2024.05.28 13:20 banana-tomato Make MLBB great again…

TLDR: So…what ideas do you have to make the game/gameplay/community better? You don’t have to read all this BS I wrote, but it’s there if you want to.
There’s no wrong answer…but I like it when people don’t agree with me or see creative solutions I don’t. I hope this post can help to guide Moonton even.
*If you need some creative help from me, feel free to keep reading and see if my unfounded opinions and questionable deductions inspire you in some way. If you already got something in mind, let it rip. If you don’t, It’s all good. Let’s just see if we can build something better than the system I myself am guilty of complaining about all the time.
The Long Soliloquy (Totally unnecessary rant) What makes a MOBA great?
For me, this is complexity. It’s the entire wealth of information available for you to dive into. The new world you can get lost with over a hundred heroes, heroes x3 skills, ten of items, multiple emblems and skills, unwritten hero and skill interactions, etc. all then converging into a strategic chess like game of move, countermove, and counter-countermove combined with (a bit) of the mechanical skill reminiscent of a point and click FPS like call of duty where I get the joy ( would smash?! ;) of watching my enemy shamefully die at my hands and lose painfully while I recall spam near their spawn. It’s absolute magic. It means you have not just another skill based shooter, but a game that REWARDS you for learning a wealth of knowledge about the game (heroes, classes, items, builds, emblems, timing, map knowledge, battle spells, etc.) and lets you utilize this knowledge in real time urgent battles that demand and reward mechanical skill (timing, skill and cooldown utilization, aim, etc.) all while creating opportunities and rewarding strategic manevering (drafting, itemization, skill interactions, etc.). My problem is that Moonton is after money (which I don’t mind aren’t we all) but seems to lack the creativity required to make money while also continuing to produce a game that keeps its player base happy and rewards their player base for its time and effort with a meaningful rank. Cause I know when I’m happy I’m spending $, and when I’m at the top of the game, or feel like I am, I’m spending $. But this is part of the problem too. Moonton is inflating rank to keep me happy. And at the top of rank to keep me happy. But wait, that’ guys at the same rank as me?! WTF! He just picked a third mm as roam! How is this possible?! Maybe it’s because this game is ultimately just an “improved upon” idea (LOL, DOTA) which may be the origin of the problem itself, a lack of creativity on the part of Moonton. I honestly think they try to give the player base what it wants , but sometimes at the cost of the game dynamics and community support. Possibly “simplifying” an overly complex game to be more consistent. Or that could be interpreted as shallowing the very depth of what makes this game so unique and fun for us hardcore fans. The wacky and hidden skill interactions that reward experience for example. Or maybe they are trying to have too much “mass appeal” while pissing all of us off. You decide. What do I mean? Glad you asked:
There seems to be a shift in MLBBs direction toward mass market appeal to further increase revenue. Like any company, they want more $. How do they plan to do this? Increase the player base and appeal to the upcoming, younger demographics. Starts off simple, if there are more people playing there is more potential for sales. They are more likely to sell skins, recalls, emotes, etc just based on the numbers alone. Ok, so how to you increase a player base? Make the game more appealing to EVERYONE. Including kids…but sometimes “mass appeal” turns into “mass discontentment” and instead of everyone liking the game and having something that works for them, everyone gets pissed at the game and the game maker. The game becomes toxic. It tries to please too many voices, and struggles between jeopardizing losing its hardcore fans (who spend lots of dough) or alienating its new fans (who will spend lots of dough in the future). It wants increased complexity and change for some long time fans of the game who have put in thousands of games(like me) and to be simple enough for new players (NOOBS!!!) to fall in love with. It seems like often both groups end up frustrated. What seemed like a good idea to give everyone a piece of the action while also solidifying Moontons revenue stream with future generations begins to unravel…leading to a toxic community which seems to end in quite a few “Uninstall and KYS worthless newb!!” comments on your profile picture, which just so happens to be the profile pic of hanabi only she is missing all her clothing . What sounded like a good future focused business plan for Moonton got complicated and the community has been paying the price via Toxicity. Sometimes I imagine the conversation between Moonton and the community(s) goes like this:
Circa 2022:
New Player: cool game, who’s the strongest? I’m gonna play that hero! Community: Have you seen attack on titan? New Player: I know of it, why? Community: Well it’s just that one hero requires lots of skill and practice, but when you’re good with her she is just like Mikasa! Moonton: Hey, right now we are having a new event called M-World and all the heroes with new skins just so happen to be coincidentally SUPER strong right now…we’ve got Ling, Wanwan, Yin…. New Player: Sweet I’ll check them out! Who should I start with? Community: They are all OP AF right now! But New Player they are hard to use, try someone easier to start. Wait…Moonton wtf are those eyes on yin’s M-world skin… New Player: Ok cool. Well Moonton who should I play? I’m kinda broke rn… Moonton: We have Eudora. Here she is free give her a go! Commmunty: Have fun hiding in a bush and being useless. Moonton: If you still want a new hero let me ask you a question… are you attracted to sexy people…yes? Well then check out all these sexy heroes! We’ve got over a hundred and counting! New Player: Dayum they be looking good! Community: Would. Mooton: Nice… you like that? Both of you? Well in that case…See that ugly cursed witch-like lady, well poof! she’s now a Disney princess! Looks good, right?! (Pats themselves on the back for the revamp) Community: Thanks, I guess, but didn’t we have Odette already? New Player: Hey this is great this hero is really easy, I’m gonna main Vex! New Player : (Joins Community) Moonton: Don’t worry Ladies, we’ve got you covered too! Check out Fredrinn! Community: Fred Daddy…is it hot in here?! Cause I’m sweating between my legs…. (fringe community): well it’s just another human hero, like don’t you ever make a non-human hero? I mean we just lost vex so… After some time… Moonton: Have you met Joy? She’s a Leonin! Totally not human! Community:She’s a bit OP, I mean cc immunity on a multiple dash based assassin. Screw it, if you can’t beat them, join them! Nothing can stop meeee now! Fringe Community: Would ;) Moonton: True she is a bit OP, well instead of cc immunity on the dashes now we put it on the ult soooooo problem fixed! Reddit Community: No cc immune on dash! She’s dead to me. RIP joy. The rest of MLBB: Are you kidding? She’s still perma-banned. Fringe Community: Hey check out this dirty pic of Joy…I mean I’m only 18 that’s pretty close, right? Mooton: Well we tried, ok how about this…what if we take off the training wheels and remove the cc immunity… Community: Ban rates drop… Reddit: I miss the old joy, new joy is worthless. Gamer Police: At least she is more balanced now. This game is shaping up! Fringe Community: I’ve spanked it enough, also isn’t Joy a leonin, we already have 2 others…not what we meant… Mootnon: Wait you want a non-human hero? One year later Here is Chip! He’s a hamster! Fringe Community: Too cute! No really, TOO cute. We want a fking Monster! Community: Thanks for giving me a new way to get trolled every time I take this portal. I’m done taking portals. Moonton: What if we give you a shield and some advantage when you come thru? Fringe Community: Where TF is that monster hero! Community: Typing…
To be continued….
You get the idea…it gets noisy with all these voices (some may be Furry Pedos best I can tell) wanting different things and Moonton wants ALL of their money. But you can’t make everyone happy… Personally, I thrive on the complexity of the game and the (minimal) reward of understanding how all of the many varibles all work in real time. But not everyone likes this, and it certainly doesn’t help new players who pick up the game. Too much complexity is overwhelming. I’ve noticed a strong trend toward simplification, I believe maybe it’s to help new players get into the game. Moonton wants everyone to feel like a legend, without actually needing to do the “work” that goes into being a good player. I consistently see players in my ranked matches who no business being in the rank they are currently at. They lack the fundamental understanding of the game to be at the highest rank in the game. Why? To get them hooked on the game and sell them more heroes they won’t use and skins they don’t need. If they lost, Moonton will throw them a bit game to rank them up and make them feel good. If they do bad, they’ll get paired with a “carry” who does the work for them. Every action Moonton makes seems to be aimed at giving crutches to players to make them “feel” good at the game while actually lacking having the skills necessary to be effective on the battlefield and earn the rank they are at. Everthing from introducing heroes like CiCi who remove the need for mechanical skill on the battlefield (not fully, but in general she is easier than most heroes to reliably hit s1), to joy and Nolan who removed the need to be aware of enemy skill cooldowns due to cc immunity/purfiy skills. To more consistent hero interactions (Guins s2, Tigs ult). To constant “balance” changes that really simply break a new set of heroes to sell upcoming skins and get new players buying different heroes. However this seems to conflict with why I play this game. I’d rather not have Moonton reward players with crutches and META changes in order to feel better at the game than they are, but instead actually focus on giving players more access to resources to rank up. Instead of breaking the game, they could offer instructionals at a specified price perhaps to give players information to actually becoming better MOBA gamers rather than a temporary crutch of a broken hero. Help players navigate the maze of information needed to get good. Cause it took me way too many Reddit posts and YouTube videos and guides to understand even the basics of the game. I was still playing like this was Call of Duty and chasing kills like a noob. I didn’t know any better, and didn’t have an easy way to learn that there was a better way. Nobody explained it to me fully, and every YouTube video just wanted me to watch them smash and get 25 kills with some bullshit secret build. This is NOT the way to making a better game, gaming experience or making a better community. It just builds tension between those who know what they are doing, and those who lack information on the flow of the game. In short, stop giving shortcuts to feeling good at the game, and start making players who understand the core tenets of the game and know how to leverage advantage. I don’t always want simplification of…heroes or hero interactions (Guins s2 reliability, Tig ult reliability) when it breaks a hero or creates too simple of an interaction with less counterplay. What I really want from Moonton is increased countermoves and counter-countermoves in the game! I want counterplay to heroes who have very few options to play against (insert newly released or “balanced” hero here) and I want more than just the answer to be “teamwork,” as let’s be honest the vast majority of the time I play solo as I don’t always have reliable friends available to queue. I play this game primarily because it has depth. And rewards those who invest their time into learning all aspects of the game. And of course teamwork. So make it so players can LEARN these things without scrubbing through useless and endless YouTube videos and Reddit posts where they find themselves watching Betosky do well with a hero and come away unsure if Betosky has ever lost a game. I want Moonton to continue down the path of increasing game diversity and counterplay options while maintaining a fair and balanced game. I want to be rewarded (with higher and more meaningful rank primarily, but also with more competitive and better matchmaking) as a solo queue gamer and have Moonton invest in creating a more positive and competitive gaming environment in which most, if not all, heroes are viable depending on circumstance. Because currently it feels as if we are all META slaves. Which actually does the inverse effect at higher ranks it seems, and winning is more a result of playing META and less a result of solid game understanding and good strategy, counterplay and mechanical follow through. Because as it stands the META gameplay creates a more stale, forced and simple game IMO. It just limits your options. Could be possible if Moonton embraced the game’s complexity and rewarded those who invest time in learning the game by giving us an easier way to learn it. I have more competitive games in classic thank I do in ranked. But I want a game with a more meaningful rank that says more than “I grinded x number of games” this season, or I know how to beat the bots in games that Moonton gives me to feel better after a loss (Fuck bot games I wanna beat REAL players). Rank should mean more than just grinding games because Moonton thinks “balance” means staying near a 50% WR in solo queue. I don’t wanna carry bad teammates, I wanna play with and against equally skilled players. Anyway, thanks my rant. All of this to say, what do you think? What do you love about MLBB and want to see Moonton water and grow so it flourishes?

