I’ve only just recently moved out. I love it here, the independence feels amazing, the location is great, etc. I’ve been living here for a little over a month now, not without issues mind you, but nothing crazy or anything.
However, like most posts if seen here, the real problems start with my downstairs neighbor. Normally, I wouldn’t care. I’ve put up with a lot of noise when I lived with my parents, but this is a whole different beast.
My downstairs neighbor isn’t doing anything overtly offense. I’m not hearing any domestic violence down there in the middle of the night or anything like that.
He does the classic heavy stomping that I’ve seen complained about a lot on here. He’s beating the crap out of the floorboards like each one owes him money.
Whatever. It’s irritating as all hell and keeps me up at night, but what can you do? What really drives me up the wall is the fact that he seems to only be interested in doing his laundry at about 7am. On Sunday mornings.
I’ve heard my other neighbors do their laundry and it’s fine. It’s loud and obnoxious, but so’s mine. That’s why we all do it in the middle of the day if we can afford to. Except of course bricks-for-boots downstairs.
It’s made worse by the fact that the washedryer is bedroom adjacent in every apartment. While he’s doing his laundry, I’m trying to get some sleep a few feet above it, and it shakes the whole room and lasts for hours.
I think I’m slowly losing it due to the lack of sleep from this guy. Any advise? Should I try and talk to him about it, or just complain to management?

Please forgive my writing as English is not my first language. But i am 15 and was born afab but i have started to socially transition to male (ftm).
But i have always wanted to be a dad in the biological way ig if that makes sense. Ik that transgender men can ofc give birth and props to you of you do but i dont want to do it. Having female parts makes me dysphoric as is and then actually having to use those parts for a thing that is often associated with women makes me want to cry and rip my skin off and just rip those parts out of me myself.
I have no interest in pregnancy or giving birth. I always said that i never wanted to have kids. Then i thought about it and realized that i DO want kids. I just dont want to give birth to them and i dont want to be seen as a mom or do the things that moms do. I dont want to be a soft spoken, nurturing, kissing boo-boos away stereotypical mom. I want to be the strong protector type of parent. And i feel i cant do that as well if i “am” a woman.
Idk. Ive always imagined being able to get someone else pregnant. Taking care of them the entire way through it. Helping them through like cravings and holding their hands when things get hard or painful. Buying them whatever it is that they want (food, clothes, anything really). Etc etc.
Ofc there is nothing wrong with adoption or fostering and i am open to that. I just dont feel that it’s fair that i don’t actually get a say in the matter and that it was just like chosen for me if that makes sense.
And yes ik that many cis men are infertile. But that doesn’t change the fact that i feel i am being unfairly stripped away from something i really want!
If i do get a GF/ wife who wants to have a kid, i am definitely not carrying it. Hysterectomy or getting my tubes tied all the way. I am not saving my egss or anything for sure either. Only other thing i can think of is like sperm donor but it just sucks that i cant be like involved in that way and like have the kid be "biologically" mine. Are there any other alternatives to having kids as a trans guy? I really really really want to be a dad 😭

Hey I'm not certain if this is flaired appropriately as I'm new to the community or even if this is allowed.
Myself and a number of other designers are working on a new Autobattler game similar to Hearthstone Battlegrounds that's looking to explore untapped potential in the genre, and unexplored mechanics like nothing in the genre has really touched before.
Right now I have myself the founder of the group currently going through the process of establishing an LLC to develop the game as. We have a tentative title and are in the process of developing the mechanics and card details with a team of 7 or so designers, one lore and background information designer, a coder in training (and also myself in training), and I do all of the above to the best of the ability as the game was concepted and presented by yours truly.
As you can see, the programming side of the project is a bit weak in terms of where we are on Godot Knowledge, as those of us who are willing and capable of working on the programming side of things are new to the Godot Engine, I was curious about putting out a message here to see if anyone was really into these types of games and was interested in helping develop one with us.
It's worth noting that this is not a spur of the moment or whimsical idea. We've been hard at work on developing this in our spare time for a little longer than a month now. We have a game development discord where we share our ideas and such with each other and this is also where I place all the notes I take from individual calls with people also working on the game. The majority of the teams availability opens up more once the month of June begins, so I was hoping to find someone interested to bring onto the team that could act as the head programmer, and myself and the other programmer would help out where we can and help guide the development of the code and such.
If anyone is interested (and if this is in fact allowed to be posted here) I encourage you to leave a comment or message me privately to discuss additional details about the project to see if you are interested. Our goal is to work towards a prototype initially so we have something presentable for investors or an angel round of investment in the soon to be company.

There is a classmate that has a crush on me. I know that because I had a feeling that he did and it was also confirmed by other classmates. He doesn't know that I know.
I do like him as a person, however I am just not interested in any form of sexual/romantic relationship right now. I just really don't have the time or energy for that at the moment.
That is what I told said classmates, when they asked me what I think about him. They then went ahead and told him that I'm not interested in a relationship.
So as of right now he doesn't know that I know of his crush, but he is aware, that I am not interested.
Now here is where the problem lies:
He is still asking me if I want to spend time with him. The day after he was told I'm not interested he asked me to help him with math. This I can somehow understand, since I'm good at it and we have a test soon. So while I felt a bit weird doing this, being aware of his feelings, I could suck it up by convincing myself he really just needed help. However today he asked me if I wanted to go to a party with him. And I don't mean something like a dance party, where I can atleast drink my malaise away. No, I'm talking about something you would see in a romance movie about aristocrates!
I really don't want to seem mean, but it just feels weird to go out with him. Personally if I had a crush and I knew he wasn't interested I would stay away from him. But the fact that he keeps trying feels like he doesn't respect my boundaries. It's as if he wants to change my mind by having me spend time with him. I just feel like he is trying to force me on a date I would never consent to, by disguising it as nothing more than a hangout.
This is the first time that someone has had a crush on me and I don't know what to do. I feel very disrespected but at the same time I'm wondering if I'm overreacting. This stuff is so confusing and I'm really annoyed that I got pulled into this romance stress even though I never wanted it. I was very happy being a looser who spend their time puzzling and now all of a sudden I'm experiencing teeny life? I really hope he just get's over me soon.

I’m currently a senior in high school, and I’m nervous as hell about majoring in CS. I never had any experience with coding in school and never took CS-related APs either. The only reason why I chose CS is because graduates often have strong job prospects with a CS degree (also the fact that I’ve no clue what I want to major in) and I want to start making money asap after I graduate with a bachelor’s. However, it seems that the market is oversaturated with many graduates unable to land jobs solely with a CS degree. I want to ask if it’s still worth it for me to pursue CS. I heard the major is rigorous and is mostly theoretical and doesn’t involve much coding. I’m not sure if I do well with theories…Should I pursue SE instead? I’m still interested in coding and plan on learning one lang (either python or java) before I move onto campus. Maybe I should give CS a try before switching? But I’m really not sure if I want to pursue a major in a field that’s highly competitive and oversaturated in the job market. However, BU is ranked ten for employability—that makes me feel a little better ig.

2024.05.19 21:51 Character_Run_2718 I just finished my first playthrough of FNV and...

Wow. What a game.
I'd had Fallout: New Vegas in my library for quite a while and had tried playing it a few times but never got past Primm and really couldn't get into it. RPGs have never really been my thing, mainly because I get distracted fast and find it really difficult to get engaged in games with lots of dialogue. I usually just prefer good cut-and-dry gameplay, like roguelikes.
After watching the TV show though, and a lot of high praise about FNV from my girlfriend, I finally decided to force myself to push through and get past the beginning of the game for the first time - then I dumped 100 hours into it in the last two weeks.
After digging deeper and getting a bit further into the story and out into the open world more, though, I finally saw what makes this game so special. The characters are all so rich, and I actually found myself sitting through tons of optional dialogue as I got more invested in the roleplay.
I've read after finishing my playthrough that it was a goal of the developers to instill a sense of moral abiguity in the choices the player needs to made, and I definitely felt that. I ended up siding with the NCR because the Legion was insane and I didn't trust Mr. House one bit, but at the same time it felt kind of wrong when the NCR directed me to basically slaughter all the other factions so they could win. The side missions, as well, never felt like simple fetch quests but always involved branching options, none of them ever explicitly the "right" one - I help the BoS Elder and then one his Paladins asks me to help overthrow him; I go to Vault 22 to retrieve data and the scientist I find there asks me to delete the data instead; I meet the man that tried to kill me and have to decide whether I kill him or have mercy; etc. Even though it was short, Boone's quest was one of my favorites: interrogating all of the Novac settlers only to ultimately find out that who I thought was just the cute old lady Jeannie May sold Boone's wife to slavery was quite the twist.
It was refreshing to play a game that wasn't afraid to let me feel weak, as well. I'm not great at games like this so I played on very easy mode, but the deathclaws still fucked me up when I first tried to go after them. Going back 80 hours later with maxed out skills, power armor, and the guass rifle while on tons of chems and just blasting them straight to hell was so fucking satisfying.
I was also absolutely shocked (in a good way) by the amount of blatant sexual dialogue and the game's enthusiastic readiness to let me be a lesbian - I expected it to just result in some offhand options, but no, it added tons of fleshed out dialogue trees and actually let me find other lesbian characters baked into the game.
Out of the DLCs, Old World Blues was by far my favorite. I don't know what the developers were high on while writing it, but gosh was it hilariously fantastic. The whole plotline of having my brain stolen was genuinely interesting and I never anticipated being able to flirt with not one, but two literal talking lightswitches. Doctor Dala was probably my favorite character in the entire game, and I can't believe the levels of unhinged dialogue she has actually made it into the game.
Most of all, though, was the fact that this game was made in just 18 months. I get that they used the same engine and lots of assets from Fallout 3, but for a game that has instantly made it onto my favorites list, that's hella impressive.
I'm proud to call myself a Fallout fan, now - I'll be playing Fallout 4 next and I'm gonna order an NCR flag to hang in my room because I need that in my life right now.

