Hello!! I generally love/am good at gift-giving, but this year I'm really struggling.
I'm truly stumped as to what to get my boyfriend as a birthday and anniversary gift.
For context: my boyfriend and I have been together for nearly 5 years, he is turning 23 and still lives at his parents house (as he is planing to build his own). We share very similar interests, and because of that, we usually agree to get whatever piques our interest at that moment jointly (i.e., a Switch, a boardgame, a video game, etc.). Though it's nice quality-of-life-wise, it makes it so hard to pick a special gift for him because for the most part, he/we already has/have it!
Onto what he's actually into: - he works in a lab and likes sciences in general (especially chemistry and biology) - he likes gaming (on his switch e.g Pokemon, The Binding of Isaac but he doesnt really need anything for that) - he really enjoys board games (e.g Doomlings -but we mostly buy them together) - he likes museums - he likes lego (but he already gifted me some this year ) - he likes to read ( last year I got him lots of books to read already) - he likes riddles, crosswords etc. - he likes cooking ( but he doesn‘t own his own kitchen - so kitchen related things wouldn‘t make sense) - he doesn‘t like clutter (as he only has one room for his stuff and therefore there is not mich space for things) - he likes massages (but he regularly gets them from me) - he likes practical things - he likes nature - he likes to write poems - he is totally into vintage stuff - he's a creature of habit and basically like an old man haha

Oh and also, we live in a quite rural area so there are basically no courses or classes or anything that we could take (such as cooking classes etc)

Hey, I'm an international student from India. My high school and senior secondary is done in CBSE curriculum. I don't plan to take the AP exams as such cuz they're obviou expensive and I'm broke (hence I'll be requiring financial aid) I plan to pursue Biomedical Engineering. First Generation/ Single Mothe Dad abandoned.
Responsibilities: Mother's leg got fractured in IXth- explains my relatively okay ish performance in finals of 9th grade. Also she suffers from calcium deficiency and bone related issues so I look upon that aspect too. Also have been batteling financial constraints and hence started working at a nearby store, managing academics + finances.
My stats: (My High School was relatively a small school catering to 300-450 students. Selected amongst a pool of students for showing genuine interest for Shadow A Scientist Program by CSIR- CCMB to spend a day in the lab of a senior scientist of our choice and understand the workings and behind the scenes of the lab, enhancing intellectual vitality and also this showcases genuine interest of mine for biomedical engineering. Got to spend a day at a Stem Cell Technology lab and learnt about Cryoscopy, Cell Transfusion, Ways to detect whether the cell is dead or nope by its surface and color of the solution, specific temperatures to adhere to, Onset of Cancer Cell and how it looks like in the beginning ears, Results of Tests ran on lab mice to understand cancer cells development in neural muscles and veins and how it affects brain functioning, and how does removing that cancer part again affects the functioning, and learnt about an Experiment conducted by LV Prasad Institute of Technology in collaboration with CSIR CCMB for Hydrogel and it's effect in clearing Eye infections by testing it on a New Zealand Rabbit. Results showed that enhances recovery period etc were detected on the subject which was studied under hydrogel vs one which was given normal ones- ultimately leading to his blindness.

This was made by using tools in our Atal Lab and was displayed at National Thalir innovation fest and won creative mastery award. Also had the opportunity to display it at T-WORKS Hyderabads Makers Space Open House which displayed various prototypes and new ideas and got ideas from engineers on how to further develop it.
Worked on Wipro Earthian Waste Management project, assessing qualitatively and quantitatively the wastage generated in school as a whole and disposal measure. Got to know the waste is burnt in the area near to school buses which the students as well as the cows which are in the School's Cattle House are in close proximity with during breaks and home returning time and hence approached the authorities and enclosed the area where the waste is burnt with tin sheds, limiting it's transfusion to human and animal lives and limiting the area where it's burnt, reducing the land that gets degraded.
Also won Swami Vivekananda Youth Level Leadership Award for Outstanding Leader. The contest was held over a 5 month period and had 500 participants in the start. Contest assessed decision making, collaborativeness, thinking ability, honesty quotient, speech, communication, approachibility as a leader, and team work. Grade 12th It'll start soon. I'll be applying for Head Boy. Plan on inception of a Major Club: Young leaders club which will house minor magnet clubs like mental health peer support group to help students battle mental health issues due to academics and family problems,environment warriors, bookers club, and youth advocacy club.
I'll be giving SAT but am unsure about the funds cuz again it'll cost 12k for the registration. I'm working right now to save the amount. It's the finances.
I'm unsure about my college acceptance. I've added big ivy universities and mainly private universities cuz they'll be need blind if I get in and are generous, unlike others who take international students as cash cows. If the tution is covered I can manage housing and flight by education loan as such. Public universities give a side eye to international students so can't afford that.
Due to financial constraints I've also started preparing for JEE - an examination in our nation for admission to engineering colleges as a backup option just in case this doesn't work.

