Hi guys,
I am 29M, in Germany, and in 2022 and 2023 I got likes and matches but nowadays it's getting rarer and rarer. On average I get 1 like every 2nd day and 1 match every 4th day. I write Metalcore music and I've been trying to make an album for my project, feeling fairly confident having written a bunch of songs and releasing 4 to generally good reception.
I've got lots and lots of bad tracks behind me, which will most likely never see the light of day despite me spending lots of the little money I have having them mixed, etc.
Every so often, I'll make a really good song that I'm very proud of and release it. However, this is getting rarer and rarer, especially since setting the goal of an album (no deadline for myself though).
I sit down at my computer and write something once or twice a week. Even if it's not good, I'll get something down and work on it, but I can never seem to get anything good from it, which is super super frustrating.
Anyway, my question is: Does anyone have any tips for getting more consistent in creating songs that you're proud of? Is there something to do besides taking a huge break that can reset my creative thinking and make better songs? (This doesn't seem to work anyway)

First game is set in the world of the book I am writing. - Modified homebrew D&D 5e ruleset, to fit the magic system in the book. - Setting 1570-1620s level-technology, Similar setting to Europe / The Levant. - Just humans, animals and monsters. No elves or orcs, sorry. - I try to maintain a high degree of Plausible realism in everything. - Magic is present, but it is seen as rare, dangerous and exotic. - There might be some limitations on what type of character you can play. for instance: you probably have to be human, and you won’t start with magical abilities right away. - Your character might have a story related to the book, or it might not. Depends on what type or character you come up with :) - No heavy ERP in this game. This isn’t Sword of Truth, and I won’t sully my work with you perverts! ;). Tasteful could maybe be okay.

I (19f) was working at a privately owned clinic, working cash in hand as a receptionist. A week or so ago I left the job, because the hours I was working was affecting my grades as I am also at university.
About 4 days ago I asked for all the payment I was due for April and the beginning of may and it totalled up to 1.2K
My boss told me to come into the clinic for a chat but I did not want to see her so I told her I would prefer bank transfer(I usually get paid bank transfer anyways) and that I am not in the city at the moment.
A day after I say this she writes a message to me saying that I had “damaged the clinic property”. The sink had been broken in the kitchen for 4 weeks(we think it was from cleaners damaging it or from wear and tear) and we were using a bucket to dispose of leaking water. When disposing the full water bucket, I initially had thrown the water back into the broken sink and quickly put the bucket under to catch spilling water. I was told after that I should’ve used the toilet and from then I just used the toilet to get rid of the sink water.
The leaking sink was used by many other people and many times people would come down to say it has leaked everywhere. Due to this the floorboards started to break and they had to replace them However now that I had asked for my pay check of 1.2K she is blaming me for damaging the floorboards and sent me invoices of 5K(how much they paid to fix the floorboards)
I had told her that it was her responsibility to fix the sink from the beginning she found out it was broken, and her lack of care for that caused the floorboards to break - not me. I said I caused no damage and she said she is going to take legal action.
I am planning on speaking to ACAS tomorrow but please give any other advice for this situation. Also if there’s any quick solutions as I need the money and a lot of legal options take 6-12 months

One of the things i noticed is that 4o is a wildcat. It can even start to chase its own tail after a while.
Something that I do in order to maximize efficiency is ask 4o to answer me every time in a binary format first before it vomits all over me and overexerts itself in the process.
After I prompt 4o with code that needs to be fixed, i ask 4o to answer me either:

A: I know EXACTLY how to solve this problem and can walk you through it step by step with full code snippets, no placeholders, and robust print and flash debug error logging, are you ready to proceed? or B: I need more information before i can know EXACTLY how to solve this problem. 

And just as a side note, i used claude.ai pro to write my prompts for 4o.

I (19f) was working at a privately owned clinic, working cash in hand as a receptionist. A week or so ago I left the job, because the hours I was working was affecting my grades as I am also at university.
About 4 days ago I asked for all the payment I was due for April and the beginning of may and it totalled up to 1.2K
My boss told me to come into the clinic for a chat but I did not want to see her so I told her I would prefer bank transfer(I usually get paid bank transfer anyways) and that I am not in the city at the moment.
A day after I say this she writes a message to me saying that I had “damaged the clinic property”. The sink had been broken in the kitchen for 4 weeks(we think it was from cleaners damaging it or from wear and tear) and we were using a bucket to dispose of leaking water. When disposing the full water bucket, I initially had thrown the water back into the broken sink and quickly put the bucket under to catch spilling water. I was told after that I should’ve used the toilet and from then I just used the toilet to get rid of the sink water.
The leaking sink was used by many other people and many times people would come down to say it has leaked everywhere. Due to this the floorboards started to break and they had to replace them However now that I had asked for my pay check of 1.2K she is blaming me for damaging the floorboards and sent me invoices of 5K(how much they paid to fix the floorboards)
I had told her that it was her responsibility to fix the sink from the beginning she found out it was broken, and her lack of care for that caused the floorboards to break - not me. I said I caused no damage and she said she is going to take legal action.
I am planning on speaking to ACAS tomorrow but please give any other advice for this situation.

