This is going to be a long one, so buckle up.
I was born in Sweden and moved to the US when I was 4. My great grandfather moved from his Sami village and in three generations we were effectively colonized. I don't know the language nor have I really been exposed to my peoples culture due to my father's shame. Obviously, being European, my family has viking ancestory. My sister got lucky and has the platinum blond hair you see in the movies.
I come from a very strict Christian background however I've long since drifted away from those views. When I was around 15 or 16 I started doing a little digging into Norse Paganism but moved on in favor of working with a Greek goddess.
I'd consider my approach to spirituality very eclectic. As long as it's an open practice I learn whatever strikes my fancy. I certainly contemplated looking more into my Sami roots but a cousin (who's a part of a Sami organization) advised me that because I wasn't living in Sampiland I shouldn't practice the traditional ways/beliefs of my people, given the fact I'm effectively an outsider.
For those of you who aren't aware Thor is a God who's revered in the traditional Sami belief system. The Sami and Vikings had enough interaction through trade that the Sami people incorporated one of thier gods.
Three years ago I started a journal dedicated to Runes. It was something idle, to pass the time, and I considered it enjoyable. I hadn't, however, gotten my hands on a rune set. Then I moved on once again.
Ravens began to follow me and for the next several years they were a constant in my life. I saw them daily, even in the winter.
A witchy store opened nearby about a year ago and they just so happened to have two norse necklaces. Again, on instinct, at random, I happened to see them. One was the hammer of Thor and the other was Odin's Compass. Given I'm not very familiar with Norse Paganism I'd never seem Odin's compass before. I felt a connection with it and happened to walk out with it. It was only later I learned what it was.
Another trip, an entirely different store, and I decided to buy a book on runes. Another run of idly curiosity the book was a more complex dive into the subject. That same trip I happened to find an intuitive deck.
I was walking through the store and felt an energetic tug and turned to see some cards on a table. I pulled them out and immeditly three popped out, describing my life at the current moment. It was an instant connection with a deck, which I've never had before. I turned the cards over to see Odin's Compass on the back. Needless to say I walked out with that deck. To this day out of every oracle and tarot deck I have the connection with that intuitive deck transcends them all.
The last and final event, my tipping point. I was in a witchy store once again browsing for candles and Incense when the store keeper approached me and said she had a rune set. She brought them out for me. Given the chance I'd never handled runes before I jumped at the chance to leave with my own set. The runestones were all but jumping from the container the second I walked out. On my way to the car two runestones slipped out and it wasn't necessarily due to any haphazard movements on my part.
This afternoon I tried them out. It was like this incessant tug that wouldn't leave me alone until I finally caved and decided to use them. I couldn't focus on anything else and the urge grew so strong I actually had to leave a friend mid conversation.
The reading was phenomenal. It was like the runestones were guiding me. I ended up setting out a little cloth underneath them. I'm not entirely sure why but it felt important. I used my intuitive deck in conjuction with the runestones after an intial cast. It just felt right to toss the runestones.
Once again, utter clarity that's impossible for me to achieve with other divination methods. It was the first time I've ever felt throughly drained after a reading as well. I could only continue for about five to ten minutes before I had to stop.
I ended up placing the runestones on display in a little glass goblet the store keeper gave me for free, alongside the intuitive deck. It just felt right. Like they wanted to be out instead of tucked away in the pouch.
Anyway, I'm curious on your thoughts and what direction you think I should take things. Should I be looking into Norse Paganism again? If I do, which God or goddess would be worth looking into?

I (19m) recently broke up with my gf (18f). It started 3 years ago right after covid; I fell first and it felt like she fell harder. She had an abusive household and had a lot of problems regarding academics, friends and family. She struggled academically so I helped her with every part of it, teaching her everything so that she passed the tests, sometimes doing her homework for her. She had basically no friends so I told her that she always had me. She clinged onto me and would get jealous whenever I talked to any of my friends so she isolated me from all my friends but my best friend. Her father used to hit her so I learned how to fight. I hated every part of it but I did it so that someday, if need be , I could protect her. After highschool, we decided to go overseas to pursue our future. She had pretty bad english so I gave my all and somehow made her pass the IELTS. But due to issues with visa and all that, we had to be in two seperate countries. I went first, she went after, and now we were in our own different countries leading our own different lives. Both of us were struggling but we helped each other with all we could. She had a good job but her academics were slipping. So I told her to just handle her job and her life and that I would handle her academics. I struggled a lot with this; handling a 20 hour job with a 19 credit hour semester and a whole different course alltogether was pretty difficult. Sometimes I'd go a couple days without food cause I had that little time. However, being able to talk to her kept me going. I believed with all my heart that we would, after a couple years, have our own little family. I did notice certain things that changed abiut her; I wanted to go to the gym but she would prohibit me cause she had a thing with skinny guys but recently she kept pointing out that I was too skinny and had no triceps, which, to me atleast was very weird and hurtful but I didnt think much of it, she also never used to talk about money but she started obsessing over getting a new iphone and would get mad at me for not being able to afford her one. I told her to pay in installments which we could alternate every month but for some reasonshe declined.One day, after a pretty grueling day at work, dealing with my abusive boss and not being able to register for one of my most important classes, I was planning to go home and talk to her. But she was offline. I then just started randomly scrolling through instagram reels when I got a text from an unknown account telling me he wants to talk to me about her. He asks me why I have been hiding from him. Confused as to who this individual is and what he means by me "hiding" from him, I question further. He asks me if Im my gfs bff. I tell him im his boyfriend and ask him wtf he means by me hiding. He then proceeds to ask me why ive been blocking him on my socials. I didnt even know the guy, but my gf had my socials too. After an awkward minute, he sends me several pictures of them kissing and on the bed together. At this point I'm questioning if it is photoshopped. Then he sends me a recording of ny gfs voice calling his name out in a seductive manner. "Photos can be faked right? But voices?" He said. I then questioned her and she talked about how he blackmailed her with their photos. So I asked an explanation for how the photos were there in the first place and why I had no knowledge of this blackmail prior to this. After not getting one, I blocked her and everything related to her. Deleted everything that would make me want to go back. But recently, while checking my gmail, I found out that she sent regular mails with how and what she was doing and apologized in it. I blocked her mail too but felt a crippling sense of guilt and regret.
I talked to my bff about this. He laughed and said that I won and how she regrets it now. I don't understand how I won. I lost the moment she cheated. Idc if she regrets it, it makes it even more tragic, and even more hurtful to see the one you love in pain. I still cant bring myself to hate her. On an emotional level, I want to go back. Intellectually, Ik it is wrong. Am I an incel?

