2024.05.19 13:06 Bebo_Zorak I think my friend might be bi or gay

I’ve had suspicions for a while. Being a gay guy, I’ve got a pretty good reading on guys. All of my exes were straight before me, and closeted guys just naturally gravitate towards me.
My friend who is pretty shy and takes ages to open up to has said he’s straight to me (which I’ve respected). I did develop feelings, but I just enjoy our relationship for what it is. If he were bi or gay and into me then I would be open to ideas, but until then we’re friends.
I did end up telling him how I felt and it was awkward between us for a while, but it’s made us closer than ever before. He opens up to me way more and it feels like we’ve gone from being friends to being close friends.
He doesn’t like talking about girls or guys, and I’ve asked him a few times what’s his type and he always avoids the question. When we go on nights out he chooses to go to gay bars and rejects any girls that come up to him.
When we’re drunk he’s extremely close, like joint to the hip. We stay together and he’s way more touchy feely. I try not to do anything, obviously it’s easier said than done when you’re drunk.
Lately I’ve noticed we’ve almost developed this kind of attachment anxiety, which isn’t healthy I know. All of my exes I’ve enjoyed my own space. For example when he’s with his friends (who are all straight) he’ll message me, even when they go on holidays together he’s reaching out to me (sometimes he’s messaging me every hour).
I’m not bi and didn’t struggle coming out, none of my friends struggled to realise their sexuality either and I’ve never been in this situation before, so could do with as much advice as possible please.

2024.05.19 12:04 ficus77 Some tips for first time travellers to Vietnam

Just got back from Vietnam - North to South tour over a couple of weeks around my partner's birthday. Absolutely loved the experience and would love to visit again and slow down the travel to take things in a bit more.
I have some tips for folk from my own experience. I'm from the UK - and specifically Cornwall where tourism is a mainstay of our local economy and I know what it's like to have your land flooded with tourists.
1: the pound is roughly 30000 Vietnamese dong, so divide by 3 and knock off some noughts. It's easier to knock off the last three 0s from the dong price first. Very important for weighing up the personal value of something you might buy/are being hassled to buy.
2: Security at airports is not like our biometric passport scanners in the UK - it's guys in very officious looking uniforms taking their sweet time to weigh up whether you should be let in (or out) of the country. Bear this in mind for planning follow up transport or arriving for a flight. Huge queues. It took about an hour after arriving to get through security, and an hour and a half when departing for our UK flight (important as they were shutting the doors by the time we got through security).
3 phone data - while queuing to get into the country in Ho Chi Minh, we opted to buy some local SIM cards from a stall next to the queues. They were £8 each and gave us unlimited data for our 2 weeks. Ideal. Might be able to get it cheaper but convenience after 20 hours of travelling was worth it.
4 airport transfers - take advantage of these where offered. Again, just takes the stress out of things as we found the country quite overwhelming, especially HCMC and Hanoi (overwhelming in a good way though).
5 city markets - we went to Hanoi, Cat Ba, Hoi An, Phú Quoc and Saigon and in each place there was a sizeable (Cat Ba was smaller) market advertised as a "must see" experience but in truth is the same place selling knock off clothes, luggage, souvenirs, food ingredients, etc. Every fourth or fifth stall is EXACTLY the same stuff. It gets boring after 10 minutes. Would advise visiting this wherever you are on your last day to buy some stuff to take home rather than lugging it around.
6 scooters - I wouldn't consider this unless you know how to ride a scooter, especially in the cities. Vietnamese traffic is an organic wonder to beyond from the safety of a taxi.
7 crossing the road - for UK folk, they drive on the other side in Vietnam. Very important to look both ways but believe the hype, pick your moment and go confidently - Vietnamese also have incredible spacial awareness to avoid you.
8 GRAB - download the app, add your card and Grab away. Again, speaking of convenience and least stress, you will quickly appreciate not walking for 20 minutes in +30° city heat and choosing to take an air conditioned taxi. For comparison, a trip that would cost about a tenner in UK costs a £1. Incredible value for your wallet, comfort and time.
9 food - try everything. OK, maybe Thit Cho on Hanoi is a stretch too far for the average Brit but everything else should be experienced. Personal favourites were Hotpot (so wish we had similar in UK) and BBQ where it's in the middle of the table and you do all the grilling. You can find Pho for equivalent of about £1 if you need shoestring food.
10 wine - some places sell local Dalat wine which is OK but wine is not a big deal in Vietnam and is usually at least UK price if not more. My partner found this hard as she doesn't like beer and didn't want to drink cocktails all holiday. Dalat is perfectly good plonk though - white and red.
11 Hoi An - don't believe the hype. We spent too long here (so sorry Saigon, you weren't as loved as you should have been). It can be done in a day and you've experienced it all. Reviews were lead to believe there was more to it. Nightlife was a laugh in a trashy way though if you want to do the whole Brits abroad thing.
12 Be respectful - my experience was that Vietnamese are a country of grinders who work all hours of the day. So speaking of Brits (or anyone else) abroad be respectful that not everyone you see is there for your photo opp or to help you and those in markets and hospitality are making a living, so don't waste their time. British especially are a nation of window shoppers and I'm not sure that came across too well on our travels. Try to be low key while you weave around the lives of Viet folk.
13 Learn to confidently say "no thanks" - politely saying "no thanks, just looking" and moving on is a valuable tool for getting through certain touristy areas. Engaging with folk will both give that person the wrong expectations and exhaust you in the process.
14 Google Translate - download this and use for basic enquiries. I don't think I was saying Xin Chao, Cam On or Tam Biet properly, so for anything beyond that, I have no clue. Don't assume people speak English - some are good enough to say Hello first to get past that.
15 Find a spot and just watch - find a coffee shop, relax and watch a very different people go about their lives. Things I enjoyed: how cool all the young people are; how obsessed the young folk are about selfies; care of children; karaoke round the dinner table (understand not to everyone's taste); friends enjoying a hotpot; lads fighting a crab into said hotpot; groups of friends having animated toasts after work; care of old folk; many and varied ways to use a scooter to carry people, goods, materials, flat screen TVs, dogs.
16 Beers in order of my personal taste - Saigon Red; Larue; Saigon Special; Hanoi; 333
17 Beer St in Saigon - go walk through it. I have never seen anything like it. Don't necessarily stop there but go observe it's wild, perverse nature.
18 If staying in a hotel, before you head out for the day, soak a flannel in water, put it in a glass, put the glass in the fridge. You will appreciate it when you get back from your enevitablely roasting walk around town (mad dogs and Englishman..).
19 pack for very hot weather (in May at least). I took a set of clothes for UK - these were worn to and from the airport and otherwise lived at the bottom on my bag. Otherwise, shorts, t-shirts and light shirts to keep the sun off. Even cotton t-shirts felt too much at times. My favourite items were a matched black linen shirt and shorts I bought out there. Pretty much lived out of them exclusively towards the end of the trip. Must have announced my musky presence from a great distance. Utilise the laundry services for sure.
20 ignore the rubbish - try to tune it out and adjust your hygiene expectations. This is important as in two weeks, I got blisters, bites, at anything and yet came away without food poisoning, infection or anything else. It's an eyesore at times to these soft UK eyes but don't let it ruin the trip. Hope Vietnam authorities can do more to handle that as it'll mount up the more the country is discovered.
Sure there's more but just offloading after getting back. Hope it helps.
EDIT: More to add
  1. Cash is king but card is accepted - in the UK, because of COVID, cash has definitely taken a back seat to contactless payment. I've rarely had to use cash other than to pay for things off FB marketplace. Vietnam isn't like that, despite being at least as technologically advanced as the UK in certain respects. Always have some dong on you. Few hundred thousand covers small purchases like water, Bahn Mi for the road, restorative coffee, etc. A lot of places do accept card but can come with a 3% fee. And get ready as they take the card and put it into the machine - it's not a scam (at least, I don't think it is) just how it's done. The card machine is handed to you for pin and then half the time they need a signature on the receipt. Monzo is a good bank for travelling as you get free ATM withdrawals on their side up to £100 and you can instantly see the conversion of the latest transactions.
  2. Ice cubes - when I got my travel vaccines, I was told to be wary of ice as much as tap water. From experience, iced coffee from most coffee shops has been fine (thankful in the heat) and cocktails with ice also fine. I'd maybe avoid the street side iced drinks and stick to modern looking bars, coffee shops and hotels to be on the safe side.
  3. Geckos - you may see geckos in hotel rooms and elsewhere. Fear not, they are harmless and like to feast on mosquitos. As with any wild animal though - and includes all the cute looking street dogs - observe from a distance. We shared our cabin in Phu Quoc with a foot long Tokay Gecko which absolutely freaked us out for an evening until the manager told us it's fine and just to leave it be and it'll keep it's distance. Definitely the coolest wild creature I saw.

Carhartt Packable Water-Resistant Duffel Bag with Utility Pouch

I recently got the chance to own and use this Carhartt Canvas Packable Duffel with Pouch for my daily commutes and weekend trips. It's a game-changer! The bag is made of 500D polyester, which has been treated with Rain Defender, a durable water repellent (DWR). This means I don't have to worry about my stuff getting ruined in case of rain. One of the things I love about this duffel is its spacious main compartment. I can fit all my work clothes and shoes easily. The dual webbing haul handles also make it really comfortable to carry around.
However, there's a catch - the exterior slash pocket. It's a bit too tight for my liking and it tends to get stuck when trying to put something bigger inside. Another thing that caught my attention was the adjustable shoulder strap. While it's a great feature, I found it a bit too long, even when adjusted to its shortest length.
Despite these minor setbacks, I still believe this duffel is worth every penny. Its water-resistant feature is a real lifesaver during gloomy days, and its sturdy construction ensures that it'll last for a long time. Plus, the bonus utility pouch is really handy for keeping smaller items organized!

Water Repellent Carhartt Duffel Bag with Utility Stash Pouch

I recently purchased the Carhartt Lightweight Duffel and Utility Stash Pouch in black, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my daily commute. The polyester material not only feels durable but also looks sleek and stylish. One of my favorite features is the removable and adjustable shoulder strap that comes with a comfortable pad, making it effortless to carry around.
The main interior compartment with a zipper ensures all my essentials are securely stored, while the exterior zippered pocket provides easy access to my smaller items like keys and wallet. What truly sets this duffel apart from others is the foldable utility pouch inside, perfect for keeping my gym wear separate from my work belongings.
The water-repellent coating gives me peace of mind knowing my belongings will stay dry even in unexpected rain. Plus, the iconic "Carhartt" logo adds a touch of class to this versatile bag.
However, one minor drawback is the limited color options available. I was hoping for a wider range of choices to match my personal style more accurately. So, if you're looking for a high-quality, durable duffel bag with an integrated utility pouch, the Carhartt Lightweight Duffel is definitely worth considering.

