Dog cage covers

Hi all—we fostered our first dog ever this weekend. It was a short term 24hr foster since she had some medical issues and needed more serious help than we could provide her. We picked her up from the vet where she was bathed and given a flea treatment. Once home we noticed a couple of fleas (2-3 active ones on her white coat) and one on a toy she brought with her. We immediately threw away the toy (bought her a new one later). My question is how worried should we be about now having a flea problem in the home? We vacuumed every room thoroughly and washed all bedding and couch covers. I haven’t had any bites or seen any. Any help or advice would be appreciated?

Before the conception of the universe we now know, there was a single species, alone among the stars, the planets, the moons, isolated in their ways - or so they thought. The most intelligent of their kind, specially gifted scientists deemed smart enough to continue the human race, were able to escape the planet before its decimation. They were tasked with the voluminous challenge of settling down on the planet TS-19, that had tested successfully for compatibility, a century before. There had previously been many attempts at colonization on other planets, but all had failed due to human greed and corruption. Now there was nobody there to spurt the weakness of the previous failures. The team of fifty scientists managed to settle down on TS-19, taking five decades longer than they had originally estimated, although not mattering much due to the incubation chambers they had developed on earth before. Settling down on the planet, almost 1.5 billion light years away, the scientists discovered a rich and conditioned atmosphere where civilization would be able to thrive.
For the first time in ages, a sense of hope was restored as the future looked brighter than it ever had on earth. The scientists discovered not only the inspiring potential for life but a profound new energy source, found in the rich soil of the planet, which had previously gone undetected in their research. The newfound energy source, named soldane, a purple clay like substance, was discovered to dramatically increase cognitive ability, improving the function of the mind by over 300%, allowing for abilities and ideas that were previously unable to be conceptualized and thought to be unattainable. The fumes of the soldane alone were enough to initiate this function partly and explained the purple tint of the planet, which was accompanied by a fluorescent glow beaming from the oceans which covered almost seventy percent of the planet.
The scientists, in awe of the world they had discovered that was seven times larger than earth, which we now know today as concord, examined the soldane closely, discovering when consuming it, that it gave a new perception of reality than what they had known it before, changing the way they thought, the speed at which they thought at, as their neurotransmitters rapidly sped up, connections and impulses within the mind moving close to light speed. With this also came the ability to live for hundreds of thousands of years without even showing a wrinkle and instead of abusing this and trying to prevent another possible collapse in existence, the scientists decided to give life another chance, genetically modifying preserved embryos they had taken from earth and injecting them with small amounts of liquified soldane to start their breeding program. Although risky, the results were successful in creating Generation 0, the first generation of concordions. This new species, genetically enhanced and smarter than humans in every way, thrived as their advanced intelligence grew to heights above the scientists who had enabled their life. Their skin, a shade of light purple and their eyes, entirely black, were the future of all endless possibilities and everything that could come after.
The scientists who had come a long way from their original plan, raised the new species as pets to experiment on. Not learning the consequences of containment and violation from earth, the scientists met a miserable fate when after only a few months of development, the oppressed beings lashed out from their cages, ripping the scientists to shreds with their bare hands. And so forth, the new species was born, concordians, they called themselves, idealistic in their nature and relentless in their will to build a new world. From the ashes of civilization, ruins that bore no sign of reformation, the entire planet was built up slowly, soldane being utilized to create the perfect paradise, as the concordians matured into experienced and extremely sophisticated individuals, fascinated by the idea of life.

Hello everyone,
I'm right on the cusp of getting into battletech after admiring it for many years. I'm a long-term table-top war gamer, complex boardgame player, etc. I've played several battletech videogames over the years as well so I'm reasonably in on the lore. But before I start getting books and miniatures, I wanted to ask a few game mechanic questions to help guide what I start with.
Would it be alright to skip the beginner box and go start to the TotalWar and Armored combat set? Part of my goal is to get a a system I can get my more casual friends and family into, I'm not afraid of reading thick books, BUT if the beginner box is a good place to expose brand new people, while being a stepping stone to grow, I'm all for it. Let me ask this question another way as well, are the rules in the beginner box a different simpler set of rules OR a sub-section of the rules that continue to grow into the full game?
I see that the game uses a hex board, does the combat system work well if I use 3d terrain? What about the concepts of: Line of sight, building destruction, jump-jets, partial cover?
How does force building work in general? Can I field a clan/inner sphere mixed force: 2 Mad Dogs, 2 Cicada, 1 Deva? I assume games are balanced around total tonnage? Do most mechs exist in miniature form at the standard scale? I know that the mechs come in lots of variants and part of the draw it the loadout customization, is there a system in the rules for making a completely custom mech?
I really appreciate any answers anyone can give me, and just any general information I could use given the position I'm in. I'd like to reiterate, I don't need to be talking into getting in, I'm getting in, I just want to start in a way that is also mostly likely to get my casual gamer wife to play too without bombarding her with a bunch of rules and lore homework.

