2024.05.19 10:52 Ok_Presentation5164 Union?

Very new to Reddit not new to Marketsource. Need this to stay anonymous but I have enough perspective on this company to know how DM’s and Regional leaders trickle down responsibility, awareness, and communication to basic sales reps and let’s just say- it ain’t great! My question for the Vets is- has anyone ever tried to unionize? I also know next to nothing about labor unions. But I consider myself a reasonably compassionate person who has been responsible for “training” new hires knowing they’re gonna be stuck in some store in front of let’s say a grieving mother who has to remove her child from her cc account or someone on their 4th or 5th tracfone that wont activate….
My point is, I’ve seen so many smart and talented people join this company and quit so fast because of what I perceive to be totally fixable qualms with training, compensation, etc. I can’t in good conscience recommend the job to any of my friends or family knowing what I know, but I’d like that to change. Even though the position we occupy with target is apparently so tenuous

2024.05.18 20:48 SaturnIonFan Due to the amount of "what phone works with X carrier" posts, here's something I wrote about feature phones and American cell networks.

This is available with inline URLs and the one image that belongs to this piece on my website: https://konat.xyz/in_house/econobox_/cell_usa
"Using a feature phone in the USA: a brief guide to carrier activation and MVNOs"
This page is not meant to serve as an advertisement for any particular service or product, and has merely been written for informational purposes only.
Introduction
Unlike many other places in the world, the USA uses a completely different set of LTE bands for cellular communications, additionally, American carriers impose device restrictions, which may adversely impact uses of feature phones, as they often are heavily locked down to the carriers from which they came originally, or have to be imported. This guide simply outlines my experiences dealing with the three major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) and general assumptions about regional carriers (such as U.S. Cellular and Viaero Wireless).
AT&T
AT&T is potentially the worst provider for feature phone users, given that AT&T enforces a whitelist of devices which may be used on their network (PDF: read the whitelist on KONAT.xyz, mirroring the original on att.com), which impairs the use of feature phones as only a handful of models (mainly AT&T/Cricket branded [in-house] models, US-market Nokias, and rugged/work-oriented devices from manufacturers such as Kyocera). From experience, AT&T's enforcement of the whitelist is generally extremely strict, to the extent that your account may be suspended for using non-whitelisted devices.
Even if a device works on AT&T's network and is whitelisted, it may not have additional features (such as WiFi calling) functioning on the network. Additionally, carrier variants of devices (i.e. the variant sold by T-Mobile) may not be whitelisted. Below is a non-exhaustive list of MNOs/MVNOs which do and do not enforce the whitelist; this list may become outdated at any time.
AT&T uses LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, 30, 46, and 66. In my experience, bands 12, 17 and 2 are the most useful to have in urban areas. Band 14 is used for the First Responder Network Authority (commonly referred to as FirstNet). I would not advise using a device without complete band compatibility outside of urban areas.
ENFORCES WHITELIST: AT&T post-paid, AT&T pre-paid, Cricket Wireless (the prior three are all owned by AT&T). The vast majority of MVNOs can also be assumed to be enforcing the whitelist.
DOES NOT ENFORCE WHITELIST: H2O Wireless, FreedomPop, RedPocket GSMA
T-Mobile
In general, T-Mobile can be argued to be the best provider for feature phone users, as it does not enforce a whitelist, and generally allows any device with the LTE bands used in a particular area to function on the network and utilize VoLTE, WiFi calling, or other carrier functions. To further simplify this, this means T-Mobile will allow the use of imported devices which have the band(s) required to function in a particular area, as well as devices from other carriers, in addition to US-market unlocked devices and devices sold specifically for T-Mobile's network.
T-Mobile also operates an EDGE/2G network and small slivers of HSPA/3G. The EDGE network is moribund at best (and hasn't been expanded in well over a decade, nor does it appear to be a going concern maintenance-wise), and the remaining slivers of HSPA are officially meant to be offline. T-Mobile's legacy networks should not be depended upon for reliable communication.
T-Mobile operates on the following network bands relevant to feature phone users: EDGE/2G: 1900 MHz (PCS) LTE: 2, 4, 5 (only utilized in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), 12, 66, and 71.
From experience, devices lacking any band other than B2 will work in urban areas, but B12 is generally needed for indoors signal. B71 is needed for good coverage in rural areas. As a resource for figuring out which bands are in use in particular areas, take a look at the band rollout map.
For reference, MVNOs which operate on T-Mobile include Mint Mobile, Ultra Mobile, MetroPCS (the prior three all are owned by T-Mobile), Tello, and US Mobile.
Verizon Wireless
I would personally rank Verizon as second-best for feature phone users, as Verizon generally allows any device with LTE band 13 to utilize their network. Verizon does restrict new activations, however, this can be bypassed by activating a new SIM card in a cell phone that is known to work with Verizon (such as an Apple iPhone or similar known-working device) and moving the SIM card to the B13-having feature phone (or other non-accepted B13-having) device after confirming that the activation went through successfully.
Devices without B13 may work in urban areas, but may not have voice or SMS functionality (limited to data only), thus, it is a necessity to use a device with B13. Additionally, some MVNOs on Verizon's network (the only one I know of currently is TracFone and associated brands [Simple Mobile, Total Wireless/by Verizon, Straight Talk, et. al.) may bind the SIM card to the device it was activated in, and in this case will likely suspend accounts for moving the SIM, even into another 100% functional device, thus making it impossible to use devices that require the above activation method.
Verizon uses the following LTE bands: 2, 4, 5, 13, 46, 48 and 66
MVNOs that operate on Verizon's network include TracFone et. al., Visible Wireless (the prior two are owned by Verizon), US Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile.