2024.05.27 18:32 OlemGolem How To Play A Gnome

"Tonight tonight, my plans I make, tomorrow tomorrow, the baby I take. The queen will never win the game, for Rumpelstiltskin is my name!"
-Rumpelstiltskin, Children’s and Household Tales, Brother’s Grimm-
There are similarities between the Halfling and the Gnome, but to call them the same is like calling Bob Ross the same as Salvador Dali, there are quite some more differences than it might seem. Gnomes are hard to spot, good with their hands, and a bit plucky, but they show this in a different way than other Little Folk. Their craftiness and inherent talent for magic make them good Artificers and Wizards. Still, just slapping a class and human-centric values onto a Gnome will let you miss out on role-playing opportunities. Even if your setting notes says something different about Gnomes (or nothing at all) you can use this post as a default filler for anything that is missing.
Note What is written here is the most (stereo)typical version of the Gnome culture which is evaluated from all the editions of D&D and more. If you don’t want to play the typical Gnome portrayed here, feel free to try playing against type such as a Gnome who is dimwitted, lazy, and destructive. Every creature is relative to the setting you are playing in, ask your DM for any specifics when it comes to what you want to play, if there aren’t any, this How to Play can fill in the blanks.

Morphology

The average Gnome is a humanoid of about 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall with a large nose and curved yet pointed ears that match their spikey hair which come in all human colors but is usually light. Males are able to grow mustaches and beards, but they are often shaped into goatees and are kept trimmed and pointy. Their skin comes in any kind of usually dark complexion but doesn’t change regardless of how much (or little) exposure to sunlight they get.
Subraces differ largely from each other in appearance. More details on them are under the Subraces section.

Demeanor

The typical Gnome is work-driven, curious, and has a sly sense of humor. They like to prank each other. Especially with practical jokes and tricks with illusions. Ever curious, Gnomes don’t stop asking questions and looking for answers. They have an experimental mindset in such a way that a bad result is just as pleasantly surprising as a positive one.
Gnomes are explorers, crafters, diggers, tricksters, and researchers. Even though digging is not every Gnome’s forté, their love for gemstones and noble metals motivates them to dig deep. Most gem cutting and setting is done by these people as their eye for detail and precise fingers allow for exact measurements and delicate placements. Next to anything gem-related, they also make excellent whitesmiths. Noble metals are more malleable and are often crafted for small and detailed work.
Rudeness among these people is treated as a major fault. Even inter-gnomish conflicts are rare as they are taught to handle things with humor. But Gnomes who are fist-fighting with each other are often ostracized by the entire village until the conflict is resolved. If it isn’t, then they might get banished. Outsiders of Gnome civilization might feel a strange mix of closeness and distance from the Gnomes. They are friendly but reticent, and it can take years to really get to know them as they often fear the interference and plans from outsiders but refuse to turn that fear into paranoia. This makes them come across as furtive and reserved to strangers. But established friends will also get introduced and connected to the Gnome’s whole family.
Gnomes often befriend animals in the area. You will see them mostly accompanied with a badger, stoat, otter, raccoon, or wolverine.

Culture

Known as The Forgotten Folk, Gnomes prefer to live underground, not as deep as Dwarves do, but they are content with having a home underneath the surface level. Where they live underground depends on the type of Gnome. Forest Gnomes live in wooded areas, Rock Gnomes prefer more plain plots of land and rolling rocky hills, and the Deep Gnomes live deeper underground close to the levels of the Underdark. In any way, they want to keep their homes away from Humans and have ways to keep them hidden from uninvited guests. Those who are invited tend to find their homes anyway but all find them to be too claustrophobic to stay for too long.
These eager innovators value hard work, discovery, progress, experimentation, play, and large noses. The last part is almost a superstition. They believe that being born with an exceptionally large nose shows a talented Gnome with a promising future. Nose-measuring contests are a time-killing past time for these folks.
They are encouraged to search for a type of work until they find something that they like, but whatever they work on, they will do so eagerly and with full attention. Multi-disciplinary gnomes are common as they tend to experience a long-term job before jumping to new endeavors in their lifetime. Outside of the usual gnomish disciplines, they prove to be excellent engineers, consultants, and planners.
The gnomish natural calendar has plenty of days for festivals and nightly rituals, most of which are based on stars and the position of the moon. Rituals about an eclipse are the most important to them as that is a rare moment where great celestial bodies collide. When celebrating these festivals, plenty of food is provided for everyone around. Gnomish cuisine is plain and leaves no room for the imagination. Their beverages are a required taste for outsiders, but they are complimented by their ability to keep them cool in the summer using subterranean cellars.
Gnomish music works better with their invented instruments rather than their singing, but none can refrain from singing along when it starts. Most outsiders can’t help but wait until the song is over and the gnomes are tuckered out.
When a Gnome is born, they get multiple names. They start out with the family name and get a name from the father and from the mother. Then, they get a name from aunts and uncles each, the grandparents each, and then a nickname from the rest of the village they are from. A gnome chooses how they want to be called based on one of those names, usually their favorite one. As the gnomish language tends to be detailed and long, Gnomes speak quickly to get their thoughts across on time. But as names go, it doesn’t always translate well to the common tongue and would sound alien to other folk.

Aesthetics

Gnomes express themselves with close-fitting colorful and extravagant clothing with intricate patterns or striped breeches, but choose earth tones and deep leathers over bright colors. To match their fashion sense of pointy hair and big noses, they prefer pointy clothing such as pointy hats and shoes with pointed tips. This is contrasted with their love for gemstones and noble metals that they decorate themselves with. You might see a Gnome with at least some kind of finely wrought item such as sparkly and detailed jewelry, preferably of their favorite gemstone.
Their homes are placed underground, usually in an unassuming place such as under a tree or lake that has its elements integrated into the household. By doing so, they like to create indoor decorations that shows where their home is placed and prefer methods that allow them to see outside without being spotted inside. The more secluded Gnomes tend to live so much scattered around an area that they might not be aware of their neighbors ever living in the same area. A fire is not uncommon in gnomish households, most get uncomfortable without an evening blaze.

Battle

Gnomes prefer to stay out of any direct combat. Only the largest, doorway-blocking Gnomes are willing to fight directly with anyone who is trying to invade their home. The most common strategy for this folk is to use illusions, tricks of the light, darkness, and stealth to group against larger foes and hit them at their blind spots and use their bulk and clumsiness against them. They like to put large creatures down a peg by distracting them, tying anything that’s loose, and tripping them. Then they use illusions to either avoid being caught or scare creatures away. Most creatures give up after being pranked like this for too long.

Religion

Gnomes are not a tremendously devout folk and have no creation myth, their deities have ‘always been there’ in a world of constant change and equilibrium. Yet, their form of worship is done by telling stories as they are seen as examples to follow. Self awareness among the Gnomes is learned by listening to the godly tales of The Lords in The Golden Hills. This way, they see how they should- and should not behave like.
Note: The majority of this pantheon is predominantly male. Current sources describe some as female which contradicts visual descriptions from older editions. No source states that this pantheon is patriarchal or gender-fluid. For the sake of clarity, I will use pronouns that match the descriptions from the earliest edition that they are introduced in.

Baervan Wildwanderer

Baervan is the second-most popular member of the gnomish pantheon. Protector of forests, glades, and travelers. Baervan is the most popular member of the pantheon after his friend Garl. Even the Svirfneblin honor him as the ”Father of Fish and Fungus.” Baervan is also the patron of gnomish thieves and a mischief-maker who rivals Garl himself. He is pictured as a spry old gnome with nutbrown skin and a jaunty beard. With him is his friend and constant companion in his escapades is a giant raccoon named Chiktikka Fastpaws. She tends to get the duo in trouble with outrageous acts.

Baravar Cloakshadow

A deity that teaches magic in order to deceive, annoy, or avoid potential enemies. The Sly One may not the best thief, but his ability to create tricks, illusions, and traps are of top skill.

Bleredd

The deity of mines, smiths, and iron work in Oerth. Husband of Ulaa.

Callarduran Smoothhands

The master of stone, worshipped primarily by Svirfneblin who see him as an equal to Garl. It was Calladuran who taught Svirfneblin how to summon and befriend earth elementals. His appearance is that of a wiry Svirfneblin miner, indistinguishable from virtually any other Deep Gnome except for a golden ring with a star insignia he always wears.

Flandal Steelskin

With his skin of mithril steel, eyes like flaming coals, and beard of silver-blue. Flandal is the patron of gnomish smiths. Not just blacksmiths but also goldsmiths, silversmiths, and all other workers in metal. He is physically the strongest of the gnomish gods, and his uncanny ability to sniff of the veins of metal that thread through earth makes him a patron of miners.

Gaerdal Ironhand

A deeply serious deity who might only chuckle in private. The only gnome who could be considered stern and serious is a staunch defender as The Shield of the Golden Hills despite his small stature.

Garl Glittergold

The grinning patriarch of the pantheon who is most approachable to anyone and travels the world looking for mischief. This deity looks like a gold-skinned gnome with a glorious mustache and gemstone eyes that shift as a kaleidoscope from sapphire to emerald, to ruby. A jokester and prankster who is proud of his followers. His chief concerns are twofold: to see that gnomes cooperate and to remind them that life is sometimes hard, so he shows them to keep a sense of humor. He carries an intelligent two-headed axe, Arumdina, everywhere, she is more of a companion rather than a possession. Although he is a fighter, he would rather use trickery and use brute force as an absolute last resort.

Gelf Darkhearth

Said to be Garl’s dark brother and bitter rival. A grey-skinned dwarf with a black beard who takes obsessive delight in opposing everything his brother attempts. He isn’t evil per se, but feels the need to start entropy in his angry and sorrowful nature.

