make way for the Ford Royale. At that time, Belina's sales represented half of the Del Rey family.
FORD PAMPA: The Pampa was based on the second generation of the Corcel and was presented at the 1982 Motor Show, designed to compete with the Fiat Fiorino, Volkswagen Saveiro and Chevy 500.
In the 1984 model, the first changes occurred, receiving the CHT engine, more powerful and economical. The 1600 cm³ CHT engine had 75 HP on alcohol and 73 HP on gasoline, respectively allowing the Pampa to reach a maximum speed of 145 km/h and 140 km/h. The 4x4 model, launched in the same year together with the Belina 4x4, was equipped with a four-speed gearbox, a one-piece seat and also had a second fuel tank in the alcohol version, for an additional 40 liters. In 1986, the basic, L and GL models came into existence, and in that same year the entire Pampa line received the front grille of the 4x4 version for the 1987 model. It was similar to the Del Rey, in addition to gaining the Ghia version with luxury items from the Del Rey Ghia model. These include a complete dashboard, windows and electric locks. Despite this, Pampa no longer has air conditioning, only offering hot air as an option.
The Pampa had always been the leader among light pickup trucks until then and continued in this situation until it was discontinued. In 1990 it received the VW AP-1800 engine, powering the L, GL and Ghia versions. The CHT 1.6 still remains in the L and GL 4x4 versions. The following year the S version arrives, much more sporty and complete, only coming with a 1800 cm³ engine and bringing standard items such as external hooks, protective rubbers for the edges of the bucket, day and night rear view mirror, optional power steering, individual adjustable seats , stylized wheels, personalized stripes on the sides, sliding rear window, front spoiler with built-in fog lights and other items found in the Ghia version, such as an electric trio.
In 1992 the Pampa received a new front grille, identical to that of the Del Rey, which production ended in 1991. Two years later it received an electronic carburetor (2E CE) for the 1800 cm³ engines. In 1995, the Ghia and Jeep GL 1.6 4x4 versions were discontinued, leaving only the L (1.6 and 1.8), GL (1.8) and S (1.8).
The Pampa ceased production in 1997, the model year in which the 1.8 engines were equipped with EEC-IV single-point electronic injection, becoming the best-selling automobile-derived pickup in the segment, exceeding 380,000 units sold. Main thing is reliability and feul economy, these all seem to be at the same level. It would be nice if I can find a recent model of one of these cars below used at a good price that way I could pay cash but all signs are pointing towards new and financing. Are there any I could eliminate based on your personal experience? I plan on going to test drive, but going to 4 dealerships sounds exhausting.

Shares of Zeekr Intelligent Technology opened nearly 24% above their initial public offering price on Friday, giving the China-based electric vehicle maker a valuation of $6.8 billion.
The debut would mark the first major U.S. listing by a Chinese company since 2021 amid fierce competition in China between electric-vehicle makers that have hurt their profits - and as many push to expand into other markets.
"The capital markets in New York are very favorable for new energy vehicles. Zeekr is a global brand, and choosing to list in New York further demonstrates its global capabilities," said CEO Conghui An, who is also the president of Zeekr's parent company, Geely Holding Group.
Zeekr is the premium brand of the Chinese automaker, which also owns Sweden's Volvo Cars and the UK's Lotus. It was formed in 2021 to tap into growing Chinese demand for premium models, and has delivered nearly 200,000 cars so far, according to its IPO filing, mostly in China.
Zeekr is one of a number of Chinese automakers, including BYD, SAIC and Great Wall Motor that are targeting Europe, rolling out electric models as they seek to compete with legacy European automakers on their turf. Chinese EV sales in Europe have soared in recent years.

