Professor is impossible, we block him from controlling the curriculum.

2024.05.19 18:04 DawnShakhar Professor is impossible, we block him from controlling the curriculum.

I posted this before, and it was popular, but as soon as I added identifying details it was thrown out. So here it is again, without identification.
This is more retribution than revenge, but it's still...
When I was studying for an M.A. in Psychology, we had to take one of two courses: advanced statistics (conventional statistics, boring as boring can be) or a course in a kind of alternate analysis. The second course was given by a professor who had developed a brilliant method for tabulating variables and defining predicted relationships between them and I chose his course. Wrong move. While the guy was brilliant, he was also megalomanic and nasty. He spent most of the lectures badmouthing conventional statistics and rarely taught anything. His T.A. weren’t very good at answering questions, and writing papers for the course was a nightmare.
One of the things the professor was hung up on was language – he had invented terms for the elements of his theory (some of them were invented words, some of them were common words that he gave new meanings) and insisted on using them - and woe betide any student who tried to use his/her own words to explain the concepts! During one lecture, he spouted a sentence full of his terms – common words but with his meaning – and most of the class didn’t understand what on earth he meant. (Incidentally, I was one of the few who did understand). A student raised his hand, said he didn’t understand and asked the lecturer to repeat it. The professor repeated what he had said word for word. Ths student said he still didn’t understand. The Professor barked out: “do you know what X means? Do you know what Y means?” etc (X and Y being the words he used). The student said “I understand each word, but I still don’t understand the sentence, could you explain it in other words?” The professor exploded: “These are scientific terms, there are no other words”. I raised my hand, he called me (his mistake) and I said: “Excuse me, but this course is required for M.A. students of Psychology and Sociology. The students here are M.A. students of Psychology and Sociology. If most of us don’t understand, there must be another way to explain it”. The Professor turned DARK PURPLE – I thought he was having a heart attack - but he went to the blackboard, drew a sketch and explained and everyone understood.
By the end of the year, I failed the course. Not that I didn’t understand – but I insisted on using my own words, and that was unacceptable. Next year I took the conventional statistics course.
After that year when I failed, I went to the head of the Psychology department, and reported. I said that it was unacceptable that a required course was one that was given so badly, and graded so unfairly. He asked me to interview other students about the course and write him a report – it could be anonymous. Some students were afraid to express their concerns (he was very powerful at the University) but I got a long list of complaints, and wrote a detailed report – problems with the course, problems with the T.A., problems with the assignments. And I signed it and handed it in.
Two other students were braver than me. They wrote an open letter: “If you want to be insulted all year. If you want to hear one gospel from the teacher and the opposite one from the T.A. etc. etc. This course is for you!”
And they signed it, and hung it up on the bulletin board. Other students added their signatures and endorsements.
Well - the course wasn’t removed. But I found out that the professor had insisted on his course being made compulsory for all Psychology students, and with his clout at the university he would have succeeded. However, due to our protests, his demand was blocked. At least half a win.
By the way, his method was BRILLIANT! I used it countless times over my years working in research support, and even consulted with him. He either didn't know or didn't remember that I had snitched on him...

2024.05.19 15:41 JulioFoolio013 From an SM’s point of view…

Hello all you DG people! After scrolling and reading, I have decided to make my own post.
To all you new hires: I wish you good luck, there are good stores(still pretty shitty though) and there are terrible stores. I say hold the job till you find something better, but don’t forget to document all that goes on in your store when it comes to your higher ups.
To the customers who are a part of this sub Reddit: hi there! As you can see, there’s a dark side to the store that tries to promote being there for the community. I hope you don’t take this to heart as we employees are trying our best to help and get things done to make the store look better
Onto the main event: I’ve been an SM for 3 months(May not seem like much but it has felt like 6) and I completely skipped the ASM position to be put into this one, as I’ve been with DG a little less than a year. As I’ve finally been in this position of authority, it’s also broadened my perspective of the company. I work with a good team, and our store does pretty well for itself. I see that most people quit, for fair reasonings, and even I’m looking at different opportunities because of the way they set their priorities. I was never taught how salary works, but after realizing what it’s like, I now see why people don’t like salary unless they’re in a better position with better pay. Their training program for the SM position was pretty much a two day CBL nightmare, and barely any hands on training. I basically taught myself on everything besides what the CBL’s highlighted and I believe I’m doing it right(I have no idea and I haven’t been chewed out by higher ups yet) but we will see. One thing I must add, is that if you’re sick, or ill, go home. They’ll try to have you stay and work even if you’re sick to “save face” and look good in front of others, but there’s only so much one can take when they’re sicker than a dog. I only know this because my significant other had gotten me sick, and I tried pushing myself to work, but I nearly didn’t make it to close with the fever I had(102 something degrees) and they still didn’t care. I had to use vacation hours to get an extra day off for recovery, but they wanted me to try and make up the hours two days before payroll was supposed to be done, which was never explained to me until the week after. This company wants to work you like no tomorrow, and not really pay you. If you complain or whine or moan, they’ll give you a bunch of empty promises to keep you on board. The more “childish”you act(mainly looking out for yourself), there’s two ways it can go either 1: you get special treatment because either the SM or the DM believes you’re valuable or 2: you get shitcanned because they don’t see you as someone they want to keep. So my DG people, I give you this hint of advice. Two weeks is “customary” but not required if you’re looking to never return, so for those At Will employment state workers, you can terminate yourself and you don’t have to give them a reason(but I bet you knew that already) BUT your employer could do the same thing to you and that’s usually what’s highlighted when you look it up. My best advice on if you should stay or go? Stay if you’re beginning to see improvement within the workplace. Go if you know that it isn’t worth staying. You’re only human, and there’s only so much you can do on any particular day or even week. Get out while you still can, and don’t hesitate to go over an SM’s head when it comes to internal conflicts. Remember to document it all, keep your clock in/out sheets, and take screenshots of your schedule changes especially if they’re way too late. I wish you all luck, even if you decide to stay, but there’s always going to be a better opportunity for you guys if you take the step towards it, mainly that step is out the door of a DG, to never return, and be happy for once.

2024.05.19 14:35 apple_6392 Guys, pa advice please. Gusto kona kasi mag resign sa work.