My dad [72M] went cycling this Sunday morning and ran into issues with his bike close to where I [30F] live. I woke up around 08:30 am with a couple of missed calls and called him back about 15 minutes later. He asked if I could give him a lift, and I agreed.
He gave vague directions, mentioning landmarks like the "Grand Spice" hotel and where fishermen sell fish—things that aren't on Google Maps. My dad hates using Google Maps and is difficult with directions. I eventually found him after not too long, only calling him once to clarify his location, though he hung up on me in the midst of it.
He loaded his bike into my car, and we drove off. I explained that I struggled to follow his directions because I don’t eat fish and this is local knowledge, so I wouldn’t know where the fishermen sell fish. This upset him. As we passed the "Sugar Reef" hotel, which he referred to as the "Grand Spice" hotel (an old name I was unaware of and how I explained there was no way I would have known the hotel by this name), he became enraged. He started screaming, bashing the dashboard, and stomping his feet while I was driving. I stopped the car and asked if he wanted to make his own way home. He got out, leaving the bike with me. I drove off.
I've been in a good place lately—regular therapy, eating well, exercising and taking accountability for myself. This incident felt out of place with how everything else has been going. I don't feel anger, just disappointment that a simple thing got so out of hand.
I haven't had much contact with my dad lately, and things have been peaceful. Now it feels like this incident has disturbed that peace. I don't want to cut him out of my life, but I also don't want to tolerate such behavior. Reflecting back, this was normal behavior for him while I was growing up. As I think about having kids myself, I realize this isn't right. I wouldn't want my child to witness or experience this.
I do have issues like low self-esteem, shame, social anxiety, and lack of trust, which I believe were largely fueled by my childhood with him. My mum shares the same sentiment for herself. For context, they are divorced now, but there was a huge power imbalance with a 20-year age gap between them. He married my mum at 18; she came from a poor background, and he was the "one with the money and executive control." I've worked my way to the point where I don't rely on him anymore, and my life feels better for it. I can do favors for him now, which I feel good about.
I love both my parents, but I know neither of them, especially my dad, would consider therapy. They are both very rigid, and I don't think they will change, so I just focus on myself.
Anyway AITA here? Should I return his bike and move on? I just want to drop it at his house tomorrow when he’s out, I don't think there will be any healthy resolution other than letting it go.