2024.05.19 21:41 Wade_The_Heathen Coaches Corner with WadeTheHeathen. Building and Working on Completing your Collection Part 2

Hello and greetings once again my fellow CUEnthusiasts!
I’m going to cap off this series with Part 2 of Building your Collection and working towards Completion. This time I’m going to go over some tips and strategies for cards you already have at your disposal in your collection. Again, much of what I cover will pertain to many types of collectors and their goals. I’ll elaborate and differentiate as needed.
Some of what I’ll cover in this post I may have gone over in greater detail in a previous post, so I won’t go much further into it so it’s not redundant. Previous Coaches Corners can be found in this sub, or my post history :)
The first thing I would like to go over, is what you’re working towards (your goals for your collection) and how to approach trading cards in your collection to help achieve these goals.
I would also like to take a second to add and emphasize that having access to or being on a platform like discord or here etc, will be integral for a good amount of what I cover today. It’s the most efficient way to leverage and get the most out of cards you already own for what you’re looking for.
Now there’s many different types of collectors in the game. I’m going to narrow this down and focus on a couple of key ones in regard to today’s topic. Again, some of what I’ll go over will be applicable to a wider range of collectors, so it may be worth a read regardless.
A completionist is someone who is typically trying to get at least 1 of every card. They tend not to trade their singles. I’m a completionist first and foremost so I lock(protect) every card I only have 1 of. To me, there would be nothing worse than trading a card I already had, and need to chase it again. Especially if the card is scarce. The main goal for a completionist should always be to fill holes in your collection, not create one to fill one, regardless of the offer.
Someone who’s just working on decks to play tend to trade singles and look mainly for cards to play. The benefit here is they have singles at their disposal to leverage for cards they’re after. Collecting cards they need is usually secondary, or not applicable at all except for ones they want to use/play.
Now, how do we use what we already have to get the cards we’re looking for outside of the obvious posting in game?
And this is where it’s paramount to leverage a platform. Because there’s certain traders/collectors that you’ll be looking to deal with, as it can be of great benefit to your end goal. And, as I’ve discussed before and this is where it’ll be most applicable. This is where you’ll work out a trade before a card is ever sent. It’s the most streamlined way to trade if you know values and how to navigate trades. (Hopefully my past posts will have helped a bit with this).
What you stand to gain out of being on a platform is the ability to see clearly, offers and what people are wanting and have to offer. Watch for offers and collectors/traders that can help you work towards your goals while trading with them for mutually beneficial trades. And I’ll detail a couple to keep an eye out for.
The Heavy Traders and Veterans: These folks spend a lot of time moving cards and trading. They tend to have larger, and most of the time, complete collections and many duplicates. They’re usually very easy to deal with if you have some knowledge of card values(because trust me, they do). They also post offers on their platform of choice detailing exactly what they offer and what they’re wanting. Pretty straight forward if you’re looking to do a trade that aligns with them too. I will add, some also will pull extras of new cards or packs in general to add to their catalogue of tradable cards, so again, it’s good to check in from time to time. Again, they are usually very easy to deal with as long as values are spot on, especially when taking them up on an offer or making one yourself. And once more, to drive it home lol. It’s very important to learn the value system as best as you can on your platform of choice.
One Card Collectors/Hoarders:
Quick Disclaimer: I’m doing my best to write this without bias as I am a one card collector. However I was, and still am, a completionist first. Even before I started hoarding on this app. And the reality is, these folks are some of the easiest people to deal with on any card app. Most of my dealings, as I’ve mentioned before, have been with them, just because of the ease in obtaining cards you want if they have.
It’s worth while to find out exactly what they offer and trade them the cards they collect, because they will typically trade exactly what they say they will, and it makes obtaining cards you need very easy. The catch is, and this isn’t always the case as I’ve mentioned before when I went into detail about one card collectors/hoarders, you’re going to want to trade them the cards they collect for best results. Same as heavy traders, but these folks usually make solid offers for their cards, and when you’re sticking to what they offer in their post, it’s most likely to result in an accepted trade.
Some will even pull so they can trade for their cards too. I, and many others who have experience with hoarders, spent time tracking down their cards to fill our own card needs and wants. They also tend to pay well for quantities of their cards for a quality card, and this is the only time I feel quantity for quality applies lol. This is a good opportunity to use low value dupes that may not move to get good cards you need.
Typically they don’t trade singles, but there are some who do, as they only play to collect numbers of their cards, but what cards they do offer for their collect cards are usually some of the easiest to obtain.
There many types of players of all levels on a platform, and trades are relatively easy to work out. Other than the couple of collectors I’ve mentioned to keep an eye out for, here’s some other benefits and things to watch out for on the platform of your choice that you can leverage to work towards your goals.
There will always be players trading dupes for needs, working together towards their collection goals. These are usually straight forward, especially if values are known by both players or a value system is leveraged to balance values. Typically the cards traded are what I call filler cards, ones that don’t have demand or playability but are wanted just to round out your collection. It’s usually straight forward 1:1 card for card, matching both rarity and type. Pretty basic stuff but on a platform, can be highly efficient filling out your collection as you can typically put through multi card trades.
Many players chasing completion or filling needs tend to want to knock off the high value ones asap, because this is also a tcg, and they may want to use them to play right away. When they have most or all the higher value stuff and they end up with dupes of them, they’ll sometimes post to break down a value card for quantity of equal value cards they need. This can be paramount to how you get good/value cards for a very reasonable price. Again watch for it to be offered and don’t just send lol.
While a bit less prevalent on this app, there are a few people who run some kind of swap shop(all they do is trade cards, usually of same rarity and type for the same in return). They usually have their own system in place and some don’t use any values for cards other than rarity and type and I’ll provide a couple of examples I’ve seen and done myself (I formally ran swap shops on most card apps I’ve been on). Some will and do trade singles, again, it helps to read and understand their post prior to sending a trade. Adhering to what they post can make obtaining cards from them extremely easy.
Some may offer to give 1 of any card for 2 cards of the same rarity/type as the one you took in return. Some will trade a card of same rarity/type they have over a set amount of dupes of for ones they need or have under a set number of dupes of a card. There’s a few different ones and they’re typically good to leverage for a hassle free trade as they tend to adhere to what they post.
The importance of a platform, even though the player base on them is small compared to the overall population on the app, is the fact that most veteran players and heavy traders/collectors tend to be on them. The ability to work out trades and obtain the cards you want is far more effective than just posting in game. And again, the capability to work out a trade without ever sending a card first is amazing. And the ability to do so with cards you already own is the most economical way to build and/or fill out your collection.
I’m going to wrap up with a few tips for those focused on completing their collection.
I want to stress this point again, as I feel it’s important for a completionist. I did this on any app I tried to complete. Do not trade your singles. While offers may seem, and can be very generous, unless you know you can replace a single with ease, the risk of it being very tough to find again, I’ve found, isn’t worth it. I’ve experienced myself and seen many times a single was traded and the regret afterwards in doing so, not to mention the time investment that may be needed to get it back. And logically speaking, you’ve already found the card once and have it, why would you want to chase it again just to not chase a card being offered? It’s not really progressing towards your goal of completion, it’s just keeping your cards collected at the same number when your goal is to increase that number until you have everything.
What to target to complete first?
This is completely up to you. What I will offer is some brief insight into each limited rarity, mythics and all basics/fusions, I’ll work my way from lowest rarity to highest.
Fusion/Basics: These are so abundant, have no value and are always available. Dupes for needs, rarity for rarity, type for type these are some of the most basic and straight forward trades possible as basics/fusions have no value. The only exception is maybe a new one, but even then, its value is just because it’s new and typically won’t fetch anything of value.
One point I’d like to make and it’s most people’s preference, trade type for same type, so fusion for other fusion, basic for other basic. It’s only because fusion will be used to obviously make a red or ultra fusion. Again it’s more preference. Also consider, as new red fusions are released, some basics become fusion cards to make a new red. So no real damage can be done if you don’t care too much.
In my opinion, basics and fusions (legendary rarity and below) shouldn’t be a focus. Not many are playable, you’ll always get them from almost every pack, and they’re very easy to obtain and complete. I’d say if you’re down to a few left you may as well wrap it up, but you’ll naturally fill out most of them as time goes.
From time to time it can be normal for someone to offer a limited you need for basic/fusion cards. This is ok. I would caution not to send basics/fusion to someone for a limited card unless it was discussed pre trade. There’s an in game decline response that relates to this for a reason xD
Limited Common and Rare- I lumped these 2 together because they’re both relatively similar at least from a completion standpoint. As I’ve said before, these 2 rarities are relatively easy to complete, there’s maybe a handful of meta/playable cards amongst them but they don’t hold a high value. These are usually good to start the journey with as completing them allows the opportunity to use dupes of these rarities to trade to keep them complete and/or to roll up for higher rarity needs sometimes.
Limited Epic and Legendary: These are 2 of the hardest to complete. The reason again being, the majority of value/meta/playable/scarce cards are of these rarities. These would be my last focus simply because with time your collection will grow and that will help to make completing them easier.
My advice when trading your dupes of high value is to get a like value card you need for it. Breaking them down and diluting their value into lesser value needs can actually make the higher needs harder to get if most of your dupes are lower in value. Nothing wrong with it, but just my take. I mention this because as you near completion, you don’t want to be stuck only needing high value cards and having mainly low value dupes for trade for them. It’ll take a while to find someone wanting a breakdown, especially if what you need is scarce. This just helps ensure you have and get value cards knocked off your need list as you go. And always keep an eye out for someone wanting to break down a high value card too. The more value dupes you can retain for high value cards you need is in your best interest to complete efficiently.
Mythics- Again a harder one to complete but not usually as hard as epic and legendary. The majority of Mythics have been around for a long while, mainly the newer ones are harder to get. Now the reason I consider these a bit easier than epic/legendary is because mythics are always being traded. And lots of people on platforms are wanting to break down higher value ones into multiple lower value ones.
Mythics are obtained with time just pulling so I wouldn’t focus too much on them early, as you close out low rarity needs and start getting dupe mythics or rolling up limited cards into Mythics, they’re relatively easy to transact with and fill out. Newer ones are the slight exception as they may be scarce, but again, with time will be more available and as well tend to get cheaper.
Again, preference plays a part and many people just trade Mythics for other Mythics, and I’d urge you to do the same with your mythic dupes until they’re complete or just missing a couple of new ones. Once they’re done or close to it, you can use your dupe mythics to pick off the higher value limited cards you need.
One last completionist note I’d like to make as it relates to mythics.
Mythics cannot be target pulled, meaning, unlike new limiteds/basics, mythics are random and don’t have a fixed pull rate. When you do get one, it’s could be any 1 that’s currently available. They are the main chase when people are trying to stay complete for this reason.
Typically, as I mentioned in another post, it’s not uncommon to see an Anubis, or multiple high value stable Mythics be traded for a new mythic in the early days after its release. If you’re wanting to be complete again asap, you’re going want to manage your Mythic dupes in preparation for a new one. You’ll want to look into rolling up lesser value Mythic dupes into a high value stable one a few times if not more, just so you have a competitive offer early on. If it’s no big deal and you can wait, over time, more copies of a new mythic become available and the price tends to drop until it’s stable.
This, I hope, in combination with what I went over in Part 1, will help you expedite getting the cards you’re wanting/looking for and hit your goals!