Shares of EV companies in the United States have lost substantial value in recent months, including Tesla, the leading U.S. EV maker, which has dropped 30% this year.
Rivian Automotive has lost 85% since its IPO in November 2021, while Lucid Group is left with a fourth of what it fetched when it signed a deal with a blank-check firm earlier that year.
Zeekr, however, upsized its IPO, indicating strong demand from investors. It sold 21 million American depositary shares (ADSs) to raise $441 million. It had earlier planned to sell 17.5 million ADSs at a price between $18 and $21 apiece.
Since the start of the year, the company's deliveries have overtaken its nearest competitors.
Zeekr delivered 49,148 vehicles in the first four months ended April 30, while Xpeng delivered 31,214 units and Nio delivered 45,673 cars during the same period, according to regulatory filings and press releases.
The share flotation comes during rising tension between the world's two biggest economies over trade, intellectual property, Taiwan and China's stance on the Russia-Ukraine war.
The IPO gives Zeekr a fully diluted valuation, which includes securities such as options and restricted stock units, of $5.5 billion at the high end of its targeted range, but still lower than the $13 billion it fetched after a funding round last year.
The discount to last year's valuation could help draw in investors, said Dan Coatsworth, investment analyst at AJ Bell.
"They're able to buy into a growing business at a fraction of last year's valuation. Everyone loves a perceived bargain."
The number of Chinese companies that have pursued stock market flotations in the United States in the past few years has dropped, after Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Global was forced to delist its shares following a backlash from Chinese regulators.
Beijing has since softened its stance and released a set of rules last year to revive such listings, after the U.S. accounting watchdog and China resolved a longstanding audit dispute in December 2022.

Welcome to the March new chargers report, fellow Chadoomers!
Almost all of you are my fellow Leaf owners, hoping for just one new chargepoint on your favorite route, before the great dwarven CHAdeMO forges beneath the earth go cold for all time. Here's an update.
Here are all of the new US and Canadian CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April, according to the Alternative Fuels Data Center. You can fetch the data yourself here. Feel free to report inaccuracies to the AFDC.
For comparison's sake: in the US, there were 200 "new" (or updated) CHAdeMO stations added in March, with at least 200 chargepoints. To put it in perspective, there were 102 new or updated US stations in April of 2023. This month's report is surprisingly strong, given how late we are in CHAdeMO's lifecycle. It is unclear if this is due to a large number of refreshed stations, or a large rollout of new stations that happen to include at least one CHAdeMO chargepoint, but it may be the latter thanks to Inflation Reduction Act funding. In any case, it is good news for those of us with legacy vehicles.
Keep in mind that even EVGo has started to roll out stations where only some of the bays support CHAdeMO. This makes sense given that only Nissan still sells a CHAdeMO pure-battery-electric car in the US, and the newer Nissan Ariya model is CCS. The Mitsubishi Plug-In Hybrid Outlander PHEV also supports CHAdeMO.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.

To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first. Some stations may actually have more CHAdeMO chargepoints than reported here, but most won't, because even EVGo has started to reduce the number of CHAdeMO chargepoints per station. So in the case of CHAdeMO I make a pessimistic assumption to avoid creating unrealistic expectations.
Even so, for actual trip planning I recommend using PlugShare. This report is mainly useful to understand trends.

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:

Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.

Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.

Hi,
I purchased a 2012 automatic Volkswagen Golf car from a garage in Drogheda in October 2023. As of April 2024 I’ve spent €2k in repairs for the car that I was not made aware of before buying. I got these done in a different garage as the oil light came on and the coolant light. So I brought it in before it broke down and the garage would not let it out until it was safer to drive. I left that garage and the oil light came on again which then they looked at the engine and it’s in very bad condition. I got a second opinion from a mechanic there and he has looked at it throughout he suspects an engine crack so I need to replace engine of this car also. All after 5 months, have barely driven it I have a photo of mileage from first day I bought the car.
I paid (9,450) for the car.
I called the garage and they won’t cooperate unfortunately. He said the warranty is up after three months. (which I never received from them) only a sales invoice. He also is saying that I and the garage done the damage to the engine.
Do I have any leg to stand on here or am I just gonna have to fork out for this engine? Will I just be out of a lot more money and no car to drive if I pursue it further?
It’s my first car so it’s a bit devastating. Unfortunately I bought this car 2 hours away and they delivered it so they weren’t close by to go to them with the car initially. For anyone that is going to ask if I got a mechanic to look at car before I bought it the answer is no my first mistake.
Any advice appreciated!
