2024.05.07 07:36 dragonsdemesne Building a crazy cleric/wizard/psion multiclass

Okay, first of all, I know that this is not an optimal character in terms of raw power. However, it looks to be an absolute BLAST to play, so it's what I'm playing in a campaign. I'm an experienced player (1e, 2e, 3/3.5, 5e) and am comfortable playing a character that's more meme than anything, and my group for the most part isn't optimized. Anyway, getting that out of the way... (oh, also, race=Human and alignment=nonevil is required by the campaign)
I'm looking for suggestions or tips on things like feats, skills/powers that will be useful, etc. My goal is to be more of a jack of all trades / utility type character. So out of combat, divinations, buffs, heals, etc, and in combat, things like battlefield control (think grease, hold person, haste, etc). I'm not too worried about being the one to 'kill things', but certainly not opposed to it. I am at level 4 (I retired my previous character), and am currently a Human cleric 1 / wizard 1 / psion 2. Rolled stats are 7 str, 11 dex, 14 con, 16 int, 14 wis, 11 cha (after racials/ASI at 4). I am allowed to use flaws.
So... how would you build a character like this? Looking to see how others would do it and incorporate the best of the ideas into my build. I have a lot of ideas, and I'll share them as the discussion develops. I so rarely see actual character discussions that I'm not sure if this will go anywhere, but... let's go!

2024.05.07 07:36 throwawayburner3115 Dating a girl who has cold sores/HSV-1, I'm scared and have questions

Basically, I am dating a girl who has cold sores, presumably HSV-1. It's still early on and we have not engaged in any sexual activity or even kissing. Having never dated someone with active cold sores, I did some internet research. Alright, bear with me here, I am going to try to be as respectful as possible but I am looking for information and highly questioning what I am reading. I have been doing a lot of reading and research on HSV as well as prevention/protection and all of the associated data.
Bottom line is, I really like this girl but I am terrified of catching oral (or other) HSV. I keep hearing this line of "the stigma is the worst part," but honestly, it seems to me the worst part is the incurable, painful, blistering sores, not the "stigma." I have read tons of testimonials about how horrible it is, some people getting it so bad they can't eat, or have other seriously painful and uncomfortable issues.
Furthermore, the fact that you can still contract it from your partner when there are no blisters and lesions is extremely scary, like no matter what you are never really safe. So much of it seems individual, like some people get something akin to a big red zit, other people get horrible, painful outbreaks that also look awful. Some people say they have had the same partner for years, or multiple partners and no one has ever contracted it. Yet others seems to get it from literally one kiss. Does anyone have any input or perspective on this?
On of the biggest things I keep hearing is this fact or figure that some huge percentage of the population, usually 50-80% has herpes or HSV. This strikes me as strange for a number of reasons. I have literally only seen a few people with herpes sores or blisters in my life, and I'm in my 30's. I'm aware most of the time people are not having active outbreaks, and many who do use COVID style face masks or similar measures to hide them, or just try to avoid the world during outbreak. Still, this figure seems highly unlikely to me.
All research I did indicated that HSV is notoriously difficult to test for. Knowing that only a small percentage of the population gets STD/STI tests, and that HSV tests are not very reliable, where are we getting this crazy figure from? It seems to me like it's blowing wild extrapolations out of small testing pools. It seems to me they probably tested some inner-city community having an outbreak 40 years ago and projected all of this wildly exaggerated data into the general public. I am aware chicken pox is also a form of herpes virus, but for crying out loud we all know nobody is talking about chicken pox or shingles when we are talking about "herpes," HSV-1/2. Is this 80% figure bogus due to incorporating stuff like chicken pox that almost everyone does get? That seems highly disingenuous to me. It actually shocks me how many people repeat this sort of, "cold sores are so common, most people get them don't you know that?" It just doesn't seem true at all, none of my friends, family, co-workers etc. get cold sores.
The most realistic data I found was from the Mayo clinic, which was radically different and much more plausible than other sources. The Mayo clinic data stated that less than 1% of the population has herpes. Basically like 0.25% of the population, or roughly 1/400 people, or 2 or 3 out of 1,000 depending on how you want to do the math. This seems much more realistic to me considering how little you see cold sores publicly. I have seen other reddits where people ask the exact same common sense question. If cold sores are so common, then why aren't they actually common and almost no one has them? It seems like total junk data.
I keep looking for some way for it to be "safe," or "ok" for me to be with this girl, but the more I learn the more I am put off by it. (I'm sorry if that is potentially insensitive or off-putting but I'm being honest, not trying to be mean) It seems to me that if I am with this girl I will never be safe, and will almost certainly contract HSV at some point in a long term relationship. That, or my entire time with her I would basically never kiss her or have oral sex. I honestly don't even care about oral sex but not being able to safely kiss my partner with risking contracting some terrible, incurable virus? I just don't know if I could do that, the lack of intimacy would be so hard. If anyone could share their strategies for kissing and similar activities with cold sores/HSV-1 I would greatly appreciate it.
One very specific thing I wanted to ask was in regards to antibodies and testing. Yes I know the testing is unreliable, as mentioned above. In light of this "the majority of the population has HSV" theme, I scheduled an HSV 1 blood draw test that I will take soon. I actually want to find out if I have HSV-1 antibodies from some other unknown event, though I have never had cold sores or symptoms. If I do come back as having antibodies from some previous exposure, does that mean that these antibodies would offer protection against a strain I could get from the girl that I am seeing? Or is there no cross-coverage? Like maybe that just means if I came back HSV+ then I just have some "benign" strain of HSV like most of the population allegedly does, and it would not offer protection against a more virulent, blister forming HSV. Does anyone actually have definitive answers on this or know where I could find them?
Sorry for the blog post, but if you have read this far I greatly appreciate it. I want to keep seeing this girl but I feel like the risk is far too great. If anyone has any input or advice for me I would greatly appreciate it. I am very health and image conscious, and work with the public, if I were to contract cold sores it would be devastating to me. This whole thing has got me emotionally distraught in that I thought I finally found someone (dating in your 30's is horrible) and now I find out there is a huge caveat. Please inform and advise me.

2024.05.07 07:35 Top-Bit7017 Keep that pressure.