So to preface, I live in Hawaii with no intention to move to DC.
That said, I am working out making my own cost of living charts based on popular areas of the US, such as DC, Colorado(Denver), Washington(Seattle), Nevada(Vegas), Texas(Austin). I am interested in your personal opinion of your bill breakdown and how 'livable' it really is. I seen a post from 7 months ago that everybody said $47k is livable with roommates, I did a QUICK job search and found a car rental place hiring for $35/hr. Now granted the environment in the company seemed to suck but for that pay, you can move on quickly to better and greener pastures.
What I am searching for is, family size, average monthly utilities, car payment, insurance, food cost, rent or mortgage(specify) phone bill and of course income(exclude bonus). The ABSOLUTE BASICS, this doesn't mean your daily Starbucks, or McDonalds coffee, that cute $9 drink or $12 avocado toast.
After literally 5 minutes of google averages for DC, this was the breakdown I got for a bare minimum single person living on $35/hr Which is entry level with no experience.
$35*160=$5,600-20%= After taxes(approximately) $4,480 Budget = $4,480
Studio Rent - $1,800 Food - $450 Phone - $120 Car Payment - $300 Insurance - $120 Utilities - $350 Gas - $200
Total = $3,340 Balance = $1,140
Please keep in mind, this is bare minimum for a single person so these are either very high(food), or very low(car).
Now I did not cover healthcare for the simple fact that, majority of Americans do not have healthcare that is not provided by work or any at all(Myself) And healthcare is very VERY much individual based. That being said, lowest average I found in 1 google search is about $500 which would still leave $640 balance for whatever savings is possible.
Please let me know your situation based on these guides. Again this is all based on large companies doing their own 'research' into it, not what the actual day to day person is living so I would love more accurate information.

Hi everyone! I posted a comment about it right after season 3 dropped, and I have seen a bit of interest in the Northwest Passage on here recently. I thought that for those of you who didn’t learn about it extensively in school in the small corner of Canada that I did, I’d put together a little informative post on the extremely brief (and perhaps even inconsequential!) reference to the Northwest Passage in Episode 4. I’ll provide an overview of the Passage and its history, touch on some characteristics of travel to this region, and conclude with some completely speculative comments on the literary purpose of evoking the passage in this scene in Season 4.
Also, full credit to the other NWP enthusiasts who have been making posts about this and discussing it in other threads.
A quick note on the colonial nature of this post: Throughout this short post, I refer to several colonial expeditions to the land many of us call Canada. Although I attempt to be cognizant of my language, it is important to note that the Inuit people who live in the arctic regions that I reference have navigated the sea ice for thousands of years (Panikkar et al., 2018) and that the written history of this region are often hegemonic and euro-centric narratives that were formed within colonial frameworks.

Exploring the Northwest Passage- a bit of context
In August of 1820, Lieutenant Edward Parry, a member of the British Royal Navy observed the dense ice and snow of arctic land and sea that was thought to be the location of the mysterious Northwest Passage. From a simple look, he knew that no ship in existence would be able to pass through ice sheets of such a great thickness and that extended for such a long distance (Brandt, 2011). Despite his pessimism, by Parry’s time, British sailors and explorers had been explicitly seeking the passage for hundreds of years (Williams & Costley, 2010; Day, 2006, p. xxiv), dreaming of exploiting the desirable economic prospect of a Western route from Europe to burgeoning Asian markets.
First encounters: When European sailors first encountered North America, it was in pursuit of a route west to Asia. They were, of course, incorrect about the location of Asia. And although a great deal of interest shifted to mapping the new continent, there was also an acknowledgement that there would be great economic benefits to finding a way around this newly encountered landmass (Day, 2006). Over time, the reasons and methods of locating the Northwest Passage changed and evolved, but interest never truly went away.
Renewed British interest: Notably, at the end of the 15th century, when the Ottoman Turk’s empire extended into the Mediterranean and eastward, European merchants were no longer allowed to move and trade freely (Day, 2006). Seeking new routes for the Pacific, European (and especially British) explorers turned West. The Northwest Passage was a concept, a theoretical possibility, for European explorers. It was seen as a potential commercial sea route to the trading markets that were already established and burgeoning in Asia. The Passage was a route with phenomenal economic potential, especially as European consumers sought spices, materials, salts, and woods from foreign markets (Williams & Costley, 2010).
Based on their knowledge of the Southern Hemisphere and the potential geography of the world, many believed that a similar passage would be reflected in the earth’s northern pole (Day, 2006). As a result, there was a massive potential for financial gain for colonial governments and individuals, should such a passage ever be found.
Public fascination: The passage became a point of national fascination for many members of the public. In pursuit of this fascination, many enthusiastic researchers “persuaded persons of influence and wealth to send out discovery expeditions” (Williams & Costley, 2010, p. xv). With governments in Europe stabilizing, the emergence of an economy of cheap labour (lower class men who were willing to take on the dangerous work at sea), and the rapid development of ship technology, the 1600s was a prime time to set out on expeditions.
The fascination with the Passage continued for 300 years until a passage was finally navigated by sea in full in the 1900s. Over the course of history, Anthony Brandt describes the fascination with the Passage’s discovery as a tragedy (2011). He writes: “hubris, an all-too-human arrogance and pride that triggered a particular calamity” (p. 5) as being the tragedy of the exploration for the Passage. Despite the fascination of the public with it, the ice “remained intractable, impenetrable, and, for those who challenged it, a kind of fate” (p. 5) George Malcom Thomson reported that the Passage did not exist where popular imagination speculated it must be (Day, 2006). He noted: “the whole enterprise was founded on a misapprehension, a geographical fiction, a fairy-tale … and downright inventions that scholar manufacture to amaze themselves” (p. xxv).
The danger of the passage: Voyages to and in search of the passage were fraught. Many never returned, and those who did survive faced immense physical and mental challenges. There were, of course, significant difficulties with massive ice drifts and shelves. However, the relative location of the expeditions to the north pole led to issues with magnetic variation for compasses. Fog further complicated travel (Williams & Costley, 2010).
There were also extreme mental dangers to pursuing the NWP. MooSmith’s expedition in the mid-1700s reported “potentially murderous quarrels between officers” (Williams & Costley, 2010, p. xvi); John Franklin noted that the things that occurred on his ship “must not be known” (p. xvi); and it was noted that on the McClure, Beckler, and Collinson expeditions, “tensions” erupted “as captains and subordinate officers exchanged threats of court martial, and some officers spend years under close arrest on their ships” (p. xvi).
In the time of Bridgerton: The end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 allowed for greater expeditions by the British Royal Navy (Day, 2006). This would have included surveys of a large portion of the global north and the Arctic. There were a large number of “successful” (depending on how you define it) land expeditions that had made progress in producing surveys and maps of the region. Despite significant ongoing interest in discovering the Passage, in particular, little progress had been made. Later still, despite more advanced mapping by the Hudson Bay Company and expeditions by many notable sailors, there was still no route by the 1820s (Day, 2006).
What does it signify? If a character in Bridgerton was voyaging to the Arctic, it could take them less than a year to reach areas of the Hudson Bay that would be suitable for a scientific voyage. That in itself is not overly dangerous. However, the reference to the Northwest Passage is an interesting literary point. Of all of the places to voyage in the Arctic, even at the time, it would have been an immensely dangerous trip to set out on. The persistent lack of success for a solid 30 years after this season takes place may reference the fact that this is a voyage that Debling is unlikely to ever return from.
It doesn’t help that Debling’s odds are really stacked against him. He does not eat meat, one of the only renewable sources of food for arctic expeditions. There is little to no fresh naturally occurring produce (during the Coppermine expedition, the surviving crew members famously ate lichen to survive once they lost the favour of local indigenous groups and fur traders) and did not do well.
Certainly, it lends a very tragic potential element to the story. The Arctic, if mentioned alone, is not necessarily an overly dangerous location to travel to. Yes, marine travel in the 1800s was still a dangerous endeavour in its own right, let alone in an area as unnavigable by sea as the Arctic. However, the North, in many regions, had active whaling expeditions, Indigenous populations that were willing to trade and work with sailors, and (in some areas) active fur trades. If the purpose of Debling’s travel was only to highlight his unique interests and sense of purpose, the show had many methods of doing so. The choice to reference a notorious and dangerous Northwest Passage, there is an extremely interesting element of danger that is introduced.
What would this potential marriage mean for Penelope? Of course, Penelope’s name is a reference to the wife of Odysseus, who unwillingly takes ten years to return home after the Trojan war. In contrast to Colin, who returns with a steadfast conviction, Debling may represent a kind of eternal limbo for Penelope, should she marry him. Although Debling’s trip is set to take 3 years, it would be hard to prove his death. Likely, she would be a widow for years, if not her entire life, before they were able to locate his ship. The HMS Terror was famously lost in 1845 and not located until 2016(!). As a result, Penelope would likely be stuck at home, awaiting his return, in the same tragic fashion of her namesake in Greek mythology.
As such, not only is there a potential tragic reference to Debling’s future, but there is also a dark illusion to what Penelope’s life may look like as his wife. Of course, this is all based entirely on implication, but it is an interesting act of speculative foreshadowing.