2024.05.18 20:29 J_G_Madhaus Pixel 8a

Has anyone successfully transfered their Tracfone service from an existing phone to a new Pixel 8a. My online attempt kept telling me they only do eSIMs for late model iPhones; but I was using an new physical SIM card, which the phone recognized to be in place. Chatted with a service rep, who said, on the basis of the IMEI, that the phone is simply not compatible. Suggested I try again in two months to see if the IMEI has gotten registered. Any ideas?

2024.05.18 18:14 Certain-Dragonfly-22 Husband Unemployed & Cheating; Teen Son With Severe Depression and Anxiety

I've long suspected my husband to be cheating. He cheated prior to marriage when our son was a baby. After many years we made it through his infidelity and are now married. I've been loyal to him since I was 25 yrs old. I'm now 45. He is 54 and has been unemployed for over a year, while I work like crazy to provide a more than comfortable life for him and our son.
Our son has been struggling with anxiety and deep depression for years. Even a period of having suicidal thoughts. My main goal is helping him to achieve happiness again.
My husband has long been checked out of this family. He basically lives in his man cave. Months ago I found a old cell phone loaded with hard-core porn. He basically told me it's his way of not cheating. But lately his vibes have been off and I've caught him lying.
Yesterday I got in my car to leave for work and something told me to look in his car (I do not typically snoop). I sat in his car and reached in the back pocket of the passenger seat and found a phone. It is a tracfone releases in the last year fully charged with a passcode on it.
I'm seeking advice from anyone who has dealt with ending a marriage while protecting the emotions of a struggling teenager. This will shatter his world. We have no family in our state so we are his life. My heart breaks for him and that my husband was willing to risk this happening. It's so unfair, but I just want my husband gone at this point.

2024.05.18 17:48 Affectionate_Head322 Just Renewed Service but now can only dial 911. Help pls!

So like five days ago my service ran out, I waited like two days and then paid for the renewal. However, now my iPhone only says SOS at the top and I cannot call/text/use data, or even msg 611611. I’m using WiFi to do everything. I called tracfone and they told me to call back from a different phone which doesn’t help much.
They also started out recommending I dial *73…which only cancels call forwarding. I’ve restarted my phone, taken sim out and put back in, etc. My account says I have service until the end of June.
Any recommendations?

2024.05.18 10:46 brasscup If you are on SafeLink since Verizon took over did your Hotspot stop working?

I got fed up with the upgrade nags & threats so I bought a Verizon branded SafeLink TracFone as requested and now none of my other devices can connect to my SafeLink hotspot.
Before now, I was using a SafeLink AT&T sim and I had unlimited hotspot data (although I did have to futz around and slightly change the APN, which I am not sure is doable on the TracFone branded Moto G Power 2023).
Anyhow, if anybody gets their hotspot to work with the SafeLink Verizon sim, please share how you did it. Thank you!