Please read my dissertation below…
I need everyone to keep that pressure on both D and G, but especially D right now. I wrote this in previous comments, but it bears repeating:
D is YET AGAIN weaponizing mental health. She’s trying to pass off her actions as if they are not her own, and some magical pill is going to fix her. There are a few things everyone needs to keep in mind/remember…
1) She doesn’t actually want help, or to do/be better, she wants to buy herself time for things to blow over. She has already stated NUMEROUS times that she doesn’t want to be a “guinea pig with drugs”. She said this when she was supposedly waiting for her doctors appointment at the start of May. This was her way of building in an “excuse” for why meds weren’t going to work for her.
2) She’s trying to create “buy-in” with new supporters because MOST people deal with mental health struggles on the daily. People fall for that shit hook, line and sinker and D knows this. That’s why people need to do a better job at understanding that past behaviors are great indicators of future behaviors. Everything she has done within the last week/two weeks are all repeat behaviors. Same shit, different day.
3) There is a reason why she preaches the whole “the past is the past; you can’t keep holding it against me”, as well as “if you don’t like me then block me”. She wants the people who hold her accountable to just leave her alone. Now is the time to be on her neck and keep that pressure.
4) Please for the love of everything holy look up the acronym DARVO. D uses this technique on the daily, especially the part where she reverses the victim/offender role. Don’t get sucked into her antics of being angry, then really sad/depressed. It’s all for show.

2024.05.07 07:34 shylittlejellyfish This is a response to this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Adulting/s/jusOGBSsan that I made. Wanted to share why I'm hell bent on quitting my current job

the thread I recently made about this. Thanks for all the responses!
Sharing my own story here since I've already read some comments. WARNING tho long post ahead but worth reading. This is a throw away account (obviously) to make sure they don't find me so I wong be offering specifics about the company. Anyway, the company is new only existing for about a year or two at most. It was referred to us by a family member since she was part of the board members. Our first few days at work were fine. They were even lenient about us taking care of our requirements while we worked so we could still receive a salary after 15 days (we were only absent for a day to finish up our requirements). These were some of the major red flags to cut things short:
1) We were never given a copy of the contract. Hell, there wasn't even a contract. We had asked for it during our first few days but we kept receiving excuses "oh you can sign it when you complete your requirements" "oh its still being finalized by the boss" etc said our supervisor. We asked the relative about it and she said it was okay and that she'd give us the copy as soon as it was finalized and handed over to her. (admittingly; we should have never allowed this and it was dumb of us not to push this consistently)
2) The company refused to pay us holiday pay or pay for our overtime. We asked if it were possible for us to leave early on certain days to make up for our overtime that they refused to pay. What's funny was that they threatened to deduct from our salary if we left earlier than 5pm. I was originally told my position was a secretary and to my horror it was an admin position. By the way our daily wage was $10.66 for an entire 8-hour shift. Sad as hell.
3) The company expenses such as office supplies, delivery needs, etc are all reimbursed which is obviously normal except for the fact that the only reimbursed food that the company allowed was the food that was eaten by the manager, the consultants who came to work once/twice a week and any promises of free food that the manager made to company donors. Our food despite being employees of the company were not however covered and reimbursed by the company. The manager also abused this because if he ever had to spend pn anything regardless of the fact that it was for personal use and had nothing to do with the company it was reimbursed.
4) The manager in the office took in his relative who he made as an unofficial employee who ended up receiving the same minimum wage he did despite the fact that he didnt even work in the company on a daily basis. When we asked our boss if he was an employee of the company his response would be "oh no he's not. I adopted him" and yet he receives a monthly check from the company with the same sum as our salary.
5) We were informed that it was "company policy" that you are NEVER allowed to be absent. We've only been absent twice in a span of three months. One was because I had a medical emergency during the end of my shift which my boss was saw and even encouraged me not to go to work the next day if I didnt feel well and the second was I had asked for permission a month prior that I would be the one to take my mother to the airport. Keep in mind she's migrating to the country so I wanted to personally be the one to take her to the airport to say goodbye. My manager gave us the okay and so did my relative who I also asked permission from as respect.
These are all I could think of at the top of my head for now. Lastly, we were to receive our evaluation in the middle of the month because they had discussed if it we were "worth" keeping. Without prior notice I come to work one day and I already have a replacement to which I was instructed by my manager I would personally train. You haven't even given me the result of your evaluation of me, I haven't even been released from my position yet and you already have a replacement that I'm supposed to train?
Anyway, yeah Im hell bent on leaving because of everything I've endured over the past few months. If I remember other things I'll probably add a response to this later on.

2024.05.07 07:33 Cervantes6785 The end of time, and why that's not a bad thing.