Gusto kona kasi mag resign sa work pero wala pa akong lilipatan.
Sobrang toxic na sa workplace ko. At pakiramdam ko hindi na ako welcome. Wala na rin akong peace of mind. Yung boss ko pinag iinitan ako kasi sumasama daw ako sa mga kontra sakanya. Pag bago ka daw bawal ka humindi. Dapat magpalakas ka. Hindi kona kaya tong environment na to.
Gusto kona mag resign!
Ganun ba talaga? Pag bago kelangan mag palakas? Kelangan wag humindi?
May better plans naman siguro si Lord sakin no? Kung sakaling magreresign ako? Ayoko na po 😭

2024.05.19 14:24 FiveFrights CPG × FF × 3D FredWare Studios × ??? - FNaB 5

This collaboration project between CommonPresent Games, Five Frights, 3D FredWare Studios, and an anonymous music producer have all collaborated to make the ultimate conclusion to the Five Nights at Bingo's games.
Explore the abandoned Bar & Grill that was said to be nothing but an urban legend... 55 years after it's closing.
Your name is Cory. You go to explore the ruins, inviting your friends Clyde and Jack to come along with you.
A large sinkhole has formed underneath the building in the show stage, leaving the place in ruins and mostly caving in, especially in the middle of it.
INTRODUCTION CINEMATIC
You arrive there at 11:30 PM, and you text Clyde and Jack to come. They say that they will be there by 12:00 AM. You then walk in, and you explore the place, and then you enter the security office at 11:59 AM. You then get a text from Clyde saying that he is almost there, and that he gave Jack a ride, as well.
NIGHT 1 - It is now officially 12:00 AM. The building has entered it's lockdown state, not letting anyone or anything get in.. or out. You run to look at your phone, and then you very quickly connect it to the barely functioning security cameras in the building, and once you go onto the Show Stage camera, you will see Moltenstein emerge from the old sinkhole, who is a melted together fusion of the extremely rotted Bingo and Blossom animatronics.
DIALOGUE: What even was that thing?! I have to get out of here! This bulletin board right here says that lockdowns can take 14-21 days to end?! 14-21 DAYS?! It's okay.. I can do this. I brought my portable wireless charger for my phone. I just need to get that.. thing... away from me.
Moltenstein will sometimes appear at one of your doorways. You have a left doorway, a right doorway, and an opened ceiling vent. Turn off your phone's flashlight if you see it, in order to get it not to kill you, and activate a nearby camera's flashlight in order to attract it towards that camera's location.
There are only 6 functioning cameras. They are all the Show Stage, New Lobby, Left Hall Entrance, Right Hall Corner, and the Dining Area.
The Show Stage is where Moltenstein will emerge from. It will then make it's way towards the New Lobby, Left Hall Entrance, or the Dining Area.
The Dining Area's camera is broken, forcing it to face the right side hallway, where there is a vent entrance nearby.
All of the cameras have an internal flashlight that was applied during the investigation of the premises right before it's closing. These internal flashlights all work surprisingly well on the still functional cameras, and they are good for attracting light sensitive animatronics nearby. Moltenstein is very, very sensitive to bright lights.
Your phone's flashlight will always be on by default. Hold down CTRL in order to shut off your phone's flashlight, making it incredibly hard to see, but stopling Moltenstein from killing you, and sometimes even making it leave.
Your phone will lose 1% battery power every 2 seconds (you instead will lose 1% of your phone's battery power every 5 seconds whenever your flashlight is turned off..). Using a camera's internal flashlight will make it lose an extra 3% of it's battery power.. immediately. You can recharge it to get an extra 35% but this takes roughly 5 seconds to do......
NIGHT 2 - Ugh.. I need to get out of here! I am starting to see things. I can't do this anymore, come on!! Why me??? It's whatever.. Clyde and Jack called me this morning, and they said that they were worried. I told them about my situation, and they said that they have notified the authorities, but they didn't believe them. Those people really think that this place is fake. How funny of them...
Memory Citrus and Memory Lizzy can now be seen. These are just hallucinations, however. If you ever see the original Citrus flying through the Dining Area, put down your phone quickly, or Memory Citrus will jumpscare you, causing for you to throw your phone onto the ground in panic, attracting Moltenstein towards the light, giving him a 20% chance to kill you after somewhere in betweenn 7.26310-8.54790 secondssss.
If you ever see the original Lizzy standing in the middle of the lobby, put your phone down quickly, otherwise Memory Lizzy will appear floating in front of both of your doorways, and all of your cameras, making you unable to see them, all while you lose 1% of your power every 0.552 seconds. This effects lasts.. just about..... 10 seconds. And yes, this does cause your phone's flashlight to glitch out as well, luring Moltenstein to your location.
NIGHT 3 - This has to be the last night.. Surely the police have realized that I have very suddenly gone missing... Right? Please, just let this end. No more!
Memory Buttercup can now sometimes appear in one of your doorways. Shine your phone's flashlight at her in order to make her go away, or else, she will jumpscare you very suddenly, causing for you to have a heart attack.. and... well, die.
Memory Caesar and Memory Chuck seek to both be always found together now, and they can now sometimes appear in one of your doorways. Pull out your phone and look at it in order to deter them away from the security office that you are hiding inside of.
NIGHT 4 - Hey, hey! It's me, Jack! I just wanted to tell you that Clyde called the police... yet again.. and now they are starting to take us WAY more seriously! They said that they are attempting to locate your phone.. But it needs to stay charged up to at least 50% from now (12 AM) up until 6 AM, or we will not able to locate you, AND YOU WILL DIE. You gave us the wrong directions for what reason, anyway, you idiot?!
If your phone's battery drops down below 50%, you will be immediately just.. killed by Moltenstein.
NIGHT 5 - Hey, hey! It's me, Jack! We got your location! The police are headed there, now... Let's go, man! You're gonna make it home, by tonight!!! But.. You need to stop yourself from using the camera's built-in internal flashlights. Apparently, the cameras share a union power generator system, hence why they still work, and they only have about.. 8 charges left. It is pretty crazy, actually, right??? So just.. be careful, dude. Bye, now!!!,,,
If you use the camera flashlights 8 times, they will be disabled, and Moltenstein will be immediately teleported to your door, and he will kill you after approximately 2.5-3.5 seconds.
NIGHT 6 - Listen, man. I'm sorry, okay? But you entering that establishment has awakened and set free the mess in there, and I cannot afford to be chased down by that thing... You see, my grandpa was at that place for a re-evaluation of it's safety.. for... an incident. And that was not even his first time there! I'm sorry.. But you will not be making it out of there alive. I have released an overwhelming amount of a special secret gas recipe into the building, causing your hallucations to feel the most real possible, meaning that they have a 50-50 chance of giving you a heart attack and.. well, kill you. I also adjusted the union power usage to only allow for 6 camera flashes, and.. now, you must also always keep your phone charged. You can NOT recharge it. Have fun, Cory.
(This night ends at 4 AM, as the police and Clyde will break into the building and save you at that time.. exactly.)
ALL ENDINGS
Good Ending - During Nights 1-5, keep your phone's battery above 30%, and do not ever use any more then 6 camera flashes in each night. This will give you access to the Old Lobby, where you will find Buttercup, Citrus, Lizzy, Caesar, Chuck, and an unused Endoskeleton during the Night 6 Escape Scene. You will then get the option to scrap or take with you each and every single one of them as you walk up to them, letting them rest now as nothing but legends if you scrap them all. You will then see a scene of Jack getting trapped inside of the building, right as you guys escape...
Bad Ending - Follow Jack's instructions, and leave with Clyde and the police on Night 6 without making any discoveries. You will then see a scene of Jack escaping the building, right as you guys escape...
Happy Ending (Canon) - During Nights 1-5, keep your phone's battery above 30%, and do not ever use any more then 6 camera flashes in each night. This will give you access to the Old Lobby, where you will find Buttercup, Citrus, Lizzy, Caesar, Chuck, and an unused Endoskeleton during the Night 6 Escape Scene. You will then get the option to scrap or take with you each and every single one of them as you walk up to them, but if you take them all with you, you will then see the location rebuilt with the recovered and repaired Bingo, Blossom, Citrus, Buttercup, Lizzy, Caesar, Chuck, and the brand new Tropico The Toucan animatronics. Tropico The Toucan is an amazing newly built counterpart friend for the now happy Citrus The Toucan animatronic character.
We will be collaborating on FNaB 6, just as we did with this game, to introduce the continuation to the game series, and it's amazing and wonderfully unique storyline. We have amazing plans for this next entry of the series, and they will all be shared on here.. very, very soon.