The church's earliest visitors on Sunday are a group of kind-hearted do-gooders. And Lucas is there too.
The group, including Lucas, is diligently doing last-minute preparations, carefully and skillfully tending to the food they expertly prepared yesterday. Every single person involved in the work does their part with impressive ease and earned confidence. Lucas's careful contributions, both his direct, visible work, and the boons conferred by his presence allow them to do their work with newfound ease, confidence, and remarkable luck. Lucas occasionally makes minor missteps, but those are due more to the drawbacks he is enduring than anything he actually does. And every time he makes a mistake it's so minor a few deft movements are enough for him to overcome them. All the while he is texting Hannah and is visibly excited to volunteer, even though his motives are still quite selfish.
Lucas wisely does not take a leadership role here. The diligent figure follows the lead of his more experienced peers, and his endless, untiring contributions are enough to allow the group to be ready in an hour, completing work that normally takes them two or three thanks to the various perks Lucas grants them, as well as his actual, material contributions. When the group is ready, Lucas suggests they all swap stories about what led them to volunteer here.
The five volunteers and the pastor encourage the newcomer to go first, and he deftly weaves a tale that incorporates bits and pieces of the backstory he constructed for himself at his job. He explains that he grew up as the only child of a family in a small town and that he has been volunteering in minor capacities his whole life. He tells his new friends the same fanciful lies he told his coworkers and is a bit shocked when he gets the "Storytelling" skill. After that, his companions share their own stories with him. The pastor goes first, explaining that when he took over the church not one charitable act was occurring here and in only a few short years the pastor has massively changed that. The others all share various stories about how they've needed food before, or known people who needed a meal, and so they wanted to make sure that if someone needed a meal they could get it. The stories stir Lucas's heart, and he feels a pang of sincere admiration for his new friends. That said the pragmatic figure is not someone who is so kind-hearted that he'd lose sight of his larger objectives here.
While his companions share their stories he activates "Rogue", but focuses the skill on his hands. This decision almost completely cloaks his hands, rendering them invisible just long enough for Lucas to pour healing magic into the soup. He pours all of his magical energy into the stuff, exhausting himself but that is a minor inconvenience given one of his handy toys and especially when he receives a notification alerting him that he has gained an "Overcharge" skill; the ability to empower something by putting more into it.
As soon as everyone finishes their stories there is just enough time for the group of volunteers to go and get ready for the first of the arrivals at the kitchen. When Lucas is out of view of everyone he reaches into his inventory and pulls out his nifty arcane potion and downs it. The instant that the golden liquid touches his lips his power begins to flow back into him, suffusing his very soul. Minutes later the lad is welcoming guests and visitors to the church. People excitedly greet him, stunned in two different ways by his appearance.
Firstly there is the fact that Lucas is stunning, aesthetically. No matter one's preferences, no one can honestly deny his wholesome movie star looks, and no one tries to. But here, in the soup kitchen, that's the less important part of his appeal. The more important aspect of his appearance is his newness. Many of the people who appear early are people who come to the church regularly, and they recognize everyone there but him. This gives the young volunteer a chance to make several new admirers, and he navigates these social interactions with aplomb. The figure, at this point, doesn't even rely on his perks, having grown accustomed to his new life and reality.
As the figure encourages the visitors to come and grab food he is extremely pleased when he feels time freeze the first time someone tastes the food he made. This is due to the fact that he is making progress towards his quest to become a "White Mage" the formal name given to the "Healer" class he received a quest to become earlier this week, The quest asks him to heal 100 people, and this marks one of the first times he has made progress towards it. The figure smiles internally as he deactivates the notification that froze time and continues the important work he's been assigned; welcoming guests and working to log in the information they're willing to give about themselves. To achieve this task the eager go-getter has a clipboard and is stationed near the entrance to the part of the church that houses the kitchen where the chefs made the food. Every time someone new eats the food he spelled to be restorative the figure has to deal with paused time, but only the first time someone lifts some of the ensorcelled food to their lips, and each time his excitement at the prospect of obtaining a new class grows more intense.
For the first hour only long-term, regular members of the church's congregation, and their hungry friends, come to the kitchen. The pastor is one of the figures serving them food, while Lucas continues the important work he was asked to do. During this time 22 people make their way through the kitchen, greeting Lucas with excited smiles and happily volunteering the same information they've volunteered before to other individuals tasked with doing Lucas's current work. The young jumper listens to distant conversations even as he writes down the information of various individuals. He smiles internally whenever he overhears someone saying that the food tastes different somehow, better than it has before. Such individuals also sometimes notice how immediately the pain they're in lessens, their old aches and pains fading and in some cases disappearing altogether. They don't know about the magic that is repairing their bodies, the sacred energies that course into them with every faint bite or spoonful of food they eat. Also during this time the chef gains more experience
Lucas doesn't consciously know this but his decision to pour all of his magic into the food has supercharged it. If not for his decision to infuse the food with healing magic again time, coupled with the diffuse nature of the soup would have weakened the healing properties of the magic, but Lucas's choice to suffuse the food with as much magic as he could in short order before the hungry congregants and community members began to arrive has sanctified the food and empowered it's naturally restorative and fortifying properties almost making it something like a potion of sorts.
More people begin to arrive during the second hour of the meal serving period. Some of these people are brand new, and of them a handful gawk at Lucas. These individuals, include homeless youth. teen parents, and college students can't resist the urge to take in the cool glass of water on a hot day that is the charming volunteer. His ability to feign kindness and his almost but not quite eerie sense of their emotional states is enough to allow them to develop crushes, platonic or otherwise, on the figure. And in the space of the hour 40 such individuals come through and eat more of Lucas's cooking, enough to allow him to level up his chef class one more time. He eagerly takes a new class ability, one that allows him to grant food he cooks very minor buffs, though he finds that it's not retroactive.
During this time the pastor gives a very brief address to the crowd of gathered individuals, and introduces Lucas to everyone though Lucas has already been social enough and diligent enough to do that himself. Lucas eagerly thanks everyone for joining them today, and during this time he experiences a very subtle glitch where he says a word but no one notices it. The young adventurer simply ignores the glitch, but not before noting that it's the first one he's experienced in a public situation.
During the last forty five minutes of the meal more people come through, and this group is the oddest and the largest. These folks are the irregulars; people who occasionally need the meals the kitchen provides but who don't love prospect of coming to the kitchen. This group numbers a total 45 of individuals, and by the time they eat the effects of the food are less miraculous, but still solidly strong. At the same time when the next to last person to eat grabs a spoonful of soup and lifts it to her lips she is unknowingly responsible for time freezing and Lucas gaining a new class, The excited hero immediately changes classes and gains a boost to his intelligence and charisma as a result of it as well as just enough experience to boost the power of "Support", making this the first time that a perk of his has been directly strengthened to a quantifiable extent.
"Support" is the most subtle of Lucas's perks other than "The Devil's Own Luck". This perk makes him a more effective leader and teammate, and boosts the efforts of his c;lose-by allies by the equivalent of a "+2", until just now, modifier in TTRPG terms and weakens the efforts of his c;lose-by enemies by "-2", or now "-3". In layman's terms all of the efforts of his allies by a tiny but noticeable margin and weakens the efforts of his enemies by an equal amount. The perk also allows for buffs or debuffs to affect all allies or enemies in close proximity to each other, but Lucas has not had many chances to buff allies or fight enemies. One effect this perk has had is that it allows his friends to cook food that is more delicious, more filling, and healthier than their past efforts. Another effect of it is that it has helped those who eat said food to ingest it more easily and thus allows them to eat it without fears of stomach pains. New spells also appear in the hero's mental grimoire, ones that offer minor buffs or debuffs to friends and enemies, targeting their attributes, but none that consider Lucas a viable target.
The hero delights in his new class and is excited to have the chance to grow as a healer and support provider but the day isn't done. When the last of the crowd leaves Lucas and the rest of his friends stay behind to clean up. Lucas is eager to put his newly enhanced perk to the test, and during these efforts Lucas gains the "Cleaner" class, a class whose initial benefits to him include a boost to his senses and to his skill with anything intended to be used to clean something. During the cleaning, Lucas does not quite gain enough experience to level up, but he knows that he will in time.
Eventually Lucas bids his new friends farewell and makes his way to the gym. He works out somewhat intensely during this time, gaining a series of new skills in the form of swimming and boxing, thanks to his time engaging in a decently stimulating jaunt around the lap pool, followed by his participation in a class that revolves around self-defense. Thanks to "Master of All" and his decision to swap classes to "Fighter" he manages to level up both his "Mage" and his "Fighter" class, opting to give himself a boost to his endurance as a class skill for "Fighter", and a boost to the rate at which he regenerates arcane energy as his class skill for "Mage". It is during this time that Lucas figures out that for his classes to level up he needs to gain class-based experience, but this is the first time that he has seen that he can level a class up without having the class equipped, there just seems to be some relative debuff to the experience gained by the classes he doesn't have equipped. This insight boosts his intelligence, the realization itself serving as a sort of training of the attribute.
By the time Lucas returns to his apartment he is immensely satisfied with the day he has had. The moon is visible in the night's sky when he steps into his apartment he is ready to spend the rest of the day honing his skills and gaining valuable experience. He immediately starts this off by using some of his magic to mess with some of his possessions, positioning and repositioning them as he pleases with telekinesis. For the first time the figure shuts his eyes and practices his telekinesis by feeling alone, an exercise which results in the acquisition of a strange new skill: Extrasensory Perception, or ESP. The figure excitedly practices this skill, even as he levels up his "Spatial Magic" skill and gains an expensive new spell: "Minor Teleport". This particular spell lets him teleport objects he can see and hit with a small magical ray, causing light, small objects he hits to appear in his hand. The mage's skills with this are enough to allow him to hit a kitchen knife with it and teleport it to him without any issues. Lucas's mind fills with possibilities as he takes in the wicked potential of this spell. Still, the spell costs enough that he can only cast it once or twice without waiting for his pool of arcane energy to recover which limits it's usefulness somewhat but that's only a short term problem.
Monday rolls around and when it does Lucas is delighted to find that he is familiar enough with his surroundings that he settles into a routine. The jumper almost immediately throws himself into his work the minute he arrives at the office and he quickly grinds the day away. The only notable event is his realization that Amy is developing a crush on him, something he notices during lunch when he is eating with her and their small cadre of colleagues, when she eagerly asks him about volunteering. On Monday afternoon the lad goes to the gym and works out, taking another dancing class and leveling up the class partway through the workout. He gains a class skill which allows him to more easily persuade anyone who sees him perform a few dances, which he realizes probably won't be very useful in this jump but might mean something later on in his "Chain" as his employer called it several days ago.
The figure spends part of the night leveling his rogue class and gaining skills associated with it thanks in part to his "Rogue" perk and his new spells. He sticks to public places, and stays out just long enough for some shopping outlets and malls to close. He limits his targets to small objects like keys and wallets with his magic, and occasionally targets people with debuffs. He also levels "Observe" enough that he can learn the moods of living things just by using the skill, When his rogue class levels up he snags a new skill which boosts the effectiveness of his actions when he is unseen by the people he is targeting. He also snags a title: "Arcane Sneak", which boosts his magical regeneration when he is unnoticed by people or in the immediate aftermath of him using magic to take something that belongs to someone else.
The next month and a half passes in a blur, and Lucas develops a decently strict schedule he sticks to. On Mondays he trains a specific class, not necessarily rogue but definitely something. On Tuesdays he works out, including taking Zumba, a boxing class, and swimming. On Wednesdays he does meal prep and stays at home honing minor stuff. On Thursday he does some sort of volunteering, and on Fridays he actually relaxes and does something like writing or website design. The weekends are filled with volunteering and city exploration.
During this time his classes, other than chef, dancer, and mage, are slow to level up. He actively practices magic, he is a regular chef, and he turns a passive admiration he once had for dancers into something he is surprisingly passionate about. He also begins to volunteer at the hospital he visited, spending a few hours every Saturday in a small room in the back of the hospital looking through paperwork and doing stuff he didn't anticipate a hospital volunteer doing. Still, he quickly racks up trust and admiration from the few hospital staff members who know of him, thanks to his ability to just not complain, coupled with his stunning effectiveness at what he does.
As he begins to approach the two month mark he is a level 10 chef, level 12 dancer, and a level 6 mage, and a level 3 fighter, rogue, and white mage, as well as a level 4 cleaner. It turns out that each class levels a bit differently, which has inadvertently skewed his leveling but he's become an advanced enough chef that his food can be actively beneficial or detrimental and that there is now a 5% reduction in how long it takes him to cook something. He can also now gain modifiers to his interactions with people who've eaten several dishes he's made, provided they enjoyed them. His dancing is similarly useful, and he is a much better mage now than he once was. The figure can also cast spells and use an ability that prevents something from getting dirty, or magically cleanse objects. Despite all of this he remains a level 1 human, having not gained any experience that would level him as a member of his species; it seems that for him to gain such experience he needs to engage in combat and even when he's sparred with people he doesn't fight them to unconsciousness.