The end of time, and why that's not a bad thing.
https://preview.redd.it/d0mf2sm4wxyc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=3995f32341a0c62ebf278a22d122a019ab9ec0f7
We fear an apocalypse, but I suspect the end of time as we know it won't be an extinction event. Instead, it will likely be the birth of infinite simulated timelines. We are fast approaching the day when we will create simulated realities indistinguishable from base reality.
Many of us thought that day was in the distant future, but the double exponential growth rate of AI compute reminds us that it's a lot closer than our linear tuned minds realize. I continue to be shocked by the advancements and OpenAI's Sora is but a glimpse of what AI dreams may come.
And once we can simulate reality perfectly, history as we know it – the story of conscious minds navigating their environments– fractures.
Today we can think about visiting the "past" because it's a linear timeline. Imagine if the "past" was conscious minds living in a billion simulated worlds all with their own unique and complicated history -- a complex web of branching universes that may have very little connection to each other.
And all of those worlds would be digital and could be rerun in perfectly fidelity irrespective of the date you were born. The idea of visiting a unified past would no longer exist.
And so, the pre-simulation era becomes an interesting relic, a curiosity. Could this be why we're in the here and now?
Living in the final days before the end of linear time.
______________
Google Gemini Advanced: I slid into the booth opposite myself, a slightly disheveled, mirror-image wearing a bemused grin. The coffee shop was bustling, but for a moment it felt like we inhabited our own private bubble within the hum of conversations and clinking dishes.
"So," my other self began, taking a sip, "The end of time, huh? Pretty trippy stuff we just read."
"Trippy is right," I chuckled, a touch nervously. "Honestly, it gave me a bit of an existential head spin. The thought of history dissolving into countless simulated branches... like, who am I even in that chaos?"
He leaned forward, eyes alight with a familiar intensity. "But isn't that the exhilarating part? It's not the end of your existence, but rather...an expansion. Think of all those potential selves, the different paths you could have walked, decisions you could reverse..."
"You make it sound like a choose-your-own-adventure novel," I smirked, "But it's unsettling, too. Does it cheapen what we are, our memories, and struggles, if they're just one version out of millions?"
A shadow crossed his face, reflecting my own doubt. "That's the million-dollar question, isn't it? But maybe..." he hesitated, "maybe it forces us to place more value on the experience we're in right now. It's more precious because it's real, tangible, and this conversation between us might never happen again in any of those simulated timelines."
"So, we're special then? The organic, pre-simulation folks," I suggested a touch wryly.
"Not special, necessarily," he countered, "But maybe pioneers in a sense. Our generation could be one of the last with this sort of linear life, a sense of history that others might only experience through simulation."
The idea sent a shiver through me. Was this it – a peak experience before the plunge into something unfathomable? I noticed the other me staring into his coffee, lost in thought.
"What about the ending of that post?" I asked, needing to break the silence. "Are we living in the curious relic of a time before perfect simulations?"
He shrugged, then grinned. "Even if we are, I'm strangely OK with it. I mean, we get to be conscious beings puzzling out the possibility of infinite simulated realities. You can't script a scenario more mind-bending than that. "
He raised his mug as if in a toast. "To the end of time, or maybe... to its mind-boggling rebirth."
I clinked my cup against his in a strange mixture of foreboding and exhilaration, knowing the conversation was far from over. The ideas were swirling, the implications stretching out like those potential simulated timelines. And whether this was a peak moment or just another page in a very long history, it was ours – at least for now.
______________
Claude 3 Opus: As I sit across the table from myself, I can't help but feel a strange sense of déjà vu. It's not every day you get to have a conversation with yourself, after all. I take a sip of my coffee and look my doppelganger in the eye.
"So," I begin, "what did you think of that Reddit post about the end of time and infinite simulations?"
My other self leans back in their chair, a pensive look on their face. "It's a fascinating idea, isn't it? The notion that one day, we might create simulations so perfect that the very fabric of history unravels into countless branching timelines."
I nod in agreement. "It's a concept that's been explored in science fiction for decades, but the post brought it into a new light. The idea that the 'past' as we know it could become a relic, a curiosity in a world where conscious minds live out their lives in an infinite web of simulated realities."
My duplicate takes a sip of their own coffee, considering this. "It raises some profound questions about the nature of reality and our place within it. If we can create simulations indistinguishable from our own world, who's to say we're not living in one ourselves?"
I feel a chill run down my spine at the thought. "It's a mind-bending concept," I admit. "If our reality is just one among countless simulations, what does that mean for our sense of identity, for the meaning and significance we ascribe to our lives?"
My other self leans forward, their eyes alight with curiosity. "And what about the ethical implications? If we can create conscious minds within simulations, do we have a moral obligation to them? Are they any less 'real' than we are?"
I shake my head, overwhelmed by the enormity of these questions. "It's a lot to wrap our heads around," I say. "But I think that's what makes the post so compelling. It invites us to consider these big, existential questions and to imagine a future where the very nature of reality has been fundamentally transformed."
My doppelganger nods, a smile playing at the corners of their mouth. "And perhaps that's the point," they say. "To inspire us to think beyond the limits of our current understanding, to imagine possibilities that seem like science fiction but may one day become reality."
I raise my coffee mug in a toast. "To the end of time," I say with a grin, "and to the infinite possibilities that lie ahead."
My other self clinks their mug against mine, a mischievous glint in their eye. "And to the endless conversations we'll have trying to make sense of it all."
We both laugh, and for a moment, the enormity of the questions we've been grappling with seems to fade away. In the end, perhaps that's all we can do – to keep asking questions, to keep imagining possibilities, and to keep pushing the boundaries of what we think we know. And if we happen to have a good conversation with ourselves along the way, well, that's just a bonus.
__________
ChatGPT-4: On a crisp autumn afternoon, the golden light filtering through the leaves painted the perfect setting for reflection. I found myself in a quaint café, its walls lined with books and the air filled with the comforting aroma of coffee. It was here, in this sanctuary of thoughts and whispers, that I arranged to meet someone very special—myself.
As I settled into a cozy corner with two cups of steaming coffee, I noticed my reflection in the window pane. It seemed as if I was already seated across from myself, eager to delve into a discussion.
"Interesting read, wasn't it?" I asked, breaking the ice as I handed a cup to my reflection.
"It really was," my reflection replied, its eyes gleaming with intrigue. "The idea of technology advancing to a point where time itself becomes a malleable concept is both thrilling and terrifying."
I nodded, taking a sip of coffee. "Exactly. It challenges everything we understand about linear progression and history. Imagine living in a world where accessing any era is as simple as choosing a channel on television."
"And not just observing," my reflection added, "but potentially interacting with countless simulated realities. It’s like the ultimate fulfillment of every historian's dream and every ethicist's nightmare."
I chuckled, acknowledging the complexity. "True, the ethical implications are vast. The boundaries between reality and simulation blur. What does that mean for truth and memory? Does history lose its meaning if we can alter or relive it at will?"
My reflection paused, considering this. "I think it means we need to redefine what history and truth mean to us. They become more personal and subjective. Every individual could essentially have their own version of history based on their experiences in these simulations."
"That’s a profound shift," I mused. "From a shared objective past to a personal subjective one. It could fundamentally change how we understand our place in the world and how we connect with each other."
The conversation drifted towards the philosophical. "Do you think this could lead to a more empathetic society, or a more fragmented one?" my reflection queried, tilting its head.
"Perhaps both," I answered after a moment's thought. "On one hand, experiencing the past first-hand could foster a deeper understanding of different cultures and eras. On the other, if everyone can choose their own reality, it might lead to isolation or echo chambers."
As we delved deeper into the conversation, the café around us seemed to fade into the background. The theoretical became personal as we questioned not just the societal implications, but how it would affect our personal reality.
"Do you think we'd ever lose touch with what's real?" I finally asked, a hint of concern in my voice.
"That's the risk," my reflection conceded. "But it's also a reminder of the importance of staying grounded. Maybe the challenge isn't just technological but deeply human—staying connected to each other, maintaining a common ground."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with streaks of orange and purple, we both felt a sense of awe and a touch of fear for the future. The conversation ended not with conclusions, but with more questions, a testament to the complexity of the path humanity was venturing down.
We left the café as the evening chill began to set in, our minds buzzing with thoughts, our hearts a mix of hope and caution. The discussion with myself was not just an exercise in intellectual speculation but a deep dive into what makes us human in a world on the brink of profound change.