2024.05.19 07:59 Pretty-Avocado4914 Is it Possible to Claim PTSD my Civilian Job caused when retaliating for my Military Service

Hi All, long time lurker, just wrote up a post but somehow it vanished while typing. I used the search and the sub knowledge base but didn't see my question. Looking for some guidance/advice or a success story.
I recently went to a Veterans Center to see if I was eligible for counseling. While there, I shared some traumatic experiences over my 30 year Army Reserve career. The Advisor encouraged me to file a claim for PTSD/Anxiety/Depression.
I retired from the Army Reserve in 2013. In 2008, I was promoted and, that summer, received orders for a 6 week qualification course for my new position. When I returned to my civilian job, my supervisor and manager retaliated in every way possible, making the workplace and life a living hell. My primary care doc knew what was going on and prescribed antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds just so I could get through the workday and not harm anyone or myself. In Jan 2010, my supervisor and manager did something that caused me to have a total stress breakdown. My doctor took me out of work and referred me to the outpatient psych clinic. I was in a really bad way and remained out of work and taking meds and getting treatment for almost 2 years. I won't bore you with all the details, but I was pissed that I burned all my vacation and sick accruals for something they could have prevented. I filed a worker's comp claim which my employer challenged and I won. The judge wrote in the decision, "There is disparate treatment... because she serves in the Army Reserves...She was singled out and harassed due to her military service... her supervisor retaliated against her because she took military leave in 2008... (she) was exposed to a pattern of harassment and retaliation due to her Army Reserves service and an increased level of stress..."
I have a load of civilian medical records related to this, and I believe the psychotherapist (PhD) that I saw for 3+ years would write a nexus letter for me but according to everything I've read, I'm not sure I have a "nexus" to connect PTSD to the military. I was IN the military, and what happened at my job was because I was fulfilling my military obligation, but can I actually make a "service connection" if the stressor occurred at the hands of my civilian employer and not actually the Army? How might that read?
I had stress in my military position-- I lost a deployment opportunity and my records landed in front of a retention board and they were going to chapter me out because of my psych profile, causing me to fear I'd lose my Army career and pension. I was stressed out all the time worrying that I'd be asked to do any additional or special duty outside of drill weekends (my position required a lot of travel) due to fear of how my civilian employer would react or retaliate if I presented orders. When confidentiality was broken and my psych profile/issues were revealed to Soldiers not in my reporting chain, that led to a lot of embarrassment probably other things I'm forgetting.
Is there any hope I might be able to make a nexus-worthy connection between my service and my PTSD/Anxiety/Depression diagnoses when the stressor(s) actually primarily occurred in the civilian workplace?
Thank you!

2024.05.19 05:51 PhillusPhiltheThird How to join the union WITHOUT going through a manager?

I've asked so many times over my 2 months working here to join the union. I was told when I was hired someone would contact me about it and they never did.
I've asked my department manager, the hiring manager, the store manager, and even though they say they'll talk to the union rep I still haven't been contacted. Is there a way I can find the phone number of my stores union rep or something because obviously nobody higher up at my store has the brain capacity to actually do it for me.
I know we have a bulletin board so it MIGHT be on there (i'll check when im on shift next), but finding it before then would be helpful.

2024.05.19 05:36 Slavic-Viking Union activities email from departmental Labour Relations re: RTO

Has anyone else received an email from their departmental LR team asking them to report any union job activities to the LR team? I got an email like that last week, and it just feels... wrong.
I asked my director for comments, but haven't heard back yet.
Edit to add email text:
Hello,
In light of the 3-day onsite requirement as per the revised Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace, job action and various forms of union activity are expected to ramp up this summer and fall. Job action is any activity, campaign, etc., undertaken by one or more bargaining agents in the pursuit of its bargaining position and/or lobbying efforts against government/employer policy. Possible job actions may include:
Rallies Desk dropping of information Leaving literature or paraphernalia in the workplace for employees to take Information pickets outside of employer’s premises Sick-out Use of social media Use of union provided backgrounds (for example, wallpapers or Teams backgrounds) Wearing of buttons, t-shirts, hats
Furthermore, we have been made aware that rallies may occur. It is the Treasury Board Secretariat’s position that leave for union business provisions are not applicable for participating in a rally and requests for such leave should be denied. Should employees want to participate in the activities, they may do so outside their hours of work. Employees may also wish to request leave such as annual or compensatory leave which may be approved pursuant to the provisions of the collective agreement.
Please note that NRCan’s unions are not in a legal strike position. As such, it is important to report any activity as soon as possible to the Labour Relations Centre of Expertise.

2024.05.19 03:28 Unusual_Laugh_5856 I hope this is appropriate for the message board, but I wanted to to write this after a post I read. In regards to our name tags and creepy old men using them to call us by our name.