Nebelun

Known as The Meddler, Nebelun is a restless and fearless inventor who starts with wild ideas that usually result in dangerous mistakes.

Rill Cleverthrush

An absent-minded artisan, Rill is always busy in his workshop polishing a newly cut gem or putting the finishing touches on a living statue to be given to a worthy mortal. He is depicted as an elderly, bespectacled gnome holding a ruby that has a facet for each living gnome in the world.

Segojan Earthcaller

A nature deity whose province is the creatures who burrow through the earth; he taught the gnomes how to befriend moles, badgers, and other subterranean animals. He appears as a grey-skinned gnome clad in armor made from grass and roots, accompanied by an intelligent stone golem. Anything provided by the earth is his domain. Including produce to cook, protecting homes, and even burial rites.

Sheyanna Flaxenstrand

The pantheon’s matchmaker, a delicate blonde gnome princess with a smile that can melt Gelf’s icy heart. Sheyenna is said to be source of rivalry between Garl and Gelf as they try to woo her in many legends and yet she never commits to any brother. She often carries a golden torch that can spout a fountain of flame wherever she points it at.

Ulaa

The Stonewife, goddess of hills, mountains, and gemstones. Depicted as a dwarven woman with gnomish facial features.

Urdlen

Once a selfish and greedy Gnome, many stories tell of how Urdlen was sent to exile by Garl Glittergold. This transformed him into an elephantine blind naked mole with iron teeth and claws, also known as The Glutton. Destructive, jealous, and rampant, Urdlen is set as an example for all Gnomes of what not to be.

Alterations

A gnome (/noʊm/[1]) is a mythological creature and diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy, introduced by Paracelsus in the 16th century and widely adopted by authors including those of modern fantasy literature. Typically small humanoids who live underground, gnome characteristics are reinterpreted to suit various storytellers and artists.[2] Lawn ornaments crafted as gnomes were introduced during the 19th century, growing in popularity during the 20th century as garden gnomes.

Age, appearance, cultural differences, traits, and demeanor differ when it comes to subraces. These subraces are relative to certain settings and not all of these are re-made in each edition. There are a lot of varied details of each subrace that would be required reading from the sources if you need to know more. I’m merely giving them your attention so that you could search for them yourself and perhaps your DM could allow some unique flavor to the kind of Gnome you want to play.

Forest

More shy and reclusive, the Forest Gnomes prefer to live in unspoiled land. They are smaller than their cousins, averaging from 2 feet to 2 ½ and still have a stocky physique. The skin of these Gnomes are often of a greenish cast of tan rather like bark. Their eyes are often blue or brown and green is less often seen. Their hair is in shades of brown of black, only becoming gray or white with old age. They tend to wear their hair quite long for their height.
The Forgotten Folk of the woods are determined caretakers of their domains. They are viewed with friendship by the native animals and developed a limited language of signs and sounds with them. As they rarely eat animals, they also loathe traps. They are seen as trap saboteurs by outsiders.

Rock

Industrious visionaries with a nose larger than any human or dwarf’s could match. Despite their light frame, they can be as strong as the average human. The most common eye color among this type of gnome is blue, yellow and brown are quite a rare sight. Their skin comes in a variety of tan shades and can go to nearly black. Next to the hair colors known by humans, they most often show shades of gray to stark white.
Rock Gnomes are the most common found by other folk, but that doesn’t make them the norm. They are more willing to craft and experiment but are not keen on the continuous hard labor of digging and smelting. Their detail work and gem-setting is where they feel more at home.

TinkeMinoi

Similar to Rock Gnomes in appearance, the Minoi are native to Krynn and are the most wildly innovative creatures in the known world. Their inventions are plentiful but usually go awry when they work on the finishing touches, which might never get to that stage.
Gnomes tend to look for gem stones, but the Tinker Gnome sees more value in coal, also known as The Father of Steam. The inventions they make get to a level of danger equal to the number of moving parts it needs to have.

Deep/Svirfneblin

More dour and serious than their kin, the Deep Gnomes live close to the dwellings of the Underdark where they eagerly dig for jewels. Their hairless skin is comes in varying colors of dark rock. Only the females have hair on their heads, usually in a stone gray color. Their clothing is less ostentatious as their other kin as they can blend in with their surroundings easier when standing still.
Tenacious at survival and ore-digging, the Deep Gnomes endure the hostile Underdark solely to get more gems out of the earth. Particularly rubies which they refuse to use just for pretty display but for sacred objects with tremendous value. This eagerness for digging often makes them a pest to other species of the sunless world.

2024.05.27 16:30 Natural_Job_5877 Benjamin Netanyahu killed my family.