His temperament has changed suddenly the last few days and for a few weeks now he’s been hobbling up and down stairs, really struggles to sit on his bum, mooches around the house for ages only to not get comfy anywhere and return to his crate.
He also moans a lot more than he used to and doesn’t seem as interested in life as much as he once was.
He’s never been a bouncy dog or a play/fetch dog, but he rarely comes to us anymore. It’s rare and special when he does come to me for a stroke.
His last groomer said he’d had a seizure when she was bathing him which was a shock to us, but he’s never done anything since then. I said if I saw it myself I’d take him to the vets but he’s has no sign of seizures. However, we generally don’t put him in stressful situations as he’s older now.
He’s always been food aggressive due to his upbringing (not in our care) and we have always acted accordingly to that and made people in our home aware. He is crate trained also.
The problems seem to be stacking and I’ve been trying at home joint supplements and things however I’m concerned as we have a 2.5 year old human son, who he’s snapped at a few times (not broken skin) over the few years and then yesterday he snapped at our neighbour’s son (5 yo) who was visiting. I shut him in his crate immediately for the rest of their visit, as the child was visibly scared of him.
He has the occasional day where he throws up and I’ve noticed when picking up his poops they are smaller and drier than usual?
I want to take him to a vet to assess it all, but I’m worried they’re just going to euthanise him. I’m also worried that to find out what’s wrong with him is going to cost us a fortune. So I’m just worried and hoping he improves again in time.
I don’t want to annoy people with this post. I love my dog. But I also love my son and others that enter my home. If we shut him in his cage too long he gets agitated.
I suppose I’m just asking, what do I do?
What do I ask the vet to assess/test for that will be: a) helpful for the situation (but not traumatising for our dog) b) not cost us thousands*
Would a vet suggest euthanising given age and list of problems?
That is what I want to avoid - THAT conversation. But I know I’m not helping my dog by ‘waiting’. I’m so emotional about that part.
*can I say, we are by no means rich, but are willing to pay for care that will help him (ie meds), but surgical options I believe wouldn’t be best for our dog’s circumstances and cause him a lot of distress. But these would also be very costly to us where we live.