Carhartt Classic Durable Water-Resistant Duffel Bag (Gray)

https://preview.redd.it/ejha8mvssc1d1.jpg?width=951&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=602875c5857481d6ed544b8cc5596616111efa71
As a reviewer who's been using the Carhartt 55L Classic Duffel in my daily life, I can attest to its durability and flexibility. The Rain Defender water-repellent finish on this heavy-duty 1200-Denier polyester bag has kept all my belongings safe in even the toughest of weather conditions. One of my favorite features is the large main compartment that allows me to carry everything from my camping gear to tools on the job. The top and side haul handles, along with the removable, adjustable shoulder strap, make it incredibly easy to carry around wherever I go.
One downside I noticed is that the bag's interior seems slightly smaller than expected. It does manage to store plenty of items but with less organization than some other duffels I've used due to the lack of additional pockets other than a single zippered one.
However, the overall design comfort and visual appeal make up for this minor inconvenience. The grey color adds a touch of sophistication while still maintaining that rugged look characteristic of Carhartt products. Plus, the lifetime warranty provided gives me peace of mind knowing my investment will last for years to come.
So, whether you're an avid camper or just need a reliable bag for daily use, the Carhartt 55L Classic Duffel is definitely worth considering. Its blend of style, functionality, and durability won't disappoint.

Carhartt Classic Laptop Backpack

I've been using the Carhartt Classic 21L Laptop Backpack for a few months now, and I must say, it has become an essential part of my daily routine. This backpack is not only stylish but also incredibly functional, with features that make it a must-have for anyone on the go.
The main compartment is large enough to hold everything I need for a day out, including my 15-inch laptop, textbooks, and even a small lunch box. The padded shoulder straps provide comfort, making it easy to carry around without any strain.
One thing that really stands out about this backpack is its durability. The 600-denier polyester fabric, combined with the Rain Defender Water Repellent coating, ensures that my belongings stay safe and dry, even in the toughest weather conditions.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks that I've noticed. The lack of additional compartments can make it difficult to organize smaller items like pens and pencils. Additionally, the backpack tends to be on the heavier side, which may not be ideal for those who prefer lighter options.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Classic 21L Laptop Backpack is a solid choice for anyone in need of a functional and stylish backpack. Its large capacity, comfortable design, and impressive weather resistance make it a worthwhile investment. While it may not be perfect, the pros far outweigh the cons, making this an excellent choice for daily use.

Sleek and Durable Black Essentials Duffel Bag by Carhartt WIP

https://preview.redd.it/ke785xptsc1d1.jpg?width=533&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c03b485dfe57f7418dd2ee6677ba8947218bdb0
Carhartt WIP's Black Essentials Bag has been a game-changer in my daily life. As a guy who loves to travel light, this versatile bag offers so much more than just space for my essentials. The recycled polyester canvas is not only eco-friendly but also water-repellent, which is a must-have feature for someone living in a city with unpredictable weather like me.
You know how it is when you need to quickly grab your keys, wallet, phone, and other daily necessities on your way out - well, this bag has two main openings that fasten with a two-way zipper, making access easy as pie. Plus, the adjustable shoulder strap makes it comfortable to carry around and adds an extra layer of convenience.
The Carhartt Essentials Bag also comes with a smaller velcro pocket on the front and another small zipped pocket, perfect for storing smaller items like business cards or headphones. At 17 x 16.5 x 6 cm, it's the perfect size for carrying essentials conveniently and comfortably.
One thing that really impresses me about this bag is its durability. Despite its compact size, it can withstand daily wear and tear without showing any signs of damage. It's a quality product made in China, combining style and functionality to meet the needs of every modern man.
The only downside to this bag, in my opinion, is the price tag. It's not exactly cheap, but considering the high quality and longevity of the material, I think it's worth the investment. All in all, the Carhartt WIP Essentials Bag gets a solid thumbs-up from me.

Carhartt Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer for Men

https://preview.redd.it/0pmeqpeusc1d1.jpg?width=489&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3a545bc4c0b1a75cc3621d53e6992574630150f
In my quest for the ultimate organization solution, I stumbled upon Carhartt's Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer. As an avid user of different types of gear, I can confidently say that this crossbody bag has been a game-changer in my daily life. One of the standout features for me is the adjustable shoulder strap - offering both convenience and versatility without compromising on comfort.
The main compartment houses two slash pockets and five elastic loops, which are perfect for storing and accessing essential tools effortlessly. However, one minor drawback is the single zipper, making it difficult to open the bag without causing the sides to open as well. Another highlight worth mentioning is the front compartment, featuring a slash pocket and an ingenious key fob that prevents me from losing those elusive keys.
While the Carhartt Gear Organizer doesn't boast a large capacity, its compact design and robust construction make it reliable for carrying your vital tools and devices. Over the past few weeks, I've relied heavily on this organizer for work and leisure, and it has shown no signs of wear and tear - a testament to its impeccable craftsmanship.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer provides a convenient storage solution for anyone who needs a reliable and compact tool for organizing their gear. Despite a few minor drawbacks, such as the single zipper in the main compartment, this lightweight and durable bag has become an indispensable part of my daily life.

Carhartt Heavy Duty Water-Resistant Gear Bag - 23

https://preview.redd.it/d49k7g8xsc1d1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8b62a64ccb552cb1b0989c2561218fb238e8ad5
I recently received the Carhartt Legacy 23" Gear Bag in black, and I must say, I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance. At first glance, this bag might seem like your average gear bag, but once you start using it, you'll realize that it's so much more.
Firstly, the durability of this bag is outstanding. Constructed from 1200D poly, it's designed to withstand even the toughest of conditions. The Rain Defender Durable Water Repellent and Duraux abrasion-resistant base mean that my stuff stays safe and dry no matter what the weather throws at me.
The main compartment is deceptively spacious. I initially thought this would be a standard tool bag, but it turns out to be a versatile gear bag, perfect for travelling or organizing everyday items. The top and side haul handles, combined with the removable/adjustable padded shoulder strap, make it incredibly comfortable to carry, even when full.
However, there are some minor downsides to this bag. For starters, the storage options inside the bag are a little inconvenient. There's only one small interior pocket, which isn't very useful for organizing smaller items. Additionally, some users might find the size of the bag a bit too small for their needs.
But overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The Carhartt Legacy 23" Gear Bag is a well-made, high-capacity bag that's as tough as they come. If you're in the market for a reliable gear bag, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Carhartt Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch

https://preview.redd.it/tluuw9lxsc1d1.jpg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cc88622605b2828bd40550d2793c0ebcdbf3418
I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Black Trade Series Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch, and I must say, it has been an absolute game-changer. The large zippered opening into the main compartment has made packing and accessing my stuff super easy. The exterior slash pocket is perfect for keeping my essentials within quick reach.
One of my favorite features is the included reusable tool pouch, which I use to store various small hand tools. It's a nice touch that adds extra utility to an already versatile bag. The removable adjustable shoulder strap with pad provides comfort and convenience during those long hauls.
However, there are some downsides. While the bag is spacious, it could stand to be a bit more organized with some internal compartments. Additionally, it may not be the best option for those looking for a lightweight, minimalistic bag.
All in all, the Carhartt Black Trade Series Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch is a reliable and durable choice for anyone in need of a versatile bag for work, travel, or sports. Just remember to pack light and keep an eye on the size if you're planning on using it as a carry-on for flights.

🔗John Deere Knit Beanie with Leather Patch

https://preview.redd.it/8uhtj305sc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=891eefc376da9868a5b695be3486a90a74a01145
I recently got the chance to try out the John Deere Leather Patch beanie, and I must say, it has been an essential part of my wardrobe in these chilly months. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the knit material, it's so soft and warm. The Carhartt Brown color pairs perfectly with my casual outfits, making it my go-to beanie for most days. The John Deere leather patch on the front adds a unique touch that sets it apart from other beanies.
One downside is that it can be a bit tight-fitting around my ears, but that could vary depending on individual head size. Despite this, the beanie has proved itself to be a reliable companion during my daily activities and I appreciate the American craftsmanship that John Deere stands for. Overall, I would highly recommend this beanie for anyone looking for a stylish and warm accessory.

🔗Carhartt Classically Durable Winter Beanie

https://preview.redd.it/jmm6u3e5sc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73a0b5bafafe8f9c370e6ad669cd61ffcf8a4415
I recently decided to give the Carhartt Glass Blue Knit Beanie a try during these chilly winter months. As a product reviewer, I was excited to see how well this beanie would perform in both comfort and style. The 100% acrylic rib knit fabric is a pleasant surprise as it feels incredibly soft against my skin while doing an excellent job at keeping the cold out. I also appreciate the thick cuff, which ensures that my ears stay toasty and the beanie stays firmly in place even during blustery winds.
One of the highlights of this beanie is the Carhartt label sewn on the front. It adds a touch of sophistication to an otherwise casual look, making it suitable for both work and play. I love how the leather patch complements the beanie's color while adding a subtle edgy vibe.
However, there is one minor cons. I've noticed that during extremely windy days, the wind may make the Carhartt patch flutter a bit, which can be slightly annoying. Nevertheless, the overall quality and design more than make up for this minor inconvenience.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Carhartt Glass Blue Knit Beanie. Its superior comfort, stylish appearance, and sturdy construction make it an excellent choice for anyone seeking a reliable and fashionable beanie during these cold months.

🔗Carhartt 2nd Quality Rib Knit Beanie

https://preview.redd.it/30ulm4y5sc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b489d1a20c28025509b651aea31adf6fdfd6e22
I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Factory 2nd Acrylic Knit Cuffed Beanie 2.0 in Gray, and I must say, it's been a reliable companion in keeping my head warm during chilly mornings. This beanie is made of 100% acrylic, stretchable rib knit fabric, which ensures a snug fit without feeling tight. The Carhartt label sewn on the left side adds a touch of branding that I absolutely love.
Although it's imported, the quality is top-notch, and I can feel the durability in every stitch. However, the material can be slightly on the warmer side, so it might not be the best choice for those who prefer more breathable headwear. Overall, if you're looking for a cozy and well-built headwarmer that'll stand up to the elements, this Carhartt Factory Acrylic Knit Cuffed Beanie 2.0 is definitely worth a try.