You do not know me, but I never forgot you.
I watched my family die from airstrikes ordered by you, Hamas was not there, what were you bombing? civilians, women and children? No terrorists were hiding in my house, it was me my dad my mom my brothers and sisters, uncles and cousins, relatives of family and beyond, all curled up in a tight spaced shelter, to survive your attacks, unfortunately not everyone came out, some remind under the rubble and some were lucky enough to get another chance at life, get an education and study, to become smarter and make a man of myself one day, I pushed myself hard to learn about cultures, about people, about ethics, about morals, about humanity, about religion and a lot more things that you lack as a human being, how could you? Your cowardly war on civilians in Lebanon has made me stronger, taught me a lot, motivated me to move forward, to never become a monster like you.
You are responsible for the death of your own people, save what dignity you have left and step down, let the real men in the Israeli government take over and let Israel flourish, this war would have ended and lives could have been saved, you lost the war in 2006, to men of determination and goals, with no fear of result as long as goals are achieved. I promise you if you step down, take your supporters with you, go retire in NY with your son, let those who truly want what’s best for Israel step up and take charge.
Maybe the millions of children women and innocents people you killed over your career will never forgive you, but I do, I was given the chance to survive your brutal attack. What did a family of what was 5 before you bombed them had anything to do with what you have issues with? The people of Israel need to wake up and see that the end of this madness is in their hands, it’s not up to a mad man to decide their fate, future, their economy and their diplomacy.
Benjamin, you tried to kill me and failed and I’m here to tell you that karma has caught up with you, I prayed for your fall ever since that day, I never wished you harm, not now not ever, but destroying your career was all I prayed for. I don’t pray often, but I knew at a young age that if god wants to answer my prayers I can’t only ask for revenge, I had to learn how to be a human being and have empathy, I didn’t have to be religious or an extremist, I simply knew that if I wanted god on my side that I need to grow up to be a good man, a wise one. I prayed for the people of Israel to one day realize that you are not what you claim to be, the audacity, having lawyers defending you in an International Court as being a man of morals? How did you sleep at night all those years?
One time as I was driving, a bird flew low and hit my bumper, I didn’t go up in the air and hit it, it flew low and hit my car, I had no control over that, I didn’t cause it, I had no part in its fate but I still pulled over, grabbed a straw from my glovebox and stuck it down its throat trying to resuscitate it, people behind me called me names, one even said “hey moron, it’s just a bird” I didn’t give up, I tried and I failed and like a human being I buried it on the side. I didn’t sleep well if you care to know, it bothered me, sure it’s just a bird but it used to exist, it used to breath, it used to have a heart beat, it had a purpose and a reason, it hit my car and died, but it was still hard on me.
Look at the world, look at the diversity you have created, look at what the world thinks of Israel, you are a bully, the world accuses you of an atrocity and you respond back like a toddler, that the world hates Israel and the world have turned antisemitic, no, no they haven’t and no they do not hate Israeli, they hate what you are doing, I mean I would too. Imagine being the man of a very powerful country and your people trusted you with their lives, with their future, with their existence and you turn around and ruin everything they trusted you with, how do you expect them to feel? This has never been said better but “put yourself in their shoes”.
You messed up and it’s time to admit it, you failed your people and you failed your country, you turned the world against you, against your people. The government of Israel needs to use the Israeli Constituent Assembly and impeach him, as we do in the United States, when we feel like our president has failed us we don’t fall, we get him out and get someone who can run the country.
You have the whole world in shamble, people are dying by the day, you have news channels occupied with coverage, you turned nations against each other, you are risking the lives of more innocent people, you had no plans for any of the attacks, I doubt you thought this through, your people deserve to live safely and happily, you are risking their lives, you are turning the world against them, and all of this for what? what do you have to benefit from this? Is this how you plan on living the rest of your old age? Killing people? Under the disguise that you are trying to achieve what’s in their best interests? How does anyone believe you? I watched videos of you when you attacked Lebanon and lost miserably to a group you call terrorists, you justified your attacks on grounds of self defense, the same justification you used when you killed my innocent family.
It’s time for the world to see that we don’t need international courts to see what’s wrong, we don’t need protests to hear the voices of the people, we don’t need destroyed economies, no one had to boycott to deliver a message, how is this taking world leaders, lawyers, politicians, countries, nations and 250 days today for them to see that this can be resolved and peace will be back to how it was. Those who protest do not hate Israel or its people, rather 1 man, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The world is split apart and it’s time to send a message to the people, to humanity, to men and women of honor, of integrity of faith of beliefs and of values that this needs to stop, no more people need to die, 1 man can put an end to this.
I have 3 children whom I have loved protected and shielded from what’s going on but you can’t, it’s not something you just live your life as if it doesn’t exist! They see me watch news and they pick it up, why does my 6 year old have to ever ask me how fair is it that he can eat but not all those people in Palestine? How do you answer that? How do you tell your children that the world is dying because of 1 man. Salvage what’s left of your self as a man and do not go down in history books as evil, your children don’t deserve this, your family and your people, let them say you were a good man who fought for his country, for his people, not a man who was responsible for the death of thousands of people, you know the title we give to a man like you here in America? I’ll give you a hint, starts with serial and ends with killer. When the people that have so much faith in you start protesting you and even going as far as making a clearer point by doing it at your place of residence should be a sign that maybe yes I did fail my country, I did fail my people and I did fail the world.
I have heard enough of the world constantly asking if you “condemn Hamas” and that has always been your argument and I won’t stand on any killing of innocent humans let alone toddlers women and babies, but you have an option, you can end this, I’m not saying forgive Hamas for their crimes against humanity the way you for changing the course of my life, literally, but look at it this way, as it seems the whole world has judged you already, this is your chance to change your life, to change your legacy to change the opinion of the world about you, if you truly don’t care about what 8.1 billion people think of you, the people of Israel don’t deserve you.
This is not about me rather a plea to you as someone who has survived your attempt to end my existence, a child who had to live through misery pain and agony to put an end to this. I don’t know about you, but I lived a life knowing for every action i took I will have to answer to someone, no matter your religion, you will face your maker, you will face your victims, can you face all those children that you killed? The mothers that lost their lives? All this pain you have caused? You turned an army into something they don’t believe in anymore, seek forgiveness and come to your senses, you are 74 years old, life is very short and we take it for granted.
To you and the world I’m a no body, and I don’t matter, just another soul on earth, a man of no power, no wealth and no fame but I had a family and to them I was the most powerful child, I can take anything on not knowing they made it possible, my wealth was my love towards them and having them in my life and the way they talked about what an amazing child I was to others, I felt famous but one day they were gone, and I had to accept my fate and become the man they cemented in my heart as a child, to never hate, to never harm and to never hurt and to always forgive. I couldn’t understand as a child how i could forgive someone responsible for the death of the only people that made me feel worthy and that I mattered. It was impossible, I had no ill will towards you or towards your family, but I hated you, I blamed you for every black day I lived through, I didn’t destroy my life then blame my childhood trauma, that’s not what I was raised to do, I was taught to take responsibility for my actions, just because I walked streets covered in bodies and smelled like death did not mean I get to go do things against my beliefs, my ethics my upbringing and put the blame on a point in my life, so one day I decided to stop blaming you, it wasn’t easy but achievable, and worked towards it, I achieved it then decided to take the journey to forgiving you, something I learned from my great religion, to love and to forgive, it wasn’t easy but I remembered a verse from the Quran that my step mother that raised me had taught me growing up, it goes وعسى أن تكرهوا شيئا وهو خير لكم and it translates to Perhaps you hate something and it is good for you. I applied this exact verse to you and decided to forgive you, maybe, just maybe god has plans, not forgiving you for the war, and I have no right to without the voices of all those that died, but I moved on and came to peace with you and convinced my brain to forget that you existed and forced my brain to stop playing the memories of what we went through, the heinous crimes you committed against my family, the fear you put into children like me. I erased you from my memory and forgot that you existed and moved on with life just like every other human does to live out the cycle of life. I went to school, I got a good education, I earned respectful money from hard work, I met a beautiful women and we fell in love and have been happily married for 12 years, we had our first beautiful baby boy, and the next year our second beautiful baby boy joined us then our youngest who is 2 years old today, we had the perfect happy American life, I work a 9-5 job, wife in school children getting an education, your average guy shopping at Walmart, had a decent credit score, celebrated 4th of July, not a Christian but gave my boys the right to understand every religion and not to hate disrespect or judge any other religion just because their beliefs do not match with theirs, we were raised to have friends of all faiths, race, beliefs, language and as small as it gets you had to respect it, we put up a Christmas tree to celebrate Christmas and my children believe in Santa Clause, I pay bills and try to go on trips to spend as much time with my children as possible, something I took for granted, I thought family will last, you proved me wrong at a real young age, but yes I was your average family man who loves his life in all, remember that this is how you changed 1 child’s life, do you see how ethically wrong that this is exactly how you are changing the lives of 610,00 children or what’s left of that? this is only the children of Palestine.
My life was as normal as any hard working American can attest to, in fact I was doing the most American thing you can do in a great country, having a barbecue in my 3 bedroom home that I proudly work hard for, we have a little back yard where my children get the chance to enjoy the luxury of food, and we have the normal family brunch conversation about not wasting food and to eat your vegetable, I usually check my phone for messages from work, the job is what is making the lives of my wife and children easy, you respect that, you do it with pride, you push yourself to deliver the most and be good at what you do, I come across the article about the heinous attack on the lives of civilians during the event. I didn’t know who did it, or why was it done but gradually pieces fell in place and I made sense of the article, I prayed for the victims and prayed justice be served for everyone involved. The next day I get another article because I signed up for updates on this heinous attack, and I see your picture. For the second time, you instantly changed ny life, and I always rebelled against the saying that “life can change in a blink of an eye”, I’d like to disagree with whom ever put it together, they must not have had their life flipped upside down and change them from the strong man that it took 39 years to build to the child that they once were. I can’t tell you at all what happened, one time I was this happy man flipping hot dogs on the grill, an American dad, a proud dad, a strong dad, a dad who made sure he was there when all his 3 boys were born, I bandaged the wound on my sons knee when he scraped it falling off his bike trying it for the first time to becoming this really sad man, I felt foggy, I felt confused, I felt like my mind is blocking you but something is pushing you through, felt like I don’t want to remember because it doesn’t feel like a good memory yet still wanted to remember, I knew who you are, but as I grew older I made myself forget you exist, I forgot your name and my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to google your picture and sure enough things got clearer and you were revived back into my memory that I have spent decades trying to figure out a way to bury it. I wasn’t angry, in fact I didn’t think much of you rather of what you have done, the people you were responsible for their deaths, I started feeling this aching pain in my heart, it got worse, my wife is a medical student and was concerned and tried to have me admitted for monitoring but I refused, I could be very stubborn when it comes to Hospitals and Drs. The heart ache was still there but dulled up a little and I became very sad, so sad my wife would walk in the middle of the night to bed after studying hard for her degree and would find me crying, hysterically, and I didn’t know why, I still don’t know why, I became very depressed and started to shift from what I have been holding onto my whole life, I felt betrayed, I felt stabbed, I became the worthless child that I was to the world, I assumed if I forgive you for what you had done to my family and work hard my whole life on forgetting who you are and what you have done that I’m safe from ever having to relive my past. My boys that I told you how much I love and adore and have supported provided encouraged motivated inspired and pushed to achieve their best, my joy and pride have become a symbol of what I was, they are not living there neither nowhere close to what the children of Palestine are going through but are starting to feel as if I’m drifting away, and in reality I am, I’m becoming paranoid, during the war I remember 3 soldiers barging through our front door of my parents house in south Lebanon and they loaded us up in their military suvs and drove off, blindfolded, we were taken to a weird and oddly isolated house measuring at around 8 feet in width to no more than 12 feet long, more like a room. they sat us all on the ground and one of them spoke broken Arabic and said no one move, we will be back. Not long after, soldiers from the Lebanese Army and Red Cross entered the house and escorted us to their waiting vehicle while getting attacked by missiles. None of us uttered a word when the Israeli soldiers broke in we were all taken by surprise that no one even reacted, we stayed still and accepted our fate, that our lives will forever be changed. I remember starving, I remember we cried for food, we had nothing, we didn’t even have a house let alone food, we were all starving that we started eating pita bread broken up into small size pieces and put into a cup of water, when you do that the bread sags and becomes bigger making you feel full from eating bread and water, in now times it’s mostly known as “cereal”.
My wife is noticing changes in my mood and general health, and I brush it off to being the cause of stress at work, or bills, I refuse to admit to her that her strong man, the foundation of a big strong family, who held them together through hard times was now once again broken, by the same man that broke him when he was just a child.
I plead with you, for humanity’s sake and the sake of Israel and its people and those children taken away for fighting for a country you love sincerely to please end this war. I will risk my own life to be a part of making peace. You are at an old age, you are fighting for a cause that you will not be around to see, we all have a time where we leave earth, is what you are doing worth the questions that you have to answer to? I’m no religious man but I have basic understanding that we can’t just live life doing wrong and expect to be laid to rest “peacefully”. I pray the little flame of hope, of humanity, of love and of peace in you will ignite and change the course of this war, where Israel is not portrayed as an evil nation, bring peace back to your country, Show the parents of the hostages that you care, don’t ask for their votes and support to gain something then turn your back on them when they need your support, you will not have many people behind you.
My anger towards you at that time was because you hurt my family, what can someone do to you to hold so much hatred and anger towards a whole population?
End the war, exchange hostages, communicate with the ICJ, come to agreements, both Israel and Palestine have fair amounts of supporters, use that as an advantage to better the quality of life in Israel and Palestine, establish trade and investment, create diplomatic ties, be an ally to each other, end this crisis and disaster, humans from both sides do not deserve to die, they all deserve a chance at life, Israelis have the right to live peacefully. Palestinians have the right to live peacefully.
You killed my family and I forgive you, the families of the +30k you have killed up to date will not.

2024.05.27 09:03 DevelopmentNervous35 Nezarec from Checkpoint, High score. And how the team I ran with was able to pull it off.

This may be some common knowledge to some. But wasn't common knowledge to the team, nor I, when we were doing week 4 of pantheon. And when we had went searching for information. There didn't seem to be any good answers that were easy to find for the question we had.
Yes, it is possible to get high score through a checkpoint. Is it insanely easy or free? No, not at all. The reason we even were insisted on doing the checkpoint specifically, was none of us had wanted to do Riven again. (enough sanity was lost that day) The single clear had taken us upwards of eight hours... Why? Because we went into with basically zero knowledge on how to do the encounter legit. The few who had, hadn't done the encounter legit for years up until this point. But, with enough experimenting and practice we were able to get it down pretty consistently, but kept getting screwed over by the weirdness of how Nezarec damage phases are.
The main question we had? How many points are needed for high score? The answer to this? I am still not exactly sure. But it seems that you will probably need at least 450k points. (unchecked by us at least) And honestly feel like its better to shoot for higher just incase. As an example we had been able to get high score with just over 500k since we eventually got it down to a science.
Firstly: We were able to get within time, and got what seemed to be 338250 points. Unsure if this is consistent, but we had 1:31 left on our timer after doing a two phase. So pretty sure most will need timer for getting within high score if you are coming from the checkpoint.
Secondly: Medals, and ad clear. One of our team had made this good observation and we instantly noticed a huge difference once we had one person swap to a weapon that would more likely get them. In our case it was one person (which happened to be me) using Sunshot, who focused trying to get many multi-kills and similar with it. (in this case on the more open left side to help the runner not get killed as easily) The difference was huge, a good 50-70k between the Sunshot user and the other ad clearers.
Thirdly: For our high score clear we were able to end with 158,120 points solely through ad clear and making sure the high priority targets were killed. We had some disorientating grenade launchers for general room control and stunning tormentors. But generally the field shortly before a damage phase started was basically clear. The last group of ads that spawn in in the middle are pretty easy for Sunshot to chain kill all of them with just a few shots.
Additionally some math: Nezarec himself, counts for 7,500 points. Which had caused our 158,120 points to 170,120 points. Which as we were able to get time we we had the 338,250 points added to it. Thus hitting the 508,370 points, which was our final score, and was a high score at that. Can see the visuals in game of the points here. https://imgur.com/a/BVvllDq
More below that isn't as important, though goes into how we did things:
We had three people ad clear in total, though the two others had also additional jobs to do. Such as killing the shielded Colossus on the left and right or making refuge.
Additionally the one of us that was in charge taking Nezarec's aggression, was also killing the "boss" Colossus in the middle. Which they were either able to do it with the shot of Nighthawk Golden Gun or a few shots of their heavy weapon (Sleeper Simulate) for the prep for second damage phase. Which as everyone who was on ad clear, was at least running some orb generation, they were usually able to get it back their super quick enough for the first damage phase.
Going back to Sunshot quickly, will it work for week 5? At this moment unsure myself since I don't know the surges. But, feel like if it doesn't for whatever Trinity Ghoul or Graviton lance may be the plays instead depending on the surges. Seeing how they both also have insane ad clear potential. Just will not have the same synergy with Solar's ability to give an increased restoration time with solar weapons.
For actual suggested damage weapons and such? I'd say consult the guide makers and similar here or on Youtube for the next week. Though for our week 4, we had ran four Sleeper Simulant, one Briar's Contempt (with Reconstruction and Focused Fury) and most importantly for our setup, a Divinity (shoutouts to our one warlock btw). For supers we ran five nighthawk golden runs and a well. With this setup we were usually able to two phase.
Though, because of this ammo economy was rough at times. Aeon Swift helped a bit (was armor'd swapped quickly), and the helmet heavy ammo findesharing mods were once again godsends. But there was easily some RNG involved with it, along with ammo scrambles in-between first damage phase and second ad clearing phase.