Hello everyone 🙋 I am a non-EU/EEA citizen who is currently working as a Data Scientist in the field of Medical Imaging, and now I am again in a dilemma about whether I should apply for a PhD or go for 2nd Master's.
Allow me to set some context :
I finished my Master's on a high, and wanted to get into the field of research (specifically innovative research). There was clarity in my mind about the fact that before going proper research positions, I needed to improve my profile further and also needed to get some industrial experience to see what problems are trying to be solved and to see what goes into meeting current global standards. My original plan was to do this and later seek out PhD positions. But, after speaking with multiple people (family and colleagues) who had either finished their PhD or dropped or thought about it decided not to go, I decided that it'd be wise for me to actually get to know the place, the people and the professors whom I would be working with. There is a particular aspect within AI that I want to do research in and was able to identify a professor in Ratsch lab whose interests very much align with mine. However, I feel like there still a few things in Deep Learning that I have not studied academically, such as Real Analysis, which is foundational to DL, so I was still leaning towards doing a Master's and gaining that confidence.
I am hesitant again, because I am unsure if I will be accepted into a Master's program at all given my background. My Bachelor's wasn't great AT ALL. It was essentially a general degree that I picked, which had a mix of management, commerce and programming. This is where I discovered that I have no aptitude for the management and commerce world. My thing was computers. I re-evaluated my options in the following year, and that is when I discovered Data Science and AI. It was love at first sight and I didn't care about the job prospects or anything, I just went for it. My Master's was again a general Master's but it was great, I finished with a CGPA of 9.38/10 and topped my batch along with getting to work on some NLP (DL) projects under a professor there. Since then, I have been listed as an inventor for a patent, had a poster published in ECR and will have another published in RSNA soon. Also working on solving a novel problem at my company.
I intended on applying for a Masters in Data Science(2025) in 2024 end, but based on what I have read in many places, ETH doesn't seem to give a lot of weightage to most of the good stuff on my CV, making me feel a little dejected. I am preparing for GRE at the moment in an attempt to bolster my profile and I think I have a genuine and concrete Motivation letter.
Should I just write to the professor and try for PhD instead? Or does a Master's still make sense? Are there any other options? I have looked at University of Amsterdam which seems relatively promising. I am looking for a multi-disciplinary approach to AI, so a philosophical understanding along with strong technical details when it comes to mathematics.

I must begin with saying the universe ending made me incredibly emotional throughout the whole ending. I took the time with all the Hearthians and told them all to wait. I couldn't dare to skip the credits (later I discovered I anyway couldn't 😅). It's kind of crazy how I knew what to do with the warp core almost instantaneously. At least I was right about the project being the most secret place. I now understand why people want to forget playing this game to go through it again, and I totally relate to that feeling because getting the ending again is not even remotely close to the first time. I will never forget it.
Even though I ended up requiring some hints (here [early-middle spoilers] and here [late spoilers]) that I was using sparingly by unlocking one hint at a time and squeezing it for a few hours, I still feel like I figured it out on my own and was able to preserve the charm with little to no harm. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me by writing creative gradual hints that still left room for my interpretation (especially u/Shadovan).
However, I know it's not over. I think I missed significant parts of information and am yet to discover more than 2 endings (Huge spoilers):

1. Dying forever with the advanced warp core in my hand (I literally meditated 😅)
2. Using the advanced warp core at The Vessel

My ship log looks almost complete but doesn't feel like one.
I have a complete segment disconnected from the rest, and I feel like I can add a few more pieces to the existing colored puzzles.
I have a strong feeling that I need to talk to at least one more person(?) because I heard if you don't talk to Solanum, they don't participate in the main ending (and I am really glad they did, and Feldspar ❤️and Esker too and really all of them).
I have a few significant things that I haven't really figured out, like the Gravity Cannons, Shuttles and especially The Interloper which unlocked a whole new segment disconnected from anything I understand well. I feel like it must connect back.
I have a theory of the shuttle being able to reach the Quantum Moon because normally it doesn't go anywhere, and I saw one at the Quantum Moon (which I guess is Solanum's?). I tried to take a picture of the moon so that the shuttle has a destination but it looked like I was doing it incorrectly because pointing at Nomai text inside the shuttle kills the image. I'd also love to find a way to reach the eye without killing the time loop.
I tried playing around with the advanced warp core to cause a different ending, by taking it to the black hole (since it has tiny black and white holes), High Energy Lab (it doesn't fit) and the observatory since I thought the Hearthians would have something to say, but it only got me an achievement (nice). I also tried setting the locator on the Attlerock to the eye and then completing the game normally, to emphasize the eye being found (since the clever Solanum assumed it may not want to be found). If I could go back to The Vessel, perhaps I would put the advanced warp core back and then try to visit the eye. Was any of this close to something?
Since The Interloper unlocked a new segment, I assume there is more to discover there. I know it is the source of Ghost Matter, and that's about it. I couldn't find more cracks in the ice.
I am looking for a gentle direction, with somewhat vague hints to preserve the charm.