TL;DR – Adult shepherd mix throws up on any car ride involving a crate. We've tried meds for motion sickness, gentle sedatives, calming collars, training (positive association), and re-positioning the crate. It's limiting her life and I'm hoping for new ideas.
Background: I have a 3-year old mutt, rescued last May from a shelter. Embark DNA testing shows that she is 50% shepherd (~35% GSD & ~15% Aussie), 30% APBT, and the rest is a mix of Doberman, Boxer, and Retriever. She has lots of energy and lots of anxiety. Before I adopted her, she had never been in a home. She was completely confused by cars, stairs, beds, toys, etc. She has made a ton of progress in the last year, almost to the point that I'd label her "well-adjusted" which is a huge shift. She gets at least two hours of hard exercise per day and she's relaxed, goofy, and sweet. She has some separation anxiety which we're still working on and it's improving.
One enduring issue that we've had is the car. I have always loved taking my dogs on outdoor adventures and it's huge for me that she be able to travel in a car. I'm also big on the safety aspect, so I only feel comfortable having her ride in a crash-tested kennel. She doesn't roam free in my car; I'm not open to it. It's for both her safety and mine. Plus, I love to take her places where she can play hard and gross and get filthy, and my car would be disgusting if I couldn't confine the wet, slimy, muddy mess to her crate which is easily cleaned.
Every time she rides in the car in her crate, she throws up. At first, I thought it was just motion sickness, so we tried every medication the vet suggested. She's been on Cerenia, Benadryl, Dramamine, gabapentin. We have tried mixing a couple of those, at the vet's recommendation (I believe it was Benadryl and gabapentin but I could be wrong). We also tried VetriScience Composure chews from her vet. I've bought her two of the those "calming" collars. None of this had any effect at all. She would still puke within 15 minutes in the car.
The only two car rides she has ever been able to not throw up during, are rides that she took with my friend who doesn't have a crate in her car. Which makes me think it could only be one of two things: she's not carsick at all and it's actually anxiety, or it's something about the crate that causes her carsickness. I've tried several different orientations of the crate. In all of these, it has been secured to the cargo points in the car. At first, it was in the cargo area, facing the tailgate. I thought that she might be lacking airflow back there (even with a fan), so I turned it around with the door facing the cabin of the car and dropped the back seats down. So the crate is tied down in the cargo area, but she has a few feet of free space in front of her and has fresh air, a visual of me, etc. She throws up every single ride in both of those positions. I have also tried facing the crate to the side, so she has room on three sides instead of two. No luck there, either. I have tried feeding her before the ride, I've tried not feeding her before the ride, I've tried comfort items in her crate, I've tried giving special enrichment treats in the car, I've tried playing music, I've tried no music, I've tried having someone sit beside her crate and talk to her in the backseat. Nothing keeps her from puking. I can only imagine it's making her dread the car even more to associate it with sickness, and it's honestly making me dread taking her places.
I'm really at a loss. Her vet has no answer for me, other than that it could be anxiety if the medicine isn't helping. They thought maybe a trainer could help so I hired a trainer who had no advice I hadn't tried. If anyone has any recommendations or experience with this, please share. It sounds like a dream to be able to load her up in the car and take her to a beautiful hike or fun swim without her being covered in puke when we get there. We live in a fairly remote area and her options for new, fun experiences are limited without being able to ride in a car. Thank you from both of us!

Many, many years ago I taught preschool. Every teacher worked 4 11 hour days & had one week day off, I rotated through the preschool & pre-k classrooms on the days their regular teachers had off.
Most of the parents I worked with were great..others, not so much. I had an incident with a parent at morning drop-off. I honestly can't remember what was said, but it left me butthurt the rest of the morning. I didn't have much planned for the morning & wouldn't you know it, it rained cats and dogs which meant the kids had to stay inside. I pulled out the glitter for art. I made a bunch of copies of butterfly outlines & showed the kids how to mask off areas using tape so only one area of the butterfly got glitter, by the end, they had created really beautiful butterflies. they left them on a table to dry during nap, this is where my pettiness took over. I covered each project with contact paper so the glitter stayed in place instead of infesting the parents cars....except for the parent who had pissed me off that morning. The child didn't even notice, but I'm sure the parent saw the other projects laid out. I just looked at her & said "I'm sorry, I ran out of contact paper before I could get to your child's project. Have a nice weekend."
She left. I didn't notice a change , but I only saw her once a week, if that. BUT, it made me feel better & the kids had a blast on their projects.
This is a lesson to all the parents out there, don't f**k with your child's teachers.