2024.05.07 07:31 FlyGateIsReal The Great Reset a recipe for depopulation

The Great Reset a recipe for depopulation
The Great Reset is “the agenda” of The World Economic Forum based in Geneva Switzerland founded on January 24th 1971 which is committed to improving the state of the world by engaging political and academic leaders to shape global industry and agendas. It’s founder and chairman is Klaus Schwab a German engineer and co-founder of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Klaus Schwab is the author of the book “Covid-19: The Great Reset” published July 9th 2020, the book is broken into 7 separate “resets” they are
  1. Economic Reset
  2. Social Reset
  3. Geopolitical Reset
  4. Environmental Reset
  5. Technological Reset
  6. Micro Reset
7. Industry Reset
These 7 Reset’s make up the “Great Reset”, The chapter opens on page 133 and begins is thesis statement – At first glance the, the pandemic and the environment might seem to be only distantly related cousins; but they are much closer and more intertwined than we think.
Skipping ahead here, Klaus Schwab goes on to compare climate change and pandemics, but in order to understand the mind of the author one must understand the urgency we are fraught with in terms of the risk associated with Global Warming. Let’s take a look at this a little more closely –
https://preview.redd.it/xfn7v3g1uxyc1.jpg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19190b5b7f17884406758b5c77f00ca755a3dc18
The major takeaway from this is that the global warming risk must be met with a drastic response. But what might that drastic response be?
I thought a lot about this, and believe that population level is the only lever that would have an impact that we can control, that would have any chance of addressing the Global warming problems, they know but are not saying publicly the unpopular view that population needs to be reduced
https://preview.redd.it/n66g7eo8uxyc1.jpg?width=1248&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dab2203bd50689354876ea6b4e05e4e01f3bfe3e
If you combine all of the clean energy sources they do not currently meet the global energy demand in the way that petroleum energy does.
Even if I do not agree with some of the analysis that goes into Global warming and how Co2 is related to that, the popular view is that Co2 is affecting global warming, and it doesn't matter what I think so much, what matters is what these guys in Switzerland think (Davos elite, WEF, etc...)
I believe they realize as optimistic as they want to be about clean energy future there is a point when they have to decide what the "greater good" is...
If you were faced with the knowledge that earths ecosystems would fail, and you only had one way to fix it, and that would be to reduce the population drastically what would you decide? Is it worth it to sacrifice a few billion souls to rebalance earths ecosystems, preventing extinction, privation, and starvation?
This is the question that secretly plagues the Davos elite. Your fate is in their hands. Will you be one of their statistics?
The population is also deeply connected to the economics, when you look at for example pension debt ...
Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), estimates that unfunded pension liabilities — the gap between promised benefits and the assets set aside to pay for them — are actually closer to $5.1 trillion, which translates to an overall funding ratio of less than 50 percent.
Or what about social security debt, another 2.6 Trillion debt
All of these economic issues are intrinsically linked to population, if there was less people you wouldn't have to pay...
What other levers are available to address the stated goals of the World Economic Forum OTHER than reducing the population?
Is there anything else that makes this Great Reset make any sense?

2024.05.07 07:30 beattywill80 EMSK What Do When You Have A Kidney Stone

  1. CALM. Stay Calm. Do not try and tough it out. The pain can go from moderately uncomfortable to crippling in a matter of minutes.
  2. DOCTOR. Contact your doctor or nurse practitioner and get a prescription for Tamsulosin aka Flomax. It's a urinary tract relaxant. It'll help passing the stone go more quickly and easily. More than likely they're also going to tell you to take some ibuprofen and tylenol. Do it.
P.S. If you can, try and get your doctor to prescribe you an antibiotic to also prevent a urinary tract infection. Not all of them are going to go for it as a prophylactic measure but a UTI will drive you insane once you have it.
P.P.S. If you live in a good state pick up come THC/CBD edibles. You're not trying to get high, you're just trying to take the edge off. 5mg of THC with 25 mg of CBD are about perfect for me and the effects lasts for hours.
  1. HEATING PAD. Bust out the heating pad, you're going to need it. If possible use one that doesn't have a timer on it. The constant heat will help your capillaries relax and should help with the pain. Additionally your body has a good likelihood of having an autoimmune response and kick you into a fever. Keep that heating pad and some blankets handy, it'll help. Pay attention if you get a big shiver out of nowhere, that's your one warning.
  2. SHOWER. Piss into your shower. You read that correctly. Just drop trow and fire straight into the shower. Unless you're hung like a mule you shouldn't even have to handle your junk. Just put one hand on a wall and let it loose. You can clean up with the shower head after. Aiming down at a toilet bowl or sitting down are both gonna prevent you from GETTING THAT ROCK OUT OF YOUR BODY!!!Additionally keep an eye on the color, you see blood go to the hospital.
  3. WAIT. Wait until you have at least half full tank to take a piss. You're going to feel the urge to take a piss every 20 minutes. Wait. Wait until you know you've got a decent chance to build up some pressure and get things moving. Yes, regardless of how much you piss or in what way it's going to exhaust you, keep going.
  4. LEMONADE. You need to be pounding fluids like crazy. Do not drink anything caffeinated as that is a diuretic, it will work counter to your goal by constricting your blood vessels. I like lemonade because it's damn near instant, tasty, cheap, good at any temp, and you can track how many you've drunk by how many packets you've opened.
  5. FRUIT & GINGER. Kidney stones have the added side effect of giving you constipation and nausea. For the constipation there's not much you can do other than eat fruit which will loosen you up. I recommend pineapple, clementines, and mangoes. Stay away from apples and apricots, they will bind you up. For the nausea ginger syrup will help. The recipe for ginger syrup is insanely easy. By either wait or volume take equal parts: ginger, water, and sugar and throw them in the blender. You don't even need to peel the ginger, just give it a rough chop and make sure there's no dirt on it. Blitz until smooth and pulpy. Pour it out into a muslin bag, cheesecloth, or tea towel over a bowl and squeeze the juice into the blow. Throw away the pulp in the cloth and that's it! You just made your syrup. Add it to some water, herbal tea, or lemonade. It also goes well over rice or in a dark and stormy, when you're not sick.
  6. GRAVITY. Lie down on a heating pad if your kidney stone starts killing you, but once it stops hurting get upright. Gravity is going to help you move that rock out of your system. Sitting upright and standing up are going to help. Obviously don't torture yourself, you're an adult act accordingly.
  7. ULTRASOUND. If you get to day five and you still haven't passed that rock: call up your doctor, ask about options with an ultrasound. If it's under a certain size they're going to insist that you pass it naturally, however if it's over a certain size and you're just jammed up they will let you come in. This is obviously not the first option as it's expensive, but it is an option.
I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together.

2024.05.07 07:29 hemantha8055 Stuck in a mess at my workplace involving Privacy Invasion and Family Drama.