2024.05.19 21:33 freeworktime GME selling some shares while everyone continues to buy and hold is an extension of the infinity pool theory and is, mathematically, the optimal move the company and shareholders can make according to the stag hunt and game theory.

We can all agree, in hindsight, one of the best moves GME/RC made was selling some shares back in 2021 and raising 1.8 Billion. This has been VITAL in giving the board a year or two to stop the losses and try new projects. We're now pretty much breaking even and the next step is profitability.
Remember the whole point of naked short cellar boxing, the thing that, in conjunction with private equity snake insiders planted on the board from Apollo and BCG to bankrupt the company from within...The entire point hinges on the fact that the company cannot sell shares to raise money because the stock's price is in the cellar (boxed in a $.0001 range for OTC/Blue/Pink/Sheets, who knows what it is for NYSE?)...
Now imagine if GME had not raised that 1.8 Billion, Ryan and the board had not taken over and kicked out the snakes and GME continued to sustain heavy losses...The shorts bet would have made them Billions, taking all of retails money (as movie stock will soon find out...and as BeeBeeBee Why has found out)
Raising money gives the stock a fundamental bottom, protecting the company and its shareholders.
Just as in 2021, I expect RC to sell into the volatility/gamma squeezes such as the one that just occurred recently. The current cash on hand allows us to be patient and there is no rush to sell these shares any time soon unless the price spikes (hence the filing stating they can sell ANYTIME during 3 years) Selling 45M shares at 60 to a market maker who is buying shares to hedge all the naked calls they sold is poetic justice. GME/RC raises almost 3 Billion from Citadel directly. The fundamental price, based on just cash alone, then brings our value to around 20 a share, just as the past 3 years they've walked it down to 10 because we had only 1 Billion cash, now they will not be able to cellar walk it any lower than 20 because we would have 4 Billion cash. That instantly puts every short under 20 in the red. At that point, the squeeze has officially begun.
A 20 price gives us about 6 Billion market cap, so then it's up to RC and the board to turn profitable, some small shorts closing...etc and that pushes us to 30-40 fundamentally. This is S&P 500 eligibility. This means the whole world starts buying, and then you'll see the same as happened to Tesla. RC the world's richest man in a few years?
So if you're unsure, just think of it the same as what happened in 2021, and look at the world of good that offering did us and how it allowed us to survive and thrive these past 3 years. That offering was mainly sold to retail, however, based on the gamma squeeze, this offering would most likely be sold to whoever is getting gamma squeezed (Citadel).
Two final points.
RC is GME's largest shareholder, who works for free and buys stock with his own money. He is not going to screw himself over. He has the most to lose, and the most to gain.
This in no way bails any shorts out, quite the opposite...it almost certainly seals their fate. Imagine a GME with 4 Billion war chest. The potential is limitless.
The reason it doesn't bail any shorts out is because of the number of shares and the short interest. If GME is shorted 100%, that's 300M shares shorts need to buy.
200% = 600M needed to buy
300% = 900M needed to buy.
And so on.
45M is a drop in the bucket, it doesn't kill a squeeze...unlike the dilution done by another movie stock.
TLDR:
In the short term, it's a small blow, but in the long term, it guarantees MOASS.
GME profitable. GME holding company. GME to S&P 500. GME dividends (not buybacks)

Hello there divers!

It is well know to everyone that Helldiving the automatons is no easy task, which is why it is with utmost importance that your group is well equiped to deal with those pesky Hulks and Factory Striders.
This tier list serves the purpose to aid the choice of your trusty support statagems on this endeavoring task that is taking down Cyberstan again.
To preface, my opinion may not equal the absolute truth for everyone, but I hope that by providing well rounded thoughts I will be able to at the very least spark some discussions that the whole community can be benefitted by.

Topic 1 - Backpacks

While some may find it weird to not straight up jump to weapons, I find it of utmost importancy that Backpacks are explained first, as some of them viabilize many of the weapons present on the higher tiers of this tier list.
  • (S) Shield Backpack - If you consistently play Automaton Helldives, this shouldn't shock you at all. More than a rechargable permanent extra health, this backpack will absorb the impact of many ragdolling effects that would make the usage of any Support weapon difficult. The amount of value you get from this is simply insane and should always be on your loadout if your Support Weapon of choice doesn't require a backpack of their own.
  • (A) Supply Backpack - While it doesn't really give you any protections whatsoever, it serves a vital purpose of providing Ammo, Health Injections and Grenades on demand. Call in a Supply Drop and the guy with this Backpack can effectively duplicate each supply pack, being able to basically top up everyone on the team on cooldown. Without this, many ammo hungry primary/support weapons will feel lacking and this backpack solves that on it's own.
  • (Viable) Ballistic Shield Backpack - I get it, you want to frontline, and I deeply respect that, a Helldiver that can withstand Heavy Devastators and Factory Striders miniguns is a very valuable asset to the team. But the sad thing is that Rocket Devastators exist and they WILL fuck you up. The ballistic shield would really benefit by getting some blast resistance, like sure, you still get staggered, but the shield protecting you from any ragdoll effects seems reasonable and a nice direction to go buffing this Backpack.
  • (Borderline Trolling) Rovers - They get the chaff under control pretty well, but the amount of times this will unnecessarily aggro patrols is insane. The worst part is, it will pick fights with stuff it really can't take care of, like Hulks, Factory Striders and Tanks - stuff that is VERY common on a difficulty like Helldive.
  • (Borderline Trolling) Jump Pack - Amazing extra mobility, feels very good to use, can reach some very interesting High grounds and do some flashy movements on the battlefield. But that's basically it, even if you get the positioning of your dreams, Automatons have a very sus good accuracy and are able to hit you basically everywhere. And when you're deep into shit, the long cooldown won't help you a bit. This actually is pretty good on a Hit'n'Run playstyle, so it is not fully trolling going into it, just be mindful what the your purpose is with this on your loadout.