🔗Men's Carhartt Skills Graphic Beanie in Coal Heather

https://preview.redd.it/75utp0a6sc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60f0691986ba1db425ab5789b9e2e0fae2854669
I remember when I first got my Carhartt Skills Graphic Beanie, I was skeptical about how much it would enhance my outdoor outfits. But boy, was I in for a treat! . This beanie not only kept me warm, but also added a touch of rugged charm to my winter wardrobe.
Its acrylic, stretchable rib-knit fabric is a dream to wear, and the sewn-on Carhartt label on the front only adds to its distinctive look. Plus, being made in the USA is always a plus point for me.
However, one downside is that it doesn't have any reviews yet, which makes it a bit hard to gauge its popularity. Overall, though, it's a fantastic beanie for any guy who loves the outdoors and wants to support the trades.

🔗Customizable Carhartt Heather Grey Watch Cap 2.0

https://preview.redd.it/28qpwqq6sc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4197924e55a7126c2d7cba2519d5c50978905960
I recently purchased the Carhartt Watch Cap 2.0 to stay cozy during my morning runs in the freezing temperatures. I've always been a fan of Carhartt's high-quality standards, and this hat didn't disappoint! It's super comfortable, stretchy enough to always have a snug fit, and flexible enough to go over balaclavas, gaiters, and ball caps for even more warmth. But its best feature has got to be the bright lime color that seems to glow in the dark, making me super visible during my night runs. On the downside, it can be a little itchy initially, so remember to wash it before you wear it. Overall, I highly recommend the Carhartt Watch Cap 2.0 for anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, and stylish beanie that keeps your head toasty, even in the harshest of climates.
Now let me tell you about another aspect of this beanie that made me appreciate Carhartt even more. I bought three of these for the men in my family when we were heading to the mountains for Christmas. And guess what? They loved them! The guys felt so protected and warm that they didn't want to take them off, even when it started snowing on us. When it comes to keeping your head warm and comfortable, the Carhartt Watch Cap 2.0 truly delivers.
However, I did come across one issue with sizing in my research. The size seems to vary depending on the country where it's made, which can be a bit frustrating. It's a good idea to keep an eye on that if you're a stickler for consistency in your hats.
All in all, the Carhartt Watch Cap 2.0 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality and cozy winter beanie.

2024.05.19 11:35 MotleyCrew1989 ADVICE NEEDED: I (35M) confront, play dumb or cut contact with a (F33) friend over something she confided me??

Prepare for a wall of text, this is a long one, also, english is not my mother´s tongue. Im posting this after a question in AskMen touched a sensitive fiber and I need some advice on how to proceed. I posted this on relationshipadvice too, but the female perspective you could offer me here might help me understand this from her point of view too.
She is a married friend of mine, but our friendship is quite peculiar.
We know eachother since our last year at university (eight years ago), we did a team asignament and got along well so we continued seeing eachother after the course ended. We clicked well and talked about everything including our romantic lifes, her almost sexless relationship and my shitty and sexless dating life. We developed trust, companionship and a curiosity for trying new things together. We have the same values, political leaning and dark sense of humour. It is a great friendship and we can confide eachother anything.
She was in an almost sexless relationship for years, she married that same guy and is still married to him (14 years together and counting). Her relationship with her now husband is great except for the sexual aspect. This was a recurring conflict in her relationship up to the point than her then BF told her than "if she wanted sex so much she could find someone else", it didnt bothered him that she had sex outside of the relationship. She almost told him to go fuck himself right there. Ironically, near the marriage date she found chats his fiance had with another woman, he was planing on cheating on her. They talked thing out, she forgave him and got married. I asked her WTF she was thinkig, but she said she loved him...
Over the years of closeness, trust and mutual support, we developed atraction we both adknowledged to eachother but we both knew nothing would happen because she was married. Just to give you an example, she once told me that if she wasnt married we would have been having sex from long ago (wierd to translate from spanish), and I told her that the only thing stopping me is that she respected her marriage. This kind pull and push went on every once in a while for years. We both knew nothing would happen but we liked having someone that made us feel sexually desired, as her relationship was as sexless as before the marriage, and my dating life sucked big time.
Arround year and a half ago, she gave her husband an ultimatum and he finally went to an endocrinologist and a therapist, and after some time their sexual life improved. This went fine for arround a year until her father in law passed away, and their sex life plummeted again.
In our last meetups she told me her husband screwed up again, she found he had a collection of pictures he took from a coworkers IG profile and pictures from other women, which he looked before having sex with her to arouse and prepare himself for the act. When she confronted him, he said he was going to try to improve, but a month passed and he was caught again looking at other womens pic. He said to her that his psychologist told him he wasnt hurting anyone by doing this, as it wasnt cheating.
He said he wanted to do a clean slate, try from the begining again and she also said she had something to confess. A year after the wedding, she took some singing lessons (she sings preety well) and there was a classmate that didnt gave a fuck she was married, she hadnt had sex in months, found someone who was agresive in his aproach, lusted for her and caved in. She told me about the guy when this happened, but she lied to me and said that "it took a lot of willpower and self restraint not to cheat".
Now, here is the problem:
I never expected her to dump her BF/husband for me because that is a recipe for failure and being replaced on the same way the previous guy was. And while I stated I was interested I never pushed too far because of her morals (christian practicing woman who believed in marriage and loyalty AFAIK then). I have to admit than I if she dumped him I would have taken my chance because she is everything I want in a woman (except for the cheating part), she actually raised the standard of what I would like in a long term partner.
But it really pissed me off than the moment she decides to take the risk to set her life on fire, she does it with a random guy, and that the excuse she gave me is that she valued our friendship and would have caused her a lot of pain if her husband found out and she couldnt see me again, she didnt sleep with me because she values me. What kind of twisted, emotionally manipulative way ot thinking is that???. I didnt confront her that exact moment and emotionally dissociated because at the time we were having a coffee previous to a theater function she gifted the ticket to me for my birthday (we give eachother nice gifts), it was not the time nor the place.
I honestly feel used for the validation her husband didnt gave her for years, and a part of me wants to tell her to fuck off and never talk to her again. Another part of me sees a great friend in her, and it would hurt me dearly not having her in my life. This confession changed the way I see her, there is no going back from that. I can accept being second to her husband, for good or bad, its the man she choosed to share her life with, but not to a random stranger (one who didnt gave a fuck about her values).
I have to be honest too, and in these eight years my dating life was a dissaster, I never dated much, I tried for a month or two, then dropped the towel for months on a never ending cycle with longer hiatus each time. Dating allmost always lead nowhere for me, I only had sex with two women in all that time, I would have loved a LTR but it never happened for me. So, having someone that found me atractive as a person and as a man made me feel a bit valued.
TLDR: I have feelings for a married friend, she said she is atracted to me too. It never lead anywhere because we both knew our place. She cheated on her husband with a random guy and told me she didnt cheat on him with me because she values me.

2024.05.19 11:31 Nearby-Revolution229 why do I self sabotage on purpose?

so I'm a pretty young guy and there's a lot of younger people at my workplace who are very cool people. I wouldn't say I've struggled to make friends, but a lot of bad things have happened to me and now I have a lot of internalized homophobia/act more fiscally conservative than I am because of what I went through in high school, and I have trouble talking to people. It actually really hurts when I see people so confident in themselves and I picture an older version of my younger self with them instead of that person turning into me. it feels like that person died and I lost something. But that line of thinking makes me suicidal so I try to dismiss it as my brain playing tricks on me.
Anyway, with that context out of the way, here's what this post is about. I don't hate myself. I'm solitary and anxious, but I do love myself. It's almost like I see me and myself as a team lol. so I don't truly believe that people hate me. But thinking about befriending these cool people at work, I keep telling myself they hate me. Like I picture a scenario in my head where they sneer at me and say really viscous and hurtful shit to me if I tried to talk to them. I don't believe that's what's going to happen. But it's like I'm making a conscious choice to pretend that it is. Like I'm playing a little game with myself. And it hurts a lot. it makes me want to cry.
Another example. There is a pretty cool girl at my work who I want to talk to. She has not explicitly approached me and said "I think you're cool and I want to be friends", which for me is the minimum it would take for me to even consider opening up to her. But if I put myself in her shoes, that's asking a lot. And logically, I'm pretty sure she wants to be my friend. she's started conversations with me a few times. I'm not psychic but I'm assuming. But because she hasn't given me explicit confirmation, I tell myself that she thinks I have an obsession with her and that she's extremely uncomfortable around me, so I try to avoid her. I don't even look at her. Not in a rude way or in a way that's trying to manipulate her, but just staying out of her way. Honestly maybe she does think I'm weird at this point because I've acted this way. But that doesn't make me feel embarrassed. It just makes me sad but vindicated.
So why do I do this to myself? I say it's a choice I'm making, but it's probably closer to an intrusive thought that takes over. It just feels like I choose it a little bit. Am I scared of rejection? Do I want control? Is it childhood trauma? Id even just appreciate if someone relates to this without a solution.
I can't just make the choice to stop feeling bad for myself or whatever because this always pops up when something good might happen for me, and I do believe I deserve good things. But when it's in real life, that happens and I'm really mean to myself in my head about it.

2024.05.19 10:58 ChardPublic387 Clubbing in relationships always leads to disaster

I've had 3 relationships in the past. All 3 of them cheated at the clubs.
The first one I dated was a party girl, and so in retrospect her cheating was more of an eventuality. Never date a party girl, they're for the streets.
The second and third went clubbing maybe 1-2 times a month, eventually found out from mutuals they were always getting drinks from strangers and then hooking up with them. Both used the shitty excuse of "it was a heat of the moment thing" or "I was so drunk I'm it'll never happen again"
I really disagree with people saying "Oh trust your partner" or "You're being so controlling". People lie when clubs are mainly for dancing. If that were so, why do both guys and girls dress so provocatively as if advertising they wanna bang.
Especially for girls, it's so easy for them to cheat there. I'm not saying all men go to the clubs for the purpose of getting laid, but I'd bet at least a good 60-75% there keep an eye out hoping to get lucky. They don't care if they're attached or if it's morally incorrect, as long as they have fun they don't care about the lives they destroy.
Clubs are made for girls, they get in for free on ladies nights and the guys follow. Guys will shower them with drinks, and they'll accept. The alcohol impairs their judgment which then allows them to justify choosing any good looking guy there to hook up with. It's like fruit picking, and if something better comes along then "Why not? It's just for one night. They'll never find out".
Even if they don't hookup, women are lying when they say they don't like the unwanted attention. Women go to clubs for that attention, it's an ego boost. That's also just as bad because that means they're always on the look out for something better, meanwhile the poor guys at home are blindly being loyal.
It's been a year and I'm still trying to recover from all this. I think I'd happily be single for the rest of my life as long as I don't have to deal with this nonsense. If I do find someone, if they even mention that they like to club I'll drop them so fast they won't even know what hit them.
My advice to you Redditors is always be wary of your partner going out clubbing, as there's a very high chance something bad is going to happen.