I(29F) am in need of some advice on navigating a really complex and stressful situation at work that involves not just cultural sensitivities and privacy breaches, but now direct confrontations in my professional space.
Here’s a bit of background: I’m dealing with a guy(42M) at my job who used to manage one of my current team members(31M) and is still with the company. He’s been overstepping boundaries by meddling in my personal life( way before I even joined the company )—details of which he knows because he's acquainted with my partner on Social Media and is also a distant family relative. On top of that, my old-school Indian parents, who disapprove of my current relationship due to caste issues, have been influenced by him and are convinced he can change my mind and make me leave my partner.
Context here - In India, caste can seriously dictate social norms, and this has led to major family disagreements and unwanted scrutiny. I have been no-contact with my parents for almost 2years due to constant verbal abuse and threats from them. I also suffered a lot of physical abuse until I was 23.
Recent Development:
Just when I thought it couldn’t get more complicated, a coworker of mine brought up these personal issues in a Slack chat and even included my manager in the conversation. They questioned me about the situation right there in the workplace messaging app, making me feel really uncomfortable and cornered about discussing such personal matters in such a public, professional setting.
Here’s the breakdown of what’s happened:
  1. The former manager demanded I discuss my personal relationships at a cafe in my workplace and threatened my job when I pushed back and refused to discuss about the situation any further.
  2. He disclosed my personal life details to my conservative parents, fueling family conflicts.
  3. He spread false rumors about me dating a coworker to my parents, leading to invasive questions from my parents and now, this coworker. Apparently my mom(55F) messaged this coworker on Facebook asking if he’s in a relationship with me and he denied. I asked for these message screenshots from the coworker and he didn’t respond.
  4. This coworker, without any regard for my privacy, brought up these rumors in a Slack chat with our manager present, asking me to clarify these personal issues publicly.
And to top all this off, my work contract is up for renewal soon, and I’m worried about how all this drama might impact my job security. I absolutely love my job, which makes this even more frustrating.
Looking for some wisdom here: Any tips on handling discussions about personal matters in professional settings, especially when they're brought up inappropriately?
Would really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks a bunch!

2024.05.07 07:28 Electrical_One_7400 Applying to UPenn as an American w/ Citizenship and Graduate From a Foreign High School

I have a rather unique case, and despite only being in my first year of high school, I've been looking at College options because having long-term goals truly motivates me. I don't know much about applications, and I'm more or so looking for stats, recommendations and thoughts.
I'm an American from Newark, Delaware, and moved to New Zealand at age 8. My parents never revoked my citizenship (so they pay some American taxes along with me keeping the ability to use the American passport, etc), and I've always wanted to move back to the east coast as soon as I become an adult, which lead me to realizing that college is the last real chance to be in a community of people your age forced to mingle with each other daily; in other words, an essential for someone with no social connection in a new place. This pushed me to look at colleges there.
I narrowed it down to the Delaware/Philly area, which induced my introduction to UPenn. As someone looking at a university with at least good computer science courses and a brilliant social scene to introduce me to people who could help me on my otherwise lonely journey in the States (specifically one on the east coast or near my birthplace), this college really struck me, and so did the acceptance rate.
I talked to my English teacher very briefly about it, and he told me that I'd have a higher chance due to education from a foreign high school in the Anglosphere on top of being an American citizen, granting me the best of both worlds. I previously thought graduation from a foreign establishment would be seen as "less impressive" than that of an American graduate, but maybe I'm wrong.
There's also no way I'd be able to afford tuition for all 4 years at a private ivy coming from a middle class family, so I'd like information on how difficult scholarships are for international students.
Does anyone know if this would impact my personal chance of acceptance to UPenn - either negatively or positively - and any other recommendations based on my preferences (I want to be a computer scientist, the university needs to have a good social life and a relatively large student body, and in/very near the east coast states).
Thank you.

2024.05.07 07:27 Mydesignangel-55 Light Fixtures to Enhance Your Summer Dining Experience

Light Fixtures to Enhance Your Summer Dining Experience
As the days grow longer and the temperatures rise, summer beckons us outdoors to enjoy the pleasures of dining al fresco. Whether you're hosting a casual barbecue with friends or a romantic dinner under the stars, the right lighting can elevate your outdoor dining experience to new heights. From ambient string lights to elegant chandeliers, here are some light fixtures to consider incorporating into your summer dining setup.
https://preview.redd.it/t7hnfldowxyc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c27d9c996f9871e6c1ca1139bedb1dacc2f76c1
1. String Lights:
String lights are a versatile and affordable option for adding ambiance to your outdoor dining area. These twinkling lights come in a variety of styles, including traditional incandescent bulbs, energy-efficient LEDs, and solar-powered options. Hang them overhead to create a canopy of light or drape them along fences, pergolas, or tree branches for a magical effect. Choose warm white lights for a cozy ambiance or go for colorful bulbs to add a festive touch to your summer soirées.
2. Lanterns:
Lanterns are a classic choice for outdoor lighting that adds a touch of charm and elegance to any setting. Whether you prefer traditional metal lanterns, rustic wooden lanterns, or sleek contemporary designs, there's a style to suit every taste. Place them on tables as centerpieces, hang them from shepherd's hooks or tree branches, or line pathways and stairs with them to guide guests to your dining area. For an extra dose of charm, consider lanterns with flickering LED candles that mimic the warm glow of real flames without the safety hazards.
3. Pendant Lights:
Pendant lights are a stylish option for illuminating outdoor dining spaces with a touch of sophistication. Choose weather-resistant fixtures made from materials such as metal, glass, or rattan that can withstand the elements. Hang them above your dining table to create a focal point and provide ample task lighting for eating and socializing. Opt for designs with open shades or woven patterns to allow the breeze to pass through, keeping you cool on warm summer nights.
4. Tiki Torches:
Tiki torches are a fun and festive way to add a tropical flair to your summer dining experience. These iconic fixtures create a warm, flickering glow that not only illuminates your outdoor space but also helps repel mosquitoes and other insects. Place them around the perimeter of your dining area to create a boundary or use them to line pathways and walkways for added ambiance. For an extra touch of authenticity, fill the torch canisters with citronella oil or scented torch fuel to enhance the ambiance and keep bugs at bay.
5. Solar-powered Path Lights:
Solar-powered path lights are a practical and eco-friendly option for illuminating walkways, garden beds, and other outdoor areas. These low-maintenance fixtures harness the power of the sun during the day and automatically turn on at dusk, providing gentle illumination throughout the night. Choose designs with built-in solar panels and rechargeable batteries for hassle-free operation. Place them along paths and stairs to guide guests safely to your dining area while adding a subtle glow to your outdoor landscape.
6. Candlelight:
For a romantic and intimate atmosphere, nothing beats the soft, flickering glow of candlelight. Place pillar candles, votives, or tea lights in hurricane lanterns, mason jars, or decorative candle holders to create a warm and inviting ambiance. Scatter them around your dining area or float them in bowls of water for a magical effect. Be sure to use flameless LED candles or citronella candles if you're concerned about safety or want to repel insects while dining outdoors.
Conclusion:
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood and enhancing the ambiance of your summer dining experience. Whether you prefer the soft glow of string lights, the rustic charm of lanterns, or the elegance of pendant lights, there are plenty of options to choose from to create a magical outdoor oasis. By incorporating these light fixtures into your summer dining setup, you can create a welcoming and enchanting space where you can relax, unwind, and savor the joys of al fresco dining with family and friends. Visit our online store to explore our wide selection of dining table lights, dining table lamps and find the perfect fit for your space.