• A) The Hundred Year War Era of the TTRPG is set after Ozai ascends the throne, so only concerns the state of the world towards the very end of the war but before Aang awakens.
• B) Suki Alone starts sometime after the kyoshi warriors are defeated by Azula as depicted in Appa's Lost Days. and (based on Azula's dialogue) before Azula and co. enter Ba Sing Se in time to arrive for the end of The Earth King. Mind you another line of Azula's dialogue would make more sense if placed after Crossroads of Destiny, but i choose to view that as the continuity error. Then presumably there is a decent amount of travel time and the events of Suki Alone are concurrent with late S2 and early S3.
• C) The content set between ATLA S2 and S3 may overlap to some degree, but I put Its Only Natural first since Kuei and Bosco are only with the gaang a short time.
• D) Love is a Battlefield takes place while Sokka and Zuko are at the Boiling Rock.
• E) Bumi vs Toph actually takes place between scenes of S3E19
• F) Smoke and Shadow overlaps with both The Rift and North and South. I considered placing NS pt. 1 before SS pt. 3, but the latter takes place right after SS pt. 2 and theoretically there'd be a decent amount of travel time for Sokka and Katara between trilogies. This overlap is also why I didn't include any other post-show comics between these three trilogies.
• G) Sokka's Poem is sometimes assumed to be set during the show, but it references the wolf spirit from The Search.
• H) The Scarecrow has been placed during the show by some fans, while others place it after Imbalance (as listed on the wiki). I couldn't find a source for it being after Imbalance, but the gaang's outfits are similar to that trilogy, so figured its at least around there.
• I) The cookbook is set post-show and features an Azula on friendly-ish terms with the gaang, so must take place after content featuring her as a villain. I considered not listing it because....its a cookbook. But the format is comparable to the legacy books which are generally viewed as canon.
• J) LotFN utilizes the scrapbook format to have letters, other writings and moments from different time periods. Specifically sometime after North and South, years after that but before Tenzin's birth in 119AG, and around LoK when Zuko is elderly. The end depicts Zuko reuniting with Iroh's spirit, which would be after Korra and Zuko's meeting in S3. I was unsure where (or if?) to place it but figured the last time period would be viewed as the present day of the scrapbook's completion.

Microsoft is touting new computers with advanced chips designed to run artificial intelligence features of software for Windows, without quickly using up battery life.
The company on Monday announced Surface Laptop and a Surface Pro tablet with a Qualcomm chip that can run some AI tasks without an internet connection. Other computer makers like Lenovo, Dell, HP, Asus, Acer and Samsung are also launching AI-ready PCs powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus processors, which promise longer battery life and will run Microsoft’s Copilot AI chatbot.
The computers adhere to Microsoft’s new Copilot+ standard that feature a minimum amount of performance, storage and memory. Copilot+ PCs with AMD and Intel chips will follow, Microsoft said during a press keynote on its campus in Redmond, Washington. The PCs will be able to translate audio, recommend responses to incoming messages and suggest changes in the Settings app, and even talk with people about what’s on screen.
Copilot+ PCs will start at $999. Microsoft is accepting pre-orders as of Monday, and the devices will become available in June.
A Recall feature will be able to search through a log of previous actions on PCs. Recall relies on AI models that run directly on the device, so it can run offline, and an index of the data never goes to remote servers. AI models will be able to generate images based on written descriptions as well as drawings.
Microsoft is banking on Qualcomm’s energy-efficient Arm-based chips that can handle AI models to defend its Windows franchise. Apple has gained market share in PC shipments with MacBooks containing its Arm-based chips, having moved away from Intel, the top provider of computer processors.
Microsoft is expanding its effort to surround consumers and business users with ChatGPT-like capabilities. OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, released the ChatGPT chatbot in late 2022, and it quickly took off as a tool for quickly obtaining computer-generated poems, email drafts and summaries of historical events.
Other large technology companies, including Microsoft, soon started augmenting their products with generative AI. A Copilot chatbot drawing on ChatGPT’s underlying AI models came to the Bing search engine, along with the Windows 10 and 11 operating systems. Those with Office productivity software subscriptions could pay extra to have a Copilot refer to their documents for written responses.
The GPT-4 model inside ChatGPT has only done its necessary computing work in Microsoft’s Azure cloud. The new PCs can run some AI models locally without an internet connection. The launch comes nearly four months after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told analysts on the company’s earnings call that “in 2024, AI will become a first-class part of every PC.”
Microsoft has had little success in getting people to adopt Arm-based Windows computers, which haven’t always performed as well as PCs running Intel or AMD chips. Certain applications have been incompatible.
Running generative AI locally means computers will need more power, and strong battery life becomes more critical. That might make Windows on Arm more compelling.
Analysts with Morgan Stanley expect Arm systems to be 14% of all Windows PC shipments in 2026, up from 0% in 2023, according to a note distributed to clients earlier this month.