2024.05.27 06:32 s13g3 Comfortable IWB or other CC holsters for thin people?

BLUF - hoping to get some recommendations on non-OWB CC holster options for a subcompact 1911 for someone 6'1" 155 lbs.
I've been carrying in a CQC Serpa with a paddle for years. There's things to love - especially the retention mechanism, which I am rather enamored with, and things that are less than ideal. As an OWB holster, it isn't always the easiest thing to conceal in summer clothing and it isn't always the most comfortable thing. I just got a new subcompact 1911 that fits in the same holster, but it's less than ideal and Blackhawk doesn't make one for subcompact 1911's. I'd like to move to something inside the waistband, but I'm torn on what to do, and can't select a holster.
I have to dress very purposefully to carry with the Serpa, and it still prints more than I'd like, especially during the summers where I live, where I'd look really odd wearing shirts long enough to always cover the holster if I have to bend over... and I've got kids, so that happens a lot.
I generally prefer carrying at my 3 o'clock, but bony as my hips are, doing that IWB isn't an option - I don't think? My next preference is about 4:30. But not only do I want to be able to sit comfortably in a restaurant or movie theater, but I also carry on my person while driving, religiously. I drive the better part of an hour or more each way on a regular basis, and take long trips a few times a year, and would really rather not have to change holsters just to get out of the car.
I'm not unwilling to consider appendix-carry, but it makes me uncomfortable. I've never had a ND, and hope to keep it that way, but...
A shoulder holster isn't out of the question either, but again, I'm not a big person, and it gets hot where I live. Light-weight clothing is the order of the day about 8 months out of the year, and that doesn't generally include under-shirts, which I get the impression such a setup kind of requires.
A sweat-shield, and some facility for an extra mag or two, plus light and/or knife is a bonus.
I know a custom holster maker I want to collaborate with, but he won't be available for several months while he moves, and I need something that I can live with in the meantime.

2024.05.26 23:45 Repulsive-Badger-760 Humans are not natural

The original humans were seeded on the death World Terror in the Sol system around 500k years ago by the now extinct Tolepsuo.
They intended to create an army of super warriors they could use to help them in the galactic war against the Sardiucin.
They were destroyed before they could put their plans into action. But due to the shielding they placed on the planet no-one know of its existence until they (the humans) left their planet of their own accord recently.
Their bodies are completely unnatural. They can't even live on their own home world without technology. A naked human would die of exposure in less than 24hr on most of their planes' surface.
They are built to use ranged weapons with extreme effectiveness, hands designed to be the ultimate in utility, they heal from crazy injuries super quick and have clotting blood to stem bleeding. Their hairless, unarmoured and sensitive bodies are perfect for using power armour. The real kicker is that they were designed to use combat drugs to super enhance their abilitys, they can hack their system with drugs to allow them to perform ridiculous feats for an extended period.
We are in big trouble if they find out we destroyed their makers.

2024.05.26 19:10 Knight-in-Gale My first ever Dark Aether experience. WOW! Holy cow.

Went into the game with the goal of finishing my FJX Horus' & the Renetti's gold emblem-calling card.
Start of match, someone mentioned they'll be doing DA if anyone want to join. I paused and thought, "naaa, I'm not good enough for that stuff," so I continued on with my gun goal.
But, in the back of my mind, I'll try to gear up to see if I can join that group.
So did T2 contracts and got enough to pap3 my Horus. I'm stoked then started working on getting as many perks as I can.
Fast forward- 2 min til storm, I see on the map that DA group are gathering by the DA Portal, so I finished my armory contract and counted how many blue dots by the portal: 5 players. Oh, perfect. I'll ask and see if I can join, but didn't get my hopes up.
To my surprise, one person said, "if you can get here."
"omw," i replied.
Oh, man. you have no idea how fast I drove there from that ruined building by football arena to DA portal. I think my car was down to it's last breath. you sneeze on it and it'll blow up.
I get there and requested to join group.
HANDS SHAKING....
The whole time I waited for that team request, I was thinking "please, please, please accept. please, please. I promise I'll do my best not to mess up and make a fool out of myself."
WOOOHOOO! Got in! double checked my gears again to see what I'm missing- 4 self revives.
I'm pretending to stand tall among these legends waiting for the portal queue to pop up...
But, in my head, I'm going like this.....
"Oh, NOOOOOO! NEED MORE SELF-REVIVES. I'm going to die in there. Oh, GAWD! I have no tombstone perk. that's it! game over. Okay, okay, I'm here for the experience. If I die, the experience is important. FUCK! don't embarrass yourself. CALM DA FUCK DOWN. just go where they're going. you watched Doughnuts videos and the other videos of this place repeatedly but you're too chicken shit to do it solo."
__________________________________________ DARK AETHER_____________________________________
FINALLY INSIDE DA.
Once in, All I see are 5 other people with scorchers flying to the right. I say to myself- "OH, FUCK!"
I look straight ahead, a big fucking Abomination and everyone is gone. FUCKING GONE! Heading to the first contract.
So I bolt as fast as I can to join the group, nope. My slow ass is being pinched on my butt cheeks. I'm gonna die before the first contract even begins.
Then I hear that teddy bear up on top of the castle wall. Wait a minute. is there someone who's going to grab that?
So I go on voice chat and asks if someone with a scorcher can grab that contract for the escort mission?
NO DICE. I'm the closest one to it. NO Fucking clue how to get up there from where I'm at cuz the DA guide videos only shows the "fastest" way to get up there from the other side.
Oh, man. I am so fucked. I'm going to die! swapped to my Renetti- run speed should be fast now. NOPE! slow as hell. still getting pinched in da butt.
Dropped my renetti and fisted my way up there. grabbed the contract and parachuted towards the group.
Landed around a Wearhouse corner WHERE THERE WERE 2 FUCKING ABOMINATIONS. TWO! What the fucking hell!?!
I looked at the team and they're just there by the vehicle chugging along its designated path. I tried to run but went down quick from those 2 huge bitches.
0.00001 seconds later, INSTANTLY REVIVED! Oh, thank gawd! I fucking bolted. I bolted towards the group.
I tried to shoot a zombie but it gets obliterated by scorchers. just scorchers everywhere. I am still seeing red right now as I typed this.
Craziness. Everywhere. So many mobs and Abominations. I try to hop on the vehicle but I fall off.
Hmm... too many people? Okay, try not to embarrass yourself. Pretend you're just like them. SMH
Escort mission done! woohoo!
Everyone is gathered by the reward portal. People dropping schematics one after another. so many schematics. I grab the ones I don't have- WHICH IS EVERY SCHEMATICS KNOWN TO MAN.
Then the whole group runs inside the castle to the outlast location.
Uhhhhh, guys? Is anyone going to get the contract?
NOPE.
Sigh, I run out and run towards the bus. Jumps down to it and I see zombies and Disciple around it. Fuck me. Why me!?!?! They all have sorchers.
grabbed the teddy bear and just BOLTED! Fucking bolted towards that fkn rope thingy.
THANK GOODNESS FOR THOSE YOUTUBE GUIDE VIDEOS.
again, the contract went by super easy cuz it was just scorchers everywhere and dogs biting every zombies.
Reward portal. People dropping more schematics and dog bones and this dude dropped 2 of those yellow regen shield cases. I was like... "are you serious?" He just runs and scorched out. I grabbed both but I had to shuffle my inventory and drop stuff.
TOO MANY STUFF I NEED. Okay, I need to get rid of 2 self revive. I know I need the rest. LMAO.
Finally got the schematics I need so far and bunch of stuff that I never even touched before.
so stoke and smiling from ear to ear.
I apologize to team cuz I thought they were waiting for me so they can start the next contract.
YEP! THEY DEFINITELY WERE WAITING ...... FOR ME TO GRAB THE CONTRACT! FUCK! are you fucking kidding me!?!?!
My mind just went numb and went to the roof and bitched my way to the teddy bear and climbed up the rope.
But, before I can get to the rope, the contract was already done. I just shook my head and said, "Thank you."
Reward portal was more stuff. I dropped the rest of my self-revives and kazimirs that I never got to use. Tools and Tools and Bones and 1 of each schematics and aether knives. I had to drop 1 dog bone and crystals and elder sigils cuz I was so full.
Thank you random players for my very first DA experience. YOU GUYS REALLY MADE ME WORK FOR IT!
And thank you MWZ youtube guide makers for those videos. You really made it somewhat easier cuz I was stressed out the whole time.