I'm a 53 year old man. I was a CPA for close to 30 years. My partner died September 2023, and it was suggested that I take a job doing anything that would get me out of the house. I had always had an affinity for Trader Joe's and thankfully they took a chance on hiring me and I love it. It's honestly been very important to my mental health.
To my point, I am a gay man, but apparently I don't "seem" gay, whatever that means. People have told me that my whole adult life.
When I started working at Trader Joe's almost everybody was so kind - with the exception of some young women in their early 20s or so. I didn't understand why they didn't seem to like me, I am relatively soft spoken and always polite. I make an effort to keep conversation as neutral as possible particularly in the workplace. Despite that, it was as if the young women were scared of me, or at least annoyed. When I was on CE they would tell me they didn't want me bagging for them and they had it covered.
In retrospect, I feel like such an idiot for not putting it all together.
About a month in, after somebody saw me at a local coffee shop frequented by gay guys the word got out that I was gay. I had never hidden this it's just that nobody asked.
Within two shifts, I had suddenly become a sort of fun, adorable character. These young women who previously didn't want anything to do with me we're now asking for hugs and telling me that I had "such cute dad energy". I was invited to one of the young women's birthday party.
I am making this way too long, but in short once it was found out that I was gay I was suddenly likable to these people. I actually learned just this week that prior to this revelation two separate young women had requested that I not work them during the same product hour. Apparently I talked too much and I was creepy.
Until it was revealed that I was actually just an old old gay guy.
This is so shitty and unfortunate on so many levels.
Most importantly, these young women didn't develop this opinion of older men out of nowhere and I understand that. Something happened to them, or one of their good friends, which has made them very uncomfortable around older males in the work place. The "Me Too" movement had a real foundation to it and I realize that.
I feel like I am posting this without an answer to it. But in short, that thread about older men referring to women by the name listed on their name tag as gross or whatever was hurtful to hear. For a lot of complex reasons. It just sucks that young women were scared of me because of my age and my gender, but once my sexuality was revealed I became a sort of fun cartoon for these same young women.
Maybe this whole post doesn't belong on this specific message board. But I just really wanted to say that because I don't know how to say it to my whole crew and I probably never will.

2024.05.19 01:32 lougoomashoo Safety Shoes

In Canada we have to wear CSA approved safety shoes, but while visiting NY I saw associates wearing crocs, and running shoes, basically anything but safety shoes.
So, my questions:
1) why aren’t steel toe boots/shoes mandatory? (Unless it’s state specific safety regulations or only certain positions need them?)
2) if you were to hurt your feet, how does that work for any sort of workplace injury claim? (If I didn’t wear my boots, and got hurt I’d get fined and so would my store by the provincial health and safety board, and I would be liable, no sort of workplace insurance would cover me for however long I was off)
3) do you think safety shoes should be mandatory for US workers?
Sincerely,
A Canadian that enjoys having toes and is for some reason concerned about fellow workers in America, and their toes.

2024.05.19 00:59 GoAheadMMDay UPDATE 3: Torment Techniques Used by Canadian and US Militaries