TL;DR: My (43M) mom (61F) got upset at me on Mothers Day for not calling her. I told her she needs therapy.
We live two states apart, and have almost nothing in common. It’s been about 18 months since I’ve seen her, when I told her that my marriage of 20 years was failing. Her reaction was to tell me that I can’t get divorced and have to work things out, even though I’m not the one that asked for a divorce and was doing everything I could to make it work.
On Sunday at 10:45 AM she sent me this text. “So I woke up this morning and hoped to hear knock knock. It didn't happen. I went back to bed and covered my head as I snuggled with the dog. I gotta say I really need to quit setting myself up with hoping to expect to see or hear something along the lines of happy mothers day or maybe even find a note in the mail or flowers on the porch to actually put a smile on my face and feel the warmth in my heart of my child thinking of me to start my day with a smile on Mothers Day. While making my way through crowds of people looking for special whatever to go with the Love they're excited to give or say to their mothers and grandmothers,try not to think about it because it doesn't happen to me. Or it hasn't in... I can't remember when, although l do know that I might finally hear from you towards evening when the family thing or excitement of the day is done and I've again felt that lonely and left out feeling and had my cry and over it.After all I only have one child who is in the process of moving a little further away. Just saying... I Love You [OP]"
She's done something like this several times in the last few weeks, sending me copy/paste memes about how a mother waits endlessly for her children.
Her own husband #3 served her with divorce papers in January of this year and she's been angry and mean since, unwilling to talk about anything else except her divorce. She even suggested that she might try going to therapy, but hasn't followed through on it after I offered to help her find someone.
After much thought, some discussion with a friend, and some prayer, I responded with "Hi mom. I hear you being sad about not seeing me more. I'm sorry you feel the need to guilt trip me to get what you want. Perhaps you can work with a therapist on how to communicate your needs in advance in a more direct manner. After you have a chance to talk to a therapist, I look forward to reconnecting."
She responded with this: "How dare you talk to me like that! GUILT TRIP? That is on you [OP]. If you could have ATLEAST said HAPPY MOTHERS DAY instead of telling me you will talk to me when talk to a therapist about how it hurts when my only child is so much above and better than his mother that he cannot and does not warrant her being worth flowers or even the words out of his mouth. And you show me a Mother that would not be hurt over what you just said to me instead of at least verbally expressing to me that apparently you feel I need therapy!"
There were an additional 12 messages like this of similar length and tone over the next five days. I have not responded.
Neither of us have tried to call each other.

I have timestamped the video for the moment Chris comes in. For context, streamer Clueminati has covered other true crime cases but this one happens to be in her own town. She has met Seth at a few searches a couple months back, and has spoken to the Proudfoot's over the phone several times. She is considered to have a bias toward the "Proudfeet" and against Seth. She doesn't believe the Proudfeet have been given a fair shake by independent and mainstream media.
My own summary (my perception could be different from yours):

• Chris says people are going to have their opinions; it's ok. It's been an eventful night with Chris and Katie listening to the Smiley Story's World Podcast of the same night.
• "There are people out there who have done some pretty heinous things, threats; and we have handed them over to law enforcement....No one's gonna wanna be alone, and that's not fair."

Probably not a common question -
I removed my smoker cover a couple days ago and it caught the grease bucket and fell, spilling probably 12-16oz, most of it just off the side of my patio. It's in a spot on my lawn that doesn't grow much grass, mostly dirt (waiting for this fall to do first aerate/overseed). My concern is less for the lawn, but mostly how to keep our dogs from trying to lick up the grease. I sprayed down w/ water, and dumped a couple handfuls of pellets on it to absorb some of it. Dogs still super interested in that spot..
What should I do to both clean this up, but also not destroy this section of my lawn?