Jake’s POV
“Thank you for agreeing to this, Familiar Sentinel.” A Neame General named Trygve said.
“It’s my pleasure. Besides, you’re helping me out too. Oh, and you can just call me Jake.” We were going to a training hall in the castle. General Trygve asked me to assist in training the Royal Mages. He’d heard of how strong my magic was, and wanted his soldiers to get experience fighting humans, just in case of another Harbinger. I agreed on the condition that I was allowed to continue my runecraft while in the royal capital. Since I will be working with Sela-Car soon, I will need that Rune-Maker’s permit anyway, and this was a good excuse to cut through some red tape; especially since it would be a lot harder to get one outside the army.
“Here we are,” General Trygve. He’d been perched on my head, an apparently favorite spot for Neame to choose for some reason, as I walked into a large outdoor area. There was a court with a floor made of easily two dozen different materials. Some spots were stone, dirt, vines, metal, water, grass, wood, and some stuff I couldn’t place. Surrounding the court were metal beams, with fifteen Neame of various sizes, colors, and heights perched in a few groups of five.
“Squads, listen up!” General Trygve loudly shouted from atop my head. “This is Sentinel. He is a Viking.” There were some murmurs from the squads, and more than a few icy stares. “Not only is he a guest of the Queen, and has generously agreed to help train you all today, but he is also a soldier in her Majesty’s army. He will be treated as an equal. He will not be ridiculed for purging those Court Mage traitors. You will give him the respect he deserves, or you will get your tail feathers plucked in this match. Mountain Squad, you are first!”
(Could’ve done without the Court Mages remark, but alright… Wait, traitors?) I thought, just as General Trygve left my head, and five Neame landed on different terrains around the court.
“Sentinel, please choose your preferred terrain.” The General said, and landed on a metal beam nearby.
“I don’t really have one.” I said.
“An all arounder? Good. That means better training. Stand anywhere then. The match starts on my signal.” The rules had been explained to me before I’d even agreed to do this, so I knew what to expect. And I’d already summoned all my gear, so I was fully armed and armored.
“Okay. Wait, what’s the signal?”
“BEGIN!”
“Was that the signal?!” I shouted, and pulled my shield up just in time for a massive spike of ice to slam into it and shatter. “FRICK!” Without much time to think, four more attacks slammed into my shield, armor, and legs. As quickly as I could manage, I cast my magnet shield spell, just in time to catch and trap another entire round of attacks. Whispers came from the sidelines, but I was too distracted to pay attention to them. With a few seconds to breathe, I cast fireballs. The purple flames formed in the air, and launched at their targets without hitting a single one. Each of them spread their wings, and took to the skies. Like bees they zipped around, some too fast for me to even keep track of. All the while more and more attacks pelted the magnet shield, but none made it through. I found out in an experiment that launching a fireball from inside the shield ended with me surrounded by plasma, and getting bad burns in the resulting uncontrollable inferno, so I made sure to create my attacks outside my spell.
“How is he doing that?” One of the Neame flying around me at mock ridiculous asked. “Nothing is getting to him.”
“Ground level.” Another shouted.
“I tried. But nothing happened.”
“Did he even notice?”
“I did not!” I shouted, mockingly. Then cast fireball again, but this time I did it with a plan. Since I clearly wasn’t going to be able to hit them with singular attacks, I would just have to attack the whole area instead, and hope the shield, my armor, and my actual physical shield, could protect me.
“We got a funny one here, Capt… does anyone else feel a whole lot of mana suddenly?” One of them shouted.
(Oh yeah, I forgot they could sense mana.) I thought, as I filled the whole area with a cloud of my Inversion mana. Odens taught me this game when he was alive. He called it ‘Display Dominate.’ It rushed out of me like a rolling fog cloud in the wind.
“I lost sight of him!”
“Up!” Another shouted, but it was too late. I used that mana to cast a wind spell that created a massive downdraft. After hearing five meaty impacts, someone on the sidelines called for a healer. Once the dust settled, I noticed I was surrounded by five injured Neame. Two unconscious, one with a broken wing, and two moaning from injuries I couldn’t see.
“I may have overdone it.” I whispered, shocked that a little wind was so effective.
“Nonsense. They underestimated you, and paid the price.” General Trygve said, suddenly beside me as if he’d just appeared out of thin air. I jumped slightly from surprise.
“Yeah, but I didn’t mean to hurt them so much.” I said, feeling guilty as one of the Neame’s wings popped back into place with a crackling, crunching noise and a loud scream.
“You may not have noticed, seeing as how slow you were moving behind that barrier spell, but they were casting powerful magic at you. If you had been hit by any of them, you would not be in much better shape. This may be training, but we train for real combat. Besides, Odinthian breaks his wing every time. Is that right Odinthinan?”
“Y-yes General Trygve sir.” One of the Neame, the one who’d screamed a few second earlier, replied with a groan.
“He is a good soldier. Has a bad habit of landing wings first, but we think we can beat that out of him before he gets put into active rotation for Queen Ompera’s private guard.”
“General Trygve…” I said, uneasy.
“Yes?”
“You are a very frightening Neame.”
“Yes.” Odinthinan groaned.
“Desert Squad, you are next!”
As they flew up, I heard a bit of their conversation. “That round was so long, but they barely did anything to him.”
“After the first few attacks, nothing landed. Did you see what he did?”
“No, but I felt several massive waves of some really weird mana, one of which never left him.”
“Enough squawking, BEGIN!” The General said, and I was immediately slammed in the back by a whip made of vines. It bounced off Jericho, but still pushed me a bit. I felt something hit my knee, making it bend in the wrong direction, a split second before my magnet shield went back up.
“AHHH!” I yelled.
“Got him!” One of the Neame said, and landed on the ground. By then, the healing runes in Jericho were almost done fixing my knee, so I cast a wind spell, and knocked some of his feathers off.
“Warned you.” General Trygve said simply from the sidelines.
“Healing-Magic!” One of the Neame called out. I started to cast the down draft spell again, but just as I was getting ready, they all dived down to the ground and landed.
“You won’t catch us with that trick.”
(Fine.) I thought, and cast another spell instead. Slowly, I began to cover the entire court in a thin layer of water. While I did that, the Neame went back to attacking me from all angels while making me dizzy by zipping around. Once that was done, and the ground was coated, I got ready to cast a spell. Just like before, they all quickly dove and landed.
“He only had one trick- AHHH!” They all cried out sharply and clenched up as a small bolt of lightning hit the wet ground.
“Healers!” Someone shouted, and once again, a swarm of Neame crowded the court, tending to the injured.
One of them flew up to me. “How is your limb? It broke, yes?”
“It’s fine. My armor healed it. Thanks though.” I said. The Neame nodded, and flew to one of the others.
This time, I saw the General fly up to me, and we talked while the others were being treated. “Good thinking. They were too focused on attacking, and missed the subtle spell with the water. Though, I am not sure if I can blame them too harshly, I almost missed it too. Good work.”
“Oh, thank you, sir.” I said, panting. After two rounds of using the magnet shield, I was almost tapped out. It may have only been less than seven minutes since we started, but that spell uses a lot of mana. “I’m just happy it didn’t explode in my face… again.”
“Right, I was told about that training accident when you were in basic training. Half a year ago now, yes?”
“More like a year.”
“Fourteen months ago.” He said.
“So, a little more than a year.” I said.
“How many months are in Viking years?”
“Not a Viking. They’re an extinct culture, not the name of our species. Twelve.”
“Twelve?”
“How many do Neame years have?”
“Twenty-three.” He said, to my shock.
(Well, this explains why Suma and I can never agree on how long ago something was unless we talk about it in months.) I thought, and a lot of things began to make more sense.

2024.05.25 23:32 FreekusAurelius87 Experimental branch: extreme difficulty playthrough, tips and feedback

I love the game and I cant wait for everything still to come. These are my tips and findings (cheeses, bugs, feature requests) after my extreme difficulty playthrough (all settings incl baron on max difficulty, high demands, no resources or equipment, aggressive baron, etc)

Start

Yes you need to restart until you have a rich iron deposit. Fertility is great but rich berries or rich hunting ground also works. Rich clay and stone are practically useless, especially stone . Clay can be useful for a second or third region to trade
You can relocate the hunting ground/deer location by placing a free hunting camp in the area of the deer , they will immediately pop to a new location. Do this so that your berries and deer are close on one side so you can safely cut trees on the other side (needs rework/cheese)

Building order

Immediately build logging camp, and hunter camp. Assign 3 workers to logging camp. Build market and well. Assign worker to hunter camp. Build sawing mill, woodcutter, stonemason, tannary. Assign 1 to stone until you have enough for church (10 I think). Assign one log worker to sawing mill, when completed. When you have enough logs for 5 burgages (10), church (5) and 4 for 20 planks so 19 total remove the last worker from log camp. Remove the sawing mill worker when you have enough planks (20). By now you should have 1 worker in tannary, 1 in hunter camp and 1 in woodcutter - with three necessary market stalls. Build 5 burgages with the other two workers (or start a bit sooner if you still need a few planks or stone with the other worker, just not too soon). As soon as all burgages are done immediately build church, you should have two free workers because you already have all materials. When done , assign to log camp, build forager and a sixth burgage plot. Then assign the last worker to forager when done and you are setup for success, wait for growth. Switch log/sawing mill/stone worker around (the other 4 are "stuck") a bit so you can build Manor asap. Build two large double burgages for veggies next (build extension once you have regional wealth a bit later)
Wait with upgrading to level two for a long time (I believe >40 families), you need all the workforce (see farming). Make sure you have mead, upgraded church and 3 food sources (berries, veggies and some meat/eggs/bread). So you need to have the whole farming thing working . First level two should be brewery followed by cobbler to fulfill needs. You dont need militia early on (merc up and use retinue)
Have around 8 single burgages and save their backyard for artisan extensions later. The rest chicken coops (~60%), veggies (2 large ones, few more midlate game) and the rest goats. Never need apples, you can easily get enough berries, meat, veggies, eggs and bread.
Settlements in 2-3 more regions , esp if you dont have high fertility boost one region to export barley . You need the regions for additional retinue. Building order is the same, but you dont need a stonemason early on (you start with stone). Rush Manor for retinue after church and housing.

Specialization points

Both trade specializations still feel must haves to me, especially if you need to import barley. If you picked rich iron, as you should, you need deep mines. Iron is your way to money. last two points go to armor making to upgrade your militias and provide another source of iron income.

Making money

Early on start exporting planks. But my main tip is to build a bloomery and smithy quite early. In this way you can make tools without needing to upgrade your burgages to level 2 (high demand = low approval = low growth). Export tools and grow families fast thanks to high approval (all level 1 up to >50 families). Once you have artisans and your first militia export Spears (cheapest to make) and small shields (cheapest to make). Once your main settlement is big enough and you have enough money, use tax wisely to boost your treasury when needed

Trade

Trade feels right to me. Remember you can export many routes without opening cost (just click export) [tip]. This is especially useful early on to start trade soon (planks, firewood, stone). Opening trade costs is not really expensive anymore , but still makes you think twice because of the lineair scaling costs. Which is fine I think. Pack stations actually work quite well!!