UPDATE 3: Torment Techniques Used by Canadian and US Militaries
Update #3 appears at the bottom.
Due to numerous disparaging comments by multiple individuals, I have reposted my article.
Heckling does not change what occurred. People need to know these truths, especially those who have experienced the same. They need to know they are sane, that such things are indeed being perpetrated, and the perpetrators use shame to silence them and protect their activities.
I write to encourage them not to listen to disparaging people who speak without knowledge.
February 10, 2024
I am Joseph Cafariello, a Canadian citizen and ex-member of the Canadian military. Of sound mind, not on medication, not a drug user, not a marijuana smoker, not an alcohol drinker, with no mental disorders.
I recently posted to this Liberty subreddit experiences of harassment by Vancouver's police and fire departments (Vancouver, BC, Canada). I’m the fellow who was repeatedly ordered by police to stay out of Vancouver’s Stanley Park, and was continually harassed whenever I visited the park (which I do every second day on my early morning walks).
Immediately following that post, they changed some of the techniques they use in my case. They were either informed of my post or found it themselves, seeing as my internet activity, and phone activity for that matter, are under continuous surveillance (plenty of proof which I will not include here to avoid running off-topic).
In this post, I would like to shed some light on other harassment which is still ongoing, since it occurs in private, away from potential observers. It involves the Canadian and US militaries.
Havana Syndrome
In 2016, numerous employees of the Canadian and US embassies in Havana, Cuba, started experiencing head injuries ranging from mild headaches to concussions. It happened in their sleep, and came to be called Havana Syndrome.
Wikipedia explains (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Havana\_syndrome):
“Havana syndrome is a cluster of idiopathic symptoms experienced mostly abroad by U.S. government officials and military personnel. The symptoms range in severity from pain and ringing in the ears to cognitive dysfunction and were first reported in 2016 by U.S. and Canadian embassy staff in Havana, Cuba. Beginning in 2017, more people, including U.S. intelligence and military personnel and their families, reported having these symptoms in other places, such as China, India, Europe, and Washington, D.C. The U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense, and other federal entities have called the events "Anomalous Health Incidents" (AHI). Of over a thousand purported cases, the majority of US investigative bodies found only a few dozen cases to be suspicious.”
Ladies and gentlemen, I can tell you exactly what happens, because I have been experiencing this since I first joined the Canadian military back in 2002, and am still experiencing these “torments” (as I call them) to this day, already 3 years after leaving the military.
I go to bed. In about 15 minutes, just as I am on the cusp of falling asleep, a hear and feel a heavy thud reverberate and ultimately strike my skull. My body releases a sharp burst of adrenalin, my heart starts racing, and my blood’s circulation speeds up significantly. Depending on the severity of the blow, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep again. Though there have been times I could not return to sleep for more than 2 hours.
A strong headache is felt immediately, and lasts for hours. There have been times when my heart felt like it was going to burst, having been startled as such.
The pulse to the head sometimes reverberates through the wall and my bed’s headboard. I distinctly feel as though I have been hit on the top of my skull. At other times, it feels as though the pulse has come through the air, striking the side of my skull.
This is not a sleep disorder, for it does not occur regularly. At times, my sleep is disturbed in this manner 3 or 4 days in a row. At other times, there is no disturbance for up to a week. But they never let me go more than a week without such interruptions to my sleep.
Neither is it sleep apnea, as I do not awaken gasping for breath. The pounding headaches, sudden release of adrenaline, and heart palpitations I experience are caused by external impacts of sound waves or air bursts.
Sonic Weapons
How these pulses are produced is not easy to identify. As Wikipedia explains:
“Once the story became public, various U.S. government representatives attributed the incidents to attacks by unidentified foreign actors, and various U.S. officials blamed the reported symptoms on a variety of unidentified and unknown technologies, including ultrasound and microwave weapons.”
Sonic weapons have been in use for many years by militaries, and by police in crowd control. As Wikipedia explains (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic\_weapon):
“Some sonic weapons make a focused beam of sound or of ultrasound; others produce an area field of sound. As of 2023 military and police forces make some limited use of sonic weapons.”
(Do not believe the 2023 timeline. The Canadian military has been using these weapons since the early 2000’s at the latest.)
Wikipedia continues:
“Extremely high-power sound waves can disrupt or destroy the eardrums of a target and cause severe pain or disorientation. This is usually sufficient to incapacitate a person. Less powerful sound waves can cause humans to experience nausea or discomfort.”
The users of these technologies must also be using thermal detection equipment to monitor the target’s sleep. As I mentioned, I most often feel these blows the moment I am falling asleep. Body temperature drops when we sleep, and brain activity slows. Heat-detection equipment is likely being used to identify the point at which the target is falling asleep.
Why they prefer to strike at the start of someone’s sleep as opposed to the middle of their sleep, I do not know. Perhaps their intent is to deprive the body of early sleep, limiting the amount of deep sleep available to the person before their alarm rings in the morning.
Ordinary Hammers
Not all such “torments” (as I call them) are caused by high-tech equipment. I have heard and felt distinct hammer strikes running along the 2x4 beams inside my walls. These strikes can be a single hard strike, or several strikes in a row. It is definitely caused by a person with a hammer because the intervals between strikes are equidistant in time; that is, the time spacing between strikes is not random and does not change from strike to strike, but is constant between strikes, exactly as when someone is hammering. And no, it is not someone hanging pictures at 1:30 am, multiple times a week, for years.
On one occasion, when I was standing at my kitchen sink, I felt the floor-board directly under my feet pulse so sharply it felt like a brick had struck the soles of my feet. In this case, my military neighbour likely used a hammer to strike the floorboard on his side of the wall. It is the only plausible explanation.
Surveillance
This leads to surveillance of one’s activities at home. I have plenty of proofs of that. They seem insignificant on an individual basis. But when you put them all together, they present a clear picture of home surveillance.
My laptop computer’s lid cracked one night, at the bottom left corner of the screen. The next day at work, I heard my military supervisor relate to another co-worker that the night before, his laptop computer’s lid cracked at the bottom left corner. I swear to the Lord in Heaven, I am being truthful.
I tested my suspicion of being surveilled. At home one night, I blurted out-loud, “VW Passat. What an ugly sounding word, ‘Passat’”, I said. A few days later, my military colleagues at work started playing a card game at lunch, invented by one of them. The name he gave his game was “Passat”, and when he spoke it, he looked at me for a reaction. If you ever contact the Halifax military base, ask for the Claims Department and ask them if they are still playing Passat.
On another occasion, at a time when I frequented the gym every second day for a few years, I suspected my van had been fitted with a listening device. I suspected so because a number of things I had spoken with people about on my phone while in my van (nothing illegal) were repeated by people at the gym in conversations among themselves. Too many times, parts of other people's conversations matched parts of conversations I had had with others while I was in my van.
I already knew my phone was being tapped, but I also suspected my van was bugged. So one evening while driving in my van, I blurted out-loud a number of things I said I hated. "I hate (this or that)"; "I hate it when...". One of them was, "I hate when people chew gum with their mouths open." I then vocalized an exaggerated gnawing sound, "Gnaw. Gnaw. Gnaw."
The very next time I went to the gym, 2 days later, while I was at an exercise, a fellow sat at an exercise directly behind me. And sure enough, he started chewing with his mouth open, vocalizing that gnawing sound, "Gnaw. Gnaw. Gnaw." I didn't look behind at him, because I knew what was going on, and I wanted to avoid playing into his hand. So he repeated himself again and again until I was done and moved to a different station. Now, honestly, who chews gum at the gym? You can't. Or you run the risk of choking for the heavy breathing, not to mention when laying down on benches. And with precisely the same exaggerated vocalized gnawing sound I had made in my van just 2 days prior.
Their whole intent is to let you know you are being surveilled. They want you to know, as both a warning and a provocation. They want you to say something, to launch accusations, which they would readily deny, making you look paranoid. If you react too strongly, they could even have you diagnosed with some kind of disorder, and put you on medication, which further plays into their hand. (More regarding medications in the last section of this post.)
This is why, as I mentioned in my previous post, they would park their cars shining their high beams on me as I walked past them during my morning walk. And why on some occasions, a group of 3 or 4 would exit their cars and stand on my path just as I approached, forcing me to go around them. They would then remain standing on the path until my return trip through, and after I had passed by the second time, then would then return to their cars - making it absolutely clear I was their interest.
Their intent is not only to make me aware, but also to present themselves in close proximity to me, within easy reach, in the hope I would confront them, resulting in an altercation that could land me in a lot of hot water - 4 witnesses against me, all pleading innocence.
Again, it is all designed to make you look bad, and to warrant some kind of legal measure against you - preferably a medical diagnosis, discrediting you in everything you say about them. If they can't refute your claims, their only remaining option is to discredit you. That's what all of these tricks are designed to accomplish. Who would believe anything you say, once you have been diagnosed with a disorder?
There are plenty more examples. But who would really believe them? I’ll save them for the future.
Home Invasion
Both during and after my military service, I have had my apartments entered without any signs of break-ins. How? Lock-picking and duplicate keys. Indications? Missing objects; ie: money, phone adaptor, etc. Nothing major. Just something to make us understand we are being watched, and to make us understand what they can do.
But it is always something small, something for which you would be ridiculed for divulging.