Big fan of action hack 'n slash games: Monhun, Soulsborne, Lies of P, etc. I was wondering, is it worth to play the first Nioh before Nioh 2? I definitely wouldn't want to play 2 -> 1 because of the decrease in mechanical polish.
So my options as I see them are:

If it helps you guys formulate an answer I fucking love parries. Nothing like landing a frame window that both makes me take no damage and results in a nasty counterattack. If Nioh 1 has a solid, good parry system in place that's many points in favor for starting it before 2.

Bud be gone 16 years later this month. Don’t hardly seem possible. Still remember him as if I just saw and spoke to him yesterday. The way of it. Miss him a lot, and so does Momma. Also the way of it. Get to thinking about him a lot this time each year.
Not as raw and brutal as it used to be. Had some dark days for both of us for quite a while. Again, the way of it. But acceptance comes eventually, when there’s no other choice.
I try to console myself that he lived life large in the 21 years he had - didn’t waste ‘em. Got to see and do places and things that comparatively few do. Was involved in things he felt were important.
I loved him dearly, and was admiring and proud of the man he’d become. And I told him so quite often. Advice from someone who’d not always as bright as he might be, but who nevertheless understands some basic things: say what Should be said when you have the chance. The words are important, even if they already know. Don’t, and the day might come when it’s now too late to.
He was the wild one of our brood - seems like every family has one. Not troublesome in any way for Momma and me. He asked me a serious question once, when he was 16: “Dad, you and Mom hardly ever whipped us when we were kids. How come?”
And my answer a simple one: “We didn’t need to. You were good kids.” He’d thought that over, and nodded his acceptance.
A disciplinary problem aboard his ship sometimes, though, and this didn’t surprise either of us. A different world with different rules. And he never accepted insult from anyone from the time he was small - just not in his nature. Push, and he’d push back.
But by every account we heard, very serious and disciplined when it came to his job. This didn’t surprise us, either. His primary rating Firefighter aboard ship, he’d often complain that the training wasn’t Realistic enough. To the extent that a superior had remarked once in exasperation: “Well, we can’t set the damn ship on fire for you, Bud!”
Well-known and liked throughout the crew, he was something of a minor legend among them. Famous (or infamous - take your pick) for the situations he got himself into to the point that after a while, anyone in trouble beyond the usual was referred to as having “Pulled a Bud.”
Fighting several members of Shore Patrol on one memorable occasion: “It took six of ‘em to get him under control and back to the ship, Mr. OP.” A friend.
With several members of the local PD on an even more memorable one, when he took offense at the treatment of a shipmate.
He’d paid for that one on the way to and at the station. Being thrown headlong down a set of cement stairs with his hands still cuffed behind his back he figured he’d had coming. Ditto with then being picked up and rammed headfirst into a cinder block wall.
Being stripped naked, tossed in a cell, and having a fire hose turned on him every hour on the hour all night he’d objected to: “That shit was Cold, Pop! And it was fucking unnecessary! I catch any of ‘em out alone, I got somethin’ for their ass!”
“You gotta stop this shit, Bud.”
“……Sigh…I know. Do me a favor - don’t tell Mom?”
“I don’t intend to.”
“……Pop?”
“Yeah?”
“Captain says the same thing. Says this is my last chance…….Why’s he giving me another chance, after all the trouble I’ve caused?”
“Because he sees something in you he wants to keep - something of value to the ship. You can be counted on to do your job, no matter what. That carries a lot of weight in the civilian world - more so in the military.”