Royal taxes

are too low and late. They come in late in the Experimental branch, I think a bit earlier would make it more impactful especially if there will be other mechanics connected to it (like Royal favors). By the time they kick in, its easily manageable. I think a lineair scale, increasing Royal tax per year something would make more sense - like 0 per family in year 1, 1 gold per family in year 2, 2 gold per family in year 3 (double for lvl 2, triple for 3) etc. Up to a max at year 5 for example. (balancing suggestion)

Storage

Over time you need more specialized storage. Whats really annoying is that of you tell a storage it can no longer store a certain good, it still wont get picked up or carried away. Meaning for example if you started with 1 storage for both cloth and firewood stalls and you want to split them, you cant get the firewood or the cloth OUT of the storage without waiting for stalls to empty storage. Would be a nice change of storage workers from other storages would get "orders" to get rid of the unaccepted goods from other storages if its accepted in theirs (feature request)

The baron is broken

Not unbeatable, but just weird: - started with 5 Bandit camps (extreme) and the baron immediately spawns a massive army, almost impossible to get a Bandit camps - you need to go for Manor asap so you can snatch a camp while the baron beats the troops (cheese/Missing feature) - militia is slower and need level 2 burgage which will lead to unmanagable disapproval on high demand setting - it is possible to beat a Bandit camps with 5 retinue, make sure they are not fatigued (dont run), have them on higher terrain (need some luck here). Start with defensive and when you have high ground buff push - Baron still claims territories way too fast , first three claims are almost impossible to contest because it does not matter if its beginning or end game he will spawn the same army - always contest, just to slow him down - it takes 90 days for him to win which is way slower than allowing the claim to succeed. Which is weird (cheese/Missing feature) - if you are in a place to contest and fight (merc up after some luck with Bandits and tax) , always use that moment to claim his territories. One time I fought him once but won three territories around the same time. (Cheese/Missing feature) - if multiple things happen at once (like above) things get bugged. Bandit army spawned when he just spawned his army for a battle and the troops got stuck at the map border (bug)

Farming is still meh:

2024.05.25 13:34 NightCities13 Sagas-Game 101-Part 5

Arena
As the tributes rose up into the arena, they found themselves in a giant cornfield. Miles of cornfield stretched out in every direction.
Many food and drink items were on the outer layer, including loaves of bread, blocks of cheese, bags of apples, bottles of water, and two boxes of chocolates.
In the middle layer was supplies, such as electrical parts, bottles of chemicals, camouflage kits, sewing kits, and medical kits. Five full backpacks were also included.
The farthest layer from the podiums included weapons, such as spears, throwing knives, swords, bows and arrows, tasers, tridents, a warhammer, axes, pairs of scissors, ice picks, scythes, machetes, pitchforks, poisoned syringes, poison dart sets, and on a white table, a pistol with fifteen bullets.
Each tribute was dressed as farmers, with a very Midwestern Panem look about them.
Iridessa found herself next to Vista (3) and Sorrel (11). She stared at the bow and fifteen arrows, a look of pure excitement on her face. Archibald, who was next to Connie and Flip (3) focused on the warhammer, sending winks over to Iridessa and Quintus, the latter of whom clearly wanted a pistol.
Nerida was next to Lunar and Ashley (7), while Trent was next to Lorraine (6) and Akako (8). Both smiled nervously at each other, before staring at a set of tridents that were next to each other.
Lunar was next to Nerida and Curelle (12). She made eye contact with Saturn, who was next to Earl and Heinrich (14), and obviously wanted one of the backpacks.
Sativa was in between Quintus and Bane, but didn’t seem nervous. She wanted one of the two scythes, one of which were next to the pistol. Earl was next to Saturn and Clotilde, and also wanted one of the scythes.
Connie and Vince were next to each other, with Toledo (6) and Sinead (14) on their other side. Both wanted a pair of machetes on the far side, and they blew kisses at one another.
Isadora Gaul’s voice came over the intercom, wishing that the odds be in each tributes favor. The timer started down from a minute, and quickly got down to ten seconds, then five
Bloodbath
RING! The bell sounded, signifying the start of the 101st Hunger Games. Saturn rushed forward, grabbing a backpack and also grabbing Lunar by the hand, before fleeing to the West.
Connie and Vince grabbed the machetes, with Connie also grabbing a backpack, before they fled to the East. Nerida and Trent grabbed tridents, as well as a backpack, before fleeing North.
Sativa grabbed a scythe, backpack, and box of chocolates, and watched Sorrel grab an ice pick and bottle of water, while Sinead grabbed a pair of scissors and a bag of apples. The three girls then fled South.
Archibald grabbed a warhammer and immediately smashed it down onto the head of Clotilde, sounding her cannon almost instantly.
Earl grabbed a backpack and ran forward to grab a scythe, but in that moment Quintus loaded his pistol, shooting a bullet into Earl’s chest. Earl’s cannon sounded seconds later.
Archibald saw Dwight holding a poisoned syringe and slammed his warhammer into Dwight’s back. Dwight let out a horrified scream, and was paralyzed. Archibald slammed the warhammer into Dwight’s head, sounding his cannon.
Akako tried to grab a pair of scissors, but Bane grabbed her and as she screamed, snapped her neck. As the other tributes scattered, Iridessa saw Heinrich running at Quintus with a sword, and shot an arrow into his head, sounding his cannon.
Ashley (7) saw Earl’s body and tears filled her eyes, but she turned around right as Bane snapped Acorn’s neck. Ashley grabbed the last backpack and fled in tears.
Day 1 End
Iridessa, Archibald, Quintus, and Bane gathered the remaining supplies in the center of the cornucopia. Archibald commented that Clotilde had “never stood a chance” while Dwight was “a weak person from the weakest District.”
Quintus said that Earl’s redemption “meant absolutely nothing now” before turning and thanking Iridessa for saving from Heinrich. Iridessa smiled at Quintus, informing him that he was “very welcome.”
Bane chimed in by calling Akako “sweet but weak” and Acorn “adorable” but he never stood a chance. The careers immediately began eating and drinking, enjoying half of the second box of chocolates. Archibald and Quintus left after an hour to hunt for tributes.
Sativa, Sorrel, and Sinead ran until they arrived at a small clearing in the corn. They opened the backpack, all of which contained six sandwiches, six bottles of water, six apples, and five throwing knives. These backpacks could be seen in almost every Games past 101, with the lucky tributes getting enough supplies to last several days.
Sativa, Sorrel, and Sinead spoke of their families back home, and how much they missed them. Sativa said that her parents were executed for rebellion, which made her hate the Capitol. Sativa commented that her brother helped raise her, and wasn’t rebellious.
Sorrel said that she had five older siblings that took care of her, and they all took tesserae. Sorrel said that she refused to allow her eligible sister to volunteer for her, and that Bane had volunteered for his younger brother.
Sinead commented that she lived with her parents and younger brother in Ireland, and how she attended school and also worked in the farming fields.
Meanwhile in the North, Nerida and Trent seemed overjoyed to have survived the bloodbath. Both talked about what they would do if they won, and kissed. Trent said that he wanted to have kids with Nerida, which made her smile.
Connie and Vince talked about their families, with Connie admitting that she forgave Carlotta. She asked Vince if he still wanted six children, and Vince smirked and said that he did. The two spent some time kissing, before sharing one of their sandwiches.
Lunar and Saturn sat in the middle of a field and discussed their plans if they won. Lunar asked Saturn to start a band with her, and he smiled and agreed, before talking about wanting to help homeless orphans all over Panem.
Lunar said that she wanted to marry and have children, while Saturn said that he wanted to marry his girlfriend Europa and start a family with her. Lunar said that she wanted to see her parents and brother again, tears filling her eyes. Saturn gave Lunar a hug and calmed her down.
Lorraine and Toledo were sleeping near the cornucopia, a consequence of morphling usage. Archibald ran over to Lorraine and smashed his warhammer into her leg, breaking many bones. Lorraine was about to scream, but Archibald slammed the warhammer again, this time into her skull.
Her cannon sounded, causing Toledo to immediately wake up and flee empty handed. Quintus shot a single shot, the bullet hitting Toledo in the heart. A second cannon sounded, and Archibald and Quintus made fun of the 6s as they walked back to the cornucopia.
While Archibald and Quintus were gone, Iridessa and Bane talked about their families back home. Bane expressed remorse for killing Akako and Acorn, and Iridessa commented that she hated killing, as Heinrich was a father of two, but she had to in order to survive.
That night, Iridessa, Archibald, Quintus, and Bane ate and drank some of the cornucopia supplies. Iridessa hungrily ate some bread and cheese, making a sandwich, and watched Bane tell Archibald and Quintus about his younger brother Glory who he had volunteered for.
Sativa ate and drank with Sorrel and Sioned, with each eating half a sandwich and drinking half of a water bottle. Nerida and Trent shared a sandwich and water bottle, before kissing each other. They were sent to sleeping bags, and went to bed before 9:00 PM.
Connie and Vince had already eaten, so they cuddled together. They were sent two sleeping bags as well, and they snuggled up to one another. Lunar and Saturn were also sent two sleeping bags, and Saturn told a story and softly sang a lullaby to Lunar.
Saturn watched the fallen show in the sky, Clotilde from 2, Lorraine and Toledo from 6, Acorn from 7, Akako from 8, Earl from 9, Dwight from 12, and Heinrich from 14. Sativa looked slightly upset when Earl was shown in the sky, and told Sinead that his reaping was her fault.
Day 2
The next day, Iridessa and Bane went hunting for tributes. Unfortunately, they came across Lunar and Saturn. Tears filled Iridessa’s eye as she put an arrow on her bow.
Lunar was just talking about what she and Saturn would call their singing group when an arrow was shot into her head. Saturn started to cry, and begged for his life. Babe looked at Iridessa, who apologized to Saturn, crying about how she killed Lunar and how young Lunar was.
Bane grabbed Iridessa’s hand and took her away from the scene, sparing Saturn. Saturn burst into tears and cradled Lunar’s body, singing a final song to her about the sky above receiving her. Saturn was very upset, and only left after Lunar’s body was retrieved, kissing her forehead beforehand. Saturn left the area, hiding in the corn stalks.
He was suddenly sent a camouflage kit, and used it to camouflage himself and his sleeping bag into the side of the dirt road. Saturn forced himself to eat a sandwich and drink some water, before crying himself to sleep by noon.
Bane held Iridessa close as she cried, comforting her as she talked about Lunar being “a baby” and how the tributes were all human beings. After she calmed down, they headed back to the cornucopia, with Iridessa claiming to feel sick.
Archibald checked Iridessa’s temperature, and the careers decided to stay at the cornucopia. Iridessa vomited when Archibald talked about his kills, and Bane continued to care for her.
Sorrel was standing near to the cornfields using the restroom, and was suddenly attacked with an ax to the side by Ashley. Sorrel screamed for her allies, but rather than help Sorrel, Sativa and Sinead assumed it was the careers and fled. Ashley slammed her ax into Sorrel’s head, sounding the cannon.
Sativa and Sinead ran until they arrived at the northern area. Sativa saw Nerida, alone, talking to Trent who was using the restroom. She slashed Nerida’s throat with a scythe, while Sinead tried to leave to attack Trent. Nerida grabbed onto Sinead and Sativa to stop them, and Trent rushed out to see Nerida covered in blood.
Trent grazed Sinead’s shoulder with his trident, and the girls fled further North. Trent rushed over to Nerida, begging for the Capitol to send a MedKit. He sobbed as Nerida died in his arms, and she made him promise to win for her.
She closed her eyes, and a cannon sounded. Trent burst into tears, pulling a knife from his backpack and holding it to his own throat. The Capitol held their breath, but Trent ultimately followed the advice of Nerida and decided to win for her.
Meanwhile Connie and Vince explored the eastern area, seeing Vista and Flip. Both of the 3s acted very oddly, asking Connie and Vince to kill them as that was “why they were there.” Connie and Vince looked at each other, before both obliged, slashing their machetes into the necks of Vista and Flip.
Connie and Vince then cuddled, sharing another sandwich and water bottle. They watched the stars and wondered why the 3s wanted to die. Saturn ate and drank the other half of the earlier used sandwich and water, before falling asleep, still feeling numb from Lunar’s death.
Trent felt sick and threw up a few times, crying about Nerida. He was quickly sent a note from Nerida’s family that they didn’t blame him, as well as a photo of himself and Nerida. Trent cried and thanked the sky.
Sativa and Sinead ate and drank some food and water, talking about how Sorrel was just dragging them down anyways, and how at least one of them had to win to anger the Capitol.
Bane took care of Iridessa until she fell asleep, and convinced Archibald and Quintus not to kill her, as she would likely feel better the next day. Bane explained that Iridessa got blood in her mouth, and Archibald called that disgusting and said he understood why Iridessa felt sick.
Quintus walked over to Iridessa and covered her with a blanket. He told Archibald and Bane that he had a crush on Iridessa and found her to be very pretty.
Archibald kept watch over his allies that night, a look of suspicion crossed his face as he watched Iridessa, and woke Bane up and told him that he knew that he was lying.
Upon a knife being held to his throat, Bane told Archibald that Iridessa disliked killing, and Archibald said that he would kill Iridessa the next afternoon at 2:00 PM. Bane appeared sad to hear it, but was shocked to hear Archibald ask him to kill Quintus.
Bane was forced to agree, and Archibald manipulated him by saying they could win together and Bane could see his brother again. Bane knew that he had to put his life first, but eyed Iridessa and Quintus, conflicting emotions shown on his face.
The portraits of Vista and Flip from 3, Nerida from 4, Lunar from 5, and Sorrel from 11 were shown in the sky that night. Trent and Saturn were thankfully asleep when their girlfriend/friend were shown in the sky.
Day 3
The next morning, Curelle saw Sativa and Sinead sleeping. A sponsor note the night before had asked Curelle to kill the two and be sent a gift, and Curelle stabbed Sinead in the head. A cannon sounded, and Sativa woke up and saw Curelle standing there.
Sativa grabbed her knife and threw it into Curelle’s head. A second cannon sounded as Sativa spat on Curelle’s body, but didn’t seem to mind having three water bottles, two sandwiches, and half a loaf of bread to herself.
Trent explored the southern part of the arena, finding Ashley with a backpack. He argued with her over it, but she refused to give it to him. Trent pushed Ashley to the ground, putting his boot on her stomach, before stabbing his trident into Ashley’s head.
Trent left with the backpack, walking to the west. He walked by Saturn, who was sleeping, and decided to stay by the perimeter for a while. Trent teared up when he thought of Nerida, and determined crosses his face.
Saturn woke up and ate some food and drank some water. He sang a song about the moon, tearing up when he remembered Lunar. He decided in that moment to not just win for his fellow orphans, but to win for Lunar, the Covey, and District 5.
Connie and Vince ate their food and thought about the family they would start as they sat together, arm in arm. Connie told Vince that she loved him, and Vince reciprocated the feelings.
Connie got up to use the restroom, on her way back she suddenly tripped. Her scream got Vince to her side, and Connie was horrified when her ankle was revealed by Vince to be broken. Vince helped Connie and swore to stay by her side no matter what.
Sativa sat in the East and continued to insult the Capitol. Many in Snow Square booed Sativa, and even Sativa’s own brother admitted his disappointment with her in an interview.
As 2:00 neared, Archibald looked over at Bane and held up one fingers to tell him that one minute were left. Tears filled Bane’s eyes, and when Archibald held up a first, Bane rushed at Quintus while Archibald rushed at Iridessa.
Archibald began to choke Iridessa, who started to cry and seemed confused. Archibald called Iridessa a weak link career, and that no real career would care about outliers. He choked Iridessa until she closed her eyes, and held his warhammer above her head.
Right as he did that, a gunshot and a cannon sounded. Archibald turned around to see see Bane’s body, and Quintus rushing at him. Quintus shot at Archibald twice, missing, and Archibald slammed his warhammer into Quintus’s side.
Quintus let out a scream of pain, and Archibald slammed his warhammer into Quintus’s head. Archibald turned around to finish off Iridessa, but an arrow was shot into his eye.
Iridessa started to cry as she curled up in a hall underneath the blanket, her entire body shaking. Trent, who had heard the cannons, arrived at the cornucopia and saw Iridessa.
Rather than kill her, Trent comforted her, offering an alliance. Iridessa let out a smile and agreed, and offered her condolences to Trent for Nerida’s death. Trent told Iridessa stories about himself and Nerida, and she told Trent stories about her life in District 1.
Saturn woke up with a start, appearing to realize that not many tributes remained. Saturn moved nearer to the cornucopia, and overheard Trent and Iridessa talking. He listened to the stories, a small smile on his face.
Sativa finally fell asleep, exhausted from yelling at the cameras. Connie and Vince kissed, glad to be in the top six. They discussed a plan for attacking the other four.
Connie kept watch as the portraits of Archibald from 1, Quintus from 2, Ashley from 7, Bane from 11, Curelle from 12 and Sinead from 14 were shown in the sky. She seemed content and happy, and cuddled up to Vince.
Day 4
At 9:00 AM the next morning, the tributes were earned to enter the cornucopia, as homicidal scarecrows were headed their way. They were warned not to attack each other until told to. Saturn arrived first, surprising Trent with how close he had been. Sativa rushed in next, sitting on a log and waiting.
Connie and Vince were about a mile away, and Vince was helping Connie walk. Connie tried to convince Vince to leave her, and as the scarecrows got closer, Vince told Connie that he loved her, holding her close and kissing her as a scarecrow stabbed a spear through both of their hearts at once.
Two loud cannons sounded, and the tributes turned to face each other. Game Maker Esper Moonbeam made an announcement, telling Iridessa, Trent, Saturn, and Sativa that they were the final four. He said that the final four fights would be decided by randomizer to make things more interesting.
Trent VS Saturn Iridessa VS Sativa
Sativa rushed at Iridessa, insulting her career background. Trent walked over to Saturn, holding his trident before running towards Saturn. But Saturn was quicker, throwing a knife into Trent’s head.
Many was shocked as sixteen year old Saturn Hilton of District 5 was announced as the first victor of the 101st Hunger Games.
Sativa slashed at Iridessa, stomping on her and holding her scythe up in the air. Sativa made a comment “Fck you, fck the Capitol, and f*ck the Games.” A cannon sounded as Sativa brought her scythe down.
Iridessa shook on the ground as Sativa collapsed to the ground. Saturn stood above her with a bloody knife. Saturn rushed over to Iridessa, comforting her as she cried.
Many in the Capitol were happy by Sativa’s death, and Game Makers didn’t mind, as there no rules against a winner killing the other winner’s opponent.
Seventeen year old Iridessa Bishop-Belair of District 1 was announced as the second victor of the 101st Hunger Games. Iridessa and Saturn were then rescued by a hovercraft.
Aftermath
Saturn was uninjured, and spent his time by Iridessa’s side. Iridessa took a week to recover from her injuries, and her mental health was also much better.
Saturn and Iridessa did their victory interview together, with Saturn singing a song and Iridessa being her cheerful self. Both spoke positively of almost all of their opponents.
Iridessa returned to District 1, becoming a mentor and teacher of sensitivity classes. At the age of 21, Iridessa married her boyfriend of three years, Maximilian Bigelow. The two had a daughter, Arabella, and a son named Signet.
Iridessa became a star, working as an actress and model. She was most famous for her role in a movie playing as Cashmere Ritschlund from the 64th Games.
Meanwhile Saturn returned to District 5, marrying his girlfriend Europa four months later. They had two sons, Mars and Jupiter, and a daughter named Lunar.
Saturn opened homes for orphans aged 10 to 18 to live in and get financial help in Districts 1 to 13. Saturn was well known for his philanthropic actions for older orphans all over Panem.
Revivals
Lunar Povel of 5 and Connie Valentine and Vince Stax from 10 were selected to be revived. Nerida Callaway and Trent Shelton from 4 were last minute revivals.
Lunar sang with Saturn on stage, later having a son and a daughter by donor, while Connie and Vince married, having three sons and three daughters together. They ran a baby animal nursery together. Trent and Nerida married and had two sons together, later having a surprise daughter in their mid 40s.
Pacifica
To the Capitol’s surprise, the bodies of the remaining tributes went missing. This would stump the Capitol for five months, until the discovery of a man made country in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
This country was called Pacifica, and was hundreds of thousands of miles of land protected from sight by technological shields. This country had 873 million citizens and better weapons and technology
It had citizens from all over the world, including Panem. The revival machine had been created there. A peace treaty was soon signed with both governments allowing the bodies of the non revived tributes to be sent to Pacifica, where they would be revived and live out their lives. They were allowed to call their families at any time, but could only visit on December 25th to December 31st or Gift Day/Christmas.
This was to avoid a war and keep the Hunger Games alive and running. Panem and the World Alliance kept a good relationship with Pacifica, and the people in Pacifica watched the Hunger Games and even sent sponsor gifts.
It was also revealed that Vista and Flip were replaced by Pacifica citizens and sent home to their families. They were left alone, as two had died in their place.