Topic 2 - Support Weapons

The part everyone is actually waiting for, the stars of the show, the pinacle of Helldivers gameplay, the bread and butter of all Divers. A diver without a support weapon is a sad one, and having it make them feel powerful is supposed to be their whole job.
  • (S) Auto Cannon - First and foremost, AH - It is Not op, It is Not op, It is Not op, It is Not op. This weapon is something else, it will deal with anything you throw at it quickly and flawlessly, has a very generous mag size and a very balanced reload time/animation. There just isn't a single thing to hate about it and even when I see that there is two of my divers with the same support weapon, if that weapon is the Auto Cannon - I'm actually overjoyed by it. Also, teaming up with it is badass and peak gameplay.
  • (S) Anti-Material Rifle - A good well-rounded weapon that has most of the same damage breakpoints as the Auto Cannon but on a sick-ass Sniper Rifle. It feels harder to take down gunships than the AC so it gets some demerits here, but It can do it just fine with good cover and a steady aim. Being able to reload it while running is also a very positive upside, so using this makes you feel alot more mobile in comparation to an AC user. It also does not come with a mandatory backpack, so it feels amazing to pair it with a Shield or Supply Backpack.
  • (S) Laser Cannon - Also a very well-rounded weapon. Instead of a bullet shooting weapon, this will materialize a no-damage dropoff laser beam that packs a HUGE punch if it comes in contact of any enemies weak points. But it suffers alot to any stagger or ragdoll effects, making it feel almost useless in the middle of some intense action. If that's you, give this a try with the Shield Backpack, you'll be surprised how much extra time you get for beaming up those weak spots and make you feel like a bot-killing menace. This might very well be the best gunship deleter in the game, so if that's also your thing, you should really give this support weapon a try.
  • (S) Expendable Anti-Tank - A low-cooldown 2 charges of Anti-Tank Missiles that'll take care of anything you desire. This is a god's gift when stuff gets tuff and you really gotta deal with 1 specific sonavabitch. Feels good to use and basically has no reload time (since you use one and then just grab the next one), but would really benefit from 1-shotting anything instead of 2-shotting stuff, a problem in general for many AT weapons.
  • (A) Heavy Machine Gun - I feel y'all confusion on this, as this weapon has some CLEAR weaknesses, but I would like to bring attention to many of it's awesome advantages after them. Reload time is too high - getting stuck on the same place for 7 seconds is fun to no one, the mag size is very restrictive so wise use and good aim are a must for this weapon, and the sights on this weapon are CLEARLY misaligned and make hitting distant shots VERY HARD. Now with that out the way let's talk why this weapon slaps: DPS on the maximum (950) RPM that is rivaled by no other weapon in the game, able to SHRED a Factory Strider's Belly in a couple of seconds, able to delete anything that dares expose their weakpoints near your position, can somewhat-realiably take care of hulks coming on a straight line toward you by hitting it's eye, and gets the job done against any structure or gunship with a decently good aim. Definitely not an S-tier weapon, but a good weapon to diversify your team's loadout.
  • (Viable) Anti-Tank Weapons [Recoiless/QuasaSpear] - They feel great to use, they are the heaviest hitters on the game. But even then, they can't reliably take down the stuff that they're supposed to be good at on 1-hit. It feels bad to hit a Hulk in the face with a Recoiless/Quasar and watch it still march toward you while you either gotta stop to reload or wait 15(!) seconds so that your Quasar's Windows 95 restarts up. The Spear can lock on and sometimes 1-hit them if you're far enough, but the finnicky lock on and restrictive backpack size just makes it feel lacking all-around. These weapons should really reliably 1-hit anything below a Factory Strider to be worthy to include more than one on the team.
  • (Borderline Trolling) Railgun - Look how they massacred my boy. Once a very versatile weapon, it is now delegated to a finnicky job of 1-shotting Hulks on the head if your aim is good enough, something that is not helped by the fact that the ADS on this weapon is horrible - the middle red dot basically makes it harder to hit those weak spots. It also basically has negative structure damage and straight up can't take down Gunships, Factory Striders and Tanks. You just feel very powerless with this gun, and hitting 90%+ shots just doesn't feel rewarding at all. If 90%+ shots 1-shot Factory Striders miniguns, Gunship engines and 2 shot Hulks/Tanks/Structures on their respective weakspots this weapon would rapidly jump to S tier and be my new main.
  • (Borderline Trolling) Grenade Launcher - Very good chaff + Devastator + Structure cleaner, with a decent enough damage to heatsinks to help with the big stuff. With that being said, it is hard to find angles to hit those weakspots and you are essentialy powerless the moment a Hulk decides you're their new bitch. Don't even try getting Gunships and Factory Striders as those are extremely tough an nigh impossible to hit. If you do your job well, you'll make the life of your team easier by dealing with those pesky Rocket/Heavy Devastators, so you're still relevant to the team, but really everyone would rather have an AC user instead of you.
  • (Borderline Trolling) Arc Thrower - Look how they massacred my boy. AH at it once again. It was exceptional with 50 meters range, with some clear weaknesses of not being able to do shit against Gunships, Tanks and Factory Striders, to being finnicky at 35 meters and needing to expose yourself to danger, to being straight up useless right now when Hulks aren't staggered by it anymore. It has good DPS and can stagger multiple Devastators/Berserkers at the same time, providing the team with a valuable breathing room, but it is just too hard to justify this given the amount of clear drawbacks that this now has. AH, please revert the 50meter range and Hulk's staggering power to it.
  • (Don't) Light/Medium Machine Guns/FlamethroweAirbust/Mech - Just... don't.

Conclusion

Automaton Helldive difficulty has many viable loadouts and weapons that feel great to use, but at the same time has many that just doesn't. Once again, I just wish every weapon to feel as great as the AC is to use, the understandably GOAT of support weapons that we have in the game right now. I've been dating with this girl for almost 3 months. At the same time I've been on a job hunt.
During these months, we went out for dinner around 3 times and I also cooked for her a couple times. She seemed to be into me and very affectionate at first.
Early on she mentioned that wants a relationship, after I told her that I am on a job hunt and also want to get to know her better , she then insisted that can "wait for me" due to my current situation.
Fast forward, everything was going smooth and she showed a lot of attention to me seemingly unbothered by the situation.
Last week and out of nowhere, she started acting distant so I asked her to meet.
In person, she told me that she wants to end things, and the reason was that she stopped having patience on my job situation anymore, and that she slowly stopped liking me and realized she wants to spend more time with her friends, (even though she was love bombing me constantly in the past few days), only to add the fact that "I can't buy things for her (gifts/clothes/exp restaurants) and go shopping with her therefore she has to do it with her friends".
I was shocked to hear this and confronted her saying that a relationship is about building trust and creating a bond and definitely not looking for a sponsor to buy you stuff.
her reply was "I am a selfish person, that's me."
I told her that I'm done with this, she left without saying anything and blocked me instantly from everywhere.
Thoughts? I believe it is not normal for a woman to have these demands, especially so early on, I also find strange that she went from being very interest to this in just a few days.

Hi everyone! I posted a comment about it right after season 3 dropped, and I have seen a bit of interest in the Northwest Passage on here recently. I thought that for those of you who didn’t learn about it extensively in school in the small corner of Canada that I did, I’d put together a little informative post on the extremely brief (and perhaps even inconsequential!) reference to the Northwest Passage in Episode 4. I’ll provide an overview of the Passage and its history, touch on some characteristics of travel to this region, and conclude with some completely speculative comments on the literary purpose of evoking the passage in this scene in Season 4.
A quick note on the colonial nature of this post: Throughout this short post, I refer to several colonial expeditions to the land many of us call Canada. Although I attempt to be cognizant of my language, it is important to note that the Inuit people who live in the arctic regions that I reference have navigated the sea ice for thousands of years (Panikkar et al., 2018) and that the written history of this region are often hegemonic and euro-centric narratives that were formed within colonial frameworks.

Exploring the Northwest Passage- a bit of context
In August of 1820, Lieutenant Edward Parry, a member of the British Royal Navy observed the dense ice and snow of arctic land and sea that was thought to be the location of the mysterious Northwest Passage. From a simple look, he knew that no ship in existence would be able to pass through ice sheets of such a great thickness and that extended for such a long distance (Brandt, 2011). Despite his pessimism, by Parry’s time, British sailors and explorers had been explicitly seeking the passage for hundreds of years (Williams & Costley, 2010; Day, 2006, p. xxiv), dreaming of exploiting the desirable economic prospect of a Western route from Europe to burgeoning Asian markets.
First encounters: When European sailors first encountered North America, it was in pursuit of a route west to Asia. They were, of course, incorrect about the location of Asia. And although a great deal of interest shifted to mapping the new continent, there was also an acknowledgement that there would be great economic benefits to finding a way around this newly encountered landmass (Day, 2006). Over time, the reasons and methods of locating the Northwest Passage changed and evolved, but interest never truly went away.
Renewed British interest: Notably, at the end of the 15th century, when the Ottoman Turk’s empire extended into the Mediterranean and eastward, European merchants were no longer allowed to move and trade freely (Day, 2006). Seeking new routes for the Pacific, European (and especially British) explorers turned West. The Northwest Passage was a concept, a theoretical possibility, for European explorers. It was seen as a potential commercial sea route to the trading markets that were already established and burgeoning in Asia. The Passage was a route with phenomenal economic potential, especially as European consumers sought spices, materials, salts, and woods from foreign markets (Williams & Costley, 2010).
Based on their knowledge of the Southern Hemisphere and the potential geography of the world, many believed that a similar passage would be reflected in the earth’s northern pole (Day, 2006). As a result, there was a massive potential for financial gain for colonial governments and individuals, should such a passage ever be found.
Public fascination: The passage became a point of national fascination for many members of the public. In pursuit of this fascination, many enthusiastic researchers “persuaded persons of influence and wealth to send out discovery expeditions” (Williams & Costley, 2010, p. xv). With governments in Europe stabilizing, the emergence of an economy of cheap labour (lower class men who were willing to take on the dangerous work at sea), and the rapid development of ship technology, the 1600s was a prime time to set out on expeditions.
The fascination with the Passage continued for 300 years until a passage was finally navigated by sea in full in the 1900s. Over the course of history, Anthony Brandt describes the fascination with the Passage’s discovery as a tragedy (2011). He writes: “hubris, an all-too-human arrogance and pride that triggered a particular calamity” (p. 5) as being the tragedy of the exploration for the Passage. Despite the fascination of the public with it, the ice “remained intractable, impenetrable, and, for those who challenged it, a kind of fate” (p. 5) George Malcom Thomson reported that the Passage did not exist where popular imagination speculated it must be (Day, 2006). He noted: “the whole enterprise was founded on a misapprehension, a geographical fiction, a fairy-tale … and downright inventions that scholar manufacture to amaze themselves” (p. xxv).
The danger of the passage: Voyages to and in search of the passage were fraught. Many never returned, and those who did survive faced immense physical and mental challenges. There were, of course, significant difficulties with massive ice drifts and shelves. However, the relative location of the expeditions to the north pole led to issues with magnetic variation for compasses. Fog further complicated travel (Williams & Costley, 2010).
There were also extreme mental dangers to pursuing the NWP. MooSmith’s expedition in the mid-1700s reported “potentially murderous quarrels between officers” (Williams & Costley, 2010, p. xvi); John Franklin noted that the things that occurred on his ship “must not be known” (p. xvi); and it was noted that on the McClure, Beckler, and Collinson expeditions, “tensions” erupted “as captains and subordinate officers exchanged threats of court martial, and some officers spend years under close arrest on their ships” (p. xvi).
In the time of Bridgerton: The end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 allowed for greater expeditions by the British Royal Navy (Day, 2006). This would have included surveys of a large portion of the global north and the Arctic. There were a large number of “successful” (depending on how you define it) land expeditions that had made progress in producing surveys and maps of the region. Despite significant ongoing interest in discovering the Passage, in particular, little progress had been made. Later still, despite more advanced mapping by the Hudson Bay Company and expeditions by many notable sailors, there was still no route by the 1820s (Day, 2006).
What does it signify? If a character in Bridgerton was voyaging to the Arctic, it could take them less than a year to reach areas of the Hudson Bay that would be suitable for a scientific voyage. That in itself is not overly dangerous. However, the reference to the Northwest Passage is an interesting literary point. Of all of the places to voyage in the Arctic, even at the time, it would have been an immensely dangerous trip to set out on. The persistent lack of success for a solid 30 years after this season takes place may reference the fact that this is a voyage that Debling is unlikely to ever return from.
It doesn’t help that Debling’s odds are really stacked against him. He does not eat meat, one of the only renewable sources of food for arctic expeditions. There is little to no fresh naturally occurring produce (during the Coppermine expedition, the surviving crew members famously ate lichen to survive once they lost the favour of local indigenous groups and fur traders) and did not do well.
Certainly, it lends a very tragic potential element to the story. The Arctic, if mentioned alone, is not necessarily an overly dangerous location to travel to. Yes, marine travel in the 1800s was still a dangerous endeavour in its own right, let alone in an area as unnavigable by sea as the Arctic. However, the North, in many regions, had active whaling expeditions, Indigenous populations that were willing to trade and work with sailors, and (in some areas) active fur trades. If the purpose of Debling’s travel was only to highlight his unique interests and sense of purpose, the show had many methods of doing so. The choice to reference a notorious and dangerous Northwest Passage, there is an extremely interesting element of danger that is introduced.
What would this potential marriage mean for Penelope? Of course, Penelope’s name may be a reference to the wife of Odysseus, who unwillingly takes ten years to return home after the Trojan war. In contrast to Colin, who returns with a steadfast conviction, Debling, as a traveler, may represent a kind of eternal limbo for Penelope, should she marry him. Although Debling’s trip is set to take 3 years, it would be hard to prove his death. Likely, she would be a widow for years, if not her entire life, before they were able to locate his ship. The HMS Terror was famously lost in 1845 and not located until 2016(!). As a result, Penelope would likely be stuck at home, awaiting his return, in the same tragic fashion of her namesake in Greek mythology.
As such, not only is there a potential tragic reference to Debling’s future, but there is also a dark illusion to what Penelope’s life may look like as his wife. Of course, this is all based entirely on implication, but it is an interesting act of speculative foreshadowing.