2024.05.19 10:54 insanebraincrane What is wrong with my approach to love? M/26 22F

Hey,

This is gonna be long-winded and probably incoherent, but I just need to get this off my chest and if you have any insight regarding why it's constantly happening to me I'd love to hear it.
I consider myself a pretty introverted guy, but I've generally had no issues talking with girls and getting dates, more so recently of course, since I've been growing more comfortable in my own skin. I'm definitely a romantic, I never understood the attitude of guys that treat girls like trash, that just doesn't compute in my head. If I love something, I'm going to take care of it to the best of my ability.
I think we have all had that experience of "the one that got away", well mine was no different. The girl I met when I started uni was special, she was drop dead gorgeous, completely my type, witty and cracked jokes like I would, we finished each other's sentences, we had the same ideas and ambitions. Everything was going great, I was on cloud nine and I never even thought about this like that, but this girl made me think that she's the one I'm gonna marry. We were celebrating new year's at a mutual friend's house and we hooked up, it was phenomenal. Literally 2 days later she ghosts me out of nowhere, I panic. I reach out to talk to her face to face to see what's going on. She obliged reluctantly and word for word said "I'm sorry it's not going to work, you are too good for me".
Now, I've had my heart broken a few times by this point, but this... This was devastating.
I went to a dark place in my own mind, stopped talking with everyone, started doing drugs and generally engaging in self-destructive behavior. It was really hard accepting the fact that my best was never enough for her, I blamed myself constantly, I cried dozens of times alone outside. Whenever a song came up on the radio that reminded me of her my whole mood changed, even if it was jolly prior. I generally am able to keep a cool and straight face when I'm around family as I never want to talk about my own problems, mostly because I know that if I do I will fucking meltdown so I steer clear, I never want them to feel sorry for me, but even they thought something weird was going on and kept asking me questions.
It took me a good 3 years to accept what happened and start trying to move on, as you can imagine my confidence was shattered for that whole time and my self-worth was at an all time low. I started dating again, but not to find love, I don't believe in that anymore, just for sex and to feel wanted. I would tell girls what they wanted to hear, hook up and bail. Hell, sometimes they only wanted sex too, that was optimal. If I didn't get intimate with a girl on the 2nd date I would just look for someone else, I never wanted to put in any effort into actually cultivating anything meaningful or fulfilling. I would always feel like shit when I would pump and dump, because deep down I know what I was doing and that it wasn't me, but I also craved the satisfaction. Looking back, I was definitely perpetuating my own trauma.
Now, I used mainly dating apps, sometimes just start texting people I knew. But a few weeks ago I was at the supermarket and just on my phone walking, when some girl just ran in front of me at speed and knocked me off balance for a moment, she just glanced back at me and I saw how pretty she was, it sent a shock down my body. She was hurrying to get some beer, which I respected and admired. When we were on our way out I approached her to talk to her, told her she caught my eye and asked for her number. She gave me the digits, but she was so flabbergasted it was really funny and cute. We went on a date the next day, she's amazing, we mesh so well together. She's smart and responsible, takes care of her parents same as I do, we found a lot in common. I was thrilled, I never approached anyone like this and the time I felt that I had to do it - it paid off in a big way. I was falling for her and she was for me.
We went on dates, we had fun, talked and walked a lot. I bring her lunch to work, flowers sometimes. She was celebrating a sister's birthday one evening and I had taken her from the place to her apartment, she said she wanted me to stay the night, so I did. It was glorious, we both had a great time.
After that she ghosted me, she doesn't text me first anymore. I have to show all the initiative now, whenever I try to set up dates she's busy. To be fair she is pretty busy, she has 2 jobs and she's one of those people like me that don't pull out their phone when hanging out with someone, just not that attached to technology which I really vibe with. She spends a lot of time with her family, she has sisters and cousins that are all the same age and they hang out in the evenings at her place or at her sister's place and I trust that she's not lying. I've met her cousins, they are all really sweet. But I just feel like she's lost interest in me, I keep trying to get something going but her response times are getting longer and longer.
Honestly I've never seen a switch flip so suddenly, it's like she's a different person now. We used to be so intimate, not only in a sexual way but she would sleep on my chest, hug me in her sleep, squeeze me and not let me go, now she barely gives me any attention. It feels like I'm a burden on her right now. She told me that she has always had trouble with relationships because she's so busy with work and it never worked due to this, but I also feel like she could make time for me if she wanted to, but just chooses not to. I feel like I'm about to get my heart annihilated again.
I don't want to lose her, she made me believe in love again. I truly love this girl and want to build my future with her. I keep fighting the urge to reach out to her and try to make it work, but I think that pulling back might be the best play, however painful it might be right now.
Why is it that always when something good happens to me it never lasts.. Always disappointment after disappointment. What is wrong with me?