One of the last conversations, and over the phone, we’d ever have.
An old Chief remarked to us: “Bud was a throwback. He reminded me of the fighting Sailors of my own youth. I hadn’t met another quite like him in a good many years. He’ll be missed.”
His Captain remarked to me: “He turned it around, Mr. OP. It was as if he made a decision. There wasn’t another single incident of insubordination or anything else. In all my years of service, I’ve never seen anyone do so complete a 180. He’d made his mind up, and that was that. But I guess I don’t have to tell you that. He was actually due for promotion. Did you know that?”
I had. Bud had told me he’d studied for and passed the test. Perfect score, or near enough. He’d broken his hand at the time. A timed test, and his writing hand, he’d been afraid the cast would slow him down too much, so he’d cut it off and gone to get it redone afterward.
Last time I spoke to him, he had some shipmates were in Galveston during Mardi Gras. Out on the promenade. Sounds of revelry in the background. Shakedown cruise in preparation for another deployment.
Presently, to his impatient shipmates: “Just give me a damn minute, all right?! Listen, I guess I better go. Love you, Pop. And tell Mom that for me when she gets home, ok?”
“I will. Love you, too, Bud.”
Good last words to remember, I guess.
All through the days and nights we’d spent in the hospital, waiting, and hoping against hope, Momma and I hadn’t been alone. My brothers were there with us, having driven in from out of state. My sister. Mother.
And his crew. Day and night, young men and women waiting with us in great numbers. Lying sleeping on the floor against the walls lining the corridors, when all other spaces had been taken. None of the hospital staff asking them to leave.
Ship’s Officers and senior Enlisted spending as much time there as presentations for deployment would permit. Checking in in person with us and hospital staff about his condition at least once a day.
And nearly all of them with a story or two to tell about Bud. Many of them funny. For that was who he was, too. He could always make people laugh. Someone being down in his presence he couldn’t abide, and he always knew how to fix that.
It was as if they Needed to. And that Momma and I understood, as well. We’d known him all his life, and we could see that they knew him, too. So we were patient, and we listened.
The day finally came when we were told there was no longer any hope at all. He’d never regained consciousness, and now there was no more brain activity at all. He was gone.
His XO was there with us when we were told, and that large, strong man wept bitterly and unashamedly. I think that probably doesn’t happen often.
Momma and I were alone the next day, in a seated waiting area next to the elevators. Waiting, just the two of us, not speaking much. Everyone had given us that space to ourselves. Sensed that we needed it, I suppose.
The first man arriving with a refrigerated transport case arrived, and took the elevator down. He seemed in a hurry. A man who desperately needed Bud’s strong heart was waiting, and time was of the essence.
Momma and I watched the doors close behind him. Then we both got up, and hand in hand, walked away. It was finished now. The book of his life was closed, though in a sense it never would be.
A few months previous, he’d registered as an organ donor. His choice.
His heart went to a 31-yr-old man in need of a new one.

Talking to the coordinator of the donor program at the hospital at a later date, I was informed that the man’s new heart was functioning perfectly. He had, in fact, been going to the gym and hitting the weights. Something he’d had no interest in before.
“Lifting and bodybuilding were some of Bud’s passions” I replied.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time” the man had replied in kind. “And you’d be astonished at how many times something like that happens; the recipient unknowingly taking on attributes of the donor. No one can explain it.”

An observation from someone who plays both family and victims. Most of victims just play this game to terrorize the family players and don’t even try to escape and the grappling game is completely broken and totally victim sided and if you think it isn’t you are lying to yourself. Now as for the family side you guys most of you are just straight up toxic and quit and disconnect when things don’t go your way. That leaves sometimes 2 or even one person to deal with grief from the victim players who without end run up as many points as they can. I left the game for a few months and it is a complete mess. The lobby penalty is the only good thing now. This double XP weekend is terrible because of the players. I even played one match as family with hackers where my character laid down while everyone escaped. You blame the developers and they are trying you could help by not exploiting every problem to death. The victims know the grappling game favors them and they are abusing it.

We have not had sex in more than 5 years. He has made a few idle comments that he wished we had more sex, but he’s never tried to have A Real Conversation about it. I now have zero libido, so I am fine with the current situation. But I worry he’s more upset than he lets on, and will leave me. We’re essentially roommates… but we’re damn good roommates and I neither want nor can afford to live alone. Should I just let sleeping dogs lie? When we met, and for the first few years together, I was a very sexual person. We’re good friends and roommates, good as financial partners, and (his issues with weaponizing incompetence aside) a pretty good team overall. So… do I find the courage to broach the subject, or just sit tight? And if the former, how do I tell him that he’s the reason I went from having a high to a nonexistent libido?

I wanted that to be the foreshadowing that RK left us with.
But I like every other GME theory I read, it consumes me. I’m obsessed. So what the heck, let’s go watch everything in reverse.
Lucky for me I realized very quickly that when you go to the X iphone app and watch the latest video in full screen, you can just swipe up to see the next video. So, the next hour of my night was planned out.
That was an hour ago. I am so hyped about what I saw that I’ve decided to sit down and write out the my whole interpretation of what I saw. I don’t have answers for every single post but there does seem to be a theme that matches the theory that these are meant to watch in reverse.