My girlfriend '21 F'and I '21M' broke up about a month ago. It wasn't an ugly one. We loved each other and always will but we couldn't work through our differences and decided that it was for the best for the both of us to split up. If I am being honest, one could look at things and say that it was mutual breakup but when we were having the conversation about whether we should stay together or break up, it looked like she was just too exhausted and had lost her will in fighting for this. I could sense it and I finally asked her, " Do you think we are fighting for a losing cause?", to which she replied that she's not fighting anymore, not right now. She was and I think still is the most beautiful human being I've ever come across. We dated for 2 years and everything was perfect. I couldn't imagine my life without her, still can't.
We had a big fight during valentine's. During the month of January, we were fighting almost every weekend. So, I decided to make up for all the fighting, in February, on Valentine's day, and decided to order her a gift which was a photo of us and the Spotify link of the first song we slow danced on, printed on a wooden plaque. The month of February came and she initiated the conversation about valentine's gift but I wanted to surprise her with my gift so I didn't tell her at first about it, but she felt bad that I wasn't as excited about valentine's. I then assured her that wasn't the case and I revealed my gift to her. She didn't outright say it but I could figure that she didn't like the gift( before this, I gifted her a paper on which I sewed a heart and drew a Spotify link of a playlist that I made her of songs which I wanted to dedicate to her. She just felt that both the gifts were very similar and that I just came up with the wooden plaque thingy on the spot and that I hadn't given it much thought. She just felt that it was used up and cliché. I genuinely didn't even think of my previous gift which I gave while selecting this one. I just thought that it would be a sweet thing to gift. Idk but I just wanted to surprise her, maybe in that process I hid my excitement and she must've felt that I wasn't excited or something. We were in a long distance relationship for our whole 2 years btw ). She asked me if it was okay if we don't do anything for this valentine's. I was definitely not okay with that and I asked her if there was something that she would like to have as a gift. She was still a little upset so she said that if I cared I would've asked her in the first place. 2 days after this I still ordered her the gift because I thought that she might've not seen the photo or the song that I printed on the plaque and that seeing the gift will change her mind. Few days went by and when the gift was about to arrive at her place, I started teasing her a little bit that I am sending her something. She got really upset, and said whatever I was sending her I must cancel it or return it. I told her that it couldn't be cancelled as it was already dispatched and about to arrive.She then asked me when did I order it, and I said I had ordered it before we had the conversation about not celebrating valentine's ( which was a lie ). She said that she will throw it, not open it or return the gift rather than accepting it. It really angered and hurt me when she said that. She then sent me Rs. 500 for the gift and asked me if that was enough or the gift costed more. I told her that it was enough but in reality it was for Rs. 540. She asked me to swear on her if that was the actual cost of the gift, and I did. I know, I fucked up. This was one rule in our relationship that we would never break, but I did and I will always regret doing that. I just- I will never forgive myself for doing so. 3 days passed by and the gift arrived. Along with the gift also came the fee invoice, on which the actual price of the gift and order date was written. The worst part is that I was still trying to defend myself. She asked me if I will stop manipulating the situation and tell the truth. I didn't even realise what I was doing. Her trust broke at that moment, and with her trust something else also broke that day in our relationship. We were never the same after that in our relationship but we didn't break up. We still worked together on our relationship. 3 months went by and i could see that she was giving her best to me and I was giving all that I could to her as well, but the guilt of what I did was so much for me that I would end up apologizing for it to her almost every day, and she would assure me that it was okay and that she had moved past that and I should too but I just couldn't. I could see she was getting irritated and exhausted of having the same conversation again and again for 3 months. Then came the day when everything broke down. 14th April, she said that she felt like we were like an old married couple who were in a relationship just for the sake of it. At that point I could feel something break in me. For those 3 months I was trying to have conversations with her on phone but I felt like she didn't seem interested in talking to me, She would either be on her phone than talking to me, so I told her that I felt like we are just updating each other of our day and it feels like a chore. I asked her if we could change this and she said "haven't we tried", to which I said "we have". I just felt like she has lost the will to fight for this and I have given her every reason to feel that way.
When we were having the conversation about whether we should still continue dating, one of the points she put forward was that I had lost myself in the relationship. I lost my individuality, the things that made me me. She had expressed this feeling before as well, that she felt like she was dating a version of herself and not me. That I was so scared to loose her that I lost myself in that process. That I was doing things just so that I don't lose her. I had no opinions of my own. One more fucked up thing is that whenever we went on dates, she was the one who initiated them in the last 6 months of our relationship. I felt like the most terrible person to ever exist in her life. So I decided that it time for me to work on myself and that if I continue things like they are, I will lose her, in return I just asked her to be please be gentle and patient with me. She indeed was gentle and patient and i initiated some fun online play dates but she was just busy with her stuff there and we couldn't do them.
Finally, on the call, I asked her, "are we breaking up?", she said "yeah". Her voice trembled and i broke down. In a shaky voice, she said " I need to cut this call ". I said " I'm sorry ". She said " I'm sorry too ". I locked myself in the washroom and cried.
It's been over a month to this and I still feel numb and scared. I find it difficult to sleep. I find it difficult to focus on things. I just keep thinking of all the things that I did wrong. I still care about her but the fact that she will never be mine again is too heavy for me, so I don't contact her much. I am not able to feel anything. I just feel this void. She was my everything. I painted a globe on a ball and wrote " You mean the world to me " on her birthday. She really did mean the world to me. I don't know what to do. She was my first ever girlfriend. She saw me and accepted me when I was invisible to others. She is the reason I know what love actually is.
Idk why I wrote such a long story. I guess I just needed to talk to someone about this.

2024.05.19 21:20 WheresSmokey Alternative understanding of the OT (specifically the Torah/Pentateuch) and the tripartite division of the law