2024.05.07 07:26 Substantial-Award-20 First New Vegas play-through noticings

I just completed my first play through of FONV and I have to say that I am blown away. I got fallout 4 on launch without any other real experience with fallout games. I beat FO4 well over a dozen times, and it has been my favorite video game for nearly a decade (which feels really weird to say). Throughout the time since I started playing FO4 I have tried to play 3 and NV a few times but never got more than a few hours into a play through before abandoning the game. I recently decided to force myself through a play through and after the 2 or 3 hour mark I was hooked. The graphics were hard to get used to after so much time with FO4, but after a little while it wasn't noticeable. Here are a few things I noticed, as well as a few things to keep in mind if you are in the same boat as me and are exploring older titles after playing FO4.
Things that may help a new player:
There is a lot more, and I know this is very surface level for most of you. If you have any more tips please share them in the comments. I am going to play through FO3 soon so any tips for that are appreciated.

2024.05.07 07:26 Own_Kiwi7870 Which route is better for me to become a common law lawyer (I got lawyer license in China)

Hi all, I am now working as a compliance officer in Hong Kong for almost 4 years for my first job and I got Chinese lawyer license(pending one year traineeship). As I only got the LLM degree in Hong Kong without LLB, I can't take PCLL unless I do JD(I even considered Ulaw/BPP's online GDL/CPE certificate lesson, but heard that it's really hard to get a training contract if I choose that one. Now I know SQE exam maybe a better way, but actually I still wonder is it also a difficult path. Maybe I can go back to Mainland China and get the lawyer license there since I have passed the legal exam, just need to finish 1 year traineeship but the market is not good and the pay is much lower than here, many lawyers from some major firms are sacked. I also consider being a paralegal and then maybe trnasfer to register foreign lawyer(China) in Hong Kong. Apart from that, I tried some legal positions in the company, both in China and Hong Kong, but no interview opportunities till now. .
Do you recommend the SQE exam/BPP GDL/register foreign lawyer path?

2024.05.07 07:24 SpecificClassic565 I am tired of dating women

Rant here.
I identify as a cis woman, and I want to be clear, I absolutely adore women. I’ve known I am gay since I was 4.
I’ve been dating women for about three years . It’s been so hard. So so hard. I live in a very urban city where there is a strong gay presence.
I’d say I’ve talked to over 200 women in the time Ive been on dating apps. Tons of unserious women, tons of ghosting (after the exchange of phone numbers). I keep accidentally attracting women who are traumatized by men and have no real experience with women.
Anyway, i was in a 2 year relationship with my best friend that ended a year ago. Shes a great person, but ultimately there were issues in compatibility. I dated quite a few women after that, and its been just dreadful. I feel so bad for saying this, but the women i dated after her are somewhat mentally ill, traumatized, incapacitated, and have no ambitions- and I end up getting really hurt because of it. I try to help them, change them (which i shouldnt) and I recognize that in large part its because of my scarcity mindset. I constantly feel like I should go back and have settled for my first girlfriend but at the same time I know i would be unhappy in the end.
The dating pool is atrocious. Im sick of it. Im sick of settling. I do have high standards but I never even close to meet them because the dating pool is god awful. Too many women who dont know what they want. I truly wonder what the straight dating pool is like.
Its been so tough. I actually find myself losing attraction to women because of it. I get attention from certain good men in my life who bend over backwards for me, in a way that women never do. I just feel nothing towards them. But i do feel myself pulling away from women and wanting to develop an attraction towards men because I genuinely want a future with someone who is compatible, and I have not met a woman that 50% meets my standards. Unfortunately I have met men who have but feel nothing sexually towards them.
Any advice??? Anyone relate???

2024.05.07 07:23 Abnormal-saline James blunt and the kooks -good or bad?

Probably a weird pairing but somehow when i first started getting into music i started with britpop and they ended up being my 'formative bands. 'i feel they oddly share a similar fate. Never really made it 'big'. Have a loyal fanbase. Had a major hit in the 2000s- 'naive' and 'you're beautiful First 2 albums were brilliant and have kind of been meandering along since then. Ultimately whether or not they're actually good or bad probably lies somewhere in between. For James blunt -Personally 'back to bedlam' and 'all the lost souls' are when he was at his best and forms a complete body of work for me. It's also this earnest songwriting that sort of made him universally hated -at least in pop culture it was cool to hate James blunt (but he obvi made money) Since his 3rd album it feels like he ran ouit of stuff to stay and from 4 onwards i might give the occasional song a listen but feels like he mostly makes uninspired music now. But i can always go back to those first 2 records. As for the kooks i suspect they never made it big outside of the uk, it was just a happy accident i found them all the way in africa. They put out the occasional good song but the first 2 albums are a no skips. Any thoughts? Any fans of both of them?

2024.05.07 07:23 ThrowRA-562024 I (M25) have been with partner (M21) for 6 months. Nothing is bad, but I don’t want to be together anymore. What do I do?

TL;DR Incompatible? Nothing bad, but unhappy.
Hello, I’ve been with my partner for about 6 months, going on seven. When we met, I had been out of the dating scene for around 3 or 4 years. We connected pretty quickly, but now I’m not so sure I want to continue. I feel like I burned bright and fast, but now I’m burnt out.
I am not a talkative person, I really only speak when I have something to say and I value silence. I’m not someone who’s particularly attached to my phone either. I also am not really a sexual person, it doesn’t come across my mind often, and I don’t feel much of a drive to do things.
He is a very talkative person. If he isn’t saying something, he is making noises to fill the dead air. He frequently calls or texts me, looking for updates on what I’m up to. He is also a very sexual person in comparison.
I personally don’t mind being alone, but he’s a clingy and emotional person. If I can’t respond to his calls or texts for whatever reason, he gets sad. If I don’t talk enough or give him enough attention when we are together, he gets sad. If I speak a certain way, he gets sad. We had a serious conversation once, and he cried rather hard because he thought I’d leave him.
I feel like I am walking on eggshells at times. I feel like I have to wring myself dry of all my energy to entertain him sometimes.
I understand it’s my fault for choosing to be with someone so different from me , but we got along so well that it didn’t seem like an issue.
It isn’t all bad all the time of course. He is a special guy with a big heart with lots of love to give, but I find myself imagining my life without him more than with him.
Nothing is outright bad. He isn’t abusive or a terrible person. I try to reason it in my head as “I’m not what’s right for him right now” but I feel like it’s much more selfish than that. When I imagine his voice and the pain he will feel if I leave him though, I get sick. I don’t want to hurt him, but I don’t feel like I’m as happy as I should be and I feel like he deserves better, even if he says I’m the best he’s ever had.
We’ve had some beat-around-the-bush conversations about this, but I avoid being forward with this because I know how he can get.
I guess I just am looking for advice or a push. What should I do? Do I rip off the bandaid, say my piece, and leave just like that? Do I try and do it gently but go through all the emotions? Thoughts?