Two more examples: I found my razor, which I always lay-down razor-end to the wall, turned around, razor-end toward me. Also, in one of my house slippers I found a small shoe sticker on the up-side of the heel. I had those slipper for years, and never had any shoe stickers on them. Yet there it was, clearly visible on the top surface of my slipper, not the bottom. Could I have stepped on a shoe sticker when barefoot in my apartment, only to have the sticker transfer itself to my slipper when I wore it? How many shoe stickers do you have laying around your apartment that you can accidentally step onto?
If I had stepped onto a sticker in my apartment and had it stick to my heel, that means the sticky side was up against my skin. This means the sticker would have had to flip upside down such that the sticky side would then be down, allowing the sticker to stick to the slipper. Do you really think that happened? That sticker was not there when I left my apartment, but it was there when I returned. And it was the wrong sticker, wrong brand, wrong size.
Again, what is their intent? To make someone look ridiculous so no one will believe them should they speak of other more sensitive things.
Staged Incidents
The above incidents clearly point to coordinated and staged events (at my work, my home, on my walks, etc). This is so frequently met with incredulity. "But that would require coordination on the part of so many people," the public dismisses. "They wouldn't do that."
Oh yes they would, and they have, as explained in https://fightgangstalking.com/. Note the documented cases involving the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS, Canada's equivalent to the US' CIA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP, Canada's national police force), which were reported in national newspapers.
From https://fightgangstalking.com/ :
“Disruption operations often involve tactics which are illegal, but difficult to prove. These tactics include – but are not limited to – overt surveillance (stalking), slander, blacklisting, “mobbing” (intense, organized harassment in the workplace), “black bag jobs” [home invasions], abusive phone calls, computer hacking, framing, threats, blackmail, vandalism, “street theater” (staged physical and verbal interactions with minions of the people who orchestrate the stalking), harassment by noises, and other forms of bullying. Many of these tactics were used by the FBI during its illegal COINTELPRO operations, as documented by stolen official documents and subsequent Congressional investigations.
"Although the general public is mostly unfamiliar with the practice, references to “disruption” operations – described as such – do occasionally appear in the news media, even though that fact would apparently be news to the editors of The New York Times. In May 2006, for example, an article in The Globe and Mail, a Canadian national newspaper, reported that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) used “Diffuse and Disrupt” tactics against suspects for whom they lacked sufficient evidence to prosecute. A criminal defense attorney stated that many of her clients complained of harassment by authorities, although they were never arrested."
She can add me to that list too.
For the Benefit of Others
The experiences I have recounted here seem so trivial, so insignificant, they make you look ridiculous if you talk about them. But if we don’t talk about such things, no one will ever know about them. Other people have experienced the same, and are forced to endure such torments in silence. They need encouragement to talk about their own experiences, and so I write about mine in the hope they will talk about theirs, even if I do look ridiculous. The perpetrators are more ridiculous for doing them.
I remember a military colleague being hauled away by military police one morning, as she was struggling and having a violent fit. A fellow on her floor told me she was throwing chairs at her walls screaming, “Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!”. When he mentioned that, I knew exactly what they had done to her. She was considered unruly, and was being watched intently. They wanted her out, and that is how they accomplished it. Through wall tapping and sleep deprivation, they push you to the breaking point. And when you finally lose control and do something rash, they pounce on you, and you’re out. Now she has a criminal record, considered a criminal when in reality she was a victim. Welcome to the Canadian military, and other militaries besides, I am sure.
There are dozens upon dozens of experiences I could present. But who will really read them? Worse still, who will really believe them? I overheard my military supervisor in Halifax whisper to another, “Do you think he knows?”, after I had mentioned one of the many “coincidences” I experienced, but with a tone of my being aware it was not a mere coincidence. As I turned my face to my computer screen, I whispered under my breath, but still loud enough for him to hear, “Yes, (rank) (name), I know.” A few minutes later, as he walked past my desk, he leaned in by my ear and whispered, “We’re trying to help you.” I should have pressed him for answers right then and there, but you just don’t know how much trouble you can get into when making such accusations in the military. So I let it go. But I will never forget.
Should anyone reading this ever decide to launch some kind of inquiry, I can mention names of over 100 people to contact, including military personnel, family members, neighbours, building managers, and others who have been contacted by military personnel with false narratives about me. They flash their ID’s and other credentials, and people believe anything they say. They turn family, friends, co-workers and neighbours against you, even recruiting their participation. Your acquaintances not only participate, but actually feel justified and emboldened playing tricks on you. It isn't their fault, though; they have been misled. I would reference them solely for corroboration.
As a final thought, here are explanations of two military programs in which certain persons (sometimes military, sometimes civilian) are kept under constant surveillance, and are in some cases subjected to conditioning in an attempt to turn them into what is called a “sleeper agent”. Almost all of the tactics presented below have been experience by me, including constant surveillance (ie: my previous post here regarding being harassed on my morning walks) and sleep deprivation (as per the top portion of this post, which other military members in Cuba and elsewhere around the world have also experienced).
Pentagon’s Signature Reduction Program
See Newsweek’s article: https://www.newsweek.com/exclusive-inside-militarys-secret-undercover-army-1591881
Some excerpts from that Newsweek article, plus more background information on the Pentagon’s Signature Reduction Program, can be found here: https://fightgangstalking.com/
“The largest undercover force the world has ever known is the one created by the Pentagon over the past decade. Some 60,000 people now belong to this secret army, many working under masked identities and in low profile, all part of a broad program called “signature reduction.” The force, more than ten times the size of the clandestine elements of the CIA, carries out domestic and foreign assignments, both in military uniforms and under civilian cover, in real life and online, sometimes hiding in private businesses and consultancies, some of them household name companies.
“…a little-known sector of the American military, but also a completely unregulated practice. No one knows the program’s total size, and the explosion of signature reduction has never been examined for its impact on military policies and culture. Congress has never held a hearing on the subject. And yet the military developing this gigantic clandestine force challenges U.S. laws, the Geneva Conventions, the code of military conduct and basic accountability.
“…The signature reduction effort engages some 130 private companies to administer the new clandestine world. Dozens of little known and secret government organizations support the program, doling out classified contracts and overseeing publicly unacknowledged operations.
"Federal spy agencies are using Americans to spy on their fellow citizens – the same approach to governance famously employed by communist East Germany."
How to Develop a Hypnotic Sleeper Agent
By Dantalion Jones / Masters of Mind Control
The following “was” on the web, but has been removed. Surprise, surprise. But I saved its web files to my computer years ago, knowing that sooner or later it would be removed. I made a jpeg image of the web page as it once appeared, attached here.
Note that I have experienced almost all of the tactics described below, including the stalking I mentioned in my previous post here (regular walks in the park), the sleep deprivation noted at the top of this post, and the surveillance and intrusions described here as well.
Quoting the now-removed webpage: “How to Develop a Hypnotic Sleeper Agent” (from here to end of post):
Amid all the conspiracy theories one of the most feared is that there exist "sleeper agents" in our society who are programmed to come into service when they are triggered by a phone call or key word.
These alleged sleeper agents don't even know they are programmed to become saboteurs, soldiers, suicide bomber, etc because of the thoroughness of their programming. They are the feared "Manchurian Candidate" that the movies portray.
The question is "Are they real?"
If they are true sleeper agents there is no way of telling until they are activated. One can however theorize exactly how they are made.
Indoctrination
Using indoctrination a person can be made to embrace a religious or philosophical belief that would make becoming a sleeper agent possible.
This would be a person so committed to an ideal they would be willing to wait patiently as a member of society until they are called into action. These people would know their mission and consciously hold it secret while interacting with the rest of society.
Conditioning
Conditioning is a repetitive process where the desired responses are enforced and rewarded and unwanted responses are punished. This can be done consciously as part of training drill and it can be done subconsciously using hypnosis or drugs to create amnesia.
Hypnosis
It has been demonstrated that hypnosis can create "amnesia walls" in which the subject has no conscious memory of what happened in the hypnosis session. It has further been demonstrated that hypnosis can give post hypnotic instruction to be carried out automatically in the waking state without the subject knowing it or questioning the behavior.
What follows is conjecture and theory based on testimonials of people who were alleged to be sleeper agents and soldiers.
Continuous Supervisions
Continuous supervision doesn't mean that the subject is cut off completely from society. It means that they are constantly overseen and every aspect of their lives are managed (without their knowledge or consent) to support their hypnotic programming.
This would include:
• Repeated reinforcement of all hypnotic conditioning.
• Handlers. Handlers are people who help maintain the subjects environment to maintain all the programming. They can play the role of family, friends, lovers, psychologists, coaches or any roll the subject perceives as supportive. The truth is the handlers are their to support the successful fulfillment of the programming and not the subject as a person.
• Minimal sleep so that the mind/brain does not process all the sleeper conditioning during sleep.
• Creating constant environmental challenges like unemployment or poverty. This gives the subject something other than their programming to focus on.
• Frequent hospitalization. This gives overt opportunity to sedate the subject for conditioning. If the subject has a history of hospitalizations for mental disturbances all the better. No one will take them seriously.