This is from a comment I made over in the main sub yesterday. I’m working through my own understanding of this and an interested in feedback and criticism. If this doesn’t fit under philosophy, then let me know. But part of my view is a critique of the moral/civil/ceremonial division of the law. I understand that a division of the law is seen by both Sts Augustine and Thomas Aquinas (though a bit differently). I’m not debating the patristic tradition, but rather the underlying logic those saints used.
I also recognize there is another tradition which states most of the laws given at Sinai were given because of the golden calf incident and thus were abolished by Christ (this is found in the apocryphal apostolic constitutions If I remember correctly). But again, I question the logic.
The reason I question this logic is this: why would Matthew include the “fulfill not abolish” language in his Gospel if this statement ceased to be of importance after the ascension (when the book was written).
Anyway, on to my proposition. I don’t claim to have patristic evidence for this framework. But this framework does arrive at a very similar effect for the average Christian as the tripartite division does, but it gets there in a very different way, one that makes WAY more sense in my brain. So if y’all can poke holes, please do. If yall can show I’m wildly misunderstanding the tripartite division, please do.
This particular area I’ve been doing A LOT (last 6-9 months) of soul searching/prayer and study on because I don’t like the “moral/ceremonial/civil” distinction. I don’t think the Torah makes any such distinction and that the distinction only works when read back onto the Torah in light of church teaching. Which is FINE and good for arriving at an answer as a Catholic. But I don’t think it’s the logic the 1st and 2nd generation church would’ve used.
We keep the whole law of the Old Testament; Christ came to fulfill, not abolish. The difference is that it doesn’t quite look the same because
  1. ⁠We assume the ancient Israelites enforced the Torah EXACTLY the way it’s read. Break a law? Straight to stoning. But this isn’t how it worked. There were courts and burdens of proof. AND there was a chance for repentance. King David, a man after God’s own heart commits murder AND adultery (and tacitly admits to it when confronted) and yet he repents! By some modern folks reading he should’ve been executed according to the Torah.
  2. ⁠Christ has come. The thing that the entire OT was building up to happened. So our understanding of things changed. The covenant with Noah didn’t negate the covenant with Abraham, but things certainly look different after Noah. Same with Noah to Abrahamic covenant. Same when the covenant is given through Moses as Mt Sinai. The old is not abrogated, but it is built upon and things after look very different.
So, where are all the cleanliness laws, sacrificial laws, feasts, ritual washings etc etc? Well, it’s baked into the new covenant and by extension the church. Some examples:
  1. ⁠Sacrificial law: Christ IS most of those sacrifices. He is a sacrifice of thanksgiving (Eucharist literally means thanksgiving), a sacrifice for sin (by his stripes we are healed), a Passover sacrifice (through which we are spared death and brought to life), the day of atonement sacrifice (he is both goats, the goat that takes away the sin and the goat who’s blood purifies the whole camp, now understood to be the whole earth). We still have morning and evening sacrifices (Lauds and Vespers, sacrifices of praise, in the Latin tradition). We still do incense offerings even at Mass and more traditional lauds and vespers celebrations.
  2. ⁠Cleanliness: this one is entirely wrapped up in the day of atonement. If his blood cleanses the whole world, how can something be called intrinsically unclean? This means that nothing (including food, clothing, or people) are intrinsically unclean. Rather we (and objects) are defiled by what we do (or how it is used). Thus we are still not to have anything to do with unclean things, but what exactly is unclean has changed. You can see this in the fact we purify/cleanse altars that have been desecrated.
  3. ⁠Ritual washings: baptism, holy water before entering the church, sprinkling over people at high feasts, foot washing
  4. ⁠Feasts: Pentecost was an Israelite holiday that we still celebrate, Passover is Easter, feast of booths is transfiguration, etc. we just have them renamed for they BECAME to us through the establishment of the new covenant
  5. ⁠Tabernacle/temple construction: traditional church architecture still abides by the general layout. Holy of Holies: tabernacle and sanctuary. Holy place: knave. Inner court: vestibule. Outer court: the world. Through Christs redemption everyone has moved a step closer to God. Those of relegated to never being in the temple are always in the outer court. But we can all enter the inner court (vestibule). The holy place is not relegated to just priests, but the priesthood of all believers (Catholics in the knave). The priests can all now go into the holy of holies (sanctuary/tabernacle). And instead of one priest once a year going in to God, God comes out to us in the Eucharist.
  6. ⁠As for the remaining punitive laws, most people only have issue with the penalties assigned. But we’ve already talked about under what circumstances those penalties would be enforced. Basically you had to be unrepentant. So in the Christian understanding, what is consequence of sin? Death. What is death? Well there’s physical death (separation of soul from body) and there’s spiritual death (separation of soul from God). A person who lives in sin without repentance is dying or dead (venial vs mortal sin). And when recognized by the church in a lot of cases an excommunication would be pronounced. This separation from the church, separation of a branch from the true vine. A branch separated is dead. So we don’t execute people as the church, but the church long recognized the civil government’s authority to do so. And even without that, sin is death, and excommunication is death. But it’s important to note that in NO way was the average Israelite running around pronouncing death penalties on people. They had courts and priests that did this. Same as we have tribunals and priests and bishops who do this.
  7. ⁠Circumcision: this is fulfilled with baptism. It’s the outward sign of entrance into the people of God. Circumcision to become a part of the OT people of God and baptism for the New covenant people of God.
  8. ⁠A lot of the specifics are alterable with time and circumstance (Jesus gives the apostles this authority with the ability to “bind and loose”). Even in the OT this happened between exodus law in the wilderness vs changes that happen with Leviticus and Deuteronomy since they’re readying to enter the promised land and not be a nomadic people in the wilderness. And even by extra biblical accounts, the specifics had changed a bit in the rituals by the time of the second temple era. Yet Jesus still tells the people to submit to the valid authority of the religious leadership of the day; he notably doesn’t tell them to interpret the Torah for themselves and correct the instructions of priests and rabbis.
So practically speaking, yes the triple category can still be laid out. Our ceremonial law is more governed by our liturgical books than Leviticus on a literal front, and our civil law is found in Canon law now, and moral laws (as we have defined the moral life) is still found in the OT among many other places. But all of it is still rooted in what the people of God have been practicing since Mt Sinai though.

my sister (19F) and I (17F) have NEVER gotten along for long. we've argued our whole lives and we are the complete opposite of each other. if it helps, shes an INFJ and im an INFP.
so we'd argued all day, literally since I woke up we've been arguing. so things were already tense.
we had to go to my grandparents for a birthday thing for lunch and I don't eat at the table (I never do, this isn't new and no one cares). but ofc my sister takes it upon herself to tell me it's disrespectful. maybe if I was at some formal dinner but these r my grandparents, I stay at their place for weeks at a time (mostly to get away from my sister). I tell her that no one cares and I just wanna watch TV while I eat.
so I put a movie on (I also asked her earlier if she wanted to watch any in there from my collection of blu rays but she said I only have boy movies, bc thats another thing, she criticises my favourite things but whatever). as I'm setting up the movie she comes in and says shes gonna eat in here. I told her I like to eat alone (especially since she's been pissing me off all day) and she's stubborn as hell so I decided to leave and just eat somewhere else.
which is ridiculous, she doesnt even want to watch a movie she just hates our grandpa and our dad so she doesnt want to sit with them (I have great relationships with them too, she hates the ENTIRE family except mum and nana).
but when I left, she gets pissy bc she handles emotions as well as a 6 year old so she narcs to mum (which she does ALL THE TIME). so I don't wanna start anything so I come back and just deal with it but then she just says despicable me. I'm like what? she says I wanna watch despicable me. yeah no matter I'd just spent 5 minutes skipping the ads on this movie and my food is getting cold) but WHATEVER. I go to get it and im changing going thru the motions again, all the ads.
also the movie I'd put on before was hotel Transylvania but she didn't wanna watch it bc its "sad". she calls every family movie sad. I csnt even say the word WALL-E or god forbid fhe lion king. I'm an insanely emotional person, but the difference between us is I like to express sadness and I cry a lot when she expresses all her emotions in anger. she says im depressed all the time and makes fun and asks if I "forgot my anti-depressants". I don't even take them, and if I did she'd mock me and say that that im a bad person for taking mental heath drugs.
so movies on, I can finally eat and for a while we actuslly get along and since it's a background movie rly she's not forcing me to rewind every 3 minutes. that's y I stopped watching movies with her, she made me rewind and it's take a afternoon to watch ONE movie. she also didn't want to watch anything with me when our parents were home as if she's embarrassed to watch stuff with me. which feels GREAT. I think it's bc she doesn't want dad to see her watch a "kids" movie like beethoven.
so we laughing, it's okay. well except the part when she says i need to eat like a "lady" and that i need to be "ladylike". do u know how much that makes me want to burp in her face?im considered relatively "unladylike" i guess. i swear a lot and i make a lot of dirty jokes. its part of my charm lol. she hates it tho. and my sarcasm, REALLY hates it.
i finish eating snd after a while I get a little bored so I start playing temple run 2 on my phone. she HATES me reading, or looking st my phone if she's with me, she gets rly angry but I'd figured since its just a background movie it's fine. she says to me, very blunt, get off her ur phone. and I have this thing where I hate being told what to do, if it's unreasonable or how they say it. so I don't get off my phone. she then opens her phone and starts watching yt shorts very loudly. I think she expects this to annoy me but news flash, I don't give a shit what she does bc I don't obsess over what other ppl do like she does.
still tho, I don't wanna listen to her preachy, anti-feminism, homophobic bullshit on full blast. thats another thing, I'm a huge supporter of the feminist movement and equality and lgbt rights when shes dead against it. she thinks mothers csnt have careers and being lgbt is wrong. she uses her religion as an excuse for it too. I'm a nihilist as well so every time I say jesus or oh my god she freaks out at me. idc what her religion is, I don't tell her what to do but she tells me I'm being disrespectful. oh I csn get real disrespectful real fast but I don't bc thats her opinion and this is mine.
some thing thats ironic is that im super for lgbt and women rights even more bc of her. I hate seeing how hateful she is towards these groups and minorities so it's made me support them even more. also fhe fact that she's called me a lesbian and intersex and a boy snd countless other things bc of my interests. I'm straight and an lgbt ally who loves marvel and star wars and video games and shee sees those as reasons to call me a lesbian? she also says I dress like one but she dresses like strawberry fucking shortcake if she had no style whatsoever. I wear movie referenced t shirts and hoodies and I like to think I have some sense of style but she says I dress like a boy bc of ONE Simpson skeleton on my shirt. she also says fhe complete opposite if I wear my hair in pigtails, that I dress like a little girl. which is it, sister dearest? am I a boy or a little girl?
anyway, as I was saying she starts watching stuff at full blast, I don't say anything I just put my headphones on. then she starts getting mad. oh she HATES my headphones, she thinks its the most disrespectful thing. I have a lot of anxiety when I leave the house so I have my headphones on all the time, music calms me and I listen to music every day and it's just something i do but she hates it. I dont see y it's different for me to wear my headphones if I'm not gonna talk to anyone anyway. she feels the same when I read around her. I love books, I read a lot and its yet AHOTHER thing she hates about me.
so she starts getting angrier and telling me to take my headphones off but by this point I'm done with the movie anyway and I wanna be alone so I get up to leave. I say I'm not dealing with this shit. she then puts her feet up on the pouffe (which I let her use bc theres only one and she was complaining) to block me. I tell her to move and she says to stay and watch the movie with her. now it's her words that I understand what she rly means. she wants me to sit and watch the movie with her for some reason. but no, I'm not dealing with her bullshit. she keeps blocking me and then she gets up and im just trying to get past without hurting her but shes not ceasing.
bc forcing someone to sit with u and bossing them around is the best way to bond with ur little sister ofc.
eventually I start shouting at her bc ik she'll start to panic if our grandpa will hear. (She's so fake in front of him too, all smiley and happy when inside she hates him. shes like that with every human in the planet besides me mum, dad and nana. she just openly hates me and dad. it's interesting to me how she hates everyone and makes fun of ppl online but yet she still worries about hurting their feelings more than anyone ik. she can be empathetic in that sense at least. it's hard for someone who sees the world in black and white tho, as she does. I just see fifty Shades of grey (hah).
but my shouting isn't working so I'm done and I shove her out the way and ofc that rly ticks her off. I don't understand what she expects me to do, but she gets rly angry when it happens. she shouts for mum ofc. I grab all my stuff so she csnt do anything to it (she breaks my lego regularly and changes the bookmarked pages in my books a lot and searches thru my phone and texts if I leave anything around her). im just heading to the backyard so I'm away from her, I thought about leaving the house entirely but we were gonna leave soon anyway (or i was told).
I walk past mum on my way out and she asks what's wrong snd I'm just too pissed off to rly explain anything so I just say my sister js crazy or something like that. I sit outside listening to music and avoid my sister rhe rest of the afternoon. I knew she'd be talking to my mum about what I did and spinning it so I was the hateful sister who doesnt want to watch a movie with her which yeah is technically true but how is it fair that she treats me like that still? am I supposed to just let her walk all over me?
my mum thinks that. she tells me to give in and just agree to anything and just do whatever my sister says. my mum is my sisters slave too. she'll do anything to keep the peace and just agrees to whatever my sister wants. the countless times she gets whatever take away she wants and im left with the leftovers in the fridge bc im the "easy child". Or at least I used to be, fron my mums perspective. just bc im chill and not insanely entitled and demanding like my sister.
so later in the night when we all at home I go to the kitchen and my mums in tjere and my dads rhere too, just eating. little did the man know what he'd be in the middle of in a few minutes.
my mum hasn't spoken to me about what went down at my grandparents, hasn't gotten my perspective but whatever. she asks me what was so wrong with watching a movie with my sister. I didn't even stop watching the movie bc of my sister, I just had it on while I ate my dinner and I told her as much. they always do this, say "with ur sister" when it's just something we just happened to both be doing. they make it sound like I'm deliberately being a dick to her bc im hateful. then my mum starts going off and saying shit like "u watch movies with ur friends and ur father, y csnt u watch them with her?" I didn't wanna say that I csnt watch movies with her bc it gets on my nerves bc my sister csn hear everyrthing in the house, we all constantly aware of that as if she's always listening, its creepy as hell but she's too nosy.
I say that I was done with the movie and she started bossing me around so I left. That's the truth bur my mum was like NO DONT GIVE ME THAT SHIT, U DONT WANT TO WATCH MOVIES WITH HER BUT U DO WITH UR FRIENDS AND UR FATHER. U NEVER DO ANYTHING WITH HER, HOW DO U THINK THAT MAKES HER FEEL? UR NOT UNDERSTANDING HER SIDE