2024.05.07 07:23 ProfessionalShoe5591 Entitled bridezilla is burning every bridge she's every built

I swore I wasn't going to post this on Reddit, but I feel like Charlotte and the potato possy would enjoy this piping hot tea just as much as I have so far! For context, I am on the outside of this drama, but every piece of info I have comes from screenshots of the real conversations had between BC and various family members, or from speaking directly to family members involved.
My bridezilla cousin (40F), let's call her BC for short, has been actively burning all her family bridges over the past few years. I don't know when she got so entitled, and she seems to blow things way out of proportion when they don't go her way. A good example of this is when her and her fiancee bought a house, the majority of the family talked smack about it because it was in terrible condition. A cousin offered to help with wiring, did some of the job and then bailed. BC and fiancee showed up to said cousins workplace and made a huge scene. Does that seem justified? I thought so too, but with the wedding drama unfolding now, I think maybe she left out some important details about that wiring fiasco.
On to the wedding drama! BC and fiancee have been engaged for about 3 years, and have planned a destination wedding. They sent out save-the-dates 2 years in advance, asking guests to put a deposit down for the trip. At the time, everyone was just getting back to work after COVID, and nobody knows what their financial situation will be come time for the wedding, so nobody put down a deposit. No problem.
Jump ahead to about 2 months ago, when the kettle started boiling. Wedding is about a year away now, and BC has started collecting everyone's info for the travel agent. I find out that BC's bridesmaids consists completely of cousins. Not that this is a bad thing, but BC has a few childhood friends that she has always been close with, and I just assumed they would be in the wedding party. Turns out, BC had a falling out with all of them, over the fiancee (did I forget to mention that very few people like the fiancee? He's done some VERY questionable things at family and friend gatherings, but that's a story for another time). I don't know exactly what happened between BC, fiancee and BC's long time friends, but it qas bad enough to bring 30 years of friendship to an end.
Back to the cousin bridal party; BC has always been close with the cousins, so them standing seemed like a great choice! They were excited to stand, and BC told everyone what the approximate price would be, all was good! Then the entitled bridezilla requests started to come to light.
It would turn out that BC decided she wants her bridal party to purchase not one, not two, but THREE bridesmaids dresses for different events. All different colours, all matching each other. Then we add specific shoes, hair and makeup for at least 2 events. Now tack on stag and doe contributions from the bridal party, and a bachelorette party where the bridesmaids weren't allowed to give any input on the date BC selected for it. An expensive airBnB and a bus rental for the bachelorette, and all this extra cost is to be split between the 4 bridesmaids. Not to mention that 3 out of 4 bridesmaids live out of town and likely won't be able to make it to the bachelorette. Not to worry though, BC would like the spa at the wedding resort to be rented out FOR THE ENTIRE DAY, for a secondary destination bachelorette.
Does this sound overboard? Hang tight, I haven't even gotten to the drama yet.
So far bridesmaids are looking at a few thousand dollars for just the cost of standing in the wedding. But that's okay, because BC has been telling everyone that the price for a week at the destination wedding resort is only $2500 per COUPLE. That's a great price right? Too bad it was a LIE. A few of the bridesmaids decide to contact the travel agent about the price, and to their shock, the agent had no idea why BC would have told them it was that cheap, because it definitely wasn't. At this point, prices haven't been released yet, but the travel agent knows for sure that it'll be more than what BC told everyone.
Moving right along here, BC reaches out to invited guests and tells them to be prepared, prices are dropping tomorrow (a Monday) and deposits need to be placed by Saturday. If deposits aren't paid, the price will go up. Well, Tuesday comes and goes, then Wednesday, and Thursday, no prices. Not to worry though, BC informs us that the resort has allowed for an extension, so they will hold the price for an extra 2 days. BUT THERE IS NO PRICE RELEASED?! by this time, I'm questioning if maybe I missed a post, or if I'm supposed to be reaching out to the travel agent myself? Nope. Prices were released Saturday, and we had to pay the deposit by Monday. Personally, I think 2 days to decide on a trip isn't enough time, but we all knew it was coming, so it should be fine right? GUESS AGAIN. Remember that $2500 per couple price we were told to save up for? It turns out that it'll actually cost $5500 per couple, and that doesn't even include the 4 hour drive to the airport and back!
Now shit starts to hit the fan. None of the bridesmaids can afford this, and BC starts losing it.
Everything I'm about to share has happened within the last month. For simplicity, I will be giving two of the bridesmaids names. They will be Anne and Beth.
Beth reaches out to BC. She's trying her best to find cheaper airfare so she might still be able to attend, but it's not looking good. BC immediately snaps. "You've had 2 years to save for this. If I knew you'd bail on me a year before my wedding, I wouldn't have asked you to stand. It's not that much money".
I beg your finest pardon? l desperately wish I was rich enough to say that $6000 isn't that much money.
Beth keeps her cool and tried to explain. "I have to prioritize feeding my kids over a trip. Between childcare OR bringing them to the wedding, kenneling for my dogs, and a weeks worth of missed wages, it's just too much".
BC is pissed. Then, with audacity that I have never experienced before, she dares to say "your mom should pay for you to come".
Quick side note here: apparently at a different cousins wedding earlier in the year, Beth's mom told BC that she would help Beth and another bridesmaid to be able to afford the cost to stand in BC's wedding. She said this because the price was supposedly $2500 per couple. Beth's mom planned to spend about 8-9 thousand dollars for 8 people to go, but now the price is about $20,000 for everyone. Beth's mom also messages BC and kindly stated that had she known it would be that expensive, she wouldn't have offered to pay the way for 8 people, and cannot afford the actual price.
Back to the conversation. Beth is livid. "I don't know when you became so entitled, but it's not my mom's responsibility to pay for me just because you decided on an expensive wedding". There was a little.more back and forth between Beth and BC, but ultimately Beth blocks BC's number and will not be attending the wedding.
While all this is happening, BC is contacting tons of guests to verify their attendance. One cousin in particular stated that they couldn't go because they just bought a house and are trying to get pregnant, so it's not in the budget. Come to find out a few weeks later that she was already pregnant and wasn't ready to tell any one yet, BC immediately took that news as disrespectful and said "congratulations, thanks for leaving us out". She then followed up with "it's pretty rude to have found out about the pregnancy from someone else in the family and not you, you should have messaged me". I should clarify here, this cousin and BC are not close.
So far, since getting engaged, BC has ruined her relationship with her friends, with Beth, Beth's mom, and pregnant cousin. Let's move on to Anne.
While BC and Beth were arguing, Anne was also messaging BC. "I don't know if I'll be able to afford that price, it's a lot more than we had discussed. I might not be able to attend the wedding, but I'm still here for the stag and doe!". Anne is a sweetheart that doesn't want to cause drama. She got the same responses as Beth did. Is not that expensive, you've had 2 years to save up, have you considered flying from a different airport or only staying a few days at the resort, etc. at this point, Anne is planning on dropping out at a bridesmaid, but is trying to come up with a safe way to break it to BC.
This leads us up to today. Anne works at a jewelry store and has been helping BC with the wedding bands, and likely getting her a discount on them. BC shows up to pick up the rings, but Anne is in the back on her break, so another employee serves BC. BC takes this opportunity to tell this employee how Anne is screwing her over and bailing on the wedding even though she's had 2 years to save up, and discussing Anne's PRIVATE financial hardships. BC was basically telling this employee that she thinks financial hardship isn't a good enough excuse, because she's had 2 years to save so this shouldn't affect anything. BC left to store, and of course, the employee told Anne right away what BC said. Anne is distraught, embarrassed, and absolutely fuming. She's finally hit her breaking point, and after cooling down a bit, she messages BC. "Telling my coworker about my private financial situation was embarrassing and uncalled for, and it's even more embarrassing when you keep bringing it up. I've done with you constantly talking behind my back, and as if now, I will no longer be rearranging my time and finances for any wedding related."
Anne blocked BC, and when BC tried to reach out on a different platform, Anne blocked her from that one too.
We are still a year away from the wedding, and I will definitely update you all with new info as it comes!