I always had a problem to download Identity V on my laptop, but at the end, i always success. Well, this time I have no idea what to do. I have a new computer, and when I'm trying to download Identity V from the original page - it works. It works, I download it, but when I'm trying to do it in files, I can download it as many times as I want, and yet it won't be fully installed. [Abandoned Pools] Sony Connect Track by Track Interview
A while back I was messing around with the Wayback Machine & came across this diamond in the rough on AP's MySpace page. Also found some photos, but most importantly, a track-by-track [Armed To The Teeth] interview from Sony Connect that they did back in '05 (presumably around the same time they did the Sony Connect set with the acoustic songs).
In the interview, Tommy tells the story behind each track on Armed To The Teeth (except Lucky). You'll also find tidbits about the process, lyrically & sonically of these songs, and much more!
If you want to read it/see it from the "raw" source and discover more, here's a link with the Wayback's capture I found on the interview blog: https://web.archive.org/web/20071005015435/http://www.myspace.com/abandonedpools
Now without further ado, the Sonic Connect Interview:
A track by track discussion of Armed to the Teeth from the Sony Connect Store interview:
LETHAL KILLERS TW: As far as how that [demo of the] song was constructed ... I did this trick where I would take a half-time drum loop and sort of nudge it one way and then put in another track and nudge it the other, and we got this sort of double time, rolling drum feel. So that - plus the sort of round-robin type of guitar parts that we have going - was sort of a very easy construction for a song. And then you start moving the bass part around, and, boom, you've got a song.
But I think that lyrically - I want to make it clear that that song isn't necessarily [about] "church is bad, government's bad." I think it's a little bit more complicated than that, though sometimes if you mix the two of religious power and government power, that can be bad for both of them. And I kinda like the idea of not living a life saying, "Well, you better live life in a certain way because then, you know, everything's gonna be great later in heaven." You know, the idea of, like, if this is all we have now, if that idea was just a little bit more embraced, our world could be a little bit better. I just find that a little bit more satisfying, too, if you think like, this is all you have and then you're gonna die. [Laughs] It seems a little bit more like, "Oh, okay, well!" instead of, like, thinking that there's some other life at some other time and you can put things off.
RABBLE TW: Well, a lot of the songs on this record - about two-thirds of it - have to do with a relationship I had that went south, and you know when you go through relationships you always have such a good 20/20 hindsight about things. And I think "Rabble" is just trying to basically say to somebody, "I just wanted to know you better" . . . It's just one of those things where, with this relationship in particular, I wish it would have turned out better. And there's a lot of things that happened that shouldn't have happened, and it's just sort of one of those "oh, what could have been?" scenarios.
THE CATALYST TW: "The Catalyst" is definitely along the same lines. I think the main line in that one is "I wish I could say something beautiful to make you fall in love again." There's a Coachella reference in there, too: "Love has slowly faded away like spotlights shining into space." Have you ever been to Coachella? Of course you have. You know, there's all those spotlights that shoot up in the air. I just thought that was kinda cool, like, how far do those lights really go? "The Catalyst" was also the last song written for the record. It was demoed while we were in the studio. And it's one of those songs that I said two-thirds of the record was written for somebody. That's one of them.
TIGHTER NOOSE TW: "Tighter Noose" is the oldest song on the record by far. It was probably written back in '99, 2000, or somewhere in there. I was thinking about it for the first record [2001's Humanistic], but it didn't really fit in with those kind of songs, so I kept it around and we'd even play it live occasionally. I think it fits in with these songs way better. [As for what "Tighter Noose" is about,] that song is one of those breaking-off-on-your-own- what-have-you-got-to-lose kind of things, because that was written sort of in the wake of when I was in The Eels. It wasn't a terribly happy situation, so I was like, well screw it, I'm just gonna go off and do my own thing. And then it's sort of like, well, you know: "I'm gonna go start my own thing. Uh, I have to learn to sing and write songs now." [Laughs] It's kinda funny: "Screw you guys! I'm gonna go get a deal!" And then like, "Uh oh." But really, I'm a firm believer in that [idea that] you just gotta go for it. And so it was like, well, this is gonna be difficult, but it's gonna be better than what I had before. And actually, with some distance on that situation, I realized I made the right decision and made a lot more money and was a lot more happy as a result. So that was sort of a leap of faith, you know. I didn't want to be someone's stupid bass player. Now I'm my own stupid bass player.
WAITING TO PANIC TW: There was a lull between record companies. The first record [Humanistic] was on Extasy - I don't know if you know about that company, but we were basically the poster-child for the implosion of an indie label. I came off the road in 2002, the label's folding, and I'm like, well, I'm just gonna go back and give this my best shot and we'll get another deal. It seemed highly unlikely, but we ended up doing it. And there was just a lull in there where nobody was interested. I had attorneys not returning my phone calls - that kinda stuff. It felt like, I'm just waiting around and I'm really anxious. So that was a song of frustration that was written and demoed all in one day - it was a song that just came out of me in like eight hours. We also put an EP out [The Reverb EP] and on the EP is the version of that demo that I did in one day. It doesn't happen [like that] very often. Usually I build bed tracks and come back to it a few weeks later and add something, and then come back a couple of days later. This one was all in one shot.
HUNTING TW: My friend Ross Golan, who has his own band Ross Golan and Molehead, had been following the wake of the relationship. He's like, "You just gotta write her a song and use her name." And I'm like, nah, nah, it's not covered enough. And he's like, "No, just do it. Go for it." So I did. I wrote this song and I wrote it for her for her birthday and I used her name, which is in the first lyric of the song, which is "Ginny." So I just went for it and wrote it. It was basically a birthday gift, and it was basically saying, like, you know, "Oops!" [Laughs] It didn't get me very far, but I like the song. We're friends, she's a good girl, absolutely, but back at that time, it was kinda like, "Erraaghhh! Here's a song!" But I like the song and I just think it was one of those times where I was really putting myself out there, and I know she liked it, too. But then, I think that's a myth where you just write a song and all of a sudden the girl just says, "Oh! Okay!" But, you know, hey. There it is. It's on the record.
That's the romantic notion of how they'll react to the song, at least.
TW: Exactly. And I'm really glad we're past that whole ironic phase, which I was part of with The Eels, where everything was super ironic and we'd play "The Macarena" on stage - [sarcastically] and that was funny! I'm glad we're through all that stuff, even though I was still a Beck fan when he was doing all that stuff, too. But I like being sincere and sappy and romantic. I kinda think that's a great thing.
ARMED TO THE TEETH TW: This is one of the first songs written when we came off the road and I had a lot of momentum. If you look at the state of the industry you can see a lot of corporations that seem to have to buy everything in sight. They just have to own everything, and to what purpose? Does it really make the industry much better? No. There's fewer outlets, there's a lot more gatekeepers. They want to buy stuff and it just kinda makes things bad for everybody. All the radio stations play the same shit - except for Indie 103.1 and KCRW in L.A. In spite of it all, I'm just gonna try to do my best and have a career anyway. When we came off the road I felt like I had a lot of momentum. Performing live is inspiring to writing, so it was just the whole idea of, "Alright, now that I have one record under my belt, I'm gonna really go for it in spite of all the forces that be." Even though they're pretty much indifferent to us, [laughs] their actions do affect us. It's sort of a song of bravado.
Why did you also choose "Armed To The Teeth" as the name of the album, too, which, in turn, implies it as the overall theme?
TW: Yeah, which is funny, since I kinda decided on that theme early on, thinking I was gonna go in a certain way, but then, like I said, two-thirds of the record is love songs. So "Armed To The Teeth" doesn't really fit in a certain way, but I also liked it just because [of] that idea of, like, now I'm really ready to make a record, and also I think it reflects the state of the country a little bit. Everything's a little bit aggressive, we're at war, and I thought it was sort of timely in that way
SOONER OR LATER TW: "Sooner Or Later" is another one of those tracks that was written after we got signed, so it's a newer song. I mentioned that sort of double time drum loop thing with "Lethal Killers" - this is the same thing. It's a half time drum loop that I nudged in one direction and then put in another track and nudge it in the other, then "boom," it's double time. And I like that, it's a good effect. It really sets up this kind of overlapping, rolling sound that a real drummer can't do. And things flam a little bit, and I really like that feel, so this song was constructed in the same manner where you have a rolling drum loop and then you put over a couple of guitar parts here and there and all of a sudden you got a song - I think this song is over six minutes. This is, um, I guess it's a couple things. Lyrically, it's sort of saying, like, whatever you do or whatever you say, there's no point in hiding anything because it all comes out in the end - which is the tagline in the chorus. There's no hiding. And in the verse it says, "Sooner or later / It's all coming down." In some way or another, whether you acknowledge it or if it just eats at your self, you can't really get away with anything. It's sort of fatalistic that way, but also in terms of, like, seeing how I also look at as a bigger picture of, like, politically, and since we're at war right now, it seems like things are getting a little scary. And that's kind of like one of those doomsday scenarios. If you look around a little you can really freak yourself out if you're reading about, like, bio-warfare and things like that. So a lot of this talk about "smoking gun in the shape of a mushroom cloud" and all that, it sort of brought up for me a lot of doomsday scenarios. So it's two-fold: it's that doomsday scenario, in terms of as far as the world is concerned, and then, personally, if you do stupid shit then you're eventually gonna pay for it somehow.
SAILING SEAS TW: Like "Hunting," this is probably the most direct, out-there storytelling song. Instead of using her [real] name, it's switched to "Holly," which is in the chorus. So it's another one of those songs talking straight to somebody. And there's a lot of details in there that I wouldn't talk about in normal conversation. That's the funny thing about songwriting where I wouldn't talk about this, but then I can put it in this song and you can still hear it and you still understand, but it's sort of masked a little bit. It's presented in a certain way where it's somehow okay to say that when you're in a major key or something. Because like, the second verse is about pretending you're outside a room listening to somebody [you love] have sex [with someone else], and that's a situation to put yourself into to really torture yourself. I created this scenario in my head and I put it in a song, and it's kinda brutal, but the [beat of the] song is upbeat and happy.
RENEGADE TW: This is a sample-based type song [with] drum loops. The cello was originally a Bjork sample and we replaced it. This one is sort of hard to explain. To me it’s just sort of like just a creation, because some of the record is social commentary, and I think there's a lot of that in this song, and it's like little snippets and ideas, and not necessarily one unifying idea. I think it's just kind of a song based on looking around and taking stock of things. This song in particular isn't really even about anything. It's just, like, observations, pretty much. And, oh, by the way, Billy Howerdel, the guitarist from A Perfect Circle, is playing guitar on that song. He jumped on that track and he's the one that makes it sound scary.
MAYBE THEN SOMEDAY TW: That was one of the first songs written in the wake of the breakup. It was one of those kind of "well-it-just-didn't-work-out-but-maybe-one-day-we'll-see-what-happens" kind of things. Because the circumstances are such that it wasn't gonna happen immediately so I was kinda like, well, we'll see. I don't have much to say about that; it's just grouped in with "songs about her."
GOODBYE SONG TW: That was also written when there was not a lot going on for me and we hadn't really nailed down the record deal. She [Tommy's ex-girlfriend] always thought she was bad luck - she'd show up and bad things would start happening - so she thought it was her fault that I hadn't got a deal. She actually moved away and soon as she did, we got a deal. [Laughs] I think it's funny to sort of say, like the first line of the song is "I'm not washed up / And you're not bad luck for anyone," so, you know, get off the ledge, really. And it's just one of those things; it's one of those yearning songs. I think with a lot of those songs there's a certain amount of effort spent on presenting evidence, like, "Look, I know this is how you feel, but look at all the other stuff." It's almost like making a case for your self [in a song]. And like I said, it didn't get me far, but it's still a good venting process. And I sort of realize when I say things like, "I wrote this for her" or whatever, it's not really for her. It's more self-indulgent to get this stuff out. And in a way you're saying, "Yeah, I wrote this song for you," but no, you wrote it for yourself so you could say things that you felt like saying. So I realize that and I think I realized that while I was writing them, but my job is to write songs so you take from what's around you to make it happen.

2024.05.19 10:01 COOCOORAARAA Is this an interesting Coraline movie prop in your opinion?

I plan on showing it to you guys eventually, currently working on a display
Basically, it’s a Coraline face, and very much looks like a screen used Coraline face, but it isn’t actually screen used.
Before Coraline’s look was set into stone, there was one last thing that had to be done, and Henry Selick asked the crew to make three identical sets of expressions (so an identical sequence) - one with just freckles, one with freckles and blush, and one with neither.
Henry then looked at each sequence and compared them to see which one he liked the most - he ended up choosing the freckles and blush sequence; my face plate has the handwritten text “freckles/blush” and was a face used in the sequence that determined the final look of Coraline.
I’m curious if you guys think this is cool, because I do. While it’s not a screen used face, it’s pretty unique. There are 10,000+ screen used face plates out there, and probably less than a dozen of the ones used in the freckle/blush sequence that was used in finalizing the Coraline we know and love

The Civivi Midwatch Damascus Twill Carbon Fiber is a must-have for anyone who appreciates a knife that's as functional as it is beautiful. I've been using this knife for a couple of weeks now, and I must say, it has truly lived up to all my expectations. One feature that really caught my eye is the twill carbon fiber handle. It not only adds an element of beauty to the knife, but it also provides a comfortable and secure grip, ensuring that your hand doesn't slip even when the task at hand requires a firm grip.
While the knife is perfect for tactical purposes and outdoor activities, I do wish it came in a larger size, as I sometimes find myself yearning for a little more reach. This lightweight yet strong material not only feels fantastic in hand but also adds a touch of style that sets the Kansept Bevy apart from other pocket knives. The razor-sharp blade made of cpm s45vn stainless steel and the lightweight carbon fiber handle made boning and filleting a breeze. It's built specifically for those push cuts, which is perfect for my daily cooking needs. I've been extremely happy with my choice and wouldn't want to go back to a less efficient and less satisfying cutting experience.

🔗Ultra Lightweight 440C Stainless Carbon Fiber Pocket Knife

I was recently introduced to the Fox 573 Carbon Fibre pocket knife, and let me tell you, it's a game changer in the world of every day carry knives. At only 1.1 oz, this lightweight companion is perfect for slipping into the deep recesses of your pockets. The blade, made from 440C stainless steel, is sturdy and sharp enough for cutting tasks but not too intimidating for the average guy.
The back lock mechanism is firm and secure, providing peace of mind when you're using this knife day in and day out. But it's the handle that truly steals the show. Crafted from carbon fiber, it's both strong and stunningly beautiful. Top it off with a lanyard hole and a carbon fibre effect leather pouch, and you've got a knife that's every bit as practical as it is elegant.
Of course, nothing is perfect. While I appreciate the Italian craftsmanship, I can't help but wish for a few more color options for the sheath. Still, overall, the Fox 573 Carbon Fibre is a reliable and sophisticated addition to any pocket knife enthusiast's collection.

Buyer's Guide

When looking for the perfect carbon fiber knife, there are several key factors to consider to ensure you end up with a high-quality product that suits your specific needs.

https://preview.redd.it/ev25t3350c1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ce085e5f67b1c2581cd8a48c73c7f1e1f378590

Material Quality

The material quality of a carbon fiber knife is of utmost importance. Look for knives made from top-grade carbon fiber, which is strong, lightweight, and very durable. A quality knife will have a uniform texture and color, free of defects like scratches, blemishes, or excessive wear.