PS... Today is the second day after this post (February 12, 2024). A garbage truck just slammed into my parked car.
PPS... I finish writing this post because I am satisfied with its shape and content; not because of what happened to my car.
It is similar to when you are reaching for your coat, and someone tells you, "Take your coat." Since you have to take your coat, your brain tells you it's ok to obey them, and you comply. They just created an instance where they led you, and you followed them. And your brain accepted it.
It's a technique the military uses all the time. It trains you to accept instructions from that person or group. Done enough times, you become comfortable obeying them.
I just say, "I take my coat because I choose to, not because you tell me to." It's important to make that clear, to block the conditioning and affirm our self-governance; not just to them, but to ourselves as well. Now our brain realizes we took our coat by our own choice; we are still in command.
So too, I say regarding today's event. "Thanks for the warning, but I had already finished writing my post. I finished by my own choosing."
UPDATES 1 & 2: February 26 & March 07, 2024:
My apartment was once again entered while I was out. Either a key was used or the lock was picked. This may or may not have included assistance from building staff. Home invasions are included in the list of their techniques noted above, referred to as "black bag jobs".
All tenants on my floor received new fridges a couple of weeks ago. I removed the tape securing the bins inside my new fridge, and also removed all styrofoam pads from the corners of the glass shelves when I repositioned them.
The person(s) who have been invading my living space on a regular basis have struck again. As you can see in the photo below, the styrofoam pads on the corners of my fridge's shelves were restored when I was out of my apartment. I had removed all pads when I repositioned the shelves. Yet now they are back.
It is a tactic used to undermine our observational awareness in an attempt to make us second-guess and doubt ourselves. The aim is to cause people to feel less sure not only of the things we have done, but also feel less sure of the things others have done. They want us to question the accuracy of our observations and memory.
The idea is to train you to dismiss any anomalies you may observe as being your own misperception of things. Once they convince you not to trust your own judgement, they are free to do whatever they want to you, and you will simply accept it without questioning.
UPDATE 3: May 18, 2024:
Confrontations with individuals keep occurring, at times potentially violent. Following are just 3 such encounters as of late.
1 - Kick-boxer in the park:
As I parked my car in one of the parking lots in Vancouver's Stanley Park one night, another vehicle drove up behind me and parked several spots away. A tall man exited that vehicle, and walked hastily along the path I always walk, down some steps to the water's sea wall path. I took my time and followed my usual walk, also down the steps down to the sea wall. The man knew my routine, and was in a hurry to get ahead of me.
As I walked along the sea wall, I saw the same man sitting on a bench, playing a loud religious sermon in a foreign language on a device I did not clearly see. As I walked past him, he called out to me to stop and chat. I ignored him and continued walking past. He rose and started walking behind me.
I opened my umbrella, turned, and walked past him the other way, returning to the stairs back to the parking lot. He also turned and continued following me. I started running. He also started running. I ran up the steps, as did he.
Being taller than I am, his legs are longer than mine, and he quickly caught up to me on a grassy patch at the top of the steps. I turned to him and asked, "Why are you following me?" He did not reply, but stood profile to me, the same stance a kick-boxer uses when ready to kick someone. He was tall, thin, and in excellent physical shape as you would see in a kick-boxer.
He did not speak at all, but was just waiting for me to make a move. I turned, entered my vehicle and left. The encounter continued with a chase through the park in our cars. Yes, that is correct. He chased me out of the park in his car.
2 - Told to keep quiet:
The perpetrators need to operate with as little detection as possible, and they repeatedly warn their subjects to keep their mouths shut about their experiences.
On another of my recent nightly walks, a man stood on the sidewalk ahead of me about half a block away, looked at me, and shouted into the sky at nobody, giving the appearance of being a homeless person shouting for no reason. He then started walking in my direction. I continued walking straight. As he passed me, he leaned into my face and shouted into my ear, "Shut the f_ck up!" I continued walking in my direction, and he resumed walking in his.
The idea is to make it seem as though he is just a deranged man wandering the streets at night, shouting at nothing, so that when he shouts at me, any observer would simply dismiss his actions. But in reality, he was sent to send me a message to stop publishing posts like this, which I had done many times on many sites, and continue to. They don't like it when we reveal their methods. But the truth must be known.
3 - You'll be sorry:
On another occasion, while returning from grocery shopping one afternoon, I walked past a man sitting by a storefront. He was clean-cut, wearing clean clothes, without any carts or wagons or any belongings of any kind. As I passed him, he asked me for some spare change. I replied, "I'm sorry," and continued walking past. He replied, "You will be."
There are numerous other experiences, like two seemingly unassociated men standing on the sea wall about 100 meters away from each other, each of them spitting just as I walked past each one.
There are too many experiences to mention. Looking at each experience individually, one would easily dismiss them as being unrelated and simply coincidental. But put them all together and a picture starts to form, like putting together the pieces of a puzzle.
As I hand you each piece of the puzzle one by one, you dismiss each piece, saying, "This could be anything." And you discard it. You keep discarding each piece as I hand it to you. By the end of it, you look down at the table and say, "You have nothing." That's because you looked at each piece as a separate item and threw it away. But if you leave the pieces on the table as I hand them to you and do not hastily discard them, you will see they form a clear picture when put all together.
We must look at all these events as a whole. Individually, each one could be anything. But when all of these experiences are put together and considered as a whole, they form an undeniable picture. Do not be quick to dismiss each piece. Leave the pieces on the table and look at the whole. The picture I present is sound. Remember, I have all the pieces; you do not. I see the picture more clearly than you do.