In this edition of “Odd Titanica”, we are going to dive into the sleazy, opportunistic world of show business. A world that comedian Fred Allen said of, “you can take all the sincerity in Hollywood, place it in the navel of a fruit fly, and still have room for three caraway seeds and a producer’s heart”. Hyperbolic? Let’s take a look at Hollywood’s response to the Titanic disaster to see that there really is no business like show business.
Dorothy Gibson and the lost, first, film are well worn trivia by now. The traumatized actress rushed into production, her inability to process her trauma causing her mental breakdown, collapse, and retirement from acting immediately after the film was finished - it’s a perfect story to demonstrate the callousness of the film industry. But there is more to the story, and digging deeper shows us that “Saved” may have been the least sleazy project undertaken by the studios.
Dorothy’s account of the sinking and the suffering she endured filming “Saved from the Titanic” are predominantly found in two sources - The New York Dramatic Mirror and Moving Picture World. These were trade magazines, published weekly, and consisting solely of material related to the stage and screen business. These would be announcements of upcoming features, casting news, celebrity gossip, technical news - anything the movie star to the man sweeping the floor at the cinema needed to know. And they included ads … lots and lots of ads.
Immediately realizing that Titanic was not only a horrible tragedy but an incredible business opportunity, Moving Picture World got to work. As people stormed White Star Line offices, and raided newspaper carts for any drop of news regarding the sinking, Moving Picture World provided the latest in Titanic news; or perhaps we should say “Titanic” news.
The headlines of the April 27th issue may have screamed TITANIC, but as the public grabbed their copy and hurriedly flipped through the pages, they found that what they were actually given was ads. Those eye grabbing headlines were followed by much smaller print-

UNSINKABLE … is the reputation of Rep productions, but these two releases will sink into the minds of everyone who sees them and will remain there as worthy object lessons.

THE DEATH SHIP...a sensational two reel drama of the sea containing one of the most thrilling dynamite explosions imaginable!
For all the slimy marketing tricks, flipping through the pages still has plenty of legitimate ads for real Titanic newsreels, movies, and a specific type of presentation known a Myriorama involving painting, music, and recitation. But, show business would strike again - the ads were legitimate, but what they were advertising was not. History has sort of forgotten the huge demand for Titanic media in the wake of the sinking, something that didn’t really exist. When cinema owners would order these “only surviving genuine negatives of the disaster” complete with lobby display package, they instead received-

our astonishment to find the Lusitania and Olympic, and one or two scratch films of ancient days posing as pictures of Titanic.

But they didn’t stop. Animated Weekly advertised that they were “the first to reach the wreck… chartered a tug from Cape Breton and rushed to the scene while the survivors were still in the water”. Cinemas began to promote footage of the sinking. Audiences wrote their disgust to Moving Picture World-

These representations are to the point of criminality … Take, for instance, the picture showing the Titanic with about a sixth of her forward length stuck into the iceberg. Everybody knows the collision did not occur in that manner!

They pointed to the following ad as an example - FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC OCEAN DISASTER. The cinema owners responded by noting that they had misread, crammed in tiny letters were the words “sunk in” so that ad actually read FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC sunk in OCEAN DISASTER. It was the customer's fault, they said, to be stupid enough to think anyone could have actually filmed the sinking.
Once this ruse was discovered, the studios shifted gears. The next step was to advertise film along with presentations by “A Lecturer who was on board”. When the audience realized the lecturer was not on Titanic and demanded a refund - the response from the managers was

… and any attempt to charge him with the crime of fraud was absurd because, in his own words-

Of course I didn’t give him his money back. The sign didn’t misrepresent anything. West was on the Titanic, the sign didn’t say when he was.

…which was true. The lecturer, Eugene West, had visited Titanic while she was under construction at Belfast.
As for the movies themselves?

We said we had pictures. If people were foolish enough to think we meant moving pictures, that was their fault.