Blade Type and Shape

Carbon fiber knives come in various blade types, such as straight or serrated, and shapes, like drop point, tanto, or spear. Consider the purpose of the knife and your preferred blade type and shape that fits your needs. For example, a drop point blade is great for general-purpose tasks, while a spear point blade is ideal for piercing.

Weight and Balance

One of the main benefits of carbon fiber knives is their lightweight nature. When selecting a carbon fiber knife, ensure it strikes the right balance between being light and having a substantial feel. A well-balanced knife will reduce fatigue during long tasks and provide excellent control throughout diverse applications.

Handle Comfort and Ergonomics

The handle of a carbon fiber knife is just as important as its blade. It should provide a comfortable grip and be easy to handle, even in wet or greasy conditions. Ergonomic designs with textured grips help reduce the risk of slipping during use.

Maintenance and Care

Carbon fiber knives require specific care and maintenance due to their unique composition. They should be washed and dried thoroughly after every use. Keep them away from excess moisture and oil, and regularly clean and maintain the blade to avoid corrosion and prolong its lifespan.

Brand Reputation and Reviews

Lastly, research the brand and its reputation within the market before making a purchase. Read reviews and product comparisons from other users to gain valuable insights into the knife's performance, durability, and overall satisfaction.

FAQ

What are the benefits of using a carbon fiber knife?

Carbon fiber knives offer several advantages, including durability, lightweight, corrosion-resistance, and a sleek appearance. These knives are designed to provide a strong and long-lasting cutting edge, making them ideal for tough tasks such as cutting through bones and tendons. The lightweight nature of carbon fiber also makes them comfortable to use and easy to carry, while the corrosion-resistance ensures they maintain their quality even when exposed to harsh conditions or frequent washing. Lastly, the modern and stylish design of carbon fiber knives makes them a great addition to any kitchen or culinary collection.

What is the difference between carbon fiber knives and stainless steel knives?

The primary differences between carbon fiber and stainless steel knives are their composition and properties. Carbon fiber knives are typically made from a combination of carbon fiber and steel, resulting in a strong and lightweight blade. They require special care due to the carbon fiber composition, which can result in damage if dropped or improperly cared for. On the other hand, stainless steel knives are made from a single, alloyed steel composition with added elements of other metals to improve their properties. This makes them more resistant to corrosion and rusting, making them a good choice for everyday use and in humid environments. Both types of knives have their own unique benefits and drawbacks, making it essential to choose the right one depending on your specific needs and preferences.

What is the care and maintenance required for carbon fiber knives?

Carbon fiber knives require some special care and maintenance to ensure their longevity and performance. It is recommended to hand wash and dry the knife after use, avoiding placing it in a dishwasher. It is essential to use a non-abrasive, mild detergent and avoid using steel wool or harsh abrasive materials, as they can damage the carbon fiber. Additionally, avoid soaking the knife in water or leaving it in a wet environment for extended periods, as this can weaken the carbon fiber and result in rusting or corrosion. Lastly, it is crucial to store the knife in a clean, dry, and protected area to prevent damage and maintaining the knife's sharpness and edge.

How much do carbon fiber knives typically cost?

The cost of carbon fiber knives can vary depending on factors such as the brand, design, and size of the knife. Generally, carbon fiber knives are considered a premium product and can range from mid to high price points. While some budget options may be available, it is essential to remember that investing in a quality carbon fiber knife may be more cost-effective in the long run due to their durability and performance.

Are carbon fiber knives suitable for professional chefs or experienced cooks?

Yes, carbon fiber knives are popular among professional chefs and experienced cooks for their durability, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant properties. These knives can provide a precise and controlled cutting experience, making them suitable for various culinary tasks such as preparing meats, vegetables, and other ingredients. Additionally, the sleek design of carbon fiber knives adds a touch of elegance to any professional kitchen or cooking environment.

2024.05.19 08:57 MistaGalaxy I'm sorry but I just had to defend Kaizen the ML from (How to hide emperor's child)

DISCLAIMER : LONG RAMBLING (ngl, very tempted on that non judgement flair, im a coward)
I gonna said it guys, Kaizen is way too overhated and the hate towards him is unwarranted
also, this is strictly novel only, because tbh I don't like how the manhwa portrays Kaizen. and spoilers.
now truthfully does Astelle (FML) deserve a better ML (not Seibel, just a random village guy) or just stay single? yes lol
I come to this conclusion not because of Kaizen but rather I felt that Astelle would prefers the countryside life more than being an empress.
And now onto Kaizen. From the hate comments i had seen towards him, I conclude that people are just traumatized from Sovieshu's shenanigans and how the this story and the Remaried Empress have similar premise which I can see why people would lumped them all together.
And this story opening up with Kaizen divorcing Astelle after literally the day their wedding night \ahaha* do not help at all.
Ya okay, this part on why the fuck Kaizen choose the worst time to divorce Astelle is really something that I can't defend (the author prob just use it to ramp up the drama i guess lol)
But, i do can defend on why the divorce had to happened. For those uninformed, its a plot device that it is an obligation emperor and empress must consummate their marriage even though the couple can choose to use protection (??) and the plot twist comes in that dundundun Kaizen's dad is dead literally the next day thus Kaizen's emperor reigns began.
From the flashbacks, we can see that Kaizen from the young age have always being wary of any potential threats to the throne and ironically the girl (Astelle) he was betrothed to was the daughter of said threat. So the boi had been planning to get rid those threats once he got that emperor power which also includes Astelle unfortunately.
Now, that does means Kaizen despises Astelle? No. At worst, he just wary of her knowing full well she is just a puppet to her father. If he does despise her, he could just kill her on the spot the moment he becomes the emperor.
Kaizen in a way does see Astelle as someone who is in the same predicament and Astelle who never confessed her feelings make him assumed that her feelings toward him is the same as him.
Which lead to him doing to what I can say to worse thing he done to Astelle. A very angsty teenage boi ignoring and avoiding his fiancee for their entire childhood. So surprise 2X, he doesn't know much about Astelle despite basically growing up together. And of course, he gonna assume that Astelle like stereo typically any upper class lady stuff.
Now onward to post-divorce. He did tried to give compensation to Astelle after learning that she had been kick out by her OG family and of course Astelle heartbroken, understandably rejected it which make him assume that Astelle found a decent life elsewhere.
ok now i gonna list down things i appreciated about Kaizen after did i mentioned that i binged read this novel 3 times?
  1. Bro is completely and painfully aware that Astelle do not like him. So yes, he's aware that divorcing literally after the wedding night is a total dick move. So he never does force or blackmail Astelle (the divorce was mutually agreed) but just took every chance to dragged out the trip so he can hopefully convinced Astelle to stay.
Heck, he even tried to give Astelle and her new family free mansion in the capital because he's aware that Astelle is near to zero chance would want to be an empress so at least he could watch over her. (so close, so far FR lol)
  1. He's very straightforward. He would always confessed that he does feel jealousy when Astelle is having good time with any other man. And expressed disappointment when Astelle wouldn't understandably trust him.
  2. He's not completely down bad for Astelle. While most of the story Kaizen would say yes to Astelle including when Astelle is planning to work together with her father aka the worst threat to Kaizen. Kaizen doesn't let Astelle completely clouded his judgment when she request her very sick maternal grandpa and her young nephew back to the poor countryside which yah doesn't really made sense in Kaizen's POV. And he did hilariously a petty revenge on Astelle by stealing away Theo (post-reveal) by convinced Theo to sleep at the Emperor's Palace instead for a night.
Also, I'm not joking 99% of Astelle and Kaizen's interactions ended up Astelle hilariously rejects any Kaizen's advances. (MLs despair and desperation after got rejected by FMLs just tickled me pink for some reason. Literally why i fuckin love these type of tropes lol) And much to our beloved FML dismay, just like her stubbornness. Kaizen stubbornly would not back down.
Now this arc got me emotional the most so i gonna ramble about it.
Onward to the post-"Theo is revealed to br Kaizen's son" arc, Astelle agreed to be the empress again due to some politics stuff that I didn't remember on the condition that Kaizen must agreed to divorce her after 3-5 years later with no strings attached. (like she's had enough lmao) then the maternal grandpa accidentally reveal Astelle's former crush to Kaizen that just give even more emotional dmg to Kaizen which just lead to him to say fuck this and allowed Astelle to leave anytime she wants (and gift her a castle and even the entire East region) with the promised that he would not remarried and Theo will succeed him as the emperor. then he got poisoned. DUNDUNDUN
Now, Astelle could have just took this fine opportunity to leave but of course she didn't and Kaizen while in and out of consciousness, said "i gonna die, huh? welp rn i wanna write my last will to give all of my authority to Astelle". Bro already accepted his fate ヽ(*。>Д<)o゜. and when Astelle said to please recover quickly for Theo and for her, Kaizen literally said, "Wait, you actually want to save me?" gahhhhhhhhh angsttt gyahhhhhhh
OK FINE, i be honest, i'm just here to let out my fangirl moments (no friends moment frfr) I do not expect this incoherent ramblings of a mess would change anyone's mind lol.
on my first read of the novel (back to the ex is my guilty troupe kek) , I literally do not care about Kaizen, thinking he just a whatever ML but after looking at the comments that just 90% shitting on him even multiple times comparing to the likes of GRADE A-HOLE, Sovieshu made me thinking, he's not that bad tho, convinced to re-read again the novel and again for good measure hehe. And the guy (as evidence from the mess of an essay) warmed up to me.
As you can see, i really do like this novel. (just shows what my standards are ehe)
  1. top tier FML (I don't really care for children so sorry Theo)
  2. small cast of characters and small world building, at least make me remember all of them upon my binge read.
  3. Politics is understandable and doesn't felt it doesn't dragged out that much.
  4. I don't why ppl kept thinking Seibel is the 2nd ML when bro is introduced much later part of the novel. so thankfully no fuckin love triangle.
  5. Don't really care much about Astelle mom's past B-plot tho
8/10