2024.05.18 18:53 No_Scheme4909 Keyboard ideas for Office Silent

Hello everyone, I'll soon be able to work at two of my company's locations and since I don't have an old keyboard and mouse lying around and I don't always want to carry around the devices that I use at my current location, I'm now looking for something that doesn't overstretch my budget and not like that a piece of junk that I was provided with (a cheap set from Fujitsu). Now that the workplace is quite close to other workers, it's hard for me to use clicker keyboards otherwise they'll tear my head off. My eye caught Roccat Magma but the RGB makes me worried when I can't install the software because IT has blocked installations. Do you have any suggestions for what else I could watch? The following points are important: - quiet - RGB not available or can be switched off without software or only the keys are illuminated - hast to be min 100% because im calculator
Maybe the lightspeed from logitech but im not sure how quiet are these boards.
And yes this whole thing is translated with google sorry for that ☠️

2024.05.18 16:23 LeonAdelmanMD ACEP's new "Well Workplace" policy moves past burnout-shaming

Emergency physicians, PAs & NPs are not the kings and queens of "burnout" because of a lack of yoga or insufficient grit. They are dissatisfied with jobs that don't allow them to deliver high-quality acute care (which they trained for years/decades to do) while their workplace's systems-level decision-making is handed to finance-first administrators.
Enter ACEP's new "Well Workplace" policy. It appropriately puts the onus on employers to create workplaces that work for emergency physicians and their patients. The policy:
Although the individual has responsibility for personal wellness, the primary emphasis should be on how the organization impacts the wellbeing of healthcare workers.1 This includes, however is not limited to, fully sponsored initiatives directed at:
Organizational Influences
  1. Provision of adequate site resources to meet patient needs at all times.2,3,4
  2. Attention to facilities, addressing essentials such as lactation rooms,5 break rooms,6 and charting space.3
  3. Intentional policies addressing workplace safety and violence prevention for patients, families, and healthcare workers.3
  4. Leadership strategies to enhance physician engagement, satisfaction, and retention.7
  5. Fully transparent sick call, paid time off/vacation, bereavement, substantial family, parental and medical leave,8 and elder care policies consistent with state legislation.9
  6. Supportive environment with adequate mental health Early recognition strategies to identify moral distress, physician impairment, mental health issues, and physician suicidality. These may include peer to peer10 and/or employee assistance programs.11
  7. Provide training in and address in real-time:
    1. Critical Incident Stress Management, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, adverse events, challenging cases.12
    2. Mitigation of Compassion Fatigue, Second Victim Syndrome.13
Practice Environment Influences
  1. Full staffing of all workers in the department required for patient care, including ancillary staff and non-departmental employees such as transportation, environmental services, laboratory, radiological services, and security.3,4,14
  2. Directed critical efforts with institutional leadership at the highest level to measure, report, and solve boarding15 and overcrowding burden.16
  3. Establishing physician-led on-site teams to adequately supervise non-physician providers if provided.17,18
  4. Prioritization of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all.19-21
  5. Attention to improving operational flow through human factors engineering.3,22
  6. Best possible employee nutritional options available 24/7.6
  7. Burden reduction of administrative tasks:
    1. Focused electronic medical record23 systems optimization, with paid on-line training and paid off-shift chart completion.24,25
  8. Reduction of non-essential communications, meetings, and email.26
Culture
  1. Anonymous, comprehensive, and objective evaluation of wellness outcomes and departmental leadership by staff to ensure accountability to address, maintain, and improve workplace wellness.27
  2. Transparent and equitable compensation, promotion, due process policies and clearly defined reasonable and sustainable productivity metrics.28
  3. Establishment of effective departmental/hospital wellness committees.
  4. Culture of teamwork, with expectation and enforcement of interdisciplinary respect, empathy, and collegiality.
  5. Support programs that include, but are not limited to addressing:
    1. Recognition of the relevance of aging physicians in the workplace; retirement planning.29
    2. Litigation stressors.30
    3. Financial issues.31
    4. Mentoring and/or coaching.19,20,21
  6. Individualized schedule optimization.32

2024.05.18 10:51 Crimson-Banner Refugee survivor difficulty, deathless run without signing child labor and accessing canning factory

My Playthrough
Most survivor difficulty run without signing child labor would sending out scout as fast as possible, and pray for canning factory show up as third or fourth scout location. What if canning factory locate a bit further or not even showing up ?
Therefore, I choose to research technology in this order, so I can start operating hothouse by day4, and produce enough food before people were starved to death:
Drawing Boards (T1) ,Hothouse, Wall Drill, Beacon , and Steam Hub.
With this strategy, I have one wall drill, two hothouses, and three workshops before temperature drop to -50, and all workplaces and tents are covered by heatzones. Even though I don't need resource from canning factory, I still built the beacon on day 5 based on the following consideration:
  1. If the beacon isn't built before fifth group of refugees arrived, description in the event indicates some people were getting lost, which technically make the playthrough not deathless.
  2. I need scouts bringing back additional 60 steel, so I can built a sector of workplaces comprised of steam steelworks, gathering posts, coal thumpers and a steam hub.

Mercedes-Benz Workers Voted Against Union
  • Mercedes-Benz workers in Alabama voted against union representation by the United Auto Workers (UAW), showcasing the complex dynamics of labor movements within the US automotive industry.
  • The vote represents a significant setback for the UAW, coming shortly after a successful organizing drive at a Volkswagen plant in Tennessee, highlighting the unpredictable nature of unionization efforts.
  • The election, monitored by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), had more than 90% voter turnout among eligible workers, demonstrating high engagement among the workforce in decisions affecting their employment conditions.
  • Mercedes-Benz's management's position on preferring to work directly with team members without union mediation suggests a preference for maintaining direct communication channels between employers and employees in corporate culture.
  • UAW President Shawn Fain remains optimistic despite the defeat, indicating a resilient and forward-looking stance on future organizing efforts and labor rights advocacy within the auto industry.
Stephen Silvia, author of "The UAW's Southern Gamble: Organizing Workers at Foreign-Owned Vehicle Plants," pointed out that Mercedes-Benz replaced the plant's leader just weeks before the election. This strategic move is seen as a common tactic deployed by companies to pacify organizing efforts, suggesting that promises of change and direct communication with employees can significantly influence election outcomes.
"While this loss stings, I'll tell you this, we're going to keep our heads up, keep our heads up high. These workers have nothing to do but be proud in the effort they put forth and what they've done," UAW President Shawn Fain said.
Amidst adversities and setbacks, the union's persistent drive towards advocating for workers' rights underlines the enduring belief in collective bargaining's power to enhance the working conditions and livelihoods of employees. This unmoving commitment, even in the face of defeat, sheds light on the broader implications and the indomitable spirit of labor movements in shaping equitable workplace environments.

2024.05.18 06:51 blankyfang Ottawa Centre MP Naqvi says ‘no consensus’ on return-to-office issue from constituents following Treasury Board’s decree

https://www.hilltimes.com/story/2024/05/17/ottawa-centre-mp-naqvi-says-no-consensus-on-return-to-workplace-issue-from-constituents-following-treasury-boards-decree/422233/

"A number of Ottawa-area mayors wrote to the Treasury Board president with their major concerns that the government's back-to-office decision will have on their local economies and the environment."

"Most people want to work in hybrid workplaces, Naqvi told The Hill Times, noting that since he ran federally in 2021, he had emphasized that hybrid work was here to stay. "
Someone ask Naqvi where he got the idea that most people want to work hybrid? I guess local economies in the Ottawa area don't matter, only the Ottawa downtown core does.