°Good night, sleep well.° The human answered and began to slowly wander the compounds of Mor´s mind just looking. Which for Mor was somehow soothing and let him quickly drift off into sleep. But as sleep took him, so did the nightmares, and while he tossed and turned in subconscious movement, the human watched. Watched the nightmares, watched the boy, who will be his other self from now on, watched what the four bullies did to him, and felt a protective rage. °Those asshats will pay. This ends, right now.° the human promised the sleeping Mor.
The next morning Mor acquired some writing implements and got to write his punishment essay. While the Human was backseat writing or more backseat questioning.
°Ah, so if you use a spell, where your magic is insufficient you could die, because the missing magic energy will be subsidized with a thing you call "live energy", but those energies are more or less the same, just that the "live energy" is the magic energy getting held back for your basic functions. But wouldn´t that mean, if you trained your basic strength and endurance that your magic energy would also get stronger? But then why do the elderly have more energy than someone in their prime?°
°Could you please shut up, I need to concentrate. I don´t want to write it again. And I told you that is not how it works! Also, why would training your strength do anything? You have your body and that's it. What would you even do, to "train" a body? It´s stupid.° Mor complained.
°Wait! Is that why everyone I saw is so scrawny? You have no concept of training your body? It´s just "I have to be born right, or I can´t use the fancy pants spells I read in a book", for all of you?! How did your kin survive until now? What about hunting for food or gathering, what about natural predators?° The human exclaimed.
°What stupid question is this now, we grow our crops and everything here on our floating islands, why should we hunt or whatever? You cast a spell and all the fruits get neatly gathered where you want them. This has always been that way.° Mor explained while continuing to write.
°That´s idiotic.° The human interrupted.
°Shut it!° Mor shushed the human.
The rest of the evening was spent in silence, but just before lights out the human spoke up again.
°Got an idea how we will deal with those bullies of yours?°
°No... I don´t even want to think about that.° Mor confessed. °But it probably can´t be avoided, best get to it then. The biggest problem is Zaletha, with her illusion magic, but the last time it somehow failed. Maybe it has something to do with you? Because you have no fear of her, I was also protected? Illusion magic is strange like that, you need some kind of emotional power over your target, or it has a big chance of failing. If that is the case, then it will not take long for Ranbor to escalate their abuse. He somehow really hates me.°
°Yeah, seemed like it. Any idea why? Well, it doesn´t really matter. Still, then we need a good plan to deal with them it´s four against two, and I can´t talk to anyone but you. So more like four against one and a half? But if this girl needs to have some kind of hold against me, she will be shit out of luck. The problem then is they may do something else to keep you in line. Maybe trying to intimidate you with more physical means.° Human mused.
°Then they would get into a problem with the school because attacking another student with magic is against the rules.° Mor interjected.
°But what would stop them from claiming it was an accident while helping you train? The best thing we could do would probably ignore them and if they don´t get the hint we just loudly declare, that we don´t want to have anything to do with them.° This got Mor thoughtful. °That might work, but most might not understand, why we would not want to have anything to do with them, because it would be helpful for my social standing to liaise with the nobility.° And the human agreed. °Yes, let´s try this. What could go wrong?°
Agreeing on this plan of action, their talk went to other subjects until Mor decided it was time to sleep and rest. They would resume talking the next day, and it would again be Human to ask the first question.
°Could we use the time, while we are stuck here, for you to explain to me how exactly this magic is working?°
°Yes of course.° Mor answered. °Firstly as you already know, to cast a spell you need magic energy, but that is only the first step, you have to afterward concentrate on guiding those energies or the spell can fail. Secondly, while there are some continuous spells they are hard to upkeep, for you have to concentrate on the energy continuously. Because of that spells like body enhancement or elemental puppet spells are almost impossible for single mages.
Body enhancement more so, because a flesh and blood body is more complicated to move, by the limits of how the energy can flow. Therefore most mage teams would fall back on an elemental puppet if they needed someone to keep their enemy at a distance. But those are last option things, best to deal with anything at range of your instantaneous spells.° He explained.
°It would be really cool if we could pull something like that off, it would be something like a secret trump card.° Human joked.
°Yes it would, but how could we even start to pull something like that off, firstly the energy cost would be far too much for me and you would somehow be able to control the body or guide the magic energy and that is impossible. In the stories, the bound elemental only supplied the mage with more energy and affinities.° Mor retorted.
°That´s why I meant it as a joke. But still, the surprise on the faces of the other mages probably would be really funny. If it is true it is impossible for a single mage. Still, I think I got it, it is best to use those instantaneous spells, because you can just fire and forget them, or start casting the next one. How much concentration is required to keep a spell up?° The human asked.
°It depends on the spell, but it ranges from, almost nothing to completely occupying your attention. For example, letting a fire spell go on, would be on the lowest distraction level, while guiding an elemental puppet would be the highest.° Mor explained.
°Ok, got it.° But still the human got thinking because for them something felt off.
Mor used the time of quiet to finish his punishment report and catch up on the stuff from the missed lessons. So while the human brooded over the pieces of information, Mor got himself back on track with his studies with sporadic help from Miss Amethyne. Like this two more days have gone by and Mor was finally released from the infirmary, as good as new, according to the healing adept. But only Mor and his new partner knew, how close "new" was to the truth. Still, Mor had this bad feeling about the almost inevitable confrontation with his tormenters he would with almost perfect certainty end up in. He hoped with all his heart, that the strategy of himself and the human would work as they planned.
The next morning on the way to class, of course, it happened and he heard the call from behind him. "Hey peasant, finally up again, you have to make up for your laziness now." "Ranbor..." Mor sighed.
"Hey you worthless pawn, what kind of reaction is this? Is this how your parents raised you? Seems someone has to teach you respect of your betters again." Ranbor exclaimed and slowly Mor turned around. "Excuse me, your lordship, I believe the presence of someone of so lowly standing is no fitting company for someone as illustrious as yourself. But where sire is your noble retinue? It does not do for someone as royally important as yourself to be without them. Should I go and tell someone to summon them for you?" Mor replied trying to keep the sarcasm out of his voice, as the human in his mind giggled.
°Good one!° They not so helpfully added.
"You´re going too far this time!" Ranbor furiously stated, his ruby eyes glowing balefully with magic energy. But Mor just shrugged, turned around, and left. °Are your eyes also this creepy? It looks to me that you only have a black pupil and the rest is in whatever colour.° The human questioned Mor. °Is that different where you are from? In most cases the color fits the family, so Ranbor of course has ruby red, and mine would be of more an agate green-blue disposition.° Mor answered. °Nope, we have white, then a colored ring around the pupil.° The answer came back until they heard Ranbor behind them raising his voice. "Don´t turn your back on me, you worthless peasant!"
Which in turn led the human to giggle again °He is really creative with his curses. I diagnose a lack of intelligence.° That in turn was too much for Mor as he could not suppress an amused snort. "You´re not laughing at me!" Ranbor raged and as Mor turned around to address that pompous ass, he only saw the red and yellow of a fireball that was flying right toward him.
He felt the heat lick his skin, and the shock of the force and fury of the attack let his mind blackout. While the enclosing darkness would protect him from the pain of burning, he knew that this was too much and his end. The last thing he heard was the voice of his partner going. °Holy shit! OK, that´s interes....°