Hi there. My gf and I (both 25) have been together for over 3 years and we’re now engaged and would like to get married in the next 18 months.
There’s been a lot of issues between my in-laws and my family but especially between my gf and my family, especially with my mother. They described my gf as manipulative, gold digger and so on… My family and my in-laws don’t talk to each other anymore because of that and I’m the one on both sides of the « families relationships »
My in-laws earn more money together than my parents and thus have a better lifestyle than my family. They have 2 children with my gf being the younger and she has her own bedroom at my in-laws place.
I am the eldest of 3 kids and my 2 brothers ( 24 and 20 ) still live with my parents. My bedroom was given to my younger brother when I left my parents for work. Also, my gf and I come from the same city so our parents live like 15 mins apart.
Coming to the point: I’ve been off for the last 3 weeks and decided to visit my parents. My gf and I stayed there for like a week (spaced days but 3 times 2 days spent there). My parents always complain that I don’t spent time with them and my brothers but when I visit them, one of my brother is at work and the other one is away with his gf. Also, when I visit them, we spend all the time at home, watching Netflix or whatever and it bores the hell out of me. My mom is talking 24/7 about money, how she got a deal on this, how much is this worth and the way she dresses to make you think that she’s rich when she’s not. She’s also very judgmental about me and my decisions: I decided to get my ear pierced and she didn’t like it at all ( literally told me wtf is that ), I gained a lot of weight for the past 4 years and she keeps reminiscing the time when I was thin, always judging about my body and appearance and it really starts to piss me off. She clearly has some inferiority complex with money, especially with my in-laws. Also, I just turned 25 and I didn’t expect a present from my parents because they didn’t give anything for the last 5 birthdays and apparently they bought this all in 1 IPhone charging station ( I already have one ) which they wanted to give me. Tbh it looked like they just didn’t think about a gift at all and they tried to hide it. I didn’t feel disappointed at all but I just felt ashamed for them like if you didn’t think about it just say it to me.

So I'm planning to upgrade by Q3 or early Q4 and I feel like we really don't have much choices at this point for Android flagships. I'm an Android ever since but back in 2021, I tried to switch to iPhone by daily driving an iPhone 12 Mini. I noticed that its data and wifi are noticeably slower than Android phones. Did a little bit of googling and found out na even the 15 series have this kind of problem.
To those who are still daily driving both iPhone and Android, have you noticed that the iPhone has much slower data and wifi?
Planning to switch to iPhone 15 Pro or 16 instead.

Hi everyone,
I've noticed an issue with my home router (ZTE - F8648P) where my iPhone's WiFi Calling doesn't automatically connect. I need to toggle airplane mode for it to work. Additionally, when I am on a VoLTE call, my phone does not attempt to handover to VoWiFi when the call/session is placed over LTE.
However, when I test the same scenarios at work with a different access point (Ubiquiti) and another service provider, everything works fine. My phone connects automatically to WiFi Calling, and the handover from VoLTE to VoWiFi occurs without any issues.
I suspect the problem might be related to the MTU settings. When I trace the WiFi interface on my phone, I don't see any attempt to connect to the ePDG from my home access point. I wonder if the iPhone detects that the MTU is insufficient to send DF packets over my home AP for reconnections or handovers from one access to the other.
Has anyone faced a similar issue or have any insights on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We know in canon that Aegon II had both Aegon III and Baela as hostages and could have easily killed them earlier if he really wanted to, but chose not to and it came back to bite him, though he was already dead by then but still.
So if in this hypothetical scenario, Aegon II kills both of them, he gets poisoned the same and the Riverlands forces arrive but this time Corlys rides out alone because he doesnt have a claimant to crown since Rhaena is still placed locked in the Vale. The riverlanders don't know what to do and Cregan is still marching a couple weeks behind them. With the only Targaryens with Valyrian blood left being Jaehaera, Aegon II's bastard son Gaemon and Rhaena in the Vale. We know in canon Cregan considered Aegon II the rightful king for some reason, even though like he's fighting against him, whatever. So we are to assume the same still applies for him, he arrives to no monarch existing because the Blacks have no one to crown.
Now this is where I get split on the fence with my thought process because Cregan seemed to believe Aegon II was the rightful king and didn't do any actual work to make it written and recorded that Rhaenyra was the rightful Queen. Aegon III was crowned as his named heir, his nephew and the only living male claimant alive coming from the royal family of Viserys I.
At this point in the war, Cregan commands the largest host and in canon and I don't see a reason why not here, has the most power in this situation. So I am wondering, who do you think he'd want to crown in this situation? I know a lot of people are going to immediately go for the choice, Rhaena duh because she's the last Black Targaryen, but you have to take into account the context for why Aegon III was also crowned, he was named heir by Aegon II, he was the last person of Viserys I's bloodline and the only living male left. Rhaena is not of the royal family, she is a 2nd son's daughter with a Velaryon woman who wasn't even in the line of inheritance for Driftmark. Her legal claim falls way below Jaehaera's in any valid argument. Now you can argue Cregan is a dumbass and wouldn't care about this, but who's to say Jeyne Arryn shouldnt? I am aware in canon George forgot shes a giant feminist and never even tried to argue for Jaehaera's rights when she was being usurped by her cousin like Jeyne's cousins tried to do to her, but in this case Jaehaera by all rights is the rightful heir and if Cregan over here is declaring Aegon II as the rightful monarch, not Rhaenyra or Daemon, then Jaehaera should be crowned, not Rhaena. You also have the Hightowers who still are considering marching again who will probably speak out in favor of Jaehaera and threaten to march out if she isnt picked.
I wouldn't be shocked if a Great Council was suggested and called to pick between the two due to split opinions because Rhaena is the only Black left, but again she isn't actually apart of the central royal family, she is a distant branch cousin, and isn't even a princess. Jaehaera has a much stronger claim than her being the last surviving child of Aegon II, the previous king, and the last of King Viserys's line. I am aware people might argue she is emotionless or broken, so she isnt suited, but these traits are shown in Aegon III, and that didn't stop the lords from pinning a crown on him and leaving him to suffer alone for years to vultures in his court. One more thing, some people might argue that Alyn might have a claim, but no lol. Alyn's parentage is already disputed and no actual proof can be found that he is really Laenor's son, and even if he is, he is a bastard of a distant Velaryon with Targ blood who wasn't even in the central royal family. Even Gaemon is ahead of him in the claimants list.
So what do you think happens in this hypothetical timeline if Aegon II was to kill these people, and Cregan was to arrive to the only Targaryen present being Jaehaera, with Rhaena away in the Vale? Would Jeyne Arryn whose lived her life dealing with cousins trying to steal her birthright argue that Jaehaera doesn't deserve it? Would Corlys try to crown Jaehaera and betrothe Alyn to her as a compromise for the other Black lords? Would Rhaena even want the throne, if not would people try to argue for legitimizing Gaemon and naming him King? If Rhaena is chosen, what do you think happens to Jaehaera, who in this scenario is her heir? Who do you think becomes regent for either Jaehaera or Gaemon if they are picked?