PROBABLY THE ONLY 2 GENRES I DONT WATCH. I watch SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS and she happens to watch the ones I HATE. how r we supposed to watch stuff together with all that, and her bloody rewinding and her criticisms? ITS IMPOSSIBLE.
we agree on very few movies and when we do she wants to watch them so much that she thrashes them. now I'm a person who's seen deadpool a million times and I rewatch everything, I've seen the office thousands of times but she still somehow manages to ruin things for me. she nearly ruined fawlty towers.
now on one hand, my sister has no friends and every one she's ever had has always betrayed or bullied her. thats true, mostly. ppl have been horrible to her forever, I understand she is damaged but she takes it out on me. and how can she ever make friends again if they ever make mistakes she never forgives them? I have a friend who ratted me out to the teacher on the first week I met her for swearing bur she's one if mt closest friends going on 5 years now. every friend I have has fucked up before obviously we human we mess up and learn. my sister won't accept any mistake outside of me or mum. my dad has suffered from that as has my aunt and my cousins. they messed up one too many times and instead of communicating with them, she ignored it so it continued and now she'll never forgive them. obviously that doesn't excuse their behavior but she has to forgive or else she'll be alone. this is the only reason y I still give her chances, bc I used to think maybe she'll learn and get better. but she still treats me worse than anyone I've ever known. but I dont want to give up on her like she's done.
when I move out (as fast as fucking possible) I'll still see her but just a lot less. She and I rly don't work well and she hates everyrthing and everyone important to me.
Still tho, perhaps I am the asshole here. Idk rly. I don't treat her perfectly either, I try tho. And I apologise and I mean it. When she apologises she just means she's sorry she's hurt me, not for what she djd. Bc she does it again and again and again.

I (24, M) have a childhood friend (24, M) na kasama ko buong buhay ko. My friend's family parang rags to riches iyong buhay nila pero hindi naman super mayaman like maginhawa lang sa buhay. Iyong family niya super bait talaga sa akin and they treat me as part of them since kung may gala lagi akong kasama at lagi akong may gift. They treated so kindly talaga. My childhood friend, mabait naman siya towards me. Growing up, mayroon pagka-spoiled siya at ayaw niya magpatalo sa mga arguments kahit hindi akma iyong mga points niya. Kahit bata pa ako noon alam ko iyong ugali niya kaya tikum-bibig na lang ako kapag may heated arguments na, mostly sa other friend ko (pinsan ko) lagi niyang ka-debate. Happy naman ako kasi nag-improve friend ko from shy type to active person sa school namin during HS kasi magaling talaga sumayaw at talented siya. Ewan ko ba, baka siguro nagulat siya sa sudden recognition at appreciation ng mga tao at parang na-boost ego niya. Ahead ako ng one school year sa kaniya so ang naging classmate niya iyong pinsan ko dahil pinalipat siya sa first section. Naging friends naman niya iyong classmates niya. I'm happy for him kasi may new set of friends siya and was never jealous of it. He always lead their group. Kasi siya iyong may malaking ambag sa kanila tuwing galaan so siya mostly nasusunod. According sa pinsan ko, masyado talaga siyang matampuhin at biglang nagka-cancel or nagba-backout sa plano pag hindi nasusunod gusto niya. May mga instances na nag-aaway sila tapos maya't maya ay aalis sa GC. I hear both of their sides naman, parehong may mali at lapses. Hindi naman ako iyong tipong gagatungan ang apoy. I stayed neutral kasi kaibigan ko sila. Noong nag-college na kami, his Mom offered na siya ang iyong mag-sponsor sa schooling ko. Mabuti na lang at sa city siya nag-school. Alam ko kasi magiging sunod-sunoran ako sa kaniya kasi naman hindi gaanong marunong sa gawaing-bahay tapos noon lagi kong tinutulungan sa project niya either hindi niya ginagawa dahil tinatamad siya o siguro alam niyang tutulong ako. As a friend, gusto kong matuto siya at magsumikap na hindi umaasa sa iba lalo na sa academics at luckily natuto rin naman and I'm proud of him.
We are so DIFFERENT talaga. In every aspect, we do not have the same interests and likes. Maybe we become familiar to each other but never really get know the each other.
Noong pandemic doon ko napaisip that we will never become friends kung hindi lang sa magkapitbahay kami. Our perspective in life is so different. When he starts to work out, doon iyong nadevelop superiority complex niya as per my observation lang. A KNOW IT ALL ALPHA. He proudly and verbally says he is an Alpha and points out people who are Sigma, Beta etc. He does not openly says he is better than everyone but the context and everything tells otherwise. His a fan of Andrew Tate as well. When there is ganap sa HS batch, sumasama naman siya pero hindi nakikihalubilo tapos iyong pinsan ko masyadong nahihirapan kasi ayaw ng friend ko makisali sa grupo which getting together lang. Casual talk kumbaga. He says he is not into bodyshaming pero mina-mock niya friends niya. Also he has a beef with LGBT people. Sabi niya di naman siya homophobic but I can sense the internalized homophobia. He knew and can sense that I am not straight since I told him about it. Maybe he approves the version of non-straight of me because I dress like a man and I'm comfortable with the version of me. Doon talaga ako na-off noong Presedential Election. By the way he is BBM supporter and I do not have problem with that. I am open to discussion with facts only and no biases. Yet, iyon na nga nagpapaniwala sa theories na mga youtubers na pawang haka-haka lamang at open naman ang internet to find legit sources to fact-check tapos dumaan sa research subject noong HS pa lamang pero bakut di magawa. Hindi man sabihin pero sobrang competitve niya sa other men. He always says "Hindi ko sila ka-level. Why would I give a fuck about them?" He claims he does not care about other people but was unaware that he talk bad about them (now, I talk bad about him which is not good). He brags. When I bought my Ipad he doesn't want to be outshined so he tells that his mom bought latest model of the ipad, iphone and he will be getting new one, brags about his motorbike na parang siya ang nagbabayad and one time nagalit siya sa kapatid niya kasi ayaw magcontribute pang-down for installment sa motor. He lectures his sister kung paano palakihin at disiplinahin iyong anak niya where in fact wala naman siyang experience paano palakihin ang anak. He held a grudge with his kuya.
I'm losing trust of him and I do not share my personal life with him because I knew how judgemental he is. I am not seeking his approval or anything. It's just that he is too draining to be with. Mabigat siyang kasama. I do not see him as my friend if he continue to be like that. I did not communicate with him on what I am feeling pero dinaan ko sa one-on-one talk with him to check his perspective. Ang hirap niyang pakisamahan. I am worried sa magiging future partner niya because she has to deal all of his drama.
I do not wish with end of the friendship but pero hindi rin ako magugulat. I wish him well in life. ABYG?