So...Archmage Absolution of Inspiring
Hello, fello builders,I am a new player(joined in tota) and wanna try some new stuff this league, since you can easily print some crazy gear, it should make most of the off-meat stuff at least viable.
It all starts when I saw a few discussions about alt quality absolution gem and a build showcase form Matil, plus some experiment stream from Onemanaleft, a crazy idea just grow in my mind :
"What if I can play Archmage Absolution like stormcall back in the day?"
*Discalimer : I am a huge minion cuck, and all minion cucks are either weird, filthy rich, or both.
*Discalimer 2: I don't really recommand anyone try this build unless you hate your life or you like being mentally and visually tortured
So first, POB and some T16 semi mf(40 quant 130 rarity), T17 b2b barrel action so you don't have to watch all the disgusting walls of words before the good stuff.
POB
https://pobb.in/0GA0CgW2SakY
YT showcase
*FLASH BANG ALERT
https://youtu.be/o1rOsEKtAgg?si=_nwvAvRvWdzeyqG5
I use hh instead of MB here, since its quicker in mapping, and you have to go fast in this strat.
https://youtu.be/slU4UC1CbYI?si=Lte_QBzKZG5hjjDR
Didn't know exactly what killed me there, strongboxes are scary sometimes.
As you can see, I use AG and spectre for the buff/debuff, which alots of people are not a fan of, but it is what I can think of aside form generic multi-curses kitava's thirst setup(Its good, but I wanna boost my dps even more by using 8 link helmet), maybe there are better tech out there, hope you guys can help me out on that.
This build has two setups
  1. inspiration + any flask of choose for casual mapping(around 30-40mil dps)
2.spell echo + Lavianga for harder content aka T17 (around 60-70mil dps)

Damage source

Absolution of inspiring-spell echo/inspiration-awakened spell cascade-Archmage
with 8-link helmet
Shout out to Elesshar for the amazing crafting guide on this one
Wand with generic acrhmage mods, using essences of fear instead of woe
forgot to 30% quality first,sadge

Summon

Every spectre/AG has overcapped ele res and 80k+ health, though chaos/phys max hit is a bit low, my AG died twice in 100 T17 b2b maps, spectres dies here and there but not much.
Spectres I use
-Spectral Leader(20% action speed)
Kind of hard to keep it alive in T17 and some T16 hot moment, but damage boost is pretty crazy, could've use arena master instead.
-Primal Rhex Matriarch(increase enemy lightning taken by 50%)
-Charge monkies(for frenzy charges)
AG gear
-King maker, Legacy of fury,Vixen entrap(enfeeble curse on hit), gruthkul's pelt, crusadeshaper helmet(increase damage taken/decrease lightning res debuff)

AOE

It seems that stormcall has better innate AOE than absoution even though it says the same in the gem, and you can't use conc+ intensify for 5 overlaps on awakened spell cascade since the latter can't modify minion gems. So the only way you can do is scale the shit out of aoe, at around 5.8 meter(or 280% in game panel) you can reliably get 5 overlaps, see below.
Maven demo
AOE demo

Defensive layer

Eternal damnation setup+ minion taunt
Taunting works pretty well on T17 mapping
Build cost(~250d with self crafted weapon/helmet)

Pros and Cons

the good
-Respectable dps and maxhit
-gear are easy to craft and sell(sold roughtly 1.5 mirrors with wand craft)
-rub your hipster ego(very important)
the bad
-pseudo minion build
-AG and spectre can and will die
-not budget friendly
Overall went better than I thought, then again any crazy ideas can work with adorned and mageblood, I recon there are more techs I didn't know existing out there, maybe you guys can help me out.

2024.05.19 07:31 PoemOpen I finally had a much needed discussion with my SO today.

I have commented here a few times but never posted. It's long so i get if you dont want to read. I just have some feelings to let out! I've been with my(27f) SO(29m) for 4 years. He has a son(12) whom I met when he was 8. I am child free and have no interest in being a mother myself. However, I felt being a stepmom/cool aunt would be fine bc I don't have that big of an issue with kids and my SO only has SK EOWE (he now keeps SK 3 weekends a month bc SO's mother can't not stick her nose where it isn't wanted) I made the mistake of trying to be too helpful at the beginning of our relationship bc I am a people pleaser who didn't know better and wound up being main caregiver every weekend SK was here due to SO's excuse of having to work. For a little while it was fine bc SO had started a new, very fruitful and life changing job and I wanted to help him succeed and i was under the impression after a while he wouldnt be expected to work them as much. I picked up SK from BM's house after my own long day/week at work every weekend my SO had custody, I would pick up food for SK, even paid for groceries for SK when SO failed to get any for the weekend, cleaned up messes and was the only ear around for SK to yap into oblivion. HUGE MISTAKE!!! After a while (like 2.5 years) of this going on, no thanks or appreciation and then getting criticism from SO's father for literally parenting SK when no one else was, I threw my hat down and said I'm done taking care of SK for SO and would step back. Last year I had started to slowly nacho and do less and less as my resentment towards both SK and SO grew larger. At this point in time, SO was CHOOSING to work these weekends instead of being required to; and choosing to pick up extra OT (an extra 8 hours on top of the 16 he is working that weekend) on some of these weekends while taking off on weekends we didnt have SK. This grinded my gears and I had a discussion with SO about how unfair it is to expect me to be completely responsible for SK when I am not his parent. That resulted in SO's mother taking SK for one weekend a month and SO apologizing and saying he won't do that anymore. Now, maybe I should have been more clear, but SO took this to mean that he could work these weekends, but no OT. That is not what I meant. I meant for SO to not work when he has SK. It came to a big head when just 2 weeks after we had our initial discussion, SO texts me from work telling me he not only had signed up for the weekend, but asked for an additional 12 HOURS that weekend since it would be extra pay for working on a holiday without talking to me on a SO custody weekend. He had the audacity to tell me "dont be mad." I lost it. I told him that this behavior was disrespectful to me and a huge slap in the face given the conversation we practically just had a fortnight ago. He apologized, said he won't do it again but it wasnt good enough for me until i saw real, consistent change. I told SO he needs to get his mother to watch SK that weekend because I will not be doing it. He tried but SO's mom was out of town. I was pissed and told him if it happened again there would be a serious change in our relationship, either I move out or we split and that he will be making up for this for a long time. Things were fine for a little over a month. SO was taking off weekends he had SK like I asked and had someone watch SK if SO wanted to work. All is good. Then this weekend came. SO signed up this weekend despite SK coming over and didn't communicate with me. I was mad but kept quiet, when I shouldn't have. Today we were talking and deciding whether to go workout today since if we did we would have to rush around before SO had to leave for work. SO said something along the lines of: SO: "what do you want, then?" Me: "for you to not go to work tonight." SO: "So we can go to the gym?" Me: "Yea....among other things.." I think he knew what I meant. I could tell his tone got defensive. I know that was passive aggressive of me but tbh we had been having some rough times lately and I was so tired of being frustrated with him so it just kinda came out. I told him the same things I had been saying: not my kid so why am I expected to take care of him? I don't mind helping but I am not SK's mother or father, he has those. This did not bode well in SO's brain because even though I stayed level headed to express myself, he immediately jumped on the defensive, got loud and told me that since I am at home that it "shouldn't be too much to expect me to watch his kid." And just no. Absolutely not. I DID NOT PUSH THIS KID OUT OF ME OR BUST A NUT IN THE WRONG PLACE!! I put my foot down and I told him straight up I did not get into this relationship to be anybody's mother and if that is what he expected of me then we will not work. After A LOT of getting him to calm down🙄🙄🙄 he began to understand what I was saying(Or at least put on a damn good show of it if not). I tried my best to make him feel that I do not hate or really even dislike his son or wish him to be gone(I prefer Sk not be here but it is what it is and I try not to have SK feel that way bc it's not his fault) but I am very resentful of the amount of work I have put in and am expected to do for a child I did not have and isnt my responsibility. I also sited his lack of communicating efficiently with me about his work schedule. I said I know I get visibly irritated when SK comes over and SO decided to ask "well if I do this will your attitude towards SK change?" Which like...what bad faith question honestly. I told him "yea, most likely, with time and consistency from you." Overall, we are doing well as of right now and I feel like things are slowly changing, which is good. Not exactly how I wanted but that's reality, ya know? I love SO very much. He is an amazing partner and is the only place I have felt safe in my life. His child is just a really tender spot for us as SO does not want to be a father but feels stuck. I understand that but we have to wake up to our reality and not just push responsibilities off onto others. I hope things will continue to get better from here but I also wouldn't be surprised if this is what eventually breaks us up if we spilt ever. Apologies for the length. I've had a lot of feelings for a while and don't have anywhere to let it out but this subreddit has really helped me understand my own feelings and feel less like I'm the bad guy for how I feel.

2024.05.19 07:18 FallenShadeslayer [Very Long] The Last Faith (PS5) - May 2024 Review

The Last Faith is what you get when you combine the tone and allure of Bloodborne mixed with the flowing combat and sheer coolness of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Theres also a sprinkle of Blasphemous in there, for some reason. It's also a game that isn't quite sure if it wants to be a souls-like and near-copy of Bloodborne or just a simple metroidvania. In two sentences i've probably confused you. Good, now we're both on the same page. This is The Last Faith.
The Last Faith puts you in the shoes of Eryk. Eryk is a swell guy. He cares for everyone, questions little, never says a mean word and goes out of his way to help out hapless NPC's as well literal monsters. While everyone around him is content to compliment him on his combat prowess, Eryk thinks he's just a dude. Does that sound like the main character of a game that's basically 2D Bloodborne? It's a mismatch for the tone of the game and while it wasn't enough to take me out of the experience, I couldn't help but feel he belongs in another game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, maybe? He'd make a killing on the stalk market.

