2024.05.28 20:24 Charredsnuggle I need help :(

I’m really looking for advice. I’m completely at a loss. I wanted to be shredded for my upcoming wedding and everything feels like it’s going wrong. I did a bulk, and went on for about 16 weeks? I started my bulk at 135LBS and went up to 146LBS. I started my cut March 12th of this year, so we’re looking at 11 weeks now and I have seen really weird results. It took about 7 weeks of no weightloss to starting to see it. This is slower that my last cut, but fine whatever. I got down to 140.5 and then… my weight started to go up????? It’s been gradually going up?????? Today my check in was 144 so 4 weeks of progress is in the trash. Now a couple things. My wedding is Aug 18th, so now I’ve got 11 weeks to lose 8 pounds and I’m like having mental breakdowns daily? Everything online when I’ve looked it up says there’s probably something wrong with me, but last time I did blood work I was healthy? The only thing that is causing so much stress is because I bought my dress at the peak of my cut last year, so I’m stressed I won’t be able to fit my own dress on my day. Now, I’ve been following John meadows program that is progressive overload (this has worked for me in the past), and doing 15 minutes of intense stair steps on days that aren’t leg days. I recently changed to a WFH job, so to offset I pretty much completely cut out carbs, so I only have salad (with measured dressing), and chicken. I weigh my foods out, and drink water constantly. Now the issue is over the weekend for a couple of weeks I had been invited to drink with pals, so to try and be as good as possible I would - drink a lot of water, not eat for the day, and only drink Straight liquor and sour mix, so I wasn’t having the highest calorie drinks. My pee is bright yellow to clear, so I know that I’m hydrated; and it can’t be water weight but I’m still not seeing what I want? What do I do? I’m literally about to hit a breaking point and give up :)

2024.05.28 20:23 OK-Museum-8214 Extremely Challenged Hurricane Prep - Seeking Help with Food and Evacuation in Apartment

I live in a city prone to hurricanes. Considering relocation isn't an option, I could use some guidance on prepping for food and evacuation planning. I live alone in a 3rd floor apartment with strict rules against storing flammable items (butane cookers), and I can't drive or ride long due to a medical condition. I take local ride shares for transportation. My diet is pretty restricted—I can't have gluten, sugar, processed stuff, or canned/dried foods because of allergies and histamine intolerance. My diet consists of cooking all meals - mostly rice, buckwheat, fresh & frozen produce, meat, legumes & beans. I've taken care of the essentials: I've got a military-grade 5 gallon water storage, a Styrofoam cooler, a mini freezer, LED lights, spare batteries, and small battery banks for my phone. Plus, I've prepped for health, safety, and finances. Any tips on what foods to stock up on and how to cook them, plus any advice on evacuation planning, would be a huge help. And if you know any cooking methods that won't break the apartment rules, or any community resources I should check out, I'm all ears!

2024.05.28 20:17 cosmicoldbrew Help Needed: MacBook Air 2018 System Storage Issues and OS Update Advice

Hi everyone,
I'm in need of some advice regarding my MacBook Air (2018). Here's the situation:
I've been trying to clear out some files to free up space, but the bulk of my storage is taken up by "System" files, and I can't figure out how to access or reduce this. My goal is to make enough space so that I can update to a more recent macOS version.
Questions:
  1. How can I access and manage the System storage to free up space?
  2. Is there a way to safely clean up or reduce the System storage without risking my important files?
  3. What steps should I follow to update from macOS Mojave to a newer version without running into space issues?
  4. Any recommendations for tools or methods to optimize storage on macOS Mojave?
  5. Would updating the OS help in managing the System storage more efficiently? -- I'd like to update, but I literally have NO storage. Trust me I have tried!!
  6. Would just wiping the whole laptop be efficient? LOL.
Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
Edit: Just to add, I’ve already tried basic methods like clearing cache, deleting unnecessary files, and using built-in tools like Disk Utility, but the System storage remains stubbornly large.

PSA: before buying burritos, read nutritional info
I was looking for an easy breakfast. Bought some burritos… and discovered they’re one of the worst foods (nutritionally) that I’ve ever seen at Costco (image 2)… 85% of saturated fat before 9am!
On the flip side: if you’re trying to bulk/gain weight, these might be perfect for you. They are pretty substantial and packed with cheese, if that’s your kind of thing.