I think that Hound is the one that have Luffy the food. He has all the telltale signs of a traitor. Inaction and questionable dialogue. He hasn't done any fighting onscreen and he asked if it was possible to cancel the Buster Call.

It was revealed in Kuma's backstory that Ace defeated a warlord 4 years ago. Which led to speculation about this warlord being Hinokizu. I think it's true, it adds up to a clue given about his identity. Shiryu speculated he was a government man which the Shichibukai are.

It's unclear if Ace defeated this warlord before or after joining Whitebeard but I think it was after. It seems like Ace defeated the pirate who took the spot he turned down.

I think it is "Bohemian Knight" Doma. It was highlighted when Ace defeated him suggesting it was a big deal and he was promoted to 2nd division commander afterwards. I think it was because Doma was a Shichibukai. I think after his defeat Doma chose to ally himself to Whitebeard for protection.

I think after Whitebeard's death Doma chose to join Kaido and settled in Wano. I also think he cozied up to Orochi for favors.

As my title alluded to I think it will be revealed he is a brilliant scientist rivaling Vegapunk. I think he holds a grudge against him and is why he infiltrated the marines to participate in the Buster Call on Egghead. I think even before this he targeted Vegapunk in the Wano Arc.

Vegapunk was mentioned in Wano and his technology appeared. I think Doma influenced Orochi to demand Vegapunk as payment for more weapons.

I thought it was noteworthy that Orochi was the one who gave Killer the SMILE fruit and wonder why he was involved in trying to break the Kid Pirates. I think it is connected to Vegapunk.

I think Killer and Shaka are doppelgangers (similar to Caribou and Gaburu) do to their similar masks. I think Doma knew this so targeted him similar to Big Mom abusing Chiffon for looking like Lola. I think he influenced Orochi to give him the SMILE since it can turn you into an abomination.

Another thing I noted were the horse Gifters that carried Orochi's carriage. They were all the same and looked like normal Zoans which is unusual for Gifters. Orochi took possession of failed SMILE fruits to use on Okobore residents. I think Doma studied them perfecting SMILE and can turn Pleasures into true Zoans.

I think Doma created the Marys, Kaido's cyborg surveillance unit. I think he based their paper eye masks on Who-Who's eye tattoo. Which I think hints at them being friendly.

Who's-Who stated he saw Jinbe once when he was a Shichibukai. He never clarified the circumstance but we know that Jinbe visited Whitbeard's ship many times and Doma was a subordinate captain. I think Who's-Who was with Doma when he saw Jinbe.

The meaning of the eye symbol is unknown but we know the Torino citizens have a similar symbol. Interesting enough one pointed out that Vegapunk's scientific advancements are used as weapons.

Caesar Clown and Judge formed NEO MADS to surpass Vegapunk. I think Doma will do it by creating Artificial Logias something Vegapunk has been unable to do.

It was reported that Guernica sent the Nika picture and a Mary was with CP-0. It was shown that someone took photos using a den den mushi, I think it was hacked with the technology of the Marys.

I want to do this for an evil playthrough since i think its probably the most evil thing you can do to arcade but dont want to spend time getting all the history points and talking to them all if by the end when i sell ganon the quest just fails and i dont get the enclave power armor or the assist at hoover dam yknow
Im willing to use glitches if necessary but i would rather avoid it where possible and i would very much like to avoid console use because i might as well just spawn what i want at that point

Thunder in seven. Brace yourself for plenty of bouts of brilliance from Doncic and Irving. Pressure won’t affect them. West Semifinals: (1) Oklahoma City Thunder vs. (5) Dallas Mavericks

1. Despite the difference in seeding this projects to be an extremely close series.
2. OKC's 3-1 regular-season series advantage should come with a big asterisk, as two of their wins came when Luka Dončić didn't play. The only contest featuring both Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving ended in a 146-111 beatdown of the Thunder on Feb. 10.
3. The team that controls the glass could have a big impact on this series, as Dallas and Oklahoma City were almost equally bad at rebounding the ball this season. The Mavs ranked 26th in total rebound percentage (48.5 percent) while the Thunder were even worse at 28th overall (48.4 percent).
4. This should be an exciting series to watch, as both teams finished in the top seven in pace of play.
5. Key Matchup: Luka Dončić vs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
6. A meeting of two players who should both finish in the top three in MVP voting, Dončić and Gilgeous-Alexander averaged a combined 64 points per game this season.
7. Dončić did his best to carve up the OKC defense, averaging 34.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 13.5 assists in his two games against the Thunder this season. Gilgeous-Alexander was actually held in check, as his 22.0 points per game vs. Dallas was his second-lowest average against any team this year (17.5 vs. Milwaukee).

9. Gilgeous-Alexander is simply too good to not increase his regular-season scoring numbers, and the Thunder are the deeper overall team. Chet Holmgren's rim protection should help keep Dončić and Kyrie Irving from getting easy looks at the rim, and we trust Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault in this series more than Jason Kidd. OKC moves on.

Thunder vs. Mavs: Who ya got?

Rohrbach: Thunder in 6. As talented as Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving are, and they are remarkable, Oklahoma City is just as impressive — and deeper — as a team. People will learn a lot about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, who all play beyond their years.
Goodwill: Mavericks in 7. Calling for the upset! Not because Dallas is better — Oklahoma City is, and more dynamic. Will the Thunder be desperate enough to match what Luka and Kyrie bring? They do have Lu Dort and Williams to defend those two, and Shai’s length on the wings, and Chet at the rim. Wait, why am I calling for the upset? Only because Dallas will recognize the desperate moments of truth and Dončić will be the best player on the floor late. But I’m not confident about this pick.
Fischer: Thunder in 7. They were as ready as advertised in the first round, sweeping New Orleans without Zion Williamson standing in their way. OKC has a much more daunting task with rivaling an All-Star playmaking combination of Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving that Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum hoped to be. The Thunder, though, simply know what pros want, despite their youth and inexperience.
Devine: Thunder in 7. In what promises to be an absolute war, I think I trust Oklahoma City’s cadre of perimeter defenders to at least make Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving work for everything more than I trust their Dallas counterparts to tamp down on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. That, plus OKC having home-court advantage, nudges me over to the side of youth being served.