----------------------------------------------------------------

"2Blood, 2Blasphemous"

He's also afflicted with... something. And oh boy, when that something finally reveals itself it.. oh wait it doesn't ever fully reveal itself. This game's version of "souls" is called "Nycrux." Sigh. Can we just call them souls, please? For the love of the moon presence we don't need cute names for the currency with every souls-like. In typical souls-like fashion though the Nycrux is also what our character is afflicted by. I think. What does it do? No clue! Did I even pay attention to the story?! Dude I tried. I really did. The notes and item descriptions did little to help me piece together the story, unlike FromSoftware games. It's utterly non-sensical.
This game is VERY similar to Bloodborne. Unlike Elden Ring or the Souls series, you have health potions that do not refill upon death. You have to find them in the world or buy them. Just like Bloodborne. The same goes for ammo. This wasn't an issue. The game throws so many health potions at you and they're so cheap to buy I had nearly 200 at the end. Which begs the question, why even do this? Because Bloodborne did it? There's little tension in death when I have 15 heals and know I can easily go get 50 more in a matter of minutes.
Combat is standard fare but feels quite good. Let's take a look at some super cool bullet points!
Now lets talk about how this is as a metroidvania. Every area in the game features a myriad of locked doors, hidden alcoves and plenty of spikes to insta-kill you. There's a plethora of platforming segments and none of them are particularly difficult. You won't find the punishing difficulty of Aeterna Noctis or the intricate and rage inducing, but satisfying platforming of Blasphemous. Instead it's primarily ability based. You'll find quite a bit of fun to be had in gaining abilities and marrying the light platform sections with learning enemy patterns.
The mood and atmosphere in the game are absolutely superb, but the environments don't reflect this as well as they could have. You have your standard ice area and swamp area, but for the most part it's just houses and caves. For me, the pacing of when you get abilities varied wildly. Being a metroidvania, there are a number of zones to choose from and some you can miss entirely. Depending on your path you may find the game doles out abilities far too slowly and it just feels like you're not progressing.
I didn't even get one of the coolest abilities until right before the end because I just happened to miss a tiny path barely viable on the map that led to an entire zone. Because of course it did. When you play a metroidvania, these are the things you accept going in and it's what makes these games special. I do wish the game would have had a more set progression path for your abilities, however.
All in all, I enjoyed my time with The Last Faith. Part of me feels this would have been better off as just a metroidvania or Castlevania-like, but it does combat and movement well and has a top notch atmosphere. I recommend The Last Faith.
Some random things that didn't fit in the main body of the review.

2024.05.19 06:48 LargeAndScary AITAH for being upset after telling my partner to go to a party instead of joining me at a function I was obligated to go to?

The other day my partner and I were hanging out, as they are wont to do, and later in the evening I had to be at an art opening of a good friend of mine. We were both tired after a long day but I felt it my duty as a friend to go (I didn't not want to go, but it would have been a 3 hour drive to and from) and I wanted to support them. I am an artist as well, and openings are often overwhelming and kind of a drag, a sentiment my partner and I are both share, but this was one I felt I needed to go to, and I made mention of that a multiple days prior to my partner. I knew her agreement to go was reluctant, given her tepid response, so I told her "you're not obligated to go so don't feel like you should". She remained steadfast in her decision. Come the day, and I told her again, you really don't have to come but she got ready and was willing to tag along, basically to commiserate, but then she got a text from another friend of hers, a guy whom I've only met once, and I like well enough from what little I know, and hes her only friend out where she lives, Inviting her to a child's birthday party, and while I'm getting to my car I hear her audibly moan, and I ask her whats up, to which she tells me that this friend asked if she wanted to come to this party. For context, this party was like one of those cool adults with kids party, they had a DJ and all in an odd setting, in reality the makings of a could be fun, could be annoying situation. She had mentioned he texted her about this party earlier in the day and thought it would've been cool to go. Seeing how obviously she wanted to go to that party, I told her again, "You really don't have to go to this opening, if you want to go to this party you can.". She told me she wanted to come for support, considering how annoying openings can be, but really wanted to go to this party, and said she would rather go with me, but with an obvious tone of ambivalence. It was glaringly clear she wanted to go to that party, and while I would've enjoyed her company, I felt I'd rather her have fun that subject her to a potentially draining social affair, so I told her I wouldn't be mad if she went to the party. The sort of classic partner conundrum it felt like. I was convicted in my feeling of her doing her thing and I would just go and come back without her, and so that decision was made. She was to go to the party, and I would go to the opening. She asked me if I was fine with that decision and I told her yes, but I felt a little dismayed, and I knew my voice and face betrayed me from presenting otherwise. We parted ways and on the drive I gradually felt more and more bothered by her choosing to go to the children's party. I started over thinking a bunch of things, which felt more like anxious conclusions than logical reasoning, but I continued to get more and more upset that she chose that odd event than going to this opening with me. we haven't seen each other much lately due to the nature of her job, so I figured if I were in her position I would've gone to the opening regardless, but that's just me. either way, as I kept driving, I decided I would curb my social anxiety and just make it a good time no matter what, and yet I continued to get more and more upset by her decision. I think it stems from some deeper feeling about her relationship with this friend and choosing that over an event we both tend to loathe, and I did implore her to stay and have a better chance at a more entertaining evening. But I know in my heart of hearts I wished she would've come along with me, but I'm upset for not being more honest about it. Ultimately I ended up having a really lovely time with friends at the opening and at the after party but I wished my partner had come, and now I feel like a dick head being upset at her decision. I guess I just would like to get the temperature of how irrational I am probably being.

2024.05.19 06:21 Just_Mellow Coolbooter errors + Coolbooter CLI short guide + N1ghtshade Guide

The post is intended mainly for A6 (iPhone 5c) users, but I hope it may help many new users :)

Coolbooter 1.6

Basically, if something doesn’t work out for you, try downgrade to older versions, there seem to be no concrete solutions to the problems. Remember that you won’t be able to do this on an 8GB device.
- stuck at disk partition
You can try older versions of Cooboolter it maybe can help you. if you using kok3shiX, turn on the toggles "enable legacy patches" and "destroy sandbox containers" or just use h3lix jailbreak.
- stuck at [cb] loaded
Try older version and make sure you don't have a passcode.
- stuck at activation screen
As I understand you should use older version and try many times :,)

Coolbooter 1.5/1.4.1/Older

You can get the same error or cydia dead which is very difficult to fix if you are not an expert in this. You can try Coolbooter CLI using macos or whitererminal tweak :D maybe it’ll help you.
- task\_for\_pid error - re-jailbroke with h3lix instead of kok3shiX
- stuck at disk partition - give up or try coolboter cli

Coolbooter CLI

How to use Coolbooter CLI with Whiteterminal ?
All you need is install these two tweaks and enter the commands below in whiteterminal
  1. su - (gives root)
  2. alpine
  3. coolbootercli 8.4.1 --datasize 8GB -use-dpw (8.4.1 - version you want, 8GB - space for OS)
  4. Then open Coolbooter app and press Boot
If nothing works out for you, first try downgrade the tweak, also as I know iPhone 3Gs/4S(2014) don't work. Supported devices at the bottom.
- You don't have enough space error (there is enough) - try to downgrade Cydia Substrate tweak

Coolbooter repo not working?

  1. Visit this link in safari on your iDevice.
  2. Press "ISRG Root X1 CA (Let's Encrypt)"
  3. The website will take you to settings. Install the profile.
  4. Try to add Coolbooter repo again!
I advise everyone who has iOS below 10 to do this, it will allow many things to work a little better in Safari etc
Thx u/The_Lego_Maniac
Supported Coolbooter devices:
iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Mini 1G, and iPod Touch 5G.

N1ghtshade

  1. Using your Mac, download V1.0 and Release Candidate 3 of N1ghtshade.
  2. Download IPSW file, you can choose any version of iOS for your iDevice
  3. Open N1ghtshade V1.0, select Other and open Restore menu.
  4. Connect your iDevice and press Power + Home button for 10 seconds, release the Power button and keep holding the Home button 10 seconds to enable DFU mode.
  5. Select your IPSW file in Restore menu and wait until it's done.
  6. Open N1ghtshade Release Candidate 3, select Other and then open Jailbreak menu. You need to enable DFU mode again (point 4).
  7. Back to N1ghtshade V1.0 and select Boot Tethered, enable DFU mode and wait until it's done.

Be careful when installing the App Admin/App sync tweaks on iOS 7/8, half of your apps may be deleted

Legacy_IOS_Kit (tethered)

  4. Select Target IPSW which you have download here, you can choose any version of iOS for your iDevice
  5. Start operation, for the 1st question type n (don't jailbreak now) and then spam Enter.
  6. Run restore.sh again, select Jailbreak Device and spam Enter button for all questions until its done.
  7. Run restore.sh again :D and select Other Utilities (5), then Just Boot (6), spam Enter.
  8. Congratulations, you did it !
In this case, App Sync tweak works, I just checked. if you are an iPhone 5c user like me and you need this tweak I recommend this method, if you are a simple user n1ghtshade will be more convenient for you guys. All other A5 and A6 users are better downgrade untethered ofc. As I know for iPhone 5 my favourite iOS 8.4.1 your choice.

This guide kinda small and many people already know everything, but for new users I hope that it'll be useful. Write comments and I will gradually update post :)
Thanks to my beloved iPhone 5c, on which nothing works or installs and there are only errors around, I suffered a lot and I wanna save you from this dhaha, the hero of the occasion is the white and blue iPhone 5c, thank him, but after all its still my favourite iPhone. I strongly don’t recommend use Coolbooter on this device, it often completely refuses to work on many models. Tested on iPhone 5C 32GB (Global) and iPhone 5C 16GB (Global), both iOS 10.3.3. I recommend using n1ghtshade instead.

2024.05.19 06:05 Ok_Technician_7264 Want to understand my first love

I need to get inside the mind of someone that does this or understand this: My ex (first love who is now 27m) has been keeping up with my life on IG since we broke up 6 years ago. I keep in contact with his mom VIA Facebook, but other than that we don't talk at all. We last talked 3 years ago when we attempted to rekindle our relationship which went perfectly, but it's like he's scared of his own feelings so he disappeared and i had to confront him. Ended with both of us crying for different reasons. Still, I probably will always have a soft spot for him🤷🏾‍♀️ anyway, he is the very first person to like all my pictures and like all my post on my story. He doesn't actually use social media. He only has IG and uses for his business when necessary so he's never actually on it. No matter what time I post (2am, 4pm, 7:52am) he is the first to like it so I guess he gets notifications for my post? What the hell does that even mean? Why do that to someone you've let slip out of your life? I openly told him I'd take him back in a heartbeat since we broke up due his need to focus on his mental health at first. It was my choice to leave because he needed to get better. We tried 3 years later after he supposedly got better, but he didn't and I said he has a place in my life if he wants it as long as he focuses on getting better (i dont wanna go into detail about what better means). Idk...it's just weird. Why would he choose to watch me from afar? I would love to have him as my friend even. He's that important to me. I would like to understand the thought process here if anyone had any advice.
Im 26f now and I don't date since I'm in college and about to leave the country when I graduate so I'm not asking for dating purposes. I just want to understand if I can. Since I still hold a torch for this guy, I'd like understand him better. Thank you for reading🫶🏾