Guys, I just stumbled on this bizarre book called "The Lost Superfoods" and let me tell you, it's got some wild recipes I've never even heard of! Apparently, it teaches you how to make food that can last for YEARS, even DECADES.
Here's some of the crazy stuff I found in the book:
The U.S. Doomsday Ration: This military superfood was designed to feed people in the worst-case scenario, and it only costs 37 cents a day! Apparently, it can last forever too! Gotta try this one out.
Canning Hamburger Meat: Never run out of burgers again! This book shows you how to can your own ground beef for long-term storage. Perfect for those nights when you just need some comfort food.
20+ Year Shelf Life for Beans and Rice: Forget those plastic bins that bugs love! This book teaches a "dry canning" method that supposedly keeps beans and rice good for over 20 years! Sounds too good to be true...
The book also dives into forgotten survival foods from history:
The Great Depression Superfood: This mystery food kept America from starving and apparently tastes amazing! It lasts for 2 years without refrigeration and is packed with nutrients. What could it be?
Civil War Lifesaver: This food uses something most people throw away! It's surprisingly nutritious and can be a goldmine during a crisis. I wonder what it is...
Pemmican: The Ultimate Survival Food: This Native American recipe combines dried meat, fat, and berries into a super-dense food that lasts for years and provides tons of calories. Perfect for bugging out!
This book is seriously eye-opening! Whether you're a prepper, a history buff, or just curious about forgotten foods, "The Lost Superfoods" is a must-read. Anyone else heard of this book? What lost food are you most curious about?
If you want to take a look or even get your copy, here is the link to the book https://thelostsurvivalfoods.com/?shield=2915e5q3h2gdvf473hxej09t3d

2024.05.28 19:59 DaEquus13 What's an appropriate price to charge?

My wife has been tasked with handling the social media & advertising for a new 2 day music festival in South Florida that they want to happen over Labor Day weekend. The owner hasn't yet provided her with any budget or financial expectation.
With a team of 4 people handling advertising across different mediums, influencer outreach, and social media posting + content capture before & during the festival (with additional help from photogs & drone pros) + content editing and social media posting for a few months after the event.
She is used to small-medium sized business but is up for the challenge of this.
What is a reasonable fee to charge for this contract?
She was thinking $10,000/month for the social media & ads, $5000 + food and hotel accomodations for the festival, and then another $10,000/month for editing and posting all of the content captured during the festival & storage for next year.
Is this reasonable??

2024.05.28 19:49 Electronic_Horse_980 Understanding Reverse Osmosis Systems: What You Need to Know

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that has gained widespread use for both industrial and residential applications. The process involves the use of a semi-permeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles from water. This technology is particularly effective in removing contaminants such as salts, bacteria, and other impurities, making it a popular choice for improving water quality.
In a reverse osmosis system, water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure. This membrane allows only water molecules to pass through, while filtering out impurities based on their size and molecular structure. The purified water is collected on one side of the membrane, while the concentrated contaminants are flushed away. This process typically requires a significant amount of pressure to overcome the osmotic pressure and force the water through the membrane.
Reverse osmosis systems are used in a variety of applications, ranging from desalination of seawater to providing clean drinking water in homes. In industrial settings, RO systems are used to purify water for boiler feeds, pharmaceutical production, food processing, and wastewater treatment. Residential RO systems are commonly installed under kitchen sinks to provide purified drinking water directly from the tap, removing up to 99% of contaminants.
A typical reverse osmosis plant system consists of several key components, including a pre-filter to remove sediment and chlorine, a semi-permeable membrane where filtration occurs, a post-filter to improve taste and remove any remaining contaminants, and a storage tank for purified water. The system also includes a pressure pump to facilitate the flow of water through the membrane, ensuring efficient purification.
One of the main advantages of reverse osmosis systems is their ability to produce high-quality drinking water that is free from most contaminants. They are also relatively low-maintenance compared to other water treatment methods, requiring periodic filter changes and membrane replacements. However, RO systems can be inefficient in terms of water usage, as they produce a concentrated brine stream that must be disposed of properly.
Reverse osmosis technology continues to play a crucial role in water purification, offering an effective solution for both industrial and residential water treatment needs. By understanding how reverse osmosis systems work and their applications, consumers and businesses alike can make informed decisions about implementing this technology to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water.

2024.05.28 19:43 fertile_unsullied Itinerary Review - Looking for feedback!