2024.05.18 00:35 Emotional_Pirate2948 Unable to Use Data

I recently got a TracFone and for the first day or two, it was working fine. Today I noticed that when I tried to access the internet without being connected to Wi-Fi, I couldn't and would get messages like, "Check your connection and try again." The strange thing is that the internet logo at the top of the screen shows that I have a signal. I also checked to make sure I still have data on my account and I do, so that isn't the problem. I have already removed and replaced the SIM, ran a system update, and restarted the phone. Any tips?

2024.05.17 19:18 nononap Student looking for a cheap flip phone (unlocked) with no browser

Hello all! I am a student in USA looking to move to a flip phone. Using an iPhone now and I deleted/disabled all apps aside from iMessage and Phone (calls). I am looking to make the move to a flip phone (I want specifically a flip phone, no candybar) that comes unlocked so I do not have to change from my AT&T service. I would also like the phone to have absolutely no browser. If it has maps, music, camera, etc, I don't really mind because I won't end up using them I just don't want any sort of browser. I am a music student with a very low budget so ideally something <50$. Does a phone like this exist? From my research, the only ones I have found that satisfy my need are the TracFone phones which are locked to TracFone service. Is that the way to go?
Thanks for any sort of response, I have spent way too much time online the past couple days trying to find a phone to fit my needs. Cheers!
Edit: I tried searching dumbphonefinder with no luck. the only two results were too expensive for my budget.
i love everything about the AGM M8 but im not crazy about the look. something more sleek would be nice also maybe not $100 😬.

2024.05.17 19:15 jewelsnake How can i upgrade my free paramount+ subscription to include showtime?

Im a walmart employee. At work I signed up for my free walmart+ membership, and then on the walmart app I activated my free paramount+ subscription. All I want to do is watch Dexter, but apparently I have to have the Showtime add-on with my paramount+ account to watch that. When I go to the walmart app and try to upgrade my paramount subscription to include showtime, it says “upgrade ineligible” and “If you have your Walmart+ membership through Verizon myPlan, Tracfone, or One Pass™, we are working to make those plans eligible to upgrade to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan soon”
I signed up for the w+ membership on one of the computers at work so I dont know how verizon myplan or tracfone or one pass is related. Has anyone gotten around this?

Now if I want to transfer my wife's TF flip phone to my old 6a, can I use the sim card in the 6a and do the same transfer through text? Or does TF need to send me another kit?

I have been going to Canada from the US for a while and haven't been able to get or send messages while my phone is up there.
Wondering if this could be remedied by leaving my phone on and in the US and linking to a Google Message account. Would the phone (if plugged in) be able to receive and send text messages through Google Message while I am up in Canada?

2024.05.16 09:20 BRO9375 Google Play Games screen recorder keeps crashing

Does anyone else's Google Play Games screen recorder keep crashing after a minute or so of recording?
It might just be my phone that can't handle the processing load.
Here's my phone's specs:
Band: TracFone
Model: B131DL
RAM: 3GB
Storage: 32GB
Display: 5.5” (720x1440)
CPU: 2.0GHz Quad-Core
It doesn't really matter which games I play either, it's even happened with solitaire.
So, if anyone else is having this problem, or knows why it's happening to me, I'd appreciate your input.

2024.05.15 23:56 jjmawaken Is Anyone Else Having Network Issues?

I've been a long time Tracfone user and normally have no problems with service. I purchased a new phone through Tracfone's website and had gotten my number switched over from my old phone. Had been successfully using it for a couple weeks now. All of the sudden 4- 5 days ago my texts and calls aren't going through. When I dial out it tries to transfer me to Straight Talk. I called tracfone multiple times and they have me try a list of things such as turning phone off then on, airplane mode, *73, APN settings etc. Weirdly enough just gets some texts but not all.
Monday they gave me to Corporate which is still outsourced. They told me there are network problems and it's not my phone. Still can't make calls as of today but otherwise my A14 performs perfectly. Just wanted to see if any other people are in the same boat and it's truly a network thing or they don't know and are screwing with me.