This particular cheated audience member was told if he wanted his money back, to go on the street and sing for it. Whether it was this, or something else, eventually the public snapped and began hauling out cinema managers and beating them in the streets. By May, the mayors of Boston and Memphis had banned the showing of any Titanic pictures - moving or still- within the city.
But, where was Dorothy in all this? Tucked in the very back of the magazine, after another newsreel ad,, we get to the celebrity sighting and gossip section. Ed Lux of the Rex Film Exchange was in town, Dan Markowitz of Fox Pictures was as well, Arthur Schmidt of the Victor Film Company was seen having a lovely spa at a Turkish Bath, Sam Gobel of the St Louis Motion Picture Company has been walking up and down 42nd street, we don’t know if Southern film maker Henry Wasserman is still here but he might be, Dorothy Gibson survived the sinking of the Titanic, and the Director of Selig Pictures took some actresses to Santa Catalina for a swim and a photoshoot and they had a great time.
By the following edition, on May 2nd, Moving Picture World was also able to provide its readers with the first stills from “Saved from the Titanic” and a feature on Dorothy. Along with this, tucked in the editorials, the magazine finally published a piece of truthful news about the Titanic disaster-

Senator William Alden Smith … declined to grant permission to have the cinematopgraph make a record of the sessions of the committee. “The sessions” he is quoted as saying…”are solemn affairs and must not be hippodromed or commercialized”. He is, however, falling into a serious error in judgement-

…they sniffed.

As a matter of right, the camera man ought to have been permitted. The day of the enfranchisement of the motion picture will surely come .. which will give equal rights to the cinematographer and the newspaper man.

Then, among the illegal false advertising and reports of public brawls at the cinema, they ended with-

Maybe that's because since February of 2021 I've seen every fucking PsyOp trick in the book on the stock I like! All aided by heaping mounds of white collar crime, including the regular fraud, counterfeiting of securities, abusing market maker positions, plus the whole gamut from DTCC's blatant international stock fraud to market manipulation by CNBC a la the Citadel logos plastered across monitors and the set. All sanctioned by the US Government, as inaction from SEC, DOJ, FBI, and other various US government agencies makes them all complicit in all the crime of course, as I KNOW they can't play ignorant about the hundreds of tips and comments individual retail investors have submitted!

You’ll find it during the Superfan cut of “Goodbye, Michael.”
Right after he tells the office that Phyllis was hot in high school, Michael turns his attention to Stanley, who seems to be doing a crossword puzzle.
Michael pulls out a slip of patter and reads the following words: “Do you hate that I am proud and brown, standing here alive, with baby oil on my Nubian thighs? - Big Mama Angelou.”
Baffling.
After some googling, he seems to be conflating the poem “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor (not the first time he’s been mistaken about that song).
Then he wants to do a crossword with Stanley, but Stanley refuses. Then they wrestle over the crossword book, and a hentai illustration falls out.
It’s a very strange sequence. For the first joke to land, the audience would have to be familiar with the Maya Angelou poem and also understand that Michael confuses “I Will Survive” with other pieces of media. So I’m not surprised it was cut.
At any rate, it has to be the strangest joke in the entire show, right? I can’t think of one that’s more obscure.
Anyway, I just wanted to share because I was so blindsided by it. I’ve seen this episode SO many times now, and to have this new bit to talk about is a lot of fun.

I once worried about your liking for astrology and fortune telling for two reasons. One is that I don't believe it is scientific or accurate. I may believe the Sun and the moon affect our lives on Earth. On the other hand, stars and planets are too far and even different from the constellations as we see.
Then I started to wonder if there was any difference with my frequent visits and reliance on some stories. One of my friends once got frustrated by that and said, "Speak in your own words!" I often quote art, music, poems and literature when I express my thoughts.
You know my favorites are Greek and Roman myths, Odyssey, and recently the Divine Comedy and the like. I'm familiar with the tales of each tarot card holds as well. We see patterns in those long lasting narratives. As a book person, you know that, too.
Another reason that I worried about your practice was that I thought you were too lonely.
I heard some politicians rely on fortune telling on critical decisions such as on which date they should start a war. It's OK (I mean, wars are bad, but their decision making process) if they think it over and can't decide it when the options look similar. It's such a crucial decision that it must scare them when they know they have to face all the consequences.
I imagine you are a bit like those decision makers while I am not. Ofc you have friends to consult with, but at the end of the day, you often have to make your decisions, which will go beyond your life. Still you need take responsibilities for them.
I felt worried and sad about the distance when you were playing cards and drawing astrological charts. I imagined you wanted to ask and hear the voice of the supernatural when you sat alone so long on the top of the mountain. All I could do was to watch you being in the light years of solitude.
Good news that I want to tell you now is that I don't worry anymore when you practice astrology or read tarots. Now you allow me to look into your eyes so close, where I can see your spirit. You are a spiritual person, but still humanly humorous enough to stay down to earth. I'm happy to see you smile even when you are alone.
You don't follow the information that they show, religiously or blindly. They are spiritual and fun guides to you. It's still you that interpret the situations and choose the paths.
Me and you are different, but I think I understand your belief in divinity in this regard.