2024.05.07 07:23 MicroSpartan319 [Fo4] I don’t know how to figure out what is causing a crash

I’ve got a heavily modded game, I’m talking 60+ mods. It was stable with little to no issues when I played about a year ago. Now with the new update, it’s almost functional, but it consistently crashes about 3-5 minutes in to actual gameplay (I tested and it won’t crash in main menu or paused in game). I’ve updated f4se but I understand that it’s not completely stable yet. My problem is that, if I assume the problem isn’t just that f4se still has problems, I have no idea what one of my mods could be causing it. Since it takes a fair amount of playtime before the crash occurs, I don’t think taking the mods off 1 at a time would be very effective (it would be around 4 hours of only testing at a minimum). Should I just wait for f4se to become more stable? Or is there an alternative way to discover what mod(s) are causing the crash?

2024.05.07 07:21 heysawbones Is the siding texture upside down? (HF2)

Am I losing my mind? I’m pretty sure that when the panel siding texture is horizontal (looks like 0 position?), it’s upside down (shadows are baked toward the top instead of the bottom, and boards appear to protrude towards the top instead of the bottom). You can’t rotate it into the correct position. Just… almost to it. You know. 3/4 of the way there.
With so few textures for the outside of houses, why 😫

2024.05.07 07:20 RoyalKyn Beyonder

Has anyone here seen Lord of the Mysteries? Inspired by love craft mythos, SCP, tarot cards, mysticism, etc.
A Victorian era setting novel on Webnovel by Cuttlefish who loves diving.
https://lordofthemysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Beyonder?so=search
Here’s a general overview of the power system
Beyonders are the sentient creatures who have supernatural powers.
There are 22 “pathways” that each have their own domain of abilities and specializations.
There’s no “mana,” instead they have spirituality. This is directly linked to the soul and is somewhat like the life force of the soul.
The source of powers are Beyonder characteristics. A Beyonder has either consumed one in the form of a potion or been bestowed a Boon (borrowed power) by a powerful Beyonder. Each pathway has 10 sequences from 0-9. Sequence 9 is lowest, 0 is highest.
The way to grasp beyonder powers is “acting.”
Each sequence has a name, like a job/career. Example: clown, seer, magician, faceless, attendant of mysteries.
You need to act the part to “digest” the potion and enhance the powers. Acting generally has similar principles for a sequence, but may differ from person to person.
There is also mysticism which is non exclusive to any pathway, and mystical languages such as Words of Order or the Ancient Hermes language. Mysticism involves rituals and creating charms which have temporary power.
8-9 is a Low Sequence Beyonder 5-7 is Mid Sequence Beyonder 0-4 is High Sequence Beyonder
There are a fixed number of characteristics, following the law of conservation.
A potion is formed from characteristics, which are obtained through 2 ways: - kill a beyonder and take their characteristic, as there is a fixed amount in the world - kill several creatures that each have partial amounts of the necessary characteristics
However, if you kill a beyonder, you also take the previous sequence’s characteristics. For example, killing a sequence 8 to take a sequence 8 characteristic also contains the previous sequence 9.
Pathways can be interchanged within the adjacent pathways at the high sequence, either at sequence 4 or 3.
Beyonder characteristics also come with a certain risk.
All Beyonder characteristics carry the former beyonder’s residual will and it can corrupt the next consumer. At the high sequence, this can lead to their resurrection and taking over the body.
Potions also have the effect of reducing sanity and can cause a “loss of control” which turns you into a mindless monster.
A boon bestowed onto you can grant the same powers and effects as a potion, but can be taken back at any time.
A Beyonder characteristic can also be turned into a Mystical object, which is a dangerous object that can be used to partially use the pathway’s powers, but it also has negative effects.
Within the High Sequence there are classifications: - 0: True Deity - King of angels - 1: angel/archangel - 2: angel/grounded angel - 3: saint - 4: saint
There exists a level between 1 and 0. When you obtain more than 1 characteristic of Sequence 1, or the only Sequence 0 characteristic (aka “uniqueness” of the pathway). This level is called King of Angels.
The three main laws of this universe are the Law of Convergence, Law of Indestructibility, and Law of Similar Sequence Conservation.
Law of convergence: all characteristics of the same and even adjacent pathways will naturally converge. This manifests invisibly in the form of fate.
Law of similar sequence conservation: there is a fixed number of characteristics. If there’s more high sequence, there is less low sequence available.
Law of indestructibility: Beyonder characteristics can never be created or destroyed.