Hi! My fiancé and I are traveling to Japan in 2 weeks for our honeymoon and looking for feedback on our itinerary below. Any veteran tips based on the itinerary is super appreciated. If it matters for feedback, one of us is a vegetarian and one of us doesn't eat pork. While that requires some additional planning ahead, it doesn't seem to be too limiting, at least in Tokyo and Kyoto where we will spend most of our time. We generally love walking, hiking, and cool nature experiences. We do not plan to get a JR Pass, as it doesn't seem at all worth it with our travel schedule, but have already gotten digital Suica cards in our Apple Wallets.
The bulk of the time will be in the Kyoto area, so would love any feedback on the daily itineraries - if you think we're doing too much/too little/any food recommendations/etc.

2024.05.28 19:38 SpecialAXD Life of a picky eater

Hello, I'm a (15M) who's turning 16 this year, I don't really know how do i say this but i am a picky eater, i basically judge food for their texture/smell/look determining either i like it or not and somehow even without tasting, I could predict i don't like the food so even though i judge, I basically can be right about how i think about it and even if i were to like it, The texture/smell/look can basically make me avoid it, I rather not change myself, I'm fine with that
But my only problem is that i don't know what to else eat then, I could rarely find foods to eat, And not just that, The worse of all is that i am trying to change my lifestyle because i am weak, My body looks horrible, Lean/skinny, I'm actually a very unhealthy person i just somehow never gain weight idk whats going on but i'd want my weight to be about protein not some useless food fat, I can't bulk, Because i don't eat whatever i see and i don't got money to buy something for my own because i'm a minor not a grown adult
I've thought of making money but idk how do i even start, Tried Shopify, Felt complicated, Tried being a content creator because i also like making videos as passion but never worked, Thought of car washing but idk how do i even do that, Thoughts of getting anything from the Internet for free and/or buying it to sell it for a higher value, Maybe its due to where i live because my country is extremely strict not just in culture law but in laws that don't even make sense
My third problem of being a picky eater is because there is no doubt picky eaters find themself rude, It really doesn't matter if someone is fine with it and understands it, It still feels rude so whenever i come visit people, I don't want to admit anything but to try and pretend like i'm full or smth same goes to what if i got married and started a family? will this be the way i do to my future wife?
I've wanted to change myself rather than eating randomly like giving myself only 1-2 day(s) of a week to eat whatever i want while for the rest of the days, Eat properly
I don't want to wait till i get older to finally start doing that because why so if you can do it as even before starting your teenage? And i really need it because i'm extremely weak
Is there any advice? And if no then how do i turn my life from making money from hard to easy? How do people even have the power of making money as a teenager?

2024.05.28 19:34 HugeLag New To Fasting - Is it body adjusting or health issues?

Hi!
I started IF around 2 days ago. I am a male, weight 133kg, after 20 years of bulking I finally want to lose weight. However, I have taken it safe and doing 16:8. My primary concerns are that I have been feeling really low energy, kind of mild dizziness, shakiness, also last night during my fast I was awoken to some random loose motions? Didn't eat anything bad.
Are all these just signs that my body is adjusting to a new norm? I really want to believe that. I don't want to start fearing and thinking I should stop because I really feel like the intermittent fasting will allow me to reach my goals. I just want to clarify with IF Vets on this thread if they basically felt like complete shit when starting out. Will things get better?
My previous diet as of 2 days ago which I have completely abandoned consisted of complete junk, processed sugars, crisps, fizzy drinks, take out all the time. Now that I am fasting 16:8 I am incorporating foods like eggs, toast, pasta that's it. Should I maybe change the pasta for a lean piece of meat everyday?

2024.05.28 19:22 LAProbert Seeking help with money to get stolen stuff back

I'm not usually one to ask like this, but this year has swept my feet out from under me.
Basically 2nd week of January, I found out that my father had child porn on his computer. I reported him to the police. After he got released the next day on bail, he kicked me out the house, making me homeless.
For the next two months I had to sofa surf at friends. Building up more and more debt as I had to keep travelling back and forth, buying food, helping with bills. All the while unable to work. I also had to pay for storage for the possessions I was finally given back.
However, my father has kept over 10k+ of my stuff to try and force me to pay half the cleaning bill he built up after kicking me out. I'm desperate to get my stuff back, but don't have the money he wants or the money to pay for a lawyer.
If there is anything you could do to help, I'd be massively grateful.
Thank you in advance, Liam
P.s. I now have a GoFundMe setup, if you are able to help. https://gofund.me/9a8f7eda

2024.05.28 18:17 lietuviskasbananas Can increased protein intake cause weight gain?