Recently our Male dog was part of a breeding agreement. The client had said they couldn’t afford to pay the stud service up front, and chose to take the “cost of first puppy sold” option.
They have now sold some of the puppies, and are trying to tell us they only got $750 for the first dog yesterday, and they will pay us tomorrow (we had to initiate contact as they didn’t tell us to begin with).
The issue we have is - dogs were listed for $1200 - One puppy (first sold) on listing has been “reserved” for over 2 weeks - We don’t/can’t trust them
The contracts have a minimum payment clause, which ensures we get $900, so they are saying they will cover that balance. But I can’t help but assume they are lying, and got the full amount for this first puppy, and are trying to leverage us being in the unknown and heavily relying on trust to not have to pay us in full.
That being said, with the wording in the contracts (below), and the small context provided above, would we even have a case in small claims court? Or should we take the $900 and understand it’s not worth the fight? (Money is an issue now after a lot of recent medical bills, so it’s important to us)
Contract 1 “English Cream Golden Retriever: Bruce is 33 months old and 82 lbs. He is AKC registered. Our stud fee is $600 or pick of the litter or cost of first sold puppy and will cover 2 stud services. 50% must be paid, at the time of the first service. At the first successful lock the remainder of the fee is to be collected. If arrangements have been made prior to the breeding for pick of litter puppy in lieu of a stud fee, this contract must reflect that agreement and be agreed upon by the owner of the dam and the owner of the stud dog prior to the stud service. If you wish to increase the number of services, the fee will be raised $50 per visit. If no pregnancy results, a return service will be given to the same dam at half cost on her next heat cycle. Stud owner must be notified within one week after puppy's due date, if no pregnancy results, to be eligible for the free return service. One puppy whelped alive constitutes a litter. No refund will be given if no pregnancy either time. Females usually breed between the 10th to 15th day of heat cycle. Please schedule accordingly as we want this to be successful. Dam will meet at studs' home for the service. The dam may stay at the stud's home for no more than 1.5 hours at a time unless otherwise discussed beforehand. If you require the dam to stay longer, the service price will increase. Owners of dams to be bred by Bruce agree that no offspring from a resulting litter may be sold or given to anyone who has the intent to breed to a wolf, wolf hybrid, or any agent, pet shop, guard dog business or laboratory/research facility. If pick of the litter is chosen the puppy will be picked up by the owners of the stud 8 weeks after birth and the puppy will have at a minimum their first round of shots and 1 deworming service done. If cost of first sold puppy is selected, the owners of the stud will be paid in full as soon as payment is received. Cost of first puppy sold payment will be a minimum of $900, and if the puppy sells for less, the owner of the Dam assumes responsibility to cover the balance. Owners of dam are going to be listing puppies at $1200 cost.
The agreement of this specific service will be pick of litter upon these contingencies: Dam must conceive a minimum of one female puppy. The owners of Bruce will get the first pick of litter. If no female is born, stud fee of $600 is to be collected.”
Contract 2 “ This agreement is made and entered into on this day Feb 1 2024, by and between {name} , here in after referred to as the "Stud Owner," and {name} here in after referred to as the "Dam Owner." * Stud Service Description. ** The Stud Owner agrees to provide stud services from Bruce, a cream colored Golden Retriever AKC registered, here in after referred to as the, "Stud" to, "Dam" Chicka, a cream colored Golden Retriever. * Stud Fee and Payment Terms. ** The stud fee will be the equivalent to the sale price of the first puppy sold in the litter, sired by the Stud listed in this contract. Minimum Fee. *** In the event that the sale price of the first puppy is less than $900, The Dam owner Shall Pay the difference to ensure the stud fee is equitable to the fee requested of $900 in the original add for the studs services. Payment method*** Payment shall be made via Cash, Venmo, or Zelle. Proof of pregnancy*** The Dam owner will provide proof of pregnancy or non-pregnancy by a licensed Vet on or around day 45 of the pregnancy with an X ray to confirm the estimated number of puppies present. If the pregnancy results in less than 3 puppies the stud owner agrees to a second breeding free of charge when the dam comes back into season. This will be at the Dam owner's request. At the time that pregnancy is confirmed by the Dam owner, the studs AKC paperwork will be provided to the dam's owner. Breach of Contract and Legal Action*** Non- Compliance of this contract by Dam owner or Stud owner will constitute a breach of contract and will result in legal action and recourse by the Stud or Dam owner for compensation. Agreement Terms*** Both Parties hereby agree to the terms and conditions set forth in this contract. Legal Recourse *** In the event of a breech, owners reserve the right to seek legal action and compensation.”

I think the cover was an illustration of a girl riding a bicycle and showed the dog too. The character was obsessed with all things French and high fashion.

Hello I need advice.
I do not like being touched. I don't like hugs and I don't like if people stand really close to me. If I can help it, I try to communicate these at social/family events but I do tolerate a certain amount in public because it seems that can't be helped. It feels akin to those gag toy packs of gum that vibrate/shock you when people touch me. When poking people in middle school was a big thing, I always poked really hard because when I got poked it hurt so I thought everyone was just jabbing each other.
Anyways, I don't like physical contact. That's covered. My husband's teen brother is autistic and almost 100% non verbal. My mother in law says his IQ is 37 and his mind is that of a three year old. These are her words but I don't know how else to describe him. He climbs all over anything and he's very physical especially with his mom and for whatever reason, me. He likes to get less than an inch from my face and screech loudly. He tries to grab my hair or my arms but I don't let him but he does it to his mom. Hell pull her hair in all kinds of directions and even straight up slap her. She mostly just deals with it.
I don't want to do deal with this, though. I don't like constantly being vigilant in case he comes up from behind to do it. I haven't tried telling him because his mom says he won't understand. I use physical body ques like I would with my dogs which honestly seems to work a little but I know next to nothing on how to proceed with this.
Simply not going isn't the best option. I don't want to be rude or hurtful either. But I need my space respected.