I don’t even know where to start. From the first day that I met my in-laws a decade ago, they have been entitled, demanding and generally very difficult and frustrating to deal with. I love my husband very much, and we very rarely have problems or fights unless it’s concerning his parents and his sister.
Some back story, my husband and his mom are Eastern European, while my husband’s stepdad and I are Chinese, and we all live in China. His half-sister is mixed European and Chinese. I can barely believe that he’s related to these people: he’s independent, competent, helpful, generous and logical, whereas they are none of these things.
Even before we got married, my in-laws constantly asked me to do favors for them, and I think they treat me like a servant. They’ve even ruined two of my birthdays in a row with some demanding tantrums over stupid shit, and my MIL tried to commandeer my wedding, she even called it her wedding.
One of the problems is that both of them are terrible communicators: my MIL, despite having lived in China for three decades, does not speak Chinese, whereas I don’t speak her mother tongue. Her English is quite poor and she constantly misunderstands me when we try to communicate in English. Even something as simple as organizing a meet up is riddled with frustrations because she has absolutely no communication skills, and she doesn’t even know how to use GPS or other basic Chinese apps. She is the most helpless person I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. She hasn’t had a job since she came to China and she is incompetency personified.
On top of that she is snobby, she looks down on most Chinese people and whenever we socialize she is always complaining about something or someone, and she thinks all Chinese people are out of scam her. She lives in a total expat bubble and does not understand most Chinese customs or way of life. My FIL, ironically being Chinese himself, is also a terrible communicator and has a bad case of untreated adult ADD. He’s always spewing bullshit conspiracies at me, or putting me down, or going on about some complete non-sequitur. They’re both demanding and entitled, and if you help them with one favor, they’ll ask for ten more immediately, they’re both total choosing beggars.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was that about 2 years ago, my sister-in-law was getting ready to apply for university in the US. Since I had gone to college in the US, they both asked my husband to make me help her with her college application and SATs. I didn’t want to do it, because I knew there would be communication problems and misunderstandings galore, but after much pleading from my husband, acquiesced in the end.
From the get-go, it was a total nightmare. They both knew absolutely nothing about the US university application process, but whenever I tried to explain it they both talked over me and didn’t listen at all. On top of that they were delusional about my sister-in-law’s grades. She is a mediocre student at best and has absolutely no hobbies or extracurricular interests other than video games, and she acts bratty and immature for her age. Despite this, they thought she could get into Colombia or NYU. Eventually I found them an agency to help them, but as usual my MIL thought the agency was out to scam her and started complaining about them to me and my FIL right away. He, being the entitled twat that he is, told me he was going to sue them for not delivering, even though he didn’t even bother to read the contract he signed with them, and told me to read it, and resolve the situation otherwise he will sue.
On top of this, my SIL, being lazy and spoiled, hated going to them and took it out on me personally by being excessively rude to me everyone I saw her. She would often roll her eyes at me, complain about the agency loudly, or otherwise pretend that I didn’t exist. She has also taken to texting me 40 messages in a row on WeChat in the middle of the night, demanding help with her college application. My MIL witnessed some of this behavior and said nothing. I got so fed up that I started to avoid them completely, and quit our group chats. After a few months they realized I was avoiding them, and started complaining about me and badmouthing me to my husband for “disrespecting” them.
Last September, my husband forced me to go to a dinner with them, after I had managed to avoid them for half a year. My MIL and SIL were both incredibly rude to me and cold-shouldered me all night. I was very upset and honestly didn’t want to ever see them again. Around Thanksgiving they decided it was time to “forgive” me, and I was forced into another dinner with them. The favor-asking started again after this, this time my MIL wanted help changing the wallpapers in her house, which I had done for them before. I was honestly beyond done with them at this point and never wanted to help them with anything again, but as usual my husband begged and pleaded. After I helped them, my husband told his mom to text me to thank me and tell me she was satisfied with the result. Instead she texts (the first time she has texted me in over a year) that she wants to change the wallpaper in every room of their house and wants me to find her new wallpaper books, and help them some more with this.
At this point I am furious. I honestly don’t ever want to see or talk to them again. They never apologized for any of their behavior, never even realized how awful they have been to me over the years, and have gotten comfortable enough to demand favors again. I want my husband to tell them that it’s not okay to treat me this way, and how their past behavior hurt my feelings, but my husband thinks his mom is too sensitive, will misunderstand, and doesn’t want to hurt her feelings. I also offered a face-to-face meeting with her to tell her myself how offensive I find her and my FIL and SIL’s behavior to be, but my husband thinks that her English isn’t strong enough for this and thinks I will offend her and she will misunderstand as usual.
I don’t know what to do at this point, all I know is I can’t stand any of them and can barely bring myself to be civil at this point. I feel allergic to them. I’ve talked about this endlessly to my husband, but he thinks I’m overreacting and that they aren’t that bad to me. He thinks I should just take it. He works for my FIL, and he’s used to them badgering him to help them with basic things. He thinks it’s okay that they treat me like an extension of him, but I’m not okay with it anymore.
I cut ties with my own mother a decade again for abuse, controlling behavior and treating me like a servant. I honestly can’t believe I’m experiencing this with my in-laws all over again, it triggers me like nothing else. I don’t want to leave my husband, and we have a very happy life together otherwise. He’s such a good person, but he’s also caught in the middle. I know my thoughts and complaints about his family hurts him a lot.
I’ve tried searching online for advice on how to deal with entitled and demanding in-laws, but I can’t find any specific to my case. They don’t interfere with my life otherwise, they only reach out when they want me to do something for them. I feel like they only value me for what I can do for them, and I’m hurt that my husband thinks his mom’s feelings are more important than mine. Every time we talk about them it leads to a massive fight between us. He simply cannot see it from my point of view, and constantly tells me to get over it, and that their behavior isn’t a big deal. What do I do?