Just curious. I've lurked on here a bit and see a lot of thoughtful responses coming from dismayed people.
I graduated around 20 years ago with a media studies degree. I initially started out as an art major, but switched out after ending up in a really bad graphic design course. The teacher basically walked around, didn't give real feedback, no critiques, no resources. I was interested, but wasn't particularly talented. Just....had a good eye, like a lot of people do. Loved the art history. But as far as GD, I felt like I was working very hard to come up with concepts while actually producing very little of value. Nothing I was particularly proud of. I didn't want to be another cookie cutter designer at best.
Yet it was kind of a hard decision. Fortunately, the school I transferred to also had hands-on multimedia courses under the media studies program so I got my creative fix, and I wanted to work on websites anyway. The idea of doing impractical studio art courses was weighing me down, and I was finally free of that.
I've had a lot of bad, underpaid jobs myself over the years, but also a lot of great (and well known) clients. Mostly doing content management (boring, too easy), front end coding (exhausting at times), some writing/editing, a fair amount of Photoshop for the web. But I really didn't start getting paid decently until after age 30. Y'all are not alone.
I think a few years ago, I was finally at peace and happy with my college decision. I was back at a real gig after the pandemic and learned that my product owneproject manager boss was making the mockups in Figma. No real background in design. I used Canva for a few things. I even watched a talented designer get laid off and openly worry about money.
Design doesn't seem to be a valued field anymore, unless maybe you move up and play nice in a corporate setting where people will pay you decently and value your input. Of course, it takes a certain person to do that, and I don't think most truly creative folks fit the bill.
However, neither does front-end development, especially with AI growing in popularity. I'm scared of the prospect of less remote work, more competition for remote work, and more 'creative project manager / producer' jobs/tasks ....with all the annoying software that comes with it.