Hi there, been lifting for over a year, the begginer gains were great, but the process slowed down a lot so I thought about increasing my protein intake from the usual 50-90g a day (it varied a lot day by day) to atleast 110g every day (20M, 170cm, 70kg), but I noticed that I started to gain weight quite rapidly (~1.5kg every week) even though I'm not eating unhealthy foods (it's mostly just quark, meat, eggs, proteinshakes, ocasional croissant), is it water weight or is it just impossible to reach the protein goal without gaining weight? I do not want to bulk up so I'm rethinking my choices.

We spend valuable time preparing food and entertaining family, friends and guests in our kitchen spaces, so an appealing kitchen wall decor will not only elevate your mood, but also express your personality and lifestyle.
Unfortunately, many consider the kitchen a space predominantly for practical tasks, forgetting the benefits of adding some style and design. If you have space on your kitchen walls that is crying out for something beautiful to fill it, get inspiration from these kitchen wall decor ideas and upgrade your kitchen's interior design, one wall at a time.
  1. Kitchen Shelf Decor
There are many ways that you can decorate your kitchen shelves to make them aesthetically pleasing. You can either go with a particular theme that corresponds to the rest of the space or simply mix and match different kitchen accessories, creating a unique and eclectic look.
Another way to utilise open shelving is to use them for storage by displaying practical items that can be used whilst in the kitchen, whether that be for baking, cooking or prep work.
  1. Kitchen Wall Tile Pattern
A wall tile pattern can liven up the look of any kitchen wall decor and kitchen counter space. Tiles are still a very popular choice for kitchen backsplashes or an accent wall, as they are durable and can easily be wiped clean after food splashes. There is certainly no shortage of styles and patterns to choose from either.
  1. Kitchen Blackboard Wall
Creating a kitchen blackboard wall is really simple and is a cost-effective way of decorating an entire wall. Simply purchase a tin of chalkboard paint and cover any wall of your choice. Blackboard paint allows you to write on any wall or door to which it is applied, using traditional chalk or chalk pens. You can then erase it with a chalk rubber or damp cloth when you're done.
A kitchen blackboard wall can also bring some much-needed organisational relief to a kitchen. Use it to jot down shopping lists, recipe ingredients, or even to-do lists. If your kitchen is short on counter space, a blackboard wall can also be a great place to write preparation notes for cooking, meal planning, jotting down recipe instructions and cooking timings.

2024.05.28 17:15 non_player Question about the new ship decoration tools: can we remove clutter from existing ships now?

I have a ship or two in my fleet that were purchased or acquired, that are full of clutter. Is it possible now to remove individual bits? Like, I'd really like to remove those now-useless weapon cases from the second floor of the Razorleaf now that they've been opened, or some of the useless extra box clutter from a Deimos ship I purchased.
EDIT: To clarify, I'm not talking about useless common items that can otherwise be picked up, like coffee mugs and food wrappers, and so on. Were it that stuff I'd just manually grab it all and call it good. I'm talking about things like useless non-interactable set dressing items like fake storage cubes, loot boxes that can't be used once opened, and so on.

2024.05.28 16:55 ingredientsonline How to Use Potassium Sorbate Granular in Home Canning and Preserving

Preserving fruits, vegetables, and other foods at home can extend their shelf life and ensure they're enjoyed long after harvest. Potassium Sorbate Granular is a valuable ingredient in this process, helping to inhibit the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria. Here's how to use Potassium Sorbate Granular effectively in home canning and preserving:
Prepare Your Ingredients: Wash and prepare the fruits or vegetables you plan to preserve. Ensure they are fresh and free from any signs of spoilage.
Follow Your Recipe: Choose a canning or preserving recipe that suits your ingredients and preferences. Be sure to follow the recipe instructions carefully.
Add Potassium Sorbate Granular: Once your ingredients are prepared and placed in jars or containers, add Potassium Sorbate Granular according to the recommended dosage. Typically, 1/4 teaspoon of Potassium Sorbate Granular is sufficient for each quart of liquid or fruit mixture.
Mix Thoroughly: Stir the Potassium Sorbate Granular into the food mixture to ensure it is evenly distributed. This helps to inhibit the growth of microorganisms throughout the preserved food.
Seal Your Jars or Containers: Secure lids tightly on the jars or containers to create an airtight seal. This helps to prevent contamination and spoilage.
Process as Directed: Follow the processing instructions provided in your recipe. This may involve heat processing, water bath canning, or pressure canning, depending on the type of food being preserved.
Store Properly: Once processed, store your preserved foods in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Proper storage conditions help to maintain the quality and shelf life of your preserved foods.
By following these steps and incorporating Potassium Sorbate Granular into your home canning and preserving routine, you can enjoy delicious, shelf-stable fruits, vegetables, and other foods year-round.
